Werewolf Ambulance: A Horror Movie Comedy Podcast - Episode 296- Paranormal Activity 3 (2011)

Episode Date: August 31, 2020

Because we can never reliably be trusted to do things in a way that makes sense, this week we're tackling 2011's third installment in the "Paranormal Activity" franchise without having ever seen the s...econd. Special topics for your consideration include: having your home be haunted by a demon with perverted tendencies, a Bloody Mary epidemic, an extremely special visit from friend of the podcast Dan, a little behind-the-scenes of us watching the neighborhood and the return of deja-viewing. Starting point is 00:00:00 Alan, can I tell you something? What? I deja-vued this movie. I did not. I didn't realize it until like, I don't know, three-quarters of the way through. What? I deja-vued this movie. You did not.
Starting point is 00:00:15 I did, and I didn't realize it until like, I don't know, three-quarters of the way through. When you got spooked. I was like, why are they using the same house from the first movie? Yeah. And then like part of the like probably some way past the midway point I was like oh this wasn't the same house from the first movie you've just seen this movie before. The oscillating camera trick I was like that's so weird they did that in both. They didn't. It's not beyond beyond the realms the realms the realms the realms the realms the realms the realms the realms the realms the realms the realms the realms the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the same. th. th. th. th. thoes. thoes. thoes. thoes. thoes. thoes. the same. the same. the same. the same. the same. the same. the same. the same. the same. the same. the same. the same. the same. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. trick. I was like, that's so weird they did that in both. They didn't. Wait, it's not a, it's not beyond the realms of belief that you would think that since they do everything the same in this movie? Sure. That's hilarious though. It was when the little girl was standing in front of the bed for hours in the middle of the night. Because I remember when we did the first movie I tho- I th th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I thi, I the, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, thi, thi, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, the, the, the, the, the, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th doing this. So, I definitely, which also means that in my life,
Starting point is 00:01:05 my paranormal activity experience has gone. Paranormal activity three. Uh-huh. Paranormal activity three. Because I am certain I haven't seen the second. Or have I? The second is all about the sister. It's all about Christy.
Starting point is 00:01:22 Since Katie was the, I thought that we were going to get more the the to get to get to get to get to get to get the to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get the to get the to get the to get Since Katie was the, I thought we were going to get more Katie at this movie, but just a little taste of Katie. She's just like, remember me I was in the first movie? Because there's like this big deal made out of Christy being pregnant, and then in the next scene she's not pregnant anymore when the house is like trashing. Right. And then we never see them again. So from when I was reading the house trashing is from the second movie. Their house gets broken into and the only thing that gets stolen is this box of VHS tapes. And this VHS tape that we're watching in Paranormal Activity 3 is from that box. Okay. So who is playing the tape for us?
Starting point is 00:02:00 Christy's husband? Right? Uh, Dennis? You're talking about? No, I'm talking about the guy who's making the tape for the unborn child. Doesn't he just pop it into the VCR? Or I guess were they stolen before he watched them? Why would he watch them? Oh, wait, Dennis is Christy's married. They were just boyfriend-girlfriend. It could be a stepdad without being married.
Starting point is 00:02:25 As far as film stepdad's go, he's a pretty good one. I mean, we've all seen Amityville Horror, the remake, or whatever. Haven't we? He is nowhere near as ripped as a Brian Gosling? Ryan Reynolds. That's the one. Man, you leave Marveling and Marvel's Marvel and just forget that guy. See you later, Deadpool, Endor Green Lantern. Both. He's been two different superheroes, two different universe, it's DC and Marvel, you know. That doesn't seem
Starting point is 00:02:55 right. A lot of people have done it. Yeah. Who else? Name another? Uh, o'clock. to their thi. I've, as soon as they said that it it was, name, name, name, name, name, name, name, name, name, name, name, name, name, name, name, name, name, name, name, name, name, name, name, name, name, name. Name, name. Name th. Name. Name th. Name. Name. Name. Who th. Who th. Who, name. Who th. Who, name. Who thi. Who, name. Who th. Who, name. Who, name. Who, name. Who, name. Who, name. Who. Who. Who, name. Who. Who. Who, name. Who. Who. Who, name. Who. Who. Who. Who. Who. Who. Who. Who. Who. Who. Who. Who. Who. Who? Who? Who. Who? Who? Who? Who? Who. Who. Who? Who? Who. Who? Who, name? Who. Who, name? Who. Who? Who. Who. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to. the to. to. to. to. the the the to. the the the to. the the the the to. to. the to. to. to. the the I believe anything you said anyway. Yeah, as soon as I said that it was like, have they? Maybe they haven't. I don't know. I left that world. I do love that you assured me I was wrong. Katie, that's the dumbest thing I've ever heard. I was basically the internet.
Starting point is 00:03:22 No. And then just ghost and never ever a response. When I started trying to watch this movie, Hulu tried to show me the Republican National Convention? No, no. Fuck you. FULU. It's a different horror movie. Then it just cuts to a pregnant woman painting on a ladder. And I was like, don't paint and don't be on the ladder while you do it, pregnant woman. What would she do? What's she thinking? I don't know.
Starting point is 00:03:45 Oh, I love this blue. Well, let your dumb, dumb husband do it. Get off that ladder. It's a dangerous situation. He's like, hey, I show, get you a bigger ladder? And I was like, is that a joke? Get your pregnant wife off the ladder. thak, thak, thapapapapapapapapapap tha, tho, tho, tho, tho, you bozo? Oh my God. Oh man. Anyway, I love how like, one thing I really like about these movies is that
Starting point is 00:04:12 they're like, they get no-name actors so that you're like, who's this now? I don't know this person. Because if it was like Tom Cruise, you'd be like, what's Tom Cruise doing? Is he okay? Absolutely. But also when you get so no-name that they're like, I'm pretty sure th. th. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. they. their. their. thi. their. their. th. their. their. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. their. thi. th. th. th. th. th. their, their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. th. th. th. th. to. to. to. to. to. to. th. to. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. their you get so no name that they're like, I'm pretty sure when Katie walks to the room, she goes, hi camera, and it goes back to it. But you could do that because it's like your friend's shooting it, right? Yeah, right. That's the thing with, yeah, I guess untrained actors. Because a lot of these people couldn't possibly be actors. Oh, Randy? Randy? Fuckin' Randy? Oh, Randy. You mean, like a Bunko Thomas Middle Ditch? Thomas Fiddle Witch. There you go. You got it?
Starting point is 00:04:54 Yeah, to oblivion. To oblivion. So the bulk of this movie takes place in 1988. Yes. Now I really don't know who's playing the VHS for us, so that's a really good point. Maybe that's revealed in paranormal activity for the marked ones. Okay, okay. Or, uh, what, there's one called like, uh, Road to Nowhere.
Starting point is 00:05:17 Ooh, I love that talking intense. So many of these movies. Yes, so 1988. With Dennis, who is videotaping most of this, and he does not have a very steady hand, which is pretty bad because he's supposed to be a wedding videographer. It's true. He's terrible at this. It does not have good framing.
