Well good morning travelers. Jay here. Beautiful Sunday morning and I've decided that I would
love to take everybody on one of my almost weekly rituals. It's something that I like to do by myself
and I thought maybe some of my friends would enjoy this. It's paramount to my Disney religious
experience and my Sunday morning ritual. So today we're gonna visit some of my favorite places,
talk about some wonderful Walt influence
that still exists at Walt Disney World, and have a good time.
So come on with me, we're going to start over here in the Polynesian.
Usually my trips to the Magic Kingdom usually begin with the Polynesian.
Nothing like starting your day with a
trip to Kona Cafe. And of course the beautiful sounds the water features. So
let's go!
As you approach the Polynesian the fountains as you cross the bridge into the resort are amazing. I know it's
not a water feature Wednesday but if you're ever over here stop and ponder.
It's pretty relaxing. the The The Well travelers, we're going to board the monorail today and see what we can catch over here
at the Magic Kingdom.
I love going right at the beginning of the morning.
So many cool things are going on on Main Street.
So hopefully we'll catch some fun things and see what's going on.
I'd love to invite you to enjoy the docile sounds of the monorail as we head on over there.
Make a couple of stops.
Enjoy that anticipation of entering the Magic Kingdom. are standing please hold on to the slipper handra we're flying by the brand new Polynesian Tower.
It's completely finished.
It's very pretty.
And I understand it has some stunning firework views.
And of course, the Grand Floridian never disappoints. Please exit via the handrail. Please open your hand and watch the staff. Thank you.
Before you leave, please move all the way across your car.
Please wait for everyone.
Please wait for everyone.
Please wait for everyone.
Please hold on to the handrail as you leave.
Please wait for everyone.
Thank you.
Please wait for everyone.
Please wait for everyone.
Please offer a hand, note, and a special ticket.
Please or a ticket, please pull on the handrail and exit the train.
The line will depart momentarily.
Thank you. Alright travelers, our short little journey on the Monorail has come to a close and I
can hear the bells of the Walt Disney Railroad hanging in the background.
Let's head on in and enjoy a beautiful sunny morning at the Magic Kingdom is one of the best. I love the transportation of coming from the parking lot and having to go through all of the different gates.
So you feel like you've actually traveled somewhere different, somewhere new.
I know you all appreciate and love that.
When you walk up to the front gate and the train is there, it is the most magical.
Fun little tip about the train.
If you come and you get on the very last train on Main Street before it closes,
they will let you ride around twice.
They make everybody get off, and they will tell you that
the front of the park is the last stop.
But it isn't.
They will let you stay on for two more stops. They will just tell you that it is not a round trip.
It's a wonderful way to ride the train and have nobody else on the train with
you. You will have to get off at Fantasyland because that's where they
back the train in for night storage. But it's awesome, quiet, beautiful ride and
it's one of those little secrets of you can find even on a busy park day a moment of solitude one that I
think that Walt would have loved himself. Alright let's head into the park.
Enough about trains for right now. Hi. Thank you. Have a good day. Have a good day. Have a good day.
Have a good day.
Have a good day.
Have a good day.
Have a good day.
Have a good day.
Have a good day.
Have a good day.
Have a good day.
Have a good day.
Have a good day.
Have a good day.
Have a good day.
Have a good day.
Have a good day.
Have a good day.
Have a good day.
Have a good day.
Have a good day.
Have a good day.
Have a good day. Have a good day. Have a good day. Have a good day. Have a good day. Your finger, your point. Bye bye. Thank you.
Thank you so much.
Thank you.
I know I said I would stop talking about trains,
but they have the yellow cars out today.
You don't see those a lot.
It's usually the green or the red. So I love the yellow cars. They're really
really pretty and because they don't get used a lot they're always pristine
looking.
Right out the gate here, first thing you see when you come into Main Street is one of the
cars.
They love to bring out the cars in the morning, especially on the weekends.
I've actually never seen the cream colored one.
That is, it's really pretty.
So if you've ever looking for a free fun ride
around Main Street, come in the morning
grab one of the cars
and jump on in. They're more than happy
to give you a man. Just speaking with Amanda about the reasons why our cream colored yellow colored cars
not out very often.
She said it's the hardest clutch to maneuver.
So it doesn't get taken out a
lot and that's okay. Sometimes it's nice to have those rare things you don't see
all the time. Makes you appreciate them all the more when you do get to see them.
Here she comes around the corner. Ha ha ha ha! Well, let's head up Main Street and over to Tomorrowland and see what's going on with tomorrow. Yay!
