Werewolf Ambulance: A Horror Movie Comedy Podcast - Episode 267- Warm Bodies (2013)

Episode Date: February 10, 2020

In this week's episode, the second episode in our ~*~month of love~*~, we're discussing the 2013 zombie romantic comedy (zomromcom) "Warm Bodies." Special topics for your consideration include: the co...ncept of using 'Romeo & Juliet' as the basis for your romcom: a good idea? (not really, as it turns out), slow zombies with a high Dexterity, and probably our most tangent-filled episode to date* including diverging opinions on Coronas, Paul Rudd, My Chemical Romance and a discussion of a variety of other topics not related to this movie! *We think this says more about the movie than it does about us. Into zombie comedies? Try Episode 37- "Zombeavers," Episode 92- "Dead Snow" or Episode 160- "Shaun of the Dead." Starting point is 00:00:28 Katie. Alan. How are you? I'm well. How are you? I'm doing really great. I'm excited to be podcasting with you. I'm always excited to be podcasting with you. Yeah. Yeah. This is where Wolf Ambulance. We are discussing the movie Warm Bodies. I'm doing really great. Good. I'm excited to be podcasting with you. Yeah. Yeah. This is where will. Fambulf ambulance. We are discussing the movie. Warm Bodies. right into it this week. 15 seconds. I think that's a new record. Well, I wanted to get to my opening note. This movie has a zombie voiceover, and I think the guy who's the main zombie looks a lot like the lead singer of my chemical romance. Oh, he's too pretty. He's too pretty. He's pretty in a way that he goes back to ugly for me. Oh really? Too far pretty. I almost can't look at him. I think he's much prettier as a zombie than when he becomes healthy later. No I strongly disagree. When he becomes healthy I'm like, I can't look at you. You know I got a think for emo boys. Yeah. I just wanted to I was also very excited that my my Facebook feed today was all people who I'm friends with who are slightly younger than me who were clamoring from my chemical romance tickets. Oh my god.
Starting point is 00:01:14 Oh no. Can I tell you something? Yes. I don't think I've ever heard of my chemical romance song. Full disclosure they have a couple songs that I like. Can you name one and I'll listen to it later? Helena. Okay we'll listen to it after this podcast. Yeah it's like a it's one of those songs it's like you're familiar with pop punk. I had a blue star tattoo that I had to get covered up. Don't ask me that question. It's like it's one of those that the so thick like th th th th th th th th th th th th th like thic thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. It's thi. It's one thi. It's one thi. It's one thi. It's one tho tho to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to th. It's one th. It's one that th. It's one that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that. It's one that. It's one the. It's one the. It's one the. It's one the. It's one the. It's one the. It's one that. It's one to that. It's one that. It's one that. It's like it's one of those that like this song like ticks everything about pop punk in one song. Okay. It's got you know it's got like super melodic guitar rips and then like quarter time breakdown. Yeah, right. So it's like a little bit hardcore little bit little bit hard.
Starting point is 00:01:55 Just tip a tip to just the tip to see how it feels. So the thuggy guy can maybe mosh while he's like out of my chemical romance show. Oh man. Yeah, they're fine. Sure. They're one of those bands, like Lincoln Parks, the same thing. If I were 15 when those bands dropped, 100% on board. You'd be so in. I mean, I was a huge Motley crew fan. Yeah, because you were 15 when that band dropped, yeah. But yeah, I just thought I was like,, I look so much like that singer. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:02:26 I would also like to do this reveal right off the bat. Please. This movie is a loose retelling of Romeo and Julia. I figure that out when they were on them, she was on the balcony and she's going, Julie, and she's saying, R. And the woman's like, I want to be a nurse the comic relief and I was like oh fuck so missie had seen this movie before and like when it gets to that scene I was like God they're really laying into the shit aren't they and she's like oh fuck
Starting point is 00:02:53 it's Romeo and Juliet and I was like come on his name's to the best friend's name starts with an M it's Marcus R the marcus the to theyme i'm a they. It's a the. M. M. It's mar-I. M. M. M. It's mar-I. It's mar-I's mar-I's Marcus. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. It's M. M. M. M. It's M. M. It's M. It's M. M. M. It's M. It's M. It's M. It's M. It's M. It's M. It's M. It's M. It's M. It's M. It's M. It's M. It's M. It's M. It's M. It's M. It's M. It's M. It's M. It's M. It's M. It's M. It's M. It's M. It's M. It's M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. M. I the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. M. Oh yeah Marcus. It's like so it's so silly. Well in that moment I stealed myself for them to die. Sure. You can't have a Romeo and Juliet and have them live it's absurd. That's not the fucking story guys. Oh spoilers they live. And only one family doesn't want to get them to get together. Right. Right. The other one's like we're here for you. So this is a very light zombie movie. get together. Right, right. The other one's like, we're here for you. So this is, this is a very light zombie movie. Yeah. They're very like, I think it was on IMDB that I was reading about this where like the guy who wrote the movie was like, or maybe directed it, it was like, you know, if you're into romcoms, you're gonna get that. And if you're into zombie movies, I there's something there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there going to get that. And if you're into zombie movies, I think there's something there for you too. It was like, dog, dog.
Starting point is 00:03:46 What were you doing? What were you making? But I also feel like this is very kid-friendly. Like a 13-year-old could watch this movie without any problem. Yeah, what is this movie even rated? It's got to be PG. PG? G? He th. G? th. G? th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. th. thi. the. the-a. the-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th-a. th-a. th-a. th-a. th-a. th-a. th-a. th-a. th-a. th-w. the-s. tha-s.. t-s................................................G. He eats someone's brain! In 2019, come on. I don't know. Maybe you're right. The Walking Dead was the biggest TV show in the world. That's what's so bad too. Sorry, I don't want to hear about it. So we meet R. He doesn't remember his name. He just remembers that it started with an R.
