Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey Katie, you want to follow me down to the basement? Yes, I guess? Yeah, just watch your head. Yeah. Yeah. And, uh, you know, just pick out anything you want. Oh, how about this hill razor? You're sure you don't want the Nightmare Doll? Oh, the Nightmare Doll is nice. How about this conch shell? Why do you have all the shit? Because we are wherewolf ambulance ambulance. I'm Alan. I'm Katie. And we are doing an episode on cabin in the woods. Yeah dude. So I want you to pick how you're gonna die. No is that not how this was supposed to go?
Starting point is 00:00:46 No, no. I like the idea of setting up something like that with them Cryptocurium stuff though where it's like, oh you pick up this old pizza, you eat yourself to death, like the guy from seven. You know what took about? I do that as a movie. that's the guy in the bed. I haven't seen the movie in a long time. Maybe we could do that as a movie.
Starting point is 00:01:05 Is that a horror movie? That's a horror movie? It's scary. It's a silence, little lambs is a horror movie. That's definitely a harown. Yeah, all right, maybe you'll think about it. All right, so we're going to title where letters should be rendering it unpronounceable. Thank you, 13 guests.
Starting point is 00:01:26 God, that fucking movie. But tonight we're here to not talk about a fucking movie, but a fucking amazing movie. Spoiler alert. I think everybody knows we referenced this movie constant. I think it's almost replaced the thing in the movie that we talked about the most. It's true. You haven't you you you you you you you you you you haven't you you haven't you you haven't you you haven't you you haven't you haven't you haven't you haven't you haven't you haven't you haven't you haven't you haven't you haven't you have you you have you you you you you you have you haven't you haven't you have you you you you you you you you you you you you have you you have you you have you have you have you have you have you have you have you have you have you have you have you have you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you have you have you have you have you have you have that that that that that that that th talked that that that that that tha that tha to have to have talked to have to have to have to have to have to tal about about to tal about about about about tha tha tha tha tha tha tha tha tha tha in a while. Did you give up on it? Oh boy. Oh no. Boy, howdy. I think ever since I decided that it'll be the last movie that we do on the podcast. Oh, did you decide that?
Starting point is 00:01:52 I did. I thought it was going to be Captain Ron. I thought we had decided that. I think you're right. I've just like pushed it out of my mind, like I've just like, I've just like, I've just like, I've just like, I've just like, I've just like, I've just like, I've just like, I've just like, I've just like, I've just like, I've just like, I've just like, I've just like, I've just like, I've just like, I've just like, I've just like, I've just like, like, like, like, I've just like, I've just like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, I've just like, I've just like, it out of my mind like, can't think about that movie right now. Oh, because if you think about it, we'll die. Like a basement of Thing memorabilia? This is getting very confusing. You die.
Starting point is 00:02:13 Kurt Russell comes and you die. Right? No. That's what happens if you pick up the Captain Ron DVD. We're in an eye patch. I had a conversation with a former guest Amanda of the Pitt episode today. Thank you for that. Are you thanking me or her? I think about the sexuality of Kurt Russell and Captain Ron so it's on my mind. Yeah I mean he's just a just a virile human being. Beefcake. But we're not here to we are here to talk about beef cakes but not Kurt Russell. Yeah this one's got Channing Tatum or the other Channing Tatum. There. There. There. There. There. There. There. There. There. There. There. There. There. There's. There's. There's. Starting point is 00:02:46 Or the other Channing Tatum. There's two of them, right? Chris Hemsworth. Chris Hemsworth. Is he? the also Channing Tatemahm. Have you ever seen them in the same room? No. But I'd much rather watch a Clipurlion, t. Is he? What is he? Australian. Yeah. What is he? At the beginning of the movie he says nice,
Starting point is 00:03:06 but there's definitely a lot of exorcillal noise! It's also got Jesse Williams. Oh, he's so hunky. Yeah. And even a friend Kranz ain't nothing to sneeze at. No. He's like all of my college friends, basically. Sitting on the floor playing caps, you know. Fun game. You guys have seen this movie right? Yeah, we're gonna spoil it's th. th. th. the the the the the the there there there there there there there there there there there there there there there there there there there there there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's like there's like there's like there's like there's like there's there's there's there's there's. there's. there's. there's. there's. there's. there's. there's there's there's. there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. thi. th. the. th. the. the the. thi. the there's the there's there's there's there's there's there's there's the floor playing caps, you know. Fun game. You guys have seen this movie, right? Yeah, we're going to spoil it if not, but like, it's 2012. That's five years ago. Yeah. This was at the time, I said, this is my favorite movie I've seen in a really, really long time, and I still don't think I've seen anything I've liked more than this. Oh wow. Spoiler the to th. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. Perfect. I think it's perfect. I mean, I'm really jumping right to the ratings face. So hopefully we can be funny. Because normally when we like things, it's a little harder. It's true. Listen to Event Horizon to see what it's like when we don't like things. Even though I did like that thing. Yeah, you really, you're all over the place with that one. You let your feelings get their th your feelings your feelings th your feelings th. th your feelings th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, the, the, the, the, the, the, that, that, that, that, that, that, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi thi, thi thi thi th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thin. thi. So, thi. So, thi. So, to to to to to to to the. So, to to to the. So, the. the. So, the. the. the. So, the way. I get a real love-hate relationship with that movie. It's clear. So can you do you want to try and synopsize this or just go
Starting point is 00:04:07 through it or how do you want to do this John? That's a Philly turn for a thing John. I thought you were calling me John like how do you want to do this John and I was like dude it's episode difference between the name Don and what happens in the morning? I don't. Don and Don. Like what is the difference? Say them to me. Say them to me?
Starting point is 00:04:32 No. No. No, I love this thing about Pittsburghers. Let's do it again. Don. Don. Which one is the... See them closer together. Don?
Starting point is 00:04:47 Dawn. Okay, when you say them like that, I sort of hear a difference, but I don't know I could, that I could make it with my mouth. It's like being tone deaf, but for words. You're Don deaf. Don, wait, wait, let me say it and you tell me which one I'm saying. Don. You are saying the gentleman's name. Dawn. You are saying the gentleman's name in a really weird Pittsburgh accent. Don? How do you say the morning?
