Yeah, there we go. That's a good sign.
I was just waiting for those ringy dings. You know where we are.
Hello, travelers. Welcome back to Walk About the World.
Hey, if it's your first time traveling with us, allow me to introduce our little program.
We are your weekly audio stroll around the parks and resorts at Walt Disney World and Disneyland.
If you have traveled with us before, well, thank you so much for listening and welcome back.
Today I will be playing the role of co-host
Along with my co-star today
Your old pal
Uncle Jay
Jay, why would I introduce you as my co-star?
Where are we?
We are definitely at the corner
of Hollywood and Vine in Hollywood Studios
Here we are, you can hear the lovely sounds
of the hustle and bustle of Hollywood Boulevard
Sunset Boulevard
Take it all in for just a minute.
Just breathe it all in.
It's make you want to dance?
Anything goes.
It's so fun.
I have not been back.
to this park since, well, I don't really want to talk about it, but you know what I'm going
to talk about.
But I have not been back here since the demolition of the, well, the start of the demolition
of the Muppets Courtyard.
And so honestly, I don't think I'm ready to go that way tonight.
I think we're going to maybe go the other direction, maybe head into the edge of the galaxy
for a little bit.
or, I don't know, I just, I don't think I can, I don't think I can look at it in this state quite yet.
I guess you.
Hey, it's good steps, though.
It's good steps.
There's a lot of places to enjoy around here.
And they've been really, really big about what they're doing with rock and roller coaster, or should I say, Muppet's Roller Coaster.
So I, I am a little hopeful for that.
That could be beautiful.
That could be wonderful.
It has potential for sure.
As long as it's a wonderful, Muppety parody.
of the original ride. I'll be happy.
It will be, it will be fun to see the Muppets again at Hollywood Studios, that's for sure.
I won't keep you waiting. Let's, let's go for a walk, shall we?
You know what? I can't be at Hollywood Studios without going and checking in on my old,
my old pal Cliff, the Rocketeer.
And actually I'm wearing a Rocketeer shirt today, so I think I kind of have to.
And look, Chattanooga Chichu is definitely good walking music.
Yeah, it is.
All right, so we are currently right in front of the keystone closures,
so we're going to head over to Echo Lake area.
I'm going to say hi to Cliff.
If you don't know what I'm talking about,
Peeby's Polar Pipeline, where you can get frozen concoctions,
like a lovely frozen rum and Coke or Jack and Coke, I guess it is.
Frozen Coke.
and icies and all that good stuff.
But Peabies is a theme.
It's a nod to the 1990s.
90 or 91.
Live action Disney action film, The Rocketeer, one of my favorites.
If you've never seen The Rocketeer, you're missing out.
It is one of the best live action Disney action films.
I mean, like, seriously.
And Jay's looking at me like, uh, maybe.
Maybe. I haven't really seen it.
It's good, though.
It is good.
I'll give you that it is good, and the mid-century vibes in it are pretty awesome, and I do love that.
It's all about Hollywood, too.
So it's a nod to the early days of this park when, you know, it really was about Hollywood.
And the Rocketeer had a bigger presence back then.
But now, if you're ever looking for them, you can find one of the original stunt packs in the stunt helmets over at Peavy's Polar Pipeline.
Cliff. He's selling frozen coax.
Although I just noticed they also are selling frozen
lemonade's now, which actually looks pretty good. You love the
Minute Made Lemonade. It's refreshing. And if it's hot out,
frozen is always better.
All right.
Got the SS down the hatch to the left.
The Hyperion Theater over the
umbrellas, the blue umbrellas in front of the
SS down the hatch.
We had to turn left and do something a little more classy
and head towards the Brown Derby, one of my favorites.
Haven't had the Cobb salad.
You really should.
It's delicious.
It's iconic.
Standing here in front of the dedication plaque
of the Disney MGM Studios
dedicated on May 1st, 1989
by Michael Eisner.
