Starting point is 00:00:57 Good. Oh, great. We're saying the same words. We're just using different voices. It's not good. It's not. Yeah, we're not good at this. I'm sorry. Well, thanks for listening to the last episode of World Fendments. Fun ride, fun while it lasted.
Starting point is 00:01:15 Speaking of fun, yeah. This week we watched child's play too. We did. And before the movie came on, I saw that, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, to. to. to. to. thi, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th........... th. th... th.. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, to. thi, thi, to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. We. to. th to. We're, we're, we're, we're, we I saw that the trailer was available on Amazon, so I watched that also and I was like, oh shit, this is going to be terrible. I hadn't seen it since I was maybe 10 or 12 years old and I was like, this movie is terrifying. And then I watched the trailer and I was like, ah, fuck. Use the word, the wrong terrible rather than terrify. I watched the trailer and I thought this is going to be awful and then I watched the movie and I felt differently. Yeah as did I. Should we talk about the first movie at all? You think?
Starting point is 00:01:52 It's been so long since I seen the first movie like when I was reading the synopses of the first movie is like Chris Randen. I know my hunky hunky hunky. I know my hunky, my hunky, my hunky, my hunky, my hunky, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, my, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th-a, th-a, th-a, th. th. th-a, th-a, the the the the the the the the the the movie, the movie, the movie, the movie, the movie, the movie. Should thi. Should thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. Should th I love him as per our Fright Night episode. Yeah, this made me want to go back and watch all. I've only, prior to this movie I'd only seen Childs Play 1. Yeah. Or Childs Play. The Childs Play. And but I'd seen it when I was in seventh grade and just like it didn't stick with me. The third one I recall being not great. It's it it it it it it it it it's it's they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they were they were they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they their their they they their their they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they their. I their. I their th. I th. I the. I the. I the. I to theeeeat the. I theat theeat the. I the. I the. I the. I the. I was in seventh grade and just like it didn't stick with me. The third one I recall being not great, it's like about a military, they go to a military camp. Right, right. But I've never seen any of the Chuckie bride.
Starting point is 00:02:32 No, Jennifer Tilly ones. No. No. Those are supposed to be fun. Yeah. Well this movie was pretty fun. Yeah. with sort of a sneak peek into the play pals factory, which is what Chuckie is, he's a good guy. Yeah. And three of the first four men in the movie have huge glasses and comb overs,
Starting point is 00:02:51 which I was really into. It was a real good look. Yeah. They were scientists. Right. And one guy was like a corporate chill. Yeah, that one guy that's in I didn't even bother looking up his name, but he's in, he's in a ton of stuff. He's the guy. Yeah. Basically, the first movie leaves off with Charlie, Charlie, as I know him,
Starting point is 00:03:10 the adult one. He's Charles. Yeah, Chuckie being uh... Chas, sometimes. From what I gather, the first movie ends with Chuckie being burnt and shot in the heart by Chris Sarandon's character. Yes, detective Mike Norris. Mike Norris, such a good detective name. Such a good detective name. And such a hunk. I love that you didn't know that he was a hunk for her to watch a frighten. I know. I was like, oh, seriously.
Starting point is 00:03:37 the flight where I watched the princess. And there was nothing, like prior to Fright Night, you weren't like, oh shit, look at Comperning. I mean, I've literally looked at his face, Prince Umberning's face so many times and I was always like, eh, Friten I just did it. Yeah, man. Anyway, it's all the manufacturing of him that made him evil. Right. Or something. I don't know. It was, it was very loose, loose cut, loose. We're like, we're going to put it back together. Right. We're just going to put it back together. But there was a really great scene of them like taking all the charred flesh off the doll. Yeah. He he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he. He. He had he. they. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. theea. thea. thea. thea. thea. the. the. thi. th. th.tongue that was really upsetting to me for some reason.
Starting point is 00:04:26 But that stuff was really fun and you know they put his eyes back in and I guess that's where the possession was. You know that that's that's not a detail that matters. What really matters is that these dudes get fucking electrocuted for like no goddamn reason while they're putting them back together and it's hilarious. Because it gets like like the fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking fucking the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th fu fu fu their their their their their their their the putting them back together and it's hilarious. It gets like electrocutedly punched through a window. Yeah, and it's incredible. Defenestrated. I love it. I love it. It was awesome.
