Werewolf Ambulance: A Horror Movie Comedy Podcast - Episode 230- Invasion of the Body Snatchers (1979)

Episode Date: May 27, 2019

This week we're talking about some of the favorite actors of a certain co-host of Werewolf Ambulance: Jeff Goldblum and Donald Sutherland in the 1979 sci-fi/horror film remake "Invasion of the Body Sn...atchers." Special topics for your consideration include a money-making enterprise to capitalize on our punk rock fame, the new mascot of Werewolf Ambulance (spoilers: it's Art Hindle), Leonard Nimoy's accessory choices, the wisdom to never trust an old guy with weed and Santa: the ultimate snitch. If you can't get enough Goldblum (and who could?), check out Episode 103- "The Fly" and Episode 146- "The Sentinel." Is Donald Sutherland more your jam? Then you may like Episode 47- "Don't Look Now." Have you seen this one? Starting point is 00:00:00 Hey Katie. I have a business proposition for you. I recently found out that some of the emo bands that I was in in the 90s have become somewhat collectible for their records, specifically one band that a record that we put out as sold for as much as $100. What? And recently I saw you perform in your classic band, the Maxie Pats in front of a audience full of people that were singing along and dancing and it was fantastic.
Starting point is 00:00:40 Thank you. It was fun. I feel like we need to capitalize on this. Oh, I'd love to. On our punk rock fame. tha fame. tha fame tha tha tha tha tha th. th. th. th. thoooooooo thoo that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that we that we that we that we that we that we that we that we that we that we that we that we that we that we that we that we that we that we that we that we that we that we that we that we that we that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. tho. tho. thooo. thoooooo. thooooooooo. th. that thooo. that that that that that that that that that that that to capitalize on this. Oh, I'd love to on our Punk Rock Fame. Yes. I don't know how to do it Because I was in emo bands and like apparently 90s emo is still a thing that kids care about? Is it like us listening to Led Zeppelin? I suppose so yeah, yeah, but like if Led Zeppelin was crying about their dad and wearing sweater vests. Instead of just crying about Lord of the Rings. Yeah, and having huge wangs in their tight pants. Yeah, I don't remember any huge wangs and tight pants back in the day. No, a lot of tape's though to be fair. Like I said, it was a little later. Yeah, a lot of Jenko's in my day. Yeah, that's in th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah. th. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the the the the the th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. that's, yeah. So yeah, let's think about how to monetize our punk rock fame. What was the record?
Starting point is 00:01:30 This band I was in, I had some classically named bands. This was Eldridge Anaset 7-inch. I'm sorry, Elkwuk-what? Eldritch Aniseet? It was like a female-fronted, kind of pompy Scrimo band. That sounds great. Eh. I've been very proud of it. 100 bucks are great. It was more funny that a French blog was mentioned to my band, Numbers Are Neutral.
Starting point is 00:01:53 What does that mean, though? What did you mean by that? I don't know. I was in a band called Miles to Failure. What does that they did on mice when they had a ball in them. They would put them on a record player and see how far they would go before they failed. Their miles to failure? Mice? Like, a mouse for your computer.
Starting point is 00:02:12 Oh, a computer mouse? I did not. I was very... You know what mice used to have ball track balls inside? So you could roll them around to capitalize on my newfound 90s emo fame. I'm really interested in how to do that. So if you guys are marketers out there, you let us know. I mean, I'm willing to cut my mustache off again.
Starting point is 00:02:32 I don't think that's a great look for you, but okay. I mean, that was my beard for 15 years. Just beard. No stash. B. thu. Chubby Abe Lincoln coming at you. Toby A. Lincoln in a ringer t-shirt. Let's do this. Oh my God, that's so 1997. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:51 Yeah. That's when I was crying about my dad and people want to buy those records now. Yeah. Great. So are we famous yet or no? I think it panned out. I think if my calculations are right, in 20 years people will be selling this episode of the podcast for $100. Yeah, I look forward to that. For Christ's sake, what are we talking about? Oddly, invasion of the body snatchers?
Starting point is 00:03:14 The 1978 remake? Yeah. Yeah, I don't know. Well, I'm trying to tie it in. We're doing this movie. I mean, it's a, it's thahahahahahahahahahahahah, it's tha, it's thi, it's thi, it's thi, it's thi, it's thi, it's thi, it's fine, it's fine, it's fine, it's thi, thi, thi, thi. thi. thi, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. thi, thi. thi. thi, thi, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. to to to thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. mean it's a it's a it's like a throwback It's a remake It's got hunky Donald Tuttle and didn't it oh and hunky jubloom and hunky a lot of nimo Hey, is his art Hindle been on our podcast more than any other actor? I don't I think this is his fourth. I thought it was a third is black Christmas? Yes Yes. The brood. Yes, um. Yes, the the the the the brood. Yes, th. the th. th. th. the th. th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Starting point is 00:03:46 Yes. The Brute. Yes. This. And that weird, uh, a triangle cult movie. He's in the void. Yeah, that's the one. Yeah. I think between him and Dick Miller, it might be neck and neck at four. Yeah. I can't think of anyone else we've had a scene four times. No. Mm-mm. Mm-mm. So that's weird that he's our mascot. I think it's like him and like Bill Mosley or like this. Yeah. And just random ass roles. That's, oh man, fucking Art Hindle. What a guy. I liked every one of the, well, I didn't like the void. I don't remember. The void was fine. The void was fine. The void was fine. The void was fine. The th. It was fine. It was fine. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. tho' tho' tho' tho' tho' tho' tho' thi. thi. tho' tho' tho' th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. that's like, that's like thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. It was fine. It was fine. The rest of those movies are, m-uh-ah though. Yeah. Yeah, he's in some fucking phenomenal movies.
