Episode Date: May 10, 2021

In this week's episode, we decided to take a suggestion from listener/Apple Podcasts reviewer* karlyAB and watch the 2012 film "John Dies at the End." Special topics for your consideration include: dr...ugs, whether drugs enhance this film (possibly?), whether Allen is currently on drugs (he is not), the further misadventures of our 19 & 9 best friendship, having a hard time recalling plot points despite many exposures to them, and Paul Giamatti: is he a meatball, or no? *you can most likely persuade us to cover a movie of your choice with a favorable review I'M JUST SAYING. Like Don Coscarelli? We've covered "Phantasm" (Episode 67) and "Phantasm II" (Episode 314) Like Paul Giamatti? I don't know, watch the "John Adams" miniseries. It was pretty good, even if it was hard to forget sometimes that it was Paul Giamatti.  Find us online: Support us at patreon.com/werewolfambulance and get bonus episodes about action movies Buy merch for yourself or those you love at www.teepublic.com/user/werewolfambulance on Reddit at r/werewolfambulance on Facebook at facebook.com/werewolfambulance on Twitter @werebulance on Instagram @werewolfambulance. werewolfambulance@gmail.com If you liked this, please leave us a review on Apple Podcasts or wherever you listen! Starting point is 00:00:00 To quote one of my favorite philosophers. To quote one of my favorite philosophers, what? Why? Why? Is it me? Or is it Andrew W.K? It's me. I mean, genuinely what? And why? Yeah. I am not sure that I saw this movie. Like when I close my eyes and try to picture it, it's kind of just not, it's just gone. Sure, for sure. Yeah. Yeah, you may have micro-dose this movie. I think I may have.
Starting point is 00:00:49 What movie are we doing? We are doing the 2012 film John dies at the end. Spoilers, he doesn't, I don't think. He actually does pretty early on. Yeah, he dies like in the middle of act too. But then, doesn't die. Well, yeah. Or does he? I don't, no, I don't think so.
Starting point is 00:01:09 Where did you watch this movie? Where? Yeah, or how? Amazon. Okay. I watched it on Tubie because I was too lazy to get my DVD off the shelf. You owned a DVD of this film. I do. You'd see this before this before this before this before this before this before this before this before th before th before th before th before th before th before th th th th th th th film. I do. You'd see this before. Okay. You still not know if John's dead or not, huh? No, I don't think John does either. Okay. I mean isn't that the
Starting point is 00:01:31 whole thing of this film is like the idea of impermanence and like... Yeah I guess so. This was free on Amazon. Was it free on Amazon? You watched it with ads? I did. I thought I went to Amazon, it wasn't free. Oh, I don't know. Maybe Leviathan was free. Leviathan was free. Okay, a Leviathan was free, never mind. Hey, we're doing Leviathan next week. Now you can hang up. I bought this movie because I had read the book.
Starting point is 00:01:54 Okay. I bought this movie because it was written or directed by one, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the then, the, the, the, the, the, the, theateat, theat, thi, the, the, theat, thi, th. I, th. Okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay, okay. I was, okay. I was, okay. I was, okay. I was, okay. I was, okay. I was, okay. I was, okay. I was, okay. I was, okay. I was, I was, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I was, I was, I was, I was, I was, thi. I was, thi. I was, thi. I was, thi. I was, thia. I'm, thia. I'm, today, thia. I was, thia. I was, okay, okay, okay, okay, David Wong, but that was just the pen name of the actual author of the book. Okay. And B, because it was written or directed by one Don Cascarelli. I was surprised to see Don's name. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, he doesn't make a lot of movies, but when he does, he makes weird ones. He makes ones that have weird sivers I guess.
Starting point is 00:02:23 And he played the priest.. that's that's that's that's that's that's priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest priest. that. that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that that that that that that that that that that that that's. that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's thi. the priest. the priest. the priest. thi. thi. thia. thia. thia. thia. thi. that's that that that's that that thi. that thi. thi, uh-huh. And Angus Scrim is it? Was Angus Scrimmins? Yeah, he played the priest when he calls St. Demons. I literally don't remember a priest. Really? The father who, like, when he gets, when David gets stuck with the sauce, the father, he's on the phone with the priest, and all of a sudden the priest starts talking like a demon and telling him he's going to die. Oh yeah I do remember that now. Yeah that was Angus Scrim. Oh nice. Tall man. Tall man. Ah Dawn's making a movie. So how is the book? It was great. I loved it. It was not enough to read any of the sequels but I really liked the book. Fair. It was pretty much this movie. Okay. So you've read the book. the book. the book. the book. the book. the book. the book. the book. the book. the book. the book. the book. the book. the book. th. th. th. th. th. th. the book. the book. the book. the book. the book. the book. the book. th. th. thoen. the the the the the the the the thoen. thoen. thoen. thoon. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Dawn. Dawn. Dawn. Dawn. Dawn. Dawn. the the ta. Dawn. Dawn. Dawn. to. Dawn. Dawn. Dawn. to. to. to. to. to. Dawn. to. to. to. Dawn. Dawne. Dawne. Dawne. Dawne. Dawne. Dawn. Dawne.'ve read the book. Uh-huh. You've seen the movie previously? Yes.
Starting point is 00:03:05 So you're going to walk me through it. Nope. Well, that doesn't seem fair now, Alan, does it? So I, I, uh, my first thought as soon as this movie was done, I was like, oh, this is my, what's that guy, Charlie Kaufman, yeah?
Starting point is 00:03:23 This is my my my my my thah is my Yeah. This is my Charlie Kaufman movie. It's like, heady, but for dumbedums like myself. I felt like this was a little bit of like horror movie fight club where it's like, you have to like really look into it and see what they're saying. For sure. Which I'm never gonna do. But it was also like non-stop dick jokes. Yeah, which I did like, which I'm always gonna do.
