Werewolf Ambulance: A Horror Movie Comedy Podcast - Episode 329- Planet Terror (2007)

Episode Date: April 26, 2021

In this week's episode, we're jumping into the first half of the 2007 "Grindhouse" double feature- the Robert Rodriguez entry "Planet Terror," or as it's more commonly known, "The Machine Gun Leg One...." Special topics for your consideration include: machine gun legs obvs, the concept of being a 90s human, feeling an intimate emotional connection with Robert Rodriguez, the utter gooeyness of this film and a weird amount of knowledge with regard to The Black-Eyed Peas. Want more Robert Rodriguez? You could check out Episode 87- "The Faculty" and Episode 210- "From Dusk til Dawn." More Rose McGowan? She's in Episode 44- "Scream" and Episode 298- "Jawbreaker." More Freddy Rodriguez? He's in Episode 269- "Can't Hardly Wait" and I'm sorry, I legitimately can't stop myself from talking about that movie. Starting point is 00:00:00 So, I'm debating whether to go with back in the attic again. I'm back! That's it. Or, return to the attic, to the tune of Return at the Back. The greatest song of the 90s. The greatest song of the 90s. What do you think? I was just extolling the virtues of...
Starting point is 00:00:42 Heroin Addiction Aerosmith earlier today. Oh my god. I know. You like some of this just fucking jams. It does. Toys in the attic slaps. As the kids like to say, probably not anymore. Oh God, I'm so embarrassed that we don't even know if they say it anymore.
Starting point is 00:01:00 And that we're talking about Aerosmith slaps. Do you kids think that Aerosmith slaps? Top priority of the summer, Aerosmith tickets. Does Post Malone like Aerosmith? I don't know who that is. Whoever that is? You know who that is, though. I don't know him because he also wears crocks. Oh, that's right.
Starting point is 00:01:15 He's got the attic. Yep. Yeah. Yeah. It feels good, man. It does. We got our shots. We don't even have to be outside anymore, which was hellish on our nerdy lungs. We don't even have to have a window open because it's 30 degrees outside because winter never ends. Thank you, Pittsburgh. Thank you, the terror dome in which we live.
Starting point is 00:01:42 I can't figure out which dystopia we're supposed to be. Are you in the frozen hellscape? Is that what I'm supposed to be giving you? Oh, I'm in the endless depression one. We got to meet up. Oh, oh. Oh, my God, look at you. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:02:02 What are we talking about this week? Planet Terror by Robert Rodriguez, the first film in the Grind House duology. And you chose this duology for us to do? I did. Tell me why. Because I really like Grindrador. Yeah? Uh-huh, I do. But then let's talk about it.
Starting point is 00:02:19 All right. I love Robert Rodriguez, I think. Is he a bad guy? Nothing I know of. Cool. Although he's super tight with Quentin Tarantito, so you've got to kind of be like, What do you do in there, guy? I love his aesthetic, the like, neon lights in the desert thing.
Starting point is 00:02:37 I love that. That really appeals to me. I'm racking my brain right now to think of a movie that I've seen that he's directed that I didn't like. Well, did you see any of the movies he did that were based on the fake trailers from this movie? Because I think they made those into movies. I've seen Machete. The first one of those. How was it? It was fine. Do you like Dani Trejo? I mean, thrown. thi. th th thin. Do thin. Do thin. Do thin. Do thin. Do thi. Do thi. Do thi. Do thi? Do thi. Do thi? Do thi. Do thi. Do thi? Do thi? Do the thi thi thi the thi thi the the thi thi thi thi thi thi the the the the thi the the the the the the movie the movie the movie. Do the the thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi that thi thr-a thr-s thra thra that thra. thra. thra. that that that that that thra. that that that were that were based thra thra that thra thra. like Lindsay Lohan I believe is a nun? What? Are you serious right now? Who later is in a bikini in a pool I believe if I'm remembering correctly? How have we done? 350 fucking episodes and you've not mentioned there's a movie where Lindsay Lohan plays a nun? Well she plays a nun in a
Starting point is 00:03:17 Robert Rodriguez movie so it's a loose interpretation of a nun. Now I need to go and look at the write-up for Machete. Machete. Machete. And you said you weren't you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you weren't you weren't you weren't you weren't you weren't you weren't you weren't you weren't you weren't you the you the you the you the you the you the you the you the you the you the you the you the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th th. th. th. th. th. th like like like th like thi. thi. thi. the are the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the to go and look at the write-up for Machete. Machete. And you said you weren't able to see the trailers for these. Is that correct? Right, because you had to run them separately on Amazon. There was no grindhouse double feature. Right. So there was none of the trailers were in there. And I remember I the first time I'd watched this movie. I saw it on digital versatile disc. Oh which the the the the thagagagagagagagagagag. Oh, oh, oh, oh, the the the th. Oh, th. Oh, the th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, the thi. I, the thi. I the the first the first the first the first the first thi. And I'm, the first the first the first the first the first the first the first their, their, their, their, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. I'm, th. I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, tree. I'm, tree. I'm, trilea. I'm, trilea, tr. I'm, tr. I'm. I'm. tr. I'm, tr. I'm, their, their on digital versatile disc. Oh, which had them. So I was disappointed. Oh, okay. So you have... I remember they were funny. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Like flying on a motorcycle with the things blowing up behind him and all that ridiculous shit.
Starting point is 00:03:54 Nice. I think my favorite was the, uh, Edgar Wright, don't go in the house. Don't do this, don't th don't th don't th don't th don't th don't th don't th don't th don't th don't th don't tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho' tho' tho' tho' tho' tho' tho' tho' tho' that, that that tho' tho' tho' tho' th. I'm that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that this movie. Oh, I didn't know that. I don't remember that. I should have watched them. I blew it. You're fine. It's not, if you can't do the experience of having them between the films, you're just watching them on YouTube anyway. It's like, yeah, um, she plays. I'm sorry, she's a socialite with a pension for guns and a nun with a gun. What? What does that mean? I guess she's...
