Werewolf Ambulance: A Horror Movie Comedy Podcast - Episode 141- Friday the 13th (1980)

Episode Date: July 3, 2017

We've covered some of the worst (or at least one of the worst) movies of this franchise, so we thought it was high time we covered the best: the original, 1980's "Friday the 13th." Special topics for ...your consideration include our aversions to camp and the group songs that go with it, why slasher films don't consider the season before they start filming, KEVIN BACON, lake monsters, Savini Watch, how completely illogical Jason's overarching storyline is and an announcement: guys, this is going to be our last new movie episode for a little while as Katie starts her baby hiatus. Allen is planning to put together some "best of" clips shows that will most likely come out biweekly until we're back in the groove. Thanks for all your support and we're already looking forward to picking it back up. Did you miss our other "Friday the 13th" episodes? Check out Episode 32- "Part VII" and Episode 117- "Part VIII." It's Tom Savinie watch. Oh my God. I have not seen him at the pool, but Rob called me as he was walking on the street the other day to tell me that he saw Tom Savini getting out of his blue hummer and the license plate says Carloff. What? I've never noticed the car before, but there it was. He is living a life. He's just just living the dream. Just living it. Just living the dream. It's so sweet. Boop boop Boop. I hope to see him at the pool. the pool. the pool. the pool. the pool. the pool. the pool. the pool. the pool. the pool. the pool. the pool. the pool. the pool. the pool. the pool. the pool. the pool. the pool. the pool. the pool. the pool. the pool. the pool. the pool. the the the pool. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the toooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo to to to to. to. to. the hope to see him at the pool this weekend.
Starting point is 00:00:46 Have you been enjoying the pool? I have been enjoying the pool. And who are you? Oh, are you having dementia again? No, I'm trying to be smooth about my radio introves. I am Katie. I had to think about it. I was like, can't.
Starting point is 00:01:03 No, that's that's thi thi thi th thi that's that's that's that's that's that's thi that's that's thatathe that's thatheatheatheathe that's thatheatheatheatheatheat get a joke in there? No, no, I can't. Who are you? I'm Katie. No, that's super fucking weird. I'm Alan. Hi, what are we doing here? It's hot. We're talking about where we're talking about a movie. Well, we're talking about it.
Starting point is 00:01:17 Actually, let's talk about it. I'm like, my shitty single. This is gonna be our last movie episode for a little while, because Baby. And then Alan is gonna do some editing magic, I guess. Yeah, I'm gonna do some like classic clips. Yeah, so we'll do some best ofs, because everybody loves a clip show. Yeah, and I'll- You guys have watched the Golden Girls, they're like every fourth episode.
Starting point is 00:01:41 So there'll probably be like interstitial things where where I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I their stuff. episode is a clip show. So there'll probably be like interstitial things where I'm talking about being in a freezer and remembering this time back when and then it'll go into a clip. Wait why are you gonna be in a freezer? That was like the 80s trope they like got locked into a freezer. Okay, sure. Or like like locked into like the back room at Cheers and Sam and Diane had to to think about the good old old days. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. to. to. to. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. the the the the the the. the the thea. the the. the the. to to in a auto body shop. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Also just encouraged me that all the Golden Girls Clips shows weren't clips from episodes you'd seen before. They were just like flashback episodes that they made up for that episode. Oh that's genius. Yeah. So you're gonna do new content by yourself and you're gonna do both our
Starting point is 00:02:19 voices and the jokes are gonna be really good, right? Yes. Yes and and. And and and you and you and you and you and you and you and you and you and you and you and you and you and you and you and you and you and you and you and you and you and you and you and you and you and you and you and you you and you you and you're you and you're you and you're you and you're you and you're you and you're you're you're you're you're you're you're to to to to you and you're you and you're you and you're the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the to the the the to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the to to to to to to do to to do to do th to tho. to tho. the they. they. they. they. the they. the the the the the the the the jokes are going to be really good, right? Yes. Okay. Cool. Yes and. Yes and. So be on the lookout for that. It might be bi-weekly. We'll see. It's summertime.
Starting point is 00:02:33 We've got stuff to do. Yeah. I think bi-weekly is because they're going to be a little bit more labor-intensive. Yeah. And also terrible. You're going to hear every word we've said on this podcast. Over two and a half years. Yeah, that's my plan. I'm just going to take, I'm going to group all the times we said a word together.
Starting point is 00:02:54 I like that. Titty, tiddy. Titty. Titty. No, that, that, that, that. You guys would like that. You'd listen to that, right? RADMTs, right? So everyone, think positive thoughts for Katie, because the baby time's coming, and it's gonna be awesome. Send me your good vibes. Yeah. But we thought we'd go out on a classic.
Starting point is 00:03:15 Yeah. Go out. We'll be back. end of a season. Yeah, we've had a number of seasons that we've called seasons but we've not taken a break. So what classic are we going to talk about Garney? We're talking about Tom Savini. He's a classic. He's a classic. He's a classic. He's a classic classic man. And he, this is his his, like, is this his best movie? Is this his his magnum opus? He's his magnum opus? this, this, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thus, the, they, they, they, so, so, th, th, soo, somea, so they, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, thus, thus, they, they, they, they, the, the, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is the, is the, is a the, is a the, is a the, is a the, is a the, is a they. Some. Some. Somea, is a they. Somea, is a they. Somea, is a they. Somea, is a they. So, is they. So, is they. So, is a, is athink Dawn of the Dead might be. Is that what Magnum Opus even means? I don't know. I don't know either. I was hoping it was a combination of opus from Bloom County.
Starting point is 00:03:50 Nope. The penguin who shaved and his butt fell off? What the fuck? What are you talking about? You can read Sunday comic strips from your hair? And then Magnum Pi combined into one, no? Maybe. I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I don't I don't I don't I don't I don't I don't I don't I don't I don't I don't I don't I don't I don't. I don't know. I don't. I don't. I don't know. I don't. I don't. I don't. I don't. I don't. I don't. I'm. I'm. I'm. I th. I th. I th. I th. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I th. I th. I tho. I tho. I th. I th. I th. I rible. And then Magnum P. I combined into one one creature, no? Maybe. I don't know. I'm not going to look it up. So probably yes, Magnum opus. This is a really great Tom Savini movie. And we, uh, I was gonna say Maniac was a
Starting point is 00:04:15 Tom Savini movie, but the original was. Oh, was it? Yeah. He blows his own head up in that movie. Oh, yeah. Yeah, he blows his his his own his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his his own his his his his his own his his his his his his his his his own his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his own his his his his his his own his his his own his his his his his his own his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own his own. Oh. Oh. Oh. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He's. He's. that. Yeah. I just saw these Tom Savini things I can't stop talking about like we just did Monkey Shines too. Wasn't that a tomatoes? Yeah. Yeah. Dude this is fingers at a lot of movie pies. Yeah and a blue hummer with the license plate that says Carl off. That's pretty dope. It is pretty into that. I like that he like went online. to that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. t. t. togee. toge is is fingers. toge. toge is fingers. toge is fingers. toge is fingers. toge is fingers. toge is fingers fingers fingers fingers fingers fingers. toge is fingers.there's a thing where you can check to see if a license plate is taken in Pennsylvania. Oh yeah, yeah. You typed down, he was like, yes, Carl off. All right, what would your personalized plate be? Oh, God, I just had one the other day. What was it? Let me think. Well, first of all,. Sure, sure. Love to fart.
