Episode Date: May 13, 2019

This week we're discussing the final feature film directed by one of the masters, Wes Craven. Unfortunately, it has a numerical digit in the middle of a word so you that's a pretty good indication of ...how the film is going to go. We give you: "Scre4m" (or SCR-FOUR-M or Scream 4, it's fine). Special topics for your consideration include: summertime cookies, romance lost and found in the "Scream" franchise, more meta than the meta, that cool hip band the teens like (U2), blazers, Wu-Tang, Judy Greer and "Stab 7."  It's as good a time as any to check out our other Wes Craven films- Episode 4- "A Nightmare on Elm Street," Episode 44- "Scream" and Episode 138- "The People Under the Stairs." Starting point is 00:00:00 This is the film that doesn't end. Some people started watching it, not knowing what it was, and they'll continue watching it forever just because... because... because... because... Scraform! That was my other intro. I was just yelling, Scraform! Because they'll tryform! Screform! That was my other intro. I was just because. Scraform. That was my other intro. I was just yelling, Scraform. What, it doesn't even work visually.
Starting point is 00:00:32 Mm-mm, it's not right. Hi, we're were will fan balance, and this is a podcast about movies, horror movies, specifically. I'm Alan. I'm Katie. And we're talking about West Craven's Scraform. Scraform, his final film. Oh, God damn. Wow. Like, going out on a note. Here's the thing, like knowing that it's his last movie, I am inclined to feel, I want to feel positively towards it. You know what I mean? It's already got this thing going where you're like, man, this is the last thing he made. This is a last. This is the last. This is the last. This is the last. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I's. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. the. the. the. the. the. the. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. towards it. You know what I mean? Like it's already got this thing going where you're like, man, this is the last thing he made.
Starting point is 00:01:05 This is the last thing he did. So you want to like it. You want this to be his street fighter. I think Stephen DeSuzza would disagree, but I, it's, I keep, I keep, I keep, have you seen you've not seen any of the other screams right other than the first I've seen the yeah yeah just the first just I feel like I might have seen the second one because I knew that Buffy was in it. Yeah. But I feel like I might have seen that like at a party. Sure. A cool party. Yeah. Where they're watching Skratum where I was smoking cocaine.
Starting point is 00:01:44 That's what you do. And just, just ripping LSD hits. I think I was doing it wrong. Scrutum. Scorum. Scorform, I mean, why? Scre theme? I don't think I saw Scra theme.
Starting point is 00:02:00 Really. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. In my mind, Scritum is less like meta than screen. Just more of a straight up slasher movie. Yeah, I think there's a little bit of meta because the like the Jamie Kennedy character is still alive for part of it. So there's some of that but like it's very much just a movie. And this one is not meta at all. It just like ignores the fact that horror movies exist, which is nice. Why did he do this? I mean it feels like old man yells at cloud that shaped like horror movie. Yeah, that's true. It also felt like kind of a fuck you to people who thought that scream was to you meta. Yeah. Well the fact that this movie has two false openings. Okay, at first I like like, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th th th th th th that scream was due meta. Yeah. Well, the fact that this movie has two false openings. Okay, at first I kind of liked that,
Starting point is 00:02:49 because it was all of these like blonde, interchangeable, and sometimes dark hair, I shouldn't say blonde, but like, it was a curling iron gone wild, you know, sort of interchangeable actors, but you knew some of them too, like one was coach's daughter and... Right, they kept like increasing and recognizability. Yeah, right. Although Lucy Hale was at the beginning, but... I guess she was not that recognizable then. Lucy Hale.
Starting point is 00:03:13 She was the dark-haired woman with the good eyebrows. Okay, okay. What would I know her from now? I don't know what you would know her from? I will look. Pretty little. th you th you th fan. Never seen it. I think you might like it. Sisterhood of the Traveling Pants too. Okay, yeah. I don't know what I've seen her in, but I definitely know her. She's just one of those people that you know for some reason. Yeah, it's probably pretty little liars if I'm being honest with you. The second group are Anna Pacquin and Kristen Bell. Yeah, although I want to, it's one thing about this movie that was very upsetting to me.
Starting point is 00:03:48 Yeah. There was something wrong with the color or something where everybody looked dirty. Did you think that? They just looked like they had too much bronzer on to me. Kristen Bell looked awful. And she's a beautiful woman. It was like they rubbed glue all over her face or something. Like it looked like she moved too much you would crack? I thought she was a fake
Starting point is 00:04:09 Kristen Bell at first until she spoke. Yeah. Yeah. Why, Hayden Panateer, I think that's how you say it, also looked like she had been, had fallen into like a vat of rubber cement and then rubbed it real hard. I have so many questions about her outfit. You mean the Bustier? With a business jacket? It looked like she was going out for like a like madam's accountant. There was a period of time, I think this was past it, a period of time where Blazers were considered like evening chic. Okay. Like clubs, like for clubs.
Starting point is 00:04:47 She reminded me very much of the, I can't remember the actress's name in Urban Legends that was always rocking a blazer. Oh, Alicia Witt. Yeah, yeah, yeah. She was always looking like she was going to wear her secretary pool job. But this outfit was just like, but what if it was like sexy secretary? But also just like with low-rise jeans. Well, she was geared up to be on that Nashville show.
Starting point is 00:05:10 Oh, is that what happened to her? Yeah. Yeah. All right, be her. How she immediately fell off my radar in any way, she remember. Oh, you're in that country musical show. Bye, bye. Yeah, I did a lot of like looking up the actors in this movie and be like, why don't they work more? Why doesn't Adam Brody work more, you know?
Starting point is 00:05:32 I don't know, but he doesn't. Is that the guy from the OC? Yeah. He like never ages. How is that possible? Maybe that's why the attic. Perpetual child. Why doesn't David Arquette work more? I don't know. Oh, maybe because he's not a great actor. Oh, that's the one. He just actually is Dewey.
Starting point is 00:05:54 So this movie is Sydney Prescott returning to? Was she not in the other screams? No, she was in all of them. She's returning to Woodface, the California. And, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, then, then, and, then, then, th. And, th. And, She's returning to Woodface, wherever they live. Woodface, California. And seemingly her and Courtney Cox have like semi-beef? Yeah, I think in the two intervening movies, Courtney Cox has like profited from her story quite a bit, and there's some tension there.
