What's up, everybody, welcome back.
Happy Skew's Day to you.
It is September 10th, 2024.
I'm Trey, that's Mark.
How are you doing there?
Mark, big night tonight.
Free game for the debate, a lot of stuff going on.
How are you feeling?
I thought you were talking about the fact that a new episode of Slow Horses is going to drop
a little bit.
I'm excited about that.
I'll probably watch a little bit of debate.
So you see how Trump showed up for the debate with Laura Lumer?
I guess he'd been doing DeBray.
If you're not sure who Laura Lumer is, she's a self-avowed white nationalist who posts a lot of anti-Muslim YouTube videos.
And was recently eating dog food on her YouTube channel.
So that's...
Absolute lunatic.
Looks lunaticy too.
She's done a lot of shit to her face.
She looks wild as hell.
Yeah, she fits right in over there.
Remember when she changed herself to Twitter headquarters after she got banned,
but she changed herself to one door so the door still opens.
So just open the door and chained to it.
That's a perfect metaphor for their outrage culture that they have.
But yeah, yeah, we've got a big one in that.
We got a big announcement to give you all right now.
So we are for at least the near future welcoming a brand new producer to the show.
That's right.
Producer Laura, everybody.
She's going to be shrouded in just as much mystery as producer Matt was.
Don't ask for any details.
It don't matter.
And ask producer Laura, you ain't got to worry.
about it. Producer Matt is fine. He didn't get hit by a bus or nothing. As a matter of fact,
some pretty exciting stuff going on with producer Matt, Mark. Yeah, let me read here from Politico,
aka Tiger Beat on the Potomac. Vice President Kamala Harris is bringing on a new campaign hire as part
of what teams pushed to clinch must-win states this fall by keeping former President Donald
Trump from running up the score in rural counties. Harris is tapping Matt Hildreth of the
progressive rural organizing group as her rural engagement director. This is awesome for Matt, obviously.
and now we know who to blame if she loses.
It's going to be all that's fault.
We'll, you know, burn him an effigy, November 6th.
But Politico's language here,
Democrats have been hemorrhaging support in rural America for years,
but making even a small dent in Trump's steep rural margins
could determine the outcome in battleground states
that maybe decided by rager thin margins.
That's Matt's whole pitch.
I was about to say, I was about to say,
like, if you guys know anything,
and I know we do keep him shrouded in mystery by his own choice,
of the time, but if y'all know anything about producer Matt's other life at all, that's literally
his whole entire thing is exactly that. He's out there doing fake Lord's work,
trying to keep, keep rural America from the complete brink and doing the best he can to bring us
back. So yes, this is a, I feel like it's very, I don't know who the other candidates are,
and I'm not basing this on their podcast producing skills, but I feel like he was the perfect
choice for this. Congratulations to producer Matt.
all congratulate him, too.
He's now working for the Harris campaign.
That's right.
So obviously, since he's working for the Harris campaign,
he can in no way be associated with this fucking shit show that we have here on Tuesday.
So we've gotten producer Laura come to come into the fold,
and we appreciate her being here.
So, yeah, that's the first big announcement for y'all tonight.
It's the craziest thing you hear all night, I'm sure, is that that happened.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah, yeah. And that, you know, Haitians are parentheses not eating cats, although it's like if you go on the Internet today, it feels like every cat in America has been eaten by Haitian immigrants. So we're going to talk about that. Before we get to the show, one little fun story I want to talk about. Maybe it's the fun, maybe the funniest example of getting fired over social media post of all the time. Let's look at this picture real quick. I think they'll end up here, producer. This is a Navy boat. This is a Navy boat captain by the name of Cameron Yeast, who was the commanding officer of the destroyer USS John McCain.
who was fired downstream with the fact that if you look at that picture closely,
the scope of that rifle is on backwards.
So he posts this picture on the Navy's Instagram channel,
the ship's Instagram channel, of him not knowing how to shoot a gun.
And apparently the Navy said he was relieved the duty, quote,
due to a loss of confidence in his ability to command the guided missile destroyer
that's currently deployed in the Gulf of Oman.
He got fired for not to be able to shoot a gun when he's a boat captain.
okay sure i hear you that is funny that is definitely funny but i do find this wild i thought the
military was real hardcore about a lot of things like it like how does that happen ever i've got
a bunch of like buddy you know god bless them i got a bunch of dip ship buddies that went into the
military and i can't see any of them doing this i'm not going to lie like they know their guns
they know their military shit and these motherfuckers were e1s after five years
years or whatever. You know what I mean? They're like throwing all their signing bonus at a Dodge
charger with a through the roof APR or whatever. They're that type of soldier again, love him
to death. But I wouldn't, it would surprise me if one of those dudes did this. So a commander
doing this, I do, I do find that odd. That's wild to me. Maybe he's just been out of the gun game
for too long. He's been in the boat game for too long. Is that what it is? Okay.
He would, in the course of his Navy duties, I don't, I imagine he probably hasn't had to fire
a rifle since basic training, maybe.
Right. Yeah.
So, like, and he's, again, he tells, he commands other dudes how to turn dials in a control.
Right. Do you think somebody did this to him? Like, this is like a photo op, right?
Do you think someone purposefully put it on wrong? Because they're like, fuck this guy and gave it to him.
Like, he ain't going to notice. You know. Somebody. But like, you know, the interest service rivalries are pretty hilarious here because I bet you the other branches are sitting around, like being like, nobody from the Navy knows how to shoot a gun.
But it's actually like, sure.
I think one of the things that got him fired was once they posted the photo, the Marines were clowning him.
Like the Marine Corps official channel commented on the photo, clear sight picture, which I guess is a military burn.
And that was so humiliated.
Hell of a burn from the military.
Yeah.
I support it.
Like, I'm happy for the Marines for getting a public chance to call someone else stupid in the service, you know, because I know that the Marines are the ones amongst the branches.
They're the ones that eat crayons and, you know, aren't the.
sharp as bulbs in the shed or however the same.
Yeah.
What makes the grass go, blood, blood.
I know they were excited.
Yeah.
Yeah.
