Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey Katie. Hey Alan. Do you want to watch a horror movie with me? Sure. All right. First, I'm going to give you a paper and a pencil. You're not going to need to erase or anything. No, no.
Starting point is 00:00:10 Because we're just going to do some fucking awful math. tooky too'n't. to watch a movie with me. to the horror movie on. We're just gonna do math. Oh, why don't we watch a movie called Math's the Movie? Called most people can't do math? Called, I don't know what a factor is.
Starting point is 00:00:37 Do you? I don't know. No. I'm extremely math averse. I have a problem where I transpose numbers often. Discalculia. Yes. Undiagnosed until I was an adult and then diagnosed by myself.
Starting point is 00:00:50 Sure, by the internet. Oh yeah. By a quick Google search, as all good things are diagnosed. Unfortunately, I work at a job where I'm working with numbers all day, so I have to double check myself constantly. Any who the movie we're doing. What's it called? Maths, the movie? Maths, are you scared yet? Maths, are you bored yet?
Starting point is 00:01:12 Maths, we didn't have a lot of money for this one. No, we had one room to work in. Maths, what if we just changed the color of the walls? Thank you to Peter for suggesting this movie. Hey, Peter? Hey, question. Do we know where Peter lives? Pete, you mad at us?
Starting point is 00:01:30 Pete, is this a joke? Is this a prank? Do we do something wrong, Pete? Pete, you like maths? Pete, you go by Pete? You like maths? Z? You like maths? Zed? Before we get ripping on this, can I do a quick shout at to somebody who did us a kindness? It's Pete, the answer is no.
Starting point is 00:01:53 The Chewing the Scenery Podcast? Yeah. A host from that did a poster for a comedian that I love named Dana Gould. Okay. Who is a Simpsons writer and stand-up comedian and does a great podcast called the Dana Gould, who is a Simpsons writer and stand-up comedian and does a great podcast called the Dana Gould Hour. Sounds like a famous and cool person. He is. So Richard from Cheering the Scenry got us a poster for the Dana Gould concert of Dana

Guys, you should go listen to chewing the scenery? If the podcast is half as good as his poster, you're really gonna like it. I agree. I like the podcast. I'm just being funnies. It's my job.
Starting point is 00:02:53 It's my job on this podcast. You're the funny one. No, no, neither of us is the funny one. I'm the math hating one. I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding. I'm a a a a th. I'm just a th. I'm just just just just just just just just just a math. I'm a math. I'm a math. I'm a math. I'm just kidding. I have a math job. I know. And I was still like, no, I don't know what a factor is. So let's talk about Cube, this Canadian horror film. Is it a horror film? I mean, for me? Wait, wait, wait, wait, no, no, hold on. I have a different question. I want to just stop and ask a different question. Is this what an escape room? Yeah, but are you you you you you like you should be drunk when you do an escape room? Is that a drunk thing?
Starting point is 00:03:26 I don't know, I've never been to one because I'm not a big team joiner. Fun fact about me, my least favorite thing in playing D&D modules is the puzzle rooms that you would inevitably end up in. I like a puzzle room, but you're in them in your dining room and not like in Greenfield. There's not a bunch of other people behind you waiting to get into that puzzle room. Like doing team building. Yeah. I'm not, I don't, I don't team build, you know what I'm saying? This movie is like the worst team building exercise? Well that's what I thought. I was like, is this an escape room, team building exercise gone bad? And I think the answer the answer is the answer the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer the answer is yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, the answer the answer the answer the answer the answer the answer the answer the answer the answer the answer, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I's, I's, I's, I the answer the answer the answer the answer the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer is the answer. I'm not the answer. I'm not the answer. I'm the answer. I'm the answer. I the answer. I the answer is the answer is... Yeah, yeah, yeah, I think so. It is. Can I do my Quentin McNeil impersonation for you?
Starting point is 00:04:08 Becca, his first name was Quentin? Quentin, yeah, yeah. I thought his last name was Quentin. I don't care. According to the Wikipedia. Why do they call everyone else by their last name and him by his first name? Fine. Do you want? Do you, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, the, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, the, th, th, th, the, th, the, th, the, th, th, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, his, their, their, their, their, th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I, his. I th. I th. I thi, his. I thi, thi, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. their, his first first prison names. San Quentin Leavenworth. Yeah. Wrens is, or Wren is a French prison.
