Starting point is 00:00:00 Warning, this episode may cause spontaneous enlightenment. If you prefer to keep your mind small and stay blissfully unaware of the power of light energy, you may want to sit this one out. You've been warned. When you're dealing with something where it's like mind control to the fullest, where a person believes that they're doing something on their own accord and they do not know that they're being controlled, they're going to believe that they're doing everything within their own free will because you've brainwashed them into believing that. So it's kind of like the perfect formula for a cult. What's up cult fam? Welcome to our show. Was I in a cult? I'm Liz Ayakuzzi.
Starting point is 00:00:53 Yep, and I'm Tyler Missom. And if it's your first time listening to our show, welcome. You now have to tie 15% of your income before taxes. Actually, Liz, it's now 20% due to inflation and due to the fact that I need a hot tub. I need a cold plunge. That's what I... Talk about a cult. The cold plunge cult is growing.
Starting point is 00:01:17 And I'm fully on board. You're an elder. Yes, I have a yellow sash. So on this show, we give people the stage to share their stories of getting into cults or cultic environments, getting out and taking their power back. However, this is not your typical cult show because it's not all doom and gloom. No, we're not setting out to leave you guys more depressed than when you started the episode. We're here to bring lightness to dark situations. Yeah, we laugh at the cult. We make fun of cults because cult beliefs are often wacky, insane, and frankly they're kind of hilarious.
Starting point is 00:01:53 And the guests we have on this show are ready to share their stories with a healthy perspective. And we give our guests a space to look back with candor and humor. Which is exactly what our guest today does. Now we've had a number of unique cults on this show, but this, this is our first meditation cult. And again, mindfulness meditation, not a cult. Mindfulness meditation is great and clinical research has proven meditation to help in a plethora of ways. There's that word, plethora. Plethora. Including but not limited to reducing
Starting point is 00:02:29 stress, improving sleep, reducing blood pressure. I could go on and on but I won't. Yeah, I should probably go on and on and on and meditate. I'm the kind of guy that should meditate but the reasons I don't meditate are the reasons. You should meditate. Does that makes sense? I can't sit still. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. thi. thi. thi. the the th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the. to to toeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. toe. toe. to toe. should meditate. Does that make sense? It does make sense. I can't sit still, my brain goes 100 miles an hour. When I exercise, I exercise fast, hard, as quick as I can, as hard as I can, and I get it done. That's like the anti-meditation. Maybe by the end of this episode, you'll be inspired, Tyler.
Starting point is 00:02:57 Maybe, Sen. To expand thiii, to expand thi, the their their their, their, thi, to thi, to expand thi, to expand thi, thi, thi, to expand thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. thi, thi, thi, thi, th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, th. th. the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. toee. toeea. toea. toea. toea. toea. toea. toea. ta. toea. ta. thaea. thaea. tha. ta. t mind. Maybe. But like everything you've heard on the show, guys, Colts can live anywhere. They can even live in meditation centers. So, we now invite you to close your eyes, take a deep breath, let your auditory senses envelop you as we take you on a very hypnotic journey. Except for those who are driving, you should probably keep your eyes open. Yeah, don't close your eyes if you're driving. All right, we're going to shut up and we're going to let today's guests now take you on a journey. Purify me. Don't spare my life.
Starting point is 00:03:47 So my name is Diamond King. raised in Georgia. Otis out of six, with a religious background. I always had a safe family circle where my mom didn't make it be about like you have to believe it in the way that I'm telling you. So I feel like I was raised to be very open-minded and very much free spirit. I was never told from my parents that I wasn't allowed to read about different religions or different cultures.
Starting point is 00:04:28 They welcomed it, but I was on like this quest. Much of this was because of the fact that Diamond was raised with two religions in the home, Muslim and Baptist. And after middle school, her life took an interesting turn. My mom took me out of public school in the eighth grade. That's when those mass shootings started. And my mom was like, nah, we're not doing that. My mom made sure we had human interaction.
Starting point is 00:04:57 And again, I was the oldest out of six kids. So I wasn't ever like reclused. I was homeschooled toorn high school. I didn't, but to, but to, but to, but to, but to, but I didn't, but I didn't, but I didn't, but I didn't, but I didn't, but I didn't, but I didn't, but I didn't, but I didn't, but I didn't, but I wasn't ever like reclused. I was homeschooled torn high school. I didn't have a high school experience. But I didn't have the peer pressure to like, be cool or do something because other people were doing it. That's how I got into meditation. Because I felt like I was allowed to space to discover what I like and not follow what other people are doing because I don't
Starting point is 00:05:22 want to like make fun of and stuff. So my interest in meditation started when I was like 17. In the beginning, I was drawn to it because I knew that I had lived before and I wanted to remember my past life. And I didn't fully understand how I was going to get there, but I knew in order to get there I had to meditate. Once I felt like I was old enough to actually explore it and learn about it is when I started getting into meditating.