Close out a national day, remember we're the Dapper Dancers! I must say one of the things I do love about coming this early in the morning is you really
don't get this sun vantage point on the castle. It gives it a
beautiful ethereal color. I think it's really just gorgeous. Come in the morning
and you're rope dropping Magic Kingdom, just stop and look at it. The new colors
on the castle are pretty striking and I really love the rose the rose the rose
gold and gray combination. It gives a little bit
more of a fantasy. I know that there are some people out there that really do miss just
the plain gray and blue, but I do think that it adds to the fantasy, the color scheme.
I really do love it. It's so pretty in this light.
Casey's is not open yet and I'm thinking I might go see if the egg roll cart is open.
Just so we can have a little bit of breakfast.
It's a long 20 minute trip through tomorrow if we get over to Carousel Progress.
I love to cut through Tomorrowland Terrace on my way over to Tomorrowland.
So part of my ritual on Sunday mornings is to head over to the People Mover and the Carousel of Progress and enjoy those two things.
Both are very much Walt ideas.
There was the People Mover in the original Disneyland and as I'm sure you're aware Carousel of Progress which was a World's Fair attraction was
originally moved to Disneyland first before it was then moved over here to
its permanent location here at Disney World.
So I think we're going to start with the people mover today and take a zip around Tomorrowland
see what's going on. This is the TTA Blue Line, non-stop service around Tomorrowland.
Here we go.
Let's take a spin around Tomorrowland, Travers.
Greetings, Intergalactic Travers. Welcome aboard the People Mover, presented by Enterprise. I'm R5, your guide aboard this highway-less guide.
The absolute best way to see Tomorrowland.
And my stars, is there ever lots to see.
From spacecraft to monster labs, there's really nothing like today in Tomorrowland.
For your safety, if you have wings, jet packs, or gravity polarizers,
please do not take flight on the board.
Thank you.
The next station is Tomorrowland Urban Plan and Star Traders. Transfer to Green and Red Line.
Don't worry, your express train keeps on rolling through the future.
Right by two of my favorite spots.
First up, Front Rest City. Walt Disney's amazing dream for a community of tomorrow.
Did you know that our city is inspired at cop and a lot of the visionary ideas throughout
Walt Disney World.
Look, there's even a tiny people mover.
I wonder if that means there's a tiny bull rack.
Now we're going to go.
Wow.
On your right is Star Trainers,
home to the greatest goods in the galaxy.
Except actual stars.
Those aren't home the only ones sold.
Now approaching Tomorrowland Speedway and Tron Lightcycle Run.
I love a good circuit, and these are two of the best tracks of the cosmos for a bit of light speedy competition.
Attention all visitors from Galaxy F31, please contact Mr. Jones at the control tower to
confirm your flight to the moon.
Thank you.
Did you wave as the other train went by? I hope you did.
Attention all visitors from Galaxy M31, please keep forward facing attention all screw your
oncoming vehicles.
Thank you. Now approaching Tomorrowland Transit Authority station.
My fellow sentient life forms, our people-mo the journey has here to come full.
Thanks for riding with us, it's been a pleasure to have you.
And even though you conclude, this is always my favorite part.
Because now is the time, now is the best time to go out and explore tomorrow.
It's the day. See you in the future.
Currently right now one of the rides that are down is the Astro Orbiter.
They have completely dismantled the Astro Orbiter.
There's nothing left up there.
The planets are gone, the ride is gone, the spaceships are gone.
My hope is that they will absolutely try to fix and get everything working again.
The planets used to rotate and spin and it was just a beautiful centerpiece for Tomorrowland.
My hope is that they are trying to refurbish it so that it will look as gorgeous as it
did the day when they opened the park.
Alright travelers, now that we're done with the people mover, the next part of my ritual
is to head on over to the Carousel of Progress.
So let's do that.
I love the Carousel of Progress. So let's do that. I love the Carousel of Progress.
This is one of the few things here at Disney World that
truly has Walt's stamp on it. He was a part of it.
He was there while they were making it. And of course,
as I said before, it didn't originate here at Walt Disney World.
It is a World's Fair attraction, moved to Disneyland,
and then moved to Disney World when it opened in 1971.
Our show still revolves around the same theme, and that's progress.
May the century begin. Dream away, fantasies dream, that's so sharp,
In mamas is free, to find the far,
And when it becomes a reality, it's a big come true,
You and me, so there's a great big beautiful tomorrow,
Shining at the end of every day It's a great big beautiful tomorrow
Just stop dreaming away
Ah, it looks like the Robins are getting ready to celebrate Valentine's Day today.
What year is it? Oh, right around the turn of the century.
Believe me, things couldn't be any better than they are today.