Starting point is 00:04:29 Worth. Also Leavenworth? Leavenworth. It's Levin and worth. Like they ran out of fucking prison. They were like Alcatra, that's not going to work, Brian. Come on, Trez. Kazan's one, Kazan's one too. I wish one of them had just been Rikers, but
Starting point is 00:04:46 then like Star Trek would get mad. You'd have that really weird cropped a beard. And you'd have to be like getting portlier and portlier as the series went on and always pulling your shirt away from your body. Riker, I'm on to you. Frakes, you're a creep. I'm sure he's fine actually but the character's such a creep I hate th. I I I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I's a th. I's a c. I's a c. I's a c. I'm a croped. I'm a crap. I'm th. I'm sure he's fine actually, but the character's such a creep. I hate him. I'm always put off by a well-coft beard. I don't know why. Well, yours is pretty well-quaffed. I'm looking a little unruly though. I don't know about that. That's because it's short. Anyhow. So Quinton just acts all of his tie-in-law like this. Well, he has a problem in which his teeth are glued together together Oh. Also, did you notice he was a bunco that guy from ER? I forget his name. Eric, uh... Stultz.
Starting point is 00:05:34 Yes. But yes, I do know who you're talking about. He is a bunco that guy. Everyone in this movie is a bunco someone else. Like a bunco Dave Matthews. Apparently that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that is that that is that that is that that is that is that is that that that that that that that that that that that that is that that is that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that is is is that is that is that is that is that is that is that is that is that is that is that is that is that is that is that is th is th is th is th is thi is the is the is the is the is the is the someone else, like a bunco Dave Matthews. Apparently that guy was in the shape of water. Was he? I don't know, it says he was known for it on IMDB, but I didn't see that movie and to be quite honest with you, I don't know what it's about. Don't describe it to me, I don't want to know. Okay. I'm so out of toub. I'm so out of toucest of the thee to to to to to thee to thee. I'm so out of the thee. I'm so out of thee. I'm so out of thee. I'm so out of thee. I'm so out of the thee. I'm so out th. I'm so out the the the the th. I'm so th. I'm so th. I'm so out of touch with both recent pop culture and reality. Well, then that movie would be perfect for you because it exists in a fantasy reality.
Starting point is 00:06:09 I'm already done with it. You can watch it on the TV when it's out. Yeah. You like them Guillermo Datoro movies though, don't you? Sure. Your Hellboys. Mm-hmm. I like that one.
Starting point is 00:06:22 What's the one? Crimson Peak? Nope. Devil's Backbone. Neh. Chronos? Nope. Pans Labyrinth. No. The porn film Pam's Labyrinth. That's it? Really? I don't like any gai-mobiles. What's the one where the big robots are punching monsters? No, that's not for me. Okay. So no, you don't like Yelmont Toto movies. I guess not. Well, anyway. Let's talk about cube.
Starting point is 00:06:53 I guess. So we meet a fella. Wait, can we talk about the cold open? That's what I was going to. Okay, I'm sorry. Where he gets cued, fucking cued. I. I. I. I. I. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. the the the the the th. the th. the th. th. th. th. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to tog. tog. tog. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. can't take it. It's so literal. So what's up with this era of film bisecting people? They loved it. It's a taut wire thing. It's a taught wire thing. But it was like, it only exists at this period of time,
Starting point is 00:07:16 and then it just went away. I know. 96 to 98 was just a period of just slicing people with wires. Ghosts? That's the whole open. 13 Ghost? When the guy gets the glass that slides him in half? The horse in the cell. Correct. This movie? That's all of them. I love when someone, this dude gets like these wires that are the
Starting point is 00:07:40 CGI wires come out of nowhere. It's like chicken wire. There's no, like, it just wouldn't work to do what it did do him. No. He'd have to get hit from every angle with wires. And a very high rate of speed. A very high rate of speed. And he has that moment of like Wiley Coyote falling off the cliff and he goes, oh? And then he separates. Also did you the the the th th th the th th the he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he th. thi thi he thi. thi. thi. thi. heat is heat is he he he he. he. he. He's thi. He's the. He's the. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get, did you notice he had the hands of a child?