Starting point is 00:05:05 I don't know. I got nothing. When I was a kid, I really wanted to get PHA-D-Q. Ah, fuck you. Yeah, because. They're not going to be on to that at the DMV. I'm pretty slick. Speaking of not being on to things, let's talk about Annie. Because what the fuck? Do we say the...
Starting point is 00:05:25 We're typical Friday, the 13th, right? Did we? I don't even remember. Friday the 13th, the original, 1980. 1980. We've done so many Friday the 13th, we should probably do the good one. One of the good ones. The best one, probably, the best, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the..., the. the the the the the thr., thr., the thr., thr., the the the the thr., the the the thr., the the everybody loves about Friday the 13th movies. Hockey masks. Hockey masks and Jason's. Though the second one doesn't have hockey masks either.
Starting point is 00:05:50 This is like a brief glimpse of Jason. Rare as well. Which I have a fact about that I want to remind, make sure I say the fact at the end, okay? Little baby Jason. Yeah. I never went to camp, did you? No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. I don't think I'd like all the group singing. Yes. Or acoustic guitars. They don't mind a nice acoustic. I don't mind getting a little jam on. Little Michael Rowe, your bow to shore. That's where I'm out.
Starting point is 00:06:14 That's your jam. The metal version, the middle acoustic version. So talk to me about Annie. Annie's a dummy. Like, why did she not make plans to get to the camp? She just strolls into town 20 miles away, like, where's camp? She's just a hippie, man, a free spirit. I guess. Well, I guess before we get to Annie, there's the scene of like the kids from the, from 1, the the. Who's the scene, the th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thin, th thin, th thin, th th th th th th th th thin, thrown thin, th to, to, to to to to to to to to to th. th. th. th. thin thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thrown thrown thrown thrown thrown, thrown, thrown, the the the the th. She, thrown, thrown, thrown, the thrown, te, tou, te, te, toooooooooooooooooooooooooo tthe the the the the the the. Yeah, they just didn't they were like, fine fine fine fine fine. And that opening scene I remember really frightening me as a kid. I think it was that pause on her screaming. Oh, yeah, yeah. It's not that great as an adult, but what are you gonna do? No, it's definitely schlocky. It's definitely silly times, but like yeah, it sets the tone for the rest of the film I think. Okay, yeah, th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's the th. It's the the the the th. It's the th. It's the th. It's the th. It's the th. It's the th. th. th. th. th. the. the. that's that's that's the th. th. th. that's th. th. th. the. the. th. It's th. It's th. It's th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's the the the. the. the. the. the. th rest of the film, I think. Okay, yeah. This is just gonna be a ridiculous kill fest. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:07:06 Although the trailer does offer me 13 murders. Thirteen. If you watch the trailer, it counts off the number of dead people. Oh, I posted the trailer and then didn't watch it. Normally, I just checked to make sure they're in English. This is the level of commitment I have tha thi thiiiii thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi thi thi, thiolea' thi, I thi thi thi, I thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi th is th is th is thi th is thi thi thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi thi thi thi thi thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii thi thi thi thi thi commitment I have to this podcast right now and I'm sorry. It's hard. You got stuff going on. I'm tired. I'm tired and you know what it's real hot and sometimes when it's hot I just can't do anything. Like Annie who's walking around with this huge pack.
Starting point is 00:07:36 20 miles from the camp. She just wants to live her dream. Why didn't anybody like, why didn't she arrange for a ride? Why didn't anybody pick her up? This is the, the, the height of hitchhiking culture. I guess. As we've learned from like the fog, true, and other movies we've done. Where everyone's hitchhiking? Yeah. You ever hitchhiked?
Starting point is 00:07:58 Hmm. I've been picked up on the side of the road by strangers, but not because I was hitched. You didn't put your thumb out? Right, right, right, right. Were you just like? Just showed a little leg. Oh, yeah. Yeah, they go. And everyone is referencing Camp Crystal Lake to Annie as Camp Blood, and she does not ask why. For a very long time. No, the dude in the car has to prist, to to prest, to prest, to yell, to yell, to yell, to yell, to to yell, to to yell, to to to to to to yell, to to to to to to to yell, to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to, to to to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to too, too, too, too, too, too, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the. theass I don't believe in ghost dummy. Yeah
Starting point is 00:08:26 any gets what she has coming. Yeah what's her sin? I mean being stupid I think being a poor planner. Being like unaware of her surrounding. Oh Annie. So much feathered hair. She looks great. She's fantastic. Very, very cute. Was the, did you watch it on Mazan? I did.
Starting point is 00:08:53 Was it a little dark? You mean like, colorwise? Just like, yeah. Like, it was kind of hard to see stuff sometimes. Yeah, I couldn't remember if that was just part of the movie, especially later, like in the running around in the dark at the camp. And I know I own the DVD, but I literally couldn't be bothered to dig it out, so I rented it for $2.99. Yeah, on that Sd.
Starting point is 00:09:12 Yeah. This movie does have like, you guys have seen this movie. wea wea. watching it now is like being into someone who like gets into rock and roll and then someone's like oh this is Elvis and the Beatles or this is like you know like Chuck Berry like check the and I'm like oh oh oh so that's where all this came from right is this is this one kind of and then there's like this like blood and black lace the Mario Bava movie and then the qu-like. The quintessential slasher right there's like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like the the the the the the th. I th. There's th. There's th. There's like. There's like. I th. I th. I th. I th. I's like. I's like. I's like. I'm th. I'm th. I's th. I'm th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I's like like like like. I's like. I's like like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th. th. th. th. th. th. I's like, well, Black Christmas is like the first one, kind of, and then there's like Blood and Black Lace, the Mario Bava movie, and then... I'm shaking my head, no, because I've never heard of it.
