Hello, travelers, and welcome back to Walk About the World.
Host Jeremy here with you today, and I know it's been a minute, but we are back.
And so welcome once again to Epcot Center to my extended podcast, family, Hither, and Jan.
The old Hunt Casa is an open book, and so the reason I've been away hasn't been because I'm less interested in our awesome project,
or my extended podcast family, far from it.
My sweetie pie Heather had a surgery,
and she is doing very well and all is well.
And so very grateful.
But it was a six to seven week recovery.
And so I was very glad to play nursemaid for her during that period.
The dresses were a little uncomfortable,
but whatever she wants.
It's a joke.
Like, work with me.
And so today she is doing some other activities, and I am left with absolutely nothing better to do than walk and talk our way through Epcot on a broilingly hot day here in the city beautiful, Orlando, Florida.
And there's nothing better as an antidote to an absolutely ragingly hot day than water.
So Ferb, I know what we're going to do today.
we are going to seek out some of Epcot's many wonderful water features, enjoy them together, park our posteriors by them, maybe do a deep breathing or two, and overall just have a waterfully good time here at Epcot.
And so if you're ready for that, I hope you are, let's go.
We can't help but start at the beginning, right?
So take a few moments and soak up the Epcot entrance prides.
promenade fountain with me.
Gleaming spaceship earth directly in front,
waving Epcot flags to either side of you.
And in the near distance here, Daisy Duck is greeting.
The breeze is making it tolerable here, folks.
Supposed to be 99 today.
And that is before the 75% humidity.
Okay, let's continue on.
Sure you heard that change.
What a better water feature than an attraction with water
attraction with water in the name of it. I love how the soundscape over here
changes along with the foliage. It becomes very tropical looking over here
next to Milan of the journey of water. We're gonna duck in here very briefly
just because it has some of my favorite moving and gurgling water. Come on. So
beautiful back here. Shaded, lots of gurgling and dripping and falling water going on.
Every square inch of this area is blooming.
Just gorgeous.
Here we're parked beside a stream with some leaping fountains,
reminiscent of the imagination pavilion.
They're all covered in lush vegetation and flowering plants.
Beautiful.
When you can take the wet path or the dry path,
which do you choose?
So, so much to consider.
One of the absolute best vistas here in this attraction, parking ourselves beside the waterfall with spaceship earth framed in palms and flowers.
Lovely area.
We are by the river section.
All right, let's move on.
What a fun walk-thor attraction.
All right.
We are over here by the land pavilion, and so it would be a crime to skip the fountain.
mountain at the land, come on. The land featuring Soren, a glorious 1980s font, surrounded by beautiful
bromeliads and tons of little glazed tile mosaic pieces. Montereil orange going by, by the
way. Can you hear the fountain? I hope you can. There's water features inside the land.
The whole of the land boat ride is a water feature of, of, of,
sorts and I would love to go do it we've done it recently and I'm going to take this
time to venture on can't help but stop for some early 80s background music some
of the last perhaps the last remaining in Epcot all right let's press on I want
you to try to guess the very next water feature we're going to see shouldn't be
that difficult it's right around the corner come on and you're right of
course you knew I have no idea what that was about but here we are by the
upside down water fountains water feature over here next to the imagination
pavilion which is a beautiful building upper part of which is now a DVC
lounge and right above the upside down waterfall here is of course the
laminar flow leaping fountains
that I'm going to skip for today because I have a couple of other features in mind
and they're going to take a little bit of take a little bit of time to get to.
So right now I'm going to take a water break
because you've got to hydrate, you've got a nutrient, it's about 97.
And so I'm going to gulp some of this water, well, not this water I'm looking at
because you'd be nasty out of my own water bottle.
And I'll rejoin you here a moment.
Okay, I lied.
The top of the upside down water fountain area is just too glorious to pass up.
Let's just take in a minute.
I just dip my hand in the water. Am I allowed to do that?
It's just so cool and chlorineish.
I hope the microphone captures this because it's just so nice.
Okay, moving along.
That was fun.
All right, well, we couldn't not stop.
at France because one of my all-time favorite water features, water fountains.
Take a minute, take a listen. We're in the shade. Can you smell the chlorine?
Mmm. This fountain is always just so nice.
Surrounded by blooming white crepe myrtle trees and the buildings of France around you.
Just lovely. Okay friends, let's march onward to Morocco. A couple of things we need to catch there,
and then we plan on ending up in Japan. Let's go.
Alright, here we are in the Kingdom of Morocco.
Near the central Plaza fountain here.
All bedazzled in blue and white and yellow tiles.
This is a subtle fountain.
But the sound is fantastic and even the colors look cooling.
Deep breath in.
Hold.
And out.
Okay, let's press on.
All right, we have made it to Japan.
It's beautiful.
over here we're currently sitting by the koi pond all the little fishies over
there swimming around black and yellow and orange and hopefully you can hear the
waterfall in the distance and we're going to head uphill and sample all of this
area as we end up together come on it gets quiet over here this is a bamboo
thicket to our left which is an eating area and it is calm
and peaceful and very very shaded and we're going to come up here to a rustic looking wooden bridge and the water flows under and you can hear the little wooden bamboo noisemakers too if you've never been up here this whole area is a masterpiece you come to the very top and that's where the cat's sort of grill is in the seating area but it is all surrounded by
immaculately maintained gardens and water flowing everywhere.
It is fantastic.
Along with some old school pavilion ambience, can't beat that.
Before we sign off today, I just want to mention that we are listener-supported.
We used to have Patreon.
We decided to go another route.
More directly connect with you guys.
And so in the show notes, as always, there is a button you can click.
And it is a way for you to add a dollar or two to our dole.
Whip Fund. It uses Apple and Google Pay. So just a double click on your phone, you can send us a
couple of bucks. It goes to support podcast hosting, equipment, et cetera. And honestly, thank you so
much for all of those of you who have already sent us a little bit of your hard-earned money.
We really appreciate it. Well, my friends and podcast fan, it has been a lovely day here at Epcot,
hot, but we sought out the best places to chill, soak in some water features.
Appreciate you hanging out with me.
As always, wherever you are, I hope you're well.
And as always, we end with the hope and the promise that there is a great big, beautiful tomorrow out there for each of us.
We'll see you.
And another one of those tomorrows on a future episode of Walk About the World.
