Werewolf Ambulance: A Horror Movie Comedy Podcast - Episode 307- Attack the Block (2011)

Episode Date: November 16, 2020

In this week's episode, we're loopy on prosecco and the fact that we still didn't know who won the election at the time of recording, which is just fine because we are talking about the 2011 British s...ci-fi horror comedy "Attack the Block." Special topics for your consideration include: an extremely brief synopsis of a television series that has been running for nearly 40 seasons, wiggly dog butts, slang we *absolutely* do not understand, the concept of Katie being Freaky Friday'd with a teenage boy and digressions: lots of em.  British horror comedy! First and foremost, check out Episode 160- "Shaun of the Dead" but if you'd like something more on the horror end, you can't go wrong with Episode 60- "American Werewolf in London" and if you'd like something more on the comedy end, there's always Episode 131- "Hot Fuzz." Starting point is 00:00:00 Hello, hello. Hi, Alan. How are you? Oh, I'm hanging in. How are you? Hello? Hello? Hello.
Starting point is 00:00:11 Hello. Hi, Alan. How are you? Oh, I'm hanging in. How are you? I'm doing great. We still don't know what the outcome of the presidential election. Hello. Hello. Hello. How are you? Oh, I'm hanging in. How are you?
Starting point is 00:00:27 I'm doing great! We still don't know what the outcome of the presidential election. So I'm doing great. It's a Thursday, November 5th at 8.40 p.m. the time we still don't know. By the time this episode comes out, you're like, you fucking We're drinking champagne anyway. Yeah, yeah. Just hanging out. Just having a little bubble. Just drinking weeks of champagne because we do not do two of these in one night. Nope. I've been here for seven days.
Starting point is 00:00:51 I wish Alan would let me go home and see my family. It's why I got a comfy chair. It's too comfortable. So tonight we're here to talk about a British film. Hmm. Oh, hmm. Oh, is it very proper? It's very proper. So polite.
Starting point is 00:01:09 I'm going to drink my Proseco with my pinky up. This is a clashing of cultures. I like how you couldn't, though. You had to put your pinky back on the glass. I need the stability. Stability. Why do you put your pinky. It exists for a reason. I've got these tiny hands. Someone once told me that we were evolving out of having pinkies, but I don't think that's true. How are you going to tap when you're playing guitar? That's what I think too, yeah. We're just going to keep the fretting hand, Pinky. Sorry., which is a very hoiety-toi British film.
Starting point is 00:01:46 It is absolutely not. It is like, so the movie follows a bunch of British teens, and I swear to God they're speaking a different language than me. What do you mean, bruv? They're saying, they're saying bare, I don't know. Trust. Trust. Allow it. What? Is that how British teens talk? Because most British TV I watch is middle-aged to elderly people.
Starting point is 00:02:15 And almost exclusively white people. That's true. That's true. It's like the midsummer murder scandal. I mean, from the small amount of grime that I listen to, this seems pretty on point, but yeah. Sorry, the small amount of what? British hip-hop, grime.
Starting point is 00:02:33 Is that Elon Musk's wife? I think that's grimes. I can't be expected to continue with this. The probably the most popular grime artist in the states was Dizzy Rascal if you remember him. Yes I do. It's just like an offshoot of hip-hop that became something different in Britain. Okay. Yeah. Anywho. So my first note in this movie is that I was gonna get excited because we've got Star Wars, Dr. Who and I thought Penny Dreadful, because Luke Treadwell looks exactly like, or Treadaway, I'm sorry, is I thought he played Frankenstein in
Starting point is 00:03:19 Petty Dreadful. Oh, but he has a twin brother who is also an actor and he played Frankenstein in Petty Dreadful. And who is has a twin brother who is also an actor and he played Frankenstein in Petty Dreadful. And who is Luke Treadway in this film? Brueus. See I thought he was in the show Happy Valley which I very much enjoyed. Sure. I wonder if it was his twin brother. It may have been. I'll look that up. I was like why doesn't he have a fucking Penny Dreadful and his IMDB? This is bullshit. Bullshit.
Starting point is 00:03:47 Also, did you watch that show, Alan? Uh, yeah. Yeah. It's really pretty bad. Yeah. It's really pretty bad. Yeah. It's got the second worst.
Starting point is 00:03:55 tooble. the of the movie. What? What do you mean they find him? Where was he? In your heart the whole time? Oh no. It's how they beat Dracula. Oh no. It's still better than the end of Battlestar Galactica. Anyway.
Starting point is 00:04:17 I didn't never watch that and I... I can't imagine. I watched the movie, I think. Isn't there a movie? Uh, Battle Star Calectic? There's a mini series. Well, whatever you say then. I really can't get I-D. Oh, here we go.
Starting point is 00:04:34 Hold on. I just want to see this really quickly. Really, really quickly. I think also my phone is dying. And it just keeps opening apps that I'm not opening. Forget it. It doesn't matter who played the kid on Happy Valley. Which kid? Not even a kid. The murderer guy? No, the son, her son. Oh no, he would have been too old for that, I think. Yeah. I think. Yeah, Carl Davies. All right, well, never mind then. Sometimes I can't tell white men apart. So this is my second time watching this movie in two weeks, which I'm very excited about. I do feel bad about that because you said I just watched Attack the Block and I was like, well, let's do this for the podcast, blah, and made you watch it again.
Starting point is 00:05:16 I hadn't seen it in a couple years. It's great. I was excited to watch it again because I felt like I was like fresh on it. So because it's been a couple years since I saw it, I remembered it being like a super fun romp a la monster squad where it's very low stakes. That is not what happens. I was shocked with the child death. It's very high stakes and there's a lot of sociocultural commentary in it that I just did not remember in this otherwise fun alien romp. And it's got this great be nice to people because you never know who they're going to like they're going to help you later on message that I really appreciate. I don't love the message of be nice to people because you might need them. Sure. That's a little bad but also just be nice to Jody Whitaker. For sure. Don't mug Dr. Who. the to. to. to be. to be a to be a the to be a to be a their. to be a to be a their. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. thi. th. thoom. thoom. thi. thi. thoo. thoo. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. thi. Be nice. Be nice. Be nice. Be nice. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I's. I. I. I. I. I'm. I'm. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. I'm th. I'm th Jody Whitaker. For sure. She's a treasure. Don't mug Dr. Who.
Starting point is 00:06:06 Or Broad Church, as she's also in my notes. That's what I know her from this broad church. That's a new Dr. Who? Yeah. She's the first lady, Dr. Who? That's cool. Yeah. Is it good?
