Starting point is 00:00:00 I'd like to thank you for joining me for my I've been to Point Plusit, West Virginia, AMA. Oh, okay, you've been there. Ask me anything. Um, how long to take you to get there? A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. today. to the today. tooe. toe. to take you to get there? Couple hours. Okay. Where in West Virginia is it exactly? It's right up against the Ohio border on the Ohio River.
Starting point is 00:00:28 Oh yeah, I should have known that because they say that in the movie, huh? Wasn't paying that much attention. Um, what cool Mothman stuff is there? There's a really red, like steel statue to the moth It's all like metal work. It's really cool looking. Is it just there that the Mothman's a good guy? Because they erected a statue in his honor? Yeah, there's this like theory that he was coming there to warn them that that bridge was going to collapse. Gotcha. Yeah, and they have a festival every year celebrating him. Wow. And I can tell you why. I mean this movie movie the festival the festival festival festival festival festival festival festival festival festival festival festival th th th th the movie th th the movie th th the movie the movie th the movie th the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the movie the m. the m th. the m the mothe mothed the mothed that that that the moth the moth the moth their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their the m. I the mothe. Why? Because there's nothing else in Point Pleasant, West Virginia. Yeah, I mean, this movie is not filmed there.
Starting point is 00:01:09 No, no, no, no. I had the worst Mexican meal I've ever had in my life. Interesting choice to eat Mexican food in Point Pleasant West Virginia and not just getting Burger King like any red-blooded American would. Well, I was like, hmm, what's the vegetarian option? Ah, what'd you get? A casadilla made with craft singles. Oh yeah. Yeah. Would eat, though.
Starting point is 00:01:31 I mean, it's just a grilled cheese with shitty bread at that point. Yeah, I wasn't. Yeah, I was not high enough to make that happen. And the margarita had almost no alcohol in it. So it was a double bummer. Oh, I could go for a margarita. Katie? Alan? Oh my God, what have you just hit a blender right there? Zzzzzzz?
Starting point is 00:01:51 What do you sound like? What's the tellund? the other sounds like? So I'd like to thank you for being here. in West Virginia, ask me anything, I gotta go now. You're doing the rest of the episode by yourself, okay, well then I'll read you my first note, well I'll read all of them since you're not here anymore. I'm back. My first note, which says,
Starting point is 00:02:10 Rob and I just yelled at each other about Richard Gere and I really don't know why. He's starting to fight. Who was pro, who was gone? He was saying that, that, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, tho, tho, to tho, to tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, tho, tho, th. Well, th. Well, th. Well, th. Well, th. Well, th. Well, th. Well, th. Well, th. Well, th. Well, th. Well, th. Well, th. Well, th. Well, th. Well, th. Well, tho, thi. Well, thi. Well, thi. Well, tho, tho. Well, tho. Well, tho. Well, tho. Well, tho. Well, tho. Well, tho, territory to begin with, It's starting to fight. Should find Richard Gere attractive. Negative. But my point was at the time that he was looking like that, I was, you know, how old is I in 2002, 19?
Starting point is 00:02:40 Yeah. Whatever? 18? So like, no, that wasn't my thing. But he thinks that I should look back in hindsight and want tofick tofuufufuf, tof, to f that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, thii, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii, thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii, should should should should thiiiiiii, that, no, that wasn't my thing. But he thinks that I should look back in hindsight and want to fuck that Richard Gear. And I just don't feel that way. So we yelled at each other. It's not a Craig T. Nelson situation.
Starting point is 00:02:55 It is not a Craig T. Nelson situation. Richard Gere is too pretty. Fun fact, I think he looks like a bunco Dustin Hoffman. Yeah, I think think th th think th th th th th th th th th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thu-I thu-I thu-I thu-I thu-I thu-I thu-I thu-I thu-I thu-I thu-I thu-I thu-I that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. thii. thii. thi. thi. that. Yeah, there's some similarities in the like nose mouth area or something. I find him not at all attractive. No. Mm-mm. Oh, I thought you meant you wanted to fuck both of them. At the same time. Ew. You mean, you don't want to like go look at a house with Richard Gear and like, thii. Yeah, with your their their their their their their their their their their thi thi thi thi thi thi thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, yeah, I thi, yeah, I thi, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, I thi, yeah, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I I th. Yeah, I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. and then just shut the door and go back to Bonin.
Starting point is 00:03:27 Yeah, with your wife who's like, I don't know, 27 years younger than you, it's offensive. I hate that. It's so weird. I think that was his point that like women, young women should find Richard Gere attractive and I was like, Rob, let it go. There's nothing attractive about the character that he plays in this movie. He's even like strunken-whiting people's grammar. It's rude. Very rude.
Starting point is 00:03:55 Yeah. I hate the love interests in this movie. The love interests. Like the, the, the,the interaction, the loving interactions that happen in this movie out of fucking, like what did him and Deborah Messing have in common? I don't know. What do him and Laura Lennie have in common? Nothing. No. No. No. And like... Sorry, not to bust this right out of the gate, but... Well, I'm unsurprised to hear that you weren't into the intimacy of this film either.
Starting point is 00:04:28 But I mean, the beginning of the movie is supposed to be a real bummer. Sure. So she, they're, they're buying a house or whatever in Shadyside. And, uh, uh... No, they're in D. Pittsburgh, D.C., Chicago, and Point Pleasant, West Virginia. That's how versatile we are, folks. When they're in Chicago and they're walking up to the fucking Carnegie Mellon building, and I was just like, come on!
Starting point is 00:04:54 I'm surprised there weren't people taking shitty wedding photos there. Sorry if you took your wedding photos there, because I know everybody did, but I'm surprised. I wasn't a dudefi thuuuuuuuuuuu there there thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thi thi thi the the th. I was th. I was th. I'm they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're th. th. th. thi thi thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeateeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. thi. thi. th. I'm surprised there wasn't a dude in a Stiller's jersey yelling at somebody there. 2002 you're looking at a probably Tommy Maddox jersey. Tommy Gun. Yeah, it's like, Point Pleasant is extremely flat. Yeah. So when he's driving around Catanning, yeah.