Starting point is 00:06:00 And I wanted it to be something that I did daily because I thought it would open up those memories. Quite a noble approach to wanting to expand the mind to other dimensions. Tedheads, take note. I'm telling you guys, she blew my own mind in this interview. I went to college for photography. When you learn about how light works, how light travels. That led me into the arena of meditation, yoga, sound healing because I was experiencing life
Starting point is 00:06:35 through the lens of watching how we love and how we move. But I don't know if you ever taken a picture or shot something, but in that moment, you're slowing down to capture reality. You know, so to see the meditation in that. I started doing weddings and I was doing events and I branched off into boudoir photography and that is around the time that I started having more spiritual experiences and questions and was meditating religiously. I just made sure I didn't miss a day.
Starting point is 00:07:19 And then I was in meditation one day and I saw a vision. I was hiding meditation one day and I saw a vision. I was hiding my kids somewhere. And it looks like I was hiding him in the cavern. And when I came out, I knew that those were kids that I had in a past life. After that, I remember continuing to meditate, because I was like, I'm trying to find the answers.
Starting point is 00:07:43 I was like, I gotta meditate to see what happened in a past life, but honestly, it's in the past. You don't need to search for meanings in a past life. You know what I mean? It's beautiful, it's great, but it's like, live now. And I dropped the past life thing and was on this love vibe. Like, if I met a person, I'm like, this is God, I'm gonna I'm gonna the the to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the the the to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the life thing and was on this love vibe. Like, if I met a person, I'm like, this is God, I'm gonna love them like I'm loving God. Like, really, it was really cheesy.
Starting point is 00:08:13 It was, I think I was reading that one of the ways that you throw away your ego or you're able to live fully through love, is looking back at the self. That you should meditate and forgive yourself, love yourself, whatever decisions that you made during that day, be at peace. I mean to be honest I kind of want to be Diamond in my next life. Is that too much to ask? Move over Dolly Lama. I'm voting for Diamond King for a spiritual president. So Diamond, well she was meditating, but she... Couldn't get consistent with it.
Starting point is 00:08:50 Like I was having problems looking at myself and, you know, I was judging because there was still a lot of naivety and just a lot of growth that I needed to go through. And this would have been 2014. And I turned to 26, and I just started thinking like, I put so much time into like my hobbies and my extracurricula. I didn't put a lot of time into men. And I went through a depression where I was like, damn, like, I want a husband, I want kids.
Starting point is 00:09:20 I felt like I was a weirdo and I felt like I wanted a guy that was a weirdo. Like I want a guy that I can meditate with and that he's gonna eat my vegetarian food and you know like I was like I want someone that's gonna vibe with me and in that process of me discovering who I was. I ran across a pamphlet. Beware of the pamphlet. Yeah except for all those cute little pamphlets when you go on vacation, you know, and they're the shelf and the bed and breakfast and they're like, come see a maple tree farm, see where syrup comes from. And then the cult is behind the syrup tree, like hello. You gotta read deeper, don't you? That's how they get you. Come see how cheese was made in the 1820s, huh? And then next thing you know, you're in a cheese ball.
Starting point is 00:10:05 And then the next day you have four wives and you can't leave and you're not calling your mom. All right, stay away from pamphlets. And it was like, throw away the human mind and activate your God consciousness, which was like terminology that I like believed in, right? And it's basically saying like, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you know, you know, you know, you know, th. thi, thi, the, the, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, the, the right? And it's basically saying like, you, you know, throw away different aspects of the ego and it's a meditation method that teaches you how to do that,
Starting point is 00:10:31 you know, I was like, oh cool, it's just dope. I think it took a month before I actually went, and it was a Korea group. The spot was called mom meditation, so spelled M-A-U-M. It means mind, so mind meditation. Not to be confused with mom meditation, a mindfulness practice where you're constantly interrupted every single time you sit down to do anything for yourself.
Starting point is 00:11:00 Here's how it goes. Sit quietly, close your eyes. Your mantra is mom. Mom. Mom. Mom. Mom. Mom.
Starting point is 00:11:13 Mom. Mom. Where's my lunch? Mom, where's my shoes? Mom, come here. Mom. Go away. Mom. Be right there, honey.