Starting point is 00:06:16 I've never seen it. Me either. I've never. then. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. the. th. th. the. th. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. to. the. to. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. ot. No, I'm not going to do that right. He's a time traveler. Or she's a time traveler. Or they're a time traveler. Okay. Who solves fun crimes and stuff. It's a good time. I think he would enjoy Dr. Who? I know. I'm tired, Alan. So these British teens mugged Jody Whitaker. Yeah. And they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And tak. th. took. took. took. took. took. took. took. took. took. took. took. took. took. try. try. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. th. I th. th. th. th. th. th. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. the. the. the. the. the. the. th. th. th British teens mug Jody Whitaker. Yeah. And they take... And a very brutally violent... I mean, she gets pushed to the ground. They need not. She's giving them her stuff. And like a knife pulled on her and they're not...
Starting point is 00:06:56 It's not like a Dickensian mugging. No, they are not sympathetic in any way. No. And they're being sort of headed up by Moses, who's a Star War. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Okay. Is that the one we saw together? Did we see a Star War again? I don't know. Yes we did, no. I don't fucking care honestly, actually. We must have seen the one. Yeah, I think we did. Yeah, I think we saw one of the ones that he was in. How many is he in? Three of them. He's in the three most recent ones.
Starting point is 00:07:27 So he's a rich guy now, huh? Oh yeah. Yeah. In this movie, he's meant to be a teen, and at one point he's 19. That's a really big difference. I was very confused. I was like, why are there fireworks in England? They don't have a 4th of July. Yeah, they should be mad on the 4th of July because we took ourselves from them.
Starting point is 00:07:53 But it's Guy Fox Nightwing in honor of someone try to blow up Parliament, they blow shit up. Do you remember that weird fireworks thing that happened here over the summer. There were just fireworks every day for like days and days and days and days and then it just ended. That's so weird. My firework nightmare? Yeah. There were fireworks here on Halloween. Really? Yeah. I haven't heard them over in my neighborhood on a while. It's weird. People love to blow stuff up. Yeah. Do refer to them as street tufs. Street tufs. Yeah, I've thus that is an extremely the the th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi thi thi the the thi the the the the the the their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their thi thi thi. things and things and things and things and things and their fire fire-n th. thea. their fire fire work. their fire work. their their their their their the blow stuff up. Yeah. Do you refer to them as street tufs. Street tufts? That is an extremely NPR listening to a middle-aged man thing to say. Or as Sam's neighbor describes them,
Starting point is 00:08:35 excuse my French, but they're fucking monsters, aren't they? Really like. So as they're mugging her, something falls from the sky and blows up the car next to them, which Moses immediately jumps into try and steal stuff out of. Yeah, he goes in through the window because he can't get the door to open and I was like, buddy, the window's broken. Stick your hand in there and unlock it. And while he's in there, he gets attacked by some sort of monster. Yeah, I forgot how cool that original creature looks. They're so great.
Starting point is 00:09:05 Yeah. So weird and just tiny and gross and. Yegg. For some reason, something that can kill you and his eyeless is very upsetting. Yes. Yes, because how does it know? Yeah. So they, it attacks them.
Starting point is 00:09:21 He says, trust, I to kill that thing. Yeah. They go and kick the shit out of this thing. Yeah, there are some like fireworks into a little area with it. Yeah, and then you feel kind of bad for it because it's scared while they're shooting fireworks at it. Because I think really the true horror of this film is both racism and teens. Mm-hmm. Both things th th th th th things th th th th things th th th th th th things th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thinks thinks thinks thinks thinks thinks thinks teens. Both things are bad. Because at this point I'm also like, oh is it a baby? Is it a baby of these with things? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:55 No, it's not a baby. And they just take its body out and they're carrying it around above their heads like fucking maniacs. They have it on a belt which I was like so one of them is losing their pants while they're walking around. They're taking it to Nick Frost's apartment. Ron. Ron. Ron. Who says it smells like a shit did a shit which I love. Maybe there was a party at the zoo and a monkey fucked a fish. Nick Frost is a treasure also. If you need a dude to play a fuck up in a movie, oh my god he's amazing at it. Seth Rogan move over. They also take it and show it off to some ladies to impress them. They're like, fuck this. Oh the one lady is like, oh you killed that? You think so? I thought they were like, oh you killed that? That's fucked up. I think she gives him the, the old, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the old, the old, the old, the old, the old, the old, the old, the old, the old, the old, the old, the old, the old, the old, the old, the old, th. the th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. too, too, too, too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. too. that? You think so? I thought they were like, oh you killed that, that's fucked up.
Starting point is 00:10:46 I think she gives him the old Google eye, the old, who's, that's what they say. I haven't know that just God, teens are wretched. Because they are, they're wretched. Oh, but I love the one who's like, trying to to, the one who's like trying to like jump off the the one landing to the other landing I can do it I can do and they're like just get the fuck down I'm gonna break your neck really yeah that's such good teen bullshit like oh teens stress me out man teens they're always laughing at you if you see if you're on the street and teens are laughing you immediately assume they're They're definitely calling me Santa Claus. They're not wrong. I got presents.
Starting point is 00:11:27 So we also meet, is it Bruis? Yeah. Bruis who is like a rich kid who came to buy weed from Ron. Your traditional fuck up. And he's just like so intimidated by this group of teens, which is just so on point. It's so great because when we meet him he's listening to sound of the police by KRS or by Boogie-down productions and he's like just singing along and then they roll up alongside me he's like okay all right I'm now scared I'm now scared
Starting point is 00:11:59 man. Yeah do you think that's because they were multicultural or because they're a group of teens? Because they're unpredictable? Yeah I am I th scared th scared th scared th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi the thi thi thi thi the the thi thi th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi the thee theeeeee the the the the thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thithat's because they were multicultural or because they're a group of teens? Because they're a group of teens. Because they're unpredictable. Yeah. I am terrified when I'm surrounded by teens. Yeah. They're like dogs, or off-leash dogs. So if you're a teen, I don't remember it but okay.