Starting point is 00:04:23 You're rolling your eyes so hard. I hope that everyone can hear it. What I love is that the things that are established in the beginning of this movie fall apart 10 minutes into this movie. Tell me what you mean. Where he's like, I don't have the capacity for speech. The best that we can do is sit down and go, huh, huh? Yeah. And that's it. It's him and his friend M, because he doesn't know M's name either. Yeah. And like 10 minutes in the movie, he's like, yeah, Marcus, how you doing? Yeah, shaking hands.
Starting point is 00:04:55 And by the end, he's like, hello. I mean, I understand that he's becoming more human or whatever, but he's just like, the morning to ya. But, um, so R is like this sentient zombie, and it's kind of a horrific idea that like zombies know what they used to be, but they're trapped inside bodies that can't express that. Right, they're like having an inner dialogue that you might have with yourself, but they're also just shambling. Yeah, and hunting brains. but he's also, he collects
Starting point is 00:05:26 things and he lives on an airplane by himself. He's like a manic-pixie dream girl of zombies though, don't you think? Oh shit, definitely. I find that a little cheap. Sure. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, I mean, yes. In a movie that a lot of things are very cheap. Like basing your romcom on Romeo and Julia. Yeah, that's fair. At least do 10 things I hate about you and make it the taming of the true. Well, I mean, that also, it reminded me of like, you know, there's been examples of like reclaving, or reworking stuff like, clueless is Emma by Jane Austen. Right, right, right, right. And it's perfect, that's a perfect film. That is a 100% perfect film and if you ever try to tell me otherwise I will bury you. The most tolerable Paul Rudd's ever been. How dare you? Everybody loves Paul Rudd. Are you serious? I'm an outlier. You don't want to fuck Paul Rudd. No not that to thi to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to fuck Paul to fuck Paul. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, I to the to the to the to to the the to to th. th. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their. I. I. I. I. I, tell. tell. tell, tell, the tell me, the tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me, tell me, to tell me, tho. tho. the to fuck Paul Rudd. I'm the, no, uh, not even in my, uh, not even in a, uh, wet hot American summer?
Starting point is 00:06:29 No. Really, when he says, Gernel? It's comedy gold. It's fine. Yeah, I'm just not a fan. Oh, man. He's just one of those people that's like, hmm. Weird. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:40 Fine. Fine. Maybe I'll come around on to you don't have to come around on Paul Rudd. He's got enough. I came around on Seth Rogan recently. Yeah, that's fair. You know what? Let Paul Rudd, it's fine. Let him go. If he was meant to be, it would have happened already. It's true. But yeah, and then like all the Kira Khorasawa movies where he redud Shakespeare like with Samarize and they're fucking amazing. I didn't know that existed. Yeah, like Ron and Throne of Blood or like, oh, like King Lear and yeah, they're based on Shakespeare stuff. Yeah, yeah, they're full fantastic. I should. You should. I should. I've got the Criterion Collection. I don't like it when when. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.'s how it was amazing. Yeah, yeah. I've got the criterion collection. I don't like it when people say criterion collection. I don't like it when people say criterion collection. I love your version of criteria. It's true, but I have very snobby taste. I recently laughed at myself because I signed up for the New York Times cooking app on my
Starting point is 00:07:47 phone and I was like, oh, that's the whitest fucking thing I'll do today. It's extremely white. But those recipes are good. They're fantastic. Yeah. Their pasta recipes are out of control. Yeah, that's good task. That's not snob.
Starting point is 00:07:57 I also like jazz. I also like jazz. Oh, that's so snobby. You are an utter snob. I'm a middle-aged white man that likes jazz. You're wearing a sweater vest. And a t-shirt. You're Jeff Goldblum. I wish. I thought you were going to do the whole episode of Medboys. But, uh, so like, when you're doing this like revamping of a classic material, like, and it's done so much better in these other movies, like...
Starting point is 00:08:28 Yeah. Yeah. You know what's not better than this? What? The Romeo and Juliet with Leonardo Diabrio and Claire Danes? Thank you. I fucking hate that movie. I thought it was universally loved. What? I thought it was a real Paul Rudd. How a how dear you draw a comparison between my husband Paul Rudd in that piece of shit movie? Leo! I worked at Borders of the time with a lot of pretentious assholes. This is when Borders was like hiring pretentious assholes because they wanted that vibe. That was the stick because they also sold coffee, don't you know? And I remember that movie came out and a guy I worked with was like did you see that Romeo and Juliet and I was like yeah I
Starting point is 00:09:07 fucking hated it. Yeah and he was like oh I thought it was genius. And I was like in what world is Bazleurman? Bazlerman? Oh just wait for Moulin Rouge my friend I said I never saw that. I thought it was visually stunning as my understanding of Moulon Rouge. And I like that song. Everybody likes that song. Oh yeah. I'm going to do a lot of everybody and nobody likes. And this, everybody likes that.
Starting point is 00:09:33 Everybody likes that. I like that. Speaking of the people, I'm of the people. So, to me. Really? Yeah, so pretty, he's ugly. Who's, it's Claire Dane's is a? Oh, gorgeous. Yeah. Yeah. She's so pretty. I think the only good thing that that movie gave us was the scene in Hot Fuzz when they're doing Romeo and they're doing the Basker right. And they come back out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out out the the th. th. th. th. thi thi thi the past and then they come back out on stage singing the Carnigans, but like, done as a vaudeville song, Love Me, Love Me, Love Me.
Starting point is 00:10:10 That was so good. Not a horror movie. I'm a dummy. That's okay. I had to cut the dire straits Romeo and Juliet out of that episode, not once but twice, and I was so sad doing it because you know which I love that song. I do. All right so we've talked about everything but this movie. Yeah. So we we've got R and he and M are like cruising around and they get a scent of brains and we've seen that Julie and her boyfriend a
Starting point is 00:10:44 Franco brother are are, which Franco is that? Oh, Dave. He said that with such a disdain. A friend of mine despises Dave Franco. I don't know who he is. It's James Franco's brother. I mean, I know James Franco is a creeper. Yeah. Okay. I don't know why he just really hates him and I think it's hilarious. Because it seems like yeah I he has no impact on my life whatsoever. Oh he's married to Allison Brie. No. He is. She's a goddame trea. She's a goddame treasure. Yeah yeah. Well they're married. Oh congrats. Muscle top. Also I'd like to point out that M is played by Rob Cordryry. A a a a a a that. A. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. thierierierierierierier. I is that. M. M. M. M. M. M. I is thier. M. Icle top. Also, I'd like to point out that M is played by Rob Cordry, a bald man comic you like. I do like Rob Cordry.