Starting point is 00:06:19 But they always sort of come together to get the bad guy. Okay, all right. Kind of like they doing this one again, spoilers for this movie. I was like, were they in high school? Like, no, she was like an older, like, news reporter. Yeah. Yeah, she was in high school. Okay. And then it seems like in this movie, we have to believe that Courtney Cox to the tooks. married. To Dewey. The now sheriff. And I don't know why you can't write from anywhere because that was my impression was that you could. But she can't. But she's got extreme writers block. Right, that's true. But now Sydney is a successful author and has kind
Starting point is 00:06:57 of usurped her yet again as the star of the show. I mean these are things I understand and care about. And Allison show. I mean, these are things I understand and care about. Mm-hmm. And Allison Bree? I love Allison Bree. I think she's very versatile. She's insanely versatile. Like, the fact that she was doing community and Mad Men at the same time. And then she's like a scrappy, hapless wrestler on Glow and like, then she was also real good. You know, also that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was a that was a that was a that was that was that was that was, that was, that was, that was, that was, that that that that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. the the the the the thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the thi. the th. th. the th. th. th. th. th was real good is Emma Roberts I thought she was great which one is Emma Robbott
Starting point is 00:07:28 the ultimate villain Julia Roberts niece and she's big in the American horror story franchise oh is she yeah I think she's great okay you know you disagree I've never gone deep on the American horror story but watch the first season I was like I can't do that no in this film this film you felt she was she's fine yeah oh oh oh oh oh oh yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th th th th th th th th th th th th th the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th I th I th th th I th th thi thi thi thi thi thi the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the like I can't do that. No. In this film you felt she was fine. Yeah I mean she's as good as a shaggy from the first one. Is that shaggy? What? Shaggy? No. Shaggy? You mean? Mr. Boombastic? I think actor who was in the first one, Matthew Lillard? Isn't he shaggy? But he chews up the scene? He's a th. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Shagu. Shagu. Shagu. Shagu. Shagu. Shagu. Shagu. Shagu. Shagg. Shaggue. Shagg. Shaggue. Shagg. Shagggy? Shagggy? Shagggy? Shaggy? Shaggy? Shaggy? Shaggy? Shaggy? Shaggy? Shaggy? Shaggy? Shaggy? Shaggy? Shagg. Shagg. Shagg. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sh. Sha. Shaggggggggggggggy. Shagggy. Shagggy. Shagggy. Shagggy. Shagggy. Shagggy. Shagggy. Shagggy. Shagggy. Shagggy? the scenery. But this also is a Culkin. His role is played by a, no it's his role, it's Jamie Kennedy's role. Never mind. But he's a, there's a fucking Calkin in this movie.
Starting point is 00:08:12 It's both, he's both, thu. He's both, Jemnody and... You're right. Stoo. Stoo. You have so much scream knowledge, I love it. I've seen the first movie a lot of times. I've seen the second movie a number of times. And you've seen this movie a one time. I saw this movie over three days. Scorform.
Starting point is 00:08:34 The Culkin boy. The Culkin boy. Like he's throwing trash on your lawn from down the street. The Colkin boy was here again. Honey, call the police. He's currently in a movie about the 90s black metal scene in Norway called Lords of Chaos. He looks very appropriate for that. Yeah, that's apparently very terrible. Oh yeah.
Starting point is 00:08:57 I've not seen it yet. I gotta say I love the Colkins. Oh sure. You get excited when a Colken, who's the, not this- McCully. No, the younger one who's in Fargo and... There's another Culkin who I think is like... Kieran? Are you talking about Cairn? Yeah, I think Kieran. He's like legit really good?
Starting point is 00:09:16 Like... Are you saying the other Colquins are not really good? They're fine. He's like, like, Bacali peaked a little early. Man, the good son is real fucking scary though. Honestly, it is. And my girl has always got to rip tears on my face. Honestly. And home alone is it, to the trie to the holiday season. Macy got real mad at me the other day because I was like, what do you think?
Starting point is 00:09:40 Anna McCluskey or Anna McClumsky? Schlumsky. Schlumsky. Shlumsky. It's like, what do you think she looks like now? What do you think she's grown up to be? Exactly what you think. That's what I was my joke, because you looked exactly the same. Exactly the same. I saw her on an episode of Law in Svue. Oh good, I've heard that's a great show. I've never watched it. It's up there with the wire for me. If you want to watch her swear up a storm,
Starting point is 00:10:05 she's amazing. Great. I like it. Another person that's in this movie, speaking of the Law and Order, is Anthony Anderson, who is a cop on Law and Order. Oh, okay. Okay. And he was the other cop in thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. tho. tho. tho. thi. thi. thi. that. that's, that's, that's, that's, that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. good actor, and he's got really good comedic timing. I agree. Him and Ross Boss, which was Adam Brody's character's name.
Starting point is 00:10:31 Yeah, yeah, yeah. They're really funny together. Yeah, I liked them. I would have watched their movie. They're one of thethe end of the film. I thought Anthony Anderson's death was very upsetting and I thought it was extremely unnecessary. He gets stabbed in the head and then you got to watch him. And then he says fuck Bruce Willis. And I was like, does Wiss Craven have real life beef with Bruce Willis? Because if so I fucking love that. If not, it's a. And the. And the. And the. And the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. th. th. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. the. the. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. th. th love that. If not, it's a dumb joke. Did he say fuck Bruce Willis? Yeah because they're talking about how like he's a cool cop in movies I guess. Oh okay that's right.
Starting point is 00:11:11 And his last words before he crumples on to the sidewalk are, fuck Bruce Willis. That's hilarious. I have to believe they had, even though we lived another four years. Do you think, that's the last time he spoke to Bruce Willis though, do you think that Bruce Willis was up for the role of Freddie Krueger? Oh my god, wow, what a weird franchise that would have been. He'd so be rooting for Freddie Kruger. Would you? Because you know he would start singing at some point. Yeah, good point. Yeah, good point. So not only Sidney Beck, but the Ghostface Killer is back.