Starting point is 00:03:45 That dick doorknob really got me. I rewit, like three or four times. So this is a movie about two friends, John and David, who get wrapped up in a world of supernatural, extra-dimensional spookery and stuff. Yeah, antics. Antics, for sure. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:10 It's got a little bit of a supernatural vibe to it, just a scoche. It definitely does. Uh, or maybe a phantasm 2 vibe, since that is Don Cascarrie's another movie by him. Oh, that's right. It has a funny spiritualist, Marconi. I liked him a lot. Did you recognize that actor? Uh, no. That is Clancy Brown, who, uh, he's in every man's favorite movie, Shawshank Redemption. Oh my God. Those are the truest words that have ever come out of your mouth. I thought you were going to say Days of Thunder, but okay. No, he's like, he's in a ton of movies and he is, I don't know, he's just a delightful actor.
Starting point is 00:04:56 Yeah, I really enjoyed watching him. Have you ever seen the Highlander? No. Wait, the television program? Well, it was a movie before it was a television. Okay, then no. He plays the main bad guy and that, the Kyrgyz. Okay. Who gets his head chopped off that holds it on with safety pins.
Starting point is 00:05:11 Gross. I like that. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. This is a story being told to And then I started, I got distracted for a while because I started thinking about whether or not Paul Giamati gets fewer roles now that Brent Gelman exists. Is it Brett Gelman? Brett Gelman.
Starting point is 00:05:32 Yeah, he's just Paul Giamadi, isn't he? He's like the Paul Giamotti of Dick's. Yes, exactly. I have a feeling they're not going up. I have a feeling Brett Gelman is thin is thin is thin is thin is thin is thin is thin is thin's thin's thin's thin's thin's thin's thin's thin's thin's thin's thin's thin's th, I'm a th, I'm th, I's th, I's thi, I'm a th, I's, I's, I's, I's th, I's, I's th, I's th, I's th, I's th, I's th, I's th, I th, I's th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, I thi, I thi, I thi, I'm a thi, I'm a thi, I'm a to thi, I'm a thi, I'm a thi, I'm a thi, I'm a thi, I'm a thi, I'm a thi, I'm a thi, I'm a thi, I'm a thi, I'm a thi, I thi, I'm a thi, I'm a they're not going up. I have a feeling Brett Kelman's never considered for John Adams. I mean, to be fair, I don't think Paul Giamotti should have been considered for John Adams either. Oh, I thought he did a fine job. Did he lacks gravitas for me? Oh, really? Yeah. He's a goofball. He's a little ball of gravitas. Do you really think that. Oh, I think he's a meatball of fun. I love that he executive produced this movie. Yeah, he was really invested. He had to like do it for no money too, because this movie made no money. I, it's really, it's very strange. Yeah, for sure. This is not for a mass audience. No, I don't think so. So yeah, David is telling his story to Archie, Paul Giamati's character, and in a restaurant, a Chinese food restaurant called
Starting point is 00:06:33 they China food? What? Why? And I love that whole thing of like, uh, you don't look Chinese. Because David's last name is Wong. Yeah. And he's like, no, I chose that because there's more people on earth with the last name Wong than anything else. Um, that just reminded me of Donna Chang from Seinfeld. I don't know. Donna Chang. Donna Chang is always introducing herself on the phone as Donna Chang, and then George's mom starts taking all this advice from her because she thinks, to to to to to to to to th..... th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I th. I thi, thi, thi, thi, their, thi, their, their, their their thi, their, their their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their the the the the theat theat their the last thea the last the last the last name the last name the last name the last name the last name the last the last the last the advice from her because she thinks she's Chinese and that Chinese people are wise. So she eventually meets Donna Chang and just looks at her and goes, you're not
Starting point is 00:07:08 Chinese. And it's just very funny. And also just like 90s racist. Yeah, sure. That's delightful Seinfeldian 90s racist. Yeah. Lighthearted racism, I guess. Geez. I love the opening scene of the whole history of the axe. Yeah, but then it's like, okay, if both the head and the handle have been replaced, is it even still the same axe? And I was like, oh no, it's Fight Club. Oh no, Chuck Powell Nuck is here. Thankfully not. Yeah, that's true.
Starting point is 00:07:47 But like the whole thing of like, you might be off-puted by him chopping a guy up in the opening scene to a movie, but then being like, you have a swastik a tattooed on his tongue and you're like, oh yeah, chop the guy's head off. Yeah, chop his stupid head off. I love when he showed up again. with like coming in the door. He looked great. Yeah, oh for sure. The effects are very, very, very, very, very, very good. And very funny. Very funny. When that lady turned into snakes, I loved that. Yeah, and the meat monster? It's so, that is so fun. I was like so happy when I saw that meat monster. Was it because it had a frozen turkey for a head? It had a frozen turkey for a head? It had hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot hot the outside on the outside on the o the o' on the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th th. th. tho. the the. the. the. theat theat the. the. theat the. the. the. the It had hot dogs on the outside of the freezer running around. Like this is stuff I am here for. It totally scorpioned one of them with like the get over here. It has a sausage
Starting point is 00:08:32 whip. I wonder if that's also what they call the Oscar Weiner Moble. The sausage whip. I ghostride that sausage whip. So I don't, like what are we even talking about th though though though though though though th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th tho tho tho tho tho tho th, what are we even talking about, though? Why is any of this happening? Uh, just to push a story along. Why is there a meat monster? Because... Well, the meat monster's been trying to get Marconi and thinks that these guys are Marconi. So they call Marconi and Marconi somehow over the phone blows the meat monster up... the the the the the the the the m m the m m m monster up up the m. the m. the m monster up. the m. That the m. That the m. That the the the m. That the the the the the the the the, the, the the the the the the thoome the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the the the the the the the the the the the theateateat theat theat theat theat theat theat theat theat theateate theate the the the the thinks that these guys are Marconi. So they call Marconi and Marconi somehow
Starting point is 00:09:06 over the phone blows the meat monster up. That's right. What? Yeah. He's in France, I think? Right. They just call Marconi on the phone and he takes care of it. And the whole movie we're jumping around time-wise. Right. What do you think about time travel and films in general? If it's done, right, I don't mind it. I feel like this movie, it uses it to keep you constantly off kilter. And there's like these repeated shots that happen in different times, like in waking up on the couch and getting a call from John and the first one is after the second one that we see later on in the movie so like there's all
Starting point is 00:09:51 these like confusing things of like try to remember when what happened and yeah yeah yeah yeah I feel like I just talked myself into a circle and then down to turn the train it it almost feels like they put the movie together in the order they filmed it which to say to say to say to say to say to say the to say the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th th is is the. the. the an the an thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. the the first one one one one one one one. the the the the the then down and turn the train. It almost feels like they put the movie together in the order they filmed it, which is to say, out of chronological order. For sure. Yeah, for sure. And it sort of feels like, I can't remember if that, I'm sure it telluc. I think it also feels like, thi. I can't remember if that's how that's how the I think it also works like this is a really low budget film. So I think they're able to use that to kind of spruce it up some. Sure. They're kind of like painting over the cracks a bit
Starting point is 00:10:31 by having it jumping all over the place. Yeah, it's something to like distract your attention from some other things. So as David is telling the story to Ar to Ar the story, to Ar to Ar the story, to Ar to Ar the story, the story, to to the story, thian, thi, thi, thi, so, so, somea, somea, somea, somea, somea, somea, somea, somea, so, somea, so, somea, somea, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, so, thi.. So, thi. So, like, like, thi. So, like, like, like, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi., it starts out at a like a high school party. He's like, we just graduated, you're 30, sirs. John looks insane, it looks like he's been standing in front of a high-powered fan, like his hair is bonkers. And so they're at this beer party, and we meet Robert Marley, whom I liked a lot. The fake Jamaican. Yeah, I like when Amy's just like, I gotta go, my dog just bit a Jamaican. And you look, what? I love Amy.