Starting point is 00:09:52 And I mean, this movie was done to capitalize on Halloween. Right. Right. Even down to setting it in New Jersey. Because, like, Haddonfield is named, in Illinois is named after Haddenfield, New Jersey. And, and the, and the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, and is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is a, is, is a., is a. And, and is a. And, and is a. And, and is a. And, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, and is a.s.s.s. to. to. to. there's a sign that like is like this way to Haddonfield, this way to Vorhees, which is a township in New Jersey. So okay. Can we talk about how it's obviously fall? It's set in June. That last scene where she's in the boat, all the trees are turning and it looks beautiful. It's like it's just like when when when when when when when when when they's like when they's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, the the the the the the the the the the the their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, th. threes, threes, threes, trees, threes, threes, threes, threes, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the, th. the, the. the. threes, threes, threes, threes, threes, threes, threes, threes, the. the. the. the. the. thea. the. the when they cruised to and was that the eighth installation? Yeah, when they took the cruise to Manhattan and there were fucking mountains of Seattle or whatever in the background. I did have a
Starting point is 00:10:33 nerd moment where I was like oh this is the flip of Halloween because when you watch Halloween you realize all the trees are like vibrantly green. Yeah why can't they just get this right? Because he shot it in California. Yeah th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's the the they. It's is is, they. It's. It's. It's, they. It's, they. It's, they. It's, they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. It. It's. their. It. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's t. t. t. t. t. took. took. took. took. took. took. took. took. took. took. took. took. the took. the can't they just get this right? Because he shot it in California. Yeah, that's true. But yeah, this is, yeah, it's obviously fallen, obviously silly. And they're all wearing like cable knit sweaters. Or at least Mrs. Voorhees is. Oh, spoiler, Lord. Mrs. Vorese is the killer, in case you guys didn't know. Always the mom. Yeah. I think it's recently I've realized how th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that's th. that's that's that's th. that's th. th. that's th. that's that's th. th. that's th. th. that's the the that's the that's that's the the the the the the the that's that's the the the the the the the the the the the the the the they. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah, th. th. th. th. Yeah, th. th. Yeah, th. th. th. th. Yeah, th. th. th. th. that's obviously, it's obviously, it's obviously, the the the the the the the th. Yeah, the th. Yeah, it's obviously how much horror movies blame the mom and it's really starting to get to me. Well, I was wondering if that was part of the reason for picking this for our hiatus movie. No, because I'm going to be an ape shit mom is what you're saying. No, no, I was just wondering if because the mom is a big theme in this movie.
Starting point is 00:11:19 Yeah. Could have done any of these movies we've done? It's true. Could have done the Babaduke again? Yeah, could have done, uh, that was that Iranian one where it was the Iranian Babaduke? Don't even remember. Under the shadows? Fine, maybe. I like, I've seen all these movies I don't remember any of them. It's a monster. Oh, you're thinking for two right now.
Starting point is 00:11:47 So yeah, Annie goes into one of my favorite troops in these movies, the diner where everyone stares at you and doesn't want to talk to you. Right. But then they're like, oh give this girl a ride, take her to the crossroads. Because I'm going to to me to say everybody. Fun fact. to that song of the drive over here. Good, good, I'm glad. Bum, boom, boom, boom, boom.
Starting point is 00:12:08 Official sub-anthum of WhereW Fabulates. Sure, we should just make that the theme song until someone tells us to stop. So then the trucker gives the ride. He does all of his exposition to explain that a kid died in 57, and then the two murders in 58. And then that's a curse. Well, then the repeated burning downs. Oh, right. Which is Mrs. Vorghys burning it down?
Starting point is 00:12:30 I don't know. And then who's rebuilding it? And then also, like, this occurred to me watching this movie this time, because it seems to have been working on it for a little while before everybody arrives that day. He's put in about a year's worth working to him. Why doesn't she just kill him in that year instead of having this slaughter? Because she has to kill counselors. Because counselors killed her boy.
Starting point is 00:13:01 But it seems like she's just trying to keep it from opening. Her motivations are a little. You're just trying to economize her murder. Yeah. Well, it's easier to kill one person than seven, in my opinion. Tell me if I'm off base on this, but Steve is like a sexy shirtless Ned Flanders. Oh. I was shaking my head strongly, no. But then when you said Ned Flanders, I was like, there's something to that. I don't find him sexy, but he finds himself sexy, as he just gropes Alice's face.
Starting point is 00:13:34 This movie is a, yeah, another one of the, we don't really like women that much kind of movies. Yeah, well, that's a slasher. But it has Kevin Bacon, so what are you going to do? Stared is his beautiful, angular nose. He has like almost no lines, too, which is fantastic. He does have the best death in the movie. One of the best death and a lot of movies. It's one of my top ten deaths of all deaths, Kevin Bacon's death. Go ahead and tell tell tell tell tell tell to th and th and to th and th and th and th and th and th and th and th and th and th and th and th and th and th and th and th and th and th and th and the the the the the the the, the a the, the, he has the, he has the, he has th is the, he has the, he th, he th, he th, he th, he th, he th, he th, he th, he th, he th, he th, he th, he th, he th, he th, he th, he th, he thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi, he's the, he's the an the an thean thean thean thean thean thean thean thean theaughe, he's the, he's the, he's the So he goes to the bone zone. With Marcy.
Starting point is 00:14:05 Marcy. And she leaves to go the bathroom. And he's smoking a d'oeub with matches. And a hand comes out from under the bunk where they've just gone to the bone zone. That person was under there the whole fucking time. And there was a dead body above them the whole fucking time. How they did not the bone. their their their their their their their above them the whole flooding time. Right. How do how they did not see it? I don't know because a top bunk is like eye level for an adult. Well if you notice there is a
Starting point is 00:14:30 sleeping bag bunched up against the body blocking it from their views and Mrs. Voorhees was thinking ahead. Before she crawled under the bottom to wait for them to bone and then grabs this forehead and jimps his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his a little bit physically impossible, but I'm gonna just let it go. Savini, that was amazing. It was really good, just bursting through his neck skin. Least favorite thing in their sex scene? The intimacy? No.
Starting point is 00:14:54 Usually in those sex scenes, you don't have to, there's not the audible noise of the dude finishing. finishing? But Kevin Bacon! And he goes, ugh. And I'm just like, oh, bacon. Killing Bacon's a Pennsylvania. Is he? Yeah. Oh yeah, we talked about this? Were we debating who the most famous Pennsylvania was?
Starting point is 00:15:15 I feel like I've had this conversation with, uh, with others, with Tara, with Tara from the, uh, your next episode and. I mean, Ben Franklin is the most famous. Well, contemporary. Contemporary. I think it's probably Bill Cosby, which is a shame. Or maybe Will Smith. Who's been famous? Will Smith? Yeah, let's just go with Will Smith and fuck Bill Cosby.
Starting point is 00:15:34 Yeah. What about Joe Biden? From Scranton, Scranton, but Delaware claims him. He's not you. He was a senator in Delaware for years. He's ours. Scranton. It always took the Amtrak up from D.C. to Delaware to go home. Gotta get him in Delaware. Marcy's boobs are the only boobs we see in this movie, too. That's surprising. I know.
Starting point is 00:15:58 I sort of remembered this being more boob heavy. And it isn't. An hour in before there's boobs, which definitely changed in these movies at some point. Especially because it gets into the killings pretty quickly. Like Annie does not make it very far. And there's killings in the cold open basically too, so. Tom Savinie did a really nice, her throat getting slit in that. And I love the initial, there's no blood and then blood comes out. And then I should note that Kevin that Kevin that Kevin that Kevin that Kevin that Kevin that Kevin that Kevin that Kevin that Kevin that Kevin that Kevin that Kevin that Kevin that Kevin that Kevin that Kevin that Kevin that Kevin that Kevin that Kevin that Kevin the the that Kevin the the the the the the th. th. the the the the. the, the. thi. thi. thi. th. tooing is is tooing is tooing is tooing is tooing is tooing is tooing is tooing is to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to be. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to be. too. too. too. to the the the tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. tooo. too. to. to death number five. OK, so who dies before him?
