A Dear Media Production
In a world of ever-changing
wellness trends and information, what does it mean to truly be well? I'm Ariel Lorry and I'm going
to explore this with you. I am bringing you candid conversations that will equip you with everything
you need to live your best life and look good doing it. Think of well as your go-to resource for all of the
latest in wellness and me as your internet bestie. Well, let's get into it. Hi, everybody. Welcome to
the show, welcome to the body and routines episode. That's right. We are talking all of the health and body and
routine things so that we can get spring and summer ready looking and feeling our best.
I was actually going to do the body and beauty episode, but I got so many questions about both things.
So I'm going to break it up. I'm going to do a beauty episode as well as my next solo. No, we won't be talking
about Botox, we'll be talking all the things that we can do to look our best. But I know you're
probably thinking, don't you always say that you don't have rigid routines and like,
you're not the person who's going to tell us exactly what we are going to do. Yes,
historically, that has been me. I always say, like, if you want to come here for specific
instructions, I am not that person. But I have to say that with consistency in habits, like, I have
been feeling so good lately, knock on wood. And some things that I've done have just made such
a huge difference for me. And I want to share what is working. And then you guys can take what
you want and you can leave what you don't want. So first, let's see. I will just give some life
updates because when I did the Q&A on Instagram, there were a lot of different question themes
mainly around like my house, which is going to be finished in the next few weeks, which is crazy.
People did want to know about the mast cell activation situation, symptoms, management.
That can be its own episode for people who are interested in that. I'm not going to get too
much into it here. And then I also had a lot of relationship questions. So I feel like we have some
good themes for future solo episodes. And if people are interested in like mass cells and histamine
issues. I'm definitely open to bringing some experts on there because it seems to be so
prevalent, which is really crazy to me, but maybe just because social media, more people are
aware of it. I think that, you know, it definitely has to do with exposures that we have, chemical,
toxic exposures, maybe an accumulation of all of those things. Our immune systems have just gotten
extremely sensitive. So anyway, so that beauty episode, relationship episode, we have some good
themes for the future. So let me know what you guys want to hear. But I feel like I have spoken
quite a bit about what it was like emotionally when I went through my separation in 2022.
And then you guys know I got back together with my ex. And then it was pretty clear that it was
not working. And then we eventually got divorced. And then how I met my boyfriend,
all of that. But it's just crazy because it seems like so many people are in.
in limbo or feel stuck in unfulfilling relationships. Whenever I do Q&A, I get so many questions about
how to make that change, how to get out of the comfort zone of like the okay relationship,
how to leave when you know that you're not totally fulfilled or you know that it's not the right
relationship, but you have fear of the unknown. And two things. One, I have so much empathy
for you because I know that that's so, so, so difficult and so hard.
and especially when it's not black and white and you're in a relationship with a really good person, it's hard to let that person go. I say this all the time. But somebody said to me, sometimes you can be with a great person and it's not the right person for you. And you have to put them back on the shelf for somebody else to enjoy. You have to really be selfless. I mean, you don't have to. You can do whatever you want. But that really changed my perspective. Also, I would say listen to Dr. Margie Worrell's episode from last week all about taking the leap, having
courage, overcoming fear, whether it's your relationship, your career, some kind of personal
goal, whatever it is that you want to do. It was so inspiring. And if you're feeling stuck in a
relationship or elsewhere in your life, go back and listen to that. It's not shameless self-promotion.
I mean, she is just incredible. And I know that it's an episode that I'm going to go back to
myself whenever I feel stuck. That was more than two things. But somebody asked how I finally made
the decision to leave when I was in that place myself. And while I won't share too much,
I will say that, you know, it was mutual at the time when we made the decision. But for me,
it was when the thought of things staying the same was scarier than the unknown. And you know if
you're at that point. I remember people would suggest trying something different. Like maybe try more
therapy. Try doing this. Try doing that. And I was like,
my God, I had a visceral reaction to that because I knew that that wasn't the right thing. And as hard as it
was because I loved my ex and I was just like, it was just so hard. I just knew that it wasn't fair to
either of us. I didn't want to steal his time. So going off on a tangent, how did I even get here?
Oh, because I had so many relationship questions and it seems like so much of my audience is stuck in limbo.
And it also kind of ties into the house questions. So my house is almost done. And the big question that I keep
getting is, will I move out of my boyfriend's house into my house and live there alone? The answer to that is no. Absolutely not. When I bought the
house, I couldn't have anticipated that we would be where we are today. You know, we were like crazy in love from the
beginning and very future oriented. But honestly, with the house, I felt like I had to do it.
for myself. So something that really stuck with me when I got separated first in 2022 and then when
we finally got divorced a few years later, I had this feeling of like if I only had my own place,
it would make the whole thing feel so much less destabilizing. My ex had a few homes that we
lived between, but they were his. They weren't mine. And I didn't want them to be mine. And I didn't
feel entitled to them after, you know, only five years of marriage. But I just remembered this
feeling of like, I need to have my own place that nobody can take away from me. And when we first
separated in the beginning of 2022, I looked at houses to buy. And even when we were kind of working
on things and it looked like we were going to get back together, I still felt like I was maybe
going to buy a house and just have it. Maybe that's a bad sign. But,
obviously I didn't buy anything. And then when I got divorced last year, I saw this house shortly
after I got divorced. And I think that I had that in the back of my mind. Like, be a big girl,
have your own thing. I can live there or not. But at least I would have this. And it would
create some kind of stability in my mind, I guess. And I don't know. The funny thing is I love
living with Chris and I shared here that, you know, we've been looking at other places. We look
at a place in Miami and we're thinking about that, but I don't feel like I need to have my own
place as much to have that security. It seemed to be like very situational to my last relationship.
