Welcome back to We Are Chelsea, the official podcast of Chelsea Women, brought to you in association with Skoda, the official car partner of Chelsea women and proud supporter of women's sport.
I'm M. Warbank and today we're doing something a little bit different.
Award seasons here and the Oscars are just around the corner, so we thought it was only right to host our very own Chelsea Women's Oscars.
And who better to do that with one of your favourite Chelsea Giroes?
We're handing out wards. We're casting a movie. And of course, we're going to be catching up a like to.
This is We Are Chelsea with Erin Cuthbert and Guru writing.
Have we started?
Okay, right.
We are...
I'm so sorry.
Erin Cuthbert's coming called Cornage.
Oh no, sorry, sorry.
Welcome to the pod.
Erin, you're returning again.
How are we being to do?
Cool, Sam.
Delighted to be here yet again, I feel like.
This needs to have my name on it.
Podcast Princess.
She really is.
You've been on the pod before.
Are you excited to be back together again?
It's been a while.
Not snow
Not for you
But the only time
I'm on the podcast
It's with her
Recurring character
I like it
You are the main character
Of the Chelsea Women's podcast
Broient, lucky me
I do think there probably
is a counter
You probably have been on this
As many times as I have
Aye
I would love for somebody listening
To tally up them
At a times I've been on this podcast
That would be great
And tally up them interviews
See if I'm carrying on my back
Just to see
And if I'm no well then I'll shut up
you're a duo that fans get really excited about
why do you think people love seeing you guys together
have you seen her facial expressions
nay wonder
if that isn't an ad for watching this on YouTube
instead of listening to it
but it's what I do I laugh of you
because of all the things you say and do
well true but on the pitch as well
that guru's just a right character
I feel like I'm a verbal character
and guru's just a character
with her facial expressions like how
express if the girl is, honestly,
you think her world's crashing down
when she misses a shot.
Well, you don't need to ask
how I'm feeling about it
because you already know.
You've seen it on my face.
At least people know exactly
where they stand with you.
If you don't tell them verbally
your first world.
Yeah.
Now, obviously we've mentioned
you've been on the pod a fair bit
but today we're mixing things up a bit.
We're doing something new.
Oh.
We are currently hosting
the Chelsea Women's Oscars
Yeah.
All right.
Look, less confused.
Tell me more.
I'm going to read out a category.
Right.
And it's up to you guys today
to present the awards.
You can nominate
whoever you think deserves it.
You can agree.
You can disagree.
You can debate.
That's all encouraged.
Sadly, I don't have any trophies.
We can't even Oscar without trophies.
I have got a bag of Percy Pigs
in my handbag.
All right, that's kind.
Yeah.
Cuthbert of Caterpillars to win.
Cuthbert.
Are you on Team Cuthbert rather than Colin?
Well, it's my same name.
Yeah, I know.
But Collin's the blueprint.
She's not coming back to the podcast.
I'm calling.
But Cuthbert's a cat, I pull up, what you mean?
Copycat.
I'm better than the main event.
I'm raging.
You actually said that.
But Cuthbert is, he's the one that caused a bit of a stir, in it?
I, that's why I'm staying at all.
Same, apparently.
You were like, yeah, chaos.
I like it.
So we're going to go on to our first category today.
Who do you think this season has had a breakout performance?
Who have you really seen coming to their own?
I'll let you answer the time.
I'll let you answer this one.
No, no, no, no. Over at you.
Over to you.
Back to you.
Didn't hear what you said.
Who do you think this season has had a breakout performance
who's really come into their own.
Who's impressed you?
Are we nominating or are we...
I think we're nominate a teammate.
Like three of them?
Like an Oscar?
And the winner is.
Do you know what?
We'll put a cap on it.
You can't have Oscars without rules?
Which are rules?
Unfortunately, I am just a life piece.
At all times.
But we'll cap it. We'll say, we'll nominate three.
Right.
And then between you, you'll be...
You deliver.
And then you can look at this camera over here
and decide who the Oscar's going to go to.
Okay, the first nominee is
Alyssa, right?
Quick, fast, score goals.
Okay, I like that.
Second nominee, Hannah Hampton.
