Werewolf Ambulance: A Horror Movie Comedy Podcast - Episode 253- C.H.U.D. (1984)

Episode Date: November 4, 2019

In this week's episode, we talk about a bunch of people we think we might know from other things with the 1984 sci-fi horror film "C.H.U.D." Special topics for your consideration include: a deep dive ...on the career and sartorial choices of one Mr. Daniel Stern, a lil bit of baseball talk, sitcoms, cop 'tude, signs of a toxic relationship and the kind of loopiness that we can only muster with a rare afternoon recording session. If you like "C.H.U.D." and movies like it, you may also enjoy Episode 50- "The Blob," Episode 171- "Ghoulies" or maybe Episode 180- "The Stuff." Starting point is 00:00:00 Boy is street cleaning a scam? You think? I do. You get tickets for it and nothing happens. Oh, that's true. That's true. Yeah. I thought you meant the actual act of cleaning the street.
Starting point is 00:00:13 Because, uh, fun fact. If I could find a video that's just a street cleaner sweeping up stuff. Oh, that's true. that's the true. I thought you meant the actual act of cleaning the street, because, fun fact, if I could find a video that's just a street cleaner sweeping up stuff, I would watch for hours. Well, you can watch the intro of this movie over and over because that's what it is. It's a street cleaner.
Starting point is 00:00:34 Yeah, how does it work? Is it like a vacuum? Yeah, there's a like, well, apparently newspapers and tin cans. Yeah, so then why is my block full of cigarette butts and Cheetos bags? Well, that's New York Trash. Oh, Pittsburgh Trash is probably harder to pick up somehow. When I lived in Philly, I was convinced that there was a day that I wasn't aware of, that everybody else knew about where they would just go outside and shake their trash cans into the street. Because the shit that you would find just laying in the street,
Starting point is 00:01:06 it's like, isn't? That's an empty shrimp cocktail. Where are the shrimp? They got eaten? I was done with that shrimp cocktail. Just put it right here. Like those flossers, man. Alan recently texted me a picture of a flosser on top of a solar panel. I was so fucking depressed. I think it was just
Starting point is 00:01:25 like some half-ass Frankenstein was trying to recreate a new fluster. Bride of flosser. That's cute though, if you think about them getting married. Oh Katie, what are we talking about this week? We're talking about the movie Should. Which is either cannibalisticistic humanoid underground dwellers or contamination hazard urban dictionary. What is it? It's urban dictionary. Yeah you can go to and you can find out what a blumkin is. What is the D? Disposal. Disposal.
Starting point is 00:02:08 Contamination hazard, ermid disposal. What I love is that neither of them really work. No, neither of them are like actual sentences that you would make an acronym out of. What I also love, and never realized before and all the times I've watched Chud, because this was not my first time. I imagine that deeply. When the guy's like what does chud mean off the cuff the motherfucker went cannibalistic underground underground, their credibilistic humanoid underground dwellers. Just figured it. He was just like bam bam bam yeah he knew it. Wilson. Wilsen? Wilsen? Wilsen, their dick. Wilsen, the dick. Wilsen, they? Not Daniel Stern. No, he's kind of a dick. Even like my favorite dick in this
Starting point is 00:02:51 movie is the lady officer who's just like tooed in so hard. If you had that tood at your job you would be fired in minutes. Everything she does is the eyebrow version of a double bird salute. Absolutely. And doing it right into the camera too. Just looking at the camera, rolling her eyes with the rolliest of rolls, her eyebrows are on the back of her head. Like it's amazing. For nothing, no reason, we have no reason to know why she is disgruntled. So the thing that I've come up my rationale for this, because Missy was like, why is that lady so pissed? I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I th. I th. I thi thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I'm thi, I'm thi, I'm thi, I'm doing thi. I'm doing it's thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. And doing thi, thi, thi, th. And doing th. And doing it th. And doing it th. And doing it thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi So the thing that I've come up my rationale for this, because Missy was like, why is that lady so pissed?
Starting point is 00:03:26 Yeah. I was like, I think it's because that cop is treating her like a secretary. Right. It's like, make this phone call for me. She's like, fuck you. Yeah, that makes sense. That's just my rationale. the fact that she just has a tude. So tudy. They were like, this is New York. Is it, this isn't a sound set? Because it is definitely a sound stage. Sound stage. Soundstage. The
Starting point is 00:03:53 more you say that, mm-mm. No, no. Say it. Sound stage? Sound stage? Yeah, yeah. I do want to point out that this is the whitest New York has ever been. Oh yeah. There are zero people of color in this movie. I know. How did they do it? I mean by filming it on a sound stage. So this film stars the pairing of John Hurd and Daniel Stern a few years before they got back together to do Home Alone.
Starting point is 00:04:22 Oh, that's right. He's the dead in Home Alone. Holy shit. He's dead. He's also, I think, a 9-11 truther. Oh, what? That's when you go to his Wikipedia page, the picture of him is speaking at a 9-11 Truth conference. What? And I also saw him in LAX, maybe like 2013. Oh wow. I was like, ah, it's Peter McAllister. I find him very off-putting.
Starting point is 00:04:48 It just as a human being, or in this movie specifically. Both. Yeah. I think his eyes are a little too close together. That's where the truth lies. The truth lies and not having peripheral vision. It also stars Kim Grist, which I feel like I knew from others that are maybe greased. Yeah, she looked so familiar, but I didn't know her from anything. She's in Brazil and Manhunter, which I've seen both of those. I have not seen either. And Homeward Bound too, of course, lost in San Francisco. I didn't realize there was a sequel to that. Keep your pets indoors guys. Did they
Starting point is 00:05:27 fucking move across the country and leave their pets behind or something like that? And that's the incredible journey is the pets being like no you will not leave us 3,000 miles away or something like that? That's not the one where they murdered a thousand dogs and cats to make. Don't read the Wikipedia. That's where the true horror lives. It truly is. No laws in that Japan. Yeah, stern and heard back together for the first time. It's also got a ridiculous amount of holy shit that guy. Who do you mean? Well, the ultimate being, holy shit, that's John Goodman.
Starting point is 00:06:04 Blaine a sleazy cop. John Goodman, yeah. Playing a sleazy cop. He has like four lines. Yeah. When did, when, did he get famous from Roseanne? Yeah, okay, and when was that? Oh, God. That had been late 80s, right?