Starting point is 00:11:13 She's so fucking deadpan. She is like Aubrey Plaza before Aubrey Plaza. Yeah, John's band Three Armed Sally is playing. I feel like that is very similar to our mutual friends band Five Foot Arm. Because it's sort of meant to be a punchline, I think, Three Arm. Yeah, for sure. And I was like a five foot arm. That's our friends. Check them out. I think they have a tape. If you have a tape player. If you have a time machine and a tape player. They're very good, they're great.
Starting point is 00:11:51 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Made up of some former bandmates of mine. Yeah. Ah, those were the days, huh? No. Old Rock and Roll Allen. I mean I don't miss carrying my base amp anywhere. Oh God no. Like in and out of a van. It's so fucking heavy down to like rickety basement stairs, no way. Where some dudes like, oh you're carrying
Starting point is 00:12:15 that for your boyfriend. You know what I've never gotten that weird. Is that weird? It's weird. I wonder why? I wonder why. I wonder what I could be. You should have been in the maxi-pads. Anyway, beer party. We meet Robert Marley who is doing like a coin trick. Sure. Which I forget exactly what it is, but I remember thinking, oh, that's actually very good. Where he's like, you forgot to watch behind your ears because David is doubting his powers. Yeah. So he pulls a cockroach out from behind his ear, like a giant hissing cockroach. Yeah. And then he's like, that's weird. And then he tells him exactly a dream that he had the night before. Yes. And it gets very much into that like pseudo-mysicism of like you woke up right as the thunderclap was happening. Yes. And you have to wonder how did your mind know that the thunderclap was going to happen right then. Time is an ocean, not a
Starting point is 00:13:18 garden hose. Space is a puff of smoke, a wisp of cloud your mind as a flying corn snake. You're like, wait now. You had me at time as an ocean. You've got me there. Yeah. Not a garden hose. I'm out. This, I mean all of the dialogue just feels like you're stoned. Yeah, and I was. After he said that I wrote, No Wonder, the dog bit him. What's the dog's name? Oh, fuck, what is the dog's name? It's Barkley. It's Barkley. Barkley, yeah. It's a good dog. Oh, Barkley's a very good dog. Yeah. Especially when he trives the car! Barkley? Apparently was the main character in this movie all along. My understanding. Okay. Is that not your understanding?
Starting point is 00:14:06 He was the hero we all needed. Yeah. It's like when you realize that Jack Burton is not the main character and make trouble in Little China. Yeah. But he has to be, he's so charismatic. It's true. So, uh, David accidentally gets like, oked with a syringe. Right. Which this is like what I was saying about Marley Shelton in the leg holster in Planet of Terror. Like how are you
Starting point is 00:14:27 not getting stuck all of the time? He does, he gets stuck. Well, I mean the soy sauce chose him. It is called, it's called the soy sauce and it is sometimes hairy, hairy liquid that gets injected into you right and you can then have like extra sensory perception sure super senses super senses super senses super senses and then that's kind of what Doug Jones shows up to talk about yeah basically how'd you like to see in a non-make-up to Doug Jones if for a second I wasn't exactly sure if it was him yeah like who else could be so thin but yeah. His name is Roger North. Uh-huh. Mm-hmm. I don't exactly understand his role in this but. I don't either because he doesn't, I it seems
Starting point is 00:15:14 like he should be associated with the people in the other dimension that they go to, the ones that are wearing the masks. But he's not seemingly, he's just kind of like leading them there I guess he's like a guardian angel or something oh okay yeah I'll take that yeah yeah okay can we talk quickly about the the when they get called in by Miss Morris when when John gets the phone call or David gets a phone call from John at like three in the morning is like come here I need your help right now okay and they go there and Miss Morris is there she's the woman who's boyfriend has been be th th th th th th th th th th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. th. the th. the the th. th. th the the thi. thi. the the the the the the the the the th. the th. the th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the.. And they go there and Miss Morris is there. She's the woman whose boyfriend has been beating her up and they he's a ghost. Yeah. And this is right. We meet the the meat monster. She's the one who turns into the snake. Yeah. Yeah. She explodes into a bunch of snakes. John runs up the stairs and goes to grab the door knob and it turns into a real big, real floppy cock. I was like, do these people know us or what? Because that is exactly what I needed in that scene. It's so good. It's so funny.