Starting point is 00:08:06 Why was that? I think it was like the David Bernian jacket that he had on that was like... Those were a child's hands. They were. That was not an adult's hands and I don't know why they used them. Do you think there was a kid just at the end of his sleep? I do. I do. I do. I do. So then after that guy who we never hear about again, they don't even fucking find his body. I was driving me nuts.
Starting point is 00:08:33 I was trying to decide if he was a previous cycle of this experiment. Maybe? Who cares? Because why is this happening? It doesn't matter. Oh, I hate the explanation for why this is happening. They explained it? They came to their own rationalization from it. No, no, they didn't. No, they didn't. No, they didn't. No, they didn't. No, they didn't. No, they didn't.
Starting point is 00:08:52 No, they didn't. It's happening for no reason. No, thrown. take you, no, you fucking idiot. Oh my God, I have so many problems with that scene, I cannot wait to get to it. Also because it means we're nearly done. So from the jump, the font at the beginning of this movie is so 1997. Oh yeah. Oh my God. And all the scenes cut like a TV show going to commercial. They like fade to black and then fade back in. It's like, it's like watching a show that had commercials on Netflix or something that doesn't have commercials now and it fades out and then fades back in and you're like, oh, that was a commercial cut. That's what this movie's doing. Speaking of that, I'm watching Angel on Hulu. Speaking of that, it's like, and then go to commercial.
Starting point is 00:09:45 That was, it was like that on Project Runway too. I had a very difficult time with the, it was not very dramatic. And sometimes they would just repeat themselves because it would be like going to commercial, but it wasn't. Oh, may I recommend spendings, but I guess not. Treat yourself. You can, you deserve it. I have all the other streamings though, I feel like I'm paying all the streaming's monies.
Starting point is 00:10:10 Yeah, but what's another $2 if it means you don't have to watch that Chevy ad over and over, you know? I hate that Chevy guy. If I could throw someone off a cliff, it'd be him. You talk about Bob Seeger? What are you saying? Buffseer was like the soundtrack to all those Chevy commercials in the 90s. So for a while I was keeping track of the colors of the rooms. Because I was like, oh, this is going to mean something. No. It absolutely does not.
Starting point is 00:10:37 Much like the numbers don't mean anything. Oh, they mean a lot of things. They mean prime numbers and they mean coordinates and they mean permutations and they mean factors and... Until they don't? Clear. Clear. Clear. Clear. Four, three, two, clear. Zero. Zero. Trap. What? Z. Fuck you. Fuck you in your weird letters I'd love that she dropped a Z in there. Like four times, I get it, you're Canadian. Don't rub it in. So we've got Quentin, who's the cop.
Starting point is 00:11:15 He's the hard ass. You think he's going to be our point of view character? Until he inexplicably isn't. Until he isn't. No one in this movie is good or likable or a hero. Except for a movie Kazan, but I kept waiting for something to happen with him. I kept, I thought that he was going to be the person that put them all in there. And then he was like sort of faking this, this condition and he was all of a sudden going to be like, and this is why I did it th.. And th. And th. And this why, and th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi. the. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the. the. the. the. I did it. I thought it was going to be game over from Saul. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:11:46 Mm-hmm. Where he'd been in the room the whole time. Right. Because he shows up like with like a half hour left in the movie? Yeah. Oh, I don't know. I was like three or four hours left, but I don't know. So you know, I'm a doctor,
Starting point is 00:12:06 so you know, I'm the cleric, I'm a cop, so I'm the fighter, because it's all a big D&D party. They're like, what are, what's your special thing? And she's like, nothing, a math magician, a math magician, a math tradition, and she doesn't tell that. She can't figure out that maybe her thing is math. I don't know. I mean, you wouldn't think that math would have any use in a dumb movie. Or a cube. You figure out that it's 14 by 14 and you're done. You're done.
Starting point is 00:12:46 You can spend some time working out the square footage, but you know. You're going to figure out that it's 14 by 14 by like sort of walking across it and using your feet as a guideline. But making that guy move because it's not the same everywhere. It's the same everywhere to go around him. The way that she and uh, worth, treat treatreat treat treat treat treat the th th th th th th th the th th th th th th th the autistic guy when he shows up, fucking sucks. And it bummed me out so much. This whole movie fucking sucks. Have we made that clear?
