Starting point is 00:01:03 people are making some questions very interesting on the Formula One and Apple. So, we can't get a lot to do to find in the time.
Starting point is 00:01:13 What is up, people of the internet? Welcome to the world blah, blah, wow, I've never done this before. Nice. What is up, People of the Internet?
Starting point is 00:01:28 Welcome to another episode of the Waveform podcast, a bonus episode. I right now am your host, Ellis, and I am with... I'm David. And I'm Andrew. Wow.
Starting point is 00:01:39 Oh, David, I'm Adam. And this is officially the second hottest outdoor waveform podcast of the year. It is not 100 degrees, but it is very close. Pretty damn close. Almost as hot as in the studio and we don't run the AC. Yeah. I think like we train all year for this moment.
Starting point is 00:01:53 That's so true. So you're probably asking, where are we? You're probably not asking that because we are in Cooper Tino, the iPhone event just finished. Marquez and David are in Apple's like real campus, getting breached. briefings, shooting the event, shooting the devices, getting hands-on, doing that whole thing. Dapping up speed. Dapping up speed. It just happened.
Starting point is 00:02:14 Go watch the Vod. I'm hip. I know what it is. So since we are not actually allowed inside Apple Campus to see anything, we are doing the second-ever edition of Waveform Man on the Street, live from Cooper Tino. And we're just going to pull random people and see what they think about the event, about the iPhone duo, about that new, about that new thermal placing inside the A20 that lets us I thought you're going to say the new CEO who also.
Starting point is 00:02:42 Oh, yeah. Yeah, that happened. That whatever, you know what I mean? It's someone else's turn. Oh. So. Yeah. First guess.
Starting point is 00:02:53 Yeah. Should we find our first victim? Well, we're lucky enough that two people have already shown up and they're returners from last year. So we have to have them on. Who wants to come first? True waveform super fans. may recognize him. His name is.
Starting point is 00:03:08 Kavi. Kavi, welcome back. Thank you. Last time you were here, pretty much all we had to talk about was a vapor chamber and the color orange. Right. Now you're back, and there's a ton to discuss. There's a new CEO.
Starting point is 00:03:22 There's a whole new device. The watch isn't ceramic. I don't know. Whatever. I guess we'll kick it off. How do you feel about the duo? What thoughts are racing through your head about this thing? I thought it was pretty interesting.
Starting point is 00:03:34 I'm really curious to see how durability. will hold up and also how hot it's going to get. Yeah. The internals of the phone are in the pill, or a lot of them are. I mean, it really feels like they're doing the iPhone airplay again, right? Like, it seems like I haven't gotten to confirm it yet, but the battery doesn't have a vapor chamber. It's all day battery life, but worse than the, like, it's this new hardware spectacle with potentially not as great specs.
Starting point is 00:04:01 Yeah. I forget. Did the main camera on the duo also have that variable aperture thing they brought in on the pro? No. It did not, which we kept trying to figure out what iPhone camera they plucked for that device. I think Andrew... I think it's the iPhone Air. I think Alex called it.
Starting point is 00:04:18 Yeah. He was like, this is just the Airs camera plus a telephoto. I guess that makes sense. I think it does make sense because it's the thinner. They're used to doing it on that camera bar. It's almost exactly the same. It's the thinnest iPhone ever, which we all were assuming we were going to get iPhone Air 2X. they like lob the they gave it a haircut and made it a little shorter but um it is interesting i'm wondering what crease will look like obviously they're not going to show a crease in any of
Starting point is 00:04:41 the renders of things but what are your thoughts on price what were you thinking before you saw the price and now what are your thoughts of seeing the 1999 i think it's about what i expected really yeah i thought maybe it would be a bit more like a little more expensive like i know 2,300 or something okay But I'm not shocked to see it here. Really? I am. I'm shocked to see under two. I mean, at two. We all around the office were like, this is going to be 2,500.
Starting point is 00:05:13 It's going to be 2,700. We were expecting like a big, big giant price. Right. You have an interesting perspective. I feel like everyone uses folds in sort of different way. There's not like one use case. But super fans may remember, you are in flight school pursuing a commercial pilots license. And last time you were here, we talked about all the different ways people use iPads in the cockpit.
Starting point is 00:05:36 Do you think pilots will be using an open iPhone duo in the cockpit? I think it could be really cool to see if like four-flight, Garmin Pilot, they provide an update to make it work. If they can get it to work, I think the primary concern would again be just cooling. iPads already overheat, like when you're flying on over Bakersfield or something, then come back here. So hopefully it's not... Hopefully it's not too much of an issue with the folding phone. But if they can solve that, I don't really think it would be too much.
Starting point is 00:06:11 I see it as pretty likely. This might be a dumb question. I'm not a pilot, which should be painfully obvious. When you use an iPad in the cockpit, you also have your phone. Now if your phone is the tablet, I don't know how often you're potentially using your phone while you're flying. plane, does that pose an issue? Like, are most people used to not their personal device being the, you know, the tablet or screen for being a pilot? So now your personal device is being used for that. Is that an issue? I don't think so. The same app for flight, people can use both
Starting point is 00:06:49 on iPad and iPhone. Okay. I know some people who would just fly without an iPad and just use their phone. Okay. But I think most people would use an iPad. Um, he's So, no, I don't see it as being an issue if it's like both devices being in one. I would have loved for you to tell me that nobody ever looks at their phone while they're flying a plane. But, okay, cool. I hope more people use this. You're primarily looking outside, but like instead of my eye... Primarily, yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:17 I wish it was all the time. The IFR conditions exist, man. Yeah, it's supervised. Yeah. We cannot escape the elephant in the room. This was our very first John Turner. hosted event. How do you think he did?
Starting point is 00:07:34 I think he did pretty well. Didn't hear a good morning in the beginning. I know. I know. Well, we were wondering if it would be a new thing. He said, hello and welcome. Do we think that is just a... Sorry, I got distracted.
Starting point is 00:07:50 Now that we're cut. Do we think that was just an intro right now and he's going to keep it? Or do we think this is going to be a stick? I liked it, honestly. Hello and welcome. I'm down. I think it'll be a stick. You think he sticks with it? I think I'll be thought about it.
Starting point is 00:08:05 So we didn't, did anyone see any video of, because usually they come out on stage and say something. Do we think he said any, he also said hello and welcome? I don't, I didn't, I missed it. I don't know. Tim Cook has so much, like he's able to say so much and also say so little at the same time. Like his southern accent, this sort of like very stern face and, but it's like stern but friendly he puts on. I feel like it's so easy to think about who he is on the inside while watching Tim Cook speak. And I don't get that from John Ternis yet.
Starting point is 00:08:39 He sort of just feels like blank executive. I don't remember what the first Tim Cook one of these was like, but I'm really curious if we'll eventually like form this vision. The first thing I saw when he came on is I was like, what are those sneakers? I feel like every tech exec ever has those exact sneakers. Except Tim Cook, who always came out with fire. One more thing about the event is this is from, as far as I can remember, the first time we didn't get the base iPhone at all mentioned. We went straight to the pro.
Starting point is 00:09:12 All the rumors are pointing to base iPhone comes out in spring, which is now presumably a second event or a third event. I don't even know with Dubdub. Do we think that's weird? Do we think we're just in the new age of, you know, September event is just the big dogs? Although we got random AirPods, I'm confused. The more I say it out loud. Yeah, I think it's a little surprising. I'm not sure how many other companies really do that.
Starting point is 00:09:39 That's a good, yeah. Like Google does the A series later, but Apple's always done the SE or the whatever version E now at a different time. So I guess we're going to get like base iPhone E, maybe Air in like a spring event kind of thing. I'm cool with that, man. As someone who for the past few years I've had to make what felt like 10 million iPhone videos every September,
Starting point is 00:10:04 the fact that I can spread out my year a little bit, you know, maybe we'll get new color, like it'll, I don't know. Arguably the best part about this event was going home and knowing for main channel we only have to make two videos. Like, we might even get to cover AirPods or something. And those two videos are AirPods 5 and watch.
Starting point is 00:10:21 And, you know, ceramic watch series. And swelamic watch. Dude, thanks so much for coming on again. It's always a pleasure to see you. We're going to go search the seven Cs for another victim. And by search the seven Cs, he's standing right here because he also came to join her. Yeah, yeah. Dude, I need a towel.
Starting point is 00:10:39 I'm sweating so bad. This is great. You better leave that in. We are back with another guest, still Ellis, still Andrew, but now we have. Emily. Thank you very much for joining us. Yeah. You are a unique guest because you say you,
Starting point is 00:10:54 only watched the first 40 minutes of the event. I did. I sped run it on like three times speed as I was driving over here. That's awesome. And what did you think? Um, I think Mr. Turnis did a great job. The handoff was cute. Handoff was cute. I was really hoping they would do the Apple like, like where you touch the phone. Oh. Like contact sharing and then. The CEO position would like transfer over, but no. I that would be a great use of that feature. because I'm not sure that anyone uses that. I've tried to use it. I've tried to use it a lot.
Starting point is 00:11:29 And sometimes it even works. My problem with it is you can't select. And I know every time I say I have a problem with text, someone's like, Ellis, you're wrong. So I know it's going to happen again. But I keep accidentally giving out, like, really personal information. Because you can't choose what parts of your contact get transferred over. So like, I'll be doing like a random business thing.