Starting point is 00:05:34 He does not have a steady hand. He does like breaking people's fans. He does not look like he's from 1998 or 1988 either. Absolutely no like when Randy shows up and he has that like maybe like tops 96 pushed forward haircut. Yeah. Mom has a beautiful shag. Yes. But if this was like you could be like oh this is 76 or now. Right. Those are the two options. Right. Not night. Like no. It just seemed like they had like like their friend's house and they got like a couple like a couple like I'm gonna put this in th th th th th th th this in th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th. I I th. I th. I th. I th. Like, like like like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like this this this this this th th th th th like th like, like, like, like th th th th th th th th th like, like, like th th th th like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th like, th. th. th. th. th. th. thi th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. tho. thi. thi. tho. tho. It just seemed like they had like their friend's house and they got like a couple like I'm gonna put this in
Starting point is 00:06:09 finger quotes in 1980s pieces of art. Yeah, just like sort of abstract shapes and pastel colors and just hung them up and they were like it's the 80s now. Yeah we're gonna have suburban home with an open floor plan and some pink art. Yeah, we're done. It's the 80s. But it's an extremely nice house. Oh, really is, yeah. Yeah. Which is interesting because we keep being told that Dennis is poor.
Starting point is 00:06:32 Yes, but apparently Julie has all the money. Is it family money? I don't know. Is it family money? I don't know. She never goes to work. Isn't that the problem we had with the first paranormal activity too is that they were super rich and nobody seemed to work? You can't just have a movie that does that.
Starting point is 00:06:50 And like 25? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So we've also got Christy and Katie, the two young girls living in the house with that, they're adorable. Adorable. Adorable, looks similar? Look like they might be sisters? Yes, because I think they dyed that little girl's hair black. I don't think that's her hair color. For sure. Yeah, that's not right. They do look like
Starting point is 00:07:17 they could be sisters though and they are both like very cute and very good I thought. Yeah. Particularly the older one. Some of the lines they were feeding her were just like, oh no. I did not like the fact that they have a room without a door on it. For some reason that really irked me. You know why it irks you is because it's deeply inconvenient to have your children be in a loft above what appeared to be your living room? Yeah, we're gonna watch the TV when they go to bed. I guess we all go to bed at 8.30 now. I guess so.
Starting point is 00:07:48 That's the worst place to stash your children. Yeah, it was like, this is a one bedroom house. Yeah, it's enormous though. Yeah, when I saw that loft room, I was like, see, I thi thin' they they they they thin, see I thin, see I thin, see I thin, see, see, see, thi thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, see, thi, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see I th, see I thi, see I thi, see I thi, see I thi, see I thi, see I thi, see I thi, see I thi, see I thi, see I thi, see I thi, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, see, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. theea. thi. thi. thea. thea. thi. thi. thi. thi, thea had this room in the first movie. It's the same house. How does that happen? It would be a perfect playroom for kids. Yeah, yeah. But letting them sleep up there? Open steps. Come on.
Starting point is 00:08:12 Yeah. Especially when they're so prone to getting up in the middle of the day. Yeah, those kids do I fucking love rollerbladers. I'm just take back the streets, you know what I mean? Here comes the last one, she was way behind. I love rollerbladers in the same way that I love dudes still rocking a top knot. Yeah? Where it's just like, fuck it. I'm doing this. I look good.
Starting point is 00:08:40 Yeah. I'm doing this and I'm going to keep doing it. I bet it's a great workout rollerblading. Oh yeah. Look at this young, young boy wearing a misfits shirt. Huh. Rup your heart out your navel. Do you think he likes the wear-wixtie shirt? Wear a waltz.
Starting point is 00:08:54 That kid was born in 2009. Oh my god, there's another rollerbladerader. shirt at Target same place I got my Miss Fitzs t-shirt. That kid was born in 2009. Oh my god, there's another rollerblader. This is so fun. Are you gonna leave all this in the episode? There's more! There's a gang! Also, the little boy in the Misfits shirt has three girls trailing behind him,
Starting point is 00:09:18 so I guess things are going well for him. Man, your neighborhood's cool. Oh, quickly, do you know that this movie was written by the director of Happy Duff Day? I did not. Yeah, okay. We like that guy. We do. I don't know that I like his writing in this movie. I mean, I guess it's honestly fine. Like, you have to have kids say spooky things, right? For sure. I'm a hundred percent sure that there is a, remember those templates that you that you that you that you that you that you th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th tho tho tho thoes tho thoes tho tho thi thi thi thi tho tho tho tho tho tho thi thi thi thi thi thi th is a, remember those templates that you would get in high school when you had to write a paper that would be like, objective and then blah blah and these movies have to be like, all right, you're going to need a family, you're going to need a house. There's going to be a demon.
Starting point is 00:09:57 Sure. And there's got to be a reason that this guy has a child to communicate between the worlds. Yep. We need a Carolan, because you know they call him a Carolean. Aw, little Caravan. Oh, man. These movies are always a rigging endorsement of how great of a little kid actor Carolan was. Oh, yeah. Yeah. On the note of having all those cameras, the guy tries to make a sex tapepe with with with with with with with with with with with the the tape with their tape with tape with tape with their tape the the the tape thi to make a sex tape with his girlfriend, which was just so awkward and uncomfortable that I actually really enjoyed it. I thought it was funny.
Starting point is 00:10:28 Yeah, especially since she's like, hey you better to hurry up to do this before I change my mind. And then it seemed like when they started making out, she was like, hmm, I've changed my mind. Yeah. And I was like, oh, don't make a sex tape and tape. And th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, and th, th, th, th, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, that, yeah, that, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, I th. Yeah, I th. Yeah, I th. I th. Yeah, I th. Yeah, I th. Yeah, I th. Yeah, th world it's probably not the worst thing no it's fine really hard to share yeah although train spotting that taught us that making the sex tape might not be the best ending to things fair I mean no one says it's advisable sure I can't think of anything that I'd rather what I'd rather not watch than a sex tapetape that I've made. Oh that you have made. No, no. Who wants to see themselves fucking? I don't know. A lot of people apparently. Yeah that's weird. I never really... Hmm. It's cool. Do your thing. Not gonna be yuck anybody else have it
Starting point is 00:11:18 ever I guess. So they're gonna... and while they're making this boring-ass sex tape, an earthquake happens. And the first good spookery. Yes. They got me. It's a little spooky times. The ghost dust? Yes, the ghost dust. Yeah, so there's dust falling from the ceiling, and it sort of all stops and everything gets calm. And then it forms into a ghost kind of? It's like landed on a shoulder. Yeah. And then it moves. Yeah. Occurs to me that this
Starting point is 00:11:51 movie is very similar to next week's movie by the way. Very similar. I was like, oh I'm spooked. That ghost is a fucking pervert. Yeah, that ghost was just watching them, fuck. I wish it landed on his hard penis. Oh my god. I was like it was two shoulders the shoulder shoulder shoulder shoulder shoulder the shoulder shoulder the shoulder the shoulder the shoulder the shoulder the shoulder the shoulder the shoulder the shoulder the shoulder the shoulder the shoulder th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I'm s shoulder. I'm s shoulder. I'm s shoulder. I'm s shoulder. I'm th. I'm th. I th. I'm s shoulder. I'm like like like like th. I's on sh sho. I's on sho. I'm on sho. I'm on th. I'm on th. I's on th. I's on th. I's on th. I's on th. I's on th. I's on th. I's on th. I's on th. I's on. I's. I's. I's like. I's like. I's like. I's like. I's like. I's like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like. I'm like, the. I'm like, the. I'm. I'm. I'm. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. th. the. th. th ghost was just watching them fuck. I wish it landed on his hard penis. Oh my god what if it was two shoulders top of the head top of the nose? Top of a swan top of a diving board. That's hilarious. It's so funny. Yeah fucking Toby. Come on. Put it away to jerk it right here in front of them. Just because they can't see you doesn't mean it's not happening. Or if the dust fell off with like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like a like a like a like a like a like a like a like a the the the the the the the the the to to to the to to to the the to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the the to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their to their to to to t. t. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. their their in front of them. Just because they can't see you doesn't mean it's not happening. Or if the dust fell off with like a wrist motion and then the dust... Toby! Toby! Toby!
