Werewolf Ambulance: A Horror Movie Comedy Podcast - Episode 100- The Monster Squad (1987)

Episode Date: September 19, 2016

100 episodes!! In this week's episode, we pretty much get super psyched on having reached 100 and basically throw ourselves a birthday party. You're gonna love it. We also celebrate by discussing an a...bsolute favorite film of both of ours: the 1987 classic "The Monster Squad." Special topics include: a trip down podcast memory lane that was sparked by the amazing statistical work of Emily, an A+ EMT. You can see all her data on both our Facebook and Instagram. We also get into the many questions of "The Monster Squad," excellent children, some more advice for both children and and adults, the scariest monsters and squad goals achieved.  THANK YOU, you guys. Thank you all so much who have been with us in getting here, with a particular thanks this week to Nix of Plight of the Living Dead and her Zombmes, which you can see at https://www.facebook.com/ZombMe. And you just said, can you write. that if they tried. Well do you have forks or what? Yeah I do. Do you want cake right now?
Starting point is 00:01:05 Well I thought when you're going to make me look at a cake for... Are they up here? You've got to go downstairs? Yes. This is cool. This is cool. This is cool. You know a present? From a listener? This feels like my fucking birthday. And it is your birthday, happy hundredth.
Starting point is 00:02:35 My, my bones hurt. What'd we get? We got a present from our listener, Nick's muse. Holy shit, look at these. Look at them. We will post photos of these. She handmade these. This is insane. Can you describe this with your words?
Starting point is 00:02:50 Because I don't have words for this. All right, so imagine if you will, our logo with the wherewool thi. Yes. Now, take that weird eye. It has a won't the eye. It's amazing. He's got the, what's this called, the thing on the bed, the,
Starting point is 00:03:10 oh, the doctor symbol? No, the hibiscus, the, uh. Oh, shit, that's what it is. Also, this is amazing. Nix, this is amazing. Thank you again for these. She made us a special bag with nicknames that we gave ourselves like 50 episodes ago. I forgot how we gave ourselves nicknames. That's further proof that giving yourself a nickname means it doesn't stick.
Starting point is 00:03:36 Exactly. No one has called me lefty or to stretch. Are you left the lefty and stretch. left-handed yes yes but I'm not tall enough to be stretch like five eight probably as stretches that lady was I gotta be like six foot I'm still working on it so am I lefty and stretch yeah yeah you're the tall one god damn it what do I get to be righty cake eater cake eater cakey cake kakey kakey ne ki nix these are incredible yeah this is amazing thank you she makes these plush dolls. They're called Zamb-Mise. I'm sorry, I have a mouthful of cake at all times. I know on Facebook she does Light of the Living Dead, where you can find these things on
Starting point is 00:04:12 there and ZOMMEs. I'll spell that ZUM the individual like fur, like definition is hand stitched in there and there's little functional pockets to hide your weed. These are amazing. Thank you again, Nix. Thank you. Thank you everyone. Thanks everyone for all of your help and all of your love and all of your love and all of your kind words and even all of your not so kind words because we took those to heart too. Probably harder than we did the kind of words. Oh yeah, I definitely lost sleep over things.
Starting point is 00:04:53 Oh, you know, I don't know who needs it. Yeah, thank you for listening for one episode. Yeah, thank you for listening to to their their. their. Yeah. their. Yeah. their. Yeah. their. Yeah. their. Yeah. Yeah. the. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. tho. tho. tho. Probably tho. Probably tho. Or just the it episode because everybody's listening to that episode. Yeah, and for telling your friends and for buying stuff from Jason and Mike and Dylan. And us, the t-shirts. And rating us on iTunes and pitting us on iTunes and putting up with me and the head. I really appreciate that. You're not eating yours. It's're good to eat it. I'm talking to a microphone. It's two things are not mutually exclusive. Hold on.
Starting point is 00:05:28 You're right. Enjoy it, live your life. It's your goddamn show. Guys, there's cake, there's presents. It's a birthday, it's our hundred episode. And we're about to talk about a fucking movie. Not a movie. Not a movie. A fucking lifestyle. A masterpiece, if you will? Here's the thing. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:46 I have loved this movie since I was a small child. What's the name of this movie? Uh, a monster squat? Monster squat is what it's called. Since you were a little kid. It's a 53% on rotten tomatoes. I don't know, here's the thing. I'm watching it critically. Oh, this doesn't make any goddamn sense. Yeah, but it makes sense from joy. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:05 It makes joy more than it makes sense. This episode, 100 episodes in, I finally realize what you're doing, which is like, why you can't look beyond all the logistical errors of movies. Because I could not look beyond the logistical errors of this movie. I actually think, like, I'm surprised that Fred Decker didn't have more work after this this this this this this this this this th th th th th th th th th th th th th th. I th. I th. I thi thi thi thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thoom, I thi, I'm thi, I'm tho- I'm this episode. I'm this episode, I'm thoes, I thoes, I tho, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'll, I'll, I'll, I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was tho, I'm, I'm thi, I'm thi. thi. thi. tho, I'm tho-I'll tho-I'm tho-I'm just just just just just justa-I'm tho-I'm tho-I'm tho-I'm tho-I'll tho-I. I'm surprised that Fred Decker didn't have more work after this Night of the Creeps and Robocop 3, Undercup, and they were all critical failures and like box office failures. This movie, Monster Squad was in the theater for two weeks.
Starting point is 00:06:34 Really? Before it got pulled. How insane is that? Like this movie that is like foundational for who I am today was such a failure across the board, but like it's a, another testament to to to the the to the the the to the the their their their th. the th. the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th. th. th, th. the, the, the, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th.. And, th.. And, th... And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, thin, thin, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the, like, the, like like was such a failure across the board but like it's a another testament to VHS culture yeah yeah it's kind of difficult to find it's not on Amazon it's not on Google Play oh really yeah I did illegally download it because I had a DVD rip of a VHS and it was like unwatchable oh yeah I think I bought it on eBay like 10 years ago and the even the cover art was just like a photocopy of a color photocopy and it was completely unwatchable. So I illegally downloaded it, which is not right.
Starting point is 00:07:12 Look who we've driven you to. You know what? I've been doing that since the beginning. Remember when we streamed God Monster of Indian Flats? I do. Why did we do that? Oh, speaking of, that just reminded me of something. One more thing to celebrate before we get too far into this. Our listener, Emily, sent us scattergraphs? Yes. Lists, charts? Did you look at all that stuff?
