Welcome back to We Are Chelsea, the official podcast of Chelsea Women,
brought to you in association with Scudder,
the official car partner for Chelsea women and proud supporters of women's sport.
I'm Anne Warbank, and today I'm joined by two very special guests,
two young Chelsea players with really exciting journeys ahead of them,
so I'm really looking forward to having a chat with them.
This is We Are Chelsea with Chloe Sarwey and Brooke Aspen.
Well, it's great to have you both here.
Thank you for joining us.
Thank you for having us.
First time on the podcast, how are you both doing?
Good, I think.
Yeah, I know how, actually.
I'm enjoying the sunshine anyway.
Yeah.
Oh, isn't it?
Love playing.
So nice.
We've got lots to talk about
because we've not had you guys on before.
And we're going to have a lovely little get to know you today.
Chloe, I've got to start with you and say congratulations on winning the under 23s European Championship.
How was that?
Yeah, it was crazy.
I didn't even expect to be playing as much as I did.
So, yeah, obviously grateful for that.
And, yeah, the team works hard.
and yeah we got the results we wanted to get and yeah we won.
Because you're 17?
Yeah.
Yeah.
I was working on a checkout at 17 and you're representing.
What checkout?
What checkout?
Tesco.
Oh, okay, nice.
What, is the checkout being for you?
You have a club card?
Yeah.
Yeah, solid.
Yeah.
I love my club card points.
I use them so I can go to Bella, Italian.
Yeah, nice.
I get old and towers tickets for them sometimes.
Okay, yeah.
Lovely time.
What did it mean to you personally to be playing for your country at that age?
Yeah, it's surreal.
I mean, just everything that I've succeeded this year,
it's been crazy and to be playing up to six years older.
It's mental, like the oldest person in the group is 23,
which is like six years older.
I hope you've got some club card points so you can treat yourself for the celebrating.
You've got a player at the match in the final team.
that must have been so special.
Yeah, it was great.
I mean, obviously I just tried to give my wonder pitch
and I'm glad people recognise that
and, yeah, to get play out and match it, so it's great.
Do you have a lot of family and friends watching?
Yeah, from home, yeah, they were all watching on YouTube.
I bet they were proper buzzing as well.
Blowing up my phone afterwards.
I'm crazy, yeah.
Do not disturb having to go on?
Yeah.
You've also really stepped into the first team this season at Chelsea.
How's that step up felt?
you? Yeah, it's a massive step up and yeah, obviously just trying to adapt to that. It's still
challenging nowadays but yeah, managing, I mean the goals are nice and welcoming so that step up was
not as hard as I expected because of them so yeah, grateful for that. What's changed most for you
in terms of adapting to senior football? The speed of play that your decision makings have to be like
ten times quicker and you have to keep that quality up with it. Yeah, it's just a lot.
compared to Academy Football.
I can imagine.
Yeah.
How did it feel signing your first professional contract?
Yeah, it was great.
A lovely moment to spread with the family.
That came over as well to kind of be in that room with them.
Yeah, it was great.
Are your family all big football fans?
Yeah, massive football fans.
As well as being an absolute superstar on the pitch,
you're balancing quite a lot off the pitch as well.
You're studying engineering?
Yeah, I just thought of that conversation.
Can I just say, right, we have the gates at the front
And I reversed back and she went, oh, it's fine
Because they'll go that way because of the way the hinges are
I was like, come on, really
Come on
Have a day off
Yeah, literally, literally
Shouldn't you have a Tamagotchi or something at your age?
No, doing engineering and study in which way the hinges are going on the day
I thought God, you've got better things we're doing, surely
How do you manage that?
playing for a team like Chelsea, when do you have time?
To be fair, not as much time as, like, you'd think.
I think, like, the only day off was, is normally Fridays,
and that's when I'd go into school.
But I'd try to do most of it from home.
Otherwise, I'd be sleeping.
But, yeah, it's very crazy to manage.
Kind of focusing on the maths side of it right now.
So, yeah, I've got a test coming up soon,
so just revise and for that.
Sleep must be a rarity for you.
when'd you do that?
Brooke, you obviously studied,
did you have to balance that as well
while you were doing football?
Did you start really young as well, didn't you?
Yeah, I was at, well, I started playing
for Bristol first team at 16,
and I mean, I'd lie if I said
I'd put all my thoughts into education
because I didn't, I'm not much for an education person.
So I kind of...
Hello, you're looking at a different concert.
I kind of slid my way through education
and kind of...
lucky enough to have a good tutor at college and kind of just let me go through it
about 10% of the attendance so I mean I managed to make way through it so but yeah it was
it was fine you must get a certain amount of leeway playing at the standard that you're playing
at people must look at you and be like oh do you know what actually they're doing a really good
job and they're kicking a ball like there must be a level of leniency is that or do
do people look at you and go no actually you need to be i don't i don't even know if people look at the
education side and think that they're balancing that.
I mean, I certainly wouldn't.
I certainly look at a player and go, God, they're a baller,
but I never think that they're a balancing education as well, you know.
Whereas Chloe over is balancing engineering, education, football.
It's a lot.
Like, everything.
So like...
She'll be running a non-profit, man.
Yeah, she will be next day.
She'll be on DIYSOS soon, but you get it on here.
She'll be on next season of the service.
