Starting point is 00:00:00 It occurs to me now. I think this movie is a comedy. Oh yeah, yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, brother. It occurs to me now. I think this movie, I think this movie, I think this movie is a comedy. Oh, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:00:19 Oh, brother. Okay, so I definitely saw this movie, not when I came out, but within a few years of it coming out, and I was like, I don't get it, I don't get it, I don't get it, but I get what it's trying to do, I guess. Is that funny? The only funny part is a guy from Detroit Rock City? One of the guys from Detroit Rock City. One of the guys from Detroit Rock City. Oh yeah, the cop.
Starting point is 00:00:47 Yeah. Um, what are we doing here? What is this? This is where we're a family man here? Party guy? Party guy? Come on, party guy. We're going to do a podcast.
Starting point is 00:00:59 Uh, where are we're a family and I'm Alan? What did you just say? This is where with ambulance I'm Alan. Just all in one syllable. I tried. Okay. I'm Katie. And we're talking about Ely Roth's introduction to the world. This is his numero-o-uno.
Starting point is 00:01:17 I believe so. This is the one that ever knew him for at least. Oh brother. Cabin fever. Cabin fever? Oh man. Oh boy. This was your suggestion. It was on Netflix, buddy. It was the free suggestion. And did you see who did the music?
Starting point is 00:01:35 Yeah, yes. Bad Alament. He did a couple songs in the soundtrack. And when his songs kick in, and you're like, oh, that's a bad lament day. That's a bad lament day. So, this movie is a horror comedy. Okay. Takes place in the woods, your favorite. Uh-huh, love the outdoors.
Starting point is 00:01:57 It's got shitty college kids, your other favorite. Love shitty college kids. It's kind of zombievers. Yeah, yeah. Word zombievers is kind of this. Kind of this. I mean I guess there's like I one of my first notes is lull at the line don't go to college it's a fucking scam that fucking sucks. That's pretty funny. It's pretty funny. Y'alling that at a child. Don't go to college it's a fucking scam it fucking sucks. That's funny. I'm in. All right. All right, Eli Roth, let's do this.
Starting point is 00:02:25 So we open on a man in the woods who's seemingly just like living out on the land. Yeah. Walking with a rabbit. I wish that that was played by he looks like a bunco, the guy who plays Dennis Duffy on 30 Rock. He's the Vulture on Brooklyn 99 and he was a on his insurance ads. I wish it had been that guy. Funko Dean Winters. He also sort of looks like the scientist from Monkey Shines. Oh, the friend.
Starting point is 00:02:57 Yeah, yeah, yeah. So he's walking back to his campsite and his dog is sleeping. The biggest dog I've ever seen in my life. It's clearly something is clearly wrong. Yeah to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be that that that that that th. th. the th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. the the th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. I. I. I. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's th. I's thi. I's thi. I's theaugh. I's. I'm. Ia. Ia. Ia. I'm. thea. Ia. Ia. I'm. th. Ia. I'm. I'm The fakes dog I've ever seen in my life. It's clearly something is clearly wrong with that dog. You don't have to be that dog's owner to know if something is clearly wrong with it. But he goes over and he lifts the dog's leg because the dog's not responding to him and he's just like a pizza inside. Yeah, what? He's like, did you ever see anyone make a taaco out of pizza where you fold the pizza in half and put it, that's what it looks like in there.
Starting point is 00:03:25 But all red. Or like a just jam sandwich. Yeah. BAH! There's a lot of jam in this movie. A lot of dog jam. Yeah. The guy starts screaming and his scream goes into the college girl yelling.
Starting point is 00:03:41 And then telling the kid not to go to college college because it's a fucking scam. Yeah, all right fine. It's not bad Then we meet Dennis who's my favorite character in the movie When Dennis is a wig is exceptionally bad Dennis is a little kid that sits in front of the country store and bites people. Yeah. I laughed really hard at Dennis biting the guy. Rider Strong. Yeah. Also, he's like, you should put up a sign or something.
Starting point is 00:04:11 And then later, did you notice her sign and said, don't sit next to Dennis, he bites? I was like, oh, they took your advice. That's nice. And I did like the guy sit next to Dennis. Yeah, right. Did you think the blonde guy, the young blonde guy that's part of our party looked like a baby sting? I kind of don't. Because I'm going to refer to him only as baby stinging.