Starting point is 00:05:11 Dawn. Dawn. I don't understand. Maybe people can't hear because it's the most Pittsburgh thing you could say. Dawn. So I says to him. I say, Dawn, I'm a high school graduate. I know what I'm talking about. Oh, man, this is good. Yeah, it's good comedy for Cabin in the Woods. And all these people who listen, who are not from Pittsburgh and have no contact with
Starting point is 00:05:36 Pittsburgh and think we're fucking idiots. It reminds me of the Delaware accent, would people go home? Go ham? I like that because it's th th th th th th th th th th that, it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's like th th th th th th like th. I's th like thi th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th. I I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I's th. I's th. I's th. I's th. I's th. I's th. I's thi thi. I's thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I to to thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiia. I'm thoooooooooooooooo. I like that. I like that because it's like you don't move your mouth. You just aren't gonna do it. My friend Adrian, also friend of the podcast has... Hey Adrian. Hello, Adrian. She's in Richmond, Virginia, but she has a great Delaware accent and I love, it's like, it's like a warm accent blanket for me. She's like I gotta go home and I'm like, you gotta get him? Take Dawn with you. Dawn. That was the, that was the morning. Dawn.
Starting point is 00:06:12 That's the guy. Don. That's the guy? Don. That's the guy. Fuck! All right, let's move on. Let's move on.
Starting point is 00:06:21 Say as I'm done. This is our second appearance of Bradley Whitford recently. God damn, he's a treasure. So funny, what a treasure. Him and Richard Jenkins are fucking amazing in this movie. Great chemistry. One of the only jump scares in this movie that really got me was the title sequence where Bradley Woodford's like, are you even listening to me and then it's like boom the title comes up I love that you want to come over to this weekend I'm gonna get some screw guns and liberate my cabinets
Starting point is 00:06:47 screw guns you even listening to me right now drills it's a true guy screw machines that's the one yeah yeah and it's like the title pops up and there's a woman screaming yeah yeah so this was a movie made by Joss Whedon? Friend of the Podcast, Joss Whedon. Is he your friend of the pun? No, why the way? She seems like a cool guy to hang out with. Cool guy.
Starting point is 00:07:10 I wish we had his support. Anybody know Joss Whiden? they, get kind of the hot shit. Isn't everybody doing comic book movies now? And I think those are the only movies they're making right now. The last three movies I've seen in the theater, I've seen a trailer for the New Guardians of the Galaxy in front of it.
Starting point is 00:07:36 Oh yeah. It's a different trailer each too. Yeah. Because those trailers not sure. And it's been in front of Get Out. Oh yeah. Yeah. He was in front of Split, which is again film Van Nye Chomelon. Okay, yeah. And in front of Kong, Skull Island. Oh, did you see Kong? Fucking fantastic. Really? Loved it? I'm a bit of a Kong. I'm a bit of a a conn't enthusiast. Who is it? He doesn't love a giant ape. to. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the thi. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. I? I? I th. I? I th. I th. I thi. I thi. I thi. I'm tole. tole. tole. tole. tole. tole. tole. the. the. He's so sympathetic. I was worried they wouldn't get sympathetic Kong. Oh, all right. Better than the Peter Jackson King Kong? Yes. Okay, because that was kind of a garbage show. It was kind of a garbage show. It was kind of a garbage show. It was kind of a took a little. It was a took a little. It's a lot of it. It's a the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. the the the th. th. th. th. It's just going to the island. And Samuel Jackson is in it and John Goodman is in it. Yeah. And Tom Hiddleston is in it, looking buff as fuck. Who I always would have called Timothy Midditch, but that is not his name. No, but it could be. Just a very British name. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, it's great. I loved it. Yeah, I definitely saw a trailer for Guardians of the Gine movie, the last one that Huge Jackman is doing.
Starting point is 00:08:46 I don't understand any of these movies. It's fucking fantastic. Maybe I should listen to your other podcast. Maybe you should. We should do an episode on Logan. Oh, I'll catch up. I think that's the first time I've ever mentioned my other podcast on here. Maybe you shouldn't say the name. It's called Marveling at Marvel's Marvels. We've been doing it for like a year. Yeah, congratulations.
Starting point is 00:09:05 Thanks. Awesome. Dawn. The morning. Okay. I'm working on it. So we're following two separate storylines in this movie. One is of Richard Jenkins and Bradley Woodford.
Starting point is 00:09:21 And they are two, I don don't know office droney type guys like bureaucratic administrative guys right and driving a golf cart around a large facility which is always just like such a great way to indicate like duchbaginess and they're so delightfully snarky with each other they're so mean I fucking love it so much and with everybody else too include they get the new security guy and they're like kind of giving him a hard time they're giving a girl the girl the girl the girl the girl the girl the girl the girl the girl the girl the girl the girl the girl the girl the girl the girl the girl the girl the girl the girl the girl the girl the girl the girl the girl the girl the girl administrative. the girl administrative. the girl administrative. the the girl. the the girl administrative. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. the. the. the the. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the with everybody else too, including they get the new security guy and they're like kind of giving him a hard time, they're giving the girl from the chem department a hard time.
Starting point is 00:09:50 Yeah. They give old Mordikai a hard time. So apparently one of the basis for this like military stuff where they're building nuclear weapons. Because people aren't meant to live in the desert and you all shouldn't be living out there. Sorry for. And if you're doing that you're doing evil science shit out there. I think so. But he so his thing was like these people have these really awful jobs but they're mundane and that's what he wanted to communicate through those characters. They're like just dudes go into to to their to their to their their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. th. their. th. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. And thi. And thi. And thi. And thi. And thi. And thi. And th. And th. And, th. And, their their their their their. And, their. And, their. And, their. And, their. And, their. And, their. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, they. And, they. And, th. And, they. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, They're like, just dudes go into their office jobs, but doing the worst thing imaginable. Yeah. And the first time you see this movie,
Starting point is 00:10:28 it's very unclear what's going on. It's very ambiguous as to what their job actually is. But you know they have something to do with like setting up these kids who are going to a cabin in Evil Dead references in this, like angry molesting tree. Or is that from Army of D- regardless? Yeah, it's from the franchise. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:49 Love that. Yeah. Yeah. I can't wait to talk about the board. So we meet our tee, college teens. Teens, teens. Dana is dancing in her underpants. So I had the note underpants dance. The nicest thing anyone has said to me probably in my whole life was that I looked like this actress, or this actress looked like me or-
Starting point is 00:11:09 I can see that a little bit, yeah. I was like, no, and then I was like, tel me more. And her roommate, Jules. And we meet Kurt, who's the Hamsworth. Channing Tadam. They look exactly the same. They both do have that fist with abs. And it's a face like this. Which you guys saw, right?