Starting point is 00:04:29 A socialite nun? That is not... No. But like, it works perfectly in the world of machete. I'm sure. Because, uh, Cheech Marron is a gun-toting priest in that. Oh, I fucking love Cheech Mar. Yeah, who doesn't? Cheech Marin is a gun-toting priest in that. Oh, I fucking love Cheech Merrin. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:45 I'm the guy who made the happy 420 post. That's true. I laughed so hard when I saw that. I was like, what are these notifications? Oh boy. Papap wished everyone a happy 420. Oh my god. I'm so glad you got it right on the right day and everything. So this film, speaking of Lindsay Lohan, she's a worse fake go-go dancer, Lindsay Lohan or Rose McGowan. Rewind yourself to a little time I like to call I know who killed me. I'm gonna go with Lindsay Lohan. Is worse? Yeah. Is it because her finger fell off? Remember that? Doesn't she do something like licks the Pole or she does something like weird. She's doing it bump in her bowhole against it. Maybe that's what it was just like and holding it there or something. Yeah I'm just placing it on the on the
Starting point is 00:05:34 cold steel. Oh it's so invigorating. Rose McGowan was fine. I find Rose McGowan somewhat off-putting as an actor. Do you? Yeah. I find her quite delightful. That's interesting. Yeah. Maybe it's just in the second movie of this. Oh sure. Yeah. I don't know. But let's let's move on. Okay. Why is she? Gogo dancing and crying? Well, I don't know, it's go-go, not cry, cry. Cry. That guy's great, Skip. I like that he hooks up with teenagers at the end of this movie. Teenage twins? Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:18 I think they're like Robert Rodriguez's nieces or something. Is that so? I think so, yeah. They're definitely grinding on each other in death-proof. Yeah, just in the background. Just doing it for fun. Oh no, they were doing it for Quentin. Ugh. Ugh. So this movie starts off with Go-Go dancing, as you would expect from a movie of this caliber. They have to get their T&A quotient in as soon as possible to make sure you're paying attention. Yeah, it really is meant to hook line and sinker, yeah. And I find Rose McGowan to be an extremely beautiful human being. Just like, yeah, yeah, yeah. I do. I think it's just that, like, she's just like raw 90s energy that I really identify with. That's true. I can feel that, yeah, yeah. She's, yeah, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's just. She's just, she's just, she's just, she's just, she's just like, she's like, she's like, she's that. She's that. She's like, she's like, she's like, she's like, she's like, she's like, she's like, she's like, she's like, she's like, she's like, she's like, she's like, she's like, she's like, she's like, she's like, she's like, she's like, she's like, she's, she's, she's, she. She. She. She. She's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's, she's like, she's just just just like, she's just like, she's just like, she's just like, she's just that, she's just that, she's just that, she's just that, she's just like, she's just like, she I can feel that. Yeah, yeah, yeah. She also
Starting point is 00:07:06 has that tiny little nose. She does, just like a little button. Like a little button. Button nose. So then we move on to the military base after she quits her job by giving her boss the finger. The unnamed military base, which is two miles away? Military base. Military is that knife that the man is holding? The one for cutting off testicles. It's literally like a fish hook? Yeah for cutting off testicles. Is that what it's for? No. Why? This movie, why? Why the balls? Oh, I don't know. Just to be funny? Just to be silly, I think, because testicles are always funny? Yeah. Is th. Is thi. Is thi. Is th. Is thi. Is thi. Is thi. It the the the their their their thi. Is their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their. their. their. their. their. their their their their their their their their th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. theeeateateateateateateateateateate. theateateate. thi. thi. thi. thi. What, I don't know. Just to be funny. Just to be silly, I think, because testicles are always funny. It's very gross. Yeah. It's horrifying.
Starting point is 00:07:49 I think they're just there for which character was it that it happens to you. Scientist dude, two-fall-faced first in his collection of testicles. Oh, Abby. I just know him as the guy from Lost. Oh, I never watched that. No, you shouldn't. No, no, no. It seems like it went on a really long time. It did, and it ended super disappointingly. That's right, everybody was mad about it.
Starting point is 00:08:11 Mm-hmm. Don't watch it. What's the answer? Where were they? It was, it's like, it's like, the, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, th... th. It, th. It, th. It, th. It, th. It, thi. It, thi. It's, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, th. It to, thi. It to, thi. It th have a theory? Uh, I stopped watching it because there was, actually it's because of his character. His character died in an episode and then, I think in the next episode of the end of that episode he was put in a resurrection pool and brought back and I was like, I can't do this anymore. I'm done. There's got to be a line.
Starting point is 00:08:40 You have to draw a line somewhere. And it the the the the line. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. th. th. I. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's th. It's th. It's th. the. the. the. th. the. th. the. th. th. th. th. th. It's th. It's somewhere. It was just like, I don't know what you're building. And I think there was like seasons after that. Or it might have been like the last, second of the last season or something. But it was just like, I can't do this anymore. Yeah, yeah, that's fair. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But so I was always cutting people's balls off like you could just... Yeah, yeah, yeah. And probably like, uh... No, that wouldn't work. I was gonna say pizza cutter, but it's not, yeah, not angled properly. You'd have to be able to like flip it backwards. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:12 Mm-hmm. Yeah. Uh, were you shocked to see Bruce Willis? I was stunned to see Bruce Willis. I was stunned to see Bruce Willis. I was, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, for, I, th, for, th, th, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, th, th, th, th. I, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that, th. that, that, that, that, that, that, that, th. I was, th? No, it's actually Bruce Willis. This is a movie of like, let's make another character. Let's make another character. Oh for sure. How many characters can you get in one movie? Like when Bruce Willis shows up again I was like, fuck Bruce Willis is in this movie. It's been like 62 minutes and I totally forgotten. So in the world of like this movie this movie is all nods to other things. Sure. Sure. Sure. Sure. Sure. Sure. So so so so so so so so so so to th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, th. So, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, thi, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th. So, th. So, this. this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, this, th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. to other things. Sure. And like I was reading about it and having Bruce Willis in it was supposed to be like those movies in the 70s that would have like you know like Vincent Price in the beginning and end of a movie just so you could put his name on the marquee. So Bruce
Starting point is 00:10:01 Willis is just supposed to, because he's in there for like five minutes total. Total, yeah. And uh... He just wandered in from another movie. Yeah, it's very funny. Um, I love how in the scene when they're getting shot, everyone's like exploding with blood. It's so dope. I love how gooey this movie is. Yeah, it's sooops gooey. There's a lot of dumb lines like I got you by the balls.
Starting point is 00:10:26 Oh, that, there's, it's like, this movie's full of dad jokes. Oh my god, yeah. I think that's just the brain of Robert Rodriguez. Yeah, and they're all like weirdly placed too. Yeah, they're all absolutely misplaced actually. I think he has a really good, um, comedic timing, though. You think so? I I I I I I I I because I because I because I because I because I because I because I because I because I th. I think he has a really good comedic timing though. You think so? I do because I think like there's an absurdity to like an, Dust before dawn, or Dust tell dawn.
Starting point is 00:10:53 Dust before dawn. Dust and then dawn afterwards. Yes, there are a series of movies where Ethan Long falls a love of the vampire. I think that movie also has like corny one-liners like awkwardly placed throughout the film that kind of hit because they're so terrible. I guess so yeah. There's a couple in this where I was like when you that you got got me by the balls I was like mmm. Mmm. So Bruce Will starts bubbling, which is gross. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:11:28 And it's not addressed. He's just like postules are appearing on his face. Yeah, and then that's it. I think that's the last we see of him until the end. Yeah. Because there's like a big firefight, right? Oh, right. He does this big scorched earth thing where it's like, if... So you're not real, it's not real clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear clear that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's ched earth thing where it's like if so you're not real it's not
Starting point is 00:11:45 real clear what's going on here that Abbey has some sort of like gas yes that I actually still don't know how this disease was transmitted it was it it was the gas yeah yeah he made the gas why why did Bruce Willis release the gas because he was infected with the gas that and they were trying to cure themselves with more of the gas I the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas th th th th th th th th th. th. th. He that that thi thi that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the the the the. the. the. the. the. that that that that that that the. the. th infected with the gas and they were trying to cure themselves with more of the gas, I think. But why did it have to attack, why did they have to unleash it on a population? Oh, I know the answer to this. Yes.
Starting point is 00:12:15 Oh, got to be it. I thought that was a nod to Return of the Living Dead, when you see the gas like rising the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas the gas like rising up into the sky before they cut to the next scene. Yeah, that checks out. Thank you. They all just sort of follow him into the gas. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, like they knew that this was going to go down. Yeah. Mm-hmm. There's balls everywhere. And then it cuts to Fergie, time and place. Fergie wearing extremely low-rise jeans, my friends, it's the mid-2000s. Like, holy shit. And like that like, Native American necklace that she has on. With her boobs propped up like all the way to her chin because it's the mid-2000s and that's still a thing. Why are your boobs on your clavicle?
Starting point is 00:13:05 What have you done? Seriously, don't jump her, it's going to hit you right in the teeth. And then I was just like, oh, that's why she hasn't been in more boobies. Yeah, old Fergie. Remember Black-Ey's? I think there's still a thing? Are they? I don't know. I mean she has just vanished off the face of the earth as far as I know. I don't know where I would see her. I don't know where I see any music starlets honestly. Name one. Uh Jojo?