Starting point is 00:04:29 He did? I don't know. Who knows about art? Who knows about art? Who knows? Who knows? I know he looks good. toobey. collar. Yeah, who doesn't? Me. I feel like you'd look fantastic and that's just a silly
Starting point is 00:04:46 look. He is 70 years old and still alive. I'm happy to hear that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Is you have a lot of hair still? Oh yeah, yeah. I feel like that hair wasn't going anywhere? No. You're not going to be able to get rid of that easily. I guess the void was pretty recent, huh? Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Hand, handle. Hand, handle. Hand, handle. Hand, handle. Hand, handle. Hand, handle. Hand, handle. Hand, handle. Hand, handle. Hand, handle. Hand. Hand. Hand, handle. Hand, handle. Hand, handle. Handle. Hand, handle. Hand, handle. Yeah, handle. Yeah, handle. Yeah, h. Yeah, h. Yeah, h. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, h. Yeah, h. Yeah, h. Yeah, h. Yeah, h. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeahel got in here. It's... It's... So, this is a movie about when your friends grow up? I guess this is growing up? Is that what you're saying? Is this how we're tying it together? I don't know, but...
Starting point is 00:05:23 What do you mean? Who do you mean when your friends grow up? Oh, I think this movie is all about hippies, aging out of being hippies and becoming yuppies. Whoa! Yeah, I think it's all, it's the flip-flop of the 1950s, which is all about communism. Communism is the big threat that's taking everybody over. And this one is the inverse, we're all like, our squad that we're, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, a the the the the they. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. the th. the the the the the the the the the the inverse where all like our squad that we're like feeling are the people who are like still holding on to their weird hippie people who own a mud bath spa. Yeah and and and have their conspiracy theories about everything and are like oh the government's doing this everyone's coming to
Starting point is 00:05:58 get you. Yeah and the people who are like no man just just chill out it's the first to go, yeah. Yeah, fucking Art Hindle. Damn. Yeah. He sprung that on me at the beginning of the episode. That's my take on what's going on in this movie. That's fine, because I didn't have any takes on what was going on in the movie, other than, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, hey, that, that, that, that, th. He, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he. He, he. He, he. He, he, he, he. He, he, he, he, he. He. He, he, he, he, he. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He, he, he, he, he, he, he, he. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He, he, he, he, he, he, he, he, he's. He's. He's. He's. He's, he's that, he's that, he's that that that that that that that? I had to rewind it and look, it was fucking Robert Duval. Of course it was.
Starting point is 00:06:28 Has Robert Duval our most? He's been in several episodes. Can you imagine seeing Robert Duval and not recognizing Robert Duval? No. No. What is Robert Duval doing there? I don't know. How did you feel about the aliens in the very beginning of the movie? What do you mean? I don't remember them? The flowers? No, at the very beginning you're on a different planet and there's like the fluffy things that are like getting blown up on the space like jet stream? I literally don't remember that. Oh, really? I don't remember that. Oh, I. I. I. I. I the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. I th. I the thea. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the jet stream and then land on earth and turn into goop and then turn into the flowers.
Starting point is 00:07:06 Where the fuck was I? I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I like that.
Starting point is 00:07:14 Yeah. I like that. . They, they, they, they, they, they, they. they're. they. they. they. they. they. they. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. tho. tho. th. tho. I. I. I'm. I'm. I don't. I don't. I don't. I don't. I don't. I don't. I don't. I don't. I don't. I don't. I don't. I don't. I don't. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I don't. I. I don't. I don't. I don't. I don't. I don't. I don't. I don't. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. I don't. I don't. I don't. I don't. I don'ts from outer space. I love them. I know. Yeah. This is a, this is in like prime, amazing science fiction, horror, like, you've got this movie, they've got alien. A couple years later you're going to have all like the schlocky 80s, killer clowns and all that stuff going to come out in a couple years, like so much good
Starting point is 00:07:45 sci-fiction horror type stuff. And this is like a bevy of great actors. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. So I don't know that I've ever actually seen the 1950s original of this. Oh, it's great. Is it? Is it worth watching? Oh, yeah, it's like an hour and 20 minutes long, it's a 20 It's like a really long Twilight Zone episode. Okay. Yeah, it's really good. So you will not recognize Kevin McCarthy
Starting point is 00:08:09 is the guy who runs up to their car and is screaming they're coming. They're coming for you. And that's how the first movie, the original ends with him like screaming, running mad on the streets. Oh, that's awesome. Yeah, for sure. Like it's such a like, a nice little like, oh, you know, you're into this. You're stoked about this. And if you don't know, you didn't miss anything. Yeah. Just a crazy man being crazy. And then getting hit by car.
Starting point is 00:08:33 And nobody cares. Yeah. So this movie follows Donald Sutherland, Matthew something, who is a Department of Health Inspector. It's a cool job. Eat the caper. Yeah. It's a rat turd. Then he puts that rat tuard in a jar and brings it back to the office. That's his rat tuard now. That's his rat turd now. And he is like deeply in love with his employee, Elizabeth. Yeah I couldn't figure out what their work relationship. Is she just like the lab tech? I think she's a lab tech. I think she's a lab tech. I think she's both DTF from the jump. Yeah, but you can tell there's some tension but like you know she's got she's in this long-term relationship with Art Hendel
Starting point is 00:09:18 who is a dentist who loves the Golden State Warriors. Who doesn't? I mean th. I then then then th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I thi th. I thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. I thi thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are they are thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I the. I theat. I theat. I theat. I theat. I theat. I theat. I theat. I thi. I thi. I thi. I? I mean, I think most people in California. Sure. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. They might now because of Steph Curry, but I don't think, I think for many years they didn't. Uh, what? Steph Curry? He dribbles real good.
Starting point is 00:09:35 And then he shoots real good. Question. Yeah. Does he ever fake the. I think he's seen it. I need to know that. Yeah, yeah. But like he's like making her dinner. I wish in 1970s Donald Sutherland would make me dinner. Oh yeah, yeah, like a nice little stir fry whatever he was whipping up. Did you see there's like one giant hunk are you doing with that? That's just for Donald Soto, that's a little treat for him. You know what, I gotta say, I don't like green peppers.
