Werewolf Ambulance: A Horror Movie Comedy Podcast - Episode 353- Halloween Kills (2021)

Episode Date: November 1, 2021

Happy Halloween hangover day, EMTs! We hope you're still with us and that your stomachache from eating 400 fun-size Milky Ways is gone. In this week's episode, we're discussing the brand new entry int...o the Halloween franchise, "Halloween Kills." Special topics for your consideration include: two of our patron saints (Jamie Lee Curtis and Judy Greer obviously), when flipping the script goes wrong and who is to blame for it, the lamentation of Josh Hartnett no longer existing in this universe, cop school, vigilante justice, sentimentality, and looking like you financially support NPR. We have never and probably will never cover the 1978 "Halloween," but we have covered "Halloween III: Season of the Witch" (Episode 52), "Halloween H20" (Episode 201), "Halloween: Resurrection" (Episode 202), and "Halloween" (the Rob Zombie reimagining, Episode 304).  Find us online: Support us at patreon.com/werewolfambulance and get bonus episodes about action movies-- this month it's STALLONE-A-PALOOZA with the (probably) fine film "Demolition Man"! Starting point is 00:00:00 Can I read you one of my first notes? Please. Can I read you one of my first notes? Please. Anthony Michael Hallowain? I thought, I guess I thought I could my first notes? Please. Anthony Michael Hall-Lawain? I thought, I guess I thought I could do something with that. I'd written it here and then... It never comes up again.
Starting point is 00:00:34 That's not how you refer to him in all of your notes? No, just AMH. I was shocked to see Anthony Michael Halloween. Yeah, yeah. And I was just shocked as he and be, that he's a meathead. I mean, you mean it in general? Which is beefy? Yeah, yeah.
Starting point is 00:00:52 Yeah. He got beefy in the late 80s, early 90s, though. I feel like the last thing I saw him in was 16 candles. Sure, when he was twiggy. called Johnny Be Good where he played a football player. Oh I do actually sort of remember this yeah. And he got beefy for that and just kept on beefin. Stayed beef. Yeah straight just stay beef. I mean you were gonna get beefy stay beefy. Yeah for sure yeah and then get middle-aged yeah and then get. We all have to do that. Maga-E. But we can... Oh is he Maga-y? No no I don't think so but. You you th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And then. And then. And then. And then. And then. And then. And then. And then. And then. And then. And then. And then. And then. And th. And th. And then th. And th. And the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. And we all have to do that. Mega-E. But we can get it. Oh, is he Maga-E. No, no, I don't think so, but. You leave Anthony Michael Hall-Law-Wheens name out of your mouth, then.
Starting point is 00:01:29 Tommy Doyle was giving me MAGA vibes. Tommy Doyle is a vigilante. Yes. Yeah. What are we doing true. Now it's all over. Actually no one will probably download this episode because this is when our numbers tank. November is a hard month for us. Yeah, so tell your friends. So keep us in your thoughts and prayers. Oh or that. Tell your friends. Leave us a review actually. We could really use some reviews some reviews the reviews. Yeah, I'm a really really really really really really really really really really. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the th. the th. th. the the th. Yeah. their th. th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. the the their their th. their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their to. to. to. to. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta. ta.'m just asking. I think you give them hilarity in return. Yeah, I mean, did anyone else write down Anthony Michael Halloween?
Starting point is 00:02:08 I certainly did not. Well, there you have it. Blue mouse. Blue mouse. Blue mouse. Bingers in everything. In them in A24. They're like the two houses right now, right?
Starting point is 00:02:23 Yeah. The capulets and the the mont. I I I I I I I...... I. I. I. the. the. the. the. the. the. th. th. th. th. ulets and the Montague. I was gonna go there, but I'm glad you did. I wasn't thinking it until you said two houses. So let's talk about Halloween. Okay. The first one. Yeah. I mean, the first new, 2018.
Starting point is 00:02:37 Oh, we thought you were going time. 1978, John Carpenter, Deborah Hill? No, to 2018. 2018? No, go ahead, please. I was just going to ask who you thought of it. Oh, I liked it, too. It was fun. Yeah. It was fun. And this movie in true Halloween 2 fashion took all the fun out of the first movie.
Starting point is 00:03:00 Why though? I mean, it's like, it's, it's, it's, it's, it, it, it, they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they they like they, in the time, the storyline now, Halloween 2 never happened. Right, even though I think they use, they use some footage from Halloween 2 in this movie. That's what I fucking thought. But anyway, Halloween 2 never happened because that doesn't, that movie is not good. Right, right. And so they just made another not good Halloween too? I think, but like, if they were getting like, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, tho, tho, tho, th. th. Thea, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, they's, th. they's, thi. thi. th. th. they, th. their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, tho.. the. I think a bit of a bummer. I think it but like if they were getting like hyper meta about this and we're like okay we're doing the second one it's got to be not it's got to be gorier. It's got to be darker and it's got to be not as good. It's got to lose what made the first one great. Check check and check. And so the third one is going to have Tom Macken's fucking in it. Fuck! And no sign of Michael Myers. I walked into this really ready to like it. Me too. I was just amped up for it.
Starting point is 00:03:52 And I had heard mixed reviews. I had discussions with people where they were disappointed. I thought, well those people are probably snobs. I thought the exact, I was like, oh you're just being negative to be negative, you're polar real, me. Yeah, yeah. And then I watched it and for the first bit I was like, oh I'm having a great time. And then for the last bit I was like, I am not enjoying this. Yeah, and then there's something that happened at the very end that made me go First time I watched it with my friend Ryan. Hello, Ryan. In New Jersey, where we were chatting via the internet back and forth while watching it.
Starting point is 00:04:30 And how did you two feel about it? Uh, about the same. Yeah. It was pretty mediocre. And then you watched it a second time. I did because I had use the biggest font. I do. I'd like to be able to not miss anything. Yeah. I wonder if I can make my font bigger. I do it because often I will watch movies without my glasses on so I can see the TV fine, but for something that is close up I'll need it to be big.
Starting point is 00:04:56 So what you're saying is you need bifocals? I do. I have try focals. I mean I do because it's like it progresses. I have like all the vocals because it progresses all the way down. Oh, uh, oh, uh, oh. Old man, problems. Gotta use a big font. Are we ever told why Lori doesn't just move to Florida? In this movie, they're're like how did he find you and it's like well she fucking lives in Haddonfield so. And everyone knows where she is at all times. Every moment. Because she's the crazy
Starting point is 00:05:32 lady. Mothuckers you're all crazy because you all do the wrong thing at all times. Everyone in this movie looks at their choices and goes wrong please. Even there's one guy who the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the tho. tho. tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho thoes tho thi tho tho thoes thoes tho to to to o' to o' to o' to o' to to to to to to tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho tho toy toy. toy. toy. toy. to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to makes the right choice and then immediately follows it up with the wrong choice. Tell me who. So we meet the the older couple that are flying the drone around their house. Yeah, Sandra. Sandra and I can't remember the dude's name. Sandra is the only one I cared for. Sure, Sandra was great. They were actually both great. Her partner goes into the bed, they hear a noise, he goes into the bathroom and turns on the light and Michael Myers is in there smashes the light, he shuts the door and he's like, holy shit, run, call the fucking cops.