Starting point is 00:06:15 Oh, yeah. to 97. Yeah. Yeah. I wish Rosan was wasn't. I th. I wasn't. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. th comedy as well as like movies like Clue and things like that. For sure. But like that show was so funny. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And she fucking sucks. And it nailed a lot of aspects of like normal middle class life. Right. Totally. In the Midwest. Yeah. Oh yeah. No, all the comedies of our childhood are fucking ruined. The Cosby show is done. Oh yeah, yeah. I mean, I feel like you could probably still go back to Roseanne and just be like, maybe she wasn't a nutbar yet. Yeah, that's fair. Because that show, yeah, any way, sorry.
Starting point is 00:06:53 No, tell me about that show. I don't have that much to say about, I don't have that much to say a lot of thuuuuuu p push thu thu that pushed thu that pushed to push to push to push to push to push to push to push to push to push to push to push to push to push to push to push to push to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to th. tho, tho, to, to, try, to, try, to, try, to, to too. to to to to to to to to to to to crazy stuff like it talked about, was there a teen pregnancy thing in it too? Probably? Yeah, there was a, it pushed a lot of boundaries. And like, like, just having your star be a woman. Right. A funny woman who's not very attractive. Oh, like a chubby, funny, funny dude, and like, yeah. Although I guess funny, chuby funny dudes are kind of der-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-s, the th-s, thu, thu-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-s, thi-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a, was thi, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was a thi-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-sa-sa-na-na-na-na-na-sa-na-na-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-tooa-a-a-a-a-a- dudes are kind of der-re-ger.
Starting point is 00:07:25 I was like, oh the honeymooners and king of queens. Oh yes, and the comedy stylings of king of queens. You ever see that shy? Uh, no, no, no, I'm not. No. It's not for me. No, it's for someone, but not you, or me, or anyone we know, presumably. Turns out I'm not a big situation comedy guy.
Starting point is 00:07:49 No, they're not that funny. Well, I mean, some are. Yeah. I feel like, uh, that sort of NBC boom a few years ago of like 30 Rock and Parks and recreation. Oh sure. Yeah. I guess I never think I like. Those aren't sit. Are they not sitcoms? I think they are.
Starting point is 00:08:07 The office? I mean, I love the good place. And I suppose that's a situation comedy. I always think of a sitcom is like, everyone goes into this room. Yeah. Full house, you mean? Exactly. Anyway, Chad. So there's, we start off with the woman walking her dog who gets snatched by something
Starting point is 00:08:26 in the sewer. Ma'am, get on the sidewalk. It's not, the street isn't for feet. Feet or not for kicking, the street is not for feet. Get on the sidewalk. Like, why is she walking down the middle of the street? She would have been fine if she'd just stayed on the sidewalk. I don't know. I'm a police detective's wife. I can go wherever I want. I'm Mrs. Bosch, goddammit. Yeah, she gets snatched and then we, the Chud logo just like, layers down onto the, uh,
Starting point is 00:08:57 onto the manhole. That was good. Yeah. And then we get the street sweeper. John Hurd taking photos of homeless people from his apartment. Because he just can't stop taking photos of homeless people? Yeah, this movie is largely about his addiction to photos of homeless people and like his preferences for certain types of photos of homeless people. Like the guy, his colleague or whatever is like, just give me old photos of homeless people that I can run for this and he's like, no you need new photos of homeless people, these photos of homeless people. Well. Like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. this. this. this, this, this. Yeah, this, this. This. This. This, this. This. This. This, this. This, this. This. This, this. This, this. this. this. this. this. this. this, this, this, th. This, th. This, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the the the this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, can run for this and he's like no you need new photos of homeless people these photos of homeless people like well he seems to be hung up on the fact that he used to be a fashion photographer and now he's an artist or he or a journalist I guess yeah well do you think he's got fired from
Starting point is 00:09:36 being a fashion photographer for being such a mother fucking asshawl while he's doing it? no because of fashion photographers. Fair. He's just being so unprofessional in that shoot. That's his wife? His wife? Yeah. And he's just yelling. Yeah. What the fuck? Yeah. I mean, go watch our YouTube video where we call the guy a jerk. Yeah, a jork actually, but close enough. Sorry for all poor rhyme. I do love the scene where she's putting makeup on her butt and he's like, what are you putting makeup on your ass for? And she's like, I've got a pimple.
Starting point is 00:10:12 Why are you putting it on your ass? That's where the pimple is. She was funny and charming. Yeah, I liked her a lot. Yeah. Yeah. And she actually was a model before. I believe that. It's very beautiful. She is very thin. It's very, very thin. I remember in my mind's eye, I remember seeing her boobs a bunch in this movie, but you do not. No.
Starting point is 00:10:33 There'd be no reason for her to. Oh, there's a shower scene in an 80s movie. Oh, right. That's true. Did you buy her and John Hurd as a couple? Oh no, no, no, no, no, no, he's a grosso. Yeah, yeah, he sucks. The movie, I think, wants us to find him attractive, but he's like a, like, very average looking man. Yeah, it wants us to find him attractive.
Starting point is 00:10:55 It wants him to find, us to find him moral. Yeah, where there is like, he has a morality for the most specific that, like, homeless people are in need, that is the only thing I legit care about, because every interaction with his partner is just, you need to leave him. You've got to go now. Like, the scene where they're talking about whether or not they should have the baby. I was like, this conversation should tell you, you should not have that baby. Do you want to have a baby? I don't know. What do you want? Yeah, that's an, I mean, to be that child and know your parents have that conversation is sad. Yeah, because you're
Starting point is 00:11:33 going to watch this movie and see this documentary about your parents. The movie early on sets up that the basement in their apartment building is spooky scary. Yeah. Which we find out because he brought his stuff up and left all of her stuff down the and what th th th th th th th th th th th th th th to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to th th th th th th th th th th th th tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho to to to to tho that the basement in their apartment building is spooky scary. It's definitely spooky scary. Yeah. Which we find out because he brought his stuff up and left all of her stuff down and she had to go down and get it. Cool guy. Go go go. Leave that man. Yeah. Leave that man. Yeah. Leave that man. Yeah. that man. He's sucks so bad. Kids. Kids. tu too thu that turtu. Leave that. Lea. Leave. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Lea. Le. Le. Le. Le. Le. Le. Le. Le. Kids. Le. You're not going to be able to fix them. No. There's no fixing a human being. Especially when they're middle-aged. It's over. Yeah, and not willing to work on themselves. No. And just having such a bad tude, he and that cop lady should get together and just be miserable miserable all the time. Yeah, for sure. Oh, the scene where the homeless person, I think. the the homeless. the homeless. the homeless. the homeless. the homeless. the homeless. the homeless. the the homeless. the the the the the homeless. the the the the the the the homeless. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. the the the th. the the the the th. the the the th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. t the trash and looks over and the trash just explodes. In that like box
Starting point is 00:12:28 dumpster pile? Yeah, and there's just a hole and blood. Yeah, what was it? What was it? Was the chud? They ate a homeless person. Oh, I see. Do you want to talk to me? the chud, uh, welcome to my TED Talk about chud. Yeah, that's what I want. I want a quick TED talk about chud. What are they? What do they look like? Where do they come from? Where do they go?
