Well with Arielle Lorre - 474: How I’m Staying Hot at 41: Beauty Treatments, Body Comp & Wellness Hot Takes

Episode Date: August 12, 2026

I’m officially 41, so I’m sitting down for a solo episode to talk about everything that has changed—and everything I know now—when it comes to looking and feeling my best.I’m sharin...g how my approach to beauty has changed in my 40s, the treatments I’ll never stop doing, the one in-office treatment I’d choose if I could only do one, and the beauty trends I’m officially over (plus one you will absolutely never catch me participating in). I also get into how completely different my approach to fitness is now, why I’m working out less, how I’ve changed my body composition without dieting, and some of my more controversial fitness opinions.Plus, I’m getting into the wellness trends I can’t do anymore, the advice I personally don’t follow, what we were all doing to stay skinny in the early 2000s, and the things I know to be true now that I’m in my 40s. Basically: what’s actually worth doing, what I’ve stopped wasting my time on, and what makes me look and feel better at 41 than I did a decade ago. Thanks to my sponsors:Visit ProlonLife.com/BLONDE to get 15% sitewide.Get 15% off at BON CHARGE by using code BLONDE at www.boncharge.com.Head to Nutrafol.com and use code BLONDE for $10 off your first subscription and free shipping.Head to paleovalley.com/well, or use code well at checkout for 15% off your first purchase.Visit www.Sarahcrealbeauty.com/well to get 15% off your first order.Go to ladder.fit/WELL for a 7-day free trial and $10 off your first month.Visit resortpass.com/well to get $20 off your first booking of $100 or more. This episode may contain paid endorsements and advertisements for products and services. Starting point is 00:00:00 The following podcast is a dear media production. This is Well, a podcast about wellness in all its forms. I'm Ariel Lori, and each week I'm sharing unfiltered conversations with the people shaping how we feel, live, and look. Come for the substance, stay for the honesty, and leave with the tools to be well, inside and out. Okay. So for this episode today, I was thinking that I would just talk about all the things that
Starting point is 00:00:32 you guys ask me about, which is, of course, beauty, fitness, wellness, all of that, but maybe from the lens of like, oh, I'm going to try not to say like so much, too. By the way, I feel like I truly don't say it. Sometimes I'm talking and I'm thinking in my head on the podcast, I'm not saying like, this is great. And then I listen back and I'm saying like every other word. So I might try and talk about these things through the lens of what I do differently now versus maybe 10 years ago or even in the last few years, we need to get you a horn.
Starting point is 00:01:09 So every time I say like, you blow the horn. I'm not kidding. I'm going to get you one because it would save us all a lot of time and effort on the back end because, yeah, you know, I do a pass and I cut every single one. And I think my video team also wants to kill me when I do that and probably you as well and whoever else is working on it. But it's very shocking. I'll just put it that way.
Starting point is 00:01:40 I think people don't realize how much they use filler words until they hear themselves back on a recording. And yeah. Okay. So let's see. What has happened since I lost it a solo aside from turning 41? Well, I was traveling. That was kind of a doozy.
Starting point is 00:02:00 because I seemed to have gotten a parasite or something on that vacation. And it's actually crazy. I was looking at the podcast that released today that we recorded last week, like right when I got back. And remember, I could not even think. I was, I'm talking to Testa by the way. I couldn't even think. And I couldn't.
Starting point is 00:02:19 It was so hard for me to steer a conversation, especially one like that, because the brain fog was so crazy because I literally was basically not a person. to eat anything except for rice when I was on the verge of passing out for about two and a half or three weeks. And it was brutal. Anyway, so I was looking at the video and my face looked really thin. Yeah. So there was that. But it's funny because whenever I'm super struggling with something physically is when I get the most comments from people on my body on Instagram in a positive way. It's always when I'm fighting for my life that people are asking me what my current diet and workout routine is, which just tells me that I feel like people still really glorify thinness, being thin.