But at this point, after all the time and energy and everything that I've put into the house,
I'm just going to enjoy it, see how it feels living there. We don't really have a plan. It's really
just to like kind of live between our houses. It's not very well thought out. But I think the
solution will present itself. So we might love being at my house and just want to be there. Or,
you know, we might be like, this is nice, or I might feel like this is nice, but, you know,
we're really settled at the other house and it doesn't make sense to have multiple homes or we'll
keep them both. Maybe I'll rent it out. I don't know. I have a feeling that I'm going to get in there
and love it so much because it's so customized to me and it's such a just beautiful house.
great for entertaining. Like, it's just a sanctuary. So anyway, but no, the answer to that question,
if I will be there alone, is no, for any potential burglars, there will not be only my boyfriend,
but also tons of security with neighborhood security, a dog eventually. I'm not moving any of my
valuables in. Okay. So just putting that out there because LA is crazy right now. But yeah,
I'm really excited. It's such a great spring and summer house. I'm really excited. It's such a great spring and summer house.
haven't shown like the grounds or anything but it's so beautiful there's citrus trees everywhere
landscaping very like indoor outdoor vibes so yeah very excited about that and let's see the last
thing before i get into the body and the routines of it all just to keep you guys updated here is
the mcast's update so i've shared about this before in previous solo episodes this year but
mastel activation i really think that it's a spectrum some people have it so
so, so severely and it can be extremely debilitating. I definitely feel like I was in that very
debilitating zone for many months. And all of this started like after I got sick after having
Botox. And yeah, for months it was really horrible. And then I was, you know, officially diagnosed
by an immunologist at Cedars based on my symptoms and based on my blood work. And I've been working
with her. I've been working with a naturopath and then also with my acupuncturist and kind of
attacking it from multiple angles and also changing lifestyle things like eating low histamine. And I've
been doing really, really, really well. Again, I'm like so superstitious because it's been so
horrible, but I've been doing really well except for usually just after my period and just before my
period when estrogen tends to really mess with my body and it increases histamine and makes
me really sensitive. So people have asked for the specific protocol, which I've been hesitant to share
because we all react so differently to antihistamines, but I seem to have found the combo that
is really working for me in addition to mass cell stabilizers from my doctor and some herbs.
And like I said, lifestyle changes. And I was going to get more into this in this episode,
but I know that a lot of people really don't care. But yeah, I feel like.
You know, I'm healing. I live my life. I don't live in a bubble. And I am feeling pretty good. In this
episode, I'm talking all about healthy habits and routines and how we are looking and feeling our
best come summer. Sometimes you need a little bit of extra help, which is where Roe comes in. So if you want a

It is no secret that misleading health advice and nutrition advice is everywhere right now,
and so much of what we know about food is wrong, especially when it comes to our diets.
I think a lot of us tend to follow what other people are doing, and it's not necessarily the best thing for us.
And this is where Zoe comes in. So Zoe is backed by one of the world's largest microbiome databases and the most scientifically advanced at-home gut health test.
So Zoe gives you proven science whenever you need it. So we all know that gut health is key to our overall well-being. And with Zoe, you can take this at-home gut health test. It's one of the most advanced in the world. Scientists have identified 50.
50 gut microbes associated with positive health outcomes and 50 link to negative ones.
And you do this test and then Zoe provides you with detailed results so you can understand
exactly what is happening in your gut.
Zoe's app creates a tailored program based on your unique results, guiding you step by step
with recipes, meal plans, and food scores to help you make consistent progress.
So you're not just blindly doing what other people are doing.
The cool thing is there are clinical trials that have shown that Zoe's personalized
nutrition program works. So when you are eating the right foods for your body, you can feel healthier
in weeks and build better habits for life. With regular testing, Zoe helps you track your gut health
and ensures that your advice stays up to date. And as a Zoe member, you will get an at-home

I truly believe that financial health and wellness is a huge part of our overall well-being.
It's hard to do the things to look and feel your best if you are not feeling secure financially.
And you put so much time and effort into earning money, you deserve to spend it without
stress or second-guessing.
This is where Wynab comes in.
Wynab spelled Y-N-A-B is truly a life-changing app that has.
helps you do what you want with the money that you have. You basically create a flexible plan for
your money through the simple practice of giving every dollar a job keeping you focused on the life that
you want. So unlike other apps where you're really strictly budgeting, I think that Wynab is like
a spendfulness app. So instead of putting money away and being really stringent, you are just
constantly moving money around and allocating it where you want to allocate it. So whether that's
covering your rent and building an emergency fund without sacrificing dinner,
with friends or you really want to take that trip or buy that pair of shoes, you just give
your money a job and you stop wondering where your money goes and start deciding where it will
take you. 92% of users report feeling less money stress since using Wynab. The average
wineab users save $600 in their first month and $6,000 in their first year. So life is short,
spend it with Wynab. Listeners of Well can claim an exclusive three-month free trial with no credit

Hi, I'm Moshe Kacher and I
would like you to meet my thick-ass thing.
I guess that's me.
I'm Natasha Legerra.