The trainers are studying at the same time.
So you've been in recovery at the moment, Brooke.
How has that been going for you?
I mean, there's been a long, long road.
15 months I took me to get back
and I'm finally back on the pitch, contact.
Come on, finally.
But yeah, it's such a long process
and I would hate anyone to go through it
because it's just so long.
And even days like today, if you're in the gym
and it's such a nice day,
you're so eager to get out there
and just kick a ball.
But, I mean, once you get out there,
it's kind of like you've done something,
you've achieved something and I think
it kind of takes your step away from football
and you kind of realise a bigger picture of life
and you have a bit more of a perspective
and of seeing your family a bit more
and doing things for you
and I think it makes you value life a little bit more
so as the bad times come
there's also good times ahead of it so it's okay
what's your day to day been looking like at the moment
my day today or like previously
give me I'll give you weekly
Give me the day in the life.
All right, I'll fill it.
Give us the block.
So I'll get in about nine breakfast, scrambled egg, no usual, that kind of thing.
And then I would start rehab.
This was like when I wasn't on the pitch, I started rehab from like 10.
And then I wouldn't finish to like two, half two.
But that's like fully knee rehab.
And then gym as well, a bit of conditioning, a bit of high rocks, you know.
A little bit of there, a bit of ropes, a bit skier, that kind of vibe.
And then, yeah.
Well, if I'd like you drop it so casually.
Done for the day.
today. I'm struggling opening a bottle of water.
I'm like, yeah, I'm not. And then today, if I was on the pitch, so I did get in at nine
today and then was on the pitch, I had prehab at 9.30 on the pitch for 10 and then an hour
and a half session. And then gym after that, some deep squats, RDL, that kind of vibe.
Lunch and then here we are. Here we are. Podcast superstar. How important is it for you to
still be around the team during the recovery period?
Oh, it's so important.
I don't think anyone realizes it
until someone's been through an injury, how lonely it can be.
And I think you actually grow a relationship
with the physios more than you do the team,
but the team have been brilliant.
And I think it's actually nice,
it's not nice at the same time, but it is for when people
are in rehab as well.
I've got a good friendship with Nat because she's in rehab
and you get to know them a little bit more
because once players are outside on the pitch,
it's difficult because our times are a bit different.
but the team always supportive
is difficult for anyone going through an injury.
So I think it's just nice to,
that they've had my back, so it's fine.
Yeah, it's nice to hear that the whole Chelsea machine
sort of supportive of your injury recovery.
For the fans that maybe don't know as much about the two of you yet,
Brooke, talk us through your journey so far from Bristol to Chelsea.
Okay, so I originally,
went from Bristol under 14s
and I was played from under 15s for two years
and then Lauren Smith came along when I was 16 and signed me up for the first
team. Didn't really know where I was going to go after that. Ended up playing
there for I think it was two seasons and then we got promoted.
Unfortunately I had a bit of a setback being ill and then
we ended up getting promoted which was probably one of the best days in my life actually
And then I saw my professional contract here,
went back on loan to Bristol,
and then came back, went back on loan to Palace for six months,
and then did my ASA and I'm here today.
It's just proved that Chelsea is the place to be.
Yeah, exactly.
You said you made your professional debut at 16.
Was football always the plan for you growing up?
Yeah, 100%.
I think I've always been, like I said, education.
I've never really thought about it,
which is probably the wrong thing to do,
but I've always driven.
It doesn't suit some people.
I know.
The traditional education model doesn't suit.
And that is why things like sport and arts are so important
because it gives kids another avenue to get around
if they're not necessarily the most academic-related.
And the fact that you found football
and you've done so well at football
is such an amazing shining life.
There's so many kids that are in the same position.
Yeah.
I think I'm lucky to have football in that way
because I didn't really give my all to education
as much as I should have.
but yeah, I was lucky enough to make my debut at 16
and I kind of took it off from there,
but yeah, it was a good time.
And Chloe, you also made your debut at 16.
What's the pressure, like, of stepping into first team football so young
or is it just like pure excitement?
Initially, it was very scary.
Like, it was awful.
Like, just trying to socialise with them,
it's like, what do I say?
How would I approach them kind of thing?
but like when you're on the pitch of them
they're nice to talk to
you're able to just
communicate with them freely
and yeah just being able to have that support
on the pitch is very beneficial for
like match days for example
when I made my debut in the Champions League
like coming onto the pitch everyone was like applauding me
and I like I really appreciated that
and yeah just to hear them
like commenting on little things I do
like a good pass or something like it's great
and it gives me that confidence boost that I need
that must be so intimidating going into a team as a 16 year old of like grown adults
yeah hey how do you even approach that honestly like I would just wait for them to go up to me
then I'd be like I play well to get with the football yeah that happened for a while but then like obviously
when I got to know them a bit more like I'm able to go and say hi how are you like little things like that
Is there anybody that's been really instrumental in helping you settle into the team at either of you?
Yeah, definitely, maybe.
Like, when I first came in, like, she was obviously Captain duties.
Like, she was, like, there because I think it was, like,
where I first came into the first team, like, training-wise last season, like, towards the end.
And, yeah, she was there, like, when others went on, like, international break and stuff.
And so she was very welcoming.
And yeah, from then it was just like she took me under her arm
and just like guided me through.
