🎵 Thank you. Hello, travelers.
Welcome back to Walk About the World.
Hey, if this is your first time hanging out at the parks with us,
we are your weekly audio adventure through our beloved parks and resorts
here in Walt Disney World in Florida
and even in Disneyland in California. So today we find ourselves at Epcot. You couldn't tell
from that pan flute jam that is a fave of ours over here at Walkabout. We are at the
Land Pavilion. I just came over to check out the Passfolder lounge section over here by Sunshine Seasons,
where you can scan your pass and they give you a complimentary bag of M&Ms and a little
figment sticker. There's water cups and charging stations for your phone. Definitely a nice little
break from the heat while you're here at Epcot. Speaking of, since we're not going to ride Lubin with the land boat ride today,
but we will stick with the theme of air-conditioned attractions.
So I think we'll start next door over at the Seas with Nemo and Friends.
So let's swim on over and take a ride.
Take in some ambience around what, as a child, was my favorite pavilion here as a kid, the Living Seas, which is now, of course, the Seas with Nemo.
And so we'll go over there and hop a clam and ride the ride and then hang out in the AC for a little bit.
So let's head over there.
Then we'll see what our next AC field attraction will be.
All right, let's go
Nemo! Nemo!
Now we're inside!
Let's go explore, explore, explore!
Let's go explore the big blue world!
Please Mr. Ray, we can't explore without Nemo!
I'm sure we'll see him any minute now!
Nemo!
Oh, sunny street, there's no one to know.
Find-a-board explore is the time to go! Where?
Where?
Nemo! Where are you, Nemo?
Who's Nemo?
He's my son. You know that.
Remember, you I love him.
We've been on a huge adventure together.
I'm Nemo.
I'm a bouncy that looks like a balloon.
No, Jellyfish!
Right.
Oh, now.
I'm a bouncy.

That's Jellyfish.
Very good.
And I'm Jellyfish.

I'm thinking of something pink and bouncy
that looks like a little...
Jellyfish!
Ow!
Look, I'm scared now.
You're not helping!
Ding-a-ding-a-ding!
Oh yeah, too fast for you.
Stop fooling around! I wonder if clownfish taste good. Thank you. What is everybody looking for? What is everybody looking for?
Oh, you killed a matter, dear.
It's all spring.
Awesome.

