Werewolf Ambulance: A Horror Movie Comedy Podcast - Episode 350- Malignant (2021)

Episode Date: October 11, 2021

*dj air horn* It's our 350th episode! We actually didn't realize until...well, right now. But that's okay, because we think it's a pretty good one. This episode represents our return to the Wan-iverse... with James Wan's newest film, "Malignant." Special topics for your consideration include: some more life advice from your friends who know nothing-- including some on both hypnotherapy and falling down, a little bit of DMB talk (please don't come at us DMB fans, it's fine, we're sorry), Five Inch Nails, some real "Paranormal Activity"-level spooky kid stuff, and a slander being righted in the most delightful way (stick around to the end for that one). The Wan-iverse is vast and we've really disliked most of it. Find out more with Episode 81- "Saw," Episode 96- "The Conjuring," Episode 303- "Insidious" and Episode 333- "The Conjuring 2." I was also 90% sure we'd done "The Nun" but the records beg to differ and they are probably right, so.  Find us online: Support us at patreon.com/werewolfambulance and get bonus episodes about action movies Buy merch for yourself or those you love at www.teepublic.com/user/werewolfambulance on Reddit at r/werewolfambulance on Facebook at facebook.com/werewolfambulance on Twitter @werebulance on Instagram @werewolfambulance. werewolfambulance@gmail.com If you liked this, please leave us a review on Apple Podcasts or wherever you listen! Starting point is 00:00:00 Alan, Katie. Already. I was just thinking about the movie we're about to the movie. Alan. Katie. Already. Already. I was just thinking about the movie we're about to talk about.
Starting point is 00:00:17 Before we get into it. Yes. It's. Alan? Katie? Already? I was just thinking about the movie we're about to talk about. Before we get into it. Yes, I'm very stoic, no. Okay, put your stoic face on. And can I get a news alert? A bitty-t-teet-tee-tee-t-t-de-de-de-de-doo! Love how funky it is. I have a Savini watch update. What? I have not seen the man recently. Okay. But he did uncover his giant skeleton that lives in the alleyway between his neighbor and his home.
Starting point is 00:00:52 He has one of those 12 foot. Yeah. Yeah, of course he does. He covers it. He's been covering it with a trash bag in the offseason. Or like a very large thing? I know. And I think he probably had to really wedge it in that alley. You know how narrow those things are in my neighborhood?
Starting point is 00:01:09 The tarp is off. The tarp is off! The tarp is off! The tarp on the bird's off! And that's it, really? That's all I've got. Yeah, there's a ghost hanging a butt on the bird fingers. So, I, yeah, I parked the car and I pulled up and I was like, the fuck is Alan doing in the front yard? And then I was like, that's a sheet. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:01:29 It's a literal sheet. It's a sheet with boobs. It's a ghost. Yeah. It has boobs. Why would it goes not have boobs? taking breasts. Well they're just the shape of breast because it's a ghost. But still. Sure, sure. Speaking of Halloween, yeah. What do we have? What do we have? What we have? In our store? Oh, Katie! Like, and he would probably smack me for saying that, but he's a goddamn mench. Real minch. Oh, mench. Anyway, what are we doing this week? Oh, the thing that made me pre-giggle. Sorry for all your reviewers out there.
Starting point is 00:03:20 Just immediately got into the giggling. We're doing the 2021 in theaters and on HBO malignant. Malignant, James Wan. James Wan. So I was using talk to text to narrate my thoughts to my phone while we did. To narrate my thoughts because something's from memoir. Yes, this is my memoir of watching malignant. Every time it spells James Wan, James, and then J-U-A-N is if I was talking about someone named Juan. James and Juan. Before we get into this, if this is your first time listening to a werewolf ambulance, we are about to literally spoil the
Starting point is 00:04:04 living hell out of this movie. Oh yeah. We're going to ruin it. So if you're going to watch it, watch it before you listen. Please, because there's a twist in this movie. It is there? Also we did no research and we didn't even know what the movie was about until we pressed play. So you know that's where we are in terms of knowledge. Yeah, so we're asking you to put in the to the to to the the to to the the to to the to the the to the to to the to their to their to their their to to their their to watch their to watch it their their to watch it, watch it, watch it, watch it, watch it, watch it, watch it, watch it, watch it, watch it, watch it's th. Watch it's the. Watch it's the. we are in terms of knowledge. Yeah so we're asking you to put in a legwork that we would not do ourselves. Precisely. Although we did watch it before we did this episode. We watched it. We're asking them to do exactly what we've asked of ourselves which I think is fair. You're right, you're right. I stand correct. All right. Well here we go. Well that's my first note about malignant. Mine's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's the that's the that's that's the that's that's that's their their their their that's my their their their their their their their their their their their their their their we're their we're their we're their. We're. We're. We're. We're. We're. their. It looked like the Cathedral of Learning. It looked ridiculous. Oh yeah.
Starting point is 00:04:47 When, uh, what's her name, the sister finds it later in the movie, I was like, there's no way this exists, it would be the most Instagram thing ever. For sure. Yeah, and every window would be broken out of it. Oh, God, yes. Teens for miles would flock to it haunted hospital and nothing bad happened to her? Of course. She was like, oh my god, she's going in there. Oh my god, she's going to the basement.
Starting point is 00:05:09 And then the next scene, she's just sitting at her mom's house. I was like, well, good for you, you made it. Did you like, the direction for that the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the the the the the the the the the the the a the a the actress, the actress, the actress, the actress, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, was, the actress, the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the a the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their, their, their, the the the the the the the the the the the was supposed to be like something made of the fact that there's an age gap between them. So instead of making her seem younger, they just made her seem unthinking? Yeah, dimmer? Dimmer. Dimmer is a great way to put it. Oh, so this is, this is my first point of confusion in this movie.
Starting point is 00:05:40 Okay. this is so far in his th in th in th in th in th in th in th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi, thi, thi, thi, thoom- thoom-oom-a, thoomoom-a, thoom-a, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, thoes, thi, thi, thi-a, thi-a, thi-a, thi-a, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. This is so far in his Oove, my favorite James Wan film. One hondo. This is like almost makes up for some of the others. I'll have some later thoughts where I flesh that out a little bit more. So the tone of this opening feels very reminiscent of like, like Reanimator or like Charles Band movies of the early mid-80s. Yeah. It's very like, slapsticky. The murders are gory, but also, like, everyone's getting tossed.
Starting point is 00:06:17 Yes. It was making me think for some reason of the House on Haunted Hill remake from the 90s, yeah. This, this whole building does. Yes. It was a very vibe of that. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. th. th. th. th. th. the th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi- thi-s thi-s. ta tri-s. tri-s. toda ta. tha tha. thi-s. thi-s. thi-s. th. th. th. Haunted Hill remake from the 90s, yeah. This whole building does, for sure. Yes, it was a very vibe of that. Yes, yes, yes, yes. There's such lines as, it was like he was drinking the electricity and controlling our machines, which is like, okay. All right, Doc. Why?
Starting point is 00:06:39 Never mind. There are no wise to be asked in this movie. No. I think, I, as a, as a be answered. I think, as a person who asks why, all the time, I want to be very clear, I'm not going to do it once. Okay. Okay. Well, I probably am, but you don't have to answer them. I got you.
Starting point is 00:06:55 Because this film that does not beg the question why. It is just hours to to watch James one. You know what makes this movie so much better than his other movies? This one knows how stupid it is. Yes, until it doesn't and then it tries to realize that again and I feel like there's a tonal fluctuation that I did not like. Okay we'll get to it. Yes. All right. So there's a doctor that's like he's a monster and we ought to stop him him him him him him him him him him him him him him him him him him him him him him him him him him him him him him him him him him him him. He him. He him. He to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to monster, and we ought to stop him. Talking into a video recorder, and then some guys running in and saying, he's a monster, and we have to stop him. And then they run out to the hallway, and someone's like, it's a monster, gotta stop him. It's this monster who's throwing everybody around,
Starting point is 00:07:35 but it's also a child. He's sure got into a lot of nurses before anything. A lot a lot a lot. A lot. th and th and th and th and th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi's, thoom. thoom's, thi. thi's thoomoomoomoomoomoomoomorrow, thoomoe. thoe. thoing, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toa. toeea. thea. thi. thi. that may have been the same nurse over and over again. I was unclear on that. I just thought maybe they had a lot of 22-year-old dark-haired nurses. And this is where the doctor delivers the line. It's time to cut out the cancer. For the first time. She will say it a number of times. And then the movie says, get it, malignant. Yeah, like a cancer? But there's also the song that's playing is like a five-inch nail song. It also plays several times. I felt like the movie could have been called six. Because it had that flavor of like the seven opening with a nine-inch nail song. Yes. With like shaky cam and scriggity scratches all over the screen.