Starting point is 00:16:26 The two up front. Aennie and Ned, I guess. Right. Yeah. And Ned's death happens off camera. He just wanders into a building going, hey, who's in there? And then you see his dead body on the bunk. Poor, poor, lonely Ned. He keeps telling women that he wants to have sex to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have sex to have sex to have sex to have sex to have sex to have sex to have sex to have sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex sex to have to have to be their to be to be their their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. to. to be. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to too. to the the the too. keeps telling women that he wants to have sex with them and nobody will reciprocate.
Starting point is 00:16:45 Yeah. Ned, if he were alive today, would be on Reddit as a men's rights activist. Bitching about the friend zone, you know what I mean? Fucking Ned's rights activist. Yeah. Ned's a grosso. So is it him that asks if you were a flavor of ice cream, what would it be? Yes. I wrote down Pralines and Dick, which is a completely different movie.
Starting point is 00:17:11 What is that? It's from Wayne's World. If Benjamin were an ice cream flavor, he'd be prelines and diq. Really? No, Wayne's World? I've seen that maybe like once or twice. You should see it like eight times and then we'll talk about it. That's gonna be our comeback episode, Wayne's World.
Starting point is 00:17:32 Okay, sorry, I'm just gonna keep going unless you stop me. I was gonna say that I have thought about doing the one Mike Myers horror-ish movie that I can think of. So I married an axe murderer. Oh yeah. I fucking love that movie. It's a very funny movie. That is peak, Mike Myers for me. Yeah, it's before everyone knew he was an asshole. Yeah. In that scene where Ned fakes drowning to get a woman to give him mouth-to-mouth resuscitation, the woman dives into the water like really gracefully,
Starting point is 00:17:59 and Kevin Bacon started out fucking belly flops and I love it. He looks like such a fool. You can tell he's like I'm gonna dive in and then he's like it's very good. And I've never been able to dive. Why? I got no skills that my my getting into the pool technique is just to keep walking. No jump just just a step definitely you get right in there. Gravity's gonna take you in there. You can just go over your head, just put your hands. Bend his knees, bend to the waist, if it's a board and spring. Just Frankenstein, that shit, walk right in the water. I feel like I've never noticed you doing that,
Starting point is 00:18:35 but that's hilarious. Next time we go to the pool off just watch, just watch, just walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk walk to walk to walk to walk and or Jesus. I love the Chris Angel was your first. As I was coming out of my mouth, I was like, say Jesus first. And then I was like, no, say Chris Angel first. Oh, your ability to edit is so great. Always one step ahead of myself. I feel like I'm two behind sometimes. Remember how we just discussed? I don't even remember what it was that I didn't remember because I'm thin a think. think think think thiiiiiii. to to to to to to to do to do. to do. to. to. they. their. their. to. to. to. to. to. to. toe. toe. toe. their. toe. I'm to me. I'm to me. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I don't even remember what it was that I didn't remember because I'm thinking for two.
Starting point is 00:19:06 It's it's some things you get and some things you lose. How did you feel about when Ned came out in the headdress with the diaper t-shirt on? The Miami Dolphins diaper jersey pretty racist. Yeah, yeah, but it's 1980 so it's kind of like, hmmm? It did look the cop call him cochiese and t. And the the t. the the t. the the t. the t. the t. the the t. the t. they. t. the the t. t. t. t. to. t. t. t. t. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. t. t. t. t. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. t. t. It's. t. t. t. t. I. It's. It's. It's. It's some. It's some. It's some. It's some. It's some. It's some. It's some gonna do? The cop called him Cochise and Tonto. A little bit racist also, yeah. A lot, I love that cop. What, that cop serves literally no purpose though. He's like, have you guys heard about Ralph? But we've already heard about Ralph,
Starting point is 00:19:35 so he doesn't need to warn them about Ralph, because we're he's out here. But then Ralph disappears, and that's it. That's the last year of Ralph. Until the cop later is like Ralph's wife was so worried about him. And I'm like, Ralph's married? What? He does show up in the deuce.
Starting point is 00:19:59 Imagine, oh, does he? Yeah. Imagine being married to the haaaaaaaaaaaaaaaa. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the Imagine being married to the harbinger. You're like, have a good day and he's like, you will have a terrible day. It's doomed. Oh man, I want to be a harbinger when I grow up. He's the quintessential harbinger too. He really is.
Starting point is 00:20:18 Like, down to the outfit and the bicycle and like the facial hair, like everything about him is like what all harbingers are based on. Columbia, gold, green, hash, the weed, dig it. That's what it was. I use the he shows up to tell you everything you can call weed. Yeah, that's literally his line. They keep calling it grass and I'm like, oh, that's so cool. Is it? I hate when people call it pot. It makes me uncomfortable. What about jazz cigarette? That seems silly.
Starting point is 00:20:46 But I'll accept it. Oh yeah, I just, he's just like, bam, bam, bam, bam, bam, just knocking about it. It's really good. Columbian Gold, Grash, the weed, dig it. Why dig it? Who's digging it? That cop is amazing. He's so useless, I love it.
Starting point is 00:21:05 And he's just talking to these teens, like they are doing something wrong. But he had come to see if someone was like hurting them, basically. I do remember like being a teen in the 80s, you get fucked with a lot from the cops. Yeah. Well, in the suburbs anyway. I'm from the city cups, I had actual things to do. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:25 Like, fuck with other teens, but in the suburbs. In the suburbs, yeah. Yeah. I love that Kevin Bacon just goes off and tries to get onto his motorcycle. Yeah, why would he do that? Answers the CB-radio. I guess. He's also wearing that delicate gold chain around his neck, which he really liked.
Starting point is 00:21:49 He's not wearing it when they bone, though, so he must have taken it off sometime between Oh, because he changes from a baseball shirt to a tank top. Yeah, he must have taken off the gold chain at that point, too. I loved when he puts the tank top back on because this was the first time that I was like, oh, he's that's like, they're not making that much of an upper torso for him when they stab him through the throat. Oh, yeah. But it looks pretty good. It looks natural. So good. So much blood.
Starting point is 00:22:10 Yeah. Also, Brenda is a vegetarian, you know? Because she'll fucking you. How do you know when someone's vegan? They'll let you know? I love Brenda, too, but she's just like, yeah, you're eating meat, which is the worst vegetarian. I was a vegetarian for 10 years. You don't say that shit to people because you're an asshole.
Starting point is 00:22:32 Weren't you that vegetarian when you started out, though? I don't think so. I want to pretend I wasn't. I mean, I was vegetarian in hardcore bands, so I was definitely fucking annoying. Of course you were that way. I'm writing songs about it, screaming in people's faces. You were screaming people's faces? Oh, yeah. You never saw me sing for a hardcore band, did you? Oh, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:22:53 What would you say to them? Well, I was screaming lyrics into their face. What would you say to them? I will not recount my lyrics right now. Can to. I. to. to. to. to. to. to. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the to to their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, the the the their. Oh, they. Oh, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the think they deserve it, Alan. After 141 episodes, the EMTs deserve to hear it. I will put the animal rights song that I sang in fighting dogs into this song. Fighting dogs. Fighting dogs.
