Werewolf Ambulance: A Horror Movie Comedy Podcast - Episode 101- 28 Days Later (2002)

Episode Date: September 26, 2016

You know EMTs, lately it just seemed like we were having a little too much fun. We decided to bring it down a notch with the mega-depressing post-apocalyptic/zombie (??) film from 2002, "28 Days Later...." That doesn't mean we can't still make jokes though! Special topics for your consideration include: what we might need to be prepared to do, the science of air raid sirens, lovely lovely Cillian Murphy, what your car window decals might say about you and/or your cat family and the possibility that we might need an apocalypse backup plan. What are your thoughts on this movie? Tell us in the comments at facebook.com/werewolfambulance, on Twitter @werebulance or on Instagram @werewolfambulance. You can also email us at werewolfambulance@gmail.com. Please also give our sponsor some love! It's not too late to get the Treat box from Cryptocurium (www.cryptocurium.com) and then continue to get the Parcel of Terror all year long. You are absolutely not going to regret it. Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey Katie. Oh my god. What should I kill I might kill you? I might kill you just to be sure I mean what that's what you would want right no I don't want I don't want to die Welcome to another No, all right that's in you're dead episode of wearable fabulence episode 101. I'm Katie. We're gonna talk about a movie. Yeah, we are. 28 days later. O, boy. Riding high from Monster Squad. I decided to kick us in the proverbial nuts and our nards. We've done so many fun movies recently. Like, it, and even the conjuring was kind of fun,
Starting point is 00:00:56 and the rings has some fun to it. What? No? When that horse gets torn off. Yeah, that's what I'm talking about. Yeah, but you know that my wheelhouse, my home away from home, is in the sad hole. So like this... This is basically last man on earth, but with slightly worse production value. Just kidding.
Starting point is 00:01:20 And no, that is something I want to talk about, but it's also basically every zombie you've ever seen, smashed into one thing, and an allegory at the beginning for 9-11. There's a lot going on. Tell me about that. Well, there's like a lot of like nods to post 9-11, like the board with all the pictures and like notes to love ones on it. Yeah, was a big thing that was, I remember really being heartbreaking after 9-11. Yeah, for sure. Because this is before, I think it's before the bus and train attacks in London happened. Yeah, November 2002 is when this was released, so it was certainly made before that.
Starting point is 00:01:57 So they were sort of like tapping into that. I don't like just that whole, like a city being like, like, remember after 9-11 when like lower Manhattan was shut down? Yeah. And you'd see like nobody on the streets in lower Manhattan and stuff. And that's with this kind of like, I mean it's also like it's a nod to day of the dead and all this stuff. But like coming out in 2002, like it definitely like for me it, not fun. No, no, no. Nothing about this movie's fun. No. Literally nothing, except maybe Sillian Murphy's Weewee. That's kind of fun. And his beautiful, beautiful bone structure. He's so thin. Yeah. I think he's just so thin. Well, and now in Piki blinders, he's pretty buff. He's like, he's like Iggy pop buff. He's just like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, like, he's like, like, like, like, like, like, buff, he's just like leather overtought rope. I disagree. I find him super hunky.
Starting point is 00:02:46 You know I made it my goal to objectify men in this podcast? I just don't feel like there's enough of that out there. Sure. I don't know if I'm being serious or sarcastic if I'm being honest. We deserve it. That's fine. I find him so hunky blinders. He's just a little scrawny for my... Okay. Ah, Selena though. God damn she's beautiful. Yeah, lovely.
Starting point is 00:03:06 Yeah, lovely. The synopsis of this film is basically some animal rights activists. With a bunch of fucking dummies. I'm sorry. No, no. Fundoms. Yeah, yeah. Not knowing what, I mean, I am totally for animal liberation but know what you're doing before you liberate said animal. It would be like walking into a supermarket and be like, these lobsters need to go free, dump the tank.
Starting point is 00:03:26 You know who did that? Who did that? Edward Furlong. Yeah, well he reached in with his hands and took them out. And then we're just like, go, go, go. He was high on the drug, Jesus. Yeah. No, I am not for animal liberation when it comes to disease. Sure, they didn't know what they were doing. They were just like they were thinking with their hearts and not with their heads.
Starting point is 00:03:49 I just want you all to know that Alan and I've been arguing about animal testing for the last 10 minutes and we've cut the whole thing. So these guys are wing nuts. They go in there and they unleash they unleash they unleash they unleash they unleash they unleash they unleash they unleash they unleash and they unleash they unleash and they unleash unleash unleash unleash they unleash unleash unleash unleash unleash they unleash unleash unleash unleash they unleash and they unleash unleash unleash unleash unleash unleash unleash unleash unleash they unleash and they unleash unleash and they unleash unleash unleash they unleash unleash they unleash they unleash they unleash they unleash they unleash the they unleash the the rage the rage the rage the rage the rage the rage the rage the rage the rage they unleash they unleash they unleash they unleash they unleash they unleash they unleash they unleash they they they they they unleash they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they unleash they unleash they unleash they unleash they unleash they unleash their their their their their, oh it's called the flupidy-dupity disease. Rage. Okay. And there's a great scene where the woman gets infected and she turns around red eyes and just spits blood in a dude's face. I'm like, the dude with the ponytail. I'm glad it was a dude with the pony. Yeah, and this, I mean it's just like, this movie was like, thii. thi, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. of like everything that's wrong with humanity. Yeah. I did a smoking study like that one. Speaking of testing. Yeah, it was like they tested to see if you smoked more cigarettes while they showed you pictures of corpses. Wow. I think so. I never read the results but probably. I'm against Katie testing on Katie's. You know what? I just got a pack of Marlboros and sat in her room for a while.
Starting point is 00:04:45 It was fine. It was really fine. Also, don't smoke. Or smoke, or smoke. It's fine. Kids. Um, so I, yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:56 And then we cut to 28 days later, as the text on the screen tells us. Yeah. And we, um, we meet naked-ass, silly, and Murphy. Yeah. Jim. Jim. He's been in a coma. I guess he got hit by a car while bike messengering. Mm-hmm. I don't know why he hasn't been infected. They locked the door and put a bunch of shit in front of his door and then threw the key under the door. Oh, I missed that. Yeah. Okay. So someone had like taken care that he was safe. Why just him do you think? I don't know. It might have been his parents that did it, as we will be revealed later. I feel like they would have locked themselves in there too, because they just went home and got in bed in their underpants.