Starting point is 00:08:25 Absolutely. And then like, for all you death metal fans out there, carcass like filmography of people being cut open and things are moved from them. Right, that's a little Bob Zombie. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yes, it's very Bobbert. So we cut to present day. But she's, did you see that fucking carola?
Starting point is 00:08:49 Present day, 25 years ago. I was infuriated in that. I was like, are you trying to insinuate that the present day is the 80s? Because I find that offensive. For sure. Yeah, but then he, it cuts into the inside of the house and he's just playing on his goddamn cell phone. Yeah, and watch an MMA, which no one was doing in the 80ies. I mean, if you were, you were like a fringe of society. So, is, tell me you're an asshole without saying you're an asshole, laying on bed, your wife's coming in complaining about the baby hurting, and you're like, hmm, what's that mean? Yes, I think that's... That's my MMA, you turnthe worst thing I've ever heard someone say to somebody else
Starting point is 00:09:27 in a movie? I don't even want to put it on the podcast, because I feel like that's a really horrible thing for a person who's had a miscarriage to hear. And I just, I don't think it was very upsetting. This, Derek though. So, this is what I mean by the tonal shift in a movie. Slapsticky opening, that's like borderline goofy. Yes. To horrific domestic abuse.
Starting point is 00:09:51 Right. To a pregnant woman having her head put through a wall. Yeah. Yeah. Too much over the line, smoky. I know you needed to do this because of what's coming later. Yeah. I think James Wan just is only at 11.
Starting point is 00:10:07 Yeah. Although I guess the conjuring is at like a three on, on like, quailudes. You're talking about my favorite movie, what was it? Whistle and clap? Hid and clap. I feel like I'm just doing a notice of reading song over here. and clap whistle and clap. Whistle and clap. I can't remember what they think. Hide and clap. I feel like I'm just doing an Otis Redding song over here.
Starting point is 00:10:28 Anyway, that's a lot of head blood for a pregnant lady. And I feel like someone should check that out. And a head, I mean, a head one's gonna bleed on you. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. But yeah, that was a, hmm, that was a that was, that was, that was A thing I did like is when, so he, uh, Derek, which is also kind of tell me you're an asshole without telling me you're an asshole is by having the name Derek, just kidding, I'm sure there's some Derrick's out there, I'm sure you're lovely, but
Starting point is 00:10:53 like you have to know, right? Uh, he's downstairs sleeping on the couch and something is sort of like, the to-skthere's just a shot of like an invisible butt getting off a seat. Like the cushion just goes back up and I was like, I like that. I like invisible butts. It's menacing him by turning on the blender. Yeah. Opening the fridge door. Yeah. He's like, what the fuck?
Starting point is 00:11:23 Turning on the TV and flip it through the channels. With TV static, like that's a real thing. Yeah. Serrs, this is digital. I like the whole thing where like you can see the outline of whatever it is and then the light comes on and it's gone and that's where you see your invisible butt cheeks. Yeah. But it also felt very James Wan. It felt very insidious. It didn't go full Darth Moll, thankfully. The guy's got a style.
Starting point is 00:11:53 You've got to, uh, he's not going to deviate. And hugely, wildly popular. So I'll drop this now, which is the thing I'm thinking about thin. theory though, you know what I'm saying? Right. I think James Wan movies are to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to about. It was like the Big Bang Theory though, you know what I'm saying? I think James Wan movies are to horror films, what Dave Matthews band is to music, for me. It's competent, sure.
Starting point is 00:12:20 Sure. And it is almost 100% not for me. Yeah. But this movie might be crash. You like that song? I'm not mad at that song. It's catchy. That's not a good, that's not the one, I don't think. What do you? Don't drink the world. No, uh, you know, I don't think. One of the ones we just... Hey, my friend, I see your eyes are glassy. That's not right. That, you. No. That's. That's. That's. That's. That's. That's. That's, that. That's right. That's right. That's right. That's not, that's not right. That's not right. That's not right. That's not right. That's not, that's not, that's not, that's not, that's not, that's not, that's that's. that's not, that's not, that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. that's. Yeah. that's. that. that. that. that. that. that. that. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's that's that's that's that's not, that's not, that's not that's not that I have one. Hey, my friend, I see your eyes are glassy. That's not the... That's not right. The one about the ants. I like the song about the ants.
Starting point is 00:12:54 That's a catchy tune. You know, of course you know. But yeah, he writes a catchy song, you know, but it's just, it's not for us. No. Don't come at us. Internet. I think they're gone. Dave Matthews fans off. I think they got off the internet. Window decals would tell me differently. Where can you even buy that fired answer in the year of our Lord and Savior 2021. I think it just comes standard on certain models of Subaru Forrester. Perhaps a Jeep. Maybe a Volvo. Yeah. Yeah. You can get the Grateful. the Grateful Dead. their. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to. th. to. to. th. th. to. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the the the the the the the th. the the the the th. the the the the the the the th. their. their. their. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. th. to. th. to. to. to. th. to. to. to. te. to. to. to. tod. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. th.. Yeah, oh yeah. Yeah, you can get the Grateful Dead and Dave Matthews bandeditch in Volvo. There's definitely another parent at Lucy's school who has one of those
Starting point is 00:13:31 in their window and I cannot figure out which parent it is. Just, has anybody task? Don't drink this? Don't drink the water, huh? It's not good, see if anyone reacts. Yeah, just see who, like, like, the blood in water? Blood in water? Yeah, don't take, there's blood in there. Why would you put it in your mouth? Anyway. So Derek gets his, he gets his, he gets his comuppens. He has head turns all the way around backwards. It's pretty great. I referred to his neck being broke broke broke. And it's like pretty obvious at this point that it's just like dark Maddy, right. Yeah, the the the the th. th. Yeah, th. th. th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th.. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the, the. the. the, like, dark Maddy, right? Yeah, I have the note, dark Maddy is there. Yeah, dark Maddie, there you go. She's doing like the real Japanese girl move, like, I forget that, uh... Sadako from the ring. Yeah, or Samara from the American ring.
Starting point is 00:14:16 Right, with Naomi Watts. And a horse? That horse that fell off the boat that you loved. Was that the second one? Have we done the second one? What's the... No, that's the first one. Oh my god. Oh right, the second one they get attacked by like a herd of deer. Oh do they? Of course they do. Yeah, I gotta do that someday. I have it on DVD, but it back. I want it anymore.
Starting point is 00:14:45 Trying to like slip it through the automatic doors. They're like, stop it, it's not a return. Maddie wakes up in the hospital. Right after she gets knocked out by the dark Maddie attacking her? Yes, but why would that happen? No idea. No, no, no, no,. Oh yes, we've got Regina. Regina Moss. Regina Moss. And oh gosh, what's the guy's name?
Starting point is 00:15:09 Kecoa Shaw? Keh. Or Ke. Keh. That's a rough nickname. That's rough. That's rough. It's just, hmm?
Starting point is 00:15:17 You're going to fin it? No, you're not going to. OK. I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I I. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OK. OKthe rest of it. So may I make a judgment about these detectives? Oh, I would love for you to do that. Felt straight out of Verodica. In what way? The level of acting that they were giving me. Oh, well, they were looking at things. They weren't doing French accents.