Starting point is 00:12:17 From what I recall, your body is at war with you as it tries to grow, your hormones are raging and making your brain stop working. Yeah. And you just do the dumbest shit. I genuinely believe that there is no creature worse than a teenage boy. Like you can convince a teenage boy to do anything. For sure. Anything. Yeah, because it's funny. Yeah. It'll be funny. Yeah. They still say cool? Oh yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. They still say cool. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah For sure. Anything. Yeah. Because it's funny. Yeah. It'll be funny. Yeah. They still say cool. Oh yeah, kids all the time. Really? They love being cool. Yeah. they're. they love being cool. Really? they love being like, cool. Is cool. I'm so. I say like, oh, yeah. That's cool all the time. But like, what if what I'm saying is to us to us like our parents being like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, their, their, their, their, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, their, their don't know, I still say dope. I do too, but I think that came back because the 90s came back. So maybe Cool did too. I don't know. Kids, get in touc. Do you still say cool? Rob makes fun of me for saying dope. Does he? Yeah. He's wrong. Dope is dope. He's like, you're just trying to be to be in the Civil War. I. I. I I. I I I. I. I I. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. th. thi. Rob. Rob. Rob. Rob. Rob. Rob. Rob. Rob. Rob. Robe. Robe. Robe. Rob.'re just trying to be young. And I'm like, you're trying to be in the Civil War. I don't think...
Starting point is 00:13:28 Who's worse? I don't think either of us saying dope, A makes us look hip or young. No, I think it makes me look way worse. Maybe that's what he's getting at. In this scene we also meet High Hats. Hats andtonks. Tonks. I did that's who tonks is and I didn't know. Yeah. Hi-hats is playing his own beats yeah which he plays throughout the movie which is a very funny song. Yeah. Brap, brap, brap. Get the
Starting point is 00:13:58 strap. I was blown away that that's somebody else's song. That wasn't a funny that they made up for the movie. I'm so cold-blooded, I shit snow. You know, that's kind of a dope line. What? Can I say what? Is that dope? I've been watching a lot of Deezis and Mero, and now I say wow about everything. I'm sorry you've watching a lot of what?
Starting point is 00:14:27 Deezis and Mero it's a late night talk show on Showtime but their videos are on. No I don't but their videos are on YouTube. Oh, and I just assumed you were jerking it to Showtime for sexy content. I'm sorry I shouldn't. I assume people have showtime for sexy content. Is that right? That was Cinex. Sime-Sexx. Ssex. Sex, their. Sex, their, their, their, their, their, their, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, I, I, I, I, I'm, I, I, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm th. I'm th. I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, their, their, th. What, th. I, th. What, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I's, th. I's, th. I'm, th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. I'm th. th. th. th. theeat, th. th. theat, their the. the. the. the. th. th. that was Cinemax. Cinemax was the sexy content. Showtime that sexy content? Did it? Yeah? I think. I mean, they all, I mean, fucking look at HBO. HBO's now doing Lord of the Rings, where they're like trying to cast people who are willing to get naked. And I'm like, dog, think Game of the Throa Thorns. It's Lord of the Cock Rings.
Starting point is 00:15:05 Yes, I would, I'm sure it exists and I will watch it. You've got Dildo Bagons. Yes! It brights itself. I really do it. One cock ring to rule them all. So... And in the darkness, bind them?
Starting point is 00:15:20 Why would you make Lord of the Rings sexy? Nobody fucks in it. It's an HBO show and they're like, how do we get fucking into it? Nobody fucks in that, do they? No! Maybe like, um... There's not even an implication? Live. You know, what's his face?
Starting point is 00:15:34 You know, like, nice fucking. they're like, nice fucking. Not like, nice,, F-B-O fucking. They're like making love. Not like true blood, athletic sex bullshit. I don't know what that means. So look out for Lord of the Rings Fuck Fest 2021. I mean, come on. What the hell were we talking about that we got down that? Oh, I was saying that I watched a lot of Deezis and Mero, so I've picked up some of their slang that they use and I'm like this probably isn't appropriate
Starting point is 00:16:09 for me to be using but I just go wow. No, I like that. I feel like that's fine. Yeah, so we meet tonks and hihats. Hi hats, brep, brap. I just love because brap is also the sound of fart makes. I. th, and I. th, th, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the the their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, likeap, I just love, because brap is also the sound of fart makes, and I appreciate that. I think of it as a burp, like a real deep, like wiggly, jawed burp, you know? Just getting that thing in the back of your throat going. You're uvula. And we also the two favorite characters in this movie. Who are? Probs and mayhem. Probs and mayhem. They are adorable, but also it's really sad. Why?
Starting point is 00:16:48 There's just nine-year-old wannabe gang members. Yeah. Oh, that's why. That's why. That's why. They are like, and these two actors are like the baby-facedest babies. They have the kind of faces you just want to put in your hands and go, mhm, mhm. They are babies. I love that one of them is named Mayham, a legit tough name, and the other is probes.
Starting point is 00:17:10 Is that like problems? Or is it like, I'll probes be there? I think it's like I've got a lot of problems. I got probs. Causing probs for you. Frobs. I mean, like, the kids in this movie, Jerome owns a machete. Why? Oh, because he's a boy. Oh, really?
Starting point is 00:17:29 Oh, yeah, yeah. They issue them to you guys. Yeah. I didn't get shit. I've got like some drugstore menstrel pads and I'm talking about wearing deodorant. They gave you guys machetes. Not in school. I mean, when, when, that, scene where they'll go to get weapons from their house, I'll 100% identify with that because I definitely had knives.
Starting point is 00:17:53 Not one knife. At like 13 years old I had knives. Where do you get knives? You know, uncles, dads, and their aunts. Oh, jeez. You need a knife in case. Again, I grew up in this weird olden times, like maybe it's going to be a knife fight, maybe who knows what's going to happen. It's just a dude thing. Like I often ride my friend Perry for carrying around a knife, but then I'm often also like,
Starting point is 00:18:21 Perry can you open this for me and he just whips on a box cutter, you know? Yeah, people at work were freaked out that I always have a knife on me. And I was like, yeah, I was having a knife in my pocket. Yeah, they say stick to things. And I use it every goddamn day. Yeah. Yeah, that's gross and bad. Tocks. with it. Not yet. I like the nice lady who helps Broad Church after she gets
Starting point is 00:18:47 smoked. She's like, oh you're having a rough time, let me take you back up to my apartment and I get you some tea. That is really nice. It is. Be nice to people. Yeah. It costs you nothing to be nice. nah man it's an alien invasion and Ron just goes, of course it is. I love Ron. I feel like he gets a very raw deal in this film. Ron is going to jail for a really long time. That's not fair.
Starting point is 00:19:16 That's true, legalize it. He's just doing his best. I love when he's watering the weed and checking it out with his reading glasses on the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the weed and checking it out with his like reading glasses on the end of his nose like he looks like Ben Franklin it's so good. I guess to be fair too he is also selling weed to children. Yeah and getting them high. And wearing what look to be a leather track suit? I enjoyed his look very much. I also that his wig was excellent. You don't think that's his hair? No I don't think that man has that little that little that little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little little that little that little that little that little that little that little that little that little that little that little that little that little that little that little that little that little that little that little that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's. No, I don't. No, I don't. I don't think that man has that little self-respect.
