Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello and welcome to We Are Chelsea, the official podcast of Chelsea Women, brought to you in association with Skoda, the official car partner of Chelsea Women and proud supporters of women's sport. I'm Kazdemore's and today I'm delighted to be joined by Neve Charles, Kat Makario and Micah Jimano. Dubbed Family FC by the fans, the iconic trio are best friends off the pitch. So I'm excited to get to know them a bit better. This is We Are Chelsea with Neve Charles, Kat Makario and Micah Jimano. Hello! Hello!
Starting point is 00:00:38 Do you want to say it was cat's fault, completely? Have you met Kat? Micah son? I haven't met. Is she? But Kat, you're Brazilian, aren't you? Exactly. I'm also.
Starting point is 00:00:49 Oh, serious. That was true. That was true. Carioca. Opa. Maybe that's why she's like, Oh. Ooh.
Starting point is 00:00:58 Hi. Were you guys part of the Lion King initiation song? She was. Good times, good times. What was it? Yeah. Go on. Wimawa.
Starting point is 00:01:14 A we mowa. A we mowa. And then Micah. Ah, E. Yeah. E. E, e, e, e, me, ma, ma.
Starting point is 00:01:23 Yay. Yay. But the actual original version. Micah was, I think she hit puberty that day. Essentially, the voice was cracking all the time. She was like, owie.
Starting point is 00:01:41 What were your, did you guys sing? What were your initiation songs? Mine was the year before, and I did it with Mia with three little birds. Three little birds? Yeah, by Balmirely. Yeah. Oh, sing in a sweet song.
Starting point is 00:01:55 In the background. I want to hear. I want to hear. the longer the song went on. She just went into the background. She is high. Like, I mean, I have a little bit of anxiety towards, like, public speaking. So then it was just, like, being in front of a crowd in general.
Starting point is 00:02:10 Oh. So that's why. Yeah, you never think it, would you. I would never think that. I mean, yeah. Yeah, I know. Like, it's like, I do not like it. What?
Starting point is 00:02:19 I think maybe this is so much. I think, like, my foreigners side just comes out and be like, oh, shoot, do I even know how to speak English? And it's just kind of like, you know. So I totally get what Micah is, like, feeling right now. But because we are between, like, family, then it's okay. You are between, I mean, and that is literally the topic of today. But, Micah, just remember, any anxiety you have about speaking English, none of us speak any Japanese. True.
Starting point is 00:02:46 Yeah. So, actually, what can I? Itchy knee, Sanchiko, loco Nana, hajikurja, why? Just, because I went. because I went to Osaka and I was like, maybe I should learn how to at least count to 10. Oh, I did you know, Osaka? Yeah, well, sorry, yeah, and that's why I mentioned it, yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:06 Amazing barbecue meat. The food in Osaka. Yeah. Speaking of which, I don't know, are we going away now? We have something to address publicly. Why? Wait, wait, wait, wait, wait, wait. Why?
Starting point is 00:03:22 Why? Make it. Is this the consequences of you? your actions. Yeah, we'll bring it to light, okay? I'm not sure if people saw, but on Instagram on Monday, Micah treated Julia and Aggie to a lovely little bit of Japanese food. The betrayal I felt when I saw that, never once has she cooked either of us food.
Starting point is 00:03:45 I don't know confidence to make. Oh, no, she makes it sound terrible. You don't have the confidence to make these guys food, but just Aggie. I didn't want to make, but like Agi said, like, Micah, make, make. So she forced you. She's like, she said, I'm not eating food. She made you make food.
Starting point is 00:04:06 She made you go to waitrose and... What did you make? Chicken. What kind of chicken? Like, with Japanese season and you said. Yeah. Just fry. Oh, you fried it.
Starting point is 00:04:20 And rice. And rice. You had a nice little rice. Sounds really nice, Micah. Yeah. And didn't they say that was like the best chicken she's ever had? And here we're like driving to training today and we're like, Micah cooked for other people and not her parents.
Starting point is 00:04:39 So yeah, we feel very betrayed. I'm not going to lie. And you can definitely cook better than both of us. Yeah. Yeah. She's like, no, you're not supposed to agree. Maybe can we get you officially to say that you will cook for them? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:56 Yeah. When? Oh, cat's like, lock in a date now. Yeah. Oh, when she gets? Oh, yeah. Yeah. I'm just moving into a new house, so when it's all sorted.
Starting point is 00:05:09 Oh, congratulations. Thank you. Housewarming. Yes. Housewarming dinner party, maybe. Yes. Well, I'm way off that. My parents are a bit stressed, but.
Starting point is 00:05:17 Oh. I'm not. You're not. You're like, I got my mom and dad for that. It's not going to burn down. It's a slow process. But as some, point, yes. And Michael will cook for us. Correct. I know. Where have you been staying this whole time
Starting point is 00:05:32 leave Charles for the past six months? Kat's house. She's been very generous. I've been homeless for six months. Six months? Yeah. Well, yeah, and all my stuff's been in storage. So it's been very freeing actually. I've had no, like I've had four outfits on repeat for six months. Is that freeing? It is, yeah. So I've, I've had none of my stuff, apart from a few bits that I kept out for six months. For six months, you've been rotating four outfits. Well, I say four. What's the laundry like?
