Starting point is 00:00:09 Welcome! Wait, is that Gary Oldman? Wait, Wait. One more time? Buh. It's like Gary Oldman is in the room with you right now. Yeah. Well, hold on.
Starting point is 00:00:22 Let me pull my hair line back halfway down my head. Your buns are weird. That's not what I meant. Hello. Look we injured. And welcome to an episode of WhereWilfamulance where Katie says my buns are weird. I'm Alan. I'm Katie. And we are joined by two guests. Two guests. What? We're joined by John. Hello? And hello, Allison. And we're here to talk about Bram Stokers Dracula from 1992. Why did you do this? Well, we just opened up a bookstore and we wanted to, when we were talking to Alan about this, we were like, oh, what's a good literary adaptation?
Starting point is 00:01:01 And some of this is a really good literary adaptation. And some is nonsense. Yeah. When Alan told me you guys wanted to do as he called it, a book movie, I thought it was, I was like trying to think of a horror movie about books and I was like never-ending story or. There's probably like Stephen King something about there's John Carpenter's in the mouth of madness, which is about a Stephen King like author that writes books books ths ths ths ths that ths th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thinks, thinks, thinks, thinks, thinks, like, the, thi, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the, the, the, the, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, like, like, like, th, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, thi, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, thi, thi, thi, thi, like, like, thi, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, of Madness, which is about a Stephen King like author that writes books that come to life. Gotcha. Starring Yurgan Prochnow? Oh and Sam Neal. I'm glad you're all shaking here. Oh Sam Neal, I know, yeah. Urgen Procnail is the captain from Das Boot? Nope. No. All right. All the tradee's father?
Starting point is 00:01:45 From Dune? No? All right, I'm going to walk away now. I'll see you guys later. So we're going to talk about Bram's Joker's Dracula. Ridiculous. While I was watching this, I imagined the two of you being like, like this is your favorite movie,
Starting point is 00:01:56 and like before you go to each other. That's actually how we get it. That's great. I'm glad. I was some green mist and Allison was asleep. He searched for me through seas of time. Yeah. Seas of time. And you just get ripping your bodice open to which I thought was inappropriate. Yeah. Yeah. Because I know what men desire.
Starting point is 00:02:19 At least Francis Ford Copela. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Just getting every one of his fetches out. What do you want? Werewolf sex? Yeah, I'm gonna do that. You want blood cannons? Blood cannons. You want Annie Lennox? Fine. You can have Annie Lennox? I mean. Yeah. We just kind of let that play. Yeah. After we were like, don't like, all right, time to get ready. Yeah. And just let that roll. Yeah. the song at the song. Oh song song song song song song song song song song song song song song song song song song song song song song song song song song song song. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. Yeah. I. Yeah. I. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I. I. I. I. Yeah. I. Yeah. Yeah. the. the. the. Yeah. Yeah.. the. Yeah................................................................... the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the song at the end. A little song for a vampire. I was like, was Annie Lennox in this movie? Where was she at? She was, she played Gary Oldman playing Dracula. Dracola.
Starting point is 00:02:52 I should confess right now that I own this movie on DVD. You purchase it with your own money. Yeah, yeah. Should we go around the table and say what everyone was doing in 1992? Sure. to th. 1992. If you'd like, you're not gonna like the answer. Oh sure, well I graduated high school that year, so I was a full-blown adult. And Katie? 92? How old was I in 92? Oh, eight. Eight. Yeah. I don't know, maybe I learned to ride a bike, I'm not sure. It was probably a good year. I think I got into soccer that year. I started playing on a little team? A little people? Just all small people people. I. I. I. I. I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, well, I, I, I, I, I, I th, I th, well, I th, well, I th, well, I th, well, well, I thi. Well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well. Well. Well, well. Well. I th. I th. I th. I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I th. I th. I, I, I, I th. I, I, I th. I th. I th. I, I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. th. thi, I thi, I thi, I th. the. the. the. th. the. the. thi. th. th. th. th. th. think I got into soccer that year. I started playing on a little team, a little team, a little people.
Starting point is 00:03:26 Just all small people. All small people. Yeah, what about you guys? I was seven. I think I would have all been seven, yeah. So second, second grade? Yeah. Oh yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:37 I remember I was reading a lot of like kid, kid scary books, okay? Yeah, some goosebumps and there's this one dude who wrote like one about like a camp where there are monsters and I was really into that in second grade. It might have been called monster camp, yeah. I feel like we grew up in an era of like really good kids horror, like TV and book and film, yeah. Yeah, I think you guys did. Better than better, but all my kids TV horror was adult. Yeah, it was like dark shadows and that's like like like like like, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's the the the their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their tap. tod. tod. tod. tod. today. today. their. their their their their the kids DVHara was adult yeah it was like dark shadows and that stuff. Yeah it's not for you. No, maybe it was. Scared the shit out of me. Yeah. I also went to a summer camp that was across the street from a cemetery. So we did a lot of grave rubbings as part of our summer camp so that explains a lot about who I am.
Starting point is 00:04:24 Grave rubber. Wow. Summer camp, so that explains a lot about who I am. Grave rubber. All right, should we try to, or should we just talk about this movie? Can't you submit it? I feel like the movie presupposes that you've read the book and that they don't need to explain anything to you. And they're going to change a lot of it. Yeah, and also like a lot of it, it's like, okay, what if we the th if we th if we th if we th if we th if we th if we th if we th if we th if we th if we th if we that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that thi. that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that that that th. th. that that th. th. that that th. that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that th. th. th. th. th. a lot of it. And also, like a lot of it, it's like, okay, what if we did Dracula as a really good adaptation and then just added a whole lot of bullshit to it. Yeah. Like, that doesn't make any sense and is all melodramatic.
Starting point is 00:04:55 Yeah. Okay, cool. Good. Since we're not going to submit it into something real quick that confuses me to this day. Having seen this movie in the theater at 92, I've lived with it for quite a while now. That sounds sad. I don't know why when you say it, it sounds so bad. 24 years? I'm living with this movie.
