Starting point is 00:00:00 Hi and welcome to another episode of Wherewolf Ambulance. I'm here with my friend Alan. Hello Katie. Hi Alan. We're also here with our friend Mike. Hi Mike. Hey Alan. Hey Alan. Hey Kady. Hi Mike. this is a take-two for us because we just recorded this entire podcast and then this shit fucking throws and now we're doing it again. Hi Mike. Hey, this is a take two for us because we just recorded this entire podcast and then this shit fucking froze and now we're doing it again so I'm gonna try to remember all my jokes but I can assure you that they were hilarious God damn it garage band that's all right I will at least remember that the character I was trying to talk about young ones later. Mike brought us the film Frightmare from 1974?
Starting point is 00:00:49 Yep, 1974. British film. Before we get to talk about the film Frightmare, you want to give a brief Mike and horror films, history sort of lesson? Sure. So, I am the Mike Bollum that is regularly mentioned on this very podcast. Yep. I'm in second place to the thing and maybe just ahead of Katie's grandma.
Starting point is 00:01:14 Right above Nana. She's coming for you though. You watch out. So yeah, my early history. So I, as a kid, you know, know that was the probably the next run around in the in the early 80s for the 1930s universal films those were popping up on television a lot whenever I was a kid. Godzilla was on TV a lot when I was a kid, various Godzilla films. So that was most of my exposure. I do remember getting a kids edit of Dracula when I was a kid and
Starting point is 00:01:54 reading that and not being able to sleep for days. It was really messed me up. It didn't bother me while I was reading it but after I stopped reading it and the lights went out, it was trouble. Yeah. The, but yeah, it wasn't like really allowed to watch horror films. I never watched them at home. I didn't say, I don't think,
Starting point is 00:02:15 I've never watched an R-rated film with my mother. You had parents that paid attention to what you were watching. So we had cable but we didn't have any of the like pay channels so I didn't have access to HBO or Cinemax and I grew up in in Butler like out in the middle of nowhere Butler Pennsylvania so it it wasn't like I could just like sneak off to a video store where some like burnout didn't care what I like rented so my only access to getting videos was like if I went to the video store with my parents my mom so she so. so I so I so I so I so I so I so I so I so I so I so I so I so I so I so I so I didn't so I didn't th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th the th th th th th th th th th th th the th the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't th th that that that that to to the to the to the the the thenenenen't then't then't then't the the the the the the the the rented. So my only access to getting videos was like if I went to the video store with my parents, my mom, so she was not
Starting point is 00:02:49 she's not hanging that direction. That wasn't going to happen. You were like just this side of Amish. Yeah, so but then you would go over to go over to my neighbor's house who his parents didn't care. Yeah you got to have that friend. They just taped everything off of off of HBO and Cinemax. Hell yeah I was that friend. Yeah, three films per tape. Sure. Back to back to back. They had a notebook that indexed all of all of the films so that was that was my first exposure to more horror so I think that the fact that I wasn't allowed like it didn't happen at my house just made it even seem more like extreme. So it was even more taboo. Yeah. Yeah so you'd go over to Joey's house to sleep over and watch Nightmare in Elm Street or Friday and 13th. So those were my earliest exposure. I do remember I mean it was, you know, by the
Starting point is 00:03:43 probably the time I was like 9 or 10, those films were starting to show up. Like the early Friday, 13th, Halloween were on television, right? Yeah, severely edited. It wasn't allowed to watch them, but sometimes you'd be able to like catch part of it. The, uh, because they would always have the parental warning on the screen before it. I then. I would just show you anything without any more. TVMA, good enough. But there's like this big contain extreme.
Starting point is 00:04:09 So I didn't see much. And then once I got into high school and got a car, and got access to a car and could rent and stuff. I would see things here and there. Like I had a couple friends, friend Steve, his mom didn't care. So th, so th, so th, so th, so th, so th, so th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. tho, tho, I'd thi, that, thi, I'd tho, I'd tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, th. And, I'd th. And, I'd, th. And, I'd, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, like, thiiii. And, like, thiii. And, like, like, thi. And, like, like, thi. And, I'd thi. And, like and there. Like I had a couple friends, friend Steve, his mom didn't care so she would go and like rent us like Fantasim or something. So I saw a lot of the classics either chopped up on TV or at various friends house and yeah then started just like randomly renting stuff finally got to see things great films like Bloodsport and R-rated action films as well. Yeah, boy.
Starting point is 00:04:43 Oh Christ. Blunt sports. That's quality film. Yeah. And, you know, just picking out things that looked crazy and probably had boobs and blood in them because, you know, 17. Sure. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:59 Almost too. I was allowed to have Dungeons and Dragons. Yeah. That was not a problem. Thank God. But I went, yeah, then I went to college and got access to more video stores and had access to the, there used to be a theater in Oakland. There is now currently a T-Mobile store, but it used to be the Beehive coffee shop. They did a theater in the back, so they did a lot of first-run stuff. So I got to see Dead Alive on its U.S. tour.
Starting point is 00:05:30 I got to see reservoir dogs there. Ed Wood, play a 9 from Outer Space, double feature. Being able to see some of those kind of films there't do anything kind of halfway. So if I get into something, I have to really get into it. Full throttle Mike Bowen. Yeah. Do you think that's what led you down towards like the more extreme end of like exploitation and stuff? Yeah. You didn't want to go half way, you wanted to go full, fucking.
