Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey Katie. Hey Alan. You want to go to space? Ehh. Want to go space with me? Nah. You want to go to a prison asteroid? No.
Starting point is 00:00:12 You want to go to a prison asteroid run by a manacles, like a marshmallow in a wheelchair? You want to go to space with me? You want to go to a prison asteroid run by a manacles like a marshmallow in a wheelchair? Well, you mean that Star Trek, the next generation thing, I'm just like putting something on their forehead. Welcome to another episode of WhereWolf Ambulance. I'm Gatie. I'm Alan. Hey! Hey! Hey! We're here to talk about 1986 film, critters. Indeed. You know, like Gremlins, but different. It's Gritters.
Starting point is 00:00:50 They claim that it was written before Gremlins came out. I was supposed to say Kremlin's, but I guess that's probably a different movie. Cremlins. Yeah, it's when Arnold Schwarzenegger was a Russian spy that was had to go and fight his way back out of America. Cremlins. Oh, no, that was had to go and fight his way back out of America. Kremlins. Cremlins. Oh no that was Red Heat. Oh no that was running man. Oh no no that was kindergarten cock. It's gonna say kind of garden... Throw it! Can I get you excited before we start talking about this movie? Please? This movie was the special effects were done by the Chiodo brothers. Of killer clowns from outer space. Yes. Love that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that that was that was that was that that that that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was th. that was th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that was th. that was th. th. that was th. that was th. th. that was th. th. that was that was the. theat. theat. theat. theat. that was the. that was that was that was that was that was that was the. the. that was the effects were done by the Chiodo brothers of Killer Clowns from outer space. Yes. Love that movie, love those guys. So now I've put this
Starting point is 00:01:28 movie in the Killer Clowns verse. Yeah for sure. Even like the character of Charlie feels like he lives there. Yeah yeah for sure. And he's like friends with the ice cream brothers. And yeah god, it's so good. We should have watched Killer Clowns again. Yeah, yeah. Would have been a better use of my 299? But you wouldn't have seen Billy Zane with a sick-ass ponytail. He has the most punchable face in Hollywood.
Starting point is 00:01:56 Would you agree or disagree? I disagree? You disagree? Yeah, he's so punchable. He always plays like kind of a dick. You know,'s like, uh, you know, the Titanic guy. Yeah, I was gonna say you're still mad at him for Titanic. I am. I am.
Starting point is 00:02:08 Although, he had every reason to believe the Kate Winslow was committed to him. That's all. Paint me like one of your French girls? Sure. So punchable. There's a German word for a face desperately in need of a punch. I forget what it is. Shouting, Punchin'? Yep. Kremlin's. No, different country. So this is a movie about a bunch of little monsters that land on earth and roll around and chomp people.
Starting point is 00:02:38 Like, the first, very first fucking thing. You're in space. My first note says, oh good, space. I didn't warn you about space. I wanted you to go into it blind. They are talking about, it's a radio transmission. Of how these crites are being brought to a prison asteroid. And they were supposed to be 10 of them. But they had to kill two to keep the food supply level. And I was like, well, this got dark very quickly.
Starting point is 00:03:05 So that leaves eight of them, right? Yeah. Why are there 75 of them later? Yep. What? I was instantly angry. So they get off the prison ship that they're on. They hijack it, they get off the prison, asteroid I should say.
Starting point is 00:03:26 Oh, right, right, right. Which is run by Warden Zanti. Sure, fine. It looks like a marshmallow. That's the guy with the Star Trek expedition thing on his forehead, yeah. It does look like a marshmallow. They call in some bounty hunters. Who have smooth faces.
Starting point is 00:03:42 And I thought, I don't know for sure, but I feel like in the X files when they have the bounty hunters whose faces are all their, I wondered if that was Chris Carter referencing this, which I would not be surprised. No, not at all. It has a plot point in the X files as to why they have no like facial features, but I sort of feel like it was a hat tip to this. Do they also wear a finger finger finger finger finger finger finger finger finger finger finger finger finger finger finger finger finger finger finger finger finger f f f f f f f f f f th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I have th. I have th. I have tho have to have thi thi. I have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have th. I have th. I have th. I have th. I have th. I have th. I have th. I have th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I have th. I th. I th. I to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to have to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to Do they also wear a fingerless glove and have totally human fingers? Probably. They're so like, they're so 80s now in their bounty hunter uniforms.
