Starting point is 00:00:00 Is this because I said single white female was an erotic thriller? No, it's because you love Days of Thunder. Oh, Tony, Tony, I see Tony Todd. No, that's Candy, that's Candy, man. Tony, Tony Scott, huh? Yeah, same director, it's just the same movie. It's pretty much same thing, Days with Thunder. Top Gun, same movie, Same Movie, Fucking the Hunger. It's his first movie. It's a movie about cheekbones and onks.
Starting point is 00:00:35 And just like long, tepid silences. I'm Alan. I'm bored. I'm giddie, I guess. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. ambulance. I'm Katie I guess. We're doing a listener suggestion from Deora. Deora, I'm sure you're a lovely person. What the fuck? I mean really. I assume she knows of my love of Bow House. Yeah that's really what the the catalyst was right. Yeah yeah she was listening to Bow House. And they are in this movie or is that guy Bow House? They're the opening to this movie. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, she was listening to Bow House. And they are in this movie, or is that guy Bow House? They're the opening to this movie. That funny man staring into the chain link fence.
Starting point is 00:01:11 Yeah. That's Peter Murphy, the lead vocalist of Bow House. Super glad I'd like missed that era. You know what I mean? I was like too young in that era. I was also too young for it while it was going on because this was 1983. So I would have been nine. A little too young for this. Little too young for the club scene. Yeah. So yeah we're doing the hunger by Tony Scott starring David Bowie. Sort of starring David Bowie. He checks out about the end of Act one. Catherine De Nouve. Yeah. Susan Sarandon. Who is in a different movie for the first half?
Starting point is 00:01:47 Special guest appearance by Willem DeFoe. Willem DeFoe shows up when she's in this phone booth. That's Willem to Foe? Willem de Foe and the guy from Monkey Shines. The guy from Monkey Shines. Remember the crazy doctor guy from Monkey Shines that's doing the monkey experience? Oh no, no, no, the friend. His friend. Yeah, yeah. He's there's the the guy. There's the guy. There's the guy. There's there's there's the guy. There's there's the guy. There's the guy. There's the guy. There's the guy. There's the guy. There's the guy. There's the guy. T. T. The guy. The guy. Special. Special. Special. Special. Special. Special. The guy. A the guy. Special. Special. Special. Special. Special. Special. Special. Special. Special. Special. Special. Special. There's the guy from. the guy from. the guy from. the guy from. the guy from. the guy from. the guy from. the guy from. the guy from. the guy from. the guy. the guy from Remember the crazy doctor guy from Monkey Shines that's doing the Monkage? Oh no no no the other friend his friend yeah he there's the two guys who confront her at the the weird yeah and Shares dad from clueless. Every time you say share get in here every time you say share I think of pop singer sure as well you should just name for her oh for her. Oh of course, of course. So this is a movie about vampirism. Is it? Yeah, yeah, yeah. It's a movie about smoking. Oh, I figured you would be into that. I am into that. And onks, and monkeys and boobies. Those are all cool things, but they just, okay, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Hold on. I Hold on, I need a list of cool things again, honks, monkeys, and boobies. Smoking, boobs, monkeys, onks, incinerators.
Starting point is 00:02:51 David Bowie. David Bowie. Mispronouncing progeria, even though you presumably study it. I was blown away that there wasn't a second take on that. They were like tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho- tho- take on that. They were like, no, that's fine, progeria. No, you're right, Sue. I love that she's a doctor talking about progeria and leather pants. That is the summation of this movie.
Starting point is 00:03:13 That's all there is to say. Shit. And the thing is, you have to throw on we in there. Yeah, they're bored. I'm bored. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the, the, the, the, the, the, the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. that's is the. that's is that's thee. thee. that's is thee. thee. the. the. the. the. the. to be in there. Yeah, they're bored. I'm bored. Everyone's bored. There's a seduction scene that happens in this movie where Catherine De Nouve is seducing Susan Saranda, Sarandon or Sousa as I have her in all my notes. And she's like, so what's going on? And Susan Sarandon is like, oh I don't know. What's going on, sits down in a chair, splays her legs in the chair. I have to be honest with you, I fast forward at that scene because it was taking for ever. I don't care. You know what I mean? I don't care.
Starting point is 00:04:00 So we start off in the Gothh club where Bow House is performing and Catherine Nuneub and David Bowie, Miriam and John are picking up on to movie gotts. I was very excited about this. Yeah. And they take him home for some swinging times. Yeah. And it's very erotic right from the jump and I was like, whoa. Boobies in the first five. Don't remember it being like this and like inner thigh rubbing for a long time. And then some murders. They get stabbed with onk necklaces. With tiny little knives.
Starting point is 00:04:34 But it's so much blood. Oh, so good. And then David Bowie and home. I don't know. And their hair colors are different. I don't know. Okay, fine. Um, and then we just pick up their mundane boring-ass lives. For a while.