Starting point is 00:07:34 I did. It's pretty insane. You guys are going to lose your goddamn. It's insane how much work she's done for something where I am literally talking about butts most of the time. I know, how many times have I said dick, Emily? Why don't you count that? Please don't, that's a horrible thing to do. How many times if I said I don't like myself?
Starting point is 00:07:55 Why isn't that in the time? But yeah, like, I can I say that all the time. I had no idea. Right, right, right? Just like I fucking say right at the end of everything? Do you? Yeah, I never noticed it. I said I edited it all out of the podcast. Why don't you edit me saying you know what I mean? Because it's usually poignant. It's not. I'm usually like... Or pertinent even. Pertinent. Perent even. Perent maybe poignant, certainly not. But yeah. the, pert. P pert pertinent. P pertinent. P pertinent. P pertinent. P pertinent. P pertinent. Yeah. P pertinent. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I thinent. I thinent. I thinent. I th. I'm, I'm per per pertinent. I'm, I'm pert. I'm to. I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm. I'm. I'm. I to. I to. I to. I to. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I'm t t t t t t t t t t t t t t t t t t t to to to th. I th. I th. I certainly not. But yeah, I wanted to make sure that we thank to Emily right at the top. Yes, thank you. And you gave her a t-shirt, right? Gave her a t-shirt, right?
Starting point is 00:08:29 Good. Yes. This is actually just a retrospective on old episodes that we're going to do. We're not going to put that sad NPR music in there. That's one where I listened to it afterwards and I was like, I don't always listen to them. Sure. Why would you? I don't know. Just to like feel bad about myself.
Starting point is 00:08:56 I do so that I can go back and go was like maybe you should start going to therapy every week instead of every other. My therapist then built another wing on his house, put a swimming pool in, the Katie wing. You could hear him pushing the gold shovel in to announce the swimming pool. Cut the ribbon for his family you know, we're glad Katie's so crazy. Hey daddy, thanks. What's your favorite episode to know what I'm thi th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi the the the is the is tho tho that the the, the, tho tho tho th. th. th. th. th. the. that that that that is that is that is that that that that that that that that that that th. I that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that the. I the the the an the an the an the an theeeee an thee an theeeeee theeeee. I theeat. I the. I theat, Daddy, thanks. What's your favorite episode to know what I'm thinking about it? Oh, geez. Do you have one? I don't know. I think I'm going to go with a warlock.
Starting point is 00:09:32 Number one. Number one. Number one. Number one. theymeak. No. to. the the.
Starting point is 00:09:43 There. Do you know what I mean? I do. There, there, there it is. It's burden. I feel like half the time, I'm just a tone poem that's just like, Baudibabab-Baudib. Like I'm not even making words anymore. What do you mean? You've got words. You use them.
Starting point is 00:09:55 The reason that God Monster reminded me of the scathe that that, thanks, that, that, that, that, that, thank you again Emily. Thank you, Emily. Is that I was looking back on that and I gave that a point five. Yeah. And after watching, I don't know, ghost ship, yeah, the happening. Yeah, it wasn't so bad, let's be honest. And, and I know what you did last summer and I'm like, I was really hard on God Monster of Indian Flats. No, you know what though, it was, it was like, it was five episodes. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. Yeah, thi. Yeah, thi. Yeah, th. Yeah, thi. Yeah, thi. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I. Yeah. Yeah, I, th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, it. Yeah, it's, it's, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. for a moment and think about God Monster of Indian Flats. Other than that monster with the weird neck, what do you even remember? It was just like, do you remember it was just like a western? Yeah, oh that's right. That's right. It was fraught with racism. Those two guys I thought were going to kiss at one point and they didn't kiss. What else? What else? What else? they? they? they? they? they? they? they? they? they? they? they? they? they? they? they? they? they? they? they? they? they? they? they? th. th. they? th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the th. the the woman, the doctor, the woman, had the worst name.
Starting point is 00:10:46 I can't remember what it was. They were in like the room with the tanks that are all covered in trash bags. Oh yeah. You know what, maybe it was a good movie. Sorry, Carrie. Sorry, we let you down on that one. It's always going to be better than go better than than than go better than go better than go than go than go than go go than go go go go than go go go than go go go go go go go than go go go go go go go than go than go than go thanthat it's better than Ghost Ship. Yeah. That might be my least favorite movie we've done. Was that the lowest rating you gave?
Starting point is 00:11:06 Was God Monster? We've, I think God Monster is my lowest, other than just giving things zeros. What did you give a zero to, I got a zero to darkness falls? Do it. I gave a zero to darkness falls. is curdled eggnog. Did I say that? About Darkness Falls? Cool. That's funny. Emily included notes about the ratings. That's amazing. I just skimmed it before I left work. That's so good. Yeah. Darkness falls might be the only one I gave us zero two. Yeah, other than not rating, Queen of the Dam. You also didn't rate Queen of the Dam? Did we just not do a ratings phase?
Starting point is 00:11:46 Or did we refuse? Like, honestly, that was like four weeks ago and I can't remember. I think we just refused because it was so fucking terrible. Oh, but Alia. Pay the Ghost does have my God, I'm funny sometimes. You're funny all the time. I like the notes for Alu-Karta are just, what?
Starting point is 00:12:10 Why? That was an episode. That was an episode. That's why? Why? Like, why? that's a Mike Bollum told me it's good. It's not good Mike. That's Texas Chainsaw Massacre 2. Which you gave a 7.5? That's a weird. Yeah. Sometimes I just don't know
Starting point is 00:12:31 what I'm doing. I should also state that Emily could just be doing revisionist history and changing all her scores and neither of us were remembering. Oh my god. I don't even remember. I don't even remember what happens in slumber. the movie. the movie. the movie. the movie. the movie. I th. I th. I the movie. I th. I th. I th. I th. I t. I t. I t. I t. I t. I t. I t. I'm t. I'm t. I'm t. I t. I'm te. I'm t. I'm t. I t. I t. I'm t. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I just. I t. I t. I t. I t. I t. I t. I t. I t. I t. I t. I t. I t. I t. I t. I t. That's the one that had takes place in the house and like the they're just the hero killer just killing them off on one by one he's the weird guy with the drill. What about the beyond? What was that? What about the beyond? What was that? What about the the guy's eyeball? What? Yeah yeah yeah yeah? Yeah I got you. That was that. That was the that. That was that. That was that. That was the that. That was the that. That was the that the the that that that the that the the that that the the the the the the the the the one the one the one the the one the the one the the one the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes ta. ta. the ta. the the the the the the the the the takes the spiders. Spiders. That ate the guy's eyeball and peeled his lips. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I got you. Now is when it's revealed that Katie doesn't actually watch any of these movies. I'm just calm. I just read the Wikipedia page and then make my mind up from that.
