Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello, travelers. Welcome back to Walk About the World. Who are you, by the way? Hi, it's me, Josh. Yeah, it's producer Josh. Co-host Josh. Producer, co-host Josh. I got upgraded. You might be. I'm upgraded. I'm now co-host. So we are a weekly audio stroll through one of the parks and resorts of walt disney world here in orlando florida or occasionally possibly if if rick peralta will do his job rick i'm
Starting point is 00:00:32 kidding you're doing great rick you're doing great rick so far nowhere to go but up from here so we are standing right next to the indiana jones epic stunt spectacular as you have guessed in hollywood studios right next to the backside of Gertie. And we are here to... Oh, they're loading. We better hurry. I better shut up quickly. But we're going to take in Indiana Jones today, open for what, like a month now? It's been open for about a month since they've been closed since almost the beginning of the pandemic. So this is my first time back. This is Jeremy's first time back in a long time.
Starting point is 00:01:03 First time in like 13 years. Way up since I moved to Florida. I'm ashamed to say that. Wow. Yeah, so apparently there's a few changes that were made over its closure. So we're going to check that out and see. Basically just enjoy the joy. Enjoy the joy?
Starting point is 00:01:19 Is that a thing? I hope so. We're going to enjoy the heck out of Indiana Jones. There will be whips, rocks. Whips? Yep. There'll be whipping. And it happens to be 48 degrees right now, so we're going to enjoy the heck out of those explosions and that heat.
Starting point is 00:01:34 Yes, while we freeze and seating. All right, with no further ado, let's go do Indiana Jones. You coming? Let's go. Why not? Coming? Let's go. I don't know. Kampung Kampung oh oh Jumping clown. ¶¶ I am the king of the world. Oh, my God. That guy's done. He was good. He was good. Yeah! Nena! ¶¶ Oh, my God. I think we're safe.
Starting point is 00:06:10 Yeah, you got it? Good job. I'm sorry. Oh, no! Pops! Chris! You okay? Steve, you think he's okay? Russ! I'm okay! Yay! I swear! I'm looking crazy, Josh. You caught us so close to the boulders. Yeah, boss, I'm sorry. I really just thought you'd like it better that way. Uh-huh. Can I tell you the hardest part?
Starting point is 00:07:04 Yeah, what's that? I really just thought you'd like it better that way. Uh-huh. I almost mean Steve. Just keeping the hat on. Make sure it stays on. Indiana Jones never loses his hat. That's right. Great work so far. Check the gates. Mark, you see, five minutes. You got it. Let's go and strike this mind temple. I did it. You count on five, everyone. Count on five.
Starting point is 00:07:23 Well, this can only happen on a movie set. So, what did you think of the opening scene? Scene 1? Awesome. What did you think of that giant boulder? Huh? Yes! Amazing. That thing is unbelievably heavy. No, seriously, it takes like 20 of our strongest crew members just to roll it back into place. Don't laugh, the other 18 are inside. Nice and warm. Well hi everyone, my name is Mark, I'm the assistant director of the second unit.
Starting point is 00:07:57 Now folks, the second unit is where all the action is in the movies. You see the second unit uses a lot of stunt and action sequences for movies like Raiders of the Lost Ark. And today, we're gonna show you how stunt work on the second unit is actually created. Hey, Ty, come on. Hey, Mindy. Yeah? Can I borrow Indy for like one minute?
Starting point is 00:08:18 All right, be quick, we got a lot more to shoot today. All right, thank you very much. Folks, I'd like to introduce you to our Harrison Ford stunt double, playing the role of Indiana Jones. Please welcome Chris! Hey, Chris! Thank you. Hey Chris, I wanted to bring you out here for some applause. I appreciate that.
Starting point is 00:08:35 Yeah, no worries. First sequence looked amazing. Thank you. Also, it's very tangy. Sure. So, do me a favor. Tell us all, how do you pull it off? I make it up as I go. Fuck it like a true fall guy. Come on, Chris. You've got to be a little bit scared, right? Sure, Mark. You don't have to be crazy enough to be just a little bit scared.
