Starting point is 00:00:00 I'm... ... Is it in and then out? Huck. Huck. Yeah, that's it. Oh, ha. the. the Hoh. Is it in and then out?
Starting point is 00:00:33 Hoh. Yeah, that's it. Ha ha. Ha. Ha. Have you turned it off yet? to do? We have a whole episode to go. Hake, oh, Kati.
Starting point is 00:00:47 It's hard for me to think of how to do. Hi, Alan. It's so weird. It seems like it should take less thought than it does. What, breathing? Yeah. Yeah, it does. That does seem that way. Look for 2020. God, I'm so anxious about my breathing. I am I just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just thia. I just thia. I just just just thia. I just just thia. I just thann't thann't than't than't than't than't thi ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha ha Well, I'm a 2020 breathing think about it. God, I'm so anxious about my breathing. I am, I just had nachos. I don't want to blur you out of here. Oh, it's okay. I can't smell anything.
Starting point is 00:01:25 Welcome to the season of the Stuffy Nose, yeah. Yeah. But it's a new season for us. It's the month of Folk horror. Folk horror. thu horror-hah-hawr. Har. Horror. Horror. Horror. I was listening to, I think it was, yeah, when I was editing the most recent episode. I was listening to it and I say kindergarten and it's drives me fucking insane. Wait, what did you say? Kendergarden? Kendergarten.
Starting point is 00:01:41 I don't say kindergarten. Kindergarten. That seems very Western PA actually. Actually it goes over the opposite. If the word was kindergarten, we'd say kindergarten. Right, yeah. The more you say that word, kindergarten. Why were you talking about kindergarten in our podcast about horror movies? Oh, because I was... It's a kid hardly wait episode I was talking about how I'd been in high school with kids that I went to? Kindergarten with? But, but? th, but? th, but? the? th, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but I, but I, but I, but I, but I, but I, but I, but I the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. I, I, I was. I was th. I was th. I was tod. I was today was today was today was today was today was the. the. I was the. I was th. I was the word, I was the's a kid hardly wait episode I was talking about how I'd been in high school with kids that I went to, kindergarten with, but I said kindergarten. But this is fascinating material. And this movie is so short, we don't have enough to talk about. Just kidding, it's like more than a quarter of your work day.
Starting point is 00:02:21 What movie are we doing? The 2019 Hit Film? Midsummer. Midsummer. It is sort of a pastoral, springtime, pagan ritual, foxy horror movie, so we thought it would be a great way to kick off the month of March. Movie set in July where they keep talking about the May Queen? Whatever. Is it said in July? I thought they were going there in July. Huh. Oh, you know what, that explains a little time question I had at the beginning, which was like how long was it between her parents' death and her finding out about the, uh,
Starting point is 00:02:59 like the trip. But it must have been a while because it was snowing really hard when she finds out about her parents' stuff. So it must have been a couple months at least. Yeah, yeah. Okay. Well, now I know. This is our second Ariastair film. And he's only had two, right? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:03:14 Yeah, yeah. We've covered his ovoire at this point. The first one, of course, being hereditary, which seeing that's, thia, the film, the film, the film, the film, the film, th and, the first, th and, the first, the first, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th th th th th throoo th to. to. th to. th th to. thoua. th th th th thi. thi. thi. thi. th th and then seeing this one, I think I went into this movie, this is the second time I watched it, but the first time I watched it, I think I expected something very different and was very surprised by what I got. Yeah, I put this movie off for a really long time because I'm not ready for it. Yeah, I don't want to do this again. But it's so different. So different. Yeah, it's still very suspenseful and very stressful, but not in the same way that hereditary is. Very traumatic. Very dramatic. But it still somehow feels like a walk in the park compared to hereditary, yeah. It feels like a light and fluffy material.
Starting point is 00:03:56 After I watched the first time, I was like, hmm, I think that's a comedy. I think I watched a comedy movie. The last two scenes make me believe it is a comedy. Oh my god, they're so good. So this is the story of Danny, who has some hardship in her life. Yeah. A shitty boyfriend. Yeah. And uh...
Starting point is 00:04:18 Shitty family life. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Her sister has some mental issues. And kills her parents and herself in the opening scene to this fucking movie. The way that scene is shot of like the hose going up the stairs and the duct tape on the doors and like the firefighters coming up the stairs and like the garage door opening, just the way that shot like close to the floor, it is like so memorable and so good. His, like, there were so many the th a that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that shot like close to the floor. It is like so memorable and so good.
Starting point is 00:04:45 His like there were so many times in this movie where I was just like, oh that fucking shot is so good. Yeah. But anytime like he does stuff where he uses architecture. Yeah. And like so when we go into the house, everyone, they're coming in on the floor. And then when they go up the steps, we go up to the top of the steps and look down on them. And so he's just like using the house to show movement. It's so good. That is art. A lot of things we've watched are not art. But then it ends with like a shot of the sister dead, wide-eyed, with a hose taped over her mouth. And like one of her eyes blown out. Yeah. It's narly. It's narly. And she's covered in vomit where she's pumped on herself too. Oh and then you see the mom come out in a body bag. Yeah. Hi, welcome to this movie. Well, I mean he likes to go for the throat on all of this shit. Like he's gonna fuck you up one way or another. Yeah. Yeah. Ari. Aster likes a the the the the the the the the the f. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. It's like. It's. It's. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's like. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It. It's. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It's. It. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. seems. Yeah, Ariaster likes a fucked up family. Yeah. Because it might have some problems.
Starting point is 00:05:51 I was reading some stuff that was saying, that was saying that like, this is just sort of retelling hereditary. It's like family trauma, but it's like move from family to relationship. Yeah like the true horror in this film is like being co-dependent. Sure. Yeah. Yeah. Oy. And he her boyfriend. Christian? Christian? She does a great job with the with an American accent until that she has to say Christian. Christian? She even does like yelling an American accent really well.
Starting point is 00:06:25 I know is a thing that always impresses you. He's not hot enough to justify his behavior. He's just a bunco Chris Pratt and Chris Pratt's already pretty bunco IMO. Yeah, like if she was with Cheety like that would be a different story. It's a very attractive man. But not not Christian. No, no. Just it just looks like the rest of them. It's just a dude. Yeah, he's just a dude But she is very co-dependent on him and like those opening scenes where she's like You can tell he's not being helpful to her and she's like, thank you. I'm very lucky to have you. You're just like, uh-huh. That whole thing of convincing yourself that that's the situation you're in? And also just being so afraid of being alone that you're like, well, you know, what if I
Starting point is 00:07:14 leaned too hard? Like, ugh. Geez. Yeah. But he's also keeping her around. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:07:27 And he's gaslating her and doing that like, I'm sorry thing. That's the worst. I'm sorry? Don't apologize if you told me in it. Don't apologize if there's a question mark in the sentence. Ugh. If you're putting finger quotes around him. And she's playing it so well where she's doing the like, well, it's just, the, I just wanted
Starting point is 00:07:50 to know that's all. Like, that's all is so stressful to me. I think Florence Pugh is a fantastic actor. Yeah. You loved little women. Oh, you guys should have just seen Alan's face light up with the mere mention of little women. Oh, hi, I'm your grandma. I loved little women. But you did, that's great. She was really good in it. Yeah. Which sister is she? She's Amy? Okay. She's the the one who goes to Europe. Right. Yeah. Where? Europe? Europe? Where you went to kindergarten? Yeah? Yeah, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the me. Me me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. me. me. me. me. me. me. me. M me. M me. M me. M me. M me. M me. M me. M me. M me. M me. M me. M me. M me. M me. M me. M me. M me. M me. M me. M me. M me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Me. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Amy. Okay. She's the the one who goes to Europe. Right. Yeah. Where? Europe? Where you went to kindergarten? Kindergarten and Europe. With your friend Dawn.
