Werewolf Ambulance: A Horror Movie Comedy Podcast - Episode 339- Return of "Return of the Living Dead" (1985)

Episode Date: July 5, 2021

In this week's very special episode, we are returning to a film we covered early in our podcasting career- the 1985 horror comedy "Return of the Living Dead." Special topics for your consideration inc...lude: revisiting old jokes and writing better new jokes, the national treasure that is Linnea Quigley, the national weirdo that is Glenn Danzig, extremely bleak things in an extremely comedic film, the return of Clu Gulager and movie punks, of course we're talking about movie punks.  If you missed our original "Return of the Living Dead" episode, it sounds like it's not worth revisiting. If you must, it's Episode 17. Want more Linnea Quigley? You could check out Episode 9- "Silent Night, Deadly Night" (which we feel may actually be our worst episode ever), Episodes 192- "Night of the Demon" and Episode 265- "Sorority Babes in the Slimeball Bowl-O-Rama."  Thanks to everyone who wrote in with their impressions of this film, we really loved reading all of your thoughts.  Find us online: Support us at patreon.com/werewolfambulance and get bonus episodes about action movies-- we just released our episode for "Total Recall" and it is a blast.  Buy merch for yourself or those you love at www.teepublic.com/user/werewolfambulance on Reddit at r/werewolfambulance on Facebook at facebook.com/werewolfambulance on Twitter @werebulance on Instagram @werewolfambulance. werewolfambulance@gmail.com If you liked this, please leave us a review on Apple Podcasts or wherever you listen! Starting point is 00:00:00 Katie, Alan. Can I have a news noise please? Buhhbubbah, baa, baa, baa, baa, breaking news. Babbah, baa, baa, baa, baa, baa, baa, baa, baba. Savini watch, 2021! Where? I on that pool? Katie? Savini was spotted in the prepared foods aisle at Whole Foods. By you? By me.
Starting point is 00:00:31 What was he getting? I don't know. I just saw him from behind. And just kept on walking. Did he say hi back? No, I didn't say it. I always say hi to him. Why not? The man deserves a hello. I have this thing about not bothering
Starting point is 00:00:47 people when they're in Whole Foods and they're famous. Like I saw one of the guys. He's not that famous. In Pittsburgh. In Pittsburgh he's not that famous. It's true. I once I'm at the pool and then later that night at Feng. You're getting dangerously close to a stalking situation. Man, sometimes you go to the pool and then you go to Feng, it's nobody's business. I miss Feng though. You two were just on the same schedule. Yeah. Well, Feng is gone. Thing is like a cobra lounge now, which is a bar which is a bar that serves very
Starting point is 00:01:14 expensive cocktails I think, but also still doesn't have windows, al-Fang-o-fang. It's not a strip club, though. Fang was a hibachi bar. Okay. Once I ordered a beer there that came in a bottle and when I got at the top of the bottle was just broken off. Fuck yeah, Fang. Did you drink it? Yeah. I ordered it, didn't I? I didn't even send it back. That's the kind of person I am. When you would get a hibachie there they there, there, there, there, there, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. th. tho, tho, tho, tho, tho. tho. thoooo. thooooooo. thooooooo. thooooo. thooo. It was. It and then they also had a spray bottle of vodka that he would just go around every around the table
Starting point is 00:01:46 and spraying everyone's mouths what you would just leave their utterly wasted in Feng there is no law there was it was lawlessness in Fang it was like too good to last I mean Feng I mean Feng does sound like a villain in something yes absolutely oh what are we here to talk about oh but but what are we here to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their they. they. they. tap. tap. We are here to talk about, for the first time ever, a movie we've already discussed. We're talking about the God damn living dead. Before we started recording, Alan showed me his notes on his notes app, and I could see
Starting point is 00:02:26 that it was blank. Actually, I could see there's one little thing written there, which I'm hoping you're going to read at some point. I did, it was the Mini Watch, I want to remember when I said so many. Okay, good. My first note just reminded me to listen to our return the to' to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to the return return return return return return return return return return return return return return return return return return return return return, to our return, to to to to to to listen, to listen, to listen, to listen do that. Okay. I did listen to it. Okay. And I'm amazed that you kept doing this podcast with me. Why? Were you mad at me? you were mad at me? No, I wasn't. I was just like, this nerd. God damn. It was
Starting point is 00:02:54 early days. It was like episode 17. Is that how early we did? Yeah? Oh, then I have way. the way lots of excuses. then. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. And did you see this guy? He did this thing and this thing? Honestly, I think we should delete everything before. Episode 300? Yeah. No, like 20. I don't even know about that. I think we should re-record all of them. I think we should too. I would love to do alo-karta again because I'd have a different feeling about that. For sure sure I th th th th th th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I'd like th. I'd like th. I'd like thi. I'd like thi th. I'd like th. I'd like th. I'd like th. I'd like th. Maybe we could do some bonus redux episodes. For sure, I would do that. Yeah. Where I admit that I'm wrong about everything all the time. So in lieu of notes I did put out a request on our social needs for EMTs to get in touch and let us know their thoughts so I'll be reading select things from people's entries. I bet they're all like overwhelmingly glowingly positive.
Starting point is 00:03:48 No, not all of them. Really? There was one, let me see if I could find it. Let's see if I can find it, I will sing until I find it. The harmonize, harmonize. I'm sure to harmonize. Love it, but not as much as Alan. That's the negative one? That's from D-Night-75.
Starting point is 00:04:08 Hi, D-Night-75. I'm surprised that that's what Alan took as negative. I'm sorry, D-Night-Sycep-5, also known as Chalupa Batman. Chalupa Batman. Yeah, tell me more. Well, that took you and you were like hmm. Oh shit Cholupa Batman. I just really needed to like turn that one around in my head a couple times. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So I'll be peppering in those throughout the episode. I love it. Look out for your names. This very much feels like a very special episode of you know. It's like when you turned on Roseanne and it was a halau-a-a yes! I always think of a very special episodes as like, child star in TV shows best friend dies.
Starting point is 00:04:50 Oh yeah, or like is getting beaten by their parents and then do a PSA at the end about not getting beaten by your parents. Which it turns out you have like no control over. Hey kids, fight back. Yeah. Thanks for the eyes and groin. Wow, you're just teaching about a monkey fight, that's awesome. I'm sorry, if you're being attacked, go for the notes.
Starting point is 00:05:13 Oh yeah. Go for the nards. For sure. And the eyes. And rip their face off with your teeth. Yeah. All documented, all true with this film. Now that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I that I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. thi. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. thi. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. thoome. thoome. thoome. thoome. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. tho. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. tooooooooo. the. tue, this film. Now that I know that phrase, anytime something says it's a true story, all I can hear is, I'll document it, all true. Fuck you, Glenn Danzig. Stupid, what a stupid man, I love him.
Starting point is 00:05:34 The other day, I was just thinking about dancing. You know, like you do. And I was just that, God, leave that girl's poor parents alone. And I I thought, I'm going to tweet that. And then I couldn't decide whether to tweat it from my personal account or the Whirlfambulance account, so I just didn't do it at all. Are you talking about the mother and father? Yeah, just fucking her parents. Like, it's enough your parents and your boyfriend says, you want to find hell with me? I'm looking forward to that being my future. He does have a bitch and Camaro, so I guess that's why I'm sticking with him.
