Werewolf Ambulance: A Horror Movie Comedy Podcast - Episode 209- Love Actually (2003)

Episode Date: December 31, 2018

You know, we consider ourselves professionals here in the horror game. We take our job seriously and that means sometimes looking into the belly of the beast: the most grotesque of the grotesque, thin...gs that will keep you awake at night. With that in mind, we're kicking off Season 5 with what may be the ultimate horror film. It's 2003's "Love Actually."  We've never done another rom-com, so instead just go listen to the episode we did on the rom-dram (?) "Days of Thunder." It's Episode 76, labeled "???? (1989)." Have you seen this one? What did you think? Let us know your thoughts at facebook.com/werewolfambulance, on Twitter @werebulance or on Instagram @werewolfambulance. Okay, one of them. I think that might be it. You mean, when Harry Metzali? Yeah. Okay. Not the one about Paris or, yeah, there's a bunch of Billy Crystal.
Starting point is 00:01:16 Yeah, there's a bunch of Romic comics. Romic comics. Which is weird because hea a hea a he? Billy Crystal? Is is the Princess Bride a romantic comedy? Yeah, okay, I've seen that. Speaking of Billy Crystal movies. What about Garden State? I hate it. I have seen it. I have seen it. I've never seen it. I think it's ruined a generation. I think it ruined. It made every girl think they had to be that Natalie Portman character to be liked by like indie dudes. I might be it might be and also Zach Braff just shove it up your ass you know oh I think singles is a romcom uh uh never seen no how have you never seen
Starting point is 00:01:59 don't gas for me I haven't seen it I don't care what about the St. O'Mo's fire no that's that's That's a rom-drom. Yeah, okay, that's fair. What other throwns have you seen it? Star Wars? Um, no, I'm not a fan of the genre. You might find it hard to believe. For one, I'm shocked. So I've been doing a lot of thinking about this, though, and I think it's because I don't enjoy the portrayal of love in these things th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi, thi, thro thro thro thro-n. thromb, thro-in, thromb, thromb, thromb, thr- thromb. So I've been doing a lot of thinking about this, though, and I think it's because I don't enjoy the portrayal of love in these things. I'm confused by it. Yeah. Yeah. But I watch horror movies, and I don't mind the portrayal of death in those. Well, you've never been killed. to say. thi. thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, the thin, thin, the thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, the thin, thin, thin, I, I, I, I, I'm, I'm thin, I, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I. the portrays. the portrays. the portrays. the portrays. the portrays. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. thin. thin. thin. thin. th. th. Starting point is 00:02:46 I just thought about the movie Never Been Kissed, and I think I saw that. Is that a? It's a Drew Barrymore Romcom. Okay. Oh, Empire Records is a romcom. It is absolutely not a romcom. Who's ramen? Oh, Live Tyler and the other guy. The other guy? The other guy. The other guy.
Starting point is 00:03:05 Oh, um, uh, your favorite fucking movies of Romcom. Can't Harley Way? It's not a Romcom. That is a hundred percent of a movie. Romcum. I feel like that's a different genre. Sure. Sure. It's a it's the sl slash snack guy in this movie that goes to America is just Seth
Starting point is 00:03:27 Green from Can't Hardly Wait. I just realize that. He's fucking British Kenny Fisher. I think that's the fucking worst. He's the only one I cared about. I'm being honest with you. Thank you. I appreciate your honesty. So this movie is, what is it, eight different stories being told? Nine. Nine stories.
Starting point is 00:03:45 Nine, and they dropped a tenth. Oh my God. Yeah, it was the children's headmistress and her dying lesbian lover. Jesus Christ. Yeah. Why are there so many? Like, they would, people would disappear for a while, and then when their storyline would come back up, I'd be like, you're still fucking here? What are you still fucking doing here? Go home! Go home! Hey, Jim from the office, get the fuck out of here!
Starting point is 00:04:07 What was he doing? What what? Why were they at the children's school play at the end? The porn people? Why were they at the school play? Was it a porn movie that they were Stanton's? I hope so? And why were they? What if porn movies had Stanton? They apparently did! Was that not a porn?
Starting point is 00:04:30 I think it was just a regular ass movie. I disagree. Carry on. This movie should have been called Why am I watching this? Yeah. Every British person you've ever seen. Some of them who I absolutely love. Emma Thompson, a huge fan.
Starting point is 00:04:49 Yeah. Yeah, I love like sense instensibility and a lot of like, I like them period dramas. Are those Romcoms? No, I mean, a little bit, but they're usually just Rom Sad. Yeah. You like that Colin Firth. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:05 She, Grant. Yeah, yeah. Oh, I've seen a hu, another Hugh Grant romcom. Nine months with him and Julianne Moore. Oh, there you go. That one's not bad. Yeah, it probably is. I love Bill Nigh. Who's that? He's the rock and roll-and-roll guy. I hated his storyline. I wish he had just been blown off the face of the planet. He's Sean's stepdad in Sean of the Dead. Oh yeah he is, I recognize. A lot of these people I was like, oh I saw you on Midsummer murders. Oh, that dude's on Wallander. The girl that Hugh Grant falls in love with her dad was on walland oh really. I know you. Oh, Liam Neeson falls in love with a small boy. That's a great storyline that happens in this movie. Like, should we try to parse? And they're all like interconnected, which I'm doing with finger quotes because some of them aren't.
Starting point is 00:05:55 It was so fucking like, like, just trying to squeeze the connections and like, oh, you're my ma'am. What's going on? Yeah, right. Like, I'm Professor Snape, go fuck yourself. You love Professor Snape, though, don't you? I do love Alan Rickman. He's in your favorite movie, Die Heart. I don't know that. I can say Harry Potter. Oh, is he in Harry Potter? No. No. I just call him Professor Snape.
Starting point is 00:06:16 It's just my name for him. I mean, this movie is two hours and 15 minutes long? It was insane. It took me all night to watch it. Just got a message, why is this that long? And then I responded to you and heard nothing that exu. She's so mad at me. What was there to say? You're like, I know, it's super long. And I was like, yeah, right. Oh, Kira Knightly is also, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. to. to. to. to. th. the. th. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. there's a scene from Pirates of the Caribbean movie that they play on the Jumbotron at Pittsburgh Pirates Games
Starting point is 00:06:49 when they're losing, going into the bottom of the ninth inning and it's the race the color speech and it's really good and they play this very dramatic music and then they gave the thing that says make noise make noise and everybody cheers there's 15 people there because they were terrible and so I like her for that okay also her character is stupid as fuck why is she in this movie she's the worst she was 18 years old when they made this she's a baby she's also always wearing a crop top it's winter in England put some fucking sweaters on I love the dude that she marries a chute at a tale eagio for I I didn't I I I I I I I I I I I I didn't I I didn't I didn't I didn't I I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't recognize I didn't recognize I didn't recognize him I didn't recognize him I didn't recognize him I'm he. th. th. th. th. th. th. I didn't recognize I didn't recognize him I didn't recognize him I didn't recognize him I didn't I didn't I didn't I didn't know. 12 years of slave. He's in the Serenity movie. He's just he's in a ton of stuff. He's like bit player in a ton of things or like star of some stuff as well.
Starting point is 00:07:30 Cool. He's great and her love interest in that who's not her husband is fucking Rick from Walking Dead. Is he British? Oh yeah, he's British. Oh yeah, he's not as cute in this. No he's more like poofy lips. Did he he. he. he. he. he. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. thi. thi thi. thi. he's in a he's in a th. He's in a th. He's in a th. He's in a th. He's in a the. He's in a the. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. He's in a thi. He's in a thi. He's not as cute in this as he is in the walking desk. No, he's more like poofy-lip in this. Yeah, I don't like his poofy lips. Did he get reverse lip injections? Lip suffico lip. Lip, oh, I invented it. Lipe lipo lip. Watch for the Kardashians. When thin lips come back in style, lip-lip-a-lip is gonna be in everyone's face.