Starting point is 00:04:56 Just talking. They're just talking. I don't watch a horror movie for the dialogue. It's a chatty movie. David Bowie is not sleeping and growing. Yeah, I'm so sorry. Like I said, I remember. I walked into Allen's house where we record usually and I said how fucking dare you make me watch a movie about sleep deprivation. How fucking dare you? That's what I said to him. And then I remember that Diora suggested it and I thought how fucking dare you. So I, and this is what I tole I said to him. And then I remember that Diora suggested it, and I thought, how fucking dare you?
Starting point is 00:05:26 So, and this is what I told Katie, I'll love him. Please tell me again, I didn't hear it the first time. The two things that I remembered about this movie, Bough House was in the beginning of it, whom is a band that I love. their band thatie was in it. Who is a band that you loved? Yeah. And then I was out. I don't remember anything else. They're vampires. That's all I remember. I didn't even remember that it was sexy. I'm so tired. How dare you? You didn't feel like you could really identify with them as sleepy people? Am I aging five minutes every minute or whatever? Yes, I kind of am.
Starting point is 00:06:05 It's not that cool. I feel terrible. Yeah. So I have a question about that. What? So David Bowie is aging at an accelerator rate that as the movie goes on, it just keeps accelerating. And we see that happening to a monkey too in Susan Saran's lab, which is presumably
Starting point is 00:06:22 the link between the two, I guess. Why is it happening to the monkey? Because he has progeria. But it doesn't admit, like, did they do that to the monkey? Yes. But I don't know, I think they're sleep depriving him. But also, so aging is your cells breaking down, right? And so, and like, what am my a progeria expert or whatever?
Starting point is 00:06:45 Progeria? Fuck you! But the way, progeria was huge in the 80s. Like there were kids with that on TV constantly. There's like an exiles episode about it. It's like it's in a lot of 90s science fiction horror stuff. It just is. And I feel like just never hear about it anymore.
Starting point is 00:07:03 Maybe they cured progeria. So, but you're, it's your cells breaking down, but like the monkey dies? And it just keeps breaking down. Yeah, oh yeah, decomposes in mere seconds. It's like I just can't. And then you're like, why am I watching this? Where did David Bowie go? Do you know how beautiful David Bowie is?
Starting point is 00:07:25 Of course I do. What if you see beautiful David Bowie for, I don't know, five minutes of the movie, and the rest of the time he's in old man make? He looks silly AF. He's acting the fuck out of it, though. He's making the best of it. He's doing what he can. So him and his partner, Miriam are music are music, the music, the music, the music, the music, the music, are, are, the music, are, are, the music, are music, the music, are music, are music, the music, are music, are music, teachers. Hanging with a child, for sure. So the laws of vampirism in this movie that I can tell,
Starting point is 00:07:47 Miriam gets to live forever. Pretty, she gets to live forever young and attractive. And looking mildly like a Nazi. Just because her hair is perfect. Yeah. In her skirt suits. You're a music teacher if you're vampire. I know that because of the ending of the movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie the movie movie the movie movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that know that because of the ending of the movie that we'll get to. Yeah. And you're real bummed all the time and that's what I think being a
Starting point is 00:08:10 vampire would be. It's a super bummer. Yeah. It's a curse I guess or whatever. Yeah. Not like all them true blood vampires that are living it up. I don't know what that means. So much smoking, so erotic, so much spit is is what I have the three notes of a row. I mean, yeah. It's so slow. It's just so, the movie is so slow. The pacing is terrible. I watched this movie for four days, and the most action I saw was two women simultaneously crying. Please write that review and run to me.
Starting point is 00:08:49 This movie is an hour and a half long. One star. An hour and a half this movie is. It took me, it literally, I stretched this to the bitter end of my Amazon rental. It was like, you have, it was like, you have 46 minutes left to watch this movie. And they were like, fine, buckle in we're doing th th th th th th th th th th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to to th. th. th. to to to th. to to to to to to to to to to be. to be. to thi. to be. to be. I just couldn't do it It's the only this is the only time I've ever not watched part of a movie that we've done where I've just been like I can't I'm done. I've just been like I can't the double predator too. I thoult th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I've th. I've th. I've th. I've just th. I've just th. I've just th. I've just th. I've just just the double Predator too. I watched Predator. Maybe I fell asleep. You fell asleep and did not rewind.
Starting point is 00:09:27 I told sleep but not rewind. But I also had seen the riff tracks of it, so I knew what happened. Just, you know, drunk. So you did not shardinate your way out of this one? No. I like, that scene where they're talking, were she and where Miriam and Susan, the the. She needs to one the name. Sarah. Sarah. Sarah.