Starting point is 00:11:36 Like they just ate lemons? Yeah. Oh, by the way, I watched that, Christopher, guess maybe with the fist with abs is a mascot? Oh, yeah, it was pretty good. Yeah, they they they they they they they they they abs is a mascot. Oh yeah. It was pretty good. Yeah, I would recommend. Did they rip us off? Yeah, they totally ripped us off. They totally ripped us off.
Starting point is 00:11:47 But it's that hunky Irish guy from bridesmaids, so I'll let it go let it pass. Oh, I do love him. Have you ever watched the pilot? And then I was like, this is very this very very this is very very this is very very this teens, our college teens, are Marty played by Fran Kranz. Love that name. Fran Kranz. And Holden played by Jesse Williams. Yeah. Who's just a hunky gentleman who is very politically active. Is he? I don't know anything about him really. He did a, I think it was BT Award speech where he just like called out Racist America. It's pretty great. He and they are all going to the cab to a cabin in the woods in their
Starting point is 00:12:27 RV. Where the fuck did they get that RV from? It's Channing Tatum's dad's he says yeah. And as they're driving away there's a guy on the roof. Yeah right and he says something like the eagles have left the nest or something and you're like ooh what is this. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. the the the the the the. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the. the. the. the. the. Yeah. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. Yeah. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. I. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the eagles have left the nest or something and you're like, ooh, what is this? Yeah. Intrigue. Oh, we have to mention Marty's Bong. Yeah, they make those. You can buy those. $5,000. No shit. There's like a prototype. Well, at least that's what I was reading that on the internet. There's like a prototype that was five grand. But it collapses into in handy later. Yeah, and it's very strong as well as we see later. Stainless steel, apparently. I do like the line where, so Dana has a drawing of this professor guy that she's in love with,
Starting point is 00:13:12 and Jules runs up and goes, you saw that drawing of Professor Fuckwad. It's like, that's a really weird name. I feel like I really liked all the acting in this this the exception of Jules I feel like she was the weak link. Oh really? Yeah, I feel like it was just over the top But I guess you're supposed to Not realize it at the time, but they've given her like drugs through her hair dye That have made her stupider, so I guess maybe that's all part of it. Which is like a football playing jockey dude but then is like oh you should read this book. This book about the Russian structures of like no one I'm sorry that guy does not exist. He
Starting point is 00:13:52 doesn't. He's always in movies he's not real. That's why he's always in movies he's aspirational. Yeah. Also would these kids know that anti-drug campaign that they reference? No they're children. I like am in in my th. their th. their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their. their their their their their their their their. I's their. I their. I's their. I's their. I's their. I's their. I's their. I's their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their trueusususus. to. true. true. true. true. true. th. their th. their their their their their their their their their their drug campaign that they reference. No, they're children. I like am in my 30s and I barely remember it. I remember it just vaguely. Yeah, it would have been like at the tail end of your cognizance. They don't know that. I'm always weirded out, like when I watched Supernatural and they're always like, oh, the 70s rock song. That wasn't even your dad was listening to Motley Crew. What are you talking about? It's true.
Starting point is 00:14:26 We follow them, they meet the Harbinger, which every one of these movies needs a Harbinger. He's so good. Oh, God damn, he's amazing. Mordikai. Mortikai. Morty, baby. He's just got that one bloodshot eye that just love when he spits on the $20 that Crips Hemsworth like throws on his chest. Yeah, it is good. So they go to his gas station and they're trying to get gas and Chris Hemsworth is like, I don't think these take credit cards and yeah Marty says I don't think they know about money it's barter gas. Like there's just all these like little one linener th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the best th. th. th. th. the best th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. theck. th. their theck. their their their their their their their their th. th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's their their their their th. It's th. th. It's th. th. th. It's th. tob. tobe. tobe. tobe. tobe. tobe. tobe. tobe. tob. tob. tob. tob. tobe. tobacco. It's tobacco. It's know about money. It's barter gas.
Starting point is 00:15:05 Like, there's just all these like little one-liners that he has. He has the best lines in the movie. Yeah. He also has a line in the scene about the blue and the gray and the brother versus brother, which I liked a lot. You know damn well which war. This man's purpose, I guess is to basically try to warn to warn to warn to warn to warn to warn to warn to warn to warn the the the to warn the the the the the the the the the the their their their their their their their them away from the way that they're going, but they have to choose to ignore him, which we find out when he calls them later,
Starting point is 00:15:27 calls the office, calls him later. So I guess the basic overarching thing is that the people in this, the office thing that they're running with the Jenkins and Woodford, and they are setting up all the horror movie troops. And you are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are setting they are setting they are setting they are setting they are setting they are setting they are setting they are setting they are setting they are setting they are setting they are setting they are setting they are setting the horror movie troops. Right. And you have to, like, you have to follow horror movie logic. And it's basically saying like, horror movies are, like the ideas behind horror movies are these eternal things
Starting point is 00:15:51 that we've always had. Yeah. And they've have a purpose. And I like how after you've seen this movie more than once, it all like, the second time. Like I feel like the first time I saw it I was like what do they do? What are they setting up here? What's going on? Like what is all the stuff in the basement? And then after seeing it the next time I was like that's that and this goes with that and this goes with that and I like this and look at the harbinger like their alter the their alter the in the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their and then and then and then and then and their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their and their and their and their and their and their and their and their and their and their and their and their and their and their and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then and then their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their the the the the the their their their their their the And this is where we see the first thing that's really off kilter in the movie where there's an eagle that's flying around them while they're in the tunnel. And it hits an electric fence grid thing? The grid of invisible lasers? Yeah. And that's when you're like, oh, what? Oh, okay. There's something? And they come out on the other side of the grid through this tunnel. Right. Right. Right. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the, the, th. th. the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, their, their, their, their, their, their, their their their their their their their their their their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, the, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the the. the the the. the grid through this tunnel. So what is this? They get to the cabin, they do teen shit.
Starting point is 00:16:49 Yeah. They find a weird two-way mirror or one-way mirror? What's that called? It's a one-way mirror. That doesn't sound right. Yeah. They love what they're called. I'll look it up. I would give good money for the painting that's hanging over that mirror. I thought it first said it was them that a bunch of people killing a horse. Yeah, which I would have liked a lot better.