Starting point is 00:13:38 Jojo? The hairbow girl? Or Casey and Jojo Are you talking about Jodisi again? Wasn't Jojo a singer from back in the like the mid-2000s as well? I don't know my friend. I think you just said that It was it was in a New York Times news quiz. Oh God. The smell you smell is our march to death. We're getting closer. That's why I have a candle burning up here. I want to let all of you know that this conversation is being proceeded by the fact that, before we started recording, Alan warned me about something health-wise and said I
Starting point is 00:14:26 don't want to say this but you are approaching 40. I was, oh man I'm the worst. No, no you're, you're, no, no, no, no, you're, no, no. to get water at the bone check. She knows about cars. that's a theme in this. Gurs, the the th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, the thi thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, their, thi, thi, thi, their, their, their, their, their, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. thi. thi. th. thi. thi. thi, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the, the, the. the. the. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea, sorry, getting water at the bone check. She knows about cars. That's a theme in this, girls who know about cars. Oh God. You're just like, ooh. Meanwhile, if I meet a man who knows a lot about cars, I think you're very boring.
Starting point is 00:15:00 Or I'm, I'm like a professional in which case, good work. I appreciate someone who knows a lot about cars. I do not want to talk about cars. That's actually that's fair. Yeah, yeah. Like if my car's broken and you're like, hey, have you checked the flip of doodle? Because a flip of doodle might have flapped and you want to check that right now. I'm like, I'll tell pep boys, pep boys to boys, pep boys, pep boys, pep boys, pep boys, to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to tak to to tak, I'll to to tell tell, I'll tell, I'll to to to to to tak, I to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to tell to tell tell tell tell tell talk, I'll talk, I talk, I talk, I talk, I talk, I talk, talk, talk, ta, ta, ta, ta, ta, tell tell tell tell tell tell tell tell tell tell tell tell tell tell tell tell tell tell ta, ta look at that. Man I, this is probably more appropriate for the next movie, but I miss having an old Chevy Nova because you could open the hood
Starting point is 00:15:29 and go, oh that's broken. Yeah, weren't there just a couple pieces too? Yeah, there was like four moving parts when the hamster wheel stuffed in the center of the engine you knew something was wrong. It's not going to turn. So yeah sure her car her car keeps running out out a water, keeps overheating. Yeah, yeah. And she just grabs the radiator cap with the bare hand. I'm like, Fergi. How did she do that? Ferg, I don't know. Because I thought, oh, she's some kind of wizard.
Starting point is 00:15:56 But then she's not, she's not a wizard. No, maybe that's how she got those lumps. She's just, just the other other other other other other other other other other other other other other, the other woman in a relationship of Marley Shelton and Josh Brolin a very weird pairing What would I know Marley Shelton from? Oh God like romcoms maybe I feel like I've seen her in things, but I can't think of anything. Yeah, okay. Okay. Okay. I think I've seen her in things but I can't think of anything. Yeah, okay. Okay. Okay. Um, okay. I was reminded of how fucking not tall? Yeah, today. to to to to to to to to to to to that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. the the that. the that. that. the the that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. the the the the th. th. th. th. th. the the th. th. the th. th. the th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. th. th. I was reminded of how fucking not tall Josh Brolin is and it weirds me out every time. He seems like he should be a tall guy because of the goonies, right? Or yeah, yeah, just like the way he carries himself. He looks like a tall guy. Yeah, and then he like stands next to like a regular heighted person.
Starting point is 00:16:44 No, you're actually possibly a shortman. And it's just shocking every time. Yeah. He is, I don't know what he's doing in this movie. He seems sedated. Like, is he trying to be Clint Eastwood or something? I don't think he does either. He's hea he's he's he he's he he's he's he he he he he he he he he he he he he he thi is thi is thi is thi. thi. thi. thi. to thi. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to told. to to to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be to be told. told. told. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. tttttry. the try. try the trying trying trying trying trying to to trying to to to to to to to to does either. He's talking so slowly. So slowly.
Starting point is 00:17:08 Oh Josh Brolin. Oh, they're just introducing so many characters. And then we meet J.T. the barbecue guy. His thing is barbecue. Yeah. He runs a barbecue place. Barbecue. Played by Jeff Fahey, whose eyes I love. He's a barbecue place. Barbecue. Played by Jeff Fahey, whose eyes I love. He's a beautiful face.
Starting point is 00:17:28 Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. He's like perfectly proportioned. Yeah, very bright eyes. Yeah, his eyes are just insanely blue, like you want to swim in his eyeballs. Oh my god, do we love him? I think so. I've had a crush on him since the 80s. Yeah, where did you first see him? I'm trying to remember, he's in a ton of horror movies, but I'm just trying to remember from what, and of course that's not going to come to me.
Starting point is 00:17:50 I'm sure it's some that we've done. Yeah, I think he is, yeah, but yeah. Just beautiful eyes, goddamm it. Speaking of people who have been in other movies we've done? Uh-huh. You recognize L. Ray? That is... Hold on. Hold on. Freddie Rodriguez? Yeah. You know him from another movie we've done? What movie have we done with Freddie Rodriguez? Can't hardly wait. He's one of Mike Dexter's friends. Oh, fuck he is. Oh, he's so stupid in that. Yeah. I think he's, uh, he's actually just billed as jock. No, I did not remember him. He's a versatile mothucker.
Starting point is 00:18:31 He sure is. Mike Dexter is a role model. I don't even think that's his line. I love that movie so fucking much. Let's talk about it again. So, Rose McGowan, who left her job at the Go-Gau- So fucking much. Let's talk about it again. So Rose McGowan, who left her job at the Go Go Go, Go, Go, go. That's very funny to me.
Starting point is 00:18:58 She walks to J.T.'s bone shack. Also very funny to me. And meets up with El Ray there who calls her Palomita. Palomita. Yes. And she's like that's not my name anymore. My name is, what's her name now? Cherry darling. So good. And she's wearing his jacket because they used to be lovers. Yeah, it seemed very intense, their love. Very intense. Seems like something you just would have a hard time handling.
Starting point is 00:19:32 Yeah. That's probably better that they're not together anymore. Yeah. We learned that she's going to become a stand-up comedian. And he like very unkindly tells her she's not funny. She says there's a difference between being frank and being a dick. I feel like that's a good thing to teach somebody. Yeah. I also love that like she was being serious about being a stand-up comedian.
Starting point is 00:20:00 Yeah. Because later when she loses her leg, she says, I can't be a stand-up comedian. It's such a dumb joke and I loved it so much. But people throughout the movie keep telling her she's funny. Yeah. Like someone's like, oh, you're like, Chris Rock, only prettier, which is also very 2007. But this is after actually, after she's been in an accident where she's just had like shards of glass that she's pulling out of her leg.
Starting point is 00:20:27 Like this is a fucking horrific injury. You would cry like a baby. None of your cherry darling. She just takes it. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. She's seen worse, I'm sure.
Starting point is 00:20:39 I guess. So then we cut back to the hospital with... What kind of fucking hospital are they running? What is the vibe at that hospital? What do you mean? What are they showing that man, that patient, pictures of... I loved that so fucking much, and that's the shit that I want doctors to do but like, have you seen this weird-ass thing? Not when you also potentially have that weird ass thing. He's looking up sores on people because this guy has like an open wound that it won't, it's not bleeding but it won't heal. Oh, it's so gnarly. The effects are great. Yeah, Greg Nicotero knocked out of the fucking bark on this one. And he's. He he. He he. He he. He he. And he. And he. He he. He. He. He. He. He. He's. He's. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that. that, that's, that's, that's like, tho. tho, that's like, that's like, that's like, that, that, that. that. that, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I've too too too too too too too th this one. And he's just showing him like, like, herpes sword penises that are just completely sealed shut.