Starting point is 00:03:16 I don't know. Do you notice that? Yeah. Back to being super thin. Yeah, there is the Ariana Grande of it all. hopefully she's okay. I'm not even going to dare step into that conversation. But there's that. But then there's kind of this in between where a lot of people are on this brink, I would say. And I feel like people still really strive for that even though we say that we don't. Because I just, I always notice that whenever I'm not working out, but I'm sick or dealing with something, I'm not eating as much. And I'm then, that's when people want to know, versus when I'm working out and I'm more muscular and all of that. Anyway, that was what was happening on vacation. And when I got back, I did go to the doctor and I said, you just have to get me better for my birthday because it was brutal. It was miserable. I'm happy to report
Starting point is 00:04:11 that I'm feeling better. I don't think that I had the cyclosporiasis because it happened after eating raw fish in St. Trope. Anyway, so turning 41, thoughts, feelings, questions, comments. I feel like the older I get, the younger I feel. It didn't happen as much in my 30s, I would say maybe in my 30s I kind of felt my age because I was still young. Or I think maybe I felt around 28 at that time. But now the older that I get, the younger I feel and that I feel like I'm in my early to mid-20s, not necessarily physically, but mentally, emotionally, in a really good way. And I think that some of that lightness comes with age and just dropping a lot of the things that we carry, especially in our 30s. I think 30s, 20s are hard, but 30s are really hard in
Starting point is 00:05:07 that we feel like we're supposed to have it all figured out and have the career and have the relationship, get married, maybe have kids if you want that of financial security. 30s are the decade of pressure, I think. So it's kind of nice being on the other end of that. I still have a lot of pressure that I impose on myself. And I'm not saying that it all falls away after you turn 40, but I think that you also truly stop caring. And I hear this from women in their 50s too. I hear women in their 50s say basically everything that I'm saying now, but even more so, even more exaggerated, because I think the older you get, obviously, you just come into yourself more and know who you are more and have more self-assuredness and more self-possession and hopefully
Starting point is 00:06:05 clarity and confidence and all the things that come with just being around longer and life experience. And I think I had this conversation with Stasi Schroeder a couple weeks ago on my podcast. And she was pushing back a little bit. Do you remember what she was saying? I think she was saying she's not more confident with age. She had almost an arrogant confidence in her 20s. And now she feels like she doesn't know anything. And I think that two things can happen at the same time. Two things can be true at the same time. You can know that you don't know anything. And you can know that the older you get, the more everyone else is also just trying to figure it out and almost like there's no real adults in the room. But you can also feel more confident and feel more sure of who you are and all of that.
Starting point is 00:06:52 So that's just how I feel. I feel like, and I've said this before, I really think that I'm in this sweet spot of my life where everything is good. My parents are still alive. That's a big thing. I have my health. My brother. Like my family, Everyone's okay. But yeah, I just feel like I'm in a good time in my life. And actually, I do talk to my mom a lot about work and everything. And in some ways, I do feel very overwhelmed right now because I have so many different things going on from podcasts to regular content stuff to two other projects that I'm working on. And then tons of travel and everything for work right now too. And I remind myself every day that this is what I wished for. And my mom reminds me also that she's 72 or 73 now, and she always tells me just enjoy it. She says that she would give anything to go back to this time in life. So, yeah, turning 40 was not as scary as turning 30. And turning 41 was kind of a big nothing burger, as they say, especially.
Starting point is 00:08:11 especially because I feel like I'm in a good place. I think that it's different if you feel like you're not where you want to be in life. So obviously, this is all through my lens, given my circumstances and all of that. So I got a lot of questions from the audience, as usual. They spanned mostly beauty, fitness, wellness, all of the things that we talk about here. So let's get into the beauty things. And I think that I don't have to preface this by telling you that I've scaled way back, especially at 40. I feel like I'm beating a dead horse at this point when I talk about that. But I think a lot of people ramp up their beauty treatments as they get older. I have done the opposite. 30s were my time of experimenting and doing all of the things. So some of the answers are
Starting point is 00:09:05 going to be influenced by that, I think. And that could change. And I always say that. this could change at any moment, but right now I feel like I'm good with how things are, especially because the last two to, no, three years. It's now been three years since the do-dun-dun-ton-votox incident of 2023, August 2023. That's crazy that that was three years ago. Whoa. But in that time, I really changed my focus to maintaining my skin quality. And that remains my focus because you can do all of, I talk about this all the time. I feel like people hear this every episode, but you can literally do everything. You can get a facelift, necklift, brow lift, lip lift, fat transfer, blufferoplasty,
Starting point is 00:10:01 whatever procedure you want to get. And if you are not taking care of your skin, it's not going to look good. So what is one beauty treatment I will never start? stop doing. Skin care is the obvious one, but beauty treatment, I would say if I had to pick one, if I could only do one, I would probably say laser, because I feel like laser, the combo of laser and really good skincare. And then at-home modalities, which I don't think, I'm counting treatment as an in-office thing.