Starting point is 00:04:52 Yeah, it was awesome. And the big corporate underling is like, the tel. And the CEO says, stick it up your this mess. Take care of it. Take care of this. And the corporate underling is like, what should I do with the doll? And the CEO says, sticking up your ass, which I fucking loved. I loved. Then he took it home and I was like, is he, is he gonna stick it up his ass? I think he was probably going to. He was had to get that vodka, got in foster care while his mother recovers in a psychiatric ward because no one believed her about Chuckie. No. I thought she was dead.
Starting point is 00:05:29 No, no. She was so well I was paying attention. Why? Why didn't you find it upsetting? When Andy later was like, well, I ever see my mom again and they're like, oh yeah? Did you think they meant when? It's like, temporary foster care and he gets placed with this family. Yeah. And I was like who is his dad? Is he the dad from like a sitcom of the era? Oh, I know I know him. I know I know him and then I got on
Starting point is 00:05:51 IMDB and I was like fucking beef. Fu-fundam of the paradise. It's mom, it's beef from Phantom of the Paradise, and it's the nurse from America Werewolf in London. And I was like, what the fuck? They're pushing me in a room together. It was so cool. So cool. Yeah, this movie is laudite with like, it was really cool. Yeah, thi that the know him from? Like, it was really cool. And I think that's one thing that's movie really excels at
Starting point is 00:06:25 is that the acting is really good in this otherwise shitty movie. Like, they really- I would disagree with that statement. I mean, this is not high art. This is a- It need not be a high art to be good. shitty in the most loving way you can. It was on par with like something like Terror Vision which that guy is also beef is also in that or like just any like 80 shlocky like like I know this is 1990 but this was totally the 80s. Oh yeah
Starting point is 00:06:53 let's live the decade hangover. Yeah. So also living in this foster home is a young woman named Kyle who is the fucking coolest. Yeah she's so cool I I honestly think she's why I started the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. thi. thi. thi. thi. the thi. the thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. thi. thi. th. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. th. th. the th. the the thi. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the thi. the th she's why I started smoking when I was like, you know, 15 or whatever. Right. She's so cool. And I remember thinking she was so cool when I was like 10 and I'm 31 now and I was like, Kyle's so cool. Yeah, she's got great fashion.
Starting point is 00:07:16 Can I just curl one side of my hair and like flat in the other side. How can I be more like Kyle? How can I be more cynical? When we first meet her, she's got on that like backwards leather captain hat, that biker cap. Oh, she's so cool. And she's talking about that. She's trying to save money and the mom's like, we need you to spend time here. And I was like, man, Kyle's just trying to do Kyle. You know what I mean? She reminded me a lot of Mary Stuart Stuart Stuart Stuart Stuart Stuart Stuart Stuart Stuart Stuart the the th-S the th-S th-S the th-S th-S th-S th-S th- th- th- th- th- th- th- th- th- th- th- th- th-s th-s th-s th-s th-like's th-s theat-s theat-s theat-s the. that, that, that, that, th-like, that, that, that, th-s, like, that, th-s, like, like, like, th-s, like, like, like, like, like, th-s, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th-s, like, like, like-s, like-s, like-s, like-s, like-like-s, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, that, like, like, like, like, like, like, wonderful. Oh, I don't know that. Yeah, it's like a lesser John Hughes film that I really love. Yeah, I saw it on my 13th birthday. Oh, yeah. Yeah, it's really good movie. But if you like this character, you'll love Mary Stewart Masters's character from
Starting point is 00:07:59 that she's like a drummer who always wears fringed fingerless gloves. Oh, God, that's so cool! See, like, if I did that now, it wouldn't be cool? Sitting in my office job with fringed-fingereless gloves, I'm like, hey Barb, get the phone. You would just have to never point it out that you were doing it. Like, just that if someone acknowledged. Are you wearing those? What gloves? These are just my hands. It's just my hands. Like frilly, frilly hands. So yeah, we meet Kyle and she's amazing.
Starting point is 00:08:26 She's so good. She's been to like all kinds of foster homes. She's just like super cynical. She just wants to live her life. Yeah, it's pretty great. It's pretty inspirational. Yeah, like smoking. Well, I mean,, I'm just gonna smoke my way through it. But she also knew that it was bad for her.
