Episode Date: July 16, 2018

We're back to the Argento well this week with the 1975 giallo film "Deep Red," suggested to us by listener Dan G (how did we miss making a DANG joke? Because we're not that good, really). Special topi...cs for your consideration include: smashing faces into glass, the pinnacle of inept police work, "Indian" wrestling?!, the effect of cutting like 1/3 of this movie, being super wiggy and seeing how many times we can say "giallo," obviously. Do you like Italian horror? Check out some of our other episodes: Episode 23- "Suspiria," Episode 41- "The Last Shark (L'Ultimo Squalo)", Episode 72- "The Beyond" and Episode 84- "Demons." Starting point is 00:00:00 It's so hot and I think he's been out of the to the tip. It's Savini watch 2k 18 and we forgot to tell you. It's Savinie watch 2k 18 and we forgot to tell you. It's so hot. It's so hot and I think he's been out of town recently because I didn't see his car. I have to go past his house on my way to work and his car hasn't been parked there for a little while but this morning it was there. Okay. I'm going to the pool this afternoon because it's still morning and I've just given away our illusion that we're alive. So I'll let you know if he is there to do than to tan those sweet, sweet thighs like next to the pool? They're so tan. God bless him.
Starting point is 00:00:48 Tom Savini, Tom Savinie live in his best life. Beep, beep, beep, beep, beep. That's it. We're exiting. We're exiting. Katie. Beak.
Starting point is 00:01:03 Y. . Katie, Bee-Bee-Bee-Bee-Bee, Be! Welcome to Chiallo Watch 2018. I think it's over because we already saw the Gialo. We already watched the Gialo. What did we watch? Deep Red. Deep Red by Darry or Dental. Sugge, to us by Dan G on Twitter.
Starting point is 00:01:18 Do we come up with anything for Dan G? Dan Glover was the best that we came with last time. That was literally eight minutes ago. Dan, Little Sluggy. Dan, do you go by Little Sluggy? You do now. This is our return to Argento, or second Argento movie. Yeah, it's been a long time. Sesperia was like episode 10 or something. Yeah, something. Was that a guest? No. That was you? That was a me. Yeah. I liked this better than Susperea. Interesting because the version you saw of it is not a complete film. What? So I watched this movie twice. I watched the version that's on Amazon.
Starting point is 00:01:59 The free one. Yeah. Yeah. And then I watch the version of it that I own. On a digital, visital, digital, visital. Digital, visital. Digital, visibule, dirk. Digital, vestibule, dirk. A dizzy.
Starting point is 00:02:12 That is it. Uh, vestibule, dirk. Hi, I'm vestibule dirk. How did I not say dick is really the question. You're classing it up. The version that I watched this morning is two hours and six minutes long. There's an extra 20 minutes? Yes, and you know what those 20 minutes are? What? Cohesive story telling?
Starting point is 00:02:32 OK, OK. I'm standing up. I can't take it. You know how this movie, I thought that was style. No, there's a lot of dialogue that was chopped out of it. There's a lot of all of the comedy is taken out of it. There's like comedy in this movie. I think it was fine without comedy though. I really do. Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:56 And most of the gore was removed. That I could have done with more of go. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. That I. That I. That I. That I. That I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I could. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I could. I could. I could. I could. I could. I could. I could. I could. I could. I could. Yes, yes. I don't know what his name is. He gets his teeth bashed out on a marble. Yeah. I saw that. Okay. Yeah. But there's more of it. Okay. Well, there was a lot of bashing. There's a lot of bashing. So yeah, we're talking deep red. this is a the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. the. tho, thi. thi. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the. th. the the the the red this is a considered his best Gialo movie
Starting point is 00:03:27 Jalo. Jalo movie. I was trying to come up with a game for this that was either yellow or Jalo. You had to guess which it was but I didn't get it forlifully formulated formulated like smash hit by cold play. Jalo. Cardi Beast, Bodeck. Jello? Yellow. There's always room for. We can't say that anymore, can we? Because Bill Cosby?
Starting point is 00:03:57 Jello is done. Jello is dead. You know what, that sucks to, because I like a pudding pop. We just have to eat him without thinking about him. Yeah, that's fine. I can do that. Yeah done and done How we how we talk about this movie because it's crazy town? This movie is about It has the classic Giallollo Cops are useless. Yeah
Starting point is 00:04:19 Untrained person is investigator. Would you agree with that? Untrained jazz musician. I don't understand how he has so much time and interest, but whatever. Because he doesn't seem particularly like, he has no motivation to solve this. Yeah. Right. Well, that's another thing of these movies. Usually the cop is like, oh, you can't leave town until we know what's happening. So that's the motive. But this doesn't even have that. The cop is of all of the inept cops we've seen in a hundred and what 90 episodes of this show.
Starting point is 00:04:49 Yeah. He's the worst. They cut out the scene where he fights with a Coke machine for a really long time. I would have loved that. I would have loved to have seen that. Yeah, he's fucking. He's the worst. He's the worst. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's the worst. He's the worst. He's the worst. He's the worst. He's the worst. He's the worst. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's eating. He's the. He's the. He's the. He's the. He's the. He's the. He's the. He's the. He's the. He's the. He's the. He's the. He's the. He's the fucking he's the worst he's eating a sandwich for most of the time we're seeing him on screen I don't think I saw I need a sandwich so that must have gun cut oh yeah, he's like pointing with a sandwich and then taking bites of it and pointing again I mean we'll talk about what his behavior at the end of this movie but it is I can't imagine how he still has a job as an actor or a cop same yeah yeah agree I love the opening sequence. th. the the the the the the the the th. the the the the the th. the the th. the th. the th. the th. I the th. I th. I th. I the th. I th. I the th. I the th. I thi thi the. I the. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I love the opening sequence in this with like the shadow play murder that we see and then the knife falling in front of the little kid's shoes, the Christmas tree and all that with the nightmarish children's song playing. Gets right into it. La la la la la la la. Is that what they think children's music sounds like? Let me suggest a song to you. It's called Shake Your Sillies Out.
Starting point is 00:05:48 That's a good children's song. It doesn't go, La la la la la. That's it. Later on when we see the actual murder go down, when the kid picks up the knife, he's doing the la la la las while he's staring at the the na. Yeah. Okay, so we meet the telepath, Helga, Helga, who's hair is a phenomenal. Is that a wig? It looks beautiful. That's her real hair.
Starting point is 00:06:14 That's great. Her skin was great too. I say like I fucking know. No, I agree. Oh, that's her hair. You don't ever until look like that. I was just asking. regardless, look beautiful. Yeah. And Dr. Guadanino? Uh, no, that's Julianna. What the fuck is that guy's name? There's too many people in this god-da-da-no. Jordano? Yeah. Jordano? Yeah. Jordano.
Starting point is 00:06:41 Jordano. Jordano. Jalo. And some other guy that I didn't like very much. The ascot wearing guy. I don't know why he existed in this movie. They are introducing us to Helga, who is a telepath. And they say that newborns are telepaths and then they grow out of it. How the fuck you know that? Oh, you can tell. I just don't think you can.