Starting point is 00:05:33 And then died. then died. Oh, by the way, we'll suppose we'll be, oh God, this movie's so fucking depressing. It's really crushing. I have a God's Speedy Black Emperor tattoo and the first big song in this movie is a God's Speedy Black Emperor song and I was just like in the theater, or no, I watched it on DVD first and I was just like, what is going on? Yeah. My worlds are colliding. Yeah. We watched it. Oh, that's right. Because I was, at the time that this came out, seeing a young man who stopped seeing me, but he really was into this movie, so I couldn't see it, you know.
Starting point is 00:06:09 Gotcha. But you did give me Battle Royale, which is an excellent. We should do that movie at some point. Oh, for sure. Sure, all right. Yeah. I was a fuck that dude. Nobody breaks up with me and gets all way with it. It's like floating in a river somewhere now.
Starting point is 00:06:28 Shhh. JK. Or am I? I should definitely cut that in case anything happen. No, yeah, we're friends on Facebook. He's fine. So yeah, he gets up, he kind of like does the, you're in a post-tobacco movie there's nobody left around, yelling hello at everybody. Oh yeah, for about 10 minutes, that's the only line. Yeah, which is actually a direct nod to Day of the Dead, the to the Dead, the to start out.
Starting point is 00:06:52 Sure. Not to mansplain, theymea. Oh, sorry. That's what this whole podcast is, is us telling people about movies, though. We're not going to do it now. We're just going to sit here in silence and talk about my ex-boyfriends that are dead. Just kidding, he's fine. Shit. London Empty is insane to me. It's beautiful.
Starting point is 00:07:14 I love all those shots of desolate, cool London. It's great. Yeah, apparently they could just shut down a section of London and do it and then like you've been to London right the amount of traffic that's in that city it's insane like you did pay money just to drive around in there what must have happened like waltz li like so much fury so many people just shouting he's wandering around London he wanders into a church where full of bodies my favorite graffiti in anything is in there. The end is extremely fucking nigh.
Starting point is 00:07:47 I like the way it pans up, too, so you see it from the bottom and then the top and you're like, oh god. So that place is full of bodies. Full of bodies. It does not seem to smell there are no flies. Heaves. He seems fine. stand up and you're just like, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, fuck, like, that, oh, oh, it gives me the heavies and the GVs. And they're fast zombies, which I like in this, yeah, I do like. Well, they're technically not zombies because they're still alive. Now are you manslaughting? I think so. Okay, okay, okay, yeah. Yeah, well, wait, when this movie came out there was a ton of controversy because they're not because that sounds controversial. Because nerds. Sure. So
Starting point is 00:08:28 they're not zombies are just infected people like that's why they can be fast because they still have like blood running through their veins and they're still like they're tree. Do they bleed zombies out? What do you mean? Well like they have blood in the heart wouldn't be pumping? You're a their. their. their. their. their. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they're they. they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're not. Do. Do. Do. Do they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're not. they're not. they're not. they're not. they're not. they're not. th. th. th. thee. th. they're not. they're not. they're not. they're not. they're not. they're not. they're. You're a zombie. You're what we're going to start done. How are you running or walking? Exactly. But how, but... No, they're all zombies. Eat a dick.
Starting point is 00:08:52 And you know, and when a shitty, shitty Zack Snyder made the watchman and a ton of movies you have not seen. He does like a, like, he does action movies that look like a video games, like 300 and... Oh, those are not for me. Yeah, no, no, no, no, no. No, no, no. I can't say in his movies, but I didn't grow up like watching like those kind or playing those kind of video games. I think that's, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, he thi, he thi, he's, he's, he's, he thi, he thi, he thi, he thi, he thi, he thi, he thi, he th. He, he th. He, he th. He, he th. He, he th. He, he th. He thi, he thi, he thi, he thi, he thi, he does, he does, he does, he does, he does, he does, he does, he does like, he does like, he does, he does, he does, he does, he does thi. He does, he does, he does thi. He does, he does, he does thi. He does, he does, because their brains are a little mushier than everybody else is, you know. I do, I do. You know what I mean? You gotta let it go. So, but he made the remake of Donna the Dead and those were fast zombies and it was basically, I mean, don't have that the remake even kind of starts off the same as this movie with like the television screens that are showing all the violence in the world and all that stuff. Fuck that. Well, make your own movie.
Starting point is 00:09:46 Yeah. Yeah. But so, like, this movie kick-started the fast zombies. Okay. And so a lot of people hate this movie because of that. But this is so much... It's a very dumb reason to hate a movie. Sure.
Starting point is 00:09:59 Especially if they're not zombies. You know what I mean? I do. I hate movie... I just did it again, didn't I? I hate movies for a lot less reasons than that, though. Sure. Yeah. I'll hate movie just if it has a Seth Rogan in it, so... I liked Knocked up. It was pretty funny. Yeah. I liked 50-50.
Starting point is 00:10:19 I don't even know what that is. It's not a Joseph Gordon Lovett. About Joseph Gordon Leavitt has the cancer and... Oh. It's not one of them happy movies, but I like JGL. Do you? You can see Snowden? I don't know. Ask me if I'm going to see Snowden? You need to see Snowden?
Starting point is 00:10:36 Nodin. Hmm. It's not great. So the priest. Yeah, he's so scary. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. tha. tha. th. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. thoooo. tho. thooooooo thoer. thoer. thoer. tho. tho. It's tho. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's th. It's. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not the. It's not the. It's not thea. It's not thea. It's not thooooooooooooooooooooooooo. It's not tha. It's not tha. It's not. It's not great. So the priest comes up and starts trying to attack him. Yeah, he's so scary that priest. I love when he calls him fodder. Fodder? Futter. Futter.
Starting point is 00:10:50 His accent's so great. Ugh, wood. Would. He's with a bag full of Pepsi cans. He's the bag full of Pepsi cans. Yeah, it's the scene. from this, that's a lot of sody. Like he would probably feel awful. He seems fine. Well, it does feel awful later. Sure.
Starting point is 00:11:08 There's the scene on the steps. Yeah, that's true. But like my thing is like, you just woke up from a coma. This guy could just be having a fit. You don't have any idea what's happening, but because he's like shilling to, but they, they, the, the, the yeah. So he takes off running because now there's a bunch of them chasing him. And this is when we meet Mark and Selina. And they're blowing everything up with Marlottoff cocktails and give me two firewalks.