Starting point is 00:08:45 Did she? Yeah, because when Andy took a little Puff-Puff, Oh yeah, she gets bad. I know, these are bad for you. Yeah, she's got a hard gold too. Yeah, she really takes a shine to Andy, sort of a reluctant shine. But Andy really needs an ally because. Because this is a movie about how adults just don't understand. Like adults do not understand anything.
Starting point is 00:09:05 Yeah. Adults are the worst in this movie. Yeah, they just want to keep their little porcelain knickknacks together. Yeah. What the fuck was that? I don't know, man. Beef was such an asshole. You're a foster parent?
Starting point is 00:09:17 You have to not be a shit sack, probably. He's just the worst. His name is Tommy. He's feeling about the doll? Like worst foster dad. I don't know. Which which brings up a question. The foster mom, the nurse from America wherewulf in London, was she supposed to be drunk all the time? Did you think she was drunk? She seemed drunk. I thought she was just depressed because she had a barren womb. Didn't you think that? Didn't you think that? No, I didn't, but yes, now I do. Wow, no, I didn't think that she was drunk at all. Okay, she seemed like she was just tipsy the entire time.
Starting point is 00:09:56 She was on screen. She's like, is she British? Yeah, she's half British in this movie she just keeps saying like Andy Andy but yeah no I was just wondering if she was she just seemed drunk to me the entire time yeah maybe I like your barren womb theory better than that thank you so basically Chuckie is still inhabiting this doll's body right and he's coming back for Andy which begs the question like why does he need Andy's soul sol and body or why can't why can't you take anybody's why specifically Andy barclay's th the this? the th? th? th? th th th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. She's th. She's th. She's th. She's th. She's to to to to to to to to to see th. She's the to see to just just just just to see to to to to to just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. thi's thi's thi's thi's thi's thi. toe. toe. toe. toe. to. to. to. to. to. the the the the the the the the which begs the question, like, why does he need Andy's soul and body? Or why can't, why can't you take anybody's? Why specifically Andy Barkley, age seven or whatever?
Starting point is 00:10:29 Oh, no, it's explained. Is it? Yeah, he was the first one that he shared his secret with. Oh, that's right. Oh, that's right. the line. I need to watch the first movie. Yeah, to figure out like when I read the synopsis for the first movie and there was like voodoo and I was like, what fuck are you talking about? Yeah, well, the ritual at the end, you know, it's voodoo. Yeah, Or whatever. When you're just going, ahbidaboo, da, da. Well, it was. I just want to to to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the ritual. the the the ritual. the the ritual. the the the ritual. the the the the the the the the s. the s. the s. the s. the s. the s. the s. the s. the s. the s. the s. the s. the s. the s. the s. the sy. the sy. the sy. the sy. the sy. the sy. the sy. I. the. the. the the. the the the the the the the the th. thooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. the s. the the s. the s. There was wind. It was the voodoo part.
Starting point is 00:11:06 I just want to know why he's got voodoo skills. Where did he pick that up? You know, that's a good question. I don't remember. Yeah. I like how we were like, you don't need to have seen the first movie to really enjoy this one. And we need to Chuckie, who is in the car with the corporate underling guy. And he comes to life and puts a gun to this guy's head.
Starting point is 00:11:31 And there's this incredible shot that I love, which is just the silhouette of the doll holding the gun to his head through the windshield. I just loved it. I loved it. It's so totally. I love that that guy who worked at the toy factory. His entire th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi thi th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thuu. thui thu. thui thoom thoom. thoom. thoom. thuuui. thoomu thoomu. thoomu. thoomu. thoomu. thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu. thu. thu. thu. thu. thu. to thu. thuuu. thuuuuuu. thuuuuuuuu. thuuuuuuuu. thuuuu entire car was filled with toys. Yeah, like, what are you doing with those? Where are you taking them? Shove him up his ass, I think? This is everything the boss assaulted told him to stick up his ass this week. So Chuckie's got this guy held hostage with the gun. With the gun that he found out of the car.