Starting point is 00:04:13 It's so great. Before they become Johnny Steel. Oh, this movie is so 80s. Oh, it's painfully 80s. Like even just when the mom is like, Brad, April I was like, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi's thi's thi., thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. thi's thi. thi. thi. 80s. Like even just when the mom is like Brad April, I was like, oh my god, those 80s names, you know what I mean? And the mom is D. Wallace, which is the most 80s mom you can have? She's the mom and everything, right? ET, this. Eti and this have the sun that's trying to get out of school by heating up the thermometer. Yeah, 10 and 6 and 6 6 6 6 6 6 6 6 6 6 6 6. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah, 106 degrees. Yeah, DeWall, she's great. I love her. She's great. She was in the howling. She was going to say she's great in the howling. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So as you can imagine, the Crites land in bucolic middle America. So Kansas. Oh, so beautifully. I feel like a lot of shots of this are references to close encounters of the third kind too. Oh, really? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, the. Yeah, the. Yeah, the. they. the they. the they. the they. the the they. the the they. they. they. the the they. the they. they. the they. they. Yeah, they. Yeah. th. th. th. the they. the the. the. the. the. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I'm. to close encounters of the third kind too. Oh really? Yeah, I just watched that recently and so it's fresh in my mind but I feel like a lot of the shots of like the road and like the ship going over the road.
Starting point is 00:05:13 Okay. I don't know. What the 10 minute credit sequence where they could just keep showing water pumps and mailboxes? That might be. That was my favorite like padding that happens in this movie? They had they? Yeah. They they? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? they? they they they they the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their? Yeah? th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They had to get it beyond 82 minutes or whatever it is. So we meet Brad and April and D. Wallace mom and dad who's got a bowling competition coming up which is also the most 80s dad thing you can do. Did you love their Ghostbusters bowling pin shirts? Oh, I have the picture brought up to show you in case you missed it. I did not. I did not. But it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it it. It it. It it. It it. It doesn't it. It doesn't it. It doesn't. It doesn't. It doesn't. It doesn't. It doesn't. It doesn't. It doesn't. Oh, I have the picture brought up to show you in case you missed it. I did not. I did not. But it doesn't say like pinbusters on it or anything.
Starting point is 00:05:50 It doesn't have to. It shouldn't have to. You get the idea. Sure, this is 1986. Ghostbusters 1984. the toobey. Didn't it? It should have, it didn't. I don't think it did on my leg. It did on your leg. Um, did you see dad drinking coffee? No. Oh, dad was drinking coffee and started pouring honey into the coffee and I was like.
Starting point is 00:06:12 Are you sure wasn't tea? That's good? No, it was coffee. Oh, wow. Huh. It's like, when that? You know, I mean, it's just sugar, right? Like, and it goes good in hot drinks. It does. Huh. Give it a try.
Starting point is 00:06:26 Report back. Let's see you guys a little bit. How was it? It was delightful. That's on to it. You literally no time has passed. That was not a trick of media. We literally did not edit that. I'll put in a bit no noise noise, no. Do it anyway. You can fool them, but you can't fool me.
Starting point is 00:06:45 I've been sitting here. So we meet Charlie, after we meet the family, who's the UFO nut. Yeah, the washed up baseball pitcher. Town drunk. The sheriff, Emmett Walsh. We love him. And then we meet the bounty hunters and they get like a reference thing for Earth and they just kind of like fast forward through all of it until the guy finds a picture of Johnny Steel or a music video of Johnny Steel playing Power of the Night Time is on fire.
Starting point is 00:07:14 The lyrics are terrible. Their spinal tap level except they're for real. His hair is Tina Turner perfect. He looks fantastic. He's got a Tim Curry feel to him. Does does does the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the guy the guy. the guy. the guy. He's the guy. He's the guy. He's the guy. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's t. He's t. He's t. He's t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. the t. th. the's got a Tim Curry feel to him. Does, does, agree. Mix a little bit with the guy who, uh... It's the eyes that have heavy lids on the top and the bottom. Do you know what I mean? I do, the Susan surrendered eyes. He also reminds me a bit of the guy that you thought looked like Brian from Wings in Warlock. He's got like that guy's kind of vibe to him as well. Brian for Wings was in that movie.
Starting point is 00:07:52 I'm missing you Brian from Wings. How you doing Brian from Wings, get in touch. So he decides to make himself look like the most popular rock star on TV from what we can tell because he's on TV on earth all the time. Yeah. And mom's watching it and getting a little bit of a titter off of it, not a titter. Whoa. What is a titter? She's, she gets a little bit of like a, uh huh. Yeah, she's watching him. Very handsome. Thrusty. I do love the bounty hunter's transformation into Johnny Steel where like his like fake face melts away and then there's just a
Starting point is 00:08:32 skull that fills up with blood and it looked great. It really did. It really did. Teodor Brothers, you're nailing it. All of my notes are just about really inconsequential things like like Billy Zane's license plate thing that says I don't give a shit what your other car is. Did you notice it? It was like the the vanity plate holder. You talk about Steve from New York? Billy Zane so fucking punchable and how like I want the police poster that's hanging in Brad's room. Yeah looks great looks cool. Billy Zane's ponytail is so... It's just the coquiest 80s ponytail. And he's like a high school student.
