Hello, travelers, and welcome back to Walk About the World, your weekly audio stroll with a friend through the parks and resorts of Walt Disney World and Disneyland. Josh here with you today, along with my pal and friend of the show, Jay. How's it going? Where are we today? I think they already know. I mean, I would know. You can hear it.

Absolutely. I think you already know. The birds are chirping, the ducks are waddling, the fountain is flowing, Gertie is watching over us, Indy's epic finale explosion just rumbled across Echo Lake. Echo Lake is a beautiful green color. And we are here sitting on the five and dime

bench enjoying a couple of frozen beverages from Peavey's Polypipeline which means only one thing. We are of course back in the Hollywood that never was and always will be. Disney's Hollywood Studios. Our favorite. My favorite.

I love it. Especially Christmas. They did take down the Christmas decorations. I'm kind My favorite. I love it. Especially Christmas. They did take down the Christmas decorations. I'm kind of sad. I was really hoping we might get a couple more days. So here we are, middle of January, and the decorations literally just came down. So that means that I guess I need to follow my rule of taking my tree down. I tend to... Blasphemy. Yeah, I tend to take my tree down as soon as taking my tree down. I tend to... Blasphemy.

Yeah, I tend to take my tree down as soon as Disney takes theirs down. So it looks like it's time. What are we going to do today? Believe it or not, we have never recorded Tower of Terror. Really? So I think that is our goal tonight. That's a miss. Right?

Let's do it. So let's take a stroll around Echo Lake first And then make our way down Sunset Boulevard And have ourselves a Spooky good time At the Twilight Zone Tower of Terror What do you say? Let's do it, I'm all about it

Perfect stroll weather Let's go. Hollywood & Vine to our left. Next to one of my faves, Tune In Lounge. Don't put your elbows on the table. Yeah, Primetime Cafe. Hey. Reminds me of my grandmother so much. Very light crowd today. I'm going to assume that there was no one here. She's not that dramatic, but it sounds like she wants to go. She said she was going to plan on...

Dinosaur Gertie to our right. Ice cream of extinction. Indy to our left. A lot of people walk by this and don't even see. Looks like he found something. They always miss the hat on the table there. I've never seen it. There you go And I promise The Indy had on the another

All the archaeologists would you call it accoutrement accoutrement Hyperion Theatre to the left. Frozen sing-along. Headed straight into the Chinese Theater courtyard. I'm sure plenty of people know this, but this part of the park used to be a giant Hidden Mickey from above. Now it's a slightly decapitated Hidden Mickey, but you can still see the remnants. If you don't know what I'm talking about, look it up. Disney MGM Studios, aerial view it smelled good. We're working on that technology. Right?

We've been working on that since season one, you guys. Before you listen to this episode, pop a bowl of popcorn. Don't mean a thing. If it ain't got that swing. Commissary Lane to the left, swinging around into the Chinese Theatre courtyard, Mickey's railway second maybe down and lots of disappointed-looking people. Doors are closed. The doors are closed, and they're really beautiful.

You really don't get to see this view. Let's go take a closer look. Check out the doors of the Chinese Theater. They're really ornate. I didn't notice how beautiful it was. Walking over Kermit the Frog and Jim Henson's signature. Danny DeVito. C-3PO and R2-D2. Roger Rabbit.

Cool shot. Right underneath the marquee. Nice call, Jay. That is something that you definitely oft overlook, because the doors are usually open. They're gorgeous.

I don't know if I knew that. It's also where they hide the Club 33. Do you have a magic band? No? I don't either. I never wear... I have the magic band, but I never wear them. So I never get to do the... They still have all the 50th anniversary gold statues all over the parks that are still interactive.