Starting point is 00:04:35 Because he's like wispy, blonde, and balding. Yes, exactly. And like has those sharpish features of like, I think I'm better than you. You know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you know, you like, you like, you like, you think, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th like I think I'm better than you. You know like sting? Don't stand so close to me. Yeah, exactly. Don't tell me what to do sting. Yeah. Yeah. So we meet the people who run the country store. There's the old guy who's very nice. Until he says the N-word. They're husky. What's all these different things in the store for? They're like what does a gun for and he goes, oh that that's for N-words. Yeah. Just like oh oh. Oh, but they also use the gay and retard in condescending terms and I'm like yeah I know it's 2002 but you're not really like a whole lot better than old guy there. No, no. And maybe that was th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. th. th. th. that that that's like it that's like it's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. that's a that's a the. that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a. No. No. And maybe that was the point? I don't know. I don't think so.
Starting point is 00:05:26 I don't think it's that self-aware. I thought it was like tried to be like little Quentin Tarantino. But I did love that they bought multiple cases of arrogant bastard, which is this like really pungent IPA? And I was like to thin th th th th th th thin they they thu thu thu thu thu thu, I thu, I thin, I thin, I thi, I thi, I thi, I don't thin, I don't thin, I don't thin, I don't think, I don't thi, I don't think, I don't think, I don't thi, I don't thu- I don't that I don't, I don't that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that's, I that's, I that's, I that's, I that's I that's I thu, I thin, I thin, I thin, I don't thin, I don't thin, I don't thin, I don't thin, I don't thin, I don't think, I don't think, I don't think, I don't think, I don't think, I don't think, I don't think, I don't thin, I don't thi, names. I do not. I do not learn their names. No. No. Would you like to learn them right now? Baby sting? Uh-huh. Brown hair. You got it? Boy meets the world. Uh-huh. Blonde hair. And guy. We nailed it. Yeah. to tell me their real names?
Starting point is 00:06:02 Paul, Karen, Marcy, Jeff, and Henry? I don't know which, any of which is. Rider Strong is Paul. Blondie is Jeff. Marcy, or blondie guy, Sting. Sting, sting, yeah. Karen is blonde. Yeah. Marcy is the brown hair woman.
Starting point is 00:06:23 And then Henry. Henry? Henry? Is that right? Are you sure that doesn't sound right? That's what Wikipedia is telling me. That's fine, who cares? He should be called Bozo.
Starting point is 00:06:35 Yeah, he, he, 100% is. Ryder Strong was on Boymese World. That is his claim to fame. I didn't watch that show much, but occasionally I saw it here and there. He has aged but looks exactly the same. Yeah. Exactly the same. And it's a little weird. I don't like that. He should look different.
Starting point is 00:06:54 He still looks vaguely like Eddie Munster to me. Okay. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. But yeah, he is not. I feel like this was his movie was like, I'm not just boy meets world. Look, yeah. Don't stop calling me boy meets world. There's also a Power Ranger in this. Was it brown hair? Yeah. Yeah, she's real buff.
Starting point is 00:07:10 Yeah, surprisingly buff. Uh, and I feel like this was also her movie. I don't like it. And I'm more than a power ranger. Here, the shitty guy's name. Yeah, where'd you get Henry? I don't know. I don't like it. It's gone. All right. They go to this cabin, a cabin in the woods.
Starting point is 00:07:30 We are not told why they're going to this cabin, except somebody's mom has suggested it or something. I don't, if they're mad at someone's mom, I don't get it, and it's not explained it's not explained it's not explained it's not explained it's not explained it's not explained. though. As far as cabins go. I know. Jeff and Marcy get right down the boning. Yeah. Or I'm sorry, sting and brown hair. Right, better. It's weird because they don't stare at each other for a really long time first. That's sting jokes. Everybody likes a sting joke, right? Who doesn't love tantrick sex humor? Oh god. I bet Sting doesn't. No, I bet Sting's it very seriously. And don't call me Gordon.
Starting point is 00:08:08 Sting, I do not want to fuck you for eight hours. I don't want to fuck you for a hour. He wouldn't put in an hour on fucking sting. No, I'm good. So Paul and Karen go off to go swimming and Bert goes off to go shooting squirrels. Yes. They have a lot of guns and ammunition in this movie. They just have them.
Starting point is 00:08:33 It's the woods. Yeah. And Paul is a toxic masculinity? I don't even remember. Ryder Strong is just trying to like get with Karen the whole time, even though she's like vaguely not at all interested in him in like, I was waiting for him to talk about being in the friend zone. Oh right, I think we're supposed to think he's like sweet.
Starting point is 00:08:54 Yeah. I don't feel that way about it. Yeah. I do like that. but then he takes his shirt off and he's just like a little bit doughy. You know, he's like a regular dude and he has like a lot of nipple hair. I think that would be a dad bod. Yeah, he has a dad bud. Yeah. I mean, like, don't lift for this role. No. Don't put yourself out. That doesn't remind me the one guy, like the pot smoking guy from Cabin the that's, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the the the the the the the the the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, Crans. Franz Grans. Not his name. So Bert goes out to shoot a squirrel and instead shoots a dude, our guy from the beginning.