Starting point is 00:06:03 Um, it usually gets to, I have no clothes left. So then I'll have to do laundry. I see. But it's a really good way to make sure you wear all of the clothes you have. When you've got four outfits for six months, I'm hoping you would. She's cabbing. Yeah, I do have more. Okay.
Starting point is 00:06:20 Yeah, but most of it was like, I kept stuff out to go on holiday in the summer. So I'm still rocking like linen stuff. In the winter. So yeah, I'm really excited that I have my stuff back now. And then if you've been staying at Katz, is Kat a good cook? Nah, and Eve does the cooking. She needs to pay for rent somehow. I actually pay for it too.
Starting point is 00:06:44 I love that. I can stir up some eggs or something, but like we've started to make some like breakfast burritos, which has been good. Oh. We make some good breakfast burritos. But cats cooked for me a total of months. Oh, what did you make? You made an omel at once.
Starting point is 00:06:58 She's like once, I don't even remember it once. Yeah, she made an omelette once. And it was really good, wasn't it? It was actually really good. Yeah, see? Placidly surprised. Yeah. Okay.
Starting point is 00:07:08 On the book, how many times have you cooked? How many times have kneeve cooked? Pretty much every day, every other day. All the time. What meals do you cook? Well, do you enjoy cooking? No. Oh, right.
Starting point is 00:07:24 Oh. But I just. loves to me that much. I have started to enjoy it more. But the cat does this thing where I'm like, I'm going to make this, do you want any? And she's like, no. And then I'll cook it. And she'll be like, oh, that's actually kind of nice. And then we'll eat it. So like, once, I was like, I'm making this meatball thing. Do you want anything? And she's like, no. So I was just like, right, I'll just make it myself. And so obviously I had like more. And she comes down and she tastes it. And she goes, and I'm like, there's left over it. There's another portion there. If you want it,
Starting point is 00:07:52 she's like, yeah, I might have it, please. And it just eats the whole. meal but it'd much easier if she's like oh yeah okay i'll have that with you so i know that i'm cooking for maybe what you've said you're going to cook in theory doesn't sound great yeah yeah no it does not and then i see it and i'm like okay fine not that bad it's just normal things honestly but it's yeah yeah i mean i'm again if we can throw it back to i think it was like our thanksgiving edition last year when i exposed me if we're not being able to cook at least i can do like some eggs like a nice little salad we're like shrimp whatever so then when neve came into my life essentially she exposed me to different things like fajitas like meatballs which i mean obviously
Starting point is 00:08:37 exposure therapy but to be fair i also showed her how great avocado is yeah that's true mushrooms i now eat mushrooms you didn't eat mushrooms no i hate mushrooms we're a child but cat has them in everything so like we have to have mushrooms. Do you eat love rice? Do I love rice? Yeah. Oh yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:00 Because I feel like Brazilians, we always have rice. For sure. We love rice. Oh, yeah. Same in Japan, right? Yeah. Mm-hmm. But it's not the same.
Starting point is 00:09:07 Like, if my mother is cooking, then it's like, oh, yeah, please. Like, you know, put a little farrofa in there and like whatnot. But like, if it's me trying to do it, then it's like, you can't do it. Is your stick? Cats also made me some Brazilian things, like Brazilian cheese bread. Oh, yeah. Ponchechechecheu. Bejuu
Starting point is 00:09:25 sa with tapio Oh yeah Did you like it? Yeah really good Okay Sorry I've made this podcast Into a cooking show this season All I do with people
Starting point is 00:09:35 Is talk about food I think it's because it's always Around lunchtime And I'm hungry So I'm just like Hmm Let's talk about food But that's literally what we do
Starting point is 00:09:42 We play football And we eat Yeah a lot True I should have been a footballer And sleep And sleep I definitely should have been
Starting point is 00:09:50 A footballer Yeah Listen can I just say This episode the fans have been asking for you three so much yay so much
Starting point is 00:10:02 and they've nicknamed you Family FC so tell me I think I already know is Michael the child and you guys the parents who's mum and dad no and the mom leaves the dad
Starting point is 00:10:12 no we're both of us yeah okay that's not yeah fine and who's sometimes you know how every family has like a strict auntie
Starting point is 00:10:21 or a strict grandparent who would be the grandparent parents sometimes or the auntie who would take on the strict role if you need to like toe the line I'd say I'm the strict role yeah I would say she's just she's not a helicopter parent yeah so if we do anything cats like whoa whoa whoa dangerous dangerous stop oh yeah yeah but I'm also like she's serious yeah she's no fun that's not true boring I will say in the beginning I'm also like the crazy like aunt as well that's kind of like oh like the one with no children who just swans in every self yeah it's like oh you need
Starting point is 00:10:59 anything sweetie here you go you know just kind of like maybe not like oh if you need any i always saw michael was like if you need anything come to me like obviously like to us um but you know like maybe some things like on the down though i don't know if i can say that like out there but you can't go in specific we slash you also teach like a some well the whole team really some inappropriate things. That we have to say, Micah, you can't say to the parents. Like, that's rude.
