And we're going to try to do our best to talk about what I'm going to run out of the fucking gate say is an amazing movie. Yeah. And you guys should go see this. We're gonna spoil this. We're talking about Get Out the Jordan Peel movie from 2017, right now, in the theaters. So if you haven't seen the movie yet, hang it up. Yeah.

We were actually just talking about, like, well, we're going to talk about this movie. And so was everyone else, which is awesome. Yeah, the James Baldwin documentary, which was amazing and brutal, and it's like, do you know anything about this?

I haven't seen it, but I know of it. Yeah, it's him talking about his, the death of three of his friends, Malcolm Bax Martin Luther King and Medgar Evers. And it's just like, it's destructive. And it's amazing. And so I feel like, I, th, th, to get out after seeing that movie and just feel like, let's talk about race in America. Yeah, all right. So this is the horror of micro-aggressions, right?

Like that's- I think it's the horror of macro aggressions, really. Well, at least the first half of this movie, I talked to a few friends, and I talked to my friend Joseph, who is a person of color who's in a relationship with a white lady. And he said they were watching this movie and for the first half hour that is going, holy shit, holy shit, holy shit. Holy shit. I've done all the shit's happened.

Has he been in other stuff? I didn't recognize him.

He's a British actor. And he's been in some British, he was in an episode of Black Mirror. I haven't seen that. Yeah but there's an episode They're dealing with race relations with American soldiers and like FOIL is like totally on point and not racist and was like pushing this like super liberal agenda and I'm like I don't know you're a six year old man in England in 1945. I don't think so. Living in like a village a suicide village you are definitely a racist. I want to believe the best in FOIL but no. Chris is going to meet Rose, his girlfriend's parents, who's played by Allison Williams, who people know from girls. I haven't seen that either. I don't like that Lena Dunham, I gotta say.

I've never seen it, I just don't care for her also like super intense to spend a weekend with your girlfriend of five months Yeah, I'd be like we could have dinner maybe lunch is faster I'm not going for a weekend. Yeah, yeah pretty intense and we meet Especially if you don't drive and they drove you there like no way. So they live in New York City and Chris is a photographer and those photos are great. They were really really interesting but they're going out to the country to where Allison's parents

lives, the armatages. And we meet Rod Wrodney who is played by Lull Rell Howery. He's a shining star in this movie. So fucking good. Everyone needs a friend like this. Yeah. So we find out when Chris and Rose get to her parents' house

Of course I love working here. And just like, ugh. And then he says something about how Rose is just the greatest thing ever sweet, you know, like in a way that almost seems like,

Chris and Georgina have this weird interaction where he's talking to her and She's got this smile on her face and they're interacting and she just starts crying while smiling. Yeah, and it's really upsetting This is when he realizes she's been unplugging his cell phone right. Oh and she goes to apologize to him because Allison has complaint or Rose has complained. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. And wow, yeah, it's fucking intense. This whole movie is fucking intense, start to finish, really. Like we didn't even talk about the deer scene and the cop scene. I don't even know if we need to, but it's like just super intense, constant intensity. So the party gets going, and all these like older white people are there.

They all look like they line of black cars too. Yeah. They all look like they're in the Secret Service. It's all like black cars and black SUVs. Why don't these people drive like Priuses or whatever? It seems like that's what those people would drive. I guess it's supposed to say, well, I think it's supposed't even occur to me. So, because I'm classist, I don't know, whatever. Or just poor.

The party is just this string of microaggressions of like the white people coming up to Chris and being like, oh, he's really strong. Yeah, that one woman just squeezes his bice. Oh, we forgot to mention that when Chris, or when Rose's dad is taking Chris around the house, he's like, oh, that's my dad. He ran against Jesse Owens in the 36 Olympics. Yeah, you're with him all the way. He's had this huge trauma and like you're just on board. If you weren't already on board by the shitty stuff that's been happening to him car that has an accident and the cops like, let me see your ID. And Rose is like, you don't need to see his ID. What is she doing? She's upstairs. He sees her through the window or that just comes downstairs. And she's standing at the door, like looking in the reflection. She's looking at the reflection. She's looking at her reflection. Because the lights on behind her so she can't, she sees the reflection. Yeah, and she's like just messing with her hair a lot. And then also Walter just like, oh, this is all very fucked up. And they're, but like it's, yeah, yeah, because they're not interacting with him at all. It's like they don't see him. Which is weird, I couldn't figure out why that was later.

which is really neat. I like the way that that all kind of wrapped itself back together. Sure. And then this is when we meet Stephen Root who is Jim Hudson the blind art dealer. Yeah. And he's reel into Chris's photos. He says that he's heard that he's got a really great talent, he's got a good eye. His assistant describes them to him so he knows what they look like. And he keeps saying how good of an eye he has. Yeah. Which should have cued me into something but it didn't at the time. At the time I just thought this is a thing about his own blindness and like his own sadness and having he never had the eye and now he really doesn't have eyes like because he says that he's a failed photographer and then he lost his vision so I didn't yeah well how could how how were we to know? Chris and Rose eventually leave the party to go and talk after well before that we mean Andre

And he's there with his wife who is like a middle-to- middle-aged white lady. Yeah. And he talks like he's reading a script I guess. Yeah really robotic and really odd. And just like it's a weird demeanor. He's got a weird like oh well. Because Chris goes up to him and says hey it's good to see another person of color here.

And it's also still pushing everything along. Yeah.

You know that you're there's no like it's relieving the tension but not getting out of the story. Yeah. You're staying you're it's pushing it along. So Chris is able to pull some stuffing out of a chair sticking in his ears and when they try to hypnotize him again, it doesn't work. So he... Well, we see the dad, we see Dean in an operating room and he has Jim in there, and he's like cutting off the top of his head. Meanwhile, the brother comes in and unstraps Chris from the chair. Chris is pretending to be asleep because of the tea cup thing.