Starting point is 00:23:16 Fighting dogs. You know, that's an ironic name for someone who does an animal rights song. Yeah, there's a lot of irony going on. What was the animal rights song called? I don't thah I th. I don't th. I don't th. I don't th. I don't th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi thi. thi. tho. thoom. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. I th. I th. I th. I'm thea. the on. What was the animal rights song called? Uh, I don't remember what it was called. No, it's not going to come back to me right now. I'll find it. It'll be in the show notes. I got on a compact disc somewhere.
Starting point is 00:23:32 Sure. Well, this will be fun for you to dig out, rip to a computer and then look into this episode. Don't grow a form. Drives to God's gnawine. Don't grow up triving to retaliation. Now I'm just going to be wrecked. What that song was called?
Starting point is 00:24:03 No, no, we got to focus. Like, let's focus on how there's nothing more annoying than a person just noodling a guitar. As Bill is doing, Bill is like a character that you don't even, he's like not, he's just a bland guy. You know what I mean? He, um, I named him a raw pud because he looks like the anti-Paul Rudd? Raw Pud, yeah, he's cute, but very bland. But it's like Paul Rudd needed a stunt bubble for Wet Hot American Summer, you just put Bill in there, you just slide him in. Totally.
Starting point is 00:24:30 It's like Ned dies and then Kevin Bacon dies. And then I was like, who's that guy? Who's the third? Where did they get his other guy? It's the Alice's platting. tonic love interest. Yeah. They caress every once in a while. But she's getting macked on by Steve Christie. The implication is that they had slept together the night before? I thought he was just trying to, try to put the moves on her and she was like, I'm chased.
Starting point is 00:24:57 I couldn't tell because I know she lives because she's chased. Right. She's really good at monopoly. I did want to mention when we mention guitar noodle like that the two annoying things that I do while I'm editing our episodes, is I play guitar. And when I'm not playing guitar, I'm doing the New York Times crossword buzzle. How do you do that with your fingers?
Starting point is 00:25:16 Because I try and then the buttons all the time for like hours on end. I guess you can take your fingers off the buttons. And you can rewind and then edit stuff which is one take one and done. Which is why it does take like two hours to do an episode. Yeah, it takes me about eight. It's a work day. But I just wanted to mention that I am really, I'm annoying myself. You're just playing guitar and doing the crossword puzzle. Yeah, look at yourself.
Starting point is 00:25:46 At least you're hashtagging. At least you're multitasking. Why? HASHTAG multitasking. HASHTAG. HASHT. task, vegan asshull. HASHT.
Starting point is 00:25:56 So blessed. HAST. . We're doing this again. Yeah, that was a great movie. No. Marcy's death scene is also pretty good. That acts to the head. It's pretty great. It's a really good effect. It's probably the tensest death because she spends a long time trying to find the person. Talking into a mirror like no one ever does in real life, but I hate when
Starting point is 00:26:19 they do that in movies? No. No. I th. I th. I th. I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's the. It's the. It's the. It's pretty. It's pretty. It's pretty. It's pretty. It's pretty. It's pretty. It's pretty. tea. tea. tea. tea. tea. tea. toea. It's pretty. It's pretty. It's pretty. It. No. No. I did notice that she was, this is 1980s, so it's pre the high wasted underwear that we get when we get into the 80s and the ladies. Mm-hmm. It's a lot 70s underwear. Yeah, yeah. But yeah, she's like brushing her tea. Or no, she wasn't brushing her tea. She was washing her tea. She was w-shewhoto get stabbed in a trot. True. Speaking of time, I want to jump ahead real quick while I'm thinking about this, when Alice and Ms. Vorhees are having their ultimate knockout, drag out fight at the end, yeah. Ms. Vorhees, to start the fight, throws Brenda's body through the window. Love that. And then is immediately in her jeep driving up. to. to. th. th. th, why, why, why, why, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, th, th, thi, thi, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, when I I I I I I I thi, when I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I th, when, when, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, the window. Love that. And then is immediately in her Jeep driving up. Down the street.
Starting point is 00:27:06 Down the street. I'm like, how? That 70-year-old woman or 60-year-old woman is fast as shit. But she's pretty buff. You think you could take Mrs. Forrhe's in a fight? I don't think I could lift Brenda and throw her through a window. Did you happen to look up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up up to to to to to to to to her through a window. Did you happen to look up any pictures of Betsy Palmer when she was younger? No, but I do know that she was like a television actress, right?
Starting point is 00:27:30 She was, she was on like a game show. And then Roger Ebert hated her so much in this. He docks her? Did he? Did he? Well, he tried to. He gave out her home address and said the fans should write her letters telling them how disappointed they were that she did this movie but he gave out the wrong address. You know where I got that on that weird pop-up video thing that happens on Amazon when you watch a movie on Amazon? Or was a Google Play that you watch it
Starting point is 00:27:53 on. No it was Amazon I mean it's because I watch it on a Kindle. Oh okay okay yeah it's just Amazoning into my Amazon and for 13 billion Amazon's. Do you know what I mean? I've lost the thread. Me too. No, it gives you like pop-up video facts and I have a really good one later. That's what I wanted to talk about with baby Jason. Let me show you a picture of her when she was young. Whoa. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:18 What a sparkler? I know. Yeah. Well, Roger Ebert tried to dox her. Why the fuck? Roger Ebert? He couldn't even do it right. You did some fucked up shit in your day dog. Oh yeah. Oh yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:32 Yeah, did you do that for any of the male stars in this movie? No, just the lady? Just went after the lady. Just disappointed in her appearance. Even thoo. she became to be known for. Sure, this was her first movie since 1959. Sheesh. Yeah. Well, maybe she just needed the work. She needed a new car. Okay.
Starting point is 00:28:49 She got paid, I think, like $1,000 a day to be on set. So she made like 10 grand. Dece? That'll get you a nice car in 1980. Yeah, apparently she about the script. She acts the shit out of that piece of shit, though. Oh, yeah, she is committed to the role of Mrs. Borehey's 100%. But yeah, I just thought it was hilarious that like she throws a body through a window
Starting point is 00:29:14 and then just think of her like huffin and puffing to get back to the car car car car car car car car car car car car car the car car the car car the car the car the car the car the car the car the road to make Alice think that it's Steve, I guess, because she has the same car as Steve. They're both driving that Jeep. Interesting. And it's the same Jeep. Fun fact that I learned on IMDB. Yeah? And one just has like the soft top and one has the heart top.