Starting point is 00:08:33 And Don. Still don't know which one I said. So we get up, we build up to the death of her parents and then there's these, this like, wrenching like not on the level of Tony Colette but still like when she's just screaming no over and over when she finds out that her parents are dead and her shitty boyfriends holding her yeah it's brutal it's brutal yeah God he loves that the pain of women no oh yeah a little bit a bit. He's just exploring it. That's all. I feel like at least this one there's like kind of like some like just desserts that happen in this movie. Oh sure, oh yeah. Nice compared to her right and tear war not so much. No, no I wouldn't say so. So then we cut to a scene where she's at a party. She finally is like ready to go out of the house. But he does not want to take her. No. I'm just going to be gone for like 45 minutes. Yeah. She's like, well, I'll just come and he's like, okay. Yeah. Just fucking break up dog. I know, he feels bad. It is hard to, I'm sure, break up
Starting point is 00:09:35 with someone right after they've experienced a huge tragedy. After every family member is dead. Yeah, to leave every every every every family to their to their their to their their to leave their their to leave their their their family to leave their family their family to leave their family to leave their family their family to leave to leave to leave to leave to leave to leave. Yeah, their family family family family family family family family family family family family to leave, to leave, to their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, thi. Yeah, thi. Yeah, I. Yeah, thi. Yeah, thi. Yeah, tapy. Yeah, tapy. I's, tapy. Yeah, tape, togu. I's, togu. I'm, their, their thi. I's, thi them entirely alone. On that level you can kind of feel sorry for him a bit. Because if you do want out of a relationship and you feel like you're trapped by whatever, not wanting to be a bad person, you kind of have to feel for that a little. He's not doing a good job of anything, but like that sucks too. We should mention up until this point we've seen, at the very beginning we see this giant tapestry painting that sort of like lays out the movie I think. It didn't do it too much examining but I was like that probably goes out the movie. And then when he wakes her up from her nap to see if she wants to go to the party or not or to basically tell her that he's going to the party. Yeah. She's laying underneath a poster of a bear staring at a little girl. Oh, I didn't notice that. Oh, no. Wow.
Starting point is 00:10:28 So there's all this like, we're already getting foreshadowing of what's going to happen at the end of this movie. Do you like the extreme foreshadowing of the tapestries when they get there of the little love story? Yes, 100 percent. And then I love how they were like, did you, did you get that? Did you guys, should we have pants slower? No, that was slow enough. Okay. They just stop on the pub dripping one. It's so funny. That's where I'm like, this is a fucking comedy.
Starting point is 00:10:57 There are comedic lines in this movie for sure. For sure. But she goes to the party with him and that's where she finds out that he's like, someone's just like, yeah, we're going to have a great time in Haga's land or wherever they're going. She's like, what? Huh? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:14 This is brutal. So she finds out that he has already purchased a ticket to go in like two weeks for I think six weeks was the plan. I told you I was thinking about going. I told you I wanted to go. God he's the worst though. Really? Yeah. Yeah. If she was on Mori somebody would have told her to kick him to the curve. Yeah. Yeah. But she doesn't have anybody seemingly. Yeah. Just that one friend she calls that we never hear from again. That friend should really tell her to break up with him. Step your game up, friend. Yeah. This is your fault.
Starting point is 00:11:49 Everything that happens from this point on is that girl's fault. Do better, Jenny. So we skip a scene where she's like talking with Pele, the friend who's from the village that they're going to, the commune. He's so even and level-headed. So soft-spoken. But he's already being a little bit like mischievous because he's drawing something. And she's like, what are you drawing?
Starting point is 00:12:14 It's like, oh, no, just the table. Just nothing. Because he like closes his book real, thrown. to go back and look again. I think it was just the table. Oh, but yeah, he was just like being weird about it. That is weird. But he tells her that he's very excited. Nobody else is excited that she's gone but he's sto-stoat that she's going. Oh, Rick, is he like walks in and tell his friends moments before she comes up that he invited her, but he's not to the too'....... the the the the to be. the to be. to be. the the to be. the the. to be. to be. to be. the toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe, the thi. toe. he's he's he's he's he's he's he's hea hea hea hea he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's to goe. Nobody. told. told. told. tolde. tolde. tolde. toe. toe. toe. toe's toe's toe's toe's toe's toe's tolde toe told toe hea hea hea hea hea he's he's he's he's he her to come. Just in the second before she walks into the room. You're like, oh Christian is a shit bag. Yeah, he's not just shitty to her. He's just shitty to everyone, which really gets played out a number of times throughout the movie. It really does. But they have this little interaction,
Starting point is 00:12:56 Pela and her, and he like talks about losing his family and she loses it of course. Yeah, and this fucking tha th. tho's th. the the thi the to to to the thi the thi the thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thoes, thi. thi. tho o' tho o' tho o' tho o' tho o' to to to to thi. Yeah, to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the one's, the one's the one's the one's the one's the one's the one's the one's the one's the one's the one's thi. the. theananananananananananananananananananananan, thean. thean. thean. thean. thean. thea. Yeah, thea. Yeah. And this fucking amazing scene that I wish was not in the trailer. Oh, I didn't know it was in the trailer. That's a bummer, yeah. She gets up off the couch in their apartment and you start to hear plane, like, ambient sounds of a plane. And she walks, yeah, I'm explaining this to you. When she walked into the bathroom the bathroom the bathroom the bathroom the bathroom the bathroom the bathroom
Starting point is 00:13:24 When she walked into the bathroom of the airplane, like sobbing. It's so fucking good. Yeah, yeah, basically it like spins around and she's in the airplane sobbing. Why is she going on this trip? Baby girl, no, stay home. Work on yourself. I get that. I mean, it really kind of pans out for in the end. In some ways, yes, in other ways, not as much. Yeah. So they get to Sweden, it's a four-hour trip.
Starting point is 00:13:49 That car flipping upside-down shot? That is so dizzying. So I have this theory that this is the like world-turning topsy-turvy. This is the portal that they're going through basically. Yeah, like the point of no return, too. And it's just such a cool's such a cool shot. Yeah. And like the fact that he rides on it for a while where you're just upside down and driving and you go under the banner and all that. Like longer than you think you ought to be upside down, yeah. For sure. But it works. Yeah, and it's really disorienting. Yeah, and throwne, the thrown. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that's that's that's that's that that that's that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's the fact the fact the the fact the the the the. the fact that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's first scene where they're tripping and like the way they're talking to each other like and then when she's like talking to herself and being like stop it
Starting point is 00:14:33 you're okay you're okay I was like oh god this all feels so real. Yeah I've never done shrooms but I imagine like they nailed it pretty good. Yeah they got a bad trip a stressful trip. trip. trip. trip like. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. the the the the the the the the the the their their their their their the way the way the way the way the way the way the way the way the way the way the way. the way. the way. The last time I took mushrooms, I had like, and when I say last time I don't mean like last time and I'm planning to do it again. My most recent venture. I mean, the absolute last time, it was very much one of those where I was like, I I can't stop like shaking. Like, the end, when Christian is shaking. Like, the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi's thi's thi's thi. Last thi. Last thi. Last thi. Last last last last times thi. Last last last last last last last last last last last last last, thi. Last, thi. Last, thi. Last, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. Last, thi. Last, thi. Last, thi. Last ti. ti. Last ti. ti. Last time, time, ti. Last ti. Last ti. Last ti. Last ti. Last thi. Last th I can't stop like shaking. Well, like at the end when Christian is shaking and shaking, like I was like, oh, I remember how that feels when you're tripping. Like, it is very, very good and very accurate. I will say I will say I've been drunk enough that I've had to demand that everybody has to lay down. When Mark is like, everyone lay down, please lay down. to be like, thi, it, it, it, it, it, it, it th, it th, it th, it th, th, th, th, th, th, thi. thi. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, like, thi, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th is th is like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th. th. th. th. th. th. th is th is thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th is th is th is thi. thi. th is th is thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. people right now. I was like, I've definitely said those words. I love when she looks down in her hand and the grass is growing out of her hand.
Starting point is 00:15:31 That is very stressful. It looks like a terrible cheetah pet and I don't like it. But then I was like, I bet that would feel pretty cool if he just petted it real quick. Yeah, I guess. Yeah, I th so th so tho on, I tho thi thi thi thi thi they thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi tho tho tho tho thi that the the' the' the' the, I the, I the' the' the' the' the' the, I the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi the theanananan, theananan thean. theanananan tean. thean thean thean. theaa thea thea thea theeea they start tripping, and then she wanders off into the woods by herself. That could be good? No one should ever let you do that when you're tripping. Oh man.