Starting point is 00:09:09 Yeah. Who's dating April, the daughter of the family? Who is everything you would imagine? A character named April and an 80s movie would be. She was just missing the side ponytail. She has the same braid as her mom at the beginning, though, which fine. So Charlie gets released at a prison. Or not prison, he was not in prison.
Starting point is 00:09:31 It gets released to the town drunk tank. Yeah. M. M. M. M. at Walsh. Which I was like, oh, good. I'm glad that M. Emmett Walsh. M. Emmett Walsh. One more time. M. Emmett Walsh. Just for good measure. And so Charlie works at the farm with dad of the bowling shirt.
Starting point is 00:09:53 And he, but he's shirking his responsibilities and he and Brad are blowing shit up on the farm? Yeah. Why wasn't Brad in school? Because the April shows up at the Brad in school? I guess he was sick. But he wasn't making him go to school. Because April shows up at the house from school, which Brad was supposed to be at. And Charlie shoots her in the butt with a slink shot. Yeah, his dad's even like, you missed the school bus you're going to be in trouble. He doesn't go.
Starting point is 00:10:19 No. He's Brad. And why shouldn't he? He's Brad. So Charlie shoots April in the butt with a slingshot. April chases Brad because she thinks that he did it. And then he takes the blame for Charlie so Charlie so that doesn't get fired. Right.
Starting point is 00:10:35 Because I'm pretty sure if you shoot your employee's daughter or your employer's daughter you're gonna lose your job. It's kind of the end of the line for you, yeah. Especially when you didn't have that carburetor that he wanted. I didn't catch that at all. I did not understand what Charlie was doing there, nor did I care. So Steve comes over and they have a family dinner? Yeah. Where everyone's drinking milk milk with dinner and it kind of made me like, well I don't want milk with dinner. I feel like that's a very th one I don't I don't I don't I don't I don't I don't I don't I don't I don't I don't I don't I don't I don't I don't I don't I don't I don't I don't I don't I don't I don't I don't I don't I don't I don't go I don't want I don't want I don't want I don't want I don't want one one one one one one one one one one one one milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk milk. I don't one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one one that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's that's a that's that's a that's that's that's. I don't that's. I don't that's. I don't that's not that's not that's not that's not that's not I feel like that's a very 80s conceit though. It is. The milk council was really hitting it hard back then. They were. I also thought, I got confused earlier in the movie and I thought that Charlie was her, April's former boyfriend that was only into hog farming. And I was like, what the fuck?
Starting point is 00:11:19 And then I realized I had made a terrible mistake. It was like like like Richard Richard Richard Richard Richard Richard Richard Richard Richard Richard Richard Richard like like Richard Richard Richard Richard, like Richard, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, that that that that that that that's like, that's like, that's like, that's like, that's like, that's like, that's like, that's like, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that. that. that. that. that. that. that, that, that. that, no. that, no. that, no. that, no. I that that that that that that that that that's, no. I that's that's that's like, no. I that's like, no. that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's like, no. that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's mistake. It was like Richard or something. So April and Steve sneak off to the barn. Sneak by parking his car like 10 feet away? 10 feet away? It's clearly visible from the house. Here's a hot tip, you guys. If you can see something from where you're standing, someone in that spot can probably see you. It's just common sense. April does not get this.
Starting point is 00:11:52 No, she's full view of the house. She's single-minded right now, though. Yeah, pull the car up 15 feet and you're clear. Parking on the fucking other side of the... Honestly, it's three-dimensional. So, Steve, New York Steve and April start making out. Sure. Steve's allergic to hay.
Starting point is 00:12:20 Because he's from the city. It's from the city. Uh, Brad's being punished because he's shot April in the butt and dad brings him up a plate of food that he discards and gives to the cat. Chewy. And I'm like, that cat ain't gonna eat corn on the cob. What are you doing? Also that cat did not get sent to a bed without dinner.