Starting point is 00:17:12 It's like a deer or something. Like a llama or something. It's a large, like a camel maybe? Yeah, I don't know. And then just like just a weird guy standing in silhouette in the background. Dressed completely differently than everyone else? What is that? I don't know, but it's creepy times. Yeah. And so there's this great scene where Holden sees Dana
Starting point is 00:17:34 through the one-way, two-way, three-way mirror. I already forgot to look it up. And she's undressing and she can't see him. And there's like a really funny scene of him, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, I, I, I, I, and thii, and thi, I, I, and thi, I, I, and thi, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, there's there's a there's a there's like a really funny scene of him like taking a little bit more time than I can't do this and letting her know. And then she watches him on dress. Then she puts the painting back up. Is it a little weird that he knew that this was a one-way mirror and still got undressed right in front of it knowing that she was in the room? Yes. Yes.
Starting point is 00:18:05 He was like, abs for days. He was apps for days. Yeah. That's, I was going to say that's Channing Tatum, but it's not in this movie. Are you sure? I think he might have done some of the moves. You're thinking of whatever that Mike movie is. Oh, I saw that movie too. It's barely a movie.
Starting point is 00:18:28 I'll tell you what. Friend of the podcast Josh Greggle is a huge fan of those movies. Josh, you're not. They're barely movies. They're just strung together scenes of like, Genuine Wine, I don't know. Wood watch, if that were the case. And when I said it, in my brain, I was like,
Starting point is 00:18:50 this sounds good, it's not good. Yeah, he's claimed that they're excellent male bonding, like, without being shitty movies. Maybe, that could be, but they're not good. What are they called Fantastic Mike? Magic. Magic, they called Fantastic Mike? Magic. Magic Mike. That's what it is. But like I'm sorry that I'm like not doing a very good job with this, but the guy that's in that movie is in this movie. Chris Hemsworth? No, Channing, Channing,
Starting point is 00:19:15 No. It doesn't matter. Anyway, while the teens are doing their teen things. It's cutting back to the office where we see all of the different departments that work in this office betting on something. They're throwing money into a pot and everybody's signing up on this big whiteboard. Right. The white board is listed with like, I don't know, 30 different monsters on it? All of which are... Would you like me to go through them? I would love to then? I would like me to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to go to comment a to go to comment a to comment a comment a comment a comment a comment a comment a comment a comment a comment a comment a comment a comment to comment to comment on a comment on probably comment on probably comment on probably to comment on probably to comment on probably comment on probably to comment on probably to go to go to go to comment on probably to to to comment on probably to to comment on probably to comment on probably to comment on probably to comment on probably to comment on probably to comment on a to comment on a to comment on a to comment on a to comment on a to comment on a to comment on comment on a to comment on a comment on a comment. to comment. I'm probably comment a to comment a to comment a to comment on a to comment on a to comment on probably most of them. All right Katie, here we go. From the upper left-hand corner. Wherewolf. Yeah, I like that were aloof. Alien Beast. Okay, cool. Mutants. See, I don't remember seeing mutants. Demolition did choose them so. Oh no, I think they were the things that are puking in the one guy's mouth. Okay. Great. Wraths. Yeah, the threes. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. the th. th. th. the th. th. the they. they. they. they. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I they. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I they. I they. I they. I don't the to something that I don't know what it is. I think of me one of the snakes that was flying around.
Starting point is 00:20:07 Okay. Clown. Yeah, the clown, by the way, is Pennywise. Oh, yeah, yeah. Witches. I didn't see, but they're also on this list. Sexy witches. Sexy witches. that. Demons. Hell Lord. Is that Hellraiser, I guess? It must be. He has a name that I have
Starting point is 00:20:28 in my notes that I would be. Oh good, good, good. I'd like to know more about him. Angrie molesting tree. Definitely evil dead. Giant snake. Deadites. Also evil dead. Yeah. Kevin. I wonder what that's supposed to be. Apparently it's a nod to Elijah Wood's character in Sin City. What? It was this like very normal looking dude who's a psychopath murderer. I like to imagine how this movie would have been different if they'd picked Kevin. Just like a guy shows up and he's like, hey. I guess it would be like that movie creep pretty much. Did you see that?
Starting point is 00:20:59 No? Should I? Yeah. Yes and no. Uh, mummy? I didn't see mummy. No, the bride. Didn't see bride.
Starting point is 00:21:09 Scarecrow or the scarecrow folk. They were great. See, when I watched us, I was like, oh, this is so many movies we've done. Yeah. I remember when we did scare crows. We didn't. I looked back through every episode. We wea. We th. We did. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. the. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. toeea. toea. toea. toea. toea. toea. thea. ay and I was like, we did not do scaregrows. We can.
Starting point is 00:21:26 We can. We can. We've seen it. Dragon bat? Yeah, I liked the dragon. Vampire's, that's the Dragon. Uh, dismemberment goons. Dement thoen.
Starting point is 00:21:34 thooes, the Merman. The reanimated. I don't know. Do you think that's a reanimator reference? Maybe. Unicorn, who does show up and is amazing. Fucking horses man. Huron. What do you think that is? I'm telling a lake? Yeah. The biggest of the lakes, right? No, that's superior. I lied. They lump in Sasquatch, Windigo and Yetty. Yeah. Those are three distinct things. I could have a different category for it, but I get it. I get it.
Starting point is 00:22:09 The dolls, which I guess are the creepy, the strangers. Yeah. The doctors. I guess those were the guys that look like patients that were eating the people. OK. Congratulations, maintenance and Ronald the intern. Jack a lantern? Giant.
Starting point is 00:22:29 No. And twins. Twins? Did we see twins? I don't, I mean, I think they're all in there. Yeah. Which is probably a shining reference I had to guess. Yeah, I would guess.
Starting point is 00:22:39 That scene where, yeah, the murders start happening, they go to the basement, they choose what they're, like, so they could choose, they each pick up something different. So Chris Hemsworth picks up the Hellraiser ball. Yeah, it's definitely a puzzle box. He starts fucking with it. Come to a daddy. Why can't we ever stop talking about Hellraiser? It's the most important horror film. Thanks Jim Robinson.
Starting point is 00:23:05 And then Jules picks up like this wedding dress with a necklace on it. Yeah. I don't know what that's a reference to. No, I have the bride, I guess. Oh no, Hensworth gets the conk. He put, and then he puts it down and picks up the puzzle box. That's right. Because Holden turns on the ballerina music box and I was wondering why that wasn't enough to get the ballerina. Did they stop it before the song was done maybe? I don't know. Fran doesn't toucest toucest.