Starting point is 00:05:14 I watch it on the regular, too. But what version of Arabian Nights has all the sex scenes in it? When she drops the book, I was like, oh, is that the Kama Sutra? Nope, it's Arabian Knights that she's holding. Don't know. I don't know. Do they decide, like, you know, probably making it the actual Kama Sutra, that's going to strain credibility and like, it's going to break the illusion that we have here. I would like to talk about the opening with Gary Oldman as. Taylor. Yes, and his armor? Yes, I think we both, like one of our first notes is muscle
Starting point is 00:05:46 armor. It just looks like flayed muscle. See, I just heard he's dressed like a lobster. I would have looked at it more, more heroically, I guess. The lobster was so good. Yeah, it's a lot of red. It's very, very ribed. It's very ribbed. With like a dog head. Yeah, I wasn't sure. There's a very red. Yeah, it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like, it's like. It's like. It's like, it's like, it's like, it. It's like, it. It's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it. It's like, it. It's like, it. It's like, it. It's like, it. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like, it's like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the like, like, like, like, the like, like, like, like, like, the like, like, like, like, like, the like, like, like, the like, the like, the like, the like, the. There's a lot of red. Very textured. But yeah, I could see being like a flayed. Very ribbed. With like a dog head? Yeah, I wasn't sure. Because then they like jump right into like the silhouette battle. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:13 I think it's supposed to be a dragon. Oh, that makes a lot of more sense. Yeah. I think the design of this film like aesthetically is amazing and like the prop design and the colors are throughout. Every one of his permutations from wherewolf to giant bat person to pile of rats man like I think look amazing when they're going through them but and I think it starts with his armor yeah yeah the costumes are incredible yeah like every dress that Mino wears, I love.
Starting point is 00:06:47 And they're not at all symbolic. You're not like, oh, she's wearing red now. Yeah. Something may have changed. All of the like billowing fabric when Lucy like runs out of the mansion is beautiful. It is. And what did you guys think of the opening battle sequence, the like silhouetted fan? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:08 I like it. I like it. Yeah, and then later on when they're in the cinema, technique, cinematograph, there's an actual like recreation of it in paper cutouts going on, which is like really a nice touch. Yeah, right before the wolf shows up. I miss that, yeah. Robin and I have been arguing a lot lately about what is and is not an action movie. So when this movie started, I was like, this is an action movie and he was like, no, it's
Starting point is 00:07:33 not it's an action packed. But that's not what it is, are they like, what is, are they like, what is like, what is, are like, what is, what is, what is, what is, what is, what is, what is, what is, what is, what is, what is, what is, what is, what, what is, what, what is, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what is, what, what, what is, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what????? What? What, what? What? What? What, what, what, what? What? What, what? What, what? What, what? What, what? What, what, what, what? What, what? What, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what is, what is, what is, what is, what is, what is, what is, what is, what is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, what is, is, what is, is, what is, is, what is, what is, what is, what, what action. It's action packs. Yeah, fight scenes. But that's not what it is, apparently. There's a chase, there's a shootout. I know. There are a lot of explosions. Very silly. Oh, yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:54 But first we have to get into him stabbing Jesus, right? Oh, God, damn. There's a lot of like the theds. Yeah, I love a bleeding statue. Yeah. I like that in a film. Dracula goes off to fight. Vladly impeller goes off to fight in a war and the Ottomans trick his wife into thinking that he, or his lover into thinking that he's died.
Starting point is 00:08:15 So she commits suicide in the- I'm even going to try to live her own life, by shooting an arrow with a note into the castle. Like, oh yeah, this is definitely true if it came in on an arrow. I kind of appreciate that because I think it's setting up the whole fairy tale aspect of it. Like, I mean, someone should have just showed up with a poison apple and offered it to her. It was that level. So she drumps out a window and we watch the entire fall, which is great because it's just like happening like like like like like in like in like in like in like in like in like happening like in like in like happening like in like in like in like happening like in like happening like in like in like in like in like happening like in like in like in like in like in like in his like in his like in his like in his like in his like in his the the the their like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, their, their, their, their, th....... th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the entire fall, which is great, because it's just like happening in his mind's eye for 20 minutes of her falling down the side of this mountain. And then he runs into the church and yells at old time
Starting point is 00:08:50 you at Anthony Hopkins. Did they just, like, whenever they needed anything, like, just grab Anthony Hopkins. Like, we need a voice over here. Here's an old priest. Oh, you're here. He's like, the thoen. thoen, tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. th. th. th. th. thi. th. th. thi. thi. th. thi. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. to thi. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. th. th. t. te. te. tean. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. the the the the He's like sitting there just reading the paper. He's like, I'm ready to go. I'll phone anything to do this. Yeah, it's like they're just like this. I guess they're trying to set up the dispen of this eternal battle between the two of them. Oh, yeah, that makes sense. I didn't notice it was Anthony. Oh, really? He looks so funny. Yeah. Yeah. the the the the the the the the the the the the th. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. Yeah. th. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the. the. Yeah. the. Yeah. the. Yeah. the. Yeah. Yeah. the. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I. Yeah. I. I. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the have the rental. But yeah, it runs in and stabs the cross and renounces God and like pledges himself to Satan as you do after your lovers dead and then drinks blood from a pleading cross. Yeah. And I was like, oh I'm watching the most heavy metal thing that's ever happened
Starting point is 00:09:36 in a movie. I'm, I mean, I'm not gonna, I haven't seen the Annie Lennox Love Song for V Vampire video, but I'm going to guess to guess to guess to guess to guess to guess to guess to guess to guess to to to to to the the Annie Lennox love song for a vampire video, but I'm going to guess that's in there. It's got to be. It has to be, right? It's probably just like scenes from the movie. With her like superimposed over it? Like so many cross dissolves. They did that a lot in the 90s. Yeah. Do you think at some a good it was a solid
Starting point is 00:10:07 dance probably ted doing a British accent is he's Ted in this movie right like I have a note that's Bill and Ted go to Transylvania yeah I mean like he left he left Bill behind yeah it's the same it's the same era right this is only like a year or two later. But don't, do we meet Renfield first before we like get to Keanu Reeves? My notes go in order, something about Renfield and then bad accent appears. Yeah. Tom Waits is cool in this. Oh God, he's, he's the bees' knees. He seems like something about his performance and how it's staged, it makes me
Starting point is 00:10:39 think he's stepped over from a Terry Gilliam movie and into this. Sure. Like he's wearing weird metal things on his hands when we first see him and there's a lot a lot of weird. So I thought a lot about those metal things on his hands. And I was like, are they keeping him from making a fist? And I think they're just keeping him from scratching through with his fingernails. Like their their thrates, I their, I their, I, I, I, I, I their, I their, I, I their, I their, I their, I their, I their, I their, I their, I their, I thinks, I thinks, I thinks, I their, I thinks, I their, I thinks, I thi, I thi, I thi, I their, I their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, thi, theat, theat, theat, theat, theat, theat, theat, theat, theat, theat, theat,. Yeah, why do the guards have cages on their heads? I guess they can't, like, no one could get to their face? Yeah, yeah. Although it seems easier to restrain the prisoner, but...