Starting point is 00:13:13 We did wax work. Yeah. Oh yeah, Billy from Grimmolnets. Was the prophecy the Christopher walking? Okay, see look I remember? I remember? Someone just asked me the other day what the jaws ripoff was, my friend Christina. Yeah, I was like the last shark, Ill-Ultimal Squallow. See, I remember. Katie, what? What?
Starting point is 00:13:36 What? What? What? the the ?. the Lambs. Oh God. The other one's a wild card. Something very stupid, I'm sure.
Starting point is 00:13:48 No, not stupid. Not the Shining. We both gave it a 10. We both gave it a 10. We both give it a 10. We both give it a 10. We both give it a 10. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:13:57 You're going to make me guess all of them? I'm making sure that that, yeah, we both give it a ten. It's from 2015. Oh, the witch. Yeah. That was great. What else do we have? From this, from the skater group? Yeah. Did I say anything else funny?
Starting point is 00:14:14 Yeah. Uh, I still think Carrie saying hand turkey is one of my favorite. thii. to the that episode is so poorly downloaded because people haven't seen the movie because Carrie was just like exceptionally funny Lepar gown on the hood this movie is a bag of stems and seats. Oh that's funny. That I remember saying which seems ironic. Given my memory problems.
Starting point is 00:14:36 For Halloween 3? No for demons I said if I could do an 11 I would do an 11 for this movie. Which one was Demons? That's the one with the motorcycle katano. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, how could I forget? Here's the thing about the Italian movies, I just don't remember what they're called. I'm just that Italian movie to me. This is all of the movie. Yeah, it's amazing. that's, I'm th. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. that. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. th. th. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. to. the. to. the. the. the. the. the. the. tha. the. tha. the. the. tha. tha. th on it. All right. Are you ready? Yeah, I don't think we need to do a synopsis of Monster Squad. No, let's address all of my questions
Starting point is 00:15:06 one by one. Yes, please. Where? The scene that it opens on the like hundred years they blew it, you know, scene. Where is that taking place? Transylvania. Why is there is there an armadillo? Why is there the beginning of the bea? the the the thia? th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. thi. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the beginning of the 1935 or 36 Dracula there's an armadillo why because they wanted weird exotic animals they're just in Texas it's an armadillo fine there's also a bee that comes out of a tiny coffin in the beginning of Dracula which is great I guess I've never seen it or I've forgotten it which is also just so plausible yeah the Todd Browning Dracula has a has an armadillo scrolling through it okay I the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th I th I th. I'm an armadillo scrolling through it. Okay, I got a little mad about the armadillo, but I didn't know him. Yeah, it's a reference.
Starting point is 00:15:47 Oh, all right, fine. Should I go through all my questions? Yeah, please. Yeah, okay. You were into the question. to get them right? to get the way. to?
Starting point is 00:15:57 they? them. I love them. I love them. I'm going to imagine they flew in Vietnam together. And then they were professional or like, what's it called when you fly people? Brian from wings. They were, they were like, they were like, they were like, the the their their their their their their their, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, they....................................................................................... to complain. Nobody's been talking about. You couldn't think of the name of a professional person who flies people as airline pilots. No, it's good.
Starting point is 00:16:30 No, we have a job about words. Yeah, so they were in NAM together. Yeah, so they were in NAM together. Sure. They both used to, you know, bang stewardt's and stuff and yeah. So many divorces have they gone through. Oh yeah. Anulments really, probably. And now they're kind of on hard times, so they're doing this like courier thing.
Starting point is 00:16:52 Yeah. And they're flying dead bodies. Who helped them? Like who, who commissioned this work? Dracula? So it's a office that's, the night, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi? Oh, th. th. th. th. th. th. thi? Oh, th. th. th. th. th. they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, thi. And, thi. And, th th thi. And, th th to. And, th th th th th th they. And, they're, they're, they're, they Dracula can call in. Because he doesn't have a Redfield, unless Redfield's back home. Yeah, I don't know. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:10 Okay. Where do I get a skullhode ornament for my carola? You have to have a ghost car. Shit. What about a milkshape? to their it detailed. They might be able to get it up. That's complicated. Where do they live that that huge snake also lives there in the swamp? Where is it? The swamps of Los Angeles?
Starting point is 00:17:31 I don't know. And they're like Spanish moss swamps. Yeah. It's New Orleans, but it isn't. It was just spooky time. Okay, why does creature not get any do in this movie? He's so good and they use him not at all. Why? Um, because much like Aquaman, he's kind of crap on land. He's like, if there's not a lot of them fucking around in the water where he'd really
Starting point is 00:17:56 be in his element. Yeah, but he seems strong. He's got those pecks and those abs. And all he does is like roll around and get shot. .. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to. to. to. theee. to. to. thi. the. the. thi. the. thi. thi. th. th. shot. Yeah. He looks great. Oh man. I love him. And he just does not get used enough. I want to pod down from the questions right now and just talk about Stan Winston's creature design in this.
Starting point is 00:18:13 Sure. They took the film to Universal and were like we'd like to do this. And Universal was like cool, cool, cool, you can do it, but they can't look like our universal monsters. Okay. So they had to like, change them enough. Which is just barely, I would say, yeah. But like, the Stan Winston's spin on all of them, I think is like, the mummy looks fucking amazing.
Starting point is 00:18:38 I love the mummy. I love the mummy. The mummy getting unraveled is my favorite scene. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. By far. The Gilman looks amazing. The werewolf is probably the weakest of them, just because he has like, he can't move his neck. Yeah, boy, he's got those shoulders. Yeah, I mean, he's cool looking, but like as far as like being able to do a thing. Yeah, thranked the thin's thr. Yeah, so cool. Potting back up to questions. All right.