Starting point is 00:08:56 There's a certain amount of risk and danger in really everything you do here. I'm looking for this incredible stuff to watch on my back. Well, I never attempt any of it. Here, it really is all about teamwork. That's right. Thank you very much, Chris. It is about teamwork. It looks like the rest of your team, they're coming out here now. All right, let's get to know the rest of our team here on set. Who do we have right now? Well, first up, we got Wiggins. We got Victor. Kyle, Artie, Freya, Josh, other house girls, PK, Zach, and Karen Allen Stunt. Now, we're playing the role of Marion.
Starting point is 00:09:38 Ready to win one of the best in the business. It is Michelle. Hi, everyone. Hello. Hi, there. Thank you, Mark! You're welcome. You all look great.
Starting point is 00:09:47 Now, folks, as you can see, we are very proud of the team we have assembled. They are an amazing and diverse group of stunt performers, and they are the real stars that will help bring our version of Cairo to life. And I can't wait for you to see them in action. So, let's give them another big round of applause, our epic stunt team! Yes indeed! Now, everyone you see on set today, they are skilled professionals, trained in their craft to embody the roles they're playing in this dynamic scene we're about to shoot.
Starting point is 00:10:21 From heroes to villains, these stunt actors step into the story as soon as our cameras roll. And speaking of rolling cameras, when they start rolling, we're going to need a lot of reaction from our crowd. So, coming up behind me right now, I'm almost scaring you to death, please welcome our on-site casting director, Kevin! Thank you, Mark! Hello, everybody! Welcome to the studio! Thank you so much! Now, if you like action and adventure, you have come to the right place. Like Mark said, my name is Kevin, I'm the casting director.
Starting point is 00:10:49 Part of a casting director's job is the casting of background talent. Background talent plays a really important part in our production, because they help bring the scenes to life. So, today, I'm going to cast all of you as our background voices. We have a tremendous amount of action in our production, so we're going to need a tremendous amount of reaction from all of you. So when you see something exciting, when you see something that might put you on the edge of your seat, we want you to clap, we want you to cheer,
Starting point is 00:11:17 we want you to blow the roof off this place. Can you do it? Yes, you can. Let me check with Tori. Are we good? Yeah, we're ready? Fantastic. Alright, so for this first rehearsal, when I say action,
Starting point is 00:11:30 I want you to scream as loud and as long as you can, because you're standing on a trap door, it opens up, and you fall into a pit of slimy venomous snakes. Action! Got it! Got it! Fantastic! Well done! Did we get it, Tori? We got it. Alright, so let's try something a little bit different. This time, when I say action, I want you to laugh.
Starting point is 00:11:59 But I don't want you to just give me a little laugh. I want a big, goofy, belly laugh. Ready? Action! That was awesome. There is nothing better than a 2,000 piece, all laughing at one time. Fantastic job. Did we get it? We got it. All right. So let's just try that again. A little bit different. I want you to laugh like Chipmunks. All right? Like Chip and Dale.
Starting point is 00:12:29 Ready? Action. Good. Pinch that up a little higher. That had nothing to do with an Indiana Jones film. I just wanted to see if you do it. Thanks so much. I appreciate it.
Starting point is 00:12:43 You did a fantastic job. Give yourselves a round of applause. You did great. Mark, they are all yours. Thank you so much. I appreciate it. You did a fantastic job. Give yourselves a round of applause. You did great. Mark, they are all yours. Thank you very much. They sound fantastic, Kevin. Thank you. All right. Well, you're all warmed up and ready to go. Let's move on to some more action, shall we? But before that, I want to introduce you to somebody very important. All right. Hey, Mark. Yep. You're going to introduce me. All right. I'll be right there. All right. Alright, finger marks, stay safe, let's do this.
Starting point is 00:13:08 Please welcome to the set, Mindy! Hey! Hey everybody! Wow! Thank you so much for joining us here this afternoon. We've got a lot of exciting action sequences to share with you. And I gotta tell you, the great thing about working on an Indiana Jones film is that most of our shots are shot live. So it's thrilling, it's dangerous, I think you'll agree, it looks great on camera. So enjoy. Let's talk about our camera shots here.