Starting point is 00:09:47 Sarah. And are just going on and on and on in the apartment. I fast forward to that and then I stopped and looked at it and it was still going. And I fast forward and I stopped and looked and it was still going. Like you can't be saying anything I need to know. John reveals that this has has this has this has this has this has this has this has ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha that that th th th that th th th th th thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi thi. thi. that. the. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Right. She's been a vampire for like thousands of years. Or whatever. Well, reading, she's actually an alien.
Starting point is 00:10:11 She's not a vampire. Oh, really? Yeah. And there she's something completely different than a human being. She just looks like a human being. And they found out that mixing the blood can make humans last longer. How, when? When did they find that out? Oh, no. I had to do reading on this.
Starting point is 00:10:27 It's not revealed in the film at all. So there's like additional content somewhere? I think it might just be like fan theories. Oh, my God. She, like, she has a bunch of past lovers that we hear about. And then John decays down to where where where where he where he where he to where to where he to where to where to where to where the to where to where he's just like almost nothing. After he's killed the little girl that they're giving cello lessons, or violin lessons to, what the fuck? He's trying to get that dragon, I guess. Chasing the vampire dragon.
Starting point is 00:10:58 But it's like, there's an eternal life, but not eternal youth. Right, it was what we find out. Which is a weird vampire rule that isn't in any other vampire lore. Is it? No, this is the only thing that I know that does that. I mean, but it adds like another level to the curse. Like, he got to live for 200 years as a beautiful young man. And then within a- Why, what changed?
Starting point is 00:11:22 It runs its course. No. That's apparently what they said about all the other lovers, like they get to a point and she's like, it takes about a week. And then they change. For 200 years you're cool and then for a week you go to shit? That doesn't make any fucking sense. Nothing in nature would do that. And then she puts you in a box in the attic, old lovers who are alive in boxes. Yeah. That's terrifying. Yeah, it's pretty gross.
Starting point is 00:11:45 And she says this thing, like, you will live forever in the ground, aware of where you are. And it's like, that's a nightmare. But she tells Sarah that she'll have eternal youth. Yeah, because she's a, she's a, she's a huckster. That's a hyshster. Not a huckster. I think they start the same thing. Also at this point, it fucking cares. We make up her own words. She's a boinkster. That old, blinkin' boinkster.
Starting point is 00:12:09 She's an old, tuck and roll. That's a line that Susan Sarandon says, and this may we too a monkey. Don't remember that. Sarandon says in this movie, to a monkey. I don't remember that. I probably fast-forward on it. There's a scene where the one monkey kills the other monkey because it becomes so ferocious. Ferricious.
Starting point is 00:12:34 Which has done like, it's cut with the scene of them killing the Goths of the beginning. Oh, okay. Here's a note I have written. Yeah. Remember when we did unfriended and I got so annoyed at just watching someone click around on a computer, somehow this is worse. You didn't like a movie that showed in real time David Bowie waiting for hours in a waiting room. It felt like it. It felt like it. Like, ugh.
Starting point is 00:13:05 This movie could have been a commercial. Well, apparently this was his first movie after doing commercials. Mm-hmm. Music got to stretch it out. Can't be 60 seconds. But my argument of why it could have been good is Housu is the first movie that guy did after doing a series of commercials. And that movie is amazing. I probably shouldn't mention a really great movie while we're talking about this movie. I agree.
Starting point is 00:13:34 So she's put him in a box and now she's wooing Sousa. Sarah telling her that John's gone to Switzerland. Sure. Which is basically we took the dog up to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the to the the the the the to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the. their the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the.e.e.e.e.e.e.e.e.ea.ea.ea.ea.ea.ea.ea.ea.ea.ea.ea.ea.a.a.ea.a.s.a.a.a.a.a.a. thea. thea. that John's gone to Switzerland. Sure. Which is basically, we took the dog up to your grandmother's farm. He's got to just all this land to run around on, you know. You know, did you have pets growing up? Did your parents like sugarcoat death for you like that? No, no, no, no.
Starting point is 00:14:00 Mine either. No, I had to see a bunch of them die as a bar. Why, were you killing him? You're that weird serial killer thing. I gotta go. Oh, you're the mine hunter. I remember my dog, Keisha got hit on Route 8 by car. My dad was like, oh I saw her splattered all over the road. I was like, I'm six! Ponytail motot-cker. Yeah, ponytail motherfucker is a great description.
Starting point is 00:14:26 So I have the two notes in tandem, which are erotic morning piano playing. Morning with a you. Oh, right, right. And this movie is like a 15-year-old version of feelings. It is. It's so morose. It's so over the top. Yeah, I think that's why all the Goths loved it so much. And the bellhouse isn't. So Susan Sarandon is being wooed by Miriam. She spills wine on her shirt.