Starting point is 00:10:39 at-home modalities like red light, guasha, cupping, taping, all the things that I did when I was not getting Botox. I think if you combine that with really good skincare, sun protection, obviously, and then maybe a laser or two a year, you will be in a good place and you will remain in a good place. I think a lot of people would say Botox, but again, I just, I think back to skin quality. and I think skin quality is the most important thing. And when you go to other countries and even other places in the U.S., but especially other countries,
Starting point is 00:11:15 you see women who are not either heavily Botoxed or not Botoxed at all, but they have good skin and they've been taking care of it because there's such an emphasis on taking care of their skin since they were a young age. And we know that those pharmacies are stacked in a way that ours aren't and they have amazing skin and they look beautiful. So I don't think that things like Botox or filler or whatever are the end-all be-all. What is one beauty treatment I wish I had skipped? I think everyone thinks that I'm going to say threads, but I would say radio frequency
Starting point is 00:11:49 microneedling because that shit melted my fat. So I was doing a post the other day for my birthday and I was going back through each decade, you know, how it's like me in 2026 or however old I am in 2026. So I was 41 in 2026, 31 in 2016. I was looking back at my skin and my face and I had so much fat in a good way. And obviously you lose some of that naturally as you age. We know that. But I also did radio frequency microneedling twice. I think the first time it was good. I think the second time was overkill. And it really had a purpose. profound impact on basically the shape of my face because I started to have volume loss in my midface where I put fat back in and gave me that shape back. And Dr. Amir Karam always talks about there's two different factors when it comes to aging. There's your skin and then there's your shape. So there's skin quality and then there's face shape. And because I had eliminated so much of the
Starting point is 00:13:01 fat in the midface, my face was really long and that's just kind of associated with age, not to give people complexes on me. It just, I looked older than I do now because of that. And I would caution people against RF microneedling. Obviously, if you go to somebody really good who is really conservative and you're the appropriate patient, maybe there's a time and a place for it. But I just, I really, being this age, I can tell you, you want your fat. You want your fat, you want your tissue, you want your collagen, and you don't want to do something that's going to compromise that. What beauty trend am I officially over? I tend to not be too judgmental when it comes to trends because I've done so many of them. And I've been at the receiving
Starting point is 00:13:48 end of a lot of judgment. So if it works for you and you enjoy it and you're not doing it because you feel like you have to, but because you want to or you notice benefits from it, I say go for it. I think that I think we're a little extreme. And I was talking with someone about this, maybe Dr. Idris, with the morning shed. And I think people do that to rage bait a lot of the time. I don't, I just don't know how somebody is literally sleeping in one of those pillows where you don't move with a bonnet on or the ponytail roller blowout thing. tape all over their face, a collagen mask, the chest pillow, mouth tape. You don't know a chest pillow?
Starting point is 00:14:37 I actually do like the chest pillow. I can't remember. I think it's Sleep and Glow is the company who makes them, who makes the nice ones, but you can get them on Amazon. It's basically a silk or satin pillow that goes between your boobs on your decalette, and then it has what look like bra straps. And so when you roll over on your side, it prevents the squishing and the accordion of your skin. So they do work, but I have not been able to sleep comfortably with them.
Starting point is 00:15:12 And usually I take them off in the middle of the night. So I don't know how somebody is sleeping with all of that and not ripping everything off their face. Even if I put a bonnet on, that thing is coming off in the middle of the night. Same with an eye mask, a silk eye mask. Not always. Same with the chest pillow. What's the most overrated skincare product category? I don't know. I remember, again, this is fresh in my mind because Dr. Idris was just on or that episode just came out. And she said things like hyluronic acid serums, pDRN, topical pdron. I think it depends on you and your skin. Because I have a hyaluronic acid serum that I use sometimes that I love. And I remember Dr. Bonasali said,
Starting point is 00:16:00 I think for him, maybe it was a vitamin C that was overrated or not necessary for everybody because there are other acids that can essentially do the same thing. For me, I don't think that I have a specific category that I feel like is overrated. I will say that I think a lot of the more biotech type products, they kind of lose me when it's getting too biotechie and too futuristic or too complicated. I like simple ingredients in smart formulations. It's getting so complicated now. And if you want to use the Apple stem cell vegan PDRN with the biomimem cosmetic, collagen, whatever. And it works for you again. Go for it. I was testing a product for a clinic, actually, because I'm doing a partnership with them. And I always test the products for at least
Starting point is 00:16:58 three to four weeks before I'll agree to do it. And there is collagen, PDRN cream. And at first, I said, absolutely not. I'm savvy. My audience is savvy. But then I looked into the actual specific ingredients. And I thought, okay, I'll give it a shot. I liked it because it was super hydrating, super cushiony, makes my skin super bouncy. But a lot of the really, really complex stuff, I just, I kind of, I'm out. I hear it and I'm out. A lot of them are overrated and a lot of them are actually not as complicated as they make them sound. And a lot of them are the exact same thing. What's actually worth spending money on? And it's sound like a broken record. Good skincare. The right laser. Maybe microneedling, which I have to do again. Red light. Again, these
Starting point is 00:17:48 foundational things that support your skin over the long term, I would say, are worth spending on and what is the biggest waste of money, just unnecessary products. And kind of back to the RF thing, a lot of tightening devices, I would just be very wary. There are so many wellness products that promise to optimize one tiny piece of your health. And what always gets my attention are the ones that support the foundation because if that isn't working well, everything else becomes an uphill battle. And that is why I love Armour Colostrum so much. We ask a lot of our bodies today from constant travel, stress, processed foods to environmental toxins. And all of that can put pressure on the systems that help keep us resilient. So instead of just focusing on one outcome, Armacolostrum is