Starting point is 00:21:33 And he's like, the urine comes out of here and here and here and here. This is the herpetic dick. Years ago I saw this Gore-grind death metal band carcass. Is their name you may have heard of them? Yeah. I found my, I them them them on my my them on my them on my them on my them on my the the th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. He's just. He's just. He's just. He's just. He's just. He's just. He's just. He's just. He's just just just. He's just just just. He's just. He's just. He's just. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's just. He's just. He's just. He's just. He's just. He's just. He's just just just. He's just just just just just just just just th. He's just just th. He's just just just th. He's just just just just the th. He's just just just just th. He's just just just just th. He's just th. He. Is their name? You may have heard of them? Yeah. I found them on my Discover Weekly on Spotify. Because you like blank, you might also like carcass. Because you listen to Fountains of Wayne again. But like all their songs are like disgusting medical terminology and stuff. Oh God. And the singer just goes, this one's for the ladies. And they have like a screen behind them showing images and through the entire song it's just
Starting point is 00:22:12 disgusting dicks. Why though? And the most disturbing one was just a perfectly normal looking dick, except around the head of it, it just had a line of turquoise. And I was like, what is that? What's the one that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that was that that that that that that was that that that was that was that that that was that that that was that was that that was that was that that was that was that was just that was just that was just that was just that was just that was? that was just that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that that's that that that that that that that that tho? tho? that thooo? that that thoooooo? that's that's that that that that's that that's that's that's that's that's that's just had a line of turquoise. And I was like, what is that? What's going on? Like, that was the one that fucked me up the moon. Did you look it up? I never did.
Starting point is 00:22:30 Oh my god. All right, intrepid listeners, if you can brave it, try to find out why that dickhead was teal. Just a line like a racing. Is it, like a mold, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like a. the. the. the. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. that, that, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that. the the the the the the they have cheese in there and it turned green? Somebody find out and then tell me in the gentlest term. You just trim it off and you can still use it. I mean cheese is mold. I was talking about the dick. Yeah stick a popsicle stick in there and just... His tongue though. Why would you squeeze it, Josh Brolin? Are you actually a doctor?
Starting point is 00:23:09 He and his wife are both doctors. Yeah. And his, he needs to anesthetize, a patient, and he just gets on the phone and is like, bring me the needles. He'd already, we'd already seen him yelling at her about coffee in the morning too. So you get the impression that he's just an asshole all the time. Oh yeah, because she's, she's, she's texting with her lover and he's like. On a sidekick. Wait, what fucking year is this taken to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to this taking place? 2007? All right. And he's like turns to his son and says who she talking to? And she's like, oh I'm just talking to blah blah blah. I don't believe her, do you? No? That little kid is Robert Rodriguez's son. Oh, okay. Yeah. That explains all the dad jokes. That kid is like
Starting point is 00:24:01 perfect the age to think dad jokes are funny. I was reading about that and spoiler alert for later in the film, he didn't feel good killing anybody else's kid, so he used his own. But you know, that's also pretty dark. You can just also not kill a child. You can just also not kill a child. It's very dark. And wife. And wife. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's. It's, it's, it's very. It's, it's very that. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's that. It's that. It's that. It's the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the that. It's, that. that. that. that. that. that. that's that's very that's very th. th. that's very thi. that's very thi. that thi. that that that that thi. that's thi. that thi. thi. I don't like to push other women's faces through glass, just my own daughters. And wife.
Starting point is 00:24:28 And wife, also. And other women. And I mean, all the women. Actually, fuck them. So Marley Shelton is rolling around with a syringe holster. Did you expect it to shoot syringes? I expected it to accidentally go into her leg. Because I can't even walk around without bashing my legs on tables and desks and stuff.
Starting point is 00:24:53 Like how is she not just stabbing herself every moment? They're not capped. She's so ridiculous. What on earth kind of hospital is this? What on earth? Oh man, oh my god, I loved her character. Is there something less than a one-dimensional character? An undimensional character.
Starting point is 00:25:15 Just so flat, she's almost going the other way. Like, so flat that it had to be a choice? Yeah. And it like, it's hilarious on some level. Her affect, yeah, it's very strange. Yeah, she's just dead-eying everything. Oh my god, the abscess when it squirts into his glasses and he just kind of takes it and it's like, hmm, why would you squeeze that?
Starting point is 00:25:40 Because you're, like, you love that Dr. Pimple Plopper? I mean, it seems to be some kind of horrible thing maybe don't let it spray you I don't know there are procedures. They're face shields. I do love people picking at things though fuck I love it. You love what see I love picking at things but I don't want to watch somebody else do it. Yeah I guess that's fair I just want to see them like that moment of ecstasy when th th thcy thcy that thcy that thcy th is thcy th is th is th is th is thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi the the thi thi thi the the the the the the they're they're they're they they they they're they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to ty. to to to to thoooo. to to the the to the thi. I just want to see them like that moment of ecstasy when it pops, you know. Sure. Then we see Fergie getting eaten and she's super gooey. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Why did she fall down in the road? She's just like walking and a car goes by and she goes, ah! And that's the end of her. Yeah, and that's for the best. Do you think black-eyed peas stuffed because they saw her? And we're they're they're like. And we're like. And we're like. And we're like, they're like, th. And we're like, th. And we're like, th. And we're like, th. And we're like, th. And, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, th th th th th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee, the, the, the, the and that's for the best. Do you think Black-Eyed Pease stopped because they
Starting point is 00:26:27 saw her and were like, no, we're not doing this anymore? You fell down. You could have just stayed on your fucking feet. If Taboo was in this, he would have been on his feet. Who? Taboo? Or Will I Amp? Or Apple D-app? How do you know all of their names? I only know the one guy the famous one. Taboo, the famous one. I genuinely don't know what we're talking about anymore. Black-eyed peas. I don't know why I know the irony of black-eyed peas. I think because their names are Taboo and Apple D-app. It's hard to forget. Yeah, I have a dog named Apple. She's Apple D App all the time. Oh, God. So, so we cut to what? Cherry darling and L. Ray in his truck and he's driving like a maniac and he's like, if you
Starting point is 00:27:17 see a deer or something out here, you never swerve, you never stop and it's like, just hit it I guess. And then they immediately crash and it's like, that's what we in the business call foreshadowing. I love that they're hanging upside down and she said, you said just hit it. Yeah, I thought you said not to fucking swerve. That wasn't a deer. What was it? Uh, a zombie?
Starting point is 00:27:42 Yeah, mm-hmm. And he's got the largest sniper rifle I've ever seen in his truck with a night scope. Is that okay? To have that? This movie, and it's refusing to tell you why he is L.Rae and everyone knows him and why the sheriff won't let him have a gun? Yeah. It's like, when they're their their their their their their their their their the's like, when they're questioning him after the accident, they're basically like, the
Starting point is 00:28:10 sheriff is basically like, what did you do with that leg? And it's like, what do you think? Like, why is that the conclusion? Oh, that's right, because this is where the zombies rip her leg? Yes, they drag her out and then the next time we see her she's missing a leg. And Tom Savini's here. Tom Savini, did you get stoked? I did get stoked.