Starting point is 00:12:33 Toby, the mischievous masturbating demon. But he's a tall old man who masturbates in your house. And don't call him fat. No, he doesn't like that. So he's a tall fat old man who jerks off in your bedroom. That's actually terrifying. Yeah, he's old like grandma. That's so funny. I'm sorry. Yeah, it's, oh man, holy grandma. I like Grandma Lois though. Oh, she's great. She's so mean. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:13:11 Such a bitch. And I feel like when we meet Grandma Lois, I was like, oh, Oh, yeah. What's up? Grandma Lois? Yeah. I'll wait for later for you. Are you going to yell Hale Paymont? Is that what's going to have a Grandma Lotus?
Starting point is 00:13:25 You smelled it on Grandma Lotus. Oh, yeah. Is it because she was so terse? She was so terse and like almost makeupless. So she just had this like, eh. You were like, that's a witch. Yeah. It went old in this movie?
Starting point is 00:13:39 Oh, she a witch. Yeah. I do like, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thus, tho, tho, tho, tho, thus, thus, thus, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. the. thi. thea. to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, thithat the children have that I do like. There's one where Dennis is asking Christy all these questions about Toby and she goes, why don't you ask him yourself, he's standing right next to you. Oh, so creepy. So good. Yeah. Oh, man.
Starting point is 00:14:01 You know one thing I like that happens in this movie? What? That little girl losing her tooth. Oh, you like that. I I I I I I I I I I I I that. I that. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. tho. tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho the the the their their their their their their their their their th. Oh. Oh. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, tha. Oh, tha. Oh, the. Oh, the. Oh, the. Oh, thea. Sooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo? That little girl losing her tooth. Oh you like that. I'd love it when a tooth gets all wiggly and you could play with it. Oh yeah. It's one of the things that's so exciting when you're a child but if it happens to use adult you're like oh my god help me. There's that thing where every once in a while when you're once in a while tho th you you you you you th th th th th th th th th th th th th the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets the the the the the the the the the gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets gets tho th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th the the the the the the the the the the gets the gets the gets the gets to the to to to to to to to to to to to to to the to to to the the the the the gets gets gets the gets the like that split second where I'm like did I just loosen the tooth? No, no. Oh no. But when you're a kid is the best feeling it's like oh this is weird this is my body what's happening right now? And it's like something for you to do for the next like 24 to 48 hours is just move it back and forth with your tongue. And when they're like don't tou-and to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their touguefe. tougueguefe weckeckeckeckeckleauueckeckleaukkkkkkneckleau. theau. thea' their their the teeth falling out phase of parenthood. I'm definitely going to reach into my kid's mouth and pluck one out, you know. Oh yeah. Like a frontier dentist.
Starting point is 00:14:51 Yeah. Just feel like it would be so satisfying to feel that pop again. It's like popping a very big pimple. Oh, did you feel, uh, how did you feel about having this fake-ass skippy scribbles in this movie? You mean Theodore Ruxman? I laughed a lot of Teddy Ruxman actually. I was like, these bitches get a Teddy Ruxpin, why don't I? So we see Christy creeping around in the night playing with someone.
Starting point is 00:15:20 Right. That we can't see and having a conversation about Dennis when we first see it. What was it about Dennis? Yeah, she's like, no, he's fine, he's really nice. Oh, okay, yeah, yeah, yeah. Oh, and they have a little door in the bedroom. Yeah. Which is in the first movie for sure, there's a little door in that too. Is there?
Starting point is 00:15:37 Yeah. Because remember we had a big doom. little doors. And there's a little door in the attic. That's why I remember talking about it because we were okay. Can you say so? Little doors? Yes, they have a little door that opens into like a crawl space. Yeah. Which Toby lives in I guess? Yeah, I guess. But he also just sort of slurfs just around the house like looking at stuff jerking it. Just like playing with the toys. Moving shares around. Toby, put it back when you're done with it. Like, you're not paying rent. He sucks.
Starting point is 00:16:13 Yeah, such a dick. So after Dennis sees the ghost boater with the dust on it, he sets up cameras throughout the house. And we get nights of little things happening. Yeah. I mean, it is the exact same fucking movie. It is.
Starting point is 00:16:29 And it does the same thing that the first movie does too where it's like, where it's like, there's a lot of tension building with no payoff. So that when something does pay off, it's supposed owing a line between being like tension filled and exciting and tension filled and agonizing. For sure. Where you're just like, come on, like give it up, make something happen. There were some jump scares that got me. Oh sure. Like Julie and the mask coming out of the closet.
Starting point is 00:17:00 That was great. That was one where I thought it was a really good payoff because you were thinking it wasn't going to be a payoff. For sure. Yeah. And that mask was so good. I don't know. Where did you that? I don't know. How did you feel about the little girls camping in the backyard? I don't know that I would leave my small children alone in a backyard? Maybe if I lived in the suburbs, I guess. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, for sure. Didn't when we were kids. Really? Were you that little? At some point. I mean in your life, back in the 60s. Nope. My game held six months, too.