Starting point is 00:11:48 And then it's like, oh, you have my home address now. Like, are you're sharing your, you are actually trying to share your contact. Yeah, yeah, but I wish it would just share my name, my phone number, and my email. I'm sure I can change this and I'm just... It only happens when I, like, stack phones with friends and then it will accidentally happen. For me, it used to happen all the time also when I wore an Apple Watch, I would accidentally initiate it between my watch and my phone all the time and it drive me and saying, okay, back to the event. This is event talk. So you got iPhone 18 Pro. Sure, yeah. Thoughts on the colors? We haven't talked about colors yet. We haven't talked
Starting point is 00:12:22 about colors yet um I thought they look nice I'm I'm reping the blue 13 pro max so it's kind of reminiscent of yeah it is a really similar blue I like the burgundy I don't know if my shoes are in shot but they are very yeah um so the colors are trendy I like that they're a little bit more muted but still like really rich and like dual toned yeah the pros are lots have fun this year Yeah, final. Did you say jewel-toned or dual-toned? Jewel-toned. Okay, because a conversation we were having is on the 17 pros,
Starting point is 00:13:01 there's sort of this two-tone thing that happens between the glass and the aluminum, and it seemed like this year, they're flush. Yeah, well, they made a big deal about that, that the, like, aluminum and the glass are, like, tone-matched. I like my panda iPhone. I was a little bunt. Well, you guys are caseless, right? Those people are.
Starting point is 00:13:20 I thought it said tasteless, and I was like, you're right, but that's a bold thing to say. This is the first phone in my life that's had a case on it. Not in my life, but since like middle school, it's had a case on it. Yeah. I don't know why.
Starting point is 00:13:32 It's because you didn't care about your mini and you finally care about this. No, it was indestructible. It was because I think I was planning on trading this in for a fold and I don't know if that's... Oh, okay. I bought this phone with the intention
Starting point is 00:13:45 of giving it up in a year for... Because I think I bought this like right after it came out. No, a few months after. Oh, sorry, no, no, you go. I was going to transition to the fold. Yeah. She's locked in. All right, let's see.
Starting point is 00:13:57 What was your segue? Oh, no. Come on. You're at it. Yeah, yeah. Well, I was just going to ask why you're not really, like, planning on going with the fold now that you've seen the... It's like the least tech reviewer reason ever. It's because I really want to buy, like, a turbo beefcake, gigacad MacBook Pro right now.
Starting point is 00:14:17 Like, I want a home computer that just, like, chugs. and I just, if I'm going to spend like six grand on a computer, I can't justify adding $2,000 to that for like a weird iPad thing. But dude, the alarm clock, you didn't see the alarm clock thing. Oh, yeah. So what do, clue us in on what you do know about duo. So I know it's passport style. I know that's about it. Okay, cool.
Starting point is 00:14:46 It has like the rounded corners on the outside corners. On one side, but the other side. didn't mention that. It's like a D almost, which D for Duo. I don't know if they meant to do that. This proves that none of you guys listen to me when we're all watching the event together, probably because I'm talking to me. Wait, did you say that? Yes, I said it exactly then. I was too locked. Okay, yeah, it's very squat. It's got curved on the side. It's two cameras. The cameras seem to be from the iPhone air, like the 48 megapixel fusion wide, whatever, and then a telephoto. It is a choice. Um, battery life all day. No surprise. Who knows.
Starting point is 00:15:20 what that means. And then did you see the price? I did. So I also saw your short where everyone was kind of overshooting it. Alex was spot on. Yeah. He said 1999. Yes. We're never going to live that down at home. How did they make it so cheap? It must have no RAM. It must just be ramless. Well, the cameras. Yeah. It's the Airplay. It's the iPhone Airplay, but now just two of them and like a haircut because it's way shorter. Which might be the smart move if they want to lower the price to get people to buy it.
Starting point is 00:15:57 I agree. But you're kind of losing out on people like Ellis who want the beefy phone, right? No, I don't think I... I don't know. I don't know what I want. Looks to camera. So, question, you're on a 13. Yes. Are you thinking of upgrading soon?
Starting point is 00:16:13 Absolutely not. No. Okay. I'm planning on riding with this phone until it gets to the state as Ellis's 12 mini. I do think more people should do that. I agree. I feel like treat how we treat cars, like run until they literally won't drive you anymore.
Starting point is 00:16:31 We're the worst people to say that because none of us follow those rules. Maybe Ellis a little bit. Not anymore. I will say a piece of advice. Make sure whatever your life is like that financially you're able to make this a snap decision because as somebody ran a phone into the dirt, one day either the phone will make that decision for you and you won't have a choice. Or one day something will happen that makes you so angry that the only way to cure your anger
Starting point is 00:16:57 will be to go and buy a new phone in that moment. I think for me, I was literally out and about and I was like, no, I'm done. I'm done. And I went straight to the Apple store and bought this phone. Yeah. So at least how my phone's running right now, I feel like I got at least another two years. Do you have liquid glass on that thing? No.
Starting point is 00:17:15 Okay. Oh, well, yes, actually, yes, I do. Oh, my gosh. The like UI stuff. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That doesn't like impact how it runs much, doesn't it? They made it seem like you needed a crazy GPU to do all that light processing. The developer beta was like, this thing's not going very well,
Starting point is 00:17:33 and then they optimized it a bit better to have that. I don't know. But we mentioned before, before we got into the duo, Ellis mentioned standby mode. So the new folding version is kind of sweet. You open it up a little bit, tent it, and now you have this standby. but also like the inside screen glows to reflect the colors on the... I'm just wondering if it's going to lock into place or is it at my nightstand slowly going to open
Starting point is 00:18:00 until it goes face first onto the ground. But I thought that was one of those like Apple makes folding phone shows that they care a little more than everyone else who's made folding phones and like throw some features out people haven't thought of yet. It's a nice touch. I just think like, and I've said this before, I think standby mode, I forget what it...
Starting point is 00:18:18 I think it's called standby mode, is like the coolest feature Apple has ever put in a phone. Like the fact that your phone is able to just like seamlessly integrate with a room. And so the fact that they took it even further, I was just like, this is, this is what I need from them. I do hope they make the hypothetical triangle shaped upside down taco wireless charger that would like complete it. It would charge from the inside. Somehow. So I'll figure it out.
Starting point is 00:18:47 They've got a multiple. Emily's our new host. You don't know what you're talking about. They've got trillions of dollars, literally. Okay, they'll figure out. And they didn't make airfly work. Or what is it? Air power. Air power. Yeah. That's true. But some things are just impossible. But this. But not this thing that I was thought of right now. Not this thing. Live translation, maybe. Do you have any final thoughts on?
Starting point is 00:19:13 Well, I wanted to ask on what you guys thought of the name. Because we're familiar with the name. Yes. Yes, thank you. Okay, I think that's why none of us are allowed to like it because Microsoft has spoiled the name, but I do think the name makes sense to the average audience. I will always look at it poorly because Duo was one of the worst products that have ever come out. I kind of wish they called it a fold. I wonder if Samsung like trade, like no one else can call it a fold. It just feels so generic. No, no, everyone calls it a fold except for Apple. What am I talking about? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:42 What do you think of? I mean, you can't name something. You can't name a folding number. advice, the duo, and not think of it. Yeah, yeah. The service duo, but. Apple likes to not think about anyone else and pretend none of them exist. Although they did mention other folding phones a bunch, which they usually just would be like, this is a folding phone.
Starting point is 00:20:04 Never done this before. Never seen this before. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That is true. You said that when we were watching it and I didn't clock it, but yeah, they never ever even acknowledge that other companies exist until today. And even today, they were just like, yeah, other, it's there. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:20:20 I thought it was interesting that they didn't put a number behind it. Not yet. I guess the duo, too, is going to be kind of redundant. The Nuo. And then do you think they're going to call it the two, or are they going to slide it in like the pixel folded with the rest of the lineup? Oh, like. I think they're going to do it like Nintendo does Mario Bros,
Starting point is 00:20:42 and it's just always going to be the new iPhone duo. Which they've done with iPads for a while, but it doesn't match with the rest of their lineup. up on phones and this is clearly a phone unless they consider it. That's true. And the iPads have is confusing, man. I'm always like, do I have a ninth or a 15th generation iPad? Like, what?
Starting point is 00:20:58 Huh. That's a good question. Betts on what you think Duo 2 is going to be called? Um, I mean, the two needs to be the Duo Duo Duo. The Duo Duo. The Duo Duo trio. Oh my gosh. All right.
Starting point is 00:21:12 I'm in. Yeah. I'm in. I'm in. Right of a career in marketing. I had it. Oh, really? This is kind of next level.
Starting point is 00:21:18 The Duo Quatro? The Duo Quatro. At what point do you reset and then make it the iPhone Trio Uno? And then Trio Duo. Well, the trio would be. Apple Trifold confirmed, question mark. Emily, thank you so much for coming on. Wait, wait, wait.
Starting point is 00:21:36 We have one more question. You told us something right before we started. Sure. That you were in Zaragoza at the same time that we were. Yeah, yeah, yeah. What were you? I mean, I'm going to take a guess on what you were doing there. What were you doing there?
Starting point is 00:21:47 It was amazing. It was amazing. I did not get to explore Zergoza that much. I was on a train from Madrid to Barcelona and just watched the eclipse from the train station. Whoa. Yeah. So I was like, I saw your stories all leading up to it and I'm like, maybe. And then I'm like, oh, there, there, no. We were pretty quick. I think we got to be in Zaraosa for like 24 hours. And 16 of that was filming and setting up for it. Yeah, yeah. So that's funny. But that's why I had to come today. Yeah. Yeah, well, thank you so much for joining us. Thank you very much.
Starting point is 00:22:21 Yeah, great. We back. We back. We back. We back. I'm running out of cool and interesting ways to cue these in. But we are here with... Adrian Santos.
Starting point is 00:22:32 My channel name is TechSantos. I'm a tech YouTuber from Mexico. Sick. Yes. I've been coming to Apple events for... This is my fifth iPhone event. Really? So it's been a while now.
Starting point is 00:22:44 I'm starting to be a little bit more veteran, a little bit less. veteran, a little bit less scared with all the chaos going on. I mean, it is chaotic. And this is probably a fairly chaotic one, because you've got quite a big thing to cover. Yeah. What are your thoughts first? Like, this is a very different vibe, one new CEO, one brand, two brand new device, two duo new device.