Starting point is 00:06:00 Yeah. I think I don't know where that came from. I mean th th you I mean tho tho tho tho that I that I tho that I tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho that that that that that that that that that, I that, I that, I that, I'm that, I that, that, to to to to to that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that that that that that that that that that, that, that, that, the the. the. the. the. the. the. theat, that, that, that, that, that, that, th screen. I think, I don't know where that came from. I mean, I think that, you know, this could probably possibly be more related to not being able to see the films whenever I was a kid, whereas it had this taboo, and then when I finally saw them, when I was older, I was like, well, that was kind of goofy. And so I was like, there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's like, there's like, there's there's there's like, there's like, there's like, there's there's there's there's there's thi.... thi. I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, I was like, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's, there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. to. th. to. to. th. to. to to thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. to be something more. So I've always like, always digging. Now, I mean, with the more extreme Gore films and revenge films and that kind of stuff,
Starting point is 00:06:29 the reason that those resonate with me is they get a visceral reaction out of me. That it doesn't like watching a goofy, like a goofy slasher movie made in 1999 doesn't do. Like I can watch it and it might be funny but it's not a comedy. Yeah and it's it doesn't yeah there's something about seeing something horrific that gets that I feel like it's doing what it's supposed to yeah whereas most horror films are just a joke now I mean it's the scream
Starting point is 00:07:00 problem which is my worst nightmare. Oh boy, here we go. To tap back to two weeks ago. I got the timeline right, guys. Yeah, I have to admit I was a little nervous about what you were going to bring us tonight, whether it was going to make me cry or not. No, I was, I appreciate your restraint. I mean, I do have a policy, like I don't like, I will let people know what they're about to watch. I went to see Cannibal Holocaust and Cannibal Fairox double feature two nights in a row. But the first night, friends of mine went and the gentleman failed to inform his lady friend
Starting point is 00:07:38 what was going to happen in these films and she actually got physically ill. Oh God. And I was like that's and she's just kind of like bum God. And I was like, that's, and she's just kind of like bummed. And I was like, yeah, that's like, he should have like let you know. Like, that was just kind of rude. I've introduced a lot of my friends to some of those films and it's always been that if you need to get me to turn it off, we'll just turn it off. We need to leave the room, just leave the room. So don't feel like, you have to tough this one out. Because I've definitely sat through that experience where somebody's like crying during a movie.
Starting point is 00:08:13 Jesus. Oh, my. Well, Freightmare was pretty tame comparatively. Yes. Right. So I wanted to pick something that neither of you had seen. And Alan has at least attempted to watch some of my favorites. And I wanted to, wanted to pick something kind of obscure, kind of weird,
Starting point is 00:08:37 but has definitely, you know, it's available on DVD and Blu-ray. It's probably Pete Walker's most famous film. There's a grindcore band named after either this film or the American film with the same name. Right. There's, you know, I mean the term is the word fright mare is on other things so I found some haunted houses online when I was looking for more information about the film. Yeah this movie does not come up in the first couple Google hits for Frightmare. Yeah, IMDB calls it the cover-up.
Starting point is 00:09:07 Oh, for some reason. I mean, that's one of the other titles. Yeah, yeah. It says the cover up and it says Frightmare, original title. But every DVD I've seen, every poster I've seen, it says it's a tha, tha, tha, tha, tha, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th, th, th, th, th, thr, thi, th, th, th, th, th, th. Oh, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, th, th, for, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, that. It's very whimsical. So this movie should we try to do like a quick synopsis? Yeah, Mike did a pretty good job only the first time around. It was really good. Do it again. Yeah, I mean one thing we'll put it. We mentioned this afterwords I think before, but but the film probably requires at least a second viewing if you didn't hate it the
Starting point is 00:09:52 first time around it's a little bit disjointed yes and the but it starts out in 1957 in black and white showing a long shot of a man walking through an amusement park or a fair or something To a trailer he knocks on the door all of all of that is shot at this very long single take He knocks on the door and then the door opens up and then it kind of turns into psychedelic weirdness with lots of still shots of dripping sinks and textures that are on the wall. Dirty dishes. Yeah, dirty dishes. And it's not real clear.
Starting point is 00:10:38 I think at some point what's supposed to be happening there. This just clicked. Is it at some point it switches to the eyes of the person who is interacting with him?. And what. And what. And what. And what. And what. And what. And what. the the the the the they.. And what they, they, they, they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they the the they the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. the. theat theat theat theat thean. thean. thean. thean. thean. thean. theat theat theat the point it switches to the eyes of the person who is interacting with him and what happened after they've done their deed. It seems when the door is open and you see him from the outside. Is that one that? Yeah, he comes up to the door and explains it. It's there for a tarot reading and then something happens.
Starting point is 00:10:59 Then it quickly cuts, it shows him dead with dead the dead, the dead, the dead, the dead, the dead, the dead, the dead, th, th, th, th, th, th, wound, then it quickly cuts to another black and white scene with a in a British court system with a very stern judge who, Katie, have the quote written down. So, yeah, I have two notes for this movie and one of them is just the quote from the beginning of this movie where he's, and it's not a quote, it's just a paraphrase of him, the judge being like, talking about how the crimes are so brutal and so terrible that he would give them the death penalty right away, except because of some thing in the law, some section 65 or something. Instead, they'll go to a mental institution
Starting point is 00:11:36 until they can are fit to rejoin society, which I was like, I was like, wait a minute. which I th, which I th, which I was like, which I was like, which I was like, which I was like, which I was like, which I was like, which I was like, which I was like, which I was like, which I was like, which I was like, which I was like, which I was like, which I was like, which I was like, which I was like, which I was like, which I was like, which I was like, which I was like, th.. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. I'm, th. thi. that, that, that, that, the. the that thean. thean. thean. thean. thean. the. the. the. they are so, what they have done is so terrible that they could be executed for it. It's like, we'll just let you out. We'll let you out in a little bit. And I wrote that down because I was like, that doesn't seem right. And as it turns out, I was right. And I feel vindicated.