Starting point is 00:17:32 Poor mom. Oh, good God. But I did like all the stuff of like, so the cameras are running all through the night and we just see like random snippets at like four o'clock in the morning of like lights going on yeah and back off or when Christy would run by their room right that she was creepy that yeah running and giggling like she's chasing someone or being chased by someone in a game like yeah yeah yeah but I feel like this movie and all these
Starting point is 00:17:59 found footage movies kind of this movie was paying homage or ripping off to like it's very like I feel like Blur Witch with like the little giggling kids and Poltergeist right down to the scene where mom and dad get high. Right, right, you're totally right about that. Yeah. And it was like a little too, okay, okay, okay, all right. I see what you're doing here. Yeah. Yeah. But you're right. that. that. th, th, th, th, th, th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th. I th. I th. I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel th, I feel th the the the th. I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel, I feel th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the thi thi. thi. was like a little too, it was like okay, okay, okay, all right, I see what you're doing here. Yeah. But you're right that some of the scares are really good. Like I really liked when the babysitter is sitting at the table and the person is behind her with the like ghost she-on. And then all of a sudden it just falls and there's nothing there. I thought that was so good. But it's that it's also that it's also that that that that it's also that that that that that that that that that that that that that that th that that th th that th th th tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the thi the thi that. the the the the the the the the the the the the. the the. the ss. thea. thea. thea. the. the. the. the. the I thought that was so good. But it's also on the oscillating camera thing, so it's like taking for fucking ever. Which I don't know if it's just like my shortened attention span or what, but it's it was taking and I
Starting point is 00:18:53 understand they're building tension, but it's like come on. Yeah. Get there. I feel like that would have been just as effective if you did it on the first sweep through. Yeah. But like yeah, like that that that that that that that that that that that that that would that that would that would that would that would that would that would that that would that would that would that would that would that would, I I that would, I that would, I that would, I that would, I that would, that would that would that would that would that would that would that would that would that would, that would, that would, that would, that would, that would, that would that would be, that would be, that would be, that would be, that would be. that would that would that would that would that would that would, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha sweep through. Yeah, it didn't you didn't need to. Yeah, but yeah I think that stuff it was great like it was really creepy. I expected the babysitter to get locked in a closet a la Amityville horror that did not happen. No but Katie does later. She does. Also did you like that Lisa was the only character that they were like oh shit we have an 80s wardrobe for you? Like she came in I was like, what the fuck is this? Seriously, what the fuck is this? Ruffles skirt, maybe a fanny pack. Off the shoulder top, sweater, and like a side pony. She is like, she looks like, she looks like, what was Barbie's little sister? Skipper. Skipper, teen skipper. Yeah, she was not as cosmopolitan as Jim. No, Jim is a truly outrageous. Truly outrageous. Gotta watch the fuck out of that cartoon. I bet you did. Also, she fucking
Starting point is 00:19:54 Dennis? I mean, she was being very cutesy on those cameras. Hey Dennis. Hi Dennis. Hi Dennis. Yeah, she's probably fucking Dennis. Maybe she's making sex tapes with Dennis. Though I don't know when he would have the time because he's literally spending 12 hours watching 12 hours of footage. Can't fast forward through that Dennis? No. And then he recruits Randy is friend, his employee? What is a employee? I think it's his number two in the wedding, making business? I see. They're not making weddings. They're wedding clanners. They're wedding, that would be adorable.
Starting point is 00:20:28 Oh man, I really hated Randy. I don't know why. I just turned on Randy real fast when he showed up. I was like, oh, you lanky, motherfucker. What's up, Randy? Just too like two out of place in 1988. Yeah. Two, like, he just shows up and he's like, oh yeah, I got those demonology books you were asking about. Yeah, right. He stole them from the library.
Starting point is 00:20:52 He stole them from, Randy, get a fucking library card. That's what Dennis said. He said, why, or did I said that? I said it. Then said it, and you said it, and I said, and I, and I, and I, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, things that were spooky that I liked. I like the random lamps swinging. Yes that's a really nice touch. Yeah for sure. But there's also a scene where like the more Julie is downstairs eating something in the middle of the night. Sure. And then like one of them crashes but it doesn't break. Right. Whoa. Why didn't you just break it? Did Toby catch it at the last second?
Starting point is 00:21:25 Yeah, but then what was the sound of the glass breaking? Shhh. I don't know. I don't know. Also, what was she eating that she got halfway through and dumped the rest of it into the garbage disposal and then stuck her fucking arm in the fridge take care of it in the morning. Or just eat it, Julie. You got out of bed for this? Like maybe it's my own problems that I cannot like not clean a plate. Just finish off that Ambrosia salad and go back to bed Julie. Imagine waking up at the two o'clock in the morning and just eating forkfuls of ambrosia salad? I find this very unbelievable because I get hungry a lot at night too, but I am way too lazy to get out of bed and walk down a flight of stairs and then know I have to walk back up them.
Starting point is 00:22:14 You know what I mean? Just drag a pillow and a blanket behind you? What if I was just laying on my kitchen floor like eating black olives out of a can? t to to to to to to to to to too.... to to to the to to the to the to the to to the to to to to to the to to to to to to too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too too. I to to to to to to to to to thi to thi thi thi to to to to to thi to to to to to to to too too too too too can. It's the saddest thing I've ever heard. Notting off between plates. Waking up and having a half chewed olive in your mouth and you're like what, eh? What is this? Twine really bad acne? No, it's olives so I've got olives all over my face. I'll sleep with the olive can again. Just scraping black shit off your tongue that you've been like lightly digesting all night. But there is also a ghost by the front door in that scene that I thought was pretty scary. I don't know if I noticed that. Yeah it does a Hell Hells LLC thing which I call
Starting point is 00:22:56 that mechanic forever now. Sure, sure. Like just lightly being in the back and not being there. Oh shit I thi the th. th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. thi is is the the thi is thi is the thi is the the thi is the th. th. th. th. thi is thi is thi's the. th. th. th. th. th. thoes the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. I's is also thea. But the. But there the next time. Oh shit, I did not notice that. That's awesome. Oh wait, maybe that was with Lisa. I think that might have been with Lisa. Either way. It doesn't matter. I did not notice any background. I feel like it's a thing they should utilize more in these movies. Yeah right, because you're always looking at the background trying We don't have time to, we don't have money, we'll get background guy number six in here. You do, though. You do. Get the craft services guy and just put him in a jumpsuit, you know? This movie sort of culminates, I think, with Randy playing Bloody Mary with a small child. Yeah. You could just say no. You're in charge of that child's well being. Yeah, I realize he's like not a top-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-to-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-s-a-s-s. their-s. their-s. their-s. their-s. their-s. thi-s. their-s. th-a-s. th-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-s. their-s. their-s. Get their their-s. Get their-s. Get their-s. Get their-s. their-s. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeahthem and he was there in a pinch. Right, because they have to run to the hospital because Christy is burning up. Yeah. She's got a fever. So they leave Katie behind for some reason? You don't want your other kid sitting in a
Starting point is 00:23:54 in an emergency room all day. But do you want him sitting with Randy? I don't know. Randy seems like a friend thi? th. th. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi to to to thi to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to toe. to toe. to to to to to to to thi. thi. thi. thi thi the family, I guess. But after this, I'm going to say, no, no, no, I would not leave my child with Randy. Because he's the one who told her about Bloody Mary in the first place. He did. And then he's like, why, why, why do you know about, lo? I don't know what you're talking about? Fuck off Randy. So you're coming around on Randy. Well, I do think it's just a bad move. It is. She's very small. She is like seven, eight. For sure. Yeah. This scene must have been arduous for you because it is
Starting point is 00:24:32 the longest, longest buildup. It is a very long buildup. Yeah. For so much so that they do Bloody Mary the first time and Randy clicks on the light after 30 seconds. A long time, what felt like a long time to me. And Katie's like, no, you have to do it for longer. And so it's a very good snotty child voice, by the way. And he's like, okay. You could just say no. Say no, let's go eat fucking Doritos and hang out. Yeah, let's watch MTV.