Starting point is 00:11:24 It's a very peaceful practice. It was in a business plaza, like an insurance place or like a nail salon. And so they show you a little video. I like watched a video and I was like, oh, this sounds dope. And then she told me her price and I was like, ooh, it's still dope, you know. It was $150 a month and she was just like it's an investment but the money goes toward helping the center and I spent $150 a boulshed, you know so I'm just like you know this is for your spiritual wellness. So that's I you kind of talking myself into it. Oh yes all of my favorite cults are in strip malls. This particular cult slash strip mall was located in Swanee, Georgia, a nice suburb of Atlanta. Shout out to Atlanta. You know, for the fact-finding mission I tried to find some famous people from
Starting point is 00:12:14 Swanee and of the 32 prominent individuals who hailed from that particular town, 30 of them were athletes, mostly professional football players. One was a politician. The other was Miss Georgia from 2012. Oh, me? Gosh. We should get her on this show. I'm sure that's a cult. When we start, it's a bit odd. So I had the disarmament of knowing, like, oh, this is a little off. But I also have this other part of me that's not judgmental and I know like in order to get to aspects of yourself you're gonna have to go through some uncomfortability, do some weird stuff. So how this
Starting point is 00:12:54 organization works is each center has people who work there called helpers. Although I might change the word work to heavily coerced volunteer. So the helpers would sit in a room with you while you're meditating and and they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they're they they they they they they they they they they they they they're they're they're they're like like like like like like like like like like like they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to their. their. their. they're the word work to heavily coerced volunteer. So the helpers would sit in a room with you while you're meditating and they would talk you through each level. And the mind control kind of works like hypnosis. So whenever you are in meditation, you enter different brain waves naturally. The method that they were using, which they were saying, cleanse the mind. But cleanse the mind is just another word for brainwash.
Starting point is 00:13:28 Get it, brain wash, cleanse mind. So it's kind of in your face, kind of felt a little dumb. But anyway, so when I did the cleansing of the mind, which was the first 30 days, I did feel light. I did feel amazing. I felt great. Had I stopped then and never went back, I would have been solid. And they know that, they use that to lure people in. They're like, I'm going to give them bits of truth and then after we get them in there, then we're going to start the bullshit.
Starting point is 00:13:54 The person that created this, all I can say is they're very well versed in the mind. I was like, this was not accidental. The shit was done on purpose. They knew what they were doing. They knew the science behind it. It was very meticulously designed. Tyler, you haven't commented on my jumpsuit yet today. Not very attentive co-host, am I? But it is lovely. It's a lovely jumpsuit, because?
Starting point is 00:14:22 I'm quite the expert on this, but I'm going to say? $50. I mean I gotta tell you, linen jumpsuit looks like it costs at least 200. So here is Diamond. She's wading into this meditation group, which, spoiler alert, becomes a cult. And like all my favorite cults, this one had levels. There's eight levels. You have to pass each level, and so there's like this secrecy behind it a little bit, and it kind of like pushes you and kind of like competitive, th, the th, th, and kind of, and kind of, and kind of, and kind of, the th, and kind of, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th your every every every every every every every every every thi-e every every every every every every every every day thi-e every day thi-e, their every every every every every every every every every every every every every every every every every every every every every every every every every every every every every every every every every every every every every every, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi-a, thi-a, thi-a, thi-a, thi-a, thiia' every day thia' every day thia' every day thia' every day thia' every day thia'era'era'era'era' their th pass each level. And so there's like this secrecy behind it a little bit and it kind of like pushes you.
Starting point is 00:17:08 I'm kind of competitive like I'm an Airy so I'm like I gotta get to the next level. Stupid ass. Like I guess. Each level you are throwing something new away. So it started off with you bring up an image of yourself. You see yourself die like in some kind of way, and you see your spirit leave your body, and your spirit goes off into the universe, and then you start looking back at your life.
Starting point is 00:17:35 Now you would start to throw away the image of your body. And when I say image, it's like you're pulling up memories and you have to see it burning or disappearing in your mind. You would have to bring up every relationship you had been in, every childhood memory, so that you would stop associating with the physical world and that you would only associate with just energy and spirit. That's a very clever way of getting you to detach from your life and loved ones and slowly lose your individuality. One through three is literally you throwing away memories of your whole life.
Starting point is 00:18:12 And two, you're getting rid of your family. And three, I think you're getting rid of what you identify in your environment, like your world, your workplace, physical places, desires, things that it's your outward expression. For is when you've thrown away your entire image of you and you're just the universe, but you're in that level for like maybe two months or maybe two and a half months, and that's when you start to realize that nothing is what you think it is. Everything is energy.
Starting point is 00:18:47 The helpers are like, what's this? And they'll like point to a pillow. And you're like, that's the universe. Or they'll point to a person. I'm like, that's the universe. Well, the universe. And mind you, they had to go and make it culty. They always have to make it so culte.