Starting point is 00:06:12 Yeah. And then steps in front of a window in front of Michael Myers. Yeah. I feel like if someone's in your house, you get the fuck out of your house immediately. Yeah, toot sweet. Yeah. Tooth sweet. Tell that to Big John a little, John. Ugh. That was a weird thing. I didn't like it. Was that one guy from Mad TV? Oh, you mean Michael McDonald? Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:06:37 I got so excited when people were like, oh, Boba. It was not that Michael McDonald. No. He was not taking into the streets. No. So I don't know. Like we can get into it I guess. Yeah, we probably should. Oh, we're going to do spoilers if you haven't seen Halloween kills. Yeah, good. You have. Everybody has. Yeah. I don't remember how it opens because I just have a lot of notes about my feelings about it. We pick up precisely where the last movie ended with Bonnie walking down the street and he sees a cop that's been downed as he's trying to call his, uh, Laurie Strud's granddaugh. Bonnie.
Starting point is 00:07:19 Bonnie is Lonnie's son whose name I cannot remember right now. Oh you just called him you just called him Bonnie. Because he is dressed as Bonnie from Bonnie and Clyde. Oh I have no memory of that. Yeah I'm in his friend were going out as Bonnie got it. So he's dressed as Bonnie that was sorry. Cameron Elom is is walking down the street and sees Officer Hawkins down and calls for help. Right and Officer Hawkins is like he needs to die and I'm the one who's going to kill him. Tonight. Spoilers, he does not. He does absolutely nothing. I did like that Joe Bob Briggs referred to Michael Myers as turning into a human tank. He just cannot be destroyed at
Starting point is 00:08:02 this point. And it's kind of redonculus. It really is. So then we immediately go into flashback of Officer Hawkins remembering the first time he encountered the shape. Yes. When he was a bad cop. Was he a bad cop? He was a rookie cop on the fourth. Right, he shot his friend in the neck.
Starting point is 00:08:19 That's not part of cop school. They teach you actually not to shoot to shoot to shoot to shoot to shoot to shoot to shoot to shoot to shoot to shoot to shoot to shoot to shoot to shoot to shoot to shoot to shoot to shoot to shoot to shoot to shoot the their to their their their to their their to be their their their their their th. their their their their their their their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, th. th. th. th. the, the. the. the. the. the. the. the. theat tooooooooooooooo. the. the. the. the. the. your friends in the neck. I would assume. I mean I think that's a fine limb to go out. I think so. Having not been to cop school myself. Pops can't touch. I believe it's called Police Academy. Oh yeah. And Bobcett towar. And so is High Tower. And Guttenberg. Love Gutenberg. And the off-mention Michael Winslow in this podcast. How has Steve Gutenberg never done a horror movie? I'm looking it up. Gutenberg, horror. You don't consider cocoon to be a horror movie when those old men are talking about their boners while they're walking around. Oh. Oh, he has. Oh, oh. Oh, fuck. Lava Lantula. It's one of those like shark-nato movies. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. the thi. thi. thi. thi. th. th. thi. the the th. th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. the. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. Oh, fuck. Lava Lantula. It's one of those like Shark Nato movies. Yeah. He must live because he also does two lava, two lancela.
Starting point is 00:09:11 I did like lava, two lancela. Do you like two lancela. He's really tickling something inside of me. I'm pretty happy right now. The idea of something being too lancelot is very funny to me. Okay he was in a horror movie called Cornered Exclamation Point, a vicious killer talks a group of friends playing poker in a Los Angeles liquor store. And then the fourth movie on this list is short circuit. Decidedly not a horror movie except for the treatment of Fisher
Starting point is 00:09:44 Stevens as an Indian man. Yes, what Fisher Stevens did is horrific in that film. I don't think he intended for it to be. I think they did that to him. I like the juror of Fisher Stevens apologist. I mean, yes, he auditioned for the role. Yeah, you had to do the voice. Oh yeah, that's true. So we see Halloween, we're back to Halloween 1978. Hawkins and decidedly not 78
Starting point is 00:10:11 looking police officers are chasing down Michael Myers. Right. And they lose him. He just ghosts them in the middle of the street. He can do that. Supernatural being at this point. Definitely. And then him and his cop buddy find him in the Myers house. Right. Though he's looking out the window saying, the one of the cops is looking out the window saying, Hadnfield, a place where nothing ever happens. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:10:34 And he gets mushed. This is the same cop that earlier was like, you know what used to know, and the guy's like pulls the wings off butterflies and was a real bad guy like in that Rob zombie movie and the guy's like, no he was nothing like that Rob zombie movie. I always forget the Rob zombie movies are like movies. I never saw the sequel to his Halloween. Oh, Halloween too. Is it, what's it about? It's Halloween two?
Starting point is 00:11:02 Uh, I don't remember. Ah, fuck it. How many times can they swing th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi thi they thi they thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi. thi. tho tho tho th. th. th. th. th. th. No, th. No, th. No, th. No, th. No, th. No, th. No, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo. th. th. Is it in the hospital? Uh, I don't remember. Ah, fuck it. How many times can they swing and miss at Halloween too, truly? Three? I think the answer is probably three. That was like the most obvious, like, the Rob zombie's? Yeah. I don't think so. Okay good. Did you like the slip knock masks? Was that what you liked about it? I mean that seems like something I might like. Or the Ken Foray's character who's taken a dump and gets attacked by Michael Myers? No I did not like Kfore a taking a dump and getting attacked. You're right. I didn't like it. Oh, there's that really gratuitous rape scene, too. Yeah, yeah, yeah. All right, I'm out again. Yeah. I think I just like that little kid playing Michael Myers.
Starting point is 00:11:47 Sure, he was adorable. Yeah. And Sherry Moon Zombie. Have you see the pictures of Sherry Moon Zambi as Lily Monster? No. I bet, I bet she looks. Yeah, he wants to give her work. Yeah. Also, it's like a tax write-off for him. Yeah. And also, it's the fucking monsters, who cares? Also, like, she's fine. She's fine.
Starting point is 00:12:10 There's a worse. Anyway, are we into this movie yet? Yeah, yeah, so, right. The cop gets matched by Michael Myers, He's like, the neck while he's trying to hit Michael Myers and then Michael Myers is like, whoops a doozy, and just gets away. He's like, now look what you've done. And goes and waits outside for Dr. Lumas to have him arrested. Right. How did you feel about the guy in Dr. Lumas makeup?
Starting point is 00:12:37 I thought it was actually very good. Yeah, yeah. Every time Dr. Luma showed up, I was ha. I was excited that it wasn't CGI, that it was actual like just somebody in prosthetics. Made it look, it looked fine, yeah, great. I would watch a movie with that guy in it. Believe that it was Donald Pleasant, yeah. I also thought that Michael looked great and has like good bearing. Sure, it's your boy. It's your boy. Yeah, it's the boy, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, it's, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I th. It's, I, I, I, I, I, like, like, I that's, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, I's, I's, I's, I's, I th. I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I'm, I, I'm, I, I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. It's, like, right? Is it Nick Castle? Yeah, he's still running around in there. Oh, gosh, he must be an old man. He is, and he's when you see Michael without the mask on, that's Nick Castle with makeup on. God, he was so hunky when he was young. Sure, he's not a bad guy-looking guy as an older gentleman. Oh, hey, whatever.