Starting point is 00:25:02 Was it out yet? It was. For sure. Let's go see what Martha Quinn is talking about on MTV in 1988. So then they're like, all right, so shut it off and all you get is this one little red light of the video camera for some reason he's videotaping this. This is another thing that drives me nuts about these movies. Yeah, and it's just it's forever and you're like, all. What's gonna. th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, t. Yeah, t. t. t. t. t. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. tha. tha. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta're like, all right, what's going to happen? What's going to happen? What's going to happen? Yeah, it takes for ever. And what happens is he yells, because he gets a scratch up his side. So Toby just scratched him with a claw? Toby has claws now. So Toby's a tall, fat, old man with claws, and he's jerking it in your bedroom.
Starting point is 00:25:46 Terrible, terrible, terrible, terrible. Zero fun, Toby. Zero fun. And then when they try to escape, Toby like kicks the little kid table and knock stuff over? I thought that was scary. I really enjoyed that because they're locked in the bathroom at this point. And Katie is just crying and crying and crying. Right. And I was like, Randy, put the camera down and hug that child.
Starting point is 00:26:10 Sure. Pick her up and run for the stairs. You don't even have to open a door because they don't have one. Just pick her up and run for the stairs. How would you not? I don't know? He doesn't. He doesn't. He keeps filming. He the the th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. And the. And the. And, the. And, the. And, the. And, the. And, the. And, the. And, the. And, the. And, the. And, filming and keeps them both in the bathroom where they are locked up. And then eventually goes out and cleans up and takes her downstairs. He like leaves her alone while he cleans up and I thought, how are you, how is this happening? You're a bad dude. Yeah. And also how is she allowing this to happen? Yeah. There was a Bloody Mary epidemic at my elementary school. What does that mean? That the tale of Bloody Mary traveled across the fourth grade amongst the girls. And the rumor was that she lived in the woods behind the school. Because during recess you weren't allowed to go in the woods behind the soccer field.
Starting point is 00:26:59 Which is probably because of ticks. Sure. And liability, but we were convinced that it was because Bloody Mary lived in those woods. So every time there was a bathroom break somebody would be trying to do Bloody Mary in the bathroom. There'd always be like girls in the stalls who did not want to participate in Bloody Mary so when a letter had to go home to all our parents about not playing bloody Mary. She never showed up though did she? Can you imagine if you're just like, I gotta take a, gotta take a whiz, gotta run in this bathroom real quick? These dumb-dums are playing Bloody Mary.
Starting point is 00:27:31 Turning off the lights? Yeah. Pulling each other's hair, too. Oh, man. Yeah. It does sound like an epidemic. Yeah. We had another case of bloody Mary. Someone's got to do something. My next note says, oh
Starting point is 00:27:46 please don't let it be witches, which I don't remember how we found out it was witches. Oh he finds that photograph of the women with all of the symbols on their necklaces. Yeah. Where was the symbol? Oh, there's the symbol like someone had scratched it into, in crayon inside a little cubby. Oh right, right. With the little doorels. And, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, which, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the the, the the the the the wit the wit the wit the wit the wit the wit the wit the wit the wit the wit the w witches, the w witches, the w witches, the w witches, the w witches, the w witches, the w the w the w- the w- the w- the w- the w- the w- the wit it the wit the wit the wit the wit the wit their the wit-the-the-the-citch it their their wi-citches, their their wi-citches, their wi-witches, their their wi-witches, their their their witches, the's the symbol like someone had scratched it into in crayon inside a little cubby. Oh, right, right, right. It's a little door-house. And fucking dumb, dumb, Dennis is like, that's the same symbol. And then when all hell's breaking loose in the house, I really enjoy it. Like when Katie gets drug across the floor and all that stuff, the light bright,
Starting point is 00:28:21 lights up and it has a triangle circle symbol on it and I was like that's dope. Toby spent some time making arts and crafts to make this spookier. Toby found the Ziplock bag full of the light bright pegs and was like I got this. I got a half hour. Let's see what I can do. So Toby is a tall fat old man with claws a boner. doing light bright. A bitching masturbation problem. Playing with your light bright and jerking it with his clawed hand. That's a lot. That's a lot for Toby. He must be exhausted.
Starting point is 00:28:58 He's slicing his ghost stick up. He's not too exhausted to pick young Katie up by her hair though, which I thought was brutal and good. These movies do that unseen thing, dragging, picking up, throwing really well. Yeah. Like how they do that well? Like, how do they? I don't know. How do you pick a young girl up by her hair?
Starting point is 00:29:18 I don't know. I hope they didn't. I hope they didn't. genuinely. Meanwhile Dennis and Julie's relationship is deteriorating because he did the I'll give some relationship advice to the podcast listeners right now. Tell your partner. Yeah. Let them know what's going on. Yeah. Let them decide if they're too scared. Well he didn't want her to shut down the camera project which would mean he could never find out what it was and he seemed very invested in finding out what it was. Not to be in defensive Dennis, but...
Starting point is 00:29:49 Sure, sure, but like you're in a relationship, a partnership, talk about. Forget what's going on. Yeah, I like can't not tell Rob what I ate for lunch. Because I just have to say every thought that pops into my head. I'm definitely going to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the th. th. thi thi thi thi the thi thi thi thi thi thi the the the the thi their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the. I the. I don't want the. I woomean. I don't thean. Iean. Ifeanananan. Ifendenden. Ifeanan. Ienden. Ifean. Iean. I'm not thean. I'm have to say every thought that pops into my head. I'm definitely going to tell my partner that Randy got scratched. Hey Dan. Oh. How's it going? Guys we have a visitor on the podcast. What is happening right now? There's an ice cream delivery happening. Oh my God. Oh my god! Thank you Dan! Did you know we were
Starting point is 00:30:31 doing this? How did you know? Are you not speaking? Bye! Bye! Thank you! How did that happen? How did that happen? He texted me yesterday? Oh! Oh! Thank you! Oh! How did that? How did that happen? How did that happen? He texted me yesterday to find out if we were recording. That is the nicest, sweetest thing. Thank you, Dan. I'm in shock. I feel like we just got, a ghost came up to their ice cream. You were definitely in shock when he was walking up to, what's it's going on?
Starting point is 00:31:02 I was like, why is your neighbors coming over here? We're gonna have to fucking fight him. Katie, I gotta, I know him, it's Dan. I gotta paw down for a second, run that ice cream into the freezer. What's the opposite of being rudely interrupted? Um, being kindly interrupted? You're like gloriously interrupted? Dan from the live show, he did the sound and everything and a visual stuff for us there. He makes amazing ice cream.