Starting point is 00:19:05 If this Dracula is so smart and sophisticated as we've been led to believe, why on earth would he send Frankenstein to do this bidding? Frankenstein is clearly dumb as a bag of dirt. You know what I mean? Oh man. Oh man. Yeah. Love him. What are the werewolf rules in this movie? Because they make a big deal out of the rules, the rules of monsters. Full moon and all that. Yeah, but he's a werel for like 3-day straight.
Starting point is 00:19:30 That's sort of the thing in all werewolf movies. Like that initial scene was like, oh god, no, the moon. And then for the rest of the movie, they're a were were woeol-the woo. That. That. That. That. That. That. That. That. That's. That's. That's. That's. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I. I. Yeah. I. I. Yeah. I. I. I. Yeah. I. I. Yeah. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. the. the. the. the. the. th. th. th. that. that. that. that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that's that that that that's th. th. th. th. Why does the school have a bullet mold? What is it of a smelting class? I mean I like, I like the idea of like using a shop class to be able to make anything. They have a bullet mold. Yeah, why wouldn't it? theymeater. Just make go ahead and make these. I don't know. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:20:01 Because the best montage song of all time is playing while it's happening? Yeah. That's the best, it's a great montage. My favorite part, I can I tell you, my favorite part of that montage is? Sure. Hold on, I'm just gonna part of the montage? My favorite part is when it's coming out of the montage, and Rudy does his second spittake
Starting point is 00:20:33 in 10 minutes? Yeah, great. And just as the line, party till you die. It's playing? It's just absurd and wonderful. How upsetting is the thing about dancing until your feet fall off? I think I mentioned this in a previous episode I don't know why we were talking about it but this used to be on my running mix until it like made me freak out once a long run where I was like my heart is stopping my brains
Starting point is 00:20:54 are falling out I can't fucking listen to this. Yeah. As long as after it's prophecy it'scy with Christopher Walken. I saw that. And that lady who's in all the movies. Virginia Slims. Madsen. She's, she's not inappropriately dressed she was in that movie? She's the, yeah. She was ridiculous. Why does Copdad drive directly into those headlights for the car to go through him?
Starting point is 00:21:21 Why does he not swerve? I don't know, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, th, to go through him. Why does he not swerve? I don't know. Oh, God. Where does Dracula get dynamite? From the back of the car? What? You got it from the back of the car? That's where it was? I see. Why does Rudy have no qualms about stabbing people?
Starting point is 00:21:35 He just does not care. Do you think it's fantastic. Yeah. I mean, I mean thing either want to smooch him or be him. Like I think that's where you come down and maybe both. Smok cigarettes. Yeah, and he's a pervert. And is mean to mean to mean to me to me to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to too to too too too to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to too. Yeah too. Yeah too. Yeah to too. Yeah to to to to to to to to too. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. hea. he. he. he. thvey. Fucking EJ. Yeah, worse kid. I want to pop back down real quick and talk about EJ if I can. Yeah, I think I'm done with questions. Oh, okay. So this is really early on we meet Horace. And Horace is also affectionately known as Fat Kid.
Starting point is 00:22:16 Yeah. There's a few problematic things that we should talk about at some part during this. Calling a five-year-old girl a bitch. Not great. Not great, guys. The repeated use of faggot over and over. Oh, it's 1987. What do you do? It's a bummer. Horace has an altercation with EJ, who is picking on Horace because he's fat, steps on his Snickers bar, tries to make him eat it.
Starting point is 00:22:38 That made me really sad. Oh yeah. It hit a taphaphaphaphaphaph. Deep in my heart. Yeah, it hit home a lot because when this movie came out, I was 13, so I'm just about the age of these kids. Yeah. I got like a bullied a fair amount. I was the fat kid in school. So like Horace was just like, that's my motherfucking jam right there.
Starting point is 00:22:54 So I just want to, if I could, slip back into this for a second, kids. If you're getting bullied right now, just know in your heart that later on you'll be able to go on Facebook and look at where those bullies are now. Oh my god, yeah. And they can go fuck themselves because they already did. They're fucked. They're fucked. Yeah. So, take it from a 42-year-old, it gets better.
Starting point is 00:23:18 You know what's nice about that is I was a very ugly child like I said yeah, I had to grow into this nose I find it hard to believe I will show you vote I was fucked like really I look like I looked mangled It's true. I mean I and I just grew into my nose I figured out my hair it's got to live with it These eyebrows it was a lot of work. You grew into it beautifully. Thank you. I feel okay. I feel like I'm a solid Pittsburgh eight which is like an everywhere else six and th. It. It. It. It. th. th. th. th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I was th. I was th. I was th. I was th. I was th you grew into it beautifully. Thank you. I feel okay. I feel like I'm a solid Pittsburgh 8, which is like an everywhere else six and that's fine with me. I disagree but go on. I had so many other things to say. What's really great is going on Facebook and seeing how ugly the people who made fun of you are now.
Starting point is 00:23:58 Because they were only hot then. Yeah, we we we we we we get we we get we we get we get we we get we. We we get we. We we get th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to th. th. to th. th. th. th. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I th. I th. I th. I th. Yeah, we get to grow into this and be amazing as like. I'm only going to get better until probably about 35 and then I expect to go downhill. I grew into an awesome gray beard. Yeah, that's a good beard. It's a good beard. Yeah, so fuck it man. It gets better. Fuck thus. the people who pick on you. I'm so sorry you're going to go.to it and go, oh, you're right, you're right,
Starting point is 00:24:25 it did. So it's really just, this is just validation for us. This is just me trying to make myself feel better. Yeah. I'm the kid. I'm the kid, I'm dogging to. This is a weird episode we're doing here. We're having to tempor these things. This is a high-hi for us, but also a little bit of a low-low.
Starting point is 00:24:45 So we have to temper these things, you know, you can't let the eggs scramble. So Rudy shows up on his bike, slides in sideways, lights a cigarette off his fucking panny loafer. Oh my god, yeah. Why is he dressed like a gracer? It's so great. Why is he wearing fingerless gloves at that point in time. Weird. Yeah, then Molly Crew was at the fucking top of the pops. All right, that's true.