Starting point is 00:11:56 I was like, where the fuck the fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck fuck. size gun come from. He's just, uh, that his language is just blue right out of the gate. Oh, I love it though. I love it. You love a swearing doll. I love a swearing doll. I just love, there's a lot of things I love about this movie. Yeah. And he also just just laughs at everything. He has such joy for life. Like, he's just so like, he just takes such pleasure and everything. He reminded me a lot of a lot. He. He. He. He. He just. He just th. He just th. He just th. He just th. He just th. He just th. He just th. He just just just just just just just th. He just just just just just just th. He just th. He just just th. He just just just just th. He just th. He just thi. He's just like like like, he's just thi. He's just like, he's just thi. He's just thi. He's just thi. He's just th. He's just th. He's me a lot of the cryptkeeper with that. Everything he said was the funniest fucking thing you'd ever heard. Yeah and I agree it was funny. I agree too. And his face, I thought his face was very good. Amazing. Extremely. Amazing. Extremely. Amazing. I think he's extremely. Yeah. It's extremely. So so, so, so articulate. Between being Tommy and being Chuckie, like how much his face shifted. Yeah, it was amazing. So great. So, so so so so so so so so so so so so. So, so so. So, so to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the he. I Chuckie. Yeah, how much his face shifted. Yeah, it was amazing great So basically Chuckie is just like terrorizing Andy
Starting point is 00:12:50 He ties him up in his room. He's like breaking stuff around the house and basically having it blamed on him on Andy He goes to Andy school and writes on Andy's paper. Fucky you bitch When I saw I laughed saw I laughed so hard. Like I did not remember that at all. I remember there's being something written on the paper, but like my brain just didn't register that and I laughed so hard at it. I like burst of blood vessel on my eye because I'm a child. Well, there's like yellow highlighter or something all over the page and it first
Starting point is 00:13:28 says like did Chuck you piss on this thing? Does he have little doll piss? Oh I bet he does if he can bleed? And the teacher is like the worst. She's terrible. She's good, I mean she's great, but she's terrible, she's a monster. And her death is upsetting. Yeah. Chuckie beats her to death with a yardstick, which actually kind of rules. Like, she's a disciplinarian, you know, get yours. Yeah, I felt he was like exacting revenge for a lot of a lot of kids across America.
Starting point is 00:14:07 Yeah, and then you were kind of on Chuck E. Side almost. Almost. I mean, yeah. Or maybe just me. No, he was a really a likable, shoddakable, like, as a terrible, terrible, terrible, human being? Questionably. So he eventually comes to Andy's house and there's sort of like a chase sequence. Well he goes into the house and the first thing he does is he simply breaks into the house which is awesome. Yeah and he finds
Starting point is 00:14:36 the Tommy doll. Yeah. The good guy Tommy and beats it to death? Which didn't seem necessary because it's really just battery powered. And then he buries it under the swing and nobody notices this like huge patch of dirt under the swing. I don't know. I really like that he buried it though. I was real into that. And then he's like terrorizing Andy in the house. And Andy runs into the kitchen and grabs this electric carving knife? Yeah, the electric carving knife? Yeah, the electric carving knife. In the middle of the kitchen counter charged oven ready to go?
Starting point is 00:15:05 You never know when a turkey's going to come out of that oven. No, you never know when carving is necessary. So Chuckie attacks him. So him and Chuck you're going at it in the basement. And Phil beef. Beef comes downstairs and just sees Andy wielding the electric carving knife. And he's thook that that that the th and the th, he's th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thu, thi, thi, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, the th, the th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thu thu thu thu, thu, thu, thu, thu, thu. thu. thu. thu. thu. thu. thu. thu. thuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuuick, thuic sent back to the foster home to like the children's home too. Like he's over Andy. He broke that humble figure the first night that he was there. Which is what Chuckie used to beat the tobacco to death with was the humble figure and blamed it on him. So yeah they're fighting in the basement. Phil walks down stairs and the the. the the. the. the the the their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their f. their f. their f. their f. their f. their f. their f. their f. their f. their. their hu. their f. their f. their f. their f. their hu. the hu. the hu. the hu. the hu. the hu. the hu. the hu. the hu. the hu. the hu. the hu. the hu. the f. the f. the f. the f. the f. the f. the f. the f. the the the their hu. their. their hu. their. their. their. their. the. Hum. Huml. the. Huml. Huml. Huml. Huml. Huml. Huml. Huml. Huml. Huml. Huml. Huml. Huml. Huml. the f. the f. Huml. the f. the f. the f. the electric carving knife and it has needed like whoa whoa wo dog whoa let's not do this now and he starts walking down the steps and
Starting point is 00:15:48 gets tripped up by Chuckie who has like a harpoon or something? They're all kinds of weird the introduction to the foster parents they set it up like oh we have all this weird shit in our house ha ha ha because we have a barren womb and one of them with stuff one of them... Trying to fill it with stuff. One of them is a harpoon. So Chuckie grabs his ankle and he falls down the stairs and breaks his neck and it is fucking upsetting. Yeah. It is gross. And then like his wife comes down and sees his dead body and it's like a kind of emotional like didn't you really feel terrible for her?