Starting point is 00:07:09 They say a lot of bullshit in this movie. Yeah. In the edited version, they cut out. There's like a card outside of the theater that says it's like a parpsychology conference. So they just cut that out and you're just like dumped into this thing. You're like, why would that get cut though? Like, why that of all things? I don't know. There's all this weird stuff that's cut out that I'm just like, why is that not in there? Like what? That's very strange. I assume it's to get thuse that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that that that that's that that that that's that that's that that that's that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that's that's that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that th. th. th. that th. th. that th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. that's that that that that that that that that that that that thats in there that could have been cut. I don't know that that needed to be. That theater that they're in is god damn gorgeous. It's so cool. This is all in Rome.
Starting point is 00:07:49 Yeah, Rome and the interior stuff is in Torin. Oh, okay. Or Turin, or I don't know. Mm-hmm. So yeah, they're at the parapsychology thing and she starts bugging out? Well first she says I see things the moment they occur and I was like yeah bitch me too like that's what seeing is but then I understood what she meant. I also see things the very moment they occur. You know? It wouldn't be impressive if it was any other time you would probably want to get that checked out.
Starting point is 00:08:27 Yeah, but she bugs out. I love that she's like, okay, I'm good. I'm good. I'm fine. Yeah, right? Like what caused the break? And then there's a lot of drooling in this movie? Does he think that white stuff comes out of your mouth when you die? Because I don't think it does. I'm not a death expert, but I don't think it does. Katie, death expert. Death expert. Death expert. Yeah. We'll work on it. We'll work shop it. We'll fix it in post. I love that she's like, she takes a mouth full of water and then it just goes, blah, and spits it all over her face. And then does not wipe her face. Like even if you did that you would wipe their their their their their their death it their their death it their their death their their death their death their death their death their death their death their death their death their death to to to their death to their death death death death death death death their death death death death death death death their death death death death death death death death death their death death death death their death death death their death their death death their their their their their their their their death death death death their their their their their their their their their their their their their death their their their their their their their death. their death. their death. to to to to to to to toe. death. Death. Death. Death tip. Death ex. Death ex. Death ex. Death ex. Death ex. De. Death ex. te. Death tip. Death tip over her. So. And then does not wipe her face. Like even if you did that, you would wipe your face with your hand. She just lets it drip all over her perfect chin. You know that was directed to her too.
Starting point is 00:09:14 Yeah, they were like, spit it. Spit it and don't wipe it. Spit no wipe. Spit no wipe. Aren't you so glad you don't have to hear other people's thoughts? Just like the guy with the keys in his pocket, just like mundane shit. You just walk by someone on the street and they're like, gotta take a dump, gotta take a dump. You know, you're like. You know, you're like. Oh, the dump song.
Starting point is 00:09:34 I love the guy with the keys in his pocket. I love the keys in his pocket, which I mean really, come on, I can guess that most people do. Do I have keys in my pocket? No, they're in your purse. I mean fingers on Temple, they're in your purse. Yeah, I mean, I mean fingers on thea. Yeah, I believe it more now. Yeah, I believe it more. the way she could have known. I just arrived in Rome today. Yeah, yeah, you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you the the th. Yeah, you th. Yeah, you th. Yeah, you th. Yeah, you th. th. Yeah, th. th. Yeah, th. th. they's they's they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're th. I the. I the. I the lobby. Going, look at this one long key. Why, of the four that I have, is this one so long? It keeps poking my thigh. I better hold it with my hand while I sit here. Why are you holding your keys, sir?
Starting point is 00:10:16 That's the audience looks like an audience of serial killers. Yeah, everybody looks bad. But she starts freaking out freaking out, she goes, death, blood, our blood. Yeah, why? Whose blood? Who's blood? And then whoever she's looking at, we're like POV of them.
Starting point is 00:10:34 And they go to the bathroom. Oh. And they put on their leather gloves. Yeah. Like, leather gloves is the shit in these movies. Yeah. It's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, thi. thi. thi. thi. the, the, the, the, thi. the, the, th. th. th. too, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. toe. toe. toea. toea. toea. toea. toea. toea. toea. toea. toea. toea. toea. leather gloves is the shit in these movies. Yeah It's cool. It's a cool accessory. Yeah. I love zipping a glove on tight. Yeah Tite. She knows who the murder is blah blah blah. Friendship bracelet? Seashel art. Those are back-to-back lines that I have. Because we go into the Argento signature close-up on tiny things against a black background. What are those? Why are those? th those? th those? th those? th those th those th those th those? th those? th th th those? th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th tho? It's tho? It's a th- th-it, it's a th-s are tho th-s. It's a th. It's a th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's their their their their their their th. It's are th. It's are th. It's a thi thi thi their thi the their the thi the thi the the the the thi their their their their thi up on tiny things against a black background. What are those? Why are those?
Starting point is 00:11:08 Tell me about those. Is that explained in the other movie? No, of course not. No, all right. It's just, this movie loves a close up. Like when the guy puts a needle on the record and you're like on the record. Yeah. I don't mind it, but it. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. tho. tho. tho. th. that. tho. tho. tho. tho. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. the. the. the. tho. the. the. it goes from like big switchblade to little switchblade to tiny bassinet to yarn doll to kids drawing of a murder to a little statue to French lip bracelets to marble to a
Starting point is 00:11:33 devil doll to a devil doll to more barbels more switchblades like and then someone extremely putting on eyeliner. Yes. It looks like it would hurt. Yeah you gotta be Jundle. That's your eye. It's supposed to be like signifiers of the murderer, like their child's things, I guess, and then knives. But the problem with that, is that the murderer is not a child. What now? Yeah, I mean I don't want to spoil this one for you.
Starting point is 00:12:02 The murderer is a grown-ass woman. So why are all these child things? To throw you off the case, I think. I mean, I guess it did. I think the seashell was just an enormous seashell hanging on the wall of her apartment. Oh yeah. OK.
Starting point is 00:12:19 Her apartment were it's, she doesn't own that place. I don't know, she's renting. It's an Airbnb nightmare art. She says my, because she's talking on the phone and she says, I want this to happen during my stay in Italy. So she's just fucking hanging out. I'd be like, get me out of here. You wouldn't be like, this is when we meet, man, I have the note, hunky David Hemming. You think he's hunky?
Starting point is 00:12:49 No. He looks like he's made out of clay. But he was like a heart throb when he broke in the 60s. Oh, yeah. What year was this? This was 75? He was in a movie called Blowout, where he is a photographer who photographs a crime and then, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thiiiiiiii, thiiii, thi, thi, thi, ththen has to solve it. Somewhat similar to what's happening here. Except he's a pianist who has to pianist the song and then solve it. So he witnesses the murder of Helga. We see her in her apartment on the phone and then she hears the la-la-la music
Starting point is 00:13:15 and then someone comes in and meat cleaves her. Didn't see that she can't see the future because otherwise you would just say, why didn't you see that coming, right? She sees it at the very moment it occurs, though, I'll tell you what. That scene is also cut down. There's a few more wax with the, uh, okay. And when she gets shoved through the glass, there's like lingering shots of her head to the glass and stuff. It's a funny mannequin one that happens. I liked it a lot. But as a psychologist, and I am. Why do you think Argento loves shoving women's faces through panes of glass so much? That's a good question. I think he probably has something to do with his mother.