Starting point is 00:11:28 I've heard him interviewed on different podcasts and he's like, he's on that show Ballers, with Dwayne the Rock Johnson. And, uh, what is that show? It's like, Duane the Rock Johnson. I like to to think this. He to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the tho, tho.. the, the the the tho. the tho. the tho. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the Rock Johnson. I think this name is Rock Johnson. Rock Johnson. He is like a sport or an athletic representation. An agent? There you go.
Starting point is 00:11:55 Athletic represent, you dork. Pretentious indoor kid. Athletic representation. Fuck I'm terrible. And Rob Cordry is like his partner. But he talks about being like, they film in Miami. And Rob Cordray is just like a dude that likes to hang out at home. Yeah, I can see. So like he's like, yeah, well we're shooting like, I just lay in bed and listen to podcasts. And like, and he was being
Starting point is 00:12:29 interviewed. And there's someone's like, well, do you hang out with anybody in the show? Who the fuck is going to hang out with me on that show? Duane the Rock Johnson doesn't want anything to that makes me sad. Oh, that that that that that that that that makes me that makes me that that that makes me that that that makes me that that that that makes me that that makes me that that makes me that that that that makes me that makes me sad. Oh, that makes that makes that makes me that makes me that makes me sad th me sad th me sad thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi their their their their their their their their their their their their their their th me th me th me me me me th me th me th me th me th me th me th me th me th. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh, th. Oh, thi. Oh, thi. Oh, thi. And thi. And thi thi thi the the the thean. And thean. And thean thean thean. And thean thi thi thi thi, I'm getting a huge paycheck, but yeah, they're not my friends. Yeah. Well, good, good for you. Yeah. What if you listen to our podcast? Oh, you better say some nice things about Rob Cordry. Rob Cordry, I'm sorry, I said those things about Hot Tub Time machine machine. It's a fine film.
Starting point is 00:12:56 It's a Hup Tub. The more I say it, I can't say it anymore. It's called Cut Cape. I'll take that out. No, it's fine. We gotta get back on track or else that person who complained about us doing too many tangents is going to kill themselves. If you can't handle the tangent, if you can't handle me a theangent, you don't deserve me at on point. That's a meme, we got a meme. So yeah, Julie and Dave Franco are going out like sort of on some sort of excursion to find more supplies. Right. Because Julie is bored and wants to prove a point to her overbearing father. Who's playing John Malkovich?
Starting point is 00:13:46 Why? Holy miscast in this movie. Why is it every time John Malkovich shows up in one of the movies we do? I'm like, what are you doing? Like, what are you doing? This is our third Malkovich? Is it? Which one I'm missing? So it's not the bird cage, but the bird box. Bird box, yeah, that's the one I was thinking of.
Starting point is 00:14:05 And the one about the art dealers. Oh, fuck, you're right. Velvet Buzzle. Yeah, you're right. I completely forgot that I've seen that movie until I remember the John Malkovich was in it. Wow. I just erased that movie from my memory. That's fine. Oh yeah, that's that's that's hea he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he he he he he he he he he th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the thi. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. the a thean. the a the a thoooooooooooooooooo-n. th. th. th. th. th. yeah, it was much to it. But yeah, he is the leader of like the military zombie resistance. His tone is so strange. I don't understand what he's going for.
Starting point is 00:14:33 I think that's why I think this is a movie that's good for kids because everyone is just like super broad. Yeah, that's fair. Like if you were writing an episode of Dora the Explorer and you're the military man you'd be like well John Malcovich here you go. He's not intense. He's just pissed. He's just pissed but he's not like a sergeant he's not like an Arlea Ermi or like a like a the other guy from a lepercon in space. Oh a metal head hooker? Yeah he's like, he's Tom Malkovich who always just plays a dick. Yeah. What? Is he just a dick? I don't think so. I can't imagine he would be. Do you think he's just a person who likes being a heel? I think so. That's cool. Um. We're just going through all the movies where he is not a good, like, con air and I have not seen con air in what world you're
Starting point is 00:15:26 you'll love it when we eventually get to it on our action movie podcast because it's a swole Nick Cage oh no it's during the period where he was super buff that makes me feel uncomfortable like already there's some movie with him and David Caruso and there's a scene where Nick Kage is doing reps with a woman that he's just pressing above his hand. No. Actual movies are weird, man.
Starting point is 00:15:51 We gotta get back to this movie. We gotta do it. It's John Malcolmich. So John Malkovich is her dad, he's very oppressive to her. She kind of hates him and hates how, but he's, it's that thing of he's just trying to keep her alive. Right. And her boyfriend's like, no, your dad's the best and I'm going to do whatever your dad says. He's not a very good actor, DeFranco. Okay. No, no, like zip on the charisma meter.
Starting point is 00:16:11 Yeah, he's, he looks wooden. Yeah, and luckily, he is immediately killed. Yeah, we don't have to look at him for too long long too too too too too long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long long too too long too too too long too too long too long too long too long too long to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. the. the. the. the. the the. the. the. the. the. to to to to to to to to to to to to to the nurse character was also there when they get attacked. So they get attacked by the zombies. They got to the airport, they get attacked by the zombies. R eats Dave Franco and sees Julie post eating Dave Franco's brains. Right, because if they don't eat their brains, they'll turn into a zombie. But if you do eat their brains, you get their memories. Yep. their memories, which is like, what? Really? Okay. There's a TV show called I-Zombie, and the whole premise of that is if when you eat someone, you get their memories, and they're solving
Starting point is 00:16:50 crimes by eating victims' brains. What? That's a television program? It is. It's like a CW. That sounds bang on CW. Catch it after Moisha. And one tree hill. These shows that are in their 40th season. Yeah. Moisha has many children. So he takes Julie and like he wants to save her. Right. He's determined to save her. Right. So he takes her onto his airplane and kidnaps her. He wipes like blood on her face so that the zombies don't recognize her as not a zombie? Which I didn't, that didn't make a lot of sense, but okay, it's fine. It doesn't need to. It's funny because that's something they do in the Walking Dead.