I actually get most clean sheets to like,
so it speaks to itself.
I hope I'm right when I say that,
but I think that's right.
And the third one is
Ewing Gap.
I'm no sure about that.
I'm nominating you.
I'll listen to what she says,
but I'm not sure about that.
But I'll take it.
No. Right. Well, so it's between Hannah and Alyssa then.
So, why don't we choose?
Eric's taking yourself out of the race.
I have took myself. I mean, to be fair, you could choose either.
Split them, there isn't a trophy, so.
True. Can I, can you can cut the Percy Pig in half.
Do you know what? You've been on the podcast as much as I have. I feel like you're
in the realm of making rules yourself.
True. Well, I'm going to say, I'm going to go for Hannah Hampton.
just because of how consistent she's been this season.
So, well done Hannah Hampton,
breakout performance of the year, according to...
Well, I'm just not even break out,
because she did a good year last year.
Yeah, I know.
So maybe actually, because you've used the word
then breakout, I would go for Alyssa.
Oh, that's the first time in the history...
Oh, no, it's not actually.
No, it's happened a lot of times.
I've seen it on TV.
Yeah, an Oscar has been rescinded.
Yeah, I take it back.
Swall in my words.
Congratulations, Alyssa.
You are the breakout performance of the year.
Yeah.
Who do you think this year has stole the show?
Someone who managed to steal the show.
It can be a standout performance by one of your teammates
or someone who always draws the attention in the best way,
whether that's on or off the pitch.
Who are we nominating?
Podcast Princess.
Oh, no, man.
I'm going to nominate.
I love that this has come a game of guru
just nominating her in for every year.
just to watch this way.
Face. Face of the podcast.
Oh, for good.
And not Chelsea.
I'm going to say...
Oh God, I forgot what you said again, but...
What was it?
Oh.
Wait, I see it again?
Someone that's stolen the show,
either on or off the pitch.
Let's think off the pitch.
Stolen the show.
Because when we had you on last time,
Aaron, we talked a lot about initiations
and who was good.
They were actually pretty, standard's pretty high.
I mean, Michael set the standards
really high.
Who died?
To be fair, I've seen a fair few TikToks,
I'm going to, it's between two for off the pitch,
Millie and Alyssa for their TikTok presence.
TikTok queens, we love it.
Aye, they are TikTok queens,
so I probably say them,
but Millie's probably more like quantity,
that this is maybe more like quality,
so it's like tough like category to pick from,
if you honest.
It is, it's really, really, nitty-go-ty.
I'm not saying Alyssa again,
so I'm going to go away.
Oscar girls too, I'm going to say Millie Bright.
Millie Bright, stole the show.
What a winner.
Congratulations, Millie Bright.
Your TikToks have cinched the game.
Our next Oscar is for Best Soundtrack.
Who controls the music in the dressing room and on the bus?
And who controls it well?
Who's the, who's been trusted with the odds?
Well, there's a different, you said well at the end of it,
so I have to be clear with that.
but I'm going to nominate Ellie Carpenter.
She seems to...
It's not really about what tunes she selects
because we normally have a team playlist
but it's about how you connect it to the Bluetooth,
how quick you're getting in that dressing room.
So tunes are ready for when the team walk in
like you better be first in that dressing room.
That better be fully connected
and synced by the time we get in there.
And it better have offline mode
because sometimes you don't get signal in the changing rooms.
There's so many logistics.
You've got to think of all the factors.
You've got a degree in that.
the logistics and stuff, isn't you?
Which is dead smart, honestly.
No, I have, but yeah. There you go.
But you didn't know that.
I didn't know that.
Is it procurement?
Logistics.
See, that's class.
What does a degree in logistics entail?
Oh, God, don't ask me.
How long have you got?
Well, I did. I finished it in Norway, so yeah, I do have a degree.
Summarize it, quick.
Nobody got.
It can be.
you know, working with sales,
getting a product from one place to another house,
what's cheapest, how can you earn most money,
stuff like that.
Oh, so all stuff that's really applicable to football then?
No.
Right, how you get the ball to the goal?
Yes, the same, Hank.
How you get the product to the goal and how you get the ball to the...
I like it.
The product to consumer are the ball and the goal.