Yes, sir, buildings are towering now as high as 20 stories.
Moving pictures flicker up on a big screen.
We have almost 8,000 automobiles in this country,
and we can travel by train from New York to California in less than seven days.
And I even hear tell about two brothers from North Carolina
who are working on some kind of flying contraption.
It'll never work.
Closer to home, we've now got gas lamps, a telephone,
and the latest design in cast iron stove.
And that reservoir keeps five gallons of water hot
and just three buckets of coal.
Oh, that sure beats chopping wood.
And isn't our new ice box a beauty?
Look at that, holds 50 pounds of ice.
Nope doesn't sour as quick as it used to.
And our dog, Rover, here keeps the water
in the drip pan from overflowing.
It wasn't too long ago, we had to carry water from a well.
And thanks to progress,
we've got a pump right here in the kitchen. Of course we keep a bucket of water handy to prime it with. Yes sir, we've got
everything we need to make life easier. Say mother, I was reading about a fellow
named Tom Edison who's working on an idea for snap-on electric lights.
Electric lights? No more kerosene, no more gas. Haha, Sarah sure gets the core of the apple.
But we do have this new wash day marble.
Now it takes me only five hours to do the wash.
Imagine, it used to take two days.
Well that's right folks, now Sarah has time for other things like...
Like canning and cleaning the oven.
Yes dear.
Oven's don't just clean themselves.
I know dear.
And they probably never will.
Now if you'll excuse me,
we've got to get the laundry off the line
before it starts raining cats and dogs.
Woof! Woof!
Don't worry Rover, she didn't mean real dogs.
Besides it's not going to rain today.
My Lombego isn't anything like-
I'm not going to I couldn't, though.
Oh, look at that, I'm dumb.
All you have to do is put your wash on the line, right?
Oh well, the sister-in-was-what-anyway.
Wow, wait, look at that!
Now, James, I thought I told you to ask my permission before using my new stereo scope.
It's not a toy, you know.
Well, ah, so that's what a ninja friend and a ninja cute, eh, Dad?
Oh, shit.
Knock out.
She's the star of the new world's fair in St. Louis.
And you put that away before your mother finds it.
Aw, Dad.
You heard me.
Well, we have one of those new talking machines.
Now that is something.
It plays music right here in our home.
There's a great big beautiful tomorrow.
She keeps that thing going all day.
Progress.
Oh, Papa.
Yes, Patricia?
Papa, all these people.
I'm indecent.
Don't worry, Patricia. They're friends.
That's our teenage daughter. She's getting ready to go to a valentine's dance across town on one of those new horseless trolleys.
I think it's very romantic for taking Mother out for Valentine's Day this year.
Well, you know what kind of sport I am.
I only hope I have an evening as romantic as yours and mine.
Now you be home by nine o'clock, daughter, you hear me?
Yes, father.
Oh, well, with all this talking, I've worked up quite a thirst.
I think I'll take one of those new fangled trolleys down
at the drugstore soda fountain and meet the boys
for a cold sarsaparilla.
Oh, I'm sorry, I forgot.
We're drinking root beer now.
Same kind of thing, different name.
Well, that's progress for you and
Speaking of progress And tomorrow is just a dream away And there's a dream that's a star
And if you follow the dream, you'll find the star
And when you realize the reality, it's a dream come true
For you and me, it's a dream that's a dream
In the world tomorrow
Shining at the every anthem every day
And we're great, thank you to Bunchawarra, that's the dream of it
Phew, boy, how to support the jama'i we've had in years
We've come a long way though since the turn of the century, over twenty-some odd years ago
You know that final fella, Charles Bloomberg?
He's about to fly a single wing airplane all the way across the Atlantic.
He's never gonna make it.
And sports stadiums are springing up all over.
And boy, nobody hits that old horse island like that new fella, Beg Rube.
Jazz music is the cat's man. And here's a little hands in the paper for Monsignor,
who'll be starring Al Jolson in this film,
and sing. Boy, I've got to see that.
There goes Schwartz in his Huffmobile.
He sure loves that horn. You know, in my new Essex,
I've got an electric starter. Now I don't have to crank.
We can travel from New York to Los Angeles by train in only three days.
And we've got a house full of new electrical servants.
Mr. Edison sure added life to our homes.
Well, there you go, a fuse.
That's the third one this week.
I lie fuses by the case.
Uh-uh.
And I blow that little never, but again.
Oh, he did it again.
I'm going to give that thing a real hard wet ball.
Easy, Rover.
Jimmy, hurry up with that fuse.
Shucks. Every time he has company, he blows a fuse.
And guess who always has to change it?