Starting point is 00:23:32 Farne that's the diary of Patience Buckner. He is avoiding all the stuff and just being like this dumb we should leave. Yeah and Dana starts to choose the diary and that's how the diary of Patience Buckner. And she reads of this Latin section which basically like again they had to choose to pick it up they had to choose to open it they had to choose to read it out loud. So then they have to die. Except there's a voice that says read it out loud. Oh right, right, right. Is it Sir Gorney weaver? I would assume so. I would think it thage think it th voiceovers in every movie now. Get out of here. He's done. Rob Zombie. I have the Latin if you'd like me to read it. Um, no, because I don't want to die. I have the English translation if you'd like me. No, go ahead. Give me that. I can't do the Latin. Give me the Latin. Give me the Delor, Supervivo caro, Delor, sublimus caro,
Starting point is 00:24:25 Delor, sublimus caro, d'oeur, igno, animus. Pain outlives the flesh, pain raises the flesh, pain ignites the spirit. I got that dual lingo, but only for Spanish. And this is where I had the note, is a fun evil dead homage because the evil book. The Buckner's rise from their grave. They're very scary and very good. Yeah. Also the effects for this were done by Heather Langacamp. Yes. That's crazy, right? Yeah. Yeah. Love her. I just got excited because I forgot that until just now but I'd known it before. I was like, ah, Langa Camp. Did your eyebrows went very high? Well that's because I've painted them on like Kim Novak. A reference all of our listeners are
Starting point is 00:25:14 sure to get. You guys like a nice timely Kim Novak reference. Man I don't call myself Papp for no reason. No, you definitely don't. Sir. So there's this great scene where the Buckner's get chosen and maintenance and Ronald the intern win their whatever they win. I don't know if it's money or just the... I think they won the pot, because we were putting money in. And we see Bradley Woodford and he's really sad. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:45 And Richard Jenkins comes up and goes, you know, there's always next year, man. I just want to see a Murman. Never gonna get to see a Murman. I love that. Spoiler, the mermen, he does. He does. He sees a Merman. Double spoiler, mermins, shoot blood out of their blowholes. So that scene in the movie is 10 seconds. Yeah. When they filmed it, it shot blood for nine minutes. What? Really?
Starting point is 00:26:08 Why? I don't know, they hooked it up to the biggest bucket of blood they had and just shot all the blood out of it. It's amazing because there's so much blood in this movie. It's just, it's like an obscene amount of blood. It doesn't look C-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-s, thah-s, thah-mccc-s, th. th-missuu. th-missuu. th. th. th. th. th. they're they're they're they're they're they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's like, they's like, th. th. th. th. th. th. th-s. th-s, th-s, th-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s. th-s. threa-s. theea-s. thea-s. thea-s. thea-s. theateat-s. they're they're-s. they're- CGI. It looks like they painted that room with blood. Yeah. Is this where Marty says we are not who we are or is that later? That's later. Okay because that's an X-Files reference I think. Oh is it? Yeah it's in the from the episode ice which is a thing reference. Fuck layers and layers. Yeah I mean I'm guessing Joss Whedon is an exiles fan. If he didn't write on it, yeah. Yeah. Oh, I don't think so.
Starting point is 00:26:49 No, I don't think so. No. Yeah, he's probably too young to have done that. Yeah. There is the, so we see that there are, the world, the their, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, tho, thi, thi, thi, thi, tho, tho, tho, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, that are doing the same ritual, basically, where they're trying to appease these ancient gods, which is what we learn. It's going on. The woman from the Kamlav is explaining to Truman the security guard kind of the ins and outs. And we see that Japan is doing nightmare long-haired child from the ring. I've thought like this, the Japanese scenario looks like a movie we would have to watch, you know. I love how, what is it? I think it's Brazil that's just a mountaintop on fire.
Starting point is 00:27:28 Yeah, yeah, and I think Buenos Aires has like a dead bigfoot. Yeah. Or dead King Kong kind of thing. Yeah. And then like, and someone's like, oh, Stockholm failed. So at least one group has to succeed in what they're doing. Right. Which is interesting, so it's not all resting on just the American version of, you know, there's the horror from around the world that's doing this. Yeah. Which I liked. And so we see, the next thing we see is in the cabin, they've mentioned that they're
Starting point is 00:28:00 ramping up the drugs. And Jules Jewewewewew jules they've they've they've they've they've they've they've they've they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. thi. the. the. the. the. th. the. the. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the up the drugs. And Jules is now, they're doing the truth of dare game, where Jules makes out with a wolf. Yeah. That's very odd. It's very gross. Apparently the tongue was coated in sugar, so it wouldn't be as gross for her to lick it. Very gross.
Starting point is 00:28:18 But I don't feel like that's much of an incentive, to be honest with you. I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I th, I th, I th, I thin, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't. that, I don't, and that, and that, and thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th, th, th. th. th. th. th. th. th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're theeananan. theaaugh, thi. thi. theeeea. thi. thi everything, but... And the tongue was removable so that they could wash it between takes. That's not making me feel better, I have to say. But I like when Marty's like, I dare you to go make out with that moose. Yeah. Whatever that mystery owl animal is on the wall. Marty is very much, like everybody hang out with in college. Just high as shit. And then we see Jules doing a sexy dance in front of the fireplace? Yep. And then she and Janning Datum leave, right? Thor. Thor. Yeah and he's like kind of like he's just the abusive frat boy now who just wants to fuck. Right. And they've slipped more into their roles except for Marty. Right, right. Even Dana's like, well, you know, I've never done this before when she's making out with
Starting point is 00:29:14 Holden. Then she's like, wait, yeah, I have. What am I talking about? Yeah. Oh yeah, I didn on glasses too. He's the scholar now. He puts on glasses, you know he's smart. And Marty's the fool because he's high all the time. Sure.
Starting point is 00:29:35 Oh, and Jules is the whore. Rolves. They waste no time driving that point home. No. So they go outside and this is where we meet the Buckner's. Right. Because they're murdering zombie rednecks. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:29:53 But there are zombie. Right. Right. The tad has a bear trap on a chain, which I don't think would be an effective weapon, but it's cool as shit. I mean it would would hit you, it'd be heavy, right? Would it clamp on your back and you'd be able to drag somebody? I mean, you'd have, no, because you'd have to have pressure to like, I mean, I don't know how bear traps work,
Starting point is 00:30:13 but it doesn't seem like that's how it would work. I love the dudes from the lab are hanging out and watching the screen and they're just like, yeah. And then Bradley Woodford's like your basic human needs disgust me, which I lulled at. Then there's the next Cee where she's unbuttoned her top and you see her breasts and the Bradley Woodford and Richard Jenkins are staring and then you see Truman the security guard like slide in the clipboard over his junk. It's like. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. they's they's they's they's they're just just just just just just just just just just just just they're they're just they're just they're they're they're they're they're just they're just they're just they're just they're their they're just they're just their they're just their their they're just they're just their their their they're just their they're they're their they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're their their their th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. Yeah. th. th. th. their th. th. they. they. they. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. holding the clipboard over his junk, just like, this is so good. Dudes are so gross. We're disgusting.