Starting point is 00:13:11 This whole movie sucks. this whole to suck. this is fucking sucks. I told our friend Joseph from the. Pantipole episode that we were doing this. He was like, thi ththat movie. Joseph, no you don't. You're a maniac. He also likes really shitty horror movies. Rob came in with about, I don't know, 20 minutes left of this, and he's like, how'd they get in there?
Starting point is 00:13:31 And I was like, I'm not even going to tell you. And he's like, well, what are they doing? And I was like, is this movie's fault. Do you have any idea how they got in there? Someone took them from their homes and put them in there, but not anyone, not anyone, not anyone, because no one's in charge. So no, one woman was eating paroagies and I thought, I'd like some paroagies. Yeah, me too. What do you talk about a paroagies in Canada? Because I was. Maybe they were just trying to get the Pittsburgh crowd on board. You were like, yeah, Ian's guys want some rickies. So we've got Kazan, who's the autistic fella.
Starting point is 00:14:14 We've got Holloway, who is the doctor. Has she been in another movie we've done? She looked familiar to me. She did, but I don't think that I didn't, I don't think so. She'd bunk go somebody else, I guess. And then, Wrens, or Wren. I like that you're saying it intentionally wrong, because who cares? Who is the escape artist, who dies almost immediately. I literally have the note,
Starting point is 00:14:37 the Ren is not particularly well cast, and then immediately afterwards, I guess it doesn't matter. I liked him because he was tiny. And if you're gonna have a guy that escapes or prisons, he's gotta be a tiny man. He just was trying to be like hard and like, no, I guess wizened would be the word. You jackass's will never figure this out. Yeah, but he didn't look like that. He was like, heh heh. You want a worth of the original the original the original the original thors's thors thor's thor's thor's thor's the wer's th, right? That's the team.
Starting point is 00:15:06 Yeah. Oh, did you mention Dave Matthews? I believe that's worth. Yes. Who says, I don't have a whole lot of joy to vivra? Is that how it's pronounced? I thought it was joy to vive. He's like, joe de vivra.
Starting point is 00:15:22 Like really, youie de vibra. Like, really? You're fucking probably French Canadian. Dip shit. So, he's the architect. Quentin is the cop. Jones the math magician. Holloway's the doctor. Ren is the escape artist. Alderson, I guess is the guy that we saw in the beginning.
Starting point is 00:15:39 They gave him a name, which was nice. That is, I guess he deserves it. I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm so I'm so I'm so I'm like I'm so dumbfounded about why the fuck these people are in this fucking thing doing this thing. I don't know. But a little bit. Why I kept waiting for like oh well they're gonna flashbacked outside where something they never that you only this movie takes place in the cube and never and like it's it's just the cube it one like a like a one room play Which done well can be great like um what was the one we did with Simba murder party where it was like? Oh? Oh, yeah, it was like thearly on one set. Oh, yeah. This is bullshit. No one attacks anybody with a caintape hole too was largely on one set. Oh, yeah. This is bullshit. No one attacks anybody. No chainsaws. No zambi's no, there's? No, they. I they. I they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. th. they. they. th. th. th. thi. thin. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Starting point is 00:16:26 There's no bad guy. They're all the bad guy and there's no bad guy. Do you know what I mean? I 100% agree. And there's like, the thing is, it's obviously very terrifying to wake up in a cube. Sure. And they have no access to the outside so they don't know how much time is past. They don't they don't they don't they don't they don't they don't they don't th. It th. It th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. There's just a montage of them talking about like wanting to eat dinner. Right, they're immediately like we're gonna die in three days without water. Yeah, okay? Sure. So the scariest part of thi. to their thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thin, thi, thi, thi, thin, thin, thin, thin' tho, tho, tho, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi's, thi's, thin, thi's, thin, thi's, thin, thi's, thi's, thi's, thi note about how I wouldn't be able to do this. We got a new mattress delivered and it's 130 pounds and I carried it up. I carried it up the steps to our bedroom and now I did that three days ago.