The cameraman statue
to the Hollywood
that never was and always will be.
That was my park.
And that's why we love it.
That's why we love it.
Ooh, you know what I want to do?
I want to go over to the archway.
Because the archway, which originally was built to separate the theme park from the studio.
And that represented you walking into the working studio.
but they're going to be getting rid of that iconic archway pretty soon
when they start doing the art of animation attraction.
One of a Vista Light.
Yeah, it really is.
Essentially, they're turning it into a recreation of the Burbank Studio,
which is cool.
Nice to throw back to some of the history of Disney MGM Studios.
But right now, as of now, it's still the Star Wars Launch Bay,
and we're headed towards the arch
The reason I want to check out the arch
is because a lot of people don't take in the beautiful reliefs
There's reliefs on both sides on the smaller archways
And one of them, Jay, if you haven't ever looked at it,
you're going to love it if you've never looked up close
I actually am going to admit that I actually didn't know
that these reliefs were over here
So I'm really glad we're going over here
So we're going to start over here
I think there are actually copies
I think they're the same one on each side.
Yeah, they are.
Very symmetrical.
So we're going to go over to the one on the right
because there's not as many people here,
but I'll take some pictures
so you guys can see what we're looking at.
And essentially what we're looking at
is some relief sculptures of old Hollywood
that represent old Hollywood.
There's a film reel with lights
radiating from them
from the central film reels, one on each.
side. There's a Carthay circle up at the top, and then the top left and then the top right.
There's the Chinese theater. So, of course, one of them represents Disney history. Both of them
represent Disney history. The Carthay Circle, you know all about Chinese theater.
Where was the Chinese theater? Mary Poppins was Mary Poppins was the Grands. Carthet was
Seven Dwarves. Seven Dwarves. Oh, yeah, yeah. Snow White and Seven Dwarves.
It's been a long week.
It's actually kind of ironic, I think, because you've got one that brings in the live-action stuff for us.
It was a real big thing for Mary Poppitz to be live-action, and he fought awfully hard for that.
And then, of course, Snow White and the Seven Dwarves really just kicked off a lot of Disney legacy.
All right, so here's what I want to show you.
As you come down here, the detail on this thing is there's some really great details on the animation part,
because it's showing you there's an animator and there's paper
and this beautiful kind of line, you know, this line of film.
And when you look up close, each little piece of the film cell
has a little picture of Donald Duck here.
And then over here, Jay, is what I wanted to show you.
Because on the right side...
Oh, my goodness.
Who is it?
Oh, that's my boy.
There's goofy.
Looking goofy.
On the other side, it's goofy.
but the fact that they have these tiny little individual drawings it's just really a beautiful work of art
you've got the orange grows back here you've got palm trees reaching I hope they keep them
somewhere I also hope so I hope they really are going to kind of archive them or save them
and put them someplace because it's gorgeous just gorgeous so I'll take some pictures
and I'll stop talking for now and just taking some of the sounds around the archway
Just a beautiful nod to old Hollywood.
There's your magical meltdown.
Coming this way.
In beautiful surround sound.
Wouldn't be an episode of Walkabout without a magical meltdown, right?
Somebody is having the best day of their life.
You would not believe the things I've seen.
You would not believe the things I've seen.
I did.
Oh yeah.
Oh yeah.
Oh yeah.
I did.
I did.
Go there.
Over there.
He switched.
Oh yeah.
Early evening, clouds are rolling in, but it's cooling off a little bit, which is nice.
Sun's going down.
Dark clouds, but no rain as of yet.
I think it's got to pass over.
But the lights are starting to come on.
That's the best part.
Look, I love Disney at night.
There is nothing more magical.
Then walking around Disney at night, it's really one of my favorites, to be honest.
Especially down Hollywood Boulevard and the neon's all light up.
The theater's lit up.
I guess I just thought about this with the Archway, right?