Starting point is 00:19:46 Ha. Ah. So, the key, yeah, they all run back to their homes to get weapons. Right, because they see all these things hitting the ground and are like, oh, we've got to go fight them all. Yeah. theyretape's. their th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. Yeah. they th. Yeah. they they th. They's they they they they th. Yeah. they. they they they they they they they they they they they they the they Again, teenage boys. Yeah. And then you have to see them like dealing with their parents. Oh my god, it's so sad. I just thought like, oh someday my kids gonna lie to me and get all mouth offy and like, I just have to be ready for it. Yeah, there was like the varying degrees of not giving a shit about them. Yeah, there was like grandma that was like, the the the the the the the the the the the th. T-taking th. T-tak-tak-tak-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-f-fix-fix-fix-fing that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's th. that's th. th th th th th tha tha-s today today today today tha-s today today tha-s tha-s today th th th th th that's that's that's just like, hey, just be safe. Yeah, she was checked out. There was dad that was like, take the fucking dog, dickhead. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:20:29 Oh, Pogo. There was overprotective mom. Yeah, overprotective mom that you could still just lie to and get out of the house. Yeah. Oh boy, teens. Yeah. So Dennis goes back to the house to to to to to to to take Pogo with him which is his little adorable puppy dog. It's a very cute dog. You know immediately the Pogo is not long for this girl. I know why Pogo? As soon as
Starting point is 00:20:53 they showed Pogo I was like I was like I don't's gonna be mad about Pogo. You can do you get to see his little wiggly butt as he runs away though. The Wiggly dog butt. We are a show about wiggly dog butts when you really get down to it. Dick jokes and dog butts. Dick jokes, dog butts. No that's it. Yeah, I'm starting to think of a third. No, that's it. They go out to locate the aliens, and they go to the playground, and they see an enormous black shape moving. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:25 I love that these things are pitch black. Pitch black except for their teeth. Yeah. Which they are like neon, teal glow in the dark. And the thing that I really like about them is that there's several rows of teeth, which I find to be very spooky. Yeah. I also, when the monster's growl, it looks like eyes. Yeah, because the teeth move like independently of one another.
Starting point is 00:21:47 It's so good and creepy. And the actors that are in those suits are insane. Yeah. Like, just being able to run around like that. Yeah, the things, the aliens in this movie are interesting because they're like incredibly savage. Like, they don't stop to think, they just th think, think, think, think, think, think, think, think, think, think, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, like, like, like, thi, thi, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thro, thro, thro, thean, thoo, thean, thi. thean, thi. thean, like, thi. thi, like,to think, they just kill. Like, there's no reasoning with them, there's no approaching them, there's no, like, they don't stop to think about anything. They just are brutal, brutal murderers.
Starting point is 00:22:12 It's very cool. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. We forgot to mention that they went back to R how it's like a never-before-discovered species. I think he says here to for undiscovered. Yeah, that's what he says, you're right. I told you it was hoity-to-i. So, so the cops, the cops pick up, Moses for robbing Sam earlier in the film.
Starting point is 00:22:40 Right, because the cops that gets picked up? It is because Biggs jumps off the bike and knocks him down because he was riding on the pegs and knocks Moses over because he like unbalances the bike. And the cops get him and he has been picked by High Hats to start being a drug dealer. Right. So he's got a bunch of drugs in his sock. Harder drugs. Because if he has been picked hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi hi he has to to to to to to to to to to to to he he he to to he he to he he to he to he he to he he's jumps he's jumps to to to to jumps jumps jumps jumps to to to jumps jumps jumps jumps jumps jumps jumps to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the. thi thi thi. thi. thi. He thi. He's he thi. He So he's got a bunch of drugs in his sock. I don't know. Harder drugs. Yeah. Highhats asks him if he's like has been selling weed for Ron and he says a little bit or something like that. Yeah. So he gets busted with that. He's got the cell phone from Sam. Her cell phone. Her cell phone. Yeah. And then I think he's got a knife on him or something. He's got a propelled open blade, which are problems.
Starting point is 00:23:29 That scene where Highhats chooses him to be a drug dealer is also really sad too because his friends are all congratulating him. It's bleak. Yeah. Yeah. And when Highhats picks him, he's like, you're mine now. Yeah, you're my boy now. Yeah. I remember when I was approached to sell drugs for somebody and I was like, no. Yeah, I had a neighbor who was a Coke dealer.
Starting point is 00:23:51 Wow. How old were you when this happened? 15 or 16? Would you have been able to find a market for cocaine? Yeah. Okay. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:01 Unfortunately. There was dudes who was always a hard thing to come to come to come to come to come to come to come to come to come to come to come to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to my high school all the time. Coke was always a hard thing to come by in these parts, or at least for me. Weed was really hard to come by when I was a kid. Yeah, Coke apparently not though. Interesting. Uh, the creatures come down and kill the cops brutally, just mush them, just fucking murder them.
Starting point is 00:24:24 Yeah. And they tra, just fucking murder them. Yeah. And they trap Sam and Moses and Dennis in the police van. They steal it. Yeah. And drive into a parking garage and get into a front end collision with High Hats. And High Hats is freaking out because he's hit a cop car. And then Tonks is like, those are kids. He says, that's youths in there. Which I love because you know I love calling
Starting point is 00:24:52 people youths. Yutes. Just go full cousin Vinny on it. Oh my god, what a great film. It's a masterpiece. I want to get home tonight. So, High H confronts them as like, I'm going to kill you for wrecking my car. And then Pest, we haven't mentioned as to yet, but Pest. He's fucking ridiculous. He is a pest. He explains to Highhats that it's aliens. And I think there's bear aliens. Brove.
Starting point is 00:25:23 Brove. And he's like, I love that we just don't get it. And he's like, there's one on the roof. What is he talking about? And it jumps down from the ceiling. And I was like, oh, you met the ceiling. Yeah. Highhats tells Tonks to go over and check it out. Yeah. Which tanks tanks tanks tanks is is tanks tanks is tanks is tanks is tanks is. Yeah. Which Tonks does. This movie's a lot about like being able to
Starting point is 00:25:45 order people to do things for you. Yeah. And Tonks, Tonks who has already been like sort of charming. Yeah. Because like when he sees the original body of the first alien creature that Moses is killed, he's like, you're mad good at puppets. And you're like, oh, that's really sweet. So this thing descends on him. puppets. And you're like, oh, that's really sweet. So this thing descends on him. Mm-hmm. This is where I have the note tonsk gets donked. Oh, he does get donked. It rips his throat right out.
