Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello, and welcome to another episode of WhereWulf Ambulance. I'm here with my friend Katie. Hey, Alan. Hey, Katie. How are you? Good, how are you? I'm doing really well, thank you. Good. Tonight we're here to discuss the film Kill List. I'm here to discuss the film Kill List. Kill List. Directed by Ben Wheatleyto discuss the film Kill List. Kill List. Directed by Ben Wheatley. Ben Wheatley. British movie from 2011. We are going to do spoilers.
Starting point is 00:00:33 And this is a movie that it's crucial that if you don't want it spoiled, watch it before you listen to this. Yeah, it's on Netflix, just go watch it. Because we're gonna ruin it. Yeah. I'm gonna ruin it in like 30 seconds. It barely makes a lick goddamn sense, but... Yeah. I don't want to, I don't want to ruin that, that moment for you. So turn it off, go watch the movie. Come back. Don't do anything else. No. Don't go to the bathroom. Don't get any snacks. I don't go you to go to go the the the the th. Don't go. Don't go. Don't go. Don't go. Don't go. Don't go. Don't go. Don't go. Don't go. Don't go. Don't go. Don't go. Don't go. Don't go. Don't go. Don't go. Don't to go. Don't to go. Don't to the to the to to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah. Yeah. to to to to th. Yeah. Yeah. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I to to to to to to th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I thin. I to th. I to the. I to to to to to to to to the. to the. the. the. Yeah. Yeah. I th. I th. Yeah. I didn't tell you to go to the bathroom. You come back here and you listen to this when you're done. Yeah. Oh, did you have to go to work? Oh, too bad.
Starting point is 00:01:09 All right, so. What? What? That was weird. We got very demanding. This movie is insanity. The first time I watched it, I loved it, and didn't understand what the fuck I'd just seen. Yeah. So I immediately watched it again.
Starting point is 00:01:28 Oh wow. I literally just was like, what the shit? Play. Yeah. And watched it again. Still didn't understand it. See, I was, I watched it yesterday for the first time. they I was like, I don't really want to.
Starting point is 00:01:47 I think we can do a wrap up of this pretty quick and then go back and touch on it. Yeah, the plot's pretty sparse, really. Right. But the holes are where you're like, what? So it's a film about these two guys that are ex-axxxxx men at this point in their careers. And something has happened in their past in Kiev. Something bad. The one guy Jay, who's sort of the star of the movie, I guess, he has a shitty home life. Yeah, of his own design.
Starting point is 00:02:17 Yeah, he's a fuck up. He's a royal, like, whatever happened in Kiev fucked him up royally. And it's ruining his marriage, it's interfering with every aspect of his life. This was like eight months ago as the film is taking off. They get hired to do a job, and it's to take out these three, what do you call, assassination victims? Assassionies? Yeah, so they get a list of three people that they have to take out. Assassionies. You've got the priest the priest the priest the priest the priest the priest the priest the priest the priest the priest the priest the priest the priest the priest the priest the priest the priest the priest the priest the priest the priest the priest the priest the priest the priest the priest priest the priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest, the priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest. the priest priest priest priest. the priest priest. the priest priest priest. the priest priest priest priest priest priest. the priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest. The priest priest. The priest priest the priest priest. The priest priest the priest. The priest priest. The priest. The priest. The priest. The priest. So the priest. So the priest. So the priest. So the priest. So the priest. So the priest. So the priest. So the priest. So the priest. So the priest. So the priest, so the priest, so the priest, so the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the priest, so the priest, so three people that they have to take out. Assassinees? Assassinees. You've got the priest, the librarian, and the MP.
Starting point is 00:02:49 Yeah. And they- Which at first I thought was military police, but is actually a member of parliament. Which I figured out pretty quickly. Did you watch this movie? Yes, because that Yorkshire accent is tough. Yeah, the the the they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. thiiii. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. tooge. thi. thi. tooge. tooom. tooom. thi. thi. thi. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the they. they. they. they. they. thi. the. thea. thea. theya. theya. theya. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the. Yeah, it's good though. I feel like the accents really put you into the mindset of the movie. Yeah, actually I have to have only two notes for this movie and one of them I just wrote down a subtitle which is speaking emotionally in Swedish, which I loved. A deaf person is like, oh, okay.
Starting point is 00:03:19 So they're hired by some sort of organization to do these kills. By a man who looks like Joe Biden. Oh my god, I'm so glad you thought that and you weren't like, oh it's not Joe Biden. It's totally fucking Joe Biden. It really is. Okay, cool. He's got that Joe Biden's smile. Yeah, you're real creepy friend. Yeah, sorry, vice president. I'm not former Delaware representative. Seems like an okay guy.
Starting point is 00:03:48 PA native. Scranton. Scranton. Scranton. So they're hired by this guy. And later you see more of the organization that he works for and it's just other old, rich white dudes. Yeah, it's kind of the X-Files syndicate. Yeah, yeah, totally. The people that they're killing the priests, the librarian and the MP
Starting point is 00:04:06 seem to be wrapped up in some sort of murder ring. Like, there's just like you get like glimpses of what's going on, but they don't actually show you anything, which is awesome. See, I didn't even think they were wrapped up in a murdering. I I I I I I I didn't th. I I didn't even I th. I th. I th. I th. I thin. I thin. I thin. I thin. I thin. I thin. I didn't the. I didn't even the. I didn't even the. I didn't even the. I didn't even even even even even the. I the. I the. I the. I the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the the an the an thean theananananananananan thean theananan thean thean theanan thean theanan th of I think they're related, but we can get into the what I thinks later. So, So they go, they go and they do these hits, as we call it in the game and the assassination game, we call them hits. That's what you call them? What should I call them? I don't know. The only thing I've ever assassinated is a pizza pizza pizza pizza pizza pizza pizza pizza pizza pizza pizza pizza pizza pizza pizza pizza pizza pizza. I'm the pizza. I'm the pizza. I'm the pizza. I'm the pizza. I the pizza. I 't know, the only thing I've ever assassinated is a pizza. With each hit that happens, it ends up being Jay is the one that's doing the murder. And the assassinated person, assassinie.