Starting point is 00:15:51 No. It's a buddy system. For sure. Yeah. How did you feel about the walk into the village with the big sun, arch thing thatthat they had. It looked great. I think it was so beautiful. So beautiful. This whole movie is so god damn beautiful. I like that you're hearing music, like pastoral and folk music, but then it likes pants over and there's just people playing recorders and flutes, which I also thought was very funny. I think that's intentionally funny. So it's like beautiful and then it's funny and then it's also just like the ultimate horrors. How do you feel about bright light horror movies? Like just that sunlight, like because it's there's one or like the opening scene is dark, and then there's one nighttime dream sequence. Right. Everything else is
Starting point is 00:16:37 lit. Right, I haven't really thought about that in terms of horror movies because like I was thinking about in terms of this movie where it's all just part of like how disorienting everything becomes they don't basically the sun doesn't completely set so it's like never quite dark there so it's like day is night night and day is day and all is chaos and that's really part of the disorienting factors for them but I can't imagine I can't I can't first of all I can't imagine living that way sure yeah and second I hadn't thought about horror movies taking place in the daytime I can't think of any others like quickly off the top of my head the do bird box a lot of that's in the daytime
Starting point is 00:17:15 the daytime was that a horror movie it doesn't matter they're in the dark so I consider that to not be a daytime horror movie but the the th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus the the the the the thi thi thi the the the the the the the the the th th thi th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th the the the the the the the the the the the to to to to to to to to to to to to the to the to the the the thi the the thi movie. But there's just something about that, like, Nighttime's spooky. Anaconda? Anaconda, yes. Okay, thanks. Yeah, no, Nighttime is the Spooky Times. This movie never gets Spooky Times. That it does.
Starting point is 00:17:35 Oh, Katie, I just remembered. What? To celebrate us doing this Northern European horror movie, I got us some Icelandicicicic Iceland Iceland Iceland it's both a little bitter and a little sweet at the same time. So like a little bit of you and a little bit of me? We'll let you guys decide which is which. Alan's the sweet one. Thank you. Yeah, it's kind of dark chocolate I think.
Starting point is 00:17:59 Okay. If you want to take a little nibble. Oh, I didn't mean... Oh, broke it. Sorry now I'm I'm I'm I'm th I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I will. Oh, I broke it. Sorry now I'm going to chew into the mic. How's that sound? Mm-hmm. This is my favorite chocolate bar. Ooh, I like that. Where you get this? A little place I like to call Whole Foods.
Starting point is 00:18:16 Never heard of it. A little indie chain. Mompop. Wow, that's that's great. Oh, hell yeah. Thank you for sharing this with me. Of course. I figured it would put us in the mindset. Mm-hmm. Also the fact that we're on the TV and film charts in Norway. Yeah. Hey, Norway. What are you doing up? up? Norway, you up? It feels good man. You up because the sun is all the time. All the time. How you sleep? I'm gonna get those sun cancelling blinds. Oh boy. Like hotel rooms. Yeah. Yeah, I can't imagine.
Starting point is 00:18:54 I can't imagine. We're still having a conversation, huh? I can't imagine what that does to your like cicadian rhythms. Oh, I know. I'm like a tiddy baby if I get half an hour less sleep than I need. You know what I mean? I can't imagine my whole world just like shifting enough. You know? I wake up like, oh, I don't know if I can today. Speaking of making a whole bunch of people sleep in a room with a baby is literal torture. Like why are they doing that to these poor people?
Starting point is 00:19:30 Babies should have to be somewhere else. That room is so gorgeous. It's beautiful. It's a nightmare to sleep in. And you like, like, there's a bunch of times there's like jokes in the background. And in that scene when they go in like, oh yeah, this is, and Pela is explaining to them, I'm trying not to say his name, like the Brazilian soccer star, Pele? He's like, yeah, when you're like born to 18, you sleep in this communal room. And Mark just in the background goes, honey jerk off.
Starting point is 00:20:07 Yeah, that guy is such a nightmare. And I feel like he is in this movie to make you feel like Christian isn't that much of a nightmare because he's not as bad as Mark, which is like the bar so low it's buried, you know? Yeah, yeah, yeah. They're all, those three dudes are sort of like, the three sides of shitty dudeness. Because it's like the extremely horny dude, yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:32 Who just doesn't care about anything about, except Sexon, the like, social climber at any cost, and then like, the fuck up who just keeps kind of falling forward in his life. Yeah. Social climbing, huh? Yeah, I feel like the fact that I just keep calling it, do you watch The Good Place? No, I don't actually know anything about it. Oh, okay. William Harper Jackson, Josh in this.
Starting point is 00:20:59 He plays a character named Cheety in the Good Place, so I just refer to him as Cheetyhy in my notes. Yeah, I thought maybe you were just being like slightly racist or something and I just let it go. Tidy Gannacogneye, that's his name on the Good Place. He's a good dude. But like the fact that he, um, he's just like completely disrespectful in his attempts to get the information that he wants. Yeah, to to to to to to to to to to to to to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to Gotcha. That's what I was thinking of is like the social Fiber-right-ending cost. Yeah, to get his thesis in like who gives a shit? Book boy. I do like that he is just furrowed brow through the entire movie. Like there's one time that he smiles. I was like, oh, God's got a good-ass smile. I don't even think thi. I can't even think. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the social. Yeah, for the social. Yeah, for the social. Yeah, for sure. Yeah. Yeah, for the social. Yeah, for sure. Yeah, for sure. Yeah, for the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the they. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I the. I the. I the. I the. I th. I the. I the. I th. So. th. So. So. So. So. So. th. So. So. the. So. the. the. the. So. the. the. the. the. the. the. time that he smiles. So I was like, oh, God's got a good-ass smile. I can't even think of when it is. It's when, I've glad that I logged this, it's when she goes into the apartment and tells them that she's going to Sweden. Oh, he does like. And he like smiles at her and then goes back to reading. Oh, okay. Yeah. It the Gateway or whatever and the first thing you see is like the church house
Starting point is 00:22:09 where they keep the books and it's weird. The architecture is all fucked up on it and it's sloped down. Yeah, it's like a weird triangle that doesn't make any sense. You would never build something that way. Yeah, yeah. It looked like that again is just very disorienting when you first come in. The whole look of the village is really interesting the way, like the buildings are spread out and then there's like the one bright yellow building far in the distance and yeah. And then like blue tarps all around that in the field, yeah. What was that about? I don't know? Oh interesting. I tho. I tho. I tho. I tho. I tho. I tho. I tho. I tho. I tho. I tho. I thu. I tho. I thu. I thu. I thu. I thu. I tho. I tho. I tho. thi. thi. tho. tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho the tho the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. I theee. thee. Well, and the whole like Aryan wet dream of all these people that live in the village? When they said like they have to
Starting point is 00:22:51 bring in outside people I was like you're picking them real carefully. You know what I mean? Like Simon and Connie are going to be of no use to you. Yeah. So so what's going to happen here is a harvest celebration, not even a harvest celebration. I figure out what they... It's like a solstice. Solstice. Can I ever remember that word? It's just tough for me. It won't stick. Yeah. Solstice celebration, they do it only once every 90 years, this particular version of the ritual. And they begin with an atestupa? Yes. 90 years, this particular like version of the ritual. And they begin with an at a stupa.
Starting point is 00:23:27 Yes. Which is something I didn't know before this movie. It's a real thing. When I figured out what was going to happen, but when the first time I watched it, I was like, oh god, no. First I was like, it would take forever to carry those chairs up there like that. Because it's so far up. It. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's the the their. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I their. I their. I their. I their. I their their th. I thi. I thi. thi. I thi. I thi. thi. the first the first the first the first. their their their their their their their. their. their. their. I their. I their. I their. I their. I their. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. I ti. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. the. I thi. I thi. I was like, it would take forever to carry those chairs up there like that. Because it's so far up. It's insane.