Starting point is 00:14:54 I've seen that in so many movies. And then just takes her shirt off after she tries wiping it off for a little while, and then this is where the sex scene erupts. Intimacy is the real horror let's be honest. Maybe I don't understand erroneousism. I don't understand anything after our things and what was that mirror doing in the bed? There was a mirror. There was like a 12-foot mirror just stuck in the bed that wasn't there previously. I fast forwarded that scene too. Oh, you fast forwarded through the sex scene.
Starting point is 00:15:28 Yeah, why would I watch it? Did you watch it in like Benny Hill fast forward? Buh, buh, buh. Buh, bina da da, da, da, da. It's very like, shah- silks flying around and like mesh curtain. I know. What is the curtain budget? Like, you needed like an hourglass and like, um, a large open window and I just wasn't
Starting point is 00:15:55 into it. It did make me think of, I'm no, I've mentioned this on the podcast before, but the, my least favorite deaf leopard line of all time. When we make love, do you look in the podcast before, but the, my least favorite deaf leopard line of all time. When we make love, do you look in the mirror? That's what I would do, that's what I would do, but silently. Watching this picture of the person like pulling faces and then you're like, ah, ah! That's what I would do. But silently.
Starting point is 00:16:23 So they start drinking each other's blood. Because they're just going, they're going there. That's what happens when you go there. This is what happens when bodies start slapping. Yeah. Oh yeah. Oh, yeah. And then it goes to the scene that really grossed you out in Bram Circus Dracula.
Starting point is 00:16:39 They go from like the blood on their arms right to the bloody steak. Yep, yep, yep. Did it bug you out as much this time? No, because I am not in my first trimester of pregnancy and I did not throw up as I did watching Bram's Circu's Dracula. So she's out of dinner with her other boyfriend who has his name like Hank or Mac Tom. I'm gonna go with Hank. You see his balls later. What? Yeah, when he crouches down next to her in the toilet, he's just wearing a bathroom and his balls dangle. Oh my god, I did not know it. I overwhelmed that a couple times. Made up for fast forwarding earlier. Because I was like, Rob, you want to see this guy's balls? And he was like, oh yeah. Was it as good as Brian's? It's the same exact same shot, back-up-o' back back back back back back back back back back back ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba ba. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I's th. I's thi. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I's th. I's th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I I I th. I I th. I I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I's th. I's th. I's th. I's th. I's th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm to th. I'm to to to thi. I'm to to to thi. I'm thi. I'm thi. I'm thi. I'm thi. I'm th. I'm th. I have used for this podcast. Probably be bigger on iTunes. Her boyfriend's just being an asshole. Where were you for three and a half hours?
Starting point is 00:17:29 How do you have a conversation with a person for three hours? Like what? I mean, you know she's smoking while eating, which... Cool, I'm into that. He's so mad that she ordered food but isn't really hungry. Yeah, it's a doggy bag, eat it for breakfast. I don't know kick him to the curb because I figured this was a good era for kicking him to the curb. Yeah, it's a kicking him to the curb kind of era. Um, she says that Catherine De Nouve is European. She's European. And the whole time they're talking, two women are swimming in the pool next. And, uh, the the the the the the their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their their their their their their their their their their their their their their, their their their th. Yeah, thirty, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their their their, their their, their their, their their their their their their their th. Yeah, th. Yeah, the, thi. Yeah, thi. Yeah, thirty, thirty, too. Yeah, too. too. tooe. tooe. tooe. tooe. tooe. the. Yeah, the. Yeah, the. Yeah, th pool next to them and uh... Yeah what is a restaurant that overlooks a pool? I don't know but Susan Saranid is just imagining them naked
Starting point is 00:18:09 while they're swimming I was like, why are we saying this? I don't know. Again, aren't you a monkey doctor? Get it together. No, she's a proger Brigad doctor. Come the fuck on. You know who that's on, that's on Tony Todd. That is on Tony Scott. That is on Tony Scott. Do not bring Tony Todd into this? I'm sorry. You're going to say his name one more time and he's going to show up in the house. Oh no.
Starting point is 00:18:38 So with this vampirism you can be photographed but you can hail a taxi? Yeah. And you can see hail a taxi? Yeah. Yeah. And you can see yourself in mirrors, too. I mean, whatever. Although, to the movie's credit, the word vampire is never mentioned in the entire film. Oh, except maybe in the beginning song about Bill Lagosie being dead. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:01 Which reminds me I wanted to start becoming a gotth DJ, and my DJ name is Bill Lagosie's dad. I just snotted on myself. I consider that a win. That is a win. It took me really by surprise. It was either going to be that or dark wave duck.
Starting point is 00:19:18 Stick with the stick with it I want the first. Belagosies dead. So she goes to the lab and has her blood tested. At which point, I started wondering if this was like an AIDS parable. Yes, very much. No, but I wonder the same thing, but I'm like, but it's not, it's not because she's alive at the end of the movie. Spoiler alert.