I heard that, young man. I heard that.
Oh, well that's more like it.
John, yours is the last costume I've got to finish before the parade starts.
Sarah's Ladies Club is responsible for our town's Fourth of July celebration tonight.
She's got us all roped
into performing in their program. And I decided we're going as George and Martha Washington, dear.
Oh, the father of our country. That's a role that really fits me. You know, I'm so glad we installed
an electric light fixture here on the porch because it's just too darn hot to be sewing inside.
Yes, Sarah. You know, next year I'd like to go as Benedict Arnold.
Wait until you see what I've got planned for the fireworks show tonight.
Robert, don't interrupt while Sarah's interrupting.
And guess who volunteered to choose the music for the program?
I did, Pop. Listen to this.
Oh, that's a nice tune, Jimmy. You know, with our new Crossley radio set, we can get news and big time entertainment
from all over the country, even Pittsburgh.
But we're starting to arrive downtown for a spectacular Fourth of July parade and fire
rules event.
Meet with the...
Oh, Patricia. Yes, Father? for a spectacular Fourth of July parade and fire rules event. Meet with people who will...
Oh, Patricia?
Yes, Father?
Better get a move on. The radio says folks are arriving downtown.
Do I really have to go?
If my new boyfriend, Theodore, sees me in this,
it'll scare him away!
Oh, dear. If that happens,
you'll always have that torch you can carry for him.
Ha ha ha!
What, Father? Calm down, torch you can carry for him. Oh, Father.
Calm down, Rover. I was only kidding.
By the way, we have indoor plumbing now. Oh boy, that's really great on cold nights.
Especially for our perennial house guest, Uncle Orville.
Uncle Orville's taken over the coolest spot in the house, of course, and he's rigged up a real clever contraption.
He calls it air cooling.
Too bad he's not reading the help wanted ads.
No privacy at all around this place.
Sorry, Orville.
You know, considering all the...
Oh, coming Martha, as I was saying.
Considering all the conveniences we now have, I'll say that we're really on easy street
these days.
It just can't get any better.
Just goes to show you how much we can do. I was saying, considering all the conveniences we now have, I'll say that we're really on easy street these days.
It just can't get any better.
It just goes to show that... And tomorrow, and tomorrow, sets the dream away
And as you dream, the passing star will come to you
When you're with my heart, and when it becomes a reality
It's a dream come true for you and me
So there's a great big beautiful tomorrow
Shining at the end of every day.
There's a great big beautiful tomorrow, can't shy dream away.
Well, it's another Halloween here in the fabulous 40s. Everything is better than ever now.
And we've got some amazing new wonders around the house to prove it.
For instance, our refrigerator holds more food than ice cubes.
And thanks to our automatic dishwasher,
I don't have to dry the dishes anymore after supper.
Gives Rover and me more time to enjoy our evening stroll together.
Woof, woof, woof, woof!
Later, boy. Oh, and, oh, oh. Later, boy.
Oh, and here's something else that's new.
I just heard a new term today
on the radio. Fella says
we've got something now called
the rat race.
Did you ever hear of them? It sure describes
my life. I'm involved in
something now called commuting.
I drive out of the city for work
all day and then turn right
around and drive all the way back and the highway is crowded with fellow rats doing
the same thing. That's what they call progress, dear. Yeah, I guess she's right. But we do
have television when it works. Gives you something to do after you come home. I kind of like
it, you know. A guy named John Cameron Swayze gives us all the news and then they have all this singing and
dancing. A lot of fluff, but it's fun. You know, I predict a day when millions of people
will learn Latin and Greek sitting in front of their TV sets. I'm awake, dear.
Give me the left, you big bloke!
Ah, yes, the new age of electronic civilization is upon us. Hey, Dad, what do you think of my Jekyllator?
Oh, boy, that's scary!
That's because I'm using my beautiful sister Patti to picture for a model.
That's because I'm using my beautiful sister Patty to picture for a model.
Down Rover. Jim, Rover appreciates your joke. Now, you're always kidding poor Patty. She's certainly prettier than either of you.
You hear that? My daughter Patty is using that old exercise machine she rescued from
the attic. It was all the rage in the 20s. Grandma of course had to have one. Didn't
work then, doesn't work now. Cons a real swell. You should get the drive.
Oh, and he left with an ugly wife and a hot boy. And then the two of them were really
interested in him. And then the boy went crazy.
Oh, and the girlfriend went crazy. What? What?
He's coming and said, this is worse than prison.
And then the man said, well, now you're going to get married. Oh, poor Howard. I wonder what they said about me when I was dating Sarah.