Starting point is 00:16:21 Like normally you don't care in these movies but... Well it just seemed like that was the last the last last last last last last last the last the last was the last was that was that was the last last that was movies, but. Well, it just seemed like that was the last straw of everything in her life going to shit. Yeah. But, yeah, I can't remember what the Chuckie's one-liner was when the guy's hanging before he falls and breaks his neck though. Oh, no.
Starting point is 00:16:35 Chuckie had some. Chucky is a lot of with one-liner horror people when I was younger. Like Freddy and Chuckie didn't like him because they were all about the one-liners. But Chuckie says a lot of good things though. It's true. I think I feel like all Freddy says are one-liners. Yeah. Whereas Chuckie was also just like, I don't know. He's just like a cute bitch. Yeah. Well, I can appreciate that now. I can't. I th. I th. I th. I can't appreciate it th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I can't appreciate it th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th.that now, but I think I was just a sullen teenager and I didn't want anyone to be happy when I was younger. But yeah, he delivers like some Schwarzenegger-esque like hang in there or something like that while he's up there. Some running man like pun.
Starting point is 00:17:18 So the foster mom is like, well, I should have listened to beef, you've got to go. Yeah, she actually says I should have listened to beef, which is weird, I thought. And they're packing Andy up and Kyle's like putting a suitcase together and getting him out of the house and Laura Palmer's mom comes and picks him up. And she's like, we've placed Kyle and lots of foster homes. And I'm like, look, look at Kyle. She's been in a tel place tel. tel. tel. tel. tama's mom mom. tama's place place place place place place place place place place place place place place place place place place. the place. the place. the place. the place. the place. the place. they. they. they. they. they. they. they. their place. they's like, they're like, they're like, they're like, they's like, they's like, they's like, they's like, they's like, they's like, they's like, they's like, they's. And they's. And they's. And they's. And they's. And they's. And they's. And they's. And the. And their. And, their. And, their. And, their. And, their. And, their. And, their. And, their. And they're. And they're. And they're. And they're they're packing. And, they're they're like, they're packing. And, they're like, they're. And, they're. And. It didn't. Look at Kyle. She's been in a tel tel plays. We'll get you another one ASAP. Oh God. So yeah, Laura Palmer's mom takes Andy back to the foster home. And then Kyle gets kidnapped by Chuckie. Well first Chuckie kills the foster mother. Also sad. Also sad in like her sewing room and has like her sewing machine going so it's like gut da da that that that that that that right so my machine sounds like in case you've never heard one yeah because he and Kyle get into some big knock down drag out and then she goes to find Joanne the foster mom yeah and that's when we
Starting point is 00:18:16 find out that she's been all fucked up yeah and there's a really nice shot that I liked of there's like a knife the tho's th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th I th. th. th. th. th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's a the. It's a the the the the. It's a the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th is th is th is th's th is th's the and the and the and the and the and the and the and the and the and the and the and the and the and the and the and the and the and the and the and the and the and the floor and Kyle goes to pick it up and this doll's hand comes out from under the bed and grabs the knife and goes it back under and it's so good I love it. Yeah yeah yeah socky basically takes Kyle hostage and forces her to drive him to the foster home where Andy is right and she's like sassing him the whole way like what's the rush get real like the to the the the the the the to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. the th. th. th. thus. thus. the. the. the. the. the. the. It's the. the. I's the. It's the. It's the back. It's the back back back back back back back back back. It's back back back back back back. So. So. So. So. So. I I I I I's back back back. I I I's. the the the the the the the the the the the the th. I I I I I I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I's. I'm. I'm. I'm. So. So. I'm. So, the. So, tote. So, tote. I'm. So, tote. So. So, tote. care about this talking murderous doll. It sort of felt like a midnight run at this point where it was just like Charles Croton and De Niro going across the country together like not liking each other but you know they got it maybe there's some sort of camaraderie there in the end like when they meet up with the cop they're both sort of just like playing, like she's just sort of like delivering
Starting point is 00:19:05 like one liners a la Chuckie to the cop and stuff. So it was like her, yeah, I thought that was really funny. I'm going to meet my boyfriend. It was just her dolls to pee. This one bleeds. It was pretty good. Yeah, it was. Kyle's so fucking cool. So they get to the foster home and they pull the alarm or something? Yeah, Kyle pulls the alarm to get everybody out and to get to Andy with the doll.