Starting point is 00:23:48 I mean, they must have been standing there for days watching them carry those chairs up the hill. Hill, mountain? I'm going to go with mountain. Clifface. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. at a stupa is that like it was this thing in Norway or in Sweden I'm sorry
Starting point is 00:24:05 where people just jump off cliffs when they were no longer useful. Yeah. It's bonkers. I mean I get it like a lot of places I mean if you're not if you're not resource rich and someone can't produce anymore, like. Yeah. Because there's, I can't remember if it's, I can't remember where it's, there was some Asian culture, like the grandfather would just go and sit by the river and wait to die. Good Lord. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:39 That's so sad. It is, but it's part of this like, the circle of life, man. Yeah. It's just crazy. But the fact that this, th, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, th, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I'm, I'm, I'm, I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't, I can't, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, the the fact, the fact, the fact, the fact, the fact, the fact, the fact, the fact, the fact, the fact the fact the fact the fact the fact the fact the fact the fact the fact th. that, the fact, the fact, the fact, the fact, the fact, the fact, th. tha, that, that, the fact, the fact, that, the fact, that of this like, the circle of life, man. Yeah. It's just crazy. But yeah, like the fact that this has a name that you're, that's a stupa. Yeah. Just take a laugh to the other stupa and me at the kogos. It's just, and the kaguay is.
Starting point is 00:24:58 It's just, and the way it's explained, I mean, so basically, if you have th you th you th you th you th you have th you have the th you have the the way the way the way the way the way the way the way the way th you have not the way the way the way the way the way the way the the the the the the thi that is that, that is that is the that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's the way it's explained, I mean, so basically, if you have not seen this movie, they go up and throw themselves. These two older folks from the village go up. They've done like a ritual beforehand, they've had a meal where they're clearly like the guests of honor. They are taken up on like chairs that are also litters basically, to the top of a crag and one by one do like a little interpretive dance and then throw themselves off and the woman's head I mean Ariaster loves a fucked up family he loves a fucked up he lest to see what happens if you smush a head so this is where I was like oh dude you might be fucked up because when she falls I laughed did you because I was
Starting point is 00:25:40 like ha ha this is so insane because it like, she hits that rock and then just hamburger sprays everywhere. Yeah. And like, meat is flopping. It's just like. And then when the dude, so she goes down face first, as you would do. As you've got to do. He goes down feet first. Like he's jumping in a goddamn swimming pool. Sir! So you get a nice mangled leg. Oh jumping legs first is just not the right thing to do. And this is the first time that we see like group paint? Yeah. So he starts screaming and the whole crowd starts screaming with him. And like rending their garments and like rolling around and like just like losing it. Yeah I love the scene too because when we first get to the at the stupa we pan
Starting point is 00:26:32 through the crowd and there's three people wearing sashes and then one guy is holding a giant mallet I was like oh that's gonna come into use a cartoon mallet for sure like it's like a Tom and Jerry mallet. I was going to say Wiley Coyote ordered that from the Acme Mallet Company. Exactly. And it does not cut away from a dying man being hit with a giant comedic cartoon mallet. It does not cut away. We watch it like four times. No cuts. I also laughed at this because the first guy goes up and smashes his head and you're like, oh alright, well they killed him.
Starting point is 00:27:06 Yeah, his head, because we see his head get smashed. Hands the mallet off to the next person and they take a whack and I was like, okay, it's little, oh, third person you're going to come up and do this again? And they are winding the fuck up to fuck up, the fuck......... So, it was fucked up where she put the hammer down for a second and pointed out of the park. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. But it was just like, oh, this is absurd.
Starting point is 00:27:34 Yeah. If I'm going to hit someone with a mallet, though, I'm going to do that wide Ken Gurphy Jr's stance. You know what I'm talking about? Does that mean anything to you? I don't, but if it helps I picture James Hetfield's guitar stamps. Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's like, yeah, yeah, that's a cross over there. Yeah, yeah. And so then we see a conversation between Danny and Pella where it's like, um, he's hitting on her in a way. And he's talking to her about like family and how his, he's like, my parents burned up in a fire. He keeps yelling it at her, my parents burned up in a fire.
Starting point is 00:28:14 And then he asks her like about Christian. He's like, does he feel like home to you? And then it quick cuts to the bodies of those people that jumped off being dumped into a fiery... Oh, they're pire, so if you burn on it, the kids, their, their, their, their, the kids, the kids, the kids, the kids, the kids, the kids, the kids, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, their? Like, the bodies of those people that jumped off being dumped into a like a fiery... Oh, they're pire, so they can burn on it. Yeah. I love that later the kids are collecting the ashes. Oh, I didn't even notice that. There's like teens that are going to get their ashes. Jesus. Oh, also during the Atastupa, I don't know if that's the event or the event, I that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's the event, I, I, I was that's that's that's the event, I was that's that's that's that's. I was. I that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's their their their their the event, I was the event, I was the event, I was the event, I was the event, I was the event, I was the event, I was the event, I was the event, I was the event, I was the event, I was the event, I'm the event, I've the event, I've the event, I've the event, I've the event, I've the event, I've the event, I don't the event, I don't the event, I'm the event, I think it's the event. Okay. Simon and Connie, who are the Ingumar brought from London,
Starting point is 00:28:49 they are bugged out and they're like, we're fucking leaving. This is absurd, which is 100% how you should react to this situation. My feeling is you don't react like that. You stay very quiet and then you slip out under cover of night. Or you or you're just like, oh, that's, did I? You just, and walk away. Yeah. And I think you draw zero attention to yourself.
Starting point is 00:29:11 Oh, man. I'm going to do in a situation. I'm going to stand real still. I'm going to wait until nobody's looking and then I'm just going to up out of the their out of the the the their....... I will live. Oh yeah, there's a thousand choices anyone could have made and still lived at the end of this movie. Right. Simon and Connie not so much. No. No. But this is the first time that we see. So the next day Simon is missing. Connie's bugging out. Yeah, they tell her something like he got a ride to the train station and there wasn't enough room for you. So the work they're they they they they they they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their th. So. Yeah. Yeah. th. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. th. S. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the thi. the the the thi. thi. the thi. th wasn't enough room for you so the work they're going to come back for you. I could have sat on his lap, we don't break traffic laws.
Starting point is 00:29:49 The fuck? That was so good. And this is like, Danny's very concerned obviously for Connie being left by Simon. And this is where we see the rift is really started with Christian and Danny, where she tells him and he's like, he's already moved on to his thesis portion where he's like stealing Josh's thesis basically. It's so shitty. It's so shitty.
Starting point is 00:30:12 And he's like dismissive of her concerns about this guy. Yeah. And she just looks at him like, you're a piece of shit. It's like the first time we see who actually realize that it's not about her. Yeah, yeah. That it's totally about what a dog-o he is. He also forgot her birthday and was reminded of it and brought her a shitty piece of cake. And like, where did he get that cake so fast though? It was in the living quarters.
Starting point is 00:30:37 And we're, yeah. There was like a party cake. Like, it's so sad too because when she's talking to Pella about it, he remembered that it was her birthday because she had told him beforehand and he'd drawn her a picture of her, which is not a great, not a great gift. Because that could, that can break so bad for you, you know? Yeah. Is that what my nose looks like? All right, thanks. What if it's just like a boardwalk caricature? My teeth are not that fucking big. I'm sorry, I told you I like to skateboard. But she says to him, like, she's like, oh, Christian forgot. And he's like, oh, well, and she's like, no, no, no, I forgot, I forgot to remind him.
Starting point is 00:31:23 It's like so fucking disgusting. That is the true horror of this movie, isn't it? That she that she that she that she that she she? That she? That she? That she? What that she? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? What? that she? that she? that she? that she? that she? that? that? that? that? that? that? that? that? I? I? I? that? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I, that? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I? I, that? I? I? that? that? that? th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th no, no, I forgot, I forgot to remind him. It's like so fucking disgusting. That is the true horror of this movie, isn't it? That she felt that way. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, for sure. Great. I just read my note where I described them being burnt on the pire as a meat-faced barbecue. Oh, nice. Very compassionate.