Starting point is 00:12:53 Where do they come from? Cud-eyed chud? Cud. Cotton-eyed chud are former homeless people who have been affected by the radiation, radioactive materials that the government has dumped into the sewers and train tunnels of New York City. And they turn them into stretching neck monsters. Why their necks get so stretchy? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:19 Yeah. Because radiation. Gotcha. There, at one point, before we see the guy's next stretch, we see that he's just got like Rollins neck. He just has a real big neck. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:34 You think Rollins could do that? Get that real long neck if you just strained it enough? I don't know. He thinks he could do comedy. So he could probably think we can do whatever he wants now. Alan, we all think we can do comedy. It's the problem with this world. I do often laugh at his lyrics from the 90s. That's pretty comedic. Comedic. If you could see the you that I'd see, if you could see the you that I see, you'd see yourself so much differently, believe me. That sounds like a quote on an Instagram photo of like a setting sun over the beach.
Starting point is 00:14:07 And it's just like, give yourself a little space. You know what I mean? Say it again? If you could see the you that I see, you'd see yourself so much differently. Believe me. I love the tag. It's sort of a nice sentiment until he's like, no, bitch, I'm right. There's also a song where he's talking about addiction. It's talking about the monkey on your back.
Starting point is 00:14:31 And he just starts yelling the monkey's eyes or your eyes. When you said addiction, I really thought you were going to say something about a dick of some kind, because that's how my life works. You know, a dick shit when your shin turns into a penis. Yes, you're a dick sh- Oh my god, I just jumped out the window. We should be allowed to record in the afternoons. I feel like we're, um, we're like somehow loopier than usual. It's more energy or something. I'm gonna just chomp the top of this microphone off. We flash to the police station where Bosch is yelling at Sanderson? Quick question, he related to the Sanderson sisters? Winifred, yep, that's his, that's, uh, yeah, their brother.
Starting point is 00:15:15 The lost brother. I believe that actor was on Saturday Night Live at some point, yeah. He's another one of those, what the fuck do I know you from? This movie was so full of those. Yeah for sure. Did you know Bosch from anything? No I did not. Should I have? No I don't know. That's why I'm asking you. Oh he was on Star Shippers. Oh of course he was. He was FBI agent Stuckey in Home Alone 3 so that's three people who have appeared in the Home Alone franchise. And Macaulay Calkin played one of the Chud in us. There was a baby Chud. It was Macaulay Cod.
Starting point is 00:15:49 That's weird. I'm actually surprised Justin wasn't a Calkin kid. Yeah, he looked like he should have been a Calkin, honestly. So did his mom. I kept calling her Nora Nietzscheen because she was real close to Chloris, what is the name? Chloris Leachman? Yeah, that's the one. Why couldn't I grab that? She had a Chloris Leachman vibe to her. Interesting. I love the Bosch is like, all right, stop looking for those people. We got other stuff to do. Yeah. They're missing. Stop looking for them. Right. They're missing. They're missing. Stoping. They're they're they're missing. They're they're missing. Stop. Stop. They're they're they're they're missing. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. They're they're they're they're missing. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. Stop. They're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're the the the the the the the the the the the th. th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. the th. thi. thi. thi. The cop situation in this movie is confusing. So like, sure.
Starting point is 00:16:30 Yeah. He's a captain of a precinct. The officers in his precinct want to work on these missing persons. Because they believe them to possibly be murders. Yeah. And he's like, no, they're just missing persons. Just don't just let him go. We have other things to do. But then the higher up cops, wait, I think I just got this movie confused with piranha for
Starting point is 00:16:52 a second, because they are not investing in aqua arena. Forget it. Well, the higher up cops want him to stop looking into the homeless disappearance later on. Right. Because the the the the the the the the the their their their their their their their their they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're their. they're they're they're they're they're they're they're their. But their. But their. But their. But their. But their. But their. But their. But their. But their. their. But their. their. their. their. But their. their. their. their. they. they. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're they're they're they're they're their. their. their. their their their their their their their their their their higher. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. the higher-up cops want him to stop looking into the homeless disappearance later on. Right. Because they're investing in aqua arena, I think. I think it's just saying like everybody is dirty. Yeah. Except for the streetcups, they're totally cool. The guys, the guys in the blue shirts.
Starting point is 00:17:19 They're the ones you can trust. But the further up you get the food chain. I think think think think think think they they think they are they're all they're all their all their all their all all all their all all all all all. their all. their all. their their their their their their their their their th. th. their th. th. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. the the the the the the the the the the chain. I think they're all fairly untrustworthy, but okay. New York cops in 1984? Oof. Saints. Sains. Undergrounders, people who live underground. That's a line in this movie. Undergrounders, people who live underground. I do love that because it is a, like, the fact that there's miles of abandoned sewers and train lines underneath New York City and people legit do live there. I can't remember the name of the documentary all I remember is that DJ Shadow did the soundtrack for it. But I can't call mole people but I don't remember but there was about people who lived in the abandoned like tunnels under New York yeah. That is nuts. How do you do it th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th do it th do it th do it's th do it's thi thi thi that's tho tho tho tho tho the the the the the the the the the the the the thi thi thi th. th. thi th th th th th th th th th th th th th th i th i thi th i thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi the the the to to the toean. toean. thean. thean. thean. thean. thean. thean. thin thin the the the abandoned like tunnels under New York. Yeah. It's fucking nuts. That is nuts.