Starting point is 00:05:18 Just like everything's a 45 degree grade no matter where you're going. But that is a tie into another movie we've done, which is that exact same shot of the bridge that they show from far away was in My Bloody Valentine. My Bloody Valentine, three dimensions. All three D's are for Dean Winchester. Yes. Oh, yes. Also, there's a shot in this movie of Alumni Hall on the Pitt campus, which was formerly the
Starting point is 00:05:46 Masonic Temple, which is where the scene of Hannibal Lecter being held was shot, and also a building in which I have vomited, which I'm sure I mentioned in that episode too. So like I've vomited all over horror history. Dr. Lacter. Where's Perry when you need him? Get him on the blower. Can I read you a succession of notes that I have? Please. So we have the fucking in the closet and then they're driving home and they're feeling
Starting point is 00:06:17 a little Randy because they just fucking did the nasty in a closet. You think they fucked in there? Oh yeah, yeah, her pants were f. Oh! And... Also, who's feeling Randy after they fuck? It's over. Well, they were just, they were giddy. They weren't Randy, I'm sorry. Relax. Take a nap. So she's speeding through a neighborhood. So rude. Yeah. And... And... The Moth man attacks the car. It looks so bunk. It's so bum. It's so b. It's. It's. It's. It's the the the th. It's th. It's the th. It's the th. the th. th. th. the th. th. the th. the the th. the the the the th. the the the the the th. th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. the the the the the the the the the the th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the the thi. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. And the Mothman attacks their car. It looks so bunk. It's so shi- it's so the opening credits to 13 ghosts. Oh no. And do which I have the note, Mothman, I did not expect you to show up so soon. Yeah. Deborah Messing wrecks the car. And I have the note, Deborah, more like Deborah. Oh, dude.
Starting point is 00:07:06 Wait, Deborah lives. She sees the Mothman. MRI, I wanted the Mothman to be in the MRI. Oh, he is. Oh, she has a tumor. I apologize for all those jokes I just made. Well, then she really was Dead Bra Messing. How did you feel? Fine, sad? I didn't care. No, not at all. And we're only like 14 minutes into this kind of thing, you know? They did nothing to establish her as a human being you want to care about.
Starting point is 00:07:30 No, she has no... Her role in this film is to be a pretty wife, which is a bummer. Yeah, for about a total of another 80 minutes. Just like her in a swimsuit? Yeah, just laying on her side, crunching up her boobies. Yeah. Whatever. So she gets cancer. She goes, we go through her whole death scene. Yeah. And she's drawing angels. some, the orderly or the nurse or whatever. Does those look like angels to you? No. And why would you mistake them for such? She was drawing mothmans. And then what happened? Why later do we see that like a hole in the
Starting point is 00:08:19 shape of that man leaning? Like what did that have to do with anything? You'll know? I have to know why the fuck is the hole the shape of that man leaning, like, what did that have to do with anything? You'll know, I have to know why the fuck is the hole, the shape of the nurse. So what's going on? I don't know. That nurse did not know about the moth man, I don't think. No, he thought they were anchors. And also, like, why would you look at a hole in the wall I knew a man shaped like that. I saw him once for about eight seconds. So we jump two years ahead. Richard Gears on the TV, talking to people. Being a Washington Post journalist, which we were told over and over and over. Well, in the beginning we know that he's the best at reporting.
Starting point is 00:09:01 Oh, right. He's telling Steve from the sex in the City about it. I was wondering if you'd recognize him. I'm a woman. I'm also surprised that I recognize him. I've seen like 13 seconds of Sex and the City. And I went, hmm, that's not for me. So Steve's trying to set him up. Oh, sorry. He's a great character. that's a good character. that. that. He's that. th. that. th. He's th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that's thi. thi. that's, good guy. Miranda's husband? Eventually, yes. Yeah. Spoiler for sex in the city. I mean. So Steve's trying to set him up with a new lady because it's been two years. Yeah. And he's like I can't do it. I ought to go interview the governor in Richmond. And he's driving for hours and hours. It does not take hours to get from DC to Richmond. No, it's like 60 miles. Yeah, it's real close. And then he passes out and wakes up in somewhere. He doesn't know where. On a back road, because there are no back roads between DC and Richmond. Mm-mm. And his Audi breaks down,
Starting point is 00:09:59 which I have the note, sorry about your Audi, Rich Boy. Oh God. That's very very catty in this. You were mad at Richard Gear. And th. And th. And th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, and thi, and thi, and thi, and thi, and thi, and th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And, and th. And, and th. And, and th. And, and th, and th, and th, and th. And, and th. And, and th. And, and th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, he, he he he he he he he he he he he he he he, he, he, he, he,. That's very very caddy in this film. You were mad at Richard Gear. This is the first Richard Gear move I've ever seen. You've never seen Pretty Woman? What? Tell me the plot of that movie? No. It's a hooker with a heart of gold. Yeah, why didn't I see that movie?
Starting point is 00:10:22 It just seems that time-wise you should have. Sure. Yeah, I mean, sure. I've seen a lot of things that if you explain the plot, I probably should have never seen. Yeah, right, you're like, oh yeah, I'll watch last house on the left, that's fine. Yeah. Let's go like a little thing of him showing up at that house three nights in a row at 2.30 in the morning.
Starting point is 00:10:48 I love that. Because it's like, oh, I'm going crazy. Yeah. Now, here's where I want to get into this. Let's get into it. As you guys know, because I've talked about it a bunch, Rob is really in decrypted and believes in them strongly. And so he has read the Mothman Prophecy's book. And so this is where he started saying, this is how it happened, that is not how it happened.