Starting point is 00:11:34 It's actually a fire run, which I really like. When the one guy's on fire and jumps over the hood of a car and I and I was like, and I was like, and I was like, and I was like, and I was like, and I was like, and I was like, and I was like, and I was like, and I was like, and I was like, and I was like, and I was like, and I was like, and I was like, and I was like, and I was like, and I was like, and I was like, the the the the the the one, the one, the one the one the one th, and I th, and I th, and I th, and I th, and I th, and I th, and I th, and I th, and I th, and I th, and I th, and I th, and I th, and I th, and I th, and I th, th, th lunatic. Yeah, stuntman. Best stuntman. And they blow- The guy at Nobel, or a Grammy or whatever. Got a Noble's fine. Whatever you get for movies, I don't know, one of these things. Good thing I have this movie podcast. A world's greatest. Yeah, get this guy a statue. So they blow up an entire city block the thoom. tha. tha. tha. tha. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. thi. that. that. the th. the the th. the the th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. the. th. the. the. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. tho. the. the. the. the tho. the the the the the the the tho. G. No. the the the tho. No. No, this movie's budget was spent on that explosion? A lot, it looked rad though. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:12:07 So the movie's all shot on digital video. Yeah. And it was so that they could be moving fast. Okay. And it's, it takes me, every time I watch it, it takes me a while to adjust. Yeah, it looks crummy. Yeah, but then, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the scene, the scene, the scene, the scene, the scene, the scene, the scene. the scene. the scene. the scene. the the scene. the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thrown. th. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the movie. th. the movie. the movie. the movie. the movie. th. the the th. the th. the the the the th. th. the th. th. the th. thr. the. the. thr. the. to. to. to. the to. the the the the the the. thr. the. the. the. the. th like, there's that scene in the beginning when he's walking in the parking garage and there's like that framed out trees sticking out of the parking garage structure that looks like so surreal. Yeah. And I was like, oh, this this kind of works for that kind of stuff.
Starting point is 00:12:34 Yeah. But for a lot of it, it seems just low budge. And they do stuff like,'s too much light bleeding so it's like kind of hard to see stuff and yeah and there's a lot of like weird reflection shots where like something is reflected at the bottom of the screen but the top is just whatever's happening and I didn't understand and I didn't understand and I didn't thrown, i'm. I didn't understand if that was just intentional or something that I today. I do what I mean I really don't know what I mean I do. I do. I do. I do. I do. I do. I do. I do. I do. I do. I do. I do. I do. I do. I do. I do. I do. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. It is directed th. It's th. It is like th. It is like th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th so something is like something is like something is like something is like something is directed is directed th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the is the director of like train spotting and slum dog millionaire and oh I never saw a slum dog millionaire but I think I would like it yeah I never saw neither we should see it and it's not for this podcast that we could watch it sometimes it's true it's true I do love trade spotting and this
Starting point is 00:13:13 was like a weird breakout hit in America like totally unexpected right 20 days later yeah yeah it was really silly andcklston it was like the thing that got him me knowing who he is. He is West he's the head of the the military. Yeah he played Dr. Who for the first season the Dr. Who came back. Should I watch Dr. Who? I like I like British people. You like Star Trek. I would say give like a Tom Baker run of Dr. Who a shot, which is like the 70s stuff. I don't know, actually just fucking watch David Tenet. Yes. Yeah. Give it a shot. I like David Tenet, don't I? Tell me if I like. He's the purple man and Jessica Jones. You probably didn't watch. I've tried. I tried. I tried. It just wasn't for me. I tried. Do. Do. Do. Do. Do. Do. Do. Do. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the 70. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the 70. the 70. the 70. the 70. the 70. the 70. the 70. the 70. the 70. the 70. the 70. the 70. the 70. the 70. the 70. the 70. the 70. the 70. the 70. the 70. the 70. the 70. the 70. the 70. the. the. the. the. the. try. try. try. try. try. try. try. try. try. try. th. the. the. the 70. the 70. the 70. the 70. the 70.. Dr. Who's like, do you like Sherlock? I love Sherlock. It's written by the same guy who did Sherlock. Okay. So you might like, well, the, the, the comeback, the David Ten at run of it, so.
Starting point is 00:14:10 So he meets Mark and Selina and they take him to their, yeah. Should I watch it before? Or should I keep saving the wire? You should actually just binge it all weekend. So we meet Mark and Selena. Mark starts off with a great joke. Remind me. A man and giraffe walk into a bar. And they both get pissed or drunk, as you would in America. Sure. And the guy starts stumbling out of the bar, and the bartender says,
Starting point is 00:14:35 Oy! You can't leave that line there. Yeah, it turns it's not a line. It's a giraffe. It's pretty good. It's a good-ass joke. It's pretty good joke. Not that funny in context for poor Jim, who's having a very bad day. Has no idea what's going on on earth currently. No. And then we get exposition.
Starting point is 00:14:56 Yeah. I have a question about this. Shoot. They tell Jim that it's made it to Paris and New York. First, how do they know that? And second, how did it get there? And then later we find out that it didn't really get to those places? Right.
Starting point is 00:15:11 So what's that about? So it may have been media misinformation? But they have no access to media. There is no media. Well, it took a few days. So they might have spread before then. London is a hub city of the world. Is it? Sure. Tell me more. And it may have gotten to New York and Paris and then been eradicated or something.
Starting point is 00:15:33 Yeah. But how would it get there? How would it get to New York? On a plane? But you know what I mean? The way the virus works, there's just no way, but whatever. Whatever. I mean, the BBC is a government organization, so it may have just been complete misinformation. Legit point. And they bring him up to speed on what's going on, and then he's like, well, I got to go find my parents, and they go to his parents' house.
Starting point is 00:15:54 Happy, happy times? No, it's a happy. Oh, sure, sorry, sorry. So let's talk about Mark's death. Yeah. So Jim is an idiot and he's walking around with a lit candle that's shining out of a window. To be fair, they don't really explain to him that he shouldn't. Yeah, it's true. Unless at least not on camera. That's true. There's a lot of downtime that we don't see.