Starting point is 00:06:16 Bitch in Camaro. Anyway, this is all documented all true. I love that they go really hard at that too. It's like, all names are real names, all companies are real companies. Nothing has been changed to protect anyone. I did watch a Talking Head documentary about this. So if you want me to also pepper in dumb facts that I got from that, I can do that as well. I love that. That feels like pop up video to me, which is a thing that I got from that. I can do that as well. I love that. That feels like pop-up video to me, which is a thing that I deeply love. Sure. Yeah. So where does this film start out, Katie?
Starting point is 00:06:51 At Unita Medical Supply in Louisville, Kentucky, which I'm sure I made this joke in the first episode, but lo-wo-wo. I don't know if we did make Louisville jokes or not. No marble now, I mentioned that. I don't know if we made Louisville jokes or not. No, Marble Malden. Well, I'm going to do it now. Well, lull. Guys, just say it right. I don't know. We live in a town called Picksburg by most people that live here. Yeah, that's fair. movie. I didn't acknowledge the sort of genius of pretending like Night of the
Starting point is 00:07:25 Living Dead was a real event. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, I love that. You actually did. Did I did? Did I? Did I tell that the VA hospital in Pittsburgh. Now I'm worried I told that story before. Is it what I have here? Did I? Did I? Did I talk about it? Did I? Did I? Did I? thin, I thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. Yeah. Yeah. I. I. I. Yeah. I. I. I. I. I. I. Yeah. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. tod. toda. today. today. I. I. I. I. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I Not that I remember. Yeah, well I did. It's a really short, it's like a 35-minute long episode. It's really short. Good for us. Yeah. In and out, not this long-winded shit we're doing now. Just self-indulgent nonsense. I do have to say, like, I was like, oh man, where's our slice of life prerogatives in here? Where's our little like... Were we playing it straight, like like th like th like th like th like th like th like th like th like th like th like the movie th like movie th like movie th like movie th like movie th like movie the movie th. Like movie th. Like movie th. Like th. Like th. Like th. th. th. th. th. thi thi? thi? th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. to. to. thi. to. to. to. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th, pretty much. Oh man. When did we devolve into this? Just two Fred's going, what's up? How you doing? Or just like for me, like joycy and levels of stream of consciousness. Nary, a period to be found.
Starting point is 00:08:21 Coma after comma. I did not notice that that guy calls himself Uncle Frank, which is weird because Freddie's not his nephew. No. If you're an adult man and another man who's not your uncle refers to you as his uncle, you might want to leave. He's probably a murderer. Or something worse. But I love clue. Oh, I found the proper pronunciation, Clue Gulliger, not Goulager.
Starting point is 00:08:49 Okay, okay, Clue. But the whole like, he's like, he's taking it, Bert, is taking you off for the day and he's like, whatever happens, don't name it after me. Yeah. You like that? I do. It's a very stupid thing to say. Such a dumb boss thing to say. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:09:10 Yeah. We were watching this, Missy was like, oh, Frank, seems like a really good boss. Yeah, it seems like a nice guy, albeit incredibly stupid, yeah. And really wanting Freddie to as stupid hot at the previous episode. Man, I am fucking predictable. No, you just locked in on him being stupid hot. He is stupid hot though. And I don't mean like stupid hot, I mean like, actually very stupid and also hot.
Starting point is 00:09:48 I like death. My girl, Linnea. You're a girl, Linnea. Let's be real. Yeah, yeah, I don't think you can claim Lanai. I don't want to, actually. She's so fucking good in this movie. Oh, man. So I heard the, in that documentary I watched, she told the story about getting
Starting point is 00:10:07 the prosthesis that's covering her vagin. Mm-hmm. The world's weirdest vulva. So apparently like they shot it initially and she was just naked. And one of the producers shows up was like, she can't just be naked. You have to shave her. We can't see pubic hair. Was that something with like the MPAA? I don't know. Okay. So they shaved her and then reshot it.
Starting point is 00:10:33 Because that's worse. And the guy came back and said, Oh, no, that's worse. Now you can see everything. That's what pubic hair is is is th they made her go to the props department in her underpants the props department dumped alginate into her underpants to make a mold of her downtown zone and then her memory foam underpants I presume. And then just smoothed out. Wow. And what's it hanging on by? Is it a full pair of undies?
Starting point is 00:11:07 No, it's not. It's not. How is it hanging on there? I think it's molded to her. But I mean, that's still going to fall out if you're dancing. No, I don't know. Maybe. They probably, like, I guess it's like getting wax, yeah. But like as everyone is now currently aware, way more disturbing.
Starting point is 00:11:30 Because seeing a woman naked, not disturbing. No, especially if she's got a bush, really. For sure. Yeah, that's, you know, there's all these movies where they just throw like an extra murkin on somebody. Yeah, I mean, it is really upsetting. Truly. Also, her, like, her breasts are immovable. Yeah. Just, like, I can't imagine dancing like that and just having your top half not move. It seems, she looks like she's in pain to me. I don't mean to body shame her. I'm not trying to body shame her. I'm just saying,
Starting point is 00:12:05 it's a really weird scene. So, Miguel Nunez, the guy who is playing Spider. They're talking to him in this documentary and they're like, so what do you remember about the dance scene? He's like, well, Lenea Quigley's titties? Yeah, her titties, I remember her titties. They were like beautiful pyramids, just brought here from Egypt on her chest. It was wonderful. Oh my god. And then at the end of the movie everybody's signing off and you're just like, yeah, thanks for having me. Titties. He's a guy after our own heart. I wish they'd wrung a bell. So, okay, but she, her name is Trash. Her name is Trash, yes. She seems like actually not a lot of fun to hang out with. What?
Starting point is 00:12:51 Yeah. The rest of them seem fine. Yeah, suicide. Suicide, it could be, I could do away with, as well, yeah. You'd hang out with Skuz and Chuck. I'd hang out with Casey and Spider and Tina. Yeah, yeah. Why is Tina friends with them?
Starting point is 00:13:10 Is she a punk? Uh, she's like punk adjacent, maybe. She wears those telephone cords. She's lousy with phone cords. She's covered in them. And pockets. Lousy with pockets. Yeah, she has a lot of stuff in her pockets. Yeah, I don't know.
Starting point is 00:13:27 It's that 80s thing of like the incomparable friend group. Yeah, definitely. Incomprehensible, not incomparable. Maybe they're incomparable. They are incomparable. Where would you get these folks? I also love the conceit that the army is just absolutely fucking incompetent and useless. Yeah, that's funny.
Starting point is 00:13:50 Both the army and the police are useless in this world. Oh yeah. Paramedics too. They got a thing about EMTs. How dare they? Yeah. Treat you guys that way. You typical army fuck up. And it's like, wait, how often does the army fuck up? Because we just keep winning them wars. Do we? No, I don't know. The big ones. We win the big ones. Do we? The world ones. Back-to-back tramps. Yeah. I don't know if I'm ever going to feel comfortable wearing that tank top again. That's such a bummer. I used to love to wear that to events. Donald Trump has ruined so many things and one of them is my USA Back-to-back World War champs taps that I wore to every picnic in the summer.