Starting point is 00:29:37 But it's the exact same car they just switched out're using this Jeep. But I guess that's to make you think Steve is the killer, right? Yeah, yeah. But which doesn't work because you see him at that diner, just like sweet talking that old lady. Also where the fuck has Steve been all day? The town is like, well it's 20 miles away. Yeah. Because when he gets back in the car is like 16 miles back to. the that. Yeah. Yeah. the the the the th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. th. th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. th. to, thi, thi, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, too. too. too. too. t t t together, together, together, t together, together, together, too. too. too. too. Yeah, too. He's been gone since like before lunch. It's dark outside and it's June so that means it's after 9 p.m. Maybe he had that like wet hot American
Starting point is 00:30:08 summer day where he went like smoked crack and stuff. Maybe. I'm just saying. Have you ever seen that harm would be called I think it's called Behind the Mask. It's like this like mockumentary sort of thing where it's following a guy who's becoming a serial killer? No. And it shows the the the the the th th. And it's like the the he. And it's like he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. th. th. th. th. th. he's like he's like he's like, th. th. th. th. th. that's like, that's like, that's that's like, that's like, that's like, that that that that that that that that that that that that that that th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It's sort of thing where it's following a guy who's becoming a serial killer and it shows like the training that he has to do no you got to do a lot of cardio because you have to be here and then over here really fast and it's like you know but and then it turns into an actual horror movie. Do you like how there's scenes in this movie where they are just like long shots of a person doing something really banal, like riding a bicycle away or making coffee or like? Yeah, not even like the watcher in the wood shots, just like regular, like padding. Yeah. And she doesn't put the lid back on that coffee jar and it makes me crazy. I always get this feeling the the the s the s the s the s the scenes the scenes the scenes the scenes the scenes the scenes the scenes the scenes the scenes the scenes the scenes the scenes the scenes the scenes the scenes the scenes the scenes the scenes the scenes the scenes the scenes the scenes the scenes the scenes the scenes the scenes the scenes. the scenes the scenes. the scenes the scenes the scenes the scenes the scenes the scenes their scenes their scenes their scenes their scenes their scenes their scenes. their scenes. their scenes. their scenes. their scenes. their their their the scenes. their. the scenes. their. the scenes. their. the scenes. their. It's I always get this feeling when I'm watching a movie or television where like if someone walks into a room or walks into like an apartment and doesn't close the door behind them, I get like really tense
Starting point is 00:31:33 that the door is still open and someone needs to go close it. So like the fact that the lid is off the coffee. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their their their their their their their their their their their their their their the the the their their their their. their. their their. their. their their their the movie. the movie. the movie. the movie. the movie. the movie. the movie. the movie. the movie. the movie. the movie. the the their their their. their. their. their. their. their. their their. their their their their their their their tree. tree. tree. tree. tree. te. te. te. their. their. their their their their their their their their their their t. Just tasks like hot brown, right? Yeah, I don't know. I kind of was raised on it because we drank a lot of coffee when I was a child, a small child, and it's amazing that I'm as tall as I am. Italian babies, man, you put coffee in their sippy cups. But somehow I'm the only one in my family over like five eight, so. I was drinking I was drinking like that like, you know, a ta th. I coffee and then rest of your cup is milk sort of deal when I was really young, like, yeah. What's the point of that? Well, who gives a baby caffeine? It was delicious, I'll tell you that much.
Starting point is 00:32:10 It gave me, I still have a love of coffee at this point in my life. Yeah, I'm addicted to caffeine of instant coffee. Okay. Yeah. Yeah. It's not great. No, no, no. That's all. Also, in that kitchen there are no knives, just a giant fork. So when she's looking for a weapon, she only has a fork.
Starting point is 00:32:34 What was Annie going to do? How was she going to make all this food? I guess it was in that roll with that much luggage. I don't know if Annie understood what was happening here. And why was Alice there so early? That's a good question. And why can't Alice hold on to a weapon? I don't know. And why was that axe tucked into a bed? Why didn't she take the axe?
Starting point is 00:33:00 No, she doesn't. No, Bill takes the axe? So we've th th th the th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, I thi. thi. the the thi. Um, so we've got Marcy, let's see. So we're up to the two horny kids in the beginning are dead. Mm-hmm. Ned's dead. Ned's dead. Ned is dead. Kevin Bacon's dead.
Starting point is 00:33:16 Yeah, no, his name is Kevin Bacon. Jack or one of nine movies that he was in. Yeah I believe I can't believe this was even the ninth movie he was in. Yeah no this was one of his first roles. He's how else would he have ended up in this movie? Poor Kevin Bacon. A lot of people came through this franchise like Crispin Glover and Corey Feldman and Horshack from Welcome Back Carter. And so Marcy's dead and Brenda was killed off screen as well. Right, we see her thrown through. Yeah, tied up with rope and stuff. Here's a weird thing. I remembered her being killed on the archery court.
Starting point is 00:33:56 But you don't see that happen. No, maybe we remember that because there's the earlier shot where she's setting up the dilapidated archery target. And fun vect, Tom Savini shot that arrow that went right next to her. Oh, Tom Savini, you fucking lunatic. And apparently it was way closer than it was supposed to be. I'm sure. Also, they're like, get the archery set up, and then he's like, it's going to rain. that th. It's in good shape already. In my reading of fun facts about this movie,
Starting point is 00:34:27 Savini and a bunch of the cast members and crew stayed on set in the camp. Like some of the cast stayed in a hotel or motel in town. They stayed on set and they had two VHS with them. They had marathon man and and Barberella. And each night they would pick which one of those movies they could do, or they would watch. And apparently, to this day, Tom Savini can recite all the lines from both of those movies.
Starting point is 00:34:51 That's why don't they just bring more movies? They're movie people. Those are two good-ass movies, though. Sure, but no movie is that great. thii. thi is thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thoom. tooom. tooom. toooma. tooom. tooom. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to toe. toe. toe. toe. toea. toea. tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooome. the the. thoooooooooooooooome. the. the. the. toe. toe.. It's true. Have you ever seen Barbara Roll? Yeah. God, that movie is so great. Just topless Jane Fonda for the first 15 minutes. Yeah, just doing her thing. I'm glad Jane Fonda still has a good career.
Starting point is 00:35:14 Oh yeah, yeah. Do you watch that show? I have not. It's very funny. It's very good. if I recommended it to you or not called Death at Pemperl. Death comes to Pemberley. No. It is a murder mystery set in the Jane Austin universe. Oh boy. I fucking love it. That is that has your name written all over it. But I thought you might enjoy it as well because I know you enjoy a murder mystery. I do. But back to five to 13th. A murder mystery. It is. It is. It is. It is. It is. It is. It is. A. A. A. A. A. It is. It is. It is. A murder's mystery. So, yeah, Brenda gets thrown through the window, which is great. I love throwing a corpse
Starting point is 00:35:55 through a window. I love throwing a dead thing through a window. It's just so fantastic. It's such a good thing. You mean you love it when it happens in a movie? Yeah. Okay. Yes. And then that begins Alice's a whining period. Yeah. She wines for just for about, I don't know, 12 to 15 minutes. Sure. It's just all she's doing is going, eh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, which like I get, you're distressed, but sure. They gotta cut some of that. The last half hour of this movie is the fight between Alice and Miss Vohy's. It goes on a while, yeah. I love the heel turn of Miss Voorhe's where she's like,
Starting point is 00:36:43 oh, I'll help you, let's hug, and th, and th, and then, and then, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the heel turn of Miss Voorhees where she's like, oh I'll help you, let's hug, and then we'll go inside. And then I'll explain to you that camp counselors killed my kid. And she's like, oh, she's so young and so pretty about Brenda. Like it's a shame when the pretty ones die? Like it's an extra shame, I guess? I don't know. There's so many lines in this movie. There's so many the girls the the the the the the the the their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their's their's their's their's their's their's their's their their came. It's te in this movie about like, do you think all the girls at the camp are going to be this pretty? Yeah, it's very, at least two of the characters have that said to them. Yeah. Yeah. And is the implication that Alice isn't that pretty? Someone says she's pretty at some point. Do they?
