Is that a joke? Around the same time as like it follows was blowing up this movie was like doing really well on the the the f......... It.. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. This movie was like doing really well on the fist circuits. I do not understand. Yeah, I can see, the first time I tried to watch it, I shut it off because I was so bored.

Yeah. And that's kind of why I chose it, because I was like, I think it might be good time talking about shitty movies. Sure. I mean, this movie does a lot of lingering shots on nothing. On houses. On trees, on snow, on cars, on mapping. Some stuff it does really well.

It does some really good jumpsares in it. I got the goosebumps at one point. Okay, okay. This is a movie about Barbara Cramton and her husband, Paul. So they're I think Annie and Paul and they have recently lost their son. And so they moved to a house in the country. Yeah, in New England. Oh, like a lot of fucking movie is. Oh, this movie is not reinventing the wheel. Yeah. It's just made a little bit more wobbly.

Yeah, like, I feel like the elevator pitch for this movie was like, what if we took the trope of a couple losing their child and then moving out into the middle of nowhere and into a haunted house, but we took it super seriously. Uh, and thin, which is, not that she looks rough, it's that there's something that kind of irritates me about, and I'm not sure how, if I'm going to say this correctly or if I'm going to just sound like an asshole, modern movies being set in the 70s and looking that way, I feel like it's a very hipster thing to do, but it never quite works, Like Lisa Marie's fate, like they don't make college and lips like that in the 70s. Like, she looks super modern, she looks super contemporary. So does the girlfriend of the other son that shows up later.

She doesn't look the 70s. Even her outfit isn't. They're like, here, this is made of polyester, this will thu. Sure. It kept it really limited. It's just some people look really now.

Yes. And you can't do any, I don't know. It's like when you see, like, just something has changed. Yeah, it's set in the 70s. And, uh, there's a great Dodge Dart in this movie, which I was real stoked on. They're ridiculous little cars. The decor and the house is also very good, I will say. And the wush hole makes noises and Barbara Crampton goes down to investigate the wush hole.

Which is just like a room in the middle of the basement that's got a hole in it that that that goes down there, he's like, what's behind that wall? And the guy, Paul is like, probably nothing. And the electrician's like, okay, dude, you've got a fucking flashlight. You're an electrician. Shine it in the hole. Was this the same realtor that was in the conjuring? That was just like, oh yeah, that's just like the basement. Don't this. And he even says they had an inspection because they're talking about the boiler. Nobody looked in that hole. I mean what is in that hole? We don't even we never find out what's in the

hole really. Wushing. It's a whooshing. Maybe it's invisible. Maybe it's invisible. I guess wishing. I was watching it as I do was like oh it's a whoosh and hole. But this is the first time we get a shadow scare of Barbara Cram to like looking behind or like something and like the camera moving and there being like a shadow person behind him. Kip you the willies. It's okay. And then the electrician's down there and he sees a shadow person. He also is super modern looking yeah I just whatever and whatever and it's a great scene. I th. I guess. But I also was just like, why is he not screaming? Because he has to walk into what is, turns out the biggest basement on earth. And then there's an ash person sitting in the corner, and you would think that that would burn off on your ashy body. No, you got to say if it's a woman because it has long hair. So like around Halloween I saw a picture on the internet of a knockoff Beetlejuice costume and it was called Juice Demon which I think about probably almost every day. It doesn't the guy kind of look like, oh! Yep, that's the one. But so, and throughout this movie, I kept being like, smoke demon. I just made a lot of jokes about people needing. I just made a lot of jokes about people needing. they were ashy. I thought they looked cool though with like their white eyes and they're ad, no, I'm wrong. I thought they looked like butthole. I thought they looked like ashy, ashy, butthole.

This movie just also shows you the people right away. It's like, I don't know, why are they ashy? We don't find out, do we ever find, it doesn't matter. Yeah, they were burnt alive. The entire family was burnt not? The town every 30 years has to sacrifice a family to the house,

because when they were building the house for the original Dagmar family, they dug something up in the woods. Oh right, because it goes to another trope of like basically burial grounds. Right. Right, right. Or like a love crafty and like monster that was in the ground. All right. So, which I was like, okay, but it wasn't handled well. You know what I mean? The entire last 10 minutes of the movie, I was just like, come on.

And they kind of use that, there's a great scene in House of the Devil. So the babysitter pulls over to light a cigarette up and a guy comes up and knocks on the window and says, are you the babysitter? And she says no and he blows her head off. And you're just like, oh, this is a different movie now. Right. Shit just got real. Right. show up at this bar and shoot the server woman that works there for no fucking reason. But it's never, it's never really explained why they shoot her either. She seems to be a part of the town. It never raises the stakes. No, no, it never raises the stakes, you're right. The stakes are also not raised by the arrival of May and Jacob's son and his girlfriend. No. Because you don't give a shit when they die. And like, they make no sense. Like they're driving there. And the premise is that May is kind of like a spiritualist.

And so they're hippies. And they have been invited there by Ann and Paul to sort of feel out the house because they think their son Bobby is in it. Bobby who has has they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they're they're they're they th they they thi. It's my baby niece's name. So they're driving there and she's like, what happened to Bobby anyway? Lady, how do you not know what happened to your boyfriend's room? Two months ago, he died in a crash. Like, first of all, Harry's not upset about it really. He's like, oh yeah, flatbed took him out. This happened 60 fucking days ago. And she didn't know. Like, I just found it so inexplicable.

That reminds me of years and years ago. My car broke down on the side of the road driving home from DC to get to Delaware. Well, you know, like an hour and a half, two hour drive. So as they're talking, she's like, so do you work a lot. So maybe it was that kind of situation. I don't know what their relationship was. I did not pry at all. I just... It's a long trip. It was a long trip of me not talking.

Wow. So you do this a lot? But in that case, why bring her for the weekend? I don't know. You know, new lady friend? Really weird. Really new lady friend. Really weird. Really weird.

It was. As much as Lisa Marie doesn't look like this time period, Larry Fezenden looks like the fucking 70s, incarnate. He cannot look like anything else, I don't think. Also, God, he dies in everything. We just watched a terrible movie at Ladies Nightmare. So like you can run up the stairs or you can run out the front door, like,

you can grab a weapon or you can hide. Like you can try to run this way or run that way. I don't know. It's really fun and I really liked it. Is it a modern video game?