Starting point is 00:16:20 It's true. And Selena is very thorough so she she must have explained it too. Yeah, she's a pretty on point. Two dudes come ripping in, well, he's having this like flashbacky dream sequencey thing, remembering his parents, his parents have committed suicide and left him a note that's pretty crushing where it says, do I need to... With endless love we left you sleeping, now we're sleeping too. Don't wake up. Write that note to your kid. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:16:47 It's so fucking brutal. Parents, don't be so brutal to your kids. You know? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So he's. So Jim's pretty old to be living at home.
Starting point is 00:17:00 I think he just stuffed in. Well, all of his stuff is still their. their. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. to. to. to. to. too, too, too. too. too, too, too, too, too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. to to too. to to to too. too. to to to to. I guess all of his stuff was still there. Yeah, because he's like, oh yeah, close upstairs in my room. What are you doing, Jim? Jim move out. So these guys, these infected, bust in, and they attack and mark its bit. Yeah. And there's the second where he's like, uh, Selena. And they had told Jim earlier that you have 10 to 20 seconds to kill the person. It's like fast acting virus. Fuck me.
Starting point is 00:17:28 And Selena does not, she hesitates for like, and then it's on. And I was like, when the first time I saw this was like, oh, she's gonna hack off his arm. Because after you do a zombie movie, you hack off the infected, you turnicate it it it. You turnicate it and you hope that you stop the infection from getting to him. Because the first thing she hits is his arm because he raises it defensively. And then she just butchers it. Yeah. There's bloodsprang everywhere. Super gory. So sad. They've been keeping each other alive. And now she just had to murder him. Well, she's just traded
Starting point is 00:17:58 for Jim, let's be honest. Yeah. Those cheek bones. Those full lips th lips th lips th lips th lips th lips th lips th lips th lips th th th th th thi thi th th th th thi thi thi th th thi thi thi thi thi thoes thoes thoes thoes thoes thi thi the the thoes thoes thoes th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thoes thoes thoes th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th see some other movies he's in. I know he's in the Batman. Yeah, yeah, he's got an American accent and you know, you know, no, I don't want that. And then you have to watch a Batman movie. I want to see them because they're filmed here, like I saw them being filmed outside of my office. Yeah, but, Batman? He's an American accent? Yeah. That's cool. How talented he is. He's in a bunch of stuff.
Starting point is 00:18:32 Yeah, Peet Blin. Yeah, he is in Inception. Yeah, he is in a, I guess he's in a few Christopher Nolan movies. Is that? Is that? Cool. Silly and Murphy. Do you call him silly? Silly Murphy. Silly Murphy.
Starting point is 00:18:50 So Jim and Selina are now on the run and she's lambasting him for being an idiot and telling him that like the only thing you can do is survive. That's the only thing you can hope for. See, again, post-apocalyptic world, I don't want it. I don't want to be the the the the the the to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to want it. I don't want to be either. Oh, God, no. I'm going the rude of Jim's parents, just calling it a fucking day. Yeah, I also don't want to be torn apart by fast people. No, so just like, I mean, I'm not advocating anyone committing suicide ever, but post-apocalyptic world, you think about it.
Starting point is 00:19:18 Currently, seek help post-apocalypse. Do what you're saying? Live your life or don't. This is also where we see Jim dry shaving. A lot of dry shaving lately in these movies. Yeah, yeah, when they find Brendan Gleason. Oh, I'm sorry, that's later. Yeah, yeah. There's a heartbreaking scene of him asking her to wait on the stairs, like begging her to wait? That's heartbreaking. They see flashing lights. They're lights, they're climbing a tower block which is blocked off by trollies. Shopping trollies, or shopping carts, or what's the other thing people call them? Anyway, it doesn't matter. Sorry, Brain, how you do it? So they climb all these steps and Jim is like fucked up at this point because he's been
Starting point is 00:19:57 in a coma for 28 days and like the fact that he's walking is insane. Yeah. And he's just been eating the the the the the the the the the the the the the the, Selena tears up the steps as the monsters are coming in to kill them. And then she gets to the top of the steps and Brendan Gleason is there in full riot gear. Yeah. And just beats the shit out of these dudes and throws him in the stairwell. And then is the happiest man on earth. Really nice. Got that sweet daughter. I love him. Like as an actor, I think he's fantastic. What do I know him from? I should have looked that up before I uh... Um, I'm trying to think of what Katie would know him. He's in a ton of stuff. He's in a to'n'a'n'a'those dudes that I'm like, man, I hope I look like that dude when I'm that age. Whatever age he's at currently, which may be my age, I hope I look like that too.
Starting point is 00:20:51 Nah, he's a pretty old dude. Yeah, he's been in a lot of movies. I have not seen any of them. But you recognized him. Yes, thii. that th. th. th. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi's thi's thatea thateat that thath. tho that that that that tho that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that. that. that. that. that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that weird. So we meet Frank and Hannah. Yes, Hannah is his daughter. Yeah, very sweet. Yep. She is very useful in a lot of ways. Like being a fucking NASCAR pit crew level tire changer. What is her life? You know what I mean? I do.
Starting point is 00:21:19 It's insane. Like, he must, yeah, I guess he just trained her to do that, like at a young age. Because he's he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he th th is a th is a th is a th is a th is a th is a th is a th. th. th. th. th. th. thi is a that's is a that's is a that's is a that's is a that's is a that's is a that's is a that's is a that's is a that's is a that's is a that's is a that's is a that's is a that's is a that's is a that's is a that's is a that's is a that's is a that's is a that's is a that's that's that's that's a that's a that's a that's a t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. tha. tha. tha. that. that. that trained her to do that, like at a young age, I don't, because he's a taxi driver. Oh, that's true. Do you change a lot of times? I would imagine? I would imagine? Yeah. With your child. Frank has heard a signal coming from this.