Starting point is 00:09:37 Dennis Duffy. Yeah. Bunko Duffy. Rydder and Karen Smooch. It's an image. Rider. Who names to get Rider Strong? It's very Mormon. It really is. It feels very like, I want this kid to be a Hollywood star. Yeah. Yeah. Let's give him a name like Lake Speed or Rider Strong.
Starting point is 00:09:58 Lake Speed, that big star. He shoots the dude. He starts a campfire completely outside of the campfire ring. Yeah, just out of, um, boredom? Flammable. No, flammable. Flammable. Flatter fluid. Flammables? No, it's not a word.
Starting point is 00:10:21 I mean, it's a word. It doesn't mean anything. Well, this was a joke that I enjoyed. Tell me. When Jeff Sting calls, the the the the the the the the the th, thi thi fires thine the the thine thi thi the thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi th. th. th. He's that thi thi, that th. He th. He he. He he. He he. He starts th. He starts th. He starts th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thatt. thatt. thatt. thatt. thate. thatea thatea thatea thatea. that that that the that thatea. thatea that It doesn't mean anything. Well, this was a joke that I enjoyed. Tell me. When Jeff Sting calls him out on it, because they're putting out the fire when he comes back after shooting the guy, he's like, what are you fucking smoking the clown?
Starting point is 00:10:35 That scene I have written down, fuck count, because everybody says fuck. Every line of that scene. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thine. thu. thu, thu. thu, thu, thu, thu, thi. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, it's, it's, thi, thi, thi, thi, they're they're they're they're their their their they're their they're they're they're they're they're they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's. they's. they's. they's. they's. they's. they's. they's. they's. they's. they's. they's they's they's they're the thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thiii. thi. thi. thi. they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're th scene. Come on. It's how I felt about Sid Hague in House of a Thousand Corpses. It's just like you can't just say fuck it. I mean... Unnecessary swearing? Make it count. Make it mean something. These are powerful and beautiful words and we should use them appropriately. That's exactly what I'm saying. So they're sitting around the campfire now. This scene. This scene. I should tell you that I did watch the 2016 remake. You did?
Starting point is 00:11:11 I watched it and fast forward and like stopping every once in a while to see. They didn't change much. Okay. But like when the one guy, the Burt in that movie goes out hunting, he's got like an AR-15 with them. Yeah. Wow. And when they do do do do do do do do do do the fire the fire the fire the fire the fire the fire they do do do do do do the fire the fire the fire the fire the fire the fire they Wow. And when they do the fire, the campfire scene, they don't show the flashback. They just tell the story.
Starting point is 00:11:29 I liked the flashback, actually. I thought, yeah. I thought, yeah. It's the first time we see Eli Roth. It's actually his brother. Exactly like him. I know. Maybe they're twins?
Starting point is 00:11:47 I don't know. Look it up. While you tell me what the flashback is. Paul tells a story the ball return and like he chopped them up and with an axe and all this stuff. But they show it in flashback and that was really fun. It was like a fun little slasher movie like stuck into this movie. Yeah. It's in like a dark, it's a dark scene. You know what I mean? The way it's shot is like in darkness and it's just very, I liked it a lot.
Starting point is 00:12:26 Yeah. I guess I can't tell if Adam is his twin or not. I don't know, it just says brother. They're just bros. Yeah. But then, Eli Roth really does show up. Yeah. Why? He's just it but you can call him crimmed. Faced? I don't know know what th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th the. I th. I don't know th. th. th. th. th. the the th. the the way th. the way th. Yeah, the the the the way. Yeah, I the the the the the way. the the way. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah. Yeah. th. Yeah. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. th. It's th. faced means. I don't know what Cardi B means now. I just don't know. I just don't know what Carty B means. I mean, I know what it means. I learned a teen word recently. Oh, go ahead.
Starting point is 00:13:01 Snack? It's like, do you know what it means? Other than like an in-between meals, little morsel? I think it's like a hot guy, a snack. Oh, weird. I learned this from my co-worker, who is in her 50s, because her teenage daughter told her. Oh, I got you.
Starting point is 00:13:17 And I was like, I was like, Rob, I know something. Bodeck, yellow, yellow, yellow, yellow, yellow, yellow, yellow, yellow, yellow, yellow, yellow, yellow, yellow, yellow, yellow, yellow, and yellow, and yellow, and yellow, and yellow, and yellow, and, and yellow, and yellow, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. th. th. th. th. th. th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. th, th. th. th. th. th. th. to, to, to, to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yes. Uh, I had that thing where like you're standing the grocery store line and you look over at the like famous people magazines and I went, nope, none of them. I only know them now because they got those Royals on them and I understand them. Okay. Yeah. Every once a while like something will happen to Brooke Shields. I'm like, I'm back in. Tell me more Brooks Shields, are you okay? Tom Kruggs. So this is what we meet the best, best character in the movie. Why is he in this movie?