It's the same thing.
So if our nominees for the best soundtrack,
we've got, every carpins it?
I would nominate yo-yo,
Because I like her music.
She always put some Swedish things.
Yeah, I know.
I knew we were going to say that, but yeah,
she does it in the gym.
Ellie always do the music in the dressing room for games.
There's a few rogue ones.
There's been a few rogue ones
of high school musical lately
that I've been a bit unsure about,
to be quite honestly.
Are you not an high school musical gal?
No, no before the game.
I want some absolute bangers.
But literally a song called Get You Ready in the game.
That's the song that's been playing as well.
Is it?
Yeah. I've spun up.
See, that feels like, I mean, obviously,
It's a basketball taping.
True.
It's no good of my century.
No, I can imagine, actually.
It's quite distracting when you're about to play football.
Aye.
Imagine that a volume that I've had on 40.
It's rough.
Not now, Zach Ephraim.
Not now, I'm like I.
There's a time and a place for your love.
And it's not before a game.
No, it ain't.
So we've nominated L.A.,
we've reluctantly, from one of you, nominated you're year.
Who else we nominating?
What I'm hearing is, don't leave?
leave Chelsea Women in charge of the Oaks because we have a playlist where you can add your own songs.
So even though...
So it really could be a team effort.
It's a team effort, yeah.
I nominate Chelsea Women.
Chelsea women?
Aye.
As a collective?
Give us a place.
What is it called?
Pig, Percy.
A Percy Pig or whatever that is.
To all of us.
Well, 25th it between us.
I think, do you know what?
I think we can get to Eminester, we can get you each your own Percy Piers.
That would be nice.
Yeah.
And we're going to have to really going to have to put up the Percy Pig budget.
Who are we giving the win?
Are we giving it to Chelsea Women?
Yeah.
Chelsea Women is.
So a playlist.
Amazing.
The Oscar goes to Chelsea Women for Best Soundtrack.
Fantastic.
Best supporting role Oscar.
This could be the ultimate teammate.
This is someone who makes everyone around them better.
I like that.
It's a nice one.
That's a nice one.
Quite awesome.
I'm not.
night, Neve.
Mm.
She's really supportive to everyone.
She's been injured, but she's checking in, caring for virtually everyone.
Oh, sweet, huh?
So Neve's made the list?
Yeah, that's a cute one.
I'm going to...
Oh, got a bubble in my throat there.
I'm going to nominate Kadeeshire Bikanin,
because we sit next to each other in the dressing room,
and she's been a terribly long time with injury,
and she always asks how I'm feeling, checking in,
to get my stuff off her locker space as well, yeah, I had.
But she's always checking in,
and she's always got a smile on her face,
and even though she's been through quite a tough and difficult period of her life,
got quite serious.
Yeah.
Sentimental.
I know.
Next to my changing room locker buddy.
She contains multitudes.
I love this.
So we've got, we've got a case, we've got Neve,
who's our third nominee for this?
Good question.
Because what I will say with the podcast,
it's really nice, seeing the different pairings of you guys coming here.
and hearing your little stories about each other
and hearing the nice little camaraderie
and moments that you've had together
that I feel like from this side of things
I could nominate any one of you
because I've heard lovely stories about all of you.
That's nice.
It is, it's really nice
because I never sit here feeling intimidated
when you're walking in
because I've just heard lovely things about you all.
Can we nominate a staff member?
You can nominate your staff member.
Because I want a nominate song.
Oh, that's.
That's a nice nominee.
Yeah, song's the cutest person.
And literally like she checks in on everyone as well in the gym.
Like giving you feedback after a session,
just good energy, good vibes.
I would second that.
Well, I think if we're seconded in that,
is that our Oscar winner there?
Just let us deliberate.
We're going to have a moment for deliberation
whilst we go to our sponsors.
This episode is sponsored by Skoda.
So.
Drum roll.
the Oscar goes to
Song
I actually think we really up to our presentation then
she's going to be absolutely chuffed
and she says
and we love her warm up
yeah the best warm up
it's so nice to hear
staff members getting their flowers as well
our next Oscar category
maybe as well take them for your cardigan hen
quite a few on now
for anybody that's just listening
to the podcast. A, you shouldn't be, because
guru's facial expressions are fantastic, but I've
got loads of flowers on my cardigan.