Starting point is 00:12:41 I'm sure his bowl of brown cereal is just downstairs, you know. And that was when I was like, oh, Chui's gonna get eaten, isn't he? Yeah. Yeah. And then a spaceship land. Yeah. And Charlie sees it and bugs out. Right. And so he tries to sneak out to go see it. Brad sneaks out. Oh, Brad sneaks out. See, I can't keep, I don't know who Charlie is. Dad also sees something and he's like going off to look at the, this thing that's landed near them as well. And that's when he finds Brad sneaking out. So Brad and dad go. Yeah. To the UFO, but they find a mutilated cow. Yeah. Which I liked. Yeah. And like, the dad isn't too concerned with Brad seeing it. He's like looks like one of the herd like that you, he's a small child. And this thing is bloody and ripped apart. I guess that's farm life. Yeah, you're used to this sort
Starting point is 00:13:38 of life. Yeah. They also miss. Well, maybe this feeds into the storyline because maybe dad would not have noticed the car. Because he did not notice the spout the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the to the the cow. Yeah. Yeah. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. No. the the the the the the the to the the the to to to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. to. to. to. to. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. tow. tow. tow. towar. towar. tow. tow. tow. tow. tow. tow. tow. towar. towar. the. towar. the into the storyline because maybe dad would not have noticed the car because he did not notice the spaceship that was 15 feet away from the cat. Right. Really not that observant. Maybe his peripheral visions real shit. Could be. So the critters that we haven't really seen yet start like they
Starting point is 00:14:05 you hear them talking yeah and they're like they like to swear a lot which I really enjoy. They're adorablely vogue. And they roll to move around they roll up like a like a popl. Yeah a popple. I was gonna say like a Sonic the Hedge but I like a popl so much better. Here's a fine timely reference of a Popple for you. I had a Popple that I really loved. It was a soccer ball. Oh, they're so great and they were cool. They were cool. Popple should come back. Come on Poples. Are you a Popple get in touch. No. No. Teddy Rucks' been terrifying. Didn't you have a story about having like a knockoff Teddy Rucksman? Skippy scribbles. He would always get all fucked up and be like, ah, ha, ha, ha, ha, ha.
Starting point is 00:14:53 Fibby scribbles, he was remixing. He was on the ones and twos. Skippy scribbles. I had a pop'em, not a bubble. All hell starts breaking loose because these critters are running around. There should be only eight of them. That's all I want to say. How did you feel about them shooting poison darts out of their back? Cute.
Starting point is 00:15:16 Yeah, it was great. I like that. Like quills. They don't kill you. They're just like tranquilize your darts. Yeah, seemingly. It's like a snake bite, they give you the venom and then they can start go gobblingy down. Is that how snakes work? That's the bites kills you.
Starting point is 00:15:31 It paralyzes you and then they can go gill. Fucking, they're fucking. with them and their no legs. Are you freaked out by snake? I hate a snake. I hate it. Everybody hates a snake, come on. Sounds like we're gonna do anaconda at some point. Yeah, Jalo. I would love to do a second J-Lo movie. So dad finds one of the critters in the basement, and it attacks him.
Starting point is 00:16:03 This is where we first see like a full-on critter, see what their mouth looks like and all. And they look fantastic. They are like half cute, half monsters, which I think is perfect. Yeah, 100% and it's so, and that is another thing that's so 80s. Oh yeah. And the gremlins are the same way, or the ghoulies as well, which would have have have have the movie th be a th be a th be a thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, theeeeeea.ea.ea.ea.ea.ea. And, thea.ea. And, thea. And, thea, thi, thi, which would have been a movie that came on like 85, which was a bunch of little monster puppets that were like coming out of toilets and biting people. I don't think I ever saw that. Oh, it's, it's this movie, right? It's this movie, basically.
Starting point is 00:16:33 It's a rough watch, but it's a slow burn for a puppet movie. That's a hard, that's a hard, that's a hard, that, the hard, the're supposed to. I'm not buying that I don't think. It's the citizen Kate of puppet. So dad gets attacked and they get him back into the house after the, I was just gonna say after he beats off the critter, but that's just jails right onto the critter's face. It's so gross. Two weeks in a row, too much. They managed to get it off of him. Yeah. And then we see that Billy that that that they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they that that that the. that the. that that that that that that that that that the the the the their just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they they they they they they they they they they they managed. they managed. they managed. they they they they they they they they they they they they they th. they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they managed to get it off of him. Yeah. And then we see that Billy Zane gets attacked in the barn and that critter ledges on to his tummy. Yeah. It starts, he's the only death in this movie, isn't he? There are two humans killed on screen. Okay. I can't remember who the other one is right. Maybe someone at the church? Hmm. There's definitely another human kill on screen but I can't th. I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the. the. the is thi. thi. theateat is theat is thoomb- thoombunnenejjjjjou thuuu. Yeah. Starting point is 00:17:28 Yeah. Oh yeah, that's probably it, right? Yeah. And then there's the, uh, did you know the receptionist? Have you seen insidious? Yeah. The receptionist is like the psychic ghost whisperer from Insidious.