Starting point is 00:13:52 Dr. Mambo? Why? Why? Why? Why? He never shows up again? No. He has served literally no purpose except to give him a bunch of weed He doesn't even give them weed he takes it with him when he leaves. Yeah, that's true. That's true
Starting point is 00:14:06 That's true. He never comes back. It's literally the worst Decision in this movie and there are a lot of bad decisions in this movie. It's his M-night moment It is but even but he doesn't give any exposition he doesn't give any exposition he? And M-Night like makes his character someone who needs to be in the movie. A doctor who's telling you something, like, you know what I mean? He has a purpose. I wonder if they auditioned a bunch of people for this part and he's like, just no, it can be grim. And he's just like shaved down to a soul patch and was like, it's like, it's a today. to that me, it me! when he came in and said, that's a positive bonfire. He's not a bad actor.
Starting point is 00:14:45 I want to say, I think he's enjoyable to watch, but he just served no purpose. He's really good in that Quentin Tarantino Nazi movie. What's it called? Inglary's bastards. Oh. Yeah. I know that. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:15:00 I don't know. That's a very Tarantino role. Yeah. Yeah. So then they're in the house, I guess, and... Did we talk, do the guy already come back to their campsite yet? No, this is gonna happen after this. They're telling like masturbation stories and stuff, and Bert tells one about a dog licking off, and it's like th the. Yeah. Also bird is like 40, right? And then yeah they get a knock on the
Starting point is 00:15:34 door and that's when the hermit shows back up and he's real fucked up looking now. His skin is all jacked up. Yeah. Did we talk about how the dog squirted him in the face? I already don't remember. No, when he opened pizza dog, pizza dog shot him in the face. Better. Done and done and the hermit tries to steal their car after Bert slams the door in this face. He's like, we're not fucking doing this. Yeah, and the women are like, we have to help. No, you don't, just because because just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just, just because because because because because because because th th, just because th, just because th, just because thi th, just because th, just because th, just th, just th, just their, just their, just, just, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, th. th. th. th. to to th. to th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th to to the to to to to the to to the to the the to to the thi. doesn't mean you have to help. And the Herbert pukes blood all over their car. And I really like that. Yeah, for sure. If I could puke blood on command when someone upsets me.
Starting point is 00:16:13 Oh my god, imagine how that would affect the people in your life. Oh, work would be great. Yeah. No one would ever fuck with you. And they eventually, they start hitting it with sticks and shooting guns at him and then they light him on fire. And he runs off into the woods. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:35 There's a long seed of Rider Strong playing with honey. Why? It gets all over everything. It's impossible to clean up. Why are you doing that? And what are we supposed to take from that? It's also delicious and you're just wasting it right or strong. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:49 You know what? Yeah. I think Bert was also in Detroit Rock City. Oh, really? That's all I wanted to say. I have never seen it. you've never seen it. You should really really. that. that. that. that. that. that. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that. that. that. that. to to to. thi. thi. to thi. to to thi. to that. that. that. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. to be. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. the. thea. thea. thea. tea. tea. tea. tea. tea. toea. toea. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. that movie. It's pretty good. I will. And got Eddie for a long in it? And then remember that picture that you like of him? It doesn't matter.
Starting point is 00:17:11 I need to see that, and then the other one about the high school in Texas. The high school in Texas. Yeah, uh, with McConaughey. Oh, days and confused. Come on, guy. What, I've just gotten, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. than. than. thi. thi. thi. thi. tho. tho. tho. thi. thi. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. tha. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. the. thi. thi., I just gotten around to seeing whatever that movie was. You can't hardly wait. Come on, show a little respect. What's happening? I just wanted to show you something. I've got a lot of pictures on here.
Starting point is 00:17:39 It's fucking Edward Furlong. It is Edward Burlong with a half-ponytail. Oh God, he's so high. Oh my god, yeah. Yeah. Not to tangent too far, did you see that Bill and Ted are doing a third movie? No. Yeah, yeah. They're doing a third one. And we were looking at pictures from like original Bill and Ted are obviously so fucking stone to do it's amazing. I love that.
Starting point is 00:18:06 That's very good. I'll watch Keona Reeves do anything. It does seem that way that you will do that. He's great. He's a Canadian treasure. Um, I never knew he was Canadian. Starting point is 00:18:36 And there's like a tooth in it though. Is it? Yeah. This is where I have the note. This is just realized I was looking at my phone in the last five or so minutes. So I think I must have missed it there. Yeah there's a tooth and because they show you him getting the giving her the tooth glass and then later there's the glass and there's no tooth in it. She's

Meanwhile, Marcy's being badass and like, taking a canoe across the lake, and like breaking into somebody's house and like, just follow her. While wearing low-rise flare jeans because it's 2002. Extreme low-rise.