Starting point is 00:21:33 He's got one of them, one of them, the basement, theyrown's, because, I. to's like a false alarm apocalypse. Or it turns out that it was like a prank everybody's playing on you and they're like, oh fuck. April 4, oh God! Everyone who's listening to this, don't do that to us. Don't fake apocalypses. It's not funny. Oh, on his wind-em-up radio he's like, we should go. And we can't do this alone. We need you guys to go with us. So they all agree to go. Yeah. And they hop in his taxi cab for a hilarious
Starting point is 00:22:08 scene with a fun, upbeat poppy dance song going. Yeah. And they go to the supermarket and it's a great scene of shopping at the supermarket. It looks like supermarket which the show that I loved. How did that supermarket remain. that super. that super. that super. that super. that super. that super. that super. that super. that super. that super. that super. that super. that super. that super. Like it didn't get rated. Everything else has been raided up until this point. And it's like fluorescent lights are on, everything is like in its place. Zombies don't eat food, they only eat. I don't think they're eating anything. Well, the problem, I mean they end the movie by them starving to death. Right. Well, and what are they're eating when they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're their they're they're their their they're their their their their their their their their their their their they their they they they they their their their their their they they they they they their. th. th. th. thi. th. the. the. the. th. their they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. th. the. the. the. the. the. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. to death. Right. Well, and what are they eating when they stay alive? I don't think, I think this is just, they're like, they're going to run a natural progression. They should try eating if they want to survive. I don't. Just as a species, you'd think you would instinctively. That's how evolution works. I think the thing is that they're virus, like it shuts off everything but your anger.
Starting point is 00:23:06 The only thing that's operating is your anger and your kill drive. I truly don't think there's anything in the world that could shut off my hunger. Forever hungry. So they, dude, I love the scene in the grocery store because when they're leaving Frank puts his card down to pay for it. Yeah. And I was like, oh, that's fun. That is cute.
Starting point is 00:23:30 And then he tries to do that tunnel. Why does he drive through the tunnel? I don't know. Even Jim is saying this is a bad idea. He should know. It's also like an old car. It's like, I mean, when I say old car, I mean like, oldie-timing. Like, what year is that car? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:23:53 I don't know. I mean, 50s? I don't know what cars? They got one of them weird cars? I don't know. Whatever, it's an old car. And they pop a tire in this tunnel that they've driven over all these cars. And his poor daughter is under that car with those rats. Yeah. It's an awful scene. Awful. Yeah, fucking rats. Awful. And the, it turns out the rats are running from the running people.
Starting point is 00:24:21 Yeah. Yeah. Here's one quibble I have with the running people. Yeah. Who are very frightening? Yeah. Here's one quibble I have with the movie. And this is only because I've seen it multiple times. Sure. So they drive out of the tunnel. Hannah quickly does change the car, change the tire. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:34 I like the way faster infected or chasing them. And they get to the end of the tunnel and then just start as like, God damn it. I'm like, I know, right? Are they tired? Yeah, what are you doing? Rage on, the ta. I guess they're not eating.
Starting point is 00:24:56 It's like, they have no energy. They have the the the they're the the they're the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's thoom. It's. It's. It's. They they. They they. They they. They they're they're they're they're they're. They. They. They. They. They. They. They. They. They. They. They. They. They. They. They. They. They. They. They have. They have. They have. They have. They have. They have. They have. They have. They have. They have. They have. They have. They have. They have. They have. Oh, look at us. The pasta. Spicing at the bar. That's pretty good protein. Meat group. And I really like that. The scene where the, why is they're driving away the one zombie gets its face right up against the tail light? So it's just this red, evil, yucky face?
Starting point is 00:25:20 It's pretty good. Then they see those fucking horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses horses their horses horses their horses horses their their their their their their they they they they they they they they they they they're they they're they're they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they their their their their their their their their their their their they see those fucking horses and I was like, oh, I wish they were infected. Oh, come on. They're beautiful majestic stalions. I have the note, ecc.C.H. Horses. Ecch. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:34 Yeah. Ech. So this is where, um. I was looking for something. It's okay. The cinematography sort of changes at this point. And it's th. And it's th. And it's th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It's th. th. th. It's th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. they's they's they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they's. they's. they's. they's. they's. they's. they's. they's. they. they's. they. they. they. they. they. they're they. they're they're they're th. th. the. the. theateateateateateat. th. th. th. th. theateateateatea. they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they the I was looking for something. It's okay. The cinematography sort of changes at this point and it stops being so washed out once they get into the country.
Starting point is 00:25:50 Like the colors are a little more vibrant and a little more. I didn't notice that. I wasn't sure if that was intentional or just the way they were like. I'm assuming that it was intentional, like that they're just kind of like, it's a little safer out here. It's a little like you're a little less like frantic the whole time. Okay. They're trying to go to sleep and Hannah and Jim can't fall asleep and Selina has fallen asleep. And it turns out she's taken a bunch of valium to fall asleep.
Starting point is 00:26:12 That doesn't make any sense to me. Like this woman who's on the defensive constantly, it's like, unrealistic to me. She's just an arsenal of a pharmacy with her too. Yeah, she's like, oh, I train as a pharmacist. What? You probably, no, when you steal it? Whatever. And, but I really like the scene where Jim is trying to convince Frank to let Hannah have one of the pills.
Starting point is 00:26:38 And he's like, he's just adorable where he keeps flipping his head back, the two of them. Yeah. It's really fun. Which really comes back to bite Hannah later. No drugs for Hannah. You know? Jesus. Yeah, it's so, oh, god damn it. Yeah, I, I think that. This film is relentless.
Starting point is 00:26:53 Yeah, that's not true. Because right now, which I really like. I like that it was like literally the road, road, road, the road's going up, here's the horizon, and then there's the city, and it's just in flames, yeah. I love that shot and I love the shot and they crest that one hill and then there's the big windmills that are going. And that's sort of like, oh, well, some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some, are still functioning. Some things can be powered, yeah. And it's just gorgeous the way it's shot, too.
Starting point is 00:27:25 And I always think when I'm driving across the interstate to go to Philadelphia, there's one like hill that you crest and there's all those windmills, the wind farm there. And then what happened? On the turnpike, you probably stop and go to the bathroom and go the big one. The clean one. Yeah, yeah, it's really nice. I hate, I always have to go to the bathroom at Midway and it's always filthy. Didn't they put a new building in there? Yeah, they did recently. Yeah, at least they clean up that bathroom. It's fucking disgusting.
Starting point is 00:27:51 It was always like you'd go in and be like, oh, I this. So they get to the blockade? Yeah. Number 42, the one they've been looking for. Yeah. And no one's home. Yeah. Where were they? I guess this part, I was like, where were you 10 minutes ago?
Starting point is 00:28:13 Do you know what I mean? They were in the's going to come back later. Is it? Mm-hmm. Well, you tell me because I don't know. Do you want me to reveal why they weren't? Yeah. Because there was two dudes and two women and they wanted to see if they can get rid of one dude. Why? Because they wanted to...