Starting point is 00:13:54 Mm-hmm. Because he's done it to his daughters in movies and his wife and all sorts of different people. I mean, cool guy. Yeah. He did. No, still making movies? Has in a couple years. Last one, well he did the mother of tears, like he did a movie that was a huge flop called Gialo, starring.
Starting point is 00:14:16 It's a little meta, a little on the nose. Staring, uh, fuck, who's that real skinny, that looks like Igabuggerbaugh, th, th, th, and everything, and th, and th, and a, and a, and a, and a, and a, and a, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and I, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, thi, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, th, to, th., th. th. So, th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi.a, thi.a, thi.a, thi.uh, thi.uh, thi.uh, thi.uh, uh's that real skinny guy that looks like Igabog Crane and everything, but it thinks it's hunky. Benedict Cumberbatch? No, uh, Adrian Brody. Yes. You mean from the village? Yes, yes, yes, yes. And apparently Adrian Brody didn't get paid for making the movie and there was like lawsuits that happened. She's. She's. Our joke doesn't be good movies anymore. thi th enough. But I love Israeli stuff, because I'm cool like that.
Starting point is 00:14:48 We meet David Hemming, he sees the murder happen, he's hanging out with his friend in front of the blue bar. Yeah, that looks like the famous Nighthawks painting. That's so weird. Why does that bar look like that? I don't know. But I do want to talk about this this this this this this this this this th th th th to talk th to talk about th to talk about th to to to talk about th th want to talk about this guy because Carlo Carlo Carlo is sitting on the street drinking wearing a suit Yeah, and
Starting point is 00:15:10 What is David Hemming's name? Marcus Marcus Marcus, Marcus Daly, Marcus is like? He's like, oh you gotta stop doing that you're about to die. Yeah, he's very well dressed for a street drunk who is about to die like? He's not that bad. He's not doing that bad. You know what I mean? He's? He's? He's? He's? He's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's th. th. he's he's. he. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to to th. thi. to thi. to to thi. to thi. the thi. thi. the the they. thi. thi. thi. th die. Like he's not that bad. He's not doing that bad. You know what I mean? He's at work. He's gonna go back in and work and it clearly doesn't matter if he's drunk. So like, why don't you get off his back? That's what I'm saying. I just feel it's exaggerated to say he's about to die. Yeah. There is a lot longer dialogue scene cut at thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi thi thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi's thi's thi. thi. thi's thi's thi's tho tho tho tho tho thi. thi. thi. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. tho thi thi. It seems like they had just run into one another like they had just met. I love the idea of street drinking out of a glass. Yeah it's classy. So while he's out there with Carlo or Carlos headed back into the bar he looks he the window and I guess this is the building in which he lives the the the the the the the th. the the the th. the the the the th. the the th. the th. the the th. the the. I. I th. I th. I th. It is th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's thus. thus. I's th. I's th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the they. It's is is is just just just just just just. they. It's toee. I. It's. I. I. It's. to. they. I. they. they. he lives also. And he sees the mannequin get pushed through the glass.
Starting point is 00:16:06 Yes. And he runs up and touches everything. Everything. This movie, nothing is a crime scene until later it is, after everyone has trumped through it and touched everything. It's so dumb. You are skipping over one of my favorite lines of dialogue when Carlo and Marcus are talking about piano playing and then like Carlo says for me the piano is a beautiful woman and I just love to tickle her fanny. Yeah I just ignored that. Yeah he also says a lot of gross stuff later because they hear screaming and he says
Starting point is 00:16:41 some shitty stuff about rape that's the real big bummer. Yeah. And then after the, well, Marcus is at the murder scene. Gianna Bresi shows up, aka Dario Nicolotti, aka at the time Dario Agunto's wife. Yep. And she's the love interest in this movie that's cut out of the American version of it. She looks like a doll. She's a very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very very. the very very. the very very very very very very very. the very. the very very very very. Uh. Uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, the the the the the the the the the, uh, uh, the, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, the, the, the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the, the, the, the, the, the, the the the the the th. she's the love interest in this movie that's cut out of the American version of it. She looks like a doll. She's a very doll-like. Yeah. That's all.
Starting point is 00:17:11 She's very animated. Yeah, I like her. So nobody's like, except for the people who actually speak English are speaking English in this movie. They're doing like approximations of English. Yeah. So like, Missy was like, oh, they're speaking Italian. I'm just like, nope, they're actually speaking gibberish. Yeah. And you can tell them just like, ma'am, mar, mar, mar-m-mah-mah. Watermellan cantaloupe. And she's like doing it extra hard, and it's great. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:34 She's emoting. this crime scene and is just allowed to photograph it. That's fine. Also, the cop is not doing anything. No. No. No. He's very pompous. And the, uh, Marcus asks him about moving a painting. And the cop's like, oh no, we're very careful to move and to not move anything. Like, no, you're fucking not.
Starting point is 00:17:59 Everyone's touching everything. They all practically come in playing basketball. Yeah, right. They Harlem Globetrotter all over this apartment. Uh, that we cut to the funeral? Yeah. Well, okay, sure. And then for some reason, like, David Heming is just all in on investigating this crime now. And it's not like he even knew this woman. It's like it was his neighbor. It was just a woman who was renting the place. Like, can you imagine seeing like any street crime?
Starting point is 00:18:25 Like, there was recently a bunch of kids that were like bashing cars on my street. I can't be like, I can't imagine me like, I gotta figure this out. No. You're like, oh, I've got to move my car. Wup, I have a dead on my hood now. Yeah. Can we get your car? Yeah. nothing occur, like why did the funeral scene? I don't even remember the funeral scene. Like, do I need to have remembered it? No, okay.
Starting point is 00:18:47 There's nothing that happens there. It's a nice Jewish funeral, like, you know, the rabbis saying rabbi stuff? I don't remember this at all. Huh. Yeah. I mean, it was me didn't happen. Yeah. We did are the best cemeteries I've ever been to. I'm sure. Rome, you do cemeteries right.
Starting point is 00:19:09 They ride around her car, which is all kinds of fucked up. That's funny, I like that scene. That's, I guess, a good comedy scene. Yeah. Yeah. Where his seat just drops down, to get out of the car, both of them have to go through the sunroof and they both go through at the same time and hilarity ensues. Why is the one guy, why is that doctor guy recreating Helga's speech? Like he's acting it out in the movie.