Starting point is 00:19:37 It was like the boot cutiest boot. Yeah, that's a flare. Oh, that's a full-blown flare. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Um, and... Then the cop shows up. I guess, I don't know. Your phone. I do have a thing, this is officer of Detroit Rock City, so I guess. Yeah. And he's literally just talks about partying. Yeah. I like that guy.
Starting point is 00:20:03 I want to show you something about that guy. His name, Giuseppe Andrews. Have you ever looked at Giuseppe Andrews filmography as a director? No. Oh, allow me to scroll for you. Yada da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da da. What is all that? It's all these weird avant-garde movies that he makes. Starting point is 00:20:30 Uh-huh. Uh-huh. These are just words. Birth of the pool. Birth of the pool. P-O-O-L. P.O-O-L. A homo-Robot-P Pregnant with a swastika.
Starting point is 00:20:45 Pregnant with a swastika? This is Mad Libs. Japanese Confusion? These are the names of this guy's movie. How do we see these? Airplayed pillows. Sir. Carbonzo gas? That's a real thing.
Starting point is 00:21:01 I'll be there. He's made like a million movies. That's great. thing. I've been there. Can't attest. Yeah, he's made like a million movies. That's great. Good for him. And apparently like in the avant-garde movie scene, he's well respected. Good for you, Giuseppe, Andrews. You can't just give your child an ethnic name when they don't have an ethnic last name, I feel. You just can't. No. Lorenzo Smith.
Starting point is 00:21:26 Yeah. He just talks about partying and pussy and then bikes away. He's like, I'm gonna help. I'll help you guys, I'll get a tow truck. By. And just leaves. And totally forgets about the tow tro truck is Dr. Mambo. And he's pissed. I see. Why is he so mad?
Starting point is 00:21:47 Because he's got that infection. Why doesn't it just make him all yucked up, though? Yeah, I don't know. It just makes him mad. Okay, I just make any sense, but fine. There's a lot of rules to this stuff. Is there? Like you have there's the shed scene. There's the snuggling scene. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:22:10 Her Karen and Ryder are snuggling. I like that you're calling him as Ryder. Yeah, it's fine. And, uh, what's the delicate way of saying this? He gropes her. Yeah, and she's moaning. And then you realize after he pulls the cover away that he's that he's that he's th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, the the th, th, the th, th, the th, the th, the th, the th, th, th, thin, the th, the the the the the th, th, the the the the the the the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the, the, the, the, the-s-s the-s-s-s-s-s-s-snugnugnug-s-s-snugging-snugging, snuggling-s-s-s-s-snugging-s-s-s thuse-s this? He gropes her. Yeah, and she's moaning, and then you realize after he pulls the cover away, that he's been digitally manipulating a leg wound? Yeah, it does not seem to hurt her though.
Starting point is 00:22:34 No. Because I feel like you jump, you know. Ah, and this is when the Battle Lamente score is really, Battle of Mente. And I did enjoy while it was all happening thatinginginginginginginginginginging that that that that that that that that that that was all that was all that was all that was all that was all that was all that was all that was all that was all that was all that was all that was all that was all that was all that was that was that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that was that was that was that was all that was all that was all that was all that was all that was all that was all the the th was all the Battle Lament score is really, Battle of Mente. Battlement. And I did enjoy, while it was all happening, that there's the subtitle, Squishing. Yes, I did write down Squishing. She just didn't feel that, though. That doesn't make any sense. But this is when Bert has made a bet that he can drink beer all weekend.
Starting point is 00:23:02 Only beer, no water, nothing else, yeah. And so this is where it comes out to be a real shining choice for him. They put Karen in the shed, they check each other's bodies. They're like not at all concerned that the boy meets world has touched her though. No. They're like, Karen has to, first of all, she can't stay in her room. okay that he touched her. It makes no goddamn sense. To the point of Marcy had sex with him. Right, right. And then they go in there in the morning and just go hug her. Just hug her all over, hug her with all of their bodies. Why? Why did she have to sleep in the shed if they were gonna hug her?
Starting point is 00:23:38 They're not making the best choices. No. And she's locked in the shed. Right. I have the note I like yelling ah noises, but I don't remember what that was for. Don't know. I was probably looking at my phone. Oh. Ryder Strong goes to find help and he just ends up peeping in a window at a naked lady and then getting a shotgun fold on him? Yeah, who were those people? Just regulars around the house? Sure. I mean, this th th th th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. I'm th. I mean this movie, nothing happens and nothing matters is how I feel. Bert eventually drinks water, the doggo gets into the shed, Dr. Mambo eats Karen's face. Yeah I guess. She's like still alive I guess.