Starting point is 00:15:37 I guess we could think that as a plus. You know what, that's always a plus? that's a plus plus plus. That's a plus. That's a plus. That's a plus. That's a plus. That's a plus. That's a plus. That's a plus. That's a plus. That's a plus. That's a plus. That's a plus. That's a plus. That's a plus. That's a plus. That's a plus. That's a plus. That's a plus. Your life is gone. I cannot wait until we do the Western. I am so stressed about it. Life is so short and this is what I have to do. I was reading reviews of this movie and on Rotten Tomato somebody's review was, if I had not seen the spaghetti Western Glenn Danzig did in the movie theater I would have said this was the worst movie I the the the movie the movie the movie the movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie. the movie. the movie movie. the worst movie. the worst movie. the the the the the the the the the the the the the thi thi thi thi that that that that the that that that that that that that that's that's that's that's life that's life that that that that that that that that that's life. that's life of that's life of that's life of that's life of that's life of that's life of that's life of that's life of of that's that's the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their their their their their their their life. their their life. their life. their life of their life. their not seen the spaghetti western then Glenn Danzig did in the movie theater, I would have said this was the worst movie I saw in the theater this year. Starting point is 00:16:37 Spaghetti Western. But most movies you gotta wait to find out who the vampire is. In this movie, they're all vampires. You're also, counterpoint. I don't feel I've ever had to wait to find out who the vampire is. They usually just go, ha! Then you know. What's Christopher Lee? Always the vampire. Oh, I see.
Starting point is 00:17:01 Count Dracula. Anyway, so the cops are talking to each other. And one of them says to the other, all the hand patterns are upside down like the perp was hanging from the ceiling and I thought that's very good. I like that a lot. Good use of perp. Perp. Yeah, well I watch a lot of cop't do, I can't do that accent.
Starting point is 00:17:29 I can't say ma'am without it just sounding like I'm ordering at a restaurant. Yes ma'am. They'll say mom. Mom. Sounds like they're talking their moms. Mom. Mom. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:37 Just said all right, mate. Good job, that. Yes, Alan and I have I have have have have have have have have have have have have have have have have have have have have have have have have have have have have have have th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. to to to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. tha. to. to. to. to-. to-. to-a. to-. to. to-. to. to. to. to. to. to Alan and I have watched all six seasons of line of duties. Honestly, I like drop my phone.
Starting point is 00:17:57 I couldn't take it. This is where I have a note this that says this feels like a well articulated Dan Zeg film. Oh my God. Or a Tyler Perry Presents. Oh my God. Because of it's so melodramatic. Yes. I think purposefully. For sure.
Starting point is 00:18:16 And I think that, again, like, someone tweeted at us saying that this may have been a dark comedy. I think it is. But like, if so, it's too dark. It just, yeah, it walks away from the comedy sometimes in a way that is very uncomfortable. That line that we will not say on the show is the most fucking vile thing that I could think of saying to another human, like. Yeah, it almost, yeah, it made me want to throw up. It was, I was just like, no, I don't not even yeah. Yeah I mean you can make that guy a bad guy without him saying that. Yeah yeah yeah yeah I mean throwing her head into the wall was sufficient. Yeah that's sad enough. Anyway she's like I'm
Starting point is 00:18:56 going back to my house and her sister's like oh you shouldn't but it's like the first James one must have grown up in a house that looks like this right or they just have one set the th house the house the house the house the house the house the house the house the house the house the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Or that one that CM Punk tried to renovate with all Jizz House, LLC. I think Jizz House. The girl up Jizz. Oh my God.
Starting point is 00:19:32 So yeah, she goes home. We learned that her and her sister have been estranged because Derek was a dick and wouldn't let them be together. Yes. And she's lost the baby, which is very sad. Yes, awful. When we find out why later, it's it's it's it's it's it's is thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi. thi. that's thi. thi. that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's thi. that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that. that. that. that's. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. t. t. t. t. t. too. too. t. t. too. t. t. too. t. too. that's. that's. that's out why later it's infuriating. Yeah, I mean, and that's the thing that Tern like gives her strength too, which just feels a little like James. I worry that James Wan doesn't know many women. Yeah. Yeah. He and two women wrote this movie. I noticed that. One of them is his partner, I think. And one of them is the actress, who may be his partner, I'm not sure, who's the like one who's the fawning over K. K. K.
Starting point is 00:20:11 Oh, the sister? No, no, no, um, or the, the, the, the, like, forensics. Yeah. I'm glad they're mad. I think our main character. Winnie. Winnie, sorry, yes, thank you. Well, I don't know. I just feel there were some misses there from a women's perspective. Do you think like he was like, no, actually. I do. There's a lot of shots in this movie I like though, like there's an overhead shot of her running through the house where the cameras on the ceiling, like on a track. For sure. Starting point is 00:21:09 Yes, the one that I've had an eighth of. Madison and Sydney are both cutest buttons, though. Oh yeah, for sure. Uh, Madison is not an American. Why are we doing this? She's also not a th not a th not a also not a blonde, that's a hell of a wig she's wearing. Yeah, that dark wig is rough on her. She's a beautiful woman, gorgeous woman. When I watched Peaky Blinders, I was like, she is so incredibly beautiful. Oh, I didn't realize she was in Piki Blinders. Yeah, Oh, I didn't really. Oh, I didn't really? Oh, I'm a great. Yeah, she's the main love interest in like the first season or whatever. Yeah, she's so British though.
Starting point is 00:21:45 You know, phenomenally British. Yeah. Yeah. Stop. I wish immigrants was up taking her jobs. So I hope this is not someone's first time listening to this podcast. The views of Katie do not necessarily reflect the views of Katie. Yeah, I say things I don't mean him.
Starting point is 00:22:06 Maddie is doing laundry and all of a sudden, Dr. Weaver is in her washing machine? Yeah, yeah, it's weird. That's weird. It's weird. She was like in the washing machine or behind the door, like I couldn't even get the perspective right to figure out where I was seeing Dr. Weaver. It was so weird because her face in the washing machine looked like she was on the TV. Yes. But then you could see her lower body. Her legs, yeah. And I was like, what is going on? And then the room like fizzle melts away and she's in Dr. Weaver's and witnessing, let's call it dark Maddie, Dark Maddie, beating her to death with her swore to ward.
Starting point is 00:22:46 Yeah, who makes an award that's so dangerous? Because what have you tripped off the stage when you were accepting it and impaled yourself? That would be awful. Knowing me, I'd go to adjust my glasses and just played it right between my eyes. Luckily you got that award for reconstructive surgery, so I guess you can sort it. I liked that room melting effect though I thought it was very like fun to watch even though they do it like four or five
Starting point is 00:23:09 times you're like oh here we go the room is melting. Yeah and the like the camera spinn't. Camera cannot stay still in this movie. There's not a still shot I feel like it's just constantly spinning. Swiveling. Yeah. So she see yeah she sees Dr. Weaver the the the the th. Weaver. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah. Yeah. Weaver be murdered. Yes. And then she's talking to her sister, like the next day or something maybe? And she just says so matter of factly, she's like mom and dad took me in when I was eight. I don't remember anything before that. And you're like, wait, what? You have never discussed that you were adopted up until this point? Sydney, I was adopted. Like if I said that to one of my younger th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th to to to to thi to to to thi thi thi to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to th. th. the the th. the the the the the th. the th. the th. the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the th. th. th. the th. th. the thi thi thi. thi. thi the thi thi te to tod to thi thi to to thi thi thi the thi the thi the thi I was adopted. Like if I said that to one of my younger relatives now, they wouldn't believe me, you know what I mean? She just says it like, it's so matter-factly. You said that to me now I'd be like, just now coming out? Just now coming out. Like, if she knew she was adopted, why did they hide it from Sydney? You know? Her mother seems like a fine person. Sure. So why was Sidney kept in the dark?
Starting point is 00:24:14 You look nothing like the other members of the family. Also you're British. I this is one problem that I think we have with the James Wanian approach of never having Anything more than a second dimension to a character. Yeah, there's no depth of these characters So when she's like I was adopted. Yeah, it's like if you don't have to put it on the screen why I think about it for sure and which doesn't always work or ever No, no. No, hmm. So we cut to a woman doing a woman doing a tour. This is taking place in Seattle and she's doing sort of the underground city tour. Right, right, right. It's a pretty spooky job. You're down there alone at night, locking up. From what I understand though, it's, it's not a lot of it, the underground Seattle,
Starting point is 00:24:58 and it's not like, every time I've seen it, there's been like, thrown, theythey's, thininininininininininin, thirty, thirty, thirty, thirty, thirty, thirty, thirty, thirty, thirty, thirty, thirty, thirty, thirty, thirty, thirty, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, thirty, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, likethere's been like, people can jump down four stories to do a thing, and it's only like a floor of street. I assumed that was actually it. I don't believe so. Oh, interesting. Because there was a- That's beat, not good enough for you James Wanne to do the real thing? There was a Colchak episode where he goes to, uh, underground in Seattle. Oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, the night's, oh, oh, oh, the night's. Oh, the night's. Oh, the night's. Oh, the night's. Oh, the night's. Oh, the night's. Oh, the night's. Oh, the night's. Oh, the night's. Oh, the night's. Oh, the night's the night's the night's the night's the night stalker, the night's the night's the night's the night's the night's the night's the night's the night's the night's the night's the night's the night's the night's night stalker. Not to be confused with Richard Ramirez. Our nightstalker.