Starting point is 00:14:35 Thanks. Thanks. Can I encourage you to get a close enough Luciao tank tap from T. Public. I would. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. to. to. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to. th. th. th. to. thi. to. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I'm. I'm to. I'm to. I'm to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. top from tea public.com I would but that's like jerking it off in the mirror you know I wear it no shame there's no shame in my game yeah that's fair you also jerk off in the mirror though yeah yeah yeah I got to see how you look oh cool face so oh cool face so Frank Frank unc takes Freddy down to the basement after he shows him the split dog and the basement after he shows him the split dog and the dead guy in a closet. I remember being very upset by the split dog.
Starting point is 00:15:10 And frankly I was again. Yeah, it's so cute. Ugh, it's so cute. It's so sad. I love Frank's, when he's explained, like, the guy's just such a great expressive actor. And when he's explaining, he's like, yeah, the zombies, it's in the basement and he like sticks his tongue out and rolls his eyes like, whoa! It's so cute. A little like he might be trying to fuck Freddy though. Sure, why not. He's stupid hot. Not stupid hot. Stupid hot. Stupid hot. Stupid hot. Stupid hot. Made by the U.S. Army Corps of Engineers. Sma-Sethat actor, James Karen, is responsible for
Starting point is 00:15:49 kidding Louisville nuked. Yeah. Yeah. And only moving the headstones in Poultrygeist. That was him. Yeah. Yeah. Wow, what a ding-dong. He really fucks up every choice he has to make. He really does. Did you notice that this score sounded exactly like the main theme from Peewe's Big Adventure? They were, it's, it's uncanny. It's the same key and the same like note pattern, but just like... It's like the minor version of it though? It might be. Yeah. Those movies were released literally one week apart. Oh wow, okay. Did Danny Elfman also do the music for this? I don't think so? No, I don't think. It's not as umpai. It's true. Yeah. Christ Ethel, I don't know. Oh, Colonel Glover. I feel like I'm becoming Colonel Glover, the
Starting point is 00:16:37 older I get, where I'm just, people asked me like really innocuous things and I'm like, what the fuck is wrong with you? He has my, let's see, seventh favorite line in this movie. When he comes home and his wife's like, hey, I made you your favorite, lamb chops. And he said, I had lamb chops for lunch. Okay. Who? Who has lamp chops for lunch? And where did you purchase them?
Starting point is 00:17:01 What restaurant nearby? There's a truck that comes down by the military military, the military, the military, the military, the military, the military, the military, the military, th....................... I, th. I, th. This ocean of Louisville? Oh no he's in San Diego. He's in San Diego. Yeah, yeah they have an ocean. I would like to talk about how one of the punks had never seen a graveyard before. Okay. How? I get who says that? I don't remember. One of them, I don't know. I just want a party. That's also what one of them says. Well, getting to touch with Freddie. He always knows where to party. Yeah. Like, let's just all seven of us wait for Freddy to be done with work, and then he's going to tell us where we're going. Mm-hmm. But, but, but, but, but, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to to to to to to to to to to to to to the the the the the the the th. thi, the thi, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their tho, tho, tho, thi. tho, thi. tho, tho. thoo. thoooooooooooooo. the. the. thoooooooooooo. their, their to be done with work and then he's gonna tell us where we're going Mm-hmm
Starting point is 00:17:45 But uh suicide can't drive real because he doesn't have any money for gas No, right he's got he's really unkind He's had a hard life. Has he? Yeah, it's good. Probably hot in Louisville with all that leather on? Yeah, that's true. Yeah, that's good. Yeah, it's good. It's probably. Yeah, the the the the the the the the the the the that. Yeah, that. You ever been to Louisville? But I like it. It's a nice place, except for all the horses. I've, uh, yeah, I played a bunch of shows there over the years on tours. That makes sense. You know, you're going down through the south, you's like... It's like four or five hours from here. Is it?
Starting point is 00:18:26 Yeah, because it's only like an hour from Cincinnati. Okay. Okay. Isn't it? I thought it was like eight or nine hours from here. No, that you could go nine hours, you're getting into Nashville. Oh, okay. Okay. Nashville.
Starting point is 00:18:39 I have driven to and from Nashville. Have you? Just for chits and Googles? I had some friends at Vanderbilt at the time. Oh nice. Yeah, smart people. The Vanderbilt family. Yeah, I'm actually super rich. It's the weird thing we've never revealed on this podcast. Shhh. Now I have to edit that out. Oh, so much work for you. And I forgot to edit it out to you. Might as well just heard it. I need to travel with a it out it out it out it out it out it out it out it out it out it out it out it out it out it out it out it out it out it out it out it out it out it. I. I. I. I. Yeah, I'm the the the the the. I'm to travel with a boom box regardless. Yeah, I used to when I was a kid. Yeah, my friend Christina just got one that's Bluetooth. So you can play something on your phone and play it through your boombox. And it has a tape deck. It's pretty amazing. No, we used it, it's not obnoxious. It's really fun.
Starting point is 00:19:16 Do you use it down by the hockey rink when she was roller skating. Are you getting into roller skating? No, I was, Lucy was riding her bike and Christina was roller skating and I was just running alongside them. Making sure everyone was safe. Yeah, like a fucking Australian shepherd or something. Keep it all online. Yeah, nipping at their heels. So they all go into the cemetery to party. Like you do. Starting point is 00:19:45 Luckily, suicide has a box of road flares that he brings in with him. Why does he have those? Someone asks him and he's just like, ah. Like, why even ask then? Like, why even ask then? Uh, the aforementioned trash gets naked. Does a dance to, uh, tonight we're going, we'll make love till we die by SSQ.
Starting point is 00:20:11 That is a nightmare. I put that up there with the song, the montage song and the monster squad. The rock until you drop. Yeah, dance to your feet fall off. No, I don't want to do that. That's awful. Horrible. I mean, I feel like she's really no fun at this party. Yeah, except she's naked. Yeah, but that's not fun for everyone.