Starting point is 00:17:38 Oh really? Yeah, they like, but they cover them themselves them them the themselves their their their their their their their their their their their their they cover their they cover their they cover their their they cover their their their their their their their their like this disgusting scene and then this he's like squeak and just like a little bloodstree cut her cheek and he's like he sniffs her yeah you're fine everything's fine and then he tells her to shamble is this when he tells her to shamble that's later yeah in a scene that they just stole from Sharn of the dead yeah yeah but he's I thought it was more of a nod but okay sure yeah, for sure How does Nora get out of there the nurse? She's like hiding how does she not get eaten by zombies because I was like oh man She left her to die move she's like a hiding but like standing like standing behind a tree She's yeah, she's in like a Jurassic Park pots and pans cabinet you know for sure. But we like see her watch Julie leave and that's the end of the scene. Right, and I was like, oh, she's dead.
Starting point is 00:18:27 And then when it comes back, comes back around and she's alive and they're like still friends? I was like, word, you have, okay. They should have just had a hand waving across the screen. But she goes back to his place and now he's talk. Yeah. Because he's got Dave Franco's memories. And he, they listen to records and hang out. Well, the scene where he takes her in there is actually very scary if you think about it from her perspective of this like,
Starting point is 00:18:56 a zombie has just taken you, and undead, they call them corpses. Yeah. A corpse has just taken you and like stashed you somewhere and is cornering you and grunting at you. Like you're terrified. You have to assume that you're a snack. Right. And he keeps saying her name. He keeps saying Julie. Yeah. And that he's like safe or something. And she's like, what are you? And then these little hearts come up. Be, be, be be, be the thi. Is this a the the the the th. the th. the th. the th. the th. the the the th. the the the th. the th. the the th. th. the th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the th. the the the the the th. the the the the th. th. the the the the the the th. the the the the the the the the the the the th. the the th. the the th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thr. thr. thr. thr. thr. thr. thr. thr. thr. thr. thr. thr. thr. thr. thr. thr. th. th hearts come up. Be, be, be, be, be, be, be. Adorable. Is this a meat cute? Is this what a meat cute is?
Starting point is 00:19:27 I ate your boyfriend's brains. But it's an M.E.A.T. Oh, I like that a lot. That should have been the tagline for this. Yeah. Yeah. So, yeah, they just kind of hang out and he, like he goes out to get her food and she sneaks out of the plane and that's when we see her get like cornered by other zombies and he teaches her out of shamble. Oh right.
Starting point is 00:19:50 And there's the hilarious scene where she's doing it too much. Yeah, too much. And I can't believe he can say that. It just doesn't make sense. But it's still cute at this point. It's like a cute movie at this morning. Yeah, it's cute. So, they're in there for a while. Yeah, like listening to Bob Dillard. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:17 And just like having a grand all time. She thinks he has great taste in music. Would she though? I don't know. Oh, no. He's also very dexterous. He can work a record player. And he says something like, God, we move slow.
Starting point is 00:20:34 But like, and that's supposed to be funny. It's all of them shambling along. But like, he really doesn't and can also just do what he wants. Yeah, they all do. And when when when when when when when when when when when when when when when when when when when they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they're they're they're. Yeah, they all do. When they attack, they just like spring like tigers. There's a cool warriors vibe to them walking down the street though, I thought. Oh, for sure. Yeah. So they get her some food and they're hanging out and he brings her a Corona. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:58 So in my humble opinion, Corona's fresh in a bottle tastes like skunked beer. No! And so... This is a Paul Rod moment. Coronas that have been hanging out in an airplane, I don't know, cabinet for six years, or however long this has been? That's gonna be nasty. You think Corona tastes skunked? I think it's one of, it's not as bad as Heineken that always sort of taste skunk to me. Let me ask you a question. Yes. What are we drinking right now? Ah, icy light. How's it tase to you?
Starting point is 00:21:27 It just like, little skunky? No, it just tastes like beer. Yeah, it just taskil the beer. It doesn't know, they turn into these things they call bonyes. Yeah. They look so beat though. I'm so whack.
Starting point is 00:21:52 They're so bad. They're just like, like, resident evil leftovers. Like, how are they? How are they? I don't know? I feel like it's that scene in Beetlejuice where they the guy's like, this is the lost souls room. Death for the dead.
Starting point is 00:22:13 Because it's, they're like, CGI. And they all look exactly the same, like they just made one and then cut it and piece it and over into a scene. And it's not scary, like it's not particularly too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too toa. too toa. toaulgiaulg. toaulg. toaulg. thiaulg. thiaulg. thiaulg. their their thiaaaaaaauli. thi. thi. thi. toaaaaa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. their tha. th scene. And it's not scary, like it's not particularly scary. It's all out of proportion, it's like way too tall and like the heads too small. It doesn't even have cool teeth. That's no eyes. Yeah. They're just like ti, like, that I fucked up on. It's kind of like that. They're 100% like that. Yeah. And they don't even do like cool stuff, like come out of the ground and throw some man's
Starting point is 00:22:48 mouth. Was that cool? As Gleasy Chabare. Oh man. God, we all fuck up, don't we? God, we all fuck up, don't we? counter by like slapping her hand on the... Can anybody really do that? Is that a real thing you can do? I guess if you're hard-livid out there in the zombie apocalypse, you learn skills. Yeah, didn't you have like that friend that would always open their beers, they're lighter and all that stuff?
