Yeah. Is this what passed for entertainment? I have so many questions about that because it's like, so baby Jane is like, I don't know, six, seven, doing this baby Jane act where she's singing that song and she's got these little curls and a frilly dress, and the audience is packed with adults. Losing their minds. It's like full until tomorrow's matinee or whatever, like kid stars were that big?

I mean, Shirley Temple was huge. But... Granted, that was a little bit later. Yeah, but also, she was huge. Yeah, I guess so. Like, doing movies with, you know, Fred Astaire or whatever. Oh man, God bless television. And that doll they're selling afterwards. There's the one shot of her with the doll, like head to head. Yeah. That doll they're selling for $3.25, which I did an inflation calculation on, it's like $65 in today's money. That makes sense. Yeah, it's huge. It's huge doll. And it was entirely posable, too.

So then we go a little further into the future to 1934 and or 35.

What else? And now we see that Blanche and Jane both have acting careers. And the studio goes, like, she's got a southern accent, like I've got a southern accent. And I was like, oh, that sounds like something we would say. But he's like, I'm from New York. She's got a southern accent like I've got a southern accent. I like that guy. Which is neat is that this movie stars Betty Davis and Joan Crawford, who were doing movies. Yeah. Betty Davis is... M-Dah-Daw- Joan Crawford is subtle, Betty Davis is, Meryl, so. Joan Crawford is chewing the scenery when, like, she need not. That's how I feel. So, Betty Davis basically just pretends it's the Betty Davis show. It does not mention Joan Crawford in any of like, the interviews leading up to this. And as you can imagine, this infuriate Joan Crawford, who, so when they're doing the Oscars, she talks to all of the women

who are nominated for best actress who aren't going to be there and it's like, hey, can I accept for you? Can I accept for you? Which is, which is like, so big as dick? Yeah. But I was like, I'm kind of into it because I was like, you know, that's old-timey dickness. It is. So, somebody else wins and they're not there and Bairncroft. And John Crawford accepts for and is totally shitty and awesome and it must have been just like the most uncomfortable thing.

Yeah, I love it. Also, Rob uses wire hangars in his closet and he's never seen mommy dearest and I'm always yelling at him like, no wire hangars ever. And he just looks at me like he doesn't understand what I'm saying. How is he not seeing Mommy Dearest? How was he using wire hangers? I don't know. I don't know. They sell the plastic ones at Target. You just buy them. Yeah. Although the spit guards that we have are made with wired colors. Oh yeah. Eppah!

God, John Crawford. What a monster. Although the woman who plays the daughter next door in this movie is Betty Davis's daughter. Oh really? And she also wrote a memoir saying that Betty Davis was an asshole. I'm sure. Yeah, whatever. I mean, I'm sure all those people were.

I'm sure everyone who is in movies is an asshole, right? We're all like, oh, Tom Hanks, he's so nice. No, he's not. He probably is. I thought that Colin Hanks didn't get along with him. Yeah, but I know some, Tom Hanks is nice. Everybody likes Tom Hanks. Maybe Colin Hanks should write him a letter. To Daddy? Come to Daddy.

Sh-Die. The studio executives in 1935 are like, you know, Jane is shit and we're so bum that Blanche put in her contract that for every Blanche movie, there's got to be a Jane movie. So there's a big party going on, it Blanches. We see Blanche's car being driven up to a gate, someone gets out of the car and then the car rushesthen the car rushes for it towards the gate. Yeah you see you see a woman's hand like put it into gear and then hit the person in the gate.

Right which we are assuming is Jane hitting Blanche. Yeah. And as you can tell that may or may not be the truth. Right. You won't find out for another two hours though, so hold your horses. So then we skip ahead to yesterday, which I liked. It wasn't present day, it was yesterday. Yeah. Which is 1962, Los Angeles and Blanche's chair-bound. the wail-chai. the wheelchair bound?

Thank you. She's not going anywhere, but shebound, thank you. She's a severed her spine and an accident. She's not going anywhere, but she's still wearing that cat eye. Makeup. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. She's dressed to the nines every day. Hair done up, the fuck. And Jane is keeping her locked up in the house.