We are comedians and we're married and we do a
relationship and life advice show called
the Endless Honeymoon Podcast and here's the
exciting part. We want to advise
you. We're in no judgment zone
so anything you want to ask about, it's
All good. Yes, send us your questions to Endless Honeymoon Pod at Gmail and tune in to the Endless
Honeymoon podcast on Apple, Spotify, YouTube, or wherever you like to listen. Okay, so let's start with
the body stuff. What do I mean by body? I'm just going to be talking about eating, nutrition,
exercise, routines, bloating, all of that stuff. So I think the best place to start here is with my
morning routine. This incorporates some beauty as well. But you guys, I know I am not typically a
rigid morning routine person. I really like to ease into my day, and I still do. But I have some
guardrails in place that have really positively impacted literally my whole life. And I was really
inspired as well by Ariana Medazade Wellness Farm, who was on my podcast two weeks ago.
Go back and listen to that episode. So many amazing tips. But we
We recorded, I think at the beginning of the year, it just kind of woke me up to the fact that I was not treating my body well with the way that I was starting my day previously. So what I'm doing now, I wake up, I tongue scrape. This is huge. Okay. So it removes like that buildup from the night. And I've heard that it's things that our body is trying to push out. I think that's kind of the idea behind it. I don't really know the science if there is any, but basically instead of waking up and
swallowing all of that. I scrape my tongue right away and brush my teeth. At the very least,
my breath is better, right? But I do weirdly feel like it makes a big difference. Then I start on my water.
So I like to drink a liter of water like before, I don't know, nine or ten o'clock in the morning.
Because sometimes as I go through the day, I start to forget or I don't know. So at least I feel like
that way I'm getting around half of the water that I would aim to get throughout the
day. So I start drinking. I get in front of the sun or natural light either outside if it's warm
enough or by the window. And then I immediately do my Wim Hof 10 minute breath work. It's three rounds of
holotropic breathing. It's something that I've done off and on for years. But now doing it first thing
with that sunlight and fresh air, if I can get the fresh air, game changer. If you only have 10 minutes in the
morning, try this. Okay, I'm going to link it on my, I'm trying to think, where should I put this? I will
make a post for this episode. Maybe we can link it in the show notes too so that you guys can
easily access it. But I'm telling you, if you have 10 minutes, sit in front of a window and try
this and let me know how it goes for you. I feel like it's such a game changer. I feel like I'm
oxygenating all of my cells, my lungs, which from like a Chinese medicine perspective is so
important. It helps to calm my nervous system. It energizes me. It's so quick. You know,
I don't always feel like sitting there and doing a 20-minute TM Transcendental Meditation,
although I do that as well sometimes. But that's first. So that's sunlight,
fresh air, if possible, 10 minute breath work, tongue scraping water. Okay? Hope you guys are with me.
Then if I have time after I wash my face, I'll do a quick guasha. And by quick, I mean like five
minutes. There's a five minute video on YouTube that I follow. I will also find that and share it on
the well Instagram. Then I wash my face. Then I will do 10 minutes of red light. So here we are. Sounds like
so much, right? But we're only at about 25 minutes into my morning. So I usually wake up at 6.30.
So now we're around 7 o'clock, right? So 6.30, 10 minute Wimhoff, 5 minute guasha,
wash my face, 10 minute red light. This is not every single morning, obviously, with the red light,
at least, and the guasha, but I try to squeeze it in if I can. So we're like 25, 30 minutes into the
morning. So we're around 7 o'clock. By the way, I'm off my phone this entire time, except
for obviously following the Wimhoff or the Guasha thing, but I'm not like checking email,
text, social, nothing like that. Honestly, I try not to even look at it when I'm doing that stuff
and I hate to say it, but it's also a game changer. You know that this has been a struggle of
mine for a long time. I have a terrible habit of reaching from my phone and getting right into
work, email, text, social, like editing. I like to edit as soon as I wake up because I have a lot
of ideas, but this is really, really, really, really helping with the nervous system. Okay, so we are
around 7 a.m. I'm doing the rest of my skincare, which takes a couple minutes, and then I will
eat something like some chicken or some oats. And then I've been doing 30-minute workouts almost daily
unless I'm working out with a trainer. So I love Forma online Pilates or honestly, if you want to get the most bang for your buck, I still do obey fitness because they have so many workouts of all kinds. I worked with them years ago. I was not familiar with them prior to that. I think that people get wary whenever I'm like partnered with anybody and they think that it's just an ad. But I always say this. I only partner with people, brands, companies that I actually use or really love. So I'm,
I have been loving obey because they have an, oh, by the way, I don't work with them anymore.
This is not sponsored. They just have so many workouts. So I'll do sculpt, I'll do Pilates, I'll do yoga
sculpt. I can just search by how much time I have or how much time I feel like I can work out.
So like 30 minutes or if I want to add on a 10 minute thing to the 30 minutes or I only have 15
minutes or by equipment, I like to use hand and ankle weights and resistant bands. So that's the
It's like till 7.30, right? So that's my 630 to 7.30 a.m. routine or say 7 to 8 if I sleep a little bit later. So I'm really packing in a lot, but I'm off my phone. I'm moving my body. I'm hydrating. I am calming my nervous system, detoxifying, whatever, like getting so much in. So then once I'm done with all of that, I have so much energy and I feel clear and I feel ready for the day. At that point, I feel like I don't even need matcha anymore.
but I still have a little bit because I enjoy the ritual of it and of course the flavor. And I do notice that when I wait to do all of that and sometimes honestly I start work and I don't have my macha for a few hours, it just hits different. It's not as like anxiety inducing. It doesn't give me a huge spike or burst of energy. It's just like a little extra alertness and clarity and my energy throughout the day and my appetite throughout the day is so much more consistent. It's so much less around.
when I start my morning like this and I will get to appetite and energy and all of that.
So since I mentioned it, we'll do workout split and what I eat in a day. So I was really skinny
last year because I had no appetite from all of the awful symptoms from the Botox poisoning.