Starting point is 00:18:42 designed to support your body at the cellular level. It is a bioactive whole food containing over 400 bioactive nutrients that help strengthen your gut barrier while supporting immune health, healthy metabolism, skin, hair, fitness, and overall vitality. And I also like that it's not about chasing the latest wellness trend or adding another complicated routine. It's one simple thing that's designed to support how your body functions every single day, which is a philosophy that makes a lot of sense to me. I also love traveling with their travel packs. It makes it so easy to just feel like I'm covering a lot of my bases when I'm exposing my body to a lot of different environments, foods, and the like. So if you've been looking for something that supports
Starting point is 00:19:26 your health from the inside out, this is definitely worth checking out. My listeners can receive 30% off their first subscription order when you go to armor.com slash well or enter the code well at checkout. That's armor.com slash well for 30% off their first subscription order. I hope that I make it clear that I don't have crazy, in-depth, intricate routines when it comes to both my skincare and my wellness. But one thing that is a complete non-negotiable is my red light therapy. I've been using my bond charge red light face mask almost every single day for, I don't even know how long now, because it's one of those habits that is really easy to stick with and it compounds over time. So I'm always thinking about the little things that I can do consistently to help maintain my
Starting point is 00:20:11 skin as I get older, not chasing perfection, just supporting healthy. collagen, helping to prevent collagen loss, and keeping my skin looking even fresh and healthy. And that is exactly why I keep reaching for this mask. It combines both near infrared and red light in one device to support collagen and elastin production. And I have genuinely noticed that my skin tone looks more even and my skin just looks more glowy overall. I love how lightweight it is. I pack it really easily. It doesn't get hot. It doesn't feel bulky. I habit stack it with almost anything in the morning. So whether that's answering emails, meditating, or just easing into my day. It's so easy to wear for between 10 to 20 minutes. Usually I'm around the 12 to 15 minutes.
Starting point is 00:20:56 And before I know it, I am done. And I've tried other devices over the years, but Bonchard really stands out. They removed the blue and green light that some other masks include, so it won't interfere with your circadian rhythm. Plus, it has zero EMF, zero flicker, and it's incredibly sleek and comfortable to wear. So if you are wanting to be, so if you are wanting to wear, to add just one high impact skincare tool to your routine. I cannot recommend this enough. Go to boncharge.com and use the code blonde to save 15%. That's B-O-N-C-H-A-R-G-E.com and use the code blonde for 15% off. Every fitness expert who has ever come on my show has said one thing, and that's that if your goal is building muscle, getting stronger, or changing your body composition,
Starting point is 00:21:40 you need an actual plan. So random workouts just are not. not going to get you the same results as progressive programming. And that is exactly why I love the latter app. Instead of wondering what exercises to do, how much weight to lift, or whether you're actually making progress, everything is mapped out for you by a certified coach. It's like having a personal trainer in your headphones. And what I really love is that it tailored my training to my preferences. I wanted something that sits somewhere between Pilates and traditional strength training because as I say in this episode, I do genuinely love Pilates, but I love the benefits. of strength training. So it matched me with a plan that feels challenging but realistic for how I
Starting point is 00:22:19 actually like to work out. Every week builds on the last, so you're not just doing random exercises. You are following a real strategy that's designed to help get you stronger over time. The app tracks your weights, your reps, your progress. It gives you coaching cues throughout every workout. It honestly removes the mental load. I just open it. My workout is waiting for me. There's no guesswork, no decision fatigue. So if you've been wanting to strength train, but you aren't sure where to start or if you've hit a plateau because you've been doing the same workouts forever. I truly cannot recommend the ladder app enough. So remove the guestwork with ladder and get a real coach in your ear telling you exactly what to do for every workout. If you have an iPhone,
Starting point is 00:22:58 head to ladder.fit slash well and take a quick quiz to find your perfect ladder plan. If you use my link, you get a free seven day trial with no credit card required, plus $10 off your first month. I've been talking about Nutraful since I believe 2022. since I first used it for some shedding around my hairline. And it's one of those products where it pays off, but consistency really matters. It is not an overnight fix. And I actually think that that is important to say because I think a lot of people expect immediate results when it comes to any kind of treatment or any supplement.
Starting point is 00:23:32 So hair health especially is a long game, but if you stick with it, it can make a real difference. I originally started taking it because, like I said, I was noticing some shedding around my hairline and that area just looked a little too sparse for my liking. And after using it consistently, one of the biggest things that I noticed were baby hairs coming in probably around three months. And then I had a lot of growth in that area around six months. My hair looked visibly thicker around the front and I had less shedding and I just felt more confident wearing my hair back without overthinking it. I like that neuterfall takes a root cause approach rather than a one size fits all approach. It's the number one dermatologist recommended hair growth supplement brand and also the number
Starting point is 00:24:14 one hair growth supplement brand personally used by dermatologists. And their supplements are peer-reviewed, NSF certified for sport and clinically tested. And they have different formulas for different life stages and lifestyles. So you can find one that's right for you. So let your hair be one less thing to worry about. See visibly thicker, stronger, faster-growing hair in three to six months with neuterfall. For a limited time, NutraFal is offering my listeners $10 off your first month's subscription, plus free shipping when you visit Nutrafol.com and enter the promo code blonde. That's N-U-T-R-A-F-O-L.com code blonde. A lot of people are talking about Zurf, and I talked to Dr. Idris about that too. And she said that her approach is always to kind of watch and wait. And when I posted a clip from
Starting point is 00:25:04 that, so many people DM'd me, and they said, I did it. It did nothing. And they tell you that you need to do multiple rounds and I did and it did literally nothing. And so I just think that money is better spent on doing things that support and maintain your skin than the newest, latest, greatest thing. Okay. What has changed the most about my faiths in my 40s? The amount of movement. Or maybe I was just so Botoxed from when I was in my late 20s. Well, really, I think it was 29 or 30 until 38 that I just never saw normal movement. But yeah, there's a lot of movement. I think people wouldn't know because I don't emote that much.