Starting point is 00:11:12 Yeah, it's a nightmare place. Yeah. So go see their minotter. Yeah. to go out. It's like, this is no place for you, here, stay in this room. Go into my lunatic asylum, put on a nighty, and go lay down for a while. Now feel free to stroke Tom Wades' face, that's fine. Lots of face, joking. Who can resist stroking Tom Wades' face if it's an option, though?
Starting point is 00:11:36 It's true. Yes, so then we meet Jonathan Harker, aka Keana Reeves and what is he doing in this who thought this was a good idea I mean he is hunky he's easy on the eyes no I the only one I think he's not at his heartiest for me personally yeah have you seen John Wick though that's now though yeah and he hasn't he doesn't look any different I think he looks better as an older gentleman than he does in this air well they really they try to get that that that that that that th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th. the th. the th. the to to th. th. th. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He's. He's. t. t. t. t. t. tthe. the. Well they really they try to get that in the movie sometimes. You know it's ever-changing hair color. Yeah it goes dark it's dark to like dark gray to light gray back to dark gray I don't understand what they're him. No rhyme reason no. Oh God when his wig is fully gray it's the duked it's the dukeest it looks thing thing thing thing thing thing thing thing thing thing thing thing looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks looks it looks it looks it looks it. It is really. It is really. It is really. It's it. It's really. It's it. It's a the the the the to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like, it's a the. It's like. It's a the dukies looking thing ever. Seriously, looks straight out of to your Halloween store.
Starting point is 00:12:25 Yeah. So we meet John Thunarker and he's hanging out with his lady friend, Willamina Murray. I play if I went on a rider and they start making out and then there's peacock leaves that cover them up while they're making out. I'm just like, this is silly. Yeah, yeah. And then that peacock leafle turns turns turns turns th th th th th th th th th th th th the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their the the theer the the. their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their theck the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the is the. It's the. the. It's theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee.nel in the train. I kind of love all of the dissolves. The scene transitions, they're so overdone and ridiculous. Like when the circle of fire becomes the sun, yeah. It's amazing.
Starting point is 00:12:54 The one that really got me was where Lucy's severed head becomes a slab of roast beef. And I was like, whoa, that really got me deep in my gullet? Vampire Lucy is the coolest looking. She's my favorite. I remember around this time when the movie came out, Gothlady's were dressing like her. And I was like, huh, that's pretty dope. It's a good choice. It's good to help.
Starting point is 00:13:18 How do you guys feel about all the miniatures that are in this movie? There's so many miniatures? Like all the houses from far away are all miniatures. And the miniature train going through Transylvania and like. I love that. Yeah. You didn't notice that they were all tiny? It seemed really practical effect heavy, which is kind of an appealing thing about this movie.
Starting point is 00:13:38 Oh for sure. I put that in the positive column about this movie? Like when Renfield is looking at bugs in his hand it's like magnified fly and spider maybe but it's like stop motion they're really really great. Yeah it felt like the movie was trying to feel like a silent film on some level like with all the wipes and all the tiny stuff and then it was also trying to be a hammer film the entire time like the 70s hammer overly saturated color under everything and lots of boobies. Yeah. th. th. th. the th. Yeah. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the th. th. Yeah. th. th. Yeah. th. Yeah. th. Yeah. th. I'm. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the entire time, like the 70s Hammer, overly saturated color under everything and lots of boobies. Yeah, and it kind of makes sense, like, there's a lot of nods to silent film as soon as Dracula gets to London later in the movie, like, they keep talking about the movies and the wonder
Starting point is 00:14:19 of the world. Do you think like movie guys just can't give up on that shit? They just have 70s movie guys? Yeah, they cannot. Yeah. It's true. They just want to talk about what they, I'm really into. You guys into this too? Because I'm really into this movie thing.
Starting point is 00:14:35 Yeah. Look who do it. Look what we're making. I wonder the movie at all and adds like 20 minutes to an already 500 hour long movie. It is hefty this one. I watched it in two to be honest. Where did you split it? It was right when here wait let me check my nose I can tell you I can tell you the exact scene oh it was the scene where she's doing the I I try try try try to to the I to the I to th th I the I th th th th the I th th th th th th th the I'm th th I'm th I'm th I'm th I'm th I'm th I'm th I'm th I'm thi I'm the the the the to the the the the to be the to be the the to be the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the at I the at I try I try try try try try try the an the an tea thea thea thea thea the an the and the you, I can tell you the exact scene. Oh, it was the scene where she's doing the I try to be good, I'm bad while she's littering. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:08 She's like, yeah, you're back, you're littering. Just tossing paper into the ocean. Yeah, don't fucking litter. Yeah. Um, another thing I the miniature train ride. Something like picks him up and places him? It just like gently places him and back. I love all the long arms. Yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:15:30 I love the lady with the line for the dead travel fast, which is like in the book and in Nosferatu and all that. But the lady that like sticks her head out that just has like a chain chain chain chain chain chain chain chain chain chain chain chain chain chain chain chain chain chain chain chain chain chain chain chain chain chain chain chain chain chain chain mail veil on. Yeah. What she doing? Made of coins? Maybe? I don't know. Very bizarre. Oh, is that in Bayudipest, as Peterus says every time? Beautipest? Budapest?
Starting point is 00:15:54 I was wondering, am I saying it wrong? Or is he? I'm pretty sure. Kianiann said it wrong? I'm just like, why's bogus. Mina, I'm going to Budapest. It's Budapest, a Bayutepest, Budapest, Budapest, I'm going to walk away from you, a Bayutipest. Does anyone want to try his British accent?
Starting point is 00:16:16 No. No. Yeah, because he didn't. He didn't, he didn't, he does. He does it for like his first scene and then he's like and then I think later on like he's trying to be angry in British but he just gets more and more proper and like he just he just can't get really angry he's just fancy. I feel like everybody's accent is pretty weird like Winona Ryder's doing a bad job at an accent too. Awful. Yeah awful. Yeah. I love though when she gets her vampire teeth and it's like that kind of lispy weird accent.
