Starting point is 00:00:00 Alan. Katie. I have a question for you. I will attempt an answer. I think you might know this because it happened in your lifetime and not in my lifetime. Yes. When did Disco die? Yes.
Starting point is 00:00:12 When did Disco die? In the late 70s. It started to die. Was it dead in 1980? No. So this was not ironic. No, no, no. This was sincere. You have to remember the cocaine was still flowing from the 70s into the 80s. So it's a little cocaine hangover into the 80s? Yeah, I think so. Okay. Really wasn't sure. I just. to the the the the 70s. I just. to to to to to to the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the the the the the the the the the. ths. So it's a little cocaine hangover into the 80s. Yeah I think so. Okay, really wasn't sure. I just couldn't tell if they loved disco or if it was like, you know, a throwback to a previous era. Like I kept thinking about Lucy like going to a school dance and they would, it was like scoffed themeed. And she's like mom give me your checkerboard and to a the the the the the th. And th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Oh, it's gonna make a Skank and Pickle joke.
Starting point is 00:01:08 Of course you wear it. Meta-Sco, please. The dance would be called SCA I'm coming. Oh, SCAM I've been skanking. I love SCA. I love the idea of ska. Oh sure, everybody wants to pick it up, pick it up, pick it up. They do.
Starting point is 00:01:30 But now, like, that's my kid at a dance later in life. You don't think it'll be grunge themed. I hope not. Mom, can I borrow your oversized cargo shorts and thermal underwear? You, it'll probably that. Anyway, disco. Disco? So we're talking about disco this week on Wearwuff Ambulance. Yeah, you like that?
Starting point is 00:01:54 Yeah, I do. That's weird. I'm not one of those disco sucks guys. I'm a disco thux guy. Are you really? It's dumb. The best kiss album is their disco album. I think a a th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th tho tho tho tho th I think a lot of people might be upset with you for saying that. And I only know that because I've seen Detroit Rock City a bunch. It's a good movie.
Starting point is 00:02:12 I've never seen it. You've never seen Detroit Rock City? No, I missed out on a lot of movies. Yeah. When we do can do can't you can't? the same era, right? Yeah yeah I was a miserable punk rock kid at that point you just missed like a really. But kid I mean like 27 year old. That's a child. I also need to. What's that one in Texas with the texas chains out massacre? Starting point is 00:02:46 I've missed out on these teen rumps. Let's do a teen rob podcast. What we call it the Rompast? No, it sounds to us. No, you named this one. You named this one. I'll name that a can hardly wait reference? It is. Ah, look at me. I think I may have said that in a previous episode.
Starting point is 00:03:07 Oh yeah, a few of them. I think. 92%? Are we going right into can't hardly wait now? Yeah. Class or sex? What shall I do? It's a fragrance of love-scented candle, bitch.
Starting point is 00:03:23 OK. All I care about is Seth Green, as you know. Oh, man. Let's move on. To like the reason we're here. Oh, do you want to talk about prom night from 1980 starting Jamie Lee Curtis? From night? Love that disco. Let's talk about the soundtrack, right out of the game.
Starting point is 00:03:39 So when the kids are dancing, they're dancing to to their their their their their their to their dancing, they're dancing to 70s disco. Yeah. When you're listening to the songs, they're imitations of those songs because they couldn't afford them. Ah. But maybe they should have shelled out because they ended up paying $50,000 in copyright fines for just, I mean, that one song is just Donna Summer. Yeah. But it's like, Donna Sumer. It's really funny how close they thought they could they could they could they could they could they could they could they they they could. they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they're. they're. They're. They're like. They're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they they they they they they they they they're. They they're. They they're. They're. They're. They're they're they're like. I. Yeah. But it's like Donna Sumer. It's really funny how close they thought they could get away. Like come on Canada what are you doing? Oh it's Canadian. Oh really? I do think someone was sorry. Yeah there were a few
Starting point is 00:04:17 sorries. Yeah I think that's who it was. He was really sorry. Nick was sorry. Nick and Alex looked identical. Agree or disagree. I do thi. Yeah there were a few sorry. Yeah they were a th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they're they they th. th. Nick was sorry. Nick and Alex looked identical. Agree or disagree. They did. Why would they do that? Do they have that few people in Canada? From my reading, they were mostly like community theater people that were in this. And Jimmie L.Illie Curtis and Leslie Nielsen. I almost said Liam Nielsen. Action comedy star.
Starting point is 00:04:43 You know it's not funny in this? Leslie Nielsen. He wasn't funny. No, it was before him being funny. That sucks. He's so good at being funny. Until he wasn't. Do you know about the fart machine?