Yeah, they're like living order alcohol at one point in this movie it says, and I don't know these, this is six bottles of scotch. It's six cases. I thought so. Maybe she said bottles. Like I can't even remember to see some curse words. Yeah. So we go to the neighbor's house, which I just found out is Betty Davis's daughter. The daughter of the neighbor, the younger woman, yeah. And she's watching a Blanche, Blanche Hudson movie. And mom comes in, she's like, oh, I love this movie. And they start talk about the fact that they're neighbors with the Hudson sisters. And a little point of set dressing, they have a Margaret Keane painting on the wall, which is the big eyes woman, the Tim Burton movie. Oh, okay. It's like the little kid with the huge eyes holding. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. And it's just, it's fun to see how ubiquitous those paintings were that they made it into this movie. Totally. I also like that this is an era where you can't just see a movie anytime you

want. Like they're showing all of Blanche's movies on TV. Yeah, that the ti. And everyone seems to be really excited about it. Yeah. And it's like, oh, that was. that. Oh, oh, oh, that. That was. For some reason she just goes, help me? She also is like really impatient with that buzzer. Like, what if James pooping? You know what I mean? She's super impatient with it. She's got to have the whiskey shiots at this point.

And there's someone she trying to. There's like this really weird upbeat music playing. Do you remember that? It was like almost like... I thought it was that the daughter was inside listening to loud music. Oh, maybe that's what it is. Okay, maybe. Because it was like kids music for 1962. Oh, well, that explains where we see the bird.

And I, that in my mind was at the end of the movie that was like at the climax. No, it's in like our one. Blanche has a bird that she really loves that lives in her room with her, the one room that Planch lives in. I feel like I would refuse to be kept upstairs if I was in a wheelchair. I'd be like, no. and just murders the bird. Yeah, she comes back, she's like, it flew out the window. And then it's sorry. Instead, she serves it to her sister on like a under a cloche like for lunch. Well on a bed of tomatoes. Yeah, the one she serves with a dead rat. It's on a bed of tomatoes too. And I was like, did you slice all those chain?

That's a waste. A little pepper and salt, those things are gonna be delicious. Not any more. You put a rat on the whole time? Or is it just like when we come in yesterday? It must have been because Blanche is trying to get Jane into a hospital. We learned from her conversation with Elvira, or at least under a doctor's care while Blanche moves out.

And yeah, and she's selling the house because they're running low on money because neither of them, although Blanche is having a resurgence, because television. Yeah, she's definitely getting monthly checks, we learned at the bank later, so. Because all of her movies are popular again. Yeah. Of course, Jane is jealous because she wants to be popular. Because she made movies the same time and they're not. Blanche is terrified to eat now. Yeah, so she basically starves her out. Yeah. And meanwhile, Jane is trying to have a resurgence of her career by hiring Edwin, a pianist, who the scene with him and his mother are like perfect. They're so great. She's so great. And he shows up to interview for this job and he like does a British accent. He's like, he must have noticed I'm British.

Imagine interviewing for a job with a fake accent. You could never let it go. Instead his mom's British though, right? She's sort of cockney, but he does not have a British accent. He's British-esque. Yeah, I can't have a... Yes. Uh, wasn't there a... There was like an MBR story about a guy who pretended to be like an African foreign exchange student,

even though he was from like Milwaukee? What? Really? Really? an African foreign exchange student even though he was from like Milwaukee and like went to college and had to keep up this bullshit. That's crazy. Yeah, yeah, yeah. What a horrible way to live. Yeah, I know. Well, at first he was like, this is funny. Oh God, it's not funny anymore.

It's not funny anymore. It's like a bad Craigslist meet up when they get to get together though, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, their. And he's immediately like, oh God, she's fucking terrible. There's so many daddy issues in that room, though. You can see that they're almost like drawn together, you know? Yeah, he's looking because his mom can't work, so there's no income in his house. So he's looking her to Jane as a cash cow. Yeah. And she's got money.

She's trying to spend to spend spend spend spend to spend to spend to spend the to spend, yeah. We find out later that she's forging checks. Yeah.
