With the guy holding the gun to the woman's head, and the Nazi telling him that he has to shoot her. Oh, yes. Thanks, movie. Yeah, it's brutal. All the flashbacks in this, you're just like, uh-uh. The look that she gives him is like really hard to read. She's almost smirking. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. I don't know. But that whole scene of him like getting ready to shoot her and out of the corner of your eye you see something lurching up out of the woods.

Yep. Ooh, I just got shivers. I got goosebumps. It's so good. It's so good. It's so good. Because you're already so tense about this horrifying scene. Yeah, I mean, I think, yeah. Uh-huh. It's so good at setting the scene for this movie and how this is going to move forward. And like, and then immediately jumping into like a, um, the support group. I was going to say self-help group, that's not what it is, the support group of just like obviously traumatized human beings and you're having to like piece together what the trauma is. Yeah, I was trying to figure out if they were traumatized people or whether they were just like people who'd left the community. Yeah, that's what it's, especially with Yakov, I think it's supposed to be that he was super traumatized and then we find out why. Who loses his faith and has to, yeah, oh my god, I can't with that. It's so brutal. It's so brutal. Yeah. You know, I know anti-semitism exists, but like growing up in Pittsburgh, I mean obviously I'm not Jewish, so I'm not Jewish so I'm not Jewish so I never witnessed it. I never heard people say things like and so then to like live in the city where the largest The most deadly event for an anti-Semitic event happened a couple years ago like that shook me real hard. Yeah, I just didn't know. I just I was real naive about it.

Yeah, I can yeah, growing up in Delaware of course heard that shit all the time. Really? Oh yeah, there are a lot of hate in Delaware. Sorry Delawarians. Same with like this new terrible wave of violence against Asian people. Yeah. Spoiler alert, I really like a lot of the things they do in this movie. Yeah. So he runs into a Reb. Yes, Reb Shulman. A Red Shulam, who basically like half guilt, half bribes him into acting as a show I'm her this evening, which is like very weird hours. I couldn't tell what time it was when he got there because I don't tell analog time that well and they only showed it for a second. It seemed to be he was going to be sitting midnight to five.

Midnight to five. Okay, so that's a p's going to give him 400 to sit for five hours. Which is a pretty good deal, I guess, except that it turns out that it isn't. Reb also tells him that his wife, the deceased wife, Mr. Littback, was there any lit back? Yes, Littvak. Yeah, Mrs. Littvak is a frail woman with Alzheimer's, and I kept thinking, well, who is going to be her caregiver? You're all part of this community, right? But every time he looks at the stairs, it's just like so dark that it's doing that pixelated thing on your TV screen, you know, where you're like, is there something there? I can't even tell. Was it, I was wondering if it was like Porum, which is like a Jewish festival where people like dress up in different like, it's almost like a Halloween-type thing. Oh, I don't know. And so, because the little brother was dressed like a construction worker with like a fake beard on and stuff.

That might have been what was going on but I was just trying to like figure out what what the deal was. And so it's like it's almost desensitizing and like well Nazis couldn't be my next-door neighbor because they're obviously these cartoonishly evil people. I see. But this is just like it's got almost just this like little seasoning of it. Which is exactly how I felt until you know 11 people died, in the next neighborhood over. Right, right, right. So, but it's also like, like, the, even, so you've got like the insidiousness of the

anti-semitism, the insidiousness of the Nazi bullshit, you've got the, the, and then like, you're also a dark house that you're not familiar with is creepy. You want to help this dude this this like a big city at night when you're not super familiar with it is creepy. Yeah. There's so much good like it's all atmosphere it's all setting up. So and there's also that like great stuff of like you're feeling that compassion for him because Sarah is like hey what's up in a text message and he's like, hi hi no no, no, hey, no, no, no, when you see him hit the period, you're like, no, no, don't put a period after it.

It's a bad vibe. I feel like, I still want to sign my texts. Oh my God, who are you, my uncle Bob? Every text I get from my father's his love dad. Oh, oh, it's got you like bouncing back and forth in this like emotional like trying to catch up and like help this dude through all of this like. Absolutely. Which is a really good way to do this.

Like it's really interesting. Yeah. And just like, you see him like when he's texting Sarah, she's like, he says, oh, I really shouldn't be on my phone. And she's like, OK, I'll let you go then. And he's like, ugh! You know? You just feel so deeply for him. Oh, man, that idea of like trying to do the right thing, but you definitely want to do the wrong thing, keep to this person.

So as Mr. Litvak is saying this, we can see that Mrs. Litvak is sitting in a chair, like behind him in an armchair, mouthing something. Yes. But you can't quite make out what she's mouthing.

And it totally scared me even though I knew it was going to be right there. And jump scares usually don't get me. And it's that extra special like grossness because its head is the head. So you're not seeing its face its face and its face at points and I thought, oh don't do that. Yeah, yeah. How I feel about that. But yeah, when you see the back of its head and it's just like the sutures in its skull kind of look, oh, it's so good.

