The All right. Thank you. Well, hello, travelers, and welcome back to Walk About the World,
your weekly audio stroll through the parks and resorts of Walt Disney World and Disneyland in California.
I'm Josh, and I don't know if you can tell by the sound, but where I'm from, we don't have those.
Those were turnstiles.
So that can only mean one thing.
I'm not at Walt Disney World.
I'm at Disneyland.
And I'm here with who?
Hello.
It's Michelle.
It's an East meets West reunion
here at Disneyland.
Currently on Main Street
waiting for a
form of transportation.
Some kind of a
toot toot putt putt vehicle.
Whether it be a fire truck or a
those other things called I think there's main street vehicles looks like
a mr. toad car yeah so or the omnibus also the omnibus so we're gonna hop on a
main street vehicle right around Main Street, USA, here at
Disneyland. And then my plan is
just to take in the
awesomeness that is Disneyland
since I'm here and
get some of the sounds that I'm not
used to recording.
So, let's
be on
our way. Let's walk
about the Disneyland.
Look, Michelle, ducks.
Hi, duckies.
Some good-looking ducks.
True or false, Disneyland ducks are better than
Disney World ducks.
True. They're better than all ducks. It sucks.
Happy to report that Disneyland did not wash away over the past week.
That's true.
Still here.
Still here. It's been
very wet.
And cold. Standing here in the hub, Matterhorn directly ahead of us, castle to the left, tiny castle.
It's an appropriate size.
That's a little house is what that is.
No, it's an adequate size for this setting.
Size doesn't matter.
It's not the size of the castle.
It's, I don't know.
The magic inside?
There you go.
That works.
Here comes the omnibus.
You want to hop the omnibus?
Let's get on the omnibus. You wanna hop the omnibus? Let's get on the omnibus.
I'm always jealous of the people that get to ride these vehicles with Bob Gurr when he's here.
And they don't even know.
They don't even realize.
They don't even know!
I mean, I would freak out.
I don't even think I could ride it.
I'd just freak out.
Legendary Imagineer Bob Gurr.r frequently seen around the parks
of Disneyland, riding on his
vehicles that he
designed
I think we missed the omnibus.
It's on the other side.
It's on the other side.
I can't hear this song without thinking of the Muppet Division.
By the light, by the light.
Ducky, run, ducky, run. Run.
Please, small children, leave the duckies be.
If that was a Disney World duck, it would have fought back.
That's how they roll out there.
That's how they roll out there. That's how they roll.
Stop, stop, stop, stop, stop, stop. No! Where are you going? Wait for me!
Oh, okay. There it is.
Have fun! If you have too much fun, don't be bad.
I'm gonna ask him if this vehicle has a specific name.
He's gonna say, oh, the Honka Honka. The Honka Honka vehicle? That's what I call it.
You need a ride down to Town Square?
Yes, please.
Go ahead.
Go ahead.
Does this type of vehicle have a name?
Yes.
What's it called?
It's a horseless carriage.
There you go. But the artificial name of the car is Christine.
Christine. Named after a movie that had an evil car by the seat.
Not typecast, obviously.
The lady that named it was because it ran over her foot and it caught fire on her, so she said,
this is Christine.
That's how she's been affectionately known.
I'd like to welcome you aboard the horse that's carried us.
We do motor down Main Street USA in this new fancy conveyance.
I ask that you remain sitting down.
Supervised children, so you keep an eye on him.
Keep your hands, arms, legs, feet inside the vehicle.
We are going to do incredible speeds of nearly three to five miles per hour don't worry not all the rides in the park go this fast we're gonna be
riding on a very historic vehicle this is the very first motorized car to be on
Main Street she started on May 12th of 1956. That makes her over 67 years old.
In fact, we even have pictures of Walt Disney himself driving this very car.
And she is a movie star.
She was in the movie Summer Magic starring Hayley Mill and Burl Ives.
They painted her great but a flat bend in the back was Burl Ives' truck.
She used it through the whole movie.
She even did her own stunt work and she had a gorgeous dream.
So if you ever get a chance to watch that movie you can go see that car. I rode in it.
Now if I start going a little fast and you're getting scared let me know. I won't do anything I just like to know.
So where are y' all headed to next?
Matterhorn?
What? Matterhorn. There's nothing matter
with my arm.
The Matterhorn's over there. I'm gonna
actually take you away from it.
So, you've
been to the Magic Kingdom? Yes.
You've been on their Main Street? Yes.
Do you know what the basic
difference is between that Main Street and our Main Street?
What's your question?
There is a basic concept difference.
That doesn't mean the size is right.
Main Street, Florida is a Victorian, Florida City style.
They've worn a gold, Florida City style. It's made for an 8-0 box of iron.
Our main city is a typical New England Western town.
It's a nice and small town with a little bit of a
kind of like the town of Wallsville, of course, but it's not Marcy like a lot of people think.
We have about basically three different kinds of signs built here.
They don't make something from the wall. We have about basically three different guys inside the building here. They all basically come to our hotel like our city hall.
