Well, hello, travelers. Or should I say aloha, travelers? Because you are here with me at Disney's Polynesian Village Resort. Hey, if it's your first time listening, welcome to Walk About the World. If you've been a traveler for a while, well, I'm so sorry. Thanks, guys, for being with us, and welcome back, and thank you as always. My name is Josh, and I'll be your host for this episode. And what's the plan, you may ask?

As Indiana Jones so eloquently said, I don't know, I'm making it up as I go. We're here at the Poly, so perhaps we'll see if we can get into Trader Sam's and maybe see what we can hear in the Grotto. And then perhaps we'll hop a monorail over to Magic Kingdom for a bit and see what's new over there. So hope you stick around with us and see where we end up. Right now we are upstairs at the Polynesian, just inside from the monorail station. To our right is Moana Mercantile, the shop.

To the left, Kona Cafe and the other Kona incarnations of that particular restaurant. Looking over the railing at the Maui sculpture. Love that little guy. If you're of a certain age, you might remember when there was a beautiful, towering, rainforest waterfall in the lobby. That was just awesome. Maui's awesome too, but he's a different kind of awesome. Let's head down and see if we can hop into Sam's. Around the corner past Tambu Lounge and Ohana, which smells delightful right now. I can smell the bread pudding. On your way to Sam's, don't forget to

look at all the awesome memorabilia behind the glass on the bamboo walls. Record albums. Hawaiianette. Annette sings Songs of Hawaii.

I like this one better than the one in Disneyland. It's a little more intimate and dark. I like this one because of the time period. 50's. A little more 50's. Very.

And the uh, first 20,000 leagues nod because we had that. I hope that's everything. High up above the bar yeah, that's probably one of my favorite props those the Ned lands turtle guitar And the helmets there's the dive helmet. I'm putting on a pearl and see if I got a black pearl. Have you ever got a black pearl? Me either. Although when Pete and I were here once, the bartender made a really mean joke

that made the person think they were getting the blackboard. And then at the last second... If you've never seen it, way up in the rafters, hanging from the ceiling, is another extinct attraction, not just the Nautilus, but the keys from Mr. Toad are up there. You can't see it from where we're at. You'll have to go closer to the bar. I'm going to sing. I was telling you that I went to the beach today at the bathroom. There were some little kids who did not agree with him.

And I was like, oh, you know what? He's like, I'm good. I'm like, no. I already heard that. Have you heard me? Have you heard me? Yeah. And he's like... I brought some more of the favorite sacrifices, beverage, and the burning of the crown of the King of the Lord. I need you to get forgotten, and I hope to see you soon.

I need you all to hit the other team. Are you ready? Oh I don't like the getting wet part. Alright, you want to see how long I can hold my ride over? Yes! Never said I was any good at it. What? Thank you, we love attention. So, the time right now is 7.49. What does that mean to all of you? Absolutely nothing. Unless you are under the age of 21. Now, for those of you that are under the age of 21, I gotta tell you, we appreciate your business. We think you guys are pretty great, right? Right? We think you guys are amazing, right? Right?

We think you're amazing. We think you're all outstanding, so outstanding, in fact, that in 11 minutes at 8 o'clock, if you are under the age of 21, we need you to go ahead and be outstanding in our hallway. Thank you, that's your work. There we go. Trader Sam's. What do you say Jay? You want to hop on the monorail? Monorail it. See you at the Magic Kingdom.

Town Square. Evening lights. Town Square Theater to our right. We're going to stroll down Main Street. You know what we're going to do, Jay? What's that? We're going to go look at the Smelliphants. Smelliphants. I haven't seen the Smelliphants yet.

Smell our way over there? Yeah. Let's follow our nose to the Smelliphants. Speaking of smell, I'm going to go to the Smelliphants. I'm going to go to the Smopans. Speaking of smells, there's the confectionary. Very distinct. The firework crowd has already started to assemble. Sure has.

But honestly, it's not as crazy as I thought it would be. It is pretty chill. Did you know that none of the flags that are on any of these buildings down Main Street are actual official American flags? They all have, they're all historical or have missing a strive or missing a star the only one that is actually the american flag is the one on the pole at the version yeah they're uh i guess they call them banners right yes because they're not actual flags so they don't have to retreat them evening main street is the best main street we're near zora Cinderella Castle straight ahead of course.

It's lit up in its blue and pink glory. The twilight, the twilight is perfect behind it. Yes, Magic Kingdom at night is the most beautiful. We're taking a right. Avoiding the craziness of the people lined up. Yeah, the hub is crazy. The hub grass is packed.

Plus also some good smells from that dessert party. If I'm going to go hunting for firework beauty, make a right. If I'm going to go hunting for firework beauty, make a right. We're not spending space in front of the castle. If you're trying to get some ma Street, it's my best place. If you want to see the street, I know. I know how to make it there. Sounds like summer.

It's not the crazy brood of cicadas, but they are. Our chill Florida cicadas are back yeah supposed to be really bad in the Midwest like where those blooms are popping up and be everywhere Florida is not so much. Well, it certainly did cool down, so I'm glad we took that nice little break at the Polynesian because it was in the 90s today. But right now, now that the sun's down, oh, look at the moon over Tomorrowland.