Starting point is 00:25:25 Well, not my night stalker. And then I saw I was like looking it up and they were like, no. That's not what it looks like. Calm down everybody. But it makes for a cool like thing to be in a movie. Yes, but it doesn't, I guess that's where I'm beefing is that it has no relation to the story except that it's a spooky area so like just use the real thing. Yeah. You know what I mean? Or any abandoned part of the city. Yeah, totally.
Starting point is 00:25:53 But it's also like if you're in Seattle, talk about the fact that the city's built on the city, it's cool. It's a neat thing. It's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, it's like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, a the they. Yeah, they. Yeah, they. Yeah, they. Yeah, they. Yeah, they. Yeah, they. Yeah, they. Yeah, they. Yeah, they a lake. What? There's like some areas where like they flooded towns to put up dams. And there'll be like, like there's a lake in northeastern PA where there's a church underneath of the lake. Nuh. Yeah, and if the water level goes down, supposedly you can see the steeple sticking out of it. No. I don't believe that for a thiiiiiiiiiiiiiii. that's that's that's thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thoom. thoom. thi. thi. the. there's like there's like there's like there's like there's like there's like there's like there's like there's like there's like there's like there's like there's like there's like there's like there's like there's like there's like their their their their their their their their their their their their thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the. theat. theateateat. thea. thea. thea. thea. there's like there's like thea. there's like there's like there's like how I found out recently, not recently, is probably like a couple years ago at this point, but there's a Pennsylvania Statue of Liberty. Have you ever seen it?
Starting point is 00:26:28 It's in Harrisburg? Of course. And it's just, just Google image search, Pennsylvania Statue of Liberty. It will blow your fucking mind. Is it the Rinaldo effect? No, it looks just like it like it, it's just, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, th. It's, it's, it, it, in the middle of a river. Is it like the New York, New York? Just give it a goo. Okay, I'll give it a goo. I think I should have honeymooned there.
Starting point is 00:26:51 I love it so much. I've never seen it in real life. Did you know the Pennsylvania also has a Grand Canyon? Yeah, I's so great. It's so fucking good. It is, it's, I think I am taller than that statue of Liberty. I mean, I'm gonna say it's about six feet. I have no idea how tall it actually is.
Starting point is 00:27:13 It doesn't look very tall at all. No. She's cool though. Yeah, she's lady liberty. Love you, Lady Liberty. So, back to this movie. Sorry, I was trying to figure out how tall she was. Oh, 25 feet, 25 feet. Yeah, like I said, I'm about as tall as her. I feel like how you always have to get down and crawl through doors, like Dark Maddie.
Starting point is 00:27:37 So, yes, Dark Maddie kidnaps this woman for reasons unknown. It took me. I never, like, when they revealed who she was, I was like, oh, okay, because you through the, for most of the movie, you're like, who the fuck are you? So I figured it out, and you know I'm shit at this, I never figure fucking anything out. Yeah. I figured out what's going on in the movie in the first scene. Me too. And I figured out who the movie, thi th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th th th. th th th. th th. th. th. For th. For th. For th. For the th. For the the the the the th. For th. For th. For th. For th. For th. For th. For th. For th. For th. For th. For th. For th. For th. For th. For th. For th. For most, for most the. For most the. For most, for most, for most, for most, for most, for most, for most, for most, for most, for most, for most, for most, for most, for most, for most, for most, for most, for Maddie have the same bangs. I thought, well at first I was like, what happened? Is this another Maddie? Is this old Maddie? Is it like a different Maddie? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. So then we see the chubby guy from the hospital in the beginning getting killed. Well, she, so first Dark Maddy, did you say that she chained her up in an attic so she's strung up like the like a mast head on a ship. Yes yes. Very upsetting. This is very Darry Orogento
Starting point is 00:28:32 specifically the film opera I think is being referenced here. Okay. Also Dark Maddie is all black gloves and leather and looks like they could have shopped at a hot topic to do this stuff. Dark Maddie is the goth kid in your high school who is like even gothier than you. Yeah, yeah, who's probably on a watch list from the principal of the high school. So yes, then we see the chubby guy is getting killed. The chubby guy? Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. I couldn't tell if he was a nurse or a doctor. There were three doctors that had treated her. It was the woman and the two men. Gotcha. Gotcha. And so at this moment I figure out what's going on,
Starting point is 00:29:12 that Dark Maddie is killing off everybody that's in the hospital. And I said, is this basket case? It is, it's a basket case! And do you know how much I love basketcase? I know! What a great movie! It's so fucking fun. But the thing about Basket case? Yeah. You learn to love those characters. You get depth of those characters. Sure. Well, yeah, more so than this. You spend a lot of time at bars drinking with those characters. That's sure, you're right. There are a lot of the the, the the th, th, th, th, th, th than this. You spent a lot of time at bars drinking with those characters. That's true, you're right, there are a lot of just drinking in bar scenes. Going on giggle dates by the Statue of Liberty
Starting point is 00:29:52 with those characters. The real Statue of Liberty. Not one as tall as me. But so Maddie wakes up in the bed which I really like that scene of her falling a sli. Yes yes th. Yes th. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. Yes. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. tho tho tho th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. tho. the. tho. tho. tho. tho. room. Yes, super spooky. Yeah. Yeah. We learned that they were experts in what they call child reconstructive surgery, which just seems like a very odd way to phrase it. I could have taken pediatric reconstructive surgery, but child reconstructive surgery sounds like you're like the child fell apart and you're stitching it back together. It was like I was writing the script and just couldn't find the word I actually want it. You were like control, uh, highlight I will come back to this. Whoops, what's different? Sir, you just left Peewey we constructive surgery in there. Little baby guys. But I do like that weapon forging scene of taking the excellence trophy and carving it down.
Starting point is 00:30:46 Because there's a point to this movie that become like action movie montages. Oh, and then there's a point where it becomes a full-blown action movie for a little bit. I really enjoyed that. Sure. If I'm being honest with you. Yeah. The, I don't know if it was CG or how they did the stunts on that, but it was really neat. Yeah. So at this point we've seen that Doc Maddy is moving backwards. Yes, I love the way the character moves too. I think it's really good. I think it's really clever and interesting. Yeah. Yeah, and it's and it's, it's good spookery. It's great spook. Because it's like it's off pudding and it's like, that's not how's supposed to go at all. No it's just something in your brain is like oh that's not right. Like when they take off running and it looks ridiculous but
Starting point is 00:31:29 it's also like ew. Yes, do that. Ew. So that's like cool and inventive but then there's it like a thing where one of the doctors sees like wet footprints moving through his house and you're like, God damn it, James Wan. I saw these movies already. The one scene where Maddie is walking in on the steps and a kid runs through her house, and I was just like, James, James, James Wan, get in here, I need to talk to you. Children laughing is not frightening. Or running.
Starting point is 00:31:57 That's what they do, they run and laugh. If it was a newsy, I would have lost my mind. Going over and playing the phonograph. Bada-da-da-da-da-da-da-da-da! Why? So, Maddie goes and tells the cops that she's seen this crime. Yes. And it's at the, there's a sign across the street, the silver something or other. Right, she has sort of seen the vision of the window that this is happening through and the
Starting point is 00:32:26 cops like you dumb piece of shit let's go check it out but also Sydney's there and the guy cop is just like uh and she's like uh but I like that Sydney really goes to bat for her sister and I like I was glad that Maddie had a Sydney and I felt like I was going to be sorry to see her die. Yes. And then I remembered I was watching a James Wan movie where no characters of import ever die because I think he's just afraid of that reality. Yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And it's very fast and furious.
Starting point is 00:32:53 And that's very fast and furious. Family. Family. Family. Car's ghosts. Ghosts. And ghost butts. Ghost butts as we've seen. And that's why I have the note, the ladies loved Detective Kikoa. He seems squirrely to me. They find the dead guy after they go through a couple apartments. Right. I like this room because it's just like, yeah, let's not fuck around.