Starting point is 00:13:15 Okay. Sorry you'd to hit it with Nick. Yeah. How did you feel about Lonnie? Everyone's all excited because Lonnie's in this movie. I don't remember Lonnie. So Lonnie is the kid who is harassing Tommy Doyle with his pumpkin at the schoolyard. Oh. Yeah, right? Exactly. This is sort of the thing. This movie is so fucking sentimental about itself. Sure. It's about the franchise, I mean. It feels like the series finale to a TV show that's been on forever. It feels like the series finale of like friends or something where they gotta wrap up every storyline
Starting point is 00:13:53 and they have to like pull it your heartstrings and remind you how important it all was and how much it meant to you. But then in doing that, you're not making a good movie a thap a thap a good th that you, that you, that you, that you, that you, that you, that you, that you, that you, that you, that you, that you, that you, that you, that you, that you, that you, that you, that you, that you, that you, that you, that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you that you, that you, that you, that you, that you, that you, that you, that you, that you, that you, that you, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that, that th, th. thi, the thi, the the thin, to thin, thin, to thin, to to thin, thin, to to to to to to to to to to to to to rying to keep in mind this is the middle movie in a trilogy. Right, there's going to be another one. And how? How are you going to make a movie without Judy Greer? Spoiler alert. Well, you just said that at the top of the episode, my friend.
Starting point is 00:14:22 You said we're going to do spoilers. Oh, that's right. So how did you feel about, well we see Lonnie being tormented, insinuated that he got, he tormented because he was tormented. By the Malaney. By the Malani's. I fucking love the Malani's. I fucking love the Malani's. The one kid with like, is that a fright wig? Is that your hair. Is th. Is th. Are th. Are th. I? I? I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I th. I the is that a fright wig? Is that your hair? Is that your hair? Are you a middle-aged small man? Are you a middle-aged Chucky doll? Oh my god. That's what we're doing. You said I could pick a movie coming up. Yeah, we're gonna do a Chuckie. We're gonna do a bride of Chuckie.
Starting point is 00:14:57 Oh, nice. Just because of you. Because of you. Because because I because I because I because I because I because I because I because I because I because I. Because I. Because I. Because I. Because I. Because I. Because I. Because I. Because I. Because I. Because to to give. Because to to to give. Because to to to to to to to to to to to to. Because because to. Oh, or Childs Play 3, a really wretched film. Okay, I'll think on it. Tune in next week to find out why she's doing this to me. Yeah. So these kids are torbiting Lonnie and they're like,
Starting point is 00:15:15 you're going to die tonight, Lonnie. You suck and like spitting on him and stuff. And then a cop rolls will be like, hey, you see the guy in a white mask, he just murdered some kids down the street. The kids are like, what sink? So all the cops are terrible in this town? Well, like, get those children to safety. Sure, get in the car I will drive you home right now. There are other cops looking for the guy in the white mask. No one is looking out for these children. Yeah, first the first the first the first. First. First. First. First. First. First. First. First. First. First. First. First. First. First. First. First. First. First. First. First. First. First. First. First. First. First. First. First. First. First. First. First. First. First. they. they. they. they. their. their. they. they. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. the the the the the the the the the the the the the their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. their. th. tops. tops. tops. tops. tops. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. to. Do you think that's part of the thing they learn at cop school? I wouldn't hope so.
Starting point is 00:15:47 I would hope so. I think Bobcats got a whole class on that. That's Gutenberg. Not Gutenberg. Too lava. Two lanchola. Two lanchola. Two lancholins.
Starting point is 00:15:57 I feel like a lola is a delicious dessert that I would order, but can we get two Alancho over? It's either like something classy and Italian, or it's like, um, molten chocolate huma's from TGI Fridays, you know? It's an onion drink with a chocolate cake in the center. I would eat the fuck out of that. Copyright, copyright, copyright. Didn't work for Stephen Kang. It won't work for this. Work for our new blooming onion. So Lonnie is on his way home after the encounter with the police officer.
Starting point is 00:16:42 And having a very traumatic evening, Lonnie is. Yeah, Lonnie's not doing great. He bumps into the boogie man who knocks him to the ground when he runs into him. Yeah. And then he's like, oh no, it's the boogie man, but then there's the cops there. Right. And We don't need more characters in this movie. Huh? Yeah. How are you gonna get a mob if you don't keep adding more and more characters? I mean, you can get there's just a man in like a leopard suit and I was like, you know, you do you leopard man. But like they kill Michael Myers, the tellip. theylip. theylip. the the the Michael they. Michael ki. Michael they. Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael Michael. Michael Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael Michael. Michael. Michael Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael Michael. Michael they. Michael Michael they. Michael they. Michael kills a bunch. Michael, Michael kills a bunch a bunch a bunch a bunch a bunch a bunch a bunch a bunch a bunch a bunch a bunch a bunch a bunch a bunch a bunch a bunch a bunch a bunch a bunch a bunch a bunch a bunch a bunch. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. the. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. Michael. the. Michael. Michael, the. Michael, the. Michael, the. Michael, the. Michael, the. Michael, the. Michael, the. Michael, the. Michael, the. Michael, you know? Thin him out, Mike. Yeah. So then we get the cops arresting Michael Myers out in front of the Myers house.
Starting point is 00:17:29 Yes. And Dr. Lumas tries to shoot him, but Hawkins stops him from shooting him. Right. Because extrajudicial killing is never a good idea. Though Hawkins has just murdered his friend upstairs. Hmm, don't the cops are going to cover to cover to cover to cover to cover to cover to cover to cover to cover to cover to cover to cover to cover to cover to cover to cover to cover to cover to cover to cover to cover the the to cover the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the cops are going to cover that up. Yes, yes, which is brutal. And then we get the opening credits. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:17:50 And I really liked all the different pumpkins on fire. Loved them. I thought it looked really, really nice. Very fun. Very nice throwback. Yeah, callback. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah? I did. Speaking of callbacks. Yeah, yeah, I did.
Starting point is 00:18:06 I did. I do. Then we go to a karaoke night at a local dive bar. I like how those people were mad that our protagonists were being too loud. It's a karaoke bar. If you're not just shouting nothing at the top of your lungs. Why are you there? We're trying to enjoy the karaoke. Now you're not. I'm trying to have a screaming conduct over here. So who are the people that show up at the karaoke bar being too loud?
Starting point is 00:18:36 It's everyone from every movie that ever happened before. We've got Tommy Doyle, who's Anthony Michael Hall. Yes. We've got Lindsay Wallace, who is played by Kyle Richards who played her as a child, right? Yes, yeah. And is a real housewife of Beverly Hills? Is she? Oh no, I was going to say she looks great and I'm happy that she's doing this, but I also do not want, I've never seen one of those shows, but I assume that they're not like nice and jovial people. No one's like, oh, the random X of kindness on real housewives. Who is she married to that she is a housewife?