Starting point is 00:19:37 Because they have to look out at the audience and see if they can figure out what row she was looking at. You can't figure that out, sirs. And he's like a seventh, no, no, no, eighth row. Just by redoing her dialogue. Yeah, it's really fucking stupid. And they're also like the lights were on. We couldn't see anything. But we know she was looking at the seventh or, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay. That's so weird. I really like Guadanino. I liked like that. I like that. I like that. I like that guy that guy that guy that guy that guy that guy. I like that guy. I like that guy. I like that. I like that. I like that. I like that. I like that. I like that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that. I like like like like like like like like like like like like that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that. I like. I like. I like. I like. I like. I like. I like. I like. I like. I like. I like. I like. I like. I like. like. like. I like. like. like. that. like. like. that. like. like. I like. like. clearly did not speak English. I had a wry smile with everything. Yeah, that's what I, that's why I liked him. He knew what he was doing. Yeah. How did you feel about the arm wrestling scene? Indian wrestling? What? What is it? I've never heard it called that? No, me neither? What does that mean? What does that mean? What does that? What does that thi? that like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th, th, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that's that's that's that's that's that that? that? that? that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that? I that, I that, I that, I that, I that, that, that's why I that's why I that's why I like, that's why I like, that's why I that's why I like, that's why I like, that's that's why I like, that's that's why I like, that's that's why I like, you know, where you like say a thing in a circle and it goes around and then you hear whatever the like they're like they call it Chinese whispers is it just a way to make a thing racist? Really? I've never heard that. Boy oh boy. Indian wrestling. Do they mean Indian like of India or Indian of Native American? I have no idea. Neither. Do you can apple sauce, which is fine to not say Indian style, but I think criss-cross apple sauce is a little cumbersome. It's a lot harder to say. Oh, they should just call it cumberbatch. Sitting cumberbatch. I saw someone who referred to themselves as a
Starting point is 00:20:56 cumber bitch recently and I don't think so. I don't think he would like that either in my opinion of him. So weird. So the arm wrestling scene, I was going to suggest that we arm wrestle and then I realized we'd actually done that on this podcast before so no. Wait, did we arm wrestle? Yeah, during the over the top and I couldn't figure out how to do with my fingers. You just gotta lace them down. You gotta pick them up really high first and stretch him out really far and then one at a time. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:21:31 Who won? You did. Oh, okay. I got me in. I got them guns. Right. Well, see, women are weaker. such a blowhard for this scene and then she's like when will I see you again and it's go fuck yourself. Oh wait and then like in the edited or the unedited version like two scenes later she's just like oh I love you. Yeah there's like what the why? Why do you love him? Dariah come on? It's also a
Starting point is 00:21:55 weird take for a pianist to be like men are so strong and women are so weak weak because you'd think he'd be a little more sensitive as like an artist or a person with a like a sort of stereotypically not very masculine, he's not a construction worker, you know what I mean? You think culturally he would just be more. Maybe that's why he's lashing out to it because he gets called out all the time for his twinkly fingers. You said twinkly? You said twinkly? He's tickling the fanny. Eesh. So weird. I wish you hadn't said that. So he goes to look for Carlo, because Carlo is going to help him solve this crime now that he's in a fight with Gianna. And he finds Carlo at his... Well, he goes to his mother.
Starting point is 00:22:34 Yeah. Because Italian men all live with their mothers. Yes. Yeah. His mom, the woman who played his mom, actually was a very famous Italian actress. Oh really? Yeah, I looked her up on the Wikipedia. What is her name? Her name is Clara Callumai.
Starting point is 00:22:56 She's known for doing one of the first topless scenes in a talkie. Oh, what a distinction. So like, there's a scene where they show all the pictures of her up on the wall and they're from actual movies that she did. Yeah, they looked real. Yeah. So she tells him that Carlo is at Ritchie's house. Yes. Ritchie is wearing so much eyeliner, I thought he was the killer. Ah, he's not. Spoilers.
Starting point is 00:23:21 No, it's just Carlos. Now they they they they they they they they they they they th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi thi thi. thi thi they they they they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're their. their. their. their. their. they their. their. they they's they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they're they their. their. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo.'s just Carlos's boyfriend. Yeah. Now they are boyfriends. Yes. Unlike Dremors. Ritchie reminded, have you ever seen Dog Day Afternoon? The Al Pacino movie? I don't think so. He's a bank robber and he's... That does not sound that my alley.
Starting point is 00:23:36 Okay. It's a really good movie. And the the the the that movie is Chris Sarandon. What? Yeah. Tell me more. And looks, Chris Sarandon and Ritchie look very similar to me in these, in their roles. Interesting. Yeah, I was like, is one a nod to the other or vice versa?
Starting point is 00:23:56 Or is this just the way it panned out? Hmm. Ritchie, interestingly is played by a female actor. That was not a dude. You're kidding. No. Just put a little mustache on him. Yeah. Huh. Yeah. I thought that was interesting. That's interesting. Because she's wearing a bra. Yeah. And I thought you don't need that. Yeah. Well, you're just doing. You're doing your thing. I mean, no, no, it's fine. I guess I find, um, wearing a bra when you don't need to be. Why would you. th. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. th. that. that. that th. that th. th. that that th. that th. Just like let it be, you know? Especially that's so god damn hot. I know, you're telling me. I am a guy who has never left his house without an undershirt on.
Starting point is 00:24:32 Yeah, I understand. But I really like that reachy scene because like for as shitty as Marcus was like two scenes earlier with with Dario or Gianna. He's like totally like yeah I don't give shit. It's fine man. Who cares? Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:50 That's very Italian. And so we find that the press is just trying to get him kill. And so we find that the press is just trying to get him killed. Yeah, what? The pnest.. I love the murder's the pusser. Tianianianianianianianian. Tian. Tian. Tian. T. T. The p. The p. The p. The p. The p. The p. The p. The p. The p. Yeah. The p. The p. Yeah. Yeah. The p. Yeah. The p. Yeah..................... the the the the the the the the the th........................................................... he could identify him. Yeah. Yeah, he knows the killer. Yeah, this guy. I love the murder's rationale in this movie. For the longest time I couldn't figure out why the murderer goes to kill that woman in the house in the middle of nowhere. Oh, I don't know. Oh, she wrote the book that he goes to research in the library. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I, I, I, I, I that I, I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that. Um, but I'm just like, like,
Starting point is 00:25:30 she wrote that book years ago. Why today are you going to murder her? I don't know. I don't know. And that's why, for a brief moment, I thought Gianna was the name. He gave her the name of the author. Yeah. But no. So David, after the news out to him,
Starting point is 00:25:53 there's an attempt on his life from the murderer. Who like climbs on his roof to break into the house? Yeah, and then there's, I had the subtitles on. Yeah. And there's like a deep voice saying I'll kill you someday. I would never have heard it without the subtitles. Oh yeah yeah yeah. Yeah. It's not even there. It's barely there. I would not have known. Yeah. Yeah. For sure. Dumb. Make it clear to me. You know. This time you're safe. I'll kill you sooner or later. But I guess that should have have been Gianna. Yeah, yeah. He goes to the record store and finds that album of children's music immediately. Yeah, that's for the Keep It.