Starting point is 00:30:51 Monsters. That's what Kevin is. It's just a gross dude. It's just like, ah. It's just your brother's friend. Yeah. The one who steals your underwear and you know he's doing it. Oh, God.
Starting point is 00:31:06 Yeah. Apparently, there's like a, they basically say the ancient gods need to see the boobs. Yeah, we're not the only ones watching, they say. Okay. The first real violence we see is, Jules, her hand is in like this soft moss on the ground and it gets stabbed through it, which I love a great hand stabbing. Yeah. And the the the the the the the, the, the, the, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, they. And, they. Yeah, they. Yeah, tha, thaugh, tha, tha, tha, thaugh, tha, tha, tha, they.a, theya, their, their, their, their, their on the ground and it gets stabbed through it which I love a great hand stabbing yeah and then they cut her head off with like a yeah they bear trapper pull her backwards and then have a giant saw to cut her head a giant rusty saw what would that saw be used for tree yeah seems inefficient
Starting point is 00:31:37 it's one of the ones that has a handle on each side so two people can like it like pull it back and forth it to, hot. Hot, hot. Okay, just making sure. They could be Sam Neal Fit and pull the things. I use that to meet a lot of things. Hot, hot, hot. Oh, I just forget to mention when they were reading the diary earlier, Dana reads the line, husband bulge. Yeah, like got a husband bulge. It's like, oh, that's a good line.
Starting point is 00:32:09 It's a good line. So the next, like, basically, I don't know, half hour of the movie is the running from the Buckner's, Buckner's attacking them. But it's being manipulated by the people in the office where they are locking them in their rooms, they're pumping in gas, they're making them change their minds, which seems difficult to do with drugs, but okay. And Marty is hip to them, he finds a camera in a broken lamp. But he thinks he's on a reality show? Yeah. Yeah. My mom and dad are going to think of a real pot head, whatever he says. Then he gets taken away by one the bu bu the the the the the the the the the their their their their their th. th. their th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi is thi. thi is difficult thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi is difficult is difficult is difficult is difficult is difficult. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. th. th. thi. thi. the. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te gets taken away by one of the Buckner's through the window and were to believe he is dead. So the other three get in the RV and try to go through the tunnel.
Starting point is 00:32:50 The tunnel is supposed to have blown. The tunnel has not blown it. Demolition has blown it, but not blown it. Demolition has not blown it. But we're supposed to blow. You know what I'm saying. I love this because this scene like for me really sets home that you're cheering for both sides in this movie. Yeah, right. It's a weird dynamic to want them to live but also not want them to live. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:14 So Richard Jenkins is making this valiant run through the complex to get to demolition, to find the motherboard that's broken, to replace it and blow the tunnel, which he does. Which he does at the very last second and then Channing Tadham must back all the way out which is a very scary scene because I don't like to back up. That's why I don't park in driveways. Playing on your fear of backing up. Yeah. So right, they go through these series of misadventures where they're escaping and Channing
Starting point is 00:33:45 Tatum tries to jump the ravine on a motorcycle. I love this speech he gives before he jumps across the ravine. He's like, if I have to limp and I'm gonna do it for jewels and I never hold back and then he fucking bounces off the grid and bounces for like 45 seconds the whole way down which is all the way down it's like down to the center of the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th I'm. I. I'm. I'm the. I'm the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I I I I I I I I I I I I I I. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm the the the the the the the the. I'm tea. ttttea' tea' tea' tea' tean. ttean. ttea'ean. ttea' like down to the center of the earth. He just keeps falling and falling and falling and falling. I love that the violence has played real in this. Like when Jules is dying, it's super sad and super violent and weird and like... They throw her head through the door so that's pretty bad. It is but it's like one of the movies that this is referencing a lot is Cabin Fever, the Eli Roth movie.
Starting point is 00:34:26 And that's just like Hammy throughout. There's no like seriousness to it. But this like, it handles the violence seriously, yet the comedy has done very well. It's very funny. Much funier than Cabin Fever. You're a dummy. I'm sure he's fine. I'm sure he's fine. So earlier we'd seen that there's a bloody handprint on the RV, insinuating one of the Buckner's is on board, and when Jule or Dana and Holden are driving away, Holden's giving this speech about like you can't go crazy on me now, you're the only thing I've got left.
Starting point is 00:35:01 No matter what we have we've got a stick. And the knife goes through his throat. Yeah, sickle I think. I like farm equipment. As murder weapons. The RV goes in the water. Dana's trapped in the RV with Judah the brother. Being trapped in a vehicle underwater is really terrifying. Yeah I think about how I would have what I would do to get out of one all the time. Yeah after the Liberty Liberty Bridge fire last year, I have to drive across the Liberty Bridge to go to work. And I every day would like take off my seatbelt and rolled on my window in case it collapsed. You never know, you know? I'm a good swimmer, I'd be all right.