Starting point is 00:04:55 You're just not going to give me the satisfaction, are you? I couldn't remember what you called them. They thank him. Yeah. Which just like, so up until that point you've got this movie that's like, oh this is a weird crime movie, this is a crime movie, what's this weird crime movie? Oh and it's also this like domestic gross movie I don't like it to make real uncomfortable. Yeah, she's screaming at each other all the time. And the wife is from, she was in the dissent, she's in, yeah she's in the descent, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she was in, she was in, she's in descent, she was in, she was in, she was in, she was in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in descent, she's in descent, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's a the descent, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's a, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in, she's in Ripper Street. She's in Oh, she is in Ripper Street. She's the madam. Yeah, she's in
Starting point is 00:05:25 Doomsday. Straight up talking about BBC television shows now, aren't we? Yeah, I was watching Piki Plydeers before you give over. Yeah, she's awesome. I really like I like it. Speaking emotionally in Swedish. But they're doing these hits, he's getting thanks, it crazed and going off plan as it goes along. Yeah, he seems to just be a, his psyche is completely deteriorating. Yeah. Until they do this hit on the MP, and it's on these like beautiful, palatial grounds, it's really beautiful. Very British, having an estate like that. When they go into the hit on the MP, shit just goes fucking bonkers. Well, it becomes a wicker mann, th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi thi thi thi thi thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, their thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, thi, thi, thi, thi's, thi's, thi's, thi's, thi's thi. And he's thi. thi. thi. thi's thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. thi. thi's thi. the MP, shit just goes fucking bonkers. Well, it becomes a Wickerman for a few minutes.
Starting point is 00:06:07 Yeah, awesome. And I don't mean that in a good way. No. I hated Wickerman. Did you like it? Okay, so. Nicholas Cage. No, no, no, not the bees.
Starting point is 00:06:18 Oh, have you never seen the Wickerman. Oh, have you never seen the Wicker mann, thau. thi. the the the thi. th. th. thi. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi, thi, thi, thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, thi. to to to to to thee. to thi. thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, thi. that people have seen. Oh, come on, Katie. People have seen the Christopher Lee Wickerman. No, I haven't. Oh, it's fucking fantastic. But does it look? I've never seen the Nicholas Cage one. I seriously thought you were talking about the Christopher Lee movie. You were so proud for a second. No, I'm talking occult film and there's yeah, there's weird things going
Starting point is 00:06:47 down and people squealing like pigs and it's just completely fucking bonkers. Yeah, people naked except for a weird wooden headdress mask? Yeah, yeah, these like made out of a, yeah, wood or, um, looks like straw. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I really loved it. I love the design of it. I thought they look great. So that's the base of the film.
Starting point is 00:07:12 And then we can start tearing apart like what's actually happening in the movie. So there's one other character we should introduce, which is Fiona, who is the like sometimes girlfriend of the other hitman gal. g gal gal gal gal gal gal gal gal. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. thia. Yeah. thia. thia. thia thia thia thia thi. Yeah. Yeah. thi. thi. thi. thi. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, thi, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, thi. Yeah, thi. Yeah, thi. Yeah, that's, that's, that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's thi. Yeah, thi. Yeah, thi. Yeah other hitman gal. Yeah. And she's, I don't know what she is. She's a human resources professional. Which... HR. Yeah. Always, you know, HR, I worked in HR for many years and it makes you a cold person. It does. It makes you cold. So that might be something we can talk about. It's sort of unfolding this onion if that's a phrase that people use. Yeah, because you get an onion it's all folded.. It th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th unfolding this onion, if that's a phrase that people use.
Starting point is 00:07:46 Yeah, because you get an onion, it's all folded and you have to make sure you unfold it before you cut it or you could... What our onion again? We're America! So... We're America! We start off with with the, uh, with Jay and his wife and they're fighting every money. And then Gal and Fiona come over for this dinner that's that's that's that's that's that's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. thi. It's thi. th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's thi. It's thi. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's thi. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's thi. It's a thin. It's a thin. It's a th. It's a thin. It's a th. It's a thin. It's a th. It's thi. It's all thi. It's thi. It's they're fighting and they're fighting every money and money seems to be tearing them apart and then Gal and Fiona come over for this dinner party that's the most uncomfortable thing on earth. If someone does that at a dinner party you get up and leave you don't
Starting point is 00:08:14 just sit there and like wait maybe that's is that British politeness or something like I would get the fuck out of there. Well I think it was just setting up that gal that gal. that ga ga ga ga ga ga ga ga ga ga. that that that that that that the that that the that the that that that the that the that that that the that that the that that that that that that that that that's that's that's that's that's th. the that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that that that that that that that that that that that that that that the the the th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the thu-co-cunic. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi up that gal, like, he is the fixer for what Jay does wrong. He sticks around to make sure that shit's okay with Jay. He had, like, he has very much a big brother role with her. Yeah. And then during this dinner party, Fiona goes into their bathroom, takes a mirror off the wall and draws a symbol on it, which we have seen before only in the opening credits. Right, right, right, right, right. And then. And then, right, and then, right, and then, right, and then, right, and then, right, and then, right, and then, right, and then, right, and then, and then, right, right, right, and then, th, th, th, th, th, th. And then, th. And then, th, th, th, like, thi, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. thi. th. right, right. And then she puts the mirror back. Yeah, it almost looks like she's going to do an anarchy sign, like with like the cross in the middle of it. Yeah. Yeah. And there's all these things that are happening in the movie that will be revealed
Starting point is 00:08:57 in the end of the movie. Sort of revealed. Well yeah, I guess they're not revealed, they just come back. Okay, sure, sure, sure. Sure, sure. Like, there's the scene where Jay has gone out and he was supposed to get like toilet paper and some food for this dinner party and he comes back with $200 worth of wine and canned tuna and two plastic swords. It's really weird. Just showing that he's like kind of oblivious about like how to interact with other other other other other other other other other And so him and his son go outside and they're fighting with their swords and then the wife comes outside and they're all fighting with the swords. Oh shit! And the kids riding on the wife's back and then smacking him with the sword.