Starting point is 00:17:17 Every muscle in my body is still aching. I was like, oh though, there's no way I'm carrying my bulk down these ladders and shit. No, there's, and their their their their their there all, and there all, and there's, and there's, and there's, and there's, and there's, and there's, and there's, and there's, and there's, and there's, and there's, and there's, and there's, and their, and their, and their, and their their their, their, their, th. th. thirty, thirty, thirty, thirty, thi, thi, thi, thi, thirty, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. their, th. th. th. th. their, th. th. th. the the the the thirty, thirty, thirty, thirty no way I'm carrying my bulk down these ladders and shit. No, there's, and they're all, everyone in the party is able to like swing across, like, I did a tough mudder where that was one of the obstacles, it was hanging rings, and I got to the first ones and I was like, fuck this, I can't do this and. I've been able to do that. At peak physical fitness, I couldn't do it. Fuck this. I love the, like, and I know that none of them can actually do it either, maybe one or two of them.
Starting point is 00:17:52 I bet that buff cop could. There's the scenes of them like being lowered into the rooms and then like that like great like you obviously just jumped in the air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air air.. the coming down. Yeah, yeah. The magic of movies. That's Hollywood. That's Toronto Magic. Why do I have the note suck on it? I don't know. It must have been dialogue that someone said to somebody else.
Starting point is 00:18:15 Oh, the button. Suck on the button so that keeps your saliva moving, which I don't think it's true. I don't think that'll prevent you from getting that No, and you'll definitely choke on it like the lady did. The thing about this movie, there's a lot of things about this movie. The characters both know things and do not know things. And what they know and do not know changes throughout the movie, but without getting any extra information. Like, they're looking at the numbers, they figure out the prime numbers, so, th, th, th, so, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, tho, thi, tho, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, and thi, and thi, and thi, thin, thin, thin, thin, thi, thin, thin, thin, thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii, thi, thi, thi, thi, information. Like, they're looking at the numbers, they figure out the prime numbers,
Starting point is 00:18:46 so those rooms are safe, whatever, whatever. Like that made any sense what I just said. It's just fucking gifted class with prime numbers and shit. They're like, 27, 94, 36. Hut? But, but, but, but, but, but, they're like, the one guy is like, well, none of this is random, but like, how do you know that none of it is random? Do you know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:19:11 Yeah. I don't know. I don't know. Well, I like, there's like the big scene where she, the math magician figures out that there's like, the thu-fuxt. There's got to be X number of cubes, because of maths. Yeah. And she's like, but there's one extra. Where the fuck did that come from?
Starting point is 00:19:30 I didn't see that in your computations. Wait, did she say that? Yeah, she's like, there's one too many. And then that's why they figure out that it's the bridge. But it's not a cube, but it's the one that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's like, that's like, that's like, that's like, that's like, that's like, that's like, that's like, that's like, that's like, that's like, that's like, that's like, that's like, that's like, but, that's like, but that's that's, but that's like, that's that's that's, but that's, but that's, but that's, but that's, but that's, but that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's the one the one the one that's that's that's that's that's like, that's like, that's like, that's like, that's like, that's like, that's like, the that's like, the one the one the one the one the one the one the one the one that's like, the one that's like, the one the one the one the one that's like, the one the one that's like, the one that's like, the one that's like, the one that's like, the one that's to the outside wall. Well, that explains a few things, I guess. Well, yeah, because the guy, the one guy who, the architect, Bunko de Matthews, knows the dimensions of the keep. He's like, Smash into you.
Starting point is 00:19:57 Yeah, that's it. That's the one. I'm a- I was to say, Cindy my word. Don't, th.to say, sit him away. Don't drink the soda, the blood in the soda. Why is her blood in the soda? You know what was our blood in the water?
Starting point is 00:20:12 Dave Matthews? Dave? Dave? Dave? Why do I know that many Dave Matthews songs? We just did a bunch of them. I think it's alternative rock radio in the 90s. It is. It's being a delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery delivery. It's being a delivery delivery. It's a delivery. It's a delivery, it's a delivery, it's a delivery, it's, it's, it's a d. It's a d. It's, it's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's the. It's the. It's the.s. It is. It's being a delivery driver in the 90s. Yeah. BO-Doh. So he's the architect of this thing. He's like, yeah, I drew the designs for a hollow shell. I worked on it for a month. How tough was that? How hard was that?