Starting point is 00:19:08 Oh, I don't know. Well, let's find out. Okay. Do, doo-doo, doo-doo, do-doo. Maricio Umanski. Oh, of course. The Umansy family fortune. He's a real estate broker. Also there is Marian Chambers, the nurse from the original movie. Yeah, nice to see her.
Starting point is 00:19:25 Which is fun because she died in H2O or Resurrection? Oh, damn. Well, those movies never happened in the... Right, right, right. But she, her character is in one of those movies, and is it Joseph Gordon? Who's in the Halloween movies that we did? He's in H2O? Okay, so, and he's, he's, he's, the th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, tho, tho, thi, thi, tho, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. tha. thoooooooooooooooooooo. to. to. to. to. thoo. th. th. th. th. th. that we did? He's in H2O. Okay, so and he's like... He's right at the very beginning. Yes, him and his friend break into her house.
Starting point is 00:19:48 Yeah, yeah, yeah. Yes. So I was like, oh, you get to die twice in this franchise. Yeah. Yeah. And she's so she dies in like, thii's in then she also dies in like the way that she was attacked in the first movie, which I thought was nice. Yeah, yeah, yeah. The final person is Lonnie, who is played by Robert Longstreet. Looking like Everybody's Drunk Unk, Uncle the Drunk, Uncle. And he's in all of those Mike Flan-Lan-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I-I. th-I. Yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, th, th, th, yeah, th, yeah, yeah, th, th, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah. Yeah, yeah, yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, thi. Yeah, thi. Yeah, thi. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, Haunted Hill, or the Haunting of Hillhouse, sorry, and I think he, and he's in Midnight Mass. Oh, okay. Yeah, and he's great in those. Hmm, I don't remember him from Haunting of Hill House. He is the groundskeeper.
Starting point is 00:20:37 Ah, I'd have to see it again. I feel like I watch these shows and then they're gone a year later from my brain. For sure. Is that pandemic or is that aging? I think it's a lot of pandemic. Okay. Yeah, there. Yeah. There's, yes. I've had that recently with audio books where I've like listened to an entire audio book and be like, nope. No, nothing. Nothing stuck. Voicent. the void where the words once where the words once were. Yeah, where that story that story that story that story that story that story that story that story that story that story that story that story that story that story that story. That's that story. That's that story. That's that story. That's the story. That's the story. That's the story. the story. the story. the the the the story. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the a gaping hole. Probably fill with jackaladards if we're being honest. Yeah but just the like candy corn jackalanders. It's so cute. I mean that mallow cream. So yeah they're all being rowdy because they're celebrating surviving Michael Myers. Weird but all right, whatever it takes. Because it's the 40th anniversary. Right it is. Which is fine. So if there was in the town you lived in, Gibsonia, Pennsylvania. A multi-homicide event on Halloween night. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:21:31 That would be legend, right? Yeah. Do you think you would have to go up at a karaoke bar and retell that story? No. Okay. No. I don't think anyone would want you to. But it does seem like a situation in which he's doing that and everyone's like, well, th, you, you, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to, to me, to me, thi. And, to me, to me, toa, toa, toa, too, toa, to. And, toa, toa, toa, too, toa, toa, to me, to me, toathink anyone would want you to. But it does seem like a situation in which he's doing that and everyone's like, well, here he goes.
Starting point is 00:21:48 Like, I guess we toast to you. It's very uncomfortable. It's very uncomfortable. And this is my first, why does this feel like a weird mega speech that he's giving right now? I don't remember what his speech was about, but I don't know. There was just just just just just just just just th is just th is just th is just th is just th is just th is just th is just th is just thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus thus, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi. thi. thi. tooi. toooiiiiiiiiiiiiiiii.aui. tooi. thi. thi. I think you mistrust white men with shaved heads and no necks,
Starting point is 00:22:14 which I think is fair in the year of our Lord and Savior 2021. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yes. And then we've cut to Lori and the family being on the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the, the, the, the, thea, tho, thoom, the, thea, thea, th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the the the theeeeeea. thea. thea. the the thea. the the the the thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. th we've cut to Lori and the family being on route to the hospital. That would be Andy Madajack? Okay. And what is her character's name? Talbeth? Tabitha Saurin. Oh, I wonder what she's doing these days? I'm going to go out and live and say she has a show in serious XM. You're gugin' it. Of course I'm gugin' it. What else do I have to talk about?
Starting point is 00:22:52 Old Guggenheim over there? Oh, Guggenheim. She's a fine art photographer. Yeah, yeah, she always seemed like her and Kurt Loder were like, oh, you're actually reporters. Yeah, that they had some like, they actually went to journals in school. Yeah. So yeah, they're on route to the fire, to the fire, to the hospital, and then we see the firefighters at Lori's home who were having a bad day. Well, we remember that, well, I finally remember that the end of the first movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie movie, the movie, the that the movie, the movie, that that that that that that that that that that that that that the that the the the the the the the their, that that that that that that that that that that that their, that that that that the movie, that the movie, the movie, the movie, the movie, the movie, the movie, the movie, the movie, the movie, the movie, the movie, the movie, the movie, the movie, the movie, the movie, the end of the first movie was them setting Michael Myers on fire in the panic room of the basement of Laurie Strode's Doomsday Prepper House.
Starting point is 00:23:28 Right, which was like that fun twist of like you think it's their panic room to lock themselves in and they're like no actually it's to lock him in. Yes. And then good on up 100 firefighters? Yeah. I mean this was a scene where I was like oh he looks great he's doing a great job but they're spraying him with a firehose he doesn't give a shit. It's just very vicious. The firehose is like you have to check that firehose's prostate because this dream coming out of it's so weak. Yeah, well, again, Nick Castle's an old man, huh? But just like, he just starts picking up firefighter implements and murdering them with them. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:24:10 And I really liked the guy who's like, I'm gonna start this circular saw up for some reason. Yeah. And like, then Michael Myers just like lifts it up and puts it in the guy's face. And I was like, oh, damn. Oh, Damn, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Oh, th. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah, like, like, damn. Oh, body. Yeah. There was apparently a firefighter who started a change.org petition to get the firefighter murders taken out of this movie because he said it was violence against firefighters. Sir, have you ever seen a horror movie or met a woman? I was going to be like... I'm sorry, I jumped all over you there. Yeah, no, it's like, sir, sir, sir, sir, sir, sir, sir, sir, sir, sir, sir, sir, sir, sir, sir, sir, sir, sir, sir, sir, sir, sir, sir, sir, sir, sir, sir, sir, sir, sir, sir, sir, sir, sir, sir, sir, the amount, the amount, the amount, sir, the amount, the amount, the amount, the amount, the amount, the amount, the amount, the amount, the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. the th. th. th. th. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th th thi th th thi thi thi. there. Yeah no it's like sir the amount of just regular as civilians that are being murdered in this movie.