Starting point is 00:18:06 How do you live? Into it, get by? Yeah, I guess so. I mean, especially, I think it happened after Reagan shut down all the psych hospitals and stuff. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But I love the scene where like, Miss Monroe gets arrested because she's trying to snatch the cop's gun. Yeah. For Victor. Or Hugo? Why, Victor and Hugh, like, it's so unsubtle and so weird?
Starting point is 00:18:30 Yeah, it was like, is that intentional? It has to be? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Well, are they just like, this is a nod to Victor Hugo? He wrote, what, the man in the iron mask and hunched back? Is he also also also also also also the the the hea he he he he he he he he he he he he also also also he he he he he he he he he he man in the iron mask and hunchback. A hunchback of Notre Dame? Is he also the three musketeers? Is that Victor Hugo? Ooh, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:18:48 Let me look. I don't know. That's why I said, let me look. I'm not Wikipedia. Okay, Katie. Okay, Katie. Oh, no, you're not my Google home. No, that was Alexander Dumas. Okay, all right. Dumas wrote him, might have written the man on the Iron Mass too, then.
Starting point is 00:19:05 Hang on. Yeah, uh, yeah, Victor Hugo wrote, Lemuz, as they say, in the hunchback. Well, then that makes perfect sense. Yeah, that does make a lot more sense. All right, we'll take it. Is Bosch being named that, a non to Hieronym Hironousus Bosch, the painter of the Garden of Earthly Delights and all of those crazy religious. Oh, I mean, I thought that was a given.
Starting point is 00:19:29 They say his name 400 times in this movie. Bosch! It's like a gym locker room where everyone just has the last name. Hey, Murph! Are you being Daniel Stern there? Because that was a good Daniel Stern. Can we get into Daniel Stern? After I, yes, because he's guilty of this too, but everyone in this movie saying, photographer, which I fucking hate.
Starting point is 00:19:55 I know that my diction is not great, diction. I know that I have some linguistic issues as a result of growing up in Southwestern Pennsylvania, but photographer is not a word. Okay, talk about Daniels Dern. I just want to get into his shirt. I really want to just get in and swim around in that shirt. What is happening in that shirt? I mean, granted, he's doing hot work.
Starting point is 00:20:17 He's cooking food stains. You're gonna get pit stains. Right. Sure. The matching back and front sweat the the shirt combined with the food stains. And this just, ooh. Oof. Oof. Was this one of his first works?
Starting point is 00:20:36 I believe so. I think this is an early stern. It shows. It does. Don't you think? He's doing that thing of like, I'm acting. I'm just angry. I'm gonna stay angry. Right, he's not a lot of range there.
Starting point is 00:20:48 No. But angry for a reason? Bosch is always dicking him around. He was in at least nine films before this one. I don't know what kind of role he had. One was as Hari Krishna, so who knows. Oh shit, he wasn't breaking away. Yeah, that was his first film. Cyril. Is that the bicycle movie? Yeah. I've never seen it because I don't know how to ride a bike. But. Oh yeah, that's
Starting point is 00:21:14 why we're meeting up in the afternoon. I'm going to give you bike lessons. I think it's time for me to learn quite. I the their their their their tho. I tho. I tho. I th. What's he doing these days? I'm still working. Is Rookie the Year the one with the kid breaks his arm? Yes it is. Rowan Gardner. That's a good-a-a-a-it-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a my soul. Asco Bucco's. Yeah, how they doing? Well baseball's basically over. They did not make the postseason. What they're, uh, the owner left, right? The manager. Oh, I thought the guy who owned the team. I mean you know me I just go on and on about how pirates ownership is their problem. I know every season. It's like you're speaking to a brick wall.
Starting point is 00:22:30 You're just saying pirates ownership is the problem. We can draft well. We can even maybe develop talent. But it just gets it gets a coach by other teams. It gets it gets just wasted away. Look at Garrett Cole. Look at Tyler Glass now. I can. I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I can barely stop looking at him. Look at Charlie Morton for Christ's sake. You know you can literally be making up names right now? Those are three starting pictures, but also look at Jimmy James. Look at Billy Bosch. Oh man, Fliptingwich just came on here. We're gonna move him? He was such a good short stop. They never should have moved him to a catcher. You can't do that. You can't make that move. No, or long stop. I don't think he could play that either. He was not short enough to be a long stop. You guys like baseball? Because I'm confused by it.
Starting point is 00:23:21 Beautiful game. So she's stealing a gun for Victor.. th. the th. th. th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. They's, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. toeee toe toe toe toe toeee toeeeeea. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. Beautiful, Squirt, beautiful game. So she's stealing a gun for Victor, and she's, because Victor wants a gun because he got bit by something, how gross is that leg wound? Super gnar. Yeah. It's super gnarly and then there are all these photos of it that John Hurd has taken, but for some reason they're all in black and white. And I was like, you're not, that's not, that's not, that's not, that's not, that's not, that's not, that's not, that's not, that's not, that's not, that's not, that's not, that's not, that's not, that's not, that's not, that's not, that's that's that's that's that's not, that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's a that's a that's a that's, that's, that's, that, that, and white. And I was like, you're not, that's not really giving us what I want from that leg wound. You know what I mean?
Starting point is 00:23:48 For sure, I thought, I thought they were, the contrast was too high. Yeah, they were black and white. That's, that's bad art. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But also he like, is not of the word, like a monster. As a person. It's the most specific morality ever. So weird. Daniel Stern calls into report people missing.
Starting point is 00:24:12 So Bosch comes down to visit him. And they're immediately just like, ah, fuck you. Well, fuck you too. I need your help. Yeah, let's be buddies. Yeah, let's be buddies. by the end of the movie. Maybe lovers? I'm not sure what's happening. They were deeply, deeply entrenched with each other by the end of this movie. I'm into it. The turning point is when Bosch tells Daniel Stern, what is his name? Sheppard? Daniel Stern's name? Yeah. He is, yeah, A. J. Shepard. Who did play shortstop, if I'm not mistaken for the pirates. I think you're thinking of a brief period of time in which Andy LaRoche played shortstop.
Starting point is 00:24:48 Of course I am. Not to be confused with his brother Adam LaRoche. We had both of them at one point and they were both terrible. Can I tell you one more thing? Okay, so in that period where we were really bad and had Adam LaRoche, they were like a hunting guys. They like to go hunting the LaRoche brothers. So Adam LaRoche bought all of the other pirates like camo underarmour because they were going to sneak up on the NL Central. Spoilers, they did not sneak up on the NL Central. They did not have a winning season. Is it weird that Bosch doesn't report his wife missing to get more resources on these missing people?