Beautiful. There's a nice little breeze so I think this is the start. The Looks like there's a new paint job over here to the left over where Alien Encounter and Stitch used to be. Painted the walls. Are they doing something there? or are they just matching it? I don't know interesting take a picture for you to see

they did file and work and So maybe they are working on something in there. Lunching pad straight ahead. I'm going to take a left because we're headed to Storybook Land. What's it called? Storybook Circus. there you go. One of the best puns to the left.

Merchant of Venus. Thanks, Orak. to see. From spacecraft to monster packs, there's really nothing like today being tomorrow. Thanks, Orak. Spires of Space Mountain to the right. People Mover. Tron Blowing a lovely blue Undulating blue PeopleM were ahead.

Everybody's favorite. Womp womp. I don't know. I actually like the smell of the fumes. I know. Tomorrowland Speedway gets a bad rap. But. I have good memories as a kid, you know? Absolutely.

It's Walt's tomorrow, you know? Cosmic rays to the left. Wave it, Sunny. Come on in. We've got a song for you. Hey, Sunny Eclipse. Sunny eclipse. Got the bad tea party to the left here. All lit up. Mine train straight ahead. Making a right into Storybook Circus. Storybook. When I was a kid it was Mickey's Birthday Land.

Mickey's Star Land. Yeah. And then Mickey's Toontown Fair. I just posted something a couple weeks ago that was a childhood memory of this area. It used to have the shows, and it was the Disney Afternoon Show. And I loved it. It had tailspin and rescue rangers and duck tails. Overwhelming smell of popcorn as we enter Storybook Circus.

Popcorn stand or is it? Or is it a smell offense? Never know There they are the smell offense Is there any rhyme or reason to these smell offense nope supposedfence? Nope. Are we supposed to start somewhere or just look at them? You just look at them. Since we're right here in front of Dumbo, let's look at this. Presented by Scentsy. Smell-a-fence.

Smell-a-fence, Smell-a-fence on parade! Caramel corn? Oh yeah, I can kind of smell it. It's kind of caramel cornish. Painted in traditional popcorn pants. Red and white popcorn. How many are there? There's one. Oh. This one smells fruity.

Frosty pants. Yeah, it's a snow cone. He's got his rainbow belly and frosty pants. Oh, I get it. Oh, he's a snow cone. Cute. Colorful body, snowy pants. Cross from that one. Oh see, I think we were supposed to start here.

Because this one's the one that says Smell-O-Fence on parade. It's Butterscotch! Yep, you really can. Oh wow, that one is intense. Yeah, that's sweet. Well, Tokyo got these amazing lands and incredible attractions and we got glorified bathroom Lemonade, I would assume? Yup. I wonder what's on the other side. It's winning the blue edition. Yep, I got my phone.

In this one we got a gumball machine. Here's your water elephant spraying you with water. I'll bet this was popular during the daytime today. Oh, I see another one. I missed one. Gotta go up the stairs, see if I can avoid being sprayed by the elephant here they got me how rude they put it right in front of the stairs Ah, this one's cotton candy. In front of Pete's silly sideshow. We're going to go a different way this time so we don't get wet. Oh, there's one more over on the other side. So I didn't see them all. I missed one. What's this one, Jay?

What's he supposed to be? Churro? Something. Maybe a churro. It's hard to tell because we're here during the evening time. I'll bet they're easier to see at night. They are lit nicely but... The stripes of the churro with the sugar and then this is... His pants are the paper you hold it with and then that's the chocolate dipping sauce on top.

And still, I'll bet if Disneyland had Smell-iphants on parade, their churro Smell-iphant would be better than ours. They're crap. Is that all of them? There's one over there. Oh, there's one over there too. So there's three of them around Pete's a corn dog. That's the smell I could have done without. Yeah, I'm not thrilled about this smell.

It's not great. That's the toilet part. I will not be purchasing a corndog-scented, scentsy candle or air freshener. Woo. We can't all be winners. Yeah, I think that's all of them. So there. Smell-o-fins on parade. The biggest and greatest addition to Magic Kingdom. We always get the best stuff. The greatest technology. I think we'll do...

Let's see. Speaking of new things at Magic Kingdom, I wonder if the music is playing over at Tiana's. I need to find out. Yeah, I know they've been testing it, so let's walk over there. They had the evacuation sound earlier today.

Oh. Yeah. Alright, let's head over to Frontierland and see what we can hear. Yeehaw! Alright, entering Frontierland. Very dark over here. Jamboree is without a marquee sign right now. Looks like it's covered up.

Getting ready for what's to come. Soon, I think. Sometime this summer. And Pecosville is still running strong. Yeah, they haven't... That's gonna be beignets. I think. Sometime this summer. And Pecos Bill is still running strong. Yeah, they haven't. That's going to be beignets. Yeah, they haven't replaced it with Tiana.

The lighting, purple and green. Purple and blue and green lighting. Let's see. Is there any music playing over here? I can see the light from the bottom. They are running it.