Starting point is 00:19:13 Although it's just those people that are on our show. I mean, there's plenty of groups that don't go culty, but they don't happen to make an appearance on was I an occult, obviously. Obvious facts by Tyler Mesa. When you get to the end of that level, it's when they started throwing in the suggestions that the founders are God, literally. Like you think of them as God, they're saying that.
Starting point is 00:19:36 And my guess is because by the time you get to that point, you've already thrown away enough of your self-autonomy in your image, already thrown away enough of your self-autonomy and your image to just kind of go with it. There are three people that's supposed to be the founders, the husband, the wife, and the son. Uyong, who is the founder, that's his name. I was told that he was meditating on the mountains one day, and the method just came to him about how to throw away the false mind and that humans weren't living like they should live and that he was just trying to help them live as God. Needless to say there is little public information available on his early life and personal background.
Starting point is 00:20:15 He was married, he did have a son. The wife and the son were part of the organization. They were called Sissonyms, which means master in Korean, and we never saw him. We were to lower level people were not allowed to see them because we lived in our picture worlds. If you haven't thrown away enough of your pictures, when you see him, you'll judge him. They started in South Korea, when they would say, "'Sizzanem has come here because he no longer needs to be in South Korea. It's time for him to travel and spread and then they branched out into America.
Starting point is 00:20:47 And I think they had told me at the time that they were like over 150 sinners in America. So I was like, oh, this is legit. They got 150 sinners. That's dope. Well, if there's one Fucker's setting up franchises. Fuck, you're setting up franchises. So after 30 days, I could feel myself no longer a shell of being human, but I could feel myself being God or part of the collective. I know what that sounds like, sounds like kind of weird,
Starting point is 00:21:19 like I'm God, but it wasn't like that, it was just kind of like I could feel how I was part of the whole and how you know it's about love and and it was so strong that I was sold. And I was telling my mom about it. I was like mom let me tell you and I'm telling her my experience. I'm telling like I'm crying and she's like, my baby. She says, I'm happy for you. she said, but I just want to remind you, she says, you're in a very vulnerable place when you meditate, so just be careful. She said, just be careful. And I was like, okay, I was like, yeah, I'm careful. Like, it's cool. And for a while, well, it was cool.
Starting point is 00:21:58 You just go in whenever you want to meditate once in a while. And they would say this, they would be like, you need to come every day. And at first I was like, I don't come every day. I didn't like meditate at home, but then they were, but they were really like persistent. They basically were saying that when you don't come as often, your picture world kind of back up. Like you're not throwing the picture world and so you're living more in the false world and not in the true world. I took that as, I'm not trying to get back up.
Starting point is 00:22:27 What happened is I ended up coming every day. I was still doing boudoir photography at this point. I would come after work sometimes, so I would like maybe get there at 5 o'clock, and I wouldn't leave until 10 o'clock at night. When I tell people that like like that like that like that like that like I that like I th. I th. I thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi, like, like, like, I'm thi, I'm thi, I'm thi, I'm thi, I'm thi, I'm, thi, I'm, thi, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I th is thi, I th is th is thi, I th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooom. I the is the is tell people that like I used to meditate for like hours at a time, they're like what? And I'm like it's possible. But when I look back I'm like, oh, that's how they get you. Because I was going every day and doing it for hours, it worked like hypnosis. They started saying that the Sysonyms were the masters of the universe. I'm like, I'm the universe. And Sisynnym is the masters the masters the masters the masters the masters the masters the masters the masters the masters the masters the masters the masters the masters the masters the masters the masters the masters the masters the masters is the masters is the masters is the masters is the masters is the the the the the the the the th is th is th is th is th is th is possible it's possible it's possible it's possible it's possible it's possible it's possible it's possible it's possible it's possible it's possible it's possible it's possible it's possible is possible is possible is possible is the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the masters of the universe. I'm like, I'm the universe. And Sysonym is the masters of the universe.