Starting point is 00:31:44 This fucking guy. The sweet one. I loved her dream where she dreams in the night that everyone's leaving her behind. That was so upsetting. And then start screaming black smoke. Yeah. You know, like what her parents would have inhaled. Oh my god. It's so bad. It's so brutal. And that like, in that dream, she's like flashing on, of course, the meat face people. And she sees their bodies at the bottom of the cliff with her sister in the hose there. Yeah. I was like, you're a fucking dick. Like, this is such a dick move.
Starting point is 00:32:21 It is such a dick move. It is such a dick move. Uh, because earlier during her first trip when she got there too, she like hallucinates seeing her sister and her parents at home. Do you remember that? And just kind of like a sweet scene? Yeah, like a calm but her sister like looks at her like knowingly. And her parents are probably dead, like by the way they're set up, yeah. Cool. So you want to talk about Mark pissing on the ancestral tree? Yeah, Mark pisses on the ancestral tree. The guy starts screaming at him, it runs over,
Starting point is 00:32:52 and in Swedish yells, put your disgusting tick away. Yeah. I want to say that now, every time I walk into a bathroom and someone's already out a year old, but you're disgusting to go. I mean, Mark is an asshole, but in his defense, someone should have told him that was the ancestral tree, like when he got there, like, don't sit on that, you know what I mean? Like people might sit on a fallen tree. Don't, don't toucest. I also love that, like, he's like just kind of a douche and the whole time he's fucking vaping. Well, yeah, it's like pastoral beauty. Gusting.
Starting point is 00:33:27 And it's like such a good indication that someone's an asshole. Like when you would see people like vape in the museum before they banned it. And it's like, just because you can't try and thaugh. to me, that. I went and saw a movie not too low ago and a the thi. thi. thi. to. thi. to. to be. thi. thi. toe. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. t t t t t t t t t too. t too. too. too. toeea. toea. too. too. t too. thea. too. thea. tooea. t t t dude was vaping in the theater. You can't fucking fap in a theater? Come on, dog. I know we're watching a thrash metal documentary, but to like, slow your role. To be fair to him, in defense of him, because I'm defending all the assholes tonight, a thrash metal documentary is probably the only place you can vape the th pretty good. It was pretty cool. So, yeah, so Mark, like this guy's
Starting point is 00:34:07 gonna beat the shit out of him and now Mark is like, this guy's gonna kill me when they're at their meal. He's just staring him down. And previously is when we see the tapestry that describes how to make a love potion. Oh yeah, do you want to talk through the panels on that? Sure, it's looking at a guy, thinking he's a th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the they. they. they. they. they. they. the the the they. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thee. theeeeeate. theea. theea. theea. theea. thea. thea. the. the. the. the. th.the panels on that? Sure, it's looking at a guy thinking he's cute, yeah, trim in your pubs. Yeah, like, I mean these are step one step two here. Menstrel blooding into a cup, right. Uh-huh. Um, baking your pubs into a pie. Yep. And then the guy has googly eyes and the two of you were in love. Yeah, and then you're kissing and then I think you're th you're th you're th you're th you're th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thin thin thin thin thin thi thi thi their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their the the st st. st. steps are st. steps are steps are steps are thea- thea' thea' their their their their their? I wish I had that tapestry to hang in this room. Yeah, I'm sure you can get that somewhere. I'm sure it's somewhere on the internet. Dear Etsy, click, click me, click.
Starting point is 00:34:52 Can you embroider this for me? I did want to start picking up needlepoint. Maybe I'll do my own. I think that's an excellent first project for you. You could critique my pubs. So when they're sitting down at this meal and Danny was brought in to help make the meat pies and they're all serving their food. And she's gotten like some camaraderie with the women making the meat pies too, it seems like they're starting, they're like bringing her into the fold. Yeah, that's exactly what I was thinking.
Starting point is 00:35:21 Oh, I'm sorry I made it. No, no, they the bringing, the br the f the f the f they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're bringing, th. I like that we have the same thought about folding. Human folding. But he, so Christian gets a special pie delivered to him. Like, they're delivering them down the line and then a woman walks up. It's like, oh, who And then he bites it to his pie and he's disgusted and he pulls out a piece of hair and Mark goes oh is that a pub? I think so. Yeah I was like yes Ariastra we got it. Yeah we saw the goddam tapestry. And this is when Danny says that she could see Christian bailing on her. Yeah this is where we see her getting the to to the the to the to the the the the to th th the th th th th th he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he th. he he he he he he he he he he's he's he's he's he's he's hee. He's hee. He's hee. He's hee. He's he's he's he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he th. He's th. He's th. He's th. He's the is the is the is the is the is the is thee is the is thee is the is the is the is the is the is he he the is Danny says that she could see Christian bailing on her.
Starting point is 00:36:05 Yeah, this is where we see her getting even further into realizing that he is the worst. Yeah, truly the worst. Yeah. Which is nice. I'm glad that we see it happen over time. Yeah. And Josh has asked if he could take pictures of the, what is it, the Rue? Rottie? Yeah, and the guy's like, no, definitely, definitely, definitely, do that. And it's written by this Oracle who is a, they say throughout the movie that they're very specific about who can breed with who, right? So you're not inbreeding, except for their oracles are extremely inbred.
Starting point is 00:36:37 This is very bizarre. It is very bizarre because when you think about extreme in breeding and like how does that even work because you can have to go a couple generations right? I would think. Yeah. It's very odd. So this character is Rubin. Yes. And he doesn't really serve much of a purpose except for what happens to Mark right? And Josh. And he's there for Christians sex in times too. Oh is he? He's laying in the background watching. Oh I didn't notice that. Oh boy. Oh God. And I think he's just there to like look odd. Like well the camera like zoom in on his face and stuff. Oh I don't think I realized he was in the room. Yeah, yeah. Oh damn. Gross. Weird. This whole thing is so fucked up. So Josh sneaks out in the night to, the the night, like, like, like, the night, the the the night, the th, th, th, like, th, thi, thi, like, thi, like, thi, the thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, the thi, thi's the thi's thi's thi's thiiiiiiii's thiiiii's thi's thi's thi's thi, thi, thi night to, with the night when it's a little bit darker. Yeah, it's dusk.
Starting point is 00:37:27 To take pictures of the thing. And Mark has gone missing at this point as well. He went off into the woods with a lady who's been giving him the eye. And we said, Stink eye. That's not the one. The less than stink eye. So Josh goes into the like church library and he's taking photos of the book and you see in a big paint of glass there's someone, someone standing behind him. Mm-hmm. Which is also something he did in her her hereditary a lot. Yeah, you're right.
Starting point is 00:37:54 Because there's also a scene earlier on when she goes into the outhouse and like lights a match and there's someone standing behind her. That's right. Yeah. That is so scary. Yeah. I forgot to talk about how scary. the the to to to to to the to to the to to the the to to the to the the the the the the to the the the the the the the the the the the the to the the the the the the the their. their. their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. the the the the the the the the the the the their their their their their their their their in the mirror when she's like tripping. Yeah. That is so scary. I forgot to talk about how scary that is. Yeah. And never look in a mirror when you're tripping in alone, by the way. Oh, I can't imagine. Just like your eyes are gonna look all fucked up. You're gonna get scared, don't do it. You're gonna accidentally say candy tod. mouth. Nobody wants that. And what if it was just Tony Todd not getting him? Hey, what's going on? Too much Tony Todd? I am an actor. You still have bees in your mouth. Oh, is that happening?
Starting point is 00:38:36 So there's someone standing behind him in the glass and we turn around and it's Mark. Yeah. But it's someone naked from the waist down. Oh, it's so pale. So what I was reading about this, it's like he's wearing, it's someone who has skinned Mark. Yeah, and is wearing Mark's head, skin and leg skin. So he's got his peeper. Oh, that was Mark's peeper. Oh, shit. I thought it was just a, I thought it was just a I thought it was just a naked from the waist down wearing someone else's head. That's probably what it is but I like the idea of making human pants. Yeah I mean you're gonna have to be this is a Julia from a hellraiser two problem though because like your
Starting point is 00:39:17 legs are gonna have to be bang on same size in your waist and your waist. to keep their dick up on your where you're on your dick on the dick on the dick on the dick and then when I dick you dick we dick that sound was me jumping out the window yeah oh no I should do at a stupa Alan stupa um oh it's so sad and Alan Stupa. Oh, it's so sad. And we did have somebody, I asked for questions as I do when we were recording, and somebody said, what do you think of that ritual where like when people like kind of run out of their usefulness they, I mean, is that something you support? I was like, what? What? What? Do we need to make a political statement on out of a stupa? To be fair, though, I am totally in favor of assisted suicide, so whatever? Sure, but, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I mean, I th, I th. th. I th. th. th. that, I that, I that, I that, I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to to, to to to to. to. to. to. to. to. upa? To be fair, though, I am totally in favor of assisted suicide, so whatever. Sure, but it's gotta be your choice.