Starting point is 00:11:13 So I guess that really did happen. Okay, Richard Gere showed up at their house three times a row. The problem with this movie is that it sticks kind of closely to what happened. So like Mothman really did call people on the phone. Sure. That's not scary in a movie, you know. No, when I took the tour of, I took the Mothman tour when I was in Point Blosden, West Virginia, and they take you to like the Dynamite Factory where the Mothman would hang out and... And they were like, hey, call people on the phone, call people on the phone, definitely did it, definitely call people. Yeah. But like, what Mothman voice is going to sound scary?
Starting point is 00:11:51 Like, try, blah, I don't know. Why is the Mothman underwater? Do moth swim? I don't know. And like, Injurid cold is not a good name, but like that is what people heard, I guess, when Mothman called them on the phone. It's Jim Marama. And Jim Mow.
Starting point is 00:12:09 I think he said injured cold. It's just, maybe it's a little too close to the original source material, you know. Because it does not make for a great film. No. No. I've never read the book. I'm sure it doesn't make for a great film. No. No. I've never read the book. I'm sure it doesn't make for the best read. He seemed to enjoy it, but you know. I think if you're indecrypted.
Starting point is 00:12:31 Yeah, who's indecrypted? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So I like that he pulls a shotgun on him and sticks up in the shower. Yeah, that's funny. I like that a lot. And then for surprise number two in this movie, Surprised by the Mothman showing up so early. Yeah. Laura Linney's a cop? Yeah. In West Virginia? Yeah. With no accent? No. And the thing is, Laura Linnie's the best. Oh, God, she's a treasure. But in this movie, she does not have much to do, even despite despite the fact the fact the fact the fact the fact the fact th, th, th, th, the, thi, to to to to to to to to to to to do much much much much much to do much to to do much to do much to to that she is basically the female lead. Rivaled by the photo of Deborah Messing, of course. She must have second billing to that photo.
Starting point is 00:13:12 She does. She does. She shows up, diffuses the situation, immediately falls in love with Richard Gere, takes him to a motel, and like like she has to have other duties while in Point Plus in West Virginia. One would assume, although probably pretty slow. But what's weird stuff is happening so no, yeah you're right. She dedicates the rest of her job to him to hanging out with him. Yeah, he's very handsome I guess or whatever. Very needy. Very needy. He's very needy. So we have the scene where like
Starting point is 00:13:47 she finds him sitting on the side of the road waiting to see if he shows up at that guy's house again at 2.30 in the morning. Oh right. Which he does not. He does not. But he's already there. So it's kind of like, what were you going to do? Oh man. They should have had to see him where he walked up and he was watching himself walked up, that would have been spooky. I would have liked that. But this part, this is all kind of spooky, right? That's spooky. It's when the woman is describing seeing the mothman in her yard, it's kind of spooky. Sure. There's a lot of, I feel like, the first 15 minutes of are a good build to something that could be scary.
Starting point is 00:14:25 Yeah, I'm in. I'm in at this point. Yeah, I'm into all like the weird like devil-shaped burn marks on everything where the moth man has been. It's on the front of his car. It's on the trees. It's like... Is that a thing in Point Pleasant, West Virginia? Not that I know of. I don't know if if if if if if if if if that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's the that's the that's the that's the that's the the that's that's the that's that's that's that's the the that's that's that's that's that's the that's that's that I that's the the the that's the that's the the the that's the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm in. I'm in. I'm in. I'm in. I'm in. I'm in. I'm in. I'm in. I'm in. I'm in. I'm in. I'm th. I'm th. Yeah. I'm th. I'm in. I'm in. I'm into. I'm in th. I'mthe book. I didn't ask. I wasn't paying super close attention because when we took the tour, there was a family that were super into cryptids and had a lot of questions. And then kept talking about how they lived by Wright Patterson Air Force Base, where they have UFOs. Sure, sure. So like they'll hope they have the UFOs there, so let's talk about UFOs for a while. You guys want to talk about UFOs? I mean if you're into one, you're into the other is my understanding. We guys come down on Chessie, huh?
Starting point is 00:15:10 Chesapeake Bay, water monster? No? I've never heard of Chessie from anyone other than you in my life. You think that logmas answer is real? No, neither. That's another thing we fought about. Robin I, I mean, not you and I. I'm boring and don't believe in any cryptids. Yeah. If there was a fucking big foot out there, we'd have seen it by now. Yeah. Or he would have declared war on us and started killing people off. Although I do love Harry and the Henderson.
Starting point is 00:15:41 Sure. Hell yeah. Let's go. Go away. We're talking to Gordon Smallwood, who's having voices talk to him through his sink. I got to talk about this actor. I recognize him, I think, and he's so really bad. In this, yeah. Yeah, why is he so bad? It's good, like, having never seen another Richard Gere. I, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th and I I I I I I th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii, thi. We's thi, having never seen another Richard Gear. I have to assume that he in other things is a good actor. Richard Gear. Richard Gear. Yeah
Starting point is 00:16:10 because in this he is but he's bad. Yeah Laura Lennie isn't great either and we know for god damn sure she's good. Yeah yeah she's the only thing worth watching in that fucking love actually. Oh you don't want to watch Liam Nees and fall in love with a child? Men teach that child the game or whatever that book is where we have to neg people. Yeah that guy's he's not good, his wife's not so great. So it's got to come down a director, right? I guess so. And the fucking edits of everything's like, go to the next scene. Thom, thu, thu, the mothman. Because they're flapping they wings.
Starting point is 00:16:47 And so a big thing is that the mothman has red eyes. And all these incidents happen while people were in cars. And so it's like, yeah, dumbedums. It's called brake lights of some other car that are spooking you. I know, I know. I can. I can't wait to get to what happens later in this movie. Okay, okay. So he hears a voice tell him that 99 will die from his sink. Yes, Denver 9. 99 will die. And it comes true. It does. Yeah. It's a flight that goes down. Uh, the Denver 9, 9, 9, is that true? Not that I know of. I think all of the like, so the Mothman was like seen in the 60s in Point Flusant, and has not been seen since. Oh, where to go?
