Walkabout The World - A Disney Podcast - Epcot Walkabout For Some Early Autumn Retrofuturistic Vibes
Episode Date: September 27, 2022Hello Travelers! This week we are back in Disney's Epcot Center - the edutainment capital of Walt Disney World. We start off near Spaceship Earth, capturing the relaxing ambiance of the fountain and t...he entrance area music. We then wander over past the Seas, and on to the Land Pavilion, where we (of course) ride the land and give you a few snippets. We end up NOT recording the Creations Shop because it was just kinda crowded and loud and you woudn't like it. Finally, we end finish up the episode near the new Guardians of the Galaxy ride in the Wonders of Xandar Pavilion. Stay tuned after the signoff for some sounds of the pavilion and the Xandarian star fighter! As always, use good listening devices as we always record in 4 channel surround sound. We hope you enjoy the episode and thanks so much for following along! Look us up at @WalkaboutWDW on Instagram and drop us a note to say hi! Find our producer Josh also on Instagram at @TheSteele. Say hi to our west coast correspondent Ric at @opticaljedi. Lastly give a shout to our Orlando correspondent Pete at @neverlandlocal. You can now also drop us at line at contact@walkabouttheworld.com. Say hi, give us some suggestions on things you'd love to hear, or even record your own 'Hello Traveler' show open when you are out and about, and we'll work it into a future show!

Hello travelers, Epcotters, Epcotians, people of Epcot, welcome back to Walk About the World
and Epcot Center and Heather is with me.
Hi Heather.
Hi guys. We are back in Epcot Center and Heather is with me. Hi Heather. Hi guys.
We are back in Epcot for the first time in a long time. I don't even know how long it's been since I've been back here.
But I needed a hit and I'm guessing you did too.
And so, as is our usual, we're not ambitious.
We're going to hang around here around the central fountain here
with Spaceship Earth in view. Actually, we're sitting in the shadow of Spaceship Earth right
now because even though it's almost October, it's still 90 degrees. It feels lovely here.
There's a breeze. The Epcot pavilion flags are directly in front of me. Spaceship Earth to the
right, fountain behind me. Stick around with Earth to the right. Fountain behind me.
Stick around with us and we're just going to soak up some atmosphere of Epcot.
We may take you along with us to the Creation Store here in a minute too.
Here we go. The Røde Røde Røde The water is very clear. I'm going to show you the view from the top of the tower. The water is very clear. The The Ravnig The city is a picture of my name. I'm going to take a picture of my name. The Thank you. Thank you. LSp4 2.70 ¶¶ so The La montaigne est fatigante, il pavimento est fortissimo, il pavimento est fortissimo. L'esprit de l'esprit The The station is over there. Oh, there's a station right there. L'Empereur de la France The If that doesn't make you feel better,
well, then I have failed you.
Because it made me feel better.
We're currently sitting right under the monorail track and listening to the awesome Epcot music.
Yes, I do miss the old stuff, but this new stuff is pretty good too.
And we just saw Monorail Red go all the way around.
And I will never cease to be a little kid watching saw monorail red go all the way around and uh i will never cease to be a
little kid watching the monorail i just love it have i mentioned that the monorail freaks me out
when i'm riding on the the real the really high rails i call it the sticks when you're at magic
kingdom freaks me out whatever but here it doesn't freak me out and i love it i love to watch it roll
so um we're going to take a walk over towards the land because i can't not go to the land when uh
we're here we are going to go to the to the connection store here in a few let's take a
walk over to the land i'm not going to burden you with the uh empty nothingness between here and
there but catch up with you here in a second. Here we go.
We have to stop by the seas.
I'm going to take a picture of this for you.
Welcome to the Living Seas.
Now known as the Seas with Nemo and Friends.
Surrounded by a border of sea grape, which I told you grows in Adventureland, too.
Stop rolling your eyes. I like talking about plants.
It is surprisingly not miserable right now.
Okay, and we're going to go from here over to the land. And from where we were by Spaceship Earth over to here, there is zero ambience now.
Am I right?
There was nothing.
Yeah, there's nothing.
So I'm glad we skipped it.
Let's go to the land.
Here we go.
Welcome to the Land Pavilion.
Man, I love it in here.
Here's Awesome Planet to the right with the wall carpet.
Never been in there.
Well, I mean, I've been in there to see the wall carpet, not to see Awesome Planet.
Should we do that?
These are the things that I think,
you know what, nobody's going to care about Awesome Planet, but maybe you do. Tell us,
you can tell us. Garden Grill, straight ahead, smells delicious. Also, I've never done.
I almost feel embarrassed to admit that. That's on our list. Heather and I have a list of Disney restaurants we've never done,
and we want to hit some of them soon.
We kind of put all that off during the dark times,
but we're going to start taking some of these in.
All right, let with the land. The approaching storm may seem violent and destructive to us, but to nature, it's a new beginning in the cycle of life.
It just never gets older. One of those living systems is the rainforest, home to the most amazing concentration of
life on our planet.
These dense and beautiful forests cover only a tiny portion of the Earth's surface, but
they contain more than half of its plant and animal species.
Rainforests are also extremely rich in productive living systems, providing us with oxygen, food, land, discovering better ways to grow food that
will assure both human and environmental well-being. and remember, we're all part of the same group of people,
and besides that, we believe in using different brands,
like Ladybugs and Losses, to control this.
In the farmlands across America, we're learning that by plowing under vegetation
containing natural fertilizers, we can enrich the soil without the use of chemicals.
In arid regions, we're learning to produce food on desert seacoasts by developing and planting crops.
Houses represent just a fraction of the work being done worldwide to produce bountiful harvests for our growing population. Scientists,
farmers, and even backyard gardeners are doing their part to improve the quantity
and quality of foods that we all rely upon. Together we can continue to find
more ways to increase food production and protect our precious natural environment. Only then will we truly be
living with the land.
Not sure if you can hear it, but we are right across from Journey into
Imagination and what I call the Upside Down Water Fountain.
Water feature.
And directly across from Imageworks and the Leaping Fountains, which are leaping.
And I hope you enjoyed that little bit of the land.
Didn't record the whole thing because, you know what, we've done that numerous times.
But a couple of little pieces are always nice and it was
frosty ac and wonderful gardens and i just love it we stopped and got a little bite to
eat at sunshine seasons and now we are on our way over to creations shop Thanks for hanging out with us today.
Sitting near the base of the Zandarian Starfighter,
near the entrance to Guardians of the Galaxy Cosmic Rewind.
Hope you enjoyed our little adventure in Epcot today, a brief one.
Got to poke into a few things.
We were looking for a specific item in the creation shop
and didn't find it.
So be it. Still, it was a good trip out.
And Heather
and I are going to work our way out of the park, but we
wanted to say goodbye and thank you.