Starting point is 00:23:04 A lot of things were different about it. What struck you as the most interesting, the most different? Definitely the duo. I'm sure everyone's talking about that. But my big question with the Apple's first foldable was, what are the going to do different from Samsung, Huawei, Oppo, Xiaomi. They all have foldables, right? So I'm like, what's Apple going to bring to the table? And I think they nailed it with the software. Especially the
Starting point is 00:23:31 like moving the little tab to the right where you can like access it. Because having a square screen or squareish screen is kind of weird because reaching over to the, it's not very comfortable and just moving it to the side I thought was brilliant. And I can't wait for everyone else to copy that. That's funny. It also works perfectly because you can be a right doc user on Mac already. And it just, we know what that looks like already. And then they added the, I forget what it's called,
Starting point is 00:23:59 but now like notifications and some settings panels are in that right side above, like all into one now. I think like Wi-Fi, Bluetooth, all those are in the same. It was pretty obvious software was going to be the thing that they nailed. Yeah, the animation when you open it and like fades into the other screen, that's just like so Apple. We just asked our previous guest, does it look as good in person as it did in the event?
Starting point is 00:24:21 It does. It does look as good. I tried open it a couple of times, and I did it slowly to see how it would react. And I actually opened it like, I don't know, halfway. And if you look from the front side, it's fading out. And if you look from the inside, it's fading in. Like, as you actually open it up, it does that both animations at the same time.
Starting point is 00:24:42 They've done it again. It's nuts. They know how to do. Do you think it's something that we'll get old after a while? Do you know how we all like our animations? And then we're like, okay, 0.5x speed this. I just need to get stuff done. Or do you think it's going to stay?
Starting point is 00:24:55 You're going to. You speed up the animations on your phone because they bore you? You don't? It makes it faster. It makes everything faster. It does make it faster. That's the most jensy brain rot thing. No, it's not.
Starting point is 00:25:06 The most Android thing ever. It's so we can watch TikToks faster. Yeah. Yeah. It's like a sloppish. I'm sorry. I didn't interrupt you. Sorry.
Starting point is 00:25:15 Okay, sorry, sorry, sorry. Crease? No, Chris. If you're like really, really picky, you can feel it. I say it's like 95%, you can't feel it, but you can, like, 5% feel it just a little bit if you're looking for it, but it doesn't, like, visually, no crease at all, which is really, really cool. And also the other thing, you were asking about the event, the people, I was recording my
Starting point is 00:25:44 video for my YouTube channel and speed just starts walking along we haven't asked anyone about speed yeah and I turn around like yo speed and he turns to my camera it's like yeah what's up but that's like the coolest moment ever that's pretty cool only happens at Apple events yeah he had a wild amount of viewers on his stream during he was live streaming so he was like in a room on the side with a green screen so he was live streaming like you know cut out over the event going on and then he He was like trying to prove to his audience. I think when we turned it on, it was literally just like him going like, W's in the chat.
Starting point is 00:26:20 And we're like, oh my gosh. We're streaming these to a new level of a new. But he wasn't like running and gunning all over the place. It was not sandbox. During the event, he had the event on a green screen behind him and he was watching. And then he left the room and went out onto the hands on where you were. I think he like grabbed. He was the best part of it was he was like practicing what to say to John Turnitz.
Starting point is 00:26:40 He was like, yo, what's up? Love the 820. You just like could tell he like didn't really get it. Which is so late. I love that he like was getting into it. I know. But that speaks to like Apple's marketing expanding to including different people. And from Mexico specifically, you know Memo Ochoa, the soccer player?
Starting point is 00:27:00 I don't. He's a six time World Cup goalie for Mexico. Oh, I do remember. Okay, yeah. You remember the memes about the wall of this guy that was like, uh-huh. He's been to the World Cup six times. He's one of the most famous soccer players in Mexico. football, but I say soccer because whatever.
Starting point is 00:27:17 But he came to the Apple event. I saw him, I got a picture with him, was really cool. That's really cool. And they're bringing like one of the most famous football players from Mexico. I thought that was also really interesting. That's sweet. It is interesting because like, sorry Andrew, did you want to... No, no.
Starting point is 00:27:35 I was going to say it is interesting because the speed thing, there was a moment when they were talking about the A20 and they're talking about how they swapped some of the cores around, some of the cores around and they moved the CPU in the phone so that it has direct contact with the vapor chamber. And I just kept thinking, like, how much overlap is there between speeds audience and, like, silicon? You know, like... I think he was probably trying to entertain during that part, knowing his audience was like, what is a vapor chamber? No, but it is just interesting like how I want to say I feel for Apple, but it's such a tough thing to like, you need to get all this
Starting point is 00:28:12 technical information out there for people like us who like do care about the cores and the chip. Yeah. And then you're also trying to make do the general public care about a chip, you know? I think it's for different audiences. Speed, I mean, I think you're right. In Speed's audience is probably wanting to know about like the camera or like how the fold works or multitasking or like battery, general purpose daily stuff. But that's why they bring people from all, all walks of Life. Well, speaking of camera, did you get a chance to use the camera on the fold? Yes, I did.
Starting point is 00:28:49 There's a lot going on with a camera. So you can put up like a laptop and then you can shoot this way. You can put up like a laptop and shoot the other way. You can do the thing where you're using the main cameras with the selfie screen. Oh, like backwards? Yeah. And actually holding it, since the device is a bit more horizontal, holding it like this with the cameras on top.
Starting point is 00:29:12 and the screen on the bottom, I think that's gonna be like the new vlogging meta. It's really comfortable. It's like a Sony flip-up screen. Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's like a flip-up screen. And it works so well. It works really, really cool.
Starting point is 00:29:27 I'm definitely gonna use it for that. Sorry, Edra. Are you gonna, no, that's okay. You said you're definitely gonna use it. Oh, I guess you're gonna review it. We're trying to find someone who actually thinks of it being their main device. Do you see it?
Starting point is 00:29:40 Yeah. Yeah. You're the first person out of like six so far. A lot of people are like, yeah, cool. Nah. No, definitely my main device. Like, I'm going to miss the telephoto. That might be your main device if you break that on camera.
Starting point is 00:29:54 It should be, I'll miss the telephoto camera. I like things about it. It does have a cell photo, no? I thought it was 12 megapixel telephoto and then it had the 48 fusion ultra wide. It's like the main camera and the ultra wide. Is it? Okay. than I've been saying literally everything wrong.
Starting point is 00:30:13 I need to double check that. I really thought they said... The fusion camera is the one with the ultra-wide. There's a separate 12-mepixel telephoto, I thought. Oh, maybe I'm wrong. You should double-check that. Maybe I'm wrong. Everyone says we're wrong anyway, so it doesn't matter if we are.
Starting point is 00:30:27 Someone's wrong. We can fact-check it. Like, I used the device, right? So it has the 1x, it has the 2x, and it has the 0.5x. Yeah, so there's no 4x and no 8X like on the pro. So I think that's why there's no telephoto lens. Okay, interesting. It should be the ultra-wide, which is 0.5, and then the normal, which is 1x, and then 2x optical zoom, but it's just like the sensor crop.
Starting point is 00:30:56 Okay. But it was a bit confusing because I had the same. Seems confusing. On the keynote, they said like telephoto and then it's like not, it was a little bit weird. They did a lot of that, I feel like, a lot of kind of like going back and forth between things. and I would be like, oh, this is that. I wrote it down. Oh, now I'm talking about something else.
Starting point is 00:31:14 Or what, they said, silicon in the battery. Now we're not talking about the battery anymore. So that part was a little confusing. What do you think of the price? 2000, you heard like all sorts of rumors like 2,500. And like, I'm starting to think that Apple plants those rumors. Like, $2,500, $3,000. And then they come out with the $2,000.
Starting point is 00:31:34 So everyone's like, oh, it's not too bad. Because that's what I'm thinking. It's not too bad. If you're getting like an iPad Mini and an iPhone in one device, iPad Mini is what, $500, an iPhone is like $1,000, a little bit more. I mean, I think during Ramageddon and it just being Apple, Apple, notoriously expensive, I expected $2,500. I was very surprised by 19.
Starting point is 00:31:59 I think it's going to do really well. I think it will sell, and it will be my main device definitely. Because I just enjoy the form factor. It feels fresh. It feels different. The animations are just everything like flows perfectly. You're glowing. I was doing the multitasking thing and so you open an app on the multitasking and on the other
Starting point is 00:32:18 side you get like a whole other iPhone. If you quit one, the app on the left side you get a whole other iPhone and you just you can tap away and open another app. It's like it works just really well. They did really good on the software. You're making me want it. It's annoying. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:37 I mean you'll try it when. Try it when you get like the review unit and all that stuff. Oh, you can decide. I'll have to get it out of Marquez's hands. Yeah. Can I ask a quick question of, so when you're not there, you were at the event, we were not. There's generally a time where the CEO will come out and speak to the audience for a couple minutes. In the video, John Turnus said hello and welcome, correct?
Starting point is 00:32:58 Did he say the same thing on stage? Because we're trying to figure out if this is going to be a repetitive thing, like a good morning. Yeah, like a catch phrase. Yeah, yeah, catchphrase. there was no catchphrase. He just came out and it was a little bit weird. I didn't hear like the first word. He was just like, I think he said hi maybe, but it was like, or. It wasn't very memorable. It wasn't, it wasn't, it wasn't memorable. But he did say something really cool. He said, um, in, uh, I've been 25 years at Apple and I never thought I would like get to have this role and I'm very excited. And like, he did like a two one minute speech with us. It was fun. And then he was, he was fun. And then he was, went offstage and the keynote started. And he also came out on the hands-on area.