Starting point is 00:16:10 And he's like, that door can't be open. He didn't grab the dick to see if you could turn it and open it. That's a very no-homo moment, I guess, huh? Yeah, for sure. A dick door knob is hilarious. No matter what. And I that it that it that it that it that it that it that it that it is that it is that it is that it is that it is that I that I that I that it is that I that I that I that I that I that it is that I th th th th th th th th th thi thi thi thi thi th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is. th is. th is. that is. that is that is. Because is that is that is that is that is that is that is that is that is that is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is th is thi thi thi. Because thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi that is like that is like thi that is like thi is that is thi is thi hilarious. It really is. No matter what. And I think that it was like bribb-blah-blah-blah-flop. Yeah, this is where they meet the meat creature. Right, right. And they put the cell phone into his like meat palm so he can talk, which I really like. And the meat creature lips the cell phone up to its turkey head ear. The turkey as a head head th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, the, the, the, the, the, thi, thi, thi, th, th i i's, th. th. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. It is is is, th. It is, th. It is, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. It's thi. It's thi. It's thi. It's thi. It's thi. It's thi, thi, thi, th. And the meat creature lips the cell phone up to its turkey head ear. The turkey as a head is very effective. I thought it was great. It was like practically emoting. I loved it. Yeah, for sure. That design was so much fun. I feel like that turkey monster should have been in a psycho-gore man. Yes, it felt very, very psycho-gore man. He's even like talking like a menacing creature, but saying, I do not like hunky boys, or do I, you know. Oh, and the song that Three Arm Sally is playing at the show is Camel Holocaust.
Starting point is 00:17:21 That's funny though. It is. It's just like you misheard Cannibal Holocaust. People fucking love three-arm Sally. People are into it. I'm happy for them. I always feel so awkward when people have to pretend to like a band in a movie. I know. It always never looks real because you've never played a show where anyone was that excited to see you. And that's totally how I feel. Except for one show in Youngstown, Ohio, the best show I ever played in my life, it was so much fucking fun.
Starting point is 00:17:51 The kids loved us. That happened to me once. Do you have many shows I played? Two. Hundreds. I have that experience and it's not even playing music that I wrote. It's when I was in an Iron Maiden cover band. And people went fucking ape. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:18:11 And it's the best response I've ever had playing music. Yeah. Yeah. Uh-huh. So at least you wrote the music that people went nuts for. I mean, writing is like overstating it when it comes to the maxi pads. So yes, the meat monster gets exploded. Yeah. Marconi's rolling around with these like two women with like long 2010's curled hair.
Starting point is 00:18:40 Yeah. I like them a lot. The almost twins. Almost twins, but then when you look closer you're like you're probably not even related. Yeah. It's so silly. Whose mustache gets ripped off and then butterflies around? Oh so that's after... So when we meet Doug Jones he disappears in the car when Barclay's supposed to be watching him. And when David comes back to the car, and then when David sits in the car, he turns around in Lieutenant Appleton, or Detective Lawrence Appleton is standing outside the car. He arrests David, telling him that everybody that was at a party at Robert Marley's house
Starting point is 00:19:20 is dead, except for three people. And there's a guy standing behind him while tha tha tha th. th. th. th. th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And there's a guy standing behind him while he's being interrogated that has a mustache. Okay. That when David punches that guy, his mustache rips off, flies around the room and attacks him. Got it. That reminded me of the thing from um phantasm that like the flies around the room, you know what I'm talking about? Oh when they have it in the gene jacket and they're fighting themselves? Yes. Yes. Yeah, so, so Appleton tells Dave that he and John were the only survivors? Or there was another survivor?
Starting point is 00:19:59 Justin, who we've previously seen tormenting Amy with her prosthetic hand. Right, because David never actually went to Robert Marley's. Right. Yeah. Yeah. Okay. Robert Marley.
Starting point is 00:20:15 What's his name? Robert Marley? Of course it is. That guy is. The guy who plays David is so good. He really is. He's also very deadpan and just like, you want to be friends with him. Yeah, for sure. The only thing, other thing I've seen him in is, in the guest.
Starting point is 00:20:35 Yes. He is the boyfriend of the older sister. That's the only thing I recognized him from you. He looked like he should have been on like an alum of One Tree Hill or some other CW. Yeah. Welcome to John Dyes at the end, bitch. That's the only thing I remember for the O.C. is so saying welcome to the O.C. Bitch. I remember a lot more than that from the O.C. but it's just because I'm younger than you. I don't know. My partner's watched it within the last year. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh. Oh good, good, good. I love the whole thing in a, when he's being interrogated and John dies in the other interrogation room. And when Appleton comes in to tell him that something's happened to John,
Starting point is 00:21:26 don't worry, Vinnie's doing CPR, and in the the the the the to tell him that something's happened to John, don't worry, Vinny's doing CPR and in the offseason, Vinny is a lifeguard. It's like so unhelpful. When is off-time or whatever? Yeah, it was so like, it's so silly and just like, wait, what? That's not going to make anybody feel better about anything. No, but so he does die because Vinny's not a good lifeguard. Yeah. And then somehow calls David again,
Starting point is 00:21:53 but he's not, when he's talking on his phone, he pulls the phone away from his ear and then like, holds something else up to his ear, like a banana or something. Right, because early in the movie, when John, when the the the the the the the th, when th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thin, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's thin, it's to toee toe toe toe toe toe toe toe toe toe toe thin, thin, thin, thin, the first time, he says, you're going to get eight or nine more calls for me over the next couple of years. Is he saying over years? Yeah. Oh. And so just like, you know, do what?
Starting point is 00:22:14 Do you to do? Wow. And when David calls him this time, or when John calls this time, he's like, hey, thii. tha, he, he. he. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. Is he's. Is he's th. Is he's. Is he's. Is he's. Is he. Is he. Is he. Is he. Is he. Is he. Is he. Is he. Is he. Is he. Is he. Is he. Is he. Is. Is he. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. Is. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. He. He. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like. He's like, th. He's like, th Am I dead yet? And it's just like what? That's so baffling. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But yeah, then he leaves the police station after he fights the mustache cop and which was the really great thing of, I want to use it in an RPG where he's like, no, there's actually nobody else in the room. Yes, it's so good. Yeah. So he leaves and he goes outside. He's talking on a broken cell phone.