Starting point is 00:25:07 That's true. That's true. Top of the pops, indeed. I like how they're drawing those monster pictures. Yeah, spider with human head. the cat-headed teacher that they're making fun of looks awesome. Yeah, right.
Starting point is 00:25:28 She's great. I would totally rock that look if I were a lady. Like, which is another thing. It's a lot of work. I feel a lot of work to get it so smooth. Yeah, so I'm just gonna, uh, hey, teachers who look like you have cat's the, taped, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, the, to, the, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, tot, the, tot, tot, tot, tot, thea, thea, thea, thea, tote. thea, thea, too, tote. too, better. You're doing great. You know you're doing great. Kids are the worst. Remember how we were just talking to the kids? Now we're talking about them.
Starting point is 00:25:49 You're the worst. The worst. This movie also features a very sad moment with scary German guy and the Nazi tattoo. Why did they have to do that? I I I I I I I I I they they they have they have they have they have they have thu. I they have their their their their their their their their their their their their they have they have their they have they have they have they have they have their they have their they have they have their they have their their their their they are just. they are just. they are just. they are just. they are just. they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are. they are. they are. they are. they are. they. they. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. today. today. today. today. today. today. today. today. today. the the thea. they're. they're. I love about this movie is that there's so much emotion in this movie. Like in a really, like Missy A was making fun of me because I, like the entire time watching and I'm just smiling. Oh, I was gonna, I thought you were gonna be sobbing. No, no, I'm just like ear like just grinning
Starting point is 00:26:17 watching this movie, because it makes me so happy. And there the parts the parts the parts the parts the parts the parts the parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts parts that I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I'm, I, I'm that I'm that, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, Sean and his dad are on the roof watching the horror movie makes me tear up every fucking time like yeah god damn it to have that relationship is so wonderful like there's so like there's that sort of like aspirational beauty to it yeah yeah and then the scary German guy right they're like you sure do a lot about monsters yeah I guess I do and then they show the scary German guy. They're like you sure do know a lot about monsters. Yeah. I guess I do. And then they show the tattoo? Like it's just it's so out of the blue from this funny scene of them eating pie and like be like falling in
Starting point is 00:26:53 love with scary German guy. Yeah. And then all of a sudden it's like oh he was in a fucking concentration camp like my god you can't. you can't just do this to me. like like this th, my th th th the th. Like my the the the they they they they they they they. they. they. they. they. they. they. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. they. they. they. th. th. their their their their their their their their their their their their their. It's their. It's their. It's their. It's their. It's their. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. they. they. they. they. they. they. th. It's. It's. It's. It's just. It's just. It's just. It's just. It's just. And, t. And, t. And, t. And, t. And, t. And, t. And, t. And, t. And, th. th. And, the th. And, the this to me. Like I have PMS already and like I can't. And then at the end, when Phoebe throws scraps to Frankenstein. Yeah. So let's talk about Phoebe and Frankenstein's relationship. So it's the redemption of Frankenstein. Yeah. Because in the original Frankenstein, he throws a little girl into the lake.
Starting point is 00:27:20 She falls. She slips. Sure. Night. So they show you, but like set up that scene where Frankenstein approaches her, she's sitting by this lake or this pond. Sure, there's a pond there. Right, right, right. The swamp. Instead of killing her, he becomes her bestie. Yeah, it's adorable. And like, they hold hands the whole time. And she teaches him how to say bogus. Bogo. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. their. their, th. th. their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their. their. their, th. S. S. S. S. S. th. th. S's pretty good. I know. God damn, it is so heartwarming, like. I wanted them to like befriend all of the monsters. Yeah, what if they were just keeping Gilman in that lake?
Starting point is 00:27:53 A little thanks, guys. Yeah, feeding him Twinkies. Oh, Eugene. I love Eugene is. I never noticed as before, but in the scene where they're in the house on Shadow Brooklyn. Yeah, six, six, six, sacks, shadow Brooklyn. Sure. You know, they're all like screaming because they're on all sides. The monsters are on all sides of them. If you look at Eugene, he's just going like this. He's doing the home alone. But he's just like, he's not, worst screamer. Eugene and his dad and the closet.
Starting point is 00:28:25 His dad's amazing. Yeah, I was like... Also, why is his dad such a guido? Eugene has red hair. I always thought his dad should be Gilbert Godfrey. Yeah, he does seem like it. He does. But fucking, he's like, the ta.
Starting point is 00:28:35 too, all right. That's so sweet, like, that he would do that. And then he opens the closet but doesn't look inside, and fucking mummies in there. Just reek his hand out? Oh, yeah. And then he moves the fastest he moves the entire movie to get out the window. Yeah. Yeah, otherwise he's pretty much dragging. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:55 I mean, in terrifying, you know why? Go. Because they're real. They're a real thing. No, I'm telling. I mean, both men aren't real. Dracula's probably not real. Gilman, yeah, it might be, but they're really deep in the ocean. You know what I mean? Yeah. Mummies are fucking real. I saw them. I see them. They're a real thing. Sure. I don't understand what you don't understand about this. Because to their real to an extent, they stop being the real, they stop being mummy mummies. They are real, 100% real. No, I don't, this is not, I'm really not understanding. Because they're not picking up and move around. Then you should be terrified of skeletons too, because they're inside of us. They're literally inside of us.
Starting point is 00:29:47 Yeah, I'm in a room with two of them. And you don't think that's scary. You don't think this is the thing I worry about? You ever seen your own skeleton? No, I am not. Cool. Have you? I broke my the but it poked up all jagged through my skin. Like not through it but I can see it and touch it. So gross. Yeah it was super gross. I think then I went
Starting point is 00:30:07 into shock. Yeah. Is shot a sociopath? He might be. He's really mean to everybody. And then when Frankenstein dies, he's like while he died saving us, bye. Like does not care, no remorse, no feeling. His treatment of Phoebe. Well, that's pretty realistic. Yeah, yeah, yeah, oh for sure. Like a lot of like the kids' interactions and all of that jazz is very realistic in this movie. Yeah. Even for like, you know, the dialogue is pretty spot on for 1986 or 87, like, don't be chicken shit. That's the best line in the movie though. Man, I love, I'm like, when I was a kid I was definitely team Rudy all the way
Starting point is 00:30:49 and I feel like now as an old man I'm fucking team Phoebe all the way. Oh yeah, she's the best. If I had a child I would legit name her Phoebe. And then I call her Phoeby the fee and ruin her life. No girls allowed. Parents. Don't belittle your children. My God. Please don't. No. It's not so going to do that, though.