Starting point is 00:20:35 Spider loves it. Yeah. But maybe I should start drawing patterns on my face with eyeliner. What do you think? I think I can pull that off? Oh yeah for sure. Have you thought about a pink wig that looks not on like a butt helmet? Yeah, okay. Her wig is terrible. It is. I think they were just like punk wig and someone was like this? Apparently that's what happened when they were doing the like hair style. So Scuze and suicide found a punk hair stylist. Okay. And went to them and the actual actual their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their pink their pink their pink their pink their pink th. Starting point is 00:21:09 Sure. Because they were all like preppy people. I imagine, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah. And they also bleach the hell out of Ernie's hair to make him hyper blonde. He just looks very old. I don't thou his hair is white. Yeah. He's not, He's also in your favorite film of all time. He's the assassin at
Starting point is 00:21:31 Weekend of Bernies. Oh he is. Wow. Mm-hmm. Don Calpha is the actor's name. Because there's a point at which he, you're, there's a point of view, you're behind his desk and there's a clear, what is clearly a photo of him and his mother, and it's from like the 1950s, and he's maybe like, I mean, you could just tell by the style that it's from the, yeah. eight or nine and that would have been like 30 to 35 years earlier because I did this math in my head and thought how old is this man he's not that old. He's also subtly supposed to be a Nazi. Is he? Yeah that's why they planned to bleach his hair out. Why would he be a Nazi? And he's listening to
Starting point is 00:22:18 like Germanic music on his headphones? I thought it was just drama. And his character his character is named, uh, what's the, it? It? It? It? It's? It's? It's? It's? It's? It's? It's? It's? It's? It's the, it? It's the, it? It's the, it? It's the, it? It's the, it? It's th? It's th? It's th, it's like, it's like, it's like, th. It's like, it's like, th. It's thi? How old? How old? How old character is named, uh, what's the, it's like, Ernie Carl Butner, which is the name of a Nazi who was hung at Nuremberg. Oh my god. It was just like, Dan O'Bannon. That's really out there. That's going a little far, Dan O'Bannon. Especially because he's kind of one of the heroes of the film. Yeah, arguably the hero. Yeah, he's the's th is thed, it's thed, it's thed, it's thed, it's thed, it's thed, it's thed, it's thed, it's thi, it's thi, it's thi, it's thi, it's the the, it's the, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like of one of the heroes of the film. Yeah, he's treated like very sympathetically. Apparently, like, what he got cast, he told somebody his character's name, and they were like, what? He's like, yeah, it says it again. You don't know who that is. No. And then they explained, and he was like, oh, weird. Oh, that that that that is weird, that is weird. Weird. That that is weird. Oh, that is weird. that is weird. that is weird. th weird. th weird. th weird. th weird. th. that is like, thi thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th. He's like, oh, he's like, oh, he's like, oh, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, he's like, that is weird.
Starting point is 00:23:05 Meanwhile, while the party's going on in the cemetery, Frank and Freddie are just cry screaming at each other for a really long time. Like part of me thought, oh it's sort of like touching to see them like go into panic together. Sure. But then another part of me was like they've been cry screaming for 20 minutes. I feel like they have a really honest relationship in this like horror comedy ridiculous movie. Yeah. I mean Frank is a very tragic character. You think? Yeah. What? No? That's what I, one of the things I love about this is just that there's these like unbearably depressing things that happen in this movie. Yeah. You know like being dead hurts. Yes. And Frank
Starting point is 00:23:50 and his suicide. And yeah just it's Linnea Quigley actually getting to experience her nightmare of how she's gonna die. Yeah. I'm sorry trash not Lanaya Quigley. Lonea Quigley is God bless her still with us. Never gonna die. No hope God I hope not. No if any of us should be immortal. Probably her. Speaking of there was a rumor going around today that Bismarcky died. I saw that. And I saw the headline that he was dead. No, I was like, thank you. I fixed it. He seems the the head the head the head th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. that. th. God wasn't dead and I was like thank you yeah I fixed it he seems ill though sure he's been hospitalized multiple times over the past year or so so sending out a positive vibes into the universe for Bismarcky oh good guy yeah good guy yeah go listen to some bismarkey people yeah he says he's fantastic. Big Daddy Kane's cousin.
Starting point is 00:24:45 Oh yeah? I didn't know that. He did a lot of beatboxing on the children's show, Yo Gabba Gabba. Sure. Yeah. Yeah. He brought him in for another generation. And he's just a friend is one of the greatest songs of all time. Ah, doesn't it just make you want to scream with a group of people like, Oh, baby you! Just to think about it. Oh, and the vapors? He's got so many good guys.
Starting point is 00:25:09 Oh, yeah. All right, let's not, he's not dead. Let's not talk about him. No, exactly. I'm giving him his flowers while he's still here. The cadaver is hilarious looking when it comes after them. It looks so bad. I love it so much. Like, it's like a, it looks like a green screen suit, you know? Like, like, this man tie of extreme jaundice. Why is that color?
Starting point is 00:25:37 Extreme jaundice and hairlessness, because he is a boiled egg. There's one point where you could definitely see the skull gap that he's wearing, like it wrinkles up. But I love like when they hack it's his head off, they have to, because they get Bert to come back to work to take care of the situation because they don't know what to do Frank and Freddie. And Bert's like, well, we gotta take care of this. We gotta kill him. You you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you you the movie you the movie you the movie you the movie you they they they they they they they they they they they they th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. thoea. tho. thi. thi. thoome. tho. tho. tho. tho. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. It's to to to to to toea. toea. toea. It's toea. toea. It's toea. toea. too. too. too. the gotta kill them you got what you said in the movie they uh they destroyed the brain and everything
Starting point is 00:26:07 was fine let's do that of course it doesn't work you mean the movie lied is what Freddy says at 400 times the volume you just over there's shaking cry screaming when Frank says watch your mouth you want to lose this turn? Don't you like this job? Or don't you just like, like this job? It's so cute. It's so funny. They cut the cadaver's head off.
Starting point is 00:26:39 And it's just sort of like a puppet for a little while, I think. Yeah. It looks so funny. I love it. It's just like dancing around and running at them. When the cadaver comes out running at top speed and tackles Klu-Gulliger, it's so fucking funny. That is very funny. Who apparently hated Dan O'Bannon and may may or may not have thrown something at him that exploded in a doorway. What? Yeah. What do you mean exploded? I don't know if it was like a can of soda or something. Oh, oh, oh, oh. But multiple people told the story and then they cut to Clue Gulliger and he's like, I'm a professional. There's no way I would ever do that. You fucking did that. I mean, can you imagine? Dan O'Bannon wrote this? to be a thr I. the, Dan O' the, Dan, the, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thin, Dan. thin, Dan. thrown. thrown. thrown. th. th. th. thin, thin, the, th. thi, the, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Okay, yeah. You can imagine him being like, this is my fantasy film and Klu-Guliger. Gulliger. Gulliger. No, you need two L's for that. I know, I agree. It's Gulaigar. Being like, oh,
Starting point is 00:27:34 fuck you. Oh, fuck you, you, psychopath. He was apparently really hard. Dan Omenna was really hard to work with. Yeah. Because, uh, Tina, Tina, told. told, told hard to work with. Yeah. Because Tina also hated him. Because she said when she told the story of Klugeliger, she was like, he was my hero that day. Because I wanted to do that, but I was 19 and didn't know if I could or not. Yeah. You can. You can. 19 year olds throw things at your boss.