Starting point is 00:26:27 So this is where I have the note, he goes to the library, he finds out about the book, the house of the screaming child. Yeah, it's written so terribly. And this is where I know, I have the note we find out who the the true the the true the the the true the the the the the true the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the true, the the note, we find out who the true villain of this movie is. It's Marcus, because he rips a page out of a fucking library book. Yeah, you don't do that. Make a fucking copy. I'm sure they had photocopy machines. Just write it down.
Starting point is 00:26:54 I like the scene where they're on the phone and they're both in loud places. Well, why was he making that call call the call the call the call the call the call the call the call the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. the is the the theat is. the is. the is. the is the is thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. th. th. th. thin. t t t t t t t t t t t t to to to to together. to to together. to together. t t t it somewhere else. I mean, that's her works, that's where she works, but like, he's getting so mad at the sky for making coffee. You're in a cafe. But it, ah, I'm excited. The guy was, it seemed like the guy was just blowing steam, I didn't know. Maybe he was, I would, if I were him. Yeah, that wastalking to a friend of the podcast Mike. Hi Mike. Hi, Mike. And he said that a friend of his was like just recently realized it like, oh Deep Bread's a comedy movie. I mean it had not occurred to me. Yeah. Well this because all the comedy got cut out. I guess. I'd like how you said that. Luigi. Luigi. So then we go to the lady with the talking birds.
Starting point is 00:27:47 Amanda, Amanda Regetti. Is that a name? I feel like I've heard that name before. I mean to Google it and I forgot. I'm going to look it up real quick. All right. Amanda Regetti is an American actress born in 1983. So I guess that's why I've heard of it.
Starting point is 00:28:01 She was on the OC. Oh. And then Friday Friday Friday Friday Friday Friday Friday Friday Friday Friday Friday Friday that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that She was on the O.C. Oh. And in Friday the 13th. The remake? The 2009 American Slasher film. I guess that's why I know her. You an O.C. fan? What do you think? Yes. Yes. Yes. She was also in the 2007 film, Return to House on Haunted Hill. Ah. She's not in a movie that we've done though. Uh-uh. Okay.
Starting point is 00:28:32 Can I do a little PSA real quick? Please. Everybody, check the temperature of your hot water water, because it should be not hot enough to boil you alive. Um, it depends on how hard you gotta get that hot, they gotta get that hot water heater to Max. Next temp. I mind my Max.
Starting point is 00:28:48 Do you? No, it's one below Max, but it's still too high. I know it is. It's a problem. I just like it real fucking hot, you know, you got to burn the sin off of you. I think it's a Catholic thing. So as a former Protestant it might just my tepid bathwater is like okay I'm not doing it right. No clearly or not. So we go to this lady's house it's in the middle of fucking nowhere. She got birds for no
Starting point is 00:29:16 goddamn reason. Yeah talking birds that never talk. She goes outside to send some lady on her way and comes back in and there's a bunch of dolls on nooses hung up around her house? Why though? Yeah. Yeah. All right. I don't know because it doesn't come back later or before. And I like that the killer hits her, knocks her out, and then turns off all the lights, and then uses a flashlight to look around. It's broad daylight. Did you like the, uh, the like stark eyeball in the dark scene? Yes, I did.
Starting point is 00:29:53 I did. Why is it just one eye? That's how eyes work. Do you like that her wig stayed on through the burning? I do. I'm surprised that. Knowing our agenda, it was probably glued onto her scalp. I strongly dislike her death. The ways that people are killed in this movie are like gruesome, but like practically gruesome, you know what I mean? Like these are things in your house. Yeah, that was actually a thing that he wanted to do in this movie, like because he had done like dramatic deaths and in this it wanted to be like, oh you should their th.. their th.. th. th. th. th. You, th. Like, th. Like, th. Like, th. Like, th. Like, th. Like, th. Like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, thi. Like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th. Like, th. th. Like, th. th. Like, th. th. th. th. th. th. Like, th. th. th. th. Like, th. Like, they. Like, like, like done like dramatic deaths and in this they wanted to be like oh you should be afraid of shit that you encounter
Starting point is 00:30:26 every day broken glass and hot water and coffee table edges and meek cleavers it's just so gross when she's like laying on the floor all blistered up like yeah and then later she looks way different when they show her her again because I think it's a mannequin I also really like the first time she like a to. I the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I like. I th. I'm th. I bet they just let her get real sweaty. I made her do a bunch of jumping jacks. So he, so um... Oh, we forgot about the bird killing itself.
Starting point is 00:30:59 How does a bird kill itself? She like grabs a crocheting needle or whatever. Oh, th, th, the, th, the, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, the, th, and, and, and, the, and, th, th, th, the, and, th, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th. And, thi. And, th. And, thi. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, like, like, like, like,. Oh a knitting needle, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. And like it's just holding it out in front of her and a bird flies chest first onto it? I don't think a bird would do that. And then there's a fucking real live dead bird on the ground that's still twitching. I was like you fucking a bird for this.
Starting point is 00:31:15 A minor bird that. I think they have better sense of self-preservation. It's true. And they also don't normally fly chest first at a thing. They're not coming at me bro style. This movie also kills a lizard later, so. There's also a scene that was cut out of a dog fight. I could do without a dog thing. Apparently in the UK version of the edit of this, the only things th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th only only only only only only only only only only only only only only only only only only only thing thi thi thi thi thi thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they, they, they, they're, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they're they, they, they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're the. They're the. They're not thin, the. They're not coming, thin, theeeateeeeeat-a. They're not tho-a' tho-a'-a'-s. They're not they're not coming they're not coming they're not coming they're not coming, the only things that are edited out are the lizard and the dog fight. They left in everything else. Without that lizard, that scene makes no sense. I just laughed that. Oh, did you recognize that little girl?
Starting point is 00:31:52 No, should I have? No, but I'll tell you. You have seen her before. Tell me. She is the usher in demons that's dressed like a leprechaun when they go into the movie theater with like the long red hair. That's the same woman. When she was a little kid in this movie and she's a more adult. Interesting. Yeah. Uh, fun but useless information. Things that Alan knows. Yeah, she also drools when she gets knocked out. Yeah. So the body is found, oh she tries to write on the steam on the wall, which, okay, fine. Which I have so many things to say about that.
Starting point is 00:32:31 It would fill an episode, but. But so the body is found by Marcus, who doesn't report it, I guess? Who doesn't report it, I guess? He's just, he? He just leaves? He's, they......................... Well, th. th. th. th. th. to. th. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to?. to. to?. to. to? Okay. to. Okay? Okay. to. to. to. to. Okay?. Okay. Okay?. Okay. Starting point is 00:33:05 Gialo thing of the investigator being suspected for the crimes because in the version I watched he's never a suspect. Yeah, he's not in the other one either. Like they're only like alluding to this could happen because the cops are so fucking a nef that they haven't even gotten there. Oh boy. So he warns your favorite guy, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. the th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thr. th thr. thr-s. thr-I. thi. th th thi. th thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the doctor guy, who then goes to investigates. And he solves it. It solves it by turning on the water.