Starting point is 00:17:45 Well, her making movies. Having a long career. So yeah, now just all hell is breaking loose and like they're having to keep like killing these critters or at least like hitting them and making them run away. They're like jumping in the toilet. It's like very, just, ah. Brad makes his own fireworks. Yeah, Brad has like troublesome problems, I would say. He's a 12 year old boy in the 80s.
Starting point is 00:18:10 I guess so, yeah. I remember emptying shotgun shells out to make fireworks out of them. That's distressing. You're lucky you have all of your fingers. I am. Oh my god, if you knew half the stupid shit I did when I was a kid. Uh, bottle rockets, you can just cut off the stem and drop them into a bottle and they'll shoot out, right? No, they'll actually explode the bottle. Yeah, that sounds like a good way to lose an eye. We're real dumb. Why would you cut the thing off? Because we're super stupid kids. I don't know, I don't know. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. their. th. thu. their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their. their. their. their. their. their. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to. to. to. tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. go faster if it doesn't have the stick. Sure, it's weighing it down. Brad feeds a firework to one of the critters.
Starting point is 00:18:50 I love it. Which is pretty funny. Yeah. And dad's been shooting them and making them explode. Yeah. But he's straight up runs out of ammunition, which it would never happen. the shotgun shells we have. Like, no, you don't have that, you have way more than that. Can we talk about the church scene? Please. So they, the bounty hunters show up at the church.
Starting point is 00:19:13 Yeah. As Johnny Steele and I think at that point, he's Jerry. Yeah. And the, we like cut to the scene in the church and a woman is just playing like a dissident note on an organ like, wah! And they're like, thank you, Miss Grubner. I'm like, just great job Miss Grubner. And the priest is like, or the revered or whatever is like, tonight we're going to talk about Sodom and Gomorrah. And like an old lady goes, he he he. Yeah, that's no, why would would th you that, why would that's that's that's the, why, why, why, why, why, why, that, the, that, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. And, th. And, th. And, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, we, th. th. We, we, we, we, we, th. We, we're, th. We, we, th. We, we, we, we, th. th. We, th. th. th. th. th. would you giggle at that? And then that turns out that the church is built out of balsa wood.
Starting point is 00:19:49 Because it crumbles like fucking popsicle stickhouse. I love that the bounty hunter just show up and go, where are the crites? Yeah. No one knows what you're talking about. And then the one who can't decide on a face on a face on a face on a face on a face on a face on a face on a face on a face on a face on a face on a face on a face on a face on a face on a face on a face on a face on a face on a face on a face on a face on a face on a face on a face on a face on a face the face the face the face the face the one who can't decide on a face whose Jerry currently just start shooting everything up. Why? The bounty hunters don't make any fucking sense. Because they seem to have the intelligence that they need to maneuver earth.
Starting point is 00:20:14 Yeah. But not enough to just like negotiate. Do you kind of wish they'd gotten an actual rock star to play Johnny Steele? 100%? No, no disrespect to play Johnny Steel. 100%. No, no disrespect to Terrence Man. Get Jean Simmons in there. He wasn't a ton of 80s movies. Yeah. Well, I mean, that's what I'm saying.
Starting point is 00:20:32 It's not that far-fetched. And he would have been an asshole. Sure. No disrespect to Terrence man. But it just like, it was like, why is this happening? This is really weird. So they, yeah, they like destroy the church. Yeah. And but that's it, right? Well, the, the, the,
Starting point is 00:20:51 Bounding Hunter who was Jeff changed his face into the preacher right in front of everybody. So they're bugging out. But they don't like get anything useful out of the church. It's just a scene to show. It's just padding to be like we got to fill this movie. They're just going from place to place like they go to the bowling alley next and go to the bar and shoot that up. Yeah, that's a really long scene of nothing too. Yeah, it's just like fights and shoot them up. Yeah. It's got the requisite like the the requisite like towar. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the theynenenenenenenenenenenenenenenenenenenenenenenenenenenenenenene. the baroolin. the barolinnecks. the baronyonynecks. toli. toli. to'a. to'a. the barolin. the baro'a coming for this family. Yeah. Our family. Yeah. For no real reason. They definitely have a vendetta against them now. For no real real reason. Like, I remember when we did the pumpkin head episode, we talked about how a pumpkin head had a real fuck you attitude. I feel like the critters also
Starting point is 00:21:38 have a super fuck you attitude. And they literally say fuck you to people. And they literally say, fuck you to people. Yeah, it's true. They have no motivations. They have no cause for what they're doing. They're just hungry. But they don't really seem to eat you either. Well, they are eating the chickens at one point, which is pretty hilarious. We're all eating the chickens, Alan. That's what chickens are for. There's the one great sea where the two critters are talking, and the one goes, they've got weapons, and the other one goes, who gives a fuck?