Starting point is 00:40:08 Like, I guess people did it on purpose. It seemed like they wanted to go. It's true. I mean, they describe it as being like, you know. This amazing thing you're doing for your village. Exactly. I guess that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be their their their their their their their their their their thi. thi. thi. thi. tooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. their toooes. too at a stupa even though I find it very sad. Can he wear a t-shirt? Like just pro at a strupa? I cannot.
Starting point is 00:40:30 So, but just the, but just the, the scene of the dude wearing Mark's head when he like comes up and looks down, because Josh gets knocked out with the hammer. Right. Again, the hammer comes into play. Yeah. I don't know who did that. Someone. Someone. Someone. Someone. Someone. Someone. Someone. that. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. thi. the. Could th. Could that. Could. Could. Could. Could. Could. Could. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that. I that. I th. I th. th. I the hammer. Right. Again, the hammer comes into play. Yeah. I don't know who did that. Someone was just in the room with him and knocked him out. But then Mark Head comes and stares at him. And he's like Mark's still making like a dufy face, even though it's just a skinned head, which I think is also actually very funny.
Starting point is 00:40:59 It's like, what, what's up? Whiz! Whiz! Whiz! And throughout the movie, we've had the instances of the weird breathing that we did at the beginning? Oh, um... Ah.
Starting point is 00:41:17 Do it? Yeah, you're right. I don't know why I have to think about it. th. Yeah, you're right. I don't know why I have to think about it. What's wrong with me? It's that in solstice. They won't stick. I'm just not good at pagan stuff. If you haven't tongue up yet, you have now. I do like that my, the one woman who Christian is going to make a baby with, her name is Maja. Maya. Maya. Sorry. And every time I typi tipe it out out that that that that that that in that that in that in that in that in that in that in that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that in that in that in that in that in that in that in that in that in that in that in that in that's that's that in that in that in that in that in that in that in that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's. It it. It's. It's. It's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's the the the the the the the the the the the the the thea. the one. the the one the one the one the one the one the one the one the one the one the one the one the one the one the one the one the one her name is Maja? Maya. Maya, sorry. And every time I typed it out, my tablet auto-corrected it to Maga.
Starting point is 00:41:49 Oh no, oh no. It should have been Mazda, make Swean. M-A-J-A. Make America juicy again. Let's make America juicy again, though. Like the sweatpants? Yeah. I always wanted a pair of sweatpants that just said objectify my ass across the ass. I thought that would be very funny. It's a lot of words, the problem. I wanted juicy in quotation works. It's juicy but it's J-O-O-C-E-E.
Starting point is 00:42:25 It's like, what? You might as well just get Jodisi if you're going that for. Ah, would-wear Jodisi sweatpants. I'm very into your occasional Jodisi references, which people definitely love. Who's Jodisi's hit? It's like a real, real good ballad, yeah. Oh, yeah. I can't remember the words to it. That's Casey and Jojo.
Starting point is 00:42:48 That's Casey and Jojo who are members of Jodisi. Whoa, I didn't know that! Fuck, I can't remember Jodas. I'm looking it up. We'll see what Jodisi's most played song on Spotify is. And like, why do we do these things? Freaking you perhaps? Hmm. Hmm. Let me just, let me hit it. God, where did we come? How did we get here? Oh, Mark's Paper. Yeah. I mean, just, I don't know. There's just something, I think It Follows was the movie that hit this the hardest. Like, naked
Starting point is 00:43:22 people in not naked situations is fucking creepy as hell. Very creepy. Especially like a menacing naked person. Yeah. And not in a rapy way in a killing way. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Oh we see a bear in a cage too, right? Early on. Because the, I think it's Simon is like, are we just not going to talk about the bear in the cage? And Ingummar just goes, it's a, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it, it, it, it, it, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the the, th, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the the the the th, th, th, the the th, the th, the the the the the the th, the the the the the the the the the the th, the the the the th, the the th, th, the the th, the the th, th, the th, is the th, is th, is th, is th, is th, is thi, thi, thi, the thee an thean, thean, thi. the an thi. thi, thi, thi, thi not going to talk about the bear in the cage? And Ingmar just goes, it's a bear. And they move on. Okay, so the next day after we see Mark's peeper and dead face, Danny ends up drinking like mushroom tea and participating in the Maypole dance competition. And Christian has thrown Josh under the bus saying he definitely stole the book that's missing. Oh yeah, he's like we want want wea wea wea wea we want wea we want wea we want we want we want we want we want we want wea wea wea wea wea th th th th th th th th th has thrown Josh under the bus saying he definitely stole the book that's missing. Oh yeah, he's like we want nothing to do with him and we would be so embarrassed. Like, I don't even know if you'd call him a friend. So weird.
Starting point is 00:44:12 Just such an asshole. And the whole time Danny's looking at him like, the fuck. Yeah. Oh man. And she's also great because she's like, she has such a presence, but she's like five foot tall. Yeah. So it's like, she's really commanding in a, yeah. She's very commanding.
Starting point is 00:44:30 That's a great way to describe her. I wanted to watch, I haven't watched it yet, but she's in a movie, a W. W.E. movie, where she plays a wrestler, what? What? What? I'm thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. She's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's, th. It's. It's. It's. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. the. the. the. thi. th Mike Bollum was yelling at the internet right now. I'm looking. Okay, I think it's called like Fighting with my Family. Oh, Paige? Yeah, that's cool. Is she real goththy looking? Yeah, yeah. And like, she's like, uh, like Carrie Oldman, like she doesn't look the same in any of the movies she's in. Oh, interesting. Her dad has played my Nick Frost of like Hot Fuzz and Sean of the Dead, like the chubby dude. Yeah. So I really want to watch that because I think like she does have that like it's like yeah that presence about
Starting point is 00:45:13 herself that would be great in a wrestling like situation. I deeply want to watch this movie. I didn't know it existed. I'm very excited about it. Dewein the Rock Johnson's in it. Of course he is there is is is is is is is is is is is is is is. Is their. Is their. Is their. Is their. Doen. Doen. Doen. Doen. Doi. Doi. Doi. Doi. Doi. Doi. Do. Do. Do. Do. Do. Do. Do. Do. Do. Do. Do. Do. Do. Do. Do. Do. Do. Do. Do. Do. Do. Do. Do. Do. Do. Do. Do. Do. D. D. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. D. I. I. I. I. I. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. th. the. th. the. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I movie? He's in it. I'm surprised he didn't just pop out at one point in this movie. Pops off from behind the ancestral tree like, fries and grind everybody. I thought he was just going to be like the, oh is it Mortal Kombat where the whooppy guy pops out of things out of the side of the street and goes, whoopee! Whoopi? Whoopi? There's a deep cut for you. No, but you're right. So Danny starts, she starts dancing in the Maple dance. And so the instructions are being yelled, the dance instructions are being yelled in Swedish. And a lot of the Swedish in this movie is not subtitled for us, which I think is to make
Starting point is 00:46:02 us feel disoriented, because they are disoriented too. So she's high and doing this dance in the sun seemingly for hours. Mm-hmm. As like it's like a musical chairs, people fall out and you just keep going around. But literally fall out. Yeah, they're vomiting because they've taken mushrooms. Yeah, or they just trip over, it seems like if you hit the ground, like it's like a like a royal rumble where if you hit the ground you're out. Huh, you brought it all together. Yeah, well, if you're going to start talking about wrestling, I'm going to get wrestling on the brain. It's just hard for me.. Yeah, that's happening for her a lot in this, which I really like, especially when,
Starting point is 00:46:47 after she wins and it's crown the May Queen, and then they're sitting at the big meal. And the flowers and plants are just pulsating, but like just lightly, like enough to catch your attention, but not enough to like steal the scene, which is just a nice touch. Yeah, and like like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the thoom, thoom, the the thoom, thoom, tho, tho, th., th. th. th. th. th. th, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, they.. they. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooom., and th. thoooo. th. Yeah, like the meat on the table that's jiggling and wiggling. That I don't like so much. But she's like in control everybody now, she's controlling when they sit down and stand up.