Starting point is 00:22:47 And then John tells him to buy a Brotwerse. He holds the Brotwurst up to his ear and he can keep talking on that. But then he also can't afford to get a cab. Because he sent the money on the Broughtworth there should be a hundred dollar bill in there? No? Do you have your ATF card? There's some very funny lines in this movie. I strongly agree. So Dave escapes the police station and then he goes to Marley's house, right? Right, I think so, yes. I get so confused by my notes. Well, there's also the scene where he, I think before that, he shows Archie the cage in his car
Starting point is 00:23:36 that's empty until Argy looks out of the side of his eye at it. Right, right. And it's the monster spider thing from earlier in the movie. He's also previously sold him on, by describing a dream that he that he that he that he that he that he that he that he that he that he that he that he that he that he that he that he He's also previously sold him on by describing a dream that he had the night before. That Dave describes Arnie's dream that he's being chased by his mother and she was whipping him with knotted penises. Made of knotted penises? It's terrible. Terrible. And doesn't he say you could have guessed that dream or something like that? True. Oh, and Doug Jones has revealed that Korok is the big bad in the movie, the powerful adversary.
Starting point is 00:24:19 This is where it starts losing me, honestly. But I would also steal that like look at you have to look at something out of the corner your eye to see it sort of thing. Yeah it's almost like you have to fail your perception check. Yeah yeah yeah yeah. So yeah the Browards to the head. I like that too but he's like you could have just told me we have a a psychic link. Yeah, right. Makes him by the Broughtwurst. Oh, so then he, yeah, he goes to Robert Marley's house to investigate the crime scene. And there's like a monster living in a fish tank that shows him getting shot on the TV by Detective Appleton.
Starting point is 00:25:05 Yes. It's like all of a sudden there's a CC TV in the kitchen. Right, that's, and one of the Cs stands for creature. Creature, yeah. Creature captioned television. No, I like it. And, uh, It stands for close channel, not close caption, Alan.
Starting point is 00:25:21 I thoo. I exploded. I'm not close caption Alan. Come on! I thought it was closed circuit. Oh, it's closed circuit, you're right. I didn't even know that, yeah, tip, I exploded. So does Detective Appleton. He does later on in the movie for sure. So Detective Appleton shows up to light the house on fire because he's done with this shit. You can't do that, okay. He tells David what he saw with Justin the night
Starting point is 00:25:47 before where Justin had these like little white living things all over him. Yes. And then he didn't anymore and he was back to being the wannabe gangster that he's always been. And what are those? You know aliens or something? Okay. Okay. Yeah. That's so ex-files that part. Oh yeah. Yeah. Crawling on the skin. Yeah. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. th. the. the. th. the. th. th. th. th. th. th. th., okay. Yeah. That's so X files that part, like crawling on the skin. Yeah. Well, there's that one episode with the little green things that are living in the tree. Yes, and the Pacific Northwest. Many of the early episodes took place. A, aka Vancouver. That's what they say it. It's not how they say it. So he does get shot by Detective Appleton. but for some reason he had had a vision where he flashed to a bullet manufacturing plant, called somebody's attention.
Starting point is 00:26:34 During that split second, a fly got into a bullet that so it's, and then that's the bullet that he gets shot with, so it's done like doesn't have bullet business in it. Yeah, that's how it happens. Bullet business. We've also gotten soy sauce that hopped out of the refrigerator and a coffee can and shot out at him. Mm-hmm. Into his face. And then later he says, I fell on a drill. But he wakes up at the house is on fire and Barkley drives the car into the house to break a wall down to he could get out. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, oh Barkley, he was just driving that truck. There's a lot of very evil-deady stuff happening in this too, I feel like the effects and
Starting point is 00:27:17 the aesthetic, which I like a lot. The exiles and the evil dead are a combination. I will watch all day. Talk about the evil dead more. It'll get us on a AV club. Oh yeah, man, that was the worst write-up. Oh, sorry, it was fine. It was fine. It was fine.
Starting point is 00:27:39 These fucking assholes don't know if the evil dead's worth it anymore. And it's like, I mean, that's not what we said, don't you just want you th you to just, don't you to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the to to to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to to to the the the the the the the the the the the their. their. their. their. their. their. they. they. the the they. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. the. the. to, to, to, to, to, to, to-a. tole. tolk. to. tolk that's not what we said but that's fine don't you want to click the link first nope I am outraged no no it's fine got ears on the ears on the pod they say yeah for sure that what they say ears in the pod yeah yeah for sure that they say that what they say ears in the pod yeah yeah that thr that tho th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th is th is th is th is that that that that that that that that that tho tho tho the tho tho's the they the they tho's th is th th th th th the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they th is they th is th is that that that that that that that tho tho tho ty ty tell tell tell tell tell tell tell tell tell tell is tell tell tell tho tho tho tho tho tho th Is that what they say? John and Dave are having a conversation while Fred is with them. And they're like trying to figure out blah blah blah blah blah blah. And John's like, oh yeah, because Fred's still alive. thu's like thr-yeah. Yeah, this th th th this th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thus th th thus thus thus thus thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi this thi thi thi thi thi th. I thi thi thi thi. I thi. I thi thi. I thi thi thi thi thoooooooo. I tho- tho-y tho-y tho-y thi thi thi thi thi. I think that that like sort of unstuck in time thing in this movie works really well for John's character. Yeah, I think, yeah, because it's sort of doing a time travel thing without the time traveling character being your POV character. So you're not seeing John time traveling through someone else's eyes.