I wasn't working out at all. So I was just thin. I'm naturally petite to begin with. But add in
not having an appetite, muscle atrophy, all of that, I looked really thin. Now that I'm feeling better
most of the time. I really want to get strong and toned and I want to build back muscle because it's so
protective as we age. It's also anti-aging. And I just want to be healthy. You know, I think we take our
health for granted. And what I dealt with is, you know, nothing on the scale of what other people
deal with. And still, when you feel like suddenly you don't have your health, you really
yearn for that. And I would see other people like working out and post-work out. And I would see other people like working out and
post workout and I was just like, oh, God, I just missed that feeling of being able to do that.
So, you know, now I feel like I'm most driven by that, that feeling, like the feeling that I get
when I work out and when I'm done with a workout. And then also the vanity. So I'm training once a
week doing some weights and resistance for an hour with my boyfriend and his trainer. Then I'm doing like
four days a week of 30-minute low-impact sculpt type workouts like I just told you. And,
And I'm also starting next week to train with a new trainer.
So I think once I start with her, then my split will be like two days a week with the new trainer,
one day a week with the boyfriend and his trainer.
So three days a week of like strength, conditioning, weight type stuff.
Then I'll probably do two days a week of low impact 30 minute workouts at home.
And then just daily walks because I schedule all of my calls and Zoom meetings for
midday, like late morning to midday when I can go for a walk and get some steps in. I don't track,
but I still aim to just not be sedentary, basically, and walk when and where I can. The caveat here is
that I do notice when I work out too much, I get puffy. I know that this is something that so many
of you experience as well, because when I had Harley on January 1st, I think it was. Great episode,
if you haven't listened. A lot of the questions that I got were about lifting weights, strength
training, conditioning, and how a lot of women feel like they get puffy as a result of that. And he
had an answer as to why that happens. And I can't remember what it was, but I noticed that it
happens with me, even with low impact stuff, even if I'm walking 10,000 steps a day every
single day and then throwing in some 30-minute workouts, I can find that I do tend to get puffy.
So sometimes I need to scale back there. But if I notice it's happening, I'll scale back the at-home workouts and just do
like three days a week with a trainer and then walk the other days. Chris is getting on a health
kick too now. So it's good to like have that buddy and have that accountability when we're under
the same roof. And we have like six weeks in Europe this summer. So going to be on that pasta and
sleeping in diet and probably not working out that much. So going to get it in now. Try to create
these healthy habits. I do love working out on vacation. So we'll see. But that is.
the workout plan right now. And I really do find, and if you struggle with that feeling of getting
puffy, try scaling back, try taking more rest days, try two rest days instead of one. I think that
as women, we tend to think that more is more, especially when it comes to working out. Like more
workouts will get more results. And I find for me, and we're all different, that there's a really
delicate balance here and sometimes less is more. Since we're going over habits and routines,
specifically my morning routine, let's get into more of the nitty gritty when it comes to my breakfast.
So you guys know that I love to have my protein, either oat or yogurt bowl. So it's high
protein. I like to add some fruit. But then I also always need to add something for a little bit of
crunch, and for years, my go-to has been purely Elizabeth Grinola. Many of you likely heard
Elizabeth on my show. She talked about how she wanted to create obsession-worthy foods full of
better-for-you ingredients and culinary taste. So she created her delicious granola with these
crunchy clusters, ancient grains, and superfoods to help make good choices easier. So she is a
certified holistic nutrition counselor and health coach. She's always intentional about selecting the
nourishing ingredients that go into each purely Elizabeth product, and she settles for nothing
short of delicious. So what I love, aside from all of the amazing flavors and just the overall
taste, of course, is that her products are made with ancient grains, superfood seeds, and they
contain no artificial flavors. All of her products are certified gluten-free. They have plenty of
non-GMO, vegan, and keto-friendly options. And like I said, tons of granola flavors to choose from.
They have flavors like chocolate sea salt.
They have blueberry hemp, vanilla almond butter, which is one of my favorites.
But I have to say my overall favorite is just the OG original ancient grain granola.
One bite, and I know that you are going to be just as obsessed as I am with the granola.
Like I said, I add it to my yogurt or my oat bowl.
I also will just snack on it periodically.
And sometimes I'll have a little bit with my macadamia or almond milk as a little dessert before I go to bed.
So no matter what time of day it is, I am making a healthy choice because with organic oats and ancient
grains and those superfood seeds like chia, kina, and amaranth, I'm also getting a healthy dose of fiber.