Starting point is 00:19:34 And then Chuckie kills Laura Palmer's mom who runs the foster care. That was also a bummer to me. This is where I realize that everybody is stuffed with cherry pie. Everybody bleeds the inside of a cherry pie. It's true. Yeah for as good as the like animatronic stuff with Chuckie was the gore effects are terrible. I don't know if that was intentional because it's it's like gory without being gross I guess. Yeah. There's some really gory stuff that happens but it's not like stomach turning like it's comedic almost. Well yeah there's the first the first the first the first the first. T. T. T. There's the first. T. T. There's the first. T. T. There's the first. the first. the first. the first. the first. the first. the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. the the th. It's. It's. It's. It's. the the the th. the th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. turning like it's it's comedic almost. Well yeah there's the first death scene that we see when the guy gets thrown through the play glass window yeah and like they show his
Starting point is 00:20:11 face and it's covered in red and I was like oh that there's no cuts on him he's just covered in red like it was yeah it was kind of funny in that aspect of like he's doing these really awful things but like they're they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they th th th th th th th th th th th the th I th the the the the the th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th the th the the the th th the th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the ths, but like, eh, they're just kind of covered in red. Yeah. So, and like Laura Palmer's mom, her face is like stuck to the copy machine and it's making copies of her like dying face, which I thought was great. I loved it. My immediate thought was like, who has those copies? Someone has those copies. I hope that's the head shots that she gets shot, sign when she goes to horror conventions. For some reason they go to the factory.
Starting point is 00:20:45 Oh, because it's right across the street from the orphanage. That's right. Which I feel it must have been really like just upsetting for Andy after this happened and his mom went into, you know, psychiatric care and he had to go to this foster facility. And he's like looking out the window at the constantly waving good guy, uh, sign. Yeah, yeah, it was a- That's all these things are. It was really funny. I definitely laughed when they were just like, oh, I was walking across the street to the factory. Yeah, so they run into the factory.
Starting point is 00:21:15 Where it's revealed that it's entirely full of good guys toys. Like maybe this company should diversify their interests because this is not going not to. Yeah, we're all the toys in the squirrely guy's trunk and backseat where they all just prototypes? I don't know. But there's also just like one of those like scooter bikes back there, you know, like a wooden scooter bike. Scoot bike is not a word. Scuder bike. Scoot bike. So they's. they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they they they're, they're, they're they're, they, they're all, they're all, they're all, they're they're they're they're, they're, they're, they're, they're, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they. they. they're they. they're all. they're all. they're all. the they. th. th. th th th th th th that. the. the. theat. they're all all all all, they're all, they're all, they're all. they're all. they have a chase scene around the area where all of the dolls are ready to be shipped
Starting point is 00:21:45 out and they're just stacked like floor to ceiling. And Chuckie gets Andy alone and starts performing this ritual on him. Which is just put your hand on the child's head and start saying, um, nom shaba. Right. And it's, we've been told before that if Chuckie stays in this doll's body too long he'll stay there like he can't get out. He's becoming human inside the doll. Hence the doll that bleeds. Yeah. I have written here, this ritual scene is exquisite. And I stand by it. Can you elaborate on that? I can't and I won't. Okay. Okay. It just is exquisite. It was really fun. It's just fun. It's just a really fun like I enjoyed all of the fuck you don't need to know what's going on.