Starting point is 00:33:43 Yeah, yeah. So people were having like selfies with him and the same as Tim Cook used to do. Yeah, yeah. He got on speed stream. Yeah, but he got on speed stream? Yeah, yeah. He speed like waited for him. They took a selfie with the camera and everything with the duo.
Starting point is 00:33:57 Wow, that's cool. It was funny. So you got to test a bunch of stuff of the cameras, you said. Did you get to use the underscreen camera? Because this is the first Apple underscreen camera that I can think of. It's interesting. I like the little details, so I always focus on that. If it's turned off, you see the whole screen,
Starting point is 00:34:17 but if you look carefully, it does look a little bit. You can tell where it is. The pixels are, I think the pixels are bigger or smaller. I don't know what it is. But if you look for it, you can see it. And once you open the selfie camera, what I thought was interesting, you turn on the selfie camera,
Starting point is 00:34:34 and it's not only like a perfect circle. So you get a little bit like a pill shape. Yeah. And the pill shape is so you can see the green indicator. Oh, the recording light. The recording light, yeah. So you get that like pill box, which is like all in one with a camera turned on and the pill, the green light at the side of it. I am interested to see that because that felt like something they glossed over very quickly in the event.
Starting point is 00:34:58 It was like, oh yeah, and it's hit in for FaceTime. And here it is. And then something else. So I'm, because we haven't seen an under display camera. I didn't really test the quality. Yeah. It looks fine. I don't know if it's like worse quality than the other selfie camera,
Starting point is 00:35:11 but it is interesting that they put it under the screen. Yeah. Thank you so much for joining us again. If you want to tell the camera where people can find you. Yeah, just tech, Santos everywhere, TikTok, Instagram, Twitter, YouTube, of course. My main thing is YouTube. My content is in Spanish. If you speak Spanish or want to learn Spanish, you can get over there.
Starting point is 00:35:33 I think it's AI dubbed, but it sucks. No. stuff. We've tried. But thank you for having me on. I'm a big fan of Wayform, so this is a really cool experience for me too. And hopefully we'll do it again.
Starting point is 00:35:44 Yeah, of course. Thanks for joining us. Cool. Cool. When you're a mid-sized business, you need every competitive advantage you can get. Like an AI solution that works for you, not against you.

Starting point is 00:36:25 We just sat down with Aaron Rogers, four-time MVP, Super Bowl champion, future Hall of Famer for one of the most open and honest conversations we've ever had on the show. There was so much to get into, we had to split in the two parts. Part one is out right now, and trust me, you don't want to miss it. Aaron gives us his real story behind coming back for one final season. We also talk about how he was ready to retire once Mike T stepped down and how reuniting with McCarthy changed everything. We get into playing with Mike T for one more year. This year's squad, the old team narrative, who stood out this summer and what it's like to be in the quarterback.
Starting point is 00:37:00 Aaron also opens up about what he still has left to accomplish this season and what it looks like when he hangs it up with it. And that's only part one. Part two drops this Thursday. That's when we go beyond football, the media, the conspiracy theories. What people still get wrong about Aaron Roger. His legacy, Super Bowl ring, the goat debate, and the overrated and underrated where things really get off limits. Part one is out right now.
Starting point is 00:37:25 Part two drops this Thursday, September 10th. Watch Notches Football with Cam Hayward on YouTube, or listen to Spotify, Apple Podcasts, or wherever you get your podcast. After years of rumors, Apple finally launched a folding iPhone. The iPhone duo starts at $2,000, making it Apple's most expensive. expensive phone ever. It's Apple's bold attempt at proving that folding phones are finally worth your attention. This week on the Vergecast, we went live from Apple Park with our first look at all the new gadgets. Plus, Lauren Feiner explores the tech behind the two-hour marathon and the story of how big tech set the agenda for our students are taught to code.
Starting point is 00:38:11 Check out the Vergecast wherever you get your podcasts. One, two, three, and two the four. We're back because you want to. wanted some more with Drup, Drew. What's so funny? What's so funny? I'm sorry. What was your name? I'm from India.
Starting point is 00:38:28 Great to meet you. Yeah, thanks for joining us. Thank you so much. And you are wearing the journalist badge. Who do you write for? Who do you work for? What do you do? Tell us about yourself.
Starting point is 00:38:38 Absolutely. So I actually cover consumer technology and AI as well for the Economic Times. It's an Indian publication. And it's my second Apple iPhone event. Cool. I'm glad to be here again. Sick.
Starting point is 00:38:49 I'm doing this with you guys. Okay, so we got into it, and I stopped our really interesting conversation because I wanted to have it on camera about batteries. Yeah. Because we're both excited. There's silicon in the battery. We've been waiting for this. Marquez, I'm sure, is just over the moon about this.
Starting point is 00:39:06 But you brought up a really interesting point that they never called it like a silicon carbon or a silicon carbon battery. Like you hear a lot of Chinese phones, unless I missed it in the event, but I didn't hear it. We were confused. We heard them say silicon. They were like. They were like, did it multiple times? Yes. And we were like, does that confirm it?
Starting point is 00:39:20 They moved on already. Yeah, it was quick. And they said it for both the pros and the duo as well. They said it for the both of them. When we were talking to Samsung and we were trying to ask them, like, is this silicon carbon battery? They kept saying, no, but it has a little silicon. I was actually there in London when it launched.
Starting point is 00:39:38 Okay. So during the briefings as well, we really had to get it out of them. But they were quite open about it once they mentioned how the entire Hintz situation is working on the Ultra. So that's how they opened it about. And battery size got reduced. They were making the point that this new smaller battery has the same battery life as the 17 Pro and then, or 17, whatever.
Starting point is 00:40:01 Yeah, yeah, yeah. More. 17 Pro, the 18 Pro regular is more than the 17 Pro Max. Yes, that's what you're getting, yeah. So you're excited that the iPhone finally has some silicon in its battery. Yeah. So I'll give you a context. I actually was using the 15 Pro and the 16 Pro, the regular variance.
Starting point is 00:40:19 And last year I finally got to test the 17 Pro Max. And the battery capacity that jumped from in that device itself, I was really happy. And frankly speaking, I like the charging speeds as well. I'm not really, I'm not going to vilify it unnecessarily. It's quite good. But today what we have seen, especially with the 15-minute charging time that we saw, that it can go from 0 to 50. In 15 minutes, that's what they're claiming.
Starting point is 00:40:41 I think the number will be very close to that because optimization has always been Apple's forte. So I am really looking forward to test that feature, particularly. Why do you think Apple sort of danced around with their words calling it like a silicon carbon battle? Because it's Apple. They do that with everything. Actually, I'll be honest with you. I don't want to sound like a fanboy. But I feel that two technical details is something that generally what Chinese do. The consumers that Apple is taking care of do not want to get into that much detail. It's fair. I feel that way a lot of times. I've been covering it for a while, and you guys would know more.
Starting point is 00:41:18 I mean, of course. No, no. But I feel that, you know, the language is generally for the enthusiast crowd. For example, when Marcus is always talking about the OnePlus 15 battery and everything, that's a crowd. At the end of the day, OnePlus is an enthusiast device. At the end of the day, I mean, that's how it, the inception is like that. But the iPhone has always been for the masses.
Starting point is 00:41:39 And I think you don't really need to get into that grammar to explain the feature. That's what I feel. I think that's what I meant by their Apple. Like when has Apple said a milling up hour? When is, have they said, a RAM? They just never, ever do that. Storage maybe and like, what? The word of all day battery life.
Starting point is 00:41:54 Yeah, yeah. The word is optimization. That's the word. And it works really well. So they did. And they did say, you said you were excited for battery. Did they not say this was the biggest battery improvement of any iPhone generation ever? Which I'm also wondering what they're meaning because are they talking about base 17?
Starting point is 00:42:09 Because we didn't get base 18. So do they get to make the comparison? That's one thing Apple likes to do their comparisons and never really. say exactly what they're comparing it to. But I think today they were, I felt that they were a bit lenient today because the performance numbers that they had shown was against the 16 Pro and the 17 Pro Max.
Starting point is 00:42:26 So, I've got to give it to them for that, at least they were very, and the numbers were quite the leap was quite impressive. Yeah, it was. Duo, we have to talk about. Sorry, battery question. Okay. I'm curious because iPhones, almost
Starting point is 00:42:41 to the point of, like, conspiracy are notorious for having battery drops or the quality of the battery drops over the course of the iPhone's lifetime. Yeah. Do you think we will see more of that now that there's some silicon in the battery? I honestly, I used to, it's not a myth. This has been observed over time. But at least for the last three devices that I've tested,
Starting point is 00:43:03 the 15 Pro, 16 Pro and the 17 Pro Max, I did not feel that way. To give you, I'll give you an example, the 15 Pro that I still have that. And the battery health is about 78% right now. Okay. And I've used it extensively because generally my iPhones are the products that I shoot with and I travel across with it, MWC, I was just at EFA. I was shooting with an iPhone. So no, not really.
Starting point is 00:43:27 I mean, I think, I don't know, it's maybe the Indian variants are different, but it's not like that. At least that's what I've observed. I don't know. Sick. All right. Now we can talk about it. Yeah. Let's get to it.
Starting point is 00:43:36 First thing I want to ask you. Yeah. Name. But I have to firstly say that it's very expensive in India. Oh, I'm sure. Yeah. I know. So that's first thing.
Starting point is 00:43:45 It's about 3,000 for the people in America. We can't say lax in America, I've been told. So 300,000. We do have an appetite for expensive phones, and then we do not care about the naming or the nomenclature. So honestly, I don't mind the name, to be frank with you. I think the only reason some people don't like it is because of the Microsoft duo.