It's certified USDA organic and so, so good. So right now, visit purelyelisabeth.com and use the code
well at checkout for 20% off. Purely Elizabeth, taste the obsession. So as I mentioned in this episode,
I love to start my day with protein. In fact, it's a total necessity for me. And what I typically eat is either a protein yogurt bowl or a protein oat bowl. And I add protein powder to this. However, you guys may have seen the studies that came out that tested over 160 products from over 70 brands representing 83% of the market. And they had a lot of contaminants in them, over 200, including heavy metals, pesticides,
things that you don't want to be ingesting ever and not to mention on a daily basis. So this is
why I love Puri. Puri is the only brand in the protein powder category with the Clean Label
Project Transparency Certificate. So every batch is tested by the Clean Label Project for more than 200
different contaminants. And you can scan the QR code on your bottle to see the test results for your
specific batch, which is amazing. And it just contains amazing, minimally processed, clean, high

on the market today. It is so saturated and most skincare products pretty much focused on surface
level results, whereas one skin, which was founded and led by an all-woman team of skin longevity
scientists, goes way deeper working at a cellular level for lasting results. After testing more
than 900 peptides, they developed OS1, which is the first ingredient scientifically proven
to interrupt a core aging process called cellular senescence. So with age and UV exposure, your cells
enter senescence, meaning they stop functioning normally, they stop rejuvenating and producing
collagen and elastin, and they release harmful inflammatory chemicals, which cause neighboring cells
to become dysfunctional, kicking off a domino effect in the skin causing your age to skin faster,
things like deeper wrinkles, thinner skin, more sagging and creepiness, all of these things
that we do not want. So OS1 switches off these senescent cells addressing the root cause of
skin aging, helping your skin stay younger and healthier. So I have been using the eye peptide and I
absolutely love it. In fact, I was talking to somebody who is very knowledgeable in the skincare world,
especially in the world of formulation. And she said that the only eye product that she actually
likes is One Skin's OS1 eye peptide. So I've noticed a huge reduction in just the fine lines and
crepiness around my eyes, which you guys probably know is such a tricky area. So right now you can

You guys can try the eye peptide, but I love all of their products again. That's oneskin.co

the question here was, what are you eating to stay lean and feel your best? So this is very specific to
me because I'm still eating low histamine pretty strictly. But branching out a little bit, I'm starting
to incorporate more foods that are not on a strictly low histamine elimination diet and eating out more and
not being as stringent with it. But I have to say, the low histamine diet really made such a huge
difference for me. It was like a missing puzzle piece for my whole life. For example, I love tomatoes.
I love pasta. I love pasta with cherry tomatoes.
I love tomato sauce. Okay, you get it. Tomatoes in any form. I love eggplant. It's one of my favorite
foods. My whole life, every single time I ate tomatoes or eggplant, my top lip would swell up.
And I would wake up the next day. My eyes would be red and bloodshot and puffy. Sometimes I would get
these little like rash patches on my face. My stomach might be off. And of course, those are two really
high histamine foods. And it didn't really affect me throughout my life other than that. Also,
with like non-steroidal anti-inflammatory. Like Advil, same thing would happen. My top lip would swell.
But I always just kind of brushed it off and didn't think much of it because, you know, it wasn't
anything that impacted my daily life. It was just something that I noticed. Like, huh. Or even if I was
eating eggplant, I was like, oh, I know that I'm going to get the swollen lip. And I know that my
mouth is going to get super itchy and I might wake up with a rash tomorrow. But I never made the connection.
So cutting out those and other high histamine foods like ground meat.
That was another thing that I ate a ton of like ground turkey all the time.
And then I would have it as leftovers.
And FYI, there's nothing wrong with any of these foods.
But they can tend to be higher in histamine.
So I was eating a ton of that.
And whenever I would have my turkey bowls, my hands would start aching like the joints.
So bad.
And chocolate, unfortunately.
A lot of seafood.
Like eliminating all of these things.
and I still have leftovers, but I freeze them right away, which has made a huge difference because
then the histamine doesn't accumulate, whereas if you're just putting it in the fridge, it does.
It's really, really calmed my body down. The joint pain is gone. Knock on wood. Again, paranoid.
The joint pain is gone. The really crippling anxiety is gone. And this is because histamine is like a
neurotransmitter. So it can cause this feeling of like unrelenting anxiety. And also it can cause
inflammation. So that obviously has a cascade effect. But all of these things have been a lot better.
So, you know, who knows? It's like it could be the diet. It could be the meds. I'm on a plethora of
medication. I'm on herbs. I'm on supplements. It's probably a combo of all of that. But, you know,
I'll take it. So, okay, what am I eating? I wake up. I have a few Brazil nuts or
academia nuts after I've had my water. Sometimes I'll do celery juice or veggie only green juice,
but not a ton, like only about eight ounces. Then I will either do some chicken in the morning.
I know a lot of people are like, ugh, I could never. I get it. Sometimes I can do it. Sometimes I
can't. Or just oats with some way protein, blueberries, seeds, sometimes nut butter. And that keeps me
satiated until lunch, which lately has been either like chicken thighs that I make in the instant
pot and some vegetables and some rice or sweet potato or my spring rolls that I posted on
Instagram. I mean, oh my God, those are like my favorite thing. I think I ate those exclusively
for lunch and dinner every single day for like two weeks. And the macros are pretty good. I don't
track or anything like that, but I did look just to gauge, you know, how much I was consuming when it
came to carbs. And it's only like 30 carbs for four rolls. And then I stuff it with chicken and
veggies. And it's high protein, high fiber, relatively low carb. I would cook it in oil. So some
healthy fat there. Just chef's kiss. So good. And then my snack will maybe be like veggies with some
olive oil or salt, some sweet potato chips from this brand sweet potato awesome. I think I shared about
it on my last solo. I'm obsessed with them. They're,
just freeze-dried and so good. Or I'll have like rice cakes or pistachios, apples, things like that.
And then dinner is usually chicken again. It's hard to find non-aged meat, but I finally found some
at the farmer's market. Aged meat tends to be higher in histamine. So incorporating more of that,
I am starting to do seafood again. For veggies, I like to do broccoli or zucchini, rice, sweet
potato. You know, sometimes I get creative. I do like stir fry, bowls. So I try to shake
up. I'm not just eating like plain chicken with like plain veggies. No, I can't, can't do that. I live to eat.
And then dessert is this low histamine white chocolate that I've been making. It's insane. It's so good.
Let me know if you want that recipe too and I will post it. And then just tons of water all day and
fresh mint tea after dinner. I feel like this really helps my digestion and my overall symptoms.