Starting point is 00:11:27 Yeah. Like, beep! Oh, yes. Well done. I thought you were going to actually say something and I was like, oh, we'll just beep it out.
Starting point is 00:11:36 Yeah. Or beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep, beep. Beep, beep, beep. Beep, beep, beep. Yeah, they can, everyone can guess what that was. Yeah, I think they can. Yeah. Michael, what was your first impress?
Starting point is 00:11:53 Because you did an interview in English recently. Yeah. Well done. So I don't feel nervous or anxious. Yeah. Because we are so grateful that you are on and you're speaking in English. Can I ask you, what was your first, like, impression when you met Kat and you met Neve? What did you think of them straight away?
Starting point is 00:12:12 Wow. You thought, wow. Yeah. Oh, guys. Just well. Did you actually think wow is just that just an easy one-word answer? Well
Starting point is 00:12:25 In what way, Mike I explain Because I don't know I wanted to say to you like Cat but I couldn't say Cat Because not too close yet Yeah you weren't as close to her I said like
Starting point is 00:12:40 Katarina And then she said like You can say cat And then yeah I changed So she was like friendly I couldn't say When I first met Micah, I think it was like around January and she didn't really know how to speak English, like not like right now she's improved so much.
Starting point is 00:13:04 But back then, zero. And she had just had her shoulder surgery and we're like trying to figure out like, you know, just one of the physios was trying to figure out like how to help her rehab in Japanese. And I was like, you know what? I'm just going to try and teach her one word of English every single day or like, you know, every week. So then I would just like mess around with her. Like, I don't know, either let's see, what was one of the drugs? I remember that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:35 But not bad. Not bad. Not bad drugs. Like good drugs. I was just like joking around. I was like, oh, Micah. You mean that medicine. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:45 That's what we mean. Medicine. me it's like when you're injured and you take paracetamol yeah you mean like medicine drugs like the way the Americans would use it just to clarify the way the Americans would use I was rehabbing as well
Starting point is 00:13:59 so then I was like oh like obviously we like would see each other a lot and I was like oh Micah collagen like I would take a collagen shot every every morning and she goes what is that and I go drugs yeah it's like good drugs yeah go boh
Starting point is 00:14:15 podcast. I'm just like I'm going to get your bum. I would trade and we're like, yeah. Yeah. So that's like the things. I was like, okay, I was like a little bit of a crazy auntie too. The reader I was like, you know, like, you know, just like exposing her to different things. They're just like messing around.
Starting point is 00:14:31 I love it. The podcast is taking a very different turn this episode. But, um, yeah. So then I was also just thinking, you know, like how I had been in her shoes as well. Yeah, because you were in her shoes. when you went to America. Yeah, so then I also didn't know any English and I just remember like the people that had come to me in my time, you know, like when I really needed them were just like friends
Starting point is 00:14:55 that extended a hand in like just trying to show me, you know, just like help me, like help teach me how to speak English or literally just be there for just like to hang out, like even though I didn't know anything, you know, so one day, I just like took Micah to borrow market and then And I showed her, you know, I was like, ooh, vanilla latte from Starbucks. And it was like, she really liked that. And then we just, like, went and, like, had a little date, you know. So, like, before we're going to, back to my house to, like, watch the girls play against Real Madrid.
Starting point is 00:15:28 But, yeah, I was just like, it was just something that, you know, I could really see myself in her and, like, not knowing English. So I just wanted to be that person that could help her. Aw, that's lovely. Leave what have you done to help the two of them settle into, like, You did not do anything. If I could just say my part. Speak your mind, Kat.
Starting point is 00:15:47 Go on. I'm sorry. This is a safe space. Can I just say? And then I'll say my part, but please go ahead. If I could just say my first impression of Neve. Well, first of all, she spoke to me once. And I'll explain the situation.
Starting point is 00:16:01 She was like, hey, how's it going? How's the injury? And I go, sensitive topic, Neve. And then she never tried again. And I'm just like me. That's just like my humor, dry humor. No, no. That is so not true.
Starting point is 00:16:14 Hold on. To be fair. Stop. Like it is. Stop fighting. Stop fighting. Mom and dad, I don't want you to get a divorce. Hold on.
Starting point is 00:16:23 I'm soon all done. Lips moving. Still talking. Yeah. Soon all done. So then fast forward. Can I just say when Kat gets aggressive, the hand comes out. Yeah, of course.