We have a replica of Gromans here on the East Coast,
and they have a replica at California Adventure of the Carthay
on their Hollywood section there.
We have one, too.
It's just much smaller.
Yes.
It's not a restaurant, so it's a shop.
All right, let's keep walking.
We're going to go under the arch.
Oh, off works.
It just redid the Mermaid Show.
Some people like it, some people hate it.
You'd be the judge.
But, you know what?
You want to watch the Mermaid Show?
Let's watch the Mermaid.
That's what we'll give you.
We'll give you a little bit of the Mermaid Show.
Little Mermaid, a musical adventure.
Formerly known as
Voyage of the Little Mermaid.
So a little name change, new sign,
new show.
updated theater
there are some really cool
cool things about it
so let's pop in line
welcome in
thank you
oh thanks
I only have to run
six miles
I'm right
in the queue
on the walls
at the sound stage
you're going to see
you know
picture
of stills from the Little Mermaid film as you walk into the pre-show area,
a.k.a. the air conditioning.
If I don't think there's a. Yes, you want to see inside of the place. Thank you.
And then when you walk into the pre-show area, there's some nice lighting go-boes that.
that are giving you the underwater feel.
The walls are nice, what is that, what's that called, like a ship,
ship lap, ship lap, it's wood.
It's aged wood.
It's colorful blue, brown, aged wood.
And a tin roof.
And a tin roof.
You know, in case it rains.
So we're going to hang out here and wait for the doors to open
And then we'll give you a little bit of the show
And then we'll figure out what happens next
See in a bit
Surprise surprise
Now presenting his royal highness
And our esteemed court composer, Horatio, Phelonius Ignatius, Custaceous, Sebastian!
Thank you! I'm really looking forward to this performance, Sebastian, especially my little Ariel.
Ah, yes, she has the most beautiful vice.
if you should show up for rehearsals once in a while
we are we?
We are the daughters
great father who loves us and named us well
a quota
Katrina
A Pista, a tigna, a cello.
This is the youngest in her musical debut.
My seventh little sister, representing her two new.
To sing the songs of fashion through her voices like a bell,
She's our sister, and her song.
Ariel!
Ariel!
Ariel!
Oh, Flounder! Have you ever seen anything so wonderful in your entire life?
Whoa! Cool!
No.
No.
How do I love?
Mario.
Dad.
What's that you're hiding?
No.
You were done to the surface again, didn't you?
Didn't you?
I'm 16 years old.
I'm not a child.
Don't you take that tone of voice with me, young lady.
As long as you live under wide ocean, you'll obey my rules.
If you can I just listen.
I am never.
Never to hear of you going to the soul.
of you going to the surface again?
Is that clear?
If only I can make him understand.
I just don't see things the way he does.
I don't see how the world
that makes such wonderful things
could be bad.
Look at this stuff.
Isn't it new?
Wouldn't he think my collection's complete?
Wouldn't he think
find the girl the girl who has everything look at this trial treasure's untold how many wonders
can one have her heart looking around here you think sure she's got everything
i've got gadgets and guess what's a plenty i've got who's and what's it's the lord

Where the people are
I want to see
I'm dancing
Walking around to lose
What do you call them
Oh, feet
From the bigger fence
You know, you're too far
To fall, legs are the choir from some of the dances run.
And down the street.
What's like, what again?
A street.
I'll walk and run.
A hurriedly sail day in the sand, wander,
Wander free.
Wish I could be out of bed.
Hey there, boy.
Yeah, I know. I had to escape all that marriage talk.
It's just...
I just haven't met the right girl yet.
Believe me, Max, she's out there somewhere.
I just know it.
Okay, boy.
Hey, wait up.
I don't know when, I don't know how, but I know something's starting right well.
When I tell you
I'll see
Some in my dream
Heart of your
Sebastian?
I tried to stop him.
Ariel, what is all this?
It's my collection.
Oh, your collection.
Have you lost your mind?