Starting point is 00:44:07 Yeah. Now I've said Microsoft's getting more pressed from the Apple release than they ever had for their actual duo right now. A lot of my thoughts and opinions come from an Indian context, and the duo was never a big hit in Microsoft. It was not a big hit anywhere, yes. But in India, it was not very, people are not aware of all, the device at all,
Starting point is 00:44:28 majority of them. The duo name is actually associated to the ASOS laptops that we get in India. Yes, okay. So, and that is a big hit by the day in India. So honestly, I don't think that at least the name is going to have a problem in my market, in my country. I don't think so.
Starting point is 00:44:42 That's cool. That's interesting. Any other thoughts about Duo? we have. I mean, I know you said price is extremely expensive for you. So, I mean, for us, we were actually surprised it was cheaper. I'm not trying to call it cheap, but it was less than we all thought Apple was going to. Certainly. Certainly. See, it's expensive, but we have to also take into consideration that the entire global crisis that's happening right now. This is something that the consumers have understood. Because a little bit of more context from an
Starting point is 00:45:11 Indian perspective, like you have Black Friday sales in America, back in India, Diwali sales are very huge. And that's when we see a big drop in prices. So what happens is that this time around, we are not seeing that trend. So naturally around, so there are two, three spikes that we've seen sales in India. One is in August and one is in November come Dubai. And so far in August, the sales were not really, like we did not see any spike in sales because of the price drop particularly. So the audience is actually very well aware, the consumers are aware that this is crisis that's happening. This is for sure.
Starting point is 00:45:41 Yeah, yeah, yeah. But the device is, the device looks good. I'll be, I'll be honest with you. I tested it out, I really like the optimization. Wait, yeah, you're, okay, you're the first person we're talking to you that, I've seen it. Yeah. Oh, we obviously, because like, we only saw it on the event.
Starting point is 00:45:53 Apple is clearly going to make sure it looks perfect all the time. Hmm. Did you get to see a crease? No. Really? You can watch my video. Okay. It's live. It's live already? Yeah. That's impressive. How? I edited at the Steve Zops hit. I sat on the floor and I edited the video on my MacBook. That's awesome. Damn.
Starting point is 00:46:11 Yeah. I don't shoot on red camera so I can manage this. That's awesome. Okay, so wait. Wait, wait. No crease. No, no crease. No.
Starting point is 00:46:20 And the ceramic, by the way, it's pretty good. The quality is really good. It was really funny that there's ceramic shield one on the back and ceramic shield two on the front. I mean, at the end of the day, if, you know, they have to take care of the front display more, because, I mean, let's be honest, majority of the usage is going to be closed up. I feel. I think you're right with that, but also just like the interior screen has to fold. Yeah, yeah. The exterior screen doesn't have to fold, so it's going to inevitably be.
Starting point is 00:46:46 I spent about 20 minutes with the device and I, inside Apple Park, and I realize that it's a very well put together device because they have taken their sweet time to build it, right? Yeah, yeah. They have a lot of context. There's seven generations behind Samsung and yeah. Yeah, so it does look good. And I have to say the software optimization, especially the information bar that you pop down, the new change that they have done, it looks really good.
Starting point is 00:47:07 Cool. Did the animations, wow, I have so many questions now that I realized that you actually touched this thing. You work with the god of YouTube, you can ask him. We're not going to see, they have them in. We, when we were watching things, we felt like some of the animations looked a little choppy and we weren't sure if it was our bad hotel TV. Did the animation seem iPhone smooth or? Honestly, I was a bit, I was a bit skeptical about the one that when it opens up, so that the transition animation. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:35 skeptical about that, but at least the ones that I have seen inside, they were really smooth. Cool. Yeah, they were really smooth. And it gave that same sense of opening even when you're not like straight up. Oh, yeah. The continuity was like there, yeah. Wow. Yeah. I felt that way at least, yeah. I'm thoroughly impressed with the device, and I'm
Starting point is 00:47:51 sure that in India, we will be very receptive about it, for sure. Cool. Come October. Before we let you go get some AC, where can people find your video? You can check out economic times. It's on, you know, on YouTube, it's on Instagram. and you can check it out on my LinkedIn as well. Drew Mohan. Peace.
Starting point is 00:48:09 Cool. Drew. Thank you so much. Thank you very much. I want to talk to you. Thank you. Thanks for joining us. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:14 Thank you. Thank you. Welcome back to the Heat Form Sweatcast, sponsored by Perspiration. I am here right now with Brett, who you may remember from last year. Happy to be back. Sweet.
Starting point is 00:48:28 Well, thanks for agreeing to speak to us again. I'm glad we weren't horrifying monsters. I don't know why this is not working. You got a talk. Okay. Well, I want to start. off with, I remember when you joined us last year, the very first thing learning about the type of content you meant was make was, I think you said you'd made 24 videos already by the time we
Starting point is 00:48:46 talked to you. I think I've upped that. I wanted to ask, where are you right now? We are approximately what, three, three and a half hours after the event? I'm approaching 30. I think I'm at my high 20s. 30 videos. Yeah, I mean, I don't want to make myself up to be this crazy production machine. To be fair, a lot of those are what's been really successful in the past. is just clipping the keynote. And I've got this crazy setup of like three phones. My hack this year, usually a big problem when uploading a ton of clips is just like bandwidth to get on the internet. If the Wi-Fi is awful, if your cell service is awful.
Starting point is 00:49:20 So this year I bought six e-sims from six different providers and I have them rotating to make sure that I had the service to go through. And then I'm constantly clipping as it goes. I need a behind the scenes like day in the life of you at one of these events because it's fascinating. listening to how you put this on. I love it. It's cool. It's like an ever-longing problem that I will never solve. That's so sick.
Starting point is 00:49:41 So, it'll just continue chipping away at. So what has been the standout announcements, features, et cetera, et cetera, et cetera for you? I mean, there's the big obvious one, which I almost don't even want to talk about because it's so obvious. It's the iPhone duo. It's really cool. A lot we could talk about there. But there were two that I don't think got enough hype.
Starting point is 00:49:58 One for me is the AirPods 5. Okay, I was going to make a joke be like, Airpods 5, right? Everyone's talking about it. Yeah. Like it's even, and I feel like it's even more so than they deserve. Obviously it's really cheap, but like I love the in-year style bud. I use the AirPods 4 ANC for ages until I reached for my AirPods Pro 3 and I realized how good the noise cancellation was.
Starting point is 00:50:18 And then all of a sudden I missed the noise cancellation and I missed my little swipe stem. Now seeing that lower price point with the ANC and the swipe stem, I think that like solves the AirPods for me. It almost feels like they're trying to move away from. like a pro-non-pro distinction and just make it like the same product offering but one has tips or at least that's where it felt like they were pushing it. That's what I was hoping for. Yeah like I think that could seriously come down to some people just like how it fits in their ears better. Yeah, I don't like the regular ones. I need the tip on it but not everyone. To me like I wear them, it's insane. I wear them
Starting point is 00:50:53 obviously nine to five as I'm working. I wear them when I work out. Actually wear AirPods while I sleep. I like the active noise cancellation. I usually listen to YouTube videos and the when I wear the pros, They kind of stick in my ear. You lay in the pillow, they like dig in there. I loved that the in-year style, they just kind of sit in there nicely, they're not too invasive, and they just fit my ear better. So I, since the Pro 3s were announced, I've always said the, I wish we had these pro features on the AirPods and thank you, John Turnus.
Starting point is 00:51:23 Now we're here. You said two things. Yeah, the other thing I think was a really big deal. I don't, I mean, you said everybody's talking about it. I've just been editing videos. I don't know what everybody's talking about. know what everybody's talking about necessarily. We don't really either, to be honest.
Starting point is 00:51:37 The really big, I forgot what it's called to, but it was Apple's heart, basically a hardware version of synth ID for images. Yeah. Oh, yes. Reference photo. Reference photo. That's what it was. I think that's a really good.
Starting point is 00:51:49 A lot of the bigger companies, like Google did a lot of it, where they're kind of just facing in their presentations that, hey, AI is kind of scary. You're right. And I think this is a really good step towards that. I think the execution of it on the hardware level is really good. I think stuff like that's always so tricky to communicate. And consumers, it's so freaking cool, and the implications of it are pretty incredible. It's going to be hard even as a creator that explains these things in layman's terms to really communicate how good and impressive that is that it's there.
Starting point is 00:52:17 But I'm happy it is. That's the first time it's come up for us all day, actually. Well, we've been asking pretty pointed questions on Duo and John Turner. So it was something we were all like, wow, this is cool. It does always have that issue of, like, all these companies trying to have something in the metadata for. Gen AI, but the issue with it is, is I think the most people who are going to get tricked by something like that are never going to go to the extra steps. But I like, I guess that's the give and take. It is cool that you can straight up just see like, know this was the OG picture.
Starting point is 00:52:47 And that's, that's impressive. Yeah. And it's, and done at the hardware level. I mean, there's all this stuff on synth ID. There's all these ways to get around it. Some of them are a lot more simpler than they'd probably like to admit. But I think, again, it's for the lay people who don't even want to know what Synthi is in that weird edge case where their image gets out there and they need to know the originating. I think it's cool and I think it does very little net harm for how much benefit. For sure, yeah, yeah. And if they can integrate it with the ecosystem, you know, if you're browsing in Safari, you can, being able to right click on an image and run a verification check in your browser would just be incredible in Safari. Well, that's like you think about, like, I mean, I don't know about you guys, like, not my parents necessarily, but I have my friends whose parents, like, you get them texts, they,
Starting point is 00:53:31 I'm like parents are aware of AI and they're texting kids like, is this AI? It's some picture that's clearly AI. And the kid has to be like, yes, mom, that's very clearly AI. Thank you for asking. Like to have that question that you would text to your kids, just be a right click in Safari, would go a long way. Right. And obviously, it's like that's, we're only within the Apple ecosystem here.