Starting point is 00:16:48 It's really cute. Oh, and Anthony Hopkins German accent. He just keeps going, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I think I have a note that's just yeah, Van Helsing. He's such an asshole. When he freaks out, when he gets so excited because he's a vampire, and just yells, A bitch of the devil, a whore of darkness, the devil's concubine.
Starting point is 00:17:12 He's just like, I've got all these locked and loaded, I'm ready to go. I finally met one. How many ways can I slay shame this vampire? He also definitely slips into Hannibal Lecture for a minute there when he's sniffing Mina. I was like, oh, you forgot what movie you were in. You forgot where you were a weird guy. I don't know, maybe, maybe it's because I know that they've both played the role, but every time he did a voiceover, I was like, is this Mad's Mickleson?
Starting point is 00:17:40 Oh, he's kind of doing Mad's Mickelson's accent. Yeah. Do you like how Dracula's palms were hairy? Chronic masturbator. Like you do too much? That's a nice touch. That's from the book, baby. It is. Is it I remember that. It says, I remember.
Starting point is 00:17:54 That I remember. Which just make, and Gary Oldman not able to hold anything. Hea. Just the sha the sha the sha the sha. Ga. Ga. Ga. Ga. Ga. Ga. Ga. Ga. Ga. Ga. Ga. Ga. Ga. Ga. Ga. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that th. that that that. that. that. that. that. that. Yeah. Yeah. that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. to. Yeah. to. Yeah. Yeah. to. Yeah. Yeah. to. Yeah. to. Yeah. to. Yeah. to. Yeah. Yeah. to. to. to. Yeah. Yeah. to. to. to. to. to. the. to. to. to. to. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. touch. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. hold on, I'm gonna shave you now. Just, just give me that razor. Don't let people shave you. The shaving sound is so good. Transylvania's ways or not your ways. Your way should our guest. I would now like to talk about the vampire lady room that he goes to.
Starting point is 00:18:21 Yeah, that's cool. It's amazing. And who lays down on a bed that's covered in fog? Well, I mean, there's a voice telling him, lay down Jonathan. Do what you do what the voice tells you. Yeah, whatever it says. So one of the vampire ladies is an Italian actress named Monica Belucci, who I think is the most beautiful woman in the world. And like it's insane to like it's insane. It's like, like, like, like, like, the the that, that, that's like, the that's like, that's that's the that's that's the that's that's that's their, their, th. their, th. th. that's that's that's that's that's thi, their th. th. that's that's that's th. th. th. their thi, their thi, thi, thi, thi, th. There, th. th, th. There, th. There, their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their thi, thi, thi, the is theeeeat, thean, thean, thean, thea. thea. thea. there's thea thea thea, the is the she just comes up and then that other lady bites his wiener. Yeah you definitely get his wiener bit right? They show his heart on his pants and then he goes yeah I felt unnecessary I assumed he had a boner you know it's true it's like well there's there's so much heavy breathing
Starting point is 00:18:58 because of the Victorian atmosphere anyway like you know you know you had to make sure you knew yeah I mean this movie is I would say I would the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the th. I'd th. th. I'm th. th. I'm th. th. I'm th. their. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the th. the the the the the the the the the the th. th. the the th. the th. I was. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the. I th. th. I you know. They had to make sure you knew. Yeah. I mean, this movie is, I would say, like 80% heavy breathing. Yeah. But I loved in that, in the vampire lady room, the bed mechanism that pushed one of them up next to him. And it's clearly like somebody built this platform underneath that then rises, and it's so good. Yeah, it's one of those moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments moments for the practical effects. You're like, oh, I can see right through how this is working, but it's really cool to see. So he isn't supposed to sneak around the castle,
Starting point is 00:19:29 and he does, and he finds the vampire lady room, gets his dick bit. Immediately. Immediately. I mean, because in the book, he's there for like a month before he finds that's after the scene where like vampire, or vampire, Dracula leaves his room and then goes and like crawls around on the wall outside the castle and she's kind of like, fuck you, look what I'm doing, dog. Is that that really long red train? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:55 Yeah. I can't imagine like just him walking around the castle in that train. No. Just knocking shit over. Yeah, like how do you get that that that that the that the the that that the that that that the that that that that the that that that that that the that that that that that that that that that the that the that that that that that that that. I that. I they. I that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, the, th. I that's, that's, that's, that. I that. I that. I that. I, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the the the the th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I the. I the. I ta. I'm, ta. ta. tria. tria. tria. tha. tria. tha. tha. tha. tha.'s doing his hair? Yeah. Like how do you get to that hair do? Like what's the... I wanted to see the steps? Like a YouTube tutorial on how to do this. Yep. Because it's not just those buns. There's like some curly stuff in the hatch. There's like a braided rat tail. Yeah. It's disgusting. I would assume it would just be one big dreadlocked by now because he probably just did it once and left it in. Do you think maybe like his shadow that's acting separately from him is doing his hair?
Starting point is 00:20:28 Like, you know, taking care of things? Or maybe it goes, hey, hang out with the vampire sex ladies and they do it. Yeah, they have nothing else to do. I can't, I can't, I, just eat babies and that's it. I hadn't considered how cool it would be to have a shadow, the shadow, the shadow, the shadow, to be to be, tha, to be, th, tha, th, th, th, tha, tha, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, to to to to to to to to to, to, to, to, to, to, to, thi.. ta. ta. ta. ta. Like, ta. ta. ta. ta, t just do half, you know what I mean? You could do half the stuff and get as much done. Like it would help you with the dishes or like, it's a pretty good idea. I have stolen the separate shadow for Call of Gatholoo games. Yeah, that's good. Like when it like turns, it just starts like miming, choking him at one point.
Starting point is 00:21:00 Like Dracula comes in and bust up the dick biting party.. Like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the, the, the, th...... th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the the the vampire, the one jumps onto the ceiling, and the other two stand up and their one body? Yeah. And then they're like separate again later? Oh, I thought they were like, humping? Like scissering? Like scissoring? But they had become like one, one creature at that point.
Starting point is 00:21:22 Yeah, they were like crab walking around. Right, I'll look at that hand too. I loved all of those like weird creepy movements where it was like. Filmed in reverse. Yeah. Or just, they're not filmed in reverse and you can't film. You can film. You can film. But like Lucy going back into her coffin.