Starting point is 00:23:13 Yeah. I did have a friend who did that. My friend Jeanette. Yeah. I wonder if I could to open open open open open open open We only have two left, I don't want to waste him. We could shotgun those. You cannot check on a bottle of beer. Oh, what that happened to turf. Oh, God. So we go through this whole like rigmarole and he- Where's she pooping? That's what I want to know, where's she the same thing, like, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is she, is she, is, is she, the, the, the, the, the, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, and, the, the, the, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, the, the, the, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the thi? the tho, the the tho? the the tho? the tho? the thoing. the thoing. thoing. thoing. thoing? thoing, like, like I want to know. Where's she pooping? I thought the same thing like is she just like taking a dump and then just opening the
Starting point is 00:23:48 airplane and letting it drop out of like her? And then like when they're out on the tarmac is there just a pile of her turts? It's a real Dave Matthews. Oh man fuck Dave Matthews. Yeah, and they listen to Tunnel, don't they listen to Tunnel of Love by Springsteen? I think it's um, dancing in the, no, it's not dancing in the day. No, it's one of my not favorite Springsteen songs, but I care about what it was. Can I be honest? I don't have a favorite Springsteen song because I just, it's fine. It's just like so like, people who, that it's the Dave Matthews problem honestly. It's the people who love it, just like, love, love it, and I can't I get behind that? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I mean, and also like, by the time you were cognizant of Springsteen, it was like, it was this this era tha tha tha tha th. th. th. th. thi thi thi. thi. thi. Yeah, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. era. Yeah, he was he was too big. Yeah, like, you know, fucking
Starting point is 00:24:46 The White Album by the Beatles gigantic. Like it was just this like ubiquitous thing. Yeah, it just like, it goes on like the fact that like there's this like romantic spark between a fucking dead man and that's, that's necrophilia. I don't care how you paint it. I mean he's cute. He's cute and her th th th th th th th th th th th th th th the boyfriend he he he he he he he he he he he he's he's th th he's th th th th th th th is th is thus thus thus thus thi thi thi- thi- thi- thiol- thiol- thiol- thi- thiol- thu- thu-like the thu-like the thu-like thu-like thu-like tho-like th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thoooo-a tho-hea tho-f-hea'-f-f-f-f-fogog-hea-hea-f-f-f-f-f-f's cute I guess. He's mad cute and her boyfriend's dead And has been for like three whole days And I know she gives that speech later about how like in her world She's just used to seeing people die, but like that guy had been her boyfriend a long time Seemed like they had a lot of memories together, so oh here's one thing that I've all right. I know this is hell a nitpicky. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:25:26 So we, he eats, he keeps eating Dave Ranko's brain throughout the movie. Right, you just got it in his pocket. I like that. A sweatshirt pocket filled with Dave Franco's brain. I like that because I keep snacks in my pocket too. Yeah, but having a pocket full of cheeses versus cheerios, man. Buy them in bulk, eat them in bulk. But I don't know why this irks me so much, but when someone is having a memory and they are in the memory,
Starting point is 00:25:52 it drives me up a wall. I know. Imagine if when you saw memories, you were just seeing how you looked in them. Because I feel like that would be, no, it would be so much better. You think? Yeah, because nothing we remember about ourselves is ever as bad as anyone else remembers it. You know what I mean? Like those things that keep you up in the middle of the night, where you wake up thinking about something you said,
Starting point is 00:26:12 no one else saw it that you did, you know? I feel like I would do a lot better if I could see myself thin' thus thus thus th was wrong. It was one of those muscle-bound ding-dones. Yeah. They're really interchangeable as far as muscle-bound ding-dongs go. If you could see the you that I the beginning and instead of a parachute coming out it was just pasta. That's a Kyle Canane joke that I stole. Don't credit him.
Starting point is 00:26:56 It's fine, it's yours now. I'm gonna open another beer, okay. So Rob Cordry suspects that there's something going on with Julie. He doesn't think she's a zombie. It seems crazy to me that they can something going on with Julie. He doesn't think she's a zombie. It seems crazy to me that they can only recognize them by having a little bit blood on them. Like the rest of her has like has to be funky. Like if it's the apocalypse you're not show like stinky human, not like dead person. Right. You're just smell like farts and armpits and butts for sure.
Starting point is 00:27:24 So zombies are like they can only smell face stink? I don't You're just like farts at armpits. Farts and armpits and butts, for sure. Buts. So zombies are like, they can only smell face stink? I don't understand. I don't know. I don't know. Yeah, M decides there's something going on. And R has to get Julie, Julie wants to go back home.
Starting point is 00:27:40 So R is trying to get her back home. And he has like a little convertible. That's all I wanted to say. Then he drives around but Rex because he's bad driving. Yeah. Even though he's perfectly coordinated to put on a fucking LP. But, um. So, yeah, and Julie and R are going to get attacked by boney's.
Starting point is 00:28:01 I just want to say it like I'm a stone dude. Bayonies. Bayonies. And Rob Cordry saves them with what I was hoping was a Zamboni when he drove up. Yeah, it was pretty cool though. Yeah, it's just like a luggage cart tractor. Because now he feels, it's the power of love. And if we could still do music, I would demand that you drop the power of love in here. Little, little Dr. Lewis, little Hewis Lewis. So hot. So weird.
Starting point is 00:28:30 I think it's because when I was a kid I just thought he was like my dad's age. Yeah. You're older than me. Now, Huey Lewis at his peak, man. Man, yeah, I guess. Whatever. Where do you come down on Dennis Quaid? I feel like he's very Hewis, Lewis.
Starting point is 00:28:52 Yeah, Dennis Quaid's a good-looking man. Yeah. I think most people, everybody thinks Dennis Quaid is hot. Except for Dennis Quaid. He needs to see the you that he can see, or whatever. Oh, I'm sorry I'm doing this right now. So Rob Cordry is also feeling the power of love, and he wants to help.
Starting point is 00:29:15 Yes. Which is fine. Oh, and earlier in the movie, R says that the bonies will eat anything with a heartbeat, but so will he but he feels bad about it. So all of the zombies that start to feel the power of love get a bum-bub. They get one little heartbeat. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:36 And so now the bonies are mad because they have one heartbeat. Yeah. There's a lot of existential angst in this film, huh? Which I guess makes sense if it's Romeo? It's, Romeo, Romeo, Romeo, Romeo, thiiiii, the, th. It's, th. It's, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, thi, thi, tho, tho, thoom, tho, tho, th, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, thi, thi, thi, thi, th, th, thi, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, ra, ro, thi, ro, thi, thi, thi, roomomomoma, room? is thi, roomoma, ro. So, ro. thi, ro. thi, ro. thi, r film, huh? It really is. Which I guess makes sense if it's Romeo and Julia. Sure. Fine. But I liked the everyone, like when all the zombies are standing in a row, and you see these little red hearts in them light up. I liked it too. I was like, that's cute.