I just boil water and add fresh mint leaves. I steep it. You know, I'd always order mint tea after
dinner if I was out or traveling, but making it at home really hits different. And then the last thing here is I'm
done eating by 8 p.m. unless we go out. But even then I try to go out earlier these days. And then I get like
11 to 12 hours for my digestive system to rest if I'm eating breakfast around 7 or 8 in the morning.
Sometimes when I eat in the morning, I'll just have like a little something to get it in my stomach.
And then I'll eat the full breakfast once I'm done working out, getting ready, all of that. So I just
try to do what feels right for me.
The key to staying lean, that was the other part of this question, I have to say protein.
If I'm eating a lot of protein, I do not have cravings for other things and I don't overeat.
It's so hard to overeat if you're eating enough protein.
It doesn't have to be animal protein, whatever kind of diet you follow.
I remember I had Dr. Gabrielle Lyon on my podcast and she said, until your body's protein needs are met, you're going to keep eating.
So I focus on protein first.
I do feel my best with a decent amount of carbs and lower fat.
I think that that's kind of what works for me.
Everybody's different.
I feel like I'm pretty carb efficient, but other people may do better with protein and fat.
Whatever the combo is, try to find what works best for you.
But really pay attention to how much protein you're consuming and adjust that and increase that if you are not getting sufficient.
Some people say your body weight and grams somewhere around there and see if that,
affects your appetite. Okay. What has helped me the most with bloating? So I'm going to sound like a
broken record because I say this whenever I talk about bloating, but honestly, the only time I've
struggled with bloating was when I was restricting or eating more processed health foods to try and be
quote unquote healthy. So I get normal bloating before my period every month I forget and I have
no clue why it's happening. I don't know why we have like period amnesia, but I know that you guys can
relate. And then other than that, luckily I don't really have that issue. So I have that,
obviously if you're experiencing really bad bloating, there are probably underlying things like
dysbiosis, candida, things like that. I was bloated when I had a big ovarian cyst that I had to have
surgically removed hormone fluctuations, obviously. But like chronic bloating for me was really
tied to restrictive behaviors. So again, so boring and not sexy, but a balanced diet,
meaning like protein and fiber, complex carbs, healthy fats, not eating late at night, mint tea,
that really helps to soothe digestion, fresh ginger tea, lots of water, electrolytes, all of these
things help me stay bloat-free. And then there are things that you can take in supplements or that you can
have on their own or have teas like licorice root, slippery elm, aloe vera, things that can help to
soothe blot. But everybody's cause for bloating varies. So if it's really significant and chronic,
I would just honestly do like a stool test and see if there's anything going on. And
look at your diet, look at your eating patterns like, are you eating late? Are you eating while
you're super stressed? Are you not chewing? If I eat really fast and don't chew, I can experience
bloating, things like that. Those are all major contributors. And by the way, sometimes I feel
leaner and like less bloated after a big plate of pasta or fries. So I'm not saying never have
those things. Like I'm not militant about my diet. I would say probably 8020 or 8515,
but you know, everything in moderation.
Okay, weight loss tips and how to feel more energetic. So again, I think the best thing for weight loss is focusing on protein. Like I just said, the quote from Dr. Gabrielle Lyon, we'll keep eating until our protein needs are met, meaning we might be having all kinds of cravings even just to eat mindlessly. And we'll do so until we get enough protein. Not to say that protein is a panacea. And you guys know that I've been preaching about protein for a few years. And it's like,
so trendy and popular and everything is protein. But it really does make a big difference when it
comes to satiety. Same thing with fiber, right? Because fiber and protein are slower to digest. So we feel
full longer. I mean, look at one of the ways that something like O-Zempic works is that it slows down
digestion so people feel full longer. So obviously those medications are also working on
hunger hormones and in the brain. So it's different. But there is a hack to feeling
full and it's protein and fiber and you could even throw some fat in there too. Like my old nutritionist
used to say PFF is your BFF, protein fiber fat. So I personally don't do well with super low or no
carbs. So I do like PFFC, protein fiber fat carbs, which is kind of like duh, that's everything.
It's a balanced meal. But I think I've driven my point home. Also hydration, huge, again,
not groundbreaking, but sometimes we need to be reminded of these very basic things that makes such a
huge difference. I think all of this stuff, nutrition, weight loss, everything is so complicated now,
and it really doesn't have to be. So oftentimes for me, like, especially before I really got on top of
my water intake in the morning, I would start feeling the need to snack all morning. I would just be grazing.
I'd be having a handful of nuts. I'd have some granola. I would have an apple. I would have, you know,
my breakfast as well. I would have a bar. I would go get a smoothie, things like that. None of these things are
inherently bad, by the way. But I would do this so much only to then go drink a little bit of water
and I would be so full. So hydration, protein, extra points for fiber, extra points for high protein in the
morning. When, you know, you're hitting the coffee or doing a really sugary breakfast or you're
just not eating anything at all, you're like placing your body on the top of a pretty erratic
roller coaster. I know there are people who like fasting and advocate for that. That's fine if that works
for you. But what you do in the morning is often going to dictate the rest of your day. So again,
my old nutritionist, Rob Yang, he really was more of like an integrative health coach practitioner
for me, but he shared about this second meal phenomenon. And it was basically whatever you eat
in the morning is what you're going to want to eat later in the day. So if you're having sugary cereal
or pastry or like I'm having this morning pancakes, because you know, you got to live a little bit sometimes.