Starting point is 00:31:26 He's a goddamn saint. What a fucking hero. He never watches any of these movies either, but he listens to the show. Bless his heart, Dan. You're a hero. Not all heroes wear capes. No, but they do play ice cream sounds. When they come up to your front porch. I'm so glad that he gets to experience this later.
Starting point is 00:31:47 Yeah. He just dropped it and ran. He didn't say a word. That's a bit of bummer. Dan. Luckily, we- Is that cicada in my hair? What is happening right now?
Starting point is 00:31:58 The bugs are so loud right now. You know, I never noticed the sound of cicadas until we started doing like recording outside. And now I'm like, please leave me alone. I guess you wouldn't have a ton firehouse because there's not a ton of trees. No, there's not a ton of trees, but there is a spot that I like to sit next to the river whenever I finish a run. I'll just sit there like fuck this and went home. Oh yeah it's like being at a show when a band starts playing and you're like oh god I have to leave. I just came to hang out with my friends. Are you just marking the cicadas now? Please to give it a rest. They were so loud yesterday when I was driving that I thought my
Starting point is 00:32:37 fan belt was going. Oh no! So so how this basically takes a turn is nobody believes Katie. Her mother doesn't believe her, which is insane. And if I'm Katie I'm just going to say, why don't you watch the tapes? Why don't you watch the tapes? Yeah, she doesn't. Yeah, she doesn't. Which is again why Dennis should have been like, hey, watch the tape. Yeah, she doesn't. because I know exactly where it all is because I'm fascinated with this. For sure. Watching the ghost tricket. So it really like comes to a head for her when she's downstairs eating.
Starting point is 00:33:09 And she hears something and she goes into the other room and then when she walks back into the kitchen everything is gone. All the furniture is gone, the magnets off the fridge are gone. I thought this was very good. And it takes you, it's, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, the, the, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thinks, thinks, thinks, thinks, thinks, thinks, thinks, the, thea, thea, thea, thea, thinks, thinks, thinks, thinks, thinks, th up and they don't have eyebrows, and you're like, what the fuck is wrong with that person? Yeah, something is different. I was like, oh, weird, what? No, there was stuff on the, and then everything falls right before you figure, or right before I figured out what was going on. The timing was perfect.
Starting point is 00:33:34 Yeah. You're right, you're right. and everything comes crashing to the floor. And that is excellent. That's a jump scare done perfectly. Excellent spookery. Yeah. So they go to Lois' house. Right, because they're all just like, no, we got to go. Yeah. There's like a scene of them driving,
Starting point is 00:33:55 and the like children are sleeping in the car. And it's like, long of a drive is it? It was just two hours. Yeah, like Dennis grew a full beard. Yeah, they're like all sweaty and exhausted. Like they were running in the car, Fred Flynnstone style. Anyway, so Grandma Lois lives in an extremely cool house. Yeah, yeah. It just keeps going and going and going. That weird like external walkway with like the latticework on
Starting point is 00:34:29 the wrong. I was like, oh are you growing grapes? What's going on your grandma looas? No, that house was rooms on rooms on rooms. Yeah. I like that they kept focusing on these paintings that were on the wall that I think we're supposed to be like, ooh, it's spooky. And I was like, it's just pretty cool art. Yeah. It's not like a rosemary's baby when they reveal the paintings of like, cities burning and like all this shit. It's like, it's like a flower or a skull maybe? Who knows? But behind them is the symbol is not great. The symbol is not great. The symbol is not great. The symbol is not great. The symbol is not great. The symbol is the symbol is not the symbol is not great. I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the symbol is the symbol is the symbol is the symbol is the symbol is the symbol is not great. I'm going to come up with something a little bit better. It's the symbol for that coven's not great, and then like the kind of shittily drawn, baffimette, satanic, like, thing, that was just like, come on, don't bring Satan into this. I put a little effort into your drawing.
Starting point is 00:35:16 I mean, kudos to hereditary for at least being like, hey, hey, he heard about this payman motherfucker? Yeah, got him going on. Yeah. Yeah, this is unclear too. It's just like what are what maybe this is revealed in paranormal activity for the market ones, which I'm actually gonna call the market ones. That's okay with you. I love it. Yeah, this felt like it could have been like a coexist sticker on the back of somebody's car like collection of like evil occult things. That's cool. That's cool. I wonder that's like. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. this. this. this. this this this this this this this this thi this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this this. this this this this this this this this this this this this this th this th th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. theee. the. the. the. the. the. thi. the. thi. this this this that. Oh, I'm 100% I guarantee that. Yeah, you're right. I've seen one made out of automatic weapons. Ew. Wow.
Starting point is 00:35:52 So yeah. Fucking how. Yeah. We just cannot have nice things. No, it turns out we live in a nightmare hellscape. Of fun. So Grandma Lois and her friends are just hanging out in the middle of the night, basically? Yeah. Because Julie gets up to look for the girls.
Starting point is 00:36:12 She's woken up because they hear a car starting and stopping outside and like doors shutting. Right. Yeah, and she wakes up to look for the girls. Who, we never see, well, we don't see her again until she is floating. Being murdered by her mother? Yeah. Why though? I think that is revealed in the later movies. Okay. But there's something, because Dennis is reading about it and there's something about like demons taking over women when they become of like birthing age or something. And I was like, oh he does say that. But she's already got multiple children. So she's well past birthing age because they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they're, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, th, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. Yeah, th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi., oh he does say that. But she's already got multiple children so she's well past birthing age because they're like eight and six or
Starting point is 00:36:48 whatever. And wait a they're taking the girls? Because that's just not a birthing age. But yeah so she and I like this thing of like her being gone for a long time because like there's a thing even like when you wake up in the middle the night and your partner's like the like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like like. the the the they. they. they. they. they. they. their. their their their their their they. they. they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they's like, they's like, they's like, they's like, they's like, they's like, they's like, they's like, they's. they's. they's. they's. they's. they's. they's. they's. they's. they's. they're they're they're they're they. And they're they. And they. And they. they. they're like like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, they're like, there's a thing even like when you wake up in the middle of the night and your partner's like gone to take a pee or whatever, and then like you fall asleep and you're not sure how long you've been out and they're still gone but it's only been like a minute that you fell asleep so it's that weird thing of like, where, where, where the fuck did she go? Right. And then he gets up to look and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls and the girls. so he runs outside. Finds Grandma Lois and her friends. All just wearing black hanging out outside. Being old. Being old, chasing him slowly,
Starting point is 00:37:28 having arthritis from their gardening. And he's got like a flashlight, everything's lit by flashlight at this point. Oh, and he's filming, because of course he is. Of course he is. Yeah, can't stop, won't stop. Yeah, can't stop, won't stop. We're gonna move it. I mean, just what? What?
Starting point is 00:37:48 He eventually finds Julie hanging basically in midair, suspended in midair, feet off the ground. Yeah, which is good. It's really good. And then she kind of gets flung at him down the and they're hiding together. Yes. No one asks where Katie is. No, no. Seems like something you should probably look into. Most definitely.