Starting point is 00:13:34 We've got them, boss. As you know, we're shooting this with both cameras A and camera B. Camera B we got on the dolly, I'm going to keep that on the wide shot, we're going to capture all the action here on the ground. Let's talk about camera A. I'd like to change that up a bit. I'm going to shoot that at a frame rate of 36 instead of 24. Speeding up that frame rate, when they get onto the buildings, all those high falls are going to be on the most great and slow motion. Now let's go back to camera B. I'm going to keep that on the wide shot until the end.
Starting point is 00:13:59 Dolly to the left to capture that kidnap. Let's make sure that last kidnap, Do dolly is actually a three-quarter shot. Probably shot. Alright. Woo! Chris, how's that new whip routine? Think I got it. I like it. Looking clean.
Starting point is 00:14:17 Alright, okay, let's go ahead and put that in there. Go ahead and gather up. We're going to talk about the top of this scene here. Alright, so remember you are going to be entering from behind the close up right you're going to head into the marketplace everything's very casual first we're going to let all that action unfold right everybody clear on this you guys all right let's get this in line let's do it mark call it you got it boss you call this places everybody places places all right, Indy Mary, looking good, ready to go. Stunt team, all set? Got it.
Starting point is 00:14:48 All right, most importantly, are you ready? Fantastic. Okay, cameras ready? Cameras are ready. Okay, quiet on the set. Roll cameras. Rolling. Speed.
Starting point is 00:15:01 Count of six. C, 124, Apple. Carol, encounter. Take one-0. Carrow encounter. Take one. Mark. Play back. Back back. Action.
Starting point is 00:15:10 Action. Action. Action. Action. Action. Action. Action. Action.
Starting point is 00:15:18 Action. Action. Action. Action. Action. Action. Action. Action.
Starting point is 00:15:20 Action. Action. Action. Action. Action. Action. Action. Action.
Starting point is 00:15:23 Action. Action. Action. Action. Action. Action. Action. Action.
Starting point is 00:15:24 Action. Action. Action. Action. Action. Action. Action. Action. Action. Action. Action. Action. Action. Action. Action. Action. Action. There you go. There you go. Get out of here. Joe! Ah! Jerry! Take your hands off me! Ah! Jake! Come on, take your hands off me! What?
Starting point is 00:15:59 What? Come on, Jake, come on! You called in, Jake! Come on, Mary deep, come on! You called in, Jake! Come on, Larry! Come on! Get up there! Hey, Jake! You're a bastard.
Starting point is 00:16:15 What are you saying? I don't know. Ah! Put him on the bus. Okay. Ah! Ah! Burien, hang on! Hey, Danny! Behind you! Hang on! Oh Keep going. No.
Starting point is 00:17:16 We're trapped. Go now. Feet back. Go now! Face back! I think I'm on the way out. Go now! I got it! Go! Go! Why are you playing me?
Starting point is 00:17:42 Go now! Face! Go! Hey! Woo! This way! Hey, hey! Hey! Stop! Stop!
Starting point is 00:18:02 Stop! Stop! Hey, hey! Stop! Stop! Hey, hey! Stop! Stop! Stop! Get down! Stop it! Stop! Get down! Get down! Get down!
Starting point is 00:18:08 Help! Help! Get down here! Stop! All right. Get the whole place. Get in there. Help her out of there. Push her down.
Starting point is 00:18:34 Go. That's right. Yeah. Woo. Yeah. Excellent work. Great work. Check it in.
Starting point is 00:18:46 Make sure we got that shot. Well, as you can see, working with explosives can be extremely dangerous. And while there is some risk involved, every explosion and fire effect you see on set today is carefully controlled by my team of professional technicians. They're here in the booth, they're all around the set. Let's take a moment, show them some appreciation. Thank God, you're working hard today, thank you so much. Now, they work closely with the person on my set, responsible for all of these effects.