Starting point is 00:04:53 No, that sounds like something I would laugh at. He made a machine that made a machine like, I got this fart machine. That's funny. I love that. But yeah, he used to be a serious actor. Do you remember him in Creep Show, the other movie we've done with Liam Nielsen? Yeah, but he was kind of funny in that. Wasn't he? Yeah, he was kind of schlocky, but he was not a naked gun. No. It'sray, yay, ay, yiak. I don't even remember if that's the first one or the third one. It could be any of them.
Starting point is 00:05:28 The phrase, assault with a concrete dildo comes up in my brain a lot from those movies. And airplane, yeah? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Well, this is prom night. This is prom night. Apparently this movie was remit. th. this movie was this movie was this movie was this movie was this movie was this movie was this movie was this movie was this movie was th. th. this movie was th. th. this movie was th. th. this movie was th. th. th. the. the. the. the. th. th. the. the. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. the. the in 2008 and it has an 8% on rotten tomatoes, so perhaps we should have done that. What does this have on rotten tomatoes?
Starting point is 00:05:51 Like a 42? Yeah, of course it does. Middle of the road. So this is a movie about prom night. And dead kids, because we just cannot stop with the dead kids. It's our dead kids block. I just think all horror movies are basically about dead children. Yes. Why is that? Because it's the it's the saddest. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's the saddest. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Some jerks are going to say they are. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:12 They're gonna tell those dead baby jokes and it's like, you're... Yeah, come on guys. Come on, don't be that guy. So before we get into this, I have to ask you a question. Did you go to a prom? Yeah. How many problems did you go to? coming. Okay, but I was auctioned off by a teacher for the homecoming, which was very unsettling, but I got a date. That is not the terrifying direction I expected this to take. No, the my physics teacher, my senior year asked me if I had a
Starting point is 00:06:59 date for homecoming, scumcoming as I'm calling it. And I said no and he said do you want one and I said Mr. Perry are you asking me to homecoming and he said no but watch this and he took my left shoe off my foot because I had my foot on my desk as I often did because I'm ACES later and he traced it on the board and wrote Katie my last name two left feet no date for homecoming and then in a later class he basically like bribed th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th the th the the the the the th the the do do the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th th. th th. th th. th. th th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. And then in a later class, he basically like bribed some students to take me by giving them, like it was this experiment where you had to shoot a ball and had to hit a target, so you had to calculate like the velocity and the trajectory or whatever.
Starting point is 00:07:37 And he like gave them a bigger target to hit embarrassing now when I'm telling the story it was funny at the time. You thought it was funny at the time. Yeah, everybody thought it was funny at the time. Okay, excellent. I wasn't that ugly. No, no, no. I wasn't like, oh my god, Rachel Lee Cook and she's all that before she takes her classes up. I, just be like, I was kind of a class clown as you may imagine. Sure, sure. Literally voted class clown to. Oh, that's awesome. You guess. We get paid off in this podcast. I guess I'm making all the big bucks. Thanks Brian Gallagher, had a nice time. Oh. If I gave you a choice of numbers do you think you could guess how many problems that I attended? Yes. Zero. Yes. Yes. Two. T. T. T. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. When being fitted for a tux to go to one of these problems, yeah. Did the person fitting me for the tuck say my, you do have a long torsor two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two two. Did the person fitting me for
Starting point is 00:08:45 the tuc say, my you do have a long torso? Yes. This isn't as one as raw raw raw or shan-chon but it's pretty good. I did indeed have a very long torso. I still do. Oh yeah, yeah. Yeah. You didn't shrink out. No. I'm six with two and it's mostly my middle. Just tiny legs. Tiny little legs. I never noticed, but I believe you. I wish I still had the picture of myself in one of the prongs I went to. Before I had a tuxedo with sagged pants. fans because that was the you know yeah side burns that went down my neck just
Starting point is 00:09:27 thin sideburns that went down into my neck a gotee and an undercut oh my god you're a walking era 1991 hello this guy if I had had a flattel tied around my tuxedo was the only way it could have done better. We got to talk about this movie. We've got to move on. We've got to do it. I just wanted to get up my prom memories.
Starting point is 00:09:53 No, yeah. I like prom memories. I hope that everyone else likes it too. I'm sure they will. We'll do the remake of Promnight, we'll be able to bring out more. Sure. Or I'll re-quish you on these facts that you've learned. I will memorize them to the best of my abilities. Do you ever play killers are coming? Killers are coming.
Starting point is 00:10:13 Killers are coming. This is right up there with Hyde and Clap. There it is. Found you. So this movie starts off like I don't know two or three hundred other slasher movies start off with kids playing a game in an abandoned asylum? Sure. Yeah. Sure. Three kids are walking by and hear the other kids peal off and the one girl's like well I guess I'll go see what's going on. But they have told her that these kids don't want you there.