You're going to be more inclined to want that later. Whereas if you're really stable,
your blood sugar in the morning. That will help you feel more balanced. You'll have a more balanced
appetite throughout the day. You'll have more consistent energy. And as for the having energy part of this
question, again, not to be on my high horse, but like caffeine later in the morning after you've eaten
and hydrated, game changer. If you're drinking caffeine all day, try to cut back to one in the morning,
or like one in the morning, one in the afternoon. Try that to start. I don't get tired later in the day,
but in general if I do, it's either because of something that I ate that made me feel tired,
or I haven't gotten outside enough, or gotten steps in, or I drink too much caffeine.
So I know it's a lot easier for me because I have a lot of autonomy with my schedule most days.
So I can block in calls and, you know, do calls and meetings outside, like I mentioned.
It's different. If you're indoors all day, you don't have a choice. It's hard.
But we do the best we can with what we've got. So again, energy hacks aside from like the morning,
getting electrolytes, add electrolytes to your water. Being dehydrated, being depleted of
electrolytes will make me feel so tired and brain foggy. Oftentimes, and this is huge, just getting off my phone
or away from a screen helps me with my energy. I get so mentally drained and burnt out when I'm plowing
through work, which is either filming content, editing content, doing stuff on my phone, emails, DMs,
whatever it is, podcast editing, ads, things like that, either on my phone or my computer,
My knee-jerk reaction when I'm feeling burnt out is to either drink caffeine or to eat.
But if I can put the screen away and go outside or pick up a book and read, which I've been doing in my spare time again, even for 10 minutes, do a jigsaw puzzle, my favorite at-home hobby or cook or walk or whatever, I get so re-energized.
By the end of the day, I'm so burnt out.
My brain feels fried.
Like, remember that commercial?
So many of you are probably too young for this, but like the brain on drugs with like,
the fried egg in the pan. That's my brain on my cell phone. So at the end of the day, I'll put my phone down, put a podcast on and start cooking. And after 15 minutes, I feel so much better. So I think we also need to be just mindful of that daily burnout as well. Someone asked me about vegetarian protein sources for weight loss. So this is definitely not my forte. I would say if you can do tofu, that's a really great option because you can get so creative with it. You can make sauce.
I have a really good tofu pasta sauce that I love. That's really high protein. You can grill it on
a skillet. You can crumble it. There's also meat alternatives now. You could do some of the protein
pastas. You can do things with legumes. Cheese is a good source of protein if you're vegetarian,
not vegan. I don't know. There are so many vegan and vegetarian creators who have such good options.
And info, Simon Hill is one. Remy, her handle is VeggieKins, is really great. She posted
this vegan beef hot honey bowl. I guess this is like trending. Everyone's making this beef bowl.
She made it vegan and it still has so much protein. It looks so amazing. So there are definitely
better sources when it comes to this than me. How do I manage to have a wellness lifestyle when I
travel so much and what are my go-to orders at restaurants? So the first part is it's hard but not as
hard as people might think. I'm not necessarily rigid when I travel, but I make sure I'm walking a lot
getting good sleep, getting morning sunlight, eating well, making sure I'm not going long periods
without eating or getting those major blood sugar crashes. It also depends where I'm traveling,
like St. Bart's last month. I was so relaxed. My nervous system was locked in. We were sleeping late.
I wasn't jumping up and eating breakfast or doing a workout. We were just relaxing so much. I was eating
everything under the sun, fried things, sugar, but I felt totally fine. Whereas if I did that in my day-to-day life,
when I'm stressed and my schedule is crazy and like my brain and my body demands more of me,
I would feel horrible. But if I'm just on a regular trip like New York or Miami, Aspen, these places
that I go all the time, I'm focusing on protein when I order if I'm eating out, making sure that
I'm getting veggies and some kind of carb. I still do my morning things like lots of water,
some food. I'll wait at least an hour, usually more before I have matcha. I just try to keep
some guardrails in place. Right now, for example, I'm traveling.
This morning I woke up. I did pick up my phone, but I quickly put it down. I drank a lot of water. I
stayed in bed for a little bit and read. My boyfriend was still sleeping. When he woke up,
I opened the curtains so that we could get some sunlight. I had a handful of macadamia nuts.
Then I went and made some oats. I had a few bites of oats because I'm just not that hungry yet.
And I want to get those pancakes, like I said. I had been awake for like an hour and a half before I had some
matcha. I had some and then I started recording this and I instantly felt that I had it too soon because
I didn't really have that much food and I didn't really get like that sunlight and I feel a little
bit frazzled right now. But I just try to be cognizant. I try to have those guard bells in place,
but it totally depends on the trip. It depends on the location and the type of trip. How do I deal with
gaining weight? So I gained weight over the last six months. Luckily a lot of it went to my boobs.
But I think maybe it's age or just being happy and comfortable with myself, but I just know that it's like the least significant part of my life.
My weight is the least significant part of my life.
It's the thing that I give the least attention to, the least amount of energy.
And I know that I can do that because I'm petite.
But at the end of the day, our weight is going to fluctuate to some degree.
and I just don't obsess over it or really give it any energy.
You know, I started feeling not great just because I've been so sedentary for so long.
A year and a half, it's a long time to really not be like moving.
And I just didn't feel healthy.
So that's a big driver of my desire to work out and also tone up, but it's not for weight loss.
So I've been there.
I've been where I was obsessed with my weight and my body and managing and controlling that.
And it was exhausting and it was never enough.
You know, it was never enough because I just found another thing to nitpick.
So I really zoomed out in a lot of ways when it comes to my body, my face, whatever.
And I'm just really flexible with it now.
And I do what's in my control when it comes to my body.
I eat healthy.
I'm trying to move my body.