Starting point is 00:19:18 Hey, Steve, I'm sorry for a moment. This is my demolitions expert, Steve. Steve. Steve, yeah, well, I was just hoping you could take a moment. Tell them what it's like working with explosives. It's hot. All right. All right. Come on. Steve's a man of few words. It was a good one. I was hoping you could give a little more detail. You got it, boss. Folks, in all seriousness, all the flame effects and explosions you do see here today,
Starting point is 00:19:53 they're performing in a safe, controlled environment. That's also true when you see the illusion of ricochets hitting the ground. Check this out. The safe is a blast of compressed air. They're speechless. The state is a blast of compressed air. That's dangerous. Thank you so much, Steve. That's the word, man. Alright, yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:14 So having said all that, I bet you'd be surprised to learn that more stunt performers actually get hurt during the simple fighting routine more than any other stunt. And that's because it takes timing, practice, and coordination to really make it look like you're hitting someone. You're still just missing bar quinches. You know what? I'd like to show you what I'm talking about. And PK! Come here for a moment.
Starting point is 00:20:37 Folks, this is one of my best fight performers, PK! Yeah, and Michelle, if I could borrow you for a moment. I know you're hydrating, Michelle. Come on over here. You good? Thank you so much. Now listen, I was explaining to the guests how something as simple as a fight routine can actually be very dangerous.
Starting point is 00:20:56 Yes. And since we have the time, maybe we could give a little demonstration. Right. No, not with me though. No? With each other. Okay. Thank you. Hey, PK, let's look at that routine we did yesterday.
Starting point is 00:21:06 Yeah? Sounds good. All right. Now, in a fight routine, taking a punch is just as important as throwing one. Ah! Nice. PK, that was good. Yeah, I like that.
Starting point is 00:21:18 Okay, good. Let's try something else. Let me see if you really can't get hurt if you don't have the right timing. Nice take there. That was really, really good. You know what, guess what? We're gonna change it up a bit. Just roll with it.
Starting point is 00:21:32 I don't wanna let you go. Well you see, take, got it. I don't wanna take it. Ah! Coordination, ah! Nope, I'm a real rebel, hey! Ah! Oh no.
Starting point is 00:21:42 Oh. Oh, hey! Oh no! Did you hit him? Not without getting hurt. Michelle, I meant a simple demonstration. He probably was. Yes, he was. Obviously something like this takes a lot of rehearsals. Or a lot of fight performance. Let's try one more.
Starting point is 00:22:04 No, let's just help Kike out. Okay, you got it, boss. of rehearsals or a lot of fight performance. Let's try one more. How about a little bit? No, just help PK. Okay, you got it, boss. Okay. PK! PK! PK! Well, let's hear it for two of my best
Starting point is 00:22:23 fight performers themselves Michelle and PK! Thank you so much. All right, go ahead and get set up for this next scene. The desert scene, which you will see once this building clears. Here, Indy and Marion are trying to escape from an enemy encampment somewhere in the North African desert. Hey Zach, I'm gonna borrow you for a moment. Here, Indy finds himself face to face with a heavy hitting mechanic played by my stunt actor. This is Zach! Hey everybody! Zach! Alright. Listen, how about you take a moment, explain the difference between being a stunt actor, like yourself, and stunt doubles, like Chris or Michelle, would you help them out?
Starting point is 00:23:11 Well folks, as a stunt actor, I play the role of the mechanic of the next scene. And what that means is I perform a lot of stunts, so I don't need a stunt double. Which is considerably different than someone like Chris over here who's just a stunt double. Alright, well it's just a stunt double. It's my job to make you believe that I'm Harrison Ford. And you have to get on Karen Allen. Right, some big stars like Harrison Ford or Karen Allen do prefer to do their own stunts. But sometimes the risk of injury is just too great. If a big star were to get hurt, it could shut down our entire production.
Starting point is 00:23:48 Whereas if Zach got hurt, well, we'd just find somebody else. Besides, if Paris and I are doing our jobs correctly, even our own best friends will have a tough time telling us apart. Hey, I want to talk over change. You know, Chris, who's the biggest difference between you and Paris? Who's the biggest difference? $200 million. All right, save They kept the joke. $200 million. Hello. All right.
Starting point is 00:24:08 Save that for the scene. All right, listen. This may affect you, Michelle. When the soldier up on the hill strikes a fire down on Indy, you panic. You hit the controls. You start going in circles. All this stays the same. Let's get to that action sooner.