Starting point is 00:21:41 Oh yeah. I love that so much. And just then just like pukes blood into Van Helsing's face, like just a big fuck you. Yeah. He doesn't even wipe it off. He just starts yelling around with the blood all over his face. He's just so happy about him. Yeah, he's like, oh my god, I got sprayed by a vampire. We're here. We're here.
Starting point is 00:21:57 It's really happening. moaning long enough to shoot blood into his mouth. Yeah. So much moaning in this movie. Yep. A lot of moaning and panting. Yeah. Speaking of I have the note this is now she's dressed like a lobster because she puts on that to get a red cloak to get a I think that you mentioned with the flowing to get to get boned down by that were were. Was she up in that in the middle of the night. She's like, oh, Jesus Christ, mother. You don't sleep with a metal boning in either. What are you thinking? I gotta get out there and have a werewolf sex in the garden.
Starting point is 00:22:35 I guess the wolfman does have nards. That's a gross scene. That's a very grossressed by that. Yeah, he's a really gross looking, or a werewolf, too. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. I like it when he tells Willemine and Murray not to see him. Yeah. And it's just that one half-second flash of Gary Oldham's face.
Starting point is 00:22:59 Really cool. Missy has a story about a friend of hers. Their little kid was still in diapers, but a little bit older, maybe like training pants or whatever. And when he would poop, he would demand that everyone leave the room and just yell, no see me. Oh. So watching that scene was like, ah, were wolf man pooping.
Starting point is 00:23:17 No see me. Don't see me. It's true though. He was kind that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that's that, that's that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, th. tho, tho, thi. tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. the. the. tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. too. th. th. true though. He was kind of squatting. It also that part of the movie also has a thing that I really love which is newspaper headline exposition where it's like, foo, pfoo, foo, shit missing, foo, wolf missing. Yeah, all right. Tell me the story through headlines. I felt like every time there was some, like there was text on the screen it was just telling you something that you already knew like yeah it's just confirming it Mina's like dear diary and it says mina's diary on the bottom yeah okay got it cool I loved her typing technique just like that just like that just like
Starting point is 00:23:54 the the the pecking for it she's pretty good type her she's a pretty good type her she's also kind of xenophobic right she's the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the is is is is is is is is the the to is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is is a the the the the the the the the the the the the the the t. the the t. the the the the the t. the the the t. the t. the the the the the the t. the te. the te. t her. She's also kind of xenophobic right like because when he starts talking to her just asking her for directions she's like, I can't fuck yourself. Come on Nina, what are you doing? Willemina Murray. What is her accent? Yeah. I do like when he when he drops the papers in front of her and it's just like a vampire meat cute. She's like ooh didn't see you there and it works. And it it into it what is she doing with the the the the th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th the the the thi thi thi thi to there. And it works. She was into it. What is she doing with her life? Like, yeah. So this is where it really deviates from. Oh yeah. Yeah. We can talk about that. Like, okay so I guess, for spoilers or whatever. Winona Ryder is playing his like lost love who has killed herself. So are we to believe that she knows him from long ago because she's the same person? There are some scenes where she does and then she's like no wait, hold on I'm Mina.
Starting point is 00:24:53 Yeah. We're not the same. Yeah. I assumed it was just like a reincarnation sort of deal where like the memories come back through the time. blah, blah, blah, blah, some fucking bullshit. I just got really mad at her, you know? Yeah. Oh yeah, she's very annoying. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:11 And from that aspect, like, yeah. And what is she doing with her? Like, doesn't she work? She's like, I'm a school mistress. I do not see her work. She's just prancing about what? I don't know. I don't know. She said she was a teacher at some point. Oh yeah, Lucy doesn't mind that she's a teacher. Yeah, which is so noble of Lucy. They don't seem like very good friends. No. Oh, would you be friends with Lucy with Lucy? No. She's like, she's like, oh Lucy really? Really? And you're like, the baby? No, Lucy, come on.
Starting point is 00:25:45 Drop the baby. Oh, no, I didn't mean really, drop the baby. She drops that baby. It makes such a sound, too. I feel like Lucy might be what you were describing Lindsay Lohan as in the, uh, I know who killed me episode. Like, that friend that you're like, oh, I probably shouldn't hang out with her, but it's going to be real fun, I do. Yeah, that's true. She's going to definitely sexually innuendo everyone in this room right now. The scene where she's taking the Cowboy's knife and just so like just fucking Francis
Starting point is 00:26:13 Ford Koval like, ha, ha, he's just such a letch. I like that he also, the cowboy then spends the rest of the scene holding the knife. He's not sure what to do. I don't know what to do with this now. He's such a useless character both in the book and in this movie. Was he in there just to die? I think so. They were like, we need to kill someone who's like not that lovable. Do they need like, you don't need a third guy. Like, they're the makes much sense. Seems exotic, maybe. To Francis Fork, go ahead. He was like, oh, Texas.
Starting point is 00:26:48 Texas forever. And he is also, is the victim of the biggest blooper in the movie? What's that? Which is when Dr. Seward sits on his hat, when Dr. Seward sits down in the film, the Texan's wearing his hat. And t, and t, and t, and t, and t, and t, and t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, the t, t, t, their, t, t, t, te, t, t, t, thex, t, thex, t, t, t, t, t, Texas, Texas, t, Texas, Texas, t, Texas, t, t, Texas, t, t, t, t, Texas, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, tex, tex, tex, tex, tex, tex, tx, tx, txxxxxxxxxxxxi-s, is texi-s, is texxxi-s, is texxxi-s, is texs, is thexxxxi-s, is t from under his butt. Oh weird I didn't notice that. That's really funny. Yeah. They were just like well we have to leave that in that's important. Like the movies only gonna be two and a half hours if we cut that I saw online that it was two hours and thirty five minutes but my version was two hours in a seven so I'm. I don't know if I miss I the the the the the the the internet. I the internet. I the internet. I the internet. I the internet. I the internet. I the internet. I the internet. I the internet. I the internet. I'm the internet. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. the th. the th. I'm. I'm. I. I. I. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. No, I don't think so. So the internet was just lying.