Starting point is 00:28:43 Yeah, right. This is pretty interesting. Yeah, for sure. Because for time, I feel, thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, thi, thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thuuo thuuo thuu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thi, thi, thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thiii thiii thii thi else's eyes. Right, right. It's just pretty interesting. Yeah, for sure. Because for time travel, I feel like you either have to be super, super precise about it in a movie or TV show, or you have to be like, fuck it, it does not matter. Yes. You can't, you can't middle of the row with that. I prefer the fuck it, it's th. It, it, it, it, it, it, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, th, th, I, th, th, th, I, I, th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi, thi, th. th, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, the, to, the, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, thi. to, thi. to, thi. ti. thi. the. to, the, to, the, the, t. And it's easy to slip up. You mean like the entire second back to the future movie which is just shots from the first one? Sure. Sure. And then the third back to the future movie, which is just a bad Western. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:29:11 That's a terrible movie. It's not good. That's a terrible movie. Oh man. Why did they have to make that one? I wish they could just take that one that one that one that one that one that one that one that one th th th th th th th th th th th th th at th at th at th at that that that that that the the the the the the the the the the the theateateateateateateate the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the one one one one one one one one one one one one one thooooooooooooooooooooo tho the just take that one down. Oh, it could never happen like the fourth Indiana Jones movie. No. I'm pretending it didn't happen. I never saw that. I'm just, it didn't happen. I think it's the fifth one now, are there's going to be? Yeah. Mm-hmm.
Starting point is 00:29:36 Maybe that one will be good. Ah, I don't know. Anyway, they like draw a door, which is very beetle-jucien. Another thing I love. So Justin has taken them to the old dead mall or the mall of the dead. And Justin is now possessed by these tiny white bug things and he doesn't want to be called Justin anymore. He wants to be called shitload. Because there's a shitload of them inside of him. I missed that that's why, but I like that a lot.
Starting point is 00:30:07 So he's taken Amy, Fred, John, and David and Barkley to the mall. And Amy, as we learned earlier from Justin being a dick and stealing her prosthetic hand, has a prosthetic hand and has phantom arm syndrome, her phantom limb syndrome. Yeah. She says it goes away. Right. So yeah. So she has, he's, Justin has drawn this door that only the sauce people can see, the people who have had the sauce. Yeah. So she can't see it until she gets a 3D glasses on. Yeah, why did that work? Who knows? But only she can open it and she can only open it with her phantom limb. That must be like having her hand back momentarily must be very weird and sad for her. For sure. Yeah. I don't like it. I like to when they were talking about it earlier and she says, yeah, but it goes away. And like how there was like a sort of heartbreak to that too. Yeah. Where you just accept that your limb is gone? Yeah? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the the the the the the the th. Yeah. the the the th. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. Yeah, where you just accept that your limb is gone again. Oh, that's really
Starting point is 00:31:05 sad. Yeah. Someone sets Justin on fire, but I don't recall who? That would be John because he has turned a paintball gun into a flame thrower. That's right. Yeah. And he, so he's now dead. He sends out the white things. Right. And then they end up with Fred. Right. And so they have to shoot Fred. David kills Fred. Right. I did like that set up where John mailed a box to himself in the future to be at the mall. And when he opens up the box, Justin reads the note inside of it that says go outside and get it from the trash can. And Justin's like, oh what is it? th. And he. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th thi tho. tho. th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He's now now now now now now now now now now now now now now now now now now now thi thi thi thi the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the oh, what is it? A weapon out there? He's like, uh, and he goes out there to check and that's what he kills him. I was like, that's brilliant. That is very funny. Yeah. So yeah, they go into an alternate dimension, thanks to Doug Jones again. Yep. Truly what is happening at this point? So, to make them more comfortable in the alternate dimension, everyone is wearing creepy- masks. Yeah. All the women are topless. Yep. And they have a church-like thing set up, building set up with paintings of John and David in it.
Starting point is 00:32:15 And David is talking on the Broadwurst in his painting. Why? Why? I don't know because it was prophesied that they would be coming. I guess so. Because Korok, yeah, eats people basically to absorb their knowledge. Which happens again in next week's movie which I found to be very weird and fucked up. By the way, it's Leviathan if you want to hang up. And that is streaming on Amazon Prime. For free. For freezies. Just like this movie's on Tubie for free. With a lot of commercials. Some money on this. Yeah, all the women and masks and no tops is very strange. Yeah, yeah, yeah. But I was like, hey, boobs, who doesn't love boobs? Hey, boobs. Boops to the boobs. If you're going to keep showing the weird dicks for Dornadobs, boops are great. You're right, there's so many more dicks in movies than boobs.
Starting point is 00:33:11 It's like, how could they be so overloaded? I just gave Alan the meanest look I could muster. It wasn't that mean, but I appreciate it. I turned my head really far to the side. Um, so a bunch of shit happens. None of my next, I just read through my last like 12 notes. Not a single one of them rings a bell with me. Okay, well, shoot, let's see what happens. Ridiculous gruesome cartoons. So this is, so the guy who's leading the parade that meets them tells them the story of how up to a certain point, this alternate universe and our universe were running on the same timeline.
Starting point is 00:33:56 And then in our universe, this one dude died when he was 17, but in their universe he kept on living. He was a great inventor, he made like these meat computers. And that's what Korok was born out of. And then it shows the scene of like these spider monsters attacking people. Yeah. So rather than actually film the scene, they just shot it as a cartoon. Got it. So that's the extremely gruesome cartoon if you were being ripped apart by spiders. So many hot dogs on the outside. Yeah. Yeah. Probably refers to that. Yes. My next. And that. And that that that that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's what that's what that's what that's what that's what's what's what's what's what's what's what's what's what's what's what's what's what's what's what's what's what's what's what's what's what's what's what that's what that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's what that's what that's what that's what's what's what that's what that's what the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the tho. that's what the the that's the that's the that's that's that's that's the extremely gruesome cartoon if you were being ripped apart by spiders. So many hot dogs on the outside. Yeah, probably refers to that. Okay. My next note says, your wiener is much smaller in person. That's what happens when David and John meet Korok.