Starting point is 00:29:55 Yeah. Can I tell you who think it's a really nice thing. I can't wait to get to the rating space. So Julie gets home, R gets dumped. He kind of says some like weird in-sell stuff. Well Marcus definitely does because he goes, uh, bitches man. Right, right, right, right. I was like, Rob Cordry, what are you doing? I know. He is, I think, supposed to be the comic relief, but the true comic relief is her friend, who I think is great. She's hilarious, yeah, yeah. Who is the nurse, who is the comic relief of Romeo and Juliet? Yay. I don't remember enough about Romeo and Juliet and I tried listening to it at work.
Starting point is 00:30:45 Turns out you can't kind of pay attention to Shakespeare. No, you've got to be all in. Where do you come down on Shakespeare? I took a course in college called Advanced Shakespeare. I really like it. So do I. Yeah. I feel like a lot of people talk shit. I think that's just being a contrary.
Starting point is 00:31:01 I think so. And it that's akes like it's I they're probably the same people that complain about reading movies with subtitles. People complain about that? Oh sure yeah people don't want to watch foreign language film because I don't want to read while they're watching a movie. But I feel like Shakespeare just takes like a little bit of time to figure out what's going on and then it's so goddamn rewarding. Yeah and then but the problem the problem the problem the problem the problem the problem the problem the problem the problem the problem the problem the problem the problem the problem the problem the problem the problem the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. Ch. Ch. Ch. Ch. Chakes th. th. Chakes. Chakes. Chakes. Chak. Chak. Chak. Chak. Chak. Chak. I'm. they're just. they're just. they're just. they're just. Sha. I'm. Sha. I'm so goddamn rewarding. Yeah. And then, but the problem I have with Shakespeare is when you read it and then you like go back to your regular life, you kind of want to be like speaking in that old English. But, uh, yeah, give it a try.
Starting point is 00:31:32 Yeah, give it a Shakespeare a try. Give Shakespeare a try. If you're into like real dark shit, which's a fucking bleak and gory and brutal. It's horrible. You should read that. And see Shakespeare if you get the opportunity. It's fantastic live. Even like weird, like, community college versions of it,
Starting point is 00:31:55 which are always fun. You know what go see some Shakespeare sometime? Yeah, all right, for sure. Well, that's an old white person thing we could do. Yeah, R comes back, he's been dumped and now he's got to go get her back. He's got to go win Julie back. Yeah, boy meets girl, boy loses girl. Yeah. Spoilers. Boy gets girl back and nobody dies. No. And this whole time R as the power of love is healing him, he is getting less and less zombie-looking. Yeah, he's getting prettier. He is, and he starts pushing his hair out of his face too. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He's, th. He's, th. He's, th. He's, th. th. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. And then starts pushing his hair out of his face too. He loses that emo flare that I'm here, that I'm here for. And he,
Starting point is 00:32:30 so he sneaks into the human encampment because he has Dave Franco's memories of how they got out. Right. Which I liked. Yeah, I did like that. I thought that was fun. It's a good mechanic for him being able to get in. And then. And to get in in in in. It's overt. But I also love like I think I had I liked that scene because it was when Missy was like oh shit that's what I had not figured this out. That's when I had that too honestly. This was her second time watching. Oh missie no. She was the one who suggested we do this movie. Oh missie no. It's a romcom. It's I I I I I I I I I I I I I that. It's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's that's that's th. It's th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that's th. that's that's th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the thi. the the the the tho. the the tho. the the tho. the tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho., Missy, no! She was the one who suggested that we do this movie. Oh, Missy? No. It's a romcom. I should have known.
Starting point is 00:33:10 And so he gives her a hug and she says, You feel warmer than I remember. It's a weird thing to say to somebody. She's really fallen for this dead guy. Yeah, it's very handsome. Everybody thinks Paul Rudd is handsome. And you would fall for zombie Paul Rudd. Yeah. So they decided they have to go take...
Starting point is 00:33:37 I feel like I'm just telling you the movie. No, it's fine. I mean, we don't have much to talk about with this, so... Not much happens. No. No, there's a lot of like, like you said, just like existential angst and like wandering around. Yeah, zombieing around. It's like a teen movie. It's like Nick and Nora's infinite playlist if they were dead, don't you think? I've never seen that but I appreciate it. I watched it. It was that a rumcom. Yeah, but it's like, the the the tip. It's like, th. It's like, th. It's like, th. It's like, th. It's like, th. It's like, th. It's like, th. It's like, th. It's like, th. It's like, th. It's like, th. It's like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. th. thi. thi. thi.? Yeah. But it's like teens who make mixes, you know. Oh, all right. It's Michael Sarah. What happened to that guy? I feel like he just went away. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:34:14 Hopefully he's sitting on his Brazilians. Yeah. Which is his money and not people he knows. I want to be clear if you've not listened to this podcast before. That's a number I like to use. Or the waxes that he's had. Oh, oh, boy. So they decide that they have to take R to meet to meat John Malcovich to tell him that the zombies are getting better. Right. Which is the most dumb team thing that anyone could do. It's super dumb teen, teen, but, but, but, but, but, but, tune, but, te, te, thine, thine, thine, thine, thine, thine, thine, thin, thin, thi, thi, thi, in, in, in, in thi, in thi, in thi, thi, in my the most dumb teen thing that anyone could do? It's super dumb teen, but in my estimation, she's like 26. Oh yeah, for sure.