Starting point is 00:08:06 Or out of it. Yeah. And then Laura Linny, who I also love. Yeah, Congo, man. We didn't really do Congo. Why have we done Congo? I don't know. A friend of the podcast is very interested in being the guest for a Congo.
Starting point is 00:08:22 Yeah, let's do a guest as so to do whatever we want. Yeah, we'll set it up. Ugly, gorillas! I've never seen Congo. What? Yeah, I know. So good. That's why we need to do it.
Starting point is 00:08:31 Oh, that's it. Oh, the today. Do you watch Westworld? No, I don't even know what that is. The HBO show, Westworld? No, I don't know what that, West Wing or Waterworld? These are the things I know. I haven't seen neither of them, but I know of them. There's a movie where the president has to drink his own piss. It's called Westworld. I'll watch that. Is that what the Russians have have the Russians have the Russians have the Russians have thuuuuuu're getting political. Well, the U.S. president is in this movie and it's Billy Bob Thornton.
Starting point is 00:09:10 He's like George W. Bush and Bill Clinton smashed in one person. He's like the dumbness of George W. Bush and the letcherousness of Bill Clinton. The best parts of both, for sure. Um, oh God. And it, all right, here, I'm just going to put this out there, no one is voting for Hugh Grant for president or for prime minister. Because of the prostituting? Just in general, like you look at him again, that's not my prime minister, come on.
Starting point is 00:09:36 I think middle-aged women are voting for him. Really? Look at his hair. Okay, yeah. I mean, he's a handsome fella. But he's just like, even when he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, I's like, I's like, I's like, I's like, I's like, I's like, I's like, I'm, I's like, I's like, I'm th. th. I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I'm, I, I'm th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I, Yeah. I mean, he's a handsome fella. But like, he's just like, even when he's like giving his like tough guy speech later on, he's like, well, uh, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, blah, he's so squirrely. He never makes eye contact. I don't like that. Oh, he's a weird dude. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:02 Leanne. Yeah. Uh, Liam Nieson, where you come down on the Niesons? Wait, I just want to tell you that I have one note about Hugh Grant and it says, Hugh Grant is such a git, which I'm really proud of. I liked that. I felt proud. It's on point too. Liam Nisham is probably fine. And this movie he's romancing a child. And then later Claudia Schiffer. Who I thought could act?
Starting point is 00:10:25 Cannot act. Please tell me why you thought Claudia Schiffer could act. I thought she'd been in other movies. No. Clearly. I was like, do you know you're saying lines, right? Do they not give them to you in advance? I think there was multiple takes where the camera came on, she just went, uh-huh. And they were like, no, Claudia, no.
Starting point is 00:10:46 Because I think she's just like looking down the barrel of the camera the whole time. It's very close to her. Why is it? Uh, whatever. Uh, so. So, I don't even know how to get into this monster. This is the longest movie we've ever done, right? I will say like for having nine story lines going at the same time, it moves. Because it has to. But some of them are resolved, some of them are resolved in like two sessions.
Starting point is 00:11:13 Sure, yeah, the Martin Friedman one is just like, it's just a bunch of dumb, like simulated bloat objects. Why are they are at the children's play at the end. Why? I don't know. I don't know anyone there? Why is Chuate Egey of four and Kira Knightley there? Are they there? Yeah, they're there. Is she wearing a crop top? Of course she is. Probably.
Starting point is 00:11:29 It doesn't make any sense. No. No. None of it does. Liam Nisen's sister and friends with the Prime Minister and Missy would be like, God, no, it's the other way around. I was like, I can't tell them on and put it apart. She's also terrible to Liam Nieson. That's all.
Starting point is 00:11:52 Yeah, but she is getting the shittiest end of the shit stick in this movie. Yeah. Okay, Alan Rickman being presupposes that what women... Take a drink. What women want is for their boss to hit on them. Nobody wants that. That's not what love is.
Starting point is 00:12:21 That assistant is such the male fantasy post inundation with porn. Mm-hmm. Of like, oh, she's interested in me. I can tell because she's sitting in a chair and just slowly spreading her legs apart. I mean, that is the character. That's it? Literally, she, her haircut is the best thing about this movie. I would say. Yeah, it's not Emma Thompson crying, because that just breaks your goddamn heart. Yeah, that was, she was rough. That's like the one part of the movie, that in the Laura Linnie story line are the two parts of this movie that are like heartbreaking. But Emma Thompson one is only because I know that while she was crying in that movie, she was thinking about Kenneth Brano cheating on her with Helena Bottom Carter. Oh, I didn't know that.
Starting point is 00:13:05 Ew, Kenneth Brano, and Helena. He left her for Helena, Helena? Hellenna? Fellana? Fuck it. That's gross. And Wallander, what are you doing? So she was, yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:15 So she was, yeah. So she was, yeah I was like, oh, that's fucking heartbreaking. Yeah, that's really sad. I don't want to know that. No. Laura Linney is in love with like the CFO of the company or something. And he's like a nerdy guy, but then he takes off his clothes and he's fit as fuck. Like, no. I'm so sick of that, I'm so sick. that, th. th. th. th. So sick. th. th. So, th. So, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I's thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. that's in that's in that's in that that that's in thi. that that thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. Damn it didn't work. Put your glasses back on, I'm going to need you to see. I just took off my glasses and then just like tried to focus on the room. But really this movie is about men,
Starting point is 00:13:53 entering into relationships with women who are subservient to them. Sure. The Portuguese girl, two grants, assistant, Yeah. Yeah, The Professor Snoe assistant, Mia, the Professor Snape's assistant, and Laura Linney works for the CFO of this company or whatever.
Starting point is 00:14:09 Like, they're four of the nine storylines. But Alan Rickman is forcing her into a relationship, as her boss is forcing her in a relationship with the CFO. It's true. It's true. That conversation they had at the top of the movie was just I didn't understand it. It's so weird. It's so weird. Why is that who? What? That's it. I have never had a boss I wanted to be in a that nobody wants that when a boss hits on you you think I got to get a new job. Yeah unless you're like a middle-aged dude is like yeah they do. Yeah that is. We just say that this is this movie is the thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. thi. th. the the the the the the the the the th. the the the the the the the the the th. Starting point is 00:14:47 Yeah, they do. We should say that this movie is like the culmination of like Notting Hill and all those like... Bridget Jones's Diary. Yeah, all those movies fed into a woodchipper and came out with this movie. It's the same writer and director, I think. Well, nice to make a buzzillion dollars on garbage. Yeah. I'm just like baby boomer fantasies about what love is. Because Bill Nahe's character is this rock and roll dude. He's like washed up and like does a Christmas song that's shit.
Starting point is 00:15:17 Right. It's just like rehashing his hit. It's basically the Princess Diana Elton John's song, I was like, I really liked her. I'm just gonna rework this old song that you all liked. I didn't know Candle in the Wind was another song. It was, yeah, yeah, it was about Marilyn Monroe. And he just worked it about to be his, about his friend. Putting friend of quotes. They may have been friends, but come on, don't you got time to write another song? Yeah, she did die for your sins. Nope, Easter, not Christmas, not Christmas. So Bill Nott, he writes this like shitty song and like puts it out and then starts doing
Starting point is 00:15:50 interviews where he's just like, I'm a middle-aged white dude, I can do anything I want. Like, this song's shit, make it go to number one so I'm the best. Yeah. Spill alert they do. Yeah, he wins and gets naked on TV. And his love interest is his manager. Yeah, who he keeps fat shaming through the entire movie. Even when telling him he loves him. All right. This movie also takes all the like heteronormative angles too.