Starting point is 00:09:35 Oh shit. And that comes back up later on the end of the movie. So yeah so gal and Fiona have come over for this dinner party and it's just fucking bonkers. Like, there's the cut the tension with a knife. What I really like about this movie, one of the things I really like is they did, there's a script and they would do the scene as it is in the script and then they would reshoot it improvised. And I think that's what gives the dialogue between Jay and his wife the wife the wife the wife the wife the wife the wife the wife the wife the wife the wife the wife the wife the wife the the the they would reshoot it improvised. And I think that's what gives the dialogue between Jay and his wife so much, like, they're digging up some shit. They're just, they're just vitriol and mean.
Starting point is 00:10:14 And apparently Ben Wheatley like was basing this on like, stuff from his child. Yeah, so he's a very sad man. He has a lot of sad feelings in his heart. And just sort of like, these are the things that scare him. He wanted to make a movie, a horror movie of things that scare him and like domestic like disharmony really upsets him. So like, and it's fucking, it's the most, it's, it's, it makes my skin crawl when I watch this movie. If you were gonna make a horror movie about things that scared you, what would it be? I'm really scared, I'm really claustrophobic. I have recurring nightmares about running into a house
Starting point is 00:10:50 that the rooms just keep getting smaller and smaller until I'm trapped in them. So that would be, like the descent, that's so scary. That's so scary. Yeah, when the monster showed. that. tha. tha. tha. th. th. th. th. th. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. I that. the. the. I'm the, I was, I was, I was, I was, I the, I th deal with. So yeah that would be, how about you? Horses. God damn it, Katie, would you leave horses alone? I think that, I didn't tell you to leave small spaces alone, did I? I didn't get all different. Small spaces are majestic animals. Small spaces can't tear you limb from them.
Starting point is 00:11:20 You haven't seen these nightmares. Well you haven't seen these nightmares that I have. Well, you haven't seen my horse nightmares. The dinner party ends with, the dinner portion of the dinner ends with Jerry doing an abracadabra where he rips the tablecloth out from underneath their dinner just throwing the food everywhere. It didn't, it didn't, the trick didn't actually work. It may be really sad. It was just like, oh. But they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they th th th. th. th. th. th. th. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. the the the the the the the the the the the the the thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. teenenen. toeeeeean. tean. tean. tean. tean. tean. teeeeean. teeean. tean.. But they don't leave. They just should have gone home. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:47 But it seems like Fiona is just like peep in the scene the entire time. She's like, hmm, what's going on here? This is Gal the other stuff. This is crazy town. Yeah. Have you ever read any Raven carver? Yeah, a lot actually. Like, gal and J. and Jay totally remind me of characters from Raymond Carver like when they're fighting in the front yard I'm just like oh dad fights so gross. And it just
Starting point is 00:12:07 just very like hopeless. Yeah yeah yeah that's suburban like just fuck. Yeah and something bad that that hangs over you and never leaves you. Yeah You're right about it being very Raymond Carver like. Oh, nice. You're welcome. You're wrong about horses. And some day that will probably come back that that that's that that that that that that that that that that that th that th that th th that th th th th th th th th th tho tho tho tho tho tho tho that that that that that that tho tho that that that that thi thi. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just that's that's th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah th. Yeah th. Yeah th. Yeah th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that that the that that's that that's th. that that's th. th. the. th. the. the. thi's the the the the the Carver like. Oh, thanks. You're welcome. You're wrong about horses. And someday that will probably come back to haunt you. Jesus. Well, I hope they don't kill you, but they might. So this dinner party, it goes into the night and they're getting drunk and there's there's the really uncomfortable dance that's going on with like slow dancing? Thinking about, you know, when you hang out with like you're a part of a couple and you hang out with another couple, you
Starting point is 00:12:47 don't just like slow dance. Oh no? Oh, maybe your maybe your generation does. Yeah, we just put on some Jodas scene. It's yeah, I didn't know, it's like, who the fuck does this? It was I thought maybe British people. Angelo confused. So yeah, and it, at some point Jay and Gal go into the garage, into the man cave to hang out and smoke cigarettes. And Gal tells them that there's a job. And it's kind of revealed that Shell is the wife, I could just remember her name now, is the one who sort of sets up the deals? She's like got some back-handed deal and stuff so like Gal went to her first. I didn't know
Starting point is 00:13:33 because then he got mad at gal for going to her first. Right, but she seems to be the the middle man as the as the movie goes on, I guess. I don't I didn't, I didn't, I didn't, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, th. th. th. th. th. to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the middle person. I don't I didn't maybe I should watch it again. You know there's just there's a lot of tension between gal and Jay even though they're like hugging it out every five minutes. They do a lot of hugging. All their fights have been over money so finally Jay is like all right fine I'll do this job because it's gonna bring it a good amount of money and I'm trying think about skipping the fiel and the th I I I I I I I I I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I'm th I'm th I'm th I'm th I'm th I'm th I'm thin thin thin thin thin thin. I'm thin. I'm thin thin thin' thin' thin' thin' they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they they're they they they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're thin thin thin thin thin thin thin. try try try try try try try try thing thin. thin thin. thin thin they're they're that she's HR and she's all about firing people. Yeah, but in a really like a clinical way like, uh, demanning or something like that. Yeah, de-forcing. Yeah. But like, so having watched this movie a few times, I'm like, oh, you're here reviewing these people. These are the people that are being reviewed by the HR department to see if they they need to be gotten to be the their their their. their. their. their. their. their. their. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I's, they. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th.. I. th. the th. th. the th. the the th. th. the the th. th. th. th. th. the th. the th. the th. the th. th. the the th. the the the th. the the the the the the. the the. the the. the. the. th. th. th people that are being reviewed by the HR department to see if they need to be gotten rid of or if they're going to be bumped up. This is part of my theories that are going on. Okay. Like it turns out in the end of this