Starting point is 00:28:29 Yeah, I love the man. Who doesn't? At the end of this movie, Rob was like, oh, how was it? And I was like, oh, it was pretty good. Tom Saviniiiii got ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped ripped, the the to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the to. to to to to to to to to to I just thought I'd tell the listeners. It's how he would have wanted to go. Oh, true. When the sheriff's yelling at L. Ray and he's like, she's got a missing leg that's now missing. Who is that actor? I know him too. Uh is Michael Bean? Oh it's Michael Bean from Terminator. Yes, yes. Come back in time to fuck your friend's mom and be his dad. Well that's confusing.
Starting point is 00:29:16 Oh that's right. That's a lot of Terminator. Spoiler alert. Oh, why? So they're in the hospital. Also Josh Brolin is like chomping. He keeps a thermometer in his mouth and he keeps like chomping on it. It's so funny. It's so dumb. He keeps a thermometer in his mouth so then he can check his temperature to see, to check his mood. No, his level of calmness. It's no calm. I thought you good a fucking heart monitor. You're in a hospital. And then someone's like, if you get upset, you're gonna cheer right through it. Cut to him breaking the thermometer. I'm like, you now have mercury poisoning.
Starting point is 00:29:53 Yeah, you're now going to go mad. You have to call in a hazmat team to take have in the first place. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. The EMTs are so jocular. What is their deal? So I figured, all right, here's a deep cut reference that I think they're making. Okay. The one EMT looks like the one EMT from Halloween 2. Who is also in Last Star Fighter for Last Starfighter fans out there. I mean, he's just an actor. But I think that like it's a nod to that,
Starting point is 00:30:32 because John Carpenter is on the soundtrack to this movie. Oh, okay. Him and Alan Howorth do a song on this and he's thanked at the end of it and there's a few Carpenter homages throughout this film, but I think it's a nod to Halloween too. That's a very deep cut, the way the EMTs look. And like they're kind of like, that they're just fucking around the whole time, which those guys are also doing. Like, when they bring in Cherry Darling, the female EMT goes, she's got blah, blah, blah, and one severed limb.
Starting point is 00:31:07 And like looks almost directly into camera and you're like, why? Oh, it's so funny. It is so funny. I feel like Robert Rodriguez really gets me. Yeah, I think I really get him. Oh, look at that, the circle of life. Oh my god, yeah. But who will get me?
Starting point is 00:31:25 I guess that's up to me. I get you. No, but you get Robert Roger, yes. No, he gets me. Oh, you get him. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Circle of life. Thank you.
Starting point is 00:31:34 Thanks for getting me. I, you know, I'd say I don't of... I think it's more successfully used in death proof than it is in this. Like it's overused in this, like it's overkill at certain points. All leading up to the ultimate film fuck up that happens later on. It's pretty funny. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Is this where Fergie gets brought in and someone says it's it it it it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's thi. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's thi they's they's they's more. I they's more they's more they's more they's more they's more they's more th. I they's more th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I they's more. I they's more. I they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they's they they they they're they they're they're they're they're they're thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi. I thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. I thi. I thi. I they're, actually. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah. Um, is this where Fergie gets brought in and someone says, it's a no-brainer? Yes, that's what the, yeah, the one of the EMT says. They turn it over and her brain has been scooped clean out. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:19 The jocular at EMT says. And at this point I was like, oh, Fergie is th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th., th. That's th. That's th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi. thi, thi, thi,, oh, Fergie is this lady's sister? Not her sister. It's her lover. It's her lover. Yeah, he gets her sidekick out and compares the sidekick messages. He puts them together. Is that a thing that sidekicks too? I guess so?
Starting point is 00:32:36 I don't know. So then we see Cherry Darling waking up and amputee and it's very sad. It's a touching scene. Sure. And then for some reason she's crying like heavy cream. So here's my theory on that. Okay. She stifles vomiting and then has like white stuff coming out of her eyes? And I'm like, are they insinuating that she just puked out of her eyes? Can that happen? No, if that could happen, I would have a heavy th. th. th. th. that that that that that that that that that that that that that th. th. th. thi. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. teeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee thi thi thi thi No, if that could happen, I would have done it by now. I'm a heavy puker. Haverter, heavy puker. God, what a fucking dream boat I am. I love it. I think you're the total package.
Starting point is 00:33:14 Oh, God. So this is when, is this when shit starts going crazy at the hospital and the zombies are attacking? Yeah, because Josh Brolin confronts his wife about having been in toucest with Fergie. And then he ends up stabbing her in the palms with one of her syringes. Right. It's just very, it's a very upsetting scene. This is what I like to call hilarious domestic abuse. Yeah, it's
Starting point is 00:33:45 it's not great. It does suck. But it does lead to some very funny moments later on in the movie. Yeah, her like flobby hands are pretty funny. But she's like, he's like, what you you tried to hurt me? She's like, you're insane. He's clearly insane. Why didn't she leave him? Well, she was planning on it. Why didn't she leave him a long time ago. Pre-kid maybe? Oh, why didn't she leave him before they met?
Starting point is 00:34:16 Man, that's deep. That's heavy. Yeah. Uh. One of the zombies bites Tom Savini's finger off. And he's so mad about it. He's not, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like tha, like tha, like tha, Tom Savini's finger off. And he's so mad about it. He's not like sad about it. He's just angry.
Starting point is 00:34:28 Yeah, he lost his wedding ring. Oh, back to Rose McGowan real quick. Why did they put a metal thing where her leg? There's like a clip or something sticking out of her leg? It's like just a thing you could hang something from. It makes no sense. It's like just a it's not even a clip it's just a like a thing you could hang a something from. It makes no sense. It's just healed immediately. This is a weird hospital. Yeah so Tom Simini's finger gets bit off and then all hell breaks loose at the police station and that scene of someone like being like, oh, I found her wedding ring inside of another dude. And then the whole thing of him just holding the wedding ring forever and Tom Savini's slowly
Starting point is 00:35:15 reaching for it. And then that guy getting ripped apart by zombies. That was great. I love the effects of the gunfire and the exploding bodies and just stringy hot dogs everywhere all over the outside. I loved it. I also loved when Tom Zavini went to put the wedding ring back on and his finger was still gone and he was like, fuck!
Starting point is 00:35:35 So he chose a different finger. He's a very vulgar in this movie. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But he's, oh, he's in this movie. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. But he's, oh God, he's so lovable. Oh, love him. What was he's sex machine in the last one? Yeah. I do wish he would shovel a sidewalk.
Starting point is 00:35:53 Like, part of me wants to give him a pass because I know he's like a 74-year-old man. Sure. But you're seeing those pictures he's posted I'm solved. Also, where are all these minions of horror fans that should be out there shoveling his sidewalk for him? You know, our neighborhood has a Snow Angels program where people can sign up to shovel the snow of older folks and people who need help. Sure. So maybe someone can be Tom Savinie's snow angel. Or maybe you need to call it Snow Devi'-Devils to get Zavini's walk? I'd appreciate it. Get in touch. It's treacherous for all of us.
Starting point is 00:36:25 I think Tom Zavini's listening to this right now, like, Shut up, Katie. So yet, the hospital's going nuts with the zombie attack. The one zombie breaks open a pustule on his face and then just rubs it on Josh Brolin's face. He had that coming though. And Josh Prolin's reactions, ah! He's almost indifferent. Yeah, I like that he and the other doctor, the one who was showing the weird pictures, was like, the other doctor was like, well, what do you think we should do? And Josh Bollin goes, self-preservation comes to mind. The other doctor's like, yeah, let's get the hell out of here. Does that guy get out of there? I don't remember seeing him again. I don't know if we see him again.