Starting point is 00:11:48 When did that get to be okay? That is already a man's name. Yeah, I don't know. I think they invented that mask for the first movie, right? Or do you know, or someone just like went to a Halloween store and bought it? They were like, well, this is a, I think that was kind of, I don't know, but Ghost Face, yeah. I mean, he has to have sued them, right? I don't know, but he can't, because he stole Tony Starks from Marvel, the Iron Man. He was going by, Ghostface Killer was going by Tony Starks for a while. That's, I thought his name was Tony Stark. The Iron Man is Tony Stark. Why can't he be Tony Stark's then? That's a the name th. That's a th. That's a th. It's a th. It's a th. It's a th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, thi. thi. thi, thi, I's, thi, I's, I's, I's, I's, I'm, I's, I's, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I's, I's, I's. I's. I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I'm th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. then? That's a name. It's very funny. That's very funny. It's like how we mess up everyone's names on purpose, because it's fucking funny.
Starting point is 00:12:28 So the ghost face is killing people over and over again in these false openings that are happening. I'm sorry, I know you want to talk about this movie, but what I want to talk about is how Wu Tang has a district now? Did you see that? What is? What is? What is? What is? What is? What is? What is? What is? What is? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? th? th? th? thi? thi? thi? thi? thi? the? the? thi? thi? th. the gh? the gh? W. the ghost? W. the ghost? W. the ghost? W. the ghost? W. W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W? W. W. W. thi? thi? thi? thi? thi? thi? thi? thi? thi? thi? thi. thi. the thi. thi. the the thi. the the thi? the gh. the gh. thi? No, what is that? It better be in Shaolin in Staten Island. Yeah, there's a corner in Staten Island. Oh, yeah. Named Wutang, uh, Wutang Klan District. Yeah. That is ridiculous.
Starting point is 00:12:54 Yeah, I love it. Me too. Yeah. I still like, I root for those dudes. Yeah. those dudes so hard like even the dead ones even especially the dead ones yeah if you get a chance watch the Wu Tang clan tiny desk concert it's very fun I bet and young dirty bastard old dirty bastards kid I didn't know that I didn't know he existed oh I think there's like 13 kids I mean I didn't know
Starting point is 00:13:20 there was one called young dirty bastard well he's basically live action role playing his own father? That's not a great idea for a person's life. Oh boy. It's real weird. Like you can see where it ends up. You know what I mean? Dirk!
Starting point is 00:13:35 Let me duck. Let me duck a busher ass. I love that. I love every line in that song. I had someone thoe thoe tha tha tha tha tha tha tha tha tha tha tha tha tha tha tha tha tho tho tho tho tho tho tho song. I had someone tell me that like they were arguing that he wasn't a genius and I was like you're just wrong. How dare you? You're a hundred percent wrong. Okay so I guess with the intro of this movie. Did you so what did you think of the many cold opens?
Starting point is 00:13:57 Which are part of I'm sorry to for anyone who didn't watch the movie they, we keepthem thinking that it's our movie, but it's actually the in-film universe, film stab. Stab, which is based on the event of the first movie. Which is how we see Jadapink at Smith get murdered at the beginning of the second movie. Oh really? Yeah. Did she get stabbed? Yeah. I was fine with the second one, but then there was a third one and I was like, man,
Starting point is 00:14:27 this can't just keep going. Well, the third one is the actual opening to the movie. Okay. Because it's the the two ladies, then Anna Pacquin and and Kirsten Bell and Kirsten Bell and her friend. Did you like when Kristen Bell stabbed that lady in the stomach? I loved it. I did too, actually. So and it's the cold open, murders again, Sydney's back in town. People are hanging the ghost face all over town.
Starting point is 00:14:55 It's like, they're like, guys gotta hurry up. Chief wants these down by lunchtime. And it's like, the tha, guys, guys, guys, guys, guys, guys tho, guys tho, guys tho, guys, guys tho, guys tho, guys. thi, guys. thi, guys. thi, guys. thi, guys. thi, guys. thi, guys. thi, guys. thi, guys. tho, guys. to. thi. thi. thi. thi. to, to, to, to. to. to. to. to. to. to. I, and it. I, and it. I. I. I. I, and it. I. I. I. I. to. I. I. I. And it. And it. And it. And it. And it. And it's. And it's. And it's. And it's, and it's, to. And it's, and it's, to. to. to. to. to. to. th. th. th. th. thi. th. to to to to to to to to to to to to. to. to. to. to, to. to.this person had that long to put them up without you noticing you know what I mean They're a shitty police horse. Yeah, oh my god everything they do is wrong Well, wasn't that the case in the first movie as well? That they were just kind of a yeah, I mean it was basically just doy I think yeah, and like a sheriff? Yeah, and like a sheriff, sheriff I do like that in this movie it seemed like? Yeah, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the they. they. they. they. they. they. they. It they. It their. It's their. It's they. It's they. It's they. It's they. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's they. It's the the the they. It's the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their their their their their the. I do like that in this movie it seemed like it was just like so many people you recognize who are just like yeah I will take a paycheck that's fine. Yeah. Or if they were just like I want to get it on the franchise. I don't know because it's 2011.
Starting point is 00:15:37 It is like. I was blown away that this movie came out in two modern times. This is recent. Yeah. Um, the note, this is hyper meta? I mean it really is. And it also is very careful to set it up to make you think everybody is the killer, but like very heavy-handedly so? They're even trying to say that Sydney is the killer at one point? I would have loved that twist though and just destroy the franchise, you know. It it th be th be th be th be th been tho tho the the the the thin the thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi the the theee theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeean. theeeeeeeeeeeeeee. thi. thist though and just destroy the franchise, you know. It would have been so much better than the twist that actually happens. I mean, yeah.
Starting point is 00:16:09 Yeah. Yeah. So murders ensue, just like in the first movie, all of, they're basically aping the murders of the first movie. And the teens don't take it seriously. Although it seems like I saw a scream one when I was a teen or And I saw this one obviously as a 35 year old woman. Yeah, but it seemed like they should have taken it more seriously I feel like in the first movie I didn't have that vibe of like why aren't the teens taking the seriously like people you know were butchered For sure. I don't know, I mean a lot of them like a bunch of people are dead. I'm, I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. theeee. th. th. the. the. the. the. th. th. th. like a bunch of people are dead. It's like, I, we live at a time of like constant tragedies in high schools. Yeah, that's true.