Yeah.
So, anyway, fun with our military industrial complex there.
Just, this guy got heated off the deck of a destroyer because he'd know how to hold a gun,
even though it has nothing to do with his job.
Anyway, America's more safe now, guys.
Rest easy.
The Gulf of Oman's projected because they got a new captain who knows how to put a rifle,
a scope on a rifle correctly.
Also, I would assume because they have 17 other boats in that part of the
world for just because all the time, you know, because we're, uh, we're pretty extra with
our, with our military presence. But yes, let's get into it. Producer Laura is with us for the
first time. This is weekly skews. We want to remind you all before we continue a few things.
First, if you want to see me do stand-up comedy live in person, and of course, you should want

later this week. We cover things that, you know, we don't get to on the main show, things that
happen in between just stuff we want to talk about. It's just, it's more of this show.
If you like this show, it's more of it. So you get more skews in your life and support the
show in the process. What could be better than that? All right. As for the show tonight, as Mark
said, I don't know if y'all have heard, but there's a brand spanking new fearmongering campaign,
lighting the woods on fire out there in Maga World. It turns out, according to them,
Haitian immigrants are eating people's kiddy cats. That's right. I'm a cat lover.
I got two cats, so obviously I find this very alarming,
but it turns out there may be more to this story than meets the eye.
Or less.
Or less.
I guess actually that's true.
There may be much, much, much less to this story than meets the eye.
We'll dive into the details of it a little later,
but first we begin with the daily dumbass.
Laura, graphic please.
Tonight's DD, the U.S.
armed forces for being outgunned by Venezuelan teams, apparently.
In Aurora, Colorado, entire apartment complexes are being taken over by armed
Venezuelan gangs with weapons, the likes of which even the military doesn't see.
They're terrorizing residents.
They're just menacing the whole state.
All right.
So I knew this, we talked about this last week.
I just wanted to update this real quick, because I knew it was going to be in a stump speech.
In another speech of the day, he said that, like, if he doesn't win, Trendi-A-Wagua is going to take over the state of Colorado.
Right.
Didn't he also say, real quick, on an episode three or four weeks ago or something, didn't he also say that he was going to move to Venezuela?
Did he not pick Venezuela, Trump, if he loses?
I'll tell you right now, even if all Venezuelans did have guns and were taking over apartment complex,
which they don't, and they're not.
But even if they did, I'd take that trade right now, personally.
You kind of would take y'all Trump for every last one of them.
But, yeah, obviously, this is, yeah.
So what's really going on here, Mark?
It's been a confusing story, the whole thing.
We talked about last week, I mentioned that the people that live there say that the gangs aren't the real problem.
It's the landlord.
And lo and behold, it's the fucking landlord.
I knew it.
We have a national controversy over a shitty landlord who just lying about it.
So this week, an Aurora judge ruled that the slum lord who runs this place can wait until February to resolve charges away from the jury.
Now, the guy who owns a place, his name is Zev Baumgartner, Bumgarten.
He's been given to February 14th to resolve dozens of charges stemming from outstanding code violations.
We're talking about rat infestations, backed up sewage, and piles of trash.
And here's how this became a national story, all right?
to try to blame his shitty
landlording on someone else.
He hired a PR firm by the name of Red Banyan
to make the argument
that the only reason that is this property
called Fitzsimmons Place,
the only reason to fall into disrepair
is because the Venezuelan gang Trander of Waguay
scared away its property managers.
So the sum total of this entire story
is the Venezuelan gangs taking over
Colorado Department building story
appears to been fabricated by slum lord
trying to wiggle out a building court
with the help of a crisis PR agency
that specializes in cancel culture.
I'm not fucking kidding.
Let me read to you.
They have a whole page of their website
dedicated to fighting cancel culture.
This is the main service they offer
as a crisis PR firm.
How to fight cancel culture.
People who go against the flow
in voice opposing views
may very well find themselves
in the target of cancel culture.
It's an only phenomenon
aiming at salencing those
who voice opposing views
through online attacks.
So the opposing views here
are that people
that rent my apartment complex should have rat turds on their floors right okay so here's my
first question before i elaborate on what i think about this whole thing but the so we covered this
on a previous episode and we you know we watched the video and we talked about how like i mean what
is happening here because there you know there's a video that everybody saw and you can clearly
see do multiple dudes 20-ish 30-ish dude that's their age 20-something 30-th
something dudes, a bunch of them walking around, I mean, holding guns, holding high-powered
rifles and stuff, knocking on doors.
Like, what was that?
Like, what was that?
I don't know.
That was one woman's ring camera.
And I don't know the truth of the whole situation around there.
But the, but the reason this became a national story is because this crisis PR firm,
this met about council culture.
And they were basically arguing that it's not the landlords fault, the place is falling apart.
It's because they can't get it fixed because the gang is scaring away their property
managers.
Right. That's it. That's it.
And also, like, I know I've seen other, the whole thing is just weird to me because I've seen these news pieces and stuff where it's like we have not been able to confirm the reality of this situation.
It's like it just feels to me like it should be easy enough to confirm at least a version of it.
Like go down there and like is this.
So it's like it was the building falling apart because this landlord sucks, which is easy enough to believe for all of us.
Like what's the cause and effect of it?
You know what I mean?
like that was happening.
This building was in disrepair
and that makes it an easier target
for people who then moved in because of that
and wouldn't have otherwise.
Or like,
did they hire crisis actors to carry the guns and be the...
See, I don't want to do that.
It's hard for, you know what I mean?
Like, being on the left,
I don't want to start hollering about crisis actors and stuff
because I just feel like it's bad look.
Right.
But if this was an episode of Scooby-Doo,
it would be the landlord trying to scare people
the way, right? Yeah, right. Always
the evil landlord. The thing I was going to say
about this is like
if the left
operated even remotely like the right does,
this would be a bigger story
on the left, the landlord part of it.
You know what I mean? Landlord are a boogeyman
on the left, and by the way, for much more
valid reasons than immigrants are on the right,
but like
the fact that this has not
been picked up and turned into the
left's version of
Haitians eating cats, which we're about to get into.