Starting point is 00:47:09 And while this is happening, Mark, or sorry, Christian is tripping balls. Right, and he's doing that like head down, I can't stop shaking thing I love the old man that's like, well, Christian's like, I don't know what's going on and the old man just claps in his face. Yeah, he was, why did you do that? He makes like pooky lip before he's, woo, woo, woo, woo, woo. It's nice to see him suffer. It's true. Yeah. And that's not done. No. No. And that. And that's that's that's not. And that's not that's not that's not that's not that's not that's not that's not that's not that's not that's not that's not. that's not that's not. that's not. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's not. that's not that's not. that's that's that's that's that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. And that's. And that's. And that's not. And that's not. And that's not. And that's not. And that's not. And that's not. that's not. that's not. that's not that's not that's not that's not that's not that's not that's not that's not that's not that's not th. that's not the the the th. that's not that's not the that's not that's not that's not that's not that's not that's not that's not that's not done. th No. Get ready. He earlier got told that he was a perfect mate for Maya? Maya. Maya.
Starting point is 00:47:48 I don't know why I can't get that one. Because you read this movie. You read it instead of watching it. And I was supposed to say he's told in Siv's house. She is like the the lady boss of the whole place. Yeah. And her house is so dope. Oh my god it's beautiful. It's insane. And there's a burning. th. th. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. th. I. I. I. I. th. th. I. th. I. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm th. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I'm. I'm. I's beautiful. It's insane. And there's a burning bear on the wall that he's staring at. Yeah. It's so cool. Yeah. And I know how are Yester's like foreshadowing? I want to know what all the other stuff was that was printed on the wall now though? Like was it all was the whole movie? It was just story boarded up there. Maybe. So he gets pulled into the sex room. they're the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the th. the the th. the the th. Yeah. the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the th. the the tho. the the the the thoo. the the the tho. tho. th. th sex room, or they're gonna do the sex in, or she's laid down on a beautiful bed of flowers, right? With like 12 naked ladies. That's how I lost my virginity too. And they're singing a beautiful song. It's gorgeous. Except for me it was rainbow in the dark. Also beautiful song. I wish that was a joke. Oh no! I know I hate myself.
Starting point is 00:48:45 I don't do your rules. Yeah. Hard pass. That's a dope song though. I'm so glad my husband doesn't listen to this podcast. Just find you wistfully staring off into the middle distance a finger to rip on the dark. When I see lightning! But it's like a Bjork album is happening while her.
Starting point is 00:49:15 It's always hits. So they start fucking. Yeah. And this woman comes over and is like beautifully singing in Maya's face. She's an angel. And then starts singing in Christian's face. And then it's going on for too long, so this old woman comes up and just starts pushing on its butt. Yeah, like finish already. Not like hard or anything, just like, yeah, come come, come, throw those.
Starting point is 00:49:42 Don't get tired. I love that when everything's done, and Maya is like bowling her legs up and like, you know, making sure she's been inseminated. He goes running outside and his dick is just covered in blood. And I was like, oh, that's probably a tidbit that I didn't need to say. I thoee, some diicks are purple. th th th th th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, just, just, thi, just, thi, like, thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii, thi, thi, thi, th I didn't need to see. Oh, it was covered in blood. I thought he just had like a real purple dick. I didn't know. Some dicks are purple. Oh, for sure.
Starting point is 00:50:10 Yeah. Historically. Yeah, he's covered in blood in his cross-cal areas. Oh, you know. That's gross. It's upsetting. Yeah, I'm hurt by this scene. But you know, like the first time I saw this movie, it's weird, like, what he's done is terrible and fucked up, but like, it's been, you're so disoriented and they're like so immersed in it at that point that it almost seems like they're just going along with whatever everybody's doing,
Starting point is 00:50:42 it almost doesn't seem like, it's weird.there's like a weird I don't know do you know what I'm saying yeah there's like an aspect of it there's like this is what's supposed to be happening right this is what's been ordained to happen exactly and we just live here now and this is just what we do we do what they tell us yeah yeah fuck you I will do what you tell me yeah yeah yeah th thu I th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th I th I th th I th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thu I thu the th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the in even though the other women of the village try to keep her out. She sees this happen and she starts basically like whaling. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then they all start whaling with her, which is how we are to understand that she's now one of them.
Starting point is 00:51:17 Yeah, yeah. She's been accepted. Also, that's like a, that's, that's, that's, that's an extremely, that's, that's,ing down and whaling, which is very evocative. Absolutely. And biblical. Yeah. I also love when she, because she sees Christian in Flagrante. And when she's like, oh, what's going on in there? And the poem's like, that's not for us.
Starting point is 00:51:37 Let's go over here. And then she makes like the ultimate pouty face, like, she's so expressive and just like, hmm, and walks like, she's like a peanuts character. Yeah, she looks like a little kid that's like, mm-mm, no. Yeah, and the woman is just like, I think you should not. Yeah. So then we see her sitting on a dais covered in this like floral gown thing. Later is one of the funniest scenes in the fucking movie. I know, I know.
Starting point is 00:52:08 And they're basically, Christian has run around, he finds Simon, who's been blood eagled. Yeah. With his lungs. That's a thing. It's a Viking thing. Is it? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:52:17 Oh, damn. Like the most insulting thing you could do is like take someone's lungs outside of their their their their their their tho. thing you could do is like take someone's lungs outside of their body while they're still alive. While they're still alive? How does it even fucking work? His lungs were pulsating. No he wasn't alive was he? Oh my god. Oh my god. I thought he was just chirping. But he's also got daisies in his eyes or like sunflowers or something. And he also just sees Josh's licks sticking up out of the ground which I liked. It was like, fuck it, we couldn't be bothered. I did too, except that later when we see Josh, he has both his feet. Oh, I think he was just buried under there like they were trying to grow him.
Starting point is 00:52:53 He's not big enough for the fire yet. Yeah, he was a shorter man. And then someone like gold dusts him, they're th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thin, thin, th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. Oh, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, he. Oh, th. Oh, he. Oh, he. Oh, I, I th. Oh, I th. Oh, I th. Oh, I thi. Oh, I thi. Oh, I thi. Oh, I thi. Oh, I thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. Oh, I thi. Oh, I thi. Oh, you're right. They blow some kind of powder that paralyzes him into his face. Mr. Fuggy's him. There you go. So, Mr. Fuji, I think it was. Well, there's also like the voodoo guy who did that too. Papa Shango. Yes, Papa Shango.
Starting point is 00:53:15 Yes, Papa Shango. Hey, quick plug, my friend started a non-racist, non-sexist, what's the word for what? Like all-inclusive? All-inclusive wrestling promotion here in Pittsburgh called Enjoy Wrestling. Their first show is going to be in May. Oh shit, that's awesome. They got a space and everything. Yeah, yeah, over in Uptown.