Starting point is 00:34:35 Korok says, ha! Your wiener is much smaller in person. I see. It's a dick joke. Then I wrote, make you a child molester? Yeah, I could switch one like chromosome, something in your brain and turn you into a child molester. Korok, you're a dick, that makes sense to me.
Starting point is 00:34:52 And oh, poor Barkley. Barclay sacrifices himself by reactivating the bomb and diving into Korok. It was his destiny, we were to understand. He had been, basically it seemed like David and John were there there just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just just. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to th. th. to th. to to th. th. th. th. th. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. It's. to. th. to. th. th. th. th. to. th. to. to. to. to. th. to. to. to. to. to. th. to. that. th. th. th. th. th. th. It's a th. It's a ok. It was his destiny, where to understand. He had been, basically it seemed like David and John were there just to guide Barkley to Korok. Right. Right. Right. So then there's a sort of odd scene where David realizes that Arnie is not what he really looks like. Right. Because Arne tells a story where someone calls him the N-word. And that's like, why would they call you the N-word, you're Paul Giamotti.
Starting point is 00:35:33 But it turns out that Arnie's dead? Yeah. Explain that little bits to me. I don't know that I can. Okay. I don't know why that's happened. Who killed Arnie? Yes. But somehow his consciousness is now in Paul Giamotti's body. That part made sense to me because it was like what David had imagined him looking like after they talked on the phone. Right. So Artie was killed by the people that are like sent from Korok to oppose David and John. And so, so, that, thoub that that that I can't tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho that I that that that that I that I that I that I that thi thi that I that I that I that I that I that I that that that that that that that th. I thi. to thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. people that are sent from Korok to oppose David and John.
Starting point is 00:36:09 And so when Artie was talking to David on the phone, David pictured what he looked like and he pictured Paul Giomani. Sure. I love how from be Paul Giamody is in this role. Yeah, I mean... I may have set you up for that one. My last note just says, is this a phantasm reference which is probably the sphere? Oh sure, the one that they have to hop through. So they're playing basketball and they see a sphere and they just they just decide to go into it I guess. Yeah, because they've seen these spheres before and had and travel to like extra planess. B b b b b planes. B b b b b b b b b. basketball their their their their their tha their thunath. thunath. thoed th. I thoed th. I th. I thoen. I th. I th. I th. I they're the the. I'm theat. I they're they're they're the. I the. I the. I the. I the. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I their. I their. I their. I their. I their. Yeah, because they've seen these spheres before and travel to like extra planes. Because now they're like the supernatural brothers. Right. Just going around like mercenaries, I guess?
Starting point is 00:36:52 Solving problems for people. Solving problems for people. They end up in some sort of like post-apocalyptic world where a baby. Where a baby Christopher Reeve is talking to them. Part of the human liberation army? He's all excited about how they're the chosen ones and they've been awaiting their arrival and this is going to be what saves them. And they're just like, fuck you and leave. Leave! Why?
Starting point is 00:37:17 I thought they were super natural guys. Because they're still like dicky early 20-something. Dean and Sam would never. Would never. No. No. They would not. There's also the earlier in the movie where Appleton's eyes explode and the car flips and all that shit happens. And I don't remember when that happens.
Starting point is 00:37:36 That happens after they get liberated from the mall. He's outside. Yeah. The whole thing feels like a fever dream to me. I swear to you, I watched it, I know that I did. But I just, it is a, it is a, like I was planning on talking about today. I read through my notes I was like, I have no idea what any of this means. So I read the Wikipedia page and I was like, nope, still nothing. So you read the book and now you're still like nope I don't the book the book the book the book the book. the book I the book I the book I thapapap I the book I th. th. th. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi thi thi thi thi. It's thi. It's thi. th. th. th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It is th. It is th. It is th. It is th. It is th. It is th. It is th. It is th. It is th. It is th. It is th. It is th. It is th. It's th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. I the. I, if I read the book, you mean the Wikipedia page, which is how I read all books. I was watching the Great Pottery Throwdown, because yes, I'm 87 years old. Yeah, I noticed that when I came into your house that it was on your TV. I could just like look through the window and I saw that you had paused, something called the Great Pottery Throwdown, and I was like, here we go.
Starting point is 00:38:26 It's like the Great British Pickoff for Pottery. Not everything needs to be competitive. Sometimes we can just make things. Apparently I just love competition shows with fire involved. The Great British Bake off, forged in fire. That's a knife one? Yeah, blown away, the glass blowing one that I've watched two seasons. Oh, Netflix is always trying to push that on me, and I just feel like, is it because you know I like bongs?
Starting point is 00:38:52 Is it because they know I like bongs? Is it because they know I like bongs? I think it's because breaks all the time. Yeah, I can't deal with that. And then Great Pottery Throwdown. But there was a kid in the Great Pottery Throwdown, they were doing an Allison Wonderland thing. And he's like, yeah, I've seen all the movies. I've never read the book. I'm a millennial.
Starting point is 00:39:14 Ha today. And I was like, I like it when people make fun of the things, other people make the fun of them for not doing. Right, absolutely. Yeah, yeah. So speaking of making fun of things. Speaking of millennials. Oh, yeah. I don't know. They probably like this movie. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:39:34 Uh, Katie. Alan. Do you want to move me all your thoughts on Dundatath at the end. Well, I did tell you a lot of them, but I'll tell you some more. I, um, I know I enjoyed it. Okay. I loved the effects. I loved the meat monster and the lady who was made of snakes and the eyeballs blowing out of the head.
Starting point is 00:39:56 I like the time into it because I'm just really lazy. I'll probably watch it again someday. Maybe I'll put more of it together. But I have a hard time giving this a rating. Oh wow. Yeah. I'm going to give it a... One Brett Gilman. A little Giamon. A little Giamonie.