I feel like that's indicative of something, something that I'm, like, I'm personally
all right with it because I'm like, yeah, we don't play that shit the same way they do.
We're not idiots, right?
But like, but, you know, maybe try a little harder at the same time.
Do you know what I'm saying?
Like the fearmongering campaigns on the left are never nearly as potent as those on the right.
And I guess it's just because we're not as, I don't know, we're more skeptical by nature.
You know what I mean?
Yeah. That's part of it.
And the center left coalition has a lot of people that just like try to have perspective
on stuff.
And like it might serve the movement better if they, if we didn't.
But it's like it's uncomfortable for me though.
I don't like fucking lying.
No, me.
No, I know.
Yeah.
That's what I'm saying.
Like I don't like pretending that some one apartment building in America is indicative of
anything other than what landlords are allowed to get away with.
Right.
Until they get 14 counts of violations for repeated, for repeatedly.
fucking up and screwing over the people that are paying them rent and like that to me that's the
takeaway here and like I said I don't know we don't know what those guys in that one
video ring camera ring camera video up to but they they they they've that video has been
used in service of beating down poor people to protect a landlord and that's that's that's
that's what the story is so yeah yeah not everybody sees it that way though mark to be
fair some people like Colorado representative Lauren Bobert have a uh
have a different view on the whole situation.
And she seems pretty assured of it.
Each new claim about Aurora surfaces, we try to verify whether it's true.
So take the claim that the gang, Trendaad Agua, is involved in child prostitution in Aurora.
We had not heard that from anyone on any side of this issue until two days ago.
So where did it come from?
It's from a report prepared by a law firm working for the lender who holds the mortgage on the
Whispering Pines apartment complex.
In that report, it is cited as a third.
third-hand anonymous claim. Someone told someone who told the law firm, which then notified the
city of the claim on August 8th. We have not been able to determine if this claim is true.
We continue to look into it. It's not one of the crimes that's been linked to the recent
arrests of suspected gang members. Yet this week, Republican Congresswoman Lauren Bobert,
in a letter to the Biden administration, said that the gang sexual abuse of children in Aurora
was quote-unquote confirmed. So today we asked her how she confirmed that.
This is a nonpartisan law firm that has come out with this.
This is information that is vetted.
It is nonpartisan.
And it's our most evident form of the allegations that have been presented with Trin de Aragua here in Aurora, Colorado.
Okay.
So because the law firm's not openly partisan, even though they represent a bank that holds a
lean on the property or whatever.
Right.
They're,
they're completely have no motivated, motivated interest.
And this report they put together that quotes a guy,
you've heard it from a guy, heard it from a guy.
Mm-hmm.
And so now they're all doing Q and on child trafficking shit.
And I'm like, this stuff, like, do we have reality anymore?
I don't know, dude.
I mean, yeah.
I mean, that's like the key question.
It's like, I was actually thinking earlier about trying to think about making some kind
of evergreen video about that subject where it's like reality should
matter and it's not
even handy. Like you can say all the both
side shit you want and I know no one who needs to
hear this is going to hear it ever. But like
it ain't the same.
You know what I mean? Like when
we complain about
Trump trying to
overthrow the government or
you know, launch an insurrectionist coup
as a result of him losing a free and fair
election, like
that's true. That happened.
Right. When they talk
about this shit and Haitians eating cats,
and stuff like that.
It's not true.
And they could be like, well,
we could say the same thing in reverse.
Like, they could say that.
It'd be like,
I feel the same way about what you're saying.
But there are multiple reputable sources
who back up the fact that this is bullshit,
the things that we're talking about.
You know what I mean?
Like the police department in Aurora
came out with a public statement saying like,
as far as we are,
this is not happening.
This is not something we're dealing with.
But that just gets ignored
and meanwhile on our side
all the evidence we have to support
the claim, it also just gets
ignored for being inconvenient
to what they want to think. And it's like, it's
just no, no, reality
clearly does not matter anymore.
Like that ship has sailed.
It just doesn't matter. That poor
reporter, Kyle, I can't remember his name right now. Sorry
Kyle. I can't remember your last name. Kyle back something like that.
But anyway, he's in there. We continue to look
into it and I'm like, why?
You're doing facts backwards. You don't investigate
a claim to find
if it's true, you figure out, you start with evidence, then build from there.
It's like, everything's upside down now.
But like, let's get, let's get into the main topic today because it's-
Hang on, hang on, Mark, real quick.
Yes, the main topic is related to this, but I wanted to let y'all know before I forget.
Obviously, we're aware it's a big night tonight.
We know that the debate, the big debate, the first debate between Kamala and Trump
is starting in about 39 minutes, T-minus 39 minutes.
Because of that, we are going to close, we're going to shut down shop a little bit early,
about five minutes early, five, six, seven minutes early to give y'all time to switch over.
Because we know there's thousands and thousands of people out there who are using us as their pre-debate coverage,
even though we're not going to talk about it.
But either way, we assume you want to watch it.
I want to watch it too.
I got a friend coming over to watch it.
So this episode is going to be a little bit shorter.
We'll stop a little early.
Just want to let y'all know of that.
But yes, let's please continue.
Trey did announce the main reason for one to get our buddy Irvine is coming over to watch with Trey.
and Trey doesn't want to leave.
It's too hot to leave Irvine sitting on his porch.
So blame climate change for the fact that works out of the way.
Well, that's fair.
That's fair with me.
You know, I got a pizza coming too.
I got stuff to do.
Anyway, yeah.
Let's go.
So throw up this news grab, producer Laura, so we can, this screen grab.
So we can explain how the fuck it is we got here.
Is that, oh, you can't see that.
The Chiron says, our Chiron's blocking out this.
Springfield pets are safe.
There we go.
Pets, Springfield Pets are safe.
So why is the news having to announce to people that their pets are safe?
And it is because J.D. Vance went and popped off on socials about something he did not understand in order to start like this weird blood liable about Haitian immigrants who were here legally in Springfield, Ohio.
Watch the beginning of this news clip, if you got it, Laura.