Starting point is 00:25:28 Because if a cop, a captain's wife goes missing, like you better believe they're going to look for her, right? Yes, a hundred percent. Yeah. It's also strange that he's telling the cops to stop looking for missing people. I know, like he is in control of that. Oh my god, what a shithead. But he's also one of our, everyone in this movie is a hero, but like actually doesn't really do much of anything, and does a lot of things that are not good. So really there are no heroes.
Starting point is 00:25:57 No. No. Mm-hmm. Okay. Why do I have suck, did Monroe tell a cop to suck a duck pig? Did Monroe tell a cop to suck a duck pig? And one point Miss Monroe? I think so. Somebody did.
Starting point is 00:26:12 Suck a duck pig? Suck a duck pig? Suck a duck pig. So there's a cop tailing Mrs. Monroe and George when they're going back into the sewer, and the cop like gets up to the edge, sn sn sn sn sn sn sn sn sn snthem. Can't say I blame him. No, on the, I mean, I don't know how much subway riding you've done in your life. A bit. On the best day, they smell like piss. Yeah, on like their perfect day. It smells like a non-hot day. Oh man. the subway in Philly in the summertime. Brutal. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:26:46 Public bathrooms are not a bad idea, everybody. No, agree. Yeah. We see Victor's all messed up. Hugo is trying to kill everybody who comes into the tunnel, which I'm into. Yeah. Let me stop here. I think that for all the possibilities of this movie, they treat homeless people really well. Agree. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:27:05 Like they're portrayed, other than the one like crazed PTSD dude who's like stabbing a table with a knife so it's like may have gone too far this time. A little bit over the line, but it's 1984 also. Yeah, yeah. I think other than turning them into cannibalistic humanoid underground dwellers. Well done. Thank you. I th th th th th had to. Yeah, I think it's sensitive enough. Yeah. Yeah. So yeah, we see them, or Victor still wants a gun, and then we kind of cut to Bosch and Shepard going into the sewer because Shepard's like, oh I want to show you a thing. Yeah. And he's got, they find a giger counter laying on the ground. And... What does that measure? Radiation?
Starting point is 00:27:45 Yeah. And I like the scene, the almost aliens-esque scene. Have you seen aliens? Is the second one? It is the second one. I think I've seen it in enough pieces to say I've seen it. It's the allegory for Vietnam. But, so there's the great scene in that movie where they get motion detectors and there's like a beep as it's coming towards them and then it hits a wall and then keeps coming and it's
Starting point is 00:28:10 really terrifying. Yeah. And in this movie, like I really like the Geiger counter like going ballistic and then not and like running away and then you hear a roar in the distance. Yeah. I think this movie is fairly scary, except for the actual design of the Chuds. I mean, they're called Chudds. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:28:30 Yeah. Meanwhile, George is teaming up with Murphy, Murray, someone, a middle-aged, floppy-haired, theirdue. Who is also just a total dick? He, but it's okay because he's being a dick to George and George is also a dick, so you like don't care? Oh yeah, it's like dick on dick action. Yeah, yeah, but not that kind. So there's like these two sets. It's like good thing all these men are on the case, you know, we have like these two sets
Starting point is 00:28:56 of men investigating the, uh, yeah. I did like, Murphy was giving me like American David Warner vibes. Exactly. I think he was a bunco David Warner and was intended to be. Yeah. Yeah. So yeah, they're now teamed up because Murph is just trying to find a story. He just needs a story. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, I mean. And we talked about when George agrees to do the photo shoot for his partner, and then bales on it because he gets a phone call? No, I think because he just got mad. I think because I got into a fight, right? Which he never apologizes for. No, he gets a phone call. He checks his voicemail.
Starting point is 00:29:36 Oh, right. Because he's got the beeper thing that, like, does anybody with a cell phone understand what the fuck is happening right now? Because he dials into his phone number and then holds like a dialer up to the phone phone and it makes a tone that sends him to his voicemail. Oh, which is on the tape in his house. Right. And that's when he gets on the message, Miss Monroe calls him from the police precinct. He's her one phone call. Oh right, he goes to bail her out and that's how the, yeah, that's how everyone gets on to him. But he just, I like that scene because his wife or whatever is watching him leave and she's getting makeup applied and like turns and the lipstick is just drawn across her face.
Starting point is 00:30:13 And then also like who did the rest of that shoot? This is her career because later when she's pregnant and she's they're deciding whether to have the baby, he's like, and the's your career. You're already trashing her career by acting like a fucking dick while she's on set when she brought you there. Yeah. And then leaving, leaving them high and dry. Yeah, what an asshole. It's your career. I obviously don't care about it. Yeah, right.
Starting point is 00:30:39 Is there a part of you that's just like, God, I hope George dies. Oh my God, I wanted I want George that I want that George that I want that I want that I want that George that I want that I want that I want that I want that George that I want that I want that I want that George. that George. that I want that that George. that George. that George. that that that that that that that that that that. that that that that that that that that that. that. that that. that. that that that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that that th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. th. th. the. th. th. that that that. that. that. that. thatto die. And I wanted her to raise that baby alone with the landlady and Justin. They could be like a cute little family. Oh, that would be nice? Wouldn't that be nice? Yeah, yeah, yeah. And with the girl that we meet later on, she could join the family as well. Which girl? Again, an opportunity to kill a child, did not do it. Well done, Judd. Did get her a little comatose, though, or at least catatonic, I guess. Oh, man, that seems so good.
Starting point is 00:31:12 And then, okay, so, and then Daniel Stern is being followed by a tough. Oh, yeah, that works for the government or whatever. Okay, he's just doing these, like, he doing these weird flirt things, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, like, and, and, like, like, and, like, like, like, and then, and thi. And, thi. thi. thi. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, and, and, thi, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, thi. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thin, th. th. th. th. th He's just doing these like, he's just doing these weird flirt things, like taking his coin out of the payphone and swallowing it. And I was like, that's a weird flirt. Like, if it works, it works, but that is weird. Is that like when you're in third grade and a boy pushes you and if they like you. Pull your piggy tail. That was a weird fucking choice. Yeah. And he there, he, their, the, the, the, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that's, that's like, that's like, that's like, that's like, that's like, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that's like, th. that's like, th. th. th. th. And he never says anything. And also he never like, Daniel Stern never gets to like get revenge on him or anything. No, when the guy locks him in the like, the crawl space underneath his building.