Starting point is 00:19:37 Spoilers for the hunger, thinking the same, I mean it's 1983, it's like before AIDS really broke, but like... It's a disease they're working on figuring out the contamination of blood and that's how they're looking at it of like someone else's blood coming in and being a like an attacking body. Right, and monkeys being involved in the whole nine yards like, but I was like, I guess it could be because like the, I guess it could be because it's a thi. I guess it could be. It's like, I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the c. I the the th. I th. I thi. I thi. thi. the c. the c. the c. the c. the c. the c. the c. the c. the c. the c. the c. I the c. I the stuff was all about eight. And it's like it's like this one night stand you know what I mean? Dangerous sex which was like the you know. So I guess it could be if the movie like executed itself in any fashion. I wish this movie would have executed itself. Hey. I'm gonna keep setting those up. You want to keep knocking down? You throw up and I'll just out of the park. So Sarah's getting sick, so Miriam has to bring her a meal.
Starting point is 00:20:29 At this point, at the beginning of the movie, it's all blue lights. Everything is blue-lit. It looks like an old silent movie when they would put the blue filter on it. Oh yeah, yeah. But then at this point, everything turns red. It's supposed to mean something. It's the the the the thu to be to be the to be to be to be the film. to be to be the film. the film. to be tha. thuice. thuice. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thiolomea. thi. thi. tooomfewa. tooomfew. tooom. tooom. tooom. tooom. tooom. tooom. tooom. tooom. tooom. thi. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the the the. the the the the. the. the the. the. the. the the. the the.'s all about that blood. It's supposed to mean something. It's stupid. This does have the film, like the feeling of like an art film. Fine.
Starting point is 00:20:51 I mean, I do not do art film today. I'm exasperated. So Miriam goes out to get a meal for Sarah. She's like, I've got to get you a meal. And she goes out and brings and brings and brings and brings and brings, and brings, she comes, and brings, she comes, and brings, she comes, she comes, to come back, to come back, to come back, to come back, to come back, to, to, to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to me, to me, to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the, the, the, th... th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. th. th. to get a meal for Sarah, she's like, I've got to get you a meal. And she goes out and brings us... When does she come back with like a Big Mac and fries? Sarah does get offered a Big Mac earlier in the film, but she, instead she brings back like a half-ass Bill Paxton. Yeah. Who won't stop wearing his sunglasses inside? Bill Buxton. And he spits on the floor, like spits his gum out on the floor in this woman's house. I'm like, what? No one ever would do that. It's your real jerk.
Starting point is 00:21:27 And I have the nobody deserves to die after he spits his gum on the floor. And then Miriam slits his throat. Calls for Sarah. Sarah's pants are suddenly gone. She was wearing pants and to eat? Oh, full. I just don't do the belt. I can't get that freedom. The freedom of pantsless dining. Yeah. So Sarah eats the dude.
Starting point is 00:21:53 And then she's on the floor freaking out and this is when Tom... Do we see her eat him? No. They keep talking up, like, there's the implication of feedings, but we never see anyone get eaten. It's all just that stabbing with the the the and that's it. Right there's the like in this scene when Miriam is calling for Sarah she like is over the guy and she looks up at her like she's got sloppy blood face like all these movies always have to do because they fuck because vampires have no fucking table manners as we've discussed. They cannot eat without just getting all like I can eat you know what what I mean? Like just eat, get a napkin, you grosso.
Starting point is 00:22:29 I do like the idea of a vampire with a napkin. Just dabbing away, dabbing blood off searching. This is when Tom shows up after she's eat. And she's now like laying on the floor, like shaking back and forth. And Tom's like, I'm gonna fix you. I'm gonna fix everything, and puts her in the bed and then hugs her and won't let her get away from him. It's real weird. Yeah. At that point I haven't there, it says I don't care about anything, so on we. No, so you got it. I gave it to you. I think this movie is vampire on we. So she kills Tom. And then throughout the movie there's there's there's was was was was was was was there's there's there's the movie there's the movie there's there's the movie the movie there's the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. I th. th. th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm thi. I thi. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I's th. I's th. I's the. I'll the. I'll the. the. the. the. the. the. thee. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. thethroughout the movie there's been like flashbacks of Olden Times. We saw a lot of David Bowie 200 years ago when he got turned. Oh, did we?
Starting point is 00:23:09 Yeah. What was he doing? He had a little ponytail. I missed that. Yeah, and she was dressed up like a French cortison from like a weird. Weird. I didn't, come on. She's like Marie Antoinette look earlier in the movie. Oh, I didn't see that.