Starting point is 00:17:34 Supposedly he's been seen like South America and a different like. Oh. Yeah. I mean, it's, you know, it's all horse bucket. I mean, th... I mean, yes, I believe it. Group psychosis, just like, Dream Warriors. Take your hypodosil, everyone. Um, Gordon's ear starts bleeding because his brain's going crazy or something. Yeah, I'm not sure why his brain... I'm not sure why his ear bleeds because we're to believe that he also has the same rare tumor that Richard Geer's wife has, but he doesn't. No. But everybody else who's seen the Mothman, their eyes have bled. Right, and the one guy's eyes are still bleeding or
Starting point is 00:18:14 something. But according to Rob, that's that happened. Okay, all right. It's in the book anyway. So I want to just jump ahead of this because I think it's the funniest the funniest the funniest the funniest the funniest the funniest the funniest the funniest is the funniest is the funniest the funniest is the funniest the fu fu fu fu fu fu fu fu fu fu fu fu fu fu fu fu th f f f f f f f f f f f f-a thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. the the their. the the the te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. I. the te. this because I think it's the funniest part of the fucking movie. This is the two kids that are making out in a car. And they show them making out in the car and the Mothman comes and like shines a bright light in their window and like pounds on the window or something. Like, these are the fucking Zodiac killer. And they show the kid, like the male in the couple, and he goes, ah! And I'm like, oh my god, Mothman came up and this guy's super nutted.
Starting point is 00:18:50 Just saw Mothman and blue the loadest of loads. But, and I have the note, he nutted so hard, he broke his eye. Oh my god. Because his right eye is permanently bloodshot. Yeah, that can happen. If you push really hard, your eyes will turn all red. At this point I was like, what the fuck is this movie? What am I watching? Monkman broke? What are the prophecies? Can I tell you what I think is the funny scene? Please? It's when he, Richard Gere is in the motel room talking to Moth man on the phone man on the phone man on the phone the phone the phone th th. And he th. And he th. And he th. And he th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah. th. Yeah. th. Yeah. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I. Yeah. I. I. I. I. I. I. Yeah. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. th. I. the. th. th. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. th is the funniest man. It's when he, Richard Gear is in the motel room talking to Mothman on the phone, and he's like doing all the tricks
Starting point is 00:19:27 that's like where the watch is and where his dad was born and all that stuff. And it's just like, why is Mothman so desperate to impress you? Like, why is Mothman like Richard Gere? I need you to understand. When Mothman showed up and pulled that nickel out from behind him, Richard Gere's ear? He was like, do you like Magic? I know that was last week's movie.
Starting point is 00:19:52 Injured, fucking cold. It sounds like a low-tier Nescar driver. Yeah, he's in like the truck series. Let me out of theriver. Yeah, he's in like the truck series. Let me out of the cock hold. I love that movie. So, so, so like if the first, okay go ahead, go ahead. No, no, no, please. No, this is a, this is very deep and I want to say it later. Okay. So, I have so many notes to say the jump cuts are ridiculous because they're fucking, they look like shit.
Starting point is 00:20:26 They do look like shit. They were like, yeah, it was just like, oh this is so 90s and not good. And it wasn't the 90s, it was 2000 and too. Yeah. So the people die, super nut, so Laura Lennie are becoming real close. And she she tells him about this dream. This is the only the only the only the only the only the only the only the only the only the only thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. I, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, is, is thi. I's, thi. I's, thi. I's, thi. I'm, thi. I'm, thi. I was, thi, thi, thi, that she had. This is the only like believable emotion in the entire film is Laura Lenny describing this dream. Right. Yeah. And it's a terrifying dream. Like the imagery of like floating up and seeing Christmas packages floating above you and not being able to break
Starting point is 00:20:57 the water is terrifying. Yeah. And she starts crying. And then I have the note, don't you touch her fucking tears, Richard Gear. You do not know her well enough to wipe her, like casually wipes her tears away. I know, like they must have been fucking at that point. He's also like, he does a thing where he like gets really close to his face and whispers? Like, why is Richard Gere whispering into your mouth? He did it to a guy who the night before held a shot. Yes. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He is, to. He is, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, like, to, to, to, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, is. I is. I is. I is. I is. to to to to to to to to th. to th. to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to. I to to to to him. Yes, he's just like, almost like holding the back of his head and whispering into his mouth. I put my thoughts of you. Ew, you pervert? I fucking hate him.
Starting point is 00:21:35 Just like, get your face away from everybody. Nobody wants a face that close to them. Stop touching other people's tears. Yeah, get your face away. And then like, okay, so he goes to Chicago to find the guy who wrote the book. Leak. Leak. In real life, his name is Keel. So, good job, idiots. So, he goes to Chicago. He like, meets with this guy for like an afternoon and then comes back. And when he comes back, Laurel and he's like, oh, Gordon's wife left him, and he's having a hard. And, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, like, like, like, like, like, and, like, like, like, like, like, like, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the the, the the the the the the the to, the to, to, touch, touch, to. touch, to, to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. the the the the the the the the the afternoon and then comes back and when he comes back Laurel and he's like oh Gordon's wife left him and he's having a hard time and it's like how fucking long was he in Chicago? I felt like such a geographical dummy because at one point it shows I think it's
Starting point is 00:22:17 when he's driving back to Chicago to talk to him again and they just show a sign for Indianapolis and like what fuck is he go oh yeah it's between oh the the the the the the he. it's like oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah oh yeah it's like he. it's like he. it's like he. it's like he. it's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's he's like he's he's he's he's he's like he's he. I he. I he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like he's like. he. he. I he. I he. he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's like he's like he's like he's like. he's like. he's like. I I he. I he. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. what fuck is he? Oh yeah, it's between. It's between. It's between them. But while he's in Chicago, he also sees an image of a cave painting with the mothman on it, which I laughed really hard at too. Oh my God. Oh my God. Yeah.