Starting point is 00:16:14 Like you think that the guy from The Walking Dead is gay and in love with the husband of this couple, but he's really in love with her. Like it's just, I don't know. It just, it just, it just, it just, it just, it just, it just, it, it, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, even, even, even, even, even, even, thi, even, even, even, th, even, even, th, even even even even, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thii, thiii, thi, thin, thi, thin, thin, thi, thi, thi, th couple, but he's really in love with her like it's just yeah, I don't know it just Everything about it is stupid and garbage. I would say yeah, yeah, I agree And she was hot off the heels of bent like Beckham when this movie came out. I was going to say that every British person you've ever heard of besides David Beckham is in this movie and then they start referencing David Beckum and I was like, yeah, yeah, just just plow it in there for us. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. Yeah. She's just like, she's like, hey so here those documents that you wanted and ahh-lall-ah-loh-ah-and-he and he's like oh, I'm a necklace and break my wife's hide. I'm Professor's name, huh, make a potion asshole. Are people yelling at their phones?
Starting point is 00:17:25 He was in charge of spells, not potions. He was in charge of potions, and I fucking know that because I like Harry Potter. Hey, then he kills Dumbledore. Spoilers for Harry Batter. When I saw Tom Atkins speak before the fog, he told a story of where he had a sweatshirt made up for a role that he was going to be in that a story of where he had a sweatshirt made up for a role that he was going to be in that they couldn't use the sweatshirt because it said on page whatever, Dumbledore dies.
Starting point is 00:17:51 Yeah. Didn't say Snape kills Dumbledore? I don't remember if it said like Snape kills Dumberdor or Dumberd dies. But like, so he couldn't wear it in the movie, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, but he's, yo, my kids reading that book right now. Yeah. And he thought it was hilarious. Tom Atkins, ruining childhoods. Oh, man. Okay, and then there's the guy who just goes to America to find women.
Starting point is 00:18:17 Yeah. I guess he's a dream sequence? Because he found like January Jones. And then he comes home with Shannon Elizabeth from 13 ghosts. Oh, fuck, she wasn't 13. She remember she couldn't even cry, she couldn't even brush her hair convincingly. She was just looking in the mirror grinning. Well, this woman in like a nude suit is standing behind her and fucking killing it.
Starting point is 00:18:40 Oh, I didn't even notice that. Yeah, oh, in the 13 Ghost, the woman was like, yeah, I got the cuts all over. Oh, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I thought you meant in this movie. What news? There are boobs in this movie. Age suit, like, never mind, doesn't matter. Yeah, there are some titties. Yeah, their our new band name. Actually, that's the name of our romantic comedy podcast,
Starting point is 00:19:08 Laura Linnie's Titties. I always just think of her as a, John Adams's wife, was it Sarah? I can't remember his wife's name. John Adams, the president? Yeah, yeah, she's in the min. Yeah, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that. that. that. that. that. th. th. th. th. that. that. th. th. th. th. the th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. t t t t t toda. t t toda. t toda. toda. toda. today. today. the. th How did he not end up in this movie? I feel like he should be in here somewhere just yelling about something. I mean, it's his wheelhouse for sure.
Starting point is 00:19:30 I did love Liam Neeson's stepkid. He was extremely precocious. I don't really love a very precocious child. He was so adorable. And he always was furrowing his brow. He's on game episode of Doctor Who that I really liked. Yeah, no, no, no, no. Or, the throans, if I'm being honest, I just looked it up.
Starting point is 00:19:51 I should have questioned you watching David Game of Thrones. I saw up the first two or three seasons. It's like so stressful, like. I don't know. I tabbed out after I couldn't keep up with it anymore and I've read the books and I was just like I don't know what's happening to anybody right now. Much like this there's too many fucking characters cut some. Like you could easily have cut Kira Knightley and her husband in the there's three way that they're they're having. But that scene where where he he he he he he he he he he he he the their their their their their their their their their their their their their is their is their is their is their is their is their is their is their is their is their is their is their is their is their is. T. T. T. T. T. T. T. There's. There's. There's. There's. There's. There's. There's is is. There's is. There's is. There's is. There's is. There's is. There's is. There's is. There's is. There's is. There's is. There's is. There's is. There's is. There's is. There's is. There's is. It is. It's th. It's. It's. It's th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I is th. I's th. I's th. I's th. I's th. I th. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. It's th. It's th. It's three way that they're having. But that scene where he's holding the signs out the door, iconic. Is there one of these that you're like,
Starting point is 00:20:27 that should have been the movie? I would want to watch that movie. If one of these was pulled out into its own feature-length film. No. Hugh Grant as the Prime Minister having wacky in America though, which would just simply never happen. You know, it's like not even remotely plausible, but a British prime minister would say that. Even with the tur that's president now,
Starting point is 00:20:55 like when he went over to England, everything building up was like, fuck that guy, fuck that guy, and he was like, hey, what's up? And then he left and they're like, fuck that guy. Yeah. So never to Billy Bob's face. I think just that it just wouldn't, you wouldn't say that America is now our enemy. I just don't think that's why, Springland. And also at this time in the real life, in, in th, in th, in th, we th, in th, in real life, we thi th thi th, we thi thi thi thi, in real life, in real life, we thi, we thi, in real life, we thi, in real life, in real life, in thi, in thi, in real life, in real life, in thi, thi, thi, thi, in thi, in thi, in thi, in thi, in thi, in thi, in thi, in thi, in th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, in real thi, in real life, in real life, in real life, in real life, in real life, in real life, in real life, in real life, in real life, in real life, in real life, in real life, in theeei. thei. thei. thei. thi. thi. thi, endless war. So like, whoops, sorry? I say we, I didn't vote for it, the war.
Starting point is 00:21:29 You did help drag though. Oh yeah, I went out there and I just got those troops out of bed. And I said, get your tea and your grumpets, we're going to war. Necessary military things. Yep. British. And then there's the completely, apropos of nothing, Colin Firth and Portuguese lady, why are they happening? It is disgusting.
Starting point is 00:21:57 Colin Firth's wife cheated on him, so he had to go and... Find a teenager who doesn't speak English and make her work for you and then marry her. I thi that's the bullshit that I'm like, I'm like, that's, that.......... that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that's, that's, the, the, the, the, find a teenager who doesn't speak English and make her work for you and then marry her. I think that's that's the bullshit that I'm like that's not what love is that's not how love works. No, actually. Actually. Actually, actually, so fucking smug in this title too, you know?
Starting point is 00:22:21 It's just the internet has ruined the word actually for us. After that scene where she picks up his coffee cup and the pages of his book go into the lake or whatever, he dresses in like a clean shirt and she's just naked under a blanket that is extremely inappropriate, she works for you. Yeah, she works for him. In the lore of this movie, therefore, she is... Ugh, yeah. Let's talk about the saddest one, which is the Laura Linney one. Is that the saddest one? For me, I think so.
Starting point is 00:22:53 So Laura Linney is real into the CFO guy. He's so fucking buffed though. Oh my god, yeah. And he's Spanish, too, so he's got a sweet accent here. And he kind of like puts the moves on her. Spanish Carl. Spanish Carl. As he's known around the office. He's like, please don't call me that.