Hmm.
Ariel, listen to me.
The human world, it's a man.
Life under the sea is better than anything
they got out of death.
To see, ha!
Oh no!
Ha!
Ha!
Ha!
Ha!
Ho!
To see weed is always greener
in somebody else's league.
No, but that is a big this gig.
Just look at the world around you.
Right here on the ocean floor,
such wonderful things around you.
What are is you looking for?
you look it far.
Under the sea.
Under the sea.
Under the sea.
Darling, it's better.
Don't breathe, it's wet,
it's wet.
The work of death.
Under the soul.
They blame away.
One with the mighty,
who'll try to float.
Under the sea.
And the new play the flute
and they can play the apple.
Please play the face
And the sound in the show
Oh, the bass play the boss
The ball, the ball, and show play the talk
And so that blood is
Whoa
Oh
I'm
Tell me, what is better than all this?
Oh, Sebastian, you're still
Trust me, everything you need
It's right here
I'm not a sea
Ha ha ha ha
Go
One more
Three
Oh
Oh
I'm not a sea
I'm not a sea
When does a duty
begin to begin to be music to me
What did you got?
I'm not a fight
We've got a hot station fun
If you're glad here, know how to jump here, I'm gonna see
Ha ha!
Even if you're just lucky, bucks in a rock here, I'm gonna see
Even in the city, know how to win here, that's why it's matter,
I'm gonna be lucky, now being lucky, under the sea!
Oh my!
What's your name?
What is it?
You can't speak?
Oh, that's okay.
I'm Eric.
Has he kissed her yet?
No, and there's only one day left.
You want something done?
You've got to do it yourself.
First, we've got to create the mood.
Percussion
Strings
Wings
Words
Yeah
You see her
Sitting there across the way
She don't got a lot to say
But there's something about her
and you don't know why
but she's dying to try
you want to kiss the girl
Did you hear something?
Yes, you want her
Look at her, you know you do
Possible she wants you to
There is one way to ask her
It don't take a word, not a single one
Go on and kiss the girl
She-na-na-l-la-l-la-l-la-la-la-la-la-ma my-o-eye look like the boy too shy, he gonna kiss the girl.
Shana-na-na-la-la-la-la hit that side, they get the shade too bad.
You gonna miss me girl.
You know, I feel really bad not knowing your name.
Maybe I'd try and guess.
Is it Mildrin?
Okay, okay, no.
How about Diana?
Diana?
Great.
Ari.
And him is Aryan.
Ariel.
Ariel?
Ariel?
That's kind of pretty.
Okay.
Ariel?
Shal-la-la-la-la-na-na-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha-ha.
You got to kiss the girl
You got to kiss the girl
What I do you want to kiss the girl
Go on and kiss the girl
I'm sorry.
Ariel. I'm sorry you had to lose your voice in order for me to hear you.
I love you, Daddy.
Ariel.
Eric!
Eric!

On behalf of King Triton,
On behalf of King Triton, we thank you for honoring us with your presence at today's
musical performance. Now please take all your children by the head and swim toward the exit.
We'll belong now. Another performance begins shortly and we must get ready.
We look forward to your next visit to the kingdom of Atlantis.
What'd you think of the show, Jay?
I know you haven't seen it yet.
I haven't, and that was my first time.
I'm actually pretty amazed with some of the effects.
They did a really good job of the puppetry.
I'm always amazed by puppets.
I think that's why I've always loved the Muppets,
because puppets are just cool.
The physicalness and the plausible impossibility of them.
It's so much fun.
Hey, there's some thunder.
Oh.
This storm might be coming.
Hopefully we don't get away.
I think the actual local performances were wonderful.
Absolutely.
She sounded fantastic.
And that's really nice to have that live entertainment
and have it really scream Disney.
It's like that Disney quality.
that Disney caliber. It's really good.
And her transitions from floating around the stage,
but she really does look like she's floating to like sitting on rocks and stuff.