Starting point is 00:53:50 We've got a long way to go. But I think it's just building tools that go towards that and implementing it at the hardware level is pretty cool, I think. I wish my parents were, I mean, I'm glad they're not. But like a few weeks ago, not like a year ago at this point, I got like a really convincing scam Bank of America text that I was like that close to falling for. And I had the thought, I was like, I should text my parents. You know, they almost got me. My parents don't stand a chance.
Starting point is 00:54:12 And my mom literally responded with, you almost fell for that. And then the laughing crying emoji. The tables have. And I was like, am I the boomer? I guess what I hadn't thought of in terms of being able to see the original image is in previous ones, a lot of people do use AI for maybe just some. cleanup or something like that. And so a journalist might be looking at a photo and being like, oh, this does have AI, how much can I trust it?
Starting point is 00:54:37 But to be able to physically see exactly what did get changed, hopefully then less reporting on stuff that we don't really know about. Yeah, exactly. Even if it's like, and it's so widespread now, where a lot of times those things aren't even malicious. It's just honest mistakes. Exactly. And you're just pulling an image that, oh, somebody took a picture of an iPhone,
Starting point is 00:54:53 but the background just happens to have been edited, be slightly different. And then it gets posted, then you get accused of using AI. And this, it's, again, it's little things like that. I think it again it's some people might think it's not a very big deal but it does so little net harm putting it in there and can solve a lot of problems and I love seeing those type of things yeah no it is a huge deal actually I'm really glad you brought it up yeah you do a lot of home in home automation that's what the word I'm looking for was there anything here that sparked your interest specifically in that category no standby or something is the only thing I can think of some way so every I've been predicting it since WWDC or WWDC of three years ago. There is this leak in the Apple TV OS beta, like three OSs ago, for something called Home OS.
Starting point is 00:55:41 And I've wanted it be coming for ages. And the idea is it's going to be this OS that encapsulates the Apple TV and the HomePod. Maybe they bring a HomePod at the screen. They all get running this OS. And I was almost certain. If I was a betting man, I would put money on it. This would be the year we'd see it.
Starting point is 00:55:56 Siri AI comes to the HomePod. It's this huge thing. all your home devices are connected, your home pod's useful now because it actually is a voice system that's going to hang out and actually work for you. And I thought if we're going to see an Apple TV, they're going to make the space for not launching the base model iPhone for that Apple TV, and it's all going to work, and then the presentation. Yeah. Maybe later this fall, I thought there are still rumors of that screened home pod going around. And it seems like we might have, I don't know if we're getting that OLED touchscreen MacBook Ultra or whatever. Now there's
Starting point is 00:56:27 potentially room for more of a spring event with if iPhone base is now moved over there. Who knows if iPhone Air could go over there? So maybe we could see something later. I really hope for, you mentioned iPhone Air, not to hard pivot us here. But I've always been since the day it launched with iPhone Air of the theory that it's just a proxy for a foldable phone. And I think we're seeing that to be true, just making sure the durability is there. I would love to see the new iPhone Air be a passport style. Oh, just like straight, not folding just squat.
Starting point is 00:56:59 Basically the iPhone duo, but just the half. Like a Newton with a phone. It's like everybody wants the mini. Everybody wants a smaller phone. Have this smaller and slightly wider phone. And I think people would be, like, I think, I hope that's what we see. And if they make this big event around it, I'd be. I think that is what all the people listening to this podcast and all of us would like to see
Starting point is 00:57:18 and probably something that would never happen because no one would ever buy it. And I don't want to be pessimistic. If you make an apple, I'll put some revenue on the bottom line. How do we get to the long phone? Like, that's a remote, you know? I guess it makes sense because, you know, a long, skinny device, your thumb can... Across, I guess.
Starting point is 00:57:35 ...can reach better. But when I think of long skinny things, I think of don't look and control. And when I think of more square things, I think of things I'm actually interacting with, you know, or that are providing feedback. Is this crazy? No, I think it kind of makes sense. I feel like it's almost one of those things where it's like the... just what we've been used to
Starting point is 00:57:56 has kind of driven the development of it and like before the phones needed to be big and they wanted to be slim so you to hold it one hand so it kind of grew up. It's kind of like the cordy keyboard layout we have now it's actually an awful keyboard layout. It's really really bad. There's much better layouts out there to type more efficiently
Starting point is 00:58:14 but because everything built around it from being typist to hardware to software is just kind of what we use and maybe that could be the reason of the phone's form factor we developed apps for it, people's hands are used to holding it. If you want to sell a phone to a device and get a user to switch, you need to at least
Starting point is 00:58:30 sell them something kind of familiar to be comfortable. Because I would much rather have a little passport, so I don't have to do that little thing where I can't reach the top so I drop it kind of a little to reach my thumb up there, and then I have to like hike it back up to reach my thumb back down. And we've done this before. Like in the PDA, Palm Pilot, Apple Newton era,
Starting point is 00:58:47 everything was sort of more squared off. I don't know if it was the same sort of, what was it, one by 1.4 was the ratio? They made a big deal about the ratio is the same on the inside. Adam's nodding like it is one to 1.1.4. Nice.
Starting point is 00:59:04 Insane knowledge to have. Nailed it. That's crazy. Insane ball knowledge, except I literally forgot about Apple reference photo for four hours. So, you know. Happy to be here. Thank you. Thank you so much. Do you have any thoughts on Ternus? Yeah, I think you did great. I mean, I've been
Starting point is 00:59:20 optimistic about him ever since the announcement. I think he's got the background to go in the new era that I think everybody thinks they're going into, the more innovative, more explorative era. Tim brought it up, made it a scalable company, made everybody like Apple, and now we're going back into the hopefully passport-sized super slim phone era. Yeah, I was hoping we might see a live keynote, but I know that was probably a little bit optimistic. There was that weird report that like Apple's going back to live keynote, but everyone was like, this is just what they've been doing. I don't, on Twitter it was going around for a while, and they're like, sweet, it's coming back,
Starting point is 00:59:56 but I don't think they're ever going to leave it. It's too easy to nail everything. You need the person, and I think the big change was, sure, maybe John is capable of it, but they've shifted so aggressively. Now that their product line is so diverse, when they have all the product leads coming out, like you can't expect, what Steve Jobs has been thinking about the MacBook for 15 years, he could talk about that, like he owns it, but John Turner's can't talk about all. all the way to tech and the Apple Watch, the iPad, all these products and stand confident in it without feeling like he's just rehearsing it.
Starting point is 01:00:23 It's just impossible. So I don't think we ever can. I don't think it will. Yeah. I was hoping, but I'm just happy to see him in person on stage for a little bit. Philly guy. Is he? He went to Penn. I don't know what there's actually we know almost nothing about it. He said go birds once and now he's we don't know how old he is. We don't know his birthday. Like there's very little public information about him. But I do know. Sounds like, uh, go Sixers. I'm pretty sure we know all of those things probably. It sounds like we could start a conspiracy. For a while, he's 1,400 years old.
Starting point is 01:00:56 No, no, no, no. When he got announced as the next CEO, I was reading all this info about him and there was all this stuff like we don't know as exactly. You should stop using AI overview. It wasn't the AI overview, okay? God damn. Is there like a robot test tube conspiracy theory that exists there? Like Steve Jobs, like skin cells, re-gross?
Starting point is 01:01:11 Whoa. There is now. Yeah. Wait a second. Yeah. We gotta get the the YouTube video. conspiracy thing like where you overlay the faces and like all red for it. Yeah. This is this is fascinating. Another thing I did really like, but again, it's one of
Starting point is 01:01:29 those things that's so hard to talk about in the landscape is the, I keep forgetting what they call things, but the Apple Watch always listening thing, summary. I think it was called always listening or something. It was like that, yeah. I really like that. Did you? You've taken the time. Like, the problem is the product is itself in its best state of non-malice. And if you assume everything's being done properly, it's cool. It's helpful. It's accessibility.
Starting point is 01:01:56 As long as you can turn it off, it's cool. The problem is nobody's going to trust that. Yes. No. Apple is the company to do it, if anybody. But most people haven't done the due diligence to understand how Apple runs their AI, how much compute power they have on board, all that stuff. So that it's so sensitive, but it's so cool.
Starting point is 01:02:11 But I would hesitate to even talk about it as a creator. Because I know even if I was doing the best job communicating it, people are still going to be upset about it. It's going to be tough. I think my biggest issue with it is 15 seconds feels like so short that I would be referencing it while the person I was talking to is still standing right there. So like if a waiter is saying the specials, that's what you're talking about, right? I think we're on two separate features. You're talking about the rewind thing. You're talking about the series summary thing.
Starting point is 01:02:37 Sorry. They're very similar. Yes, okay, never mind. But one you have to prompt. I mean, they're both stemmed from the scary summary. which is your watch is always listening. But they're two feet and I don't think they did a good job explaining that yet because one is this rewind more of an accessibility feature.
Starting point is 01:02:52 The other is I think they should have broken it out basically said hey it's the plod note pin. I agree. It's for free on your phone and it's running on a local model. That sounds great but because they looped it in with like always listening, I think I'm, it's a cool feature that I think has a lot of potential but it's going to require a lot of like Junicequa explaining it to audiences to really get there. Yeah. I think the thing that was weird when they said is, like, you can turn it on or off whenever you want,
Starting point is 01:03:17 which made it sound like an on-off switch. But then they also said, like, or it just won't do it during night or this. It's like, so that means it sounds like it can be always going on and sometimes, but it does sound like it has a physical on-off switch, which is what it should have. From your perspective, because I'm churning through these butter thoughts, or I'm churning your milk thoughts into thought cream, thought butter. title of this episode. But it's interesting that you said that we're going to need to educate people on what's going on
Starting point is 01:03:47 because I've always been shocked at how fast the meta glasses have been adopted given that it's pretty public knowledge that what's recorded on there does get stored on a server owned by meta. Do you think Apple consumers, the Apple market audience, whatever you want to call it, is more sensitive than the general average consumer? I think the meta-glasses thing is more a product of somebody who's going to buy metaglasses is going to be a little bit more savvy and nerdy and willing to sacrifice to have such a device because they think it's so cool, whereas Apple just by nature is going to be exposed to everybody.