Starting point is 00:23:08 Like when Mind Hunter season one was filming and Lose a little corner bar, I was like, that's my bar. Yeah. Oh, could I tell you about me being a grosso? . It's mind hunter-inter related. to. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I. I. I. I. I. the. I mean, people love that show, so, and people love serial killers, and people love true crimes. I don't have one.
Starting point is 00:23:45 You don't have a favorite. I do really like that Mindhunter show, though. It's super weird. I have not watched. So I watched the first season, like about a month after giving birth. Yeah, it was real dark. So I think I need to go back and watch it now that I'm in a better head space and then I then I then I then I then I then I then I then I then I then I can I can I can I can I can I can I can I can I can I can I can I can I can I can I can I can I can the second to be like, I know where that is. I know someone who's working on the sound.
Starting point is 00:24:08 So Smallwood meets injured coal. I love the Marilyn Manson fucking imagery of injured coal walking out like back, betlick with wings. And then they dropped out into a trench coat and I was like, come on. Oh, I know. It is really bad. It's really bad. It's really bad. It's really. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. Yeah. It's. It's. Yeah. It's. Yeah. It's. that. that. that. the. that. the. the. No it is really bad it's really really bad. This is like one of the bad undertaker turns. I wish he'd turned into biker. I'm Ted Piker and then he tells him something about three hundred equator 300 will die. Yeah. He's like got it in the newspaper right here. Right here. It's here. It's. It is. It is. It is. It is. It is. It is. It is. It is. It is. It is. It is. It is. It is. It is. It is. It is. It is. It is. I the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. It is like. It is. And then he tells him something about 300, equator, 300 will die. Yeah. And he's like, I got it in the newspaper right here. Right here. They all die. Do you think that injured cold, mispronounced Ecuador? Or do you think that Gordon misheard it?
Starting point is 00:24:56 I don't know. Because why equator? I mean, I'm assuming that's what really happened. But because otherwise you would just say Ecuador right? Yeah. Good God. Well he likes to be a little bit vague, just a little bit vague. Well if he knows these things, why doesn't he just tell you? Why doesn't he call the cops or somebody? Come on, Injured. I mean, you can use a phone.
Starting point is 00:25:21 Why are you in Point Pleasant, West Virginia tell him about these things? Is Mothman just a phone freaker? I'm not exactly sure I understand what phone freaking is, but I think it might be this. I don't know. I don't know. That's where you just call up and ask if their refrigerator is running? No, I don't think so. But I do love that he's basically that he that he's that he's hea hea hea he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's that he's that he's th. th. th. th. thi thi. thus. thus. thus. tho. tho. thi. thi. that tho. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Where's my watch? In your butt, Richard Gear, like the, was it a hamster, a gerbil?
Starting point is 00:25:50 Poor Richard Gear. I forgot about that. I mean, I was like, are we going to make it through this episode without me talking about this? The answer is no. Here I am. Mm-hmm. What a weird, weird, dumb rumor. That sucks. Yeah. Because it happened at a time where it was hard for people to look it up and see if it was
Starting point is 00:26:06 true or not, you know. But also, a little common sense people. I know people are freakyly key, but like, come on. Oh, imagine how awful that would feel. Do you think anyone's done it as a result? No, put your headphones back on. Okay. Do I do I th th th th th that that that that that that that that that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's. that's that's that's that's that's. that's that's. that's that's that's. that's. that's. that's. that's that's that's that's that's that's that's thii. thi. thi. their their their their their their their their their thoooooooooomoomorrow. that's thooomoomorrow. that's that Okay. Do I think? No, I do not. I do not. I do not. God, I hope not. So if the first 14 minutes of this movie is sad times, and
Starting point is 00:26:33 the next 45 minutes is kind of spooky times, I feel like the last hour should really just have spun off into a different movie called Conversations, because that is all it is until that fucking bridge collapses. Yeah. Just people talking to each other. Why does his wife show up again? I don't know. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:26:54 I don't know. That's the thing I don't understand. Is Mothman benevolent? Or is Mothman fucking with him? I don't know. I mean, And why him? And why her? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:07 And why any of this? Well, according to the MRI, Mothman was in her head. Yeah, he did fly really hard into her brain and then lodge himself there. Oh my God. Yeah. Oh, it's... Luckily we have this photo of her. She's so pretty. Look how pretty she is. What? It's like I'm watching somebody else's fever dream.
Starting point is 00:27:35 And you're like, but that doesn't make any sense. Yeah. Yeah. And like, is this what you think Richard Gear acts like? Because I don't think this is what he really acts like. Like, it's a day of your fever dream. It's a weird Richard Gear. I'm not sure what's happening here. Why is Richard Gear doing the things that Richard Gear is doing? Why is Laura Lemme falling in love with him? I don't know. Probably is a cool car. Just that Audii. Why does he go back and see Alexander Leak again? Let me think.
Starting point is 00:28:07 No. No. Well, let me check Wikipedia, maybe it'll tell us. I don't know. I don't know. I don't know. So he's got to drive. He goes back home.
Starting point is 00:28:18 We didn't even talk about how Gordon killed by sitting outside for too long. Yeah, he just, what was he doing out there? I don't waiting, th waiting, th waiting, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, to. thi. too, too, too, too, too, to. to. to. to. to. to, to, to. to, to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. the. to. the. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to.? I don't know. Waiting for injured cold? And then he died of cold. Maybe injured cold is like sub-zero from the mortal combat franchise. Get over here. Thoughts. Wait a sub-zero though? Oh forgive me. Don't they look exactly the same? One is yellow and one is blue, don't be an assol? Forgive me. You're forgiven though I don't think you're truly sorry. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. to to to to to toooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. toe. to to thi. thi. thi. thi. me. You're forgiven though I don't think you're truly sorry so that's that just goes to show you what a big person I am. But yeah so MaFan tells Richard Gere that his wife's gonna call him. Oh that's why he goes back to DC. Why? Why? Georgetown, Friday. Oh, right, right, right. Because he does have a cell phone, though, so I guess she could call him there.