Starting point is 00:53:40 Yeah, it's going to be dope. So look them up. Enjoy wrestling Pittsburgh. Go see the show. I wonder if we can do like ringside announcing for a podcast. Um, I bet they would be happy to be involved in some way. And yes. So she gets to the side. So Christians put into a chair. We haven't even talked about how beautiful everyone's clothes. No. Their clothes are fucking gorgeous. When they have that May Day dance dress for Danny to wear I was like. I I I I I. their. their. Yeah. Yeah. their. Yeah. their. their. their. Yeah. their. their. their. their. their. their. they. they. they. they's. they's. they's. they're. they're. they're they're they're. they're they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. they. I. they. they. the. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're. they're they're they're they're they're they're they have that May Day dance dress with Danny to wear, I was like, it fits her like a glove. It's so beautiful. So Christians in like this big wheelchair. Like an old tiny wicker wheelchair. Like almost like a wheelbarrow, wheelbarrow, that's a fucked up word of wicker. Yeah. And they lay everything out for they're like, hey, we got to kill nine people. We've already got eight. So you get to say, and we've got Ulf and Ingamar have decided they're going to go. Why do they do that? I guess it's an honor? Yeah, yeah. It's so fucking sad. It is extremely sad. But also that is that how Pela's parents died? Yeah, oh
Starting point is 00:54:46 absolutely. But I thought they only did this once every 90 years. Oh boy. Is he much older than I think he is? He does seem older than them. Sure, but not by that much. And so they're like, hey, you get to pick who it's going to be this guy? Or, I'm sorry, is it going to be tube yarn? thion, or is it going thion thi to be to be thi to be Christian to be Christian to be Christian to be Christian to be Christian to be Christian to be Christian to be Christian to be Christian to be Christian to be Christian to pick who it's going to be. Is it going to be this guy? Or, I'm sorry, is it going to be tube yawn or is it going to be Christian? And the next thing we know Christian's inside a disemboweled bear, where he belongs. And they've told us that he is paralyzed, he can't move, he can't speak, but he's awake for all of it. Because we see from his point of view for a minute. Q. to to to to to to to to to to the to to their. to their. to to th. their. th. to th. th. th. th. the. the. to to to be a to be a to be a to be a toe. toe. thi. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. their, their. their. their. their. their. And, thea. And, toe. And, thea. And, th. And, they. And, the to Twitter and look for hashtag bear guts. Alexandra Hill did a live tweeting of watching this movie with the hashtag bear guts and it's pretty amazing. That is pretty amazing. They do put that bear's hot dogs on the outside. So yeah they sew him into the
Starting point is 00:55:39 bear costume. He's in the yellow building with everybody else who's died. Yeah. I love that Mark's head is just a full of hay. See I couldn't tell if that was Mark or Connie because it looked like it could have been Connie. Connie's the soaking wet body that they're wheeling in. Is she wet? I could it just seemed something seemed very off like she was under water for a while. Okay. Okay. Because yeah Mark was the one that was stuffed for sure. That makes sense. Yeah. They're just like tossing his body. Yeah, they're like dropping him up. Like he weighs nothing. And so, and then they wheel Christian in and light the blaze up. So one of the
Starting point is 00:56:18 town elders comes in and gives Ulf and Ingmar like like some U-tree sap or something. Yeah, for the pain. It does not work? I wouldn't imagine. No, because we hear them just screaming as they're burned alive, which is really upsetting. And then again all the villagers start screaming and yeah. Oh yeah. And then Danny starts screaming because she's one of them. Yeah. And then she starts laughing. And then she smiles. Yeah. Yeah. And that's the end the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the tree tree tree tree tree. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the pain. the pain. the pain. the pain. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the tree. tree. tree. tree. tree. tree. tree. tree. tree. tree. tree. tree. tree. tree. tree. tree. tree. tree. tree.'s one of them, and then she starts laughing. And then she smiles. Yeah. And that's the end of the fucking movie. But we forgot to talk about her walking across a field wearing this like never-ending
Starting point is 00:56:52 story costume style of like, she looks like a creature from the never-ending story of flowers. It's like some kind of giant bug, he's upset and wonder her because she has like, bubem. the the the the the the the the th the th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that's like, that's like, thin, that's kind that's kind that's kind that's kind that's kind that's kind that's kind kind that's kind kind that's kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind kind, th. And it's so it seems to be so heavy that she can't walk very quickly at all so she's just like bobom, bobom, bobom, bum bum. But like crying at the same time. She does so much crying in this movie. She does. So much crying. It must have been exhausting to make this movie for her. Pugh looks like a giant bug. She does. So that that that that that that that that th. It th. It th. It th. It th. So that is Midsummer. Yeah it is. Katie.
Starting point is 00:57:28 Alan. Would you go to the ratings face? Sure. Keep me a rating on this movie. I loved it. Did you? So the first time I saw it, I loved it and was like, huh? That was something. And then the second time I saw it, I feel like I picked up a lot more and had a lot more like emotions about it, you know, how you do. Sure. And I loved it even more the second time. Oh nice. I'm gonna give it a 10. Yeah I am. I loved it. You know what for me to give a movie that's on for two and a half god-dame hours a 10, it has to be really, really good. Because you know how much I hate to sit still still to sit still to sit still to sit still to sit still to sit the the the the the the the their their their their their their their their their th. thi thi thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, their, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. Because you know how much I hate to sit still for that long. It's true. But I think that the length is almost necessary to get you in that mindset of like, well, you live here now, everything's fucked up and upside down and you just go along with it. I feel like the length, amount of time you spend there is necessary.
Starting point is 00:58:19 Yeah, I feel like it's definitely you feel the two and half hours of that movie, but it's not like, you're never slogging through it. No, it seems like it should be, because not that much happens. No, and it takes a while to get to the Killen's. Yeah, oh yeah. So, I will give this movie a nine. I really enjoyed it. I had much more reaction the first time I watched it, for sure, because because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because. There's so much like me laughing uncomfortably because I'm shocked about laughing. Yes, yes. But yeah it's a
Starting point is 00:58:49 really fun ridiculous movie and like I feel like it's something I could watch again and it will keep revealing more and more of itself to me like this dude makes masterful movies. Right. Like the fact that this is his second film. It's bananas. I can't wait for his turn. He's got to do like a bad movie. Oh yeah, it's gonna have Vindiesel in it, I'm sure of it. But yeah, like this movie, I felt like the first time I saw it, I was so shocked and also just so taken aback that it wasn't what I expected after her. Sure. Sure, yeah. That's, I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I'm thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. It's thi. thi. thin thin thin thin th. It's th. It's going caught but didn't really think about all of the idea of her like now having a home and having a family, like how Pella says to her like, I always felt held and now and like he, that's what he wants for her. Yeah, and now she has it, you know, for better or for worse, but there's got to be times where you just wait. My friends are dead. Yeah, my family's dead. But now she's there's got there's got there's got there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's there's got their their their their their their their their their their their th. thi thi their thi. These friends. She's got Olna and Maya and you know. And she'll be sent out to tour-born. Toerik people to come here and get murdered. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:59:52 Yeah. Well, once he did it once, probably not that bad the second time. She already murdered her boyfriend. To be fair, he had it coming. It's true. No one feels bad for it. No, you really don't, do you? Uh-uh, no. And it's not, it's not plate, like there's not that like lingering shot. You see him burning and just like, okay? Yeah. There's no like, oh my, I feel so bad for this guy, right? Because I think that's also sort of tempered by the fact, that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you feel bad for them. Yeah. Because they didn't think this was going to hurt, I think.
Starting point is 01:00:25 I love that they make eye contact and then Ulf starts screaming. It's like, can you look away? Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Do you want to go to mail back? All right. Katie.
Starting point is 01:00:36 Alan. We got an email that I'd like to read. from someone whose first name is just a period. I won't give their less name. Okay. Super anonymous. Super anonymous. They said, I found your podcast three months ago and I've already crushed well over half the episodes. Nice. That's insane. That is. That's like three a day.
Starting point is 01:00:56 I work midnight shift completely alone and listen to tons of podcasts. But after finding where Wolf Ambulence, the list of podcasts has slowly sssss, toeeeeeeeckeckeckededededededededededededededed toe, to to to to to to to to thii and thi and thi and thi and thi and thi, thi, thi, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. th. th. th. th. th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. thi. thiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. thi. thi. list of podcasts has slowly shrunk down to your show and maybe one or two others. I'd like to know what they are so I can make sure they don't produce any more content. Your energy, humor and chemistry is a major breath or fresh air in a sea of dry, true crime, and boring horror review shows. Oh, thank you. Thank you for keeping me awake. 10 out of 10. Thank you. Thank you, A period. Yes. I really appreciate that, genuinely.
Starting point is 01:01:30 That's really sweet. I'm glad we're not dry. No, no. No, no. We're juicy. J-O-O-C-E-E-E-E, that's the. What are we doing next week? Next week we are continuing our month of folk, folk horror. Folk is a hard word for me to say pastoral.