Starting point is 00:11:55 So after that, it cuts I mean it's a very 70s European Horror vibe to it. It's just this bold red. I mean it was the same color that they used in the The hammer films like for the like the title sequences and then it jumps in and we're introduced to What we think are going to be the primary, or you know, a couple of the primary characters. Deborah, who is a juvenile delinquent, a 15-year-old who has recently left a convent or orphanage, they keep going back and forth, and sometimes people are offended by one or the other when it's brought up. I mean it was probably an orphanage run by nuns in a convent.
Starting point is 00:12:47 But for some reason sometimes people are upset by it. And her older half-sister who's supposed to be looking out for her Jackie. And so there's basically some family strife and Debbie doesn't want to listen to Jackie, and Jackie wants her to behave and there's all kinds of problems. Debbie sucks and she's a brat. She's a tie. She's the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the other the other the other the other the other the other th. the other th. the other th. So th. So th. So th. So, th. So, thi thi is thi's thi's thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi th. Sometimes people th. Sometimes people th. Sometimes people th. Sometimes people th. Sometimes th. Sometimes th. Sometimes the other th. Sometimes the other th. So the other the other th. So the other th. So the other thi's thi's thi's thi's te thi's te te te o' the o' the other the o' the other the other theea. So thea. So thea. So thi's thi's the the the to listen to Jackie and Jackie wants her to behave and there's all kinds of problems. Debbie sucks and she's a brat and she's sucks. She's a teen and she's an asshole. She's rolling with a, she's a tough motorcycle gang.
Starting point is 00:13:13 Yeah. Yeah, of adults. Yeah, full blown adults. Who do mention that she's underage? Yeah. Like the one guy's making out there and the other guy's like, you know, she's underage. You're jealous. Well, no, because that's a child. The, and then there's some scenes of them arguing with each other. And then we're introduced to, by Jackie going to visit them, her father, Edwin, and her stepmother, Dorothy, which isn't revealed until later that she's the stepmother.
Starting point is 00:13:55 But, and Jackie shows up with this package, this ominous package with blood dripping out. Right. That looks like package meat. Yeah, yeah, like wrapped in brown picture paper. And basically we spend about an hour of going back and forth and wondering. Yeah, I have a note here that just says, I've been watching this movie for 28 minutes and I have no idea what anybody is talking about or why. Because it just, it was definitely just a family drama for quite some time. Yeah. I mean, the, Jackie is an accompli the accomplice with the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the black. And. And, the the the black. And, the the the the black. And, the the the the the the, the the, the, the, the black. And, the, the, the, the the the the the the the the the the the the, and the, and the, and the, and the, and the, and the, and the, and the, and the, and the, and the, and the, and the, and the, and the, and the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the the the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the just a family drama for quite some time. Yeah, I mean the Jackie is an accomplice in a murder, the street gang.
Starting point is 00:14:33 No Debbie. Debbie. Yeah, Debbie. Jackie's nose is clean. Yeah. Debbie, Debbie gets kind of, gets in a little tussle, gets their boyfriends to beat up the bar, the bartender who wouldn't serve her. And then she goes and actually make sure he's dead and hides the body and maybe eats part of it. Was I, did I, did she kill him? Did she kill him? Did the boy, did her boyfriend kill him? Or did she kill him? I think it was implied that she killed him. After they left? He was maybe, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the bar, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, the bar, the bar, the bar the bar. I. I. I. I, the bar. I. I, the bar. I. I, the bar, the bar, the bar, the bar, the bar, the bar. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, the the the the the the the the the th. Did, th. Did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, did, the the the boy, did her boyfriend kill him? Or did she kill him? I think it was implied that she killed it. After they left. He was maybe dying. Oh, because there was the line that the police dropped later
Starting point is 00:15:12 that a bike chain did that. They're saying like, that was not what biker gang. Like, that was, there was more to happen to that body than just like he got beat up with a chain wrapped around your fist. Because the um the fight scene of them was basically just like five dudes pushing back and forth and not everybody going, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, and then I was like, how is he getting hurt? The old man, Burgess Meredith. Yeah, fake, big Burgess Mary. Yeah, he was great. British British British Parlet. I wish he'd been in more of the movie. And the movie. And the movie. And the movie. And, the movie. And, th. And, the movie. And, th. And, th. And, th, the movie. And, the movie. And, th, the movie. th, the movie. th. th. the th. th. th. How, how, th, uh, uh, th. And, th, th, th, th, the, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the f. the f. the fight, the Yeah, he was great. British, British Barleth. I wish he'd been in more of the movie, just to like tell us what was going on. Because he told us what was going on in that scene. I wish he could have popped up in every scene and been like, hey, Jackie and Debbie aren't
Starting point is 00:15:51 getting along. I don't know why he talks like that. He's a British newsy. scene where Dorothy is doing tarot cards, the mother. She's doing terro readings, and it turns out you get this weird vibe. These people are finding out about her in the newspaper. They show up and she's got this uncanny ability to read them. But they're all these lonely, lonely people.