Starting point is 00:23:09 So who's the master over you? And they do it right when you've come out of meditating for three hours. So you're in a hyper-sugustible state. What I was told about level six and seven is that you completely throw away your human mind, like you no longer have a human mind, and now you just have the mind of God, and you do as God would do. You don't see people as separate than you, you see them as God. So when you give, you're giving to God. And now for the
Starting point is 00:23:43 financial abuse portion of our show. Usually it comes earlier in the episode. I learned that there's always one person that is a sponsor that is one of the meditators. And they dedicate their life to paying for the center. It is a person. So we had a person there that was a doctor. And she would pay the rent for the center. She was obligated to pay the bills and any time they didn't
Starting point is 00:24:11 have funds, she carried it. She also took care of the helpers when they would get new members. Anybody that had money they would basically persuade them into donating to the center. Again, I see it as like, you know, a church, you have the tide. I wasn't seeing it at that time being weird because I know that a nonprofit organization has to get funding somewhere. How it was presented was like, oh, I want to do it. You know what I mean? Like, this is how I'm giving to God. But I was realizing that a lot of tho tho thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, tho, tho, tho, tho, thi, thi, thi, their their, their, their, their, their, their, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, they thi, thi, thi, they would would would would thi, thi, thi, they would would would thi. thi. thiiiiiiiiiiiiii. thiiii. they they would would would thi. they they would would thi, thi, this is how I'm giving to God. But I was realizing that a lot of people had been brainwashed to giving away their 401k,
Starting point is 00:24:50 their retirement, selling all of their property, and giving their property to mom meditation because they had been brainwashed. A true crime podcast. It got me upset because this is someone's kid and someone knows she's gone. That takes a different approach. It was shocking for something like this to happen in our little town. Focusing on the communities affected by life-shattering crimes. It made news throughout the entire region that these two people had been shot while they slept in such a safe community. To give a new perspective on the devastation crimes can cause.
Starting point is 00:25:28 It was shocking for something like this to happen in our little town. Featuring cases from quiet towns to bustling cities and interviewing the people closest to the case. My first thought was that it's an unusual location for us to have a homicide. Listen to the true crime podcast, City Confidential, and step beyond the yellow tape to learn just how far a crime can reach. There are certain cases in the history of Boston that I think sort of define the city. I think this is one of all. New episodes of the City Confidential Podcasts.
Starting point is 00:26:01 Available wherever you get your podcast. So, after a full year of her being with the group, she became more and more entrenched. She even went as far as to move in with someone from the group. I had already been there for maybe 10 or 11 months, so I had already been fully immersed in the organization. I was guiding quite a few members, so I would have to come earlier. So if I was coming in regularly and I would be there for four hours, now they want me to come maybe six hours. We want you to guide someone that's going to come in at this time. And it was like volunteering again. It's nothing wrong with that because I was thinking, like church. You're like church, you you you you go go go go go go go go go go go go go, you go, you go, you go, you go, you go, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you're going, you're going, you're going, you're going, you're going, you're going, you're going, you, you're going, to go, to go, to go, to go, to go, to go, to go, to go, to go, to go, to get, to get, to get, to get, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. to, thi, to, was like volunteering. Again, it's nothing wrong with that because I was thinking like church. I was like church, you go volunteer church, you don't expect
Starting point is 00:26:48 to get paid or anything like that. I was moving through the levels pretty quickly and so they had already been like within this time you'll be at level eight. Once you're in the eighth level is when you meet SISINNN. And then after that you're going to get stationed. to get to get to get to get to get stationed to get stationed to get stationed to get stationed to get stationed to get stationed to get stationed to get stationed to get stationed to get stationed to get stationed to get stationed to get stationed to get stationed to get stationed at stationed at stationed at stationed at to get stationed at to get stationed at to get stationed at to get to get stationed at to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to go to Vietnam to complete your helper training and then after that you're going to get stationed at a center. I think one of the reasons why they did ask me and choose me was because Diamond would make an awesome helper. She's going to be able to bring in more Americans and more young people as well. And you know they were like you're young, you don't have kids, you're not married, that's perfect. And since the cult wanted her to recruit more young Americans, they were pushing her to
Starting point is 00:27:31 recruit more young Americans, they were pushing her to stay single and without any kids. A childless cat lady. Because they did want her to recruit more young Americans, they were pushing her to stay single and without any kids. A childless cat lady. And the way they did this was a mild push while she was under the spell of their hypnosis. There was a suggestion that was dropped in while I was meditating. About basically being married and having kids is a product of a picture world. It's false.
Starting point is 00:28:06 It's just you trying to survive because me having a baby is me trying to live through the baby. It's my legacy, right? So I'm still trying to survive into the picture world. What happened is I took that in and it was just like, ew, like, why? Like, so self-judging. It's like, why are you trying to stick around? That's not what you came here for, you know?
Starting point is 00:28:31 Then I kind of like took it on as my own thought or my own belief, because my mom was like, you've always wanted kids, you've always wanted to get married, like, where, what the hell was going? And that is when my experiences started getting extremely weird. I started disassociating from myself and my personality. My personality was very muted. Because I had to do a lot of meditations that was surrounded about my self-expression, there was one about the colors that I wore. And I was like, oh my God, I wear all these like pastel and bright colors because I want attention and I want people to see me and I want to be noticed. You want to feel like you exist, but you don't exist. You're just the universe.