Starting point is 00:24:48 Also like no one has anti-firefighter sentiment and they're cops but good. They're hot guys in uniforms who come and just do good things. They're like society's miracle. Don't fucking come at me and act like you're oppressed. Firefighters. I appreciate your work. Thank you. Yes, thank you very much. Thank you for your service My next man says remember when surgery was just on TV Don't know why oh because we see Lori getting surged right okay. That's why and it just called it surgied Surgeed no they got a surgery you're up. Yeah because it cuts to her being surgied and you're like not prepared for it. Yeah, and I was thi th. Thank. Thank. Thank. Thank. Thank. Thank. Thank. Thank. Thank. Thank. Thank. th. Thank. th. Thank. th. Thank. th. Thank. th. Thank. th. Thank th. Thank th. Thank th. Thank th. Thank th. Thank you. th. No, they got a surger year up. Yeah, because it cuts to her being surgeed and you're like not prepared for it.
Starting point is 00:25:28 And I was thinking about how surgery was just on TV and a time of like channel flipping too, where you had to like go through the dial to find what you wanted and you would just suddenly be watching someone's gallbl't want to be seeing that. Or just like watching someone get liposuction where they're like being stabbed with what looks like a cattle prod and you're just like holy shit this is on cable. Was there just not prestige television? Yeah was madman not around to do a rerunnel? I mean people say we're living in the golden age of television but I have to say surgery TV. He was nasty. It was nasty. It was nasty. It was nasty. I was nasty. I was nasty. I was nasty. I was nasty. I was nasty. I was nasty. I was th. I was th. I was th. I was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was th. I was th. I was th. I was th. I was that was like thi. I was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was that was th. I was th. I was th. I was th. I was th. I was th. I was th. I was th. I was th. I was like. I was like. I was like. I was like. I was like. I was a th. I was a th. I was a th. I was a th. I was a th. I was a th. I was a th. I was a th. I was a th. I was a th. I was like. I was like. I was like. I was like. I was like. I was like. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. I was. It was nasty. Oh it was always nasty. But I think that was the attraction to it right? Yeah, oh I watched a ton of surgery TV because I'm a nasty girl. Not in a c. Not that Janice Jackson got away. No, not the chin. Did you call her Janice Jackson?
Starting point is 00:26:19 She gets surging. We see that Sheriff Brackett, formerly Sheriff Brackett, is now the very aged security card at the hospital. Oh, okay. I was supposed to know him. Yeah, he is, he's the sheriff from the first movie. I just don't remember. Okay. His name is, the actor's name is Charles Cifers. He's still doing it, huh? And you would know him from he's the one who is hitting on Adrian Barbeau in the fog when they're having phone conversations. He is some muckety muck in escape from New York. He's like the mayor or something I can't remember. Yeah, yeah, yeah. He's in a ton of. I mean I recognized him, but not necessarily from the first Halloween. Right. And he. And he. And th. And th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the the th. the th. the the the the he's he's he's the he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he's he. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's. He's the the the the the the the the one. He's the one. He's the one. He's the one. He's the one. He's the the one. He's the the the the the the the the the th. He's in a ton of. I mean, I recognized him, but not necessarily from the first Halloween. Right, right. And also in my brain, that was John Saxon, even though I know
Starting point is 00:27:08 it isn't. No, to fall off and he spins his head up on? She's like, no, it stays on, great. See, that's a movie I've seen and I remember nothing about. Sure, sure. That wasn't even that long ago. No, that was very recent. Great. It's thank you. So yeah, we see Sandra and her partner get killed. Like, you know,
Starting point is 00:27:45 they're just death bait, but you still feel bad because they set them up that you like them. They seem nice enough. For sure. Yeah. And Michael Myers doesn't care if you seem nice enough. He's going to fuck you up. He's going to break your drone and then kill you. Yeah. She was pretty he, this is gonna be a deep cut, okay, hopefully you can follow me here. Why did he murder Sandra like he was Necro Butcher, the underground wrestler? Are you familiar with Necro Butcher? I am not.
Starting point is 00:28:17 He's a big like, stab me with broken light bulbs kind of guy. There's a clip online of him doing a light bulb match and he like stands up and pulls a light bulb out of his arm and stuff comes out and someone goes, oh man look at Butcher's arm! It's just like holy shit he's got a really high threshold for pain. He's, have you seen the wrestler? I have not. Oh okay no he's in the wrestler for those who have seen it. He's the guy who threshold for pain. He's, have you seen the wrestler? I have not. Oh, okay. No, he's in the wrestler for those who have seen it.
Starting point is 00:28:49 He's the guy who staples Mickey Rork. Oh, okay. It's him with a staple gun. Oh, nice. Yeah, because that's the thing that means. I would like to see Mickey. Do you have like, he breaks a light bulb and stabs her in the throat with it? And now we're backyard wrestling? What are we doing here, Michael Meyer? Yeah, I did not like that.
Starting point is 00:29:09 No. Uh, uh, and we get to watch Sandra breathing her last breaths as she watched her husband get stabbed to death repeatedly. After we've just seen them be nice to each other. It's like I hate this in horror movies. This is a thing I really don't like is where they introduce two nice people just so you can watch them die. For sure.
Starting point is 00:29:28 It's cheap to me. And it's also like unnecessarily brutal in this. It's mean, yeah. Michael Myers, like what is he doing there? Why does he go there a murder spree, right? Like he's just... Yeah. Because these movies, what these movies presuppose is that he's not hunting Lori Strode. Right. He's just a homicidal maniac.
Starting point is 00:29:55 But having to do with his house. Right, exactly. Like the whole reason that he wants to kill her is because she came to his house in 1978. Right. And like that, they're, because in the, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, because, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, the, Right. And like that, because in the last movie it was the doctor who was driving him around trying to find Lori Strode and make it a thing. Right, the doctor had like set it all in motion. Yeah, right. So then we cut to the bar and there's this very sweet older bartender. And I'm like, oh, theythankfully they don't. Yeah, he'll probably die in the next movie. He was the one who supplied us with old Huckleberry. Yeah, there were a lot of
Starting point is 00:30:26 baseball bats in that bar actually. Yeah, for sure. So they hear about Michael Myers. This is so this part is very frustrating because we see a news story on the TV in a world where people get their news from television news in the year of our Lord and Savior 2021, that two escaped convicts are still on the loose and they show pictures of them. Yes. And then later, everyone's trying to kill that guy and they're like, how do you know it's not him? It's like, because he's the fucking other guy. He's the Danny DeVito as the penguin-looking, he sure is. he's not obviously, obviously, obviously, obviously, obviously, obviously, obviously, obviously, obviously, obviously, obviously, obviously, obviously, obviously, obviously, the penguin looking motherfucker. He sure is. He's not obviously Michael Myers who
Starting point is 00:31:06 you saw on the television earlier. Yes everyone's on Michael Myers face the way the movie handles it is like Tommy moves his head and that he comes into focus the TV goes out of focus but you clearly see that the first guy is the other guy. So they think that Michael Myers is in the parking lot stealing the doctor and nurse's car? Yes. Oh yeah, we've met a doctor and nurse too, fine. It doesn't matter. They're like, they matter not for the film. Except that they do die later with Mary and tap. But their Halloween costumes are he's dressed as a doctor and she's dressed as a nurse, even though that's not their jobs, they're reversed it. What this movie presupposes is that women can be doctors.