And I think like other players just like once I was there
and that set up, like they all just started coming to me
and kind of helped for me then.
Yeah, it was great.
So lovely.
Is it nice having other young players in the squad
because obviously you guys are very young?
I'm sat in trying to move me face so I don't bring it.
And you two are like, oh, first.
Is it nice being around other people that have either been in a similar situation or similar age?
Yeah, it's so nice.
I think you can kind of relate to them a little bit more as well.
As the likes of Millie and Lucy, they've done the pathway, they've been there,
and they've kind of created that for us.
And I think it's nice that we kind of have that connection now to kind of build that on
and maybe kind of take that into our hands a little bit and see what they've done.
And now hopefully we can do the same.
Do you feel like that you can relate to each other in different ways,
like across the age gap,
because you've got obviously the girls that have taken you through it
and done that pathway,
and then you've got the girls that are a similar age and at a similar stage.
Is it nice to have, to be able to reflect on the different parts of the journey there?
I mean, I definitely think it is, I think it's really positive for us
and the likes of Millie now.
I think she's such a big character,
and she's such a big person for Chelsea,
but also women's football now.
the stuff that she's done is so inspirational for like me and clow and even watching what
she's been doing and how she's done it and the trophies that she's won is like incredible and
I think that's really good for us to now build on and actually see that we can go and do the
same yeah you guys are going to be a part of the next step yeah so legacy so and that's so
incredible um is there anybody in the team that you've looked up to since being here obviously
you've mentioned milly have mentioned lucy are they were they big football icons for you both
Millie definitely was.
I actually had a picture with Millie at Yovall Town
when I was really young.
Oh no, this is so true.
I love them.
I haven't actually shown her,
and I'm really annoyed that I haven't shown her,
but my nan sent it to me literally the other day,
and I was like, look at this photo.
I was like, oh my God, I haven't shown her this.
But I think me and Millie's playing the same style of play,
and I think she's just been a massive inspiration for me
in the way that she is on the pitch,
and even off the pitch as well,
she's such a big character and like, like Chloe said, helps people come into a new environment.
And I think that's something that I really want to bring to people and help it once I'm a little bit older,
bring them into an environment, make sure they feel comfortable with it.
Yeah, there's such a lovely energy in the team and everybody's always looking at for it.
Is there anybody that you looked up to in particular, Chloe?
I think, like, obviously, all of them, because they're all, like, most of them are way older than I am.
So obviously to look up to all of them is in, like, individually.
I'm sure they're all going to love hearing that.
I am.
Yeah.
Like, I mean, like, they're all, like, world-class players
and, like, seeing them train every day, it's mesmerising.
And I think just being part of that, now it's incredible.
And, like, I also have a picture of Billy.
But, like, after a football match, taking a picture of Millianers
and also walking out with a few in them.
So, yeah.
That's cute.
Yeah, it's great.
Oh, so this is a really full circle.
Yeah.
So wholesome.
And you know what, in five, ten years' time,
somebody's going to be saying the same thing about you.
It's so lovely.
Is there been any players or coaches
that have helped your developments since starting at Chelsea?
Lauren Smith's been a massive coach for me.
And I probably have never told her how much of a support network
she was for me,
but she was the person that gave me my first WSTO appearance,
and she took me to where I am now and built me up as a player,
so I couldn't appreciate it more for that.
really but also the England staff they've been amazing and I think each coach offers something
different and that's what build you to the player that you are but don't get me wrong with the
Chelsea staff are amazing they're here for a reason aren't they so like even the physios everyone off
off the pitch as well as it's such a unit and I think you need that in a club that to build that kind
of foundation but yeah that really shines as well every player that we've had been lucky to have on
the podcast talks about how Chelsea is so much of a family and everybody is so involved and
everybody knows each other's names. Getting away from football a little bit and getting in the
interest of getting to know you both. What do you both get up to on a day off? What's your ideal
day off look like? I love this question. Go on. You go fast, mate. Well, my day off,
I go to school. So, yeah, nothing much. Just, you.
full day of school, catching up with work, and then obviously going him and doing the rest of the work there.
I can't imagine having to balance that. I'm exhausted thinking about it. Yeah, me too, actually.
What are you getting up to on your day off? I'm a massive coffee fan. Oh, yeah? Yeah, big coffee fan.
This comes up so much on the podcast. Big coffee fan. I'm a big gym fan. Oh, well, I actually like it. Yeah.
Oh, my gosh. So I'm like, I'll go for a coffee.
I'd love this to me. Flat white, you know, typical flat white. And then I'll go to
to do uppers, I love
an uppers session in a gym. That's my go-to.
If you don't know where I am, I'm probably there.
I'm trying to get inspired because I live next door to the gym
and I walk past it.
I'm going to get coached.
I actually, I'm so envious of people that enjoy going to the gym.
That's typical day off. Coffee, gym.
Yeah, coffee, gym, chill.
Don't know, really.
It depends if I'm at home or if I'm here.
If I'm at home, like take the dog out.
Talk to me about the dog.
Oh, the cutest little thing ever.
Big topic on the podcast.
Yeah.
What breed of dog, what name?
Cog Spaniel, Lila.
Amazing.
Yeah.
How old is Lila?
Like a year and a half.
Oh my gosh.
Yeah, I need to get you a photo.
Baby.
Unbelievable.