Starting point is 00:16:50 I can't imagine like, I don't know, like there's no, like, it doesn't feel analogous to reality on some level. Yeah. That you would like, just be fine. And then like, oh, let's have a fucking funny celebration about this yeah no I don't think so also that there would be the whole like murder franchise that springs up immediately or film franchise of the murders immediately after the murders happen yeah that's um that's a little gosh a little little gosh there are a lot of deaths a very high body count and a lot of the killers in two places at once. Right, which is explained later.
Starting point is 00:17:28 Which also like kind of isn't because the killer keeps getting away. But if there are two of them, like, how did it seems like it's harder to get away? I feel like I needed those scenes in hot fuzz where they were like, this is how it happened. Yes. So too, like everybody got away. This movie like seemed like the third ending of clue where I was like, pop, bup, bup, bup, and this is how it really happened, you know? Which I would have actually liked if they had everybody have killed somebody.
Starting point is 00:17:58 You know what I mean? Sure. Sure. Sure. There's a Mario Baba movie. I think it's called their their their their their their their. their. their their their their their their their their their their their th. th. th. thi. th. th. th. th. th. their their their thi. thi. thi. their their their their their their th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. their the. the. the. the. the. the. the. There's a Mario Baba movie. I think it's called Bay of Blood. And of course it is. It was supposed to be the inspiration for Friday the 13th. But in that movie, everybody kills somebody. I like that. And it's just like sort of builds and builds and builds. It's really ridiculous, if I'm remembering that movie correctly, anyway. The killer is implicating Sydney by putting bloody knives and stuff in her trunk on top
Starting point is 00:18:26 of her book to her poster. Allison Bree wants to capitalize on the murders? Yeah, I wasn't such a bitch. She's like, I got these high heels. She's so fucking likeable though that I was just like, is she though? She has that extremely likable face. You just want to like her. Yeah, and so Sidney fires her. Yeah. Because Sidney's just like so good and pure.
Starting point is 00:18:48 Cindy kind of sucks. Yeah, she's real. She's like an evangelical now, which is uncomfortable. Oh, out of darkness. Like self-help shit, you know. Yeah. Question for you. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:02 Teen's gonna have a YouTube poster on their wall? No. I didn't think so. No. It's, can I have a question for you? Yeah. 2011? Anybody have a YouTube poster on their wall? People my age. Um, yeah.
Starting point is 00:19:14 Yeah. How are high school kids drinking in a place that is like large enough to have a movie film film projector, screen, and like nobody notices. Yeah, yeah. And it's loud. And did you notice that Stabb? The film was directed by Robert Roger, I did, and I got very excited about that. I would rather see that movie. I love his movies. Why do you think that is?
Starting point is 00:19:37 Do you think Wes Craven's like, you're not that good? I think it was probably just some sort of weird in joke. I hope so. This will be funny. I hope so. Also here's another note I have. Why isn't Judy Greer in this movie? Why isn't Judy Greer in this entire franchise? Or is she? Is she the friend in the second one? Oh I don't know. You've seen it up. Yeah. Been a while. She's not. I have no idea why I thought she was. Okay. Because she seems seems seems like. She seems like. th. th. th. th. the th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. Judy. Judy. Judy. Judy. Judy. Judy. Judy. Judy. Judy. Judy. Judy. Judy. Judy. Judy. Judy. Judy. Judy. Judy. Judy. Judy. Judy. Judy. Judy. Judy. Judy. Judy. Judy. Judy. Judy. Judy. Judy. Judy. Judy. Judy. Judy. Judy. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. would have liked her in this. I think the the cop who has seemingly has the hots for Dewey. Oh yeah Marley Shelton. She was giving me Judy Greer vibe. She was a Judy Greer face. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Her character was completely unnecessary and the side storyline was completely unnecessary and it's like this movie's long. She was just there for Courtney Cucks to be a tick head, too. She was doing it to everybody.
Starting point is 00:20:27 Like, why, we don't need one more? I don't know, it just seemed very unnecessary. Yeah, this is not a movie that needed padding. Mm-mm, mm-mm. Or like more characters, because there are a lot of them. Did you have any death that you particularly that that thia thia th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. thi. thate. thate. thate. th. to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, that you particularly liked in this movie? I liked Kristen Bell stabbing that woman in the stomach because she talked too much. I do have a note that says her hot dogs are on the outside, but I can't remember whose insides we see. Oh, I don't remember. I think it's Olivia's, the friend that they see get murdered across the way.
Starting point is 00:21:00 Which I thought that was kind of a cool death to see your friend get murdered, like from a bedroom window to a bedroom window next door and you can't do anything about it. I thought that was good. I think I was expecting a little bit better in the way of kills in this movie. Yeah. Because the first movie had like, Rose McGowan went through the door. And get stuck in the doggy door killed, which I kind of did again. Well, they mush her with a garage door, but I kept thinking like, aren't they made now so that they won't close on something? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:29 And it just, it kind of goes back up after it hits her too. I was like, see, it doesn't actually work. Like, it's not gonna smush you and then go back up. I don't believe that he's dragging Coach's daughter around. I feel like she's like 6-3? She's a giant. She's a giant. Her limbs are so long. It's so weird to like those characters, like actors that you saw grow through her television. She was a little girl when that show started.
Starting point is 00:21:59 She's a goddamn adult by the end of it. And like in this movie they referred her as the blonde with the big big big big big big big big big big big big big big big the end of it. And like in this movie they refer to her as the blonde with the big tits. Yeah. Yeah. No, don't talk about Kwij's daughter that way. Oh, my talk to text picked up me yelling at my cat. What were you yelling at your cat? Glenn, Glenn, Glenn, is what it says. I love that you do these talk to text. Look, I'm not using my thumbs, Alan. I just want you to have a glass of rosé
Starting point is 00:22:26 and one end, your phone and the other. I love it, I'm doing it with a glass of wine in one end, and my phone in my lap, and I just keep hitting the microphone and I'll say, blah, blah, blah, blah, new paragraph. So it skips down to that reminds me. Katie. Alan. This movie's kind of a bore, kind of a bummer. We should eat Oreos while we do it. Yes! Oh, lemon Oreos.
Starting point is 00:22:50 Oh, they're my favorite Oreo. Have you not had them? Have I not had them? I don't think so. Thank you. Did you just get these for fensies? That's my favorite Oreo. Some of the flavored Oreos are a little bit much. This is a little more subtle. This is a nice summertime Oreo.