Our next Oscar category is best picture.
You can take this, however you like.
The examples we've got here is, is it,
they're a standout game, is there a big moment,
or even like a best selfie or TikTok
that you'd nominate? Like, what's been
particularly memorable in the season so far?
I forget what happens in the first half of the season.
Honestly, I do forget.
you've probably been on the podcast a few times then
so you already talked about that.
It's true.
This one's taking some real serious start.
I've not been posting much.
Same.
I've been very active.
I'm going to say
like picture moment is maybe
Vika celebrating when we beat Man City
a couple of weeks ago in the Subway
Cup semi-final
to qualify.
final so put us in a good position to go on and take part of my another final.
Smashed it so Vika celebrations up there.
Maybe a moment in training or...
Is there anything from the other?
I've got a moment, but I can't remember what happened.
Wait a minute.
The judges are deliberated so I'm going to take this time to remind you that the
Kodiak and the Eniac are fantastic selections.
and from the Skoda Redge.
But if you fancy anything else,
check the website out.
Right.
Got something for you.
We've deliberated.
Just a quick question.
I'm just rolling it out to the backroom staff here.
Did we go to Holland in pre-season?
This season.
Because we're not sure.
We did, didn't we right?
I lose track of my days.
Honestly, I don't even know what I done yesterday,
never mind them pre-season.
So we're going to nominate
moment of the year so far.
and it's the winner
but it's the winner
it's the winner it's
there's no other
hands down he's clear
it's Mr Dan Smith
goalkeeping coach
um
he took part
in our team activity
involving some sheep
herding and
let's just say the sheep
attacked him from behind
it's probably a good way
to describe it
and it was jumping at
and he'll have on his back
to be fair
and I think it was just
a moment of the year
everyone absolutely died
but it was brilliant for team camaraderie
and I feel that all those things happened to Dan
like Dan's just the guy that is like the butt of the joke
in terms of the most silly things happening
so yeah I would say that definitely
congratulations Dan you are the recipient of Best Picture
this podcast is brought to you by Scudor
the official car partner for Chelsea women
and proud supporter of women's sport
its football season is time for after work training
muddy boots and early morning weekend games
whether you play a five aside after work
Cheer the kids on from the sidelines on a Saturday morning,
or gather with your mates to watch the big leagues every weekend.
Skoda is the perfect companion for your everyday adventures.
Skip around town in your all-electric eniac or give the squad a lift home in the 7th seat a Kodiak.
There's something in the range to suit teams of all shapes and sizes,
but don't just take my word for it though.
Search the Skoda Range today to jump in and see for yourself.
Next category, best costume design.
Who consistently puts together the best outfits?
Who's the best dress on the team?
I mean, everybody's gonna say different, but I'm personally going to go
for like Natalie Bjorn.
Simplistic Scandy.
Gourle might probably agree.
Just cool all round fits.
And like everything's matching.
It's like in season.
And she's,
does not look as if she's trying.
So I'd probably say,
basically cool.
I that and that's the look I'm going for
but nobody's going to vote me.
But it's such a shame, be honest.
You could,
you're head of the judging committee.
You could put yourself there.
I could put myself there.
because nobody else is goney.
Aye.
So that's my nomination, Natalie Bjorn.
So, Nat, are we nominated?
Is there any other honourable mentions from the team?
No, we're going to give her.
No contest whatsoever.
Congrats Nat.
Best costumes, is I.
I think it's Nat because she goes with me and Gouros dress since.
I think there's a lot of other cool folk that I could never pull off at their bed.
In my wildest dreams, there would be a few things wrong,
and I'd be getting a few looks.
So it's Natalie Bjorn
purely for the fact that she is simplistic and cool
like obviously myself.
A cool girl.
Cool girl, we love it.
Oh, so this next category
has actually got me in bits.
The script writing's fantastic on this one.
I hope there's an Oscar for that.
Best short film, i.e., who is the shortest in the team?
Alyssa?
A shortest in terms of what?
Short, just shortest in the team.
It's got to be Alyssa, you must be.
Alyssa Thompson, surely.