She's a nutcase, though.
Absolutely nutcase.
All the best ones are.
Just so energetic all the time.
Non-stop.
Non-stop.
But then she's also like so close to the face.
They're so like,
oh, so it's like touchy and lovable.
and they're like literally I'm turning around and she's just right there.
Yeah, they've got no concept of person basically.
No, absolutely nothing.
Absolutely not.
No.
Absolutely not.
What about, Chloe, are you, we've established we like coffee over here,
are you a coffee drinker, are you a matcher drinker, tea drinker?
She's like the most fussyest person you'll ever meet.
Oh, are you a chicken nuggets and garlic bread?
Yeah, literally one of them.
I love that.
Yeah, had garlic bread over there.
Yeah.
Cheesy garlic red.
Yes, today.
You're making fun of me.
No, I like it.
I like it.
So what's your drink a choice then if we're not going for coffee?
Just juice, apple juice.
Oh, shock.
And apple juice is a solid choice, though.
Solid, ranked highly on the juice.
Are you both big on TikTok?
Oh, TikTok.
Are you a big scroller?
Are you a big poster?
Definitely not a poster, I tell you that for free.
You should be?
Oh, really?
Have you seen my moves?
I'm so stiff.
Real bad.
You're not dancing on night
No, no, no, no.
You can't see me getting any views on that.
No chance.
Are you big on scrolling, doom scrolling?
I will scroll.
Yeah.
But I'm not like a, you know, I'm sat there for hours scrolling.
What side of TikTok are you on?
Talk us through for you page.
Oh, wow.
You know, like, um, beach.
Just beach?
Football.
What?
A couple of quotes.
For some reason, I've got like, you know, a bit of a wet side of TikTok.
Oh, have you?
Yeah.
That's a fudge.
What's on TikTok in you all, then?
I've never seen that on a TikTok before.
Really?
No, honestly, mine's probably on.
Maybe you should exchange feeds.
Mine's like dances and football and stuff like that.
Are you a dancer?
Uh-huh.
Are you?
Yeah.
That's so exciting.
Take the floor.
Bust a move.
Yeah, because I used to do ballet when I was young guys.
Yeah, I've heard about this.
Yeah, so it was always stuck with me.
So if you'd have not gone down the football path,
would you have gone down the dance path?
100%.
Really?
What were you dancing?
What dance styles were going on?
Because I've heard whispers of ballet.
Mm-hmm.
Yeah, so I used to do ballet a bit of tap,
a bit of...
I really wanted to do hip-hop,
but my mum was like, no.
Yeah, I wanted to do a bit of gymnastics.
to but she said no to that so yeah just a ballet tip-tap yeah so might we have seen an alternate
timeline where you were a ballerina yeah i love this yeah i absolutely love this
were we were we were we yeah oh we were really good i was really good yeah yeah we were
yeah yeah i was locked in yeah call out for the podcast we all want to see clory dance
gosh no i've heard a small really
a dancer or not that you, it took you a while
to figure out the chair challenge in Portugal.
Yeah.
Oh, there was a real look of defeat there.
Well, I missed.
No, because I didn't understand what there was there at first.
I was like, how was this possible?
But then I realized that they didn't mention
the fact that you could move the chair.
So I was like, oh, can I move to a chair?
And I was like, great.
Like, I've just made a fool of myself.
And so sometimes when things seem too simple
though you do ask questions, don't you?
Yeah, I'm thinking too much.
It's a curse of being intelligent.
It is.
And you're obviously intelligent as you are,
engineering student, ballet prodigy,
football extraordinary.
Deering me.
So your mum was quite keen on you doing ballet then.
Yeah.
To what point?
How serious did this get?
Well, like I was performing on stage and stuff.
Like doing performances every year at Her Majesty's Theatre.
Wow.
Casual?
Steady on.
Ready on.
Yeah, competitions there.
Yeah, and I was always, I would carry this blue suitcase with me everywhere.
And, yeah, it was great performing on stage in front of people.
Now, I reckon, not as scary as far as.
football but yeah it was up there quite scary do you think maybe sort of fighting some of the nerves
there has helped with football 100% yeah I think like like at points like you use like certain
breathing techniques and I think that helps really well um yeah I started doing a bit of that
like during ballet and I think just carrying that on yeah it's been really helpful yeah because even
beyond like the strength and the flexibility needed for ballet that's all really transferable to football
as well. Yeah. I was doing part of the warm-up is to do kicks and so like I can kick really high.
And your legs are peat. Yeah. And so like every time I do it they're like, oh go and Chloe do it again.
I was like, no, I can't. Prima. Brooke, what would we have seen you doing if you weren't doing football?
Oh, wow.
Philosophical on the podcast today.
P.T.
Should have been in the gym.
Yeah.
Should have been doing up and should have been doing that.
No, I'm, I really like coaching.
I want to take, I want to take after football.
So my uncle's got Down syndrome and I want to coach Down syndrome people when I finish football.
And like, because I feel like they need that, they need that bit of them for someone to support them doing what they enjoy.
That's so lovely.
It's like, because you don't hear a lot of young footballers talking about what they want to do outside of football.
Because whether you like it or not, it's, it can be a really limited.
in career age-wise, fitness-wise, things like that.
So the fact that you're already quite clear about what you're going to do after that.