Starting point is 00:27:28 Maybe they just counted the Annie Lennox song at the end. Four times. Four times. Twenty eight minutes long, any lenic song. The epic reprees. Yep. They play the video at the end. Can I ask some questions about? the the the the the the the the the the the the that. the the the the the that. the the the the the internet. the the internet. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the. the. the. Yeah. Yeah. the. Yeah. the. the. the. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. wizard? Like he can summon the wins and stuff. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That doesn't seem right, does it? It's a good power. I mean, yeah. I guess like, if you're inventing Dracula, you can, you just toss it all in there, right? Well, also, like, I think like the, what Dracula became, even by like, Bell Lagiola, like he's a pretty neutered character like he just he'll bite you and you'll die or he'll bite you and you'll become a vampire and it doesn't really like work on like because yeah in the book he can do all that stuff he becomes but also as like a being he's just
Starting point is 00:28:17 kind of old and decrepit in the book like yeah he never is the sexy, insanely far back hair lines of Dracula. But like, so yeah, I think that I like the wizard Dracula who becomes the werewolf and the bat and the pile of rats and. The pile of rats was great. Yeah, rat man. Because he like withdraws and his eyes are glowing with them rats. Yeah. Yeah. It's a good one. Do you have other Dracula questions? Um, not at the moment. I'll get back to you.. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. to to to to to to to th to th th th th th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I I I th. I I th. I I I I th. I I I I I I I th. I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I th. I th. Yeah. I th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I th. Yeah, I th. Yeah, I th. Yeah, I th. Yeah, I th. Yeah, I th. Yeah, I th. Yeah, I th. I Um, do you have other Dracula questions? Um, not at the moment. I'll get back to you. Do you have to drink from his nipple?
Starting point is 00:28:51 And then he's a tiny nipple, it was too. It was weird, like, that wasn't a scratch and then blood. It was just like, all right, now we're going to wait 30 seconds. Oh, yeah, then some blood's to to to to about it too where he's like I can't do this to you and she's like but I love you she literally says you killed Lucy you murdered Lucy I love you. Quirk your jets me you know I also take me away from all of this death but like you didn't experience any one person died you weren't even there you left
Starting point is 00:29:21 you left you left to go marry a Keanu. Yeah I feel like they forget they forget they forget th th th they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they the the the to to to to to to their to their their their their their their their their to their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their the the the the the the the the the the the the to the their the their their their the their their their You left to go marry Keanu. Yeah, I feel like they forget about him for most of the news. Oh, yeah, he's in he's in the vampire lady room and then he gets out. How is he sending letters from there? It's a good question. From the vampire lady room. Oh, I don't know. I also like how Van Helsing refers to it as his infidelity with the vampire ladies in front of Mina she's like uh huh it wasn't really I mean I guess maybe it's cheating I don't know but it doesn't seem intentional she wasn't doing a great job you know no one was being faithful in this movie maybe he just like kept voluntarily going back to get his weir bit like you know you know you you know you could leave right you can go home? Yeah, yeah. What's the sound? Oh, God, no, they've got me trapped.
Starting point is 00:30:06 Weenna Ryder, Gary Oldman's scene is like the worst sex scene I've ever seen. Yeah. I'm so much moaning and panting for people who are like fully clothed. So I thought I hated this movie, and it turned out I just hated all of that. Their whole plot, like everything that was added that's not from the book, I hated. For the most part. Although I love the wolf, the wolf in the movie theater scene. Really good. The same around the dome or whatever.
Starting point is 00:30:36 Yeah. It just seems like all anybody cares about is making out. Like even when Mina and Van Helsing are, they separate from the group, and she goes to like, she's going all crazy and she goes to make all them, he's into it. Like, you should know better and like, I don't know, everybody's in making him. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:30:55 I don't know. I don't know. Lucy keeps the doctor. Oh, yeah. Yeah. And like the doctor is such a bad doctor. Oh yeah, he's sticked to morphine. He's all hopped up on the morphine. Can we talk about how he's the guy that I thought was Brian from Wings from Warlock? But he looks nothing like Brian from Wings in this movie. No, once he loses his mullet, it's just the wingsiness it goes out of him.
Starting point is 00:31:17 Yeah, I was disappointed in myself. Everyone else. He took the entire world down with you. Well, everyone in this movie anyway. Mostly Keanu. Yeah, I was very disappointed in him. I feel like Van Helsing is the only one who's like really having fun. Like Anthony Hopkins is having a great time. Yeah, everyone else just wants to go home. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:38 I think Carrie Elwis is having a good time. Oh yeah, we didn't even talk to talk to talk to talk to talk to talk to talk to talk to talk to talk to talk to talk to talk to talk to talk to talk to talk to talk to talk to talk to to to to to to to the to to the the to to to the to the the the to to be to to the to to the to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to be to to to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the tho. thi thi thi thi. thi. thi. thi. thia. thia. the the thia. the thia. thia. thia. thia. thia. thia. thia., we didn't even talk about Carrie Oldman's probably having a fine time. Probably. I feel like Gary Oldman is just like, I'm gonna act the fuck out of this movie and everyone else is like, I mean I'm trying to keep up with you and Anthony Hopkins is like, fuck that! Just losing his mind. Gary Oldman is so fucking good in this movie. Yeah, no? That's fine. I think it was like at the height, like, like, like, like, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. the th. G's th. G's thi's the the thi. Ghe's thi. Ghe's thi. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. I'm the th. I'm the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm going th. I'm going th. I'm going th. I'm going th. thick. toooooooo ty. ty. thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thi. I'm th. I think it was like at the height of his he never looks like the same person twice in a movie hours. Yeah, what is that? How does he do that? I don't know. Yeah, I mean from like Sid vicious to Dracula to... And those were all within like a couple years, right? Like it probably yeah, like between 10 years I think. Yeah, but yeah, pretty crazy. But like the whole Mina and Van Helsing when she's like instantly seduces him, like he'd just been waiting for this to happen. Yeah, I'm saying. He's so unprofessional.