Starting point is 00:37:08 We do see the doctor that had the, uh, was going to remove the zombie's arm. Because he is now being attacked with the bone saw, which I thought was great. Yes, yeah, yeah. Blood soaked curtain in the thu. Yes. That's the the th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. We see Dr. Block, the lady, Marley Shelton, trying to open her car door but her hands are all floppy. So she puts her hand through the like pool tab of the door, which is like already very upsetting to have your to be like up to your wrist in the the the their glasses their glasses their their glass their glass their glass their glass their glass their glass their their glasses their their their their their their their their their their thoes cl cloplapes to to to to to to to c. to to to tooes tooes. toe. toe. to c. to cutsh. to cutsh. to cutsh. to c. to c. to c. to c. to c. to c. to c. to c. to c. to c. And like if you're going to
Starting point is 00:38:04 to do useful feet to take off your high heels. For sure. You don't do useful feet in stilettos. Sorry, is useful feet a thing? Yeah. so like if someone needs something and we're both sitting like at a coffee table I can pick it up with my foot and hand it to them. Yeah. thin. their useful feet? Yeah. thrown. Yeah. For sure. So she gets in her car, Dr. Block, she drives home to get, what's the kid's name? May not have written it down. Tony, Tommy, Tony, Tony, yeah. To get Tony, she dismisses the babysitters, or no, the babysitter she shows up late and
Starting point is 00:39:01 they're pissed at her. They were, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, when, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, they, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, too, too, too, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to to to to to to to to to to to they. they. thi, they. thi, they. thi, they. thi, they. they. too, they. too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, the babysitter, she shows up late and they're pissed at her and they're getting, like, they're arguing with her and it's hilarious. And they were, when we come upon the babysitters, they're both on their phones, doing phone sacks? I'm unclear. Something like that. Yeah. Something that thea. thea. thele, scorpion,
Starting point is 00:39:27 and tarantula. What is that a reference to? I like think of us, is it, is the frog and the scorpion that are going across the river and the scorpion stabs the frog? Oh yeah. But that's for some reason that made me think of that. I don't know what it's a reference. Who the fuck has a pet scorpion? Scorpions are not pets. Turtle, fine. Tarantula? People have them, I wouldn't, but people do.
Starting point is 00:39:52 No one has a pet scorpion. I'm sure somebody does. The most interesting person in the world probably has one. Remember we talked with one of our patrons who has a pet thages, thian, thian, thian, th and th and thian, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, to have told, told, told, told, told, t, told, to to t, t, t, t, t, t, tha, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, t, the. the. the. the. the, the, thea, thea, thea, thea, thea, thea, thea, turtles, turtles, turtles, turtles, turtles, turtles, turtle, turtle, turtle, uh-huh. That was so fun. I think about it almost every day. It's, ah, it sounds like somebody has a pigeon in their apartment. Yeah, that's my pigeon. It's my pigeon. What? It's right here. What? I feel like you should have to state that at the beginning of a zoom call. I feel like, I feel like... I have a pigeon? Thank you Adam for bringing such joy into our lives. Genuinely I think about it all the time. So the babysitting twins are pissed because mom is late. Yeah. And then when she goes to leave in the car, they're like screaming we're gonna fucking kill you and jumping on the car and
Starting point is 00:40:39 bashing in the windshield. Why? Because they're crazy babysitter twins. They're credited as crazy babysitter twins. That's how they're credited as crazy babysitter twins. Yeah. They're wild. Oh my god, this is where we cut back to the bone shack? Yeah, I think this is where the sheriff pulls out the all-or-nothing box, which is full of guns and badges and he's like, you're all deputies now. It's like written in crayon on the box. And we also have Elray and Cherry Darling hanging out in J.T.'s room, which Elray refers to as the real bone shack. It's a round, imagine sleeping on a round water bed like by yourself most nights,
Starting point is 00:41:31 you know? I can't imagine like, I have to get up and pee in the middle of the night, and you're like, squish, squish, squish, like rolling on this oceanic bed. It's huge. It's the honeymoon sweet bed why are round beds I don't know they it doesn't seem sexier to me it just seems less practical and I find impracticality to be very unsexy heavy puker heavy farter turned on by practicality. So this is like... This is my Tinder profile.
Starting point is 00:42:13 I was going to say it reminds me of the Playboy setter folds from like the 70s or like, Turn Ons, pet peeves, in practicality. Practicalities! I guess turn-ons would not be heavy puker every part. Turn-ons, Jews who like puked. And practicality. Yeah, two things that definitely go hand in hand. So, uh...
Starting point is 00:42:40 I love this little window into you. I think it's a dark one. We might want to close it. So we think JT's hot dogs are on the outside, but when he sits up and it's actual hot dogs, which I, do you think I like that? I do. Because I really did. It's, this is a man who's been trying to perfect his barbecue sauce. And one of the ways he's doing it is drinking coffee cups filled with barbecues. Just dipping them into like a five gallon bucket of barbecue sauce and then slugging it back.
Starting point is 00:43:12 And he gets so excited because the barbecue sauce taste good and his brother, the sheriff who's also his landlord is because it's your blood that's making it taste good. Oh god damn it is! And like, you stick with Jeff Fahey for a minute and you could tell these processing, like, can I put my blood in barbecue sauce? Tell me about the sex scene that we see. Uh, there's a sex scene on the round water bed. The only thing I remember is that she has, at this point, Rose McGowan has like a broom handle for a leg.
Starting point is 00:43:49 Okay, right. And it's like sticking up in the air. Yeah, yeah, yeah. That's all I remember. Well, it's like, it's artistically shot of them like having sex in like clips, and then we get a missing reel of film. That's right. And when we cut back to the movie J T's is on fire. Yes. The sheriff is saying thank you for explaining what El Ray is and what you've done to me.
Starting point is 00:44:16 Yes. Dr. Block's father who is the sheriff, the other sheriff in town. What is his deal? And then in the second movie, are they the same character? They're the same characters, also the same characters from Kill Bill. But also, is she the sister, so Marley Shelton is the sister of the sheriff and JT. Is she? She's the daughter of the sheriff and JT. Is she? She's the daughter of the big sheriff. Yeah, but are those guys his kids?
Starting point is 00:44:50 He, in the second movie, isn't the guy? That's somebody else. That's son number, son number one. Yeah. Okay, never mind. Maybe they are. I don't know. Who fucking knows? Everyone who does know is yelling at their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, thi, their, their, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, too, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their........ thi, their. thi, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is, is thi. too. too. too. tog. togs. togs. togs. togs. together. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi to piece this together? Everyone who does know is yelling at their iPods.
Starting point is 00:45:05 Oh, I'm sure there's some Tarantino heads that are losing their minds right now. It's not for me to decide. No. I've seen the Kill Bill movies once. I don't remember much about it. I really enjoyed them. Yeah. I also just saw a Quentin Tarantino I thino had produced, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, thino, thino, thino, thino, thino, thino, thino, thino, thino, thino, thino, thino, thi, thi, thi, th-a, th-a, th-a, th-a, thors. Oh, I've never, I don't know that.
Starting point is 00:45:25 It's a Tony Jah movie, which I, Quentin Tarantino, had something to do with. And it's a martial arts movie, because as this action movie podcast from our Patreon has told me, I fucking love martial arts movies. I'm so excited for this. It's been a whole new window for me. I also also th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thoen a thoen a thoen a thi thi thi thi thi, I'm thoen a thoen, I'm thoen, I'm a thoen, I'm a thoen, I'm a thoen, I'm a tho, I'm a thoen, I'm a thoen, I've a tho, I've a tho, I've tho, I've th. I've th. I've th. I've th. I've th. I've th. th. I've th. th. th. th. thi. thi, I'm a thi. thi. I'm a thi. t. ta, I'm a to, to, toen, toen, toen, tou. toen, toen, toen, toen, toen, toen, toen, toen, toe. I also, Jim Cotta is the greatest movie ever made. Fight Me. We have to do it on the podcast because I want to talk about that movie.