I think it's something that's so personal as well.
That's really lovely.
I think I can see on his face how much he loves football.
Yeah.
And he's such a big Man United fan and all he does is...
Oh, another one.
I know. All he does.
What is it with the families and the betrayal?
Literally.
All he does is sit upstairs and go on his transfer windows
and we're literally in the middle of the season.
I'm like, Dan, you've still got a whole six months yet.
They're not going to announce the transfers.
but like yeah he loves it and you can say how much like he smiles during a day and he makes people smile
and I think that's actually nice for me to see as well and if I can get everyone to kind of do something that
they enjoy then it would be nice to see. Has he been able to see you play much? Yeah he loves it.
He absolutely loves it, got every t-shirt so far. Yeah, he's such a big fan. Yeah, he's such a hero.
No, he loves it. No, because you both very close to your families. Talk to us about your family.
how important have they been in your football journey?
Massive.
Like, I don't think I tell them enough
how much my family means to me.
Such a close unit as well.
Like, we literally live within my nan and granddad
and my other set of grandparents
literally live two minutes away from each other.
So it's just such a nice unit.
Oh, that makes Christmas really?
Oh, it's unbelievable, I know.
But then it's like, if I'm going to one nan and granddad,
the other one's like, oh, really?
You should come to mine.
I'm like, oh, I'm not sure.
But, no, it's been.
amazing. I think with my brother as well, he plays football, he's a goalie. But my granddad
and my dad and my uncle, they've all grown up playing football. So it's just such a big
sport and family. And we all love it. And I think we'll get behind each other. And I think it shows
when someone makes an achievement how much it means for every single person. So I think that's
also a drive for me to get back onto the pitch because all they'd want to do is watch play football.
And I think as soon as I do that, it would be so nice to see them, like watching it again.
It'd be nice to see them enjoying that again.
What about you, Claire?
Talk to us about your family unit.
Yeah, I mean, like, they love watching me play.
And, like, every game that comes off, they're just like,
is she going to play?
Is you playing?
And I was like, well, no, I'm on the bench, but never know.
And, like, they'll be watching the game throughout, like, always watching,
always have eyes on the game, just waiting for me to come on.
And just, like, having their support back home.
It's incredible.
And just having them nearby as well, because, like, other, like, people live in digs,
and it's hard for them to see family.
So, like, just living.
close to them and also live with my mum
is incredibly helpful.
Her driving me up and down.
Yeah.
Her taxi.
Stay go.
Yeah. Well, I'm taking Drey now, but
like last year she was driving me
everywhere. Matches could be
like four hours away
and she still didn't hate me and it's crazy.
We love a supportive family.

We're going to play a little bit of a game now.
Are you ready?
Go on them.
We're going to play a game called Key.
or delete and we want to find out what parts of football that you love and which parts of football
not so much and then we've got some questions for you with from the fans so I'm going to give you
one you give me whether you want to keep it or delete it are you ready yeah let's go ice baths
keep delete oh polarising oh why we keep okay wait it depends how cold it is oh no because like
if it's like freezing freezing like I don't want to be but isn't that the whole point of ice
But like, good from you.
No, because, like, some ice baths don't have ice in it.
And it's just, like, quite cold, but it's not like...
Is that not just a really nath?
Yeah, like a really cold bath.
Like, it's not, it doesn't have ice in it.
But, like, if it's, like, a proper ice bath of, like,
no, I can't do that.
Yeah, delete that.
And we've got to delete it over here.
Yeah.
Cool.
I love that.
Believe it in.
Oh, I already know what the answer to this one's going to be for gym sessions.
Oh, yeah, coop.
No.
I hate gym.
Really?
No.
Not gym girl?
No, no way.
Firmly on your side of the set at the year.
Nah, that's...
Nah.
Can't stand it.
Why don't you like that?
I don't like the gym because I'm lazy.
Why don't you like the gym?
A bit of that too.
We've got so many time.
I don't know.
I think, like, at times I just, like,
can't people to do gym.
But, like, it's a bit of gym.
It's not like it's terrible.
Like some parts of gym are fine,
but like certain exercises is a bit annoying.
Yeah.
And you have to do that.
You mentioned RDLs earlier.
The idea of doing an RDRs today.
No, thank you.
What, really?
No.
I don't mind RDILs.
I mean, a couple of squats.
I'm not going to yuck you yum,
but like, not for me.
Leg extensions.
You strike me as a leg extension, so, yeah.
I don't think anybody's ever said that to me.
This is a really secular.
experience.
How do you feel about early kickoff?
No.
Early kickoff.
Early kickoff.
I don't mind.
It depends on the time.
No.
Because really?
You've got so much time out to the game then.
Okay, but like it depends how early.
Like, I don't like a 12 o'clock kickoff,
but if it's like one, two, then I swear.
Twelve o'clock kickoff does feel really early.
Yeah, it is.
Your day starts a lot before that as well.
Yeah, it does.
Yeah, that's true.
So that's, and 12 o'clock might not sound early.
but that's it.
That is, no, it is.
That's early.
Especially when it's away.
What about evening games?
Keep.
Keep.
But just waiting until that moment, it's so long.
Yeah, fairs.
Totally agree with that.
Yeah.
I think the energy is really different at an evening game, isn't it?
From a fan perspective, I can't talk about the pitch.