Starting point is 00:23:09 Oh yeah, this is a summer cookie. This isn't double stuff, is it? Oh, this is your single stuff. It's pretty thick. Well, you might be used to those thin Oreos now that the kids are doing on these days. I wouldn't eat a fucking thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin' thi thiou this is a this is a this is a this is a this is a ss. Oh, this is a this is a this is a this is a this is a this is a thin this is a thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thi. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh, thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin thin tooo-o-o-o-o-someau-oom-s. tho-someomeomea ss. tho-oom-oom-oom, I just expected like, I don't know, I felt like West Craven's going back to the franchise. This is the man who gave you like Johnny Depp's insane kill in Nightmare and Elm Street like... Oh God, yeah. I just thought that this would have something. And like, other than watching the friend die through the window,
Starting point is 00:23:45 I feel like I've seen before. Oh sure. It's good but it's not original. Yeah. Yeah. What about stabbing Anthony Anderson? Yeah. What about?
Starting point is 00:23:55 I feel like I've seen that at least 10 times in a Friday the 13th movie. That's fair. Not Anthony Anderson, he did a great. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It. It. It's. It. It. It. It. It. It. It's. It. It. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It's good. It's good. It's good. It's. It's. great job staggering. His, his, like, the fact that his character's name was Anthony Perkins made me really happy. Oh, I didn't notice that. Yeah, he was Officer Perkins and, yeah. Cute? No, it's not. It's fine. It's just another fucking meta thing, you know? I liked when, uh, when we were watching the original stab film and the Drew Barrymore character was played by Heather Graham? Oh yeah I think that's that happens earlier it because
Starting point is 00:24:29 the beginning of Scream 2 which I thought was when Buffy gets killed but I think that's a little later in the movie the beginning of Scream 2 the cold open is the premiere of Stab and I think you see that scene actually in that film I don't know now I'm not sure it doesn't that th you th you th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the that that the that that the thi the thi the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the. the the the the the the the the that that that that that that that that that that's th. that's the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. theeeee. that's the. that's that's that's that's that's that film. I don't know. Now I'm not sure. It doesn't actually matter though, does it? All the scream number eems. All that matters is that Jada Pinkett Smith gets stabbed through a bathroom stall wall in the head, which is a pretty good death. Yeah. Did you like the mom getting stabbed through a male slot? No. Me either. Bummed on that one. That's another actress that I really like. Oh, who is she? I? I? I, I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. th. really like. Oh, who is she? I don't know her. She was in Battlestar Galactica when they rebooted that and she's great in that TV show.
Starting point is 00:25:12 Cool. But yeah, like, yeah. Yeah. I mean, and there's like, they're doing all the meta stuff like, don't say I'll be right back and, you know, like those jokes, thuke, thua, thuke, thu and thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thus, th th th thus, thi, thus, th th, th, th, th th But then they're also like inventing new ones, like the only way you can be safe in a horror movie now is by being gay. And so there's like a lot of gay jokes that kind of fall flat. And I don't know.
Starting point is 00:25:35 I'm gay. If that helps, yeah. Well, are you? I mean, is that a, is that a thing? I think there, it was like a joke, I think it was a joke about, I don't know. Yeah. Did gay people get killed in horror movies? I don't know, I didn't know, like, I assume, I mean. I feel like we should know. We should get the joke. The joke should be for us. I'm like, is it like a reference to, like it, Nightmare Nelm Street 3?
Starting point is 00:26:07 That's like, has a lot of queer overtones? I can't remember at this point, but like... It's not Dream Child, is it? That was five, right? I don't know. I don't know. It was a nightmare. That movie will live in Infamy as your baby announcement?
Starting point is 00:26:23 I tho. I googled horror movies about pregnancy and that was like that's, that's, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thaton, thi, thi, thi, has like, has like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, has like, has like, has like, has like, has like, has like, has like, has like, has like, thi? That's thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi? Like, thi? Like, thi? Like, thi? Like, thi? Like, thi? Like, thi? Like, thi, I googled horror movies about pregnancy and that was like the second thing that came up. The first one was Rosemary's baby and I was like, fuck we already did that one. Gotta do this. There are a lot of horror movies about pregnancy. I should have selected another. Um, yeah, I just like, I feel like it's, the metaa-ness is just shit-talking the Saw franchise. Yeah, which is okay. I'm here for that. But after a while, like, they just keep shit-talking to the Saul franchise.
Starting point is 00:26:52 It's like, yeah, no, we all agree. They're not good. They're not good. Um, Eli Roth. That's not the hostile. Never mind. thanks. told made the song movies James won oh that's right yeah yeah yeah who has also gone on to do the not good conjuring movies and right he's probably a Brazilian era though oh yeah he just did a aqua man that's a James Wan joint is it yeah yeah I bet that made a grisilion dollars I'm sure all them all them comic book movies make all the guy with the eyebrow yeah yeah yeah yeah that the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the brow. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Whatever. Jason Momoa? If you say so. He's a very attractive gentleman. I don't know. No, yeah, it's clearly. He's like, objectively hot. Married to Lisa Bonet. Just like. Really? Oh my god, I bet they're, do they have children? Yeah, they're fucking
Starting point is 00:27:38 gorgeous. Oh, I bet they're the most beautiful people on the planet. Lisa Bonet is just so beautiful. Yeah, for sure. I mean the child that she had with, uh, why can I think of, are you gonna go my way? Lenny Kravitz? Yeah. It's beautiful. Yeah. Yeah. I only have ugly children. That's not true. Oh my god. I'm just kidding. I'm just kidding. It's like this movie, it's like this movie, 70% of the way through just falls apart too. Everyone's just screaming, go to Kirby's house, like even the cops, like we got to get to Kirby's house. Like how the fuck, like, first of all, you don't even address? Like, does everybody just know where Kirby lives? Oh, 329 Whispering Lane? Is that what it is?
Starting point is 00:28:20 Is that a reference or something? That's what I was like, and I wrote it tell, because I'm like, that's gotta be a reference. Do you Google it? No, of course not. Yeah, fuck it. And then it sort of spirals into like a commentary on youth today and their obsession with fame and social media and the horrors of everything being like documented. And it's just like, like what are you trying to say? Again, that felt like Old Man yells at teens. Yes, this is a very old man yells at movie. You know absolutely right about that.