Starting point is 00:25:58 But definitely my eyes. And even when I've gotten a little bit of Botox in that area again, it doesn't. do anything. It does not do anything. And if it does, it lasts for three weeks. And the movement is just so strong. And that's something that I've unfortunately noticed. If I had to start my skincare routine from scratch, what are the first five products I would buy? Okay, an acid cleanser. I left my cleanser twice on vacation. So this was a good test for me. In June, when I was in Europe, I left my glycolic cleanser in the shower at some hotel. And so for a few days, I was just using a non-acid cleanser. And even with my other products, my skin was not the same. So I went out to the pharmacy.
Starting point is 00:26:47 I was in Italy. And I got the skin suiticles glycolic. I think it's called glycolic renew. And everything was so much better. It happened again when I was just in wherever I was, France, I guess. And same thing. My skin looked more dull without using that kind of cleanser. That's not going to be the case for everybody, but for my skin, it really enhances everything when I'm exfoliating as my cleansing step. And then I would say an exfoliating serum with a retinal in it. A really good hydrating product, whether that's a toner, a moisturizer, a mist, whatever.
Starting point is 00:27:31 whatever the vehicle, just something that's really hydrating and quenching your skin. Is that the quenching? Drenching. Drenching, quenching your skin. And SPF. Those would be my big five. What's the one beauty habit that's made the biggest difference over the last decade? I can't deny that I think Botox did a lot of prevention for me in preventing static lines from forming.
Starting point is 00:27:59 I don't have any. and skincare. I look back at pictures from 2022 when I had acne and even before that in my early 30s, my skin was just not nearly as good as it is now and as
Starting point is 00:28:13 bouncy and thick and hydrated and all of that. What's one beauty trend I'll never participate in? What are beauty trends that aside from the sheds? I do think I have blushed blindness. I thought you were saying I agree. I was like, tell me how you really feel. You can tell me, by the way. We all need to have that person. But I wouldn't change anything. That's the thing. But oh, now there's a trend where people are not using blush. Yeah. Which I never really used blush until a few years ago. And then I realized, but that's why I looked dead. I didn't have any color in my cheeks because I would just do whatever coverage I was using. And then,
Starting point is 00:29:02 foundation all over. That's it. So there was really no dimension, nothing happening on the face to make me look, you know, alive. So I think that I'll always be a blush girl. I don't think that I'm going to participate in the no blush trend. Sometimes I see video and I think we overshot the mark just a little bit there. But it's okay. That's how I also grow and learn. Okay, switching to fitness. My fitness approach has also changed massively from a decade ago. I was counting macros, which I don't think is always disordered. And I do think there's a time and a place for it. But for me, I was going to extremes because we all were, by the way.
Starting point is 00:29:52 We didn't know. It was such a different time on social media and in fitness. And we did not have the emphasis on strength training and all of the benefits of that. and fueling your body and that whole thing. It was Asaibals, bikini body guide, if it fits your macros, and quest bars. That was the time. So that would never work for me now anyway. I think that I would actually pass away if I tried to do one of those workouts now. And that is one thing that happens with age and probably hormones. But My approach is a lot softer now, I would say. So if I could only do one form of exercise for the rest of my life, what would it be? Pilates. Sorry to Jenna. Sorry to Harley. Sorry to Shannon and all my trainers. I do strength training now because of the long-term health benefits and because I do like how I feel after. But if I could only pick one thing, it would be Pilates because it's the mind-body connection thing.
Starting point is 00:31:04 and the low impactness of it all that I really like and I just feel better after I do it. And I feel like I look better after I do Pilates versus strength training, which is always a struggle with me with the puffiness. Always. I get puffy from Pilates too, but definitely from strength training. What's the biggest fitness mistake women make in their late 30s and 40s? I'm not really in a position to answer that because I'm not a professional. I can only speak to the mistakes that I made.