I thought that was really, really, that was pretty clever.
Yeah, if you haven't seen it, check it out. It's worth it.
Especially if you saw the old one.
It's basically just an upgrade from the original Voyage of the Little Mermaid
with some screen, you know, for some depth effects and things like that and the projections.
If you can get through that opening scene with the...
That looks like, you know, early 2000s Barbie Princess Mermaid animation.
If you can get through that and stick through it, the rest is good.
That's my criticism.
Look, there's a lot of Barbie fans out there.
They'll be very, very happy with the beginning of that.
All right, let's keep walking.
All right, we got Walt Disney Presents, and you can meet Ariel from the live-action story,
and there's currently an Elio sneak preview.
Elio's all over the parks right now.
Just saw them in Tomorrowland.
So if you look straight ahead.
where the old entrance to
the Toy Story
Midway Mania used to be
and now it's I guess just used for special
events and stuff
Yeah, they have character meet and greet
you could be in Edna Mode back there
She has like our whole like design studio back there
Yeah, it's currently closed off
The gate is closed
There's a really cool mural
design
So Jay and I just took a few minutes to
See if we could
figure out what all of them
represented. We did pretty good. I don't think there's any
that we didn't know. I'm starting to feel like
I like Pixar cartoons a little more
because they're all Pixar cartoons.
I was like, I know all of these.
Headed into Toy Storyland. Let's take a listen.
What are he saying? Hello.
You can see.
Oh, you're going to search for a space or what?
from Roundup Rodeo as you walk by the sign.
Giddy up for barbecue, it says.
It's delicious.
Hey, Jay!
partaking in a...
Is that a cookie nom-nom-n-n-n-n-n-cook-n-n-n-n-knom?
Jack Jack's cookie-nom-n-n-n-n-s?
It's basically like a little deep-dish cookie is what it is.
It's like a cookie cake.
Cookie cake.
Now you're going to hear me nom-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-n-no.
No, I can't do that.
Jeremy would die if he heard me chewing on camera.
Or, not camera.
On Mike.
I don't do you like that, pal.
Around the outskirts of Slinky Dog Dach,
which I haven't seen going, so perhaps it's down?
Maybe there's lightning in the area.
Yeah.
One of my favorite.
One of my favorite Randy Newman scores.
And...
And...
My favorite Toy Story film.
Toy Story 2.
To our right, we are approaching the ride with the inappropriate abbreviations.
You can do the math, aliens swirling saucers.
This is a family program, so I'm not going to go there.
That's one for Walkabout After Dark.
Coming in November.
Even the restrooms are themed.
The word restrooms spelled out in scrabble tiles.
You've got the game of cooties and the cootie bugs.
Tinker toys.
Good old classic wooden blocks.
Do you suppose that kids even know what these are...
Like, have they played these games? Do they know?
No.
I mean, I hope so.
I hope...
Because they still sell, like, throwback vintage, you know, like...
I guess that depends on the parents.
True.
If the parents are out-exposed and them to vintage things, I think that they would,
because they're all very classic.
But I think the average kid is asking questions.
Here's the Pizza Planet Sylons.
Welcome by a Buzzlayer, space ranger.
You know, everything looks just a little bigger with the heaven over.
They're not really Sylons.
That's just what they look like because they get the red light going back and forth.
Battlestar Galactica.
I think it's time to go over it too.
There we all.
Come on.
I'm going to raise the train.
Come on. Domino's. The kids play with Domino's.
Do kids play with dominoes except for anything like to knock them down?
Do they actually play the game?
Like pips?
When I taught third grade, my kids used to play dominoes all the time.
You're keeping it real with these kids, playing the old school games.
It's a good counting game.
As a good teacher will.
You're all my daddy.
Well, the rain found us
The clouds did come in
Nothing bad
Just, you know
Those big old fat drops of rain
Fat, big old fat rain
This forest gum says
Dangin rain
We can't get sued for
Quoting Forrest Gump can we
I don't know
Oh I lied
It's coming down now
It feels nice.