Starting point is 00:40:25 A little Giamon, yeah. You? I like this because I think it has all of those like fight club Charlie Kaufman set-ups of like, oh if you dig deeper into this, but I think it really is just visceral. Yeah, yeah, that's the feeling. It's like if you dug in, you're not going to get any else. Yeah, you're just going to get to the center of a Tutsi Pop, but that's going to be the end of it. And you're going to be disappointed because the Tutsi Roll part is so much worse than
Starting point is 00:40:49 the lollipop. Yeah, who likes tuttsy rolls? the bubble gum in the middle? Fuck that. I've just been working on this for this long and you want me to keep going? And it's the worst bubble. It's like worse than a baseball card bubble. Yeah, or double bubble. Oh man, or yip stripes, fruit strip gum? The yummy fruity one, lick a stripe of fun. That's stuff, somehow it never tasted, but all your poop would be like rainbow colored. Also I swallow gum, that's why I can't chew it anymore.
Starting point is 00:41:25 What were you saying? Come back. Come back. Come back. Put your glasses on. I love you too. So I appreciate the fact that it's like, just sort of like this face-value, pseudo-intellectual bullshit of a movie that's just dick jokes wrapped up in pseudo-intellectualism. I'm going to give it a seven, because I think it's not a great movie. Oh no. No. I feel like Don Coscarelli's heyday is sort of behind him. Yeah. But I really
Starting point is 00:42:08 enjoy this film. It's fun. It's a seven. Did he write it? I don't. Oh no, he was probably the Screa. He may have adapted it, but yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, Don. He did do a movie a few, 20 years ago called Bubba Hotep. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, wow. That's a really fun movie too. He's a th. He. He. He. He. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. He th. I I I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I really th. I really really th. I really really th. I really really really th. I really th. I really th. I really really really really th. Yeah. Yeah. He th. He th. He realize that was a Don Coscaro. Yeah, yeah. Oh wow. Yeah, that's a really fun movie. He's really had some success. He has. And by success you mean movies we've seen that nobody else has seen like Boba Hoetep. Um, is Reggie Bannister in it? He's not. Bummer. Why wasn't he in this movie? I don't know. He would have fit right the fuck in. I in. tho in th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to th. to to th. th. th. to be th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. to be thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. thi. th. He thi. He thi. He's really toge. He's really toge. He's really toge. He's really toge. He's really the. He's really the. He's really the. He's really the. He would have fit right the fuck in. He should have just showed up at one point, maybe like playing a song and then be gone again. I feel like he could have even been the Doug Jones character. You don't even need him to be thin. I do remember when this came out that Doug Jones was real pumped to do something not in makeup.
Starting point is 00:42:57 Oh good for him. I mean, I mean, the makeup is his bread and butter. Sure. You know, if you need a guy that's going to dress up like a fish and have sex with a woman, Doug Jones is your man. Get him on the horn. I didn't like that movie. Anyway, that's a real movie? Yeah, that a shape of water? Oh, God. He dresses up like a fish and fucks a woman? No, he's a fishman. Yeah, yeah, yeah. You know, I thought next week's movie was going to be about fishmen. Kind of was. Is it? I know. Oh, boy. Katie, speaking of radical people. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:43:33 Like, fucking a woman while being a fishman. I'm sorry, I am not over this. Have you not seen Guillomo Dottoros the shape of water? I have not. Yeah. I guess not. Yeah. Fishmen have dicks? I guess so. It's a man part I guess. Yeah. Yeah, it's a it's this beautiful love story, like love letter to creature from the Black Lagoon where they hook up rather than it being the creepy thing of creature
Starting point is 00:43:59 for the Black Lagoon. Is it loving? Oh yeah, first one. Oh, that's nice then. Fuck a fish if it's loving and consensual. Every tel you live about the shirt that I stole from my dad that said the happy fisherman across the top of it and it was a guy standing waist deep in water getting a blowjob from a fish. Oh my god! I can't believe your dad let that one go. That gem leave the wardrobe. Seriously, you know one day he's like, where is my fish blowjob shirt? Alan!
Starting point is 00:44:32 Why would you purchase that shirt? Why would you steal that shirt? Because I was like 19 and I thought it was funny. It is very funny. It's still very funny. I'm 37. Oh man, the guy's funny. It is very funny. It's still very funny. I'm 37. Oh man, the guy's getting his dick's up by fish. That's pretty cool. No, that's funny. I'm still on the side of that being funny. You just can't look down on something
Starting point is 00:44:56 you stole. That's what I'm saying. Oh, that's not true. I have shoplifted plenty of things that I regret later on. All right. moving not long before the police thumb. What's set your limitations on that? I'm stealing zero bars from 7-Eleven. What if your dad called the cops on you for stealing that shirt? What if you, they showed up here right now? He, my dad's listening to this right now. It would be the first time you ever listened to me. Live. Oh my God! Boom!
Starting point is 00:45:25 So, so fish can fuck... Seven. Give me some more radical people. This is from Marie. Hi Marie. Marie says to everybody listening right now, if no one has told you today, you are killing it and I'm proud of you for all of your hard work. Hell yes, Marie, that is awesome. And for Katie, to to to to to to th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi tha' tha' tha'e thi, thi, thoome thoome thoome, the, th. th. the, thi, thi, thoes thoes thoes thoes. thoes. the. the, the, the, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. hard work. Hell yes Marie that is awesome. And for Katie and Alan you all make me wish we were besties
Starting point is 00:45:48 in real life. Thanks for this show. We can be we've got space. Yeah come on over everyone. We got plenty of tears up here. Where is the shirt now? I don't know. Katie, I was 19 almost 30 years ago. I have no idea where that you were seven the last time I saw that shirt. I was nine. I was nine. This is our nine and 19 year old best friends. Oh, that was in the striking distance episode. People don't know about that one, huh? We weren't really best friends when I was 19, she was nine. What if we were though? What a fun, fun outing we would have. You would still be the more mature one of the two of us. Paying the bills. Oh, wait. Are we living in a situation? Oh, I assumed we were roommates. I don't know why. I love this.
Starting point is 00:46:47 Somebody write this. Oh, what are we doing next week? Leviathan, I told them. It was Alan's pick. Holy shit, this movie. I saw some of those like, hey, this is a great movie from the 80s. I was like, I never seen that movie. A listener told you this? Oh, no, I just saw it's a word on the internet's.