Starting point is 00:28:34 But I mean, like, you know, they were going to do that, to see what these people are all about. Yeah. So Frank is irate because he doesn't know what to do now. Yeah. And if you've ever been around to dad, as soon as they don't know what to do, fucking freak out. Fuckin' freak out. Dad's not. Your jets cool them.
Starting point is 00:28:54 to cool them. You have none. Um... Does have no chill, do they? No. Why is that? I don't know. So then Frank has like gone off on his own and he's like raged everybody and just yelled at them and he's gone off and he like sees a crow eating one of the dead bodies. And throws a rock or something at it? He like hits the wall to get it to fly away.
Starting point is 00:29:22 Oh yeah, that's right. Dumb thing to do Frank. Knocs blood off and just a drop falls into his eye. Gross. And as soon as it hits his eye, he's like, fuck. Yeah. And then a real pick me up scene, a real stoked, happy scene happens. Where Hannah comes up and asked him how he's doing. He's like what and starts going towards him and he already is starting to bug out. And then Salina starts screaming at Jim
Starting point is 00:29:50 to kill him. Jim can't kill this guy. He just knows him and he's his friend and they just went grocery shopping together. And he's also like three times the size of Jim. That's true. But he doesn't have to. But he doesn't have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to. But he. But he. But he. But he. But he. But he. But he. But he. But he's to be to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to. But he. But he. But he. But he. But he. But he. But he. But he. But he. But he. But he. But he. But he. But he. But he. But he. But he. But he. But he. But he. But he. But he. But he. But he. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. th. th. th. th. th. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. and shoot him. Like a bazillion times. So sad. Yeah. So, oh God. I love Frank. So they get taken up to the main house where all the army people are? Yeah. And that's where we meet Chris Heckleston. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:16 West. Henry West, yeah. So they're like staying at this house that is now an army house. Right. And we meet Mailer, the soldier who's been infected that they have on a chain outside. Giving him a real wide birth though. He's got a lot of room to run. Yes.
Starting point is 00:30:34 You'd rain that in a little. And why would you put all those sheets around him? That's where they're drying doing with this guy? Yeah. Why is he given this whole yard to run in? Because you clearly don't care what happens to him, because you're starving him out. Just, why not put him in a little tiny cage? Yeah. Whatever.
Starting point is 00:30:52 I guess just for the scares. Right. So West is trying to show it. he's just showing Jim what's going on and what they're doing here. And there are no other civilians there, even though they've been broadcasting this message. We also see that they have this lawn full of, what we're told, are full of landmines. Right. Yeah. And they have like, you know, all these defenses, walls and barbed wire and um, floodlights and thi thi thi thi thi thi's thatlid lights, like that that.... that that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that that that thea thea that. that. that the. th th th tho-thea th th th th th th th that. they they they they th. they they th. they that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. they they they they they they they they they they they're they're they're they're they're they're they. their their their their tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. their tha. their their their their their their tha. their tha. their this happens while they're there. And they kill all these infected and then the majors like get out there and clear the bodies and I was like, beware the landmines guys like, couldn't wait till morning? Guess not. There's the great scene where one hits a landmine, flies and then hits a second landmine? Oh God. You get the sense right off the bat
Starting point is 00:31:45 that these soldiers are just like kind of run amuck. Yeah, they've lost, they're losing it a little for sure, yeah. They're all fairly interchangeable I would say. Sure. Yeah. Right, there's like the weak one and then the rest of them are just super agro. And the one who like has thoughts, the philosopher. Yeah. Has thoughts? That's, philosophers better. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:06 So you want to talk about what happens next? You can, if you'd like. So it's your pick, sir. West tells Jim that the reason that they've been out, put out this message, they don't have a cure, they don't have anything like that, but he promises men that he'd give them women, so they wouldn't kill themselves. To repopulate the earth, because what do men do if they're just waiting to die, I guess? The thing is, I feel this could have been presented to them better, this theory. A little better.
Starting point is 00:32:39 Yeah. Like maybe wait till you get to know them and be like, listen, on a practical level, if we're they they they they they they they we we we we we we we we're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're thi. they're thi. they're to to to thi. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to th. th. to th. th. to th. to th. th. th. thi. thi. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. thean. to to to to to and be like, listen, on a practical level, if we're going to keep doing this, you know, we're going to have to work this out at some point. But that is not what it is. No, and this is where you start to see that West has also cracked and sort of lost his mind as well. Until that point, he seemed he seemed. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. to, to to, to, to, to, to be. the the to, to, to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. to, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the the th. thi. thi. thi. tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. thea, tha,. He's got to, he touches Jim a lot. Does he? Yeah, there's like a hand on shoulder, like. Wouldn't you touch Jim a lot though if you had the chance? I suppose I would.
Starting point is 00:33:11 Yeah. And then like, after he tells him this and, you know, they then are like, they had like the raid from the infected or whatever, and, and, like, and, like, like, like, like, and, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, and, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the the the the the the the the the the the the... the. the. the. the. the. the the the the the the the the the the and the one guy takes Selena's machete and is acting like it's his wiener. Yeah. And Jim gets into a fight with him, gets knocked out for a second. Yeah. And that's when West tells him like, this is what's happening and now you have to die. Yeah. And then the philosopher has also has to die because he is like... He doesn't want them to keep them there. Yeah. So they they th. th. th want th. th. th th th th th th th th th th th th th th the. th the thi the. the. the. the. the. the the the the the the the. the the the the their their their their their the their their the the the the the the their the their their their their their their their their their their their th. th. th. th. the the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the the the the the the the theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee the the the the the them there yeah so they take them out to kill them somewhere yeah and do a very poor job at it very poor get away can they get away no philosopher gets shot philosopher sort of puts himself up get killed so that Jim can run away okay and then Jim unleashes mailer on the house which is a good move and a bad move because your friends are still in there yeah yeah I think the same thing yeah like there's a the same the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. tho. theeeee. tho. they they're they're they're there. Jim, what are you thinking? Yeah, like, without any consideration for what might happen to the women in there.