Starting point is 00:27:59 Oh my god, yeah. You're being attacked, go for the eyes, go for the groin. So yeah, they saw, they get the bone saw up the cadaver and put him in bags. Oh my God. And then carry him to Ernie, who works at the mortuary. And meanwhile, we're shifting back and forth from this to the punks, for like not a lot of reason. We're just seeing them hang out, just to see them be punks partying in the cemetery for like not a lot of reason. We're just seeing them hang out just to see them be punks. You're getting this is a great build-up or they're they're they're building the characters up for you. You know that Chuck and Casey don't get along. Yeah, that's funny. He says I love sex and death. How do you feel about that? Casey and she says yeah, me too. Why don't you fuck off and die? And th. And th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. the th. the the th. the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the thi. the thi. the thi. the thi. the the the thi. the fuck off and die. Yeah, that's funny. And you're seeing that a, Linnae Quigley is still just
Starting point is 00:28:52 naked, wandering. Oh, there's the th- naked but for leg warmers. She's like, I'm hot. It's like you have sweaters on your legs and nothing else. I don't know what to fucking tell you. I also have this thing over my genitals. I'm sweating through this. When she's standing there while suicides delivering his soliloquy about if this is a costume? You think this is a fucking costume? This is a way of life. Was Dan O'Bannon making fun of punks? I think he's celebrating them. Oh man. Because apparently the... It's their fucking media. Apparently John Russo, the guy who retained the Living Dead name, because he also worked on Night of the Living Dead. He had, him and somebody else had written this script about like
Starting point is 00:29:40 it's in the future, it's a little bit past Night of Living Dead and now there's all these like cults that have broke or like been born out of and they worshiped the zombies the zombies the zombies the zombies the zombies the zombies the zombies the zombies the zombies the zombies the zombies the zombies... they're they're the zombies they're they're the zombies. they're they're they the zombies. they they they they they they they their the the they're the they're they're they're they're they're they they're they they're they're they they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're they're the the the the the their the the their their their their their their f-'s a little bit past Night of Living Dead and now there's all these like cults that have broke, or like been born out of and they worship the zombies or they use the zombies and their cults. And so somebody bought, like became the producer and was like, yeah, we're not doing that Dan O'Ben, it's gonna write a totally new movie. And John Russo was just like, okay, Oh, borrow. This movie, okay, yeah. So yes, Ernie, they're trying to convince Ernie to burn. The Rapid Weasels. This scene is also interminable. It goes on a forever.
Starting point is 00:30:20 There's so much padding in this movie. For sure. Yeah, for sure. But I love like, I feel like that all of the, most of the acting is super confident. Especially like Ernie and Kluger and Frank, like the older actors and those are really great. And like, just Ernie being like, this doesn't make sense. Why would I do, no, call animal control? What are you doing? I'm not going to do this. Yeah. Yeah, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I th. I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I th. I th. I the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the they like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I feel like, I'm thi, I'm thi, like, like, I'm thi, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, this doesn't make sense. Why would I do it? No, call animal control. What are you doing? I'm not gonna do this. Yeah. Yeah, he's right about not burning animals alive.
Starting point is 00:30:50 Yeah. He's like, that's incredibly cruel. It is some foreshadowing for Frank though. I know. And Frank also says, I could operate that thing. Yeah. I'll tell you you that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. th. the. th. the. the. Yeah. the. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. th. th. he he he he's he's he's right. he's right. he's right. he's right. he's right Yeah. Ernie is matching maroon sneaks. To his maroon jumpsuit. I fucking love it. I think they're new balances.
Starting point is 00:31:10 He looks so cool. He's fresh. He's a cool guy. Is he fresh anymore? Oh yeah. He looks fresh? Fresh as hell? Can't you?
Starting point is 00:31:19 I don't know? He looks fresh as hell. Super dope. Super dope. I think he looks fly. Oh fly as hell. Yeah. He looks fat with a pH. Oh my gosh, that's too much for me. That's just bringing back some Genco nightmares. It seems really hot there. And Chuck is just wearing like a twil coat. I feel so sad for him. Scud says that long-ass trench coat on? Why? I don't know, good, that's what punks wear.
Starting point is 00:31:52 I've been a teenage punk in the summer. Not a whole lot of trench coats? No. A lot of cut off sleeves. A lot of cut off shorts. Yeah. Yep, mm-hmm, mm-hmm, mm-hmm, mm-hmm. So they burn the weasels because Bert is basically like, I need you to do this for me, Erin, and I'm just like, you're my friend. They're Bert and Ernie.
Starting point is 00:32:12 We're talking about that in the last episode? Yeah. Okay, just making sure. I will bring it up again, they're saying the other's name. That's so cute, though. You love them. I do. I didn't get a real chemistry from them.
Starting point is 00:32:30 I didn't buy that they were good friends. I feel like Kluliger has zero chemistry with anybody in this movie. I thought you were just gonna say anybody, period. period, because I'm thinking of the nightmare on Elm Street film that we just did, where he was like, nobody loved him. And why should they? Thermoset says it's 97 degrees in here. Just need a shot of freon. Oh. So, as soon as they burn the weasels, of course rain, rain falls down into the cemetery, starts
Starting point is 00:33:04 burning everyone's skin. Oh, okay. Okay. Why did that that they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they should they should they should they should they should they should they should they should they they they they they they they they should they should they should. And they should. And why. And why. And why. And why. And why. And they. And they. And they. And they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they burn the weasels, of course, rain falls down into the cemetery, starts burning everyone's skin, acid rain. Why did that make acid rain? Well, it didn't. It made zombie rain. Oh, okay. Yeah. Why didn't that turn them all into zombies? No open wounds, maybe?
Starting point is 00:33:17 Maybe. Maybe. There's also a very, very, very, very long scene of Ernie cutting his thi There's just like also a very, very, very, very long scene of Ernie cutting his pant leg off. Well, why is it so long? So later you didn't have to think about whether or not Ernie had cut his pant leg off. How, show me with him holding a pair of scissors and I'm in. Boy, I gotta take care of this pant leg and cut.
Starting point is 00:33:38 Yep. After they burn the weasels, Frank and Freddie are both like, I don't feel good. Yeah, and they start to look pretty bad. I do like how they progressively look worse and worse and worse in every scene. Yeah. And the scene where the paramounts is great when they're like taking their, their their temperature and blood pressure and stuff,
Starting point is 00:33:59 and they're like, wait, let's swap. Yeah. They're like, can I speak to you over here for just a moment? And Frady's going, what are you guys talking about? What are you saying? Which is fair. They're room temperature. 70 degrees, room temperature. Do you know that the paramedics names are Tom and Jerry? I didn't. That's like not even good. I feel like horror loves to reference earlier horror.
Starting point is 00:34:27 Dan O'Bandem was like, fuck you, I will reference this shit-ass cartoon. Whoa, are we calling Tom and Jerry a shit-ass cartoon right now? One hundo I am. Wow. It's not good. Wow. It's literally just one thing. I love the 60s check Tom Jerry's though. What? There's these
Starting point is 00:34:47 really weird Tom and Jerry's that happened that are like have a lot of thermen in the soundtrack and what? Really? Are they the same concept basically? Yeah, Yeah. Yeah. Catching is. Yeah. And I love the one where uh... Jerry dresses an elephant up to look like a giant mouse that just keeps beating the shit out of Tom. Well I stand corrected. No, I just I was literally raised by TV. So there wasn't a lot of choices when I was a child. It's true. You were watching one of like six channels. Yeah, what is there a Warner Brothers cartoon? Tom and Jerry? Yeah. Rasslin? Should have picked the rasslin really? Oh no, I watched it all. Yeah. Don't worry. Okay, quick. So old Tina goes down into the warehouse basement looking for Freddie. Yeah. Where she encounters The tar map. Yeah. He nasty. He's real gross. He reminds me of the movie where the guy's kid is missing and the. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the guy. the guy. the guy. the guy. the guy. the guy. the guy. the guy. the guy. the guy. the guy. the guy. the guy. the guy. the guy. the guy. the guy. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Starting point is 00:36:09 Yeah, or 20 years I guess. He would smell terrible. Yeah, absolutely. Real bad. Real bad. Not good. I thought you meant the actor. You're just calling him names. No, but the actor looks surprisingly like the Tar Man. Really? I look them up. Brains. So- live brain. More brains? And as we discussed in the original episode, this is the first time that brains are the things that zombies are after. Wow, I don't remember that.