Starting point is 00:26:13 Yeah. And then I was like, oh, wait, maybe this isn't just a fun rom. The kids escape as, um, hi-hats is shooting the alien. And they have to get back to the block. Right. Which if you haven't figured it out yet, is there a housing block that's been attacked? Right. So, Pest says to his friends, like, this is really fucked up, but it's also pretty sick, young man.
Starting point is 00:26:42 Like, he's decidedly not sick, young man. But haven't you ever been in those situations where like shit's gone wrong, but it's still kind of fun? Oh yeah, like fearing for your life, but only just a little bit. Yeah. I'm shitting myself, but at the same time, this is sick. I feel alive. Yeah, for sure. going like yeah yeah and you're a dumb teen boy good God well that never
Starting point is 00:27:06 happened for me no that didn't no there's still time I don't think I would trade being a 36 year old woman for being a 17 year old boy no no worst freaky Friday oh god what would I even do honestly well you'd jerk off'd jerk off. I would jerk it so hard. Yeah. For him and for me. You'd put your wiener in a bunch of weird stuff just to see what it feels like. Would I? Yeah, you gotta test it out.
Starting point is 00:27:36 I think there's like a thing of an industrial-sized tub of hummus. Look at you hummus. I'm a fuck that hummus. I'm just lightly laying in there. Yeah. Why can't I fuck the hummus though? Are you telling that you can't? You do what you're going to do? I'm 17. Can't stop me. This is one of our weirder episodes. Have you seen that new Freaky Friday that's coming out? No. With Vince Vaughn is a serial killer who goes to kill a teenage girl and they swap bodies. And so it's teenage girls in Vince Vaughn's body and has to stop him as a teenage girl from killing people. That actually sounds super fun. It does. It's called, it it's called Freaky. And I think it comes out on a Friday.
Starting point is 00:28:25 Oh, I like it. Oh, I like that a lot. Yeah, it looks really fun. I wish I could go see a movie. What's this? Yeah. Yeah. There is like the thing that I think I miss most about pre-pandemic life is taking a day off of work, not telling anybody driving to water work, to get a their, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, and a the the the the the the the th.e, I, I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and I, and Ia, and I'm, and a the thia, and I'm, and I'm, and I'm at 11 AM going in buying a big box of raisinets, just watching a movie by myself,
Starting point is 00:28:49 I miss seeing a movie by myself, more than anything I think. You could probably go now and see one by yourself because I doubt there's anybody else. Are they still running movies? Yeah, I think. I'm still not going to. Yeah, some jerk would come in without a mask on you. Yeah, and then I'd put away my raisinets, which is like, why did I bother? Or you just fill your mask with them and eat them? Oh, like pouches and a hamster's cheese. So, they make it back to the yeah, it's brutal. I think the whole bike chase back there is really fun too and really like tense. Yeah, a lot of this movie is chasing and jumping and going up and downstairs and it's just,
Starting point is 00:29:33 it's really, really fun. Yeah. Biggs ends up in a paper recycle bin. He spends the rest of the film there. He looks like a baby too. He has like a little crustace and everything. Oh man, I can never remember when I started like shaving. It was just like one day all the sudden I had to shave. Did you just look in the mirror and you had a beard? I think, I remember having a goatee. Yeah, that's the first part. Yeah, it's the first part. Yeah, I had that for a real long gotee. It's not a good look. It's not. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. Oh. I. Oh. Oh. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I the th. I the th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I the th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I the. I the. I the. I the. I the. I the. I the. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I the. I can never never never never never the. I the. I can never never never the. I the. I the. I the. I the. I th. I th. I the thing that comes first. Yeah, I had that for a real long time too. Yeah, I used to grow a long-go-tee. It's not a good look. It's not a good look.
Starting point is 00:30:06 It's not a good look. It's not. What are you in lit? Are you in the band lit? Or mud vein? To keep with our referencing shitty news, who listen to our show largely don't know or care about. Don't you remember early on there was a guy that got mad because we were making fun of mud vein in ghost ship? Yeah, no, but that's awesome.
Starting point is 00:30:32 Wow. Tool I would have accepted being upset about it, because people get really upset when you make fun of tool. Although I will continue to do it as much as I can. Uh, Mudvane though. Mud vein. Someone's going to defend their honor. I cannot think of a mudvane song. Why would you?
Starting point is 00:30:49 No. So Peskitt's bit and they're running him upstairs and they see Sam and they run into her apartment. Poor Sam is having a funiff a fucking night. I love that she runs into her bedroom to get a weapon and the only thing she finds is an acoustic guitar. Yeah and then does menace them with it and they're just like shut up. Which sucks because they have taken over her home. She has no agency in this. Yeah they're already living inside of her head and now they've taken over her home like... Oh little shit. Yeah. And they like get her to fix to work to work to work their to work their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their ass ass ass ass ass ass ass ass ass ass ass ass ass ass ass ass ass asshows. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. they. I. they. I. I. they. they. I. they. I. they. I. I. they're. I. S. Yeah. Yeah. S. Yeah. S. they like get her to fix, to work on a pest's wound,
Starting point is 00:31:25 because she has just graduated from nursing school. Right, and the one guy went through her, rifled through her wallet, and remember that she was a nurse and yelled at Moses for always picking on poor people. Yeah. Jody Whitaker is ageless. She can play any age seemingly. Like, how old is she in this movie? 26. And at the same time, she's playing like the mother of a 12 year old on Broadchurch. She's cool. That's all. Which of you all haven't watched Broadchurch. It's fucking brutal. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:31:58 But it's really good. But do it when you can stomach a lot of pain in your heart. Do it when you're feeling good, because you won't be. Yeah. But the cast is amazing. Scream inside your heart. Well, there's another Doctor Who in that show, too. Who? Who?
Starting point is 00:32:15 David Tenet? I did know that. Mm-hmm. I think you would enjoy his Doctor Who? And I just don't know where to start at the beginning, the beginning, the beginning, the beginning, the to, to, to, to, the, to, to, the, to, to, to, to, the, the, to, th, to, th, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, thi, thi, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, to, th....... to, to, to, thi, to, thi, to, to, to, to too, to, too, too, too, too, too, too, to to too. too. too, to, tto, the thing with Dr. Who, and I know we've discussed this before, is I just don't know where to start. Like, you can't start at the beginning because it's like... No, jumping at the beginning of the day of ten and stuff, it's fine. When is that from? Uh-huh. teat.