Starting point is 00:23:27 And then like, this is where we have the flashback of like when she got turned, I guess, or when she shows up, she's like an Egyptian? And I was like, no. But you can only tell because of her eyeliner. And she's like, she's tan-tanned- Huh? Because she is the pales, pale, pale, pale, pale, pale, pale, pale. She's porcelain skinned. Yeah. This is where I have the note, she's pretty white. And then the note, this is like Anne Rice diluted. This is like, they just took all the story out of an Anne Rice story. Because it's sad vampires. Yeah, she loves those sad vampires. Who doesn't? Oh, right. So then this, this, this, this, this is this is this is this is this is th. T This is th. Tt, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, the thi, thi, thi, the thi, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the note, the note, the note, the note, the note, the note, the note, the note, the note, the note, the note, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the thi, thi, thi, thi. thi. thi. the. the. theooooooooo. thooo. the, the, thooooo. the, the, the, the, the,. Who doesn't? All right. So then this is
Starting point is 00:24:06 where Susan Saranen stabs herself in the throat with the onk knife? Well they're having like a weird intimate moment. Yeah they're making out and she stabs herself in the throat. I guess. Why did she do that? She doesn't want to live anymore. But she's already been turned. She's just been told that she'll live. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. the th. the th. th. the to live the the to live to live the the th. to live the th. to live to live th. told. told. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S she'll live forever. Right. Well it's a little lay now. So Mariam takes her upstairs to put her in the lover's storage? Sad boxes, yeah. And all the former lovers are out of their sad boxes. Yeah. And they're all like Michael, Jackson thriller video zombied out. Yes. Why? I guess because something with Susan Saran and killing herself has like thrigger video zombied out. Yes, why? I guess because something with Susan Saranam and killing herself has like triggered this thing
Starting point is 00:24:50 where they're all like rising up against her. And they push her off the stairwell. This house is a thousand stories tall, by the way. And she falls all the way down and then hits the floor. She just wiggles back and forth for a while. And as she th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thus thus, thus, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thr, thr, thrown, thri, thri, thri, thri. and thri's thri's thri's thriiii's thri. thri gets old. Yeah. And as she gets old, they all turn to dust. And then she turns to dust. Just like the Monkey did. Everybody turns to dust. How from that other movie? At the beginning. Susan Sarandon is in London as a music teacher with a lesbian lover. And that's the end of this movie. Apparently after Susan Sarananed saw this movie, she went, huh, I lived.
Starting point is 00:25:35 I lived. Wow. Oh, and the vampires can walk around at the daytime too. There's like no effects. Except that they're shitty. Wow. So that is the hunger by Tony Scott. Tony Todd, Tony Todd. Every time I saw the title of this movie or said the title of this movie or thought about the title of this movie for some reason I got Eddie Money take me home tonight stuck in
Starting point is 00:26:08 my head where he goes it's a hunger hunger you know what I'm talking about it's a good great ass song Eddie Mahoney is his real name is it really love that he was like a New York cop that's really good. It's a hunger. Katie. What? What's going on, man? I'm like so mad. I'm like so bored about this movie. I can't even open my eyes at the moment. I'm just raiding with my eyes closed. Um, so uh, anything you want to talk about? Anything you want to, uh, you want to rate this movie? Um, oh? Yeah. I'm moody and gudy. Oh. th. What, th. What, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. What, thi. What, thi. What, th, th, thi. What, th, thi. What, thi. What, th, th, th, th, th, th. What, th. What, th. Starting point is 00:26:48 Oh, no, I'm moody and Goths. No, I'm upset. I can make a playlist for you then. Oh, I don't want it. Katie. What is happening at this episode? tho. this? this? this. this. this. th. this. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that. that. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. tha. tha. ths on. Goths. Because I really want to meet them. What is happening at this episode? Go to the ratings face! Oh man, this was butthole. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:14 Like great actors, people you like to look at, for sure. Yeah. A story written with someone's butt hole. Someone squeezed a pen in between their butt cheeks, lightly pressed into their butt hole, and squatted over a piece a a a a a a the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the a pen in between their butt cheeks, lightly pressed into their butthole, and squatted over a piece of like doctor table paper and wrote this out, and it was illegible, and then they made this movie. And they were like, I don't, is that say monkey? Does that say lab? Does that say progeria? Like what? Okay, we'll make that movie? We'll make all these movies? I just, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, th. thi, thi, thi, thia, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, the, the, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, make that movie too. We'll make all these movies. I just, I don't know what anyone was thinking, making a movie that was so bad. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:53 Yeah. Yeah. David Bowie's, I love David Bowie. You know what doesn't hold up though, Labranth? What? You don't think so? I watched it again in the last couple years and I was like, I mean, I love my bets. You remind me of the babe.