She's sweeping up today.
She's, absolutely sweeping up.
She's been nominated for three, one, two.
I'm mostly short of the team.
It's got to be Alice.
He's been on Los Angeles or Sonia if you're proud.
Congrats on winning this one.
Congrats on winning this one by default.
It is Alyssa, right?
I'm questioning myself.
It could be me, but I don't think so.
Alas is smaller than me.
Aye.
Got it to be.
A request for the pod.
We want full team line up in high order.
Alla the Von Traps in Sound of Music.
We want the full line-off.
Yeah, standing up, like, you know,
the jail photo that you get.
You line them up as all up.
Usual suspects.
Sandy's quite up there as well.
Oh yeah.
Sandy's quite small.
I would say.
We've had a last.
minute contender.
I would do with the last minute
contender.
No.
What do you think?
Sandy wears big shoes
to be fair.
Probably makes her look bigger.
She's always likes
like the big compy boots.
Probably makes it look taller.
No, I'm going to go
a lesser.
I'm going to stick with my first answer.
Yeah.
The Oscar for best short film goes to
listen to Trump's.
Is that correct?
I don't know.
All right, okay.
You check that at Google.
Off-screen image.
It's no.
Who?
Sandy.
Oh, count.
No, she's, no.
Nine centimeters.
Nine centimeters is...
There's not a chance.
There's not a chance.
Check that information.
Bigger's...
I can't believe out of all of the categories.
This is the one that's caused the most debate.
Right.
There's not a chance.
I'm going to get them matched up tomorrow.
I'll be sending you that photo.
I'm not sure how much I trust Google either
because Google's...
Google says my mum's Tyra Banks.
It's on the website.
You need to fix your website then by the sound set.
Moving swiftly on to our next category.
Best hair and makeup.
Who is the best on the team at getting glammed up?
Yo-yo.
Yo-yo.
Oh, there was no competition there whatsoever.
No.
With either of you.
She cares.
Yeah, yeah.
It like matters to her.
She has pride in like how she looks every day.
Her skin's like glass.
She's glowing.
I went on her skincare routine.
be honest but I've just no get a time.
Yeah, drop the skin care of tea.
Drop the products. Give us the tutorial.
Yeah, we're done it. Well done.
Oscar goes to you, babes. No contest.
I see her at her locker all the time.
She's get like 400 different creams in her hand and she's opening the train.
It's like, oh, it's like cream after cream.
Oh, it's falling out. The cleanse or the exfoliator, right?
It's like, things are coming out the locker.
It's just, oh, I couldn't I?
I just don't have the patience for that.
Just a wee splash of water and we're good to go.
Maybe a brush.
Aye, that too.
I like it.
Occasionally.
I'd quite like the whole team's skincare routines.
Like, let's see how it varies from person to person.
Quite significantly, I think.
Is there anybody on the team that you'd say is like high maintenance
when it comes to appearance?
Yeah, a yo-yo.
I would say.
But no in a bad way, but I think, like, I respect that level of, like, care.
I mean, obviously yo-yo's a really pretty girl as well,
so she doesn't really even need makeup
but she likes it, makes her feel good,
makes her feel glam
and makes her want to perform as well
because I know that she wears obviously
makeup when she plays
but there's quite a few people that wear makeup
when they play more than
you'd think
because it's more of a natural kind of look
when they play.
I don't know if you wear mascara
if I remember.
I should remember.
Oh, we're going to need the team
to drop a get ready with me
because if they're
makeup's lasting through a game.
I think ours would be quick.
I knew.
Mine's is a non-existent
but I know Millie's
obviously, I mean, how long it takes to put that
bun up? Yeah, that's
20 minutes. All right, well yours was 20
minutes in the weekend, she were getting annoyed with her hair.
Yeah. You have good, good
hair days and bad hair days. Yeah, this
weekend was bad. It was not given.
She was losing the will to live.
The facial expressions. I'd went to the toilet,
I'd done my contact lenses, came back, I'd brush my hair
and went and to get some treatment. She still stood at
bathroom mirror. I was like, is everything all right? And she was like,
oh, I can't do. Sometimes there's no like, hotter rage than not being able to get, yeah.