Starting point is 00:16:33 She's Latino. Brazilian, bro. Anyways. Also, for the record, when we are fighting, we still love each other, but she does annoy me a lot. but yeah so then she didn't try again until we got to morocco like fast for like six months later and then it was only after i like made my comeback um that day because i was going to we were driving to lester and i was like trying to see like oh my god who would i sit with on the bus and then i
Starting point is 00:17:03 saw her and meli sitting kind of like towards the front and i was like these are two people that are like chill you know and like so then we started to talk a little bit i was like oh not bad um and then i saw like she was like really she almost cried like when i or she did cry when i like scored my first goal like made like my comeback i was like maybe she actually is a nice person she just doesn't talk so i actually got like a little bit of like a bad impression from neve i was like why you being so okay now my version of events is maybe i just say maybe she's a nice person she just doesn't talk and hopefully you know now that i'm a nice person but yeah Anyway, so we were in pre-season.
Starting point is 00:17:43 Cat was a new player, and me and Jesse were on, I'm going to paint a picture, we were in, I don't know, where we were in Portugal. And me and Jesse were out by the pool, lay on the sunbeds, and Kat comes past. And so they were chatting, and then I'm like, oh, hi, Kat. How are you? How is your knee? Like mutual thing, play football.
Starting point is 00:17:59 She's injured. Just ask her, you know, extending up. And she was like, sensitive topic. And I was like, oh, right, okay. And me and Jesse looked at each other. And I was like, right, okay. So she doesn't seem to want to talk. And I was like, all right, then.
Starting point is 00:18:10 Like, I won't, you know, that's, you've told me. And then we had, like, a few things in between. And I was like, well, you've told me you don't want to speak to me. So I tried. And then negative. Well, that is exactly what happens. And I have Jesse to corroborate with that. Okay.
Starting point is 00:18:25 But you were kind of joking. She was joking. She wasn't joking. You weren't joking. Okay. To be fair, obviously, you know, having been through the struggles of injuries and stuff, during the first six months, I was a little bit down bad. However, I was.
Starting point is 00:18:40 would expect it's like okay someone or at least like when if it was me on the other hand i would be like oh try again you know but maybe that's just pretty different i mean i did try cultures you know yeah so sitting on that bus rocky star what was your impression of cat then you were like oh go on uh what do like unrelatable and bougie and unrelatable and unrelatable and well yeah because i tried to relate to us i've been through some injuries i let's she didn't say that though she just she just went like first time ever talking she goes so how's the injury and i'm like i've never talked to you before you know you shouldn't shoot someone down like that's just a way to open up a conversation is this your daily life mica yeah like and then
Starting point is 00:19:28 can't say no we are we are fighting but still love each other yeah yeah to be very brazilian I know, right? It's like, that's all the short love, come on. Yeah, if I'm on the phone to my mom, my husband's like, did you just have an argument? I mean, no, no, we didn't. And he's like, are you sure? And I'm like, she's really annoyed me, but it's fine.
Starting point is 00:19:48 Yeah, it's okay. Just passionate. Yeah. Passion in it. So, anyway, we've come a long way from then. Yeah, so that bus journey mended the relationship. You sat on the bus together, and then it was all. Well, we started to talk a little bit before then,
Starting point is 00:20:02 but that's when I was like, oh, she's like really nice. Bear in mind, I'd been the exact same the entire time. Like, nothing changed or anything. Just consistent the whole way through. But you hang out a lot together outside of training. What do you guys do when you're hanging out together? And mainly at Kat's house then, I guess, if you're homeless. Do you live nearby?
Starting point is 00:20:24 Micah, do you live near Kat? I live here. You live here in the cottage? She wishes. The cottage is really nice. It is really nice. I was going to say me. I was going to say, why have you been homeless when you should have just been in the cottage?
Starting point is 00:20:42 I mean, yeah. But you guys hang out of cats. Mm-hmm. Yeah. And what do you do? Are you like card people, games people, TV watching people, movies, series? What do you guys do when you hang out together? Go on, Micah.
Starting point is 00:20:57 We ate cookie dough. And. I'm seeing my cat, Micah's the child. in the family. Spider? Spider? Tell the story. In her car.
Starting point is 00:21:10 Oh, yeah. This is a funny memory. Go on. But how do you explain? Explain the whole day, so the day of your birthday. Hmm, that was a good day. What did we do the whole day? We had barbecue.
Starting point is 00:21:24 Oh, nice. Here at the training ground. Yeah. Oh, one was cooking. Okay, I was cooking. Okay, I was like, who's cooking a barbecue? Okay, nice. And we went to go cart.
Starting point is 00:21:34 You went dough cart. Oh, cool. Were you good at go-karting? Yeah. I think sick on the brace. I mean, yes, I love that, Micah. Again, like helicopter parent, I would be driving, like, laughing, so would Micah. And Cat never once leaned in her car.
Starting point is 00:21:54 Like, going around the corners was just... Listen, I honestly, I was like, how are people speeding through these curts? That's so dangerous. Like, literally, like, the car's going to flip. I'm not doing this. I'm sorry. I read a fight for another day. She had an injury.