Today, the small city of Springfield, Ohio, found itself at the center of a fraught election year issue, immigration.
Republican vice presidential candidate J.D. Vance claims that Haitian migrants in Springfield are, quote, draining social services and causing chaos.
He's also repeated a baseless rumor already debunked by city officials about pets being abducted and eaten, a story amplified by right-wing media and Elon Musk online.
Over the last four years, Springfield has seen a small popular...
Sorry, Laura.
I'm going to call Laura Matt a few times, I'm sure.
Yeah, it's probably going to happen.
Hey, we've got three plus year, hell, four years of that to overcome, but yes.
So if you're wondering if there's any reality here, there was a lady 200 miles away who killed her neighbor's cat.
We'll get to her a second.
She's not Haitian, as far as anybody knows.
She's a regular old American citizen who killed her neighbor's pet cat.
All right.
And this is how a lot of these things happen or start, right?
It's just like, there's like, there is a thing that did happen that has some kernel of truth to it.
And then that thing gets like used in service of some narrative that they spin up out of nowhere.
Right.
And then, and it works incredibly well.
Like people, people buy into it so easily and just roll with it.
I watched a viral video of the woman's arrest.
was kind of compelling. I didn't want to make fun of a woman who just was obviously having a
mental health crisis. But like it is compelling video. But like my thing is like most people haven't
seen the video and they panic still working. So why even wait for a real thing? Why even have a
real thing? And we're pretty soon. We won't even need a real thing. Well, I think I think the answer to
that in my opinion is that like I think the real things give them the ideas. That's what I think.
Like I don't think that they think let's say they're eating cats. I think it's that this
lady in the midst of a terrible
mental health crisis has this happened
somebody on their team sees that
and they're like you know what we can do
with this and then it goes from there
that's my theory that's why I see
they're doing law and order rip from the headlines
is what you're saying I got you yeah so
the original source for this claim
is a woman on Facebook
on a Springfield Facebook group
she went viral nationally
she did not cite firsthand knowledge of the
incident just like the last
story we're talking about instead they claim
that their neighbor's daughter's friend had lost her cat and found it hanging from a branch
in a Haitian neighbor's home and being carved up to be eaten.
So her neighbor's daughter's friend, according to her, found her cat being eaten by Haitian.
See, dude, I just feel like not even that long ago in America, if you told any American
on either side of the political spectrum that a claim started with my neighbor's daughter's
friend, that person would be like, okay, so this is some telephone game bullshit, right?
I really do think that's true.
I really do think like pre-Trump, the most conservative people, you've got my neighbor's
daughter's friend said that and they would be like, okay, well, I mean, the way you started
that tells me it's not true.
But that's just not how it works anymore.
My most trusted friends, I don't believe half the shit they tell me they saw.
Right.
That's one to one degree away.
Yeah.
Right.
So people on Facebook are believing a woman who said her neighbor's daughter's friend.
Right.
Saw something.
All right.
Yeah.
So there's people out there be like, this.
This lady I saw on Facebook saw another post on Facebook where that lady's neighbor's
daughter's friend said that this happened.
And then the other person listening is like, oh, my God, that's just like them.
Can you believe what Joe Biden's in this country?
Right.
It's crazy.
It reminds me of a, what was I thinking?
There was another moral panic we did that it was like, like even more like third degree
source than this.
It's like, where it's all the litter box thing, the litter boxes in schools.
Yeah.
Everybody knows a person who knows a person who knows a person who's seen it.
No one's seen it.
Right.
And it's like this kind of shit drives me fucking insane.
The poster also claimed the one on Facebook is one of the sources.
She said they've been doing it at a Snyder Park with ducks and geese.
And she said, Rangers told her this.
So she thinks there are park rangers at city parks.
And those are her sources.
She made up City Park Rangers.
Ducks and geese?
We'll get to the digs and geese.
Okay.
All right.
All right.
Well, I guess we'll wait.
Because I have some thoughts on the ducks and geese part of this whole thing.
But yeah, go ahead.
Yeah.
So again, 170 files away in Canton, Ohio did arrest and recently charged a woman with cruelty to companion animals for allegedly killing and eating a cat in a neighborhood in front of multiple people.
Now, watch the video.
The woman did not say she was eating the cat.
Some people told the cops she was eating a cat.
Either way, she stomped it to death.
She kicked the cat and hit.
That's what she did.
Just a crazy, regular old born bread America.
Crazy person.
Okay.
Yeah.
So, and we go from the, uh, from these Facebook posts to this billboard put up by Arizona
Republican Party and like a day and a half if you got this image.
That's the spoof of the chickfil-a billboard says eat less kittens vote Republican.
What the fuck?
One thing I'm really, really, really, really bothered by with this whole thing is how they have
that they, Ted Cruz and Donald Trump and their ilk have co-opted cute kitten pictures and memes for
their fucking base services is pissing me off as a cat lover i don't like it i don't like them
i don't like them trying to claim cat memes as their own or whatever i don't like but yeah it's also
it is impressive the speed with which they hop on this shit because yeah you said it's like
what 23 hours later or something they've already got a billboard up i know but if you're if you're
like a regular person who doesn't watch the internet closely and you're just driving to work and
you see this what the fuck is going through your head like their brains are cooked man
I know like absolutely dude absolutely because and they know that they know that's true they know that
there's tons of people out here in this country who don't follow shit that closely and they see
this billboard then maybe they get to work and ask someone else who saw a post on Twitter or whatever
it's like do you see what's that about and you're like oh you didn't hear yeah because of all
the immigrants Democrats are letting in this country they're eating people's cats now and they're
just like well we can't have that you know that's what I'm
saying. It's infuriating how effective it is or appears to be. Yeah, we'll see, I guess. So for
background here, the cultural milieu, did I use that word correctly? I don't know that this is
swimming in. Springfield, Ohio is a town of about 60,000 people, which is significantly down from
where it was in its prime. It was about 80,000 people in 1960s. So a significant population drop,
that's because the economy was based on manufacturing and all those jobs went away and everybody left.
yeah rust belt stuff right right yeah this is the kind this is the kind of town that when people
have writing profiles of areas of support trump but why small towns have turned like this kind of
populism this is the sort of like a prototypical town okay so uh but recently there's been a boom
in manufacturing and warehouse jobs the kind of jobs that everybody says america needs it once
and i'm foreign they're all shall be unionized yada yada yada so uh about 15 12 15
20, so different numbers, 12, 15, 20,000 Haitians have arrived.