Starting point is 00:23:14 PORPA-FOR. So she's into him. The boss says, go hit it. No, stay the fuck out of it, Professor Snee. And the guy the guy the guy the guy the guy the guy, and the guy, and the guy, and the guy, and the guy, and the guy, and the guy, and the guy, and the guy, and the guy, and the guy, and the guy, and the guy, and the guy, the guy, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's, the. He's, he's, he's, the. He's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, he's, th. He's, th guy's like, oh actually I'm real into you too and I think we should make this happen. Yeah. They have like a tender dancing scene at the Christmas party. She's nice. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I think all that buildup, like when they go back to her house and she's like, hey I just need a second. I just need a second to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to th. I th. I th. I just th. I just th. I just thi. I just thi. I just thi. I'm really theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee an thee an the an the an the an the an the corridor to the stairwell and just like stamps her feet and cheers and I was like I fucking love you Laura Lenny. Yeah that was cute. I just like adorable. Yeah and they go upstairs and they start making out and you see a Laurie Linnie's titties. And then she gets a
Starting point is 00:23:57 phone call and she has to answer it. Yeah and it's her brother who's in an institution. Yeah. Because he has some form of mental disability. Yeah. And it's her brother who's in an institution. Yeah. Because he has some form of mental disability. Yeah. And we've seen her talking on the phone before in the same tone of voice. Yeah. Yes, darling, of course, darling. And you don't know who she's talking to. Maybe it's a kid, you're not sure. It's her brother. She goes to visit him.
Starting point is 00:24:23 She really has to break off the li the liaison the liaison the liaison the liaison the liaison the liaison the liaison the liaison the liaison the liaison him. And she like has to break off the like the liaison with Carl. He's he's yeah. They know. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. And. But like the phone rings a second time and Carl's like just don't answer it and we can fuck. That's how they say it in Spanish. But she does answer it. And then she goes to the institution. And I can't figure out why her brother is in England, because she's definitely American. She says our parents, it sounded like their parents had,
Starting point is 00:24:56 were there with both of them, then their parents died. She said, now that we're over here, we don't have any family. Unless she came over there and brought him with her her she couldn't leave him in America. I don't know but it doesn't seem right that you would uproot him, whatever. So she has to forfeit her any relationship with Carl to keep her brother happy. Yeah, in some way shape or form. That sucks. It's a huge bummer. Yeah, why is this in this movie? It's supposed to be rom. Yeah that ends sadly and so does, um, Professor's Nape ape ape ape ape ape ape ape ape na Nape na Nap Nap Nap Nap Nap Nap Nap Nap Nap Nap Nap Nap th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th, th, it's th, it's thi, it doesn't thi, but it doesn't tho, but it doesn't th, but it doesn't th, but it doesn't that doesn't that doesn't that doesn't that doesn't that doesn't that doesn't that's that's that's that's that's that's th, but it doesn't th, it doesn't th, it doesn't th, it doesn't th, it's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, thi this movie? It's supposed to be Romcom. This does not come. Yeah, that ends sadly, and so does, um, Arrester Snape and Emma Thompson. It ends super sadly.
Starting point is 00:25:30 And I don't think a lot of people think that it does end sadly. Would people think that that's happy? They think that's so unhappy when she picks him up for the kids, right? Right, yeah, so let's talk about the Snape one. So Snape and Emma Thompson, Snape and Jane Austin. Wow, I like that. Are, you know, they've got a couple kids, their gears into their marriage, and he's getting hit on by this much younger assistant that's basically like, Doug, I am a 100% DTF. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:07 You just got to buy me a necklace. Yeah. So they go out shopping and he buys her a necklace, Emma Thompson and Snape. And like through circumstances, she sees the necklace and thinks that he's buying it for her. Yeah. For Emma Thompson. And then he buys her a Joni Mitchell CD. So heartbreaking.
Starting point is 00:26:29 That scene is fucking monstrous. Yeah. Like, yeah. And then she confronts him later on and is like, listen, what would you do? Would you leave, or would you stay knowing it'll never be the same? Yeah, knowing that it's going to be worse. Yeah. And he doesn't answer that question. It that. It that. It that. It that. It that. It that. It th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thinks. It th is thinks. It th is th is th is thinks. So thinks. So thinks thinks thinks thinks thinks thinks thinks thinks thinks thinks thinks thinks thinks thinks thinks thinks thinks thinks thinks. So thinks. So th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is thinks. So thinks. So thinks. It thinks. It's thinks. It's thinks. It's thinks thinks thinks thinks thinks thinks thinks thinks thinks thinks thinks thinks thinks thinks thinks thinks gonna be worse. Yeah, and he doesn't answer that question. It doesn't and then he the end We at the end we see him coming off a flight at the airport and she just Greets him like I'm fine. Yeah, and he gisses are on the cheek and she's like mm-hmm well, yeah, how do people think that's a positive ending for them? Oh, thin, the? Yeah, the the the they? Yeah, they? Yeah, they? Yeah, they? Yeah, they? Yeah, they? Yeah, they? Yeah, they? Yeah, they? Yeah, they? Yeah, thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi th thi th th thi th th th th thi th. thi thi thi thi thi th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi the the the the the the the the thi the thi thi the thi thi thi th not, how do people think that's a positive ending for them? Because they stayed together for the kids, right? That's actually miserable.
Starting point is 00:27:09 I agree, but like it had this, it's like, I don't know, I didn't feel like it felt as, as much of a bummer as the Lorelenny one. But it is, like it's more of a thinker. Speaking of thinkers, I'd like to show you this chart that's on Wikipedia that shows all of the relationships between the characters. It looks like that still, I don't know if you've seen it from, it's always sunny in Philadelphia where Charlie is just freaking out in front of like a board of like a board of um thumbtacks and lines. It also sort of looks like a map of the Tokyo subway. It does. It just ends. It just th. It just th. It just th. It just th. It just th. It just th. th. th. th. to th. to to th. to to th. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Who's Karen? Karen is Emma Thompson. Oh, sorry. Jane Austin. Everyone knows Karen. I mean, I'm looking to see if there's anybody on here that we've like really missed discussing. How do you feel about a, uh, cue dancing to the Pointer Sisters? Was that a Pointer Sister's song?
Starting point is 00:28:13 It was, yeah, I didn't understand why that song was selected for him. Was that, it's like, jump up? Yeah, for my love. Yeah, why would... They're like, he did a great job standing up to America. This songs for him. Jump for my love, it? th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, th, th, th, to th, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, to, to, to, to, cue, cue, cue, cue, cue, cue, cue, cue, cue, cue, cue, cue, cue, cue, cue, cue, cue, cue, cue, cue, cue, cue, cue, cue, cue, cue, cue, to, to, to, to, to a great job standing up to America. This song's for him. Jump for my love? He's a terrible dancer. Is that the joke? I think. Does he know he's a terrible dancer? I think so.
Starting point is 00:28:34 Is it like a Tom Cruise risky business? Yeah, yeah. A little bit, but it's also like the non-sexy version of that. He's not sliding around in his tidy whiteies. Right. He's just being embarrassing. Tom Cruisey? Or just like, Tom Cruisey. I don't know, that's what I'm asking.
Starting point is 00:28:51 In risky business he was, because everyone knew he wasn't, they didn't know he was a psychopath. Yeah. Yeah. Tom gone too, then. Oh yeah. So when they're walking alongside he looks the same height. Yeah. That's so funny. Put up a 6-2. But like, what do I know? I've always been a giant.
Starting point is 00:29:10 You're born a giant. So yeah, the Hugh, why can I think of this guy's last name? Hugh Grant? He grant. Such a get. Say it again. It was funny. The first thing.
Starting point is 00:29:28 That was so stupid. Why were they in this movie? I don't know. And how are they, well, let's see how they're connected. Hold on, where are they on this chart? What is his name? Martin Freeman's name is John. Okay.