Starting point is 00:36:42 Yeah, this put zombies eat brains into popular culture. Into the lexicon, into the zeitgeist. And since then, zombies want brains. I did not know that. I apparently did six years ago. Sorry. I was throwing a lot of information out of that episode. And then the key grip, he was...
Starting point is 00:37:03 His uncle, C was... I uncle C was... He was... I think suicide gets killed because I wrote more like homicide. I hope I didn't make that joke last time. Did I? Yes, I'm getting funnier. I'm surprised that suicide died so early. Yeah, he's kind of insufferable.
Starting point is 00:37:24 Sure. Yeah, you like want him out of there. Sure. But who didn't have an insufferable. Sure. Yeah. You like want him out of there. Sure. But who didn't have an insufferable punk friend when you were a young punk rocker? I mean, I think most of mine were, yeah. And if you didn't, you may have been the insufferable punk friend? Yeah. I do, sorry. I was going to say another thing I learned the documentary is apparently the guy who played suicide was pissed his th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. And th. He's just like, he doesn't even like crouch down to get something out of a bag like he would. He just goes like, touch your toes, ass to camera. The weird thing is that he looks back at the camera and just like right down the barrel like you're getting all this? You're getting all this? So sexy, weird. I didn't notice that, but I appreciate that you did. Yeah, I'm always looking for an ass to camera. Oh, I wrote truly, what loss is trash?
Starting point is 00:38:28 Pah! None, because she comes back. I guess so, yeah. And she got an even bigger mouth when she comes back. She does. And the song that's playing is like, we got a party, it's party time? Do you want a party? Starting point is 00:38:59 I thought a lot about the score in this one. Oh, did you? Okay. I figured I didn't talk about that last time. I could safely talk about thi the th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. The Flesh Eaters, there's so many good songs on here.
Starting point is 00:39:42 All right. So now they're, half of them are held up in the mortuary and half are in the, you need a medical supply. Yeah, the dead have risen from the grave. They've killed the EMTs. One gets on the radio and says, send more EMTs. I don't know why he said it like that. That's not far off. Yeah. Yeah. He's also great because when you see him, he's just like
Starting point is 00:40:26 like they did a mock-up of the EMT. And he is just face first first in the guy. And the guy. And the guy. And the guy. And the guy. Him and the legless zombie, that Ernie sees that gets up and runs at him when he's like non-legs and very awesome. Yeah, some of the zombies are really, really great. There's like a skeleton bride that eats Scuze, I liked that. Yeah, yeah. No regard for Skas th, he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he he th. There's like a skeleton bride that eats scuzz. I liked that. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:48 No regard for scuze, though. He gets eaten and spider just walks right by him. Doesn't give a shit on skus. It never likes that, dude. I don't feel like anybody in this friend. I don't feel like that to thi. Casey tells Chuck she does not like him. Yeah. I've never liked you, Chuck, but hold me tight. I kept imagining saying that to someone that I've never liked, you know.
Starting point is 00:41:10 I've never liked you, Bill Paduto, but hold me tight. I realize that I have not been peppering in quotes from our fans. Barry Pepper me with one. Oh, I love Malca. I really like Pretor of the Living Dead. It is more more. than. th. th. th. th. I is. I is. I is more. I is more. th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I tase. I tase. I tap. I really like Pertura the Living Dead. It is more than, I like it more than Evil Dead, and it's funnier. I don't like the exposition zombie, but everything else is great.
Starting point is 00:41:37 Oh, the woman who says, oh, God. I don't like that her mouth can't make an M, B, or P sound and yet she makes them incessantly. You get a much stronger elocution with your tongue after you passed away. Just like, just for mad, it just matches up so poorly. Sure. You could tell they did and they were like, this is just going to look shitty and they were like, ah, fuck it. But her as an animatronic thing, I think looks awesome. Sure. And I love that, that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that th. th. that th. that th. th. th. th. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi is thi is thi is the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. animatronic thing, I think, looks awesome. Sure. And I love that her spinal column wags. Yeah. But that also means she's just shaking her ass, too. Because in order to get your spinal column to wag like that,
Starting point is 00:42:13 you'd have to be a lot of hip movement, you know? But she's shaking her phantom ass? Because it doesn't, or do you think her actual their their just shaking. You know I'm not real clear on that. Okay, but if I ever lose my ass I hope I have phantom ass syndrome. She also just fucking leave her unattended which I felt was a really bad idea. She also makes weird like metal sounding noises like gnaah but it's like real metallic. But she also sounds like um who's the woman in Lord of the Rings who plays the... God, fuck, what's her name? In Lord of the Rings?
Starting point is 00:42:51 Long blonde hair. Uh, Ayoin? No, the witch. Oh, Galadriel. Yeah. Who's that woman? Kate Blanchette? She has her voice. Do you think it is gay planchette? Yes. Okay, okay.
Starting point is 00:43:06 Pretty sure. Oh yeah, tonight we'll make love till we die. Just like Wharf fucking you to death. That's a note I have. Tonight, we'll make love till we die. What if Wharf was singing that to you and then he fucked you to death? Because he will. He can't fuck a human. To no.
Starting point is 00:43:26 That's my wharf impressions. And everyone's just like, shut up. No one cares what you have to say. Oh, everyone's concerned about Dana's tick, but no one cares if I fuck you to death. I care if you fuck me to death. Amanda. Amanda from the the Pitt episode got in touch and said Hi Amanda. Hello Amanda. I bought a Swiss at the East Lib Barnes and Noble before it shut down. I had never watched it before decided I should own it anyway
Starting point is 00:43:55 and it ended up loving it. I was surprised and how funny it was. Yeah. Mm-hmm. It is very funny. Where was there Barnes and Noble in East Liberty? Uh, there's one in Squirrel Hill. Yeah, that's what I'm thinking. There was a borders in East Liberty. Where was there a borders? Where the Chapotal is now? There was a borders.
Starting point is 00:44:18 Yes, you're right, there was. Oh, that wasn't there long. No. No. No. RIP. Yeah. They wouldn't move into the digital world and there they go. By borders. Well that was a border for them wasn't it? No, that's not good. Send more cops. I love the idea that like, hey man, where are we going to get more food from? I don't know when we order in. Yeah, it's true. It's true. Them ordering more food is incredibly funny. I also love the idea that the police would hear a person saying send more cops and they were like, no, that's police talk. Oh shit, we need more cops. We need to send more cops. Because you just pick on the food, the photo, they'd like. Sot, the food, the food, the food, the food, the food, the food, to be like, the food, to be like, the food, the food, to be like, to be like, the food, the food, the food, to be like, to be like, to be like, to be like, to be like, to be like, the food, to be like, to be like, to be like, the police, the police, the police, the police, the police, the police, the police, the police, the police, the food, the food, the food, the food, the food, the food, the food, the food, the food, the food, the food, the food, the phone, the phone, the phone, the phone, the phone, the phone, the phone, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the, food, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the police, the police, the, the the the the the the be like, send more pizza. You know what, so Freddie and Frank have been locked in the Wee Chapel of the Dawn. This is called the Wee Chapel of the Dawn.