Starting point is 00:33:28 Whoa, he doesn't solve it because all she wrote was it was. That's what she wrote, it was. You have mere moments to live and you're trying to write down the killer's name. It seems like it was could have been implied. I love that the outline of her body goes up onto the mirror to show where her finger locks. Yeah, just... That's so silly. And the house cleaning lady, that's just like, does not stop talking.
Starting point is 00:33:57 Does not stop talking and is cleaning the house. It is a fucking crime scene. And blood does not wipe up that easily. Trust me. Sure. Buh. Yeah, it's fucking touching everything. She really did not have to be cleaning that bathroom. I'm like, oh, whatever, it's fine.
Starting point is 00:34:16 The cops, like, put a truck outlain and we're like, ah, we're done. Yeah, that's it. Not a crime scene anymore. I love when the guy figures. He's like, oh, I know who did it. Yes, and then leaves his like hairs all frizzed out. How did he know who did it? I'm assuming we're supposed to think that there was more written that the camera's not showing you. Well, she wouldn't know that person though. Why would she? Unless she's like, oh, that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's not. that's that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that's that's that's that's. that's that's that's that's that's the the the the the the the the the the the the they. the they. they. the they. the the they. the the the the the the. the. theat. theathea. the. the. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that's not. that's not. that's that famous actress. Starting point is 00:34:47 What? What? What? Spoilers for this movie. Hopefully you've watched this movie before this. Um. So he finds the house, I guess. Or what? I don't know. This is where I'm like, oh my god, what? So yeah, from that book, the house of the scoes. th. th. th.. the-ss? thoes. thoes. thoes. thoes. tho? tho? Oh, tho? Oh, tho? Oh, tho? Oh right and he interviews all these gardeners I like that. I like that. That had to stay in. Nope never
Starting point is 00:35:15 never seen it happen. Oh, he goes to the house. Yeah, he finds the house. Well, he finds the guy who's like renting the house out or trying to sell the house, who has a daughter who he sends with him to go to the house. The guy, he drives the daughter, and thrives, and he's, he's,? The child is disturbed? She kills lizards and has scary pictures. It doesn't matter though.
Starting point is 00:35:50 She's just a red herring? She can also take a fucking face slap like nobody's business. I think it's to be implied that he's slapping that kid all the time. He slaps her in the face and she just sticks her tongue and goes, What the fuck is this movie? And Marcus, th Marcus, th Marcus, th Marcus, th Marcus, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thi, thi, th. th. th. th. th. thi, th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th fuck is this movie? And Marcus is like, what's that all about? And she's like, nothing. And he's like, okay, well, then let's just go.
Starting point is 00:36:08 Uh, welcome to the 70s, everybody. If you see someone slap their kid across the face, call someone. Do you see something, say something? Yeah. Yeah. This is right. I'm probably going to get letters on that. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thatting. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. thi. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. to the. thea. thea. thea. to. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. your kids is cool. We're in the face. That's how they learn. I just listened to a podcast about this crazy church cult thing that like one of their tenets was like you have to beat the shit out of your children. Oh is it to train up a child? Is that what they're talking about that book? No. It's like this th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. they're th. they're they're they're th. they're they're th. they're th. they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're th. th. th. th. th. the. the. try. try. try. try. try. try. try. th. the. the. I the. they're they're they're they're they're talking about, that book? No. It's like this, I think it's part of the fundamental Christian religion. Okay.
Starting point is 00:36:46 It's this book called, Train Up a Child, which has you beating them with rubber hoses and things like that. Also, they do a thing called blanket training, where they put a baby on a blanket on the floor, and they put a toy out of reach, and if, and if, and if, and if, and if, and if the baby, and if their, and if their, and if their, and if their, and if their, and if their, and if their, and if their, and if their, and their, and their, and their, and their, and their, and their, their, their, their, their, their, and their, and their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train, train up a train up, train, train up., train up., train up, train up, train up, train up, their, train up, their, their, get the toy, they hit him. Just to show them that like, you can't, that's not for you. That's a fucking baby. I hate everything. Yeah, everything's terrible. This is where I have the note David Hemming is kind of like a hot Peter Laurie. I disagree with hot.
Starting point is 00:37:15 He's just kind of like a Peterloor. Yeah. He enters the music in this movie. It's all goblin, isn't it? It's all incredibly loud. An incredibly goblin. It's over the top. But when he's going to the house, it's just like a, wow, bomb, bobobab-ba- It doesn't need to be. It's like for 20 minutes.
Starting point is 00:37:37 Really, bom. Yeah. I love it. I have the note, riffs are killing it. Riffs are killing it. And he just noses around the house. The house is gorgeous, by the way. Yeah, it is. And gigantic. When he started scraping the plaster, I couldn't watch that. Why? That really gave me like chills.
Starting point is 00:38:01 Oh, thatrofoam chills. Oh, God, why would you say that out loud? Sorry. And it goes on for a really long time. I had to keep looking away. I like couldn't take it. I love that he found the like, the murder drawing. But there's more to it. What was, oh, it was the, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that, th. that, that, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. th. th. mom? Yeah the way he leaves the so in this cut of it like there's no like rationale for a while like he's like chipping away at it
Starting point is 00:38:30 and then it quick cuts to him walking back in the house with a flashlight and you're just like what the fuck just happened yeah yeah so he heard a noise and went to get a flashlight so he could look around and that's when the bad guy gets in yeah and then throws glass at his the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. the th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the the. the the the the the. the the the the the. the. the. the. th bad guy gets in. Yeah. And then throws glass on his face. Yeah. And then sets the house on fire, I guess? No, that's later when he comes back and picks at pickaxe's his way into the house. Oh yeah, that's fine. Just do that. I mean, does that in a house not have not have neighbors not have neighbors. Who knows? The cops are just pointing sandwiches and things. Ah.
Starting point is 00:39:05 Yeah, so the part of the mural falls down after he leaves, or gets exposed, I should say. And it's another face. Yeah, and it's the mom, we learn later. And then we go to the scene with the guy that I've dubbed the big guy, your doctor friend. What a nino. And the dummy. Yeah, what the fuck was that? Is there an explanation for that?
Starting point is 00:39:29 The fuck no. Okay, well, I didn't know. It's just, this scene is pure genius. I love it. I love it. I love it. Well, how did I get into a set? Who did she just carry it in there? It's got to wait, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she, she just, she just, she just, she just, to, to, to just, to just, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, to, to, to, to, the the to, the the the the the th.. th. th. th. Is, is a th. Is th. Is th. Is to to th. to to th. to to th. th. to to th. th. to th. th. thi. th. Is, the doctor is like figuring out who solved,
Starting point is 00:39:46 he's trying to solve the crime, looking at books and stuff, his doctors do. He's got all that learning. And he's drinking tea, and he hears a noise and just lets tea fall out of his mouth under his shirt. It's like, the fuck Dary? Do you think that's what happened when someone gets surprised? Close your lips. And as he's standing there looking around, we're like seeing somebody looking at him from behind this like glass panels in his office. A door opens up and this running dummy comes running out at him.