Starting point is 00:28:08 I thought we were going to do it. You know I just like starting them? You didn't even start it. I started it and you looked at me like an idiot. I did not. Starting point is 00:28:33 No, it's a fine movie, but it isn't what I remember it being. And I do love Muppet. I do love Muppet. I love Muppet. I'm to the th. I'm th. I'll th. I'll th. I'll th. We'll have those escalators that take us everywhere. I won't even have to walk on sidewalks anymore. I'm to be to be to be to be thoes, with this movie. Uh-oh. I mean, I guess the intention of the movie was to make a slow, dark, brooding, brooding film.
Starting point is 00:29:15 Yeah. Nailed it. And it did. I hated it. They did not manage to tell a story while they were doing it. I had to be honest with you. I had turned it off, I had about halfway through, intending to come to to to come it to come to come it to come to come it to come to come to come the the the the the the tell a story while they were doing it. I had to be honest with you. I had turned it off, I had about halfway through, intending to come back to it later.
Starting point is 00:29:28 And I read the, I was like, I can't watch it. I just can't. I'm like, I'm just gonna read the Wikipedia page and pretend like I watched it. Oh no. And I didn't. can prove because I told you about the balls. Uh-huh, uh-huh. But this is really the first time I was like, I might just not. Okay. I mean, and it was, did you notice it was a cheaper rental on Amazon than anything else?
Starting point is 00:29:51 Yes. $2.99. I actually sprung for the HD because it was only $2. Yeah. I still paid $2.00. I still paid $2.00.00.00. I. I th. I'd $1. I'd $1. I'd $1. I'd $1. I'd $. I'd $2. I still paid toed.00. I still toed.00.00.00.00. I still still still still toed. I still still still to the. I still paid a dollar. I wish I could have paid zero dollars. But then I'd own this movie and that would be bad. I don't know. Like, I guess it did, it did what it set out to do, right?
Starting point is 00:30:11 Yeah. It made the movie, they made the movie they wanted to make, probably. I would argue that it kind of failed at doing that. What do you think was the intent the intent the intent the intent the intent, the intent, the intent, thi, it, it, it, it, thi, it, it, it, thi, it, thi, thi, thi, it, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thin, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, it did, it did, it did, it did, it did, it did, it did, it did, it did, it tho, it tho, it tho, it tho, it thi, it thi, it thi, it thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. Did, did, thi, thi, thi, thi. I mean, I think it set out to make the brooding sad vampire movie showing that like a vampire's existence would be pure misery. Sure. But it like did that by making you the viewer miserable? Yeah, that's a really good way of putting it. And it didn't, like, it didn't tell a story. I don't feel like I'm any more familiar with it at the end of, you know what I mean? Yeah. I've seen this movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie this movie movie movie. I've this movie. I've this movie. I've this movie. I've this movie. I've. I've this movie. I mean? Like, I've seen this movie twice before we watched it. And the things I took away were Bauhaus is in the beginning, David Bowie's in it.
Starting point is 00:30:51 I didn't even fucking remember that Willem Defoe was in this movie, and I love Willem DeFoe. And Cher's Dad. We didn't even talk about for the little girl who David Bowie murdered. And he's stupid Italian. And he's wearing a weird wig. And just like crinkling his eyebrows all the time? He's a great actor. I like him when he shows up in things. Good guy. Dan Hediah. Yeah. And he was just as funny in this as he normally is, but it like tot tot tot tot tot hea he didn't he didn't he didn't he didn't he didn't he didn't he didn't he didn't he didn't he didn't he didn't he didn't he he't fit the mood of the movie. Shag it in here. I'm Richard Nixon.
Starting point is 00:31:25 Uh, two. Two. I just, I mean, I have never been so mad. So I've never, not so mad. I've been certainly more angry at movies, but I've never just felt so much like, I really don't want this. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I think this movie would be perfect if you were like at like a party and it was just on the TV and you could come in every once on and I'm like, hey, look at that. There's loud music playing and there's this movie going because it's beautiful.
Starting point is 00:31:54 Yeah, it's nice looking. But yeah, I think it fails at what it said out to do and like all the reviews of it are just like that it's a fucking mess. Like it doesn't th th th th th th th th. Like all th. Like all th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thu, thu, thu, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th. th. Like, that, that, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Like, th. thi. Like, th. Like, thi. Like, like't make any sense. You don't care one. No, not even David Bowie. No, no, and I think you're supposed to. I don't care for Susan Sarandon either. Yeah, no, not at all. As soon she said progeria, I was out. Yeah, she doesn't like, she's almost Peter Murphy like staring down the barrel of the camera and just like go an ape in front of like it like. But that's not the rest of the movie. No, it's not.