Starting point is 00:16:21 And the, she's showing signs of being completely over the edge in those where everything seems nice nice grandmotherly style and then all of a sudden it's like you should have finished that tea it distracts me and there was another scene where she just mimics the woman's voice when she's like I think didn't I pay you a lot of money for this? And she's like, did I'm, I'm not a money for this? Delia! Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:50 So, um, and that's when, during one of those encounters is when you see that the mother is starting to unhing. Yeah, so she'd already, she'd already put the power drill to the other woman's hand. They showed the dead body. She was really happy about that. She was really happy. Oh, she was.
Starting point is 00:17:12 Oh, she was. She was chee'er. And the blood hits her mouth. And she like pushes the blood into her mouth. A great scene. classic here. But there was actually the hint that Debbie was there all along is Debbie was there during that second kill. What? With a lady with a funny hat? Oh, the curtain moving. I thought those were little animals. Little animal. Well, I just believe that they were little animals like the woman said. Well, when the father was trying to get into the house and all the doors were locked from the outside, she's like, she's like, she's........ their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. the the the the the the the the their. their. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the lady. the lady. the lady. the lady. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. the. te. te. tea. tea. tea. tea. te. te. te. the the the the the the the the the the. the outside. She's like, she's not dead yet.
Starting point is 00:17:45 Help me out. And she calls for somebody off screen to help her finish off. Well, a lot of action happened off screen in this film. Yeah. They do, there are a few gore payoffs. I mean, it's, it, the dead body and the trunk reminded me of the beginning of Night of Living Dead, where there's the skull at the bottom of the stairway when they first go into the house and the camera zooms in on it, it had that kind of
Starting point is 00:18:08 vibe. There is a few pretty gory, but they're kind of silly. I mean the gore's not. Yeah, like an HG-Lewis. Yeah, I mean the blood is very, very red, or, or temura paint, there, there, or, or, or, or, or, or, or, or, or, or, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their their their their, their is a little, their is their is their is their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, is a.. is a, is a little, is a few, is a few, is a few, is a few, is a few, is a few, the.guea. the. theau. theau. theauoooooooooooooom. their goree, their, their, their, their, technical or tempora paint red. And there's not a terrible amount of it either. It's not, it's not really. I mean, this film could be accused of, you know, being pretty slow, but exploitation films kind of, that's sort of what you're going into them expecting. I guess. At about the one hour mark, I leaned over to Allen and asked him what was happening because I still had really no idea. Yeah, well it's that like we said earlier in the the first take that flew away the it's that that 70s exploitation like
Starting point is 00:18:55 give them a kill right in the beginning or boobs right in the beginning and then do it again in the middle and then do it at the end so that you're keeping buts and seat. The rest of it can th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th the th th th the th th th th th th th th th the the the the the the the the the the tho tho tho tho tho the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the tho one tho one the the the theat theat theea. oneooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. the the the the the the the middle and then do it at the end so that you're keeping butts and seats. Yeah. The rest of it can just be patted out, you know. With family drama. Yeah. With family drama and layabout. And weird psychiatry. You're forced psychiatry. There's forced psychiatry. That's the only, yeah. But eventually, you know, everything's let out. Jackie's psychiatrist's boyfriend, attempts to do some psychoanalysis on the on on Debbie doesn't go too well Debbie's eventually the cops find out about the dead body in the car they're on the lookout for her there's an APB in the film which always makes me happy I'm
Starting point is 00:19:34 glad when there's an APB yeah that voiced over yeah yeah well she's riding through the countryside on the motorcycle like brown hair and you're like oh she's totally going to her mom's to the the to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the to the to to the to the to the to the the the the to the the the the the the the the to the the the the to the the the the the the to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th th the the tho the to to to to to to to to to to toy toy toy toy to to to to to the the the the the the motorcycle. Like brown hair. And you're like, oh she's totally going, well I was because I watched this movie last week, but I'm like, oh, she's totally going to her mom's house. She's on the lamb. Yeah. And the psychiatrist, boyfriend Graham, which, what'd you say, he looked like the? Oh, he's the English Iverglass. Yeah. He decides he's going to English Ira Glass. He decides he's going to go out there and try to see what's going on. He's going to go visit the parents because he finally got Jackie to break down and tell him what was going on. And then he had snuck off on his own and totally violated the family's privacy to go to the mental hospital to get all the details anyway.
Starting point is 00:20:22 So yeah Graham's actually like a real creep, but he's supposed to sort of be the hero, because I don't know that Pete Walker understands how humans are supposed to interact necessarily all that well. Or he didn't care. He didn't, you know, he didn't write it. So, no, he did. It was co-written with, um, oh, at the beginning it says written and directed by. Yeah, I think this is one of the ones that was in, he had a partnership with another guy that was like co-writing them.