Starting point is 00:35:38 So you're then buckling it as soon as you're back to the tunnel, yeah. When you're in the tunnel, I feel like you're fine. It's never been an accident near that tunnel. Well, you know, you want to be buckled in if you have an accident in the tunnel. You're looking at a bigger picture here. Yeah, yeah. She gets out of the water and they've met the requirements they need to meet so they think and they're listening to the role with the changes While they're celebrating a listening to Ario Speedwagon they got a call the red phone the red phone the red phone the red phone You're gonna get a landline first. Yeah, and earlier when? Marty had died. There was a big rumbling thumbly that happened? Oh, the thir the the the the the the the the the the they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they's. they's. they's. they's. they's is is. they's is. they's is. they's is. they's is. I is. I is. I's is. I's is. I's is. I's is. I's is. I's is. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's they. I's they. I's they. I's they. I's they. I's they. I they. I they. I they. I they. I was they're they're they're they're they're they. the happened. Oh right we've seen like blood filling these portraits carvings in a temple somewhere. Yeah it doesn't matter don't worry about it. You guys have seen this. You've seen it I'm not gonna describe it to you. Yeah I'm describing the whole movie to you so enjoy yourself. Call comes on the red phone says hey it's not just the Virgin one of
Starting point is 00:36:42 them's left Marty shows up beats the shit out of the dad Buckner with his bong. Yeah. yeah. yeah. yeah.. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the tip. tip. tip. t. t. tm. tm. tm. tm. tm. tm. tm. tm. tm. tm. tm. tm. I'm tm. I'm tm. I'm. I'm. One of them's left Marty shows up beats the shit out of the dad Buckner with his Bong. Yeah, and here's where we learn that it doesn't matter if the Virgin dies or not, but she can't die before the others. She has to be the last. She's got to be the final girl. Yeah, then oh I guess Marty in his time away has found the elevator. So they go down into a grave where the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the time.eau.ea.ea.ea.ea.a.ea.ea.ea.ea.a.ea.ea.ea.ea.ea.ea.ea.ea.ea. their the the the their the elevator. So they go down into a grave where the Buckner's have come out of and they go into this elevator and it's the greatest scene in like modern movie history. Because of the disembodied zombie hand? No, because they go through this crazy glass tunnels full of monsters including a hellraiser or a centibite I shouldn't call him a hell razor. Do you want to know his name? Yeah. His name in the credits is fornicis for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for for f. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. Perfect. That's perfect. Clive Barker's like, fuck you. That was a serious film.
Starting point is 00:37:31 That was a serious movie about serious shit. I love that the first thing we see is the werewolf. Yeah. Fun fact about the werewolf. Yeah. Later on, we will meet the Sigourney Weaver in this movie. She was very very very very very very very very very th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. th. th. thi. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. th. th. the the. the. the. the. the. the. toe. toea. toea. toea. toea. toea. toea. toea. the the thea. thea. thea. the the Weaver in this movie. Yeah. She was very excited to do a scene of the werewolf. There's pictures of her hanging out with the werewolf. I'm glad. I'm glad to hear that.
Starting point is 00:37:48 So I feel like we could have her as a guest. Oh, yeah. She's like practically one of us. So they unleash all these terrors. Yeah, they get down to the, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the, the, the, the, the just says system purge. In what world would you ever use that button? Why would there be all of those elevators to bring all those monsters at once? I don't know. And they come in several spurts too. So waves upon waves of death and destruction. I love the dinging of the elevators before they open. There's something really like, a lot of this movie is like jokes about bureaucracy, you know? And it just somehow fit into that motif really nicely.
Starting point is 00:38:27 Well, when that elevator dings and you're waiting for it to open, there's that moment of tension, like, is someone going to be getting off and I have to get out of the way? Or can I just run on this fucking elevator? And then it's monsters. Straight up monsters. I love the one guy. Like, who programmed that? It's so cool. And whatever that, like, from what I understand, they figured out the physics of how all of those boxes would move. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And so like, but like, they're like an all in glass cubes.
Starting point is 00:38:55 Yeah. It's not like you're feeding them, what the fuck are you doing with those monsters? Why would you ever need them to come down at this level? And what, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, and what are, yeah, yeah, and what are the, yeah, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the th... Yeah, th. Yeah, th. th. th. th.. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the to come down to this level? And what are they do? Yeah, it's not like they get off the and go to the vending machine like in the three o'clock hungry hour. Yeah, I'm the robo-scorpie and just popping down some oil. I'm just the sugar plum fairy with teeth for a face and I need a granula. And I that's the thooats, that, that, that, that, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, tho, the, tho, th, you, you, the, the, tho, tho, and I tho, and I th, and I'm, and I'm, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, you, I th, I th, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm the, I'm the, I'm th.. I'm th. I'm the, I'm the tho, I'm the the the tho, I'm just. I'm just. I'm just. I'm just. I'm just, I'm just. I'm just, I'm just, I'm just, I'm just. I'm just, I'm just. I'm just. I'm just. I'm just. I'm just. I best one. You're crazy. No, peanut butter is too much. What do you mean this too much? Oton honey. What a fool. What a fool, but me? Through the changes. Anyway, so then it's just blood and madness for a long time. And they start killing all of the people in all the office workers, which on the monitors there's a bunch of references to other horror movies. One of which black Christmas. Did you see that? the the the the the th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, the th, the th, th, the th, th, th, th, th, th, th. What, th. What, th. What, th. What, the the people in all the office workers, which on the monitors there's a bunch of references to other horror movies, the one of which, Black Christmas, did you see that, the guy putting
Starting point is 00:39:49 the bag over the woman's head? No, really? No, I didn't notice that. I was like, oh, it's black Christmas. And then there's the strangers, which I also thought we had done, but we hadn't done. I would say. There's a Pennywise. There's a Pennywise. There's a... Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. He's pretty great. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:08 There's um, the scarecrows, yeah. Yeah, the unicorn, like, just goring that guy in the hallway is so good. Yeah. Why would you trust a horse with a weapon? You know what I mean? They're like dangerous enough without having a knife on their forehead. They're magical, magical beasts. Monsters. Clearly, and I'm not the only one who thinks so.
Starting point is 00:40:29 Of course. I love the, I love the bat dragon. Yeah, or the dragon bat. It's just so cool and terrifying. So we go through all this chaos and Bradley Whitford gets killed by the merman. And he's so bummed that he's finally seeing the merman and it's going to be his demise. It's like his, oh come on,
Starting point is 00:40:50 which I really liked. And he is his facial expression. He's so good. Great. So good. I'm glad that we've done two of his movies so close together. Yeah. And the merman is fucking ugly as sai. It's thahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah. It's th. It's th. It's the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. th. the mirt th. that the mirt th. the mirt, the mirt, the mirt, the mirt, the mirt, th. th. th. the m. th. the the th. the the the the th. th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi th. thi th. thi thi th. th. th. th. It looks like a fucked up Ursula from the Little Mermaid. And it's like very fat and pulling itself on its like army crawling on its elbows. But it's it has no back parts. Like how has it moved out? I don't know. It's the damn... How did it get there? I guess is the question.
Starting point is 00:41:21 It was a long road hoe. Yeah. And Richard Jenkins runs out with the chem worker and she gets pulled up by some snake dragon beast thing. Oh yeah, just tentacled up and then through the cell. That's what it was tentacles, yeah. And then he rounds a corner and gets stabbed by Dana. Yeah. Oh no, yeah, yeah. I was thinking about, um, what's. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. this is is this. thi. thi. this is this is th. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I was thinking about, what's the security guards name? Truman. They, the scarecrows, signed on him, which is gross and weird, yeah. Yeah, so you're right, he gets stabbed by Dana.