Starting point is 00:45:48 I want to watch it again. I'm mad that I rented it instead of buying it, because now I have to rent it, buy it again. Anyway, it's a Quentin Tarantino martial arts Yeah, his that thing is good. I mean, the dude has phenomenal taste in films. Sure. Like, no one can argue that. Sure. There's a lot of negative things you could say about Quentin Tarantino. Tuon in next week. Because we're gonna say them. But yeah, great taste. Yeah. Well, in movies. So this is a also when they're, when they're leaving JT's, um, L. R. R. their. their. their. R. R. R. R. S. R. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. S. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. A. th. th. Yeah. A. A. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. T. T. T. T. T. T. T. T. T. T. T. T. T. T. T. T. T. T. T. T. T. T. T. T. T. S. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. also when they're when they're leaving J.T.s. El Ray tells someone to start up killdozer. Which is a reference to the film killdozer. Sure. Not to the 90s punk noise band killdozer. Maybe it is.
Starting point is 00:46:40 Just one thing about the sex scene though. I just kept thinking to myself like truly who could be horny at this point? I mean, that's the problem with all of these movies always, right? Like, when people are just randomly horny, like, am I just a lot less horny than everybody else? Where you've just never been in an apocalyptic situation, so I guess you don't know how you'd react, but truly who wants to fuck when there's people there's people there's peopleto eat you? Oh, they drive to the military base with all of the cops hanging off the killdozer, with Rose McGowan riding a motorcycle with Dr. Block, and with El Ray riding a tiny pocket motorcycle. Why did that tiny baby child have a bike that can go zero to 50 in four seconds?
Starting point is 00:47:28 He was a baby. Also, oh, he's dead. He's shot himself, the baby. Right. Because she gives him a gun and then he shoots himself. She gives him a gun. This is really fucking upsetting. When she hands him the gun, she hands it to him, so the barrel is facing him.
Starting point is 00:47:48 It's so, like, for me, obviously, I don't have a kid, so I feel like I have a different spin on it, but it's just so stupid that it was hilarious to me. But like, she gives him the gun, she's like, don't hurt yourself or something to him. Be careful where you point that. Closes the door, starts to walk away, and it goes off, and she's kind of like, ah. It's heart stopping. I hate it. But why did a tiny baby child have that bike? That is so fucking, I mean, I guess if you're going to give him a gun, what's a pocket bike? That's one of the things things that I miss about Philadelphia is kids riding around on those those, the bike....... the their, their, their, th. their, th. th. their, th. th. thi. thi. their, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. It, thi, thi, th. It, thi, thi. It, thi. It, thi. It, thi. It's, thi. It's, thi. It's, thi. It's, thi. It's, thi. It's, thi. It's, toge. It's, t toge. It's, t togs, thi. It's, thi. It's, about Philadelphia is kids riding around on those bikes. Yeah. Because you'd be sitting outside and all of a sudden you'd hear off of the distance a lawnmower coming and then it would go by your house and 50 fucking miles an hour. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:33 Yeah. Why does Rusty jump under the wheels? The dog? Oh, I don't know. Oh, it's so fucking upsetting. It's because you said that if somebody introduces a dog it has to die. But it has to die at the hands of the bad guy. It can't just die in a tragic accident. Like that is not... Wasn't it running from the zombies to you? I think they was on a vehicle. Oh that's right. Oh because he was Rusty was in the, was Rusty in the, was rusty in the the convertible? The chopp ch, was ch, was ch. th, was th, was th, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty in the chop, was rusty in the chop, was rusty in the chop, was rusty in the chop, was rusty in, was rusty in, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was c. The chop, was c. the chop, was c. Ch. Ch. Ch. Ch. Ch, was c. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. C. Was, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, in, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, was rusty, indeed. And then this scene brings back Bruce Willis and you're like, hey, you're here. What are you doing? And then they introduce Tarantino.
Starting point is 00:49:14 I don't like when he acts. Sure. Yeah. I don't like to look at him talk for some reason. Is it good you can't stop staring at that nigh invisible. Sure. Yeah. Yeah. I don't like to look at him talk for some reason. Is it because you can't stop staring at that nigh invisible soul patch that's just under his lip, the tiniest soul badge ever? I'm like, did you miss it or did you not get any more? Have you been missing it for, I don't know, 30 years now? I mean, if you want to look, you can stick with, I guess, but... It looks like Celia, like you're part of Miba. Yeah. He starts doing this routine of telling Rosemagow that she looks like Ava Gardner. Yeah. And then also just trying to fuck. Yeah, being a real super gross out dude. I do like the upside- gunshot though when she like flips the gun
Starting point is 00:50:05 over backwards and shoots him. Oh yeah yeah yeah yeah. Do you like it when his dick turns into drippy ice cream? No. I don't like when his dick turns into drippy ice cream and then he's still trying to use it. Like he's unfazed by it. And also he doesn't really have like pustules on his face or anything. It's just his dick is falling off. Yeah, until he turns to like Pizza the Hut from Space Balls. I don't know what that means, but I like that phrase a lot. Wait, have you never seen Space Balls?
Starting point is 00:50:37 No, why would I have? Mel Brooks. I don't really know a Star Wars. Will I get the jokes? I mean, yeah, they're super stupid. Okay, I'm gonna loan you the digital versatile disc. I also love Quentin Tarantino getting a big piece of wood through his eye. Oh my god, it's so good. Yeah. And again, I ask who could get a boner in this situation? A guy who's got an ice cream dick. Oh boy, he sure can't. And the piece of wood that he gets from in his eye is Rose McGowan's leg that she breaks off in his fucking eye. And I was like, that's like, that's the thing. I'm going to break my foot off in his fucking face.
Starting point is 00:51:14 The effects are so good. And just as like an act of revenge. leg out like I mean that's the thing I'm gonna break my foot off in your ass and she literally broke it off in his fucking face. Yeah brutal then she shoots him through the door and high kicks like the rest of the bad guys to death with her gun leg which she has now. Because El Ray's like I'm gonna get you a leg and gives her a gun like okay I don't know much about nothing how does she shoot that? She's got a real strong core. You think that's what it is?
Starting point is 00:51:48 Well, I don't know how she's pulling the trigger if that's what you're asking. Yes, exactly. I don't know with her mind, I think. But just to, I mean, that gun's got to be pretty heavy. Sure. Now, imagine, like, holding that, like, like, like, like, like, like, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. tho, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, tho, tho. tho, tho. tho. tho, tho, tho, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the th. th. the th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. the. the. the. the. to-s. the. the. thooo. the. the. thi. thi. thi brace your core. That scene where she's just spinning around on her butt shooting people. I also love when she's walking with the gun and she just has the like most concentration face ever with her arms raised real high. Yeah, she's straight marching.
Starting point is 00:52:16 It's so stupid. She takes to having a gun leg like that. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. Like does not matter to her. Now she has a gun leg leg thua th, yeah. Like does not matter to her. Now she has a gun leg, who cares? So Bruce Willis gives a bunch of exposition about why they wear the masks and that they were exposed to some nerve agent that turns them into pustule monsters and they were hoping to reverse it but I guess now they're just
Starting point is 00:52:41 going to do it to everybody. Senselessly. And then he turns into a big bubbly monster. Senselessly. And then kill him. And the science guy dies. Yeah. And Rose McGowan's like, are there any other biochemical engineers here? That was a very funny line.