They're in this country legally.
They've been giving temporary protected status.
I forget the exact term for it by the Biden administration,
which this kind of immigration reform is a good thing that the Biden administration's been doing.
They're never going to say out loud because they don't want to piss off the racists.
All right.
So, let me quote here from a recent New York Times story about what's going on in Springfield,
what the Haitian communities like.
They're assembling car engines at Honda, running vegetable packing machines,
and dole and loading boxes at distribution centers.
They are paying taxes on their wages and spending money at Walmart.
On Sundays, they gather churches for boisterous, joyful services in Haitian Creole.
All right.
There's a, that PBS story we showed up top.
I know you watched it because I gave you the link to, I had the link at the rundown.
There's a factory owner.
He has like a machine metalworks plant.
He has 300 employees, 30 other, 30 other now are now Haitian immigrants.
And he said he wants 30 more because they consistently show up to work and don't have drug problems.
Now, I listen to him to say that.
Now, I imagine he may be paying them less too, but it's whatever.
But so, but it's, I heard that.
You said you had the same thought I did, which was what?
He sounds like J.D. Vance.
Right.
It sounds like, yes.
Not these white trash motherfuckers want to work anymore.
They're all hooked on pills.
Right.
And it's like, this, this is a little bit tough for me because it's like, fuck J.D.
For throwing us on the bus the way he did.
I know plenty of white trash people who work very hard, people in my, you know.
Yeah, me too.
And I don't think we are in.
inherently worthless and lazy just because we're fucking poor or whatever.
But having said that, on the immigration side of it, though, I told you before we started,
I got a buddy who's a subcontractor works in construction in rural Tennessee,
and he has to work with other crews sometimes.
And he's told me repeatedly, he's like, he's like, dude, give me the immigrant crews every time.
He's like, 10 times out of 10, give me the immigrant crews over the white trash crews.
because they show up, they work.
All I'm really trying to say is
the people that I know personally
who regularly
deal with actual immigrants,
many of whom are illegal,
all speak positively of them.
The ones that I know, they're like, no, they work their fucking asses off.
They're happy to be here.
They're doing the best they can.
That's what I was here for people that actually know these people,
but then this shit gets spun up out of nowhere
and people just believe what they want to believe.
One of the reasons that didn't include the video clip of that factory owner is because I feel like he's not media trained.
He's not PR savvy or whatever.
He was trying to say something nice about the, because he's, the reason they're doing this story is because all this racist shit's happening.
And he wants to say something nice about his employees, right?
He didn't, he didn't frame it with like, all white people who are on pills or whatever, but it was deeply funny.
But, yes, it was.
So, like, there's the also interview in that piece with a pastor who's like, yeah, my church, my congregation is getting smaller and smaller and smaller and now.
growing again the community feels like it's alive again is thriving but like but there obviously are
growing pains here right like it's a strain on hospitals for example um there's a they had a son
interview with the mayor he's talking about i mean like like the need for translators in hospitals
has gone up fivefold they need like five times as many teachers with like foreign language skills
and stuff and but the beauty of that scenario is you got a bunch new tax base and tax revenue
to justify social expenditures you just have to do it right right no one's saying this shit
it's easy. I'm saying it's not
fucking impossible. You got to adapt.
Yeah. Right. And like
this could easily be
explained as like the rebirth of a struggling town
as opposed to these parasitic
migrants descending on this town to cause
a chaos. We've seen this before on
state-by-state basis
bases.
Like there was years ago when Alabama
passed some new really hard, really
stringent anti-immigration laws
and then that fall all their harvases
failed and it like
wrecked their economy.
And the same thing
would happen in this country
writ large.
These Republican politicians,
they don't actually want this
to happen.
They don't.
But if it actually did happen,
if they successfully deported
every single illegal we had
and shut down the border completely,
this country would grind to a fucking halt
tomorrow.
And they don't want to,
because again,
a lot of them are,
you know,
like Trump did for years,
a lot of them are employing these people
while demonizing them
in the public.
And it's just,
the whole thing is just,
bullshit. Yeah, I saw
a report the other day that since Florida
passed their anti-immigrant laws, it's cost the economy
$12.6 billion or something.
Right. It's like, it's like, plus it's also the
definition of like when Trump gets to do is dream
deportations. We did talk about
who's considered here legally
and not because these Haitians
are here legally, but they've been giving
a temporary status, which Trump will take away
and say they're here illegally and kick them all out.
Right. No more people
working at that guy's factory. He's got to go back
to the meth head hillbillies.
And so here's what kills me about that, too, is it's like, part of the reason they have that status is because Haiti is in an incredible state of disarray is putting it very lightly.
Haiti is in real bad shape, real bad shape.
It's overrun by gangs basically control the government.
There pretty much isn't a government.
It's real, real bad.
And it's like anybody who purports to be a Christian should want to extend a helping hand to these people.
Do you know what I mean?
The idea if you ask them, it's like you explain to them the reality of good, hardworking Haitian situation in Haiti.
And then you ask them, what should we do about that?
A, none of them are going to say in public, I don't know, let them fucking die in Haiti, right?
Which is how they act.
That's what they want to happen.
And any real Christian in the group should be like, well, we should act in Jesus's fashion and try to help these people.
because they need our fellow humans
and they need our help right now.
Especially when it's a win-win scenario.
Again, they're working, they're paying taxes,
they're buying stuff, their businesses are thriving.
This guy's metal park plan,
as extra employees, like, they work hard.
Like, it's like, this idea that there's a zero-sum game
between, like, Americans are born here
and Americans that come here is, like, weird.
It's also like...
Especially considering on a long enough time scale,
we all came here.