Starting point is 00:20:50 But yeah, so basically Graham is supposed to be this like kind of sign of stability is just kind of a, feels like a creep in 2014 parlance, but he goes out and he goes out and he's going to try to trick the mother and see what's going on out there. So he goes out there for a reading and she's immediately on to him and then it turns out Debbie's there and then the whole ending goes crazy and I these guys will spoil it but I don't know I want to be the one that spoils it. You would said this movie is a it's all like based around levels of lying. It's like and Graham is just yet another liar throughout like the only people who aren't liar liars is Jackie has these two friends who are kind of do nothings throughout the movie except to sort of they set up Jackie and the
Starting point is 00:21:37 psychiatrist and they set up Jackie getting a phone call from Debbie but other than that they have no point except to be comic relief but they have like a to. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. I. th. I. I they. I th. I th. I they. th. I'm. I th. I they. I their. I their. I their. And. And they. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. the only. the only. the only. the only. the only. the only. the only. the only. the the the the the the the the the only. And. And. the the the the the the the only the the the the only the only the only the only the the only one. the the only one. the the only only one. the only one. the only one. the only only one. the only one. the only one. the only one. the only one. the onlythat they have no point except to be comic relief but they have like a ton of lines they appear in a ton of scenes they are just they are they're a handsome couple yeah the teeth what did you say I said the 1970s people have teeth color teeth teeth close to glowing glamorous whites Hollywood teeth yeah it was it was really refreshing yeah they were they were they were they were the. They were the the the the the the the the they were they were they were they were they were they were they were they were they were they were they were they were they were they were they were they were they were they were they were they were they were their. they were they were the their. they were they were they were their. they were they were they were they were. they were. they were. they were. they were. they were g. they were g. they were g. they were g. they were g. they were g. they were g. they were they were they were they were they were. they were. they were. they were. they were. they were. they were. they were. they were. they were. they were. they were. they were. they were. they were. they were. they were. they were. they were. they were. they were. they were. they were. they were. they were. they were. they were. they were. they were. they were. they were. they were. they were. theyeth. Yeah, it was really refreshing. Yeah, they were pretty useless. But they were my favorite part of the movie. Like, they were, because they were, they weren't nut bars, like everybody else in the movie, just seems like me, like every step they made was irrational. Yeah, everything they did was basically like they were the only real stability. I mean, I don't think that, I mean, Jackie was hiding things but right she wasn't I mean if
Starting point is 00:22:25 she was lying to anyone she was lying to herself well and her mother she was bringing in the well yeah the the the animal brains and and I and and I think and Debbie because she told Debbie that her parents were dead yeah yeah wow Jackie's a god-dame they're all like I would make the argument that the psychiatrist is the only one who wasn't lying because he was like I I I I I the the the the they. they. they. they. they. they. they. I I I they. I they. I they. I they. I was like I was like I was like I was like I was like I was like. I was like. I was like. I was like. I was like. I was like. I was like. I was like. I was like. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. She's. She's. She's. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I'm. I. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. the. the. the. the. the. the. I'm. the. the. the. the. I'm. the. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I'm. I'm. I. I. like. I would make the argument that the psychiatrist is the only one who wasn't lying because he was up front about everything. He was like, I did some research, I went to the hospital. I talked to your, I found out your parents were cannibals. It's the, the two roommates and the blonde girlfriend are the non-liars. Right. Yeah. Yeah. But they, yeah. So I think that they, yeah, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, the the, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I found, I found, I found, I found, I found I found I found I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I too, I too, I too, I too, I too, I too, I too, I too. I too. I too. I found, I the, I the, I the, I the so I think that, you know, the whole film's kind of built around that level of mistrust. I do think that there's not a lot here. If you remove the mother, Dorothy played by Sheila Keith, if that role wouldn't have been
Starting point is 00:23:17 done as well as it's done, it's very over the top. It has to be, it gets into like pantomime, but as far as like she sold me, I believe that she's a terrifying cannibal bunny. Yeah, I feel like she had to be kind of over the top to play to play that part. You couldn't, I feel that that part couldn't have subtlety, you know? And then her husband is just, sort of like a very spineless, like, I guess he loves her so much and doesn't want her to to to to to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go back her to go back her to go back her to go back her to go back her to go back to go back to go back to go back to go back to go to go to go back to go to go to go to go to go to go to go that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the to the to go to go the to go to to the to to the the the the, want her to go back to the institution but there's it's at the beginning they set him up to be the sympathetic character but by the end you realize he's just garbage like he's probably the root of most of this problem yeah like if he would just let this go but he just turns in the root of most of this problem. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:05 Like if he would just let this go, but he just turns in the hand ringing his performance of all the time. She like shows them these bodies that she has covered in hay in a barn somewhere I guess. And he's like, oh geez, oh well, let's go back in the house. How long you've been doing this since we got out, haven't you? what about the stuff the stuff the stuff the stuff the stuff the stuff the stuff the stuff the stuff the stuff the stuff the stuff the stuff the stuff the stuff the stuff the stuff the stuff the stuff the stuff the stuff the stuff the stuff the stuff the stuff th th. Deb haven't you? What about the stuff Debbie brought you? You know, Debbie's supposed to be bringing her human body parts because it makes her feel better that she can eat.
Starting point is 00:24:32 But she's really just bringing her calves brains. Right. It looked like whenever they finally opened one of the packages. Graham gets real snooty and up-and kind of abusive with Debbie. Jackie tome like or Jackie. Geez I can't keep Debbie and Jack. I did so good with Debbie and Jackie last time. Yeah, you're gonna get her right. This time. What was I gonna say about the father? Oh yeah, that was his hair. He wins best hair and best wringingness of handedness. Oh, I made a really funny joke in the first take about how he looked like he was playing Bach in a in a stage performance perhaps but. Did you pick Broms? Yeah it was Broms you're right.