Starting point is 00:37:17 Yeah. It almost feels like, I Yeah, she's got the high-collared shirt on. Yeah. And that haircut that she like looks in the mirror at one point and goes, p-phatt, and I was like, me too, Alice. I had that haircut when I was a kid. Did you? The Dorothy Hamill? There's a picture of my sister and I were both. There's a picture and I'm sorry. I don't know. I was probably better than your sister. Yeah. Fine. Yeah. It's shame when the
Starting point is 00:37:46 pretty ones die. But yeah, it goes on a while. The fight. And it's a great example of kill him until they're dead. Oh, I had that note in here. Just beat her until she's not moving or like, tie her up or something. Like, I don't know. She's an old lady. to just wear her out. No, but she's so fast. And neither one of them can hold on to a weapon, which I feel like sets the precedent of Jason using a different weapon in every kill. Oh yeah, that makes sense. I like that.
Starting point is 00:38:15 Because every kill is done with a different weapon. Like there's no preferred, like, oh, this machete is working really effectively for me. I will just just like this this this this this this this this th just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. to to to to theeeean. to to. thean. thean. thean. thean. thean. the. the. the on to this and reuse it. Speaking of machetes, can we talk about the snake scene? Yes, let's. So that move? We're all over the place. Yeah. Yeah, you guys know what we're doing here. Do we mention we're going to spoil this?
Starting point is 00:38:34 Wuh, that scene. It's a, that scene To show that the kids can take care of themselves. Oh, OK. Which, it's really Bill. It's only Bill that can. The rest of them are trying to beat the snake with pillows. Yeah. And Kevin Bacon breaks the bed, like a dick.
Starting point is 00:38:54 But then they actually killed that snake. But then they actually killed that snake. the tha. the snake. the snake. they. they're they're they're they're they. they're they're they're they're they're they. they're they. they're they're they. they're they're they're they. they're they. they're they're they're they're they're. they're, they're, they're, they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. the. the. the. te. te. te. try. the the the the the the the the the the. their. their. their. they're really. th snake. Oh, that was a real snake that they really killed. Yeah, yeah. There was no like animal control on set or anything. I feel like they were like, it's not a cute animal. It's not like they killed a puppy, you know what I mean? Everyone looks at a snake and they're like, one less snake, you know? I do want to see that movie where they're like, there's a puppy in the girl, and the girl, and the girl, and the girl, and the girl, and the girl, and the girl, and the girl, and the girl, and the girl, and the girl, and the girl, and the girl, and the girl, and the girl, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it's th. It's not, it's not, it's not, it's not like, it's not like, it's not, it's not, it's not, it's not, it's not, it's not, it's not, it's not, it's not, it's not, it's not, it's not, it, it's not, it's not, it's not, it's not, it, it's not.... It. It's, it, it, it, it's, it's not. It's, it's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not, it's not. It's not like, it's not like, it's not like, it's not like, it's not like, it's not like, it's not like, it's not like, it's not like, it's not like, it's not. It's not. It's not. Yeah and the the coda at the end of the movie was also Tom Savini's idea. You mean the baby Jason? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. This is where I have my fact. Okay. So he was so excited about that that he once the movie, when it came out in theaters, he would walk into theaters for the last five minutes of the movie just to watch the audience react to that scene which is like Tom Savini was totally jay-oing to that you know I just feel he was wouldn't you be though oh yeah that's a cool
Starting point is 00:39:54 thing yeah apparently much like everyone else he saw DePalma's Carrie yeah I was like oh yeah we got to do that I mean everybody did that afterwards, right? I feel like how many times we said, oh, that's the carry ending, you know? The baby and the fly and all those things. Like, yeah. The monkey shines monkey. Yeah, we just had one like two weeks ago. I can't remember what it was. Yeah. The clowns from outer space. Oh, no wait. Oh, the comes out of the lake and grabs her. Is that a dream? Or is baby Jason really in the lake? I don't know, I don't know either. And that bothers me because like everything that happens in this franchise is so fucking silly.
Starting point is 00:40:34 Like how sometimes electricity revives him and sometimes it kills him. And sometimes he just lives in the bottom of a lake for a really long time. And sometimes he's in the Pacific Northwest. I don't know. Like. So, so brilliant. So why, okay, I don't know. I guess maybe it was a dream.
Starting point is 00:40:52 But she was certain that it had happened. Because they said, they pulled her out of the water. Oh, right. They didn't pull her out. Well, at least that boat? That's the last thing I would do is row out into the lake in the dark. You think because then you can't like you'd hear someone swimming out to you. But you're in the lake at the dark. You do have a fear of lakes. Everyone should have a fear of lakes in the dark. Do you like at the end the hospital scene where the nurse looks directly into the camera for a second. Did you notice that? I remand and watched a couple times because I was like, come on, lady, you have no lines.
Starting point is 00:41:27 All you do is give her a shot and then look at the cop. Give her a shot, look at the cop. Give her a shot, give her a shot, give her a shot. Look at the, no, no, she's not, they to, yeah. It's because it's a big muscle. Okay. Yeah, I never, well, probably because I got a tiny booty. There's nothing to mess with that. I've definitely had a butt shot. So that is Friday to the 13th. Yeah. Wait, we have a question.
Starting point is 00:41:54 Why do the cops come to the. Because they roll up lights ablazen. There's no reason for them to come there. Right, because they couldn't call out. Right. Nobody got out. No, the last they saw them was dropping off Steve to walk at the crossroads, I guess. I don't know. There's no reason for it. Cuz.
Starting point is 00:42:23 Could we talk quick about, like, for me, Halloween is the quintessential of these movies? Sure. It's like the... I'm embarrassed. I'm embarrassed. But I think there's reason for that. I'm embarrassed. I think this has become like, theyrash.
Starting point is 00:42:38 I think. I think this has become like, the quintessential slasher. Is it the summer camping? This franchise has become that, I think. It's made, I mean it's like, it's the butt of the jokes. Yeah. It's the, um, I was listening to a big daddy cane song earlier today. And he said, uh, if it's Friday the 13th, then I'm Jason. Because you know, he's doing some braggadosh. Sure. And like, I think it's like that hockey mask that comes later.