Starting point is 00:24:21 And then he... There are guns everywhere on this property and he beats her to death with a shovel. No, I don't know. I don't know. I don't. I don't know. I'm gonna, I don't. I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I th, I th, I the, I the the the th. And then he, there are guns everywhere on this property and he beats her to death with a shovel. No, I don't believe that for a moment. Yeah. He literally, you see him beating her to death with a shovel and then in the next scene he's carrying a shotgun. Boom. No. No. Okay, okay. But what? If I had to kill you, Alan, I'm going to have a much easier time. If I'm going to Mercy kill you, I don't have a much easier time pulling a trigger than beating you with a shovel. You're right.
Starting point is 00:24:53 You're absolutely right. It's much more merciful. It's much more merciful. It's not multiple you don't know, I mean, oh forget it, I don't even need to get into the mys. I liked when a rider and Marcy had sex and then he puts Listerine on his wienus. It's a good idea. She says, don't worry, I'm healthy.
Starting point is 00:25:13 You don't use condoms, don't worry, I'm healthy. That's what killed Easy-Ea. It's true. He didn't wear condoms because he only fucked clean ladies. He said bitches. He did say bitches. I cleaned it up for him. That was nice it, yeah. RIP easy, I guess. We see that Marcy has a, where Ryder was grabbing her back, she now has like wounds on her back. Yeah. And then she shaves her legs. I actually kind of love this. Do you? I won't even shape my legs if I have a sunburned. This lady lady sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh sh- th. She she she she she she she sh- th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I the. I te. I teeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeea. I the. I th. I this. Do you? Like, I won't even shave my legs if I have a sunburn. This lady shaving her legs with a skin infection. She shapes her skin off. Why does she do that? Settle down, Marcy.
Starting point is 00:25:50 I don't know. You ever had like that, a hangnail and you just keep picking at it, you just keep picking at it? I guess so. you just have to keep like rubbing it against your teeth until it really hurts. I told you about my ultimate stupidity sunburn, right? I was driving, we were in California and I was driving with my arm up and I'm the window. And I peeled the blister off my upper arm. Oh my god. Because it was so rewarding to peel it.
Starting point is 00:26:18 Oh my god. Picking its skin, peeling skin is so satisfying. So maybe shaving it off. You gotta get get your your your your your your your your your your your your your your your your your to get to get to get to get to get the it off would just take it to the next level. I don't just use your, you gotta get your fingers, because you have to like change the velocity and the trajectory. Yeah, there's a feel. It's a very professional activity. You guys like that? Is that cool?
Starting point is 00:26:36 You want us to hear us also an art to picking babies boogers. It's like a tiny game of operation, but you have to like, because you have to really get in there. Sure. And they don't want you to do it. Why would you? Do you have to do it? You don't want someone else picking your nose? Well, learn to fucking your nose. then.
Starting point is 00:27:00 She shaved her skin off. Do we mention that? Uh, Dr. Mambo's eaten Karen. He, okay, so here's another dumb thing. He could just lock the door. Lock Dr. Mumbo in there and said he just leaves the door up and runs away. Yeah, because Karen, he's beaten her to death. He's beating her to death already, right? Oh, no, no, no, he kills Dr. Mambo. And then. he. he. He he. He he. He he. He k, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, th. He th. He th. He to to th. He to th. to th. to to to to th. to to th. He to to th. He, hetoo. And then he kills Karen. Yeah. I have the note, teeth. She had nice teeth. She did.
Starting point is 00:27:27 Yeah. How did you feel about the special effect on that? And all of this stuff. Yeah. I thought the, well, we, have we already seen it? Yeah, the body and the water when they find the bodythat looked very cool. I liked that a lot. Why do I have the note that says poor deer? Oh, it gets, it's a deer with a truck. Oh, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:50 And it gets stuck. And it's like freaking out? Yeah. I think it's supposed to be infected. That's why it's so mobile after it's been hit. Oh, I thought it was just dying and sad, which made to be to to to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be this deer being funnier. What? What? What comedy jokes did you like about that? Maybe you have to think of like evil dead where there's like the one seeing with a deer's head is on the wall like laughing at it? That's funny? Yeah. Yeah. This is not.
Starting point is 00:28:20 No. I do have the note the deer's real grabby with its hopes. So Rider Strong comes upon the partying cop again. Oh right, he's with a bunch of teens. Yeah, that's funny. Yeah, that's funny. Just talking about partying with the teens. Yes. All he cares about is partying with the teens. Is that guy also funny in Detroit Rock City?