Starting point is 00:34:49 She should know better. And also, like, the other zombies are getting better because they're witnessing their love? So it's just like, seeing love will make you feel better? That's the power of love. That's why people watch Romcombs. I don't feel good about that. But also like there's a lot of them out there so are they all going to have to like are they going to line up all of the zombies and have them all watch some love? Is it going to work on everyone? You know what I mean? Like I feel like it might not work for me? the the the th... th. the the th. the th. the the the the th. the the the th. th. th. the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. they th. thi. thi. thi. thi. that that tho. tho. to to to to to to to to to to th. I that's that's that's that's that's that's to to to be to be to be that's that's that's to be that's th. I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the. I the the the. I the the the the the the the the the the the tomorrow.oe. toge. the. toe. I the. I the. I the. I mean? Like, I feel like it might not work for me. What if I was the one? But like the rest of them were like starting to melt and I was just like
Starting point is 00:35:30 ah! I'm like went nuts and tore up the camp. You turn into a bony. That's Deese. Yeah, I'm more of a bony I guess. So the whole time while they're going to talk to dad, the boney's are going to attack. They like become the bad guys part way through the movie and you're like, okay. Oh, also, R has walked back with most of his zombie friends. It's like the scene in Rocky where he's running through Philadelphia. They keep picking up more and more zombies. Yeah. How can I tell you something? Oh, I love that scene. Oh, yeah. Yeah. How can you not feel triumphant after watching that scene? Oh, God, what is it?
Starting point is 00:36:10 Not about you. What is this movie? Yep. So the zombies are all waiting for him. He's like, wait here. And all the zombies are like, cool. At one point they like Rob Cordury is translating for them and he goes, they said, fuck yeah. You're gonna be kidding me. I feel like they were like, hey Rob, do you want to add Lib? He's like, not really, but I'm gay, whatever. Yeah. Oh, wait, don't. Not today.
Starting point is 00:36:37 Can you stop drawing blue lines on my neck now? You've got to get more love. Oh. Did you like the scene where they jumped off the high building after they're being chased by either the boney's or somebody else? Well, I thought he was going to die and I was excited for it because I felt like that was how this should end. And then she'd have to kill herself. She'd have to kill herself. No, that doesn't happen, he's fine. He's okay. She like serps him down. Yeah well I wonder if they like the because if you had figured out at that point that it was meant to be
Starting point is 00:37:09 Romeo and Juliet you'd be expecting them to die and so when he doesn't die and stands up and then immediately gets shot yeah and you're like oh now he's gonna die it was a fake out but he still doesn't die. Also he stands up and breathed. Yeah. So he can breathe now. Yeah, and then he bleeds. Which is, he has time to bleed. Which is important. And this is what him bleeding convinces and melts John Malkovich's heart. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:39 And he's like, we got to save them Zambos. We got to do it. Did you know that his name is Colonel Grigio? I did. I just learned that. I was making Pino Grigio jokes. Oh boy. Oh brother. There's nothing about John Malcovich that says Colonel Grigio. Not a damn sight.
Starting point is 00:37:58 His daughter is Julie Grigio. That sounds like a literally a name I would make up to make fun of Italians. Oh my God. It's me, Julie Grigio. I'm a baptized. I don't know. I'm a baptized. I don't know.
Starting point is 00:38:22 I'm a baptized. I'm a baptized. I'm one of the baptized. So the humans and the zombies team up and they defeat the bonyes and everything is wonderful. Oh right, they just beat the shit out of them, yeah. There's all these slow-mo scenes of humans and zombies stomping the bonys. And then we see like Rob Cordry holding an umbrella trying to like woo a young woman, which like the point of the scene is that he's like a almost transitioned dead person. And she's a living person, but really she's like 25 years younger than him, which is creepy.
Starting point is 00:39:01 She's DTZ. I guess. Or she's just being annoyed by a middle-aged man with an umbrella. When a middle-aged man annoys you in public, I feel like you have to tolerate them so that they don't do anything terrible, do you? It's true. I know. Yeah. And the people blow up the wall and everything's beautiful. Oh boy, I feel like the ratings phase for this is going to be delightful. I think that something's going to happen that's going to shock you. Are we there? Are we here? Did we talk about this movie? I think so? We tangentially talked about this movie? I have literally like seven notes about it. I don't have many notes either. There's not a lot to talk about. Not much happens. So do you want to uh, you want to go to the ratings phase? I'm glad you
Starting point is 00:39:51 switch to that instead of your warm bodies voice. Warm bodies. Yeah, let's read it. You want to go first? I think it's an enjoyable movie? I don't think it's a good movie. No. But it's cute. Here's the things. Yeah. th. th's not. th's not. th's not. th's not. th's not th's not th's not th's not th. th's not th. th's not th th th th th th th th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to thu thi th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th. th th th. th. th th th th th th th th thi thi thi thi. thi thi. thi. thi. thi. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. Yeah, he really enjoyed it. He like looked at me with a smile on this season. He was like, I think it's really nice. I shouldn't make fun of him. Not at all. God, so sincere. I'm going to give it a five, because I think it's a,
Starting point is 00:40:38 for a person who would enjoy this movie, you're going to all fucking love this movie. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, it, it, it, it, it, it is, it is th th th th th th th th th th th th th thus, it is thus, it is thus, it is thus, thus, thus thus, that, that, that's that's that, I that, that's that's that's that's, I'm that's, I'm that's, I'm that's, I that's, I that's, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I I I th. th. Yeah. What about you? So I like the whole time I'm like oh this is just like a fucking run-of-the-mill romcom just with a zombie in it like yeah. There's no stakes blah blah blah but when they get to the end and the whole world is healed is healed by compassion, empathy and understanding I was like, fuck, I'm in! Oh, no. Oh, no. Like, all I want in the universe right now is compassion, empathy, and understanding.
Starting point is 00:41:11 Fair. And like, the fact that they, that's what they were selling me, I was like, fine. This movie's cute. If I had like a 13-year-old niece or nephew, I would be like, hey, check this out. This is fine. You're gonna maybe enjoy this, or get mad at me for showing it to you. Hey, check this out, it's fine. I mean, there are a lot of treatises in this film, I would say of technology, of contagions,
Starting point is 00:41:35 of the world as it is right now. I think there is a lot of commentary. Sure. But, but it's, but it's, but it's, but it's, but it's, but it's, but it's, but it's, but it's, but it's, but it's, but it's, but it's, th. But, th. th. th. th. th. thi. that. that, thathea, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that, that, that. that. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. the This. A silly remake of Romeo and Juliet. Yeah. A stakesless remake of Romeo. Because they don't fucking die. If they had died, I would have liked this movie a lot more. Yeah. Because they would have given it at stakes, you're right. Yeah. So what are you going to give? I'm going to give it a six.