Starting point is 00:31:55 And then just kind of looks around, it's like, the government, man. So Bosch gets a meeting with the higher-ups in the police force and Wilson. And this meeting is great because Daniel Stern puts on his shirt over top of his sweatshirt and I really loved that. And by sweatshirt, I mean the one that's full of sweat. Yeah, not an actual sweatshirt, a shirt of sweat. I don't know why I'm so hung up on how nasty this shirt was, but it really got to me. They really paint him as being nasty and it's it works, yeah. So they go into this
Starting point is 00:32:32 meeting and it's just fucking antagonizing in a like a five-way pentangle of antagonism. Yeah, so so it's we've got Bosch and Shepard and then we've got the police chief I guess. And then the EPA guy and then the NRC guy? Right. The national radiation council commission? Yeah, that's Wilson. Yeah, okay. And they're all just going at each other.
Starting point is 00:33:01 Well, the three like muckety mucks are like, you know, you guys should just stop looking into this. And I love that Daniels Turn has that fucking boot with him. Yeah. Found your boot! Yeah. He just pulls it out from under the table and slaps it on the table. Did he sneak it into the room?
Starting point is 00:33:18 He must, it probably under his shirt, I guess. Oh, man. And this is where Wilson the the cannibalistic or humanoid underground twilers. Oh right, because they say, tell me what Chud stands for, I'll go to the newspapers. That's like the biggest threat in this movie is going to the newspapers. But that, as soon as he said cannibalistic, you're like, well I'm going to to go and clean out the the the newspapersseapersapersapersapersapersapersapersapersapersapersapersapersapersapersapersapersapersapersapersapersapersapers..... Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. Right. So, they's, they're, they're, well, well, well, well, well, well, well, I'm, I'm, I'm, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I's. I's. I's. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. the, I. the, I. the, I'm, I. the, I. the, the, the, the, the, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the they agree that they're going to go and clean out the sewers. And Bosch is like, I'm going to send men down with you. Yeah. With flame throwers.
Starting point is 00:33:54 Does a New York City police precinct have flame throwers? Do they? I hope so. Why on earth would they? You know they don't because because you you you you they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they th because because because because because because because because because because because because because because you've they they they they th you've th you've th you've th you've th you ththe throwers, boys. Why on earth would they? You know they don't because you've never heard the story of the time the cops burnt down an entire neighborhood in New York City. I know. And there's like, there's a guy in this scene when they're watching them on the monitor.
Starting point is 00:34:15 And the guy like goes to hand, he like goes to hand him a cup of the coffee and he doesn't want it and the guy. And the guy.. And the guy. everyone rolling their eyes at the camera? Do they know we're filming? I also love that the cops are willing to kill the guys from the NRC. Yeah. You guys have cameras we have flame-throwers. Yeah. What? Yeah you're gonna kill government officials who are filming you. Okay. Fuucking ridiculous. You're a college graduate, you figure it out. Which also applies that like perhaps Bosch is not a college graduate, but I assume you have to be to be a police captain. Who knows? Who knows? Also one of the guys who has the flame
Starting point is 00:35:01 throwers. I know you're a big fan. He is a police chief in the wire. I do love the wire. Have I ever seen it. I ever seen. Who. Who. Who th. Who th. Who th. Who th. Who th. I do love the wire. Have I ever seen it? Yeah, yeah, you've seen a couple times. You love it. I've never seen it. I'm kind of fucking watch the wires? Should I watch it?
Starting point is 00:35:15 Is it? Should I still watch it? I always get mixed up. What's that? The wire and breaking bad. Because they were like on at the same time and both very popular and I was like, I don't understand either of these. I would go for the wire before breaking bad. The wire is a little bit more of a slice of life. Okay. And breaking bad's a big slice of crazy town. I feel like we've had this conversation before. Come come my lady. Yes. Oh Crazy town, yeah. Was it just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just it just just just just it just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just the the the the the the the the the the th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. Yes. I said Crazytown, yeah. Wasn't just being a weirdo. Can you just finish that line though? Oh, I'd come, come, my lady? I don't know the rest of it. It's a be my butterfly, sugar, baby. The 90s were weird. Isn't that song, that snippet from a red hot chili pepper song?
Starting point is 00:36:03 Maybe. Oh man. The 90s were weird. They were super weird. And now everyone's trying to relive them. And I'm like, do you remember that this is how it ends, like with Crazy Town and UFO pants? I just watched a trailer for a movie that's new to Shutter. I can't remember what it's called right now. But it that it that it's that it's that th. that th. that that th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that, isn't that. that. th. th. thi isn't, isn't, isn't, isn't. thi, thi, thi, thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Oh yes, someone, yes, I was just talking to Tara about this of Ladies Nightmare.
Starting point is 00:36:29 And Allison Hanigan, Willow of Buffy the Vampire Slayer Fame, I think she may have been on a much more popular TV show as well. Oh really? How I met your mother? Oh, was she on the television show? Yeah. Wasn't everybody mad about that show? the the. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Which she definitely was because I just finished Buffy and she definitely wore those. For sure. Oh yeah, so the guys in the sewer of course get attacked by the chud and the flame throwers do nothing to them because they're radioactive monsters I guess. Sure. Let's get into what the chuds look like. Okay. They looked real shitty. Do you like that their eyes light up? I do. Yeah. Yeah. Let th. Let they. Let they. Let's. Let's. Let's. Let's. Let's. Let's. Starting point is 00:37:32 potatoes with pointy mouth. Yeah, pointy sharp teeth mouths. It's not great. And I guess it's just low budget. I love their flippity floppy hands though. Did you? I do. I really do. When they come like come like come like come like come they come they come they come they come they come they come they come they come they come they come they come they come they come they come they come they come they come they come they come they're like they're like they're like their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. theooooooooooooooooooooo. th. th. th. th. the. they're. they're theyity floppy hands though. Did you? I do, I really do. When they come out of the sewer and they're like moving stuff, but they're like four inches longer than their real fingers, so they're just like, blah-blah-blah-blah-blah-blah-bboh. It's very Sesame Street to me, which makes it much less scary. score would probably be better because Sesame Street's music is excellent and the score in this is bananas. Like at one point it's just going, bob, bob, bob, bob, bob, bob, mbub, bobch, chud, mbubb. Like you think I'm not going to keep doing that for the rest of this episode, because it goes on for such a long time in the movie.