Starting point is 00:45:13 And Tina, because she doesn't want to leave Freddie. Tina, fucking leave Freddie. He's not that stupidhood. No, he is not. Tina, you'll do better. Although he does have that fuck you Letterman's jacket. Although he does have that fuck you Letterman's jacket. I love how he puts on that fuck you Letterman's jacket to help his colleague take out some trash. Like what?
Starting point is 00:45:30 Your varsity, fuck you jacket? He, I will hand it to the actor playing Freddy. He is giving it his all in these scenes. For sure. When he turns into a bad guy. I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I the pain. I th. I the pain. I th. I the pain. I the pain. I the pain. I th. I th. I know it'll get rid of the pain. You've gotta let me try your brains. And he's just stumbling and falling over benches and hues and like crashing through doors and running into walls. It is just, he is doing a heck of a job.
Starting point is 00:46:00 He's jumping a lot. Yep. So they come in, after Tina starts screaming, the like living people come in to rescue her and literally no one notices Frank just cruising right out. How can that be? I love that Frank looks around like, no one's noticing. And then Q Rocky Erics and him loading himself into the crematorium. Which is a bummer. He called his wife earlier and told her he'd be home in an hour. Yeah, yeah, pot rust.
Starting point is 00:46:32 She's not gonna just gonna. She's probably dead too, honestly. She's probably dead too, honestly. Oh yeah, they nuked. theypil 4,000. Only 4,000. Only 4,000, yeah, that's one of the also deeply, deeply troubling things about this movie. It's almost like the military doesn't care about civilian casualties. I do like, you know, that thing of people making these movies are probably old hippies at this point in time.
Starting point is 00:47:04 So they're still sticking it to the man. Yeah, there's definitely an element of that in this era of film, sticking it to the man. Oh for sure. Yeah. For sure. People who like protested Vietnam. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:47:17 So yeah, Frank burns himself up. It's a great scene. I love this him kissing the ring. Oh, I hate it. Does it make you sad? Yeah, oh, deeply sad. Yeah, I hate it. I hate it. But then it's also like, why did the two of them sort of retain their humanity for so long when the others just turn into like... Well, because they didn't get bit or anything. Like it's the gradual process of the gas killing them and them reanimating. I'll accept that. I also like a like Freddy getting rigor mortis. Oh yeah the rigor scenes in this are very funny and very gross. His back is got blood where it's pooling. Oh Freddy. Oh, Freddy.
Starting point is 00:48:05 Mm-hmm. So, Ernie and Tina end up locked in like a crawl space. And he's basically using her as a human shield. It's meant to look tender, but it doesn't. He's also going to shoot her when Freddy breaks in. He's got the gun up to the side of her head. Yeah. He's going to kill her so she doesn't have to die that way. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:48:25 Ernie is the hero of this movie. The hero none of us deserve. The maybe Nazi hero, none of us deserve. Also, Chuck and Tina are held up in the, uh, you need a medical supply. Right, Chuck and Casey are. Chuck and Casey, sorry. And I don't remember what happens to them. Uh, I don't remember.
Starting point is 00:48:49 You die, I guess. Yeah, yeah. And Spider dies too. Spider does die. Well, technically, everybody dies. True. Because, uh, eventually, Klu Gulliger calls the, um, the number on the side of the tank. Yeah. And they call in a tactical strike on Louisville. And when Colonel, what is it, Colonel Glover, yeah, calls the guy who's like
Starting point is 00:49:15 on the mountaintop with the gun and he's like, okay, what's the password there? And the guy is like, aqua, hot dog? Rotodendrian. It's like, what? What? What? What? What? What? What? What's the password? The the password? What's the password? What's the password? What's the password? What's the password? What's the password? What's the password? What's the password? What's the password? What's the password? What's the password? What's the password? Oh, uh? Oh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh, uh? Uh? Uh? Uh? Uh? Uh? Uh? Uh? Uh? Uh? Uh? What, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the password? the password? the password? the password? What's, the password? What's the and the guy's like, aqua, hot dog, rhododendron, it's like what, what, what, a hot dog? Yeah, that's what H is in that alphabet. Hot dog, hot dog. Those code numbers are such a weak password. Imagine trying to, you can use that for your Gmail. Gmail would be like, listen, try harder. I liked it. It's cute. It is cute. Yeah, 20 square blocks destroyed. Only 4,000. But then they flip it over and beat it to death to death to death to death to to to to to to to to to to the to to the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the wall off off off off off the wall off the wall off the wall off the wall off the wall off the wall off the wall off the wall the wall the the the the the the the the the the the wall the wall the wall the wall the wall the wall the wall the wall the wall the wall off off off off off off off off off off off off off off off off off off off off off off off off off the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th tho tho tho tho tho tho thooo the wall, the wall the wall, the wall the wall the wall the wall the wall the wall the ground with its little organs on the ground, kicking its feet and yelping, I hate it. But then they flip it over and beat it to death with a crutch. Yeah, that is hilarious. What was this person's name? Someone to get a welfare check out on them, they might not be okay.
Starting point is 00:50:56 Oh, that's not nice. What was this person's name? Amy. Their screen name was Femmy 9 Marvel. It's probably feminine. Never mind me. Femmy 9. Well no it's the number 9. No I get it. Oh no I understand. I want to send out a shout out to Colabrina who sent us a very long message and then notice that I said concise in the things that I requested and she was like, oh shit. But I appreciate your thoughts, thank you very much. All positive I assume? Yeah, yeah. Yeah, because everybody fucking loves this movie. So Katie, Alan, you got to tell me your thoughts in this movie on second viewing. A little bit of time is passed. You feel like you've gained an understanding of cinema from this point, oh shit? shit, oh shit, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, th shit, th shit, th shit, th shit, th shit, th shit, th shit, th shit, th shit, th shit, thi shit, thi, thi, thi, thi, s shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, shit, thia, thia, thia, thia, this movie. On the second viewing, a little bit of time has passed. Do you feel like you've gained an understanding of cinema from this point in time? No, no, I just wasn't like watching this movie in a house with no heat and also no water while my next-door neighbor jerked it and, quite frankly, probably crying. In like the 15 minutes that I had before I had to get over here. Oh, you were crying, not your master's trying.
Starting point is 00:52:06 No, no, no, no, I was crying. Frankly, I was crying. And then like, trying to finish the end really quickly before I got in a car and drove through like an ice tundra over here. And I was just fucking miserable and I didn't want to be watching it. It's fine, it's a fine film. It's like, it's silly, it's definitely funny. Yeah. There's a lot of long exposition and non-exposition scenes that are at points hard to watch. Sure.