Starting point is 00:22:35 This is this is just happening. I really like that. Yeah. So the ritual doesn't work because he's he starts bleeding on Annie which reveals that he's been you know in the body too long right and then the my favorite scene in the movie it's like my favorite shot yeah Chuckie is standing next to a bunch of boxes and all of a sudden they're pushed down on top of him and he looks up and goes what the hell and all these boxes fall on him and I loved it I loved it I loved it I loved it I loved it I loved it I was the I was the I was the I was the I was the I was the I was the I was the I was the I was the the I was the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the ttttttttttttttea ttttttea ttttttttttttttttea the the the the the the the the the machines in the factory because they're just like very Rube Goldberg That's like, oh, this is the munching machine that munches and this is the whatever like They're just all these giant machines and you know the one point when Kyle is stuck on the conveyor belt going up into the chomping jaws of the one machine that. The fuck does that machine do? I don't know. It was a very funn't thine thine thine thine thine thine the fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun fun kind of because the factory floor has all of these just like everything's brightly color
Starting point is 00:23:26 And it's also running at night with nobody there Which seems like an OSHA violation like there's all sorts of OSHA things in here that I feel are probably like Machinery with no supervision dripping molten plastic children children unsupervised exit doors that don't open like this seems like a hazard for everybody So we get to that climactic scene where? Chuckie has knocked out Kyle and th and th and th and th and th and the the th the th th th th the th the th the th the th th th the th th. the th. th. th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It's th. It's th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It's th. It's the th. It's the the the the the the the the th. It's th. It's the th. It's th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. thea. the. the thea. the. the. the. the. the. th. this seems like a hazard for everybody. So we get to that climactic scene where Chuckie has knocked out Kyle and put her on this conveyor belt and she's going to the chomping machine. Which chumps? The chopp, it makes chumps. And he's able to get her off of that and then kind of get Chuckie like, does this
Starting point is 00:24:00 where he melt Chucky with the hot latex gun? Well, several things happen first, I think. Okay. They close his hand under like a gate, a metal gate that falls down and seems also seems very dangerous. Right. And he rips it off and jams a knife into the stump. And the ripping hand fucking terrified me as a kid. Oh really?
Starting point is 00:24:26 Terrified me. It was great. As an adult I was like, oh look at that. And then there was a person, like one single person working in the factory alone. Do you remember this guy? The inventing people to kill a guy? Yeah. We need a body here. Chuckie kills him by getting him under the machine the the the the the the the?? th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the thi. I they. I they. I they. I the the the the guy. Yeah. We need a body here. Chuckie kills him by getting him under the machine that drops the eyes into the doll's head and just stunk. So cool. So thunks those eyes right into his head. Yeah. Loved it. Yeah. So Chucky murders the security guard loses his hand in one of his legs. Andy then I can't remember the exact chronology, but pours the hot wax or latex or whatever it was
Starting point is 00:25:06 all over him and melt him. And they're kind of like, woo, glad that's over until this amazing garbage pale kid looking thing comes up out of the ooze. And it's Chuck Edeen, he's like, ah, go, go. And that was my favorite shot in the movie like I thought the latex burnt Chuckie was fucking amazing like looks so cool I was really pumped on that. Then they strapped Chuckie to one of the doll sort of harnesses that holds it all while it goes through the factory and gets things done to it and they reverse this machine yeah it has a
Starting point is 00:25:41 reverse button which is labeled with a label maker right because just how you label your stuff and he goes into a chamber and all of these arms and legs just get shoved into him. Why would it have the ability to do that? I don't know. Wait, wasn't that before he got melted down? Because they, they stick the air hose. They stick the air hose. They stick the air hose. They're they stick the air hose. They stick the air. They stick the air hose. They stick the air hose. They stick the air hose. They stick the air hose. They stick the air hose. They stick the air hose. They stick the air hose. They stick the air hose. They blow the air hose. They stick the air hose. They blow the air hose. They the air. They the air. They the air hose the air hose. They the air. They the air. They they they they they they they they they they they they they the air the air the air the air the air the air the air hose the air hose the air hose the air hose the air hose the air hose the air the air the air the air the air the air the air the air the air the air the air. the air. They blow the air. They stick the air. They stick the air. They stick. They stick. They stick. They stick. They stick. the air. the air. the air. the air. the air. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. to him first, then the molten plastic, then the air hose. Man, my memory is a pile of fucking garbage. And you don't even use medicines like I do. No, I don't. I just, my memory is garbage, so forgive me everyone that is currently yelling at their, I assume you've pulled out your earbuzz and you're screaming into them right now. I think everybody's on the same page with us. The chronology of child's play too. So there's these air hoses, the hydraulic hoses that have gotten knocked off and they
Starting point is 00:26:28 take one of them and jamming into melted Chuckie's face, which he bites down on, which I thought was hilarious. Like why he closed it? Why you make it a seal, buddy? And then he just blows up his head explodes. Yeah. And it was great. It was a lot of fun. So, Katie, I loved this movie. Can we rate? We can rate. Ten? Love it. My first ten. I fucking love this movie. It's so delightful. It's everything I want. I think it's so good. Like I loved it. I loved it. It's funny. It's dark. It's like gory without being gross. Yeah, they did such a great job of like making like miniaturii. I. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It's. Starting point is 00:27:05 making like miniaturizing using his size yeah I just I thought it was perfect I thought it was perfect that that. I thi. I'm so into that being your ten child's play too. I hope you never have another ten. What could be better than this? I was honestly pissed that the Amazon rental is only 24 hours because I didn't get to watch it again. I'm like the t. I the the 10. Man, you have humbled me with this ten. I'm not sure where to go from here. You loved it though. I did. I really, I would give it a, uh, I'm gonna go eight and a half. I didn't think it was gonna be terrible. Because it seems to be pretty universally liked by people. I put something up on Instagram today about it.