Starting point is 00:32:32 Fine. Can I ask one the air. So that's why people got so excited, because it came back. Yes, with Chris Eccleston is the first doctor back. Chris Eccleston. He is the head soldier in 28 days later. I'd probably know him to see him. You would know him to see him for sure. Sam fixes up the testeads the leg with him hitting on her the entire entire the entire the entire the entire the entire the entire the entire the entire the entire the entire the entire the entire the entire the entire the entire the entire the entire the entire the entire time. He still doesn't want to give her her ring back later. That broke my heart. He's a little dick. He is such a little dick. What he's like
Starting point is 00:33:08 she's ripping his pants and he's just like I can take him off if you want. I got new Calvin Klein's on. Fresh fresh today. Fresh today. Buddy every day's underwear should be fresh today. We meet props and mayhem again and now they have a squirt gun and a toy gun. Yeah. That the guys think is a real gun because it looks kind of real. Sure, it doesn't but sure. And because they get out of her apartment because... Do they get attacked? No, they don't. They're just, they're going up to Tia's apartment because she has a security door. She's a security gate, right. And I love this this this, well, why are we going there?
Starting point is 00:33:48 And Moses, this under's breath going, you wouldn't ask that if you've seen them fight. That's right. Yeah. But meanwhile, these girls seem like they're having a really nice little night. They're like chilling in the bedroom and doing each other's hair and just chatting. It seems like a really fun time. Mm-hmm. Yeah. And all the, but I will will, I will, I will, I will, I will, I will, I will, I will, I will, I will, I will, I will, I will, I will, I will, I will, I will, I will, I will, I will, I will, but I will, but I will, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th, th, th, th, th, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. this. but I will say all the smack that we've talked on teenage boys, riled up teenage girls are fucking monsters. No, I don't agree. What do you mean I riled up? Have you ever seen a teenage girl fistfight? Yeah. It is terrifying. Ask me if I've ever been beaten up by a teenage girl girl. The answer is yes. It's terrifying. Then I tried to to to to to to to to to ruin to ruin to ruin to ruin to ruin to ruin to ruin to ruin to ruin to ruin to ruin to ruin to ruin to ruin to ruin to ruin to ruin to ruin to ruin to ruin to ruin to ruin to ruin to ruin tried to ruin her life 20 years later. Never fucking forget. Never forgive. I will never forgive Mallory.
Starting point is 00:34:32 So they go up to Tia's apartment and eventually the alien started attacking that apartment. But there's this long speech about how, like, the police arrest them for nothing already. You know, that they're, this is where like the racism and classism story arc really gets like driven home. Right, because Sam wants to call the cops. Right. And they're like, where the fuck will we do that?
Starting point is 00:35:01 Yeah, it's, It's a bummer. It's really, really a bummer. And it's, I feel like it's nice, kind of subtle, like, if you're not really paying attention, you might not get it. Yeah. But it's right there. Yeah. The girls kind of laugh at them, though, which I thought was weird.
Starting point is 00:35:21 Yeah, the girls kind of the implication that the cops would go after young black men. Yeah. Yeah, I think they're just fucking with them at all times. Yeah, the girl seemed just be like harassing them at all times, which I appreciate it. I like that one of them is named Dimples. Dimpels, yeah, Dimples is sassy. Yeah, this is where I was like, oh no, in my memory, this was Monster Squad. Because Dennis gets straight murder. Yeah, yeah, yeah. They rip his fucking face off. Yeah, it looks great.
Starting point is 00:35:51 Yeah. And they all just stand around him and cry. Or the girls do anyway. No, Moses cries too. Does he cry too? And this is, but they have to kill the aliens and the girls do it with an ice skate. Yeah. And a broken light bulb. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:08 Beating a creature to death with an ice skate is very cool. Yeah. Extremely cool. I've always been terrified of ice skates. You know, they're really dangerous. Yeah. Like there's a goalie in the NHL. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:36:21 Yeah. Didn't it get it right in the jugular? Right in the carotid? Carotid? One of them. I'll stuff right here. Is that your jugular? Yeah, I don't know. He lift, it's okay.
Starting point is 00:36:31 Yeah, he's fine. I don't know if he's fine. He's fucked up. They just fucking go like off on this thing like to see a skate and be like, yep, that's what I'm going to kill this thing with. Imagine just having ice skates in your room. It would be so dangerous. Do you know how to ice skate? No.
Starting point is 00:36:50 No. All right. Yeah, my center of gravity is like here. I'm putting up. Yeah, I'm love to come. I'll hold both your hands it's fine. Do they have just like slippers I can go on the ice with? No. I have a sleigh that I can be pulled around on? I'll train Lucy to do that. Yep. I'll bring apple she can pull me. That's great. I bet you could get her to wear red nose too, that stupid asshole. that's stupid assu-a. So, and this is also where Sam saves Moses. Because dumbass gets his sword stuck in the wall. Yeah, and cannot get it out. No. And she kills the beast with a knife, I think, just stabs it a couple times. Yeah, right under the jaw. Oh god. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:37:42 Yeah. And now they have like a relationship. They're buds. Which I, you know. I do like that the whole time every time like pest is like we're friends now and she goes, friends fuck you. Yeah. You fucking mugged me, you dick. Yeah, like an hour ago.
Starting point is 00:37:57 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I feel like for all the dumb shit I've done in my like late teens, early 20s, I should have been mugged. For sure. For sure.
Starting point is 00:38:11 Yeah. Yeah. My friend Elliot was once, thea. their to'e He was like here here Here one kid was like take a cereal to and Elliot was like come on Let me keep my cereal. Take his cereal. That's so mean. Yeah, I think they let him keep it Oh, man Probably wasn't cinnamon toes crunch. I don't know if they saw that at the Sunoco So after Tia's apartment is a bust. They decide that they have to go up to Ron's??? the the the the their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their c. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. I they're they they they they they they they they they they they they they they their. C. C. C. C. C. C. I they their tip. C. I tip. I te. te. tell. tell. I tell. tell. I tell. tell. they they they they they they they they they that they have to go up to Rons. Yeah, the girls just run out of the building screaming, which is apparently the smartest thing to do.