Starting point is 00:10:46 It's true. And they don't. They don't. They let her fall out a window. They walk her out of window. And they're like, no. They're like not that upset. They're little tiny monster people. Yeah. It's they are are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're. they're they're. they're th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thoes. thoes. thi. thi. thi. thooo. they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're. they're. they're. they're. They're. They're. They're. They're. They're. They're. They're. They're. They're. They're. They're. They're. They're. They're. They're. They're. They're. They're. They're. They're. They're. They're. They're. They're. They're. They're. they're. They're they're they're they're th. th. th. thi. t. ti. ti. tode. today. today. they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're reason as adults they're only portrayed as one of them being a monster person. Yeah it's weird because you're are you supposed to feel like you want Nick to live? I do not want Nick to live and
Starting point is 00:11:13 Kelly's like very sweet and demure now you killed a child and you stayed friends with her sister your whole life. Yes. What is wrong with you? Jude's the only cool one. Jude killed her too. She did, but she's a maniac. She is kind of a maniac. So this movie's full of red herrings, like the drunk janitor. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:38 To which like, the drunk, obviously, pedophile. Right. And Alex is like, that guy's a wacko. And Leslie Nielsen, the principal dad, dad principal. Yeah. Principal dad, says in my Vera line in the movie, which is, Alex, no man is a wacko. Hey, Leslie? Some people are wacko.
Starting point is 00:11:58 You, my friend, Leslie may indeed be a wacko. Like somebody wrote that and was like, no, that sounds good. th. th. th. th. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to me. to me. too, the the the th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the they. they. that. tr. tr. true. true. true. true. true. true. true. true. true. true. true. true. true. th. I. I. I. no man is a wacko. Like somebody wrote that and was like, no, that sounds good. That's something a dad would say. This didn't feel like a second pass movie. No. That felt like a one and done kind of deal. Have we talked about doing the movie pieces? I've never heard of it. It's a Spanish slasher film, but it's basically lampoons all of the movie is a red herring. Oh, I like that. And it's a, we should do it at some point if we can find it streaming anywhere.
Starting point is 00:12:25 Well, it's not gonna be any of the next three movies because we're prepped for those, but maybe after that. It's really ridiculous, and it's been suggested to us as well. Maybe if you're lucky. Keep those suggestions. Yeah, good. We so we so rarely so rarely so rarely so rarely so rarely so rarely so right to reject your suggestions. Speaking of Jude, yeah, go. Why should you get in that van? Because Slick showed up.
Starting point is 00:12:49 At first I was like, fuck this guy, and then by the end I was in love with Slick. Slick is the fucking best. Slick is the only character in this movie I care about. He's like the only person that, other than the girl at the beginning, Robin. He's he like the only person that dies that didn't have anything, you know what I mean? He's like the only innocent victim. For sure. Yeah. He drives a conversion van. He's about five, three.
Starting point is 00:13:10 He has, I don't know, two or three hundred rolled joints with him. Yeah, I've never seen so many joints in one place. And I watched like all of narco. And he he and he he and he he and he he and he he and he he and he he and he he and he he and he he and he he and he he and he he and he he, and I he, and I he, and I th, and I was, he's, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he drives like, he drives like, he drives like, he drives like, he th. And I th. And I th. And I th. And I th. And I th. And I th. And I th, he th, he th. And I was like, oh, I'm at first, because at first he shows up and he's like, hey, do you want to ride? And she's like, yeah, I guess so. Why, I don't know. He's also driving on the sidewalk. I guess they were like, you know, it was the, it was 1980
Starting point is 00:13:36 and everybody was terrified that a stranger was going the van with the change? Because they're sending him a red herring. He introduces himself as slick. He's Seymour, slick, crane. He's adorable. I love him so much. So yeah, him and Jude are immediately a couple. Yeah, they've like known each other forever, but they really just met that morning. And they, and for their first date, they go to prom. Cute. Cute. Cute. they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they th. And thage. And they, and for their first date, they go to prom. Yeah. Cute. It's cute.
Starting point is 00:14:06 And they both lose their vertidity to each other. Skew. It was like the tiniest romcom. It really was. It really was. I made tiny hand singles. Meanwhile, we're seeing the killer making phone calls and crossing names off a list. Important to keep that list. There are three of them, so you don't want to forget one.
Starting point is 00:14:27 It's so good because he can't get, was it like Wendy, he can't get on the phone so he's like circling her name and scratching on the other ones. Like, just so you remember, Wendy's the one you didn't talk to. Hey, a murderer who's dressed like a puppeteer in sequenced skimask, you can just kill people without crossing the name off a list. It's fine. Yeah, and also like just remember which ones you spoke with. It's not that hard. That's all you have going on, seemingly. I mean,
Starting point is 00:14:53 I just highlight them in my notes. So I remember who they are, so a highlighter could have solved this problem. I mean, maybe the murderer is him hymn. I don't want to give anything away so early. I mean, when did you figure out who the murderer was? It, about three quarters of the way through the movie. Same. Yeah. Well, so this movie does the wonderful thing where everyone could be the killer. And then halfway through the movie, most of the castes gone. They just leave. He's inexplicably. His distraught wife? Out of there.