Starting point is 00:31:10 Can we talk about the murder of the only person of color in this movie? Sure, who's amazing. He's great. Amazing. And like, they're like not at all concerned about it. His partner, it doesn't do it like it's good. Eh, all right. Yeah, well, move on. I guess, well, I guess we're all safe. Like, that's literally how they end it. I found that to be very disappointing.
Starting point is 00:31:29 He's got some of the best, like, comedic dialogue in the movie. He's very funny. Just keep saying I'm a great cop. Like, just keeps the thuuuiting. But, but he. But he. But he. But he. But he. But he. But he. But he th. But he that. But he that. But he that. But he that. But he that's. But he gets that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's th. that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that. that. that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's. that's that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's to to to to to to to to to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be the car? He's just pulling on the door handle like a child. You're in the cop car, you're a cop. I don't know. Yeah, it's a bummer. I'd like to take a moment to talk about Mary Ellen Traynor, who passed away last year. God rest her son.
Starting point is 00:32:00 And she's in a really hard place in this relationship and like that comes across. She's like for a limited amount of screen time she really gets that across while she's in the film. Yeah, here's a question. Why did she let Phoebe get in the car with scary German guy late at night? That's a five-year-old. Why is she not watching her five-year-old? He survived the Holocaust. I understand that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. th. that. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. tho. thoom. thoom. thi. thi. thoom. thoom. thoom. thoom. thoom. thoom. thoom. thoom. thoom. thoom. thoom. thoom. thoom. thoom. thoom. tho. tho. tho. thi. thi. thi. tha. tha. tha. I understand that, but I just don't see that happening. Like, put yourself in her shoes,
Starting point is 00:32:29 and this guy comes over to your house, and he's like, I gotta take Phoebe. You'd be like, boop, boop, the thooop, 911. What are you doing? You know? Yeah, you're right. This ms. This is not a lick of sense. But it's beautiful in its, like I said before, it's just joy. Like here's another thing that doesn't make any sense. They're like, we gotta go somewhere where there are a lot of people.
Starting point is 00:32:51 Church. Oh, there's always people at church. They go, oh, there's a church in the town square. It's, there's nobody there. They just left that burger place, which was full th full full full full full full full full full full full full full full full full full full full full full full full full full full full full full full full full that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that there? Well, religion is on the way in America. Yeah. And burgers probably on the rise, so. Yeah. You know like those roller skating burger places that they had in the 80s. I've espoused my theory. I think I did it during the Fright Night episode that this town is the same town that Fright Night and the Burbs takes place Yeah, I think it seems legit. I want that to be true. Are there swamps in those movies? Could be. Yeah, sure. Yeah, it didn't go to them. Yeah, it might be.
Starting point is 00:33:28 Yeah, it's a fright night. There's just that weird downtown scene that like they're walking to from their totally suburban homes. And then they walk in and out, don't they. No, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, they, they, yeah, they, they, yeah, they, they, they, they, yeah, they, they, yeah, yeah, they, they, yeah, yeah, they, yeah, they they they they they, yeah, they, they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they, they, they, they, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, they, they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they're they're they like to live there. Crips in Rand there. They do have a Burger King. I wish we had a Burger King. In Monster Squad, yeah, yeah. A lot of product placement for Burger King. Yeah. A lot of burger king. Do you?
Starting point is 00:33:56 Oh my god, yeah. And then eating in a Burger King. They have a veggie. Oh, theyn't. that. Oh I have eaten them on the turnbike. Yeah that's the only time I like will sometimes think about getting on the turnpike just so I can go to Burger King. They're just not in the Pittsburgh area. There's one in Southside but it's super gross. Yeah guys hot tip. Wopper Junior way better than the Wopper. It's just a better ratio. Get two upper juniors. It's cheaper. It's than. It's than. We're full of advice today. And you know what, 100 episodes in, we should be. We should be. We should be. Let's talk about Dracula's cane. You had questions about his automobile with a skull, water ornament and where all the dynamite came from. Yeah. The fact
Starting point is 00:34:34 that his cane that's perfectly set up to attract lightning and rev up Frankenstein? Yeah. Is that how he shoots scary German guy later to her? Because he like laser beams in the the light the light the light light light light light light light light light light light light light light light light light light light light light light light light light light light light light light light light light light light, the the the the the the they. they. they. the they. th. th. th. th. th. to, th. to, th. to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to to to to to to to to to be, to be, to be, to be. We, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. toge. te. te. te. te. to, to, to, to.? Does he do that with his hand? Because he like laser beams him at the end when he's doing the Yish-Vish-Nush part? Yeah. He just fucking roups him. He does it with the amulet. No, he's holding the, the scary German guy's holding the emulet. I thought the Dracula had. Because then he picks up Phoebe. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:05 I gotta go watch the movie. I'll be right back. Bye. Do you know that Aloucard is Dracula spelled backwards? Yeah, remember we got into that argument about Alucarta? Which you can go back by listening to episode, whatever. Nine? Why did you pick without warning? I gotta ask you, 98 episodes later. Uh, because it sounded so fucking ridiculous.
Starting point is 00:35:31 And I like the flying egg like things that were being thrown around. I knew we could have fun with it, and we did. No wonder we got up to such a slow start. Those episodes are still not downloaded. No, I know. Warlock did okay. Without warning, not so much. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I th. I th. I th. I th. th. to. to. to. to. to. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to ask to ask to ask to ask to ask to ask to ask to ask to ask to ask to ask to ask to ask to ask to ask to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to toe. I think next I pick stitches, maybe.
Starting point is 00:35:48 You shouldn't let me do that. You were like, you pick and I was like, what's stupid? Yeah, I think that's how we're approaching it at the beginning, like what's gonna be dumb and funny to talk about? Well, now we're like, that the thii. Do you guys like us? They do like us. Really? Yeah, we have fans. We have fan art. I know.
Starting point is 00:36:09 You guys are so fun. I think then we did Nightmare on Elm Street because we were like, God, we got to get people to listen to us. Let's get into something not so funny. Why would we do that? This is our comedy podcast. Why? . how you shouldn't be a Rudy. Why? He's so... Don't take nude photographs with the neighbor.