Starting point is 00:29:19 And I was pushing people away because it was like, well, if they're not going to the center to meditate with me, then I can't really, you know, have them in my life. I had two cats, and I just gave my two cats away. Just gave them away. Just because it was like one of the suggestions of like, you want a cat so that you're not alone. And yeah, of course I want a cat because I'm allowed. Like, what do you mean? But it's like, yeah, you can't have pets if you become a helper. But I loved my cats. Like, anyway, I missed them.
Starting point is 00:29:52 I started saying that my dreams and my goals didn't matter. All that mattered was meditating, literally. I told my mom I was gonna sell all my photography equipment. My mom was like, you are out of your mind, you're not selling anything. I started throwing away like artwork and poetry, movies that I wrote and books and things that I had been writing, threw them away. I would go and meditate and throw away myself. And then in real life, I was throwing away basically parts of my
Starting point is 00:30:25 humanity and disassociating from it. I was a 27 year old girl and I pushed away any guy that I like had any interest in or that was interested in me. I went from wanting to have a family and want to have kids to not wanting a family and not wanting kids. In a way, I became unhuman or inhuman like I was supposed to be more enlightened and living less in my ego, but I wasn't living at all. All of a sudden it doesn't sound quite as enlightening. But she was in and she was fully committed at this point. I had decided that I was going to be a helper.
Starting point is 00:31:07 So my plans was to sell all my stuff and I was going to go to Vietnam, I think for a few months to train. And my mom knew about it. I think I invited my mom to like a potluck that the center had. And my mom, after the potluck, was like, yeah, we need to to like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, a to like, a to like, a to like, a to like, a to like, a to like, a to like, a to like, a to like, a to like, a to like, a to like, a to like, like, like, like, after the pop luck, was like, yeah, we need to talk. She was like, you're not gonna like what I'm gonna say, but I'm gonna say it. She was like, when you first started the meditation, she said, you seemed good.
Starting point is 00:31:34 She said, it seemed like it was helping you with whatever it was that you were going through. But in the last six months, when I look in your eyes, she says, you're saying one thing like you're happy, you're smiling, but your eyes are crying to me. What I do know is, is I know my child, and she says something is not right with your spirit. It has to do with that proof. I've raised you to be open-minded and free-spirited, and I want you to always learn, and I don't want you to judge or stifle, but I'm not about to let to let to let to let to let to let to let to let to let to let to let to let you to let to let to let to let to let to let to let to let to let to let you to let you to let to let you to let you to let you to let you to let you to let you to always learn and I don't want you to judge or stifle, but I'm not about to let you make a mistake. She says, it's a cult. I know colt's when I see one. She says,
Starting point is 00:32:13 you need to do more research outside of what they've given you to figure out what you're doing before you leave this country. Because you can get over there and anything can happen and I wouldn't be able to help you. And at this time, I'm th. I'm you you you you you you you you you you you you you the th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to their their their their their the. I the. I'm the. I'm the. the. their their their their their their their the their to their their to their to to to to to happen and I wouldn't be able to help you. And at this time I'm pissed, I'm mad. I'm like, you don't know what you're talking about. These people are helping people, like you don't get it. Like I'm crying. I'm pissed at her. I'm like, you're just negative. She was like, you can say whatever you want to say. I know what I'm talking about. You know, on second thought I kind of want to be Diamond's mom in the next life.
Starting point is 00:32:47 She sounds very nice. She's a badass. She does sound like a badass. So Diamond's mother had warned her daughter previously, but unlike the first time, this was a little more direct, calling out that it was in fact a cult. But wisely, her mother didn't just tell her to leave. She just wanted her dear daughter to do a bit more research. And I started doing research outside of their website, outside of their YouTube channel,
Starting point is 00:33:17 and started finding crazy stuff where families were saying like, I lost my husband to this cold, then I had two kids and my husband to this cold and I had two kids and my husband just left us one day and has never returned. People saying that they had you know given their retirement fund away and then I got on one forum and they were like the founder he's not in South Korea anymore because he had so many people trying to kill him because once they found out they had been brainwashed and that he had took their money, that the country had to exile him because of people trying
Starting point is 00:33:51 to murder him. So that's why he's in America. I'm just finding all this stuff, and I am feeling like, holy shit, Diamond, you have felt like something had been taken from me, and I felt like, why would somebody do something???????, th......., th., th., th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, the their, their, their, their, their, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi.a.a.a.a.a.a.a.a.a.a.a.a.a.a.a.a.a, thi.a, thi.a, thi.a, thi, th like something had been taken from me and I felt like why would somebody do something like this? Take away someone's autonomy? And I didn't feel safe. I didn't feel safe in my mind because I was like, oh my God, I've been doing this thing and now I don't know what it is that I've really been doing. And I start sitting with myself and realizing like, oh God, I've been under hypnosis and realizing like my mind had
Starting point is 00:34:30 been hijacked and seeing the ways in which it happened that just seems so natural. It didn't seem like what you would think it would be, you know. No cult ever is. I then decided, okay, I'm not going back. I sat down and talked to my mom and I was crying. I apologized to her. I told her what I'd found. And she was like, hey, I'm gonna go with you, because I'd moved in with them.