Starting point is 00:38:10 Yeah. And he is hiding with Christy and sees Katie like crouched at the bottom of the steps. Yes. Oh, this must be after mom died. Yeah, I think mom dies getting thrown, hanging and then being thrown down the stairs. She's dead at the bottom of the stairs. She's crumpled up. And it looks like Katie is just like crying over her dead mother, which is a very heartbreaking scene. For sure. Until it isn't. Because she's a little demon. She's a little demon. It is incredibly silly. It is incredibly. It is incredibly silly. It is incredibly silly. It is thi. It is incredibly. It is incredibly. It is incredibly. It is incredibly. It is incredibly. It is incredibly. It is incredibly. It is incredibly. It is incredibly. It is incredibly. It is incredibly. It is incredibly. It is incredibly. It is incredibly. It is incredibly. It is incredibly. It is incredibly. It is incredibly. It is incredibly. It is incredibly. It is incredibly. It is incredibly. It is incredibly. It is incredibly. It is incredibly. It is incredibly. It is. It is. It is.ly bear. She's just growling. And then she's like snaps Dennis in half backwards, which I liked a lot.
Starting point is 00:38:47 For sure. And then I thought, poor Dennis. Yeah. Why don't you like Dennis? I liked Dennis. I thought he was fine. There's something about Dennis. Was it his under employment? Was he was just being a bitch to her daughter? Because you and Lois are on the same, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, to, to, to, to, to, thi, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, and I to, to, poor, poor, poor, poor, poor, poor, poor, poor, poor, poor, poor, poor, poor, poor, poor, poor, poor, poor, poor, th, th, th. th, th. th, th... th. What did Lois care whether or not Dennis had a job she knew she was going to kill him
Starting point is 00:39:06 at some point? She was just being a bitch to her daughter who she was also going to kill. I mean, I guess... Maybe Lois is who I should be mad at. Yeah, I mean, that's a good start. I'm guessing she killed the two of them just to have unfettered access to the children to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise to raise the to raise to raise to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to dick. There was a part of me watching this that go, Did hereditary lift some shit from this movie? One hundo did.
Starting point is 00:39:30 Yeah. One hundo did. Which is so funny that like, the art-house saving horror movie like lives from like what people consider to be like straight-up trash horror movies, which is funny. High art and low art. The difference difference difference difference difference difference difference difference difference difference difference difference difference difference difference. The difference. that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that's that's that was that that that that th. that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that. Yeah, the difference is small, you know. Oh, yeah. So that's paranormal activity or pair of normal active titties. Three.
Starting point is 00:39:55 Is that three pair or just? It's a, you know, like a total recall reference where that one lady has three boobs? Why does she have three boobs? I've never seen that movie. Oh, okay. Yeah, she's like genetically made to have a third boob. to to to to to to to to to to to to the their their th, th, th, th, you th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thish thrash, you thish thrash the the difference, you thrash, you the difference, you the difference the difference, you know, you know, you're the difference, you're the difference, you the difference, you the difference, you the difference, you the difference, you the difference, you the difference, their their their their their their their their thi th th th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thrash thrash thrash, thrash, thrash, thrash, thrash, thrash, thrash, thrash, thrash, thrash, thrash, thrash, thrash, that one lady has three boobs. Why does she have three boobs? I never seen that movie. Oh, okay. Yeah, she's like genetically made to have a third boob to make her even hotter. Because you don't, I don't know, you only have two hands we can do with that third boob. I'm just thinking how nothing in the world would work for you. No way, those sports bras that's tha's thoos tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho're going to have to get a special bra. No way, those sports braws that give you unibubaboo anyway. But like a seatbelt, where are you going to put it? Like you have a child, it's going to be not going to be able to pump. Messenger bags are out of the question. Out of the question. Any cross-body yeah, for sure. Just like clothes are going to look stupid on you. That's a the their. their. their. their. their. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi, tho, their thoom, thi, thi, thoom, thoom, where are thoom, where are tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the, where the. the. the. the. thea. thea. thea. the theaaaaa. to the theaauuuuuuuuuu. thea. thea. thea. thea. you. That sucks. If I've said anything in my life that third boob is impractical. If you have said anything, that is the thing I've heard you say two things actually. That that third boob is
Starting point is 00:40:53 impractical and you'll be living in a hole if I don't get me gold. Those are the things I know about you. I can see why people listen this podcast. Good. Katie. Alan. Do you want to rate Paranormal Activity 3? I would like that. This movie is deeply inoffensive.
Starting point is 00:41:17 For sure. It is, the thing I think that is most wrong with it is that it's a remake of its predecessor. Sure. And that it takes too long to get to it's a remake of its predecessor. Sure. And that it it takes too long to get to the point at times. But it's you know there's good jump scares. It's like so middle of the road. For sure. It's like a five and a half I'm going to say. Okay. Yeah. I like enjoyed it. I didn't dislike it but I also got three-quarters of the way through before I realized I that I that I that I th th th I th I that I that I that I that I that I th th that I that I th th th th that I that I th is th is th is th is th is like thi thi thi that I thi thi that's like thi thi thi thi thi th like like like th like th like th like th is like th is like th. It is th. It is thi thi thi thi thi thi thi the the like thee like thee like thi theeee like thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi th of the way through before I realized I'd seen it before. So it's really unmemorable. Inoffensive, yeah. Yeah, for sure.
Starting point is 00:41:47 You? I shocked myself by finding out that I enjoy paranormal activity movies. So yeah, you liked the first one too, which surprised you. I really did. Yeah, so maybe you're a paranormal activity kind of guy, which is funny because you hate ghosts. I do. But I don't mind ghost stories. And this is, this one is even a ghost is it? No, she's a jerk and demon. Yeah. Toby. Toby the wanking demon. But yeah, this is, it's totally inoffensive. I think they just, they must just have like a, because there's like six of these movies. Yeah, at least six. And they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they th. And th. And th. And th, and th, and th, th, th, th. And th. Yeah, at least six. And they must just have this assembly line of like, okay, this is what we do, this is, this is, okay, this is, okay, this is, okay, this is.
Starting point is 00:42:30 And it's like a fucking like, in a little breakdown here. And it's like a fucking, like, thrown, bridge, a little breakdown here? Yeah, everyone's singing right now, this is great. I bet they're all jumping in unison on stage, too. Chain Wallets, smacking their guitars. Oh, I love it. But it's just like, it's so like, I don't know, if it was just the mood I was in, but I was feeling this movie. I really about you. I think I respect about you.
Starting point is 00:43:06 Oh. You see, you're not afraid to get rid of your credibility. I assume I don't have any. Always a good jumping off point. I doubt that anyone's tuning in for my hot takes on things. I know, but when we started this podcast, you took horror much more seriously than you do now. For sure. Yeah. Which has been very fun to experience. I think there has to be this like flow chart of everything else turning to crap and me just being like, fuck it.