Starting point is 00:10:06 I think they ruin, I think they ruin the flavor of things. I like a red, an orange, a yellow, but green peppers are just, they have no flavor. They have no flavor at all. What you're tauii????. they're just like a water carrying vehicle. Oh, that's so strange. Yeah, I don't think they have any flavor at all. They ruin things. Huh. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:26 That's where I am with green peppers. The more you know, green peppers. Yeah. And just in recent years, I was like, you know, I don't like these. I should stop eating them. Yeah. Yeah, I'm just still still the same. I'm just. the same. the same. the same. the same. the same. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that's. that's. that's. that's that's that's. the. that's that's that's that's that's that's th. that's. that's. th. th. th. th. th. I th. th. th. th. th. th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I'm. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. that's where. that's where. that's where. that's where. that's where I the. that's where I'm the. the. the. the. I the. are they? Literally, what are they? I think they're just the thing to fill out your Chinese food. Just crunchy? They're just crunchy.
Starting point is 00:10:48 Yeah. That doesn't feel good in my mouth. I don't like that. Oh, it feels like you're biting into something you shouldn't. Yeah, like whatever your food came packed and ended up in your food. Yes. And that's's a nut. What is a water chestnut? What is it?
Starting point is 00:11:06 I'm very upset. What are you water chestnut? Should we ask Google? No, I don't want Google to tell me anything right now. I'm mad at Google. Okay, fine. Uh-huh. I love the effect of when the goop, like space alien goop hits the GOOP, like space alien GOOP hits the leaves, and there's that one shot where it's spreading out on a leaf.
Starting point is 00:11:27 Yeah. But I'm like, how did you do that? Is that reversed or something? It has to be. I don't know how else you would make that work. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Although, when I took like pre-giving birth classes, they suggested, because I went to,
Starting point is 00:11:45 you know, some midwives of some woo-wo shit. Got a little woo for me when they suggested watching videos of, like, time-lapse videos of flowers opening like that to open your body. When I was watching this, I remembered it and was like, ah, fuck. But they look great in this movie. Sure. So the baddies are aliens, you, you, you, thiiiiiiwaves, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, you are, thi, you are, you are, thi, you are, you are, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, tho, tho, tho, tho, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. We thi, thi. But they look great in this movie. Sure. So the baddies are aliens who are basically being spread through this pod thing.
Starting point is 00:12:10 It's a little confusing. Yeah, yeah. These pods are the result of these flowers. If you touch the flower, you get potted. Although sometimes they seem to be just growing on their own. Oh, yeah, yeah, I guess so. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they they they they they th. th. they th. the, thi. that. tho, they they thoes are thoes are thoes are thoes are thoes are thoes are thoes are thoes are th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. thee. theeeeat. thea. theea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea on their own. Oh yeah, yeah, I guess so. Yeah, they become pods and then you, they have to touch you with their little tenderly. But then like sometimes, and then they make a duplicate of you. Yeah. And you can also kill your duplicate and that's okay.
Starting point is 00:12:38 And sometimes if you wake up and you don't have a duplicate anymore, that was very confusing. You wake up and beat it to death with a shovel or whatever you did. That was so brutal. That was so unexpectedly brutal. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I can't like, I was like, what are these space people doing?
Starting point is 00:12:57 Well, I mean, they're just, and like, when or nimo tells us later, they're just their to do here, their, their, their, their, they, they, they, they, they, they, the, the, the, the, trying to survive. Yeah. They're just here, they're just here to do it. It seems like just become the trees then. That's a much more chill way to survive. Or just like become other people and live amongst these people. Oh, yeah, sure. Why do you have to, like, a lot of people out there don't have any use for love? You know? loop though. Who is a man who for everything I hear has a lot of use for love? Yeah, got that jazz, those jazz hands. And I don't mean dancing, I mean to play jazz.
Starting point is 00:13:29 For the Utah jazz. Oh, another basketball. That's a basketball. That's a basketball's. I don't really have a lot of notes on this one. Okay. Yeah. I just kind of watched it. So I watched it with my eyes. You don't have any notes that say DS is DTS is jazz. D-D-D-D-D-D-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-a-d-d-d-d-d-d-d-a-d-d-d-d-a-d-d-d-d-d-d-a-d-s-s-s j-s j-s j-s j-s j-s j-s j-s j-s j-s j-s j-s j-s. Yeah-s. Yeah-s. Yeah, I th-s j-s j-s j-s j-s. Yeah. Yeah. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-s, I th-s, I th-a-s, I th-s-s, I th-s-s-s, I'm th-s. I'm th-s. I'm th-s. I'm th-s. I'm th-s j-s. I'm th-s, I th-s, I th-s, I just kind of watched it. So I watched it with my eyes. You don't have any notes that say DS is DTF? I don't, but I thought about it a lot. Yeah, Donald Southerlin is ready to fuck. But he's also like sort of being respectful, right? He's not touch on her at least. Yeah, but it's not until her boyfriend's gone anyway.
Starting point is 00:14:01 It's definitely like the stir fry. You like she th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, tho, tho, tho, tho, th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I thi, thi, tho. I thooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. I th. I the stir fry? Yeah you too. You like the stir fry. Well she's eating the stir fry isn't she? I've eaten plenty of stir fries of people that I did not want to have sex with. I can't say that I have Alan. I'm just like a... Watch out Orient Express. Yeah. Yeah. That plays close didn't it? No, it's still open. Oh, good. So we start to see like Elizabeth, who is the co-worker who Donald Sutherland is infatuated with, her husband. She's into him too. She is. I'm just saying, I'm saying no one's doing anything untoward.