I mean, I know that's been pointed out a million times,
but this country is like literally never,
relied on immigrants to stay afloat and to thrive like ever it's never not been the case in our
entire history sorry to the native americans also the fact though we're going to get into this later
but i was going to say it now the fact that's Haitians they're doing this too but he's like breaks
my heart like triple it makes me so mad because i if you a scan go scan the wikipedia page for
Haitian history right and it'd be like oh this is this is our fucking it's the outside world's
fault to a to 99% degree.
America's supported coups there.
Would the French fuckery?
It's mostly the French that fucked that over, right?
Yeah.
The French made them pay them to buy themselves out of freedom after they fought off their
white oppressors.
Yes.
So they were in debt from the moment they were born.
The country was born.
And they still haven't paid that off, right?
They can't.
I don't know.
Of course.
I know.
I know.
I know.
It's insane.
Yeah.
And the reason, like, the current status is in Haiti's chaos is because the president was
assassinated in 2021 by a group of armed mercenaries who were financed by a doctor in Florida.
All right.
If you, that's, that is, that is, that's the cover story.
I have no idea what the intelligence involvement is, but I do know there were two American
mercenaries involved in it and a bunch of the, and the rest of the Colombians who were to a
large degree trained by the U.S. military, all right?
So like, to say that people can't come work in a factory because, you know, you know,
It makes traffic moresly worse.
You have to hire a couple translators to make your – but overall making your community better and stronger because it's like, hey, can you have some humanity here and accept some responsibility for the actions of our fucking government and our fellow Americans here?
Because to a large degree, it's our fault.
So anyway, so like I said, a lot of growing pains with a lot of new people moving in over the last couple years.
I get how it would throw things a little bit disarray in chaos as the schools and police and hospitals and fire department figure it out, right?
housing situation you got to build more all that shit true so the process doing that uh are you probably
tension in some part in some parts of community they're talking literal nazis speaking in city council
meetings where people scream and you're a fucking nazi pig at them okay that's been going on there
then last year uh a haysian immigrant crashed into a school bus um he had a driver's license in
Haiti but not an American driver's license. He was blinded by the son, knocked a school bus
into a ditch, the first day of school. An 11-year-old kid named Aidan Clark died in the crash.
And people started, it started this racist fear in the community. This was last fall.
And I want to quote here from Aden's parents, Nathan and Daniel Clark, who had to put out a statement,
imagine all the pains they're going through, and then people are doing the saying this racist shit
in the name of their dead son. We do not want our son's name to be associated.
with the hate that's being spewed at these meetings.
Please do not mix up the values of our family
with the uninformed majority that vocalize their hate.
Aiden embraced different cultures and would assist you do the same.
Thank you to the community for the continued support.
I hope they're finding some peace and, you know.
Well, dude, how many people have been killed by like drunk white 20-year-olds
in this country?
You know what I mean?
And whenever that happens, which it happens all the goddamn time.
And also, there but for the grace of God go I, just so y'all know.
When that ever that happens, there's never some big national campaign against fucking white 20-year-old drinking beer hanging out or whatever.
You know what I mean?
Like no one ever interprets these other things that way.
But when it's narratively convenient, like we were saying earlier about them waiting on, they see this lady, the story with the crazy lady and the cat, and they're like, oh, I know how we can use that.
It's like they apply that to everything, you know, like things that are convenient to them, they.
the only non-celebrity white person car accident i remember being a national story was like kid
in fort worth who killed a couple people with his truck driving drunk he'd gotten a bunch of driving
infractions he's a lawyer trying to get him off by saying he had affluenza and saying he's literally
oh yeah the affluenza kid yeah yeah that's the only one i remember and fuck his lawyer by the way
he's zealous representation of his client i get it all right so um but like so that all this stuff
going on is how you ended up at people being mad the Nazis aside regular citizens also
being mad over the price of housing going up which of course is a problem but also a guy got
up and said that he saw a Haitian immigrant out of park kill a duck all right okay this what
so to fuck what who cares I'm sorry look I know ducks is it I'm just I don't want to hear any
single redneck motherfucker lament the loss of duck life okay there was literally one of
most popular reality shows
in the history of reality TV was based around
a family whose fortune was based upon the
murdering of ducks. Y'all love
murdering duck. Y'all killed
ducks like nobody's business. And by the way,
I'm totally fine with that. I don't bother
me at all. Shoot all the goddamn ducks.
Turn them into soup. I don't give a fuck. But don't
act like you care now because
some black guy from the Caribbean
did it or whatever. And even geese
too. Who get, fuck, geese. Geese are
assholes, bro.
Yeah. Geese start shit all the time.
you know, like, I don't, I just don't.
Right.
If you did it, if he did it in a duck blind with a gun, nothing.
Exactly.
Right.
He did it with his hands like a real man.
Right.
Right.
Exactly.
So, anyway, I understand, like, you're to park with your kids.
You don't want to see some.
Anyway, if this happened.
Again, this is one of those things.
The guy said he saw it.
Maybe the fucking goose attack the guy or whatever.
They do that.
They want all the smoke.
If you're at a park of your kids and some goose runs up on a guy and he grabbed his neck,
twist that motherfucker to death.
You clap.
That's what you do.
You clap.
You don't.
fucking call the police department.
I had a pet turkey when I was a kid.
My parents had to get rid of because he started chasing me around being mean.
Say his name was Clarence.
Yeah.
So, yeah.
So, yeah.
It's fucking turkey.
Anyway,
go ahead.
But again,
like,
I understand you're at the park of your kids.
You don't want to see somebody kill a duck if it happened.
But you can just go over the guy and be like,
hey,
in America,
this is not killing park ducks is not our custom.
Right.
Yeah.
We kill woods ducks.
We kill woods ducks.
In America,
we kill woods duck.
Park ducks are different.
There's babies with bread in their hands here.