Starting point is 00:15:25 For a second, it might be her? I would have loved it if it was the distraught wife. Yeah. I would have like that a lot better. I thought it was her. I thought it was him. I thought it was Jamie Lee Curtis. JLC.
Starting point is 00:15:34 Who we need to funded. And then she was like, yeah, I'll do it. And they were like, oh yeah, your Halloween money. Tching, t-ting, t-ting. You put a cash register sound in here? Kching. It sounds better when it's a real sound effect. You said like Billy Joel. I like Billy Joel.
Starting point is 00:16:07 Yeah, all right. I mean, current Billy Joel? Like the monster that he's evolved into? I don't even know what he is anymore. Is he a monster? He threw him Mike Stan and one of his bandmates. Did they deserve it? You've been in bands? At least bands for 20 years and never purposefully threw him like standing anybody. Maybe on accident, definitely on accident.
Starting point is 00:16:28 Sorry about that, whoever I hit. I'm sure you're listening. They're probably crossing your name off a list right now and then they're like, oh, he apologized. So this movie also steals a lot from Halloween, like the nurse getting carjacked and her car being stolen. I was like, that fucking just happened two years ago in that other Jamie Lee Curtis movie. Could you not think of another way to do it? Stolen by a comatose psychotic maniac? Yeah. Like, stolen by Michael Myers? Was that a hat tip or were they just like, fuck it? Maybe no one. their hat tip? their hat tip? Maybe no one. I think it was a hat tip. tip. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. Starting point is 00:17:05 They threw their hat and galoshes on the ground and stomped on them. They're a little Mexican hat dance around them. So she's in this movie because there's disco dancing? She did disco dance? Was she good? Oh, yeah. Yeah, she was. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. Yeah. th. th. Yeah. th. Yeah. th. th. the. Was she doing kicky legs? She did do kicky legs. She did do kicky legs. She's real high. Yeah, yeah. I think it won like behind her at one point all the way around. Where's your where in your knee? She's so cool. I wish I could be Jamie Lee Curtis when I grow up. And you could be married to Christopher Guss and have the cutest love story. Oh, yeah. That would be really nice. That would be really nice. Yeah. Seems really nice.
Starting point is 00:17:45 I could be in that new Halloween movie that's coming out. Ooh, the one with Josh Hartnett. That was literally like 15, 20 years ago. I don't know what I'm talking about. No, the one with ice. No. Wait. Hello. I just was shocked to realize that Halloween was 40 years ago. The original?
Starting point is 00:18:05 Yeah. Because H2O was 20 years ago. Why are we doing that? We can do that. Put it on the list. Put it on the list. I am so into her in this movie. Oh yeah, she's adorable.
Starting point is 00:18:21 She's just like, yeah, I'm doing this. Fuck it. She's just like, yeah I'm doing this, fuck it. She's also just arguing with Wendy constantly about the prompt. They're fighting over Nick who killed her sister. Like come on. How can Nick live with himself? Because you're dating James Glee Curtis. How can, how are we supposed to feel kinship with Nick? He's not just a fucking monster? Yeah. He's as much of a monster as Wendy is. He just doesn't have a side ponytail and an attitude.
Starting point is 00:18:51 We haven't spoken about the real monster in this movie. Tell me. There is a legit monster in this movie. Tell me. His name is Lou. He's got a motto brow. I liked him. He was straight up terrifying. He. He. He. He. He. He was. He was. He was. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. He was thi. He was toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. He was cool. He was straight up terrifying. He was wearing a bowtie with no collar, which I really like.
Starting point is 00:19:13 Just an undershirt. I also really liked his death. Did he have like, oh his death was the best. Did he have like prosthetics to make his brow more chromagin? No, I think that man just looks like that. I was looking at pictures of him and he, now he does not look like that, but like it's shaved. Yeah, was there like not plucking technology back then? Maybe getting them threaded. I think an epilady up on that thing. What's an epilat. Oh, do you not remember the epil-a, the, the, hair remover that was like this coiled wire that you would put on your hairs and it would just pluck them out at the root? Why not just use tweezers?
Starting point is 00:19:50 That's what tweezers do. But it would do like 50 at a shot. Why would you want that? Because it's fucking painful as it. I'll see if I could find an advertisement for the epilay to bump in here. Please do. And we're never getting on Spotify. Let's just burn into the ground. Introducing Epilady. Epilady's not a shaver. Epilady removes hair at the room.