Starting point is 00:31:47 Katie, I have news for you. It's so funny that they're like, whoa, we really flip the script. It's a lady doctor! You're supposed to be like, oh wow, didn't see that coming. I feel like I'm shocked. I have a confession. Yeah. Everything like that in thia, thia, that, that, that, tha, that,. Everything like that in this movie I blamed on Danny McBride.
Starting point is 00:32:07 Did you? Yeah, because he co-wrote the movie. That's fair. I was just like, hmmm. Danny McBride's fingers in it? Oh man. And so when they're leaving the bar is this when the evil dies tonight? Chance starts for the first time. I hate it. I hate it too. We see the person drive away in the the doctor.. the doctor. the doctor. the doctor. the doctor. the doctor. the doctor. the doctor. the doctor. the doctor. the doctor the doctor. the doctor the doctor the doctor the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. the the th. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. the. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. thea. the. I hate it too. We see the person drive away in the doctor and nurse's car and immediately wreck it and I was like well Michael's peripheral vision is gonna suck with that mask on for sure. But it isn't it's the other guy why is he such a bad driver? Also I feel like someone would be taping this on their phone and yelling either World Star or putting it on Tick-Tock. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:32:45 Yeah. We meet Big John and Little John. They're a flamboyantly gay couple. Yeah. And it's just kind of like... Who live in the Myers house? Yes. And they're having an argument about what a good Halloween night is. Yeah. I'm fine with getting high and listening to like
Starting point is 00:33:05 retro Halloween records. I'm totally fine with that. Yeah, it was one of them made a sharkoery board. Yeah, I'm also fine with fucking around with the shark boatery board. I feel like you could combine those two things. Those are ideal combinations. Yeah.
Starting point is 00:33:25 Before your time. I see. But it was just like, OK, what are these guys? They spend a lot of screen time. They do. And they keep openly, not openly, repeatedly calling each other Big John. Yeah, was that a reference to something else? I have no idea. I mean, the one that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's th. thoe thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi thi. thi, thi thi thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi is thi is thi is thi is thi is thi is thi is thi thi thi thi thi thii thii thi thiii. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi reference to something else? I have no idea. I mean, the one that's taller is Little John, and the one that's smaller is Big John.
Starting point is 00:33:48 What this movie likes to do is flip the script. The script has been flipped. So kids come over and pretend that they gave their candy bars out to them and there was a razor blade in it and one of the girls is dying. This is a palsy scheme because it also involves breaking into their home. Yeah. And the kid comes on and he's just like, I took the rest of your fucking candy. And you're like, wait a minute. What?
Starting point is 00:34:13 But I like that Big John and Little John immediately go into like existential bullying of these children? They do they do. Yeah, and they never get theirs. They don't. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. th. tho. tho. tho. their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their thuuuucoe. I too. I too. I too. I too. I tooe. tooe. tooea. tooea. tooe. tooe. I took Oh, frankly, those children had it coming. They did. Yeah. And they never get theirs. They don't. They don't. Maybe in part three. I can only hope. So then we're at the hospital. Yeah. And there's all these dead bodies from the cops a room with the window blinds open to the hallway? Like, is it across from the bathroom, presumably? I don't think that's how they do. I mean, they're a little loosey-goosey in Haddonfield, as we know. Crazy. Like, there are, there are so, there are several scenes in which people look
Starting point is 00:34:56 through that window and see a dead loved one. Yeah, for sure. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. Okay. the. the. the. the. So. So. So. the. So. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. the. So. the. the. thing with the like the new sheriff in town who's dressed like a cowboy. Yeah. I was like, is this Halloween or is this just your thing? What, is that, who, is that a right? I don't know. I don't know. I mean, the only thing I could think was like, oh, I'm the new sheriff in town.
Starting point is 00:35:18 Yeah, is it a blazing sadd. Is that what you're doing here? Because I would not be surprised. Come on, Danny McBride. This is also your fault. So an angry mob forms, and I thought, well, I'd kind of like to be part of an angry mob. Would you? You think you can get down with some mob? the mob vigilania? Nah. I think it's like one of those things I'd like to do in theory, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, but, and then, and, then, and, and then, and then, and then, and then, and then, and then, and then, and th. thi, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, and, I, I, I, I, and, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, I, th... th. thi. thi, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. then, thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi. thi a good idea. Because they'll immediately turn on you. They're an angry mom. Notoriously going to turn on you. I can't trust them.
Starting point is 00:35:48 No. Cops tell Karen and Lori that, and Allison that, or no, they tell Allison and Judy Greer that Michael's not dead. And Allison's immediately like, well, I'm going to fuck him up, and I, and I, and I'm th, and I'm th, and I'm th, and I'm th, and I'm th, and I'm th, and I'm th, and I'm th, and I'm th, and I'm tho, tho, tho, th, th, th, th, th, th, tho, thi, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, th, th, th, tel, tel, tel, tel, cops, cops, cops, cops, cops, cops, cops, tel, cops, cops, tel, cops, tel, tel, tel, th, th, tho, tho, tho, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, tel, tel, tell, tell, tell, tell, tell, tell, tell, tell, tell, tell, tell, cops this mother fuck her up gonna fuck him up you're a 17 year old girl yeah no 17 year old is that brave her and her boyfriend are the bravest hazeously so yeah and the parents are just like well god speed to you like when they get to the park and they split up it's like let's send the tee and the teeanagers over there this one has a shotgun they're like they're like they're like they're like they're like they're like they're like they're like they're like they're like they're like the the they're like the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the their they. they. they. their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their their they their their they they they they they. they. I I they. I the the theeeea they. they. the the the the the they. I the the they. they're they. I they're send the teen, the teenagers over there. This one has a shotgun. They're like, it's not going apple bobbing. Like, they're going on a murder spree.
Starting point is 00:36:33 Murder spree. So they're in the park. And they leave, what, Lindsay and Marion and Marion and Marion in think, and the, no, Lindsay leaves to go and talk to the kids on the swing set. Right. And Marion and the doctor nurse couple are in the car. That's right, that's right. They don't look at her, I guess, at all, to find out that she's being attacked by Michael Myers. They just are totally not paying attention.