We're on. La ciudad de la vida Terima kasih telah menonton. Here at the Seas Over Animal Kingdom, we across all of Disney property, we do a lot of different
work taking care of these animals and promoting
conservation as well. Sea turtles especially. There's another one of our sea turtles coming
in for you. To your left, past that window with the Mickey Mouse, is our green sea turtle.
We are going to have, this is going to be Harry. So we have Harry and McBride are our
two green sea turtles that live here at the seas. along with Tolstoy, our loggerhead.
Tolstoy, again, is down taking a nap in the rock shape like Mickey and the Lone Man, one of our favorite spots.
But it's sea turtle nesting season here in Florida, so if you happen to visit one of our beaches, make sure you look out for those nesting sites. So far at our beaches here in Florida, we've had about over 40,000
nests on our beaches for loggerhead sea turtles, about the same for green sea turtles as well, so
there's a lot of nesting activity that does happen and we want to make sure all of those babies and
turtles have the chance to make it back out to the ocean. And you can help to do that by sleeping in the park ages, making sure
no trash or debris is left behind
because those sea turtles, when they
make it in the way
or crash and hit the wave,
those sea turtles pass out into the water, so that's
why you want to pick up that.
But if you have any questions about those sea turtles
like Tolstoy or
Big Dry, we are
at your moment.
Let me know.
My name's Caitlin.
I'm a member of the Education Center here at the Z.
I'm happy to answer any questions.
All right.
Well, we are going to head over to World Showcase.
I think we're going to take in one of the original Epcot attractions,
which would be the American Adventure Show.
If you've never seen it, it's a great show.
Big production. Still holds up.
Oh, here's some duckies. We've got to wait for the duckies to cross.
Disney ducks are the best, are they not?
Hi ducks, how are you?
Here, say something to the travelers. Let's head
over to the American Adventure.
Imagination fountain to your right. Lion King Topiaries to the left here.
Monumpumba.
Fasa.
Sarabi, Rupiki, and Simba.
And Monorail Silver coming down.
Construction wall is still very prominent here at Epcot.
To the left here we've got some new structures coming up. I'm not sure what that's gonna be exactly but we've got some large beams with some
some textures on them coming up. I know there's supposed to be a concert venue there, like a stage, and some photo op places, or an official
photo op place for Epcot, for character meet and greets.
You know you're at Epcot, or any Disney park, when you've got bubbles being blown into your face at all times as you're walking.
Alright, we are coming up to World Showcase.
I'm going to be one of those controversial Epcoters.
We're going right.
Pretty busy day today.
There's Bambi and Thumper and Flower topiaries to the left as we enter Canada. The hotel structure that houses the Le Cellier restaurant is under construction.
It's got some scaffolding up the side. Looks like they're doing a little bit of painting making it look nice and shiny It's good.
It's good.
Headed into the UK Pavilion. Hook and Peter Pan, Tick Tock Croc, Topiary is to the left just in front of the water. boat going by. Got the Shakespeare Garden here on our right across from the Rose and Crown pub.
A little bust of Shakespeare.
Some information on Billy himself. Some quotes.
From numerous plays.
That all deal with flowers.
A Winter's Tale.
In Act 4, Scene 4 of The Winter's Tale, Perdita gives King Polyxenes
Sorry if I butchered that, I'm not a Shakespeare expert.
and Camillo a series of flowers, briefly describing how they grow and what they might symbolize.
In Shakespeare's time, flowers were a language unto themselves,
with each blossom expressing a particular thought,
feeling, or action. In Hamlet, Ophelia's famous flower speech in Hamlet explains several of the meanings behind plants common during Shakespeare's time.
Some of the flowers Ophelia mentions and what they meant to people of the Elizabethan era.
Rosemary for remembrance.
Pansies for thoughts.
Fennel for flattery.
Columbine for deception.
Rue for bitterness.
Daisy, innocence, and violets for faithfulness.
And now you know.
We've got Alice meeting in front of the tea caddy.
You need to get in the way.
Hi, Alice.
Good job! Walking through France now as I'm inhaling all the bubbles being blown by the children in front of me.
Should have worn goggles or something today. Thank you. Where is it? I don't know. I don't know. Approaching Japan as I'm sure you can tell by the taiko drummers.
Good to see them out. Shishi Odoshi
scared deer water fountains Thank you. Now, while the drummers set up for their next number,
here's more about their performance.
The history of Taiko Japanese Dragon holds its history.
It began in the 1970s. All right, here we are.
Welcome to the American Adventure.
Let's go listen to some fountain action here. Let's go watch this epic theatrical event starring Mark Twain and Benjamin Franklin.
Did I mention it was in the air conditioning? Oh, glorious.
Voices of Liberty performing.
I'll let you listen in. Thank you. America, what a unique and wonderful place to call home. Where else would you be able to use the car rideways and drive-on parkways?
Where else would an American you could say,
take me out to the ballgame, in your orange hair?
Despite its troubled and growing age, it's a great place to call home.
Aren't you glad she's ours? Despite his troubled growing age, it's a great place to call home.
Aren't you glad she's ours?
God bless America, my home sweet home That's America God bless America
Oh, the storm clouds gather
Far across the sea Let us all be grateful
For a land so fair
As we raise our voices In a solemn way
In a solemn way And I saw the day I was born
And I will always stand beside you
And I will live the night with is bright from above.
From the mountain America to the hill, America to the ocean, America wide with foam. God bless America.
God bless America.
God bless America.
God bless America. My home sweet home sweet
Home If you've never heard the voice of liberty live in that rotunda over here, you're missing out.
Gosh, they're wonderful.
Beautiful performance.
So the American Adventure show itself is about 30 minutes long.
And so I'm not going to give you the entirety of the show this episode.
I'm just going to give you some clips in this episode so we don't go too long for you.
And then we will release the full show as another bonus set later on.
So let's check out a little bit of the American Adventure.
America did not exist.
Four centuries of work, bloodshed, loneliness, and fear created this land.
We built America, and the process made us Americans.
A new breed, rooted in all races, stained and tinted with all colors,
a seeming ethnic anarchy.
Then, in a little time, we became more alike than we were different.
A new society.
Not great, but fitted by our very thoughts for greatness.
Uh, excuse me, Mr. Twain.
What's that?
Perhaps you recognize those inspiring words
from one of America's great writers.
No, Dr. Franklin,
I don't recall writing anything like that.
Oh, my, of course not.
They're from the pen of John Steinbeck
back in the 20th century.
Why, it seems he has nearly the same spirit
as the Founding Fathers themselves.
Well, listen to the proud elder statesman.
Mr. Twain, pride is one of our national passions.
Even those who overcome it are proud of their humility.
Easy now.
I was born modest.
Fortunately, more often.
Dr. Franklin is our genuine American antique.
I suppose our story began for the youth.
Actually, it started long before even my time.
It started when dreams and visions of a new world were shrouded in the myths and legends of an old world.
Finally, through those early mists of uncertainty, sailed the first great adventurers.
This tiny ship is the Mayflower, carrying pilgrims in search of their dream, a dream The American Adventure There's a land across this ocean I'm waiting to see
A land for these people who dream to be free
So stand by the mate so the fierce storms will race

My fellow citizens of the world, ask not what America will do for you, but what together we can do for the freedom of man.
I have a dream this afternoon that the brotherhood of man will become a reality in this day,
with this faith.

Oh, oh, oh.
America, spread your golden wings.
Fly high Fly high
Well, Mr. Twain, what do you think of our America now?
I think the Founding Fathers never dreamed of an America like this.
Of course not. We weren't dreamers. We were visionaries.
That is why our Constitution withstands the rigors of time.
Easy now, Dr. Franklin.
This nation's still just a youngster, don't you know?
Why, some countries have been around for 50 centuries.
We're barely into our third.
That's true.
But look what we've accomplished in that tiny span of time.
My dear doctor,
earlier you found
John Steinbeck so inspiring.
But he also
sounded this warning.
We now
face the danger
which in the past has been the most
destructive to the human.
Success,
plenty,
comfort, and ever-increasing leisure. No dynamic people has ever survived
these dangers. I may have invented these bifocals I'm wearing, but I can assure you they are
not rose-colored. Mr. Twain, the golden age never was the present age
but with human liberty we can fulfill the promise and meaning of America
to everyone a chance, believed Thomas Wolfe
to all people, regardless of their birth
the right to live, to work, to be themselves
and to become whatever their visions can combine to make them.
This is the promise of America.
Mr. Twain, it is easy to see, hard to foresee,
but I foresee the American adventure to continue a long, long time. Keep your spirit free Facing new opportunities
America, spread your golden wings