Starting point is 00:20:11 And that lasts about three weeks. I've never felt like so sexy. That's what everyone says. Right. available at Macy's. You can't get on if you have Epilady commercials in your podcast. It's probably Copped Creton. So yeah, Lou, I was just like, this is, what is this man? He is, he looks like, remember that TV show? The Caveman TV show that was on for like six episodes before they canceled it?
Starting point is 00:20:38 When it was like cavemen living in an apartment in modern times? Wait, was it the Geico guys? It was the Geico guys, but they made it. They made a sit, no, I never saw it. But Nick Kroll, the comedian was in it. That's the reason I know about it. Nick Kroll's life. But yeah, that kind was just like, he looked like he could have beenal, I have that like beautifully feathered black hair.
Starting point is 00:21:07 But he's also the John Travolta character in a carry, right? Yes. So this movie's also Carrie? Except we never... Is the prank just that they tie up Nick and then he comes out and said, that's hilarious. That Lou was gonna be the king? I really like that. I feel like that's not so mean. That's just funny. It's just it. It's just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just the. It's just the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. It's just th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. theat. theat. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. theat. theat. theat. th was going to be the king. I really like that. I feel like that's not so mean. That's just funny. Oh yeah, it's just good comedy. Unless you're the person who's been tied up and knocked out now. Mm, he's tied up, yes, knocked out now.
Starting point is 00:21:34 And his death is amazing with the runway. I guess he's an innocent victim too. Because he's fucking around but he's not like he's just in it for the fuzzies. It's true. Oh there's also the cop, there's the useless cop and the whole like useless police force. Why was he at the prom? Because there was a they thought that Michael Myers was coming to the prom. He but then once they say that they caught Michael Myers like 50 miles or something, he says now I can enjoy the prom. What are you going to do there, Pap? What are you going to do there? You're going to be a 1980s gross oh. Honestly, now I can enjoy the pro, like you're going to get some punch?
Starting point is 00:22:18 You're going to slow dance? You're going to disco dance? Just be a gross..... thiii. thii. thi. thi, thi, thi, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, th. th. thi, thi, thi, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, thi, thi, tho, tho, to to to to to to th. th. th. th, what, what, what, what, what, what the the the they. What they. What they. What they. What th. What th, what th. What th. What th, th. What th. What th. What th. What th. What th. What th. What th. What th. What th. What th. What thi? What thi? What thi? What thi? What thi. thi. thi. thiaa. thea. thea. thii. thea. What are thi. What are they's they're th old man sitting in the corner. That's gross. And the other cop just like, hey, have a good time. Yeah, I'll see you later, Bob. That guy looked real familiar to me, but I couldn't figure out why. The lead cop? The guy who kept just rubbing his face a lot. He looked like 50 other actors, but yeah, I couldn't think of who he was. I don't think there's anybody else of note in this movie outside of Leslie
Starting point is 00:22:45 Nielsen and JLC. Yeah. But yeah, I love that. It's got every trope. It's got the useless cops. It's got the 4 to 500 red herrings. It's got the pot smoking teens. It's got Carrie. It's got Halloween. It's got a smoking cigs while you wait. It's got a terrible ending. It kind of ends on a dime, doesn't it? To the 404 I went, the fuck? Well, wait, can we talk about the choreograph dance number first? Please. We can talk about all of this. No more feeling uptight.
Starting point is 00:23:20 Is that the Donna Summar song? No more feeling uptight. Yes, the... and those are the lyrics are the lyrics are the lyrics are the lyrics are the lyrics are the lyrics are the lyrics are the lyrics are the lyrics are the lyrics are the lyrics are the lyrics are the lyrics are the lyrics are the lyrics are the lyrics are the lyrics are the lyrics are. Yes, and those are the lyrics and the entirety of the lyrics. And it goes on for the whole song. Yeah, like 20, 25 minutes. It's the entire third act. And the entire thing is choreographed. I love a choreographed dance routine at a school dance.
Starting point is 00:23:42 Because who did that? When did that happen? When did you work on that? In your spare time, when you weren't in Home Ec, typing class? Typing class? Do you have typing class? I did have typing class, yeah. I still only type with them on hand. It's very bad. In my high school, I can remember them wheel up typewriters. And yeah. Yeah, that's old.
Starting point is 00:24:05 Yeah, and then when you would hit the keys, there was a little bird inside that would peck out the letters on the stone while you were typing. Right. It seems cruel, but it worked. It's a living. It's a living.
Starting point is 00:24:15 Did you think Alex was a little bit slow? I just, he was one of the characters that disappeared halfway through the movie. After like just kissing his sister all the time. They were like, they were definitely fucking. They were definitely fucking. Yes, Circe and Jamie, they were all over that. What does that mean? No, I'm just kidding I know. It's from Star Wars. So you have a joke I can run with.