Starting point is 00:36:53 Totally oblivious. Ok, okay. windows with it. I don't know but it's very very powerful. Yeah, yeah, he's got a strong palm. I like when he made the doctor lady shoot herself in the face. I thought that was very funny. I read a review that was like talking about the kills in this movie and how ridiculous they are. And they're like, the person review was like, I don't know how to feel about this because it's blatantly funny that he makes her shoot herself in the face by hating her with a door. Yeah. But it's like on the other side of that a woman just got murdered. Yeah I don't know it's funny I'm sorry. I think this was the same article I was reading that was talking about how this movie flips a convention on its head where it's like almost everybody he's dying is like people of color and like a queer couple and like
Starting point is 00:37:47 it's going after like it's not just like attacking white folks in some way. Okay. And like I don't love the idea of equal opportunity murder. For sure. Like well that's not the representation people want to see in film is it? Is it? Is that what they mean? But it's just like is that was that on purpose? Like, it's that? It's that on purpose? Like, it's like it's like it's like it's like it's that? It's that? It's th? It's th? It's th? It's th, it's th, it's th, it's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's it's it's it's it's th. It's th. It's th. It's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's it's the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. It's going? It's going? It's going? It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's that? It's that? It's that? It's that? It's that? It's that? It's that? It's that? It's thi. It's thi. It's thi. It's thi. It's thi. It's th. It's th in film is it? Is that what they mean? But it's just like is that was that on purpose? Like I kept... In which case is it racist? I was putting this weird sheen on this film that it doesn't deserve because it was shot in 2019 but so we get the whole like vigilante thing where the mobs running through the hospital and it gets to the point where they're chanting evil dies tonight and breaking windows with fire extinguishers and I was like, oh, this is, this is hitting bad in 2021. It's, it's prescient for its time when it was made, yeah.
Starting point is 00:38:35 Because I was like, they could not have filmed this since January. No, no way that happened. Yeah. Also remember when that happened. Remember when the government was almost overthrown? Remember how that's being rewritten as not that now? Oh Allison also left Butcher Knife with Lori wrapped up in her shirt. Yeah, just I got a bloody shirt next to her pillow going, Grandmother, this will be here when you need it. I'm your murder granddaughter. We're gonna both be murder heroes. And there's this incredibly weirdly sentimental scene between Jamie Lee Curtis and the cop. Why? Why? And it's all she gets to do in this movie.
Starting point is 00:39:17 It's a travesty that she has so little to do in this film. Why is that? Did she just not want to do it? Again it was like going back to Halloween 2 where she's barely in that., it. It. It. It. It's, it. It's, it. It's, it. It's, it. It's, it. It's, it's, it's th, it's th, it's th, it's th, it's th, it's th, it's th, it's th, it's th, it's th, it's th th th th tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, tho, th th th th th th th th th th th th th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th, th. We th. We th. We th. We th. We're both both both both both both both both both tho, thi, thi, thi, thi, thi, thooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooooo, tho, tho, tho in this. Why is that? Did she just not want to do it? Again it was like going back to Halloween 2 where she's barely in that. That's true, she is barely in that. And it was just like, I mean, is this seriously what we're doing right now? Because the best thing about the last movie was like her being a badass. Yeah, she's cool. She's cool. She's cool. She's cool. She's cool. She's cool. She's cool. She's cool. She's cool. She's cool. She's cool. She's cool. She's cool. She's cool. th. She's th. She's th. She's th. She's th. She's th. She's that. She's that. She's that. She's that. She's that. She's that's cool. She's cool. She's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that. She's that. She's that. She's that. She's that. She's that. She's that. She's that. She's that. She's that. She's that. She's that. She's that. She's that. She's that's that's that's cool. She's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's th. It's th. It's th. It's th. It's that's th. It's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's we get this like, I thought you were cute discussion. But you liked Ben Tramer. And it's like, did you really just do this whole scene to name-drop Ben Tramer? A character who is not seen nor heard from in the first movie, just mentioned in passing. Which, you know, I don't like that.
Starting point is 00:39:59 No, no, no, no, no, no, no, no. It's just like everyone is also taking a lot of breaks to be sentimental, but breaks from hunting a killer. You know? Uh-huh. So they run the little penguin-looking man, oh, fuck. Oh, fuck. Oh, fuzz. Yeah, and Karen is trying to do her best to stop them.
Starting point is 00:40:19 Yes, which is a very sad scene all around because Judy Greer fucking rocks. I love Judy Greer. And she's putting like this pathos into it. They're like, oh she's really sad that this man is going to get beaten to death and or kill himself. Yeah. And then the lingering camera shot on his exploded brains? That was weird. Yeah. I didn't I didn't hate it. No. But I didn't love it either But I was like no, but I'm currently sad that this man's dead Why do I have to look at his brain? We the POV characters caused this man's death And it's almost like the point is to be like well mob justice isn't real justice and you're like I know I know! Then Jamie Lee Curtis injects herself in the ass with like,
Starting point is 00:41:05 why did she have to do it so forcefully? I thought of you though because you've talked before about having a shot in the butt, well I don't wind up for it. After she gives herself the butt shot, I just have a note that says, this is bonkers. Yeah, it is. My next note says, wait, was that guy on Matt TV? So we must be back with the Johns. Who was his character that like was a little kid? Oh, like. You know what?
Starting point is 00:41:35 That's in my, that's in my gone for forever. What's his name was like Stan or something? Something? It's like a hatch opened in the back of my skull and all these things just pour out. But I like the whole like he left the back door open and Michael Myers sneaks into their house. Yeah. But then they could have just left their house and called the cops and been like there's a man in our house. Yeah they could have. You know they had a cell phone in a pocket somewhere. Uh-huh. Yeah. Although in his defense, big, big job was just in a pair of silk boxers and an A shirt. So. Yeah, well, he was doing his best. Yeah, he was just wanting to smoke weed and listen to records. Same. Um, and hopefully that's our crudery plate. Oh, here, here I described the escaped convict as a bag of yucky oatmeal. That's what he looked like.
Starting point is 00:42:26 Oh, when he was on the ground. Yeah. And this is where I also wrote, Still quite a few protagonists left. Um, Michael, Michael stabbing Big John in the armpit and then gouging his eyes on it? I was like, what are we doing here, Michael?
Starting point is 00:42:43 I like, I do like all the deaths the deaths the deaths the deaths the deaths the deaths the deaths the deaths the deaths the deaths the deaths the deaths the deaths the deaths the deaths the deaths the deaths the deaths the deaths the deaths the deaths the deaths the deaths the deaths the deaths the. Sure. I like, I do like all the deaths in this. I think they're fun and gory and slashery and exciting, whatever. What is Michael do? Why is Michael doing this? I mean, I still like that he does his dioramas where he sets people up and like he posed all those people with their, like the Halloween three masks on? Yes, which......... Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. I. I. I. I. I. I's, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, the. I. Yeah, the. Yeah, the. Yeah, the. I. Yeah, the. Yeah, the. I. Yeah, the. Yeah, the. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. Yeah. the. people with their like the Halloween three masks yes which is very sick on the merry-go-round lightly because merry-go-rounds are nightmares anyway and then he poses Big John and little John and the same is in the picture yeah we're supposed to feel something about that I think yeah I think so because it's the series finale I do love when killers put on a weird record though, which he does in their house. Sure, sure.
Starting point is 00:43:26 Yeah. Very strangers, the beginning of, you're next where they put on that Dwight Twilly song, the keep coming back, yeah. And then he kills Cameron. And you think for a moment he's going to spare Cameron, and I thought that is too fucking sentimental. So I was actually very pleased when Cameron died. No sentimentality. No. And Allison has to watch Cameron die.
Starting point is 00:43:49 Fine. You were the one who wanted to go a monster hunting. Yeah. No pity. And then Judy Greer stabs him in the back and saves Allison. And throws the weapon on the ground and is just like stepping on him with her little kids. You know, like to... Judy! Did you get nothing from your mother? I don't know, I feel like the ability to stab sort of the back with a pitch for it is a pretty big move. No, that's a big move.
