Hello travelers, hey, how you doing?
Welcome back to Walk About the World and greetings once again from Disney's Hollywood Studios here on a blustery evening.
Kind of rare for us, but I love it.
It's nice and cool.
Palm trees down the way are all...
I got ran over.
Doing an intro, come on.
Palm trees are swaying.
It is a good night
to be in the studios.
Passing Five and Dime
right now on your right.
Keystone across the corner.
Hollywood and Vine is where you are
appreciate you joining us
on our
little escapade through the parks
today
before we get too far
I want to give a shout out
really appreciate Bill and Aaron Before we get too far, I want to give a shout out.
Really appreciate Bill and Aaron Zeese doing an episode for us lately.
That was incredible.
I think they did an amazing job.
We told them they were instantly fired because they sounded better than we do.
Oh, that was awesome.
We hope to do more of that this year producer josh has reached out to some of you on instagram asking if you would like the chance to do
such a thing and if you would please join us i'd love to have you guest host for us
okay so what are we doing?
We have rounded the corner.
We're on Sunset Boulevard.
It's a place I wanted to be.
And I think you could use a little hit of it too.
And so we're standing across from Hollywood Junction right next to the entrance to Starbucks.
It's not called Starbucks here, but you know, Starbucks.
Beverly Sunset is across the street.
Now premiering Treasures.
Just love all the art deco and similar things down through here.
I'm not an architecture person, but whatever the heck this is, I like it.
We're going to take a slow stroll down Sunset Boulevard, see what we can see with our ears and we're going to
start here next to legends of Hollywood which I think is the Pandora store is
that right come on I'm going to do some good old-fashioned walk-about-the-world sign hunting this evening
because it entertains me.
Yes, indeed indeed this is the
pandora storm be the star you wish upon it says
there's a lovely mural over in the corner above a beautiful little grove of bird of paradise that people mistake for banana all the time. But it has a very retro view of what would have been the brand new Hollywood Tower Hotel.
And it says our city's newest landmark, fashionable dining, modern accommodations,
where the stars stay and play.
And then, you know, as we know, things went horribly wrong.
It's showtime, folks.
The Majestic Theater is where we are right now.
Special showing this Friday, it says.
25 cents adults and 15 cents children.
Now, what's playing here?
Let's see.
Now playing, Walt Disney's Pinocchio.
Walt Disney's Goofy, the art of skiing in Technicolor.
Walt Disney's Fantasia, also in Technicolor with Stokowski.
And Walt Disney's Miracle Musical feature, the three caballeros.
With Panchito,
Jose Carioca,
Donald Duck.
I have another
another
inside the team only
name for this movie.
Donald is
he's a ladies man.
That's what I'm saying. Oh yeah, I've got some comments for you guys on musical episodes, by the way.
It's a four-alarm fire now.
Okay, here we are at Sunset Club Couture.
Dark blue and black tiles with white and red signage.
Up above, the apartment, or the business above, says,
Director's Best Friend Incorporated Stunt Dogs. and here we are on the right is
Mouse About Town
with the boss
Mickey Mouse in grey
and a half moon sign out front
in neon green and yellow.
Mickey all dressed up in a suit in the window with a cityscape behind him,
Minnie in the opposite window,
in a silver and red dress, looking fabulous.
And this building is at 77 Sunset. Walking past some of the windows that are all decked out as old-time department stores used to be
with the wares that you can buy inside on display. We've made it down to the Theater of the Stars
where you can see Beauty and the Beast.
The not-so-new Hollywood Tower Hotel in the distance, it's had some issues.
Burnt scorch marks on the outside I have to ask
producer Josh if the theater of the stars
sign here is
what architectural style is this?
It's got the swoops like the old cars used to have.
Giant sign for Disney's Fantasmic,
a journey beyond your wildest imagination,
starring Mickey the Moose.
You know what this is? Here we are at last.
At the Tower of Terror. A drop. Here we come. About to happen. You can tell they're having fun by the screaming.
Now over here, right at the base of the Hollywood Tower, to the left, where they hardly ever use this little area for line queuing, there's a wheelbarrow, there's some shovels, garden rake.
Are they burying people? Is this burial equipment over here?
Never noticed it before.
If I haven't mentioned
prior, it is springtime in Florida.
And we are at
Gower Street and Sunset Boulevard
directly facing
the Hollywood
Tower Hotel. We're going to turn around
and head back up the street.
We could turn right now
and go down towards Rockin' Roller Coaster, but I'm not
going.
If it's still snow covered where you are, I'm sorry.
Here, trees are blooming.
I see brilliant pink blooms on several trees near me.
Leaves are coming out.
Pollen is wafting through the air in yellow waves coating everything and making us all sneeze I just about got ran over by a weaponized stroller
Hollywood scoops to your right.
Fairfax Fair.
Let's see what they have.