Starting point is 00:35:01 She was like, I'm gonna go with you to move your things. I don't want you to be by yourself. And remember I called the center and I told them that I was not coming back. I think I said something like, always love you guys. I have no ill feelings to a job and she said something like, well you'll always be welcomed here and you can always come back. So Diamond was now out. But speaking from my own experience as a former Mormon missionary, once your eyes are open, you worry that you propagated nonsense, that you brought people into an organization
Starting point is 00:35:39 that you no longer believe in, and you want to somehow remedy that. Make it right, Tyler. Make it right. Why I do this fucking show, Liz. That's why I do this fucking show, Liz. Liz. Liz. Liz. Liz. Liz. Liz. Liz. Liz. that, Liz. that, Liz, Liz, Liz, Liz, Liz, Liz. that, that, that, that, that, that, that, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but. But. But. But. But. But, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi remedy that. Make it right, Tyler. Make it right. Why do this fucking show, Liz? That and the millions of dollars. And all the cat litter. All the cat litter. The American students that I had guided, I contacted each and every one of them and I told
Starting point is 00:36:04 them what I found. I apologized to them because I felt like, that I felt like, one of them, and I told them what I found. I apologized to them because I felt like that was karma that was gonna be on me, even though my intention wasn't to mislead. I knew that they were going to make something up in the center and be like, Diamond didn't throw away her false world. And was like absolutely not I'm going to tell my own story and then they can decide from there and majority of all of the Americans that I did speak to did not go back and they are living normalized now.
Starting point is 00:36:40 She did say the majority not everyone. Years later I randomly meet this girl and the girl is talking about her mom and my mom is part of a cult. And my mom doesn't care about me and my brother. And I was like, what's the name of the cult? And this girl says, mom meditation. And I was like, how long has she been in? And she like, says how many years? And I'm like, damn, that's like how long I've been gone.
Starting point is 00:37:08 And then she looks at me and she says something like, you're the diamond that used to guide my mom. And I just realized within a instant who her mom was. I started crying. And I was like, your mom is still in. And my whole soul hurt. I let her know. I said I left years ago and I told your mom. I said I didn't leave your mom there. I told her everything that I knew and what I experienced and I said I had no idea that she wasn't going to listen. When that happened, that is when I was like, yeah, I think I need to like
Starting point is 00:37:46 see more professionals about this situation because I realized me breaking down crying like that and the responsibility that I felt for those people, even though it's not my responsibility. I started working with a doctor, I worked with two different doctors. One doctor, she does like spinal network analysis and she basically was like, hey, I was in a cult years ago and she was like, you're gonna be okay. I also worked with the hypnotherapist. She explained what had happened to me psychologically and what had happened to my subconscious mind and that I needed to go out and be as human as possible. I needed to to be as human as possible. I needed to me psychologically and what had happened to my subconscious mind and that
Starting point is 00:38:25 I needed to go out and be as human as possible. I needed to have a boyfriend. I needed to spend time with my friends and family, travel. She was like dreams, desires, like you need to do all of that. So my healing process did not happen overnight. I want to say it was like a three-year journey. But it all really revolved around feeling safe in my mind because that's where the invasion happened.
Starting point is 00:38:53 When I tell people that was in a cult, they immediately think sex cults. They think like Jim Jones drink the juice, and I think it's important to talk about different aspects of coats that are that extreme. You know, a meditation cult, you're like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, and thi thi thi, and thi, and thi, and thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, that's that's that's that's that's that's, that's, that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's that's, that's that's that's, that's that's thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, that's thi, thi, that's not that's not thi, that's not that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's th of codes that aren't that extreme. You know, a meditation cult, you're like throwing away your self-autonomy and your identity and your image. There's nothing wrong with being human. There's nothing wrong with the image of yourself. There's nothing wrong with your emotions.
Starting point is 00:39:16 There's nothing wrong with wanting love and wanting a wife or a husband or kids. There's nothing wrong with having desires. There was psychological things thi to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to their, their, their, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, their, thi, thi, thi, thi, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, the, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, throw, throw, thi, thiiiiiiiiiiolooomoomorrow, thoomorrow, thooomorrow, thoomorrow, their self-a, their self-a, thi, thi, there's nothing wrong with having desires. There was psychological things that were pushed on me through meditation where you kind of felt like you didn't want to live. And having that year of not living and not truly just going out and just being, was like, it almost felt like I died, which was crazy because that's what I was doing in my mind. The method was killing yourself, right? And when I came out, I had this thirst to just live life, to just explore, travel, go after my dreams.