Starting point is 00:38:53 For sure. Why don't they all just do that? Because they can't, they're going to be chased anyway. Because them pheromones. They don't know about that yet. It's true. But I love the scene of, the aliens, the aliens, the aliens, the aliens, the aliens, the aliens, the aliens, the aliens, the aliens, the aliens, the aliens, the aliens, the aliens, the aliens, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, they they they they're their, they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they they they they they, they they they they they they, they, they they they, they're, they they're, they're, they're they're they're to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to their to to to to their to to their their, the scene of they have like the aliens are all outside of Ron's apartment. So to like get through them they have to light up all these fireworks. They have so many fireworks. They too. Bangers. And I love like that gives it this great like almost call back to like universal monster films of the foggy night and them like trying to like or America Werewolf in London on the Moors absolutely there's a big monster that's gonna get them that was a very referential I think really good and then this is where a Jerome gets eaten and I love Jerome because he has glasses it's a nerd yeah
Starting point is 00:39:38 he's the one who keeps being like, come on, guys, guys, guys. Yeah, oh no, Jerome. And this whole time we've been seeing hi-hats on his way to murder them. Listening to his song every time. He gets stuck in the elevator with one of the aliens and two of his friends. And... That's horror, horror, horror. When the elevator door opens, when Brewis has to go back in because his dad's th's th's th's th's th's th's th's th's th's th's th's th's th's th's th's th's th's th's th's th's tho' tho' tho' tho' thoom's thoom's to to tooomeree. Oh thoomeree. Oh, oh no tooomoomoomoomoomoomoomoomoom. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no's horror, horror, horror. When the elevator door opens, when Brewis has to go back in because his dad's car has been wrecked. Oh yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:10 Oh yeah. Bruise. And he's just like, Hyat's, the door opens and hiats goes, you should get the next one. Because it's covered in gore of aliens and humans. It's really fucked up. Yeah. Hays is is is is is is is th th is th is th th is th is ths is ths ths is ths ths is ths ths ths ths ths ths is th. th. th. th. Yeah. Hyat is a sausage, as we're told, by one of the children. And then he never gets to experience his success of that song, does he?
Starting point is 00:40:36 No, because he's waiting in Ron's apartment for them. And the aliens bust in and kill him. He also gets his face ripped off. He, despite having killed in one of these alien creatures himself, is still mad at the kids. Sure, for sure. It's kind of not their fault. Well, you know, as we said, never forgive, never forget. That's right. Fuck you Mallory, bleep this last name. He gets an even, like Dennis's face gets kind of ripped off, but we see the entire lower half of hihat's face get ripped off.
Starting point is 00:41:10 It looks great. It looks amazing, it's so good. I really enjoyed it. And then Bruehiss is now hanging out with the teens. And he's like, oh, okay, that's cool. And he's like trying to get in with the like he says something and they're like, oh, okay, that's cool and he's like, oh, oh. Earlier he says wag-wong to them, which is like a greeting. I don't know the derivation of it or all and like puts up for a dab with him.
Starting point is 00:41:36 And it's just like, and they just go, the one guy goes, put your fucking hand down. But later on he gets the dab. But like I kept thinking he was not long for this world. I didn't feel like he should have made it to the end. Sure, you know. Sure. And he's also hitting on a broad church. Sure. But she doesn't seem to mind that as much. He's pretty cute, I guess in that 2011 way. It's a saggy boot and flop your hair kind of way. That's the one. So we cut back to Biggs in the recycling bin. And the little boys are now outside spraying the alien with accelerant and then lighting it on fire. I love this because earlier, our gang gang is like you're not going to
Starting point is 00:42:27 do anything with a water gun and as they walk away props goes it's not full of water. Yeah. It's fucking full of gasoline or kerosene or something. Some sort of accelerant because they burn this thing to death. And now Biggs respects them yeah and cost them props and mayhem they end up in the recycling bin with him because the other aliens come but you know it's th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th the the the the the thi the the on the the the the the th th the the th th the th. You th. You th. You th. You th. You th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th. th th th. the the the the the the the the the the to the to the theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee the the the the the the th props and mayhem. They end up in the recycling bin with him because the other aliens come, but you know, it's fine. So they're held up in the apartment, they realize that it's pheromones that they're being tracked on and they're...
Starting point is 00:42:55 Because it shows up under the UV light in Ron's weed room. And it definitely looks like Moses is covered in jizzed. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I I I I I I I Yeah, I imagine that some of it is also jizz because he's a teenage boy. And when I'm a teenage boy. Just gonna jerk it. Put in hummus. It'll be so cold. Is that good or bad? Yes. I hate myself move on. So they realize that they can blow them up. And Moses devises this plan of Sam going to his apartment, turning on the gas, closing all the doors and windows.
Starting point is 00:43:35 And then he's going to go down there and explode his apartment when he gets them all to follow him down. There's like a very emotional moment of her walking through the apartment and seeing the conditions he's's living in and that he has like little boy spiderman sheet not even sheets just a sleeping bag yeah yeah yeah yeah yeah the theyre the she's the other's shoes yeah yeah yeah and it's just like oh now she feels sorry for him for sure but he still mugged her but like it kind of puts it yeah yeah yeah yeah everybody sees each other's shoes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Everybody sees each other's shoes, as they say. I'm gonna be done with this bottle of champagne now. Let me see your shoes. I get it.
Starting point is 00:44:13 They're flippip-flops. I get you now. I love that you are flip-flops in your house instead of just not wearing shoes. I don't know why I do. I don't know why you do that the have. I like to have that gripshin. I feel like flip-flops are so slippy. I feel like you take a good spill on flip-flip. I could the Tiva ones with a lot of grip on the bottom. Such a strange man. No one would argue with you.
Starting point is 00:44:38 Yeah, that's good though. So she does the plan, and then Moses straps the female alien to his back. He's talking to her on the tiniest cell phone I've ever seen. It is so tiny. I love it. I hate how big cell phones are now. Sure. I want a teeny, tiny cell phone like that. Just a little flip phone? Yeah. I wanted to be a smartphone, but I want the screen to be like the size of a postage stamp. Sure. Yeah. I feel like it's 2020. We should have that by now.
Starting point is 00:45:07 Someone give that to me. Yeah. Elon Mucks and Grime, where are you? I feel like I should be able to like open my phone and then just kind of like throw the screen into the watch that television program. Okay, I was going to say minority report if you've watched that Tom Cruise movie. I saw it in the theater but I remember nothing about it. So he explodes the apartment. Yeah, it's a great explosion. It is and you think he's dead but he's jumped out and he's hanging on a Union Jack. I never thought he was dead. British stuff. I don't get that part. Why is he...