Starting point is 00:41:51 And he says, he like grabs Dana, he just goes, please kill him. Yeah. And it's like, oh, that's weird. That's a weird plea. Yeah. And she's slowly piecing th, th, th and th and th and th and thing thiiiiiiiiiii, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. th. th. th. that's, that's that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. that's, that's, that's, that's that's together what's happened. Which I don't think I would piece that together. No, that you had to choose your own demise? I don't know. She does though. She's like they made us pick and I'm like, mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:42:11 Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. they-sha'ea'aver. God, she's so good. She's great. And she basically explains to them that they are the only thing that is, you know, keeping humanity afloat. And that if Dana kills Marty, they can keep on keeping on. And Marty...
Starting point is 00:42:37 And Marty... Earlier... You have to sing it if you're going to say it. As you are able... Maybe I'm we the able, maybe I'm willing. Earlier, Marty has made the statement that our society needs to end, but we're all too chicken shit to make it in. Such a college kid thing to say.
Starting point is 00:42:55 Yeah, but... So he's like, fuck you, Sigourney Weaver. But Dana goes to shoot him. Yeah, and then a the werewolf bites Dana. Yeah. And he doesn't tell her about the werewolf. Yeah. And then... Patience shows up and takes out to Gorney Weaver.
Starting point is 00:43:11 Right, and then he kicks both Patience and to Gorney and Weveer over the edge. Yeah. And then kills the end because she's bleeding out from the werewolf. Yeah. And he's got the great line. He's like, I'm sorry I didn't tell you about the werewolf.
Starting point is 00:43:30 Do you like this end? Where the hand comes up from the ground and takes over the earth? No, but it's fine. I liked it. Yeah. And a lot of people didn't like tolain like it's like it's to to to to to to to to to to to to, that, that, that's fun of. I'm surprised, this is a great movie. But I'm a little surprised that you like something so meta. Given your disdain for scream. I like this because I felt like- We know, we are in the,
Starting point is 00:43:54 wrought with the changes. Can you say ratings phase in our air-speed wagon voice? It's not great. It's not good. It's not good. So we're in it then. All right, we're in the face. That's so much better. I don't think it is. So.
Starting point is 00:44:16 None if it's good. I feel like my Michael McDonald's better. I like this as a meta movie better than Scream because I feel like Scream is like, these movies are dumb. And I made, upon watching it again when we did for the, for the podcast, I was like, okay, maybe I was too much of a dick back in the day. So, oh, you did have a reckoning in that episode, you're right. I forgot because it was like three goddamn years ago. But I love this movie. I think this movie this movie this movie this movie this movie this movie this movie this movie years ago. But I love this movie. I think this movie is so well done.
Starting point is 00:44:46 They wrote it in three fucking days. Really? Three days because they were both had failed projects and I'm like, why don't we just go hold up in a hotel room and see if we're gonna write a movie that we wanted to. That's amazing because I feel like there's so many movies we've joked have been written in three days and they've all been. And this is really well done. My, my, I didn't even make a note of it, but when I was done watching this movie, I just went, that's how you make a fucking movie. Like, it's just so like... I mentioned fist in the air. Yes, John Bender then-dean-s'-like.
Starting point is 00:45:13 Yeah. I love that John Denver is full of shit. Woo! Thank God I'm a country boy. Um, sorry, I'm just picturing Don Denver with his fists in the end. That action has never happened. No, never been, never been jubilant to that John Denver. Um, yeah, I would give the movie a 10. Like, it's just, the acting is great.
Starting point is 00:45:46 It's just, it's so fucking well done. Like, it's just perfect. Yeah, same, 10. Yeah, I mean, and it's, the reception that it got was great. Yeah. I've never heard anyone disparaged this movie. No. No.
Starting point is 00:46:03 It's commenting on the state of horror. And like how it's gotten too violent and gross, like, saw movies and that stuff. Yeah, it's on those assholes like Eli Roth. Yes. Yeah. But this movie's not that gross. There's a ton of blood and there's gore, but it's not like... It's not torture porn.
Starting point is 00:46:19 Yeah, it's fun. It's fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun torn torn torn torn torn torn torn toer toer toer toer toer toer toer toer toomtoomf. It's fun, it's fun, it's fun toom-tortured thoom- it's fun to fun to fun to fun to fun torturf. It's torturf. It's fun torture tortured tortured tortured torture tortured torture torture toomtoomtoomtoomtoomtoomtoomtoomtoomtoomtoer toer th. It's fun deaths. It's fun deaths. It's fun deaths. It's fun deaths to Fun getting catching your friend's head and dismembered head. It's fun. It's just fun. But it's also obvious that these dudes love the genre. Yeah. Like they're paying so much homage and like so much stuff for like, you know, just for people who enjoy this as well. And like how lovecrafty and a lot of it is with the monsters and the temple and the ancient ones and whatever.
Starting point is 00:46:46 Right. Yeah. I was reading on IMDV that the big hand at the end is supposed to be the Greek god, Kronos that's coming out of the ground. Oh, yeah, he was the first, right? The world? Oh, the T. Yeah. Yeah. I got a little, I got a little. I got a little. I got a little. I got a little. I got a named after Sigourney Weaver's character from Ghostbusters. Oh good. Yeah, that's good.
Starting point is 00:47:09 I like that too. I think Sigourney Weaver insisted on that? I just love that she was excited to be in a scene with a werewolf. Yeah. She's so cool. She's the best. My other favorite fact for IMDV is, and from the commentary on the DVD is that so when they all go to the the docks and they're swimming yeah Marty's the only one to keep his shirt on yeah because apparently he was in better shape than the other two dudes you can
Starting point is 00:47:32 see it in some scenes yeah he's like real cut and you're like oh what's that's not the stoner stoners exactly and Who's more ripped than Channing Tatum? The man is a fist with abs. Sorry, what's his name again? Chris, Hemsworth. Whatever. Somebody proved to me that they are not the same person, and I will let it go. Do you need to see a picture of them standing next to each other?
Starting point is 00:48:03 I can't just show you a picture of the fact that they don't look anything like each other. They look exactly like each other. Are you kidding me? Google. Katie? Yeah. Let's hear a word from our sponsor. And now a message on Cryptocurium.com.

Starting point is 00:51:37 Hilarious and good insight into each movie. Oh, you don't know about that. No, that's, let him think that. Like, true horror fans, they they they they they they have they they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have they have let him think that.