Starting point is 00:28:51 Even though it's not, it's not written by West Craven, but it's like. Kevin Williamson here at the first one, so, yeah. Good as sorry, I'm eating another cookie. They're good right? Oh my God. Those lemons are delicious this. We're gonna meet them next week too. That's meta. That's meta for you and me. This movie also has like I love the trope of unlikely friendships in horror movies because it's just sort of like an 80s thing of like well why wouldn't the Jock and the Punk Rocker hang out together and And this movie, like, I don't see Kirby and, and Jill, like, hanging out ever.
Starting point is 00:29:32 I think the weird thing about Kirby is she's supposed to be like a hot girl who likes horror movies and like where do they exist? thate, they're everywhere. And West Graven, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, the, th, the, the, the, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the, the, the, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th, th. th. th. thi, thi, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. th. th. th. th They're everywhere. And West Carvin, like you've been to conventions, right? I don't think you need to be rude about it. But also like, and then another weird like leg of this movie is that, so Jill and the Culkin Boy are the killers because they've been spurned by their like people that they're attracted to slash significant others. But then she like goes for it and he still kills her. He says it's too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. th. their. th. th. their. their. their. their. Like, their. Yeah. Yeah. Like, their. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. their. Like, their. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I. I. Yeah. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Like. Like. Like. Like. Like. Like. Like. Like. Like. Like. Like. Like. Like. Like. Like. Like. Like. Like. Like. Like. Like. Like. Like. Like. Like. Like. Like. Like. Like, the. Like, the. Like, the. Like, th. Like, th. Like, th. Like, th. Like, the. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. I. her he says it's too late. Why is it too? When he when he kills Kirby. Yeah why does he kill Kirby? Because he had to because he's now that can only be two but then they can only be one and... I don't like it. It just seems it seems very slapdash. Yeah it was like they made this movie in the order like that the scenes were going to be aired and then they
Starting point is 00:30:28 were got to like they're like oh and show we didn't write the end. Somebody gonna who's gonna be the bad guy though? Like every day they would just write the movie like okay we'll fight out tomorrow. Mm-hmm. Choose your own adventure of filmmaking. I think my favorite act of violence in this movie is when Jill shoots her boyfriend in the dick. Yeah, that was upsetting shooting someone in the dick. Yeah, because that dude definitely had a squib in his pants because it blew out when we shot him. Oh my god. That's also the scene where she says sick is the new sane which like I don't know what that means. I don't know what that means, Jill. I don't know what that means.
Starting point is 00:31:06 I think that's a disturbed album. Oh, da da da da da da da da. I want to say a few more things about Jill. Please. She's like talking at the beginning about how she's like barely knows Sidney's cousin. Yeah, and then at the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th th. It th. It's thi thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's, thi, thi, thi, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thin, thin, thin, tho, tho, tho, tho, thoo, tho, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi,'s cousin. She's like, I don't really know her. Yeah. So like, it seems like they haven't discussed her very much, you know? Yeah. But then at the end of the movie, she's like, do you know what it's like being your cousin?
Starting point is 00:31:29 It's just Sidney this, Sydney, that. Like, but it isn't. But you don't know her. Oh, yeah. What's her name? You love her, Mariah Carey. Am I wrong? Am I wrong? No. I was going to say Mimi, but then I was like... That would have got it.
Starting point is 00:31:51 Why can I pull Mimi, but not her actual fucking name? Well, yeah, like in retrospect was that just like, I don't know her. I don't think so. I think they wrote it and we're like, thau, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, that, that, that, tho, tho, think they just didn't get it right. I think they like wrote it and were like, that's fine. That's my other favorite thing in this movie is that Jill has to set herself up for being having her ass kicked like they did in the first movie. Yes. So she doesn't have anybody to stab her so she sabs herself by running into a wall and then running face first into a picture frame. And then wrestling style, throwing herself backwards through a glass table,
Starting point is 00:32:30 and I was like, all right, I'm kind of into how fucking ridiculous this is. Yeah, I liked that scene a lot. I think that was probably the best scene of the movie was her just screaming and doing terrible things to herself. Like, so we've gotten this far. we've gotten till Jill has set it that that that that tha tha tha tho, th've gotten this far, we've gotten until Jill has set it up so it looks like she's killed Sydney, but it looks like her boyfriend, the Colken boy did it. No, no, no, it looks like her boyfriend did it, her actual boyfriend. I thought the Colgan boy got the knife and the actual boyfriend got the gun.
Starting point is 00:32:59 Oh, I get it. She was setting both of them. Oh my arms. They were the stew and the two. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, th, th, the the the the the the the the, the th. the th. the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy boy, the boy, the boy, the boy, the boy, the boy, the boy. the boy. the boy. the boy. the boy. the boy. the boy. the boy. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the thi. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the tholkk, the, the, the the the the the the the tho-s, the the stew and the two. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Because she wants to be the sole survivor. Yeah, she wants to be the Sydney. A sole survivor, yeah. Uh, it wasn't. There's like no way it was ever going to work. No, of course not. But, so we've gotten this far and bedpan beatings in this movie. Have you ever seen a metal bedpan in a hospital?
Starting point is 00:33:27 Sure. Oh really? I've never seen that. Yeah. Okay, fine. Do you only get a fancy porcelain bedpan? No, plastic? No, plastic. Well, they are just, yeah, yeah. I guess they are just like plastic now, but yeah, back in the's how they are. So, when somebody stabs Courtney Cox, it's fine, she doesn't die. She'll never die, except their love dead.
Starting point is 00:33:51 Oh, why you bring that up now? Well, because there's a side plot in this movie where their marriage is on the rocks, and I was like, what, eh? But I think they had a very amicable divorce and they co-parent really well together. So wait, they got together in the first screen, right? That's how they, yeah, I think that was the beginning of their love. And in the movie, those two characters get together. Yeah, it threw out the franchise together. So in the fourth movie, when their relationship was on the rocks? Yeah, it's sad. It's another another. It's called called called called called called called called called called called called. It's a a a their. It's a their relationship. It's a their relationship. It's a their relationship. It's a their relationship. It's a their relationship. It's a their relationship. It's a their relationship. It's a their relationship. It's a their relationship. their relationship. It's a their relationship. It's a their relationship. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. Starting point is 00:34:25 It's another level of meta. Maybe they got divorced, like, just to prove this movie right, I don't know. They were supposed to be another one that West Craven passed away where they got back together. No. Now they're just married to other people. So, Jill wakes up in the hospital. And she's, and Dewey is like, you're gonna be fine. Is he really that bad? I feel like I've not seen him in many other things. I've never thought him as being, like, being especially bad before.