Starting point is 00:31:38 And for me, that didn't really happen in my late 30s. That was in my late 20s, early 30s. And I think everybody has to go through what doesn't work to find what works. I mean, trial and error. That's how you're going to find what works for you and what you enjoy doing. And I think that that's part of the beauty of your 30s. You're trying so many different things, whether it's fitness or work or beauty or insert. whatever here, fill in the blank. And my 30s are certainly when I learned what worked for me and
Starting point is 00:32:10 what didn't. But by the way, it also changes all the time. So different things, work at different times. That's why I always try to emphasize that wellness, quote unquote wellness, should be not even necessarily a lifestyle, but a set of tools that you know how to use and when. Okay. My current workout split and why? Well, nothing. things since before I left on vacation. This is what always happens to me. Always. I get super into a routine and I do tend to get, we'll say, passionate about things. And the more I work out, the more I want to work out because I like how I feel after I work out. But I don't like how puffy I feel and how my clothes don't fit me because of that puffiness. But I like the act of,
Starting point is 00:33:04 having somewhere to be in the morning, doing something physical, having the mental benefit of that all day, whether it's reduction in anxiety, more mental clarity, energy, things like that. So for me, exercise begets more exercise. And then inevitably, I'm traveling or something or I get sick or whatever. And that pattern or that routine gets disrupted. And then that begets more laziness years ago. I was doing a solo episode and I was talking about how it's that classic things in motion, stay in motion and things at rest, stay at rest. That is me to a D. If I'm in that phase where I'm bebopping around and I have routine and everything, I commit to that. And if I fall off, then I get used to that and it's hard for me to get back on. That said, all my trainers,
Starting point is 00:34:01 I have people that keep me accountable and they pressure me to put something on the books. So I'm going to get back into it. But my workout split was two to three days of Pilates and then two to three days of strength training. That was too much. Then I went down to two two. That was too much. And so I think the sweet spot for me is three days of working out a week. whether that's two Pilates, one strength, two strength, one Pilates doesn't really matter.
Starting point is 00:34:36 But that's the amount that I can work out while also giving my body ample time to, as Jenna, my trainer would say, delode and recover and not stay in that constant cycle of workout, get puffy, work out, get puffy, which is hard because it takes a lot of restraint because it feels good and I want to do it, but such is where I am. Maybe it's a 40s thing. I don't know. Maybe it's a me thing. But that's why that's my workout split. I have been traveling a lot this summer and I still have a couple trips coming up. But when I get back, I have really been thinking about doing a prolon reset because I don't have to tell you between flights, eating out, disrupted routines and obviously all the indulgences that make traveling fun. I always get to the end of the same.
Starting point is 00:35:29 summer craving a real reset, not just to feel lighter, but to feel like myself again. And what I like about Prolon is that it is not about starving yourself or chasing a quick fix. It's a five-day plant-based nutrition program that is designed to keep your body in a fasting state while still nourishing you. And that helps trigger your body's natural cellular renewal process, supporting metabolic reset, fat loss, while helping protect lean muscle and even healthier-looking skin. So I love the idea of a glow that actually starts from within because we all know that the way that your skin looks is often a reflection of what's going on inside. So no matter the season, if I am craving a reset, Prolon is the go-to. It is convenient. It's backed by Nobel winning science and it works.
Starting point is 00:36:16 And after a summer of travel, this is definitely the kind of reset that I would want before getting back into my normal routine. So if you are ready for your own reset for a limited time, Prolon is offering my listeners 15% off sitewide plus a $40 bonus gift when you subscribe to their five-day program. Visit prolonllife.com slash blonde. That's P-R-O-L-O-N-L-I-F-E dot com slash blonde to claim your 15% discount and your bonus gift. I don't know if anyone else feels this way, but there's so many days where I don't want to pack for a full vacation or book a hotel overnight. I just want a change of scenery, a beautiful pool, a spa, a good lunch, and a day that actually feels restorative, and that is exactly what resort pass is.
Starting point is 00:37:01 So you can book access to luxury hotel pools, spas, and cabanas without booking a room. With passes starting at just $25, it takes less than five minutes to book. There are no membership fees, and they even have same-day availability. If you are feeling spontaneous, I honestly think it's one of the easiest ways to romanticize an ordinary day, whether you have a free afternoon, if you have a friend in town, or you're craving a solo reset, It gives you permission to step out of your routine without the planning or expense of a full trip. I love that it feels like a little vacation, even if you're home by dinner. And this is so appealing to me right now because, as I've been saying, I've been traveling so much this summer, which is something that I always wanted.
Starting point is 00:37:43 But I am feeling a little bit burnt out. So a staycation just for the day sounds so good to me right now. Resort Pass partners with more than 2,500 luxury hotels and resorts across the U.S., Mexico and the Caribbean. and everything is seamless. You get the same elevated hospitality you would expect as an overnight guest just for the day. So if you're looking for a way to recharge before summer slips away, definitely check it out. Starting point is 00:38:21 Code Well, Resort Pass, the day is yours. As you know, if you're listening to this episode, I just turned 41, and I swear the biggest makeup shift happens somewhere around 38 to 40. Suddenly the products that you've loved for years don't really hit the same. Concealer can start settling into places that it never used to. Mascar as smudges and makeup that used to make you look fresh somehow can make you look a little bit tired. And that is why I was so excited to discover Sarah Creel Beauty. Every product is developed specifically for women over 40, although anybody can use it, which honestly feels kind of revolutionary because so much of the beauty industry is still creating products on women in their 20s. So Sarah spent years creating iconic products for some of the biggest luxury beauty brands out there, a story that you will hear when she comes on my podcast soon.