Starting point is 00:24:41 But there's that scene where they're getting they they they're they're they're they're they're they're they're thine they're thine th's that scene where they're getting ready for the prom and he like walks in and goes, damn. And then he like sulturally puts those pearls around her neck? Ugh. What? You've done this before. They were totally fucking. They were. I have a note here that I don't know what it means.
Starting point is 00:25:01 Maybe you can tell me what it means. I hope so. That's not a clothes. That's not a clothes? Yeah. I have no idea with it. What are the notes around him? We could do a context clues. He's really sorey. Okay. And get more mileage with first aid. Which I think was a sign hanging in the school. I have no idea with it. It doesn't matter. So at some point I just started referring to Lou as Mungo? Mungo? What is that from?
Starting point is 00:25:34 Like Mungo Cherry? Yeah, right. That's what he reminded me of for some reason. And he's like staking out the principal's house. Yeah, at one point later it was like he's just hanging out outside the principal the principal the principal the principal the principal the principal the principal's house. I mean, is he? Yeah, at one point it was like he's just hanging out outside the principal's house, like. The principal is Jamie Lee Curtis's dad, right? And Alex's dad. Who shows preferential treatment to his children?
Starting point is 00:25:52 He's like, oh you think I'm going to show favorites to my own kid? Well, you're right. Literally, that about that. There's no school boards in the seven, oh wait, yeah, they're totally were. Definitely were. Yeah, I just can't like, so he's basically hired by Wendy. Wendy who's 37 years old, right? A cute 37, but 37 on the last. And if she's 37, he's like 43.
Starting point is 00:26:20 Yeah, he's up there. And he comes to pick her up for the prom and there's just two dudes in the backseat? Yeah. They needed a ride. I like them too. They were like weird buff but had small heads, which I like in a man. Like a professional bodybuilder sort of thing or just like. No, just like oddly proportioned. I like them weird.
Starting point is 00:26:44 The one guy was like a little, little, little lie, like little slimy guy, little. I think I'm thinking of the blonde guy. Yeah, yeah, yeah, the ruffian who just hung out right next to lewd the entire time. Yeah, you want to be close to glory. Vicky was antagonizing Mr. Sykes by mooning him. Do you like how Vicky is a character for no reason? Gone halfway through the movie. She, no, she appears halfway through the movie I felt. So all of a sudden she's the friend who had nothing to do with the killing and has nothing to do
Starting point is 00:27:15 with the outcome and she just shows up to like moon him, make jokes in the bathroom and hug JLC before she's the queen. That's it. Is she the one who would show her butt? Yeah. Will you show your butt? Yeah. All right, you're in the movie. Let's go. Yeah. And the tennis coach, Jim Teachers' reaction was like, come on.
Starting point is 00:27:31 Yeah, right? I figure at least a demerit would have been involved. Just get back in the is going to start killing. Yeah. Who gets at first? Kelly? I think who won't do it with her boyfriend who's like, if you won't, I'll find someone who will. He throws his corsage at her. Yeah, that was harsh.
Starting point is 00:27:55 Yeah. That was a bummer. She's supposed to be very demure, but then she's all like crying at the same time. Oh yeah, crying tiddies, which is my autobiography. Oh God! I was thinking, is this going to go with this as my new band name? No, that would be a weird new band. It started with that and then ended with autobiography.
Starting point is 00:28:23 Remember the very first movie we did with eyeballs and boobs? Or they wasn't in the movie, but it was supposed to be? Yeah. That would have been crying titties. That would have been crying today. Yeah. What a missed opportunity. So yeah, she gets offed. Just slashed, right? Oh, everyone's getting slashed with mirror, broken mirrors.
Starting point is 00:28:43 Why? Well, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there, there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's they. they. th. th. thoome. thoome. thoome. thoom. thoome. thoom. I thoom. I th. I th. I th. I th. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. I'm. I'm. I'm. It's mirror, broken mirrors. Why? Well, there's the one scene where Jamie Lee Curtis and her buddy are getting dressed, Kelly. And like, Jamie Lee Curtis buttons up her top, they hear a mirror break, she unbuttons her top and they run out to go see what's going on. Yeah. And there's a piece of the mirror broken and gone just out of the mirror completely. Right. That they're th the the the the the the the took took the the the took the. took thuuui thui the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. th. th. th. th. th. their their th. their their their their their their their their their their their their their their. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. te. te. tea. tea. tea. tea. tea. tea. tea. tea. tea. tea. tea't know three minutes They're very distressed by it. I feel I would not notice And it took me like a long time to go oh the girl the beginning was dead because there's a piece of glass across her throat Oh, you know it took me until you just said that okay cool but so it's a piece of pieces of mirror that he's killing with? Yeah, but it's a piece of? points at see-through and some points it's reflective. True. But yeah he slits her throat. Yeah and then hangs her up somewhere I think or something. I think he just like tucked her up on a shelf and then she fell down when somebody went into the murder closet. Look at me and my highbrow shades of Halloween
Starting point is 00:29:41 note that I took. What's wrong with me? You do a podcast. The next one to die is Jude? Yeah, in the van. With slick. Such a bummer. Also, he's driving the van around so slowly. You have safety first. He can't see. He dropped his glasses.