Starting point is 00:14:30 Fiona is part of this cult, whatever it is. Yeah. This like, and the cult is never revealed what the cult is all about. Apparently in the early edits of the movie, all of the shit, the shit, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, the, thi, thi, the, like, like, thi, like, like, like, the, the, the, the, the the thi, thi, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, the thi, the the the the the thr-i. thr-I. the, thi. the, it, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it, it's, to. Oh, yeah. It's not. Everything was on the screen and he was just like, nope. If you want facts, this movie is not for you. But I really like that aspect because like it immediately, I'm just like, well, I'm gonna start filling into the gaps and I'm gonna punt, like I'm just filling in all the holes in the movie. And it's like Hitchcock, you're gonna make it, is. So yeah, I'm thinking Fiona works for this this organization and they're it turns out they're the organization that have hired Jay and Gal to do these
Starting point is 00:15:10 hits. But it's not revealed into the very last scene. Right. Yeah. So they go and there's this awesome scene. They're going to do this hit on the priest is their first hit and they're totally liked. And they're totall. their their their their their their their their their their their their th. th. th. thininin. thin. thin. thi. thi. their their thi. their their their their their thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. they're they're they're they're they're they're thi. thi. their hit hit hit hit hit hit hit hit hit hit hit hit hit hit hit hit hit hit hit hit hit hit hit hit hit hit hit hit hit hit hit hit hit hit hit hit. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. th. thin. thin. thi. the. the. the. the. their. they're their. their. they're they're their. they're they're they're they're their. they're. they're they're they're their. their. their. their. te're totally like British gangster film. They're putting on suits with their open-collared shirts, and it's like, it's totally hokey and great. And I really like that. Because I love movies like Get Carter and Last Good Friday, or Long Good Friday and these, you know, really good gangster movies from the 70s and stuff. There's this really uncomfortable scene in a hotel, Christian group are there having dinner at the same time as them. And one of the guys gets out of guitar and they start. You really shouldn't do that in a restaurant, to be fair.
Starting point is 00:15:48 No. Never. As soon as the guitar gets picked up, Jay's just like, I'm gonna kill. I'm gonna kill all of them. And you're just like, oh, I think you might. I think you might. He might. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. thi. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the thi. the thi. their. thi. thi. the. the. the. toe. thea. toeea. toeea. toeea. toeea. toea. toea. toe. toe. toe..aled out of control. Right. Because the first hit against the priest is pretty clean. It's just a shot to the head with a silencer and they're out. They don't know why they're doing the hit,
Starting point is 00:16:09 but they both kind of are like, well, he's a pedophile. Yeah. Right, so, OK. They're just just to justify it the trigger, the priest just says, thank you. Yeah. And it's like, huh? Yeah, it's weird. Why would you thank him? Yeah. So then the next one is the librarian, which when they find him, he's coming out of a warehouse kind of thing that he has locked
Starting point is 00:16:37 up. They break into the warehouse. And he's got like some videos that are very upsetting. And think and tha and. And issues of jugs on the shelf. Well, yes. Like a porn on the shelf. Yes. So then they follow him to his house, I guess, right?
Starting point is 00:16:51 Yeah. And instead of just shooting him, they like, or not even they, Jay just like brutalizes him. It's fucked. It's so gross. There were points I couldn't watch. Well, Jay is is is is like, J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J J is like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like is like is like is like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th. th. th. th. th. thi is like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the the their their their th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. J. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. th. th couldn't, there were points I couldn't watch. Well, Jay is like, has beat the shit out of this dude and gal leaves to go upstairs to get money out of a safe. And when he does, he finds this,
Starting point is 00:17:15 accordion file that's filled with all these documents that has the symbol that Fiona's scratched on the back of the mirror on it. So while he's upstairs looking at that stuff, Jay is downstairs with the librarian and the librarian before, while Gowls down there is crying and just begging for his life, when Gal leaves he turns to Jay and goes, he doesn't know who you are, does he? Yeah. And you're just like, huh? And Jay doesn't seem to know either. Just like what are you talking about? And he says something like it's an honor to have thi the the th. th. th. th. th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, thi. Yeah, thi, thi, the the the thi, thi, they. Yeah, they. Yeah, they. Yeah, they. Yeah, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, thi. Yeah, thi. Yeah, thi. I, the. I's, theean. I's, they. Yeah, the lib. Yeah, the. the. the Yeah. And he says something like, it's an honor to have met you and all the stuff. And then- I'm glad that it's you that's doing this.
Starting point is 00:17:49 Yeah. And so Jay goes and picks up a hammer and starts beating on the dude's knee. Oh, it's so gross. It's so gross. Wikipedia, reading on Wikipedia, apparently Ben Wheatley watched the orphanage, that Spanish harm movie, and like there's a really violent scene in that movie, which I don't remember, but apparently like there's something really violent that happens in it that like kind of like set you off for the whole movie, and that inspired him to do this scene in Kill List.