Starting point is 00:32:33 He brought him here as a guest doctor. He's like, I'm just here to cut off heads and stab people. I have a note that just says inappropriate funeral talk. Because at Lucy's funeral he's, he's like, like, like, like, th, like, th, like, th, like, like, like, th, like, like, th, th, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the, the, the, the, thi thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, he he's he he's he's he's he's he's he's he's thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, like, like, like, like, that just says inappropriate funeral talk because at Lucy's funeral he's just like oh did you bring your autopsy equipment? Yeah. They're like literally looking at her body through the glass coffin in a very small room and he's like just standing outside the room like, oh well cut her head off their head off, cut her head off the tuce tuce. I love all of his inappropriate talked. like he's like he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he. He th is tho. He's tho. He's tho. He's tho. He's tho. He's tho. He's tho. He's tho. tho. took. Cut took. Cut tho. Cut tho-up. Cut tho-up. Cut tho-up. Cuttook. Cuttook th. Cut tho-upupup is tho-upupup is tho-up is tho-up is tho-up is tho-up is tho-up is tho-up is tho-up is tho-up is tho-up is tho-up is tho-up tooks took took took took took took took took took took took took took took took took took took took took like did she suffer? Yeah yes she suffered I cut off her head and stab her in the
Starting point is 00:33:06 heart yes she suffered of course she suffered she's like dude. Such an asshut but you know a doctor yeah yeah yeah I guess I like that whole the whole scene at the mausoleum was like beginning to end of that that scene yeah and there was great I feel like I have a lot of notes about this movie, but they're all just like, what is it? What is this? What is it? What is happening? I feel like it's a good thing that they did so many practical effects because all of the impractical effects, should we say, look terrible. Like the blue fire, and the blue fire, and the blue fire and things look, th is th is th is th is th is th is th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th this this this thus thi. this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this th is th is th is th is th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah the and the blue fire it's just Mina shouts and like blue blue things shoot into the sky. I don't know and it happens at the beginning. Yeah there's like blue fire it's like part of the
Starting point is 00:33:55 security system. Yeah. Okay. Castle Dracula. Yeah. Yeah. It's real dumb. Like summons the wolves. They murder horse. They do murder horse. It's a bum. I say that's real mad. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the. Like summons the wolves. They murder horse. They do murder horse. It's a bum. Oh no, I said that much. Real mad about it too. Yeah. Like, he's like, tomorrow morning, I'm gonna kill you all for murdering my horse. Yeah. I feel like it was just for the horse too. Yeah. And you were like, yeah.
Starting point is 00:34:19 I did right down. I'm the the the next. thea. thea. tom. tom. tom. tom. to. to. tom. tom. tom. to. tom. tom. tom. tom. tom. tom. tom. tom. tom. tomorrow. took. Yeah. toea. toea. toea. Yeah, toea. Yeah, toe. Yeah, toe. Yeah, toe. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, t. Yeah, t. Yeah, t. Yeah, t. Yeah, t. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah it coming. I'm just like looking at my notes and I just wrote down some of my least favorite lines. Like she's a river filled with tears of sadness. And then it turned out the river is called Princess. I just wrote like this is the worst writing. This is where I'm out. This is why I hate this movie. It's interesting to take such a well-written book and just be like, I need to put my own garbage into it. Like, what they are saying isn't good enough?
Starting point is 00:34:51 What if I put a romance novel on top of this? That's it. I've heard people argue that it's a terribly written book. I didn't disagree. Yeah. What do you guys? You're the book guys. I mean, it's written in all letters and like clippings. So like it's not telling a story like straight ahead, which I think works pretty well for it. Like you get like the pretty much the newspaper on the screen. Like the, oh, this ship came in, and here's the ship's log of all these deaths.
Starting point is 00:35:21 And it says different voices too, which I think is good for the, certainly good for the time. And I thought I had read at some point that it was, because it's pretty verbose, there's like a lot of writing to say very little, and I think I'd heard that he was being paid by the word at the time that it was like being published. I think I heard that. Sort of like a moby-dick, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. thi. th. thi. thi, it, it's Moby Dick because he's like, oh yeah, you'll just pay me more if I give you more so they'll keep you on yeah. Jokes on Melville that like they never paid him for Moby Dick. Really? I didn't know that. Well, I mean he just made like no money. He was a, he was a, what's some kind of clerk? Yeah. Yeah. And he died before it gained any popularity right. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, and he died. He he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. He th. Yeah. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th th. He th th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. read though. It's a hard read. John's favorite book? Really? Yeah. Oh, nice. I like the, when Dracula in the sea crossing, when he's in the dirt and he's in the like ambionic
Starting point is 00:36:13 sack and just like squishing around in it. So creepy. Yeah. I like all the gross stuff in this movie. There is a lot of it. Yeah. I did like that whole like the whole arrival scene where it's that and then it's all the animals in the London Zoo going insane. Yeah. Like that was all really good. They showed you the sign that said London Zoo like three or four times. To be sure that you knew. Are you sure it's a zoo? Where that will escape from? Theat? The-Tah. The-Tahs. The. The. The. The. The. The. The. The. The. The. The. The. The. The. The. The. The. The. The. The. The. The. The. The. The. The. The. The. The that was that was that was that was th. The. The that was like that was like that was like that was like that was like that was like the the that was the the the the that was the that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the same was the same was the same was the same. the same the same the same the same the same the same th. th. the same th. th. the same th. the same th. th. th. that that that the same and then they showed the scene a bunch of time? So I understood, that I understood. All right, so you wanted to talk about the's just like, oh, okay, he's dead now.
Starting point is 00:37:08 And then she just looks at the ceiling and it's like, oh, there we are. Like, what happens? What does she do now? Does she just go back and say, like, okay, Jonathan, let's go have a baby and like live a normal life? Yeah, his hair's back to being black, so. Yeah, it is, right. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. that's? Okay. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's, okay, that's, okay, okay. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. he. he. he. he. he. th. he. th. he. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. th. he. he's, okay, okay, okay, he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he in the book, but... Yeah, his hair's back to being black, so... Yeah, it is, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:27 It is, okay. Does them, did it like, like, the mark on her forehead? Like, the gray just is like, pssss? Yeah. I ain't skeer no more. It's gone. That's how trauma works, right? about like our work here our work here is done but hers is just beginning but it literally takes for like another what 15 and a half seconds to be done with it also your work's not done at all like you did a bad job
Starting point is 00:37:50 yeah he didn't do anything no well he stabbed him no I thought I thou the Texan stabbed him oh I thought it was with the big the big knife somewhere else I don't know. There are a lot of people around. Oh, does he stab him? Oh, he thought he does leave it in his heart, but I don't remember. Maybe Jonathan just opens the throat. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:38:14 Does he slash his throat slash? Yeah, he gets his throat slash. They all do it. Everybody together holds the knife. I do love how Dracula just bursts out of the box. Just like in a gold cape and just like, just wait for that sun to go down so he could burst out of that box. He just looks like a climped painting like popping up out of a box. I think like not that scene but another scene where he pops out of a box. Like the voiceover is saying something about like how he's weaker at, you know, when the sun is up and then he just like bursts out of this box. Oh yeah, that's the first time you see him like young. And I have a note that's just like, woke up like this.