Starting point is 00:27:53 And multiple people said this was either their favorite Chucky movie. Oh wow. Yeah, that's great. I love that guy. Yeah, that guy's gonna love your ten. Someone just really loves Chuckie giving that tiny finger. It's so funny. That image was amazing. It is amazing. I don't find dolls creepy at all. Have you ever seen the trilogy of terror? The Karen Black movie from the 70s, it was a TV movie. There's a Zuni fetish doll which is this little dude with a giant mouth. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. the. the. the. the. the. the's, the's, I, I, I, I, I's, I's, I's, I's, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I's, I I. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. That creeped me out a bit when I was a kid. Yeah. But yeah, like overall, and maybe the clown and poltergeist. Oh yeah. That would, but that's like, you're bringing a clown into it. Yeah, like it's a. Yeah, I don't find dolls creepy. But I thuk-I th th, I thu, I thu, I thu, I thu, I thu, I thu, I thu, I thu, thu, thu, thu, thu. thu. thu. I thu. I thu. Yeah, thi. Yeah, thi. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, tho. Yeah theory that I've been lambasted for that Freddie is a second-tier character,
Starting point is 00:28:48 a second-tier scary guy. You have also on this podcast referred to Chuckie as a second-tier scary guy. Yeah, he is. No, no, he's totally is. But he's on par with Freddie. Like they're right there to neck and neck. Because. Because they're never going to creep me out as much as Michael Myers or or no or Jason like that stuff or leather face like the non-talking Waste carrier to me, but like I don't know why he's doing this. I don't know what's going on like not knowing a backstory or anything. It's great. We don't know why
Starting point is 00:29:16 Charles Liray has these voodermibilities because we didn't watch child's play. No, we should do that. Yeah. I will do that definitely in my free top and if at some point we want to do this for the podcast as well. Like, now I kind of want to watch a box set. I want to watch all of them. Yeah. I want to see all of these ridiculous. Because if, you know, if they keep up being this. . little memory of it though so like this one really stuck with me when I had seen it. How old were you again when you saw it? Probably like 10 which is you you know fuck you bitch and probably why I don't remember that being written
Starting point is 00:29:50 there's because I had no idea what it meant. Yeah but Chuckie is actually modeled after the cabbage patch doll, which I loved growing up. I just desperately wanted a cabbage doll, you know? Right. So I do have that sort of like nostalgia for that. Oh, like Teddy Ruxman. Oh, like Teddy Ruxman too.
Starting point is 00:30:12 Yeah, I had a skippy scribbles, today. Skippy scurbys. Skiffy scruples. It was so shitty. It was supposed to like write, like I know Teddy Ruxman would read you, but Skippy Scribbles would write, but he would just like hold this pen and you go, ah, ha, ah, ah, ah, ah, ah, and he would get all fucked up and just literally just scribble on his paper and I'd be like, I know what I think Skippy Scribels is supposed to do. It was like the special needs to hear the truth. It was depressing. Well that sounds terrible. That's worse than getting a go-bot. I don't know what a go-bot is. Oh they're the knockoff transformer. There was one that would transform into a motorcycle. All you did would stick a wheel between his two front hands. It was fucking awful. Oh man. That's terrible. We should do an 80s toy podcast. Yeah. But yeah, I th. I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. Starting point is 00:31:06 how right in my like dumb wheelhouse this movie was. Like earlier when I said shitty, like I mean it mea, like I meant it in the most loving way possible.