Starting point is 00:32:32 It does like it starts off so strong and then you're like, oh, okay. I feel like you're watching the interstitial bits in another movie that like could have been had more like action-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-like-like-so-so-like-so-so-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like-like like like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-s-a-s-s-I-a-I-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-so-you-so-so-so-you-you-so-so-so-you-a-you-like, like, th-like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like been had more like actiony bits going on or something. Yeah. So I'm gonna give it a four, but it's basically a two that gets bumped up for having David Bowie and Bowie and Bow House in it. Boy, oh boy, aren't you glad you recommended this movie to us, faithful listener. I mean it's beautiful. I wouldn't tell anybody not to watch it, but don't. I would. I'd say, how all that outside you could be going to but it's a yeah it's a movie that got made they did a minute days of thunder I mean days of thunder top gun are literally the same movie as we've discussed sure sure sure this is not that so if you think this is days of thunder shop gun it won't be all right so let's try and remake this movie this th under th under this th under th under this th under th under th under th under th under th under th under th under th under th under th under th under th under th under th under th under th under thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus the thus thus thunder. thunder. thunder. thunder. thunder. the. the. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th th th th th th th the the of the of the of the of the of the of the of theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee of the of Daze of Thunder slash Shopgun. It won't be. All right. So let's try and remake this movie in the mold of Days of Thunder.
Starting point is 00:33:27 Because we did this with Days of Thunder, where we figured out like who was the Russians, who was, you know, Ice Man. So in this movie, David Bowie is cold trickle. Oh, see, I was going to go with Susan Snorand and being cold trick.. thrikel. thriririririririririri-I, thi. Okay. Okay. Okay. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, I, I, I, I, I, I's, thi, I's, I's, thi, thi, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi.trickle. Okay, because she makes it all the way to the end. She makes it all the way to the end, you're right. So David Bowie's rowdy. David Bowie, no, David Bowie is, oh, the guy from ER, Anthony Edwards in the other movie, because he dies, right? He's goose. Guse. Goss. Gail. And, ga. Gose. Gose. Ga. Ga. Ga. Ga. Ga. Ga. Ga. And, the. Gose. the. G. the. G. G. G. the. G. the. G. G. G. G. G. the. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. th. th. th. th. th. th. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. G. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. th. the. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. th the Russians. Catherine Newves is the Russians slash Carrie Elways.
Starting point is 00:34:06 Oh, nice. Slash Val Kilmer. She's all just everything evil wrapped in one. Yeah. And Tom. But wait, not Val Kilmer in any roles, just Val Kilmer the actor. Yeah. Yeah. That makes sense. I think we did it.
Starting point is 00:34:24 Right. And Tom is. Tom's Nicole Kidman. sense. I think we did it. Right, and Tom is, um, oh God, who's the... Tom is Nicole Kidman, right? I was going to go with Tom being, uh, or Kelly McGillus. Who's the old guy who's yelling at, uh, the Tom Cruise, he's the pit. Robert Duval? The old guy who's yelling? How fucking to tare you? I mean, it's an accurate description of him. No, for sure.
Starting point is 00:34:45 Who's John C. Riley? I guess John C. Riley is the dead monkey. I like the movie that we've made much better. Yeah, yeah. Thanks, Tony Scott. I'm sorry, you're dead. Can we move on? Yes.
Starting point is 00:34:58 If you're glad that you're not dead, get yourself a Cryptocurium. Live your life, live it to the fullest. Oh yeah, it's gonna make you not on we. Yeah, it's gonna make you not we. That might be bad. Non-Way. Non-Wi. It sounds bad too. Cryptocurium is our friend Jason McKitrich who makes a monthly subscription box called The Parcel the Parcel of Terror and in it is amazing, handmade art. Horror-themed plaques, magnets. Pins for your jackets and shirts? Kins for your jackets.
Starting point is 00:35:34 Keychains. Can I make me a keychain? Oh, we do it. I have that Chud keychain that I hang from my rear of a mirror. I could get it, go for a key chain. I mean, like, if you're taken, like, like, like, like, like, like, taken, like, like, like, tha, like, like, like, thii. thi. thi, like, like, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, thi. like if you're taking suggestions. But they're beautiful. He makes them hand paints them molds and sculpts and all this crazy shit which you can see by following him on Instagram at the underscore cryptochurium which is spelled CRYPTO CURUM. that's a different internet but that's where you would go to sign up for the parcel of terror. 35 bucks a month, delivered right to your door, you can see what's gonna

By the time this comes out, it'll have already been the holiday season. Thanksgiving will have passed. Yeah. I hope you all had a very nice Thanksgiving.
Starting point is 00:39:12 Yeah, and for our foreign listeners, it's the holiday we celebrate small bucks. Yeah, it's not a... Is you cool? I think that is an excellent summation of what happens. Thank you. But I like it because there's pie. There is pie. So yeah, and now we're into the Christmas season and you all know how we feel about the Christmas season. I'm already depressed. Yeah.