I think it is and will be at the weight that it's meant to be at.
You know, I think about the time and energy that I spent when I was tracking macros obsessively
and working out compulsively. And for what? I don't look back at that time and feel like,
wow, I'm so glad I was at the weight that I was at then. Like, it makes no difference in my life.
So if it's not for health reasons and it's just more about how you look, you know, I just,
I don't know. I think that when we're eating healthy, working out, being mindful of stress,
getting sleep, hydrating, these really basic things that I've been like harping on this entire
episode, I feel like our body will be at the weight that it wants to be at. So I don't know if I'm
really answering this well. I guess for the most part, the answer is I just don't think about the
fluctuations unless it's like drastic, then maybe it would be different. And if I had blood work,
that was indicative of some kind of issue. That would be different. If I was at risk for
diabetes, you know, it's different. It's different. It's different. It's different.
when it is impacting health. But for me, when it's just about, you know, how I look or how my clothes
fit, I just don't really give it much attention. Okay, so nighttime routine. So I'm done eating
by eight. Earlier is better, but it's not always realistic because by the time we're done with work
and I cook and all of that, it's usually 7.30-ish and then we'll eat. I'll do my mint tea.
Sometimes I'll do my sauna for like 20 minutes at night. But if I am going to do it, I typically tried to do
it earlier in the day so that I can rehydrate if I sweat. So usually it's just eating dinner,
mint tea, and hang out for a little bit. And then I will go up and remove my makeup. Then I'll get in the
shower to rinse off and wash my face in the shower because why? Why is it easier to wash our
entire body and face in the shower than just wash our face at the sink? There's something to it.
So I usually start all of this around like 830 or 9. And then I'm in bed around like,
like 9.30, maybe we'll watch an episode of a show. My boyfriend always falls asleep before me. So then
that's my time to read for a little while. And, you know, I'm really not super rigid with anything
nighttime, except I really try not to eat past eight, which even eight is a little bit late. I do the
tea nightly. I stay off my phone no matter what, although sometimes I film my skincare, but, you know,
I'm off my phone. That's the thing that I am rigid with. And I try to read for at least a few minutes
before bed, ideally at least 30 minutes. Okay. So to sum it all up, if I could only do three things a day
day for my health and wellness, what would they be? This is so hard for me to pick just three. I feel like this
would change all the time, depending on what's going on. Right now, I would say my morning routine,
so that's probably cheating a little bit because it encompasses so many things. The hydrating,
the nervous system stuff, the sunlight, getting centered, I don't know. But let's just go with it.
A structured morning routine. It can be 10 minutes.
if that's all you have. It doesn't have to be an hour, just something, where you're kind of
touching on those elements. Get two minutes of sunlight as soon as you wake up, drink a glass of water,
close your eyes for two minutes and, you know, meditate or something. Like you can really,
you can really truncate this to make it fit with however much time you have. Two would be walking.
We have to move our bodies. It doesn't have to be a formal workout. Just walking. And three,
I would say cooking and eating really clean. I know that people have issues with the word clean eating,
but I'm going to go with it. Like I said, I'm traveling right now. I went to a big grocery store
yesterday to get a few things. And I know I'm so privileged. I realize that I'm also spoiled in L.A.
with Airwan and all of the little healthy markets that I go to, the farmer's markets, the butchers,
the cute little markets that have fresh produce, all of that. But at this grocery store,
I was really shook by how bad the food was, even the, quote, healthy foods.
Like, I was trying to find almond milk, which should just be almonds and water.
And they all had like 10 ingredients, including oils and gums.
And it's just why.
Again, we don't have to live in bubbles.
Like I said, I'm going out to eat.
I'm having fries.
I'm having bread.
I'm not obsessive.
But the majority of the time, I think we should be mindful of what ingredients we're
putting in our bodies.
It doesn't have to be crazy expensive or complicated to buy and prepare good food.
just getting frozen vegetables, get some chicken or protein, make a stir fry with rice. Like, that's not
that expensive or time consuming. And we can't control so many of the exposures that we have. So
when it comes to the exposures that we can control, like what kind of ingredients are we putting in our
body? I think that we just have to be really cognizant of that, but I'm going to get off my soapbox.
You know, I really feel for people who are not in areas that have healthier options, I know
everything's so expensive right now too. It's just not fair that a lot of people don't have good
options. But again, do the best that you can with what you have. So my three would be the morning
routine, walking, eating healthy. The other things like sauna, meditation, cold plunging,
all of those things, the wellnessy things that we tend to think of when we think wellness.
Like those are great, but those are only if you have the foundation down and they're totally not
necessary. I think at the end of the day, the theme of this episode is that it does not have to be
complicated. And so many of these tools, we have at our disposal. You don't need the fancy things.
You don't need the fancy tools. You don't need the wellness things. You don't need to have a crazy
two-hour morning and night routine. It does not have to be as complicated as it's been made out to be.
it's really just about getting that foundation down. So those are the things that I'm doing. I would love to hear if any of this resonated with you. If anybody is kind of like me where we're back to basics, you know, I really feel like I'm back to basics with my health and my wellness. And that's good. Like we don't need to do anything beyond that unless we feel really inclined to. And we have access to them and all of that. But, you know, at the end of the day, it's really simple.
It's not easy, but it's pretty simple. So let me know. Also, if you guys want some of these recipes and resources, and we will put together a post and share it on Wells' Instagram. And I'll be back with another solo. Tell me if you want to hear about beauty. Tell me if you want to hear relationships, whatever theme you want to know next. DM me, leave a comment, all of the things. And I'll talk to you soon. Love you.