What fair do they have at Fairfax Fair?
That was an oops.
Somebody just knocked over a container of forks over there.
I got a pun, but I'm not going to do it.
Got to keep our family-friendly rating here, folks.
They have a Bell, B-E-L-L-E, cup of enchantment here.
Cranberry and Minute Maid Passion Fruit.
Orange Guava Juice with Yellow Shimmer.
I don't know what Shimmer is.
And Blueberry, no, sorry, strawberry boba pearls.
And they have also the enchanted rose dessert.
Chocolate mousse with a taste of black currant and morello cherry.
Chocolate shortbread cookie whipped.
Fluff.
You want your fluff whipped.
And gilded
with cocoa nibs
for only $5.79 As soon as you pass Fairfax Fair, over to your right is Sunset Ranch Market, an enormous counter service eatery that I think is often overlooked.
I mean, hundreds of seats.
Here directly in front of us is the red trolley. It doesn't move
unlike the one out west that is now
going away, but
we have our own red trolley.
Pacific Electric
signage.
And what this trolley is here
is where you can get a character. Don't sit under the apple tree with anyone else but me. After you pass the Sunset Ranch market area, there is Sunset Ranch pens and
souvenirs. We normally don't date the show, but it's Valentine's Day. Happy Valentine's Day, and what an appropriate song for this day.
Oh, yeah. Here we go. Yeah.
And here we are at the Anaheim Produce stand.
You can get hot pretzels, fresh fruit, lemonade, cuties, mandarin oranges, unique craft beers.
Why didn't I know about the unique craft beers?
You can also get frozen Jack and Coke and rum and Coke.
So if you want to be inebriated quickly at Hollywood Studios, come on over to Anaheim Produce, an unlikely place to get crunk.
But you can.
And if that wasn't enough,
as soon as you pass that,
we have the Sunshine Day Bar for your day drinking enjoyment. All right, around the corner, window up above says Muscle Beach Bodyguard Service you want a big old brawny bodyguard person you can snag one here right next to that we have Max's Classic Directing Academy
the latest in movie technologies are you ready for your close-up, it says.
The very last building, the very last store on Sunset Boulevard on our right.
What is it?
Take a guess. In Kalamazoo If I had a gal in Kalamazoo
I'd get her the heck out of there
Move her to Orlando
Oh, the building. Yes.
Alright, so I've passed it. I'm going to turn around.
I got distracted by girls in Kalamazoo.
We are at Beverly Sunset.
That's the building. Sometimes your unassuming, humble host, Jeremy, just freaks the heck out of people when he walks by talking with a microphone.
The Jaws open stairs this evening have been plentiful. So we are currently nestled, I say,
between some palm trees and some blooming pink trees of some sort.
And directly in front of us is what used to be starring roles in R-O-L-L-S, because it used to be an eatery,
and all of the umbrellaed tables down here used to have
starring roles on them. Now they don't
and it's kind of a bummer for me.
But it shall
always be starring roles to us.
It's still a great place to sit.
Because it's
sunken. You're in like a little sunken
patio area. It feels
sheltered.
And it's almost never crowded.
Like right now, it's bustly in here.
There's, oh man, I can spot like 20 open tables.
Nice place to sit and chill.
There's yet another bar right around the corner.
So if you haven't had your fill at the produce stand and the day drinking joint,
you can come right over here to the bar.
I'm going to do that while avoiding some travelers here.
Hang on.
Now take that.
I'm sorry. I'm sorry.
It's the Brown Derby Lounge.
If you want to meet up with fellow travelers of drinking age, here's where you do it.
Well, there's always a pile of them over here. Hollywood Brown Derby to your right. Admit it, you needed this.
I don't know what your week has been like, but if it's been anything like mine,
this is needed.
I haven't done this in a while so let's do it deep breath in
and out
Disney Meditation
with host Jeremy That was a nice lovely little tour of Sunset Boulevard.
Been meaning to soak some of that up for a while.
But now we're over here, right around the corner, next to Brown Derby,
with Mickey and Minnie's Runaway Insight.
It's a good chance amongst this wonderful ambience here.
Oh, there's a common Central Florida squirrel
hunting for a nut.
Oh, he found one.
Now he's eating a nut.
We've had several of our episodes taken down by Spotify lately,
probably along with a great many other podcasts.
And I wanted to just talk with you about it briefly.
They've been taking down episodes that are primarily or almost entirely music.
And honestly, rightfully so.
This isn't surprising to us.
When you know better, you do better.
And early on in the podcast, we didn't necessarily know better.
But we haven't done episodes of pure Disney musical ambience for quite some time because it's not legal.
And it's also why we occasionally get comments or even reviews saying,
less talking, more music.
We want the music.
And folks, I'm sorry.
Well, I'm not really sorry, but we're not doing that.
A, because that's not the podcast we are.