Starting point is 00:33:16 Just find it. It's fine. Yeah, the cops are like, I guess we'll check it out. we'll check it out. What else do we have to do, you know? We're putting a Bolo on Sloth from the Goonies. I thought that was kind of funny. Sorry, what's a Bolo? I don't know. Be on the lookout. Oh, Jess came to me. Isn't that a Botlow? Be on Botlo. Be on lookout. Well maybe because you don't capitalize the, if it were a movie title. It doesn't matter. It doesn't th. It doesn't th. th. th. th. th. th th. th. th th th th th th th th th th th that th that that that that that that that that that loo. that loo. that that that- tho. tho. that that that that that that that that that that that that that that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that's th. Be. Be th. Be th. Be th. Be th. Be th. Be th. Be th. Be th. Be th. Be th. th. th. th. th. that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that th, if it were a movie title, you wouldn't capitalize the tea. It doesn't matter. It doesn't matter. Finally, Maddie's like, maybe I'll go ask mom and dad where I came from. Or I'll go ask mom where I came from. And it's like, she's out there making casseroles for you and shit.
Starting point is 00:33:56 How did it take you so long to ask? Oh, mom seems so sweet? to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to me me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, the the the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, they. they. they. they. they. they. th. th. to me, maybe, maybe, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me, to me. to me, to me, to me, to me, But we see these home videos that are real paranormal activity, creepy kid shit, which I was like, James, well and I saw you make these movies too, because I'm always sure he made the paranormal activity movies. They do feel like it should be in his oovre. Yeah, he didn't though. But they are not. No, yeah. And a lot of people die in thrown. Yeah, she'd be my giveaway. Is this before, doesn't she get the communication from Gabriel,
Starting point is 00:34:25 where he says, hello, Emily? Oh, yes, my notes are kind of all over the place because I was just yelling into my phone. But yeah, it's when she's in the police station, he calls her cell phone. Yeah. I'm only in your head. Didn't they tell you? I'm just a figment of your imagination? scream voice, which I like. He's a hundred percent during the screen voice. I kind of like I feel like this movie is James Wan being like, huh? It's a scream? Yeah. Yeah, yeah,
Starting point is 00:34:50 except all the characters of Import Dive. I'm living in your head. All right. Rent-free. Is that what the kid say? Are they still saying that? And she's like, Gabriel? And she's not supposed to know that name? No, and then she's shocked the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the! She's not supposed to know that name. No, and then she's shocked that she knows the name. So in the kid, the creepy kid paranormal activity videos, we find out that Gabriel is her imaginary friend who, I don't know, tell her to do bad things. Yeah, he talks to a birthday party? Yeah. She's like blowing out her candles, and Gabriel's like, ma'am, I. I. I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I th, I th, I th, I th, I th, Ithings. He talks to a birthday party? Yeah. She's like blowing out her candles and Gabriel's like, Ma-ma-ma-ma. Gabriel, give for this fucking moment. It's her moment. Technically it is Gabriel's birthday too. Legit? I'm sorry, I didn't think of that. She should just sput around let Gabriel blow up a candle. With his flailing arms, I'm sorry, I love Gabriel. Spoiler alert for later. So they realize there was a third
Starting point is 00:35:48 doctor, I guess that could be a target maybe. I don't know why. Oh, this is when the cops realized that Maddie was the doctor's patient. Right, right. Because they have the file that has a picture of her. Oh, no, I'm sorry. He gets the slacker in the office to age up the photograph of the young girl. th th th th th the young the young the young the young the young girl the young girl the young girl the young girl the young girl the young girl the young girl the young girl the young girl the young that has a picture of her. Oh no, I'm sorry, he gets the slacker in the office to age up the photograph of the young girl that's with the doctors who looks exactly like Maddie with the same bangs. It's just her DMV photo with the bangs. Yes, well she had those bangs as a child, you have bangs as an adult. Sure, sure. That's what that one song about, she banks. Oh my god, I love Ricky Martin. She banks for life. That's, God it makes me so sad that he had to pretend to be straight. Sure. Like who
Starting point is 00:36:31 watched the Live in Levita Loco video and was like, no that dude wants to fuck chicks. But I mean, it just sucks. It sucks, it sucks, the 90s sucked. I mean, and everything before. Yeah. So I was gonna say George Michael also had a rough, yeah. Yeah, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it's th, it's th, it's th. It's th. It's th so on, it's th so on, it's th so on, it's th so on, it's th so on, it sucks, the 90s socked. I mean, and everything before suck. Yeah, so I was gonna say George Michael also had a rough rough run of it. Um, but yeah, like, it's just like, yeah, doy, that's why all the, the fuck? A toy. And I always want to think that police have like some super special database where they have our information, but he straight up just Googles this person's address. Oh, I forgot to say, the slacker he tells him to age the photo forward and he just hands them a photo of Maddie. Yeah, it's so funny. It sucks, it's great.
Starting point is 00:37:13 And I have to believe that that's on purpose because it's just funny. It has to be. Like they couldn't be like, this too on the nose. But I was like, is this your sense of humor, James Wann? I think it is. I think so. I think, I hope so. I want to believe in, I want to believe in the best of James Wan. Because it feels very lifetime movie at this point. Oh, it definitely does. Yeah. Mm-hmm. So there's another murder of the third doctor, he's killed in his bathtub. The doctor, no one, he doesn't have a line, no one gives a shit about him. I forget, it doesn't matter, he might have a name, it matters not. But so Maddie finds herself in the bathroom with the corpse. Yes.
Starting point is 00:37:57 And then the detective comes running in. Does he actually see Maddy and Dark Maddy there? No. He only and Dark Maddie there? No. He only sees Dark Maddie? Yes. Okay. At this point we're under the illusion that Maddie is just there in her mind. Okay.
Starting point is 00:38:13 Because there's even like a reverb on her voice where she's like, it's still in the room. Right, right. Okay. And this is when it becomes like an action movie chase scene. It's redonculus. I assume that that that that that that that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's onculus. I assume that that's what like every Marvel movie is. Oh yeah, 100%. People parcoring up buildings for sure or a James Bond movie these days or yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, I liked it a lot because the Dark Maddie is jumping down the fire escape but doing it backwards. Yes, it's so good. Catching themselves in reverse. Yes. And it looks painful as hell. It looks so creepy. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And then when the cop gets down to the last
Starting point is 00:38:52 one, he's like, oh, fuck, what am I doing? And he jumps down and lands ribs first on a trash can. Okay, so I was wondering that if you're, you know you're going to fall, should you try to land on your shoulder the shoulder the shoulder the shoulder. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. to, to, to, to, the, to, the, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to be the th. to to to to to to to to to th. th. they. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. to, to, to, the. to, the. the. the. the. the. the. to land on your shoulder. Is that like a thing you're like a... I thought maybe that would... Yeah, because if you're like charging a door you hit it with your shoulder. No, you fucking kick it. I'm so sick of people, we have had this fight so many times. Donkey kick that door. Anyway, I just take off running. You don't want to land on your feet if you call from a great height.
Starting point is 00:39:32 You fall from a great height. You don't. Go on your shoulder. You'll be fine. Go face first. Your teeth will catch it. Oh, no. No. That's that. That. That. That. That. that. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. tha. tha. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to to to toe. toe. toe. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. too. the the the the the. te. te. te. te. te.a.a.a. te. te.a. te. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe. toe.'s harsh. But like if you had to jump 10 feet down to on top of a dumpster, how are you doing? Knees? Well, I'm going to hang from the thing because then I lose like, you know, four feet of... Well, more than that. But you don't have time to hang, you've got to hang from my fingertips and then drop. Okay. Yeah. And they'd be like, oh, shucked. You got away. Wait, 10 feet that's like a story of a building. Yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah. Oh, yeah.
Starting point is 00:40:10 Oh, yeah. How about 20 feet? What about 20 feet? What about 30 feet? I'm going to shoulder first. Oh, I'm just got a belly. to lay it on your belly. the belly. the belly. the belly. the belly. Yeah. the belly. Yeah. the belly. Yeah. the belly. Yeah. t. t. t. t. t. t. the. t. the. t. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. Wait. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. t. te. te. te. te. te. te. te. te.? Oh my god. Have you fallen ever on your tailbone? I forgot I had a spine. I forgot I had a spine. It's like a buzzer that lets you know you've done something wrong. Oh, no, I've never had a tailbone injury. I've had a lot of head injuries because I always go head first. Oh, I fall on ice all the time and land right on my coxas and then just walk around for a while going, ah, because it's just it's like the funny bone of your butt. I've always been able to do a mid-air twist, land on a hip.