Starting point is 00:34:08 One of the most confusing things happens when Jim goes over that wall that's covered in barbed wire and he comes down without his shirt on? Yeah, I just did it. I guess it got stuck, but his hands were tied. So how did the shirt come off? Well, I don't, I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi, thi. the thi. thi. thi, the the most their their their the most the most the most the most the most, the most, the most, the most, the most, the most, the most, the most, the most, the most. the most. the most. the most. the most. the most. the most. their. their. their. th. th. th. th. th. th. I guess. Fine. Do you think he was like, this isn't really working because my hands are tied and they were like, ah, kak, kak, kak, take a shirt off. I wonder if it was like, oh, today we're gonna shoot. You didn't have a shirt on. Take a shirt. Take a shirt off. I wonder if it was like, tod. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. don't think so. Did I have a shirt? God damn it, Ricky, put a fucking shirt on that barbed wire. Where's the continuity guy? He's over in the corner eating cake. Oh, god damn it. Yeah. Oh, I love cake. Oh, I love cake.
Starting point is 00:34:51 Oh, I love cake. So, Hannah and Selena are left to deal with. It's terrific. It's terrible. I don't want to talk. the to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to. to. to. to. to. to. to. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the tho. tho. tho. tho. thea. thea. ta. ta. tape. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. thea. thea. don't know if I can talk about this. I don't want to talk about it. So then Jim like sounds the alarm, a couple guys run out to go and kill him, yes. How do air raid sirens work? It's, you turn them. Yeah, but what is making the sound? Uh, there must be something rubbing on something, I would assume. assume and then the cone is projecting it. Things I should have looked up before this episode and said I just wrote down the note, how to air rate sirens work?
Starting point is 00:35:27 Alan will know. A mechanical siren generates sound by spinning a slotted chopper wheel to interrupt a stream of air at a regular rate. Modern sirens can develop a sound level of up to 135 decibels at 100 feet. Wow. I mean I guess that makes sense. It actually doesn't answer anything for me. Because here are the words that I don't know what they mean in the description. Slotted chopper wheel? It's like a fan blade but it's a solid. Do you remember
Starting point is 00:35:54 those like air or those like party blower things that you would get as a kid, not the one that unfurls but the one that just makes that really high-pitched pitch squeal when you blow into it? No. No, this might have been an old-timey thing. Yeah. So basically like the air is moving through it and this thing is chopping up the the air, the sound that the air is making and then projecting it out. Like when you talk through a fan sort of deal. Can I scream into that fan and see what yeah? Yeah, go ahead. Should I get behind it? Do whatever you want. Yeah, behind it's fun. Ah! Yeah, so did you hear how it was like kind of, blah, blah, blah, yeah? So that's sort of the same idea behind an air raid siren. So that's why it's like... That's science at work. We just did some Mr. Wizard shit in here.
Starting point is 00:36:36 All right, cool. I just wanted to know. I mean, I guess I'd never thought about it, but I was like surprised that he was cranking it, but I mean if you don't have power and then your aeriaid sirens become useless. So I'm just surprised. Yeah, good, science, cool. Inventions. Thanks. So Jim starts killing off the soldiers. He like goes primal. He just starts losing his shit.
Starting point is 00:36:57 It's pretty good. The eyes. Just digging your thumbs into someone's eyes. They linger on that eyes. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah. Just digging your thumbs into someone's eyes. I'd linger on that shot, too, huh? Well, it's very distressing. Yeah, with the guy's screaming, and he deserves it. He deserves it. He's a piece of crap.
Starting point is 00:37:11 I took a self-defense once where they taught us how they to, and how to whatever. But the guy who taught it was like, listen, you to be ready to put your fingers in somebody's eyes and dig them out. Like, you have to be ready to do that. You should be mentally prepared to do that. And I was like, hmm. I don't think I'll ever be mentally prepared to put my fingers in someone's eyes and dig them out. Like, because can't I go to chill for that? I don't have that. I. I. th th th to th to to to to to to to to their to to to to to to to to to to to to to to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be their. I to be th. I to be the. I to be ready. I to be ready. I to be to be ready. I to be to be ready. I to be to be to be to to be to be to be to be to be to be to be the time and I'm just like, ah! Phrall! He said, prepared, not constantly doing. Well, listen, if I'm preparing for a thing, I'm going to execute it. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:54 So I think about that a lot. So he's gone primal and it looks like he's basically infected because he's just acting like a maniac. Yeah. Smashing the dude's head against the wall and plugging his eyes out. Total lunacy. And Selena grabs her machete. Yeah. And she waits.
Starting point is 00:38:11 She hesitates for longer than a second. Yeah. Because she loves him. Yeah. Because of course there's a love story. Because how could you nod? He's so sensitive. And then they start making out. Oh yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:30 Intently making out. Yeah. Which they've done a couple times, you know. Yeah. And you're like, all right, whatever. But he's covered in everybody else's blood. Yeah. It's gross. But I guess they've been living gross. This is one of those things where I was like, oh, tho, tho, tho, tho, thu, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, they's they's they's they's they's they's they's th. th. they're they're th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. thi. thi's thi's thi's thi's thiiiiiiiiii. thiiiiiii. thi. thi's they're thi. they's they're living gross, you know? This is one of those things we're like, oh, fuck. So this is my thing?
Starting point is 00:38:45 This is what I'm into, I guess. I guess. And then it shows all the zombies starving to death out on the road, which is, even that's a little bit sad. Like, zombie starving to death, kind of, I guess. Just staring at an airplane. And then they live this like happy little agrarian lifestyle, seemingly in a cottage somewhere and then are saved by, I don't know, Finnish people? I thought they were Americans.
Starting point is 00:39:09 Oh, and they're like, it's called helicopter. Oh. Maybe they're German, I don't know. Language is I don't know. Let me check the, uh, also Americans aren't saving shit. You know. When he, we forgot to mention that when he jumps over that one wall and he's laying on the other side of the hill, he's looking up and he sees a plane going over a head. So he is now hopeful that they can get free, which I think is what gives him the get up and go to save them.
Starting point is 00:39:36 Yeah, yeah, it is, they are finished. Okay. Jet flyers. There's all these alternative endings. Do you ever watch them? The DVD extras? Yes. All of which conclude with Jim dying, according to this. They do. Yeah, they chose the probably the best ending. I'm looking at them. Jim dies at the hospital. Isn't there one where it's like, it was all a dream? Hospital dream, yeah. Rescue Coda without Jim. Right. So, because he has been, uh, he's been shot at this point. Then there's a radical alternative ending?