Starting point is 00:29:42 So good luck finding that one. They have a professional relationship with Tony, who's the director of the nude scenes, who's the guy. Oh, he's Colin's friend, who's telling him there's no point in going to America. It's not going to work for you. I didn't realize they were the same person because they're just bit parts. He's just a bit part in both. Yeah, it's literally their only connection. That's th. That's th. That's th. That's th. That's th. That's their th. That's their their th. That's just their th. It's just their th. It's just their their their just, their just, th. It's just, their just, their just, th. It's just, their just, their just, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their their their th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. their th. their their th. their their their th. their th. their their their their th. their connection. This movie is really unkind to America. Which is fine with me. Yeah, we know, I know. But it's like, America is just filled with dumb women who want to fuck British dudes and dumb presidents who want to try to fuck British ladies. It's true, though.
Starting point is 00:30:16 Stereotypes about Americans are often true. You know, we're gross. We're gross and we're like enamored of the British. It's true. I mean, if I could spend all of my time watching British crime dramas, I would. And yeah, that includes like Scottish and Welsh. Sure. Shetland. You watch Shetland. I've done on like half a season of Shetland. I love Shetland. I love Shetland. You need to go back into it. The-the-T the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the, the. the. the. thi. the. the. th. th. th done like half a season of Shetland. I love Shetland. Shetland. You need to go back into it.
Starting point is 00:30:48 The last season gets very, uh, the last one that's on Netflix is good and you get into it. Yeah, I think like I was watching Shetland and then. Yeah, I think like I was like, oh I gotta go, I gotta go to Hinterland right now. Oh I don't think I finished Hinterland. Oh man, that is just wallowing and fucking pity. It's so good. Shit, then. Granchester was my last big one that I got into. I haven't seen that. It's about the priest and the cop we solve crimes together. Oh boy. It's good? It's very very very very very very very very very. It's very. It's very. It's very. It's very. It's very. It's very. It's very. It's very. It's very. It's very. It's very. It's very. It's very th. It's very th. It's very th. Starting point is 00:31:26 and I was like, what am I doing in my life? What Swedish stuff you like? The Swedish Volender, I really like. Valender? Yeah. Not Kenneth Brandor? Not Kenneth Brand. Does the Kenneth Brand. Kenneth Bran, just, does it the, Kenneth Branner, wa, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what th, th, what the, what the, what the, what th, what th, what th, what th, what th, what th, what th, what th, what th, what th, what th, what th, what th, what th, what th, what th, what th, what th, what th, what th, what th, what th, what th, what th, what th, what th, what th, what th, what th, what th, what th, what th, what th, th, th... Yeah I couldn't watch it because of that like yeah it's like why did you just
Starting point is 00:31:46 pretend you're in England? There's a plenty of dark shitty places in England you could be from right. Although apparently it really increased tourism to Sweden so that's okay yeah yeah yeah because it really isn't Sweden. What was the Finnish show called? Hmm? It was really upsetting. I literally just watched it. I have no idea. There's another Swedish thing called the Department Q. There's like a series of movies that are equally like just a fucking bummer. Yeah. So like I don't know why I love the bummer so much. I mean really do. Because life isn't
Starting point is 00:32:20 sad enough is how I feel about it. I think I need the artificial sad to like deal with the regular sense. Right, to not feel like everything is just terrible to you, it's actually terrible to everybody. It's true. Border Town. Border Town. Border town. It's about a town on the border of Finland and Russia. But every time I would start watching it I keep on pushing my love into a border town. Border town. That is to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to not. to not. to not. to to not. to not. to not. to not. to not. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to not. Go. It's called Dark.
Starting point is 00:33:05 It's like a German stranger things. And I like six episodes in and I am into it. Good. There's some like time travel shit. There's mysterious deaths. There's like, you know, weird interactions between people from different time. It's very good. I like it. I'll have to check. I to check. I to check. I to check.
Starting point is 00:33:21 I'll have to check that out. It sounds much better than love actually. Dark. It's on Netflix. Dark. Dark. Dark. Dark. Okay.
Starting point is 00:33:29 Donnie Darko. It is much better than love actually. Most things are. Yeah. I mean, like a good to the dentist. I love it now. It just went recently. God, I love when they scrape your teeth. Oh, no, no, no, come on. I love it so much. I want to scrape people's teeth for a living. I'm like in the wrong line of work.
Starting point is 00:33:48 I know we've talked about this before. Every day I know it wears to the dentist. I feel like it's a test that I'm constantly failing. Why? Do they tell you? You need to go to different dentist. No, I'm always get like since I started going every six months, which I highly recommend everyone do. You should go every six months. They just script your teeth.
Starting point is 00:34:13 I'm so glad that after not go to the dentist. I have all of my original teeth and I'm very excited about that. And I could do, like, that is not a common thing in my family. So I'm very excited about that. But I just feel like I'm going in there and I'm like, oh, they're gonna tell me. I'm flusting wrong. They're gonna even, Alan, is throwing your flossers on the ground. Stop doing that. I'm so flossy. You so flossing.
Starting point is 00:34:47 Nah, they should never tell you that, because then you won't go back and that's bad for their business. Well, exactly, and they never would. They're like, they're doing. they. Oh, broke ass brains. As I've told you before, before I send every email that I send, I go, this is going to add badly. You know what? And I feel bad about that because sometimes it takes me like a day or two to get back to
Starting point is 00:35:09 you. And I'm always like Alan thinks I'm mad at him, but really like I just, I started writing an email and then like, thrown. of my psychosis. I know, but I don't want you to feel that. Let's get back into this movie. Oh, if you want. Let's break down Colin Firth. Like literally, let's break him down. Make him watch videos of us killing his family. Would that be a good way to start? So I have a current favorite hip-hop song? It's by Faro Monk, or Monch. It's called 24 hours. Okay. And the chorus is it is giving my mother fucking. to th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to to to to to to to th. th. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. the thi. the the the the the the. the the the the. the the. the the. the. the. the. Let's the. Let's the. Let's the. Let's Faro Monk or Monch. It's called 24 Hours. Okay. And the chorus is it is giving my mother fucking money. I want my god damn money. And it makes me really happy when I listen to it. I like that. And at one point he says, don't make me show you pictures of your daughter's grade school. And that's just like, holy shit. That's terrifying. Yeah, that's really, just give that man his money. But in another point he's like, I need money and I got to buy my medicines, Lexapro and
Starting point is 00:36:07 Albuterol and I'm like, oh I can, I'm down with what you're doing here. Sure, sure. You can probably get a generic of those for not whatever. Well, he talks about how he's going to have to go to Canada or Mexico because he can't afford him. Oh my the to to to to to to to to to to to to to to their to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to their to their their their their to to to their to to to to to to to to to to their their their their their their their their their their their their their their to to to to their their their their their their their their their. their their. their. their their. their. their their. their. the. the. the. the. the. try. try. to. try. to. toe. toe. toe. toe. to to to to to the. to the. threaten to break him down. So that's my favorite threat right now. Don't make me show you pictures of your kids great school. Yeah, that's, yeah. That's a fucked up thing to say to somebody. That beats a DMX with it's hard to breathe with a hole in your chest. Oh my god DMX, you fucking mania. Okay, let's break down Colin Firts' So Colin Firth's partner cheats on him. Yeah, with his brother maybe?