You're lucky, Rover. You don't have to date.
Well, we're caught up in the do-it-yourself craze these days.
We're remodeling our basement of something called a rumpus room,
and we're looking forward to a few rumpuses out there
as long as they don't get out of hand.
John, this papering is getting out of hand.
I could use a little help.
Now, Sarah, didn't I set up
that clever automatic paint stirring machine for you?
Yes, John, you're a genius.
Of course, this will ruin my food mixer. Not that you'd care.
Oh good old Sarah, always the last laugh.
What happened Sarah?
Oh you and your progress. That paint mixer of yours just sloshed paint across my room. I'm a puppet, a broom.
Now how do you like that? How do we say if you're going to be married, marry a girl with a sense of humor?
Well, it's time to move on.
Let's cheer up Sarah by singing our song.
Come on, everybody.
There's a great big beautiful tomorrow
Shining at the end of every day
There's a great big beautiful tomorrow
And tomorrow's just a little way
Now, now, dream, and now so strong
Keep on dreaming, and life, and glory, and way
And you'll find that you're right
It's a dream found true for you and me
So there's a great, clean, beautiful tomorrow
Shining at the end of every day
There's a great day to the whole tomorrow
Just run a dream away
Isn't it a pleasant holiday?
No more turkeys in the oven, it's peaceful and quiet
Yes! 300 points, my best score yet.
Well, it was peaceful until Santa brought that new virtual reality space pilot in.
Your turn, Grandma. Let's switch the image over to the TV so the resident flying ace can show you how it works.
Now, it's a little tricky. Just use your game glove to fly behind the other guy and blast him with your laser blaster.
Laser blaster? Well, I'll give it a try.
Take a look around, Grandma. You're in the ship.
Feels like I'm really there.
Okay, get ready. You're about to blast off.
Here goes nothing.
Whoa.
Alright, here he comes.
Oh, you missed him.
Hey everybody, I'm done programming our new voice activation system.
Now all our Hussle-A-Ltems will do anything we tell them to do.
Great. Tell the refrigerator to bring me a root beer.
Well, it can't quite do that. But I'll show you something it can do.
Tree lights, 30% brighter.
Oh, that's no big deal. Anybody can do that voice activated stuff. Watch this.
Roller!
John, the oven can't respond to your voice commands now. Give it a try.
Okay, here goes. Temperature to 375.
Look at that! It even talks back!
That's me to certain certain people I know.
Yeah, right, Dad.
You're going to lose them, Grandma. Think to the right.
Remember Dad's turkey last year?
Yeah, that thing really smoked up the place when it burned, didn't it?
We ended up microwaving frozen pizzas.
Well, no need to worry about the turkey this year.
Not that an other company did anything your father tells them to do.
Oh, good shot!
Did you see that?
Dad, Grandma's up to 550 points!
Did you say 550?
Hey, she's getting the hang of that thing.
I can't believe all the new gadgets they've got now.
You know in my day...
Oh no, you're not going to tell us about the old days when you didn't even have a car phone. They've got you know in my day
Hey Trish for a while we didn't even have a house phone not to mention laser this high-def TV
Everything is automated Well, including that.
No time, she's all around this place.
Sorry Orbit. Anyway, you guys don't know how good you got it now, do you?
You know, my grandpa told me the very same thing when I was a kid.
Take that, you nit-a-fuck!
Hey, check it out, Dad. Grandma's up to 975 points.
Wow, 975! Temperature up to 975 points. Wow, 975.
Temperature increase to 975.
Bigwood, open up. Command error.
John, what's wrong with the oven?
What? Uh, uh...
Bigwood, open up. Enjoy your meal.
Anyone want some pizza?
Oh, another Christmas turkey ruin!
Man, what a game! I really smoked those guys!
Looks like I'm resident-climbing ace now!
Best two out of three, Grandma!
Later, kid!
Oh, yeah, it's fun!
What will they think of next?
Who knows?
We've got a whole new century waiting for us out there!
Yeah, and maybe sometime in the new century your father will learn how to talk to our oven.
Well, maybe by then ovens will read our minds.
But hey, as long as we're all here and happy and together for the holidays, who cares if I burn our Christmas turkey?
I do! I'm starving! Don't worry dad, someday everything's gonna be so
automated you won't ever have to cook another Christmas turkey again. There's a great thing beautiful tomorrow, and tomorrow is just beginning.
One has a dream and that's the start, he follows his dream with mind and heart.
And when it becomes a reality, let the dream come true for you and me So there's a great, beautiful tomorrow
Shining at the end of every day
There's a great, big, beautiful tomorrow
Give us a dream away