It's based off of, I think it's Colorado Street.
And that's where the gentleman came from.
So it's basically the building of everybody's hometown.
We've got a building that's in everybody's hometown.
You know, it's like, you feel directly like your hotel, but it's not.
It's not too much. Also, we're not poolside. Our buildings are only 7-8, so we're about 4.
We build more in 5-8, not more in 3-8.
The cars are spent like the youth in the movies spent in the theaters.
Walt Whining is your like a little big-a-person walking through town with his bigger boat and a little bit smaller.
And we have a big-a-person.
And we have a big-a-person. It's called the Humpback. Here we go.
Did you need a ride back?
Did you get it off or did you need a ride back?
We can walk.
I do strongly recommend that you go sit on the bench there.
Let your heart rate settle down before you move on.
Have fun.
If you have too much fun, don't get caught.お客様のお気に入りのお店は、このように見えます。

Next group, step right over here.
We got a root access point. Here we go.

Right side. Kampung Kampung The train is friends, to the Temple of the Forbidden Eye.
I, Sardar, shall now give you counsel to seek out a miraculous journey.
Here in your transportation devices are ingenious pouches for safekeeping all earthly treasures when the journey becomes bumpy.
And to keep you safe and sound, here are special belts attached into the seats.
Simply pull it from the right, inserting it into the left, like so. You see the
excellence of this invention? Your off-road journey is high speed and turbulent, going over rough and rugged terrain, and then suddenly you are turning sharply and dropping suddenly. It is unlike anything you have ever experienced,
I assure you. Now, my friends, one final word of advice. Once you have entered the chamber
of destiny, look not into the eyes of the idol. That would be dangerous, very dangerous.
Well, my friends, your moment is drawing near.
Already I am envious of the wonders that await you, if you avoid the eyes of Mara, that is.
Hello? Hello? Oh, my friends!
The brakes may be needing a little adjustment, but you believe in the curse. You see the treasure of Mara glittering gold.
It is yours.
You look in my eyes.
Your partner needs to be made some do-goods. You are my means of evasion!
Quick! Take the bus out! It's the only way out!
Nice joint! Kampung Kampung Snakes, you guys are all gone. ¶¶ Get a line on down here.
You may have. You made it!
Next time, you're on your own! Friends, I celebrate your arrival!
If you drank too much from the potion of your wish, we will be happy to assist you in store.
But please, stay seated until your passport comes for to a full stop. The Boy, how can we lose this track? This is wild, man. Wildest thing ever. Hey, have you found that missing button?
It's taking a little time.
It's going to be a little narrow, because you're sitting in the middle of the line.
And when it gets to one engine scale,
that's when it's going to be a little hard.
That's when it's going to be a little hard. Woo! 45 minute wait just to see if you can get it.
Yeah.
I'm trying to pull that hat off.
Yeah.
Yeah.
I'm trying to pull it off.
Yeah.
I'm trying to pull it off.
Yeah.
I'm trying to pull it off.
Yeah.
I'm trying to pull it off.
Yeah.
I'm trying to pull it off.
Yeah.
I'm trying to pull it off.
Yeah.
I'm trying to pull it off.
Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's the shortest it's going to be. It's always been. Right now, right?
Yeah. I learned a valuable lesson on my last safari.
Never trust a tiger.
It could be lying. Now if anybody on board, it would be right around the corner. The Tomorrowland monorail station.
Along the way, you can get a bird's eye look at the downtown Disney District,
Disney's Grand California Hotel and Spa, and Disney California Adventure.
To the left of the monorail is the main entrance of Disneyland, the happiest place on Earth.
Disneyland is truly an American original.
Since its opening in 1955, it has hosted hundreds of millions of guests from around the world,
including residents, kings, and celebrities.
It is the original Disney theme park created and enjoyed by Walt Disney himself.
To the right is our transportation plaza where you'll find taxis, hotel shuttles, and public transit stops. I don't think we'll stop waiting no matter what happens.
We're about to enter Disneyland.
Some of the clearances are pretty tight up ahead, so be sure to remain seated, keeping your inspired by science fact and fantasy. Below us is the Submarine Lagoon, where you can dive into a fantastic underwater adventure aboard the Finding Nemo Submarine Voyage. Across the
way are the icy peaks of Matterhorn Mountain, home of the world's most famous bug slide
ride. And beneath us is the Autopia, where drivers of all ages can travel the road to tomorrow. To the right of the Monterey, you just might spot the sparkling gold spires of one of Disney's most beloved attractions, It's a Small World.
And now we're riding alongside the happiest kingdom of them all, Fantasyland, home to Pinocchio, Snow White, Peter Pan,
and other storybook characters.
We're now approaching the Tomorrowland Motor Rail Station, our final destination.
Please remain seated until the motor railail comes to a complete stop.
Then collect your belongings, watch your head, and step carefully from the train.
On behalf of all of our crew, thanks for traveling with us.
And we hope you'll have a happy and memorable visit here at Disneyland.
This is the Tomorrowland Monorail Station.