Starting point is 00:38:27 B. B-Bah. Buh. Forever. Oh, it's so good. That one. So like, but then like, it just, the men are all unlikable and not investigating well. And Lauren, I think, is the only female character? Oh, Laurie.
Starting point is 00:38:49 Yeah, I think it's Lauren. Uh, it is Lauren. Yeah, you said that I wouldn't have normally corrected you, but you corrected me, so I bet someone calls her Lori at some point. Actually, um, so she like calls the cops about something because like the basement door. Oh because there's a chud in the basement. Oh yeah, she calls the cops and then just hops in the shower. Like would you ever call the police and be like I'll just get naked and just have a nice,
Starting point is 00:39:18 relaxing shower while I wait? Not if I'm calling the cops about the basement chud. Yeah, and also a little a a little the little the little the the the the the the the the the the cops I I I I I the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the about the basement chud. And also, a little tappy tap on the neighbor's store. Made them let him know there's a chud out here. Yeah, maybe let the single woman with a child next door know that like there's a cannibalistic humanoid underground dweller. Just in your house! Even if you don't know that it's a chud, but it's something that's trying to knock a door down? Yeah, just maybe a little heads up would be nice.
Starting point is 00:39:46 Because Justin's in the hallway playing with his ball and his toys. Justin's adorable. He's the worst bowl cut. Ah, as a child who also had that hair cut. Yeah. It's just so blunt. I mean, legit done with a bowl as well. Yeah, sure. Yeah, yeah, yeah. I'd afraid to have that hair cut well into his 20s. Yeah. I, you can't say it, but I just physically reacted to that. But there is that I really love the tension of that scene where like the chuds trying to get the door open and just keeps happening to run out and get another toy. Yeah, yeah, he toy. Yeah, he t, he t, he t, he, he, he, he, he, he, he's, yeah, he's to to, yeah, to to to to to to to to to to to th, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, th, th th th th, yeah, yeah, to to thi, yeah, yeah, th, th, th thi, thi, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to th. Yeah, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, thin, the thin, thin, the thin, thin, thin, the the the the thetrying to get the door open and Justin just keeps happening run out and get another toy. Yeah, he's so cute. I'm sad that he's probably dead and his mom too. Let's let's just believe the fiction that they're still alive.
Starting point is 00:40:34 Okay, but probably the chuds ate them. And like did his mom not hear the banging on the door? She just keeps being like, Justin, dinner and it's like, like what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, what, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, they's like, the, the the they's like, the th. th. th. Yeah? is, he's, the the the the the the the the the the the, the the the the the the the the the the the the, the the the, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. today, today's, today's, today's, today's, today's, today's, today's, th. th. th. th. th. the banging on the door? She keeps being like, Justin, dinner, and it's like, like, what, can you maybe go check? The door is like rattling in its hinges. You don't hear that? It's a small New York apartment. Anyway. Yeah, she didn't seem like she was paying attention to a tonne of stuff.
Starting point is 00:40:59 No, I guess. Yeah, a lot on her plate. A lot of a lot of just of just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. the thi. thi. the thi. the thi. the thi. thi. the thi. the thi. the the the the the th. the the the th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. toooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooom. And, the. Mollon issues. Then we have the diner scene, where John Goodman and another cop are... Dix? They're flirty's to the waitress. They're flirting with the waitress? Everybody knows that if you want to flirt, you pick up a coin and swallow it. Everybody knows that.
Starting point is 00:41:25 Are you single? And if so, are you willing to try that as a flirt and let me know how it goes? Get back to me. You're going to end up with the nickname jingles, because your belly's going to be filled with quarters. You're going to poop that out, and it's going to clink as it hits the toiletoiletoiletoiletoilet to the the the the the the toyoiletoilet the the toyoilet toyoilet the toyoilet tho tho tho tho tho tho tho it's gonna clink as it hits the toilet. And that's worth the price of admission. And you will have been drunk on jello shots when you decided to eat the quarter.
Starting point is 00:41:52 So you may not remember it and you're gonna think you swallowed one of your own goddame teeth. I didn't say swallow a quarter. I said swallow a coin because. Swallow a dime. Let me know how it goes. Let me know how your potential romantic partner liked it. Just choke on a sack of Julia dollar. You're like, oh no, but it was a Susan B. Anyway. So the diner seed, we get the flirtation, like, I can't even remember the corny ass lines he's throwing at her and like, it's just bad, it's just a bad scene. It's an all-around bad scene.
Starting point is 00:42:32 And but then the chud attack the diner. Yeah. And when they show up, there's no bodies in the diner, but the entire thing is covered in blood. And all the windows windows windows the windows the windows the windows the windows the windows the windows the windows the windows the windows the windows th....................................................................................... the. th. th. We. So. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. And. And............................................................................................................................. the..... the.... the... the. the....... the windows are bloated out of it. It's great. It's fucking ridiculous. Which we don't really see any of that. We just see the aftermath pretty much. Sure.
Starting point is 00:42:50 Yeah, which is a little bit of a bummer. That would have been a big ask, I'm sure, for their budget to get into that. So this is leading up City and the EPA are on the scene or the NRC or whatever. And fortunately for Lauren, the cops that came to her building just left the keys in the ignition because she hops in that car and drives away. She drives to other cops, which is fucking hilarious. Yeah, and then just parks the car and gets out.
Starting point is 00:43:18 Nobody says anything to her. She'd had the sirens on. Thanks for bringing that back, Lauren. to to to to to to the the to the the to the to the the the the to the the the the to the the the the the the the the their. their. the their. the. the. thoom. thoome. their the. their their their their their their their their their their their their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. Thanks for driving responsibly, Lauren. I also like when she trips over the phone and unplugs it because at first I thought how Chad had unplugged it and then I realized she just tripped. Fuck it Lauren. Oh, we forgot to mention the scene where somebody finds a severed head by the river and the cops go to check it out and it's Bosch his wife's head. Oh and then the dogs all jangled up too. Yeah, yeah. And there's the great scene where the cops are trying to comfort Bosch and they're like, yeah, just go home and he's like home?