Starting point is 00:43:36 The fucking, let's go. Let's just do whatever I'm going to get together with my bud and talk shit about and have fun. Right now we're just like like thin thin thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. I'm thi. thi. thi. thi. tho thi. I thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. to thi. thi. thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. shit and have fun. Right now we're just like running blindfolded towards a pool worth like, you know, on a hot day, we're hoping we'll make the jump, you know? A popsicle in one hand and a cold beverage and the other just hope that we're gonna make it. Yep, just hold them above your head and hope for the best.
Starting point is 00:43:57 Oh man. Speaking of hoping for the best. Yes. Um, how about our Patreon? Insane. Insane, you fucking people. So beautiful. We, I just, I am just, I'm overwhelmed. I'm taking it back. I'm, for sure. I'm, oh, I'm backwards and I am, the, the willms have come over me. There's definitely part of me that every time we get an email notification, I'm like, word? We've got Tim Lamb, which is pronounced Raymond Luxury Yacht from New Rochelle, famous nationwide for their coronavirus hot zone. Is he Elon Musk kid? Because I understand you can spell one thing and coronavirus hot zone. Is he Elon Musk kid?
Starting point is 00:45:25 Because I understand you can spell one thing and pronounce it another way. I think that's true. And his fact is that he would really like me to go on Marveling at Marvel's Marvels, where everyone has to review a horror theme to Marvel movie, Blade or New Mutants or something such, which means absolutely nothing to me.
Starting point is 00:45:40 So there are two Marvel fans and two not Marvel fans discussing the film. It's a crossover. It would be the return of Alan as well if they would have me back and not just have you on as a guest. I actually love the idea that I would take your place permanently as the middleman on that show. I would like to see how long that would last to her. 15 minutes. We've got Zach from Zach Zach Zach Zach Zach Zach Zach Zach Zach Zach Zach Zach Zach Zach Zach Zach Zach Zach Zach Zach Zach Zach Zach Zach Zach Zach Zach Zach Zach Zach Zach Zach Zach Zach Zach Zach from Zach from Zach from Zach from Zach from Zach from Zach like to see how long that would last time. 15 minutes. We've got Zach from Sarasota who says, if you're willing to deliver a message for me, it could be, and I quote, in the mouth of madness is an underrated classic of American cinema. Fuck yeah, it is Zach.
Starting point is 00:46:17 That is a hundred percent true. And finally for this week we've got Dan Cherry from here in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. The fact about him is that we are the very first Patreon he's ever backed. Dan. And I just find that so sweet and so kind. Thank you all so much. Yeah. They do a lot of sharingief in the night. And if you like a paranormal... That wasn't good. It's weird. Yeah. I feel like Toby right now, just jerking it over somebody else making a sex date.

Sure, and the neighbor's got to know what I look like when they come up to knock on the tour. I think the choice of having it be a bird bath. Sure. They're peeing into. It's a little much. Well, what was the film we did on the podcast about a woman with a had a statue of a lactating
Starting point is 00:52:09 woman? Oh God, I can picture it but I can't remember what it was. Yeah, it's gone. Probably mausoleum. It's weird that you're lactating and peeing at the same time I guess I'm saying. You gotta get out those toxins those those those those those those those those those those those those those toxins those toxins those toxins those toxins those toxins those toxins those toxins those toxins those toxins those toxins those toxins those toxins th toxins th toxins th toxins thox toxins thox toxins thox toxins thox toxins thoxoxoxoxoxoxoxins thox toxins. Is thox toxins, is thoxins, is thoxins, is tho-aux toxins. Is tho-aux, is tho-aux, is tho-aux, is tho-aux. Is tho-a tho-a tho-a th. Is tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho-a. tho-a. to-a. to-a. to-a. to-a. to-a' thaueeateateate. to-a. tho-a. tho-a I think so. Speaking of toxins, action movies. Uh, Katie does not necessarily enjoy action movies. That's not entirely true. I have very little history with action movies. There we go. Let me tell you what action movies I've seen. Oh, please.
Starting point is 00:52:37 Die hard. Fast and Furious one. Ah. one. Does like street fighter count or is that a comedy? No that's an action okay I saw that. Mortal Kombat. Sure, sure. Point break. Which you do not like we're going to have to do. I know. I know I need to like have a clean break with my past impressions of point break as being a movie that my dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb dumb ex boyfriend really like. Sure. Yeah because it. So dumb, and that might be it for action movies. Running Man, does that count? Oh for sure. Okay, I saw that. Yeah, what
Starting point is 00:53:13 about Blade Runner? Uh, no, that's more of a sci-fi film. Uh, that's what I thought. That's more of a sci-fi-fi noir. Uh-n, th-n, th-n, th-n, th-n, th-n, th-n, th-n, th-n, th-a-n, th-a-n, th-a-a-a-a-a-n-n-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-s, that, that, that's-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a, that, that, that, that's, that's, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, th-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-a-s, that, that, that, that, th-s. Yeah, that-s. Yeah, that-s. Yeah, that's-s. Yeah, that's-s-s-s. that's-s-s-s-s. Yeah, that's-s-s-s-a-s-a-afi-noir. Okay. Yeah, that might be it then. So I just have very little experience. You've done Predator. Yeah, that's true, but it's also a horror movie. Yeah. What about like classics, like, Clash of the Titans or Jason and the Argonauts? oriented for sure, but for me like action movies are explosions, which those old sword and sandal movies are lacking in explosions. That's true. That's fair. Yeah. No car chases. No car chases. And just really dumb, lunk-headed heroes. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:06 Okay. And of course there's there's, you know, breaks to that if there's there's people who aren't lukeheads. I mean, this if thi, if that's if that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's th. If th. If that's th. If th. If that's th. If that's th. that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's there's there's you know breaks to that if there's there's people who aren't long heads I mean this if that's true. Yeah, I did not experience it this week True, it's true. He he is playing against type in this Bruce Willis in what way is he playing against type? In this uh, Bruce Willis? In what way is he playing against type? Because well as I was reading about this movie, we're doing Die Hard, by the way, did we say that? I think so. Okay. Um, if not, we are. This movie was shopped to Sylvester Stallone. Ah, Arnold Schwarzenegger. Oh, I've seen all the Rainbow movies, do they count? Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:54:37 Okay, I've seen those. Oh, yeah. The. the first. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Oh. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to. to. to. to. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I don't think that's an action movie the first one. No, no, no, no. No, no. Go on, I'm so sorry. So they, they optioned them to those, they like the biggest action movie guys and they didn't want it. Yeah. So they got kind of an every man and Bruce Willis to do this. He does not look like an every man. I mean, but he is very buff. He's very buff, for sure. He does not look like an every man. Yeah, but he's more every man than Schwarzenegger is. Well, that's true. He's more every man than Stalon is. He's doing a better American than Schwarzenegger anyway.
Starting point is 00:55:16 I get so mad about that. How am I always supposed to believe him as an American? Well, they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they named him Dutch, the most American of nicknames. I can't wait to do a Terminator movie. I can't wait to see a Terminator movie. I feel like it's a hole in my like pop culture knowledge. And honestly this filled in a lot of holes for me.