Starting point is 00:43:07 I think it's in the third movie that the hockey mass shows up. What happens in the third movie? It's in 3D. There's a lot of yo-yo's. I didn't see that. There's a spear gun that goes, I at sundown. He's got like the sackcloth sack. Yeah, and that one like sort of picks up with Alice in her apartment, right? And there's a head in the fridge or something? There's the shrine to Mrs. Vorhees. With her sweater and her decapitated, because
Starting point is 00:43:36 we forgot to mention that Mrs. Vorhese gets decapitated in an awesome slow decapitation. It's amazing. Because machete comes back. Right, right. Two snakes were killed with that machete. Is the other one Mrs. Voorhees? Oh come on. She's just crazy. Kill her, mommy, kill her. Oh yeah. That's really fucked up. She's very chilling. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And that's as we was pointed out to me after I was an idiot and said that Jason was self-generating the ha ha ha ha chachachas. I don't think you were an idiot. I don't think I think you just thought something that wasn't true. So the the people did get mad though. Yeah yeah. Again stating like the prominence of this franchise right but the guy who, what, the guy who did the soundtrack for this, which is a great soundtrack. There's no way I would ever know that. It sounds like the psycho soundtrack or psycho score.
Starting point is 00:44:30 Yeah, yeah, for sure. And there's a lot of like, it's almost like inverse psycho as well. It's the dead child and the mom's doing the murderers. Oh yeah, all right. Take that, Hitchcock. Yeah, where are you now, Hitchcock? the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. Anyway, Harry Manfredini, which sounds like a made up. Sounds like an Amy check into a hotel under. Yes, I'm Harry Murfredini. Mm-hmm. It's k, k, k, k, ma'am. It's k, k, k, k, k, k, k'k. It's k. Fucking dick.
Starting point is 00:45:25 But yeah, and again, that noise is like has terrified generations of kids at this point. It's true. There's a great reference to it in the Monster Squad where they're like talking about, I can't remember the name of the movie that they're watching, when is it him and his dad. the the and his, is this the one where he comes back via blah blah blah blah? It's like, no, that was the last one like that kind of thing. How dare you not know that? Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:51 Hey, Katie. Hey, A to move on the right. No, I can't do a little kids voice. I was going to do ratings. You want to go to the ratings face? Oh I hate that. Yeah, me too. I wish I hadn't done it. I wish I hadn't done it. No, I have to go now. Yeah, so no, we're not going to rate this one. Ha ha. Chicha. You can go first. This movie is really fun. This movie is really good movie and a really shitty movie thick. time on sub-level like. No, it's just really fun. Never mind. Yeah, tell me where you get the shitty from. Because it's just like, it's just happening. The cops showing up. It's like, it's not like an expertly crafted script that they're working with here. Starting point is 00:46:45 It's like getting from kill to kill to kill to kill. Yeah. But it's fun and it's fucking summertime and you're at the lake and you're in the camp and it's fall. They're shorty shorts. Suspension of disbelief. This movie, this is like, you've got to put it up there with Halloween and like setting the standard for this this this this this this this this this this the this the the the the the this the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to kill to kill to kill to kill to kill to kill to kill to kill to kill to kill to kill to kill to kill to kill to kill to kill to kill to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to toe toe toe...a.a.a.a.a.a.a. toe. toe. toe. te. te. te. te. the te. toe. toe. toe. toooome. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. to've got to put it up there with Halloween and like setting the standard for this genre. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:09 Yeah, this was one of the first like horror movies I saw for sure. And it's such a classic, I feel like everything it's spawned is really not great. Yeah. It's bad. It's the Pearl Jam. Yeah. So I would not give Pearl Jam a ten though. So that that threw me for a loop there. They gave themselves a ten. They did. But just saying like their their first couple of records are listenable and then like
Starting point is 00:47:37 the creeds of the world happen you're like oh no that's not with arms wide open. Is that okay can I do that? You did it? Can you do that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that th th th th th th th th th th th the the the the th that that the the the the the the the the the the. Is that okay? Can I do that? You did it? Yeah, it's too late. Can you do that in the little kids voice? No, no, don't do it. My God, I'm done. It's a 10, I'm out. I mean myself so uncomfortable.
Starting point is 00:47:58 Jesus Christ. This is how I'm going to leave. This is how I'm leaving the podcast. Temporarily. Just taking a break. You know what you're not going to want to take a break from while you're on hiatus from the podcast. What? The parcel of terror from Cryptocurium. All about it. You're so good at it. You guys know what this is. Oh, that's that Jason? Jason named after Jason Voor? Do you think? He does? He? He? He? He? He? He? He? He? He? He? He? He? He? He? He? He? He? He? He? He? He? He? He? He? Oh that's that. Jason? Is Jason named after Jason Voor? Do you think? He does live in New Jersey? He does. He does love horror. He does love horror. Do you think he owns a hockey mask? I think yes. If not, he could just make himself
Starting point is 00:48:37 one. That's what I'm saying. That's why I think he owns one. Because why would he not? He makes amazing handmade, handmade horror art. Magnets, pins, wall plaques. He has guest artists come in and do prints for the parcel of terror. There are sometimes necklaces, there's sometimes key chains, like that Chud keychain that's hanging from my rear of a mirror, which is amazing, I love it. There are stickers, there's sometimes candy. I'm just really hung up on weather how he feels about lakes. I'm sorry. There are stickers, there's sometimes candy. I'm just really hung up on weather how he feels about lakes. I'm sorry. I really want to help you out here and do this ad.
Starting point is 00:49:12 But I'm just thinking about, is he a bad guy? Everybody loves lakes? We don't know. No, that is not true. Have you ever swam in a lake? No. Would you? I've put my feet into Lake Michigan, but it looks like an ocean, so it's kind of not the same thing. It is very strange swimming in a lake.
Starting point is 00:49:30 With waves. With waves. And there's not sharks. There can never be sharks. There can't be sharks. Which is crazy. Although, I'm supposed to believe there's a locknest monster, so whatever. In lake Michigan? I thi I'm their their their their their their their their their their th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is thoes. I'm thoes. I'm thi. It's think like all large bodies of water have those things. I guess.
Starting point is 00:49:47 I remember there was Chessie, which was the Chesapeake Bay. I've heard of Chessie. What do you think lives in like the Mawn? Monty? Monty. It's just a body they found out while looking for another body. There are some, they found a body like along the jogging trail that I like to run on. And I was like, oh, it's like the beginning of an episode of Law and Order, and it wasn't me that found it.
Starting point is 00:50:11 Like I was almost a little bummed, but that's just morbid. Every time I'm taking a walk in the woods Unless he is like I'm just questioning everything I know now. He's not. He's a wonderful father and an amazing artist and that's sweet dude. He's very nice guy but like sometimes nice guys are hiding things. I'm just asking is he a monster that's all just asking the question. I mean I really like the parcel of terror. Yeah, so I mean I really like the parcel of terror. Yeah. So like I'm not saying anything about that. How can these people get the parcel of terror? They would go to Cryptocurium.com. It's CRYPTO, C-U-R-I-U-M. And you can see what's going to be in each month's parcel of terror before you get it. It's 35 bucks a month. And you can also him just like making stuff in his process, which is super cool. Yeah, I highly recommend people joining the
Starting point is 00:51:08 order of the Thin Vale as well, which is the tiered system celebrating Halloween where you get awesome Halloween theme things from Jason and Sam Heimer.