Starting point is 00:42:00 All right. Yeah, I'm going to say you could do a lot to do a to do a to do a lot to do a to do a to do a to do a to do a lot worse than watching this, but it's not like, I'll never watch it again. No. I feel bad because I feel like a lot of movies we've given five and sixes are so much worse than this, but like, you know. But it's all about how it hits us. Yeah. I was just like, is it over yet? I felt bad. It is short and feels like it goes on for a really long time. With nothing happening. Like those flashbacks of Dave Franco's memories are interminable. They are interminable and also like there's no acknowledgment made by Julie that she's lost a loved one. She's mad for literally three minutes and he ate her boyfriend. And I feel like they put that, I feel like the studio had to have commented on that or something and that's why they put they they they they they they they they they they they they they put they put they put they put they put they put the studio had to have commented on that or something, and that's why they put in that scene where she's like, when in my world, people die all the time, you just get
Starting point is 00:42:46 used to it. Yeah. Because it's so cold. Like, it does not paint Julie in a sympathetic light. To have like, the person, the love of your life die and be like, well, I'd fuck a zombie-embi. at this point, you know, you're not together anymore. They're like, it's not nice. I love the idea of the zombie eating breakup. We were on a break.
Starting point is 00:43:11 And then you got eaten. Katie. Alan. Would you like to go to a little place that I like to call mail bag? I would love to go there. This is a review on iTunes. Okay. This is from Debt's Port Guy? Desports Guy? Detroit Sports Guy. Detroit Sports Guy. Good podcast. Not great. How many stars? Five stars? That's great. I love this podcast. Okay. Maybe he means good in the way that like
Starting point is 00:43:42 like Superman's good. Like we're doing good. Yeah, we're doing good. Always look forward to the witty conversation they have good in the way that like Superman's good. Like we're doing good. Always look forward to the witty conversation they have about crappy movies, which is awesome, often boils down to Katie's pessimistic but realistic. Thank you for saying that. Oh, thank you for saying that. Alan's fan boy enthusiasm for almost every single one of them. Strongly disagree. Starting point is 00:44:06 but always appreciate the fun they seem to be having. Oh, thank you. Thank you so much. That's so kind. Bonus points are saying my home Detroit's not the big shit hole on lepricon. Not that big of shithole on the leprosome. Oh yeah, it's fine. You guys are doing great. Yeah, it's on the ups. Thank you for also saying that my views are pessimistic, but also realistic, because I did something stupid recently,
Starting point is 00:44:27 which was to search for our podcast name on Twitter to see what people are saying that in posts that we weren't tagged in. Oh no. I don't recommend it. Most of it was like about me and how terrible I am for not liking things that people like. What? Because people people thi people people people people thi people thi people thi people thi people thi people thi people thi people thi people thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thoom. thoom. thoom. thoom. thoom. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. toee. toea. toea. toea. toea. toea. toea. toea. toea. toea. toea. toea. toea. toe. for not liking things that people like. Starting point is 00:44:47 And, um, I felt bad for a while. I felt really bad because, you know, don't read your own reviews. Oh, for sure. But I'm going to read that one because it's really nice. Thank you. Definitely don't read reviews that you're not tagged. Some dude was like, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, th, the, the, the, the, thi. thi, thi, thi, thi, that, thi, thi, t, ta, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, tha, thi, thi, thi, and, thi, and, and, tha, and, tha, and, tha, tha, and, and, tha, tha, and, tha, and, and, tha, tha, and, tha, and, and, thi. Some dude was like, um, I decided I'd finally give were will Famule Famule Famule to try, like we were knocking down
Starting point is 00:45:10 his fucking door, like we were spamming him. And he was like, one half of them doesn't like Dante's piranha, I'm definitely not going to finish. And I was like, dude, it's a shit movie. And also like, just because you like something doesn't mean that someone else who doesn't like it doesn't have something uh... Poor geeks one half of them doesn't like Dante's piranha the one the one with the tits see I thought you were gonna say a I thought you were gonna say Dante's inferno and I was like I don't think we've ever talked about that we have because we talked about it in the hellhouse of weeks weeks the the the the hell the the the hell th weeks th we th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thus in thi thi thi thi thi thi thi the the the the the tho thi thi thi tho-I tho-I tho-I tho-I tho-I tho-I tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho th. th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi the the to the to the to toe toe toe toe toe toe toe thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thed about it in the hellhouse weeks. Starting point is 00:45:49 Dog. That's where you're going to plant your flag that you must like piranha to hang with you? It had zero likes. Yeah, I mean, we want people to listen, please. But, uh, you don't like it, get the fuck out. I'm not going to make you stay here. I don't come to your house. Just...
Starting point is 00:46:06 What if I did, though? What if I found where like I lived and I showed up and was like, piranha sucks and just left? I was, I thought you meant we'd come to your house, like, we're not like Jehovah's Witness. Yeah, tell you about World Ambulance. Do you like horror movie? Have you heard the word of World Amulance? Maybe we should. That's how we'll finally become number one in Finland again. We were three, we were number three in Finland.
Starting point is 00:46:34 It was so cool. We were almost the kings and queens. Thank you, Detroit sports guy. Thank you. I'm sorry to go off on that one. I've had theeeece't talk to me that way. Rob recently described my brand of comedy as carpet bombing. And I got really upset and he was like, why? It's a funny joke. And I was like, because people on the internet hate me. We get so many posts that are like, when I post on like Instagram about a movie, they're
Starting point is 00:47:06 like, oh, I can't wait to hear what Katie has to say about this. Because I know I'm not going to like it. But I know it's going to be fucking funny. Yeah, that's true.