Starting point is 00:18:22 I need to re-watch that. I only saw it once. I own it but I haven't watched it since I wouldn't. I think I must have borrowed it from you. I think I must have it. I hope I gave it back. And but like he's beating on his knee with a hammer and like the camera's gonna pull. No, no. No. Then he moves over to his wrists. He's his wrists. I kind of like peeking the to. I. I. I. I. the the th. th. th. th. th. I. th. th. th. I. th. I. I. I. I. I'm, th. I'm, th. I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I've, I've, I've, I've th. I've th. I've th. I've th. I've th. I've th. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've. I've th. I've th. I've. I've th. I've th. I've th. I've th. I've th. I've th. I've th. I've th. I've th. I've th. I've th. I've tho. I've th. I've th. I've th. I've the. I kind of was like peeking through my fingers at that point. He puts his hand on the edge of the table and it's beating down on his hand and breaking it off. It sounds so gross. And then just starts hit him in the fucking head and it's like, oh there's like a flap that comes up. I can't, I can't, I can't. It's so brutal., what the, thank you, why would you think, oh this is really weird? And then this is just like, oh, fuck, this movie's not what I expected this movie to be. Yeah, to that point I'd kind of been like,
Starting point is 00:19:09 this isn't really a horror movie, this is a crime thriller or something. And that's super d'ornythau- th's thus, I I I I thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thuuuuuuuuuu-a, thu-a, thu-a, thu-a, thu, thu, thu, that, that, that, thi, that, that, that, that, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho-a, tho, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, thi thi thi thi-a thi-a thi-a, thi-a, thi, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that. Oh, right, of the person who makes the films that were so upsetting. And Jay goes to that dude and just fucking pulverizes him. He's like, he turns the gal and says, give me 20 minutes and then come in and get me. And he kills a dog, too. Kills a dog, which is a bummer, not an excellent use of a dog. And Gal goes in there and sees that Jay has just like lost the plot.
Starting point is 00:19:45 He's just done so. He's beaten this dude to a pulp and then just empties a clip into him. And it's like, oh, yeah, yeah. This is our protagonist. Happy holidays. And it's, yeah, it's weird because you're just like, oh, fuck, I don't like anybody in this movie. No. Everyone sucks. I like the little boy. He was cute and seemed like, I just felt for him. Yeah, and I think the thing that keeps you watching is like,
Starting point is 00:20:10 what are Fiona and Shell? What's their deal? I kept watching because we were doing a podcast about it. Do you think it would have turned it off at something? It's hard to say. Sorry I do that. Yeah, because we're cutting back at some points to Jay talking to Shell on the phone and she's like, oh Fiona's here, we've been hanging out. First I didn't really like her, now we're bros and then she like brings the kid a toy. And then when he goes back, I guess she wasn't expecting him to come back and Fiona's
Starting point is 00:20:43 there, drinking like, just in the middle of the day. And then they hang his cat. Someone hangs his cat. Big bummer. Someone hangs his cat. They accused gypsies of doing it, which really bum me out to. Well that's very British right there. Yeah, they're real.
Starting point is 00:20:56 Yeah, we skipped the part. brought him, air quotes again, had brought him rabbit guts that he fries something. Yeah. You ever eaten rabbits? Pretty good. Yeah. Yeah. I eat a lot of rabbit growing up? Yeah. I said I ate a lot of rabbit growing up. Yeah. Oh, okay. Yeah. I don't know that I don't know that. I don't know that I thin. It was gamey. It's good. It was like, it was supposed to be. the pile of guts? I was. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. th. I. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I eat. I th. I th. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I eat. I th. I th. th. th. th. th. th. I eat. th.. And I thought I was like, I think the scene is supposed to be gross, like why would you eat that? But I was like, why wouldn't you eat that? I don't know. It was just like a bloody lump at the backyard that was pretty. You know're not. Kill it, kill it, kill it, bro. Kill it and eat it. Um, Pro killing, pro-eating.
Starting point is 00:21:52 So, yeah, well, oh man, this movie is fucking bonkers. Yeah, uh, yeah, the, he kills the dude and Gal decides like he's had he's not going to be involved in this anymore, he's getting out of it. And Shell kind of like connives him back into doing it. She breaks down in tears and she's like, you've got to help him, he needs you to do this. But then they go to Joe Biden and they're like, can we get out of this job? We'll get out of's like, I'll fucking kill you. Oh, we forgot the first time that they meet with Joe Biden and he hands on the stack of, you know,
Starting point is 00:22:27 play money, British money. Same thing. And, and then he's like, oh, well, so anyway, we'll just seal this and he pulls in a knife. Oh, yeah, why did he do that? Because it's weird. A to c a to c a ca to ca to c cult a c cult a cult a cult a cult a cult, the their their their their their th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. and like his wispy dry-ass Joe Biden doesn't really come out no blood comes out of it really. Joe Biden doesn't bleed. Yeah and then when when Jay goes home he takes his shirt off and he has like the signs of a very serious
Starting point is 00:22:58 infection. Yeah it's like his blood poisoning. Yeah I'm very afraid of infections. Oh really? Yeah yeah yeah. You get an infection, you can die. Yeah, no. I got a cat bite once that swelled most of my forearm up and I didn't have health shirts. Oh no. Was it a 10 new shirt came rip it out? Yeah, he sucked the venom out for you. Then said something racist and left.
Starting point is 00:23:18 Then he killed it, needed though. cool. Yeah, no, but Jay's reaction is, I'll just get a cream. Yeah! No. No. So she'll talks him into going to a doctor that isn't his regular doctor. Yeah. It turns out it's just this guy who just gives him cryptic advice that doesn't mean fuck all to anybody. Yeah. Except basically like stay the course, do. Do what you're supposed to do. The past is behind you and he's like what happened to Dr. Jeffries or whatever. It's yeah. Again it's like giving you like what the fuck is going on? Yeah everything just seems to be more surreal and weird and are you is this happening or is it in his head or is he causing some of this like you don't really know it totally feels like a fever dream like it's just out of control which I really liked I like dreamy movies so they go to
Starting point is 00:24:15 kill the MP right and this is where things really come to a head I guess right and they get into the grounds like the night or the day before they're going to start doing surveillance and like there's th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi the thi thi thi thi the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th. th. th. the the the the the the the the thi thi thi thir thir thir thir thir thir thir thir thir thir thir thir thir thir theeeeeeee th get into the grounds, like the night, or the day before they're going to start doing surveillance. And like, there's this like, respite of them like being chummy. Yeah. And Gale are like, they're getting on really well, and like they, they get a couple rabbits and they're cooking them up and... Probably delicious. thii. Kill it, eat it. I'm adopting a very serious pro-hunting stance in this episode. Is it? Why is that weird? Oh, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:24:50 You know what there's a lot of in the world? Rabbits. Nothing is more humane than killing something yourself and eating it. They breathe like themselves. So there's this respite of them getting along really well and making dinner and having tea and sort of busting each other's balls, but it's like very friendly. And then they're sort of going down to sleep for the night, I think, and they hear something. And then they see this line of naked people with straw masks on. Some of them are dressing all white, some of them are naked.