Starting point is 00:45:46 What is the symbol? Like... I don't know. Because there's a part about like, oh someone talking about helping kids overseas or something. Oh because he... Pest asked Sam if she's got a boyfriend. She says yes he's in Africa. Helping children. Yes. Well, he says, oh, that's cool. You're dating an African. And she's like, no, he's over there helping children. And Pest says, oh, he can't help British children? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:46:12 It's, there's definitely some commentary on the way that children are being raised in Britain, I guess. Sure. In certain socioeconomic conditions, but it's also very like, you're mixing this very serious message with something that's incredibly silly. And to have like your main character hanging from a union jack as a way to save themselves. It's just like, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:46:37 Do you know what I mean? It's hard to parse in this post-Brexit world that we're living in. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So he gets rested rested toedededededededededededededededededededededededededededededededed thed thed thed thed thed thed thed thed thed thed thed th. Brexit world that we're living in. Yeah. Yeah. So he gets arrested along with Bruis, Ron, and, oh, it's just the three of them, I get arrested. Brewis is yelling, I know my civil liberties, I'm a member of fucking amnesty. And poor Ron, just trying to have a weed room. You know, I feel very bad for them.
Starting point is 00:47:05 Oh no, Pest gets arrested too because he's wearing his Granny Magnet t-shirt. We see it at this point. His t-shirt says Granny Magnet. Oh. I didn't do that. So which is funny because he was hitting on Sam, so he's into older ladies, which is cute. And the movie ends with the crowd chanting his name while he's he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he is he is he is he is he is he is he is he is he is he yeah, Moses is arrested. And the movie ends with the crowd chanting his name while he's in like the cage sort of jail cell inside the police fan.
Starting point is 00:47:34 Yeah. Wait. That's for you, bro, if you're a legend. I thought this was a romp. It is a romp. It is, but I guess I, because I watched it in like a group of people the last time that we watched it....... that. that. that. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the, the, the, the movie, the movie, the movie, the movie, the the the the the the movie, the movie, the movie, the movie, the the movie, the movie, the movie, the movie, the movie, the movie, the movie, the movie, the movie, the movie, the movie, the movie, the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. th. th. the the the. the the the the. the the. the the. th. romp. It is, but I guess I watched it in like a group of people the last time that we watched it, and I just only remembered the like fun rompy stuff. Boy, it's heavy. There's a lot more to it. I wish you would have warned me. Feel this to your responsibility as someone
Starting point is 00:48:02 who watched it two weeks ago. Otherwise, okay. Why don't we rate this movie in the ratings phase? Is that how we're introducing it? Mm-hmm. It's very proper ratings phase. You may go first. It's a great movie. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:22 It's really, the rompy parts are fun. The creatures are dope. Oh my fun. The creatures are dope. Oh my god. The deaths are good. The kids are weird. But it makes you, it's like sort of reminds you how old you are, which you know, isn't necessarily a bad thing because these kids are also insufferable. Sure.
Starting point is 00:48:37 You're like, oh, I'm so glad to be a grown-up. And I th I I th I th I th I th I that, you know, you don't generally see in horror movies. I'm going to give it an eight and a half. Oh, nice. I think everyone should see it. Yeah. It's the first time I saw this movie, I hated it. Why?
Starting point is 00:48:55 Because I was in a much different headspace, I think, in 2011 than I am now. What was your, I mean, like what particularly? I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, the, the, thi, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. the. to. toed. toed. to. toea. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. th. thi. the. th didn't like that we were supposed to, like I got hung up on these kids being so shitty at the beginning of the movie and I was like, oh now there are heroes. I don't know about that. I had my, my old white man was like raging real hard. Just real black and white. Yeah, yeah, and now I think I just understand the world a lot better and have a better context for things, and I fucking love this movie.
Starting point is 00:49:25 I'm going to give this one a nine. I thought it was great. That's awesome. Yeah. We've done two great movies in a row. I know. Should we bring that down a notch. Let's take our average rating to a much lower place. This is a movie that I wanted to do for a little, thia, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, thi, I, thi, thi, tho, I tho, I tho, I tho, I tho, I tho, I tho, I tho, I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, thi. thi. to. to. to. to. to. toda. toda. toda. to. toda. toda. tho. tho. tho. tho. little while. I have to be honest this is the first time I really hesitated for a while before saying it was okay but we're gonna do it.
Starting point is 00:49:48 We're gonna do Beyond the Door. It's what 1974, 7475 something like that? Yeah, yeah, yeah. Do you like the Exorcist? I do. Do you like Rosemary's Baby? I love Rosemary's Baby. You want to watch a movie those two movies smash together and nowhere near as good as either of them? And potentially Italian? Didn't we learn that the director is Greek, Italian and Egyptian? We did. He's Mr. Mediterranean, we're going to call him. Yeah, they're doing Beyond the door. Yeah, we're going to do it. It's on shutter. Okay, which is free because I use your account. So we'll do that. And then the next week's episode, we still need you to vote on.
Starting point is 00:50:29 We'll leave that up for a little bit longer, huh? Sure. Yep. Yep, yep, yep, yep. Yep. Yep, yep. So, Oh, that's on our Twitter. either Urban Legend 2 or Among the Shadows the Lindsay Lohan We're Allf movie. Among the Shad-That is just a fucking shitty horror movie name generator.
Starting point is 00:50:48 It is, it is, it is. It's gonna be great. I really hope people pick that. I'm not trying to sway your vote, but like I really hope people pick that. Within the shadows, no, on top the shadows, that doesn't make sense. That's already a movie. That's that's. That's. That's. It is. That's already a movie. Yeah, dark shadows. Hmm. Among the shadows. I wish it was amongst. Me too. Because I really want to hear Lindsay Lowe and say amongst. You know, here's a thing. I'm going to watch the movie regardless. Sure. I hope we get to do it for the podcast. Maybe everything will be blue.
Starting point is 00:51:21 That's all you know he's the killer. So come back for Beyond the Door. We're to... Yeah, I don't know what I was going to say there. We're going to get back to thanking Patrians next week. It is absolutely my fault. Don't blame Alan. Don't roll your eyes at me. Don't blame anybody. I don't take like fucking blame for this because I did a bad job. He's rolling his eyes. I hate it when people roll their eyes at me. He's doing it. You can hear them. I don't think you've done a bad job. They do and that's what matters. Why don't I matter? That's a really good question because they're the ones paying us. So we'll get back to that. Coming next week beyond the door. Go to Facebook, go to Twitter. Go by T ti ti ti tee tee tee tee tee tee tee tee te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te te. te.