Starting point is 00:40:51 Oh, shit. On shoulder. Yeah, the hip is just your shoulder of your lower body. Y'all didn't know you were going to get an anatomy lesson out of this tissue. No, you've got it. So you. No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, no, you th th th th th th thi thi thi thi, you've got it. So, you've got it. So, you've got it. So, th th th th thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I I thi, I I I thi, I I thi, I I thi, I I I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I thi, I've thi, I've thi. I'm thi. I'm th th th thi. th th th thi. th th th, jumping, ducking, sluicing through the underground of Seattle. Super spooky of Gabriel to set off the smoke machines down there. What was that? What? Do you remember then Insidious when he goes to the outside plate? What is it the over there? Yeah, the underneath the yeah, the far-off? How smoky-no-zone? W floors were? Why does he love a smoky floor? It's just so creepy. Is it? There's a good scene earlier where the street lake goes off across the street and you see a dark shape walking out of the fog that I really liked. I do like that. Yeah. But just having like
Starting point is 00:41:40 eight inches of thick, dense fog. Right. Like you expect wasp to come out and start playing. I don't know what that that that th th th th th th the the the the the the the the the th the the th th the th thi thi the the thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi tho tho their their their thoooo thooomky the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho thoooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo th. th. th. thick, dense fog. Right, like you expect wasp to come out and start playing. I don't know what that means. It's their heavy metal band from the 80s. Okay. Um, what was the heavy metal, the black roses? Yes. That's why I imagined coming in. Yeah, but- Dude just loves a fucking smoke machine.
Starting point is 00:41:59 Eight inches of fog around two stagecoaches is a little less creepy. Yeah, because I sort of forgot what where they were and I was like where they get those cars? Oh, they got tall cars? Yeah, it's weird. So he, I guess dark Maddie gets away right? Right, right. And then despite still thinking she might be the killer, Detective Shaw shares all of the evidence with Maddie. I don't think that's how that works. And then they say, we've got a hypnotherapist. Let's get you hypnotized.
Starting point is 00:42:41 And hypnotherapy ensues. Thoughts on hypnotherapy? I mean, it's a horror movie thing. Yeah, I don't think it's a real thing. I mean, it's also an X-files thing, I guess. Sure. I mean, I think, I mean, hypnosis is certainly real. Is it? Yeah, it like, it can really help people. Sure. But I think it's a therapeutic tool, yeah. Yeah, but it's like a placebo effect. It's like chiropractory. Whoa, wait. First of all, like I know this is now our medical podcast.
Starting point is 00:43:13 I don't believe in chiropractors. But I don't think that's a placebo either. I think I can't really crack a lack on. No, I think I th k I think I think I think I think I th. No, I th. I th. I thi I thi. I thi. I thi. I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I know, I that's, I that's, I that's, I that's, I that's, I that's, I that's, I that's, I that's, I that's, I'm that's, I'm that's, I'm that's, I'm that's, I'm that's that's. that's. that. that. that. that, I th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. th. th. thi. th. thi. th. thi. th. know. No, I think there's something real for in hypnosis. Okay. I know someone who had like a, I forget, I'm going to. Yeah. I know people have been cured from smoking and stuff like that by hypnosis, but I always just thought it was like a psychosomatic thing.
Starting point is 00:43:33 They're like you believed it so it worked. Well, I guess if it works, it works, it's like, it's, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, it, that, that, that, that, that, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I, I, I'm, I'm, I forget, I forget, I forget, I forget, I'm, I'm, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I th. I that, I th. I th. I th. I forget, I forget, I forget, I forget, I forget, I forget, I forget, I forget, I forget, I forget, that, that, that, that, I forget, I forget, I'm that, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I'm like, I no. I think prayer and hypotherapherapy are on different ends of a spectrum. There is a scientific, there's been scientific studies that prove that people who pray feel better about the outcome of things and people who don't. Because they just believe that things are going to turn out in their favor. Because they talk to Jesus. But when they talk to Jesus, then, when they can't always. You know the get out of jail free card that Jesus has right? What's that? Lord works in mysterious ways? Hey, speaking of, did you see the portrait of real Jesus that was out on the internet this week? It was like someone had taken all of the like genetic markers of what they
Starting point is 00:44:18 like basically made an AI image of what they thought Jesus would look like based on geography and all these other factors and he was smoking hot. I'm typing in portrait of real Jesus. Portrait of real Jesus? No! No! What the fuck? That does look like Kenny Logins? Wait! I'm just going to search for AI Jesus. Why is that Jesus laughing so hard? I love the Kenny Loggins Jesus. Why is that Jesus laughing so hard? I love the Kenny Loggins Jesus. Oh my God. Here, this is AI Jesus. Oh, okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, would.
Starting point is 00:44:55 You're not gonna... You know what? One of the related images is that terrifying thing you sent me. Shit just showed me. Kenny Logins? No. I am terrified of Kenny Loggins. I don't know if I ever told you that or not. Ah, Kenny Logans is the greatest.
Starting point is 00:45:13 So she gets the hypnotherapy and like remembers everything? I don't even remember what happens in, oh, this is where she has like the flashback about, is this where she has the flashback about... That Gabriel wanted her to kill Sidney in the womb? Yes. Okay. Yeah, yeah, yeah. And she kind of comes out of hypnosis and is like,
Starting point is 00:45:34 oh, I didn't need Gabriel anymore once I had you. Yeah. Which is like a lot of pressure for Sidney, I felt, but okay. She also says the killer thi k k k k k k k k k k k k k k k k k k k k k k k k k. thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the the. the. the. theeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeeee. that that that that that that that that that deep in the back of my head. Yeah, I mean at this point you already know. So many people didn't! Really? People were surprised. Do they think her head just kept bleeding? And that she, a person who had been wearing scrubs in an earlier scene, who is clearly some sort of medical professional, just let her head wound keep bleeding?
Starting point is 00:46:02 One of the detective says, wait, are you saying the killer is your imaginary friend? Regina is so sassy when she says those things to you. Yes, she's definitely an archetype, huh? A little bit. Oh, so the hostage in the attic breaks free while this is happening. Right. And falls through the ceiling of Maddie's house. Yeah, that's a pretty, yeah, that's a big. That's, the, are, are, are, are, are, are, are, are, are, are, are, are the?? Are, are the killer? Are, are the killer? Are, are the killer? Are, are the killer? Are, are you, are you, are the killer? Are, are you, are the killer? Are, are the killer. Are, are, are the killer, are you, are you. Are, are the killer, are the killer, are, are, are, are, are, are, are, are the killer. Are, are the killer. Are, are the killer. Are, are the killer. Are, are the killer. Are, are the killer. Are, are, are the killer. Are, are, are, are the killer? Are, are, are the killer? Are, are the killer? Are, are the killer? Are, are the killer? Are, are the killer? Are the killer? Are the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the free. Well, this is happening. Right. And falls through the ceiling of Maddie's house. That surprised me. I didn't know I was his Maddie's attic. I did not expect that to happen.
Starting point is 00:46:32 I thought that she was going to be in the Seattle Underground. Because why else did he keep going back to the Seattle Underground? Was it literally just because she was an employee there. Okay. And then there's a weird like rip-off of where is my mind playing? Did you notice that? Like the piano version of the version? Yeah, very strange. Yeah, because I was like, I know this. What is this? I know this? Yeah, no, it's where's my mind? But it also isn't. Where's my mind? Where's my mind? Where's my mind? No, No, this is the version where we do, where's my mind? Oh I see, I thought you were correcting me and I was like, sir! What have I ever corrected you? Truly. More, less often than you ought to. But yeah, I really like that. I thought that was a really rewarding, like payoff, twisty thing.