Starting point is 00:20:36 It's a cube. He said, he basically said he was gold-bricking the whole time. He stretched out a job that should have they. thaged. thaged. thaged. thaged. thied. thied. thired. thired. their, th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. their, thr-a. thr-I's, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thea. It's, thea. It's, month. Oh I didn't know that. I had stopped listening to him. Is that why he's in there? I don't know. I kept waiting for that. This movie kept reminding me of Saul, even though it predates Saul. But I was like, there's gonna be a morality too. You're gonna be like, oh god, the architect's a rapist and the one guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy guy. I the one the one the one the one the one the one the one the one the one the one the one the one the one the one the one the one the one the one heat. I kept. I kept. I kept. I heat. I kept heat. I kept he's he's he's he's he's I kept I kept I kept I kept I kept I kept I kept I kept I kept I kept I kept. I kept. I kept. I kept. I kept. I kept. I kept. I kept. I kept. I the one. I the one. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. I kept. He. And I was like, I'll just work out all these things. The conspiracy theorist is a conspiracy theorist. Oh no, I'm sorry, she's just a dried up old bitch. That's what her crime was according to, it was like, come the fuck on? Really? Was that the cop that said to you? his heel turn. Yeah, which he does very suddenly, because you're on his side. You're like, this guy's gonna save us. Right, he's at least like trying. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:27 And he's like protecting, he's been protective. And then all of a sudden he just throws everybody into the wolves. Why did he drop her? Oh, spoiler alert. She said, spoilers for Cube. Um, because she said that he had his kids, which was true. I don't know. Yeah, it was like. He was. Because she disrespected him, I guess. They come up with a jackass plan where they're gonna hang her out the window on four shirts. And she's gonna swing, but she's gonna take all of the slack and then swing, which is not how it works.
Starting point is 00:21:59 What was she swinging to the outside wall? Yeah I think she was trying to reach the outside wall but she got there and there was nothing on it. There's no thing. So she did it two more times. So he's like holding her out or no no she's she's she like jumps, she's she like jumps, slips they all start dropping her and then he catches her and then he's like he's got her by the hand and he's like to thrown. the the he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he's to to to to to to to to to to to to he's he's to to to he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he idea why this just happened. I think he was mad because he slapped her. I think he was he was mad because he slept her. But like, nope I don't. I guess we're supposed to be like oh they've been in here for a while and now everyone's going bat shit crazy. See? Because their lips kept getting dry. Yeah. But they don't it doesn't feel like time has passed. They don't do anything to make it, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:22:49 Everything starts getting more and more fish-eyed. Like everything starts like bending. I don't know. There's 1,000, or there's 17,576 rooms. Yeah. I wrote that down. That's important. Okay, so there's a scene where he's talking about
Starting point is 00:23:07 designing this thing, right? Yeah. And he says that nobody is in charge. He didn't ask any questions. But then he also says, I looked. No one was in charge. What are you even talking about? He had a bunch of phone calls with people too, but just didn't... Who were they? What are they doing? And then they're talking about building a widget in like Cambodia? And it being a war machine? I don't... It doesn't... Katie.
Starting point is 00:23:35 I feel like it wouldn't have been that... And maybe that this is the retrospect of Saw having existed. But it would not be that hard to string together to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to together a a to to to together a their their their their their their their their the maybe that this is the retrospect of Saw having existed, but it would not be that hard to string together a storyline of why they're in there. Maybe they all, you know, I don't know. I mean I'm not, it's not my job, honestly, if I'm being honest. To write the movie. It's not our job to fix these things. No. I just have notes like let him go you Nazi. I guess that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that's that's that's th. I that's th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the th. the th. the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the the the the. the. the the the the. the the. the. the. th. th. the movie. It's not our job to fix these things. No. I just have notes like, let him go, you Nazi. I guess that was dialogue? Yeah, the doctor says that to the cop because he's like trying to get rid of the, um, the autistic guy, yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:15 David and Helen are friends, the fuck is this movie? Yeah, they have like a weird tender moment for no reason. And she's like, you really opened my eyes. Opened them to what? To what? About what? This is on par with last week's sudden romance and puppet master two, between the teethy guy. Oh, you mean I'm not.