Starting point is 00:30:04 Plus if you get busted with like 300 joints in your car, you're probably going to go down for a while. Yeah, inside a book. A hollowed out book. A dictionary that he hollowed down. There's so, that's literally like a pound of weed. Oh, this was one of my favorite things. So it's definitely shot in Canada, but the high school had like the the the the the the thia. the thia. their their their their their their their their their their th. th. their th. thirty. thirty. th. thirty. th. th. th. So it's definitely shot in Canada, but the high school had like really shitty lettering on it to tell you the name, which was Alexander Hamilton. Was it? Yeah, they're like, what's a really American name for this? USA?
Starting point is 00:30:30 So yeah. I was gonna say, what do you think it really was Celine Dionne High? But that's the only Canadian I could think of off the top of my head? Was Nickelback high? high. Oh yeah, that's true. You're right. I'm wrong. Isn't that go back the worst thing the Canada ever did? Oh, I mean, what about that bare naked lady song? Chicken a Chinese, Chinese, chicken. Probably holds up. We didn't hold up in the first place? Watch an X-Files with no lights on? They got you with X-Files. I have this one. Wait, I like X-Files, this song does too.
Starting point is 00:31:11 This song is for me. I like Fletchergrass. I have to listen to one of those songs for the rest of your life. Are you really going of a Nickelback song. That's how it goes. I'm sorry, did you just eat a peanut butter or chili sandwich? I wish. It's probably going to be the very nicotine song since I can do most of the rap part of it. So.
Starting point is 00:31:35 Yeah. Didn't they start up as a barbershop quartet? Did they? That's adorable. It's band. One week. Nickelback's were the worst worst worst the worst worst worst worst worst the worst worst worst the worst worst the worst. It's banned one week Yeah Um Nickelback's probably the worst. Yeah Yeah
Starting point is 00:31:50 Yeah, okay. I mean, Poutin's pretty great Canada. Canada gave us? What's that? Hockey Michael J. Fox. Is he Canadian? Yeah, didn't know that. William Shatner. Didn't know that either. Who else is Canadian? Let's start a podcast
Starting point is 00:32:05 called Who's Canadian that you may not have thought of? Mike Myers. That one I knew. Surprised me. Do you ever see the movie Peanut Butter Solution? Yes. There's a saline Dion's not at the end of that. You would look to be like, why are you saying this to me? I was excited to talk about the poor. That's the one that makes your hair grow. Yeah, yeah. And the kid puts it down his pants and his cubes grow. Talk about a red herring.
Starting point is 00:32:36 That's Signor! For a long time wanted to get another cat named him the Signor. I don't need any more cats. No, I think you're th you th you th you th, I'm I'm like th, I'm like thi I'm like th. I'm like thi I'm like thi, I'm like thi, I'm like thi, I'm like thi, I'm like thi, I'm like th. I'm like th. I don't need any more cats. No, I think you're at your limit. I'm like one over. Um, okay, so Jude dies in the van. Yeah, and that's the last we see her here of her. Yeah, well, because the van goes off the cliff and it explodes.
Starting point is 00:33:02 Oh, right? Those joints are really explosive. Oh, fuck, all those joints were lost. Yeah. So when the cop showed up, really like, yeah. Just everybody standing around the edge of the cliff was just so baked. That's so sad, yeah. That's what's being high sounds like right.
Starting point is 00:33:17 Yeah. All right. All right. You know what you're doing. And then the next to die. He chases Wendy around forever. Forever. Which is the very 80s horror movie concede. She's running from room to room.
Starting point is 00:33:36 And she like isn't real good at continuing to go to the next room. She's like, what about if I just stay here? What about if I just stay here? Maybe don't, Wendy, maybe go back to the dance. Because you can hear the dance music, so you could just go back in there. Prom night. Prom night. Yeah. I feel like I was even more uptight at the prom.
Starting point is 00:33:56 Sure. So then the egg gets Wendy, I guess. Yeah. Yeah. And this is before, after Lou's head rolls down the aisle. Before. Okay, and that's very exciting. It is very exciting because he killed, he got killed.
Starting point is 00:34:17 Did they lop his head off with like an axe? Yeah, he has a, like a fire axe I think. Oh, okay. All right. Which are definitely not in schools. No. I mean, there's no fire axes. I remember my high school had like the like 40 feet of fire hose in the wall. Sure.
Starting point is 00:34:36 Which they probably don't even have those anymore, you know? One of those kids going to do with that? Kids these days. Millennials. So then they're chasing Nick down? Is that when they run outside? I think, okay, so the killer and JLC and Nick all get into a tussle. Yes. And Nick's all dinged up already because Lou has knocked him out to take his crown.