We're Walk About the World, not the Listening to the Disney Music podcast.
And if you want that, go to YouTube.
There's all kinds of copyrighted Disney music being blasted all over the place on YouTube.
Go nuts.
But they took down about 15 or 20 of our earlier episodes,
including some of my personal favorites, including
like the entire set of Sunny Eclipse, which is a freaking bummer. Cause I mean, come on,
it's Sunny Eclipse, man. But what can you do? I'm not going to sweat it. And we're going to
continue doing what we do every single week from the very first week, we've done episodes just like this.
We take you with us.
We walk, we talk, we listen, and we enjoy ourselves.
So anyway, in case your favorite episode is somehow missing now, that's what happened.
This little guy down here is just munching on his nuts.
He's as happy as can be.
Literally, that's what he's doing.
Oh, it's a favorite.
Let's soak a little bit of this up before they take this episode down
you're moving right love it Okay, let's head over to Echo Lake where we will wrap up.
But on the way, I want to give you guys a really cool announcement
and brag on you a little bit.
So come on. Echo Lake, whose phrasing we echo often.
It's got the very old camera, and would have been young at the time, cameraman. The quote from Michael Eisner, as we always say,
a Hollywood that never was and always will be.
Echo Lake Insight, SS Down the Hatch,
let me give you a cool announcement.
We are adding to our host roster.
Not replacing, adding. We're growing.
And very, very soon you're going to hear an episode
from our newest host, and his name is Jay. He's a longtime friend of the pod. He is our
local friend and compatriot here in Orlando. He is an educator, a half marathoner, maybe a full marathoner at some point. I don't know. He's definitely a
half marathoner, an overall excellent human being. You guys are going to love him. And he, uh, he's
already recorded his first episode and you will be hearing it soon. You'll probably hear this one
first. Otherwise this, uh, announcement is going to be really weird but we can't
wait to have him aboard
nobody's going anywhere
we're just adding to our host because
guys I just tell you
like behind the scenes here like
we love people we love
good camaraderie
good community
it is more important to us than
about anything else that we do.
And you're not going to find any other
Disney podcast out there with six hosts
because it's just, it's lunacy.
But we love it, the more the merrier.
And yeah,
so that's going to be a great addition to 2025.
And then something I wanted to just
brag on you guys about is just that we
have the most wonderful listeners.
I know that's almost
a cliche thing to say as a podcaster, but we, I just can't say enough good, good stuff about you
folks. There are listeners among you and you know who you are that I talk to daily. That is not a joke. In contact with, on Instagram, daily.
Members of this podcast listening family have become extended family to us.
We just really appreciate you. Whether you're near or far, some of you i've never met and i i talk to you often but just know that
whenever you send us a note it is always shared with all the hosts unless of course you know you
you say not to if it's something you really keep personal between you and one of the hosts of
course we'll obey that but otherwise we share it with everybody. We utterly love it. Appreciate all of you.
And on that note, I'm going to wrap up here.
I'm seated now.
I wanted to chill out at Echo Lake, and so by golly, that's what we're going to do.
SS down the hatch is to my right.
You can probably hear the fountain in the lake, and the sun is just starting to go down. So the light is shining in the fountain in the lake and the sun is just starting to go down so the light is shining in the fountain on the lake
Gertie across the way is blowing smoke as usual
little golden eyes shining
I see four Disney ducks out on Echo Lake
doing whatever ducks do
it is incredibly peaceful.
Palm trees are swaying.
It's breezy this evening.
It is just a good place to be.
One of the things I love most about this park is just you come here and you feel like you're somewhere else.
A little bit more than I do if, let's say, I'm at Magic Kingdom.
You know what?
Maybe you're different, but that's the way I feel.
I can zone out and chill
out here, which your humble
host needs.
I'm wound a little tight,
as you guys know.
Heroes? I'm sure they're working. Okay, let me run ahead and jump.
Well, I did tell you about one thing.
Yeah.
All right, before we exit, as always, let's give a thank you and a shout out to our wonderful patrons who support us week after week.
We so appreciate you. At the Living Laboratory level, we have Debbie Gambala, Eric Steinhauer, Josh Nakano, James Beecham, Rhiannon Shigaris with Kingdom Consultants, and Eric
Atuso. Thank you guys week after week for your
support and we are the...oh man.
We're the lamest podcast ever
for Patreon activity.
I'm so sorry sorry you guys support us all the time and uh wow real life gets
in our way more often than it should and we're going to try to correct that in 2025 but thank
you so much and to all of the rest of you who listen and follow along. Thank you so much for being there. Wherever you are, we hope
you're well. We hope things are in upswing for you. We hope 2025 is going to be a good year for you.

As always, there's a great, big, beautiful tomorrow out there for each one of us.
And that's it for me.
That's it from Hollywood Studios.