Starting point is 00:44:11 It's a big move. And it turns out that she had set him up for a beat down trap. Yes. And I was wondering if unmasking Michael Myers is a where like now he has to retire. Yeah, yeah. It's a real Richard Ramirez scenario that comes out here. Oh is it? Yeah, that's how the nightstalker Richard Ramirez is caught was like a vigilante mob basically. Oh, I didn't realize. They put his like a, what's it called, an e-fit of him out and people recognized him basically just walking down a street in California, and all the neighbors ran out of their houses and like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, their, like, like, their, like, their, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, like, their, like, like, their, like, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their, their....... th. th. th. th. th. th. th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. Yeah, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, th. And, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, that's, th. Yeah out of their houses and like honestly if the cops hadn't come the neighbors would have beaten him to death. So Tommy Doyle didn't have to drive around California and recruit everybody who could find on the street. We're gonna need some good folks to go
Starting point is 00:44:54 out here and January 6th I mean beat up Michael Myers. Yeah I can see where you're going with Tommy Doyle as a mag of guy. I feel like that's not Tommy Doil like that's. I that's. I that's. I'm that's. I'm that's. I'm that's. I'm that's. I'm that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's that's to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to to me to me to me to me the their their their their to me their to me. I they. I to me. I they. I to me. I'm to me. I'm to me. I to me. I'm to me to me. I to me to me to me's fault. He came first, you know. And I realize, again, I'm putting my 2021 spin on this thing that was made in 2019, different animal entirely. So they start beating him down and he's taking the beat down. And Leopard Man shoots him a couple times. He's a very good shot compared to everyone else in this film, including the cop who who shoots his friend in the tien. Did the the the the th. Did th. Did you notice the woman who was just standing there with a iron? You mean the lady who looked like she was an NPR donor? Who at one point was chanting evil dies tonight and I was like really NPR lady? I just love chanting. Yeah. But also like fucking put Michael Myers in a wood shipper for fuck sake, you know? Yeah. You cannot just walk away from him. Yeah. You can't just walk away from him. the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. th. th. th. th. th. th. thi. the. the' th. th. th. th. th. Tallween, someone's got handcuffs on him. Right. Go inside the John's house because you know Big John does. So they beat him down and then Lori gives this
Starting point is 00:45:56 El Snuzerino of a like long-winded monologue. I don't even know what she said. I was like checked out both times I watch this movie. It was very sentimental. It was very sentimental, it was very much about like triumph the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the the th. Go th. Go th. Go th. Go th. Go th. Go th. Go. Go. Go. Go. Go. Starting point is 00:46:47 then Michael this like pulls old-fashioned Michael Myers disappearing act and Judy Greer goes into the Myers house and she's walking around. Looking out that same said window. After she sees the ghost of young Michael Myers in the window and he's like how would you know what he looks like? Yeah you were years from being born. And also, Josh Hardin is her brother. No. I really take issue with the fact that Josh Hardinette was never born, but OK.
Starting point is 00:47:16 And that your mom was never the superintendent of a school or whatever. Headmistress. And there was no big, luscious melons. Does that mean those big luscious melons. Does that mean those big, luscious melons never existed? I hate that for us. That means we must never speak of them again. And then the movie does the shittiest thing. Kills fucking Judy Greer.
Starting point is 00:47:36 Why? Why did he do that? I don't know? I guess. I guess. No, so now Allison has lost both of her parents. Or maybe it's going to be like a grandma trains you to be a, you know, a monster killer for the third. I guess. I mean, is it just like, like, Lori would have killed him in the next movie, regardless
Starting point is 00:47:54 of what happened in this movie? Yeah. We didn't. And let's give Judy Greer more work because I love watching her act. For sure. And I feel like Lori Strode, I guess they're just saying this has driven her insane. She seems pretty cognizant. But like at the same time she is like so myopically focused on this one thing. Well, yeah. Well for sure. I mean it's a traumatic event but like... I mean I can't get over my bad bad childhood and it was not nearly as bad as Michael Meyer stalking me. It's true. Starting point is 00:48:33 Says you! Maybe I should though. That's actually not a bad idea. Panic room to catch my sad thoughts. So that is the end of this work. It's getting dark. Judy Greer is the end of this. Judy Greer is dead and I have nothing left. That's the end of this movie.
Starting point is 00:48:51 Yeah, what a fucking bummer. Yeah. I'm really sad. You want to rate this thing? Yeah. Oh, go ahead. I mean, I think it's worse when I come in wanting to love something and feeling also that I'm going to then feel vindicated because everyone else is being a snob, you know?
Starting point is 00:49:08 Yeah. And like I was prepping myself for that feeling of vindication. Sure. I was planning to come on here and be like, well at least it was a lot of fun. Right. But then it stops being a lot of fun. And I just, it just wasn't, it was, this is really bad. And it wasn't, there wasn't enough, as weird as this might, it didn't have like a holiday Halloween vibe at all, to me. No, it didn't. You're right about that. It's just a slasher. Yeah, it just. Such a sentimental and also self-important one for sure and like Halloween 1978 is a fantastic film unfuck withable on unfuck withable unassailable For the kids for the kids This movie is very full of itself for that and you didn't make that movie. You know what I'm saying? Yeah. I'm gonna give it a four and a half. Okay. But I'm just really let down by it.
Starting point is 00:50:13 And I'm sad that I'm let down. I didn't want to dislike it. Yes, I 100% agree with you on that. Like I also had that like I was having these arguments in my head, I was like, people are just too sentimental about this stuff, were too like gatekeepery in a way. And I think all that's true, but also this movie missed the mark. It really did. It missed the mark, like shooting your friend in the neck instead of the serial killer. That's the kind of mark it missed for me anyway. At that point why wouldn't you just unload the fucking clip like you've already like done the damage? Right, he's yeah you're not going to save this man whose throat has been torn open, sirs. Yeah I think a four is the right call on this like
Starting point is 00:50:58 I'll put it out there I'm still hopeful that the third one is gonna bring the whole franchise together. I will go into the third movie being excited to like it. So, there you have it. And I'm excited for the next iteration of the Halloween things. Wait, this is the end though, right? Yeah, but it's gonna come back. They always come back. Yeah. It's a, it's the thing that can never end. Katie, can I do a shout-out real quick? Please. I would like to give a shout out to the Kill by Kill podcast.
Starting point is 00:51:31 Ooh, yes. Who got mentioned in Variety in a list of horror movie podcasts that people should check out. Oh, good for you guys. Yeah. Yeah. Damn, how do we get in variety? I don't know. Fuck you guys! That sucks! Just getting, that rules. Congratulations, Gina and Patrick. But I was like, I was really stoked for them. I think that's fantastic. That is fantastic.
Starting point is 00:51:54 Yeah. And you guys should check them out. But don't take our word for it, take varieties. I also want to give a quick shout out to the latest episode of Marveling at Marvel's Marvels, Marvels, which, ya boy is on. Yeah, it's their Halloween episode, so what did you guys talk about?