Starting point is 00:25:14 God damn it! Everything is garbage. America's fourth president. Yeah, Broms. So this guy has a great, we talk about combovers I think probably in excess on this program. Yeah, Broms. So this guy has a great, we talk about comover is I think probably in excess on this program. Yeah, John Saxon's combover has gotten a shout out on here. Yeah, this this combover is more extreme than John Saxon's. It starts somewhere near his shoulder. Yeah. And then it's up on the the hair. Yeah. So yeah, I mean for me, the reason for to watch this film is Sheila Keith as Dorothy and you know I did a little very little looking around so she was a character actress in the 50s and 60s did a lot of British television, I think some film
Starting point is 00:26:02 work and then ended up in four, like I think consecutive Pete Walker films in various different modes, but always as kind of an extreme old lady kind of matronly controlling. Pete's probably had some other issues or something going on. Yeah, I was going to say, it seems like some sort of edible issues there. I'm not, I'm not big on Freud, but in House of Whipchord. I think it's the one where the the the the the the the the the thiiiiiii-theaicicicicic-s thi-s thi-like thi-like thi-like thi-like thi-s, I thi-s, I thi-like, I thi-s, I thi-s, I thi-c-s, I thi-s, I thi-s, I thi-s, I thi-aicic, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I-in, I-in, I-in, I-aic-a-a-a-c. I'-c. I'-c. I'-s, I'm-s, I'm-s, I'm-s, I think-s, I think-s, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thi-s, thi.eeee. I'm thi-s, I'm-I-a edible issues there. I'm not big on Freud, but in House of Whipchord, I think it's the one where she plays the lesbian prison warden. Thank you for not bringing that one, by the way. This one, she's playing the women's prison.
Starting point is 00:26:37 This one, she's playing the cannibal mother, who is basically on a killing spree and has a daughter who's ready to join the family business. In another one she's got like an eye patch and just like totally badass grandma. So she but then there was a I haven't seen it but I read about it I think it's on the blue ray release of Frightmare there's an interview with her before she passed away where she's clearly just a nice grandmotherly lady who who who is playing a character but she's pretty believable I mean imagine if she wasn't yeah I mean it's just walks in in the interview like pushing blood out of her I'm sorry money I mean putting it into our mouth she's got to seeing her in her in in in in the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the interview, like pushing blood out of her. I'm putting it into her mouth.
Starting point is 00:27:25 From seeing her in the other films, like, she seems like really intense. So, you know, she's going for it. And she's, you know, had to think these films are like ridiculous. I mean, they're not from her time, but... I'm sure they were fun. Yeah. Yeah. That's what these movies were all about you know it was a paycheck so she never appeared in any of his his up soft-core porn
Starting point is 00:27:48 films now I don't know that we mentioned that I don't know all right Pete Walker started with doing sex exploitation sex comedies some to some today sex comedies some softcore and my favorite film title is which I have not seen yet hopefully someday I think it's either I think it's four dimensions of Greta that's a it's a great film title it's a 3D three D film yet then he grew kind of bored so he was you know it was a very utilitarian mechanical filmmaker it's this was his job right so like a lot of people doing you know low-budget sex comedies and sex exploitation films get it get some girls naked get it on the screen collect the money get some more girls naked get it on the screen
Starting point is 00:28:38 collect some more money he got bored of that saw the limitations of the genre after probably doing like eight or ten and then He got bored of that, saw the limitations of the genre after probably doing like eight or ten, and then moved into doing horror, did another six or eight films and then got out of the business. Went on to do development, business developments, and ran, from what I understand, ran a theater. He's still alive, I think it's probably 80-ish. Okay. And he did the commentaries on these films.
Starting point is 00:29:08 And there's a funny quote on IMDB that I should have looked up in the in-between. But it's basically saying when he went back and saw these films, he had not watched them, probably since he made them. And he's like, huh, those weren't as bad as bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad bad. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. they they they they they they they they they're they're they're they're they're to I I to to to to to toeean. toean. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. th. th. th. to. them. And he's like, huh, those weren't as bad as I thought they were going to be. But he also talks about how there was, you know, people are looking for these subtexts and all this other stuff. He's like, no, it was just a movie. Not art. Don't look, don't, don't go looking too deep into it. Did we mention that Debbie is anti-pants. the te. thirty, Debbie, Debbie, Debbie, Debbie, Debbie, Debbie, Debbie, Debbie, Debbie, Debbie, Debbie, Debbie, Debbie, Debbie, Debbie, Debbie, Debbie, Debbie, Debbie, th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, the thi, their, their, their, the the, their, their, their, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th. And, thi, thi, the, thi, the, they, thi, ta, ta, ta, ta, ta, ta, tha, the, the, of her screen time and she's the 15-year-old daughter, 80% of her screen time around her under pants.
Starting point is 00:29:51 Yeah, just wandering around in the apartment or hanging out without pants. When the psychiatrist comes over she has to like quickly put pants on. Right. Well, she doesn't quickly put the pants on. It is a wiggle and then a pool, pull, and th and th and the th, and th, and the p pp, and th, and th, and th, and their, and th, th, their, th, th, their, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, their, th, their their their, th, their their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi's, thi's, thi's, thi's, thiiiiiiiiiiiii's, they's, they's, they's, the pants on. It was like a wiggle and then a pool, pull, and then like a jsh. That said, was there a jush? There was a jush, because she had to get, she had to jush him up over, but you know. I mean, that said this was, I think the first Pete Walker film that doesn't feature an excessive, or any nudity, actually, there was some of his earlier films. It was, oh, new woman character. Tiddy.
Starting point is 00:30:25 Tiddy. Oh, Katie. Oh, please. Like, this is even the first episode I've said, titties in. What else do you have in your nose? Just titties written over? Just titties. Why did Mike bring us a movie without boobs?
Starting point is 00:30:42 We've seen so few movies so far without boobs. It's true. In my notes it says how I'm annoyed that the British mispronouncing everything. Oh yeah, what was it? Because the main, the Dorothy keeps calling, referring to her migraines. She gets migraines. She's like, God damn it, Britain. It's fucking pronounced things properly. And, uh... Well, I did want to mention the music for this film was done by Stanley Myers, who also did the music for the Deer Hunter and Watcher in the Woods, amongst a bunch of other films. I think he did the other, uh, Pete Walker movies too.