Starting point is 00:14:39 Right, unless your art handle you would probably think that every... He does suck immediately. I like like, I, I, think, think, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, thi thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, is thi, is thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii, is thi, is thi, thi think that every... He does suck immediately. I like how in movies they express that men suck by like having them not be able to stop watching basketball. I feel like that's just like here's how you, this is just like A to B, you know what I mean? It gets the point across though, doesn't it? It does? So he's changed. He doesn't care about basketball anymore. He gave away his tickets. Yeah. Like after one night. Oh, she put a flower by the bedstand and then she wakes up and he's cleaning up a broken glass. Oh, right.
Starting point is 00:15:11 Because the flower done come for him. And then we see him taking it out to the trash can, which is full of like. I thought it was dry lint. dark colored dryland. That's the husks of people. Yeah, I liked that a lot. You keep seeing the garbage trucks like throughout the city it's points and they're always just like compacting this like black dryland. Yeah and then like almost like a, if you ever like squished a mushroom that's got spores? No, I'm not an idiot.
Starting point is 00:15:39 They go like, and then this cloud will come out of them and that kept coming out of the end. And then you become an alien. You're an alien. I'm a mushroom alien. It's weird. It's weird to do a podcast with a mushroom alien. Sorry, I'm in mushroom head. That's what. Oh, much worse.
Starting point is 00:15:53 Sick mushroom head reference. A lot of people are saying, off for it. Just don't bother. Don't Google. But yeah, I love that there is that element of like, oh, are they spreading more by crushing them in the air? Because they were doing it constantly and showing you it. Yeah, I don't know. Yeah. I was wondering that. It's, the spread is confusing.
Starting point is 00:16:16 Do you have to to touch a flower because it seems like some people. . like the people who have been changed can just come and like get you. Right, because Jeff Goldblum, to my knowledge, hadn't touched a flower before there was a new Jeff Goldblum. Oh right, they find the new Jeff Goldblum in the mud baths. Yeah. Just laying there. How like, what? And gross, like covered in like that thin, like, vegetative, almost great. Yeah, it looks fantastic. Yeah. All the special effects in this movie, especially one that we will get to later, are
Starting point is 00:16:48 fucking great and they're all practical and it looks so good. Yeah, this is a this is a really beautiful movie. It really is. Yeah. Also Jeff Goldblow them. A beautiful movie into himself. He is like being so Jeff Goldbloomy too. Like, he has no lines that matter, first of all. He's just saying bullshit all the time. He's mad at Leonard Nimoy. He doesn't get to read his poetry. It's just like. I feel like he's a dude.
Starting point is 00:17:13 You just like put a penny in the back of and let him go around for a while. And then pull the penny back out when the scene. And he he he he he he he he he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he just he he he he he just he just he just he he he he he he he he he he. Oh fuck, I love Veronica Cartwright so much. Yeah. This is our third of her. That's something. Alien? Uh-huh. This movie? Uh-huh. Give me the third. Oh, fuck. Let me think. I know it. I know it. I know it. I know it. I know it. I know it. I know it. I know it. I know it. I know it. I know it. I know it. I the. I know it. I know it. I know it. I know it. I know it. I know it. I know it. Yeah. Katie, how did you remember that? I looked at her I am D B Page. Oh, fuck, I forgot we did that movie. I literally don't remember anything about it. Was it a remake? It was a remake, right? Yeah. Yeah, it was a remake that acknowledged that the first one happened. So it was like a continuation sort of. But there was already a sequel to that movie, right?
Starting point is 00:18:05 Mm-hmm. Well, whatever. But what this movie presupposes. It was probably real, real good. Um, this movie presupposes. But she's just like, uh, we're going to need someone to scream like they just died, like they're dying, like they're definitely dying right now. She was like, oh, me, me, me, I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It was, it was, it was, it was, it was, it was, th. It was, th. It was, th. It was, th. It was, th. It was th. It was, th. It was, th. It was, th. It was, th. It was, th. It was, th. It was, th. It was, th. th. It was like, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. It dying right now. She's like, ooh, me, me, I've got that. And I feel like I was reading about this movie, and much like in Alien, like her big scream scene, they didn't tell her what was going to happen. Why they do this to her? She's so scared in that scene.
Starting point is 00:18:37 She's so terrified. It is so upsetting to watch. Wouldn't you be? Yeah, yeah. Oh God. Which scene are you talking about for this movie? I was hoping you weren't going to ask me a question because I don't remember. There's a scene where she goes like bat shit though. Yeah. And like they didn't warn her whatever that was. Was it just Donald's other screaming at her in the last scene? No, was it?
Starting point is 00:18:58 Was it? Was she there for the dog? Was she there for the dog? She might have been. But she wasn't seeing that. Was that that wasn't a practical effect? Oh yeah, it was. What? Explain to the dog to me. So I thought it was like a weird overlay of some kind.
Starting point is 00:19:15 No, it's a practical effect. So earlier in the movie we see Donald Sutherland to this guy that he sees on the street all the time that's playing banjo with his dog laying next to him. Later in the movie we see the dog and the man just laying down to each other next to each other not moving. It's like... And there's pods right next to them. And they're like, have the banjo to each other like lovers. It's really sweet. Which is sad and also weird. dog comes running up that has the banjo man's face and when it runs it makes banjo noises.
Starting point is 00:19:47 Yeah. And then it licks at them. How did you do that? And that was all practical effects. No, I don't believe that for a moment. That's what I read. They just glued a man's face on that dog. I mean, maybe the whole fucking thing.
Starting point is 00:19:59 I don't maybe it was like photo-imposed maybe I don't know but that thing ran at me I would lose my goddamn mind oh fuck no I'm not doing this movie yeah Jesus it was so so good and so creepy and so like I was because I watching and I was like it's making the banjo noises while it's moving I was like oh, oh, does it think it's supposed to make banjo noises? Like, did it also like bring the band, like, is it like the, like, like, the brundle fly? Like, it like, I'm the fly, I'm the man, I'm the man, the man, the banjo is there to like, uh, uh, remember this guy? Remember the banjo guy? I don't think so, because it's the only dog we see.