Starting point is 00:29:10 But she's not going to, she's going to make it inconvenient for him. But that doesn't explain why he goes back to Leak again. Who's in Chicago? Yeah. I don't know. It doesn't explain. why Laura Lenny calls him was like, baby you gotta come home for Christmas. Yeah, we spend it with me and I guess my family. That'll be weird for everyone. Like, if someone is inviting you over
Starting point is 00:29:31 and they're like, yeah, we're doing presents at eight, wouldn't you be like, I would prefer not to be there for this weird thing that's happening with your family? I did not get presents for everyone. No, because he thinks it's going to be something. He thinks it's going to be the chemical plant. He thinks it's going to be the plant. I forget why he thinks that.
Starting point is 00:30:14 Oh, tragedy on the Ohio River and the plant is on the river. Sure, okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the thean.ean.ean.ean.ean.ean.ean.ean.ean.ean.ean. He's thean is the the the the the th you're messing up John or whatever your name is John Richard Gear yeah yeah Richard gear and then the governor goes to visit the plant everything's fine everything's fine yeah no explosions whatever yeah I mean that's what I'm saying about Mothman if he can be so specific as to know where your your watch is at that very moment he could like probably clarify where on the Ohio River this tragedy is going to strike so why doesn't he? This is what I hate about conspiracy theories and all of these like alien abduction and blah blah blah like he said Tuesday blues day so what I think this means? And you know that's just like no what why the
Starting point is 00:31:03 fuck why can't Johnny come down from a space and just tell me what's going on? Right. It's all the benefit of hindsight where you're like, this is what happens, so here's how we can piece it together. Well, like, that's not really a prophecy, is it? And how do I tho'n't the anti-Semitesmitesim-andem-s, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, and, because, and, and, because, and, and, and, because, because, and, because, and, because, because, because, and, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, th. And, to all the conspiracy theory heads up there. I'm not really sorry. Well, they're not all anti-Semites, are they? No, I wouldn't think so. It just seems like every conspiracy theory just ends up there somehow. Yeah. That's fair. When Laura Lenny calls him and tells him to come back to West Virginia, I just have the note, Laura Lenny's making a lot of sense. Is she? Yeah, it's just just, the, dog, just get your shit together. Oh, right, don't answer the phone call because it's not your
Starting point is 00:31:48 wife, because she's dead, which she says to him, and he like is so taken a back by. Yeah. I don't think he knew. I hope he did. I apologize to my notes the phone out of the wall. Yeah. Yeah. I hope he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I mean it's something that is a detail that somebody liked in this movie, you know? It's a trick that the ghost did. Yeah. Gotcha. But like what what did it was Mothman gonna say if you picked it up? Hi, it's me, Linda? No. What's her name? Kathy? Mary? Of course it is, because she's like very virginal. Hi, it's me, Linda.
Starting point is 00:32:30 Kathy, what's your wife again? Mary. It's me, Indoor Mary. Your watch is in your butt. He hit his watch, not in his sheer studdum and cramped. Just right into his asshole. Where's my watch? Where's my watch?
Starting point is 00:32:51 Just ticking inside his ball. I made you say but. So he drives back to Point Pleasant. And he gets to the bridge. Yeah, the Catanning bridge. Yeah, the Catanning Bridge. I'm sorry, the silver bridge. And this is the part of the movie that was like,
Starting point is 00:33:11 oh shit, this is legit tense. Yeah. Go ahead. Tell me about that bridge. No, you tell me. So the bridge starts rocking a little, because it's all fucked up, so everyone's jammed up on the bridge. And they they they they they're like they're like the their their their their their their the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights, the lights are lights are the lights are all fucked up, so everyone's jammed up on the bridge. Yeah. And they're like kind of, the bridge is older, it's exceeding the weight of the bridge, I guess. It's a little creaky seeming.
Starting point is 00:33:31 And shit starts popping off of the bridge. And when he's talking to the teen who super-nutted earlier, one of the wires snaps off the bridge and lifts the kids' cars up and killed the loved that. I was like, fuck, this is giving me good time. What's the movie where you can't escape death? Final destination. It's give me like the final destination feels of like just like inanimate objects, animating and murdering people. But then here's where the movie then fucking shits it up again. We see his fiancee coming out of the bridal salon wearing a dress. It's of Christmas Eve. Why is she trying on wedding dresses?
Starting point is 00:34:06 Go home. Go home. They've got a Christmas marriage happening. Like, are we supposed to care? Her only line in this movie is, we're getting engaged. And it's apropos of nothing. It's just there so that when you see her in a wedding dress later, you go, ah, I see, I understand. I have solved your prophecy. Moth man?