Starting point is 00:31:23 It has a little porny vibe to it, funky baselines and funk. Yeah, it's got that porn interstitial sort of, yeah. And when you say interstitial you mean? Uh, the, the, like, not the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the the the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, porn, porn, porn, porn, porn, porn, porn, porn, porn, the, po, po, po, po, p.............. the, p.. the, p. the, p. the, p. the, p. the, p. P. P. P. the, p. the, p. the, p. the, p. the, p. the, p. P. the, p. P. the, p. the, p. P. the, p. the, p. the, p. the, porn, porn, p. the, p. the front door. Oh sure, sure, yeah, that is. It's not the full line, drop the bass, funk. Right, right. That's what I imagine it would be like. Wow, chicken, wow. It hasn't hit that. No. It's a buildup. Right, right. Okay. Gotcha. It's your anticipatory. Gotcha. Cool, cool. Well, they'll be porn soon. This isn't porn. the porn's coming. Porn delivery music. Yeah, no, that's pretty much all I've got. I did write English higher glasses of dick because he keeps like, he's just forcing psychotherapy on these people, like, and then telling it to what they need. I sort of wonder if that was just a difference of like psychology in, or psychiatry, I guess, in the 70s as opposed to now where it's like I don't know
Starting point is 00:32:25 somehow sexier or like I'm a psychiatrist yeah like it was popular in the 70s it's kind of a have like an analyst right but he was still apologizing but he like kind of made it because they're like oh don't tell her I'm a psychologist that always gets everyone in the room to shut up like so he's still kind of making your psychiatrist so I think you know the 70s was the first time it came into fashion that you could have a like a psychiatrist go to a psychiatrist and not be like crazy air quotes air quotes crazy but you know it's not like it still wasn't as ingrained in
Starting point is 00:33:06 society as it is now where it's like everybody's got an analyst yeah I've I have like four he also had a bit of that like Ian Fleming character Dennis Wheatley character of like the educated man knows what everybody around him needs yeah yeah the authoritative and it was not especially women are gonna be told what they need yeah Jackie's like why would you have done this? I, why would you do this? And he's like, well, you wouldn't have let me. Like, well, maybe you shouldn't have done it then if she didn't want you to have done it. Yeah, I think, and it was not done as a social commentary at all about men or about society. And mean he was like doing that because it was the right thing to do. There was nothing in the film that made you think like
Starting point is 00:33:50 oh he shouldn't have done this. I mean we knew because we're reasonable human beings. I think the some of the other things worth noting about this film is you know in the 60s and 70s British horror was basically hammer and amicus. Those were the primary producers of film. This was definitely outside of that and it didn't match either of their styles at all. This was much more closely related to what was happening in America around the same time with the Texas Chainsaw Massacre and Last House on the left.
Starting point is 00:34:28 Yeah. And as we've been truly, it does have like a healthy dose of that H.G. Lewis, like it feels like at point at like a blood feast or something, like the way that Sheila Keith is like totally over the top. In my notes notes she gets a lot out of the people's eyebrow. Yes. She keeps just everything is a raised eyebrow and a glare and it's felt very it felt very like almost silent film acting like she was just using her face to bring everything to the screen. And she doesn't, I mean, it's not a character that you like has been able to throughout the film kind of hold things together and occasionally gives you a hint to to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th the the the people the people the people the people the people the the people the people the people the people the people the people the people the people the people the people the people the people the people the people the people the people the people to bring to bring to bring to bring to bring to bring to bring to bring to bring to bring to bring to bring to bring to bring to bring to bring to bring to bring to bring to bring to bring to bring to bring to bring the the the the the the the the the the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the people the people the people the people the people the people the people, has been able to throughout the film, kind of hold things together and occasionally gives you a hint
Starting point is 00:35:08 that she's crazy. Right off the bat. Like, you're, I don't know, she's just been standing in places and listening. Yeah, like. She comes, she like emerges from the shadows in her first scene. Oh, Jackie, I'm always so happy to see. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that, that, that, that, that, that, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th.. th. that. that. that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, th. th. th. th. th. th I'm always so happy to see you. No you're not lady. And the cannibalism is largely off screen too you don't actually for for something that I the trailer of this movie had made it seem like it was gonna be super
Starting point is 00:35:33 gory but you don't actually see any like sinking your teeth into anything cannibalism. The the trailer and actually even Alan busted out his encyclopedia of horror. He brought it over, he's like, does this line up with the film? And I was like, if you're hoping for this, you're going to be a little bit disappointed. Yeah. It's, you almost get the feeling. The trailer for this film and the poster are just like grizzly. Yes, seriously. What you say? The trailer actually says like, this is this is, this is, this is, this is, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we can, we can, we can, we can, we can, we can, we can, we can, we can, we can, we can, we can't, we can't, we can't, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th, th.... th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th th th the th th thr. th thr. th th. th. th. the, th. What'd you say? The trailer actually says like,
Starting point is 00:36:05 this is all we can show. This is all we can't show you any more of this film on a trailer. But that's really all the grizzly scenes there are. They showed them all. We're not going to show you the rest because gross. Right. That elicited a sound effect from dating. It did go into the dude's eye. So it was like even grosser. Eye horror gets me too.