Starting point is 00:28:46 The whole movie is pretty funny. Is it? Yeah, you're gonna like it. You're gonna like it. And it's all about kiss, right? Yeah, it's all about kiss. There's a good disco in there too that you'll really like. Okay, all right?
Starting point is 00:28:57 Spoilers for the hospital. Yeah, from the deputy. But then the deputy gets radio that like... To kill the kids? Yeah. Can you make that call as a cop, I guess? That's the thing you can say over the radio. Yeah. I like the one...
Starting point is 00:29:18 He's like, yeah, I'm not sure what the walkie-talkie dude. So like, here's where this movie and its lack of comedy really hit me was like, the guy is playing the harmonica during the scuffle, which I liked. Playing the harmonica is funny. Swallowing it is not funny. And then making harmonica noises later as you're dying? It's so daffy duck, I hate it. It's like Eli Roth found a joke and he was like, there, to kill it before it can get away. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:29:49 Like, get it before anyone laughs at it, just running into the ground. Yeah. I don't know what I'm trying to say. He, Eli Roth did. So a trucker picks up Ryder after the massacre of the party. Okay. And just like throws th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th of the party. Okay. And just like throws him in front of the hospital? Yeah, dumps him. What happens to him there? I don't remember.
Starting point is 00:30:10 He sees the Easter Bunny. I was going to say, can I read you my last four notes? Yeah. Easter Bunny? This feels endless. Cops. What? Yeah. Why did it see the Easter Bunny? He sees these, he's in the hospital and the Easter Bunny's visiting some kid.
Starting point is 00:30:29 Oh, did you think that was like a shining nod? Yeah, I thought so. Yeah, I remember now. And he dreams of like having a nice walk with Karen or something. Yeah. She's dead though. Because he beat her death of the shovel instead of mercifully killing her with a gun that he had in his possession.
Starting point is 00:30:50 We finally see Jeff again, who is right, I'm sorry, we finally see Sting again. A baby sting, yeah, baby sting comes back. He's run off into the woods and then came back and he's fine. He took his sixters and left. Fine. And he comes running out of the house as the cops are showing up to check the place? He's like so joyful that he lived. Even though like his girlfriend's foot is in a shoe and that's all there is left. Oh, Dr. Mambo did that to her too, right? Yeah, Dr. Mambo chases her down.
Starting point is 00:31:19 And then the cops shoot Jeff, baby sting. Like brutally, yeah. One but zillion. Yeah. Yeah. the the the the the the the thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi th. thi thi thi thi brutally, a butzillion times. One but zillion. Yeah. And then we see little kids filling up jugs at the reservoir. Oh, yeah. I think that's what I was saying what about. No, I know what I was saying, what about?
Starting point is 00:31:39 Was it the final joke? And I am just making air quotes so hard with my fingers over and over and over. So we go back to the country store and there's like a huge truck that's like, hometown spring water drives by and you're supposed to imply that they got that from the reservoir and like all these people are drinking lemonade that these little kids made from the reservoir, the cops are all drinking it. And so, and then three African-American folks walk up.
Starting point is 00:32:17 And you think, oh no, we know how this guy feels about African-American folks. And then what happened? He calls him the N-word and gives him the gun. And they call him the N-word. And everybody says n-word because it's okay because they're black. And it's just very unnecessary too. Yeah, it's like a joke that like, ugh, this is gonna be the fucking best payoff. It's gonna, an hour and a half later, this joke is gonna fucking knock your socks off. Oh boy, it does not. It's like my socks flat. Firmly on my feet. Then there's th is th is there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's the th. Oh, thoing. Oh, thoing. Oh, thoom. Oh, thoombock's thoombocked. Oh. Oh, thoombocked. Oh, thoom!!! Oh, thoom! Oh, thoom!. Oh, thoom!. Oh, thoom. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, thi. Oh, thi. Oh, thi. Oh, it's thi. Oh, thi. Oh, tho. Oh, tha. Oh, thooo-a. Oh, tha'a'er. Oh, thoo'er. Oh, tho. Oh, th feet. Then there's a hoe down and everybody drinks lemonade and that's the end of the movie.
Starting point is 00:32:46 Oh boy. Katie, you know what my next question is. Why did we do this movie? No, why wasn't DePanga in this? She got her own show? She got a girl meets world show? She did, yeah, I'm not sure if it's still... Who knows who cares? She was doing
Starting point is 00:33:05 like a talk soup type show for a while too. Okay. I don't know why I know that. I don't know why you do it either. I also don't know what Doc Soup is. Doc Soup is a British crime drama about a retired country doctor who along with his neighbor who runs a deli? He's soupsy. I was hoping he was going to be a doctor and a superintendent of a building. Oh, no, no, I'm looking at it as a team. It's a team.