Starting point is 00:24:41 At least nobody makes out in this movie. You know what, I'm not really sure? I'm not really sure that the cop understands what an x-ray is. No. I do remember being like, oh yeah, once again, Quentin has x-ray vision. It's my job to read people, like an x-ray. There's a lot of things that you read that might make more sense than that. Like a book. Like a book. The internet. Or Wikipedia, yeah. I don't know. I mean, I just don't know what. I do have the note that give us the boot you pig is my new favorite OI record. I like that a lot. And then he gets, so the cop is beating a dude with, because they're using boots to set up up up up up up up up the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their that's. their their. that's. that's. that's. their. their. their. the the the the the the the the the the internet. the internet. the internet. the internet. the the the the internet. the the the the the the the the the internet. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the things.ooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooometea. things. toooooooooooometea. I. I. I. I. I gets, so the cop is beating a dude with, because they're using boots to set off traps.
Starting point is 00:25:26 Which is a good idea. Yeah, yeah, the escape artist. Yeah, the only good thing the escape artist did. He did that and then immediately got acid the escape. He did that and the face. That was great. I liked that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:36 Yeah. gets the acid dumped into her face when she's laying on the floor in the camera, she's like, I'm gonna hang out with this for a few, I don't know, hours. Let's see what happened. Which one was the beyond? The faulty movie, Louisiana, zombies? Lucio! The the tarantulas that moved like this across the floor and bite out people's eyes. Vague, very vague. Was there a man in the basement covered in oatmeal? For the oatmeal? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah? Yeah. For the the the the the the the the the the the the the their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Uh, their? Uh, their? Uh, their? Uh, their? Uh, their? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, t. Yeah, t. Yeah, t. Yeah, t. Yeah, t. Yeah, t. Yeah, t. Yeah, t. Yeah, t. Yeah, t. Yeah, t. Yeah, For sure. Yeah, yeah, I remember that one. It's a good-ass movie. Better than this sack of shit. But at one point, the cop just starts beating Dave Matthews with the boot. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:19 I don't... We all wanted to beat Dave Matthews with the boot, haven't we? No, just kidding. Don't get mad, please don't get mad guys. Please don't get mad. I don't want to hear it. But, but, baby! There's not still Date Matthews, are there? Oh, one hundo?
Starting point is 00:26:30 Oh, are there? Yeah. You don't see as many of those? the dancing people? one of those and you're like, hmm, sup 96. You turned 18 and 96, didn't you? You were gonna go for that or the sun on your shoulder blade, which one you end up with? Yeah. For the record, as we all know, I am covered in stupid tattoos. So I had a very stupid tattoo that was very timely that I had to cover up with a good tattoo because I was like, I cannot have a blue star. It's, th. I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm a th. I'm a th. I'm a th. I'm a th. I'm a th. I'm a th. I'm a th. I'm a th. I'm a th. I'm a th. I'm a th. I'm a th. I'm a th. I'm a thatu, I'm a thatu, th. I've a th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I'm, th. I'm, th. I'm, th. I'm, th. I'm, the the the the the the the the the the the the th. I'm th. I'm a th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. I'm a th. I'm a th. I'm a th. I'm a th. I'm a th. I'm a t. t. tode. toda. toda. toda. toda. toda. the. the. the. the. the. the. th a blue star. It's not 2001 anymore. I was in a room with a bunch of people recently who got tattooed in the 90s and I was just like, yeah you did. It was great. Yeah, I didn't start getting tattooed until I was almost 30. So yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:15 So you have no excuse this what you're saying. Oh no yeah, yeah, yeah, I mean Math Math magician the rescue followed by I'd be fucked. I'm the math. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatatu-a-a-a-a-a-a, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I was th. I th. I was thi. I was th. I was th. I was th. I was, th, th, th. I was, th, th,. Because I'm so bad at math. I freeze up when math is involved. But it's not even like math you can figure, like I don't understand how she's getting coordinates from these numbers. I don't understand, she's like, take heart. But it doesn't, that doesn't mean. Well, she figured out thatir points on the graph. No. I thought they were.
Starting point is 00:27:46 I don't know. No, I'm just saying no to you. I'm just saying no. I think no, no. Because the middle number was the starting location of the cube. And that's how they figured out where they needed to get back to. And then they got into the cube. the one we started. And the the one. And the the the the the the the th, th, th, th, th, the one we started with. No.