Starting point is 00:20:45 You know what I mean? I think it has to be, I think you're right that it's just sort of, they all got mush together in like a weird pod accident. How night, Nightmarish, face that it licks at you. Oh that too, yeah, no I'm probably going to find the nearest bridge and just walk right the hell off. It's so good and weird and ugh. Can I ask a question about weird? Please. Why is Leonard Nimoy wearing that one weird leather thong glove? So there are a lot of theories that I was looking at. Okay, one is that he was wearing it just to be distinctive. Okay, well he's fucking Leonard Nimoy so I'll recognize him. What do you mean? Well no, the Dr.
Starting point is 00:21:27 Kibner would be wearing this to be distinctly. Oh, like I'm very weird and out there and I'm doing goofy stuff. No one would trust that person right? In the 70s. Everyone had shit weed weed. People were smoking oregano and shit all the times. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. K. to to to th. thtrusted everybody. I guess that's fair. People were smoking oregano. Oh, really? Yeah, you would sell people oregano and shit all the time. And you were like, well, weed sucks anyways. This is probably just not working. Once Rob accidentally got sold a bag of pencil shavings on the south side. Was that something was like, you know, man, do. I've had, I know people that that's happened to where they've like unwrapped the plastic bag that was in and it
Starting point is 00:22:07 was just more plastic bags. I mean, good on you. Yeah, I mean always take advantage of the dummies. Not that robs a dummy, but that's a dummy thing to do is buy weed on the street from a stranger hand if you're like talking to somebody? Looks like you're a kind of man who likes a gold chain because that has never happened to me. I do look vaguely like Mr. T. It's a chest hair, I feel. People are like, you know it would look great tangled in that? Gold chain. Look here's as Italian man. Soups pale. Yeah, like a ghost. Very pink.
Starting point is 00:22:49 Um, so we, oh, oh, the glove, the glove. So it's, it's an archery glove. Oh, is that what it is? Yeah. And, it's like, somehow worse. If Gina Davis was wearing it, you'd love it. Yeah, because she's an archer. That's right. That's right. But the other theory is that it was covering up some sort of wound that he's received in the process of becoming whatever he is now. Yeah. Or that it's I like supposed to be like, oh, maybe he got a burn on his hand and he's covering his, the burn up, the burn up, the burn, the burn, the burn, the burn, the burn, the burn, the burn, th.. th. th. Starting point is 00:23:25 You put a fucking band-aid on it. Why do that? It's weird. It's just weird that it's on there and they, I feel like there's a point made of showing it quite a bit. A lot. And there's no reference to it. He's constantly like rubbing his chin with his glove. Yeah, and I'm constantly the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. That's a thing if you show up, I'm be like, Katie, stuff with that glove. I know, and I'm going to expect that, because you don't just wear one weird leather thong glove. Oh, this old thing? Oh, I wear this all the time. Just have one cigarette in it to pull out. Oh, I like a th. I like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like tha. tha. tha. tho. tho. tho. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I th. Starting point is 00:24:05 When I was younger and a smoker, I always wanted to own a cigarette case, you know? Oh, you never did. No, no, I just bought the packs. Yeah. Because they were actually the same thing, which is less decorative. I had one when I briefly went through the filterless phase. Oh, God, you're just like, I'll just like, you. Yeah. Oh yeah, yeah. You were just like, I'll die someday. Why not today? I mean, I was drinking like three Mickeys, 40s a night
Starting point is 00:24:29 and just smoking filter the cigarettes. That's 120 Mickeys. It's a lot of a lot of pee that would come out of me when you're on. Oh, my god. How did you ever sleep? I feel like you would just wake up and just everything would be spinning. Oh, and you'd be like, well, I've found time for a filterless cigarette. Why do they even make filterless cigarettes?
Starting point is 00:24:53 Who wants that? The same people who want to read Charles Bukowski? Oh, that's a really good point. Try and drink yourself an oblivion. My early 20s were a rough time. Yeah, this is, took a dark turn. I was from Delaware. Okay. I mean, in this movie, they basically do speedballs, so that's something.
Starting point is 00:25:16 How many do they say you should take? Take five. And then immediately be sedated. And they're like, okay, well, these just even each other out. I know that is not what happens. That's what they killed River Phoenix people. What are you doing? Oh, God rest is beautiful face. I know. Every time I think about them, like.
Starting point is 00:25:35 Just like beautiful people shouldn't die young. They should get old like the rest of tha. tha. tha. tha. I'm going with fading away so I'm going to pick team fade away. Same zes. I have passed my burnout phase I think. Isn't it sad when you realize that if you died now, people would just be like, well, she lived. Not like what a loss. It's like when you realize that you're invisible to teenagers. Oh my god, yes.
Starting point is 00:26:09 I, yes. Once they scan you and go not a cop and then you just disappear. Yep. Mm. Someone's mom, you know? Oh, fuck Santa's here. Anyway, Santa's like the original cop. Or maybe that was Pontius Pilot.
Starting point is 00:26:27 I'm not sure. But Santa is up there in terms of cops. Super, guys, watch out. Santa's a fucking snitch. Yeah, oh my God, he's a snitch. Are you kidding me? Especially mall Santa's? Could we make Warewolf ambulance no snitch in shirts with a no symbol over Santa Claus? I would absolutely love that. I hope Justin Gray will acquies to drawing that for us.