Starting point is 00:33:36 It's a team, doc and soup. It's not going anywhere. That's an Eli Roth joke. That is. But you know what? I didn't write it down. And have somebody else say it. This is a really a positive ratings phase. You want to go to the raising phase? Yeah, I guess.
Starting point is 00:33:53 All right. Three. Justify it. Nuh. You just did for the last half hour. I just spent a long time. I mean it's like I like an infection movie I guess but it's like it doesn't make any sense I like a comedy but it's not very funny yeah and I like a teen romp but then none of them are like a theyme they're just like
Starting point is 00:34:15 so bad you can't even they're all flat you know what I mean like I don't care anything for any of them. Yeah, and not for like the actors' fault or anything like that. No, no, it's just the way they're written. Yeah, it's the script. I guess Eli Roth wrote this in 1995 when he was fresh out of college. Oh, nice. So I guess maybe that explains some things. Okay. Yeah, three. I like if this is for you, it's like the Rob zombie effect. If this is for you, this is for you, do your thing. Right. This is not for me. No. Why is it not for you? Justify it. That's how you said it, obviously just rewind and listen again. Justify it. It just falls flat. You're exactly right in that. It just doesn't have any like, I remember seeing in the the theater and be like, just, just, just, just, just, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, this is, this is this is not, this is not, this, this is not, this, this is, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. This is not, thus, this is not, this is not, this is not, this is not, this is not, this is not, this is not, thi, thi. You're exactly right in that. It just doesn't have any like... I remember seeing the theater and being like, well, that was a thing. It wasn't... You saw this in the theater? Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:10 Oh, buddy. Uh, you know. What else are you going to do? Good answer. You're in Philadelphia in 2002. What else you're going to give it a five? It's fine. It's, I I I I I I I I I I I I I I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I'm, I'm, it, it, it, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's th, it, it's th. It's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it, it's, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, th. It's just like, it's so middle of the road. There's nothing like... I'm surprised you're not giving it a worse rating, if I could be honest with you. Okay, I appreciate your honesty. Yeah, because you really hate stuff that's really bad. Yeah, the thing is like, I don't, it's even worse than being really bad, it's just like, yeah.
Starting point is 00:35:39 See, that's worse than being really bad. See, that's worse than being really bad. Yeah. So, yeah, well, I'm going to try to influence you. It's a one! Nah, it's fine, you can be a five. Yeah, I think it's just a total the middle of the room movie. I'm not going to say don't watch it. I would say don't watch it.
Starting point is 00:35:54 I think there are a lot better horror comedies. I mean, if you want to watch an Eli Roth movie, I guess just watch Hostel. If you hate everything so much. I had a friend that passed out in that movie. I don't, I don't doubt that. I found it very upsetting. Where do you come down on torture porn? I hate it. Yeah. Of course I do.
Starting point is 00:36:16 Okay. What? It's not, that the realism to go so far, but like, I didn't mind hostile, but there's like the, you didn't mind it. I didn't mind it. I didn't mind it. I mean, it's fine. I just hated everybody in it.
Starting point is 00:36:33 Sure, what about, um, oh, she's in it. the second one, the second I liked the second one better. I didn't see that one. I just knew she was in it. There's like an Elizabeth Bathory kill in that that's pretty. Okay. But yeah, it's just like, there's like those like Pittsburgh's owned August Underground production, like they make movies. And they're like so bad that people have thought they were snuff films. Like by bad, I mean like disgusting. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:05 Torture, mutilation, special effects. Like that's too much for me. And I appreciate the artistry of it. Sure. But I just don't want to watch it. It's like, it's kind of like porn where like, it's fine that you're doing, like octopus porn or something. Oh no, is that's... Bowling pin porn. Like, it's just not for me.
Starting point is 00:37:27 I was going to ask the dumbest question. Yeah. Those aren't things, right? Of course they are. Of course they are. Of course they are. I'm 100% sure that both of those are. Oh yeah, without a doubt. but there's like some rule like anything you can think of is a pornograp. It's already a porn, yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:46 Fine, make them do it. I'm not doing it. I'm gonna watch it. Yeah, there's plenty of other things to watch. But then I watched cabin fever, so like, I don't know. Yeah, this is your second time watching it. Yeah, at least. I definitely didn't realize it was a comedy the first time. Katie. Alan. I would like to make a suggestion.
Starting point is 00:38:09 I am open to suggestions. I appreciate that. I would like for us to take the suggestion of a listener. You're suggesting a suggestion. Yeah, double suggestion. I'll check the suggestion box. That's a sound of a box opening. Chip-chip-chip-chip-chip-ch-tip-tip-tip-tip, chip, chip, chip. Chip chip chip.