Starting point is 00:34:56 He's just kind of campy or something. Sure, he's a comedic actor. But this was like, you don't, I don't think you want to be here. His face was weird too. He was doing a weird face the whole time where it was like, he was squinting, but also like pulling up the corners of his mouth to show his teeth all the time. I think that was supposed to be like, I'm dumb. I'm trying to- Thisthis character like what the fuck was I doing in the last movie. Every morning Courtney Cox, then Arquette slaps him across the face twice and it's like be Dewey! So he tells Jill that she's gonna be fine that Sydney is in a coma or something but she should
Starting point is 00:35:37 be wakened up and everything's gonna be fine. So Jill maybe was like oh I have to go kill her now. And she wakes up like that moment. And she th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to to to to to th. to th. to th. th. to th. th. th. thi. to thi. to thi. thi. to thi. thi. to th. thi. the the thi. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the. te. te. tell. tell. tell. tell. tell. tell. tell. tell. tell. tell. tell. tell. tell. the. I have to go kill her now. And she wakes up like that moment and is immediately, she wakes up from a coma, a coma? Does he say a coma? Yeah, something like that. It's like a momentary coma. I feel like I have those like mid-afternoon every day. Oh, God, I wish. I'm just unconscious. I don't know. She's try to choke her to death. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. th. th. th. to. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. to. to. to. to. to. to. to thi. the the thi. thi. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the moment. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like, to kill her. I don't remember how.
Starting point is 00:36:06 Oh, she's trying to choke her to death. How did you think that was going to fly? I don't know, and why not smother her with a pillow? There won't be any finger prints on her god-name neck. Yeah. For a person who thought all of this thrown, She did not hide all of his crimes? Yeah, and like all she had to do was check to see that Sydney was dead before she Started stabbing herself and throwing herself into glass things and she doesn't do it. So I don't know go fuck yourself. Go that is that I thought about that and I was like oh, that's kind of like flip in the don't check to see if the murder is dead. Yeah. th. th. th. th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thin. thin. thin. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. to to to that's to to that's that's to that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thin. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. that's kind thi. thi. thi. that's kind that's kind to to to to to to to that's that's thi. thi. thi. to see if the murderer is dead. Don't check to see if your victims did.
Starting point is 00:36:45 That's pretty meta. Two things about that. Go. One, pulling out an IV made me really nauseated. Oh really? Yeah. And two, kneeling Sidney and her like wounds that had just been stitched.
Starting point is 00:36:56 Over and over. Made me really nauseated. Until she said, how are those stitches? And I was like, you don't have to say that. I can see, I'm watching the fucking movie. Show Don't Tell, show don't tell. Honestly. Yeah, she beats up Dewey with a bedpan. She is shooting at Courtney Cox or is gonna shoot Courtney Cox? Yeah, she shoots, you thinks she shoots the cop, I guess. It turns like she's wearing a bulletproof vest and when she pops up again alive, you're like, who fucking cares?
Starting point is 00:37:26 I definitely thought that was a headshot too when she hit her. Yeah, I think it was a mistake. You know, it just occurred to me. Go. Is in the first movie, we're told that Sydney's mother has been murdered. That's sort of like the whole, the whole, the whole, the whole, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. I, th. I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. Yeah, I was. Yeah, I was, I was. Yeah, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was. Yeah, I was, I'm. Yeah, I'm. Yeah, I'm. Yeah, I'm. Yeah, I think. Yeah, I think. Yeah, I think. Yeah, I think. Yeah, I think. Yeah, I think. Yeah, I think. I think. Yeah, I think. Yeah, I'm. I'm. Yeah, I'm just her and her dad, and she was like no other family. But her fucking aunt, who cares deeply about her, lived down the street? Like, why, that's a really bad setup. It didn't, this person, this woman, that didn't need to be her cousin. Right. She could have just wanted to be Sydney. She didn't even have to do the whole growing up. It was all Sydneyney that. Like, you don't... Because it would have been in that town anyway. Right. Everybody, it seems like, was very into...
Starting point is 00:38:06 Yeah, Woodface was all about them. Woodface murders. In the stab franchise. And, yeah, so that's what she killed her own mother so that she could be more like Sydney, which is ridiculous. Yeah, she's great. And her mom says that really really this this this this this this this this this this this th is this thi this this is this is thi this is this is thi this is thi this is this is thi this is thi, this is this is thi, this is this is really this is this is a thi, this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is this is thi, thus. thi, thi, thi, thi, this is thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, this is a thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. thi. thiii. thiiiiiiiiii. this is thiii. this is thi. this is thi. thi. this is th great. And her mom says that really sad thing like, I lost my sister, I have scars, no one asks me about my scars. Because they're on the inside, mom. Yeah. What? It's so sad. Whatever. I was also surprised that Jill would do so many things to mess up her face if she wanted to be famous, she's like scratching it with her, with her boyfriend's, her dead ex-boyfriend's nails. Oh, so gross. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. th. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi. thi. thi. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I th. Yeah. Yeah. I th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah. th. th. th. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. th. th. thi. th. th. th. th. th. Oh so gross. Yeah. And so to stop her Sydney turns on the defibrillator and
Starting point is 00:38:53 defibrilates her goddamn head. I actually kind of like that. Yeah. She's like I have one word to say clear. Which is also what you say at the end of podcasts if you recall from Tusk. Our favorite movie, Tusk. Ugh. I'm glad I'd never have to watch that movie. Oh my god, if someone tried to make me watch Tusk, I wouldn't watch Tusk if you paid me. How much?
Starting point is 00:39:17 How much would you have? Yeah, $6,000. Oh, yeah. So, she defibrilates her head and then Courtney Cox and Sidney are like, oh man, I hope everything's okay, yeah I'm gonna be okay, everything's okay. And Jill pops the fuck back up and Sidney shoots her in the fucking head. Yeah, I liked that though. Even though it's also very meta of the like the killer's always going to pop up in the last frame. Yeah, yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:45 And then, no, but the last last bit of the movie is all the reporters outside being like, Jill Roberts, the survivor, like, yeah, yeah. Why do we care if she got her 15 minutes? She got her fam? Why do I care though? She got her? I don't know? No, no. Okay, fine. Yeah, that felt like it was like supposed to be like, ooh, but it was like, huh? Yeah, I didn't feel like remorse or wistfulness or like, I don't know, I didn't feel anything.