Starting point is 00:34:26 Mothman. No, I loved that though. Yeah, the car lifting up was great. And then like, I thought the shots of like the bolts rattling, I was like, oh, fuck. Because legit nightmare of mine, bridge collapsing while I'm on. You live in a very bad city for that. Yeah, yeah, after, I, I, I, I, I, after, after, after, after, after, after, after, after, after, after, after, after, after, after, after, the, the, the, the, the, the most bridges in the world. Yeah, yeah. When after the Liberty Bridge fire a couple years ago and they were like, it's open, you can take it. I would drive across it, I have to drive across it twice a day for to get to my office and then back home, I would
Starting point is 00:34:57 just put all my windows down and take my seat belt off for the duration of the bridge. I was like, if it's going down, I'm getting out of the car. You're halfway out of the car. It's just driving with like a Duke boy. I was thinking more like Ace Ventura that okay. But that is the difference between your generation and mine. Just kidding. Yeah, well, like when the Birmingham bridge shifted eight inches? Yes, that was so scary. Or I can't remember what country was in now, was in Spain or Italy where a bridge section that was like X amount of stories in the air just fell on part of the city? Like what the fuck are you supposed to do anymore? I don't know. Also like how many of our bridges are in disrepair? Like most of them, yeah, it's really bad. Our infrastructure is terrible. And we're all going to die in a bridge collapse. Hi, it's me. th. I. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. th. th. th. th. th. them. Like most of them, yeah. It's really bad. Our infrastructure is terrible, and we're all going to die in a bridge collapse. Hi, it's me, injured cold. You watch it in your butt.
Starting point is 00:35:48 You're just going to collapse. Right in your butthole. Page 51, line 3, hold on, let me get the... That was so dumber, he made him read out of the book that he was looking, that, that, to put, that's so funny, it's the funniest scene in this movie, this movie's a comedy. It's so silly. But this, this scenes like legit tents. The whole bridge collapse scene I think is really well done.
Starting point is 00:36:12 The car's sliding. Yeah. It's the things falling into the water. Yeah. It's a cold, dark water. It's. It's. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's really. It's really great. It's really great. It's really great. It's really great. It's really great. It's really great. It's really great. It's really great. It's really great. It's really great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's great. It's really great. It's great. It's really great. It's really great. It's really great. It's again. She tel me how it shits it up. It's he sees Laura Lini passed out sliding into the river. Yeah. So what does Richard Gere do? Jumps in the water. He's not going to do that.
Starting point is 00:36:33 He stays underwater for, oh, I don't know. 10 minutes? I hate that in movies when it's gonna shock you. Yeah Have been underwater in like ice water? It is really fucking cold and it's really fucking scary I heard her running into Lake Michigan in like July and thought I was gonna have a stroke because the water was so cold But just like it's so dumb it's so dumb, but he loves her, but it was prophecy they would love each other that he would save her That's why all of this happened in her dream? She kept dreaming. She? She. She. She. She. She. She sh. She sh. She sh. She sh. She sh. She sh. She sh. She the th, she th, she th, she th, she th, she th, she th, she th, she th th th t th t t t t t th th th th thi thi th th th thi thi thi thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th is really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really really th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi thi thi thi toli tolu tolu ttolu tttolu thu thu thu thu thu thu thi thu thu thu thu thu they would love each other that he would save her. That's why all of this happened. In her dream, she kept dreaming that she was number 37. Right, wake up number 37.
Starting point is 00:37:11 And when she says that, you get a little chillbones, because she's so good. She's so good. Yeah. And so he drags her out of the water, because he's see Richard Gere doing this. No, I don't see... If you're diving into the water after your loved one, you're going, well, we will now die together. Right. There's not, you're not bringing them back out.
Starting point is 00:37:35 No. So he comes up in the, the fireman that they've befriended at some point in this movie like rolls up and he's like, oh man, 36 dead. Yeah, how do you know? And they look at each other like, 36. 36. So I thought, Mothman Prophecy 2, Mothman's got to get into the number 37. Oh, Final Destination, the Mothman. Yeah. Just gunned for Lenny. It's interesting because like in real life, I mean that bridge really did collapse. the the th 46 people. Why are they grossing it down? I don't know. And like some of the victims were never found. So like you're not going to claim them right away in those moments, like it's just offensive. It really, like yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure. Like I understand when some great tragedy happens that you want to rationalize it in some way, so just you're grabbing whatever you can, so why wouldn't a moth man do this? Yeah. But, yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:32 Do you know what it was that actually caused the bridge to collapse? I do, but tell us. It was a tiny defect that was like 2.5 millimeters deep in a single eyebar on a suspension chain. Just the tiniest little dink and the whole thing went down. It was carrying, like, there was too much weight on it and it had been poorly cared for I guess, but. Poorly engineered. Oh really? And then like to the point of where they thought about bringing charges against the engineer, but they realized that like there was no way he could have figured that out in his schematics that it right right right right it right it right it right it right right right it right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right right. right. right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. th. th. th. thi. thi. th. th. thi. th. th. thi. thi. thi's thi's th. th. th. the the their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their thi. It was the. It was the. the. the the the the. the the. the. the theee. the. the. the. the. the. their was the. their was the.that it would have done that. Oh man. But yeah, like fucking, like just again, like how, like, aren't you so glad that's not your job? Oh, cute.
Starting point is 00:39:10 But just like the, you know, the beautifully blind way we go through the world, and just been like, everything will work. Whatever, let's do this. I'm sure my tax dollars are paying for this they are not. So that... Anyway, they live. They live for some reason. For some fucking stupid-ass reason. So they can love, I guess.
Starting point is 00:39:31 Oh. Mothman, you made them love each other. Ew. Mothman, next time maybe just don't. He's got incredible lung capacity. There's a Wilhelm scream during the collapsing of the bridge, which I like and hate in equal measures. The reason I love it so much is that it is a thing that people try to slip into movies. Yeah, and you can't because everyone knows it.
Starting point is 00:39:56 I want to point out one more really unrealistic thing about this that I just remember after the Wilhelm scream, He dives into the water. He swims, swim, swim, swim, swim, so deep. So deep, so deep. He gets into the police car. He gets into the back seat. He takes out the divider. You know, that's what keeps the criminals from the police. You can't just pop it out. No, you can't just thee. He just pops it out. When he was in the front seat, I was like, did I fucking miss something when he went back outside of the car? What the fuck just happened?
Starting point is 00:40:28 Pulled it right off. So silly. Ah, anyway. Mothman, Bravasy. Mothman's. Um, kid he have a phone call? Hello? Um, soon you will rate a movie.