Starting point is 00:22:07 And then the one who said they've got weapons gets exploded. They go, fuck. That's what it was, he's like, so what? They have weapons, so what? So what? That's pretty funny. It's pretty funny. really good like killer clowns level comedy in this even though it's not directed by them or anything but it's just like got that good like it's not nearly as funny it's gonna call it's I am O that's that means in my opinion oh I am
Starting point is 00:22:31 H O in my happy opinion my humble opinion namastay namastay find your zen alan so harve the sheriff M emet Emmett Walsh, is, uh... Ding, ring that bell. Is woke it up to being told that the entire town's going to shit. Yeah, he like just disappears for a big chunk of the movie. He's just sleeping. Just having a little nabby, nap.
Starting point is 00:22:59 Let's just think about being a blade runner. The new one? No, the old one. Is he dead? I don't know, maybe. Probably. If he's not the new blade runner, he's probably dead. Is Edward James almost in the new one? Is he dead? I don't think so. And then he's probably in it. I have the note D. Wallace is killing it as mom. She's just screaming, she's just screaming. their threat. their that. their, D. the tho, D. tho, D. tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, tho, their, their their their their, their, their, their, if their, if the new, if the new, if the new, if the new, if the new, if, if, if the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. th. th. the. the the the the the the the the the the. the. the. the but she's also like, who is that? Like it's your daughter who's like, they hear April screaming. She's like, what is that? It's your daughter? Well, she can't see the car where they drove out to the barn. She's supposed to know that I don't know. I don't know. So it turns out that they have to get barricaded into the house because the critters is going going nuts. And so the only person who can run away is Brad. Right, on his little bike.
Starting point is 00:23:46 And we've also found out that the more the critters eat, the larger they get. Oh really? Or at least one of them does. OK, I ran out of the budget on that one. Because remember, at one point, like, they're boarding up. They're boarding up the windows. at one point one walks by the second story window. That was a critter. I just, I was like, oh look, Sasquatch is here. It's Harry and the Hendersons all of a sudden.
Starting point is 00:24:08 Holy shit, what if there was just a Sasquatch, but it's not talked about it all? Yeah. What if it was Harry and what it was? the house gets a today? And then, as soon as Bradd the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the house the house the house the house the house the house the house the house the house the house the house the house the house the house the house th th. th. th. th. the house the house the house the house the house the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the is is is thea is thea is just just just just just just just just just just was was thraughea. theatseatseats. theatseats. theats. theats. theats. theats. theats. theats. theats. the window and grabs April and runs off with them. Doesn't eat her. No, they're just kidnapping her and taking her on the ship. Why? Because they are, because they do. They have no, literally no motive. No motivation. They're an unpredictable, there's no way to like, there's nothing.
Starting point is 00:24:42 Yeah. It's literal nonsense. It's literal nonsense. It's literal nonsense. So Brad grabs his giant stick of dynamite. After, oh, he meets up with the bounty hunters. And he gets in the cop car with him. And I was like, oh my god, everything's going to shit. You guys got to help. He doesn't think it's weird that Jerry, the cop is hanging out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out.
Starting point is 00:25:03 It doesn't think it's weird that Jerry the cop is hanging out with Johnny Steel or wearing this bizarre outfit that a woman describes as really funny clothes like they was from Los Angeles. I did love that line of time. This does not seem off putting to Brad. He's fine, but he just needs help. So they go back to the house and the bounty hunters are like destroying the critters. That plumbing repair bill is going to be for serious. And then they go out to the ship where April's been taken to. Is this before after Charlie
Starting point is 00:25:33 runs into Brad on his bike even though it's like in a wide open field just just tea bones him. I think it's after because Charlie is now like with the party. Right right and they go to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the to the to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. thea. thuu. tea. tea. tea. tea. tea. tea. tea. the the the the the the the the the the the the is now like with the party. Right, right, right. And they go to the ship to get April back out, because that's what you gotta do. And mom and dad stay behind, because dad's like, mom's been drugged and dad's super fucked up. Yeah, she got it with a blowdart. Yeah, well, in the neck.