That's different.
you know but yeah you can kill all the woods ducks you won't and it's like there ain't no goddamn
difference between the woods duck and the park duck anyway yeah yeah i just i just don't think
like again taking small things and turn into national stories i don't think we need to change
immigration policy because a guy in ohio killed the duck if he did right exactly so so uh anyway
like i said it was the video of the original arrest is based upon up the woman i don't need to say her
name i yeah she stumped uh so yeah it looks like like her her case has been in combined with
Facebook rumors about Haitians eating pets, and somehow it got from that woman's arrest was
August 21st, so it has been a couple weeks, but somehow in the last couple days, that story
spied onto a different story and made it to the Twitter feeds of America's most powerful
politicians, including potentially the next vice president of the United States, who will almost
certainly be the president, because Donald Trump has his brains on this last, like last mile or two.
All right.
But as far as how this stuff goes, let's take a look at this photo.
Here's a guy carrying a goose, if you got this photo.
producer Laura.
This was taken by a redditor and posted a couple days ago, no, on July 28th, sorry.
This is a guy, he posted to a forum, a Columbus, Ohio forum, and says, things you see in Columbus.
He just thought it was a funny picture.
It's a guy walking, carrying a goose.
Right.
I have no idea if the guy is Haitian.
He's not in Springfield, by the way.
Again, he's in Columbus.
Yeah, I would say the odd.
Black man with a goose.
Right.
Yeah.
Which is why he thought the picture was funny.
It's a guy carrying around a goose.
We don't even know if the goose is dead or not in the picture.
It looks like it probably is.
I think it's probably dead.
Again, dude, me, the way I am, everything I've ever learned and known about geese,
I just assume this goose started some shit and this guy finished it.
That's what I think, because they'll do that.
They'll run up on you.
And I look at this and I'm like, yeah, you shouted that motherfucker.
That's what I think.
So then this went viral on the right-wing internet, even though this was no
in no way the guy who posted its original intent.
We probably didn't have a society-wide discussion
about posting candid photos of strangers
because we never know how they're going to be used.
That's so true.
And I want to quote those like,
Reddit or dragged into my,
here's a headline for you,
Reddard or dragged into migrant pet eating theories
thanks to photo of man with a goose
lashes out of J.D. Vance.
We have a guy, a shit poster on Reddit
who's dragging J.D. Vance for being irresponsible
on the internet.
Mm-hmm.
Right?
Yeah.
And what a 2024 headline that is also.
So, truly an incredible timeline we live in.
Let me quote the guy.
Apparently, my picture has been hijacked by right wing media.
I think it's awful that right wingerers, including Ohio's Republican Senator,
will take a random picture from the internet and use as a weapon to further their agenda.
The garbage they're spreading has been completely debunked, yet they continue to spread it.
Thank you, Reddit.
Which is like, this is exceedingly bleak.
And we'd be, I want to be blunt here.
This is fucking Nazi blood level shit.
all right
they're trying to like say that these people are animals right who uh who deserved to
be put down and the minute somebody shoots up a Haitian you know house or community
center or church service or whatever they're going to act like they had no intention of
making this happen what's the whole point of this fucking shit right and I don't that happens
it'll probably be like what were they transgender I imagine the shooter was transgender
they'll look into that they'll say the shooter was trans or they'll say that like they'll say
that will like our rhetoric had no impact
on this but obviously people have real concerns
that are expressed by this guy's violent outbursts
that's what they'll then nothing ever sticks to them like
this is insane to me
and it's like it's important to note here
like Jack Pasebic
the right wing influencer wrote a book called
Unhumans and the book is basically
what the title like Unhumans exactly what you think
it is. It
has racist and fascist
and false attacks on Haitians
depicts the Haitian revolution as
a result of voodoo and animal sacrifice
which are cast as precursors to the slaughter of white people.
The book has a forward written by J.D. Vance.
So when I say J.D. Vance is the fucking Nazi piece of shit.
I'm not just saying that hypothetically.
He wrote a preface a forward for a Nazi fucking book about how brown people are unhuman.
Right.
Also, like, Haitians, I mean, they did slaughter a bunch of white people.
It was the French slave owners who took over their land for, you know,
who enslaved them in Haiti for years and years.
And they did that successfully.
and took their land back,
but then got fucking cornered by the French
and the rest of the Western world
into having to pay for launching their own revolution
as you winning their own revolution
and had really just no chance ever since that happened.
If they only thought they had to lose
if he put back in the chains, that'd have been free, right?
But like, yeah, they killed their slave masters.
What would you do to your slave master?
What would you do to the guy who's raped five generations of your family?
Like, I don't understand what people have people
think we're supposed to react.
These are just like, these are, I wish we'd have to take these people seriously because
they're jokes of human beings.
They're like really unsurious, except when it comes to trying to get people killed and
then they're deadly fucking serious.
Like, they, so we need to like take AI in the woods and beat it to death with a hammer.
Because the main thing it's being used for right now is shit like this.
Here's an image that John, John Jr. posted this was created by AI, if you got this,
a producer Laura.
Yeah, Donald Trump.
riding a cat carrying an AR while other kittens look on.
I don't think that so much.
With Haitians.
They're all doing this.
Ted Cruz made a fucking,
made an AI meme about like cats not one to be.
It was two precious cats hugging each other and saying,
protect us,
vote Republican or something like that.
Right.
Mike Collins,
but this might have been infuriated the most.
Here's what he tweeted,
if you can throw this up there pretty slow.
They're in the park,
grab it up ducks by the neck,
eating them. That school shooting last week was in Mike Collins fucking district.
And this tweet about that. Probably the, I don't know if you're seeing, they, like, there was a,
there was a segment of CNN story that said that the shooter was, uh, his father said he'd been
bullied and been called gay, which has no bearing in his actual sexuality. That's what everyone
called, it's what teenage boys always call each other. And it said, and the CNN article said he was
angered by trans acceptance, meaning he'd hated trans people and been, he'd been, um, he'd been, um,
you know,
radicalized on the internet.
They took that,
pretend that it said
he was mad about
trans not acceptance
and just screencapped it
like it read something different
and said that the shooter was trans.
Right.
All right.
So like again,
does reality exist anymore?
I don't fucking know.
We're running a little bit behind
so we'll skip the Cirque Sullawa video,
Laura.
So like the thing that drives me crazy about this
and I think we're talking about
the Russian disinformation campaign
where they paid a bunch of losers
there's $10 million to say dumb shit they're going to say anyway.