Starting point is 00:22:07 She was, she's a sensitive topic. I'm not going to be causing another injury in this car. I get you. I'm with you, cat. Yeah, there's some things are just not that deep.
Starting point is 00:22:15 But then carry on with the day. What did you do after that? And we ate tortilla. Oh, nice. Yeah. And then we, no, I ate ice cream.
Starting point is 00:22:25 Okay. From you, like mango and vanilla. Yeah. And then we find spider. in her car you found a spider in her car yeah how big we talking what kind of spider it was pretty big spider small spider a very small one oh it had thick legs yeah oh thick legs yeah oh thick legs what a thick legs is is starting to conjure up big vibes in my head thick legs on a spider
Starting point is 00:22:58 yeah so what happened to it disappear it stayed in the car hmm who knows but it's dirty Yeah. Meanwhile, both parents get out the car and we're like, Micah! Micah! I'm driving. We're all screaming. And then we're like, oh my God, what's going on? What do we do? And I'm like, the hair, oh, I mean, oh. Yeah, anyways, it was horrible. And we're, like, trying to, like, throw things at it. I just have the flashlight. Like, we get out of the car, and I'm like, I have the flashlight from, like, your guys. You know, when someone, like, directs from a distance, they just hit, cat is a meter outside the car. Flashlight, flashlight, the whole time. I was like, see the spider.
Starting point is 00:23:36 I was like, might as go. Deligate. I would delegate too. I'd be far away going. Have you, have you sorted that? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:23:42 Go in again. They were going too slow. So then I was like, literally, I'm just like, guys, just see the spider. So that was your birthday, and that was the day that you had the barbecue. Is that the day there was the food fight?
Starting point is 00:23:57 Yeah. Ah. Food fights. Yeah, remember? Ah, yeah. Who started that? I did. Yeah. Good fun now. Fun parent. Yeah, there you go. Fun parent. No, but also, I did tell Micah, I was like, Micah, it's your birthday, go and get Emma. Oh, yeah. You remember? Like with the cake, because I was like, no one's going to be mad at Micah. Come on. Micah's so cute. You know, did a great speech that day at the barbecue. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He did a really good speech from front of the team. That was so cute. I love Choosing. We love you too. Thank you. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:24:30 And me and you were in the back, like, recording. I was like, get it, get it, get it. Like the parents at a Christmas show. Like to me, Zoom it in. They're like, yes, so proud. We love you, darling. Literally like that. Literally like that.
Starting point is 00:24:48 So you're the troublemaker, basically. She's a troublemaker. Yeah. Yeah. If Micah says yes, then it has to be. But troublemaker slash fun parent. Yeah. I know.
Starting point is 00:24:58 Sometimes I always like, ugh. like kneeve like micha likes you more than me i'm like too i'm like too strict sometimes you know do you do you have a favorite parent no i can't say though oh she does she does she no because my favorite was yeah and then we ate cookie dough she's like quickly move on and then like at 10 at 10 clock at night yeah you ate cookie dough you've got such fun parents and then when i wake up like they did arm wrestling they were arm wrestling when you woke up yeah yeah i'm interesting parents or something my goodness was three o'clock or something three o'clock in the morning you arm wrestling each other no no two i think this was another day this was another day but we were having a
Starting point is 00:25:49 sleepover oh another day i don't know it's all blowing into one yeah okay i'm having a sleep over you're watching a movie. Maker falls asleep. Like her fall always falls asleep in the movie. What movie was it? White Jigs? Oh, fun. Culture.
Starting point is 00:26:04 And then at what? We're very intellectual people. And then at what point did you decide to arm wrestling and why? The thing could finish. Because everything's a competition. Right. I was also going to ask if there were any customs that you guys have introduced Neve to, but I don't know if arm wrestling is an American thing.
Starting point is 00:26:21 Is it an American thing? Oh, customs. Anything from Japan that you like that you've shown Neve? In Kat? And Kat, yeah. Don't forget about Kat, wow. I want to go to Japan with them. Oh, you want to take them to Japan?
Starting point is 00:26:40 That would be very cool. And Brazil. You know one thing you have shown us that you and Kat did in the garden? Oh, ice competition. Yeah. What competition? Ice cream competition. I'm sensitive.
Starting point is 00:26:53 a lot of ice cream and a lot of competition in this episode I'm really good at like ice cream eater I thought you were going to say like making ice cream
Starting point is 00:27:01 or something you're really good at eating ice cream yeah I can like really fast it's hot yeah
Starting point is 00:27:09 really fast I think yeah we're the champion how do you do I really like that that sound effect how do you eat it like
Starting point is 00:27:18 so they get two oh it just goes through me and they just bite this ice cream as quick as possible. And then when they breathe out, like, their breath is cold. Like, it's like brain freeze. Like, it's not an enjoyable experience. It was not enjoyable. But I was just like, okay, Maca's shirt. And it's literally hailing outside. It's literally hailing outside. It was hailing.