Starting point is 00:28:06 That's my recollection of it. Did you like the room that was noise activated? I did, I did too. I really wish it had taken out the cop. Or just all of them. I wish this had been a total player kill. Yeah. It very nearly was. Yeah. It was so tongue.
Starting point is 00:28:28 I mean, I'm grasping for things to say other than, boy, howdy I hated this fucking sack of shit. Boundless human stupidity. That was another good album title. Yeah, no, that I actually liked. That's a very 90s conceit, you know. So they beat up, so Quentin drops Holloway. I'm still talking about the plot. Okay, go ahead.
Starting point is 00:28:51 Go ahead. Go ahead. Go ahead. Quentin drops Holloway. Goven and worth. I hate it. Beat up Quentin. And leave him behind and take Kazan and they go back to the room where the bridge is.
Starting point is 00:29:05 Wait, quick question. In that time period they also find the body of the acid guy. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Was he in a different room? Or... No, they just thought they were going in circles. That's how they figured out the room's room. Is it like a Rubik's cube? Should I think of it that way? Think of it more as the cells that the monsters are in in cabin in the woods.
Starting point is 00:29:29 But I liked that a lot. That's because these are just filled with shitty. You open each one of these up and it's just something shitty. Or nothing at all. But I was, like, I have the notes like five notes in like how did they not know these rooms are their their their their their their their they're they're their their they're they're their their they're their they're their their their like five notes in like how did they not know these rooms are moving because you would feel there's no way to mask that feeling when your room is moving. Sure and also they... Or did they only move when they weren't in them? No it seemed like it was on a timer. Right. Because at the beginning they're like, oh do you hear that sound? It's like, it sounds like Hvac? Yeah. So it's that's it moving, they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they's like. they. they's like. they's like. they's like. they's like. they's like. they's like. they's like. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they're they're they're their. they're like. they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're. they're. they're. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. their. their. their. their. the their. their. their. the their. their. their their their their their their their the the the their their their their their their their their their their their. their. their. So that's it moving. But then later they feel it moving and the camera shakes.
Starting point is 00:30:05 Why? Why? Why? Why? Because they just realized they should be doing that? I think they totally retconned that whole thing. And the camera was shaking? They're like, how do we figure that?
Starting point is 00:30:14 the whole time. And they're like, but, but, but, move it now. And then we'll just film a scene and stick it in earlier about H-track sounds. That'll do it, that'll do it. So in- I'm theyrea. So in my research on this movie, the rooms to change the color was a really long, tedious process. That's dumb as fuck. I know, and they were expensive.
Starting point is 00:30:48 They were supposed to be six different colors and they couldn't afford the sixth gel. What? It's a low-budget movie. So, they had to spend all their money on CGI wires. So, each of the colored rooms, they would do all of the scenes for that room. So if it was the orange room they did, you know, they went to the orange room multiple times
Starting point is 00:31:13 throughout the movie, but they would do all the scenes in that room at one time, which I think doesn't work in this movie is to its advantage. I don't think anything in this movie this movie this movie this movie this movie this movie this anything in this movie is to its advantage. So Leavenworth and, I'm sorry, Leavenworth, that's them together, because they're now together. There are a couple. And Kazan have made it to the bridge room. And it's opening up and Kazan gets through, goes towards the light, Carillon.
Starting point is 00:31:39 And there are, and then all of a sudden, Quentin, who they had knocked out, comes running into the room, stabs Levin. Didn't see that coming, to be fair. Okay, okay. Did you? No? No, I didn't see anything coming in this movie. Because nothing had come whatsoever. And then, murder's Worth. And Worth killed him as well? Kills Quentin. He gets dragged by the cube. Right, because they hold him in place.
Starting point is 00:32:10 He holds by his legs so the cube smashes him. And then Kuzon just walks off into the light. And then Kuzon just walks off into the light. Yeah. Which I kept expecting him to turn around and going, game over and then walk away. Nope. He just walks into the light. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. the light. Right. the light. the light. Right. the light. Right. the light. Right. Right. the light. Right. Right. the light. Right. Right. the light. Right. Right. Right. Right. the light. Right.