There's a short story, what is it called? It's like the gas station carnival by Thomas Legatti. And then, the psychiatrist calls him back. Yeah. And then he says at some point you're going to have to go upstairs. Yeah. I love that he, and he gets another call and it's his psychiatrist. Dr. Colberg. And Dr. Colberg's voice sounds nothing like the man he's been talking to. Isn't that crazy?

Dr. Colberg is like, why didn't he notice? Because I think when he first gets on the call, he's like, oh, it's really late. You've like, you're like, you're sleeping, yeah. Or you're trying to call me down or something. Yeah, yeah, so he's like, he just, was like, okay, that's any scene he also he has been hospitalized at some point so he's in a psychiatric hospital so he's very Awry of having to go back. Yeah, so I think he's also downplaying what's going on. Yeah, he's trying to be like, I'm working on it, but. Oh my God, it's so good.

Like, how many times have you seen a character in a movie walk the wrong way down a flight, you know, like, stairs, gag is, you know, it's the exorcist, right? Right, right, right, right. But it was so scary to me. I was so scared. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It says it's such a good like, yeah, I think it is all down to that atmosphere of just like,

it just set that tone and you're running with it and it doesn't let up at all. Even the levity is still like couched in this upsettingness. Yeah, it's levity mixed with like pity almost. She says something something about how she drove her children away. Yeah. Yeah, I kept waiting for him just to like fold in on himself or something. And are we seeing more of the memory of his brother at this point as well? Yeah, it keeps like interplacing more and more of the story. Yes. Until we learn that these guys had started like pushing him and his brother around. They push him to the ground and then his brother runs away into traffic and gets hit by a car. But he didn't get up, he didn't get up to protect him, I guess. Yeah, he didn't get between the men and his brother. Ugh. Which just, how does that not eat you alive? I mean it does. Yeah, yeah.

That's, yeah, that's the movie, huh? But that's not the end of the movie because, that's a terrible thing to have happened to you. He's hugging the body. It's like, that's not your little brother. He goes upstairs. I don't know why he goes upstairs. I guess he feels he has to. Yeah, uh-huh, uh-huh. But then the body's gone while he's hugging. It just disappears in his hands. Yeah, well Mrs. Lidfac's like oh he's down the, Rubin's down the hall? Yeah. Why is he down the hall, Mrs. Lidback? So he puts on a, I figure what they're the phill and?an or something? Yes, tephilin? Tephilin? Yes, I don't know that. Yes, but you're right.

I'm going to to Philan. Yeah. Almost like it's giving him superpowers. Like it's armor. Yeah. Which is an interesting, like, you know, a loss of religious faith to defeat. the exorcist. But like I found that to be sort of novel I guess that he would come back to his faith to defeat it. Right it was it's almost like he's he's not because later in the movie. There's a person running down the street wearing

an LED blinking running vest which is actually very very smart because it's dark and that's a great thing to let cars not hit you but it is funny is how they look like a raver. Or that an alien has attached itself to their back. Yeah and they're running because they want that thing off. Wow, okay, carry on. Throughout the move, when we first meet Rev earlier, he's like, hey and maybe after you're done sitting, you can come and do morning prairgers with us. He's pushing it so hard. Yeah, and he really wants him to get back into the fold, and Yacof just keeps rejecting him.

Yeah. So to, like, it's almost that he's not, he's rejecting the culture, not the religion on some level, because he still finds the armor in that religion. He still finds like those rituals and stuff. Interesting. Is what kind of what it was saying to me. Like the fact that he like arms himself up by putting both a head and arm Teflin on.

Yeah. To do this, like, it was cool. And it was good like, almost like that like, montaging up like weapons scene. It was the rock until you drop scene from Monster Squad. What if they just drop that song in here? I mean what is actually playing is a score that reminded me a lot of Mandy with that like womp? You 100% know that Mandy by a film Mandy you came very mannalo? Yeah very mannolo.

The score is making it very stressful. And he's walking through this hallway where the walls are like getting very handsy. The walls are like stretching and grabbing at him. And I just thought, wonder what that means?

When he's going back into the house and there's like the ghost lady that's in the mirror in the bathroom or whatever, in the closet wherever she is. All I remember is the pin up girls.

Was that insidious? It was. They were just like 50s ladies, they weren't been up girls. Okay, well in my mind. I do like the shift, I made it more interesting. Yeah. Are you sure that was insidious? Yeah, yeah, yeah, that's the one. Which one is the conjuring? The conjuring is the one with, from office space and Joe lies when he cries. I ask you that every time, don't I? I'm sorry. Any two human beings have ever had together? They hate each other. They don't even hate each other. They would have to have some chemistry to one another. But yeah, like the tension is just on 11 at this point. It's so racked up. It's so racked up, but then the thing, the demon, you have to burn its true face. Yeah, yeah. And Yacov just does that. Uh-huh. It gives you the opportunity, which I like. I like this movie's simplicity like that. And he texts Sarah and says how about coffee? Yeah.