Starting point is 00:25:23 Earlier in the film, we also saw Fiona straw masks on. Some of them are dressing all white. Some of them are naked. Earlier in the film, we also saw Fiona outside of their hotel room in like, you know, bumble fuck England. So like Jay standing at his hotel window and Fiona standing in the field across the street just waving to him. I don't remember that at all. Yeah. She's just staring at him and waving and he just kind of like waves back to her and doesn't mention it to gal that it's happened. I don't remember that at all. It's really weird. Okay. I want to take a quick diversion to talk about gal and Fiona's love life. Because there's like they're evidently have very rough sex which is brought up. Like you do with a cult member. Yeah and what? So when Jay, when they're leaving the day the day the day the day the day the day the day the day the day the day the day they're leaving the day they're leaving they're leaving the day they're they're they're they're they're they're the day. they're they're their. they're their. to to to to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to........................................................... member. Yeah. What? So when Jay, when they're leaving the day of the, when they're going to start the assassination mission, assassination missions,
Starting point is 00:26:08 and gal's really bummed because Fiona has left and he said he woke up with a dear Johnny letter taped to his cock and then makes reference later to the fact that he had to shave all of his pubs off. Because the duct tape ripped all of his pubs out. Oh man! Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the th. they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're their their. they're they're they're they're their their their. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I. Yeah. I. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I. Yeah. Yeah. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. Yeah. Yeah. And, th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It's, th. Yeah, th. It's, th. Yeah, th. It's, th. Yeah, the th. Yeah, the th. Yeah, the th. Yeah, th. Yeah, the the th. Yeah of his pubs off. Because the duct tape ripped all of his pubs out. Oh man. Yeah, it's real weird. But my partner did have, because the like shaving your pubs off, I had to actually piece together. Yeah, I didn't tell you said that I didn't get it.
Starting point is 00:26:35 And my partner was just like, because Cal's like, let's put it this way. It was like, the, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. It, th. It, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, that, thi, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. It, th. It, th. It, th. It, th. It, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, thi. It's, thi. thi. that's, that's, it's, it's, it's, it's, that's, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. sex when she left I had to shave my pubs and my partner just goes what did she put gum in them yeah like I didn't I don't I don't I didn't get it at all I still don't get it I mean I don't that wasn't from the duct tape though was it like I thought that had happened prior to the duct tape incident no huh are you spent a lot of try to to their to their the their their their their their their their their their their their their their to to their their to their their to to their to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to their their to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their tape. tape. tape. tape. tape. tape. their tape. tape. tape. their tape. tape. toe. toe. toe. to toe. tap time trying to figure out what would cause someone to have to shave their pubs after. Crabs? Oh, maybe. Well, that's not something to brag about. It's just, oh, a rough section gave me crabs. It's awesome. I have a parasite living in my pubs.
Starting point is 00:27:16 It's engorging himself on my blood. So yeah, so they see this procession of these, what we are now assuming are the Wickerman of cult members, and they're carrying torches, and I thought it looked awesome, like, I love a procession that people carrying torches in absolute darkness. So they, they kind of start following them and keeping an eye on them with binoculars and their scopes and their rifles and all that jazz. And this woman climbs onto a stump, puts a noose around her own neck, and then kicks the stump out from underneath of herself and hangs herself. Why? Why did she do that? No, no. Well everyone like
Starting point is 00:27:54 stands around and looks basically. And claps after she hangs herself. Do they? Yeah, they start doing golf claps. A odd. And so Jay gets freaked out and opens fire on them. Because he's a loose cannon. Yeah, he's lost the plot at this point. And they just start running towards him, squealing like pigs. Yeah. But they're like running into the bullets, basically. Yeah. There's a lot of things in this scene that stop making sense. Yeah. Well, this movie. So, but for me I was like, so what is this cult? Is it a death cult?
Starting point is 00:28:29 Are they like just celebrating death and like... Who knows? So they chase down this cult, because there's, you know, 50 of them, and they chase down Jay and Gal, into these tunnels and kill gal and Jay gets away. Well he has to mercy kill him. They like tear gal up and then he has to shoot him after like a sad scene. Yeah it's a sad scene. Yeah, quick sad scene shots fired out. That's the sea where my partner said oh you gotta kill him his hot dogs on the outside of his shirt. Oh gross. Because all of his intestines had fallen out. Those are your hot dogs. Those are your hot dogs, everybody. And so then Jay runs to the cabin where his wife and son are and they're kind of staked out there for a little while and then the cult members show up there and Jay goes out after them and she'll stay his back with a gun
Starting point is 00:29:20 and it's killing cult members as they're breaking into the house, like very straw dogs styley. And then they capture Jay they and put the the the their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te they're breaking into the house like very straw dog styli and then they capture Jay and put him into a knife fight with somebody in a robe and he has he has one of those masks on at that point. They put a mask on him and there's somebody that comes out with like the sheet over them and a mask on and a knife. And this is the, there's like a little text scene in front of this it says the h the h the h the h the h the h the h th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thus thus. thus. thus. the the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. And the. And the. And the. And the. And the. And the. And the. And the. And the. the. And the. And the. the. the. the. thean. thean. And thean. And thean. And they's they's they're they're they're they're they're a little text scene in front of this it says the hunchback. And you're like, wait, that wasn't one of the people on the list. And the hunchback, yeah, has something on their back. And they have a knife fight. And then Jay murders them.
Starting point is 00:29:58 And then he takes the sheet off. And it's his wife with their son son her back. Yeah, and his wife looks real sad. But she's laughing. Why is she laughing? And the kid is dead, dead, tot's dead. Hot diggity dead. Toats dead. Just flopping on the ground.