Starting point is 00:47:26 Absolutely. Especially when you know what the twist is going to be and you're like, mm-hmm, I'm not going to be rewarded or paid off. No, it is a reward. But then that also just makes something Maddie. Yes, because they find the coat of dark mad. The punching statue knife. This punching statue knife, which is a cool looking weapon and if you hashtag I found that it's out today if you hashtag malignant on Instagram or no on Twitter that symbol shows up next to it. Oh that little like knifey thing cool. Yeah, so we're in this police interview with Maddie. Yeah, and Gabriel calls on the phone
Starting point is 00:48:05 calls the detective's phone I think right. Yeah. And like the other detective pulls out her phone and starts recording and I was like, were you not recording this interview with a suspected serial killer? What now? What? You have to put the tape in, wait for the tone toe toe and then you start talking. Question about line of line? Why is that tone so long? For the DIR, I'm asking this question. So Steve can look furtively and then someone who's guilty can drink water. God, that show has a formula. All you line of duty heads out there know what we're talking about? Yeah. All you bent coffers. I care about one thing All you bent coppers. I care about one thing and one thing only.
Starting point is 00:48:48 Bent coppers. And ruining my marriage. Oh, bad investments. So now, yeah, we're, then we get the call. And the detective does a thing that no one ever does. What's that? Answer is a phone call from unknown. Yeah, who would? But it's also static-e on his phone, which I don't understand, because static isn't a thing anymore.
Starting point is 00:49:11 But okay. I gotta adjust the vertical of my phone. Hold on me right back. What if you just had like rabbit ears on your phone? It's got to be an attachment you can get. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. It the the the the the the the the think some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some some stinkinkinkinkinkinkinkinkinkinkinkinkinkinkinkinkinkers. Oh, thinkink, to to thi-a'er's steampunkers made it. Oh my God, please don't. What does Gabriel even say? I don't have any notes on that.
Starting point is 00:49:29 Oh, nope, I don't have any notes on that one either. Must have been important. The lights go out in the interrogation room. Right. And this shot looks awesome. Yes. With Maddie is just like glowing white-faced with her real dark hair like fading into the background, which I really liked. But it's also very on the nose of like Maddie is fading away. You're like, oh no no I know.
Starting point is 00:49:52 And it's an extremely James Wani-in shot as well. Oh for sure. What's the sister's name? Sidney. It goes on the case. She's got to go find the information at the abandoned hospital. I find it so hard to believe that Sidney doesn't have a friend who would go to that place with her. Not a damn friend. Her only friend is her sister that she just reunited with last week. Yeah, that's only friend. That seems crazy to me.
Starting point is 00:50:14 And she just gets in and out of that basement. I just thought, well, that's waks, that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's they. that's they. they. they. that's their. their. their. their. their. that's their. that's th. th. that's. thi. that's. that's. their. thi. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. that's. their. their. We. We. their. We. We. We. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. She's. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. that's. that's. that's. th. that's. that's. th. th. th. th. Walks out, goes to her mom's house. So what she gets from the hospital are VHS tapes of interviews and treatments that Maddie received. Right, right. And her mom calls him lying cock knock knockers. Cock knock knockers. What is a cock knock knock. I don't know but I do like it. I hope it's not offensive. Yeah. And while this is all going on, there's tough ladies in a holding cell that are given Maddie the business. I'm sorry, but I just don't believe adult women would act that way to her. Like, I think this is what I'm talking about, James Wan not quite getting women, because I just don't think that would... tha. tha. tha. thuuuuu. thu. thu. thu. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, tho, tho, tho, thi, thi, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, thi, thi, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. thi. thi. thiiiiii. thi. thii. thi. thi. thi, thi, thi, that would, I mean like I've never been in a holding tank with people I didn't know, but I just don't think that would, I just don't think that would happen. I'm sorry I need to go to the friends only
Starting point is 00:51:11 holding tank. Yeah, well I had, well, well, whatever. There was enough of us arrested it once. Uh, I'd never been arrested. Good for you all. to that thi th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th that thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi that that that that that that that thi that that that that's that's that's that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that that thi. But thi. But thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi that would that that that that that that that nerd. So there's a fight in the holding cell when... It's bad shit. Yeah. And it goes on for a really long time. She slaughtered, well she is like, this isn't even, Mattie has like lost control of her self. And Dark Maddie is just slaughtering these women, like, I don't know, 30 of them? Where is the guard?
Starting point is 00:51:47 And do we see Gabriel's face at this point? We have at some point, because it looks kind of good. Yeah, it looks like she has some ground beef in the back of her. Yeah, it's a little ground beef, uh, old tree look. Oh, that meat oak that I have in the backyard. I wish I had a tree that grew meat. Stinks in the summer, but you can just freeze it. So, we go back to the videos and they're like, oh, we have to excise the teratoma, which
Starting point is 00:52:18 is basically the, the conjoined, not even a conjoin. Parasitic twin. Who is on the back of Maddie's head. There's just like some arms and legs sticking off of it, which is just so unbelievably good. And a exposed rib cage. Yeah. Why would they not excise that immediately?
Starting point is 00:52:40 Like, why did they let her hang out with it for so long? To get to eight? Why? Why? Why? Okay, I said I wasn't gonna do this, but why? They shared a brain, but seemingly like, not all of it, because they didn't, like, they only interacted when they talked to each other. Like, she wasn't aware that Gabriel was there? It didn't seem like hearing Gabriel had to like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th.a.a.A. th. th. th. th. th. that, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. tha. tha. tha. Right, right, right, right. Gabriel had to like express them to her. I have three notes in a row.
Starting point is 00:53:08 Adoy, of course it's her mother. Doctor's gonna wake Gabriel. Ha ha, ha, parasitic twin. In the video, they're like, uh, it was because it began to control her brain more and more. We had to remove it and then suppress the remainder the remainder the remainder the remainder the remainder the remainder the remainder the remainder the remainder the remainder the remainder the remainder the remainder the remainder the remainder had to remove it and then suppress the remainder into her skull. And I was like, wait, wait. And it just shows them closing a face in the back of her skull. Literally like, they're mushing the brain into her skull like sweaters into a suitcase though,
Starting point is 00:53:39 where it's like not quite fitting and you like push it down real quick and then slam the lid. You know? Just make sure I can get this rubber made tub shot. Oh, it's so silly. I just, I don't know when, so this is happening, this is like interspaced with the women being murdered in the holding cell, but like you see it now, the face coming out of the back of her head. I really love it. It's so fucking silly. And they're all like, what the fuck? It's like straight mortal combating them. It's like doing arm through the belly and smashing skull and stuff. So Maddie is asleep when Gabriel is doing this stuff? Like she goes like vacant and like her eyes roll back in her head.
Starting point is 00:54:27 It's so silly. You don't like that? But then like she kind of becomes the dead face on this body as it's fighting. Backwards, which was cool. I just the way it moves is so cool to me. Yeah, yeah. That's got like that had to have been in someone's nightmare and they're like well I need to put that in a move. Absolutely. Although wasn't that also in what was that Netflix show about the haunted house? Uh, with the family? The haunting of Hill house? Yeah, the haunting of hi. Yeah, they's the thin. Hauin' the hawed the house? Yeah, theynighed. Yeah, didnthat was so spooky. I thought that guy's knees were backwards or something. Yeah, I think so. Yeah. Are you watching Midnight Mass, which is Mike Flanning's new show?
Starting point is 00:55:07 Should I? I am four episodes in and really liking it, but I really like the other shows. Did you watch Haunting of Bly, man? Yes. Yes, is that any good? I loved it? More tears than scares. Oh, I'm out. Oh, I'm out. Now I'm out. I'm Mark Cuban. Is Mark Cuban still on Shark Tank? Is it the name Shark Tank a thing? Who you ask it? I don't know. Buy the Pittsburgh pirates, Mark Cuban. Please do it for me. I love you.
Starting point is 00:55:45 You were supposed to buy the O and you didn't, which made me like love you less. Don't run for president. No. Please buy the pirates. Please buy the pirates. And by the O. And if you're going to jump from a height, fall on your shoulder. Fall on your shoulder. Mark Cuban, I'm worried about you. So I have the note now he's being birthed again? Did someone say that or is that just me? I don't know. I truly don't know. Gabriel gets their stuff back? I don't know what that means. So like, so dark Maddie has now gone like full-on Assassin's Creed.
Starting point is 00:56:16 Like, watching this I was like, James Wan has been playing lots of Assassin's Creed. Very video game. Okay. You know I'm thi. I th th th th th thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thu-I thu-I thu-I thu-I thu-I thu-I thu-I thu-I thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thu thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi that thi. I tryry really really really really really really thateea. I thatea. I'm thatea. I'm thria. I thria. I thria. I thru. I thr game. And also like that DC Superheroes fighting video game. Oh, okay. You know what I'm talking about? No, I do not. I think it's about DC Superheroes. Okay. Is that what Superman is? Yep, that's Superman.