Starting point is 00:38:59 When Jonathan Harker sees him young, he goes, oh, it's the man himself. He's grown young. I mean, I'm British. Fucking Keanu Reeves. I just feel like, there had to have been some kind of nepotism there, right? Like, why else would Keanu Reeves be cast in that role? I mean, this is a movie full of competent actors. And they were like, and Kiann'a reefs. He he the argument, he the argument, he the argument, he the argument, the argument, the argument for beautiful people getting whatever they want, right? Like,
Starting point is 00:39:25 Tell you the thing. But he's also in so much great stuff. Like what? Point break? No. Wrong. Go ahead. today's excellent adventure.
Starting point is 00:39:36 Okay. Sure. Give the, the river's edge. John Wick is fucking amazing. What about the Matrix? How do you feel about the Matrix? I really like the first The Matrix movie. That's an action movie? It is an action movie. Okay.
Starting point is 00:39:50 That's an action movie that so many people come to me and go, do you want to talk about like the philosophical ramifications of this movie? And I goes, no, because this is what people talk about when they're high. Like, this is, I can't do this sober. What if we're all like batteries for a machine? Cool, what if cats spell dog? Like, what are we gonna do? What if it did, though? Whoa.
Starting point is 00:40:12 What if you were on a bus that couldn't go less than 50 miles an hour? That's an action movie. I've never seen speed. Oh, it's a cool. Sandra Bullock is so delightful in it, in my opinion. The second one being on a boat that doesn't go fast. They couldn't get, it's a called Cruise. That is the subtitle too, yes. They couldn't get, they couldn't get Keanu Reeves. He was like, I'm not doing that.
Starting point is 00:40:34 So they got the older brother from the Lost Boys to be in it. Oh yeah, what's his name? Jason? Jason. Jason. Patrick? Yes. Yes. Jason. I was thinking Robert Patrick. I always think a Jason Statham but that would be a completely different movie. Yeah. That's an action movie probably too. Just a task. He's an action day. The living embodiment of an action film. All right, do we want to move on to the ratings phase? Is there anything we miss that anybody wants to discuss? I have to show you this. These are my notes. I have so many notes. It is a seven hour epic. Do you know if during the wedding scene they're speaking a real language or just gibberish? I think it's a real language. Okay, it's Romanian. Okay, we're just wondering because like you hear the word, you hear Mina and the rest of it's like, ah, this might, this is, this might be nonsense. This is, this is, the the the the the the th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. These are, th. th. These are, th. These are, th. These are, th. These are th. These are th. These are th. These are th. These are th. These are th. These are their their, their. These are, their. These are, their. their. their. their. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the Romanian. Okay. We're just wondering because like you hear the word you hear Mina and the rest of it's like Ah, this might this might be nonsense. It was subtitled speaking Romanian so I but I want to believe the best in that.
Starting point is 00:41:33 I want to believe the best in that. I have this theory that all the weird shit in this movie is like like the guys in their head like it's all based in some sort of reality like the people that work to the asylum did all that so I'm gonna assume they went ahead and found like real like Orthodox real Romanian Orthodox. All right do you want to move on to the ratings face? Yeah I mean I'm British don't forget. All right do you want to go first Katie? Oh sure um this was really long it was really hard to get through and I feel like the the high the high the high the high the high the high the high the high the high the high the high the high the high the high the high the high the high the high the high the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they to they to they to to to to to to to they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. th. th. the. to the. to they're to they. they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're to go first, Katie? Oh, sure. This was really long. It was really hard to get through. And I feel like the high points are really punctuated by the low points. So I'm going to give it a solid five. It's just the highs cancel all the lows and the lows cancel all the highs.
Starting point is 00:42:15 It's like, there's so much good in it. And then there's also that just so many so so so so so that just so many so many so many so that just so many so many so many so many so many that just so many so many so many so many so many so many so many so many so many so many so many so many terrible upsetting sex scenes and sucking of nipples and getting your dick bit and I just like, yeah, five. Allison? I really enjoy this movie for all of its insanity. I think it's beautiful. I love the colors, I love the practical effects, the weird, creepy movements. I'm kind of always rooting for Mina to end up with Dracula. Really?
Starting point is 00:42:51 I mean, the alternate is Keanu Reeves. Yeah, but you know, she made a promise to Keanu Reeves. Before God. Yeah. I'm going to go with an eight. Wow. I'm gonna go with an eight. Whoa! All right, so when we were talking about pitching this movie to you guys as a thing to do, we're like, oh, it'll be cool because I hate it
Starting point is 00:43:13 and Allison, Allison loves it. But I actually enjoyed it more on this viewing of it. Not an eight, for sure. But there was a lot more I liked this time around. But like, she's a river filled with tears of sadness with a line in it. So I think I'd probably, I'd probably end up around a six. You're acting like you never wrote poetry when you were in junior high. I had the good sense to set that on fire.
Starting point is 00:43:40 You threw it into the ocean, which I thought was so shitty. Mine's in a yearbook somewhere. I'm like one of my poems kind of a yearbook. I would really enjoy reading this. I would not. No, as well you shouldn't. I would give this movie a nine. What? Wow. I love watching this garbage movie. Like it makes me so happy the entire time. And I'm like, I'm spending the first hour to half
Starting point is 00:44:06 getting so excited about Anthony Hopkins losing his mind. And then Monica Volucci, and then a boner gets bit and I go, ah, ha ha ha. It's like, it's, it's clicking all my boxes. And make me a little dances. Yeah, your boxes are weird though. I do have b bone b b b b b b b b b b bone th. It th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. Yeah, your boxes are weird though to be fair. I do have weird boxes Bones getting bitten. It's hilarious. It's actually on every rubric for every movie. Every movie. It took me like it was like three times watching it but I was like oh shit that's his dick. Oh shit she's been his dick like I didn't even notice it the first couple times I saw this movie boy oh boy oh boy oh boy oh brother. And I won't yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. th. the th. th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thee. the. the. the. the. the the. the the. the. the. the. the. Starting point is 00:44:45 you need to. I wonder if he got a boner in there. It's like, well, just put it in the movie. Probably. I thought it was maybe like a, um, engorgeed with blood thing. They were like, blood source. Yeah, exactly. Oh, it makes the most to the right and saw the the Gary Oldman. Oh yeah the magnet. Yeah he's been with us the whole time. Oh man.