Starting point is 01:04:27 So I think it's more of like not necessarily Apple consumers versus meta-consumers, but just nerds versus not nerds, which is the difference. I like that. But I do think like, again, no matter what, everybody's going to be conscious of it. And again, it's like, Apple does such a good job with data privacy in the world of AI. And it's like, it's insane how nighting data is compared to anybody. But it's communicating that in a way that doesn't sound, as the comments would call it, like bootlicking or too technical to where it even makes sense to where it's not even worth explaining is so tricky.
Starting point is 01:04:59 Yeah, no, totally. Cool. Thank you for having us. Where can our audience find you if they forgot from last year? I am brett.com. dot tech, uh, everywhere. YouTube, mostly short forum, TikTok, Instagram, and then a little bit of YouTube every now and then. So if you want to go watch 87 videos from this event, by the end of the night, they'll probably be ready. The amount of stuff you'll get out before this podcast
Starting point is 01:05:21 goes live is wild. I'm going to go edit for four hours after this. Thank you for having me. This is really fun. Thank you so much. Awesome. Yeah. And we're back once again, still in Cooper Tino, still sweaty as possible. And right now we are here with Vivon. Vivon. Yeah. Thank you for joining us. Got a got a got, sorry, I'm short-circuiting in the heat.
Starting point is 01:05:43 What did you think of the event? Honestly, I thought it was like, one as like expected. I don't think like they came out with anything too, you know, out of the, you know, norm. I think we all expected them to announce a duo. I think that's something that's someone who follows like Twitter and rumors, all of us agree with. I think most people would be like, wait a minute, what just happened?
Starting point is 01:06:04 Yeah. But, yeah, other than that, I think, like, nothing too crazy, I think. Okay. New CEO, fold, maybe the biggest Apple event of the last decade, nothing too crazy. There was something about the event that was so, like, AI feature-heavy and software feature-heavy. I guess a lot of Apple events do software features, but there was something I felt like, all right, like, get on with it to me. I don't know. Maybe that's rude.
Starting point is 01:06:30 I'm sorry. I didn't mean to be rude. But it's just like the whole time I just kept being like, oh, yep, okay, the watch listens. Up, yep, the watch, the lights are green now. Okay, I don't know. Is that a bad take? Am I making a bad take right now? Do you think part of that is because we were all expecting the fold and we're all just kind of like, can we just see the fold?
Starting point is 01:06:48 I think like the first like 30 or so minutes was just all Apple intelligence, right? It was. I was like, just like, you know, get on with it. And they used the term AI a lot, which for a while they were trying. It felt like they were trying not to. It was very specifically Apple intelligence, Apple intelligence. I think at Dubdub, they started being like a little more. Everyone else's AI is doing this, but we're doing that.
Starting point is 01:07:10 But I think Turner said the term AI in the first one minute of him being passed over as the new CEO. The other thing is they normally do these like skits and trailers and like little cinematic things before each product or before each person. And this one they just sort of passed it from executive to executive. You know what else was different about this one? Do you notice how many people were working in the background. That's that working. I feel like they they took this cinematic angle of like the Apple executives are sort of like in the space but they're not actually there. Like one time they're
Starting point is 01:07:43 like what's his name was walking through a cafe while everyone's just like eating and talking and he's like doing that that was kind of weird to me. Was it not weird to you? I could see it. It doesn't surprise. Yeah. I thought it was weird that people were like at their desks like doing stuff while like that your boss is just like and another thing. I found it weird. I'm sorry. Clearly, I'm in the minority here. Ellis, that happens to us all the time. We're just at our desk. Wait,
Starting point is 01:08:08 just a second. That is kind of like my job. So you said nothing was really surprising. Was there anything that surprised you? I think, like, the main thing that I noticed was, like, the design of the dough. I think, like, they went with a very, you know, wide
Starting point is 01:08:24 half-per-sized shape. And I think, like, if you look at, you know, other foldables, like the Z-fold, they have kind of like a candy bar shape. Yeah. So I think that can be like really interesting in terms of, you know, how you actually use the device. Yes. I think like my main thing is that like it looks like it's going to be like pretty hard to use, at least with one hand.
Starting point is 01:08:43 You think so? Yeah. What I thought was impressive is we've seen some more squat passport styles with like Find End, one of the pixel folds, now the new Samsung, the whatever, the smaller one. But the one thing I want to see is, did you notice that animation that kept happening every time they folded from the outside screen? It like almost, yeah, it gradiented over. I can't, it was visually impressive on that, but we also only ever saw it at this perfect straight on angle. And I'm wondering if it does that in person and how that looks in person or it's just going to turn into a slow animation that's going to get annoying after a while.
Starting point is 01:09:22 I don't know. It's one of those things that they clearly thought of. to be visually impressive at the keynote. And I think a lot of stuff is, like Apple, shot perfectly. Let's see how it looks in person, which we have not seen yet. But now the camera, the front-facing camera is under the... I think the internal. So it has a whole punch cut out on the front screen.
Starting point is 01:09:42 And then when you open it, yeah, we haven't mentioned this at all. It's an under-screen selfie camera that appears when you're in FaceTime. Oh, yeah, because I think in the images I saw the camera there. I think when they're using normally, I didn't see it on the screen. Interesting. Yeah. I want to see what the under-display camera looks like, because for so long we thought this was going to be the new thing. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:10:07 But all of them always looked like the camera was underwater, right? Like foggy and did Apple pull it off? Or do we just not care about FaceTime quality as much? I have to assume it's going to be pretty good. But then that means they would have developed something that we're not used to. Yeah. Well, every time they showed someone taking a selfie. in the keynote, they were using the rear camera.
Starting point is 01:10:29 Because now you can flip the whole thing out and get the monitor. So I think they might have realized that like the selfie camera of the inside is just only going to be a FaceTime thing where you're going to be limited by bandwidth for resolution anyway, maybe. That's my guess. That's crazy that we still haven't talked about the whole punch yet because this is the first Apple place. The whole bunch or the under display. Excuse me, the under display. Thank you.
Starting point is 01:10:52 It's the first Apple device with that. And so it's kind of like a new, effectively a new skew for them. I don't know. I'm really curious. We were talking in the hotel room that just like you don't see that many phones with that. Yeah. It's also like weirdly, it's not at the top. It's down a little bit, which I'm assuming is because when you are talking to the screen,
Starting point is 01:11:15 your eye contact will look a little more natural. But that's all again. They felt like they glossed over that pretty quickly. Yeah. POST over... Huh. Huh. Huh.
Starting point is 01:11:25 Any other final thoughts on either Duo, new CEO? Is it weird that we didn't even see an iPhone 18 base model? I mean, the cheapest thing we saw today in a phone was $11.99, right, for Bass Pro? Honestly, I think for me it is maybe the AirPods update. I think I was expecting to see some kind of major redesign, and at least maybe in having some type of screen on the case, or something like kind of revolutionary in you but like I think like it is mostly
Starting point is 01:11:57 you know sound quality updates or just like normal antsy transparency but like Syria yeah I think other than that nothing that I really you know really wanted or kind of expected but yeah we didn't ask we forgot to ask Emily but so nothing that you really wanted I'm guessing that means you don't plan on picking up the duo I think duo is not for me I think I right now use a 14 plus okay and I was actually one of the like biggest fans of the plus series just because, like, I don't use extra cameras in the pro, but I want a bigger screen.
Starting point is 01:12:27 That sounds like Duo. It doesn't have the extra cameras, then it doesn't have your screen. We'll see, we'll see. Okay, that sounds like I couldn't. Pretty hard. Yeah. Okay, cool.
Starting point is 01:12:36 Thank you so much for joining us. Thank you for having me. Thanks, of course. Is the U.S. military facing a leadership crisis? It would be an obligation on the part of Secretary Hegsteth and President Trump to say, look, here's why these officers didn't meet standards. And it can't be because they were politically aligned with somebody they didn't like.
Starting point is 01:13:05 I'm John Feiner. And I'm Jake Sullivan. And we're the hosts of The Long Game, a weekly national security podcast. This week, Admiral Bill McCraven joins us to reflect on the 25th anniversary of 9-11 and what the firings and resignations of senior military leaders mean for the armed forces. Search for and follow The Long Game, wherever you get your podcasts. And we're back with another guest. Things might look a little different because our A-cam overheated. We moved it into the shade. It is now the B-Cam. And the B-cam is now the A-cam. I'm still Ellis. That's still Andrew. And this is- Michael. Michael. Again, another repeat guest. This is awesome. B-camera just died. We'll see what happens later. But Michael, we just got done with probably
Starting point is 01:13:53 one of the bigger Apple events we've seen. New CEO, new device, initial thoughts on it. Well, I think new CEO, I think he's pretty cool. Okay. I like the transition between the Tim Cook and John. Yeah, the rack focus kind of. It's not me, it's actually him. Okay, I liked it too. It was pretty sick.
Starting point is 01:14:18 I think it was overall pretty great. I liked the vent. A lot of the stuff was pretty cool, especially the folding iPhone. Yes, the folding iPhone. Obviously, like... iPhone Duo. Yeah, Duo. First of all, what do you think of the name Duo?
Starting point is 01:14:36 Kind of make sense because I think like maybe two screens on one side, like, you know, like an iPad, but like also a fold. So like a book, like or like a pass book. So I think that is something... It kind of makes sense. Yeah, yeah, for sure. I think as, you know, do you remember the Microsoft Duo? That's why I think it might spoil the name a little bit for us... Tech nerds, yeah, like one of the worst devices ever.