Starting point is 00:40:15 It's the fucking weirdest thing ever. Was it laughing? In my mind it was laughing. Yeah, it's laughing. Yeah, it's laughing. And it comes, and it's like weird in buck toothed. It might be winking. I th. I I I I I I I I I th. I th. I th. I thing. I thing. I thing. I thing. I thing. I thing. I thing. I was thing. I was like thing. I was like thing. thing. thing. thing and it's like weird and buck tooth. And winking? It might be winking. I don't think it was winging, but I like that you just. And it had wings.
Starting point is 00:40:32 I said winking. Not like, Brian from winging. And he just punches the dummy in the face and like it breaks. Yeah, it breaks. And he's like, oh, ha ha. Not like, Jesus, the, the, th. th. th. th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. th. th. th. And it, and it, and it, and it's, and it's like, and it's like, and it's like, and it's like, and it's like, and it's like, and it's, and it's, and it's, and it's, and it's, and it, and it, and it, and it, and it, and it, and it, and it, and it, and it, and it, and it's, and it's, and it's, and it's, and it's like, and it's like, and it's like, and it's like, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. And it's like, and it's like, and it's like, th. th. th. th. thi. And it's like, and it's like, and it's like, and it's like, and it's like, it breaks, of course. Yeah, it breaks. And he's like, oh well. Yeah, he's like, not like, Jesus Christ, who put this in my fucking house? Yeah. And then his teeth get all smushed. It's gross. It's stabbed through the goddamn neck.
Starting point is 00:40:54 Yeah. The blade said something. Yeah, it was something in German. Yeah. the note running dummy with so many exclamation points after him. It's really good. It's so, oh man, and yeah it's our leather-gloved friend who has showed back up to murder him.
Starting point is 00:41:15 So now from here it's like basically the end of a D&D, more like a Cthulu adventure where you can't figure out how to wrap it up because he has to go back to the guy and the who owns the house is the rental like he goes back to where the little girl lives finds that she has a drawing just like the drawing that he saw she tells him that it was she copied it from the archives at the Leonardo da Vinci school at the lenartaught to the Leonardo da Vinci school. At the Leonardo da Vinci school, which later the dad has to give directions to the cops to how to get there. It seems to be a school in your community. He's like, you can't miss it. There's a sign over the door. You can't miss it because it's an element or a middle school in your neighborhood. Okay. I know where all the schools are. I know where all the schools are. Okay. I know where I th. I know where I know. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I the th. I the th. I the th. I th. I th. I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. It seems. It seems. th. t. t. t. too. too. te. te. too. te. te. te. te. te. te. the. the. the. the. the. the schools are in my neighborhood. Yes, right. And you're also not a child molester. That's a reason to know where all the schools are. Oh God. Well, you can't be that close to him. I just wanted to be very clear about that because the way
Starting point is 00:42:10 you said it meant maybe you couldn't be within 500 feet of them. So he before before the school stuff he goes back to the house, picks axes his way into the house because he realizes there there there there there there there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's the the their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their. I I I's. I's their their their. I's their their their. I's. I their their their their. I th. I's. I th. I the. I the. I the. I th. I th's not there anymore. Oh my god, why? There is at Trevy Fountain in Rome. There is like a house behind the fountain, there's all these windows except one that was bricked up because somebody committed suicide out of it. So the family like bricked it up and painted a window over top of it. Eee. I don't like that. Yeah. No. It's weird. Just love the window B. It's not the window B. It's not the window's the window B. B. B. B. the window B. It's not the window B. It's not the window B. It's the window B. It's not the window B. It's not. It's not. It's not. the window. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not the window. It's not the window. B. It's the window. B. B. B. B. B. B. B. B. B. It's the window. B. B. B. It's the window. B. It's the window. It's the window. It's the window. It's the window. It's the window. It's the window. It's the window. It's the window. It's the window. It's the window. It's the window. It's the window. It's the window. It's the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the is where he sees the corpse of the dad is still in the room. Sealed up. I mean... The Christmas tree still they did it like day of.
Starting point is 00:42:56 They sealed this fucking house up. Okay, I like actually forgot about that. And I was wondering what my note that says teeth look good meant, and then I remember that his teeth still looked good. Oh, and this is where the soundtrack is fucking, you would say it was loud earlier, they just like turned it up at this point. It's at 11. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:15 And he's like falling off the go back up. Just go down. How did you feel about the effect of the house being on fire? I didn't even notice it. So he wakes up with like his head in Dari or Giana's lap. That's why I thought she was the killer. Ah. I literally wrote, yes, I knew it, exclamation point. And then, oh, maybe not. And they're looking at the house the house the house the house the house the house the house the house the house the house the house the house the house the house the house the house the house the house And they're looking at the house, which is not burning,
Starting point is 00:43:46 but there are flames superimposed over the windows that look like match heads coming out in each window. That's funny. Yeah, it was really neat. So yeah, they go to the Davenchie school. I think to go through student art is punishment, I feel. I feel. It's true. They find the piece of art they're looking for. They split up.
Starting point is 00:44:07 Yeah, Daria goes to call the cops. Her name is Dariah and Nicolodi. She's married to Dario Argento. Aren't you glad you're not married to a woman named Alice? Because I feel like that'd be weird. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Just saying. OK, carry on. Did you know the plural of Gialo? Gialo?
Starting point is 00:44:28 Gialo? Gialo is Jolly. That makes sense. Yeah. Yeah. Watch all these jolly movies. Gially. David sees a shadow. She gets stabbed. She's been stabbed. Someone's drawn a hanged man on a chalkboard.
Starting point is 00:44:45 I liked that, but she's like, do you know who it is? And he's like, yeah, I know who it is? Like, why wouldn't she just say it is so and so instead of saying, do you know who it is? Because you are about to die? Spoiler, she isn't. But still, you know what I mean? Everyone's stupid in this movie. I thi thou th I th I th I tho I tho I tho I tho I tho I tho I tho I tho I tho I tho I tho I tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho that that I that that tho tho tho. I tho. I tho. I tho. tho. tho. tho. thooo. thooo. tho. thooooo. thoo. thooo. tho. tho. tho getting mad. Why so it's Carlo at this point yeah why did Carlo stab her? Why does he have a gun why is he gonna like shoot his friend like is it to protect his mom? Because I guess they're hot on the trail of his mother who has killed these other people and he doesn't, you know, Italian men and their mothers. I'm just being, just being real, real talk people. Really ethnically insensitive.