Starting point is 00:27:39 They're in the garden. Thunderstrucks playing on the background just to like set the scene. And we're like, okay, ready. One, two, three. And they're like, and they're like, whew. Yeah. This podcast is brought to you by Scoda, the official car partner of Chelsea women and proud supporters of women's sport. I took Neve to a Brazilian barbecue the other day. Did you? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:45 What was that experience like? I actually loved it. Did you? Were there lots of Brazilian people? yeah of course and they keep coming over with the different meats yeah see they'd say it in Brazilian and I look at cat and I'm like what is it she's like just take it I don't know how to explain it even explain it she said just take it the green and red card it's good isn't it the only problem is you can eat a lot more when you're sat down and then when you stand up you're
Starting point is 00:29:11 like whoa I ate a bit too much there see I'm I eat really quick so I can like really get through a lot before I'm like oh my god like I've eaten way too much so that's why the buffet is not good for me because it just keeps coming and coming and coming I love my god I've also given you your first driving lesson uh yeah what was that's like she was she was sitting on my lap she was sitting on my lap because I was like there's no way in a safe place not like on a public road like in a car park where you're allowed to yeah okay on private land great yeah yeah just for Privately. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:47 On private land. Not in a public. Great. And what was that like? Were you good? Yeah. You didn't use the pedals. No.
Starting point is 00:29:57 Okay. Maybe next time we'll stop. Okay. Great. That was easy. Yeah. She took her shoes off. Is it the other side of the road to Japan here?
Starting point is 00:30:07 Same. Oh, same. Japan drive like England on our side of the road. Because it's different for America, right? Yeah. Have you found that tricky, the transition? Definitely. Yeah. I mean, it's fine. You just follow where the cars are going. But my spatial awareness is a little bit questionable. Yeah, what about on the roundabouts though? Surely that's because you guys don't have roundabouts. You have stop signs. No, we have some roundabouts too, I think. Oh, do you? Okay. Yeah. I mean, I've seen some somewhere. I don't know. But yeah, the spatial awareness definitely needs some work. I would love to put cameras in a car and watch you teach Micah to drive. Oh, it was hilarious. It's so funny. Lots of screens.
Starting point is 00:30:46 me going around. Do you drive automatic? Mm-hmm. Yeah. Definitely. Otherwise, zero. Americans do,
Starting point is 00:30:55 it's big in America to drive automatic though, isn't it? Yeah. Yeah, why would you choose to do the other one? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:31:01 Because in England, we're just like, you might as well. My mom would always go, if there's an emergency and you need to take someone, you should know. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:09 So far, there's never been an emergency. And I think when there is, I'm not sure I'd be the designated driver that they'd pick. Wherever need to get in a getaway car, like, Why are you trying to get in a get-away carty in the first place?
Starting point is 00:31:19 Because she's the troublemaker. That's why. She's the fun pair of them. She's getting away from something. Is there anything that you guys miss from Brazil or America or from Japan that you wish you could have here? Maybe accept the weather. I mean, the food from Brazil is different, you know. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:35 So I'd say that. I really miss, yeah, really miss that. I'm a little good chihascoo, you know. Yeah. It's having family around. Surely food for you too, no? Yeah. yeah short and sweet yeah caroline yeah yeah yeah
Starting point is 00:31:50 i'm gonna give you a long pause and then i'm gonna go truly food too yep yep yep move on sweet that question's done yep food move on what i just happened then was how cat responded to my question that was the end of our relationship at the start that's some bore so you just felt how i felt no no okay no well i should know dry humor Well, I'm glad that you guys have rekindled because you're very entertaining as a friendship group. I can see why the fans love you so much. It's very interesting. I have to ask, Hannah mentioned when we spoke to her, that you're very good at maths and you're like some maths genius.
Starting point is 00:32:31 Oh, that is not true. What? I used to be smart in school, yeah, but I'm not a math genius. Okay, all right. Maybe I exaggerated on the genius, but she said you were very quick and really good at maths. I don't know where she's got that from, but like, are you about to ask me some maths questions? Okay, well then, yeah, I'm great at math. I don't know where she's got that from, but I mean, I was good at school.
Starting point is 00:32:52 Yeah, but maths isn't just school. Maths is very specific subject. Why do you like maths? Because it's the universal language of the world. Oh, God. Oh, my God, I was going to say that. That's like a mean girl's quote, isn't it? She's like, it's the same in every language.
Starting point is 00:33:04 That's gross. And someone's like, that's deep. It is. Yeah, it's actually true. We all learned that that's the one thing we all learn the same. All right. Maybe me and Micah a bit higher. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:33:20 Okay, you might be a little bit bug smart sometimes, but this one. That's why Micah has got a good level of everything. Michael looks very confused, but she's just going to nod because she's like, this is usually how it goes between us too. It's like me and Eva, like, and then Micah's like, stop fighting. Yeah, if they're too much, I can't say it. Yeah, you're good at that. Stop.