Me on the pitch is not something anybody ever needs to see.
But from a fan perspective, it's when you've been waiting all day,
like some people have been at work on day
and that's like the pinnacle of their day
is going to that game
the energy is so good
and it's so much fun
and I'm like on a weekend as well
I've been in the pub before and
so when that evening game
you've had a couple
you've got a nice buzz going
you're walking in you're going to watch your favourite team
it's so much fun
and you guys must get so much from that as well
yeah I mean under the lights
is even better as well isn't it
just makes a buzz
so it's a keep on an evening game
but what about no music before games
keep or delete
delete.
What is on your pre-game playlist?
Talk me through.
Give me the track list.
Country?
Oh my gosh.
Okay.
Are we listening to?
Guess not?
I'm a massive country fan.
Talk me through.
Like, what am I talking?
Give it, who's your artist?
What songs are you going for?
Luke, Morgan Wallen, like all of that vibe, you know?
Put them on.
That feels like a rogue pick for before a football match.
Yeah, I know.
But if you like the song, you're going to,
pumped to it, aren't you?
Yeah.
Do you know what I mean?
Yeah.
Doesn't have to be a slow winder.
It can be like a really good country song.
No, I get that because a bit of Cascada every time we touch.
Yeah.
Not country, but I get it.
Do I mean?
You can get involved if you want to.
You can't.
What about you, Chloe?
What's on your pregame playlist?
Who's on there?
Drake, Rihanna.
Who is on there?
A bit of garage, so like...
A bit of garage?
Yeah.
Not heard of that before.
Really?
Maybe it's my era.
You were expecting a car to come out of them?
Maybe it's just me.
Yeah.
Garage?
I've not heard of garage before.
Give me, give me a go.
Go on, sing it.
No.
No way.
Yeah.
Craig David's garage.
Oh, right, okay.
Yeah, a bit of Craig David.
You just said Craig David, couldn't you, mate?
Well, I don't know that.
Okay.
I think, I think Clos is a bit young for Craig David.
Oh, really?
What about Jason Derulo?
Is he a garage?
Jason Terulo.
I wouldn't say Jason Terulo's garage.
Okay.
I don't think I'm the authority on garage music.
My playlist at the moment is primarily Justin Bieber, so I wouldn't...
J.B., he's flying at the moment, isn't he?
I've just seen him at Cotella.
You went?
I did.
I was there when he was showing videos on his laptop.
You weren't at the front, weren't you?
I didn't know.
I wasn't at the front.
Watching him on YouTube.
No.
Watching him watch videos of himself walking into a revolving door.
I wasn't at the front.
for that. Did I lose my mind when he did never say never though yes I guess.
I was waiting for him to bring jaden Smith out and he didn't.
Back to the keyboard delete though just in the moment. Protein shakes.
Keep. Yeah. Keep. What should go to flavor?
Vanilla. Vanilla. Although they've got chocolate mint down there.
Have they? Yeah, that's a solid choice.
Oh, are you a chocolate and mint kind of person? I mean I can I can get a ball with it.
Where do you stand on the mint chalk chip?
Mint chock chip ice cream
Yeah
I don't mind it
I can
If it's the only ice cream now
I'll have it
Run bored with it
Yeah
Are you a minty chocolate
Are you an after eight
At Christmas candy gown
A smash
Yeah
There we go then
Very big fan
Yeah big time
Love love love love
Team fines
Keep or delete
Or delete
This is causing some turmoil
For Chloe
Delete
Oh
There was some hesitance
There was some hesitance
There
Yeah
I was trying to
Okay
I don't know how to explain
what I was my thought process.
Yeah, delete, cool.
And final one, sprints.
Keep.
Oh.
Do you, you like exercise.
Yeah, I'm giving an exercise girl on this podcast.
Yeah, you are.
But in like a, in like a way that I'm kind of almost want to sign up to the London
Maritime.
You're getting motivated by this on you, I know.
Someone take my phone off me.
I do not need to sign up for the marathon.
after this.
Are you a sprint at Chloe?
Yeah, yeah.
I'm a short distance person.
I can't do long distance to save my life.
So yeah, sprint, keep.
Absolutely not.
Are you ready for some fan questions?
Go for it.
Yeah.
We've got some good ones.
What have you learned from the senior players in the squad?
Have they given you any good advice?
Millie, funny enough, did the other day.
She actually just said,
go and enjoy every single moment
and like as in
if you don't want to do it you don't do it
enjoy what you can
and football's there to enjoy it
and if you don't enjoy it
find something new
this has been a real Millie Bright Love Festival
I know fully
it's been very wholesome
Yeah really nice
Brooke what's been the most important thing
you've learned during the recovery process
that's a great question
shout out to that
I like that
that there are so many more important things
to life.
Like you,
make sure you cherish every single moment that you can.
I think if you're having a good game,
really vibe off that,
because you don't know when touch would,
but you don't know when you could get injured next
and you're not going to have that moment for a long time.
So I think definitely vibe off the moment that you're having
and really strive off that positive.
It's been so wholesome in here today.
I love it.
Oh, this is a great question.
Who's the funniest in the?
the team, this comes up a lot. People, people really like to know this one. I like this one.
Erin comes up a lot. As is funny.
Erin comes up an awful lot. She's rinsed me on this podcast a few times.