Starting point is 00:56:32 Yeah, and then there's just a room full of dead cops. Yes, because the're in a hospital and he's like, oh my heart, my heart, and Sidney's like, are you having a heart attack? And he's like, my pacemaker. And I was like, call for help, you're in a hospital. Nah, he did. I know, she's like, oh well. Uh, oh my god. So, yes, so now we're in the hospital. I don't know how Maddie got from the police station, I, I, to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to, to, to, the police, to, to, the hospital, the hospital, to, the, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, the, to, the, to, to, the, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, the, they. they. the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the hospital.. the hospital. the hospital. the hospital. the hospital. the hospital. the the the the, the the they. they. they. the the too, the the too, the too, too, too, too, too, too, too, too, they. to the police station to the hospital. Well she's going after mom or Gabriel's going after mom. Right who's in the hospital. Right on
Starting point is 00:57:08 life support. But not really. She's okay. Yeah but she had like tons of tubes in her but then she was fine. Also she only fell from height of the addict to the first floor and she landed on her shoulder. Did you note that? She did. Anyway, so dark Maddie's here. Yeah. Yeah. I was a hundred percent sure that Sidney got shot in the face and died. I think that she did. But then she's not dead. Yeah, but I wasn't real sure how that happened. Okay, okay. I was too busy making the note,
Starting point is 00:57:45 here's a little known fact about me. I can crab walk super fast. I'll show you later. So I have a series of note, Sydney dies, Gabriel kills mom, maybe not, Maddy locks Gabriel in mine prison. That's the end of my notes. Mine say, oh, RIP, Sidney, oh no, this is about to get so James Wand, dark room and all.
Starting point is 00:58:10 Oh, hey, Sidney. Oh, whoops, those last lines were sincere? Because at the answer is like, you're my sister and I'll always love you. And then the credits roll and you're like, wait, is there a part two that actually finishes this movie? I, it just, I mean, I thought it had been like well-paced and engaging, and then all of a sudden it's over and you're like, wait. I'm trying to figure out why Sidney wasn't dead. Because Sidney gets like pinned to the wall by the hospital bed.
Starting point is 00:58:41 And then shot in the face. But then, Sidney comes... Maddie goes to her and Sidney's fine. Well, hold on one second here, I'm reading the instructions. It doesn't really explain that on Wikipedia. But Sidney tells Maddie that Gabriel is the reason she had all the miscarriages because he was feeding on her fetuses, which was like... Come on. And maybe this is just,
Starting point is 00:59:10 maybe this is me being an uptight fucking dork, but like, that's too much. I'd rather be an uptight fucking dork than make miscarriage missteps. You know what I mean? Like, it's just not, it's just not, I don't know. It's gross. It's something that is so, can be so traumatic for people. Yeah. That I would not even venture into that territory. Why would you? Yeah, yeah. It's not even like, yeah. I don't know. James Wan went up to the fucking 30-meter board into the head or right into it.
Starting point is 00:59:48 Screw you, he landed on his shoulder. That's going to be a big splash. Zero points. It's, yes, this news that Gabriel has been the cause of her miscarriages is what allows Maddie to get angry enough to put him into a mind prison? Mind prison. Mind prison. And then she has the strength to lift the hospital bed off Sydney because she's like if Gabriel it was always my body and I was like so you can parkore down a building. Maddie, show me then. Yeah.
Starting point is 01:00:23 Yeah. And then she says the lines about like you're my sister and I'll always love you. me then. Yeah. Yeah. Mm-hmm. And then she says the lines about like, you're my sister and I'll always love you. And then the credits roll and you're like, wait, hang on. Hang on. Plus you're real good on finding documents, so we're going to play Call of Catholie together. Yes, her sister is such a good investigator. Yeah. Give me your rating on this movie. Okay. So I enjoyed the hell out of it.
Starting point is 01:00:46 Oh nice. I had a really fun time watching it. I did figure out that it was going to be a parasitic twin on the back of her head. Yeah. Pretty early on. I did not figure out that that was their mom. I should have guessed from the bangs. Um, I think I'm giving it more leeway because it's a James Wan movie where I'm like,
Starting point is 01:01:05 hey, look, you did something I like. Look, guy? And I really think that my biggest problem with the conjuring movies and insidious and all of those are that they don't know they're stupid. They're like the, what's it called, the Dunning Kruger of films, you know, like, like they're so stupid they don't th............ th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. I, th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. theeeei. I'm, thi. I'm, thi. I'm, thi. I'm, they're so stupid they don't even know it. Yeah. And this movie seems to know it's like schlocky. I think it is very much a B movie and it's also R. Okay, which I don't, I don't think so. Okay I could see that. But I also just really enjoyed seeing like a shlocky B movie with a huge budget. Yeah, I thought it was like, I actually, I had a lot of fun. I think it's not a great movie.
Starting point is 01:01:46 Yeah. I think, you know, it's very James Wan style, the characters are flat and. So flat. They're, the jokes are bad, and things are painful. And there's just too much smoke on the floor. Wait, don't you remember when she said, I'm gonna put a bolo on sloths for goonies? It was a bad shit delight, frankly. Okay.
Starting point is 01:02:10 Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. A perfectly ripe to you is totally subjective. Oh, for sure. That is delicious. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, yeah. Still a little bit of green on the top? That's, perfectly ripe to you is totally subjective. Oh, for sure, for sure.
Starting point is 01:02:27 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Some people like them, like crunchy. Yeah, I like a little bit of a snap. Yeah, I know you do. I think that's weird because then it coats your teeth. So it's a perfectly ripe banana for whom ever. I was so up my own ass and in my head about this movie. Because I know so many people loved it. Just like right out of the gates.
Starting point is 01:02:51 And I think that so many people just love this James Wands movies. From Saw all the way through all the ghost movies. Always forget that he's a Saw. Yeah, that was his introduction to the world. So I was like, are you like, you know, I have a medical diagnosis of opphysitional defined disorder so I just don't like things that are popular. Sure.
Starting point is 01:03:11 For the, usually, but I'm like, are you just waiting on this? Yeah. Well, thank you. Well, tip you. Thank you. I tend to to not, I, I, I, I, I, I, to, I, to, to, I, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, th. th. th. tho. thi. I, thi. I, I, I, I, I, I, th. I, like, thi, thin. I don't, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, th. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I th. I don't, th. I don't, th. I don't, th. I don't, th. I don't, thin, like, like, like, like, thin. I don't, like, th. I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, I don't, like, like, I don't, like, like, like, like, like, like, popular. I just like as a rule. And I don't like, are you, do you really not like this? Or is like, are you just being a dick? Just being salty? Yeah.
Starting point is 01:03:30 And I did, I had a good time watching it. I admittedly like started dozing at points to it. Really? Yeah. I think it was under two hours, so I guess that was pleasant for me. Sure, for sure. I'm trying to think, I won't, you know what? Um, I'm gonna give it a pumpkin beer. All right, so that could be good or bad. Yeah. Wherever you come down on it, hmm, mm-hmm.
Starting point is 01:03:55 But yeah, I would not talk someone out of watching this movie, I will never watch it again. I would watch it again with like screaming women. Not necessarily we're watching this movie. The suit too, ah! Ah! I just, yeah. I thought it was a lot of fun. I was like way more fun than it had any right to be. But then you're right that the, it's interspersed with like things of abject upsetting this.
Starting point is 01:04:22 Yeah, it just, it really really really, it really, it really, it really, it really, it really, it really, it really, it really, it really, it really, it really, it really, it really, it really, it really, it really it just it really kept like getting and stuck in my crawl that it was so like, followed by uh-uh. Yeah, uh-uh. Yeah, gotcha. And I think just miscarriage is a bridge too far for me. I agree. I was also pleased Patrick Wilson wasn't in it. Yeah, or Lee 1L. Who is, which one is? Which one is Lee 1L? He, like the co-writer on Saul. He's the guy in the guy the guy the guy the guy the guy the guy the guy the guy the guy th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thin-in and th. th. th. th. thin and thin and th and th and th and th and th and th and th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. I'm sure. Yeah, I don't care. But yeah. Katie. Can I read you a message from a patrol? I would love that.