Starting point is 00:36:47 Yeah, that's his brother. Because he's at the Christmas thing later, yeah. And he's like, he walks back in the house after he left his partner because he was coming to check on her because she was feeling sick. But she's like rolling around in a turtlene and underpants. Yeah, that's like, thi. the, the, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's, because. Yeah, because. Yeah. that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's th. th. th. th. th. that's that's that's that's their. thr-s thr-s thr-s throoooooooooooo'. Because he's th. th. th. that's th house gear. Do you think that's her sexy gear? I just think that's like, if you're really sick, you're taking off your turtleneck sweater. That's true. You're putting on like your grubby t-shirt. Yeah, that's all.
Starting point is 00:37:17 Maybe she had hot leg syndrome. That's fine. You can, no, I'm just saying, he comes back in the house and his brother brother, th, th, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, no, I'm just saying, I'm just saying. He comes back in the house and his brother sitting and is like, what are you doing here? And then he hears his girlfriend or whatever, he yelling, like, I went you to come in here and pound me before he gets home or whatever. She's like, oh, what's going on? That's gross. So he immediately flees to France or Phran's. France, I think, yeah. Oh, that's right, because she didn't speak French and he didn't speak French. Yeah. Or he speaks some French, but he doesn't, he doesn't tell English.
Starting point is 00:37:48 Whenever he would talk it just said mumbling in French on the subtitle, so I don't know. I don't know. Oh, man. So yeah, he gets this woman who's a cleaning his house, I guess, and bringing him tea tea tea tea tea tea tea tea tea tea tea tea tea he looks like a teenager. I found this one really distressing because she felt underage. Oh, okay. Did you think that? I didn't think that, but now that you put that in that light,
Starting point is 00:38:11 it's even grosser. Because the power dynamic is fucked. The power dynamic is fucked. the power dynamic thing in English that she's saying in Portuguese. I hate that. They could have cut these too also and the movie would have been better. Yeah. Although I did like the scene where the mob was going to find her and someone's like, he's going to kill Aurelia and someone else is like, cool. I was like, yeah, Portugal, you look like shit right now. I love dead selling her in a slavery, let's go watch.
Starting point is 00:38:49 Yeah, her sister was funny. I would have liked to see her movie. The funny, the fucked up thing is that like, the Colin Furth thing was, the whole thing was just to get to that scene. It was obvious like someone was like, oh, what if a bunch of Portuguese people are just screaming down the street? Yeah. How do I get here from A to Portuguese people screaming down the street? I mean, I feel like this movie may have been fun to try and write because it's like a like thought puzzle, like you're trying to get it to. A logic puzzle? There There you go. That's a better way to put it. The person who the porn p porn thorn p porn th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. T's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a th. th. that's a th. th. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. that's a that's a to. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It's a th. It's a th. It's a the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the to. the the the the the the the the the the th. th. the same person who takes the 930 train, you know? I like those. I'm pretty good at those.
Starting point is 00:39:34 Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's one thing I can do. You can do a lot of things. I'll tell you what I can't do, which is leave my wedding on a boat wearing a sparkly crop top. Kira Knightley does. Why does she change out of her wedding dress into a sparkly crop top to leave? She's just more comfortable for her bellies exposed. Also that video that he made of her at the wedding is a fucked. How does she walk away from that gun?
Starting point is 00:40:02 You know I think I'm might like this guy now. Or like, he's okay. I think I need to call the police. He's okay. Yeah. I'd be like, if that dude came to my house and rang the doorbell, I would slam a shot. You know what I mean? Have you seen the thatea, tha'a' that, that, that, that, that, the that, that, that, that, that, that, the, that, that, that, the, that, the, that, the, that, that, the, that, that, the the, that, that, that, tho, the the to to the to the to to to the to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the to, the to to the that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, I really like. Yeah. Because she has a card that says, oh shit, you're Jeff Goldblum.
Starting point is 00:40:26 Because she didn't, she thought she was at a different house. Oh, I read something on Twitter recently. This guy was like, this guy was like, I forget who he was, this is a writer or somebody. And he met Jeff Gold like, oh my God, Jeff Goldblum knows who I am. That's amazing. And then he like heard Jeff Goldblum at later points in the party being introduced to people and being like, oh yes, of course. Because Jeff Goldblum just says that to everybody.
Starting point is 00:40:53 Because everybody wants to feel like Jeff Goldblum knows who they are. Exactly. And he knows that. That's a power dynamic I can get behind. a weirdly charmed life. Oh yeah. He just put out a jazz record? Of course he did. Of course he did. Pittsburgh zone, Squirrel Hill zone. Right? I think so.
Starting point is 00:41:11 Do you see his movie Pittsburgh? No. Is it with Moby? And Ilyana Douglas? I had to mishear what you just said. Because it sounded like you said Mopi was in it. And moby is funny. th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi said Mopi was in this movie. Moby is in it and Moby is funny. Moby's addicted to porn in this movie. It's really, really funny. It's Moby as Moby.
Starting point is 00:41:29 Wait, the guy who can get his ass kicked on that one M&M song? It's Moby. And also who's the top, Ed Begley Jr. I think, There's a point where Iliana Douglas looks at Ed Begley Tuner and just goes, can you believe more in fucking Pittsburgh? Really like. Anyway. So, yeah, Kier Knightley is looking for video footage
Starting point is 00:41:58 because the videographer at their wedding shot everything with like a turquoise filter on or something. Sue them or get it edited, I don't know. So she goes to best friend, uh, Walking Dead. Rick from Walking Dead, and who everyone thinks is in love with Chihuahua tellia for. She's like, hey, do you have this video? She sneaks in with a crop top and she like brings him a banana. Yeah, some pie. And he's like, I don't want that. And he's like, don't watch a video. I think I taped over it anyway. And then it's just a video of him close up on her.
Starting point is 00:42:28 Yeah. Like inches from her face. I don't know how she didn't realize that was happening. And how she didn't want, she like, she turned around? She goes, oh, you can see the reaction of, oh, it's not him you love, it's me. Mm-hmm. And that's not followed with, oh, I gotta go. Oh my God, I'm so scared. She's just like, everyone should worship me. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:52 Because I'm Karen Nightly. Yeah. 18, Jesus. Yeah. Yeah, that's another inappropriate than this movie. You know what this movie does have that I like though? Shoot. The Mariah Carey Christmas song? I hate Christmas songs. I love that Mariah Care. Can drop that in right here? I can. Can that be okay? Sure. Thanks. I don't want a lot for Christmas. And that was the Mariah Carrey Christmas song.
Starting point is 00:43:14 You guys, if you guys heard that yet this Moriah Carrey Christmas song. You guys, have you guys heard that yet this year? I bet you haven't. Brazilian times. Isn't it becoming like the most hated song because it just played constantly? You know, I recently heard people defending that Paul McCartney song, and I just feel like you should probably not do that. That wings jam?
Starting point is 00:43:42 Is that wings? No, don't say it. Don't do it, don't do it, don't do it, don't do it, don't do it, don't th people, don't th, don't th, don't th, don't th, don't th, don't th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, th th that, that, that, that, that, that, tho, that, that, that, that. That wings jam? Is that wings? Simply... No! Don't say it! Don't do it! Don't do it! Don't do it! Don't do it! Don't do it! Don't do it! Don't do it, don't do it. Don't do it. That's the one though, right? Yeah, that's garbag. Yeah, that's a tha. tha. tha. tho. thr. th'a' the. th' th' th'a. th'a. th'a. th'a. th'a. th'a. th'a. th'a. th'a. th'a. th'a'a'a'a'a'a'a'a'a' th's th's th's th's th's tho. th's th's th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th's th. th's th's th's th's th's th's th's th's the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. tho. the. thooooooooo. the. the. the. the. the. the., band on the run. There you go. There you go. You know what I like about Wings? Brian. It's Brian from Wings. Oh, we've been getting nonstop alerts that Stephen Weber is on an episode of Mick Garris's
Starting point is 00:44:15 post-mortem podcast. And people are like, Katie, Katie, Katie. I didn't know that. I'll listen to it. Do you think that they can somehow set me up with Brian from Wings? People, the internet? Can they make this happen? Just to that, not to like, make out.