Starting point is 00:52:36 Sure. don't want to. I'm not going to. Yeah. And re-listing to that episode and maybe just because I was judging myself very harshly, you didn't come down like as hard as you were on other movies. I think it's just become legendary because this is... It's the one where I'm most obviously wrong. Well, and it's a top five movie for me, like it's a movie that I the movie that I adore. Sure. You know, I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm sure I'm the the the the that I'm that I'm that I'm that I'm that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a that's a movie. I'm a movie. I'm a movie. I'm a movie. I'm a movie. I'm a movie. I'm a movie. I'm a movie. I'm a movie. I'm a movie. I'm a movie. I'm a movie. I'm a movie. I'm a movie. I'm a movie. I'm a movie. I'm a movie. I'm a movie. I'm a movie. I'm a movie. I'm the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. I'm a movie. I'm a movie. I'm sure I don't remember if I told this in the episode, but I had a cassette when I was like 12 years old that one side of it was Alice Cooper's billion dollar babies and the other side was the soundtrack to this movie. That's cool. That I just listened to constantly. Yeah. And so it's like it's so rooted in who I am as a little baby horror guy. And then I shit all over it. You honestly didn't. Like, and I th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. You obviously didn't like I mean and I think like we were still coming off of without warning and shit like that. So this was like... I think at that point too I was just really wondering what I'd
Starting point is 00:53:33 gotten myself into. Now you know. Now I know. What did I rate it in the end? Oh he didn't make it all the end. It's It's going to 5 minutes? Oh, buddy. Oh, friend. Don't go back and listen to yourself. It's never a good idea. No, that's why I don't listen to these episodes. It's not that when I'm editing it, but I think six years' distance is just like too much.
Starting point is 00:53:55 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. have to know. I should go back and re-edit the theme song though and make it a little shorter. Oh right. We also once got a real bad review that was like, do these people not listen to their podcast? It's screeching and horrible and I was like, hey fuck you out and wrote that. That was within the last year. Yeah. Move up, we get better. All right I am gonna rate it. Okay. I'm gonna give it a seven. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. th. th. th. th. the th. the the the th. the the the th. the the th. the the the the the the the their. their. their. their. their. their. Yeah. th. their. their. their. their. their. their. the their. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I'm. I. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. I'm. Yeah. Yeah. I'm. Yeah. Yeah. I'm. I'm. Yeah. I'm. Yeah. I'm. I'm. th. I'm. th. I'm. th. I'm gonna rate it. Okay, okay. I'm gonna give it a seven. Oh, nice. It's not my favorite of these weird 80s movies. Like I really do prefer chopping wall. Neon Maniacs.
Starting point is 00:54:32 I loved neon maniacs. Yeah, it's fine. It's funny. Yeah. Yeah. It's funny. There's a lot of parts where I'm like, don't understand necessarily the cult appeal around it except for like the teenage punk thing because it's four teenage punks. It's a great representation of 80s movies punks. Sure.
Starting point is 00:54:52 It's got a killer soundtrack if you're into that scene. If you're into horror comics of the 50s, it's vibing very hard off of that shit. Like give me some... Like old EC comics and like that. Oh, gotcha. So, yeah. So, yeah. So, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, it. So, it. So, it. So, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's. the the the the, it's. the, it's. the. the, it's. the, it's. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the, it's. the. the, it's. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. th. thi. thi. the the the the the, it's the, it's the th Vault of Horror and stuff like that. Oh, gotcha. So it's like it's very, you know, just the, the, the, whereas like Romero's zombie design is a very specific like everybody's got wounds and they're blue or they're, you know, Savini did amazing work on that stuff. But they wanted this to more, look more like mummies. Yeah. And so everyone's more amaciated looking. And like, like, like, like, like, like, you, the, you, the, th, th, th, th, it, it, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's like, it's th. It's th. It's very, it's very, it's very, it's very, it's very, it's very, it's very, it's very, it's very, it's very, it's very, th. It's very, it's very, you. It's very, you. thi, you. their. their. their, you. their. It's very. It's very. It's very. It's very. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's very. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's very. It's very. It's very. It's very. It's very. It's very, it's very, it's very th. th. thi. It's very th th th th th th th th th thi. th th thi. th thi. the the th the thi. It's very wanted this to look more like mummies. Yeah. And so everyone's more amaciated looking and like, yeah, it's got a good, it's got a cool vibe to it that looks like old horror comic books on some level.
Starting point is 00:55:34 So yeah, I think it just, and it scratched an it was, it was, did really well in the theater when it came out and stuff. So, yeah, I think people dug it. And I think it just, yeah, and people people, and people, and people, and people, and people, and people, th, th, and people, th, th, th, th, and people, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, the the thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, the, the, the, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, the thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, the the-a thea thea thea thea' thea' thea' thea' thea' thea' thea, thea, th came out and stuff. So yeah, I think people dug it. And I think it just, yeah, and people my age just, it's, it's, it just hit really hard for me. My nerdy ass self. I assume you gave it a 10 last time. Oh yeah, yeah, yeah. What are you going to give it this time? Probably an 11? Yeah. Please go up to 11. I watched it and I was like, oh, I'm not taking fucking notes. I'm just gonna watch this movie. I've seen it so many times. It's nice.
Starting point is 00:56:07 It's nice to not take notes. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Good. Well, thank you. Thank you for giving me the opportunity to write a wrong, correct and error. Of course. Yeah. It's not wrong if you just have a differing opinion. Well, I'm calling, I'm telling on myself here, you know. Yeah. But, yeah, I know there's definitely episodes
Starting point is 00:56:31 that I was in shitty moods or off or something. So like, yeah. That first year, yeah, I feel like we really, we spent time, we like took turns being in bad moods. We eventually got our groove. Now we just come up here and giggle for literally three hours while we record two episodes. And if you don't like it, please leave us a negative review on our giggling. Please, tell me all about how you don't like it and then fuck off. Thanks to everybody who wrote in. Anybody else you want to shout out here? Holly also gave us a very long right up on it. But, largely female responses
Starting point is 00:57:11 here, I'm enjoying that. Yeah, for sure. Good. She does put out one of my favorite lines in the movie when the punks are all in the car. I'm like, where's Freddie? Freddie got a job? What a dick! This movie also has the great insult of dick brain, which I really do enjoy. What a dick! And the whole thing of like, behind, when Frank and Freddie are in the office and there's that eye chart that says Bert is a slave driver and a cheap son of a bitch and all this stuff. It's like, that's so funny. It is very funny. And I assume Bernish just never noticed.
Starting point is 00:57:49 He's never clocked for that it's on the wall. Yeah, that's funny. And now he can't because he's dead. Well, they're all dead. Yeah, yeah, everybody's dead. That's good. Good, good, good, good, good, good. Because, oh we didn't mention at the end of the movie when they drop the bomb, the bomb then causes rain that's going to fall and create more zombies. Right, that's why they reuse the earlier scene of the zombie coming out of the ground because he is coming out of the ground again? Thank you, he's back baby. He still wants to party and make little till he dies.
Starting point is 00:58:18 Eoo. Katie. What we're going to do next week? Let's do something we promised, which was if you left us a nice review, we would do a movie of your suggestion. Only one person took us up on it because everyone else knows we're liars. But just to prove or not we're going to do the New Zealand horror comedy, Black Sheep. From 2006, not to be confused with the Chris Farley movie. Yeah, that's like a 96 I'm going to say. Mm-hmm. Mm-hmm. What do you like better? That one or Tommy Boy? Or should we talk about it next week? Yeah, let's talk about next week. I don't want to burn my good Chris Farley material. I've got to go back to my van down by the river. Yeah, good idea. Break this. Oh, break th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi thi thi thi tho tho the the thi the' tho the' the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th. th. Yeah. Thanks for listening to another episode of World Ambulance.