Starting point is 00:35:00 Yes. So he's all blu-la-la-and-and he's fighting with the killer. And Jamie Lee Curtis hits the killer with like the blunt-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-n out th-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-o-n they they they they they they they they they they they they th-n th- with the killer and Jamie Lee Curtis hits the killer with like the blunt edge of the act. Yes. Yeah, as you do. Sure, defending her her boyfriend. That makes me so mad that he's our boyfriend. He's a real dick. Nick the dick. It's just what is the message supposed to be? Because you're like, are you supposed to be rooting for her to save Nick? Well, I'm not. I think it's supposed to be that, that, that turnabout at the end there when you're like, oh, but, oh, what, uh?
Starting point is 00:35:37 There was no turn about, was there? Well, when she finds out who the killer is. That she is she has struck the killer to save Nick. And then he dies? That blunt blunt blow with an axe blade? The light tap that she gave to the killer. Kills it. Yes. But not until she takes a ski mask off to see. She's seen his eyes and she knows who it is and it looked like a woman's eyes. Definitely. No, it's not mom. It's Alex. It's her brother. Obs. Why was his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his his he. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's Alex. It's her brother. Obs. Why was his ski-mass? Clittery? Canada? I like that they focus on the fact that he was wearing bell bottoms and like beetle boots. Yeah, it's fine. It's 1980.
Starting point is 00:36:18 But it's not like they showed me those earlier in the film that you were like, oh, you're right. No, you're right. You'll recognize these beetle boots. Yeah, there's no, nothing points to him. Nothing points to anyone. Everything is pointing away from everyone and towards everyone at the same time. Yeah. So she's holding Alex who has died from the light tap to the forehead. He has yet to die because he says something. something first. What does he say? He says, I killed all Robin. And that's it. And then
Starting point is 00:36:47 he said I killed Robin and I was like, no, he didn't. I saw that scene earlier. He killed all of them for Robin. Yeah. And in flashback we see that he as a little boy walked up to Robin and saw her there. Yeah. And then I guess assumed that it was those kids who shoved her out the window. How could he stand by while his sister was dating Nick? And hanging out with Jude and Kelly. That's true. Yeah. It's stupid. I don't like it.
Starting point is 00:37:12 I don't think anyone put that. She realizes who it is. She realizes who it is. I killed all the fuck there's nothing else you could have done I want to see some fallout I just want to maybe maybe know that she was okay or something but just like credit no I like not knowing if she's okay but it didn't make me make the note the end of this movie just made it amazing because they were like we're done yeah yeah go away we're fucking up we can't sing around. Rap party now. We already have the prom set up, let's have the rap party.
Starting point is 00:37:45 That's how I feel it ended. All right, cue up prom night. Everybody gets dancing. Ah, night. Katie. Alan? I'm gonna ask you a question. Okay.
Starting point is 00:37:54 Um, you want to go to the ratings face? Um, you want to go first? I do. Go for it. I mean some notes for the ratings phase. The genius of this movie is in its ineptitude. That is literally your first sentence. I can see it from here.
Starting point is 00:38:16 Halfway through the film, half the cast is just gone. And it's all about Jamie Lee Curtis's dancing. I'm somebody. I th. I th. I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. tho. th. th. tho. tho. tho. tho. thoom. thoom. thoom. tho. thi. thoom. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. th. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It was really fun and really terrible. Yeah, this movie's butt. It's so bad. But it goes by like a dream. It's delightful in that way that like all those bands that sound exactly like the Ramones
Starting point is 00:38:40 Yeah. And you're still like, I'll listen to that. I don't get enough hormones in my life. It's like eating one of those little ice cream bowls that has the wooden spoon paddle. A little Dixie cup? Yeah, they're not, it's not good. No. You get to the end of and you're like, yeah, all right. I don't have another. I just got sense memory. the the the like scraping on your teeth. Why would it be wood? It just is. Get them splinters on your tongue.
Starting point is 00:39:07 I wonder if they're plastic now. I bet they are. You're going to encounter those soon. I'll let you know. You're going to be going to birthday parties that have those. Oh man. I have some little hugs in my fridge. What. What. What. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. thu. their. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I. th. I. I's. I's. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. Starting point is 00:39:28 And I was like, I'll put this in the refrigerator, I guess. Forever. What liquor can you mix with a little hug? Probably rum. Vodka? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Go with that flavorless. My little piney little hug. Uh, yes, Evan. This movie's fucking stupid as hell. You had a good time watching it.
Starting point is 00:39:48 I had a great time. Oh, that's awesome. Yeah. And it's just, it goes by like this. It really does. That's how I like my movies to just go by like that. It's like an hour and 31. Yeah.