I was going to try and grab some of that, but... Oops. Hey, there's Chip and Dale. Chip and Dale currently just hanging out, meeting and greeting just outside the Brown Derby. This is one of the projection towers for the show. oh Beautiful, beautiful pink blooming, full bloom type of boulliatry. Jeremy would be proud of me for pointing out the flora on our walkabout. Beautiful colors. Oh my gosh. I have a yellow one in my yard. Pink clouds. Oh my gosh. I have a yellow one in my yard. Pink clouds. Puffy pink clouds.

Yeah, definitely look like pink puffy clouds. They do make a mess though when they start falling. Creeper. Tababuya. We're going to swing over here by the... get you a little water feature here. The fountain before we... head down Sunset Boulevard.... A Cidade de São Paulo All right.

Taking a left down Sunset. sunset. Sunset Boulevard has some of my favorite music loops ever at a theme park so I'm just gonna mosey on down sunset and we'll take in some of the music that it has to offer. Enjoy! Thank you. to our left. And there she is straight ahead. The true beauty of Sunset Boulevard. The Hollywood Tower Hotel. It is pretty epic. Looks like a long wait, but that's good for us, because guess what?

We get to record. Let's do it. Ariana Grande had a whole thing about this being her very favorite ride, and when she heard that they were changing the theming in Disneyland, where she lives, she wrote a letter about how she was going to be very sad about that, and it was one of the things that she most loved in all her professional career and as a young child. Did she send the letter? And she was going to get all of her fans

to sign a petition. And then she said, I didn't send it. But she loves coming to Walt Disney World because she can still ride the ride that she loves so much. Here's hoping that we never change. Unless, of course, they change it to Muppets, which I'm okay with.

Just make this whole area of the park Muppets and I'll be fine. Kermit introducing like, introducing you. Picture if you will. Exactly. Fozzie Bear is the one that puts you into the elevator. Just have Kermit flailing his arms

on the way down. Who cares about story? Just make that happen. Yay! Speaking of rides that Muppets are going into, we are walking by the Rockin' Roller Coaster, which is soon to be Muppets' end. I guess I never realized the lights turned on,

Amid the glitz and the glitter of a bustling young movie town at the height of its golden age, the Hollywood Tower Hotel was a star in its own right. A beacon for the show business elite. Now, something is about to happen that will change all that. The time is now on an evening very much like the one we have just witnessed. Tonight's story, while I join, is somewhat unique and calls for a different kind of introduction. This is a maintenance service elevator, still in operation, waiting for you. We invite you, if you dare, to step aboard because in tonight's episode, you are the star. And this elevator travels directly to the Twilight Zone. I'm going to be waiting on the other side of the room, of course. The Twilight Zone. And now hands up. Everyone hands up. Very good.

You were the passengers of a most in common elevator about to ascend into your very own episode of the Twilight Zone. One stormy night long ago, five people stepped through the door of an elevator and had a nightmare. That door is opening once again, and this time, it's opening for you. You were about to discover what lies beyond the fifth dimension, beyond the deepest, darkest corner of imagination, in the Tower of Terror. Oh my god! AHHHHHHHHH! A warm welcome back to those of you who made it. In a friendly word of warning. Something you won't find in any guidebook. The next time you check into a deserted hotel on the dark side of Hollywood,

make sure you know just what kind of vacancy you're filling. Or you may find yourself a permanent resident of the Twilight Zone. Ladies and gentlemen, please gather your belongings and watch your step as you exit through the elevator doors. We trust your stay at the Hollywood Tower Hotel has been a pleasant one. No, and just when you think it was done, you're like, oh my god, we're ready to go. And bam, there's another one. And we got two of those. Just kept going and going and going. Fantastic. Yeah, here's hoping they never change that ride. When you're walking back up Sunset, back into the park, back toward Hollywood Boulevard, there's a little nod for you California folk, for you Disneyland folk. There's a little nod to, well, what is now the Pixar Pier, but it says, I wish you were here at Paradise Pier. Billboard of Paradise Pier good old DCA from studios and studio coast to coast gotta love the little Easter eggs. so what I'm not sure if I'm going to be able to do it.