Starting point is 01:15:06 So, but I do think the name makes sense, but I cannot in good conscience say I like the name because of Surface Duo. Do you guys think they're reserving iPhone Ultra for like some mega phone? Like what, or will the iPhone never get an Ultra designation? Maybe. I'm not too sure. They're just saving the name for MacBook Ultra in two months. the rumored touchscreen, O-led. Imagine. That'd be sick.
Starting point is 01:15:33 So, pricing on Duo, did you think it was going to be higher? Are you... That was about the same? Really? Are we... We're out of touch, man. I think it's because, you know, I hold the CPU is, like, about really low,
Starting point is 01:15:48 and so, you know, they have to boost it up. Yeah, they ladder. They have to ladder it into other devices. I could see that. I thought it was $2,500, at least. At least. Yeah, same. So I was very surprised by that.
Starting point is 01:16:01 I think it's a spec. It's kind of like air where specs are down a little bit. I'm going to keep saying that. I'm going to be wrong. And that's the worst part about... It is like two iPhone airs glued together. It feels like, yeah. What else did we see?
Starting point is 01:16:13 Are you interested in buying this? Oh, yes. Because it is still... We're talking about it, but it is a product. Hmm. Well, last time you were talking about you wanted a folding iPhone. And we got it. I did say that.
Starting point is 01:16:26 And, um, I mean, it's cool to have. I think it's something that I probably won't, you know, end up getting. Because I got myself a 17 pro for like an early Christmas. I mean, both the present. Nice. Um, but I think that it's something that you want to have as maybe if you want to have like, as a display as like a tech creator, like, you know, pretty cool
Starting point is 01:16:57 but hi David we're all just gonna say hi David come on just 30 30 seconds hi David about everybody we can put him in the thumbnail now I'm going to briefings I'll see you go go go go that was awesome
Starting point is 01:17:16 sorry we had to that was cool look at that stride god what a guy with a giant backpack Okay, so yeah, you don't think you're going to get. I do think we're going to talk to a lot of people today who are probably going to be like, I don't know if I'm getting it because I bet so many people already have an iPhone and an iPad.
Starting point is 01:17:37 Yes, but I have an old iPad. You have an old iPad? It's not that old. It's not the old. It's decent. It's not the one of the touch ID. It's the one with the home button. Okay, okay. So I just haven't had two.
Starting point is 01:17:50 I'm going to laugh when we see you next year and you're like, I bought the duo. Yeah. Before we let you go, you mentioned that you brought something that you referenced last. when you were with us? Yes. I don't remember this. Get it out. I like that we're already at the point that people are bringing...
Starting point is 01:18:04 I got the iPhone 5C. What? Wow, it's tough. Wow, way to screw up our white balance. That's crazy. This thing is so sick. I don't remember the C being so small. It's very small and it's very bright.
Starting point is 01:18:16 Is it... So one thing I thought was interesting, and of course I'm going to be the one to say that closed, the duo has a 5.4 inch diagonal screen, which is the same diagonal. Cut. as the 12 mini. But I'm trying to compare it to this, and I can't. I'm so not used to bezels. Thank you so much for bringing it.
Starting point is 01:18:35 That's awesome. You might have the oldest iPhone. Oh, I got this. It's an iPhone of 3GS. 3GS. That's awesome. I'm going to give it back to you because my hands are covered in sunscreen and I don't want to. Dude, thank you so much for joining.
Starting point is 01:18:52 Yeah, thanks for doing. Hopefully we see. I don't know if we're going to do this next year, but if we are, hope to see you again. Thank you so much. Thanks all Michael. All right, we have Simon here. Welcome to the podcast. That's awesome.
Starting point is 01:19:03 So you told us that you speak Italian as your main language. On the side, Ellis is going to download some live translation to see if it works. Try to test it live. It will be. Okay. But thanks for joining us. Welcome. We had a big event, new CEO, duo.
Starting point is 01:19:21 Any initial thoughts on either? Everything new? Everything is big. Everything is big, but also small. Right? What do you think of the duo? The duo is nice. I like it.
Starting point is 01:19:34 I like it the front factor of it's more similar to the iPad Mini and the passport. I'm really big travel. I use many times the passport. And every time I have it in my pocket. And this is really cool. It's cool. Yeah, the size is maybe perfect. What do you think of the price?
Starting point is 01:19:52 The price? I see the video too much. And really? Really? It's not this too much. I expect maybe 2,300. But it starts to 2000. It's not too bad. No, I don't think it's bad. I mean, it's still expensive. But I know, I'm from Italy. I don't know the tax and everything. Yeah, yeah, right? Yeah, but yeah. It seems to be like a thousand per screen and we were all thinking there would be more of a premium. So it would be like a thousand, a thousand and then an extra like 400 just because there's an apple. I do remember the era that iPhone X is cost $999.
Starting point is 01:20:30 Yeah, and everyone freaked out. Two iPhone X. That's true, basically. What, do you still live in Italy or are you living in? I live in Italy, but now I make a trip to a round of the world in 96 day. Wow. Wow, 96 days? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:20:45 What day is this? This is 37. Day 37? Yeah, okay, cool. And the best day so far. Yeah, of course. The best day ever. That's so, like, where did you watch the event?
Starting point is 01:20:56 I'm watching here. Oh, okay. Like in the visitor city? I try to hunter, but this time no, maybe next year. Yeah, yeah. Maybe they'll let you in. But come on, now I'm here. You're in the bed.
Starting point is 01:21:08 This is where the cool people hang out. Yeah, yeah, yeah. New CEO. Cool, not cool, not Tim Cook. Come on. They're growing on me. The boy. No, you asked me.
Starting point is 01:21:19 Oh, you see a F1? Oh, yeah, yeah. I speak nothing more. The CEO is like a lot. that car I like a car Apple New CEO car okay well hold on John Turnus is which team in Formula One now if you're going to compare
Starting point is 01:21:38 to a car oh yeah you brought this up this is on you you know today I come here and I even in my backpack the F1 film to Apple the Lego car to signature to the new CEO Oh, that's cool. Rich, what team do you think? What are, what call, I'd say, this year's Red Bull?
Starting point is 01:22:04 Mm-hmm. No, you didn't disagree? Better? Okay, we'll see. Ellis, did you get these working? Okay, we're going to try live translation. Get your Italian ready. Okay.
Starting point is 01:22:20 I have a feeling he's got it ready. Yeah, I think he's good. No, I speak Italian? Yes, yes. I use my best Italian ever. Okay. He's going to use the live translation feature on the AirPods. Okay, a little context in case you have never listened to Wave Form before, in which case, welcome.
Starting point is 01:22:38 This is the Wayform podcast. I, for years, have said that live translation won't exist and never will exist. And now it allegedly exists. And I'm going to use it for the very first time and probably eat my words. So I've never done this before, but I have the translation app open. I have Italian installed and I'm going to hit Start Translation. Would you like to speak Italian to me? Okay.
Starting point is 01:23:07 You just speak to me. I think so. Come stay? Oh, no, you do need to speak to my phone. Oh, okay. How am I? I'm good. Do you say anything else?
Starting point is 01:23:29 Are you supposed to say it back in Italian or is the first? I don't know. All it said to me was, how are you? Oh. The event of today's event. I did enjoy today's event. I thought it was a little bit weird and slightly boring, but, you know, it's fine, I guess. Is that giving it back to you? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:23:56 Oh, yeah. Wait, so this works? Sort of. This is the most, the pausing is... I knew it. I knew this didn't work. I'm not... 30% is good, but the 70 is good. Give me something really fast, really difficult, like, let's push it.
Starting point is 01:24:15 Let's make that these signori me are making some questions very interesting on Formula One and Apple. So, we'll capiaum upon the da-farsi in the next... Riveting audio experience. Okay, no, no, I got that. Those were interesting questions. 99% is okay.
Starting point is 01:24:38 Yeah? And one is no. Okay. All right. It's super nice. What did he say? He said, these gentlemen are asking me some pretty interesting questions about Formula One. Oh.
Starting point is 01:24:47 Right? Yeah. It's perfect. Okay. I still hate it, but, you know, I guess it works. It's no way to carry on a conversation, but in a situation where it needs to be, yeah. Thank you very much for testing this feature with us live. Was there any other questions?
Starting point is 01:25:03 I think. Any other thoughts on the event? Final thoughts? You don't have to have any. Yeah. Next time. Wait, are you going to get a duo? Duo.
Starting point is 01:25:13 Are you going to buy one? No. No. Okay. I like a passport, but I'm more a camera guy. I'm, okay, I was convinced you were going to say yes because you were glowing about it a minute ago. Series is repeating everything you guys are saying in English.
Starting point is 01:25:30 Like it's just definitely. Our goal now is to find one person who will buy the duo on the podcast, on the man on the show podcast. Yeah, that's the goal. No, I speak to every guy. And it's a minute, no, no. It's cool, but now. It's cool, it's insane, but no. It's the Benny robot of phones.
Starting point is 01:25:47 It's the, yeah, it's like, that's really sick. Don't know what I'd use it for, and I'm not buying it, but. Yeah. Nice. I can't hear it. Okay. I don't think that's working. All right, Simon, thank you so much.
Starting point is 01:25:58 It was great to meet you. Thank you for joining us. Enjoy the rest of your trip. Thank you. Yeah. Pussos speaking. Peace. Ah!
Starting point is 01:26:07 All right, thank you so much for watching. This is another. Waveform Man on the Street. Awesome guests again. A bunch of repeat. A bunch of repeats is awesome. We cannot confirm whether we'll be doing this next year, but if we do do it again next year,
Starting point is 01:26:23 it'll be, I don't know. Hopefully cooler. Wayform's produced by Adam Alina and Ellis Rovin, a partner with Vox Media Podcast Network, and our track of your music is created by Vain Still. And Rich Ho. And Rich Ho. Say out of the camera, Rich.
Starting point is 01:26:37 He's a little shy.