Starting point is 00:33:44 and then they stop oh do you stamp your foot sometimes yeah I mean genuinely the child in a semi-difunctional family is but it's all you know what
Starting point is 00:33:59 the key to success is show up and leave with love oh are you guys I can watch that that's that's all parenting
Starting point is 00:34:11 yeah they're like you know what it's okay as long as we show up lead with love we won't go too far one time we did have a conversation we're like are we like toxic we're like no i mean that was i'm not going to lie that was the word that sprung to mind when i saw that but are are we good for mic or we are we are we're fun yeah we're fun well the fans sent in some questions so do you want to hear them oh sure they first said okay this is a good one what's your favorite goal that you've scored ever ever yeah it can be ever uh under 12 walk
Starting point is 00:34:44 under 12 or 20 oh no under 20 under 20 World Cup against Brazil and I scored and then we won how was the goal like very good for you but
Starting point is 00:35:00 not yes for me it was just like oh a little chip oh a chip yeah you love a chip she does love a chip she does love a chip that's Michael's special time very good
Starting point is 00:35:09 what about you Kat what's your favourite golf and Neve get thinking because I'm going to come to you she doesn't have many that's for sure I remember your goal king's medal which goal
Starting point is 00:35:23 oh the one that I gave her the assist I remember that one too yeah yeah yeah against Bristol that's the first time you actually put the set piece where it was meant to go I'm sorry no we need to go like we need to do a little bit of recap yeah honestly I have the ball is like string to your head many times
Starting point is 00:35:38 she had like 10 set pieces the whole season and I was really relieved at least you put one in like at least you know Excuse me, I played like five games and I got nearly as many as this as you I still had more Okay, anyways I'm a defender I see what it's like for you Micah
Starting point is 00:35:56 I see what it's like they go you're at anything I know it's really bad okay so Bristol was yours What was your goal? Sorry, I didn't even decide that I mean that is true I kind of decided it because it was the one she assisted you on maybe Kat, tell me what your favourite goal that you scored was And then Neve you can be signed it for you.
Starting point is 00:36:17 No. Okay. My favorite goal for Chelsea so far has been definitely the one in which I scored like my first game for Chelsea. And that was like the comeback goal. That was like very. I also cried after that. Not going to lie. But yeah, that one was special.
Starting point is 00:36:33 Nice. That's a good goal. And Neve yours? Are you going to stick with Bristol? No. Mine was up at Man City. I think first or second year in. the Conti Cup semi-final because like that was just yeah I like the goal but also it was such a good
Starting point is 00:36:51 game for Chelsea like we came back and went into extra time and just yeah so I scored a banger so yeah it was just a great game nice second question from the fans is what is your best post-match meal pizza pizza after yeah post-match yeah any toppings um mushroom and ham And cheese. Even though I'm lactose intolerant, but... Okay. Puss match, so. Neve, what she was.
Starting point is 00:37:22 And cookido. Yeah, I'm cookie though, yeah. I love cereal. It's such a weird, like, it's the only thing I can eat after a game. Serial? So I started last year taking cereal on the bus after a game. I just love cereal.
Starting point is 00:37:35 I mean, sugary. Any since sugary. Okay. Actually, any cereal. I just love cereal. Okay. So are we talking like? And it hits every...
Starting point is 00:37:44 Every time. Rice Krispies. Frosties and Crave are my current favorite. Frosties and Crave. Crave. Is that the one that's like a little pocket with chocolate in? Okay. What about you, Micah?
Starting point is 00:37:59 Sushi? Hmm. Or I want to eat ice cream, but I can't eat this year. You can't eat ice cream this year? I can't. Why can't you? I can't. Have they told you you're not allowed to?
Starting point is 00:38:18 What's happening here? Blink twice if you're in trouble. Blink if you need to help, Micah. Blink twice if you need to help. What's happening in here? These two holding you hostage telling you what you can and can't eat. We tried to do something and then we did, I don't know how they said it. Pinky promise.
Starting point is 00:38:39 Pinky promise. Yeah. That you're not going to eat ice cream. Unless... With the family. You're not going to eat ice cream unless you're all together. We're trying to be good or whatever this year. Oh, healthier.
Starting point is 00:38:53 About certain things. Okay. Okay. And basically started with me and me of saying, like, different stuff. Because we were living together. So we were trying to be like, okay, we need to have good habits. Okay. You're contextualizing this for me.
Starting point is 00:39:10 Yeah. I thought you were holding my car hostage. No. I'm not letting her eat stuff But on camp she did text as well on the international break Please can I have ice cream with my best friend before I leave And we had totally forgotten about it We're like oh
Starting point is 00:39:26 No no no no Wow No we haven't honestly No we have it yeah it sticks to the rules She's like what I've been depriving myself The Ice Cream world champion of ice cream And you guys have forgotten But you did win that
Starting point is 00:39:44 You did that competition on camp and won that, didn't you? Yeah, I won. She did that with a friend on camp. You guys are so competitive. It's really quite jokes. Hey, Micah, guess what? Next time you cook for us, then we can have ice cream. Yeah, that's an incentive.