Starting point is 00:44:29 Define set me up. To like, have a conversation with. Definitely. He's been on a podcast. We do a podcast. And I love Brian from the, you't he though. He's Steven. He's a different person. No, he's gonna be the shining You're gonna get Jack. No, he's gonna be the boyfriend from single white female and he's just gonna have a shoe design
Starting point is 00:44:52 That's my romcom single white female. It's a comedy in some ways It's a horror movie. It is more so than not fuss. But not more so than this movie. It's no more. It's no more so than than than than than than than than than than than than than than than than than than than than than than than than th. th. th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thus thus thus. thus thi. thi. thi. this this this thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. But not more so than this movie. No, no. Or over the top, really. So yeah, this movie is just, oh man. Also, can we talk about how all Hu, they, the woman that's, Hugh Grant is going after, they keep calling her chubby, and making a big thing about her fat thighs, even the lady cop from, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, the, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, the, th-a, th-a, the, the, thus, the, th-a, thus, thus, thus, th-a, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, thus, th-a, th-a, th-a, th-a, th-a, th-a, th-a, th-a, th-a, th-a, th-a, th-a, th-a, thi, thi-a, that, that, that, that, tho tho-a, tho-a, tho-a, tho-a, tho And making a big thing about her fat thighs. Even the lady cop from, what was she in? Fuck, which of those cop shows was she in? Not Marcella.
Starting point is 00:45:35 Maybe Marcella. I don't know. You've watched too many. Too many. It's I'm over. She's in collateral? No, wasn't Marcella? Also. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. Also, I can, I know there's going to be another season of Marcella.
Starting point is 00:45:48 I cannot watch it after the last season. Did you watch it? No, I tapped out in the first season. Man, do not watch the end of season thee. I was really feeling orphan black and then at one point I was like, I can't do this anymore. What am I doing? Sometimes you have to cut and run. Yeah, yeah, for sure. Which show with that lady?
Starting point is 00:46:11 Yeah, but they were just like, oh yeah, the chubby one with the big fat thighs, big fat chubby one? I was like, why don't color the woman with the glossy eyebrows for it being 2003. Her hair is so glossy. Yeah, she looks fantastic. Yeah. Whatever. Man. Yeah, this fucking movie.
Starting point is 00:46:32 It was like, are you, are you hating this thii. Are you, okay, because we're gonna pick it up and not. Just dig that knife in and just twist a little bit. Yeah. Who is this movie for other than moms? Middle-aged women, yeah. Middle-aged American women anglophiles. You know, few grant fans.
Starting point is 00:46:55 You know anybody that calls themselves an anglophile? No, although I think I could probably be classified as one, but I wouldn't lead with that. The self-identifying always weirds me out. Yeah. Yeah. You're just saying this stuff. Identifying anything yourself as a any type of file I think is gross. Sure. Well I'm a necroft no. No that was not going to work. No no no. No. No. Your name is Peter File like from the IT crown. See a British show is like I'm obsessed with that show. It's so good. You you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you the the the the that that that the that that that the the that that the crown. Starting point is 00:47:40 never mind. Seven two five three. That's hilarious. Oh my God what else is there to talk about. Liam Nieson and that kid when he says I'm gonna kick you out of the house I could have sex with Claudia Schiffer in every room in the house. Including your room? He's nine. He's a child. That kid is just too precocious. It makes me uncomfortable. my kid isn't so precocious. It doesn't make you feel the thi. H. H. H. H. H. H. H. H. H. H. That's. H. That's. That's. It's. Does it make you feel better when he's playing drums and he can't keep time? He gets better. But he works at it. That's the point, right? You know what didn't make me feel better was when his nine-year-old little friend was wearing a handkerchief hemmed, a little mini shirt singing all I want for Christmas is you,
Starting point is 00:48:25 like, she's fucking Mariah Carey, you know? I felt that distressing. It was real weird. Pointing at people in the ground? Yeah. I like that. She's a small child. She points at the drummer kid,
Starting point is 00:48:39 Liam Neeson's step kid. And he's like, yeah, you do. And then she points at other people in the ground and he gets angry. And I was like, is this kid gonna fight the fucking ground? Get away from my woman. Get away from my woman. Would that he did. Starts chucking drumsticks. Dropsticks were as big as he is.
Starting point is 00:48:57 Yeah, he was adorable. That's undoubtedly true. Oh, oh. Starting point is 00:49:11 Like when he's, I guess when he's wrapping the gift and pouring the flower petals in, it's sort of funny, but then why is he at the airport later? Do they know how many people live in London? A fucking lot! I don't know the number? But you wouldn't, it doesn't, they're not all at he throw at once. If I did, I wouldn't know how to convert it into American. I know. I'm just like, you have to put it through one of those Google calculators. It's metric. Every time I'm doing a Paul Hollywood and I just have to stand there going, Google, how many is this of this? Yeah, come on, the one, the one, the one, thing, thing, thing, thing, thing, thi. What is a thi. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. I started watching MasterClass at your at your behest. Rob was like trying to watch it with me and he's like, well, who wins? And I was like, babe, they're showing you how to make shit.
Starting point is 00:49:56 Sit down, we win. That's what we're the winners. We win, win, fall. Hollywood just keeps yelling, you have asbestos hands at Barry, Barry. Did he say that? Yeah, because she doesn't use oven mitt. She just grabs stuff because she had burnt them so many times so she doesn't have feelings. Well, that's one way to ensure you never do again. Oh, God, Mary.
Starting point is 00:50:17 She's a lunatic. She's a maniac. Yeah, Mr. Beane, Mr. Bean, Mr. Berman, Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. Mr. thinininininininin, Mr. thin, Mr. thin, Mr. thin, Mr. thin, Mr. Bin, Mr. thin, Mr. thin, Mr. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. to thee. the. the. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. underused in this movie. At no point did he put a speedo on over top of his jeans? I disagree. I think that him being in this movie is criminal. I think he should have stayed the fuck away. He didn't put something on top of a car that he lost later. No. He didn't.
Starting point is 00:50:34 Can I also be honest with you? Yeah. I don't like Mr. Bean. Not not. Not. Not. Not. Not. Not. Not. Not. Not. Not. Not. Not. Not. Not. Not. Not. Not. Not. Not. Not. Not. Not. Not. Not. Not. Not. Not. Not. Not. Not. Not. Not. Not. Not. Not. Not. Not. Not. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. Not. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. he. He. He. He. He. He. He is. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He he. He he. He he. He he. He is. not for me. I felt like he was like, we were coming down from Benny Hill and we had to get to Mr. Bean and be like, well, maybe this is funny. Maybe are you being served as funny? No, all right, let's move on guys. Just get John Cleese in there. Let him do something instead. No?