When it's just something really simple, that keeps going wrong as well. So annoying. I didn't even
see it. And she's like, I can see it in the mirror. I'm like, right, okay, then. I'll leave you at that.
Well, that concludes our Chelsea Women's Oscars. We're going to have a little bit of a catch up
just to sort of round things off. Um, Gura,
A lot has changed for you recently.
How's life been since having a birthday?
Oh, it's been great, honestly.
Gives a different perspective of life, I think.
You know, I can have good and bad days,
and then I come home,
and there's a little guy there just smiling,
happy to see me, so it is really nice
and can get my mind off, football and everything.
So, yeah.
That's really sweet.
That is cute.
And this is his godmother.
Oh, my God.
No one believes me.
That's a pod exclusive.
That's a pod exclusive.
Nah, it was the cutest moment when I brought him to the training ground.
Erin obviously just took him and walked around showing him off to everyone and like,
I'm the godmother.
And everyone's like, no, that's a joke.
No one believed it.
No, it's true.
I was like, no, no, no, I'm his godmother.
Taking the rule very seriously.
No, I take that so seriously.
Proud godmother.
I got his first book and stuff for Christmas.
I take that seriously.
You seem to find yourself...
I feel like it's my son.
In the circle,
because the last time we had you on the podcast,
we had the podcast with Sam,
obviously talking about Sam's baby.
Are you getting any babysitting opportunities
now that there's another baby in the squad?
No, no, no, no.
Ask her about,
would you think about like diapers and stuff?
Oh, no, no, no, I'm not interested in that.
Godmothers for like the aesthetic.
Are you learning, cuddling,
and oh, you're so cute.
No, no, I'm not doing any of that.
thing she'd said to me so I'm like okay
you're not babysitting them just established
the rules, no funny business and then we're good
is there anybody in the team that you
would trust to babysit? I mean Sam obviously
and Millie
Millie is and Millie is great with kids yeah Meli is
and she just wings them up yeah yeah
you're so cute look at you
that's all you hear from Millie
yeah but she's she is great
because she loves kids as well she's had kids
around her family and I think Lucy
would be a good babysitter
I maybe
I've seen her
on TV all the time
and they're always around
so like
niece and nephews
yeah she's like
doing back flips with them
and like flipping them
they're on her shoulders
and I'm like let's see
she's like I've got us under control
maybe we're a little longer then
until I see you're so lovely
that you've got that vibe with the team
that it does almost because
like you said he's your son
you feel like you've all sort of like
adopted each other's kids
Very sweet.
Looking forward to the rest of the season
as things are getting busier and more intense
towards the business end, how do you support each other
as a team?
What's that look like for you guys?
Talking about our feelings,
like there's a lot of people that are in different moments
and just verbalising it and talking at your team mates,
talking to those that you trust as well as super important
because it's a really stressful time
and there's a lot of expectations on us,
a lot of expectations from fans and in the outside.
Even the club and the coaches,
they expect performances every day, every week.
So I think the only people that can affect that directly
is your team mates, so you have to use them as best as you can.
Yeah, well, that feels like a great place to end the podcast on.
That's it for our Chelsea Women's Oscars episode.
A huge thank you to the birth of you for joining us.
You've been excellent judges and awards nominators and presenters.
You bring in those bags with pigs?
I don't know the name.
Percy pigs.
Sorry.
Do you know what?
That's not my favourite,
but...
I'm going to send you away with a bag
because they'll change your life, honestly.
Same time next week, boss.
Same time next week.
You're taking over, I've heard.
Hi.
Season four is just Erin's show.
As the first and early members
of the squad so far
to take part of the Chelsea Women's Oscars,
do you want to give a short speech
to the fans to say,
thank you for listening?
You first?
No, you.
Okay, me.
Thank you very much for listening.
I know that you're probably
sick of my voice by how many times I've been on here.
But I really, really appreciate you tuning in,
but also supporting us week in, weekend, weekend, week in, weekend and week out
through good and bad moments.
You're always there.
So stick with us.
We're going to need you in the second part of the season.
Definitely going to need yourself.
Be louder, be proud.
We love it.
Thanks so much, guys.
Thank you.
That was so fun.