Starting point is 00:36:26 Well, don't take your shirt off in front of the window. Oh, come on. She's on the second floor of her house facing a swamp. You don't know she's facing the swamp. I'm sorry, if your little brother has a clubhouse, yeah. And is right outside your bedroom window and you know they're up there all the time, stop showing him your tits. She did seem dumb as a stump. Dumb as a stump. Although I do like the line of the end where she's like, well Steve but he doesn't count. Yeah. It's just so like I know exactly what you mean. I know what you mean I know, I'm. I know, the ta. they's thinne pictures and they's like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like. the the their their their th. their they. th. th. they. th. th. they. th. they. the the the th. the the the th. the the th. the th. the the thi. the the the the the the the the the the line. the line. the line. the line. the line. the line. the line. the line. the line. the line. the line. the line. the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. th. the th. th. th. them with them later. Just as a, I mean, I realize it was the 80s and that's what everybody was doing, like, go taking nude pictures and bull.
Starting point is 00:37:06 That's what they're doing now, I haven't you heard of cyber boy? I know, I know, I know. But like when I, like, revisiting things like revenge of the nerds and you're just like, they want to make America gross again. Yeah. Don't be a gross Rudy. No. I mean, you can be a regular cool Rudy. Yeah, smoke your cigarettes.
Starting point is 00:37:30 Smoke your cigarettes. No, actually, that was one of our advices in the Corralline episode was don't. No, it wasn't because we had a debate about it. It's a great way to meet people. Can we talk about how the dad is a poor man's Dustin Hoffman? Oh, you think? Oh, yeah. He's like a, he's like a destitute man's Dustin Hoffman. This is way down there. But yeah, for sure.
Starting point is 00:37:55 Yeah, there's that vibe. No that you pointed out. the son I love you put your basic lid on it. So tough. But it's such a dad thing to say. Is it? I don't know. It's such a dad thing. He's also like kind of a dick though like he gets a call about the where he's leaving. Yeah, he's like literally not going to say goodbye to his wife who's setting
Starting point is 00:38:17 the table. He wasn't even going to to his wife, who he's actually married to. It sucks. Yeah, I guess so. Yeah. I'm like super married to my job too, so I understand. Oh yeah. No. No. My job and I, it's complicated. Yeah. Yeah. Let's talk about the Wolfman. Okay. So the Wolfman gets one of the best lines from the movie, but he doesn't actually get to deliver it. He just gets kicked in the dards.
Starting point is 00:38:52 How many times have you heard that line referenced in your life? The Wolfman's got ours. Which is so weird that all like the, like, because it didn't do well, like it just kind of went into like a weird limbo. Because I know like night of the creeps. Like a limbo that you throw a thing and then it fshshhush. Why was Van Helsing in the limbo? Because he got sucked in the limbo in limbo in Maybe he'd been paying attention to popular culture this entire time.
Starting point is 00:39:27 Limbo's rough. A hundred years ago. Yeah. So he gets kicked in the nards. Wolfman's got nards. Wolfman's got nards. I feel like you have to say it like that. And he's the saddest character in the movie.
Starting point is 00:39:39 Yeah, his death is particularly sad. But also great because he gets released, full release. Yeah, but saying thank you to someone, mm-mm. Sorry. Saying thank you to someone for killing you is fucking rough. Yeah. Yeah, like him and Frankenstein. That's one of those moments where you're like, Jesus Christ. Yeah. I can't remember who was on our Instagram that said he just showed this movie to his kids. And I was like, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I th. Yeah, I thi, I thi, yeah, I thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. Yeah, thi, thi, thi, than, than, saying, saying, saying, saying, saying, saying, saying, saying, saying, saying, saying, saying, saying, saying, saying, saying, saying, saying, saying, saying, saying, saying, saying, saying, th. Yeah, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's than, saying than, saying than, saying than, saying than, saying to his kids and I was like, oh that's cool. God, there's some fucking brutal things in here for kids.
Starting point is 00:40:05 Like, being grateful for the release of death. Yeah, that's so heavy way. Old man and the wolf man. Old man and the wolf man. I guess Wolfman in the sea would have worked out better. You can take another take of that if you want. that. that. that. that. that. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. to thi. to to to thi. thi. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the. theat theat theat. theat. theat theat. tea. toeat. toe. toe. to, I'm the wolf man. At least you didn't go for the obvious. Which one's that? Wolf man in the city.
Starting point is 00:40:29 Oh, okay. Yeah, my brain doesn't work with the obvious. The wolf also rises. I don't know, it's not great. Oh, I was going to say I'd like to talk about Horace now. Again, revisiting Horace. Are you mad? that. that. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thin. thin. thin. thin. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Like, do you not think that they carry snacks? I mean, I have snacks on my person at all time. Not that weird to me.
Starting point is 00:40:54 I guess it's not that weird to me, but I don't know. But the reason I wanted to talk I was convinced he was chunk from the Goonies also. He's not. Yeah, he's not. No. He's not. No. His name is Brent Chelum. And he played, he was Horace and he died of pneumonia at age 22. Jesus Christ. Do you have AIDS or something? I don't know. It doesn't say. I mean most 22 year olds can't die of pneumonia. Right. thr. tw. I. I. I. tw. tw. tw. tw. tw. tw. tw. tw. tw. tw. tw. tw. tw. tw. the tw. the tw. the tw. tw. the the tw. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. te. te. te. te. te. te. tr. tru. tru. tru. to. th. th. th. th. th. th.'s a bummer because he is fucking great in this movie. Like so cute, like all the kids are so charismatic. Like, they're so wonderful and ridiculous and yeah, they're great. They do exactly what they need to do to be in this movie. I've often debated getting a Horace tattoo. What would you describe as to me?
Starting point is 00:41:41 In your mind's eye, what do you see? It's Horace holding the shotgun, and it just says, my name is Horace. Oh, you'd have the line. Oh, yeah, my name is Horace. Because my name is also Horace. It's not, thrown, but I get the vibe. I get what he's throwing down. It's sort of like a jay, tho, the, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, the, t, t, t, th, th. tho, th, thor, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thorou, the, th, th, and, th, th, th, th, th, th. th. the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th.. th. th. tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, to. to. to. to. to. to. too. too. too. to. to. toda. to. to. to. to. one's name is Fat Kid. But if I walked around... I don't think the county would let you do that. If I walked around with the name, with the tattoo, that said, my name is Alan, it'd be a little, tau. It'd be a little weird.