Starting point is 00:25:56 They get April out of April out of the ship. But it's not lit when it goes in. Yeah, right right. Luckily Charlie's an alcoholic Because now they can make a maltof cocktail out of his whiskey bottle from his pocket Despite him having broken it earlier if you recall So he's got that was earlier. Yeah He has such good aim with throwing this maltose. Oh, he's amazing. Just like thin right in there So it goes into the ship the ship the ship takes off goes to their house?.??? their their house their house their house their house their house their house their house their house their house their house their house their house their house their house their house their house? their house? their house their house their their their their their their their their their to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their house. their house. their house. their house. their house. their their their house. their their their their their their their their their their their toooo. toecoa. toe. goes into the ship, the ship takes off, goes to their house, where the fellives, and blow it up. Fucking the laser.
Starting point is 00:26:32 Because they're dicks. Why, they're just fucking dicks. A real fuck you attitude. Space dicks. That's a movie. I don't think you want to watch that movie. Isn't that the Star Wars parody? Space Dix? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:50 I never saw it. Isn't Mel... Oh, you're thinking of Space Balls. Not Space Dix. Is that Mel Brooks? I would live in a world. Yes, I want to live in a world. Well, Melbook's called that movie Space Dix and not Space Balls. I just have never seen it because I know I wouldn't get the jokes.
Starting point is 00:27:09 No, it's just Mel Brooks jokes. You'd get them. Oh, okay. They're just stupid poopy, poopy jokes. I love stupid poopy jokes. You know, there's one point where he gets transported al-a-o'a-o'-o'-o'-o'-o'-o'-o'-o'-o'-o'-n'-n'-n'-n'-n'-n'-n'-n'-n'-n'-n'-n'-n'-n's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I'm. I'm. I'm just. I's. I's. I'm just-I's. I'm just... I'm just... I'm just... I'm just... I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's it wrong and his head's on backwards. That's funny. And he looks and he goes, why didn't anyone ever tell you my ass is so big? That's so funny. See now you ruin that joke for me?
Starting point is 00:27:32 You're not going to watch baseball. And they probably won't. I saw Star Wars. Okay. One of them. Two of them. They keep coming on on Christmas, you know? No, they won't stop. Yeah, they're just piling them on. They're literally, people are going apoplectic about the new Star Wars trailer. Are they?
Starting point is 00:27:49 I haven't seen any, I just can't even. And so it's a space movie. Sorry, guys. Are they mad? Oh, they're so happy. Oh, good. I'm glad. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. they're they're. they're. they're they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. I. I. I. I. I. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they. they. they. they. they. they're. they're. they're. they're they're th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. they're they're they're they're they're they're they're, just watch the original if you're so fucking mad. No, he ruined it. He ruined it. Oh, my God.
Starting point is 00:28:10 I'm so sick of people saying that new things are ruining old things. That is literally not how it works. Do you know what I mean? It's literally not how it works. It's true. You still have the old thing. Did anyone take it from you? No, you have an un-fucking Blu-ray?
Starting point is 00:28:28 Count your goddamn blessings. That reminded me of someone's tweet when people were talking about the tearing the statues down of the Confederate soldiers and they were worried about history being erased. And someone tweeted, those people worried about history being a race will be very excited to hear about books. Right? Oh my God. Anyway, so they blow up the house. Yeah, for no fucking reason. And now Johnny Steele, bounty hunter is Brad's best friend.
Starting point is 00:28:55 Yeah, they're like a cute little buddy comedy. And gives him a little beeper thing. I think it's supposed to look technologically advanced. It looks like a tiny Simon, if you recall, Simon. I do, always thwarted me. Yeah, it's hard. Oh, God, it would speed up and you're like, well, I don't understand. And then you're like, why do I care?
Starting point is 00:29:14 Oh, this is a game? Yeah, this is dumb. I'm just going to go listen to Metallica. Yeah. Probably play with GIGs. That's the bounty hunters are like, all right, well we're all done here. See you guys later, because they take the head of one of the creditors to take back to collect their bounty from Warren Zanty. Warren Zanty. You know, is that his where Wolf's London?
Starting point is 00:29:39 Yes. From Warden Zanti, as they're leaving, Charlie, or Brad clicks the little thing, and then they fixed their house. Yeah, I liked that. I mean, it's stupid as hell, but I liked the way that it would just like backwards went together. Yeah, it looked cool. It reminded me of a when Christine gets all like undented.
Starting point is 00:29:59 See, now I don't like it anymore. Oh, Christine. That was a cool scene and everything with God that fucking movie. I really love that car. So yeah, it's a happy ending. Everybody's back and Chewy is still alive at the end of the movie. He's in the mailbox. It would be.