Starting point is 00:40:41 Who is this? It's a... Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id Id? It's Idris Elba? No. Hi, hi there. What are you doing on my phone? Ingrid Cole? No, no. Mothman. Uh, four. So much buildup. Four. The thing is, the thing is just, you could make a scary movie out of it. Maybe. One might argue this is not a horror movie. No, I think it's a thriller, probably.
Starting point is 00:41:13 Or a suspense movie? It's not very sufficedl is it? It's a suspension bridge. Yeah. Yeah, it just... I think a four might be generous. Okay, tell me where you're coming down. I'm gonna give it a two. Wow. That bad. Yeah. Okay. I thought the middle of it was a real, real sloggy times to get through. You weren't a big fan of conversations, the film?
Starting point is 00:41:41 No. It's literally everything is done in conversation. Like, literally it's just people talking in different venues. I wondered if, yeah, I think if this movie was handled by a different director, that it may have been a better, creepy movie. Who directed this film? I do not know. Indred Cole. Ah. Mark Pellington, who has also directed Going All the Way, Arlington Road. I actually liked that movie. I have never heard of that movie.
Starting point is 00:42:17 I liked it in high school, so who knows if it's still good. And then some you two movies. Some, I'm sorry, you said you two movies? As in, but no. Rattle and hum? He also seems to have done some, perhaps documentaries about Pearl Jam and Alice in Chains and in excess. I could see that his cutting style working fine for that. Yeah, that's a really good point. He's also done a bunch of music videos. Let me pick one that I think you'll like.
Starting point is 00:42:49 Okay. Oh, Pearl Jam. Nice. Drive by R. them. Shut them down. Pupilet. thrown.
Starting point is 00:42:58 Okay. Okay. Rooster by Allison Chains Screaming Trees Butterfly. I am not familiar with that Tomorrow silver chair I am I am not familiar you have left my familiarity several Bon Jovi videos Mm-hmm Wow he's done a lot of music videos. It's cool. You can find that niche, man. Stick with it. Demi Lovato. That's a person.
Starting point is 00:43:29 Threstein Current. He did three, he did an Imagine Dragons video last year. Nice. So whatever. Do your music videos, yeah, movie sucked. Can Irid Cole take you to a little place he likes to call... Mailback. Yeah, I guess. Mailback!
Starting point is 00:43:48 Hi. Hi, hi, Injid. This is from our friend Tessa? Of the Gouli's episode? Mm-hmm. The one and only? Tessa asks, what would your ultimate montage to be if you were in a horror action movie and reach the point where you were stocking up on weapons, training, plotting. Ooh.
Starting point is 00:44:06 Mmm. Damn, Tessa, that's a good question. Can't reuse you're the best around by the karate kid. I guess that's not the one that the winner takes it all as the montage scene, right? No, that's uh, that's over the top. Okay, I have two and I don't know which is better. Okay. Girls just want to have fun. Nice. Or, nice. Right now by Van Halen. And I want to tell you a funny story about that. The Maxipeds, when I was in that band, were briefly obsessed with the song right now and we were playing a show in New York and we were going to pull up to the venue just blasting the song from our van.
Starting point is 00:44:47 But we got super lost and we were just like driving around the block over and over blasting right now and like trying to figure out where we were and it was sort of like before GPS on phones and someone had like like map quest directions. We like had to stop at a gas station and ask for directions but we're just listening to right now on repeat turned up really loud so actually I think I'm going with right now. Okay yeah yeah it's bad it's a bad choice you this is gonna be a deep cut okay it's by the metal band High Spirits okay and it's a song called Full Power all right and it will get you pumped while you're montaging go listen to it, guys. Yeah, give high spirits a little listen. You're going to enjoy yourselves. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:45:28 That is a really fun question. I would also really like to know what Tessa's is. Tessa, right in. Tessa, let me know. Or just text me. It's fine. Would you like another question? Sure. Vilter! VLT RR on Instagram. Who would make the better antagonist in a horror movie?
Starting point is 00:45:47 Morrissey? Ah, Danzy? Or Rollins? Rollins. Yeah. Morrissey is the worst, obviously, for obvious reasons, but he's not a good horror movie, worst. He's just an asshole. Oh, that's your horror movie guy who's whining that nobody likes him. And also it's just like being super racist. Sure, there's that.
Starting point is 00:46:06 Rollins, I feel is unpredictable enough that you're gonna, you're gonna be afraid of him. He's gonna be quippy. Yeah, he is. But he's gonna think they're so clever. Fancies himself a stand-up comedian. Ooh, gross. What about you? What about you, what do Um... Danzig is a good villain. I think he's just petting his cats, you know? And then petting his pecks.
Starting point is 00:46:30 Yeah, I think Danzig is of the three the most harmless. All documented. All true. I can't wait for his movie to come out so we can do it on this podcast. Yeah, that's going to be really fun. Or it's going to be really gross. Yeah, probably both. Okay, one more. Give me one more. One more. One more. Right, right. I'm on a roll. I love these questions. Thank you so much for soliciting them and thanks to everyone who sends them in. This one is from Ben, a friend of the podcast from Neon Brainix podcast. Oh, go listen to them. He asked, favorite movie filmed in Pittsburgh? Mothman Prophees. Probably Silence of the Lambs. Okay. Oh yeah, that's a real good one. Yeah. I've never seen any of the Batman. Mm-mm. Mm-mm. Yeah, I'm going to Science the Lambs. Okay. You? Okay. Oh, yeah. That's a real good one. Yeah. I've been. Oh, the the Bani. Oh. I. Oh, the. Oh, the. Oh, the. Oh, the. Starting point is 00:47:26 You? Okay. A bunch of that Romero stuff is not filmed in Pittsburgh. It's all like Evan City and all that stuff. That counts. I think that counts. Those people are Steelers fans. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:47:38 That's Pittsburgh's limits?