Starting point is 00:42:09 I think you should get a tattoo of you holding the shotgun and say my name is Alan. I kind of like that, I mean, thu, to to to to to to to to to to to thu, thu, thu, I thu, I thu, I thi, I that, I that, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I tho, I tho, I tho, I tho, I tho, I tho-I tho-I tho-I tho-I, I tho-I, I tho, I thu, I thu, I thu, I thu, I thu, I thu, I thi. Oh God. All right, I mean, what else we miss him? What else we need to get into here? I mean, we're missing a lot of things, but it's kind of like, I don't know, what do you even say? Oh, that though? You know what I mean? One thing I like is that, so Tom Noonan and the guy who played Dracula. Can you ever say the name Nune without wanting to go, No, of course not? Because I love Caddyshack so much.
Starting point is 00:42:54 Because I'm your dad. I really want to do another movie that Tom Noonan is in called House of the Devil. It's done by the director, the director director director director director director director director director director director director director director director director director director director director director director director director director director director director director director director director director director director director director director. to to to to the director. to the director. to the director director director director director director director director director director director director director director. to to to to to to to to to to the director. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the to the to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the tie. the tie. tie. the tie. the tie. tie. too. too. to to to to to to to to to the the to the the the director, director, Ty West. Oh yeah, yeah, oh yeah, I saw that. I didn't realize Tom Nino was in it. Yeah, he's the old guy. Oh, Ty West is from your area. I think. Yeah, I think he's from Delaware. Yeah. Or Westchester, P.
Starting point is 00:43:13 Both of the things, I think. they- Which is really fun. And like, it's not at all gross. It's just like Tom Noonan talking to another dude about human, how human beings are made out of meat. How are all just meat bags? Yeah, it's really funny. But, oh, so Tom Noonan and the guy who played Dracula, they interacted with the kids in makeup and they didn't, like, they weren't kind to them. Oh, for like until Tom Noon and Pho Phoebe started being friends and then he was kind to her. So before that on the set he wasn't, but Dracula was never nice to them. And so it's kind of messed up.
Starting point is 00:43:53 Yeah, it's really, yeah, you don't need to get methed with children. No, yeah, they're just, they're literal babies. So the thing where he picks Phoeby up by the chin and the chin the chin the chin and the chin and the chin and the chin and the chin and th. the chin th. the chin. thine thine thine thine thine thine thine thine thine thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It was was was th. It was th. It was th. It was thi. It was thi. It was thi. It was thi. It was thi. It was thi. It was thi. It was the. It's is the. It's is the. It's the. It's the. It's the. It's thee. It's theea. It's thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. to her. He had not shown, she had not seen him up until that point with the fangs and the red lenses in. So her reaction is her actually. She's literally a baby. She's literally a baby. Yeah. And a great actress, a great actress. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:44:17 Yeah, she's great. But I just like that was her honest, like it's so like William Freakin and the actresses like I just need this to be real and like, you're in a monster movie. Yeah, like the stomach bursting scene an alien. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I almost revisited what happened there. We have an entire episode where we're talking about it. I look at this movie is giving us so many leways into old episodes. That was really smart of you to pick this one. I'm being sincere.
Starting point is 00:44:46 Okay, so let's talk about the song that's on the soundtrack wherewolf ambulance ambulance. Isn't that a song on the soundtrack? Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's where we got our name from. Yeah, yeah, I understand that. Even though it's in a werewolf of a corner van. Also, there's no song in that scene, is there? There's music, yeah, yeah. Isn't he just listening to headphones? No, there's like little like orchestral music in like, in the background.
Starting point is 00:45:08 Yeah. I was watching this movie, I still missed it. Also, are we gonna achieve the name to Where O'Connor fan? Because it doesn't have the same ringtune. No, I think Werelfail, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like doing the podcast was it before you knew that if we were named after a answer... It happened live. I don't know which episode it's in but it happens live. That's so funny. Why would I know? I thought I had to told you. Will we be like... Yeah, Alan. I don't even remember some of these movies. It's super bad. I gotta like get some memory enhancers. You can go below start doing a crossword every day? Yeah, supposedly. I'll I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I th. I th. I th. I th. Yeah, supposedly. I'll try it. I'm willing to try anything. Just at the beginning, I was like trying to figure out what we should call this nonsense.
Starting point is 00:45:48 You were like, how about where all of the ambulance? And I was like, fine. Sounds like, I had all these like more serious names that I came out that it was like what about where wolf ambulance and we were both like yeah I honestly don't remember being given any other options. Yeah I sent you a list really? I have it somewhere on a sheet of paper that I'd. I'll look for it but I don't remember receiving that. That was also like two years ago so it's like it's like it never happened yeah as my brain resets every 18 months. to th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to to th. to th. th. th. to th. th. to to to to to to to to to be to be th. Starting point is 00:46:54 I will take this movie for what it is, fault and all. I love you, Monster Squad. my own life. Is that what we're doing here kind of a little bit? I actually, when I was getting maudlin earlier, I was thinking that like, you know, what we're doing is like creating our own little monster squad of like people who listen to us and you and I and people who are guests and, uh, but like, there's no, you don't have to pass a monster test. I was just thinking we should be giving them a test. Just coming in and and and and and and and and in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in in their their their their their their, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their. Yeah, he's like, uh, for just 30 bucks month, I can keep these people off my back. For less than the cost of a parcel of terror, I'm able to keep these people. I know.
Starting point is 00:48:32 I think he imagines us just sitting there flies buzzing around us, and we're like, we're hungry. He's like, God, here, go to Arby's. is amazing. It's a monthly subscription box that you can sign up for and when you get it you will understand but it's full of amazing handmade stuff by Jason he sculpts it, he cast it, he paints it, he paints it in the back, he puts those little hangars on the back. Yeah, little magnets. And then he puts it in bags, puts it in a box, put some fucking crepe paper on that shit and sends it to you. Usually with candy. Even if not with candy. the candy. stuff. You could probably chew on some of it. I wouldn't. I wouldn't if it's not candy. He has thirty five dollars. Oh yeah, his guest artists. He's got stories. He's got drawings. He's got magnets.