When Erin Cuthbert comes to sit in this room, I'm preparing to get absolutely grinsed.
You're bracing.
Who is the funniest, would you say?
They're taking it very seriously. I am. I'd like to.
making sure that we get the good credentials.
Sam's quite funny.
Sam's up there as well, I think.
Sometimes she just drops something in
and I'm like, yeah, that's funny.
Yeah, it's like undetectable sometimes.
Yeah, it is.
You don't know what she's going to come out with.
Who have you bonded with the most on the team?
I've got a lot of time forags.
I love Aggie.
Such a hero.
Oh, we had Aggie and Eve in here
and they were doing the Defined Gravity risk.
Oh, yeah.
And I was crying laughing.
Oh my God, the two of them is a combo.
are lethal, aren't they?
My face hurt after being in the...
It's so funny.
Is anybody in particular who bonded with Chloe?
I feel like I'm really putting on.
The younger ones.
Shout out to Lex.
Like, yeah, obviously the younger one.
Always Lexi, Bella.
Oh, Lexi makes me laugh.
Yeah, she's so funny.
So unintentional as well, isn't it?
Oh, my gosh.
Oh, my gosh.
We had her on the podcast,
and I thought she thought I was going to eat her.
She's the most scared anybody's ever been coming up.
from the podcast, I was like, I promise you, I'm not going to hear it.
This is not an interrogation.
Sounds like her.
Do you guys believe in star signs?
What's Odiak sign, all you both?
Cancer.
Cancer.
Cediatric.
Oh, Sagittarius.
Little fire sign situation.
I like it.
I say that, like I'm really big.
Like, you're really good.
No, I had my tarot cards read for the first time earlier on this year,
and it absolutely scared the living day.
That's out there.
Don't recommend it then, no.
Well, it depends.
I came out of it quite enthused
because she was like, yeah,
you're gonna have a good year.
I was like,
I was like,
crackin, thanks, babes.
But I feel like
if she'd have said anything negative,
I might have,
I might have cried.
Emotionally, very volatile.
Have you always been competitive?
Yeah, yeah.
Like, both on the pitch,
are you competitive?
If we were to whack out a game
of Monopoly right now,
are you two gonna get competitive?
I'm involved, yeah, yeah.
Are you a cheater when it comes to a monopoly game?
Are you a...
I don't know how to play.
We've heard a lot of talk about Yatsi.
Oh, I don't know how to play that.
Neither.
There's been a lot of Yatsi talk on the podcast previously.
A lot of the girls are into the Yatsi scene.
I've also never played Yatsi.
So I sit here and I'm like,
great game.
They talk to me and it sounds very intense
and I'm like, I need to get on the Yatsi train.
Is that something that you guys are looking to get involved with?
Definitely not.
Definitely not?
No.
Not for you, mate.
They're way too competitive.
No, they're a different level.
They're a different level.
Yeah, we've heard a lot about the playing speed,
about the intensity.
Oh, wow, really getting involved.
The screaming and the shouting loads of it.
It deserves its own league at this point.
It really does.
Are you morning or night people?
100% morning.
Night.
I feel like that comes with being a gym person.
I'm also a night person, Chloe.
I get more done it in the evening.
I'm more productive.
That's valid, yeah.
Because when the sun's out in the afternoon,
I just want to be laid out.
Yeah.
the sun goes down, all right, game on, let's go.
Do you have a favourite off-pitched memory of Chelsea so far?
Maybe just the dinner's out.
It's nice for it.
The dinner's out because we're sat next to each other, you know?
Just pure vibes.
Yeah.
I get a lovely vibe from the two of you.
Yeah, we're quite funny, you know.
I get that.
When we're a regular aunt and deck.
Yeah.
Oh, yeah.
Okay, Ant.
I see that, you know.
Deck, Ant.
Yeah.
I think that's the way.
around I see it. You see it? Yeah, I like it.
Oh, final fan question, and this is an important one, because we're doing hard-hitting journalism
here on We Are Chelsea, sponsored by Skoda. Do you know what six-seven means? I've never felt
as old in my life. I feel like I've retired. I've sent my grandkids off to university.
What the hell does it mean? Don't ask me what it means, but it's Lexi. Every time you say
something, Lexi just whips it out.
My little sister is the same age as you if I make, and she does it.
And I don't, I look at her like the light has died in my eyes.
I don't know what it means.
I don't know what it's supposed to mean.
I don't know where it's come from.
No, I know where it came from, but I don't know what it means.
I think I'm past it.
I think I know where it came from.
Isn't it from basketball?
Yeah, I think it's, I think it's a six foot seven basketball player.
This is what I'd heard, but it seems to have eaten people alive.
I don't know why.
It seems to have gone viral.
Yeah, I don't know why it's.
It reminds me so much of last summer
the Italian brain rot
with the, what was it?
The bloody shark with shoes on
that.
Ballerina cappuccina and all that.
I don't know what it means.
I don't know why.
It's funny.
You never heard of it.
I don't know what you're talking about.
It was some AI generated nonsense.
Have you talking about AI generated nonsense?
Have you seen these things on TikTok
like strawberry and like...
The strawberry is on it?
I love that.
I'm not being one bit funny.
That is incredible.
This AI nonsense needs to stop.
I'm so addicted to it though.