Starting point is 00:24:21 So on the first rotation, that's when you're going to fall into that machine gun. You're going to accidentally fire rounds into the air. Everybody clear on this? Yes, you got it. All right, listen, there's a lot of action in this last scene, so hit your marks. Stay safe. Mark Pollock. License, everyone. License. Folks, this last scene is a culmination of all the effects you've seen so far, and what you're about to watch will not be possible without the entire cast and crew working together as a team to get the shot and create what we call the Indiana Jones Epic Stunt Spectacular. Right team? Alright, let's call it right. Alright, the place is everyone to call it is the place. Up on the hill, we're doing this. Alright, Steve, expect ready. We're also over here Mike. Thank you right. Steve. We're all set over here, Mike.
Starting point is 00:25:05 Thank you very much, Steve. All right. Cameras ready? Cameras are ready. All right. Final set. Roll cameras. Rolling.
Starting point is 00:25:16 Speed. Coming six. C3 Charlie. Different flight. Take one. Mark. Play that. Action.
Norske Rundforskning Terima kasih telah menonton! Thank you. so get the point I'm going to get you! Don't touch anything! I got you! Indy! I'm right behind you! I got you!
Starting point is 00:27:40 Alright, easy! Ah, alright. Easy. Engage! Ah, no way did you come up there! I said no, you're not doing anything! You're a hero! I'm sorry. You! You! You! You! You!
Starting point is 00:29:34 You! You! You! You! You! You! You! You! You! You! You! You! You! You! You! You! You! You! You! You! You! You! You! You! You! You! You! You! You! You! You! You! You! You! Thank you very much for joining us in this commemorative event. This is the last time we're gonna be here. We're gonna have a rest of the day
Starting point is 00:29:57 in the Disney Coliseum. Bye, everyone. I don't know. ¶¶ © BF-WATCH TV 2021 All right. Let's go. So hey, that was Indiana Jones. And they changed a few things, yeah? There were a few things. I don't know if that was just for this particular showing or if that's a permanent thing, but we'll find out next time, I guess. But it was still really cool. And I haven't seen it in a decade. Over a decade.
Starting point is 00:32:14 It's still good. They've got you know, they had to change some things for pandemic age. Yeah. No more volunteers, obviously. No volunteers on stage. They put that into the show. They work in a few new scenes for that. So that was good.
Starting point is 00:32:29 Sounds really good in there. All the music, the effects, very loud. And hopefully we didn't peg the mic and it sounds terrible. You guys can decide. Because it was loud in there. Oh, the music's gone. Okay. That was awkward.
Starting point is 00:32:44 But that's okay. Anyhow, we're winding this up. I think we're winding this up. So thanks for tagging along and hanging out with us during Indie. This was fun. Look us up at somewhere on Instagram at... WalkaboutWDW. Yes.
Starting point is 00:33:01 Look for the great logo that Josh made. I'm not sure you can just look for a logo on Instagram. I don't think you can do that. But look us up on Instagram. Drop us a note. Follow us if you feel like it. Also look up Josh, who's about to knock over some gate. I'm not going to get thrown out of here. Hi! No problem.
Starting point is 00:33:18 We are about to get thrown out of here. I was just helping her close the gate. Where were we? Instagram? Josh? The Steel. The Steel with an E. Look up Rick, the West Coast guy, West Coast crew at Kilted Jedi Rick RIC. I always have to spell these things.
Starting point is 00:33:36 Why can't you guys have normal names? And you are? I'm Jeremy. Actually, my account is the worst of all. It's Jeremy underscore Hunt underscore FL, but I never mentioned that. You never do. That's weird, right? We need to start doing that. Yeah, okay. Anyway.
Starting point is 00:33:50 Season two, you gained a co-host. A couple of co-hosts. A couple of co-hosts. And you gained some exposure for your own Instagram. We're not exposing anything. But, yeah. The sun is back out.
Starting point is 00:34:06 It's still bloody cold for us here. And I don't know what we're going to do next. But we're going to sign out right now. Right now. Bye, everybody. Bye. Bye-bye. Bye-bye.
Starting point is 00:34:21 Bye-bye. Bye-bye. Worst outro ever. Doesn't matter.