Starting point is 00:30:19 Yeah. Also, their house also appeared to be made of Balasawood. You've got cat. But... Sorry, I had it. I had to go. You were just still thinking about Tom Hanks in his 1 1996 film, You've Got Cat. He and Meg Ryan adopt a cat. What would probably watch?
Starting point is 00:30:42 Yeah, actually that sounds charming and beautiful and I bet I would like it Were there like a series of romantic comedies like must love dogs must love cats? Oh probably. Here's the romantic comedy? I have. Yeah, I have. You might know that my partner is a huge fan of romantic comedies. I had no idea. Yeah, that seems unlikely She likes a romantic comedies. And a rocket man. A movie Rocketman? Do you remember that film? Uh-uh. It's a Disney film from like 1990 something about a idiot who goes into space and farts into space suit a lot? No. I watch that the same weekend I watched Good Burger. Oh my goodness. What a wonderful weekend you had. Which is another favorite film of Missies.
Starting point is 00:31:27 That one's like romantic comedy too, between Keenan and Gail. I haven't seen a romantic comedy in a long time. I think I'm okay with that. Yeah, I'm not a fan. Well, why do they have to kiss, you know? I watched love actually over Christmas? I watched love that. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. thoen thooom. thoom. thoom. thoen tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. thea. I toea. I toea. I toea. I toea. toea. I thea. thoooooooooo.'s a pile of fucking garbage. People love it though. I know. It's a Christmas? I hate Christmas. I hate love, so it's like not for me. Rob keeps telling me that now that we've had a child,
Starting point is 00:31:51 I'm gonna love Christmas. And we've like been in a huge fight. Because I don't think we should pretend like Santa Claus exists. You're lying, you're lying to a child. And Rob's like, eh, it's magic. It's not fucking magic. It's a lie. It's a lie about someone trespassing in your home. Do you know what I mean? It's so glorious when you were a kid, though. No, I never had it.
Starting point is 00:32:15 Oh, no? I don't think so. I think I was born to leave cookies and carrots out. So why would Santa want carrots? You didn't, the reindeer wanted carrots. That's dumb. No it wasn't, it was fucking magical and I loved it. How did you find out there was no Santa Claus? Somebody at school told me. Oh, were you upset?
Starting point is 00:32:34 Or did you like half? No, I think I like kind of suspected it because my parents were like a little sloppy by getting stuff out on time. But it's like January 3rd, they're like, oh, Santa just got here. Oh, shit, dog, I'm sorry. Why is your, why is your dad ice cube? Oh, so that's critters. Do you think it's fucked up to not tell your kid that there's a Santa Claus? No, it's not fucked up to do either? No, it's fucked up to lie to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to their. Oh. Oh, to to to to to to to to their their their. Oh, their. Oh, their. Oh, their. Oh, their. Oh, their. Oh, their. Oh. Oh, their. Oh. Oh, their. Oh, their. Oh, their. Oh. Oh, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the thi. Oh, thi. Oh, thi. Oh, thi. Oh, thi. Oh, tho. Oh, thoooooooooooooooo. Oh, too. Oh, thaa. Oh, tha. Oh, Claus. Like do you think it's fucked up to be honest? No, it's not fucked up to do either. No, it's fucked up to lie. Okay, I disagree with that. I think it's fine to lie about then, because it's fun. What about the tooth fairy? Darkness falls. Should we do
Starting point is 00:33:17 darkness falls again? What if he was coming into your house? Yeah, go on. Oh, wait, we forgot to say that this sets up the sequel, which is the eggs that are laughing at the end of this movie in the barn. Like, of course there had to be a franchise, you know? This movie was so good, how could you not make four of them? Katie? You know? Um, this movie was so good, how could you not make four of them? Katie. Yeah. Find someone who makes you laugh as much as a critter egg makes another critter egg laugh.
Starting point is 00:33:51 I could never dream to be so happy. Oh, critter eggs. They, apparently they hatched the critters. Yeah, yeah, yeah, of course they did. They're round. They're round. Like chickens, just round. I mean, it's like they took their heads and they're totally round. Sure, like Popples. Oh boy. I mean, that was the movie. I think you know what needs to happen now, Katie. No. We need to rate this fuck. All right, let's do it. Can I go first. th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th. th. th. th. We need to rate this fucker. All right let's rate it. Let's do it. Can I go first? Please. This is just every other 80s movie you've ever seen in your life? Yeah. I literally already don't remember it. I'm gonna give it a five because it's just just, it's everything. It's just I don't even, it's, it's, blah. It's just, I don't even, it's, it's, it's, it's just, I. It's. It's. It's. It's just. It's just. It's just, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, I. It's, I. It's, I. It's, I. It's, I. It's, I. It's, I. It's, I.