Starting point is 00:50:56 I agree, faulty towers is fantastic. So funny. I wish he'd been in this movie. We really do know a lot of British stuff. Oh my god, it's all I care about. I haven't seen the wire. Ask me how many episodes of Faulty Towers I've seen. How many of us towards? All of them. Okay, okay. How about Mash? I've never seen mash. Is that British? No. Okay. It's American. Yeah, that makes sense. I don't know. But see like, someone recently told me that my talking about Seinfeld is like our parents talking about MASH. Like, sure. Shut the fuck up about this thing I don't know. Or like people talk about the Simpsons. Oh, yeah. Oh, boy. There's so much Simpsons and I know very little. Like, I feel like Simpsons is like geological time and I know like the dinosaurs. thaa dinosaurs like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, s. S. Si. Si. Si. Si. Si. Si. Si. Si. Si. Si. Si. Si. Si. Si. Si. Si. Si. S. S. S. Right, right. I remember, I watched the first seasons when I was like, legitimately a little girl,
Starting point is 00:51:46 and it's still happening. So did you think when the American goes and he finds January Jones and the other ladies, and they're like, oh, we're definitely going to fuck you right now, that they were going to rob him? Because that's what I thoughtthey're being so absurd. They only have one bed and it gets too hot in there? So they sleep naked? Right. And then it happens though.
Starting point is 00:52:10 It happens. We see it from the outside? I don't understand that at all. I don't understand that at all. I guess I would watch that movie because it would just be a shitty porn. Don't you think? Or American Pie? That's what I assume American Pie is. Having never seen one of those. We'll be doing it next week.
Starting point is 00:52:30 Is that a ROM comp? Oh, I don't know. I think that's just a calm. That makes sense. Please don't tell them we're doing American Pie. We're not doing American Pie. No. Not do this. I forgot.
Starting point is 00:52:42 I have this note. So when when when when when when when th. I th. I to. I to. I to. I to. I to. I to. I forgot. I forgot. I forgot. I forgot. I forgot. I forgot. I forgot. So when Alan Rickman gives Emma Thompson the Joanie Mitchell CD, because she mentions earlier on that he likes, that she likes Jony Mitchell, which was nice because he was listening and he got everything. Missy yelled, break the CD and shiv him. You better never fuck up with Missy because she would kill you. But I was laughing so hard. She wasn't wrong. No.
Starting point is 00:53:10 It was during the sea where Eva Tubs was crying where it was just like I can't watch Ematoms. I don't watch him atoms and cry. I was just sad in her room. Oh God, this fucking piece of shit. What about when the kid breaks through security? In a post-9-11 world, too. I feel like you can't do that. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:30 And it's like, charming? No, that's domestic terrorism. And they were just like, oh, whatever, Liam Neeson is a literally just push him to Liam Nisen. They literally just push him to Liam Nisen. I don't want to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get th. th. th. th. that, th. their that, that, that, their that, that, that, that, that, that, that, you you you you you you that, that, you you you you you you that, that, you you you you you that, that, you you you you you that, you you you you that, you the the the the the the th. Yeah. Liam Neeson is a badass older gentleman. Yeah, I mean, he seems great. Liam Neeson. Sure, yeah.
Starting point is 00:53:50 That's all. You some that movie Widows, which I really enjoyed. So do you want to, uh, that didn't work. I'm sorry. No, that's okay. This movie's a zero. I fucking hate this movie. Wow, I didn't even go that low. Yeah, I mean, can I go, can I, can I change it? Yeah, yeah, zero? I just wanted to like, I felt like this was like diffing our toe and what the other, like half of the world watches. The people who aren't wearing black all the time is what you're saying. The people who I didn't find on the street earlier wearing a black shirt, black pants and a black cardigan, those people? I feel like my just effervescent personality is gonna just really point me out
Starting point is 00:54:33 in the street there. Sure, you were bubbling, which I was like, oh, you might want to get that. It's hard for me to. It. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. th. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the the thei. thei. thei. thei. thei. the. the. the. the. the. th. th. th. th me to believe that people exist that would like this. They do though. I get it, I know that. There's all these like things that are like, this is our classic movie that we watch every Christmas and I'm just like, what? Why? What is it going on this world? I want to see how much money this?
Starting point is 00:54:55 Oh, I can't look! I didn't tell you because the first thing you always do is look on Netflix. I know. I didn't even look I rented it 299 SD. It mean like 250 million. A week. I'm so fucking pissed. Oh man, 250 million and $299 now. The film was released in the United States on 14th November, 2003, receiving mixed reviews. It opened in the United Kingdom one week later to positive reviews. Oh sure, yeah.
Starting point is 00:55:41 So the Brits liked it. Yeah, because it doesn't shit-talk Britain. I mean... I want to see the Brexit version of this movie that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I th. th. th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. Yeah, because it doesn't shit-talk Britain. I mean... I want to see the Brexit version of this movie, you know, that I'm done in America. Brexit to my heart. Ahhhh. And then it ends with all those people hugging in the airport. What do you think of that?
Starting point is 00:55:59 I just hated it. It's like, um, tell, let's go to the airport and I watch. He was talking about 9-11, wasn't he? Yeah, I said, wait a minute, 9-11 dickhead when I was... Oh, God. Yeah, this is a zero from both of us, except I spent $2. I return it? Yes. No.
Starting point is 00:56:28 What did you got for me? I was going to take you with a little mail bag. A little mailback? To a where? Okay, don't do it? Mailbag! Thank you. From Friend of the podcast, DVT. DTs. DTs. Davy T. DTs.
Starting point is 00:56:45 That's not what DTs means. He said some nice stuff about us and I thanked him for it and he said, you're welcome. But really, you deserve all the kudos. No. I recognize that there's a lot of work involved in putting an hour-long show out every Monday. I don't think you've ever missed a week, and even when Katie was away, that takes commitment. Oh, we did, though. We did. He's wrong, but he's wrong, but let's want to be wrong. Listen to the show is like hanging out and shooting the shit with friends who consistently
Starting point is 00:57:12 make you laugh. I enjoyed a great deal. I would miss it, if how you want to even know. I'm very defensive. What did you say to me? What did you say? What did you say? What did you fucking say? That dude's in Florida, right? Let's go down there? Let's go down there and show them what's up. It's also very cold here. I don direct flight to and then leaving. I haven't been in Florida since, oh let's see, it's been a while since I've been in Florida.
Starting point is 00:57:52 I went to Clearwater last spring, had a nice time. Probably go back this year. All right, it's nice. A lot of rich people there. Yeah, fell out of place. Come on, rubbing elbows with the non-hoi poloie, whatever you call rich people. The joy polo. We gotta go. We gotta wrap this up. Happy, happy 2018 guys. It's New Year's Eve. Yeah. So we did this movie for you to ruin your day.
Starting point is 00:58:14 We did a ridiculous movie. What are we doing next week though? No, I don't fucking know. You want to do a new movie? Oh yeah! We already decided we we decided to head like real pros. And I forgot, because I'm a real pro. We're doing from Dusk till Dawn. That'll be fun. That should be fun. I've never seen it, but I know I will like it. I know I will like it. I know I will like it.
Starting point is 00:58:32 I know that. I think I will like it, I Selma Hiaic. I'm looking beautiful. She would look beautiful after falling into a vat of acid. It's just impossible to make her look ugly. Yeah, and George Clooney. I'm going to rave about George Clooney for a while. I think that will certainly be our first Clooney. Yeah, I think so. I mean, I don't think he on? E-R? Yeah. Baby, baby George Clooney. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:05 Yeah. Yeah. Well. And that's on Netflix. So don't rent it. It's on Netflix. Thank you for reminding me and telling me, fuck. I am so, I hate myself.
Starting point is 00:59:14 I like literally hate myself. I can afford $3 on a dumb movie. to be wrong. My New Year's resolution is to not spend more money on dumb movies than I have to. Okay. Yeah. I was thinking about shutter to getting shutter so I stop doing that. What's shutter? It's the it's the horror movie thing that you can get through Amazon and it's like they've got a ton of movies that we watch. Yeah. So come back from Dust Still Dawn. Thanks for listening to this episode and sitting through love actually with us. I mean, even if you didn't, God bless you. And have us safe and happy New Year's. A lot of dangers, this day.