Starting point is 00:40:02 I felt like I can do anything. And so I applied for a scholarship to get my yoga certification in Hawaii and got the scholarship so got my training paid for. I found a hypnotherapy school that was in my state and applied there like I was like I'm, I'm like I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm. I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm. I'm, I'm, I'm. I'm. I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm a, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I, I, I, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I, I'm, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm a, I'm, I'm, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a, I'm a the, I'm a the, I'm a the, I'm a the the the to, I'm a to, I'm a to, I'm a to, I'm a to, I'm a the, I'm a the, I'm a was in my state and applied there. Like I was like, I'm about to be so like knowledgeable. I came out like a beast. If you want to do something, just do it. We are here to live life. Have fun, play. Feel. Be human. Like, there's nothing wrong with that shit. I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, there. I, like, there's, I, I, I, I, I, I, there. There. There. There, there. There, there. There's, there. There's, there. I, there. I, there. I, there. I, there. I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, I, there. I, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, there. there. there. there. there. there. there. there, there, there, there. there, there, there, there, there, there. There's, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, play, feel, be human. Like, there's nothing wrong with that shit. I told you this episode would cause spontaneous enlightenment.
Starting point is 00:40:56 And did it work, guys? Do you feel more in toub in toub? I definitely feel moved. Maybe you'll let me meditate now, Tyler. Probably not, Liz. Quiet down all that noise up in your head that that that the that thi, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like thi, like thi, like thi, like thi, like thi, like thi, like thi, like thi, like thi, like thi, like thi, like thi, like thi, like thi, like, like, like, like, like thi, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, that, thiomomomomomomomomomomom, that that that that that that thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thiiii, thiiiiiiiiiiiiiii, that that thii, that, thi, thiii, thiii, thiiii, thiii now, Tyler. Probably not, Liz. Quiet down all that noise up in your head that gets in my way. Could you meditate for my benefit, please? The only noise in my head is you and my headphones. So the forced hypnotic meditation had convinced Diamond that she didn't want a man. Yet, just a few months after leaving the cult,
Starting point is 00:41:27 she met him. And? I got married. He was at the time of firemen, and I don't want to be like, cliche, but he was like, hopping off the truck. And I'm like, hey, and I actually, I met him like four or five months after I got out the coat.
Starting point is 00:41:49 I was ready to love and find my soulmate. And he does yoga, he does meditation, not as much as me, but he's very open, which is why I love him so much. He's down to eat like vegan food every night and not complain. He's just like, thanks baby. you know. She, he. She, she. She, she. She, she. She, she. She, she. She, she. She, she. She, she. She, she. She, she. She, she. She, she. She, she. She, she. She, she. She, she's. She, she's. She, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's just like, damn these vegetables good. It's like, thanks baby. You know? She finally found her dream guy.
Starting point is 00:42:12 And while she had moved on from the cult, well, the cult was still moving on. As cults tend to do, fucking cults. The last I checked, they changed their name because there were so many people exposing mom. They usually changed the name to match the city that they're in. So if you were in LA, it would just be like the Los Angeles Meditation Center. I have no idea if the specific center that I was going to, it was in Swanee, Georgia. I do not know if it's still open. Last week I was in Swanny, to to to toa, to toa, the toa, to to to toa, the toa, tha, tha, thiii, thi, thi, thi, thi, and thi, thi, and thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, their their their their tho, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, their people their people their their, their, their their their, their their their their, their their thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, thi, thi, thi, thi center that I was going to, it was in Swanee, Georgia. I do not know if it's still open.
Starting point is 00:42:46 Last week, I was in Swanee, Georgia and I was like, driving down the street and I had a feeling of like, I should go see if it's there. And I definitely was like, nah. But yeah, no, I don't need to do that. Like, girl, go home. Don't just keep driving. After interview, I remember that I'd forgot to ask Diamond about her meditation practice today, so I emailed her and this is what she said. Today, on average, she meditates between 20 to 45 minutes a day.
Starting point is 00:43:16 Sometimes she may meditate 11 minutes in the morning and then again at night. She uses many different methods and is not of the belief that there is only one true way to meditate. So if anyone anyone the the th anyone th anyone th anyone th anyone th anyone th anyone th any th any th any thany thany thi anyone thi anyone thi one thi one thi thi thi thi. She thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, the, the. the. the. the. the. thea. thea. thoooooooooooooooooooo' to to to the belief that there is only one true way to meditate.