It's terrible.
It's incredible.
Honestly, if you want to hear that level of BS,
I'll drink a pint of water and just start talking crap.
I don't see why we need a computer to start generating it.
I've seen so many strawberries get kicked out for farting.
Yeah.
I don't get it.
And for like cheating on the ocean
and it comes out as an orange.
Yeah, there's a banana had an affair
with a mango and all of a sudden
and he's had a baby, there's a coachman.
What do you mean?
It draws you in, don't it?
Every time I open it,
I'm like, I think I'm getting too old for the incident.
I think it's time for me to retire.
I think it's absolutely the most ridiculous thing
I've ever seen in my entire life,
but I don't know if I just don't find it funny
because I'm old.
I don't think it's very.
It's very funny.
It just like really catches me on.
I don't understand it.
I don't understand it either.
I don't know where it's come from.
Because it's always a strawberry in it?
Yeah, always.
Why is strawberries catching strays?
Well, like banana.
Yeah.
It's always a strawberry or it's always a tomato.
Yeah, something like that.
Something at random like that.
Yeah.
Is that something that's like widely known amongst the team
or is this something that's just a month of today?
Yeah.
Something that I just thought I'd bring up
because I felt alone watching it.
Jimresence, spoken about it yet.
No, maybe you should bring it back to the podcast.
Go and do some market research.
How many of the team are watching Fruitie Love Island?
Fruitie AI Love Island.
Are you ready to play my favourite game on the podcast?
We're going to play whistleblower.
Now, we're going to give you guys the opportunity
to be the referee in people's lives.
We've had some fans submit actual real life scenarios
that are actually really going on in their lives.
And we need you guys to,
to make some judgments,
to call in the advice.
Are you good at giving advice?
Do your friends come to you for advice?
I try my best.
Are you good at taking advice?
Yeah.
There's a real differing of opinion here.
Are you ready to give some advice?
It's just because I'm really unsurious.
Yeah.
That's why I call it.
Then you're going to give some great answers today's.
Our first scenario,
someone at my gym keeps using the machine I'm on
in between my sets without asking,
and it's grossing me out
because I like to wipe the machines down before and after use.
Should I say something, or is that just awkward?
It happens every time I go.
I'm not sure about using the in between her sets.
I know, that's a bit ming.
But that's offside, that is.
Offside!
Yeah.
Right, and the second thing, wiping down the machines,
personally, I'm really bad, but I don't do that.
No.
Nah, that's two, like, three years ago, right?
That's COVID times that.
That's two social distancing for me, babe.
That's cool.
I think.
I think say something.
Say something 100%.
Get involved.
You're changing my way.
What are you doing?
That's great.
Like you want to sit in my sweat?
Yeah, it's gross.
Move.
This is not Peterish.
I don't want to share my germs.
Second scenario.
I accidentally saw a message on my friend's phone about a surprise birthday party for me,
but I hate surprises and I'll feel so awkward.
Do I say something or do I really heavily hint that I don't want to do anything for my
birthday. I don't want to upset them because it is very sweet. I just know I won't enjoy it.
Help! It's how they've written it.
Go on. What's your opinion?
Well, I mean, if I was in their shoes, I would probably just be like, just keep bringing
up the fact I don't want a surprise party. But they're not going to stop if they've already
started. You're like, do you know what my worst nightmare is? Surprise party.
Yeah, I'll be like, like, if someone gives me a surprise
party, something's going to happen
and you're not going to like it.
That's a bit deep.
You're not going to like it.
We've got the godfather of us.
I'm not serious.
Very serious.
I just think go on with it.
Just go along with it.
Because it's not a surprise anymore
if you know about it.
Yeah, exactly.
And you could just walk in and go,
I already knew.
Thanks so, lads.
Yeah, like, oh, the art of subtleties.
It's not a surprise, so why would you hate it?
It's not a surprise anymore.
True.
So you shouldn't hate it.
Just go at it.
with that mindset. It's no longer a surprise.
It's not a surprise. You know about it. Maybe they left the phone
out because they already knew you didn't like surprises.
Or maybe we're thinking too deep into this now.
Okay, final scenario.
Someone at work keeps presenting my ideas as their own in meetings.
I don't want to cause drama, but it's starting to really annoy me
because they get the praise. What do I do? Call them out!
That's like when someone takes your joke.
Yes. And just says it louder.
Said it louder. I mean. That is, I really gets under my nails.
That does. I got really angry about that.
It's a real deep seat of trauma.
I know exactly what you mean
because you were being funny
and someone says it loud
and you think,
oh, you're joking, have a day off.
It's like, do you know
when you were at school
and you get a group project
and there's always one lady
that takes a little bit
that just puts their name on it
at the end and you're like,
I did all this.
Yeah, what are you doing?
Disgusting behaviour?
Red cards.
Yeah, for real.
I'd call them out.
Yeah.
Call them out or drop a minute
give them a really bad idea
and then watch everybody regret it
and then be like,
yeah, they would do it
yeah, they're not going to do it?
There you go.
Plant the seeds, seeds of doubt.
Well, it has been such a lovely privilege
getting to chat to your birthday and getting to know you
and it's going to be so nice for the fans
to be able to get to know you both as well.
Thank you so much for joining it.
Thank you very much.
And enjoy the rest of your season.
Thank you.