Starting point is 00:43:51 They're like, I don't know. Yeah, it's really brutal. I guess you're pretty fucked, never mind. Yeah, yeah, didn't think that went through. Oh my, I guess I didn't think about that, whatever, no. Yeah. Oh, yeah. So, at this point, George and Murray are down in the sewer, and so are Bosch and Shepard? Yes, and they're running at opposite ends to meet each other.
Starting point is 00:44:25 Right, and Murphy? It's Murphy. Is it Murphy or Murray? It's Murphy. It's Lorry. Because it gets reduced to Murph a few times. Okay. Murphy gets chewed up by some chud, which is nice. Yeah. I like that and I was happy to see him die. And I was also happy that George was alone and hopefully frightened. Yeah, I always love someone. It's to to to to to to to to to be to be to be to be to be to be to be th. thii. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the thi. the thi. thi. thi the thi thi. thi. their thi thi thi thi. M. Yeah, for sure. It's always a good move. Yeah, and then the powers that be and the police force decide they'll just park cars on top of every manhole cover for just a 10 block radius. Yeah, they're gonna fill the sewers with natural gas. Yeah, spark it. And, they're, like, the the the the the. the. the the the their. the their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. Wouldn't that just cause like the streets to fall in? Uh-huh. Okay, yep. For a 10 block radius, and a radius is only half the circle,
Starting point is 00:45:10 so that's 20 blocks long in all directions. That's a very large swath of New York. Yeah, yum, yeah. And Lauren comes pulling up in the car and she's like, my husband's down there. How the fuck the fuck the fuck the fuck the fuck the fuck the fuck the fuck the fuck the fuck th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th is th is thus thus thus. thus. thus. thus. thus. thi thus. thus. thia thia' thus is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th. th. th. th. th is th is th is th is th is th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi is thi is thi. thia thia thia thia. thi. thi. thi. thi. the the the the the thea thea thea thea thea thea thea thea thea thea thea there. How the fuck did you know that? Do you just sense it? Because that's crazy. Because that mothfuckers always hanging out in the sewer taking pictures. I guess it's sure. I guess it's sure, you're right.
Starting point is 00:45:31 Based on his obsession, it is a fair guess that where is he? Yeah, where is he's in the sewer. You ever have a mickrib? Oh yeah, like 100 years ago. They're not very good. I had one like two years ago. Can I, I wish I could remember who, this tweet that I saw, who made the tweet, but I don't remember. But it's my favorite thing I've ever read on the internet? Oh, it's a little blue. Did you the McDonald's thunn' McDonald's thun McDonald's thun McDonald's took McDonald's the McDonald's the McDonald's took McDonald's the McDonald's took McDonald's their own dick. Looking at you Marilyn Manson. That was such a great rumor. It really was. Just like sucking your own dick is
Starting point is 00:46:13 such a depressing like like concept you know because it's a lot of work. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. For like what is that really that much payoff? From when I hear, if people could do it, they'd never leave the house. That's, that's bleak. That's bleak. Uh, so, so yeah, we're heading to the climax of blowing up the fucking city. I mean, it just doesn't seem like a great idea to destroy your infrastructure, but what do I know? I'm not the EPA. At the whole time, they've been like, I think there's only one Chud, I think there's only
Starting point is 00:46:51 two Chud, it's fine. There's only a couple of them. There's hundreds of Chud. And they're out, too. They're already out. So this is where we get, Bosch trying to shoot Wilson. Wilson... With a baby gun, he is a little baby gun. I liked it. It does. It's adorable. Wilson getting into a truck and trying to run over Bosch and Daniel Stern. Daniel Stern shoots Wilson and kills him and then blows up the truck that he's in?
Starting point is 00:47:21 Yeah. And Bosch has also been shot at this point. He's been shot in the tum. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. W. Yeah. And Bosch has also been shot at this point. He's been shot in the Tum Tom, yeah. And we think he's dead until Daniel Stern runs over and Bushes. Nice shot. Wait, which time? Because he says it twice. The second one was Code for I Love You. Oh, okay. Does he die?
Starting point is 00:47:37 You think is cradling him. He'll be fine. You can cradle dead people. Okay, whatever. Not in this universe. It's funny because like Lauren and George are having this like tender moment, but like sewer, Bosch and Shepard, like they're just having jointly tender moments. I love it when they reunite. And George hugs Lauren and then slides down her, puts his head on her tummy. Because she's pregnant. I'm hugging the baby too. I want the baby now. I'm not going to laugh at that. I just thought it was like a it had to have been the director was like, now hug the baby. No, that is funny. You're right. I am going to laugh at that. It's a sweet sentiment, but it does not fit. He should have just punched her right right. You the the the the the the the the the the the th. You th. You th. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. You. Starting point is 00:48:25 He should have just punched her right in the gut. That would have been like the, uh, the Georgia we know and disdain. And uh, that's the end of the movie. Oh my god, they made a bunch of these, didn't they? Well, I, for the podcast, watch the Chud. Bud the Chud. Bud the Chud. Bud the Chud. Bud, BUD. BUD. The Chud. Do you remember a little movie we did called Terror Vision? I do. Do you remember the dad and terror vision? I don't. He was the hunky guy in Phantom of the Paradise. No remember that one either. Been a long, long strange trip. His name is Garrett something. Oh I do know the yes yes yes yes he is he is Bud the Chudd the government has rescued one of
Starting point is 00:49:09 the Chud looks like a regular ass dude except he has pointy teeth. God. At least he has a face. the budget on this movie was like faces faces who needs faces on these guys. Starting point is 00:49:34 It's super goofy, it portraying. If you think this movie is mean to cops. It's really good. It's really fun. That makes me happy. Yeah. I mean I support the troops. Katie. Alan. Want to go to the rain space? Sure. Do you want to go first? Sure. You love this movie. It's 1984 and it's silly and you love it. Yeah, I love a movie set in New York City in this time period. I'm gonna give it a nine. Almost perfect.
Starting point is 00:50:25 Did what people hate it because it's it's badly acted? It's badly acted badly shot badly written and it's weird. It's really filmed honestly. Do I say that already? Yeah, yeah. I think it's this direct this is the director's like only movie. Yeah, I think so. And it's also I think people are like, but all these people went on to did big shit and th???. And th. Starting point is 00:50:53 going wrong for an actor like Daniel Stern to look like it's his first movie. Yeah, for sure. But it is really fun to watch. Yeah.