Starting point is 00:53:02 And then meanwhile back at, I think the police station maybe, or we've left behind J.T. and the sheriff. Right. And they have this like sweet, sad bonding moment. Where they, where J.T. tells him his barbecue sauce recipe? Yeah. And he's like, you have to take it to your grave, I will. I like kind of wanted to watch a movie where they were the main heroes. Sure, sure. Just because you wanted to stare into Jeff Fahey's eyes. I just wanted to hear what they had to say. I just wanted to hear what they had to say. Also at. And I wondered if the other one does too. Do you think they got them together? They have to. Legally, right? You think right? to say identical? I have a note that says Quentin Tarrantino's death is great.
Starting point is 00:53:55 I'm glad that Robert Rodriguez kills him a lot. Yeah, that is nice. I appreciate that they're friends that make movies together. Yeah. I like that. And you can tell these two movies are just like exactly what they wanted to make. For sure. Which harms them in some ways but also brings a lot of joy in others, you know? Yes. I think especially in this film, it's just for me anyway. their isn't just for me anyway I find it. that I that that that that that that that that th. th. th. thi thi thi thi thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to ip to toe it really is and it's just like introducing a million characters that you don't really need just because
Starting point is 00:54:29 you want them in your movie for sure yeah I need this archetype in my movie yeah they use the propellers of a helicopter to kill a bunch of zombies uh huh that's amazing it's almost like a Fast and the Furious oh for a true oh did you see the trailer for the new the new the new the new the new the new the new the new the new the new the new the new the new the new the new the new the new the new the new the new the new the new the new the new the new the new to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the the the the the the the the. the the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. Furious. Oh for sure. Oh, did you see the trailer for the new Fast and the Furious? Duh. D-da-D-Dah. Uh, yeah. I didn't actually see the trailer. An EMT alerted me to it on Twitter.
Starting point is 00:54:54 And I was like, wait, fucking John Sina is in this? I lost my godsena is in this? God, damn mind. Apparently the rocks out, John Sina's in. I mean, that's the American consciousness too. John Sina's on the way up. Oh, that's true. Rocks on, he's probably not on the way up. He's up, he's still on the way up. Dave Patista also on the way up. Yeah, I guess he reallytalked about the movie. I googled that movie a bunch of times I bet. Did you like the scene where L. Ray gets on the motorcycle
Starting point is 00:55:28 and he tells Rose McGowan to get on, he's like, get on it, she hops on, he's like, not like that, turn around. The other way, yeah. So she hops on his lap, she's like, not like, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, thu. that, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to. to. to. to. to to to to to to to to to to get to get their their their their their to to to to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get to get, to get, to get, to get, to get, to get, to get, to get, to get, to get, to get, to to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to to to to to to to to too. too. too. toe. too. toe, their toe, too. their toe, to toe, toe, to to toe, to was silly. And then he dies. Yeah. I like sort of didn't really feel anything for their love and she's sort of half-heartedly crying about it which isn't helping. Yeah, but... Oh well. Did you like the Josh Poland was on the helicopter with his wife? Yeah, I did. Oh, he's the worst. He's so gross. Oh, but her dad kills him and said, I never liked that guy. That's right.
Starting point is 00:56:10 And then we cut to sometime in the future. Were there bed winds or something? Just nomads of the Texas desert, I guess, or Mexico maybe? Oh, yeah, I guess it's Mexico. Yeah, is Mexico yeah at the ocean got some horses yeah one last exploding skull yeah she had oh she has a baby now because L. Ray as he's dying says she's like he said it was gonna be at the two of us and he puts his hand on her stomach and says, it is going to be the two of you. I never miss. Or my shots are always true or something along those lines?
Starting point is 00:56:52 I mean. I guess that meant they never raw-dogged before. Exactly. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, but now it's a Gatling gun leg. Yeah, right. Because that makes sense. Of course it does. I don't want to miss that when her father killed, or yeah, when Dr. Block's father killed the other doctor block, he said that he was as useless as a pecker on a pope. And I was like, you you know that's dope and I'm stealing it. It is a very good. So what do you think of this movie? It was great I had a really fun time watching it. It's very silly. It was much longer
Starting point is 00:57:36 than I remembered it being. And I was like I watched both of them last night and started them relatively late and this one's go I watched this one second and I was like oh my god it's still going going th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's thi. It's like, thi. It's like, th. It's like, th. It's like, th. It's like, th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. I's th. I's th. I's th. I's th. I's th. I's th. I's th. I's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's thi. It's very thi. and started them relatively late and this one's go I watched this one second and I was like oh my god it's still going I want to go to bed yeah it does go did you stick around to the end of the credits what do you think you didn't no so you don't get to see that Tony is still alive and playing with his turtle his scorpion and his taranthula on the beach what? What? How did Tony live? How th thi? thi? thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi. thin, thin, thoom-s like thoom- thi. thi. thoom-s, tho-s, tho-s, tho-s, tho-s, tho-s, tho-s, tho-s, tho-s, th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th the is the, the, that that the is the is theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee to thoooooooo? tho.? How did Tony live through that? Apparently there's like multiple different cuts of the movie or like he shot it with Tony living and with Tony dying and wanted to put his son at the end of the movie so there it is. I like that he's just like no but I want and everyone's like, yeah right. Yeah, right. That's your movie. Gonna be critically panned but who cares. Oh yeah, yeah. What are you critic?
Starting point is 00:58:26 I'm gonna give this movie? I'm gonna give it a ninth. That was the first number that popped out of my head. It's joyously stupid. It is definitely that. I agree with you on a lot of it. The effects are awesome. I love so many of these actors. It's almost a little too silly for me at points. Sure. And Quentin Darintino just gives me the sciiiiiii the sci the sci the sci the sci the sci the sci the sci the sci the sci the sci thine that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that's that that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's th. th of th. th. th. th. th. I's the. I's the. I's the. I's the. I's the. I's that's that's the. I's that's that's that's almost a little too silly for me at points. And Quentin Darantino just gives me the skieves. Yeah, that's his thing, right? I think so. Yeah. Right?
Starting point is 00:58:53 If I'm not making it uncomfortable, I'm doing it wrong. That's absolutely what it is. And I don't like that. No, that's not a good one. I like it when people make you feel comfortable. Uh, seven and a half. Okay. Real fun. Yeah, for sure. Yeah. Probably will.
Starting point is 00:59:09 Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Katie. Alan. You know what else is great? What? We didn't say anything was great.
Starting point is 00:59:17 that's going to be my segue. I'm just I said great all the time. Great. Uh, here's a message from a patron. Cool. Great. This is from Brian from Pittsburgh? Hi Brian from Pittsburgh. I'm from Pittsburgh. I'm from Pittsburgh too. Me too now.

Oh, what a weird time. It's true, it's true, all those flip phones. His message from Brian, or their message is, just want to tell everyone to be cool to one another. The horror community can be an awesome welcoming and supporting place
Starting point is 00:59:56 when we allow it, and your podcast is a great example of that, yin's doing great work. Thank you, Brian. That is, that really means a lot to me. It's very sweet. Because I do feel like there's a lot of corners of the horror community that are just like off limits to people who aren't a certain kind of people. Mm-hmm. And who don't think of things a certain kind of way. And that's not cool. Yeah, yeah, fun. Yeah, why not? Nice. Oh, that's the even better. Yeah. Speaking of being nice, what are we doing next week? The other part of this movie. We're doing death-proof. Deathproof with your boyfriend and mine forever and ever. Kurt Russell. Yeah. My god, he's so ridiculous. Oh, my god. I can't wait to talk about him. We'll talk about it next week, we'll tax it in post. Uh, oh my god, it's an hour in three minutes. Oh, let's cut it off. Cut it off like