Starting point is 00:39:56 Take you promise. One of my questions earlier was going to be if you guys have, like, a friendship handshake. I feel like you should have one. I guess we should. Can you make one for me and then put it on, like, TikTok or something so I can look at it? We play ninja a lot. That's kind of like our, you know, the ninja game. That's what I was going to.
Starting point is 00:40:14 ask, what is that game? That's one, also one of the fan questions. What is that game? Oh, it's so fun. What is this ninja game? It looked so strange. I was like trying to decide the rules and I was like, what is that? Basically, the aim of the game is to have to hit each other's hands. Okay. So if I hit Cat on Micah's hand, they lose it. So the one that has a hand remain in wins. But you can only do like one move and then you have to hold it there and then oh. There's like, you go around in a circle. Okay. And then you walk from there, you try and hit the other person's hand yeah i see whoever yeah yeah but obviously neve here had's had a little shoulder incident so we were trying to be nice yeah okay even though i think
Starting point is 00:40:58 oh let's try it out yeah can't wait so good way to let out let us some frustration yeah really is whoops sorry miss okay another question is have you got any pregame routines or superstitions you know how some people they like have to step on the pitch routine yeah with like Lucy what did you do before the game oh do you know I don't know how this is it like Conquer Conquer yeah Conquer when I kissed up Conquer yeah I score oh yeah wait what's a conca it's like a little brown like squirrel love squirrels get it oh okay like a little Yeah, it looks like it kind of, yeah, it's similar to that, isn't it? I don't you actually know what a conker is now that I'm thinking about it.
Starting point is 00:41:50 Yeah, but it falls off a treat and the squirrels and they are brown and they have a little thing. Oh, so before every game, you kiss a conker. Any conker or the same conker? Same. Oh. And you've scored every time? Yeah. I didn't last game.
Starting point is 00:42:08 Did you kiss it last game? No, I didn't. Oh, there's go. Make sure you do it this week then. Yeah. Yeah. Do you guys have any superstitions or routines? I'm quite a superstitious person.
Starting point is 00:42:19 Are you? Well, I'm not really superstitious, but like I just think, like, before the game, it's nice to have little routines with people. Like, it's just fun. And can you tell me what they are or are you superstitious about telling me? No. Well, it's just a bit weird. But, like, me and Sam always used to, like, we could have your 20, 20 and 21.
Starting point is 00:42:36 We always sit next to each other. So we'd, like, say the same thing at the same time before every game. And, like, sometimes if one of us forgets, the other person's like, what? like what you're doing like we'd literally look at each other like excuse me say and then with one of the old assistant coaches and still now like we have like caffeine gun before the game and then me and milly would take it out at the same point give it to the coach so weird things like that but it really doesn't matter that's why it's just weird to discuss yeah but it does matter as a fan we're like oh my god this is so interesting yeah well if you see me before a game i'll
Starting point is 00:43:07 always take it out at the same point ah do you think guru getting in for the photo is one of her superstition things well kind of and like I do notice it as well because I always stand I always stand in the same place as well so I kind of like go off guru and then I wait also and I just look at guru like have you got any superstitious or routines I always have a mushroom ham omelette back to food like pregame you just call this we are Chelsea food for a pregame meal always. Hammer mushroom omelet and then ham and mushroom pizza.
Starting point is 00:43:48 Those are literally my favorite ingredients. I could like live off of that. I can't need eggs, mushroom and ham. And avocado. I mean, you've got proteins, fats and veg in there. Right? That's what I'm saying. So maybe it is fun.
Starting point is 00:44:00 Yeah. Yeah. One more question. Would you rather win the Champions League or the World Cup? Option C both. I think I know what you're going to say. Oh, yeah. both
Starting point is 00:44:16 you'd rather win both okay but if you had to pick one okay but if you had to pick one yeah come on strict parent yeah but if you had to pick one option C both and what about you camp well
Starting point is 00:44:32 I knew she was gonna say this I just wanted to annoy I already won one so told me for your goal it was the worst goal in my life 2022 championship league final still score though to be fair goal is a goal incredible my life it's incredible but regardless i mean i'd say world cup next one will be in brazil so that'll be like full circle yeah but also world cup only happens like once every four years well champions like if you don't win once like one year then
Starting point is 00:45:07 you have the chance that the following one so okay we have to wrap because you guys have to go this was so fun you guys are great I mean slightly dysfunctional but also really great I love family FC we promise that you'll come back on
Starting point is 00:45:23 have five good shoulder good shoulder thank you so much bye guys thank you exit out with a little ninja yeah
Starting point is 00:45:32 put your mics down and do the ninja game or arm wrestling just kidding I win thank you for listening to We Are Chelsea at the official podcast of Chelsea women
Starting point is 00:45:42 brought to you in association with Skoda, the official car partner of Chelsea women and proud supporters of women's sport. See you next time.