Starting point is 00:39:13 And she realized that there was a huge gap in the market for makeup that actually works with our skin now. So I have a few absolute favorites. If you follow me on Instagram or TikTok, you probably know these. The bronzer is just the most gorgeous bronzer out there, in my opinion. It gives the prettiest, most believable warmth without looking muddy. The concealer is also fantastic. And I even know girls in their 20s who love it too. It doesn't crease.
Starting point is 00:39:39 It doesn't settle the way that so many do. And then I have to shout out the tubing mascara. It's genuinely the only mascara that I use. It gives such great length and definition. It doesn't smudge. and it doesn't have that fake lash look. So right now for my listeners, Sarah Creel Beauty is offering 15% off your first order
Starting point is 00:39:56 of luxurious high-performance beauty that actually makes your routine simpler and works better for you now. Visit saracreelbeautom slash well. Starting point is 00:40:18 every day and one of the most important meals to me is breakfast. Unfortunately, I am just not a protein person when it comes to my breakfast in the morning. I like to have something like overnight oats or a smoothie or a yogurt bowl, so I rely heavily on protein powder. And it can be tricky to find one that A, tastes good, B is high quality, and C, that blends easily into those things. And that is why I really like Paleo Valley's bone broth protein. I love the vanilla of flavor and also the unflavored is really versatile too. I can throw it into my matcha. I can throw it in a soup if I'm making that. I've been really into that lately when I want an extra protein boost without changing the taste. And what I think is really interesting is that it isn't your typical
Starting point is 00:41:04 collagen powder. It's made from 100% grass fed and finished beef bones, not hides, and it's slow simmered the way that you would make bone broth at home. So you're getting naturally occurring collagen plus other nutrients that support healthy skin, joints, gut health, and muscle recovery. It has 15 grams of protein per serving. It's incredibly clean, third-party tested, and sourced from regenerative farms without pesticides, herbicides, or GMOs. So as somebody who's always trying to support muscle while also taking care of my skin and my overall health, I love finding products that do more than one thing. It's just an easy habit that fits into my day without overthinking it. So if you want to try it, head to paleo valley.com slash well or use the code

What has changed the most about how I trained since my 20s? I was not training in my 20s. Hold up. Wait a second. I was not training in my 20s. I don't think I worked out ever. Never. I think maybe in my early 20s when I was living in Florida, I remember a guy that I was friends with. had a gym membership, and I think my friend and I went with him a couple times and did the elliptical or the Stairmaster. First of all, we did not have social media. We had MySpace to Tessa's point.
Starting point is 00:42:31 Tessa said MySpace is coming back. Wellness was not a thing. We were not inundated with the lifestyle and the content and the emphasis on health and wellness. That's not to say that people weren't doing it. I lived in South Florida. I was in Miami all the time. very body conscious. I don't know if it's necessarily health conscious, but it was very body conscious. People were definitely working out a lot, but they were also like doing GHB.
Starting point is 00:43:02 I remember that was like a big thing with the gym people because they could do GHB when we went out instead of drinking the calories. That was wellness in the early 2000s. Just, you know, date rape drug. But yeah, I was not not. I was, I wasn't eating. I wasn't eating in my 20s. I was doing drugs and drinking and smoking cigarettes. Yeah, I was not a model. It's not looking like a model. Oh my God. I did a, this is like such an aside. But I did a TikTok the other day of I just turned 41. These are things about me that don't match my appearance. And I was talking about, I've been to jail X amount of times. I've been in detox, rehab, this. that and everyone was like, oh my God, I didn't know you had lore. I was like, do I have lore? Is that what the kids are saying now? I think I needed to talk more about this. Yeah. But yeah, my 20s were my, that was where I was building my lore. Oh my God. Okay. I know I need to speed up here. Some of these are things we talk about so much with trainers. What is my biggest fitness hot take that we don't
Starting point is 00:44:13 have to work out as much as we do? That's just my. hot take. Although I had Dr. Joey Munoz on. Were you here for? No, you weren't. Yeah, no. But you heard about it. And I said to him, have you ever had somebody? I can't remember how I phrased it. But I said, basically, I like my body better when I don't work out. Have you ever heard that? And he looked at me like I had three heads. And he said no. So maybe it's a me thing. But I do know that there are a lot of people in my DMs who feel the same way, who feel like we work out just. our body goes in a different direction than other people's bodies do. But I do think in general, obviously there's nuance. I don't think that it needs to be a six to seven day a week thing if your goal is to be healthy. But again, I'm not an expert. So what the fuck do I know? Okay. What's something I no
Starting point is 00:45:07 longer believe about weight loss? I don't believe weight loss is the end all be all. I think that that's something that you outgrow for sure. What's had the biggest image? impact on my body composition. I don't know that my body composition has changed that much. I really don't. I actually, I think that I've always pretty much been this size, but I am a little bit thinner than I was in my early 30s when I was eating a lot of the low fat stuff, eating a lot of the low carb stuff, doing the crazy workouts, not resting at all, really restricting food groups, And all of it was in the name of trying to be, quote, unquote, healthy. And again, that's what we were doing at the time.