Starting point is 00:45:32 But like that, that has never made sense to me. Okay, wait, let's think this. Because he obviously hates his mother. Well, it's a complicated relationship. It's true. But th, but th, but th, but th, they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they th. But, they they th. th. th. they th. they they they they they're they're they're that. they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're, they're, they's they's they're, they's they's they's they're, they're they're they're they're they're they're they're th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. that. that. that. thooo. thoooo. thooo. th. thea. that. the. that. they're they're they're they're It's true. He lives with her. When you watch your mom stab your dad to death in front of you. But he's been with her all that time. So he must feel some need to protect her. Obviously, she's very ill because what we've seen is that the father was just trying to
Starting point is 00:45:56 get her to go to the hospital and she wouldn't do it. He's probably been taking care of her. Yeah. He's drunk as a skunk. I have no idea why she started killing people. I guess because Helga knew that she had. Can you? It just falls apart so quickly. Yeah. So this is where the cops show up. They bust in the window. Our friend, the sandwich eating cop, like, he runs away, shoots at Carlo. He runs away and they're like, hmm, oh well, we shot after him, that's all we can do. Nobody runs after him. No,
Starting point is 00:46:30 they're just like shrugs. He runs out into the street, like gets hit by a truck a little bit and runs down the side of it, and then it hooks his leg and drags him. And then the truck notices that drag him, slam him on, slam him, like, like, like, like, like, and slam on the brakes, and then, and then, the brakes, the brake, and then, the brake, the brake, and then, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. the, th. We's th. Wea, we's th. Wea, we'll th. Wea, we's th. Wea, we's too, we's toe, we's toe, we's toe, we's th. We's th. We's th. We's th. We's th. We shot. Wea. Wea. Wea. Wea And then the truck notices that that drag him, slam him on the brakes, and then a car comes up and stops on top of his fucking head. It was good. It was so good. It was like, the watermellon with a sledgehammer, a la Gallagher. Tell some joke about Obama and then smashing a watermelon. Oh, I didn't know that. I just just, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was like, it was like, it was like, it was like, it was like, it was like, it was like, Carlo. C. Colo. Starting point is 00:47:06 Carlo can't catch a fucking break any. I mean, he did stab Gianna. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. For no parent reason. To protect his mom, I guess. Go look out for your mom. God, I hope Lucy someday stab someone to protect me.
Starting point is 00:47:22 How else will she prove her love? Hopefully this isn't, that incident is not predated by you going on a murder spree. We'll see, we'll see. I am, we'll see. So after Marcus is like, well that's all solved and then immediately goes, ah, fuck. That dude was standing right next to me during the first murder. That's right, that's right. That's right. So he goes back to Helga because he has to figure to to to to to to to to figure to figure to figure to figure that that to figure that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that th th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi thi thi thi. that's that's that that that that's that that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that dude was standing right next to me during the first murder. That's right. So he goes back to Helga because he has to figure out what's going on with that painting. This is where it totally lost me. Because you would notice if the painting was missing versus a thing was missing from the painting. That's a different thing.
Starting point is 00:48:02 It's not a face was not in the painting. It's he said a painting. He's a painting. He's a painting. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. He's thi. He's thi. He's, thi. He. He. He. It's he said a painting was gone. Right, right, right, right. He's stupid. He's very stupid. It is neat though, because if you, like if you watch the movie again, you do see her face in the mirror. I just assumed that they... Like just redconned it that it was there, yeah? He breaks in the helges. He's looking at the scary paintings. He's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's th. He's th. He's th. He's thi, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's the th. He's th. He's th. He's, he's th. He's th. He's, he's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's like, paintings, and then mom is just standing behind him. Again. Yeah. There's scenes that are cut out where he keeps going on, he like he can't figure out why the killer knows every move that he's going to make. And it's because he keeps going to her and being, hey, where's this thing?
Starting point is 00:48:36 Yeah, that's true. So like she knows what's going on or her her son the son thoes thoes thoes tho's thi, her thi's thi's to to to to to to thi, to to thi, thi, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. that's that's that's that's that's that's that's thi thi thi thi thi he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. theeea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. that's tale of murdering the dad. Yeah, which we see in flashback. Yeah, which is really beautiful, like just beautifully show. It's very stark. Yeah. Mother of the year stabs the dad right in front of the kid. And the dad was like just trying to get her to go to the hospital. She seems crazy.
Starting point is 00:49:00 It seems like maybe maybe she should have. He's wearing like a little Lord Fontoroi outfit too. He's got like a bow tie made out of tassels. Yeah, a little suit. So she attacks Marcus, who falls down in front of an elevator. Her necklace gets stuck in the elevator. He starts the elevator. And her necklace is so strong.
Starting point is 00:49:26 Her necklace game is strong. Cuts her fucking hat off. Garazza. Which is a very tiny thing to do. Yeah. Yeah. And then there's a, what, 25 minute shot of that necklace going all down every floor in the hotel. Yes. And then white stuff comes out of her mouth. Yeah, she got foamy mouth. Dario. And then the credits the credits the credits the credits the credits the credits. the credits. the credits. the credits. the credits. the credits. the credits. the credits. the credits. the credits. the credits. the credits. the credits. the credits. the credits. the credits. the credits. the credits. the credits is the credits is th. the credits. the credits. ario! And then the credits roll over, Mark is staring at a pool of blood. Yeah. And that's that. Oh, and we find out that Gianna lived because she got a 100% successful operation.
Starting point is 00:49:52 You can't say 100%. She can always die. You know what? There's always complications. Come on, Doc. So that is Deep Red. Holy shit. What a roller coaster ride that was. In my mind, I really like this movie. And then as we were talking about it,
Starting point is 00:50:08 I just got more and more irritated. I don't know if it's because it's hot in here or what. I think it's one of the coffee and donuts are probably getting to you. Yeah, also I really have to pee. I think it's, uh, these these these these these these these these these these movies, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, the the movies, the movies, the movies, the movies, the movies, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, the th the th. th, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th.'s like really enjoyable, but then once you talk about it, it's like, what? But that's the whole thing of this genre is that it's all about the ride. They're all like the stylized kills and like their ridiculous, like, there's no way that person could have murdered everyone. Right, right. Because this is like an 80s, something something like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th.this is not a young lady who's going on murder. They're just in her 80s? 70s, probably?
Starting point is 00:50:45 No. Her son is like 30, so she's probably in her 60s, if that. You think? Okay, all right. Still, I think a 60-year-old woman is just running around meat cleaver and never won the death? real Marcus Day right now, underestimating her. Ha. You want to rate this thing? Yeah, you want to go first? I do.
Starting point is 00:51:07 I fucking love this movie. I bet you do. The version that I have, that's two hours long, has all the cutscenes are in Italian, because they did, they weren't ever dubbed. Did they subtit like the movies just goes from like English to Italian to English to Italian, it goes back and forth and back and forth. It's a little hard to watch because of that, but it's such a great movie. I think like, this is probably his ultimate, I agree, like the best of these movies that
Starting point is 00:51:33 he's done. I'm going to give this movie a nine. I fucking the in my fists. But I enjoyed watching it. I could have done with more gore. I'm gonna give it a seven and a half. Okay, yeah. I liked it. Thanks, Danny Glover.

Her boyfriend John says he thinks he's having a stroke or seizure every time he hears the name werewolf ambulance because those words don't belong together in any known language. Hey, John? Sorry you're an English expert. Sorry we aren't. It's not like I have a degree in it or anything. He goes on to give us some suggestions. Please. And then it says, good luck with Savini Watch 2018.