Everyone's putting their ponchos on.
It'll be gone in a minute.
We're two Disney people.
There will be no ponchos.
I will have to protect the mic now, though,
because it's getting a little harder, so I'll see you in a bit.
Stop!
Oh, you're stuck.
Oh, you're stuck.
Oh!
Oh!
That's what we're going to be.
Oh.
Oh, yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Oh.
You know.
I'm not.
Oh.
Oh.
Don't even though.
You're going to be able to have you.
I already have you.
I already have you.
I'm going to have you.
I'm not.
I'm not.
I really feel for you.
I really feel for you.
I know.
Thank you.
Oh my God.
I didn't do it locked and I looked at the map
and I was like, oh, you can see that one.
Definitely cleared out of Toy Storyland, Jay, huh?
Yeah, it's nice.
I actually kind of like it when it rains.
People go home and then you get to park to yourself.
Just enjoy that thunder rolling in the distance.
Thank you.
Right here.
Right here, you know,
it's supposed to visit.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you.
Thank you for me, sir.
Here's your place.
It was your strong.
Thank you.
We're going to be able to be able to be.
Because I think it's a lot.
You're getting on the ride.
Oh, no.
Greetings, I come in peace.
Greetings, I come in peace.
All right
All right
All right
All right
All right
Loving that thunder in the distance for sure
Hope you guys are enjoying that
Something is coming up over here
Yeah there's a wall here
Structure wall is up
Wall between in the in the
the anti-transition from Andy's backyard into Galaxy's Edge.
There's some walls up where the, um, what's usually back there?
Is that just usually where the seating area is?
Yeah, there's usually just a seating area back there.
Welcome to Batu, travelers.
Where it seems the bright suns have turned into the wet rains.
Bright sunsets.
It actually looks kind of real with the clouds and stuff.
It actually looks very like...
Okay, that was cool because, obviously the sound is very inner, you know, the depth of the sound, it feels, it sounds like they're going flying over you.
And when that went by, the guy in front of us, like, legitimately looked behind him, looking for something that passed.
That was really cool.
Yeah, look at the lighting.
That's really cool.
It's really cool.
Let's walk around the old Black Spire outposts, shall we?
Why?
It's cold.
There,
Bipatheaval.
No.
No.
No.
No.
I don't know how much.
It's a lot of it.
Oh my.
All right?
You have a lot of it?
You can't?
Look at me.
All available to
security and poor.
Prisoner of Transport.
It won't be able to take any more
particularly else.
You said you're still about it.
Oh my gosh, you've got like 60 people.
I've got like 60 people from me.
They're not going to be.
They're not a strong-looking.
Yeah, it's right.
It's a good one.
It's good.
It's good.
The color right?
The coloration.
The coloration.
It's definitely
It's definitely clear it out of it.
It's definitely cleared out over here.
It's really cool.
because the rain, the wet ground, the reflections.
But the sky is this eerie, kind of yellowish, cloudy, gray, yellow color.
It feels like we're on another planet.
It's really cool.
I don't know if pictures will do it justice, but I'll definitely pose some pictures.
I think you can tell what we're coming up to.
Showne!
Shoo!
Sh!
Sh!
I don't know.
Oh!
I'm going to be.
I'm going to go.
We're going to be able to be.
We're going to be.
We're going to be.
We're going to be.
This counts as a water feature, right?
Just the rain dripping off of the Millennium Falcon.
We found it.
We found the raingoers for the Millennium Caval.
Watch sports for the food now.
Get it more.

No, no, like from down there, right?
With the sky.
Yeah, you're going to be free.
Mm-hmm.
You have my name?
Yeah.
And you say,
that you've got to go.
And you see how
it is?
Yeah.
Mm-hmm.

I'm not going to think about it.