Starting point is 00:26:52 Hey, speaking of Justin Gray, can we give a quick plug for his book? Please. Friend of the podcast, Justin Gray has illustrated a children's book called, My Cat is Weird. You can get it on the Amazon. It is fucking delightful. It's so awesome. That guy's a god the the the the th g g g g g g g g g g th. Justin th. Justin th. Justin th. Justin th. Justin th. Justin th. Yeah, if you have any kids in your life,
Starting point is 00:27:13 or just like good art and children's books. Yeah, it's really, really cute. And it's about being weird. Oh is it? I haven't read it yet. I have it downstairs. It's like eight pages. It's a children's book. Put this in the file. I'm working my way through Proust right now. I'm doing it. I'm still in my Bukowski first. What if Bukowski wrote a children's book? Forget it. Elizabeth is worried about her husband, the dentist. Uh, Donald Sutherland was like, hey, my buddy, Leonard Nimoy is like some quack sci sci sci sci sci sci sci sci, or, or, or, or, or, th. I, th. I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I. I. I. I. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm this. I'm this. I'm this. I'm this. I'm this. I'm this. I'm this. I'm this. I I I I I I I I I I I I. I. I I I I. I I I. I'm working, I'm working, I'm working, I'm working, I'm working, I'm working, I'm working, I'm working, I'm working, I'm working, I'm working, I'm working, I'm husband, the dentist. Donald Sutherland was like, hey, my buddy, Leonard Nimoy, is like some quack or psychiatrist dickhead. Let's go to him so he could tell you you're wrong.
Starting point is 00:27:53 Jeff Gould Bloom, who I also know is just going to be wandering around talking about his poetry. Yeah, it's confusing because this party seems to be for like the release of Lander Neu's book. Why did Jeff Goldblum think he could read his poetry there? That's super rude. That's like if you came to the Maxipad's show with an acoustic guitar and you're like I'm just gonna stand over here and just do this. I'm like I'm so glad I left you in the car. It would have been such a better maybe like a commentary on like the whole hippie thing. I was like, hey man, we're all here. Why can't I do this with you? You know, man?
Starting point is 00:28:27 That's gross. Get out of your hippies. So your team aliens in this? Uh, I mean, is that? Are thus my only choices? Yeah, apparently. Okay. Fair. I've been on team for far too long. I'm going with one to two and scream. Yeah, I think that's reasonable. Chaos ensues. Yeah, people get changed really quickly. It spreads across the city. They're in San Francisco and and this
Starting point is 00:28:54 you know I always feel like living in a city in a horror movie you're generally safer than like living out in the sticks. Sure. And in this one, you definitely aren't. Because the population changes so to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the to the to to the to to the to be the toe. toe. to be toe. toe. their. the the their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. And, t. And. And. And, the. And. And. And, the. And. And. And, the. And. And. And. And,. Sure. And in this one, you definitely aren't, because the population changes so fast. I guess in any sort of contagion or even zombie movies, I guess you're less safe in cities. Yeah, yeah. You want to get out of there with the zombies. Yeah. Yeah, I really like that. I love seeing San Francisco in the 70s anyway. Like there's just like, it's just a cool-looking- It is before it gets all techie for sales force drops.
Starting point is 00:29:27 And just like them cruising around that city at night and just seeing like the landscape of it. And like, and then the greenery that's all throughout the city that just becomes like, previously would have been like the saving grace of the city. Like having lived in South Philly where you can't go blocks without saying green. Yeah. And this has like so much of it intertwined into the city and then it's like, oh no, that's bad. Yeah, right.
Starting point is 00:29:53 This is what's going to be your downfall. Yeah. I really like that. Yeah. I like how all the houses inhabit you, they become you, they're just kind of a dick to everybody. Yeah, so their thing is that they feel no emotion. They have no need for love or hate or anything. They're just flat, right? But like, they don't come off just
Starting point is 00:30:26 flat, they come off dick. They come off mildly irritated at all times. Yeah, yeah, I guess that's just like resting bitch face though, you know what I mean? Resting alien face? Yeah. Like when they go back to Elizabeth's apartment to see if her husband is there and they can't find him and he's just standing around a corner like shaking. Yeah. I'm so mad but he wasn't mad though because they don't feel anything yeah. Maybe he was mad because the Warriors lost. I don't know who won the NBA championship from here but I don't think it was them. Might have been, I don't know. I'm not going to look that up. Oh no, I wasn't even, I wasn't even suggesting her. This is where I have the note the crazy hippie-bounding, sounding people are the sane ones. Yeah. So, Jeff Goldblum, for some reason, just runs into the crowd of bad guys screaming,
Starting point is 00:31:28 Here I am, you pod bastards? Why does he do that? I think it's to get them away from the rest of the group. He's like, you take them and I'll go and like confuse the pod people. It doesn't seem necessary. Mm-mm-mm. No. Yeah. Unless you want to make a Jeff Goldblum pod person. Who wouldn't?
Starting point is 00:31:48 But then you lose the original Goldblum. It's true. He wouldn't have that sensibility. Although even when he's a pod person, he kind of still talks like Jeff Goldblum, which I appreciate. I think, much like Christopher Walken, he doesn't have No, it's just who he is. That's just how he is. Have they done a movie together? There should be a cop buddy movie with the two of them. Oh, I would watch the shit out of that.
Starting point is 00:32:10 It would probably be actually be very grading to watch the two of them, act off each other. Um, I love the scenes where like he gets a call, like he's in a phone booth and the cops call him in the phone booth. Yes. And they're like, all right, Mr. Bennett, we're coming to you and it's like, I didn't tell you my name. And like, that shit is just like, but... Yeah, it's like, and it's all these government agencies start calling him on this phone. Yeah, so weird. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:38 It's like, this movie. There's one when they're in the apartment where the camera is just like rotating. Yeah. No real reason. It's not a particularly like tense scene or anything, but they were just like, let's try spinning it. And it works, like, I thought it was cool. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I think they handle tension really well in this movie, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, the., the. te, te, te, te, te., te., te. te. te. te. te. te, te, th. the, the releases of like, why are they making out right now? Did you not like their relationship? I feel like you didn't like their relationship. I never ever understand the intense situations making out. I never, like that's not a thing that's like,
Starting point is 00:33:16 shit, we should fuck right now. Like, it never, I mean, I get it in those like situations where people are like well all right well this is gonna be the last time because I'm dying tomorrow sure but in this they were just like oh I love you I love you I love you I love you oh oh oh yeah so that what sounds like if you make out yeah that's the one that's the one we want to have someone so mad to be mad don't that that was the sound the sound the sound the sound the sound the sound the sound the sound the sound the sound the sound the sound th th th th th th so the sound 't be mad don't be mad just the sound of a million podcast shutting off sorry was that making out was that I think that's I was it served one was just stirring macaroni cheese when they get into the cab and the cab he's like,
Starting point is 00:34:05 well, let me just, you know, just call in. I've got a couple type age passengers. I'd be like, I fuck off, I'm getting out right now. They're like, oh, okay. I'm a type age, that's me. You think that's for human? It's not even clever, aliens. You could do better. That's why I liked it. You think the aliens were like, this is super discreet.