Starting point is 00:40:13 Yeah. Mm-mm. Mm-mm. Katie. Alan. Do you want to refate this movie? Go to the refating face? Sure. You go first. I'm gonna eat this Oreo while you do it. Okay, I'll think of something long enough to say that
Starting point is 00:40:34 will allow you to consume an entire Oreo. Oh this movie is so bad. Oh it's so bad and it's like, like I said, you want to like it because West Craven didn't do anything else after this. This was the last thing he did. and it's so so so so so so so so so so so so so. It's so so. Oh it's so so th it's so bad. Oh it's so bad. It's so bad. It's so bad. It's so bad. Oh it's so bad. to so bad. to to to th so bad. to th to th to to to to to to to to to to to to to go to go to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. the the the the the the the the the. the the. the. the. thi. to to like it because West Craven didn't do anything else after this this was the last thing he did and it's so bad and it has so many like actors you're happy to see it's a phenomenal cast and there none of them are doing anything worthwhile except maybe Anthony Anderson yeah but they're also not like doing it like other than maybe Dewey nobody's doing it wrong yeah they're not doing a bad I guess they don't they don't they don't they don't they don't they don't they don't they don't they don't they don't they don't they don't they don't they don't they don't they don't they don't they don't they don't they they they they they they they they they they they don't they're not they're not not not they they they they they they they they th I I I th I th I th I th I th I th I their their their their their their their their their their their their their their they. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. Yeah, they're not doing a bad. I guess they don't have much to work with.
Starting point is 00:41:08 Yeah. I'm gonna give it a four for squirm. It's a squirm. You? So this is the movie that I had previously thought Scream was. This is the movie that's so meta that it's up its own ass and can't actually function as a film. Which you were pleasantly surprised when we actually watched Scream that it was not that way. No and I enjoyed it. I think I gave it somewhere in the seven or twenty thirty three, yeah.
Starting point is 00:41:40 Yeah, you loved it. You were like, oh my god. Oh my god. You loved it. You that. You were. You were. You were that. You were that. You were that. You were that. Oh, my God. But I kind of want to watch the, the intervening other two movies now to see like, if they're also as bad as this. Scratum is not. Okay. It is not that bad. Screthree? I don't know. I'm not sure that I've seen it. It's possible that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I have. that I have. that I have. that I have. that I that that that th. th. that that. that. tho. th. th. th. th. tho. th. tho. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. thee. the. Starting point is 00:42:08 Screw tom is okay, I think. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, it's on a college campus, which I feel like is always a good horror setting. Okay. Like urban legends. give this a three. Yeah. It's too fucking long. It's almost two hours long. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:42:26 And every time you think it's gonna end, it doesn't. You're just like every time you think it's gonna start, it doesn't. Yeah. I want to read the email that I sent you while I was watching it, if that's okay. Please. I feel bad about Scream four. And I deserve to feel to feel to feel to feel to feel to feel to feel to feel to feel to feel to feel to feel to go. Oh my God. And I deserve to feel bad because this was my fault. You don't know. I'm Wes Craven.
Starting point is 00:42:49 I'm West Craven's daughter. Tess Craven? Yeah. I'm just a live-action role playing my dad. I'm actually called Young West Craven. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Well, let's not do that again. Nope. No we're not going to do that ever again. We didn't. We generally don't do that though do we? Not yet. Return of
Starting point is 00:43:14 the living dead we will. That'll be our do over. Katie. Alan. Speaking of speaking of reading emails, yeah can I take you to a little place I'll like to call mail bag? Mail bag. This is an email from Zacey. What a great name. Like Stacy, but with a Z. That's pretty great. And how many times in her life do you think she's had to say that? Every time. Hi Katie and Alan. That's the two of us. Hi Zazy. Listen. Katie's gonna make fun of me in a minute if she reads, here's this. But I have listened to every episode at least twice. I make shit. I do a lot of time sewing and crocheting and pouring resin,
Starting point is 00:43:55 so I have a lot of time to listen. Are all those activities involved in one thing being made? Man, I hope so, because it'll be rad. I know. You guys are the perfect podcast companion when I want to be entertained and not bummed out what I listen to true crime and cult stuff. Dude, me too.
Starting point is 00:44:12 Yeah, for sure. I can't even fuck with that shit anymore. I love it, and then I just feel so sad. Yeah. I just wanted to say thank you so freaking much. Thank you to to to to to th you th you th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. to to to to to to to to thi. thi. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the. the. te. try. try. try. thau. true. true. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. Thank you for using that language. Yeah, we don't curse. Fuck no. For brightening my days. I cannot imagine life without horror movies and your takes on them are always so funny. True. Yeah, I'm with her. My husband and I now only refer to Stephen King by his true name, Stephen Kang. And Rob Zombie will forever be Rab Zambi in our house.
Starting point is 00:44:45 Sorry, Rab Zambi. Keep up all the amazing work forever, okay? That's a big ask, forever? Yeah, it's a long time. We're gonna be ghosts doing this. Oh, please God, no. Again, thanks. Love the show. You guys are the best. Zacey. Oh, thank you, Zacey. And I want to get out in front of something here, which is the Katie's going to make fun of me for having listened a bunch of times. Yeah. That says
Starting point is 00:45:08 more about me than it does about you guys. Because I, despite all of the, you know, like success and positive feedback we've had from this show which... You can't believe anyone likes me? No, you know what I mean. So, when I make fun of people for listening to so many episodes so quickly or multiple times, it's literally about my own insecurities. So, I will be sending you all a check that I would normally send in my therapist. We were literally in a room last night for the live Goul-on-Goul show. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:45:48 Thank you so much for having us and happy anniversary Goul on Goul. HBD. To your love. Oh, and there were people wearing our t-shirt at our show. Yeah. I know. It's crazy. People like us.
Starting point is 00:46:02 Get out of here with that. You know what I mean? It's about me, it's not about them. You guys are wonderful. Thank you so much and thank you, Zacey, you are also wonderful. And I really want to know what you're pouring resin for because I hope it's miniatures.