Starting point is 00:36:32 And there's a lot of eye horror in this, in this, because Debbie takes out, presumably Debbie takes out the barman's eyeball too, which you see when he's like in the trunk of the car. And they linger on it for a really long time. Yeah, and I kept like gazing into it too. Like I was like, look at it, where to go? Well, they get the money's worth on it because they show the same exact, it's the same exact camera shot. They just re-splaced it in
Starting point is 00:36:53 when the copse it. be in that trunk for like you know a couple days that poor actor. Yeah there's the scene where the grandmother kills Debbie's boyfriend who who brought her out to the house but now he knows too much because he stumbled across the bodies. He didn't seem like he knew anything you know he was he discovered the he discovered the body he was like hey. He was like, hey, there's a body there. Yeah. He had a very Italian name. I can't remember what it was.
Starting point is 00:37:30 It was like, it was like, it was like, it was first, it was first name. It was like, Markolini or something like, hey, I too. He did. He was handsome. He looked a little bit like Mickey Dolans. I was sad to see him die, honestly. I knew he was going to, but yeah, well, you know. We've got to look out for our own. They, uh, yeah, so I mean, that, that seems pretty grizzly. The barman, I mean, you see the dead body in the trunk, mostly the camera pulls away.
Starting point is 00:38:06 You know, the movie poster for this featured a blacked out eye, image of Dorothy, very cart, I mean it's a painting, it's not even like a photograph, holding this drill with this nasty blade on the end that's used for opening big holes in wood. And they show her in the film with a drill with a dril with a br-., with a the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the, with a the, with a the, with a the, with a the, with a the, with a the, with a the, blade on the end that's used for opening big holes in wood. Right. And they show her in the film with a drill with a normal bit in one scene. From that encyclopedia is like, she uses a drill throughout the film and I was like, you watch the trailer.
Starting point is 00:38:37 You can watch the whole thing. I wonder if there's different edits of this film too. Yeah, I don't know. There is a is is is is a th. There's is th. There's th. There's th. T. There's th. T. T. T. T. T, th. T, th. T, th. T, th. Blah. And so I feel about quality. Blah. Yeah. I've heard that the Blu-ray they cleaned up the color a lot.
Starting point is 00:38:54 Oh, you mean they didn't? Do they still use the blue gel for night. They do definitely use the psychiatrist's boyfriend comes to the door of the grandmother's house and he knocks on the door and it's night time and they open the door and he's standing outside talking in it's night, it's the blue scene but there's like loud birds chirping all over the place. They use the blue as night, you know, it's some in-camera setting or something. They're like clearly trying to drown it out with the bird the bird the bird the bird the bird the bird. the bird. the bird. the bird. the bird. the bird. It's. It's. It's, the bird. It's, the bird. It's, the bird. It's, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. It's the. It's night's night's night's night, theateateat.oomorrows. It's night's night's night, their their their their their their night's night, their night's night, trying to drown it out with the sound of like swirling winds too, and it's just not drowning out the bird sounds.
Starting point is 00:39:27 I'm really into it. Well, Alan, what did you think of this movie? Katie, I like this movie. Did you? Yeah, I wasn't crazy about it, but I can see it getting better after multiple watches. Mewings maybe. So a numeric ratinginging, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm th, I'm th, I'm th, I viewings maybe. So numeric rating I'm going to give this a seven. I'm going to give this movie a seven. I am. For me this one suffered a bit from without warning disease meaning that it...
Starting point is 00:39:54 Don't shake your head at me old dudes. I see you shaking your old heads at me, like old dudes. At least it wasn't Alu-Karta. I'm not getting into that with you at all. I don't have to defend myself on my podcast. It's true you don't. No it's just that it was you know a couple of like great death scenes and then just a lot of people talking which I get it you know it's a low budget thing. Right. But in that case just shorten the damn thing up. Just make it come in. You gotta get 120 minutes in the can or it's not a future film. How many minutes was this?
Starting point is 00:40:31 It was a it was 88. Well not 120. 85 is an 80. 85 is an 80. I mean, these. I love exploitation movies but they really do that. I mean. I mean, it's, they sell this with a poster and with a trailer that you saw in the theater the week before.
Starting point is 00:40:49 They sell this extreme movie and then it's this hour and 15 minutes of family drama. And 15 minutes of a horror film. I mean, something with that just resonates with me personally. Like, I love those kind of movies when nothing happens for the first hour. And th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th and th and th and th and th and th and th and th and th and th and the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I the, I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I the, I the, I the, I the, I the the thoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooe, I the, I personally like I love those kind of movies when nothing happens for the first hour and then you're like holy crap and then you're like god another 20 minutes of nothing yes all right so give me give me a throw a number at me six and a half oh oh yeah Sheila Keith put you up over the time yeah I thought she was great yeah I'd put this at it as seven you know seven seven seven seven seven and5. I mean, it's not like, one of my favorite films of all time, but I think it's fun and it like fits into my stuff that I feel like is my movies. Like, Mike's. This is Mike's. Yeah, but no, the, like, Bollum films. Yeah, it's, you know, I wanted to go in with something that wasn't like too over the top top, but, the to..... the too, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Starting point is 00:41:45 at least tried to watch most of my like top movies and we have a lot of overlap right of the top with things like the thing and you gotta bring it up it has to be mentioned haven't noted that I did not mention the thing that that the thing the thing the thing. That's true. Yeah the thing, the thing, Texas Chainsaw Massacre, I mean, those are, right, you know, there was talk of Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2 for my film but I I just, I promised you that I would after I saved your life and I didn't. Anyway, I saved your life during So I think that's about all we've got for for Frightmare. I want to thank Mike for coming out and showing us this movie.