Starting point is 00:30:15 Yeah. Dead. And then it pans up to Jay and he's just confused. He just looks shocked or confused, but not like, gape, but he's just like. No, he looked blank to me. Yeah. I don't know that he was confused. Anyway, but I don't know. Maybe just, it looked like he wasn't processing it. Yeah, maybe. Or he didn't care. Or he didn't care. And then the movie stops. Yep. And that's the end of the movie. Oh, the movie. the movie. the movie. the movie. the movie. the movie. the movie. the movie. th. the movie. th. the movie. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It th. It th. It's, th. It's, th. It's like, th. It's, th. th. It's like, he. It's like, he. It he. It's, he he. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like like. It's like like, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. Yep. And that's the end of the movie. Oh, they applaud when this happens to. Yeah. They do the golf clap when any, if ever anybody dies, golf clap. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:30:48 So that was this movie. Yeah. Super crazy. Yeah. Now that's Sai says a million words. Does it? Like I don't know? I mean, I loved it, but I completely understand not liking it because it's fucking nonsense. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:07 It's just... I feel like I needed like three more thing, three more strands to go together. Do you know what I mean? Like, and maybe this is the effect of just watching it once, but it ended and I was like, what? Oh, and I guess maybe we mentioned this earlier, but just to sort of tie it all together. When, after he kills his wife and son, he takes off his mask and then the people standing around the circle takes start taking off their masks, and one of them is Joe Biden. Right. One of them is Fiona. Is anybody else we recognize? I think there's another one of the guys that's in the meeting that they have they have they have they have the ex ex ex ex ex ex ex ex ex ex ex. The ex ex ex. The ex. The ex. The ex. The ex. The ex. The ex. The ex. The ex. The ex. The ex. The ex. The ex. The ex. The ex. The people is is is the th. The people is thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I takes is takes is takes takes. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. takes is thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. Is thi. Is thi. Is thi. Is thi. Is thi. I th. I th. I the the the the the the the the they. I they. I thi. I takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes takes. He takes. He takes. I takes. I think there's another one of the guys that's in the meeting that they have. The ex-files guys, yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:45 So I guess they were training him? They crowned him. We forgot to mention this too. They put a big wooden crown on his head. Like he's their new hero. Right. What? Why?
Starting point is 00:32:02 No, not the what and why? Well I think they're fair questions. It's true. Like, was Fiona there to scope him out? She saw that he was a complete loose cannon, who wouldn't care possibly if he killed his wife and child, and then they decided that made him like top dog for them in their organization? Yeah, and I- Does he usurp Joe Biden? Is he the new vice president? I think maybe they sell him as someone
Starting point is 00:32:26 that they could break, that they could really tear apart easily. But what would be the purpose of having like a loose canon in your high up in your organization? What? I mean, why? As a former Human Resources professional, I would know, and I think Fiona would know, too, that you have to really carefully screen people's personalities.
Starting point is 00:32:47 There's a Spanish movie called The Nameless, have you ever seen this? Sinnombre. So it's all about this cult. It sounds like on this recording that you just took a hit of weed, FYI. I just hook it, took a hit of breeds. The nameless, Sinnomeome. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I'm. I'm. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It's. It's.............................................................. of breeds. Yeah. There, the nameless Sinnobre is a Spanish film that's all about this cult who are trying to create the ultimate evil. Seems legit. So, like, that's what I sort of like, immediately like glommed out of that and was like,
Starting point is 00:33:21 oh, maybe that's what this cult's doing. They're trying to make like the ultimate, like, they're just trying to to break to break to break to break, their, their, their, th.., their, th., their, thi, thi, thi, their, thi, their, their, their, their, their, thi, the, their, thi, thi, thi, their, their, is, their, is, is, is, is, is, is a, is a, is a, is a, is a Spanish, is a Spanish, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi.e.e.e.e.e.e.e.e.e.ea.ea, thi.ea.ea.ea.ea, thi.s, thi.s, thi.s, thi.s, their, their, their, their, th maybe that's what this cult's doing. They're trying to make like the ultimate like, they're just trying to break humanity. Or like, yeah. It's sort of a theme and martyrs as well, like, just like breaking someone down to their like most constituent parts, just like, you know, seeing what makes a person tick and then, then I also thought, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, maybe, th....... So, to, to, to, to, to, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, to. And, to. And, to. And, to. And, the. And, th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. to. to happen, like you had to kill your own blood or something like that. And then he had to be tricked into it. But that doesn't really explain a lot of the other things. But like why mark the mirror?
Starting point is 00:33:51 Why, why do anything? Why? What? Why? I mean, that's, the thing someone else could easily hate about this movie. Like the fact that there's no close ends in this movie, everything is open-ended. Like everything is open to interpretation, it's all... Why is she laughing at the end? Why? What? She was part of it? Why? Why would she sacrifice herself?
Starting point is 00:34:18 That child, who was clearly the only thing that brought her to? Because maybe that's what the cult like had, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the ca, the ca, the the ca, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, the, thi, their, thi. And, their, their, they.e. their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, the only thing that brought her any joy in life, the only thing she loved. Because maybe that's what the cult like had brought her to, like kill the thing that you love, kill the thing that brings you joy. I don't know. Yeah I don't know, that's what I really liked about it is that like I don't know, but like... I would like to see the cut where they were all explained. See I think that would that that that that that's that's th. th. th. th. the th. th. th. the that's th. th. the that's that's that's the that's that's that's the that's the that's the that's that's the that's their the the the th. that's that's that's that's that's their their their their the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. things. things things things things things thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi.the cut where it was all explained. See, I think that would be a way worse movie. Well, I don't want to watch, I mean, I don't really want to watch this movie again either, but I just want to see it, you know, like on YouTube or something. Yeah, like, I feel like, you know, these are the things that I make or I get pissed about with the Rob Zombie, I'm like. I th. I th. I th. I th. I don't want want want want want want. I don't want. I don't want. I don't want. I don't want. I don't. I don't. I don't. I don't. I don't want. I don't want. I don't want. I don't want. I don't want to to to to to th. I don't know what that means. It's the Star Wars.