Starting point is 00:40:11 Yeah, which I don't think they actually shot. Yeah, it sounds like it was just storyboarded. Frank is infected at the military blockade near Manchester, the soldiers to not eno e'nolent the story. Instead, Jim, Selena and Hannah are somehow able to restrain Frank, hoping they will find a cure for the virus, suggested, nearby, as suggested in the radio broadcast. They soon discover the blockade protected a large medical research complex. They find a scientist barricaded inside a room with food and water. The answer to infection is in there.
Starting point is 00:40:39 They explain the situation, complete blood transfusion. Jim is the only match with Frank's blood type so he sacrificed himself so Frank can survive with his daughter. Oh, that's nice with Jim. They leave Jim alone in the abandoned medical facility, thrashing infected Jim, chimps. Huh, whatever. You could see why they didn't go with that one. Yeah, I imagine being the studio and reading that and being like, I don't think so.
Starting point is 00:41:07 So Katie, you ready to rate this guy? Yeah. You want to go first? Okay. This is a fucking bomber. Yeah. It was a harsh reminder that these movies aren't all fun. I think we just hadn't done one that I didn't find fun or funny or something.
Starting point is 00:41:26 Or so shitty that it's funny. Yeah, for a while. And I know when I said the ring you laughed at that, but I found the ring kind of fun fun because it's a lot of silly moments in where I was like, oh my god, are you fucking getting me? Yeah. I feel like the last real one of these we did was hush, which is not really a fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun... hush, which is not really a fun movie because it's pretty tense. Oh man. I mean, I would definitely recommend people watch this.
Starting point is 00:41:49 I would definitely watch it again. So on those notes, I guess I have to give it a higher score than I would like to. But God, when it ended, I was so fucking bond. Really? Even though it's like a joyous ending that they're saved? Yeah, because everyone they've ever loved is dead. Yeah, but they've got each other now. Yeah. It's a small consolation. The movie's pretty great.
Starting point is 00:42:10 It's a little long, a little long for me, like two hours is, you know how I've got. I'll give it a... I'll give it a... ... You're giving it a Jew on? I need to decide. I haven't decided. You think I would know before I got here. Oh no, I never know what's gonna happen. I still know what's gonna happen. Huh?
Starting point is 00:42:32 Not even at this exact moment. No. I like when you were giving it a Nate though. I give it an eight, dog, which is in my book of 10. Yeah, I'll give it an eight. I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I think it's a great movie. I'm super fucking depressed. I feel awful inside. But I mean a lot of stuff makes me feel awful and I just live with it so it's like, you know, carry on my wayward son. Carry on my wayward son. There'll be peace when you are done. Lay your weary head to rest. Don't you cry no more.
Starting point is 00:43:07 The first time I saw this movie, my friend Sal, was like you have to see this because I, like, he was like, I just white-knuckled it the entire time. And then I watched it and I was like, holy shit, that was amazing. because I, like, he was like, I just white-knuckleed it the entire time. And then I watched it and I was like, holy shit, that was amazing. It's relentless. Like, it's just totally beautiful in that, like, they were just like, oh, we're going to take all of these troops from zombie movies and just keep hitting you with that's high. Yeah. Detracting because I think the choice in cinematography takes away from it a bit. I agree. It's almost a little hard to watch at points where you feel like it's being shot with like a handy cam because it basically is.
Starting point is 00:43:55 And it's just... It feels like a YouTube video for a while. Yeah, which can get grading, I never really got used to it. Okay. Yeah. It's really well executed. And like, I understand that it beget a lot of things that people might not like like the fast-moving zombies and all that stuff. And dead snow.
Starting point is 00:44:13 But that's our other fast-moving zombie moving, I think that we've seen, right? But it also, it kind of revitalized zombies and made them a thing again where people were like, you know, this and then Shauna the dead wasn't like pretty soon after and yeah that's still slow-moving zombies but like yeah. And they gave us the walking dead. Yeah and then zombies just overtook everything. And then yeah they were on like bumper stickers and t-shirts and everywhere and jokes and there's those the like my family stickers that are zombies now. Or zombies eating a family? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.. the. the. the. the. the.. the............................................................................... the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the are zombies now. Or zombies eating a family? I haven't seen that. Yeah. There's one that I really like.
Starting point is 00:44:47 It's a person who parks in the same lot where I parked to go to work and it used to be a family of four and then they scratch the dad off and I was like, oh, I love that. I just imagine the like, the angry, like, the like, the angry, like, the the the they, they, they, they, they, they, they, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, like, the, like, like a butter knife. Pretty stoked about it. It's pretty depressing. Speaking of things that are depressing and I'm giving a high score too. If you see the one that like the man in the wielding a chainsaw wearing a hockey mask chasing a stick figure family that says nobody cares about your stick figure family and I just want to be like no but you do. Yeah you care. you're angry angry angry. Anger is still caring. I would kind of like to get one and I've seen this done and I really like it where it's just a shitload of cats. Oh yeah yeah pretty into that. I've seen that like it was like a couple
Starting point is 00:45:36 and then like six cats? Yeah would that be weird if I put that that, I mean, would you just get more cats to get up to six? You're only allowed to have five in the city of Pittsburgh. Is that true? Yeah, you're one animal away from the animal max. It's because they don't know about the hermit crab. I don't think hermocraps and fish and stuff count. I think it you found it. You know what? It's not hard, is it?
Starting point is 00:46:06 You know what else is easy? Signing up for Cryptocurium. It's true. What's CryptoCurium? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:47:51 I hate holidays? But what about a fun horror movie about holidays? Like Silent Night Deadly Night? Let's do that again, so maybe people will listen to it this time. We're doing black Christmas if we do another Christmas for tho. Starting point is 00:48:11 We're going to do holidays. Holidays. Holidays. It's on Netflix. It's from this year. It's a my list. How many stars it got on that Netflix? Well, here's the thing about the stars on Netflix. I don't think it's necessarily what people gave it, so much is it what it thinks you will give it.
Starting point is 00:48:30 Ew. Yeah, because I think, I don't think. Don't tell me what I like Netflix. That's the whole thing. It's telling you what it's so messed up. It's like Spotify. All I listen to on it is like basically Nelly and it's like how about this? I really don't think it's, yeah I think that's what they think you'll think of it. I could be wrong. Well let's see if we give it better than anything. Yeah, it gave me one and a half star. Yeah, it gave me one and a th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi th. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. th. th. th. be fun.