It's like, I think we're talking about that on Friday.
But like, you want to blame the politicians and the right way media dipshits who spread
this stuff, this racist slop, this AI garbage, this fake made-up stories.
But the harder part to deal with is that millions and millions of people want to see this
shit, want to read it, want to believe it.
Right.
And I don't know what to do about that.
They're begging to be brainwashed.
That's very true.
I feel like, and I'm talking out of my ass a little bit here,
but I feel like for years and you're,
do peasants were dumb as fuck.
A bunch of like,
much of our ancestors who came over here as immigrants in the fucking 17,
1800s,
whatever,
they couldn't read.
They didn't know shit,
right?
So like you've always dealt with like,
fearful,
uneducated masses.
But I feel like for a while there in this country's history,
there were sources of information that were,
were you know accepted as being true you know what I mean like news was actually news it wasn't
fox news there were trusted sources of information people those people looked to you know
people who knew stuff and they listened to them like I really feel like that was maybe I'm
overstating it I don't know because I didn't live through that but I really feel like that's
we had dumber we have way more way dumber people for way long way longer but they didn't
they weren't they weren't like inundated endlessly with this seemingly reputable flood of
disinformation that confirmed all of their worst fears and biases in the first place you know what I mean
like I just feel like that didn't happen as much in the past I just don't think anyone ever
conceived of a reality of like a free speech and debate sort of culture where like
people would voluntarily self-propagandize
do you know what I'm saying where you would have you would have the choice of
consumer reality or bullshit and just prefer the bullshit and like
but also the time you're talking about their dumb masses were dumber
they also weren't allowed to vote I'm not I'm not arguing I'm not making the
fucking J.D. Vance of Peter Theo argument that people are too stupid to vote
but people are aggressively making themselves too stupid to vote on purpose
and that's that is a problem the internet makes people able to do this
to a degree. I don't know.
That's exactly right. That's exactly what it is.
Like I used to have a bit about this over. I was like, dude, dumb people did not
used to have a voice at all. They, like, they couldn't read.
Dumb people couldn't even read. Like now, not only can they read, they can tweet.
They can find each other. They can congregate and prop each other up, you know?
And it's like, that's the fucking problem.
You know, they'll read that a mass shooter was mad about trans acceptance.
and pretend it reads that he's mad about trans non-acceptance
and flip it on its head
and incorrectly read it on purpose
when they do know how to read.
That's the part that's fucking infuriating to me.
And like, there was another viral video this week
in the right-wing internet with this guy
who's also from, it says he's in a small town in Ohio.
He does this story.
He goes, my daughter enrolled in my four-year-old grandson
into preschool last week.
I live in small town, Ohio.
They tell her that she has to hire a translator
with her own money in order to send him to preschool
because he's the only student
that doesn't speak Spanish.
I cannot tell you the degree
to which that is a thousand percent
not fucking happening.
Right.
And he says it
and a bunch of people
are like, yep, I knew it.
And it's like,
what the fuck are you guys talking about, man?
Like, all you got to do
is go outside.
Right.
Like, go down to any single school.
Like, you wonder,
like you read about the history
of moral panics and stuff
like the Salem Witch Trials
and you wonder how like
some guy could walk into
into like a medieval village
and say you saw,
a man. It was half sheep destroying
the winter barley supply. And it ends up
with a half dozen stonings. You're like, well, that's
fucking stupid. We're living through it right now.
Well, see, it's because I don't wonder
why that happens. Like, they used to walk
into a pub with a bunch of other illiterate
dumbasses and say some shit
that freaked them all out. And they were like, we can't
have that. Light the fucking torches.
But now, the internet
is the pub. Do you know what I mean?
Like, the internet is that pub. They can all
find each other globally,
internationally and everything. And
prop each other up like I was saying and it's like it's that shit existed back then but the mechanisms
for like propagating it were not there the way that they are now these people couldn't find
each other they weren't given the credence they are now and that's what's fucking us up and I don't know
what to I don't know what to do about it but it's bad news yeah yeah and so I hope all these
Haitian immigrants survive and live okay because like again going back to like I made a list here
of all the fucked up shit that we like just just starting with the 90s but like the
1991 coup in Haiti.
It's not clear how much
U.S. government was involved,
but the coup leaders
did train in the United States.
I mentioned the
2020 assassination of
juvenile Moisei.
I'm sorry, I'm fucking
up pronouncing his name.
I apologize.
So this part,
before his assassination,
Moise had been
working to expose
the corrupt politicians
and business people
who were involved in the illegal
drug trade
by passing the information
to the United States.
I think
I think I found your mistake, buddy.
Can you imagine to be, like, call up the CIA and be like, hey, man, there's high-level
people involved in the Caribbean and South American politics doing legal drug trafficking.
The CIA is like, no, what?
Right.
He's not a lot he's dead three days later.
So this is just, yeah.
And like, the fact that, like, there's no, like, there's nobody out here defending these
people outside of us, maybe, and a few people on the internet, like, you're not going to see
any high-level damn wait into this issue because they can't.
Because back when we were talking about Biden cracking down on the border, I was making the point you're not leaving any rhetorical space for themselves to defend to defend to defend actual immigrants.
Because they bought into immigration being a crisis and their basic pitch is like, we'll also crack down hard, but more competently and slightly more humanely.
But having the fact that they've actually led in a bunch of Venezuelans and led in a bunch of Haitians and with policies that are humane and good for towns like Springfield and the aggregate.
and they like who's out here making the case for having a society where is that person because
when the mayor says we don't have enough ESL teachers to deal with this influx of Haitian
Haitian kids someone has to be out there to explain well it's good for Haitian kids to be able
to learn English to catch up with their English speaking you know classmates so the whole
class isn't held back but also it's good for the community to have everyone be educated it's better
off for everybody because people will have a what would pay more taxes there will be less crime
like it's like who's who's who's arguing for the continued existence of society i don't
where is this person yeah i don't know man well i think society is one thing we think of something
different and we're right and they're wrong what are you going to do either way listen y'all