Starting point is 00:34:26 Yeah, these guys are fucking dumbest shit. We got them. They are though. They just let it happen. I love that he grabs a handful of darts to go and fight people. That's what he kills Jeff Goldblum. He knew. He knew. I just don't, I don't understand any of the friendships in this movie.
Starting point is 00:34:45 Like, why is he friends with Jeff Goldblum? Why is he friends with Leonard Nimoy? That's, yeah, that again harkens back to my idea of them being like old hippies. But Leonard Nemoys is significantly older than them, right? Sure, yeah, he would have been the old guy that probably came around with the goodweed. Goodweed and I'm like, hey, what's going on? Oh, I hate that guy. You know what I mean? You don't like the old guy with a good weed? No, because they always, they always want something in a return.
Starting point is 00:35:09 Yeah. Old guys with Goodweed are never selfless. There's no altruism in Old Guy with Goodweed. You guys want to come back to the house and listen to deep verbal. No, no. No. Somehow, I got missing a kidney. Just a bat tub full of ice. Yeah. It happened to my cousin's friend's cousin. Oh, really? New Orleans.
Starting point is 00:35:32 Good old guy with weed. Missing a kidney. That's our PSA for this week. Never trust an old man with weed. I think that's a really good PSA. Yeah. And you can thank us all for it. Santa Claus is a snitch. Yes. Never trust an old man with the weed. Never trust Santa Claus with weed. Oh my God. He's just setting you up for failure. He's setting you up for failure. Oh how's that cold taste?
Starting point is 00:35:55 Why I'm just smoking weed? Yeah, yeah you are. Yeah you are. Yeah you are. Why are we talking about Santa so much? I don't know, it's funny. So Donald Sutherland finds like the pod plant? Is it just green, there's like a greenhouse where they're growing the flowers I guess? I don't, yeah, yeah, yeah. It doesn't make sense because it seems like the flowers are from outer space. Yeah, they're mass producing them, but there's just lines of people walking out and like if you live in Albuquerque getting this queue and if you live in Oakland getting this queue and I'm like Oakland's right there. Yeah everyone can just walk there. Right. But it's it's where you have families you're supposed to take pods to your family. I see. That's fucked up. It is
Starting point is 00:36:35 fucked up. Because earlier um you have to go to Delaware. Just take these pods. You get home with these pods to you get him with these pods to Dillowar. Delaware. Earlier when Elizabeth is first telling Donald Sutherland about her dentist husband and she's like oh yeah this is going on he's acting real weird and Donald Sutherland's like, I don't know if it's a social disease or if he's a Republican now. Oh yeah. Which is another like... Yeah I wish I had, you would tell me this before I watch the movie. th. th. th. th. this this th. this th. this this th. this th. th. th this th th th th th this this th thi thi thi this this this thi thi's this thi's this this this thi's thi's first thi's first this is first thi's first this is first this is first this is first this is first this is first this is first thi's first thi's first thi's thi's thi's thi's this this thi thi th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th is thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi tell. tell. tell. tell. tell. tell. thi. thi's first thi's first thi's first thi's first thi's th disease or if he's a Republican now. Oh yeah. Which is another like... Yeah. I wish I had...
Starting point is 00:37:07 You would told me this before I watched the movie. I guess I could have figured it out for myself. Yeah, I just kind of put it together while I was watching it at this time. I like that. No, I think that's really good. Thanks. You're welcome. So he ends up in this pod factory. Poor Donald Sutherland always ended up on scaffolding in the 70s, didn't he? Because he would do it, yeah. Yeah, they were like, you want to get up on this wire and he was like, oh yeah?
Starting point is 00:37:34 Like, it looked super dangerous. That was him, right? He was like doing those stunts. Oh my God, Donald's gone. They were like, you did this and don't look now. Let's go again, buddy, get up there. He's like, you almost died in that one. You want to do again? And he's like, yeah. Oh, can I blow your mind real quick? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:53 Do you know his hair is not naturally curly? That was a perm. That was a perm? I don't know. You don't want to do that because he wants to be able to come. He looks like that though. I mean like, it was like, it looked like that and don't look now too, didn't it? From when I was reading, they liked the way hisable man on the planet. He's Canadian. Yeah. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:38:25 There's some mean Canadians out there. The whole mulkas. The what? I was talking about a serial killing couple. Who are you talking about? Wilien Shatner? The homoca's? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:36 Yeah. Paul and Carla. Don't the to know. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Shatner, huh? They're not a bunch of Dexter's up there and kind of just killing who's bad. I don't know what that means. It's a television program. Yeah. I like to say Textors Laboratory when someone is excessively texting. It's a joke I stole from my friend Christina. Do they'll they they they they they they they they the the they their they their they they th. I th. I th. I like th. I like th. I like th. I like th. I like th. I like th. I like th. I like th. I like joke I stole from my friend Christina. Do they yell, Dee-Dee, back at you when it happens? A joke for our younger audience.
Starting point is 00:39:11 It's also a joke that I probably shouldn't know because I'm way too old to have been watching Dexter's Laboratory. No, you're fine. I was in my 20s when it was on TV. Yeah, that show was pretty funny. That was great, I th and I th and I th and I th and I th show was pretty funny. That was great, I loved it. I used to have a Dexter's Laboratory pen stand somewhere. Oh, being a nerds fun. Oh, I was like, why do I ever know if this is Tiddy Elizabeth?