Starting point is 00:45:57 But I think that exercising to that extent, especially the type that I was doing, high intensity, plyometric, jumping around stuff, six days a week. And really trying to kind of white knuckle through the day and eat low carb or within a certain amount of macros. It often led to binging for me. My appetite was always crazy all over the place. So I do look back now and it's so much easier now. And I know that's not everyone's experience. And I'm sure I'm in for a big surprise when the hormones really start changing. But it was really when I took my foot off the gas with all of that stuff that my body reached its homeostasis. And since then, I would say my body composition and my body.
Starting point is 00:46:46 body, my weight and all of that has not changed at all, except for when I have a parasite in Santropay or, you know, the six to 12 months after the Botox thing when I lost weight because I wasn't working out. And so my appetite wasn't as much. I wasn't eating as much. I had other stuff going on. But health stuff aside, I would say that's what's had the biggest impact on my body composition was actually doing less. Okay. Okay, I'll do some wellness ones. What is one habit that I tried because everyone else was doing it and immediately quit vibration plate. Why, do you have one? Oh, I just served it all. Oh, does it make you want one? Are you getting influenced? I mean, I'm curious. I would want to try it. Like, I want something else that has it.
Starting point is 00:47:39 Yes, before you pull the trigger on the purchase. Yeah. I mean, first it was rebounding and everyone's jumping on their trampolines in the morning. And then it transitioned to vibration plates. I cannot do this because for me, it puts me into a flare with my immune thing. So that's a no for me. I don't know. I mean, I guess I could see how it could be good for lymphatic drainage and things like that. Again, I'm sure it's one of those things that people swear by. And if it works for you, great. What's my current non-negotiable morning habit? Macha. That's just, that's just my life. That's a fact. What wellness advice do I ignore checking my phone first thing in the morning? I am who I am. I cannot meditate. I cannot journal. Like, I can't do things if I wake up with a million things in my head that either I have to write down, ideas that I have, whatever. I wake up and I'm in that mode already. So it's better for me to get on my phone, text that person, remind them to do this because I just thought of it.
Starting point is 00:48:58 Right in my to-do notes. Oh, these are the priorities today. Usually I have to, I post all my content. I post my, I do my TikTok, I do my Instagram. I do my podcast Instagram. And so I like to do that in the morning and get that done so that then during the day I can make new content or do whatever I have to do. So I'm just a phone in the face girl in the morning. And I know because there are times when I don't do it, that your day is so much better if you don't, I guess, but it's not really hurting me. So there's no point for me to try to force that habit out of myself. and I think that wellness can make you feel like you're doing everything wrong. Wellness, culture, whatever you want to call it.
Starting point is 00:49:51 But if it works for you and it's not creating any consequences, then don't feel like you have to be changing everything about your lifestyle. What do I think people optimize way too much? Everything. Everything. Like, can we just have fun? Can we live? Stop optimizing everything. Not everything has to be optimized. What's something simple that almost
Starting point is 00:50:19 nobody does consistently? Meditation, I would say, is one. And I think just the foundational things. I think that we hyper focus on what we can optimize at the expense of just doing a few core things well. And that can look different for everybody. Okay. I guess I'll close with. I wrote 10 things. that I know to be true in this decade of my life, but I have to read them. These are my opinions only. I know them to be factually true, but they're only my opinion. The hottest women I know are not the ones who are trying the hardest. This is for sure true, in my life at least. Looking expensive rarely has to do with wearing expensive things. These took me so long. Muscle is more flattering than losing another five pounds. I'm watching out of the corner of my eye to see if Tessa
Starting point is 00:51:17 proves or not. I don't know how to phrase this one, but like energy and how you, I don't want to say happiness. That's cheesy. But energy shows up on your face before your skincare does. I think something that really changed, and I can notice this when I look back on photos of myself from before I got divorced, I, I look like a different person and I haven't done anything. Obviously, I've gotten older, but I just look more alive because that energy, I think, was really sucking the life out of me. The women who look the best aren't chasing youth. They're maintaining themselves well. So it's not about looking young. It's about maintenance. To that point, it's easier to maintain than it is to catch up. Tiny habits compound more than occasional extremes.
Starting point is 00:52:09 Oh, my last one, duh. Being interesting makes you more attractive. All right. Well, thank you, everyone who's here and who's been here since.