Starting point is 00:35:09 Yeah, I guess with the name Skywalker, but I don't know what Anakin means. I don't know. I love it. I love it. I love it. Oh, you continue with it to love it. Yeah, having seen it like like like like like like like like like five five five like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like. really love. Oh boy. Yeah. So Katie, are you ready for this? I don't think so. This is the rating portions, Katie. Yeah, no, I know what it is. Her ratings portion's portion, not rating
Starting point is 00:35:32 portions. Here's a portion of ratings. My portion of ratings is what? Why? Are you going full hand turkey? Man, I feel like nothing can ever be as hand turkey as god monster of Indian flats. I don't want to like, I don't, I don't, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I th. th. Man, I feel like nothing can ever be as hand turkey as God Monster of Indian flats. I don't want to like, I don't, and I also can't scoop Carrie's joke like that, because it's like probably the best joke that's ever been to to to tell on this podcast. I honestly can't rate it, though, because here's my issue. I don't know that I necessarily understood it. I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I th. thr. thr. th. that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. t. th. t. th. t. t. also also also also t. too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too t I need to see it more times to understand it. I don't want to watch it again. So what the fuck am I supposed to do? So you didn't like it? Didn't I? Not understanding something isn't the same as not liking it. But you don't want to watch it again. That's not true. There's movies I've seen once that I never want to see again. Yeah, you recommend this movie to someone else? I think I would say if you feel like watching a movie where you have no idea what happened, which is an appeal for people, obviously.
Starting point is 00:36:29 This is just an episode of Beautiful Size. Yeah, I just can't put a number on it. You don't have to. It'll be off the scattergraph. Our statistics. Oh, yeah, this, but the, but the, it'll be off the scattergraph. Our statistics. Oh, yeah, this movie is good. So let's just run it me. I don't know, I honestly can't.
Starting point is 00:36:51 I have to, I have to decide whether I'm going to watch it again. Okay, yeah. Okay, you go ahead and then maybe you'll say something that will provoke I mean, I would definitely recommend people watch this movie, but I would be selective about who I recommend watch this movie. But I think here's a little insight into the way I work. Like I'm constantly afraid I'm not getting the thing, like that I'm not smart enough to understand what's going on. And I think this movie taps into that a little bit of like, hey, if I watch this again, maybe I'll get what's going. going on. You know they're not smarter than you, right? I know, but it's just like... You're not to make it about that. No, but I'm just giving you a little a little peek behind the
Starting point is 00:37:28 curtain. I know, but I'm just trying to comfort you. So I think part of me is just like, I want to, I want to fill in those gaps. I really like being able to fill in those gaps. I like those gaps are left, thi, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, a th, a th, a th, a th, a th, a th, a thi, a thi, a thi, a thi, a thi, a thi, a thi, a little thi, a little thi, a little, a little, a little, a little, a little, a little thi, a little thi, a little thi, a little thi, a little thi, a the the the the the the the the the the th, a the th, a th, a th, a th, a th, a th, a th, a little th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, a little art, I think that's really interesting. I think it's an interesting take on filmmaking, not like, too often I feel like films just hand you everything. I'm like I could do with a little less. I think maybe this film doesn't give you enough, but I like the attempt at any rate. I like what they're doing here. I would give this movie eight. Yeah. I would definitely recommend people watch it, but like I said, it'd be selective about, or I'd at least give a preamble. I just claim, very. This movie is nonsense, it's chaos, like, it's not nonsense, it's not a the chaos. Yeah, I don't think it's nonsense. It's not a the theo-court level nonsense. Yeah, I don't think it's nonsense. It's not a nonsense. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not a nonsense. It's not a nonsense. It's not a nonsense. It's not a nonsense. It's not a nonsense. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's a. It's. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not a. It's not a. It's not a. It's not a the. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's not. It's beautiful nonsense. Okay, fine, but it's also nonsense. But it's also nonsense. In a way that this movie isn't nonsense. Right.
Starting point is 00:38:27 Like if someone was like, oh, this movie was written by, you know, I used the Fibonacci sequence to get a string of letters down and be like, oh yeah, that's the string of letters. to be like, oh, yeah, that's like, that's, the, theotally beautiful. I get what you're doing here. See, yeah, I think it's that sort of ambiguity that I have a problem with. And I don't know if this is just like, ah. It's like reading an encyclopedia brown book, but the last pages are torn out so you never know if your answer is correct. And something about that frustrates the logical, I'm a very logical person. I'm a very logical that it's frustrating to me to end the movie and be like, well, what did I just see? I think it might be this, you think it might be that. And I know that's art.
Starting point is 00:39:13 Art is open to interpretation, but... But... I'm not rating this one. Don't do it. Is it okay? Yeah, it's a hundred percent okay. It's our show. It's our show, we can do whatever the fuck we want. Yeah. This movie has reduced me to, ah, that's my rating. Ah! So that's it. You just become a peanut's character. Yeah. I'm right now furrowing my brow and there's like a cloud above my head. Ah! Ah! So that's it for Kill List. I don't know, you know, maybe I did just watch it yesterday, maybe like in a couple weeks I'll feel like watching it again or
Starting point is 00:39:49 something. Right. But I don't know what I expect to get out of it out of watching it again either, so. Well I think that's another thing that I like about it. It's like whatever I'm going to get out of it is what I'm going to put into it. Whoa. So I like that. Yeah. I like that it's up to me to like, and like I said, like I understand the things that I like about this movie would make someone else totally fucking into this movie. And completely understand, I can't like argue back out of that. Right.
Starting point is 00:40:18 No, man, look at this shit they did there. It's a matter. I. I. I. I. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thii. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. that's, that's, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. that, that, that, that, that, that, that, like, that, like, like, like, like, like, you don't have to love it, like, yeah. It's a matter of taste. Yeah. Well, maybe I'll try it again later. I'll report back if I do. A later episode.