Starting point is 00:39:38 And then because Elizabeth... Just suddenly Elizabeth gottimps. She becomes a pod person, she's just standing around like, no, it's fine, it's painless, let's do this. But nobody else is naked when they are pod people. Everybody comes out in their clothes. Yeah, why is she naked? She's just, she starts marching around too. She starts like clawing the place up.
Starting point is 00:39:59 Why? I don't know. They were just like, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. to to thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. thi. to. thi. thi. th. th. thoes. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It's is, th. It's is, th. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's, to. It's, to. It's, to. It's to. It's, to. It's, to. It's, to. It's to. It's toooooooooooooes. It's th. It, somebody has to be naked. It is in 1978 after all. Nancy Cartwright, no? Okay, you're just going to scream? Okay, that's fine, that's fine. That's her job. You scream. You're a good scream.
Starting point is 00:40:12 Oh, man. Brooke Adams, let's see, them. Yeah. Oh man. So were you sad when she got potted? Not as sad as I was when we realized that Donald Southerlin's potted. That's by far the saddest part. You think so? Oh yeah. When Nancy Cartwright sees him, she's like, oh God, hey. And he just goes, a screech and points at her.
Starting point is 00:40:42 His face is so funny. If you Google image search the invasion of the body snatchers 1978, like that image of him, that still is like the first 15 hits. It's just so sad. It is sad. But he doesn't care anymore. Because he's a dust person in the back of a garbage truck. He just doesn't care about anything anymore. So Katie.
Starting point is 00:41:11 Alan. That is invasion of the body snatchers for the most part. Yeah, I mean, fine. You guys watch this. Right. If you didn't, you probably should. You'll be surprised by how little Santa Claus there is. And how much weird leather glove there is? So no, I just shouldn't start rocking an archery glove.
Starting point is 00:41:32 I mean, I feel like you have to have a good reason when people ask. What are you going to say? So let's let's roll play this. Yeah. Oh, what's up with the glove? Oh, this old thing? Well, it's a family heirloom. All right, I mean, that's not bad.
Starting point is 00:41:50 It's where I keep my cigarette. Yeah, I feel like that's the best. What are you going to do after you smoke that cigarette though? Do you take it off? It's on your hand. It's going to be one broken cigarette inside of your glove. Now you keep and you put another cigarette in there. You have a pack in your pocket. Oh that's so depressing. What a weird affect. I'm a weird dude. It's a weird. Well so it's Leonard, Namoi. Namoi. Do you think we'll ever go back to the turtleneck and sports jacket era? I hope not? the caragan, as I like to think of it. It is definitely a Carl Sagan look. I hope not. I don't think it's a great look.
Starting point is 00:42:27 I don't think. Um, it's two of an era. It's, yeah. Yeah. I mean, turtlenecks. You know, it's just, some people sleeveless turtle neck? That's a thing? Like for women, it's like a...
Starting point is 00:42:47 Oh sure, sure, sure, it's just so, like my neck is freezing, pits are sweaty. I'm like... I just got chill neck. That's why they make scarves. Do you remember in the 90s when people would wear turtlene? Do you mean remember when I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I th. I th. Do you mean remember when I did? Yeah, I did in seventh grade. Did you have a side pony while you were doing it too? It's a different era. Okay. Yeah. I had the side pony earlier. Okay. But it was also probably rolling up my jeans. Sure. Were you pegging them? I don't know. Sure. Were you peging the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the thing thing thing the thing thing thing thing thing thing thing thing thing thing thing thing thing th. Starting point is 00:43:27 I think maybe you were supposed to. I wasn't good at very much. Katie. Alan. Let's go to the rating space. All right. You won't go first? All right.
Starting point is 00:43:37 to the rating space. You won't go first? Sure. All right. Love this movie. This is so fun. I feel like it was a great movie to watch, maybe not a great movie to do for the podcast because it wasn't much to like pick at. This is just a great, it's a great watch. It's a visually stunning, well acted. Um, Jeff Goldblum. A lot of people had fuck in this movie, you know what I mean? Seven and a half. I'm a hang up and let you talk.
Starting point is 00:44:12 Uh, I agree. This is a great movie. Less people I want to fuck, but I don't share the love of Donald's than that you have. What? Romantically? You don't think he's hot? No, no, not at all. We're weird. Have you ever told me this before? I'm not sure. But yeah, no, I do not find him attractive at all.
Starting point is 00:44:31 I feel like we've been living a lot. We could agree. Wait, am I today. Wait, not at all. I know. I know. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that. Starting point is 00:45:29 Thanks Corey for evangelizing for us. Chris, give us a very long story. I'll scroll through that for you. A lot of words, Chris. But it's a story about him going to rent a movie with his dad when he was six years old and he and his dad really liked werewolf movies. So they rented a werewolf movie and his dad just like sat Chris down in front of the TV and then like went away to do stuff. And then Chris's mom comes in on the orgy scene of Howling Too!
Starting point is 00:46:03 No! They rented Howling too! your sister's a werewolf. No, oh God, how confusing that must have been for little Chris. Mm-hmm. And how upsetting for his mother. Chris, are your parents still married? Let me know. That she does say, yelling and sued,
Starting point is 00:46:20 swears were surely expelled. But this movie has given my family a lifetime of stories and will always hold a special place in my heart. That's awesome. Yeah, that's a really fun story. I literally can't imagine what I would do if I came into a room and found that Rob had put Lucy down in front of the Hiling two years sister's a werewolf and she was watching the orgy scene. Oh my god. Oh my God. Oh, boy, that movie so bad. Is it though? Yeah. Yeah. So thank you, Chris for that story.
Starting point is 00:46:55 Thank you. And welcome. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Welcome to the party. He said so far he's just listened to zombie too and howling too. Choice selections.
